So, @immortalwalnut made some incredible art of the twin hatchlings, and I haven't stopped screaming/staring at it for the past two and a half days.

With permission, I'm posting them here for everyone else to lose their minds over.

First up, Jon's hatchling, whose name is yet-to-be-revealed to anyone other than @immortalwalnut, though there is a hint here.

THIS HANDSOME LONG BOY WITH HIS HAPPY FACE IS JUST SO DELIGHTED TO BE HERE. Can you believe Jon really allowed him to be stuffed in a saddlebag for transport? No greater crime has ever been committed. Not to be overlooked/undervalued: his copper toe beans and every last copper accent. His adorable toof. His copper webbing! His everything!

Not finished yet, @immortalwalnut also made stunning variants for each hatchling. Here is a "butterfly" variant for him:

Who knows, maybe dragons can see a broader spectrum of light and this is what they see!

Next up is @immortalwalnut's rendition of the beautiful Qelebrys, She of the Starry Night Sky.

Pensive, beautiful, deserving of all praise and treats and you can bet that Rhaegar is already composing sonnets to her. Can enough be said about those tiny bits of silver peeking through (and look like the most adorable freckles on her face)? Or her little upturned nose? Her fierce chest plates?

And when the light catches the silver just right, variant Qelebrys is not so different from how she actually looks (other than perhaps the wings)!

I think we can all agree that it would be a privilege to be immolated by her dragonflame.

Holiday Pictures 2023! (part 1)

Happy Holidays, everyone! This year I decided to put together some pictures of various folks. They’re all in a style that makes them seem shorter than usual. I did my best to get them looking good, so apologies if there’s any errors. Admittedly I had only planned to make eight of these, but I had experienced a drive to keep making more – a phenomenon that’s been incredibly rare for me these days – so that number expanded to 16. They’re mostly featuring folks on Twitter that I know, like, and/or admire in some meaningful capacity, so I hope they all like what I’ve put together!

For NS-Games, it’s the “Fix-It Cat” Collin LiBee. A very good friend who’s good with computer problems, and has been making some nice art to boot! He’s wearing his purple shirt today, and showing off a laptop with a familiar wallpaper design.

For PetrarchEleven, it’s his protogen character Ramune! He seems to be having a good time, dancing and waving those glowing batons all around. He just needs to be careful! If he doesn’t watch where he goes he could accidentally fall to pieces!

For Saturn’s Rings and Colonel Sandwich, it’s their respective characters Saturn and Terry, posing together for this one. Early on this year Saturn had asked for a picture of the two together, and this was the opportunity to do it. They are indeed a cute pair!

For Treevis, it’s his character Lytzyv, dashing and looking cool. I think this is the fourth iteration of him that I had made, with little tweaks in design each time. I don’t see too many images of him these days, so hopefully I got all the details down.

For VAdaPEGA, it’s Pantufa the Cat, as he appears in the “Extended Edition” of his game. I always thought he looked good in that attire. But with how small he is, I didn’t think it was enough, so Honker is here as well! It’s a two-fer! (Or maybe a “Toof-er”?)

For Cooper the Husky, we have…Cooper the Husky! He’s got a cute art style and characters to match, so I tried to keep with some of the aesthetic. I particularly liked his “modern outfit,” so that’s what he’s wearing here.

For Miles Fox, it's Charlotte, the main character of his work-in-progress, “SLAY-BELLS!” She seemed like an appropriate character to draw this time of year. I somehow ended up making her look like something from a Rankin-Bass special…which I guess is also appropriate.

For HunterBahamut, this is Hunter. I had drawn Bahamut a few times before, but this is the first time I made this one – I opted for his black-and-white iteration.. I’m not sure if he’s running away from or towards danger, but he sure looks like he’s ready to confront it either way.

Obsessed with your alt Gisu design, you have so much talent! 💙💙💙💙 I was wondering how you came up with each of the interns alt designs. Also hope you make a comic using that Alt design for Gisu one day!

tysm!!!! i'm glad u like them ehehehe ^_^ i can give u some design notes. it will be a long post sooooo I will put it under the cut. always love an excuse to ramble abt design choices.

Gisu: I do like her dinosaur shirt swag, but i feel like her layering doesn't have a lot of clarity in terms of like. what is going on with the shirts (vest?) and since the dino thing is never relevant to her character, I decided to lean into the electrokinesis theme with the lightning bolt jumper & under-cape pattern. Which is just a headcanon but I always forget it is!! I just like the idea of her being into electrokinesis bc it would make a lot of sense for someone who is paired up with Otto. Changed her bag to be a strap for her board so she doesn't have to carry it around all the time. Asymmetrical bun for some of that PN1 asymmetry flavor. Mismatched shoes bc she seems like the type to think that's cool (also maybe bc i do this and i'm projecting) Missing toof from skating incident + torn jeans. Electrokinesis scars on her hands, bc I like to think that psi-powers can leave physical damage if not used properly.

Morris: tried to balance out his proportions a little bit because sometime i feel like his head is so big you can't even see his body in screencaps. tried to make his head less round and his eyes too, I kind of like the thing that PN1 did where the heads sort of just fade into necks with less of a cutoff so I did that too. Nasty teenager moustache just felt right + some freckles. I changed his nose scar to face the other way bc I thought it was supposed to be nostrils at first. No notes on his levball-lawnchair wheelchair bc it is everything to me.

Lizzie: wanted to up the 80s goth influence on her. Imagine her hair as the super-teased puffy fried Siouxsie hair of the 80s goths. Nerfed her amount of patterns just for the sake of there is no way I am ever going to draw all of her details ever bc I don't have that kind of patience. again the graphic liner to lean into the 80s goth style. Also took away her chin/neck priveleges bc I did that to norma first and wanted them to still look similar. denim vest for more 80s influence.

Adam: (his is the only one i haven't stuck to drawing like this yet bc i like his canon round head) but I made him more square in general bc I feel like he's the most grounded and straight-edged intern. gave him more pattern on his dress (tunic?) and hat bc everybody has more pattern than him. the linked lapel pins and hat dangles are meant to evoke his use of the yo-yo weapon. Unified his color palette more with more green and purple. Strings tied around his fingers, again for more yo-yo imagery but also bc he seems like a workaholic who would be overscheduled and have a lot to remember.

Norma: this girl knits!!! she was the first character i tried to "PN1-ify" and she just felt like she needed a big old backpack. for her overprepared freshman who thinks she knows everything energy. also symbolizes her putting a ton of weight and expectations on her shoulders when she really doesn't have to (which is kind of a core tenet of the little bit of canon personality she has) orange glasses bc my tinted glasses addiction is quite evident. the yellow pompom on her hat matches Lizzie's, giving them a sibling connection, also saying that she knitted her sister's hat :]

Sam: the first thing that I thought when I first saw Sam's canon design was that she looked straight out of 2013 with her ugg boots and that particular shirt pattern, which maybe isn't exclusive to the early 2010s but once i thought that it was burnt into my mind. So I tried to make her look more 80s with the short skirt and buckled boots and off the shoulder sweater. the too-long sleeves give her kitty energy (and i put cat hair on them). Gave her whale earrings bc she seems to really like whales in canon. gave her a cleft palate scar because i drew her with that once, plus I kind of see it when she makes the :3 face. revoked her neck priveleges altogether because if compton and dogen don't have them why should she!!!

random au ideas for reverse 1999:

yellowjackets au with green lake cast. maybe instead of football they have tennis, simply because it’s tied to TooF skin. TooF is a coach, Joshua is a manager and the rest is a football team. I just think that horror survival theme + 90s time period that happened canonically in GL event will tie nicely.

verneider in the 50s and it’s basically Avicii “Addicted to You” music video. to be frank, i’ve started writing fic but now i’m too busy to continue it :( . i thought of a road trip kinda fic where they are just gay and doing crimes /hj. just want to see a bittersweet story of them helping each other achieve dreams… ughh too much to explain sr

these are just my ideas for drawings, but manhwa Opium or 2016’s Hadmaiden inspired au with TootZ / ZFairy (ಥ﹏ಥ). i mostly imagine this ship in very domestic and slow-paced environment. but putting them in more dark settings kinda makes me think what would they do? TooF taking care of her lady, dressing her up and such (in Handmaiden scenario). and i just see so much similarities in Opium and TootZ

Tom’s Top Ten | ALBUMS OF 2023

It's (belatedly) that time of year again, let's get into it.

10. Hotel Bleu - Broadside

I’ve made peace with the fact that Broadside record is likely to top Old Bones for me but Hotel Bleu is choc full of plenty of upbeat catchy tunes, a refreshing dose of positivity after their more sombre previous record Into The Raging Sea.

Favourite song: Dazed & Confused

9. Past // Present // Future - Meet Me @ The Altar

MM@TA have delivered a very solid debut record. One downside is the lack of easycore-style riffs and breakdowns (one of the main things that drew me to this band’s previous EPs) in favour of a more generic pop-punk sound - that said, all songs are plenty catchy and do a great job of showing off Edith’s vocal range, which is front and centre of this record.

Favourite song/s: Say It (To My Face) / It’s Over For Me

8. Childhood Eyes - Yellowcard

A big year for Yellowcard putting out their first new music since breaking up in 2016, and it delivers. It may just an EP but it's earned it's spot on the list and made me incredibly excited to see what else is on the way from this new era of Yellowcard. Also a collab with Dashboard Confessional? A Spider-Man 2 soundtrack reunion, you love to see it.

7. Slow Burn - Conquer Divide

One of the later albums from the year but I'm glad that I didn't miss this one - Conquer Divide have been something of a 'background band' for me up until now, but this is a record I found myself listening to front to back over and over.

6. One More Time - Blink-182

I have to confess I have mixed feelings on Blink-182's big comeback album - great to see Tom back in the band and the band back to their classic lineup, lots of great emotion on the title track. Maybe contro but I do think some of the non-single tracks feel a bit pale or watered down compared to the singles, but the singles themselves do have a lot of what I love from that classic Blink sound.

5. Postcard From A Living Hell - RedHook

RedHook were a new discovery for me this year, and a welcome one at that. This is one of those albums that soon as it came out I had on constant repeat, just banger after banger, not to mention a collab with Mik from Yours Truly; that gets a hell yeah from me.

Favourite song: Inarticulate ft. THE FAIM

4. Join The Club - As December Falls

One of my hottest anticipated releases of the year, As December Falls have come soaring this year, with this their third album and constantly selling out their tours (before i can get a ticket >:( ). Every single song on the tracklist is single worthy and the record makes no shortage of showing off Bethany's vocals, in particular on the emotionally driven 'Home.'

3. A Call To The Void - Hot Milk

After knocking out of the park time after time with their EPs, Hot Milk finally released their debut full-length and brought everything that's good about them to the table. From the very first listen I knew this was gonna be a strong contender for AOTY, and indeed was only beaten out by two others.

Favourite song: Alice Cooper's Pool House

2. The Surface - Beartooth

It should be no surprise to my followers seeing Toof pop up on the list, there truly never has been a Beartooth album that hasn't made my top ten and The Surface is no exception. Going against the grain of their MO up until now and releasing an entire metalcore album full of love and positivity was an incredible move, and wonderful to see Caleb find himself in a place where he can write this kind of lyrical content and celebrate his own journey overcoming mental health struggles. The Surface is a welcome addition to the Beartooth catalogue.

Before we get to the Number One, I'd like to shoutout some honourable mentions that didn't quite make the cut - those being 'Til The Wheels Fall Off - WSTR, Tear Me To Pieces - Story Of The Year, Power To Play - McFly, Untitled Mixtape - Carousel Kings and Linkin Park's 20th Anniverary Edition of Meteora

Also a special shoutout to Sum 41, Neck Deep and Green Day, for their singles off albums that will be released in '24. Good stuff.

With that all out of the way, let's get into my NUMBER ONE ALBUM OF 2023...

1. So Much (For) Stardust - Fall Out Boy

It was tough to crack down on the order of the top three here, but ultimately the number one album couldn't be anything else. I've made no secret that I'm not the biggest fan of the three FOB records prior to this, but here the boys return with a bang combining all that's good about both their pre-hiatus and post-hiatus sounds, resulting in an incredible record that has been definitive for my 2023. What more can I say? Fold Out Bed bloody did it.

And there you have it! Those are my top albums of 2023. We're already a fair way into '24 at the time I'm posting this and this year too is shaping up to have some strong contenders... bring it on.

WELL it definitely started as a "tee hee fun design" thing i cn tell you that much.. but it kind of evolved into giving elves a lot of catlike traits, i havent drawn a fullbody of fabian yet but i really want to give him a fluffy cat tail. maybe he has little peets who knows (i know & the answer is yes)

for the teeth specifically i thought it would be cool for fabian to have shark-like teeth bcs pirate = ocean = shark, also seems like the kind of thing bill seacaster would have. because its bill seacaster and he can do what he wants im still working on my adaine design but she has sharp teeth too yea :) more of fangs than shark teeth but toofs nonetheless

I was playing around with some FNAF SB models to get back into 3D animating and, apparently, Gregory canonly is missing a toof

I wonder if maybe this was a left over detail from a potential first encounter with Vanny that got cut out with the rest of Vanny’s stuff? Like Gregory has a cut on his face too that’s mooost likely a residue of that original idea (before we play as Gregory he encountered Vanny blah blah blah a lot of cut out stuff). Like ik he’s a kid so you don’t even need to question a missing tooth, but I think that would make it an even better subtle foreshadowing? Like oh he didn’t lose that naturally it’s actually a scrape with death he had

Ough…haunted library Toothigris au where Toof is a librarian at this very old library and is determined to summon the ghosts and paranormal creatures in said library. One day she finally succeeds and summons Verdigris, a past librarian who worked there and PLOT TWIST! Tooth Fairy was also a ghost who’s bound to this library this whole time, and was trying to test a theory she had. It seems that every librarian who’s worked here has died of unknown causes, so she wanted to investigate further on the phenomenon by using arcanum to make sure she became a phantom to stay lifelike and visible in ghosthood. Anywho, the library is cursed and the two investigate the deep dark depths of the old building (and there’s yuri when they’re just hanging out a bit in the main area at night).

OH, and maybe, yuri potential when Verdigris sorta floats around/follows Toof around in the library in the daytime, when the library’s open and it’s CUTE, okay? Yuri subtext, okay?
