never stops bringing me joy that, when brought to the precarious point where he actually genuinely has to like. step up and do something about the krew and their various behaviors and issues, kremy is the team mom. it's just that he's the kind of mom who spikes your orange juice with vodka so she can get some fucking peace and quiet to watch her shows tonight

Toxic Buddie shippers have turned into the a Republican state of mind after Tevan happened. Imagine hating on a queer post during Pride month. Insanity.
Literallyyyyyyy like they always show their colors the minute something doesn't go their way. They love to preach about representation and authentic queerness and yet when we actually get it, they act like this. When the queerness isn't palatable specifically to them, then suddenly it's all gay slurs and calling queer men predatory and abusive. It's wild to watch how quickly they switch from activist to homophobes. And the thing is they've always had this in them, they've never cared about good rep, otherwise they would pay attention to the other queer characters the show actually has. If they actually cared about what they preach, they wouldn't have hated every woman Buck or Eddie has ever dated, calling her disgusting names and insulting her appearance. But they are so willing to fall into slurs and homophobia and misogyny whenever they can utilize it to tear down characters they think get in the way of their ship.

I love the four options for how to get to an island that may or may not have moved in 12 years:
Repair a shipwreck. Probably would take a long time even for a small boat, then 3 days travel, and there's an End of The World timer currently.
Attempt to parlay with nearby traveling ships. 3 days of travel without needing to repair a boat, however bribing with too much coin may cause the crew to slaughter the party in their sleep.
Attempt to parlay with an angry ghost pirate to hitchhike to the island. Still 3 days travel without the previous time needed for repairs - however, requires diplomacy and may end up being attacked by angry ghost pirates.
Teleport. While travel is instantaneous, the staff to do it with damages the user a non-insignificant amount and the user may miss the target location and end up in the ocean or cause further damage to the entire party (and also then still miss the target location).
And naturally, the D&D party chooses ghost pirates.

What I loved about the moment where Brennan pointed at Rehka and Izzy and talked about roll clarity (other than it making me lose it from laughter) is that it didn’t come from a place of aggression. He wasn’t legit upset with them, he was laughing his ass off while conveying the information - shit he was likely LOUD about it, but it wasn’t aggro.

I was testing a mod I made that restores Tharaêl's purple eye color with both versions of him (because he has separate IDs)... and then some crazy nonsense happened.

Ya know, if there is an End possibility on the server, AND they find it, what a season for there TO be considering all damage is essentially permanent. Everyone’s talking about Elytra and Chorus Fruit possibilities but uh. Guys. There’s a Dragon in there

so like I’ll put it all in a spoiler but I think inkertons lore is pretty interesting
Konche says that inkertons family often visited his museum and that they loved history. Since he says “children” that means inkerton probably had siblings too. Apparently they died in a tragic way somehow and since we don’t see any other squids around I’m just gonna assume inkerton was a sole survivor…
anyways, Roland finds him somewhere on a seabed and after that he never returned to konches museum. Sometime after, he appears at Roland’s side doing whatever was asked of him, even if it meant harming what was his neighbors. (Bottom siders).
eventually he just shoots Roland while being completely unfazed.
so here’s what I think happened:
Inkertons family either had a bad run in with pagurus (eaten) and inkerton was just near a marker, or they died due to a scrap related incident (trash day gone wrong with a heavy object falling on them or shellfish corp. got involved and inkerton wasn’t old enough to understand who was responsible yet.)
after that, Roland takes him in and obviously a history nerd isn’t going to know how to fight, so inkerton has to learn to be useful to his new boss. Roland occasionally teaches the kid bad morals and desensitizes him to the idea of people he once knew dying by his (hand? Tentacle?).
once he’s ready he follows roland around as his right hand man. Seeing the consequences of their actions and silently hating himself and Roland for it. Eventually his hatred was too much to harbor and Roland’s teachings bit him in the ass as inkerton calmly murders him.
now what’s his relationship with konche?
I like to think that he doesn’t visit the museum anymore out of shame and regret. He knows what he’s doing is wrong in a sense, but he is willing to do whatever it takes to live. (I got this impression from his dialogue where he said he kept “fighting” and that he’s “a worthless sinner”). Konche knows him and his family and seems to pity him, that was not the sweet kid that frequented his museum.
in childhood inkerton probably looked up to konche as if he were a teacher. Besides being a bottom sider meant he probably didn’t have many luxuries, so being able to visit a museum and learn was very special to him. If it were konche instead of Roland who found him, inkerton could have lived a happy life.
Inkerton is ashamed of his job, even if he enjoys some of it.
I mean just look at this scene here,
Konche looks over at him out of fear, and inkerton looks away and even MOVES.
look at where he’s going, there’s nothing over there! He can’t even look into konches eyes, that’s how ashamed he is!
And yes ok maybe it’s a stretch because it’s such a small detail BUT HEAR ME OUT..
in conclusion: they could never make me hate you inkerton

as much as i will say i hate the warden in minecraft for a few reasons like it being the prime example of mojang insisting on a "you cant kill anything ever" direction for their games, i will say it is one of the coolest mobs in the game and it's insane how scary they managed to make it

i have a soft spot for kitsch. i love compulsively collecting those stupid sticker sheets with bijons and bunnies and bears in all kinds of expertly designed inoffensive situations. i love heart and star and flower hair clips. i'm staring at a phone strap with beads that are shaped like fried eggs and you bet your ass they've got little smiley faces on them. i got it without even knowing what i'd attach it to
so anyways, i think of kitsch as kind of like, an aesthetic lubricant, or a sort of balm. it's easy to swallow because it aspires to be exactly what it is; in the case of my favorite, it aspires to be--and is by generally agreed-upon metrics--cute.
i think perhaps what separates typical kitsch from corny art is that a corny piece seems to aspire to something greater, often something political or cultural, yet ultimately is seemingly nothing more than exactly what it is. a frog with a sassy catchphrase, maybe a pun. the deeply personal and political nature of queerness captured in a few vector lines and a gradient. there is nothing to "figure out", you have everything you need. no questions at this time.
i think perhaps the idea is for the cutesiness to be a spoonful of sugar that helps the medicine go down. one might think combining those thorny and often painful feelings associated with politics and identity and suturing them to something saccharine and simple makes them more bearable.
but i feel like the "what you see is what you get" nature of kitsch isn't something that can easily transfer to things adjacent to it. a political slogan or symbol, ostensibly, reveals an ideology, a context, a history. a cute drawing of a frog rarely does the same (not to say it never can). when placed together, do you want to flatten the political message into an unquestioned notion, a "vibe", or do you want all your artistic decisions to be considered and exposed as they might be in any other context?
it feels like a kind of art that doesn't take itself seriously, so i think those of us who hold a great deal of seriousness find it jarring. because of the kitschiness, the implicit message to not think about it too hard, it ends up being confounding, because how could i not think about it? at times the underlying politics seem to slap you in the face, the simplicity of the motifs lay bare the careful calculation involved, and all you can think is, "this is really corny and lame".
i don't feel deeply wounded by much of it because i'm lucky to surround myself with people who have more personalized and thorny artistic tastes. and in general, i have lower stakes for politics in images because i seek politics in my life. but it is tiring to see, and it sometimes reveals deep and troublesome assumptions about the world, and worst of all--it's uncool. so yeah, pack it up. but i will be taking one of those cute cat stickers on the way out, yes, thank you

Bro am I the only one that has eternal beef with Atreus from gow? Like I get he's supposed to be a very troubled, impulsive little shit but my god, the mf has been getting on my nerves for 4 years. I literally feel Kratos exasperation everytime the little shit does something dumb or impulsive.
