The Chaos in Justice excerpt
coffee shop writing sessions continue to produce magic, i have written a whole ass chapter and I'm still going. pls enjoy my latest bit as the Chaos Crew start the school year with a school-wide tournament.
Electricity. Of course his first fight would be against an electric opponent. Like this whole thing wasn't dangerous enough already. Sure, they weren't supposed to intentionally kill each other, but accidents happened. And he was fighting an electric opponent armed with water. Max widened the space between him and the bubble, just as a precaution.

Cats are interesting.
Tonight one of the cats, Lou, was giving signals that, to those who don’t know him, would seem strange and contradictory. He was yelling at the ceiling and was puffed up, with what we like to call ‘squirrel tail’ (his tail puffed out completely so it’s bigger around) wagging around furiously.
However, he was also making a beeline for me the second he saw me so he found bonk his head on my legs and kneed the floor. If you got close, you could hear his tiny rasp of a purr, and if you touched him you could feel him vibrate (and also how puffed out he was).
To those who don’t know him, these are mixed signals for a cat. The first bit usually indicate they’re scared, and are trying to make themselves bigger to be threatening(puff), or annoyed at something(tail). The second are cat ‘I love you’s. Seeing the former, many wouldn’t get close to him—he is also a very big boy and doesn’t hesitate to show off his cutlery— and when we first got him we would give him a lot of space as well.
Years later and we know that he just Does That sometimes, and he yells at the ceiling because he likes to scream at reflections of light. You gotta let him do his thing and come to you, and then gently pet him until he depuffs.
Idk, I just think it’s funny how after a while you get used to pets’ weirdness and learn how they operate.
We know that Lou will always have a slightly moving tail, that he can’t really purr, but he will try and will make biscuits like rent is due the next hour plus interest, that nights and mornings are the time when he wants cuddles and you will usually end up with a Lap Monster (you do not get a choice for when he comes or goes, and he will hold on if he doesn’t want to leave so you need to grab a blanket when he comes up), that when playing when he flips on his back over and over he is overstimulated and Will Bite You, and that he just kinda barks sometimes (we had to tell the vet this when he had to stay overnight once because they were confused).
And Lou is just one cat of three, and they all communicate differently.
It’s sweet that people take the time to listen to their pets, and decipher what they want, even if it’s through strange means of communication.
I like to think that people try to understand one another just as much. It make take some time, but learning one another’s way of communicating is a love language in of itself.

My cats have this meow that means "please come with me to fix this" after which they'll lead me to the problem in question, usually a empty (or 'empty') food bowl or a closed door they want open. They look at the 'problem', they look back at me, clear message.
What fascinates me is how this illustrates what they percieve as being in the realm of my 'power.' I control the food, I control the door, sure, but my cats love to sit on the balcony in the sun, and it has happened plenty of times that on a rainy day they come get me, go to the balcony and show me... the rain. "Please fix this" they say. "Please get rid of the wet"
"Silly kitty," I say, "I can't control the rain." I then walk into the shower and turn on the rain.

I could think of no better way to share the news than this!
So when I was 17, my cat went missing and I'd given up hope of ever seeing him again.
Until on Monday, 27th of May, 2024, my friend sent me a FB post asking 'isn't that your mother?' about the person named on the microchip.
Tumblr media
Here he is! 16 years old, and found safe, twelve whole years after he went missing!
Yesterday (Tuesday the 28th of May, 2024) I went to the rescue that had him, and I reclaimed my boy, renaming him Artie! (He'd originally been called 'Cat' because my mother and I couldn't decide on a name)
He's home safe with me now, currently inhabiting my bathroom and purring up a storm every time someone goes in there!
I'll be doing slow introductions between him and my current cat to give them the best possible chance of living in harmony!
Here's some pictures of Artie once we let him out of the carrier:
