CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED SHINEE'S CONCERTS I HATE EVERYTHING. At least I watched the livestream 😭 and everyone was there, Jongin </333 Okay, love my 5th gen rookie Shinee <333 Hard is very "current bgs sound" it does sound like Nctee a little bit, but the vocals!!! Sounds like a banger tbh, it's not too weird so I can digest it quickly lmao. I like when Shinee is having fun, even though it may not be my fave TT from them, I feel like I may like it more than DCM. The MV was very NCT, perhaps not my fave, SM is a hit or miss with their music videos. Anyways, it's very 1st gen, got some Seo Taji and the Boys vibes. BUT THE BSIDEEEEEES!

It's frustrating because KQ can put so much thought and creativity into the lore, the MVs got so much better too, but the photos? And why do they only post one for each concept, Hybe drops 2737272 photos and they're usually really cool.

Shinee's concepts may be simple, but the Thom Browne ones are very aesthetically pleasing and the NCT-esque ones are fun too, because the pics are dynamic despite the boring background. Love all the boards you've prepared! I actually bought some more SM albums, particularly NCT's and Aespa's (I know, fuck SM, but I got a good deal) and the photos?! WOW. The issue is KQ is scared of taking risks, they can't commit fully, even the outfits for this comeback, we thought we'd be getting Yeehawteez, but it's so half-assed and we're back to fucking bikers and bodyguards, lol. And I'll never understand why they had funky hair colours for Halazia and not this. And now Jongho is purple??? A bit late, mate. Yes, Outlaw just like Movement is very cohesive, but I feel like that kind of cohesiveness is overrated and a bit too much. The songs blend in, I don't know where one ends and another one begins, and they're STACKED with noise and switch ups, so listening to the whole thing from the beginning to the end is a lot. ZFP1 is a cohesive album, it fits the late summer vibe, yet each song is very different. I'd say ZFP3 is similar. So, I have to admit that over quarantine last year my suite mate really got me into KPOP boy groups (plus KARD, we spent a total of 3 days straight crash coursing the industry and watching MVs) so I wanted to share this with you guys as a sort of get to know me and intro of myself into the KPOP stan world. ( I am new to this and am learning more from my suite mate every day. We made a pact that if I listened to her KPOP she would listen to my “Emo” music. Yk, SM as a company has always intrigued me. If you move past thousands of purplebloods screaming about how SM copies BTS and is jealous of their success you start to realise how interesting the company is.

Take NCT and RV for example, they've always come out with the most unique and risky music. NCT had it harder because they'd been called flops for their different approach to KPOP up until 2019 after which they got popular because of it.

SM no doubt know's HYBE's recipe for making BTS (Not like other girls tactic and mental health awareness msgs with the relatability factor) and yet NCT never strays to make western-appealing/ safe music. At this point, with their whole unit concept, they're doing something entirely different from KPOP's path.

I always laugh when armys say NCT/ SM copies BTS because??Um where? Both of them are on either sides of the spectrum.

RV, out of the top three girlgroups with twice barely straying from their cutesy concepts until recently and Blackpink with their tried and true girl crush formula, has always been versatile with their music and yet they're in the bottom half of the top three ggs

It makes me wonder. SM is no doubt a capitalist factory but they've always gone down the riskier side of music that strive to produce new and interesting concepts and sounds while knowing that it's a 50 50 chance.

I think this is what separates them from HYBE. Both are sick capitalists but while HYBE chooses the easy way out with quick cash-grabs I've always wondered why SM never chooses the easy way out with easy to digest sounds and concepts.

the reason it feels like sm copies hybe is because hybe poached sm's creative director because she was THAT good. (sm was fucking stupid for letting her go and it served them right for chewing off more than they could bite with superm/nct/AI startups, but that's beside the point.) hybe wanted so bad to get that smprint they paid millions for it and worst of all is they're not even living up to the expectations bc of the American pandering. at least regarding bts. I can tell txt and enhypen have been benefitting from the creative side which good for them! their concepts have been outselling bts since 2020 (yes including mots7) but bts is effectively undergoing their 1Dfication era so :/

I feel a lot of things regarding SM and it's hard to put it into words bc a lot of it is contradicting. I fucking hate lee sooman, I hate the way SM treats the personal lives of their idols and I hate how exploitative they are with minors. I think lsm needs to retire already bc he's fucking crazy and honestly sees himself as some sort of visionaire genius Elon musk type of shit.

that being said..... no company will ever hold the impact that SM has on kpop. not even hybe. new kpop fans take this shit for granted but literally all that you see and buy and love from your faves came from SM

the concept of mini albums? SM did it

fancafes? entire platforms dedicated to idols interacting w their fans? SM came up with that

schedule announcements? SM invented them

dance practice videos? you have shinee to thank for that

concept teasers? SM did it first

PHOTOCARDS?? SM!

group positions? again, SM

Japanese releases? your groups putting out entire comebacks for Japanese albums and all that? that's the SM print. BoA and TVXQ paved the Japanese way babey

to put it simply, SM has always bet on pushing the envelope. they don't underestimate their audience, they trust them to be open minded enough to enjoy new ideas and things that are different and deviate from the norm. also, they have trusted in investing on black talent and black producers to make the music that will set the trends, because lsm is well aware kpop is the direct product of black culture. so it's only logical that they will continue succeeding if they invest in black artists, and the gamble has paid off.

hybe is a company bigger than sm yg and jyp put together now. but they're big because of a single group. people forget that the big 3 are called the big 3 because they have put out more than two acts in different generations that became trendsetters and were at the top of the industry, and they've done it for decades. hopefully hybe will be able to do that as well one day, but you can't compare apples to oranges. hybe has bts. sm has h.o.t., tvxq, boa, shinee, girls generation, exo, nct, red velvet.... should i continue?

member pricing is horrible, especially when the group is popular like the dreamies or skz </3 i live in canada but there are so few canadian trade/selling accs that i usually end up buying from american sellers! i usually end up paying $12-15 CAD with the paypal conversion fees and such when i buy which is why i'm trying to hold back a little for now :') my ult is hyuck followed by jaehyun, renjun and jeno so it's hard for me to find decent priced pcs sometimes rip my bank account </3333 the pair of tbz pcs are usually for trade instead of sale but i've seen them go for up to $100 each on insta which is why i haven't bought either of them </3 what's kinda sad though is that i prefer their older album pcs (the not so sexy ones lmao) but since the album is out of print, people tend to either wanna trade, hold onto them or sell them for crazy high prices which really sucks but i've been able to get a couple cute ones for a good price :')

my sister pulled nabi sung without buying it and i was about to smother her in her sleep to steal it /j but i pulled double jisung for hot sauce and hyuck for hello future so i wasn't too upset after that!! i'm surprised that i haven't given away most of my collection for trades but i think my pulls have been good enough to make me wanna keep them!! (also you're minho biased!! the taste <3) i usually buy mine on insta but the ones that i need are never on there so i've been looking for other places that might have decently priced pcs :')

Hello, everyone! As most of you already know, we had a hiring period for new admins back in October. We selected two new admins, who have been in training for about a month and a half. They have been doing an awesome job, and we’re delighted to officially introduce the two new members of our team!

Kenya (@waenamyeondream): Hi there! My name is Kenya (she/her)! I’m 25 and work in social media in DC. I love K-pop and majored in Korean in college. The first group I got into was 2PM, but I’ve been an SM stan since then. I am too indecisive to have an ultimate bias XD, but Taemin holds a special place in my heart, along with Jihyo and Baekhyun <3 My current favorite groups are SuperM and ATEEZ. THE TOP 10 WORST KPOP SONGS OF 2020

(WARNING: I DON’T LIKE THESE SONGS AND WILL BE MEAN AT THEM. I DO NOT HAVE ANY PERSONAL BEEF WITH ANY OF THESE GROUPS OR ARTISTS SO DON’T COME FOR ME IF YOUR FAVE MADE A STINKER TRACK THIS YEAR.)

Ah, 2020. The year where disco came back, the 80s came back, and everyone was titling their songs after nonsense words. It was a good year for k-pop overall, with a lot of new trends entering the game towards the end of summer. However, there were some real clunkers that refused to get out of my head this quarantine and pissed me off to varying degrees each time I heard them. This list is an attempt to chronicle all of those.

So without further ado, let’s get this shit done.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

NCT 127 - PUNCH This isn't actually a bad song, hence it only making it to the honorable mentions section. In fact, I think this could've easily made the best list had it not been for one thing, and that's the presence of NCT 127, namely their rap line. The instrumental on this thing is absolutely killer and one of the best productions to come out of SM in a long time. The entire thing is bizarrely structured and incredibly gutsy, and therefore I think it's a travesty that an instrumental this incredible was drowned in ASMR-esque whispers and EYYYY WE BALLINs. There are a few salvageable sections, namely the first post-chorus, and we see glimmers of NCT 127's true potential, should they choose to explore this sound further.

CIGNATURE - NUN NU NAN NA Similar to Punch, I admire the production choices here - there are a few sections that blast you with 100gecs-esque womps, and that's always something I enjoy. The vast majority of the song rarely dips below decent territory, but since the entire thing hinges on the titular hook, it ends up falling apart right when it needs to bring the hype the most. I mean, building a hook around those notes was...an interesting choice, I guess. It reminds me a lot of fromis_9's FUN!, which also constructed the entire song around a terrible set of notes. Listen to them yell that hook at you and tell me it doesn't sound off. Most frustrating song of 2020.

ONG SEONG WU - GRAVITY Have you ever heard a drop this weak? I sure haven't. I hate the way he says DIVING INTO YOUR LOVE, the over-enunciation kills me and there's one syllable too many. Also, thanks Ong Seong Wu for giving CRAVITY the promo they deserve.

BTS - FLY TO MY ROOM I can't relax while listening to this, the beat is so sparse and has this nauseous sway to it that really makes me feel like I'm reliving these past 9 months of quarantine all over again. And just like quarantine, it really feels like this goddamn thing never ends. That final set of choruses is really a chore to get through, and I'm not the only one who thinks so - shout out to Taehyung for serving taste and I'm sorry Jimin convinced you to sing out of your natural range yet again.

TREASURE - MMM Ew.

I*ZONE - FIESTA It's a pretty standard girl group song up until that chorus hits and oh my god, who on earth produced this? Are they actively trying to trigger my psychosis? There are so many sounds happening that it feels like three or four demo tracks laid on top of each other, it makes me confused even trying to figure out what's going on here. And that post-chorus drop is horrendous, it's like the instrumental is literally screaming into my ear STREAM BLOOM*IZ!!! STREAM BLOOM*IZ YOU DUMB CUCK!!! YOU LOVE IT!!!

NOW FOR THE REAL LIST.

#10: TAEYEON - HAPPY

I do not like this. Taeyeon has one of the most powerful voices in the industry and instead of putting it to good use, she decided to put out the musical equivalent of eating a stick of butter. Bland, horrible texture, seems to go on forever and ever, you know you shouldn't be consuming it and you don't know why you're doing this to yourself, etc.

The MV contributed to my dislike, with Taeyeon whitewashed all the way into uncanny valley as she lounges around her beautiful apartment. Well of course you'd be happy if you lived in a place like that, I know I would. The sad thing is that there's some really nice vocal work here and there, but for the majority of the song, Taeyeon decides to serenade us in the most nasal tone that she can muster. I know she can sing better than this, and I'm disappointed in her for creating this and unleashing it on the world.

#9: WEKI MEKI - OOPSY

Whereas Picky Picky was annoying in the best way possible, Oopsy is annoying in the worst way possible. The instrumental legitimately sounds cheap, the drums sound so tinny and artificial that it's hard on the ears. Not to mention the hook, wherein the girls force their voices as high as they can go as they proclaim OOPSY!

I'm a huge fan of cute concepts, but when it comes to putting out a high-energy sugary track like this, you're walking a fine line between adorable and irritating. Weki Meki didn't even try to walk the line, they just dove headfirst into irritating territory without a care in the world. It literally feels like the audio equivalent of having to hold a whiny toddler and then it pisses itself and the mom is just cooing about how her little darling made an oopsy.

#8: VICTON - MAYDAY

It feels like for most of the year, the vast majority of boy groups were stuck in a rut, knee-deep in sludgy EDM and leather harnesses. You know the songs I'm talking about, and I could've put any one of them here, but I chose this one purely because that chorus makes me feel like I have a concussion. I don't like this song nor the trend it's representative of - I spent most of quarantine having the same dark BG concepts thrown at me over and over and I'm glad things are starting to take a bit of a turn.

The bridge on this is actually pretty great, and the guys in VICTON do know how to sing, as can be seen in the final post-chorus. But man, there's just nothing fresh being brought to the table here, just the same stale trends in their worst form yet. The hook is so slow and drowsy, the same few notes just repeated over and over. I have not seen the MV because I feel like I can picture it well enough in my head just by listening. Are there harnesses? Don't forget those, boys.

#7: MCND - SPRING

Only Pentagon are allowed to do these concepts.

#6: HYO, LOOPY, SOYEON - DESSERT

This is genuinely unlistenable as soon as the drop hits, with a vocal stitching job that might be a horn synth, I'm not sure. That's how annoying it is. The producer is clearly incompetent and the performers are oozing with personality, though not the pleasant sort. The hook is bratty and the raps here are beyond generic. After the halfway point, there are a couple interesting sounds thrown into the mix, but it's not enough to save things.

Soyeon in particular sounds awful here, with her iconic nasally tone morphing into something genuinely irritating and borderline spiteful. Age up the toddler from the Oopsy comparison to around 7 or 8 and that's basically what you've got here. All I can hope is that this song is not influential in any way, shape or form, because I just had a vision of Blackpink imitating this production style and I felt a shiver run down my spine.

#5: SECRET NUMBER - WHO DIS?

I'm not sure how many Secret Number fans are out there, but I'm about to make all of em real mad at me right about now. However, it must be said.

This is basically Your Turn by Kaachi again.

I don't think I need to explain that hot take, just listen to the song. It's surprisingly amateurish, to the point where I feel like the vocals aren't in sync and they just used the first take they got from each girl. The raps in particular are awful, and I swear they even sound like they go off-key a couple of times. How this blew up in any aspect is bizarre to me. Anyways, stream Photo Magic and stan Kaachi.

#4: BAEKHYUN - CANDY

Did you want a k-pop version of Yummy by Justin Bieber? No? Well, Baekhyun decided to make it anyways! At least Yummy was sort of funny in how bad it is, this is just...a somber affair. Inexplicably, he manages to oversing the final third of the song, which I don't get the point of, but okay. Lazy, underproduced and overproduced at the same time, bland, boring, annoying...

Wait, did he just say...

Okay, I changed my mind, this is hysterical. Like Pop rocks, strawberry, bubble gum...

#3: (G)-IDLE - DUMDI DUMDI

I'm so sick of this group's 'ethnic' schtick, it's like they never learn. They just don't give a fuck - after a string of genuinely great tracks like Hann, Lion, and Oh My God, they just decide to put out this shit and expect me to listen to it? They're a group with a lot of potential, with some brilliant vocalists and the talent that is Soyeon (who really loves being on this list, apparently) but if they continue down the path of using different cultures as concepts I can't support them any further.

The song itself has salvageable parts, a recurring theme on this list, but the over-the-top tribal influences are so obvious and tropey that even listening to it feels gross. (G)-Idle have more creative control than most groups, and the fact that they're capable of creating works of art like Lion is what makes me harsh on them. Instead of moving forward, they continue to regress into their comfort zone of cultural appropriation.

#2 YOOA - BON VOYAGE

Speaking of cultural appropriation...are we gonna address this? Nah? Okay.

Oh My Girl, YooA's parent group, has a history of blatant cultural appropriation (and arguably some legit racist moments depending on how you look at it) and they seem like they're not changing anytime soon. That's why this particular song stings even more than it probably should. If you thought Dumdi Dumdi's tribal influences were a little too on the nose, take a listen to this chorus.

YooA has a bad voice, is wearing tribal face paint, and is running around the wilderness whitewashed into oblivion while a choir of nameless voices chant vaguely tribal things behind her. Even in an industry like k-pop, this sticks out as something in bafflingly poor taste, and I can't see how she got away with this in 2020.

#1 BLACKPINK & SELENA GOMEZ - ICE CREAM

Well, this is a predictable pick.

I don't know why or how Blackpink thought they could get away with drip-feeding blinks content for 4 goddamn years in the lead-up to their first album, only to drop this big fat clunker on them. I honestly felt insulted by the song, from its cheap, tinny production to the god-awful lyrics. I don't know how anyone could find any value in a piece of music this soulless and hollow.

Lisa's raps are by far the worst part of it, with FIRE BARS such as "you're the one been chosen, play the part like moses" and "mona lisa kinda lisa". Unfortunately, these raps take up a good portion of the song, and there's nothing going on in the instrumental to distract you from them, save for that little ice cream truck jingle. (or at least I think that's what the producer was going for)

Selena is a non-presence and essentially blends in with the girls, who WAIL that awful hook like their lives depend on it. Also, there's some really cheesy innuendos here that're sung with all the sex appeal of the actual ice cream truck driver from literally your neighborhood.

I loathe what this song represents - the only good thing about it is that the girls look stunning in the MV. And that's exactly the thing - this song represents the exact moment in time wherein Blackpink admitted to their audience that music is no longer their main focus. This is the peak of their influencer-ization, and only time will tell if they'll redeem themselves. (Spoiler: They sort of did, goddammit.)

although we don't know if they actually know it or not, I think they're smarter than doing ca knowing it's offensive on broadcasts on purpose, like you have to be an absolute idiot (maybe they are at this point idk)

also, it's obviously not fans' duty to keep educate them and I've seen a lot of discourse of people being rightfully tired of keep doing so. but at the same time, it's worth mentioning that a lot of international discourse hardly gets to their ears anyways. there was the wondering as to why sm is so quick to react when less important stuff happens but it won't react with ca even if many people email them about the matter. my answer is that sm as a general company will not take into consideration elements that are not directly impacting their name or the name of their artists in korea. for example, no one in korea probably knows about the ca issues and if they know because they've seen it on Twitter they don't care to spread the word. unless it's something huge when everyone talks about it (and from our perspective ca is huge but still, just some people are talking about it on Twitter, it's not on the trendings in korea) then sm will not make a statement because they think it's useless and it will only get them negative attention (in my opinion, sm will get positive attention if they apologize or make a statement because it will make them look aware, educated and responsible but that’s just my opinion).

you'd think that since sm is expanding a lot overseas it would be more careful to take into consideration every culture and every country's opinion but it's not true.

at the same time, even if they don't care as a company to educate their artists and even if they're assholes (idols legit receive an education as in "if you date we will cut your balls" so I don't think it's hard for sm to do a workshop once a year and have a person explain ca to them or get the idol and say “yo, what you did is shit, stop”) since they're business people at least they should care about the money they would lose if they keep acting poorly. their money still comes from fans and if fans turn their backs to them they won't have it anymore.

idols could definitely educate themselves without companies stepping in but I think if the general korean public started to get educated first so international voices can be heard and spread by everyone then it will definitely help a lot

to give you an example, I live in Italy which can be seen as a cultured country when it comes to social issues, yet no one knows about the Indian dance moves, using black hairstyles if you're not black, calling roma people slurs, even all types of slurs going around. I personally know about it because I live on the internet and I speak English, but the average Italian person has no idea about it, no one talks about it ever. of course some of them will not give a fuck after you educate them but most of them after I say "hey this is why you should not do this because of this reason" they will stop and say that they had no idea. my mom was shocked to hear about black people not getting jobs or getting made fun of because they have natural hair and her rightful question was "why would they be denied work because of that?" because no one here really knows about other cultures' struggles if they're not actively spending a lot of time studying about it.

this is absolutely not to justify the lack of education koreans have as a population, but it’s still an element worth mentioning. if idols keep doing shit im inclined to say that maybe they don’t care about it (very dangerous take for them if they want to keep their reputations intact so it’s probably not the case) or they legit still don’t know about it which to us sounds absurd but I am a international relationships graduate and there’s still so much about the world I have no idea about and i am learning everyday.

people like taeyong, although i have no fucking clue how he really is irl, will probably listen and understand fans’ concerns, especially him. and i can’t imagine him knowing about it and not giving a single damn. i also wish there were easier ways to make them understand certain things.

I will end this long ass post by also mentioning how i think it’s very offensive and rude the way fandoms use social issues to feed into their wars and honestly it makes me boil with anger. everytime there’s something going on, i see the “yeah but your faves did this and this” or the first to act upon an issue is the “rival” fandom just because they finally have something to shit on the other group about. most of the people ive seen lamenting about ca are people that have no reason to feel offended about said thing but they just jump on the hate wagon because they generally hate a certain group. ca and other sensitive topics should not be the object of petty conflicts. people are appropriating someone else’s pain for their own stupid use instead of being mature and responsible people

So they all can at least hold a note:) Got IT! :) Love That. Honestly for me...Karina may not be the best dancer in the group! NingNing has presence and she can SANG! I also like that the song allowed her to showcase that without it being a ballad. Yep, I’m pretty sure NingNing and Giselle are my faves in the group!

BTW: The choreo is great and I felt like they all are really good dancers. No lack luster BS allowed! They all had power and energy in their dance moves. For me, attitude and energy can make or break a group. In the video the girls are on point. Let’s hope they can pull it off in the live performances.

Style: Lately I’ve been really questioning SM stylist cause... NCT and Super M. But Aespa clothing choices are really 👍 Chefs 😘

P.S. The colors in this Black Mamba video are so pretty! This fairyland meets Technology thing honestly is so pleasing to my eyes! I loved all the colors and sparkly things 😂.

i’m kind of torn on it, on the one hand i feel like this is a great opportunity to address double standards....but maybe i’m giving netizens too much credit in assuming that we can talk about more than one issue at once...you know what i probably am. the actions should definitely be the focus here (but tbh i really would love to talk about how sm released a statement about irene vs. the current nct u guys offending an entire culture and sm saying nothing).

i also think the order of events in this issue is interesting and i wonder how it’s impacting people’s feelings about things. like in a normal situation it would go:

editor speaks out > someone discovers/reveals it’s irene > netizens are furious > sm releases a statement > irene apologizes

but how it actually went is:

editor speaks out > irene outs herself and apologizes > sm releases a statement > netizens are furious

like in the normal situation the apology is in response to the fury of netizens and is meant less to make amends with the offended party and more in response to backlash. now this is not, absolutely NOT to credit irene, i’m not gonna pat her on the back for doing the bare minimum after she fucked up lol. but i do think it’s interesting that, while normally the apology is the response and the anger dies down, the apology instead was tied to the accusation/revelation and now the only response that can be given to assuage netizen anger is something more severe than an apology. idk if this makes sense but i do think that the order of events here impacts netizen reactions.

here’s what i’ll say (echoing my earlier post a bit): if we lived in a society where the “punishment” for irene’s actions, no matter what it is, from a forced apology to being kicked out of the group, was equally levered on men and women, then okay. but here they actually have a situation where male idols are being let off easily happening at the exact same time, like it’s literally right in front of our faces and sm is showing nothing but their asses. this doesn’t mean not to punish irene, just that nct should be punished too.

tl;dr- i don’t have an opinion on what the result of this should be. she deserves to be condemned (i leave that vague on purpose) and i deeply respect those who dislike her. i’m not a reveluv so i don’t feel the sense of betrayal there, but i have been a service worker who was treated poorly by customers so the power dynamics implicated here make me kind of upset, remembering my own experience. at the same time, i’m not desi but I have experienced idols mock and disrespect my culture (i’m black) as well so the idea that the nct thing is completely irrelevant also leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Visuals That I Struggle to Appreciate

ALRIGHT let’s get controVERSIAL. Jks this isn’t going to be controversial unless you, the reader, makes it so.

What this post is: A list of people (with explanations) that are either official “Visuals”in their group or who I find are REALLY praised for their visuals. But that I don’t find particularly visually striking because my tastes are different.

Why I made this post: because I think it’s interesting that there are certain idols that EVERYONE seems to think are amazingly beautiful or have incredible visuals. And that I have different tastes. It just seems like these people are the ones that EVERYONE goes on and on about for their looks and I just Don’t Get That’s also why I included the member(s) whose visuals I like. Just for a comparison and to see how people’s tastes differ! NOT TO HATE on anyone.

Because Kpop is so visually obsessed and I wanted to point out that these idols aren’t just their looks.

This is just saying that I think their visuals aren’t their strongest point, even tho their company and the PUBLIC really emphasizes their visual. I love all these idols and I appreciate them for their singing/performing/dancing roles in their groups. I just, personally, don’t find them super attractive.

Seokjin (BTS) - oh boy starting off with Seokjin is like asking to die but it’s true. I never found his face particularly attractive. I think it’s his mouth/jaw - just not my type. His humour and personality? Hilarious, amazing, brilliant. He doesn’t mind being silly and his interactions with the other members are always great. He’s also grown so much, vocally and dance-wise, and that’s been awesome to watch. Don’t even have to say anything about stage presence/charisma cos all of BTS serve on that level.

If I had to pick a fave visual: V/Taehyung, BTS bias: Jungkook

Taeyong (NCT) - why do i crave death? Idk, All I know is that I can’t jump on the Taeyong-Visual-King bandwagon. His features are really sharp. I think he has an interesting face but not one that’s conventionally attractive so I’m really surprised that Koreans seem to like his visuals so much. Stage presence and rapping are fire, obviously.

Johnny (NCT) - ahahaha pls don’t kill me. I just don’t get his visual appeal. I think he’s funny tho - personality is FABULOUS. And that SM DOES HIM DIRTY GIVE HIM MORE LINES YOU BASTARDS. He’s also tall.

If I had to pick a visual: Jaehyun, Bias: Yuta and Jaehyun

Irene (Red Velvet) - she’s beautiful. No doubt about that. I just don’t think she’s the visual of the century or the country. I’m not a fan of RV so I can’t tell you my thoughts about her other roles in the group. I just don’t get the extra-loud hype about her beauty.

Jisoo (Blackpink) - same as Irene. She’s pretty but I don’t think she’s the most stunning visual.

If I had to pick a visual: Jennie

Tzuyu (Twice) - again, she’s pretty but not the most stunning visually, imo. again, not a fan of Twice. I’d like to hear more about Tzuyu than just her visuals. She’s grown so much as a performer/singer and that should receive more praise.

If I had to pick a visual: Jihyo, Bias: Chaeyoung

Jae (Day6) - okay this is such a lie. I saw Day6 live and I was on the side of the stage with Jae and I straight up fell in love with him for 2.5 hours. But that was because of his performance/charisma/stage presence and his voice and how he interacted with the audience and his guitar playing. When I just look at pictures of Jae, I’m not overwhelmed by his beauty. I am overwhelmed by his humour and the WISDOM he spits on his podcast (listen to it, it’s called How Did I Get Here and it’s under Dive Studios)

If I had to pick a visual: Wonpil, Bias: All of them I love Day6 so much (Ult group). Young K has a special place tho cos bassists are just *chef’s kiss*

Yeosang (Ateez) - i think he’s cute but I don’t think he’s as gorgeous as people say he is. What he IS is a good SINGER AND DANCER @KQ GIVE HIM LINES/CENTER TIME. His baritone could be fire.

If i had to pick a fave visual: bruh SEONGHWA (also part of the visual line), bias: San (who is also gorgeous. literally all of Ateez are beautiful wtf)

Mingyu (Seventeen) - okay apparently he’s hotter in person but i’ve never seen him in person and pictures/performances could not sell him as the visual (for me). His rapping is so good thoooooo. And his dancing? Wild.

If I had to pick a fave visual: WONWOO, bias: Wonwoo, Chan

Jeonghan (Seventeen) - he’s like...almost too pretty? idk how to explain it. i feel like he has ‘extreme’ features the same way Taeyong has. i DO like how he plays with the whole androgynous look tho. Very interesting. Also his stage presence is crazy.

Vivi (Loona) - she’s cute and pretty but i don’t think she’s super stunning, the way people say she is. Blockberry does her DIRTY tho and i would throw hands with them for her.

if I had to pick a fave visual: HEEJIN, Jinsoul, bias: Heejin

Soojin ((G)I-dle) - her stage presence and charisma is insane and her features are interesting but I don’t think of her as the ‘great beauty’ that everyone says she is. She has a really interesting voice and her dancing is stellar.

if i had to pick a fave visual: i think all of I-dle have really interesting/arresting faces. I actually really like Soyeon’s look (kinda edge) and Minnie’s. Bias: Yuqi

YooA (Oh My Girl) - i just don’t get the appeal of the ‘doll-like face’. first, it’s such an impossible standard for girls. that pressure to be cute is so ugh. HER DANCING THO and her VOICE?!?!? in that Harry STyles’ cover?? WOW. She also has so much swag
