No, gonna take part of that back. I created this side blog to post my rage-induced thoughts every 5 minutes, so I don’t lose my temper and hurt someone. Like really hurt someone.
Honestly, I only created this side blog to let go of some of all the anger and resentment I’ve build up at this point. Because apparently it’s not enough to just write it down anymore. And I guess it’s not socially acceptable to hit people. Or bite them. Real hard.
#talking to myself#either way it helps me not be consumed by rage#long live hate blogging#oh how I do wish you will always somehow both be too cold and too warm#may your left shoe always be wet#may your socks always be too big or too small#and may your charger never fit correctly#hate blogging#tumblr diary I guess#ranting always helps#rant

hiya!
flying in general is pretty safe so try not to worry to much about safety!
random tips i can think of are..
- bring a pair of warm socks in the cabin. some airlines will provide them (qatar does if i remember correctly), others don't (es. singapore airlines and etihad, air china too i think). you will most certainly take off your shoes and feet gets COLD.
- on the same topic: generally all airlines will provide at least a blanket and a pillow, i personally don't feel the need for an extra travel pillow but economy is indeed uncomfortable so it depends on what you prefer
- i always bring a small bag with me with everything i may need during the flight (passport, tickets, medicines, chargers, SOCKS LOL..) and i keep it underneath the seat in front of me (think about leg space tho, im pretty short), so that i will never have to get up and fetch my cabin bag. generally airlines allows you to bring a small handbag + your bigger cabin bag, but to be sure always make sure to be able to fit the small one inside the bigger one.
- [personal opinion] reclining your seat just a smidge does a lot in terms of comfort. mind you, i absolutely hate when people recline their seat too much (aka 9/10 the person in front of me :)) but if doing it just a little bit is totally acceptable, ia much more comfortable and doesn't bother the people behind you too much (again, im the one who's always pissed off by that, you can trust me)
- prepare some entertainment i guess.. music, offline games, a sketchbook.. you will have in-flight entertainment but it's good to have multiple choices
you're in good company so the most experienced one in your group will surely guide you through it. ^^
have a safe flight wherever your going and have fun!!
Thank you!!!! I plan on taking off my shoes so socks definitely sound important!!! I'm pretty short myself (I'm like 155cm) so I think leg room won't be a massive issue for me!!
We're allowed to take a bag and a carry on! We're not checking in suitcases so my clothes will be in my carry on! I think our airline will give us a blanket and pillow but I'm planning on wearing some jogging trousers and a thick hoodie to help more with feeling warm! I also checked what films they have and the only thing that interst me is Godzilla 😭 so I'll definitely be downloading some stuff!!! Hopefully all the things I have will make time fly by!!!

Charge Home Solutions: Your Expert Partner for EV Charger Installation
As the world shifts towards a greener future, electric vehicles (EVs) have become an integral part of reducing carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. With more people investing in electric vehicles, the demand for reliable EV charging infrastructure has never been higher. At Charge Home Solutions, we are committed to making the transition to electric vehicles smooth and seamless by offering expert EV charger installation services for residential and commercial properties. Our goal is to empower homeowners, businesses, and EV enthusiasts with convenient, safe, and efficient charging solutions that fit their specific needs.
EV charging is a critical component of owning an electric vehicle. Without a properly installed and functioning charger, your vehicle’s usability and convenience could be compromised. Charge Home Solutions is here to ensure that you can charge your electric vehicle reliably at home or in your workplace with high-quality, professionally installed charging stations. Whether you’re looking to install a simple home charger or need a larger, more complex setup for your business, we provide tailored solutions that cater to your unique requirements.
The Growing Need for EV Charger Installation
With the increasing popularity of electric vehicles, the need for accessible and reliable EV charging infrastructure has skyrocketed. As an EV owner, one of the most convenient ways to ensure your vehicle is always ready to go is by installing an EV charger at home. Public charging stations, while useful, are not always convenient, and their availability can be limited in certain areas. A home charging station eliminates the need to rely on public chargers and allows you to charge your vehicle overnight, ensuring it’s fully powered each morning.
Charge Home Solutions understands the importance of convenience for EV owners, which is why we specialize in EV charger installation for homes, businesses, and multifamily properties. Our team of certified electricians is experienced in installing a wide range of EV charging stations, ensuring that your charger is installed correctly and safely. Whether you own a Tesla, Nissan Leaf, BMW i3, or any other electric vehicle, we are equipped to handle the installation of your charger efficiently.
How EV Charger Installation Works
The installation of an EV charger requires careful planning and expertise. At Charge Home Solutions, we begin every project with a consultation to understand your specific needs and assess your property. We take into account the electrical capacity of your home or business, the location of the charging station, and the type of vehicle you own. Based on this assessment, we recommend the best charger for your needs and develop a customized installation plan.
Our expert electricians will then ensure that your charger is installed in compliance with all relevant safety standards and regulations. Installing an EV charger involves connecting it to your home or business’s electrical panel, and in some cases, this may require an upgrade to your electrical system to handle the additional load. Our team takes care of every detail, from ensuring the proper wiring and electrical connections to testing the charger to ensure it works perfectly.
Safety is always our top priority. We follow strict safety protocols during the installation process to protect you, your property, and your vehicle. Our team is highly trained and knowledgeable about the specific requirements of EV charger installation, and we guarantee that the job will be done right the first time.
Benefits of Installing an EV Charger at Home
Installing an EV charger at home offers several key benefits that can enhance your electric vehicle ownership experience. First and foremost, it provides unparalleled convenience. Instead of searching for public charging stations or waiting in line to charge your vehicle, you can simply plug it in at home whenever it’s convenient for you. Overnight charging ensures that your vehicle is ready to go each morning, eliminating the worry of running out of power during the day.
Another significant advantage is cost savings. Public charging stations often come with fees, and while these may be minimal, the costs can add up over time. Home charging is typically more affordable because you’re using your home’s electricity, which is often cheaper than the rates charged at public stations. Plus, many utility companies offer special rates for EV owners, allowing you to save even more on your energy costs.
Additionally, having an EV charger at home increases the value of your property. As electric vehicles become more popular, homebuyers are increasingly looking for properties that are equipped with EV charging stations. By investing in EV charger installation, you’re not only improving your own quality of life but also making your home more attractive to potential buyers in the future.
Choosing the Right EV Charger
When it comes to EV charger installation, one of the most important decisions is choosing the right type of charger for your needs. There are three main types of chargers available:
Level 1 Chargers: These chargers use a standard 120-volt outlet and are typically included with the purchase of an electric vehicle. While they are the most affordable option, they are also the slowest, typically taking 8 to 12 hours to fully charge a vehicle. Level 1 chargers are best suited for plug-in hybrid vehicles or for EV owners who don’t drive long distances each day.
Level 2 Chargers: These chargers require a 240-volt outlet and offer significantly faster charging times than Level 1 chargers, typically taking 4 to 6 hours to fully charge a vehicle. Level 2 chargers are the most popular choice for home installations because they provide a good balance between cost and charging speed. They are ideal for fully electric vehicles and are perfect for overnight charging.
DC Fast Chargers: These are the fastest chargers available, capable of charging a vehicle in as little as 30 minutes. However, they are also the most expensive and typically require a more complex installation process. DC fast chargers are best suited for commercial properties or businesses that need to provide rapid charging for multiple vehicles.
At Charge Home Solutions, we help you choose the right charger based on your driving habits, vehicle type, and budget. Our team will walk you through the options, explaining the benefits of each type of charger so that you can make an informed decision. Whether you choose a Level 1, Level 2, or DC fast charger, we ensure that the installation is done efficiently and safely.
EV Charger Installation for Businesses
In addition to residential installations, Charge Home Solutions also offers EV charger installation for businesses. As more companies focus on sustainability and reducing their carbon footprint, providing EV charging stations for employees and customers is becoming increasingly important. Installing EV chargers at your business not only demonstrates your commitment to sustainability but also helps attract and retain environmentally conscious customers and employees.
We work with businesses of all sizes to design and install custom EV charging solutions that meet their specific needs. Whether you need a single charger for your employees or a large-scale charging infrastructure for your customers, we have the expertise to deliver high-quality, reliable installations. Our team handles everything from site assessments and electrical upgrades to installation and ongoing maintenance, ensuring that your business is equipped to meet the growing demand for EV charging.
The Future of Electric Vehicles and Charging Infrastructure
As the adoption of electric vehicles continues to grow, the demand for charging infrastructure will only increase. At Charge Home Solutions, we are committed to staying at the forefront of this rapidly evolving industry. We keep up with the latest advancements in EV technology and charging systems to ensure that we can provide our customers with the best possible solutions.
The future of transportation is electric, and Charge Home Solutions is proud to be a part of this exciting transformation. Lost And Found
Grim and Max, finally, come to Swynlake.
Benedict Grimsby was awoken in the middle of the night by the piercing ring of his telephone. Normally, he would have let whatever telemarketer it was leave their shoddy voicemail about how his national insurance number had been released and go back to sleep.
But then the phone rang again. He let out a huff which then prompted Max to reply with a low woof from the other end of the bed. (That had been a war unfought. As soon as Max had stopped trying to scratch down Eric’s door and come to whine in Benedict’s room the invitation onto the bed had been a reluctant, Fine! But only for tonight.)
A hand reached across the sheets toward the harsh source of light sitting on the bedside table. He squinted at the phone screen when he had managed to pull it free of the charger. The area code was unfamiliar. Swynlake? Who would be calling him from there?
Benedict would have not bothered usually but it was the middle of the night and perhaps there was a bit of bitterness he wanted to get out for them having woken him up. “Hello?”
“Hello, sir, we’re sorry to call you at this hour. Are you Benedict Grimsby?”
“Yes.”
“We are calling about an Eric Andersen who was admitted here at the Swynlake General Hospital earlier tonight. It took us awhile to get his medical files forwarded to us, but you’re listed as his next of kin.”
He sat up slowly, pressing the phone closer against his ear. “I’m sorry, who’s there?”
“Eric Andersen?” There was the sound of papers shuffling before the woman spoke again. “White male. Born January 7th, 2001.”
“That can’t be right.”
“What?”
“I said that can’t be right,” he told her a little more forcefully. “Eric Andersen has been missing for over a year and a half. I don’t know who you have in your hospital, but it can't be him.”
“Well, I don’t know what else to tell you, sir. He was brought in by a Henry Charming who identified him.”
He could hardly believe what he was hearing. Two years ago he would have simply trudged down to whatever hospital, knowing full well that those two boys (but mainly Eric, since the Charming boy had always seemed to have more sense to him) had gotten themselves into trouble. But now, it just couldn’t be possible. Eric was dead. Not officially, but there had been no other survivors. Everyone had told him that there had been no chance. They were too far out for anyone, even an Olympic athlete in the best shape of their life, to have swam back to safety. He was gone.
If Eric had survived he would have called. He would have come back at some point— if not for Grim than for his dog.
“Sir?” the woman’s voice called him back from his thoughts. “Uh, Mr. Grimsby?”
“I’m here.”
“Right.” A beat. “Just in case this is your Eric Andersen, he’s in stable condition now. If you would like to see him, you can.”
“Could I speak to him?”
“He’s actually still under the anesthetic from surgery, but we can always call you back when he wakes up.”
“How long will that be?”
“There’s really no telling. Everyone responds to it differently and given the extent of his injuries it may be a while. A few hours at minimum.”
“Alright. Thank you.”
“Of course, sir.” He started to pull the phone away but she spoke again. “I’ll see you when you get here. Drive safe.”
The drive from Plymouth to Swynlake was supposed to have taken around 3 hours. For Benedict Grimsby, in the early hours of the morning when hardly anyone else was on the road and going well over the speed limit, it took him around 2 and a quarter.
There had been no time for him to think clearly about this whole ordeal— something that being the guardian of that wretched boy had taught him oh too well. He had packed a back blindly, hooked the harness around Max, and shoved them both into the car.
When he arrived at the hospital he didn’t know what to do with Max. He couldn’t very well leave him in the car. It may have been early morning before the sun had risen but it was still summer. So he took him on his harness into the building.
Luckily Henry Charming was there, accompanied by two girls that Grim did not recognize and didn’t care to at the moment. He put Max in their care and turned to find a nurse gesturing for him.
“Mr. Grimsby?” she asked as he approached, voice familiar. It took him a moment to place it.
“The nurse from the phone?” he countered and she smiled, nodding.
“Yes. I’m glad you’re here. Eric’s finally awake.” She turned to motion down the hall. “Would you like to go and see him now?”
The walk to the room had been all too short. He’d spent the whole drive there trying to convince himself to not get his hopes up. Benedict was a practical person. All Grimsby’s were.
But the Andersen’s had not been.
His friendship with Aiden had been forged out of a strong grip and obnoxious stubbornness to win Benedict over. It hadn’t been a miracle or an act of fate or some such nonsense people like to spin poetry around. They had been friends because Aiden had willed it into the world and Benedict had no choice but to grow fond of him.
Isla was not, by blood, an Andersen. When he had first met her she had been a Harrington. There was a steadiness to her that Aiden sorely lacked. Where he was made up of impulses and moved where he wanted, she had always been a pillar. She knew what she wanted and how she was going to go about getting it. And Aiden had followed her, all the way to the end.
That had left Eric, a product of both parts, with Grimsby.
Their will had been a shock to him. The lawyer had told him if he didn’t want to take responsibility then someone else would surely take the child. The Andersen’s had all passed, Aiden’s brother having gone long before him, but Isla still had family. He had contemplated the decision for a few days. It had been the practical thing to do, just as it would be to allow Eric to grow up among his family.
He did not know why he accepted custody. Perhaps because it had been his friends’ last wish and the knowledge that they had entrusted the life of their son to him.
There had always been doubt in the back of his mind that he was ill fit for the job. Every bruise and broken bone Eric had come back with had been allusions to this. What made it fact was when he had not come back at all.
A grand total of three Andersen’s had died on his watch. Now, one had returned and hadn’t even had the decency to call for the score to be settled.
In the time it took to get from the lobby to the hospital room he had not been able to really believe that he would find Eric inside.
But then the door opened and there he was, looking up from where he had been staring out the window. That ridiculous grin bloomed across his face, elbows moving clumsily against the cushions to help him sit up.
“Grim! You’re here!”
Benedict turned his attention to the nurse who was already making her way out of the room. The door shut behind him with a resonating click. He took slow and measured steps over to the bed.
“Look, I know you’re probably seething— and you’ve every right to be angry. I wanted to tell you. Every day! Every day I thought to myself, I need to call Grim, I need to tell him but I couldn’t.” Eric shook his head, the dark curls on his head bouncing. “How did you know I was here?”
Benedict didn’t answer, simply turned to focus on the leg that was wrapped up in bandages and sitting on a stack of pillows.
“Oh, it’s nothing.” Eric waved a hand at it. “They’re making a bigger fuss of it than necessary.”
His eyes traveled up to the various tubes attached to Eric’s arms. There were the usual suspects, an IV and medication. But the one for blood told him that the boy was lying, even if he didn’t realize it.
Whatever had happened to him had been serious.
And to think, he never would have known had Eric not been brought to a hospital.
A whole calendar year had passed and then some, and Eric had not bothered to say anything.
“Grim?” Benedict blinked, eyes meeting Eric’s. He looked uneasy. An unusual emotion to find on the boy who was always so sure, so confident, so stubborn. “I know it’s bad. I know. But— say something? Even if it’s only anger.”
It was true that Benedict felt anger but there was so much more there, too. Relief, hurt, happiness, utter devastation. He did not know which one to lean on first, which one could possibly hold control over all the others in order to choose the words in which to react. They were all so loud, so demanding, he could barely think with ease.
A hand rose and reached forward to touch Eric’s shoulder. It was solid. The corner’s of Eric’s mouth quirked upward and he brought his hand up to lay on top. It had always been so easy for him. He had constantly taken Benedict’s hand or thrown his arms around the man in a hug. It was always something, that constant line of unspoken communication that he was there.
Its absence had been staggering.
Its sudden return felt worse somehow. Like a mended bone needing to be broken again in order to heal correctly this time over.
All this time Benedict had been in mourning, trying to deal with the grief of the boy he thought to be dead. It had been killing him, slowly but surely. That reassuring touch seemed to be the reminder that the both of them were still alive.
His grip on Eric’s shoulder tightened, no doubt painfully so, and he leaned forward to capture the boy in a hug. It was only then that he felt Eric’s hesitation, how it took him several seconds to bring his arms up and around to return it. But once they were there and met with no resistance, he seemed to relax, clutching on just as tightly.
“I’m sorry, Grim.” His voice was quiet now, thick with emotion.
He pulled away, hands coming up to clutch either side of Eric’s face just to look at him. Alive. Breathing. Not dead, lost in the sea like everyone had said he was. His eyes were glassy and skin pale, but it was still the Eric he remembered.
Grim shook his head in disbelief, laughing until it tapered into a sob and he had to hug Eric to him all over again. “You really delight in these sadistic strains on my blood pressure, don’t you?”
Eric laughed then too, the sound of it watery and surprised. “Are you mad?”
“Oh, I think what I’m feeling goes far beyond the scope of the English language. Enjoy it now because in several days when I get over you not being dead, I will have plenty of anger left.” With a sigh he pulled away. “What happened?”
“It’s a long story.”
“You say that as if you’ve never used that excuse before.”
And so Eric told him everything. From top to bottom. About the wreck, getting saved, coming to Swynlake, getting a job, going to uni, telling Henry, avoiding Philip, Tom, and John like the plague, and getting attacked by a creature earlier that night.
“Or should I say yesterday?” Eric glanced over to the window where the sky’s dark inky blue had lightened. The sun had not come up just yet, but it was only a matter of minutes.
Grim didn’t say anything for a long time, having to mull all that information over in his mind. Again, there was too much emotion to deal with. He couldn’t remember a time he had felt so much and so many all in the span of a few hours.
“Grim?” He looked up to find Eric squinting at him. “Did I lose you somewhere?”
He shook his head. “No.”
“Then why do you look like that?”
“Like what?”
“I dunno— like you’re the one sitting in the hospital bed with a leg that’s just been used for a chew toy.”
Grim let out a breath through his nose. With one last look at Eric he sat up, getting ready to stand. “Thank you for telling me. It seems you’ve made quite a new life for yourself here.”
Eric watched, confused, as Grim stood. “Are you leaving?”
“Yes.”
“But— you just got here.”
“I know. I’m sorry.”
“Then why’re you going? I don’t understand.”
“Eric, had the hospital not called me tonight, would you have?”
Eric’s eyes drifted away from him then, falling on his hands that were fiddling with the blanket. “I don’t know.”
Grim nodded because he did.
“But—! You’re here now! Can’t you stay?”
“Why?”
“What’d’ya mean why?” Eric scoffed. “Because I want you to.”
“You didn’t want me here before.”
“Oh my god.” He rolled his eyes, arms lifting and falling heavily against the mattress. “Is that what you think? That I ran away from you?”
“No. But you seem to be doing just fine here all on your own.”
“I’m not! I wasn’t! I would’ve cracked a long time ago if it weren’t for other people. My boss, for one. My friends, too. I wouldn’t’ve gotten where I did if it weren’t for all of them.” Eric shook his head, one corner of his mouth raised up in a half smile. It disappeared after a moment when his eyes turned back on Grim. “And you. I wouldn’t be anywhere if it weren't for you.”
“That’s not true.”
“‘Course it is. What? You think 10 year old me could have done it all on his own?” Eric snorted. “Don’t be stupid.”
“Eric—”
“I’m sorry. That was rude, I know. Shouldn’t have said it.” He sniffled, swiping the sleeve of his hospital gown under his nose and making Grim cringe. “I know you’re the one who gets to be angry here and that I’ve no right to it since I hurt you but— but you can’t just go around saying that.”
Grim blinked.
He had seen Eric upset before. Several times over and in many different ways. Frustrated over his school work. Humiliated over something that had happened at training that had gotten him yelled at. Heart broken. Grieving. Name it, he had seen it— or he thought he had. But he had never seen this.
“After I didn’t say anything those first few months I knew that when I did tell you I had to have done something. Otherwise it would have just been like every other time I called you to come get me out of something. I wanted—” Instead of finishing his sentence a shuttery breath left him and that alone stretched the moment into eternity.
Finally Grim found enough courage to ask, “What did you want?”
Eric turned to look up at him, jaw working itself for a moment until he finally relented. “I wanted to be someone that you could finally be proud of. Not just some idiot kid who ruined your life when my parents made you take me.”
Grim understood then that all those other times, all those little moments when he thought he had failed Eric, this past year and a half he had thought there was nothing worse he could have done then allowed him to walk right to his own death— it’s absolutely nothing compared to the sound of those words.
“Oh, Eric. They didn’t make me do anything. It was my choice and I’ve never regretted it, or you, for a moment.” He stepped closer to the bed again. “And I’ve always been proud of who you are.”
Eric stared at him, searching. “Really? Even— even though I barely graduated from secondary?”
“Yes.”
“Even after I broke your client’s fancy vase that one time?”
“Yes.”
“Even after I brought home that pig?”
“I do hope you’re not referring to Max.”
“And—” Eric hesitated but eventually continued. “And even though I didn’t tell you I was okay?”
“Of course I am. I may not be happy about it and I may want to wring your neck for what you put me through this past year. And you may have gone about your pursuit for the truth in a very— unorthodox way, but, if what you’ve told me is true and you have accomplished all of this here, then, yes. Yes, I’m proud of you. I always have been.”
A familiar grin blossomed over Eric’s face that transformed it into something like the sunrise about to take place outside. It was so earnest and bright Grim could not help but smile in return. “Ah, Grim, I always tell people you’re a big softie, and no one ever believes me.”
“Good. I’d rather like to keep it that way.”
“So— this mean you’re staying?”
“If you want me to.”
“Always.” Eric reached out to clasp Grim’s forearm. He turned his head, a shoulder lifting. “And I mean, if you’re not going to disown me over this then there’s really nothing worse I can do, is there?”
“Don’t test it.”
“Believe me, Grim, I don’t think I could even if I wanted to.” He tugged on Grim’s arm until he was seated back in his chair. “You’re going to love this place! Don’t worry, it’ll be great.”
Grim nodded. Odd how easy it was to slip back into their respective roles. How Eric made even the most complex of situations such as this one sound so simple. For now, Grim supposed he could believe him. “I’m sure it will.”
A pause.
“Hey Grim? Did you bring Max?”

A Road to Somewhere, Chapter 1 (Adore Delaska) - Puppy
A/N: So, I’ve been wanting to write a Spirited Away AU for some time, so here we are. Spirited Away is my favorite Studio Ghibli film (plus the first one I ever saw) and I thought it would work in this setting.
I would like to thank @thackeryisatop and @chaoticnachokitten for helping me beta. Also thanks to @chaoticnachokitten for helping me with final casting.
I hope you all enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing this first chapter.
Chapter 1
Spanish Translations for Chapter 1:
“Ojalá que sobrevivan” - “I hope they survive”
“Puedo abrir la ventana?” - Can I open the window?
“Mierda” - “shit”
“Mija” - “my daughter”
~~
The jolts of the car startled her out of possibly one of the best naps she’d ever taken. Besides, it was the snake dream again, so it wasn’t anything new. Adore blinked herself awake and stared out the window and directly into the sun. It was so bright that she could barely see a thing. She couldn’t tell if they had left California or not, and she didn’t want to ask her mother if they were there yet. That kind of shit doesn’t fly now that she was a thirteen year old girl, practically an adult in her perspective. From the likes of it, it seemed that they had driven for 5 hours, yet the drive didn’t feel like it was getting any shorter.
Her phone was nearly dead and her mom had the charger at the moment, so there wasn’t any use trying to get some more juice on it. No one wanted to look at her updates on the trip. Heck, even Ganja was probably too busy with Gia and couldn’t be bothered with their own things to pay attention to her. They’ve probably been to San Francisco before; it wasn’t anything new. In the meantime, she just stared at the bouquet of flowers Laganja was thoughtful enough to buy.
“I’ll miss you, Adore. Until we meet again.” The messages on the card read with Laganja’s signature following it.
She appreciated the sentiment. She really did, but it seemed to her that they could’ve done more than just carnations. She was almost surprised that the flowers had survived this long considering the heat. The whirring of the engines and the occasional voice from the GPS kept her from napping any longer. “Moooom?” Adore groggily maneuvered herself within earshot of the woman driving the car.
“We have about an hour left. I think you can handle it. Now get back in the back, Dory.”
She sighed and sulked in her original spot. “I really don’t see why now was a good time to move. Azusa was, like, the bomb.”
“Me neither, but think on the bright side. There won’t be as many knife fights and we might get a cat at the new house. And your cousin says the middle school is great. You’d fit in well, I hear.”
“But Ganja won’t be there…” She whined, leaning back a little farther and scaring herself with the crinkling of plastic. “FUCK!”
“Watch your language.”
She whined. “SHIT! They’re all sad now.”
Bonnie glanced in the rearview mirror at her daughter and a newly crumpled bouquet of flowers. “Maybe you shouldn’t have smothered them.”
“Someone finally sends me flowers, and it’s for this. Great. They’re probably gonna die before we even get there.” Adore never doubted the California heat; that was an apt excuse for her pessimism, right? On top of everything else that had happened today, her gift wilting away into nothingness would be a perfect ending to this already hellish day.
“Ojalá que sobrevivan. We’ll put them in water as soon as we can.”
“Ma? ¿Puedo abrir la ventana?”
“Sure,” Bonnie responded. “Hold onto the card,” she shouted over the sounds of the wind blasting into the small car, “You don’t wanna lose it!” Her daughter took that word to heart and shoved the note in her jean shorts’ pocket. They’d be at the new house sooner than later if she took another nap, but it felt like something out there was keeping her awake.
It must have been that same force that subtly influenced Bonnie to avoid the GPS and swerve into a wrong turn, thrusting the seat belt-less Adore to the other side of the car. Thankfully, she was unharmed.
Bonnie cursed in Spanish before slowing down her drive. “I must’ve missed the turn. Mierda. On the bright side, I think there’s a rest stop up ahead so you can stretch your legs or do whatever it is you need to.”
“What’s with all those rocks? They look like houses.” Adore poked her head out of the window to get a better view, her Ariel red hair whipping behind her.
“Never mind. At least we made it.” Her mother parked the car and stepped out. The more the two looked around, the less it seemed like a normal rest stop. There weren’t any park benches or vending machines; hell, there weren’t any other people besides them. It was simply the Delanos, the forest, the road, and the structure ahead of them. “Ah… now I got it. This probably used to be some tourist trap in the early eighties.”
“Why’d people stopped coming?” Adore wondered as she observed the framework of the building. Maybe it’s the fact it’s in the middle of the fucking woods, Adore. She blinked as a voice in the back of her head answered her rhetorical question. “Y’know what? Screw it, I’m going in!”
Bonnie grabbed her hand, halting her daughter in the process of rushing through the entrance. “No you’re not.”
“Come on, I just wanna look at it. Only for a few minutes!” The redhead whined as she wiggled her hand out of her mother’s grasp. “I’ll be, like, right there and back…”
“I’m… gonna call the movers. Tell them we’re gonna be late and-” Before she could finish her sentence, Adore ran into the tunnel. “Let’s hope they have a key.”
The teen stopped and looked behind her. She could barely see her mother on the phone as she was washed out by a pool of light. The tunnel felt longer than she expected, as she never fully felt like she reached the middle. A breeze blew behind her, urging her to go forward. It may have been strong enough to blow her over, but it felt gentle in places too. If Adore was to fall, the wind would probably catch her and set her on her way. She scoffed and went on her way, faster as the wind pushed her.
This place wasn’t like any other tourist trap that she had encountered before. It was mostly a field with a small collection of buildings far off in the distance. From what Adore could see of the buildings, they were foreign in nature - Japanese, probably considering California’s history. An old straw hut struggled to stay upright at the wind, decorated with dandelion seeds from a far off field. The cobblestone she was standing on eventually gave way to a dirt path towards the infrastructure. A clock tower stood on top of the structure behind her: dormant, yet imposing. A little farther down the path, there was a collection of rocks. Bonnie shortly caught up to her and they both took in the view.
“Damn… we should’ve brought a picnic.” Adore muttered off-handedly. As if on cue, a savory smell wafted through the air.
“Come to think of it, I am starving. Let’s see if there’s something up ahead.” The two women went on their way down the path and towards the little uphill town. “They were probably going to put a river there,” Her mother pointed to the rocks, “Would’ve been neat.”
Adore followed suit, becoming more aware of the noise of the footsteps. The more she traveled down that path, the less she wanted to stay. The less she felt wanted. However, she hadn’t eaten in a couple of hours so it was worth it. She had enough energy to hop up the stairs without tripping.
When they entered the town, it was mostly deserted. There were definitely sounds of action and evidence that people had been there before. Occasional piles of bones stacked on top of plates from previous customers and some orange peels had been scattered around the ground. “Are any of these still open? It’d be a dick move to come in, like, fifteen minutes before they close.” Adore wondered aloud before, as if by magic, the two arrived at a buffet. There were a few catches though. From what they could see, there was no one at the kitchen or at the cashier’s. “Maybe they’re on a break?” she continued, but her mother ignored her.
“Mija, you’ve got to try this!” Bonnie shoved a forkful towards her daughter, who stepped away
“I don’t think I oughta. Also… vegetarian, remember?.” Her mother ignored her as she scarfed down whatever was in front of her. Adore didn’t care how good it looked, she didn’t want to eat it.
“This is the only time we’re gonna have anything of quality before we get to the house. Come on, you’ve gotta have something… When was the last time we ate? Breakfast?”
“Yes, but isn’t this, like, kinda stealing? There’s nowhere that specifically says ‘all-you-can-eat’!”
“Don’t worry about it,” Bonnie said with a mouthful of chicken, “I’ve got credit cards and cash. I’ll pay when someone gets back.”
Adore just scoffed and wandered off while her mother engorged herself with whatever was in front of her. They were going to be here for a while, so she’d might as well get a feel for the place. She glanced at the empty shops as she walked, hoping that another one that was more her speed was open and manned properly; however, she had no money so she was basically screwed. The redhead trudged her way up another flight of stairs towards a sign. She couldn’t quite make out what it said, but it didn’t really matter. She turned to her left and gasped, noticing a building she hadn’t seen before.
“Wha?” Adore blinked to see if she was seeing it correctly. It looked like a traditional bathhouse. There was some steam or smoke coming from a chimney-stack, so there had to be some people inhabiting this ghost town. “That’s strange…” she pondered. If so, why weren’t they out and about? What was so great about the saunas that everything else needed to be neglected? She grabbed a ponytail holder and put her hair up into a messy updo and approached the bathhouse.
As soon as she was about halfway across, she was startled by a sudden rumbling of the bridge and a crossing train, or at least the sound of it. “I… guess there’s a station nearby.” She talked to herself before speed-walking to the other side to see it cross. She hopped up onto a railing and leaned forward to get a better look. The farther the train was out of sight, the more cautious she was becoming. It was as if someone, or something, was watching her every move the moment she came to the bridge. When Adore stepped down from the railing, her suspicions were confirmed.
A girl who looked about her age (perhaps a little older) stared at her, gasping as Adore made eye contact with her. It was as if she had run into an old friend. She had blonde hair that went to her mid-back and was slightly taller than her with a fairer complexion than her. There was something definitely odd about the lady, but she couldn’t quite place it. The two stared at each other for a bit as the sun began to sit behind them. There was something familiar about her, but too familiar. There was no time to focus on formalities though.
“You shouldn’t be here, you know,” The blonde charged towards Adore.
“Wait what? Why?”
“No time to explain. It’s getting dark.” She increasingly grew more panicked, pushing Adore farther and farther down the bridge. “You should leave. NOW.” It was nearly too late for words now. The sun was setting faster by the second and lamps began to light behind them. She collected herself for a moment and whispered in Adore’s ear, “I’m sorry, but I have to do this. I’ll distract them so you can get away faster. The woman then pushed her towards the last stretch of the bridge at the edge of the staircase.
Adore looked back at the woman. She couldn’t quite understand what she was doing, but she noticed something come from the other girl’s hands. They looked like flower petals… or scales, perhaps. She wasn’t close enough to fully determine the material. “Bitch didn’t have to push me though…” she mumbled to herself before running off to find her mother again.
She called her as loud and as frequently as she could. Her voice could’ve given out at any moment without hesitation. Thankfully, the redhead was able to determine her location; it seemed like anyone could hear the sounds of her chewing no matter where they were. “Ma! Ma! Ma! Ma! Ma! Ma!” She tugged on her mother’s arm, but she didn’t budge, “We gotta go! We gotta go! It’s getting dark! I don’t wanna be here anymore! I’m-” Before she could apologize any more, she witnessed the hand she was holding turn into a cloven hoof. The face that then faced her wasn’t human. Adore stared at her mother’s bovine features as she stepped back. “Mom…” She remained frozen in place as the pig that sat in her mother’s face continued to gobble at whatever was in front of her.
There was something grotesque about her mother being treated like that. A frog-like spirit appeared from behind the counter and beat the pig with a flyswatter as if she was some common pest. Adore covered her ears as she heard the pleading squeals from the sow that used to be her mother. She jumped when Bonnie eventually fell down. There was nothing she could have done at this point. Many more spirits surrounded Adore, signalling the human to run for her life. She had clearly seen enough in one day.
The girl remembered her path the best that she could. She spotted the clock tower in the distance; she knew the exit was closer than she thought. Adore ran down the steps, nearly tripping over her own feet. She could have been seriously injured if not for the body of water that caught her. For a split second, she wished she could have sunk to the bottom of the makeshift lake, or at least she’d become a mermaid and swim to safety. Alas, she couldn’t swim that fast and she couldn’t even drive yet. She was simply stuck.
She came face to face with an oncoming riverboat. For all she knew, it could have been manned by ghosts as well. She was able to make out a few figures at it reared closer to shore. It was almost like Noah’s Ark in a sense that the inhabitants were mostly animal spirits. They were conversing; she could overhear bits of small talk. It was like they couldn’t even notice the sopping wet human off in the distance.
Adore crouched down and curled herself into a ball. This had to be a dream, right? She hoped she was still in the car drooling over her shirt and covered in the petals from Laganja’s wilting flowers. She and her human mother would be at the house by now, and she’d get around to settling in her room with a phone at full charge. She rocked back and forth with her head in her hand. “Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck! Wake up, goddammit!” Adore slapped herself. “Just go away…” She muttered after calming down. She realized soon enough how poor of a word choice that was.
As she attempted to shield her eyes from the boat’s lights, it was all in vain. She could see the boat through her hand. In time, the boat docked and the animals disembarked while continuing their conversations. As soon as they touched the land, something strange happened. They transformed into more humanoid states. Some of the spirits still had hints of their true forms though. There were ones with beaks and webbed fingers; some still had their original ears and tails as well.
Adore quickly backed away into a corner, hoping to not be noticed. Although it wasn’t like she was going to due to her current state. She crawled up a hill when she was fully out of the procession’s line of sight. When she went to a haven of safety, she crawled back into a ball. All she felt like doing more than anything was to fully disappear into the nothingness that surrounded her. She was taken out of her daze by someone tapping on her shoulder. Adore jumped slightly and turned towards the touch; it was the girl again.
“Don’t worry. I’m trying to help here.” She shoved a berry towards Adore’s lips. “Please. Eat this. You need to eat something from this world in order to stay in this world.”
“Aren’t you gonna apologize for fucking pushing me?” Adore tried to push her back in retaliation, but it was no use. She had simply passed through.
“Alright, I might have been a bit harsh. Are you going to eat this or not? I promise it won’t turn you into a pig.”
The redhead opened her mouth, letting the berry fall into her mouth. She chewed as her face twisted, reacting to the taste. It was a little tart for her taste and not very filling, but if she needed to eat to save her life, then so be it. Her shoulders dropped, becoming less tense. She didn’t know why, but she felt so much calmer around this stranger.
“There we go,” The blonde held her hand and squeezed it lightly, “You’re here. You’re alive. You’re okay.” Her touch felt strange to Adore. Her hands were rough, but not calloused. It was as if they were covered in something other than skin. Scales perhaps? She was cautious enough not to rub the wrong way.
“I’m okay,” she parroted back at the woman.
“You see? Now, come with me.”
“Wait!” Adore yanked the standing girl’s arm, bringing her back down to eye-level. The blonde sat down and listened attentively. “What about my mom? She didn’t really turn into a pig, right?” She asked as if she didn’t see her transform in front of her. Hopefully, this was merely a trick of the eye or her brain was making her see things from fatigue. It had already been a long enough day; the last thing she wanted to do was cry.
“You’ll get to see her soon enough, but not right now.” She put a hand on her shoulder, but quickly stopped herself. There was danger lurking around and she could sense it. “Fuck,” she muttered under her breath, pulling the human into her and shielding her body from the force that followed her. “Don’t move.” Adore couldn’t help but stare upward.
There was a large black bird, no bigger than a vulture, circling the area. The strangest thing about it was the head. Instead of a beak and feathers, it was a shrunken human head. She couldn’t quite make out what or who the head was supposed to resemble, but the face didn’t seem happy. After a few more swoops, she clung to the person, enjoying her protective nature and the touches.
“I think we’re good. Let’s go.” The woman attempted to bring the young human to her feet, but couldn’t. It was like her legs refused to move.
“Oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no…” Adore hyperventilated, but was quickly shushed.
“Calm down. Take a breath. Can you do that for me?” Adore nodded her head while the mysterious woman smiled. “Lemme… do this real quick. In the name of the waters and earth beneath me, unbind this girl from the land.” Her hands glowed a radiant white and Adore stood up, as if by magic.
“That thing is probably after you. We have to get you out. Now.” Before she could properly thank her rescuer, the magical woman gripped her palm and started to run.
And off they went.

The intern | 6: Morning mess
GIFS NOT MINE. THIS IS ALL FICTION. Genre(s): intern!au / fluff / mild angst Group(s): NCT / Red Velvet Pairing(s): Moon Taeil x fem!reader Summary: The new Elysion Publishings intern is the youngest they ever had. It’s not a problem until she grabs the attention of the IT guy. Warning(s): Age-gap of five years [Masterlist] [Mini masterlist]
“Okay, so, it may not be the cleanest at the moment. I had a busy week and no time to clean”, says Taeil before opening the front door.
He lets me go in first before locking the front door behind us before taking off his shoes and opening the door connecting the hall and the living room.
A fluffy thing sneaks between the crack of the door and rushes towards Taeil. A big smile spreads on his face as he is petting the walking cloud.
“Ah~ Bong Bong-ie. Did you miss me?”, he questions the dog while squishing her cheeks. Bong Bong licks his hands as a response while waggling her tail. She really reminds me of Peanut.
Bong Bong suddenly turns her attention towards me and I smile, dropping down to pet her. She walks hesitantly towards, sniffing my outstretched hand.
Bong Bong looks me up and down, before turning towards Taeil, giving him the ‘are you serious’ look. He nods slightly and Bong Bong turns her head towards me, lunging at me and smothering me with little licks all over my face.
I let out a squeal and fall backwards, my back hitting the door and my butt landing on the ground. Bong Bong stands over me as she sniffs all over my face and especially in my ear.
“Bong Bong!”, scolds Taeil his dog as he off me by her collar.
As I stand up and brush the dog hairs off my clothes and butt, I say, “don’t worry. I’m used to dog-kisses and sniffles.” I smile and undo the ties of my sneakers, placing them neatly in the reck next to Taeil’s other shoes.
“Let me grab you an extra pair of slippers. Feel free to roam around, I’ll be right back”, he tells me before speeding off, the sound of footsteps hurrying up a pair of stairs being very loud through the apartment.
I walk further in and look around in amazement.
When you walk in, you look right at the amazing view the enormous window give of this little part of Seoul. Taeil has his tv-stand against the windows and the couch facing them.
Behind the couch is a relatively big kitchen for an apartment in Seoul. He has the basic appliances like the fridge, stove, and microwave against the wall as the sink is on the other side in a kitchen island with bar stools, the dinner table behind that.
“Amazing view, right?”, says Taeil with a smile in his voice as he walks down the stairs, which probably lead towards his bedroom.
I turn around with a big grin. “It’s wonderful. Your house is just great overall.”
His ears turn slightly red as he walks towards me with a pile of clothes and fluffy slippers on top of them. “I also fetched you some clothes to sleep in. The bathroom is next to the front door, left.” He points at the hallway and I smile, taking the pile of clothes from him and I walk towards the bathroom.
Bong Bong follows me as I get into the bathroom and lays on the floor with her head between her front paws, her eyes following my every move.
I let out a giggle when I put on the baseball shorts and sweater as they’re a bit too big for me, just like the slippers.
Once I emerge from the bathroom followed by the fluffy cloud, Taeil already has grabbed a pillow and blankets and made up a makeshift bed on the couch.
He looks up when he hears the scuffing of the slippers against the floor. He blinks a couple times as he sees me, his mouth slightly agape.
“Something... wrong?”, I ask concerned and look down, making sure I’m wearing the clothes correctly and nothings crooked or ruined.
“Yeah... Eh─ no. Anyways, I made you a bed on the couch because I knew if I would offer my bed, you would refuse and throw a fit until you finally would sleep on the couch.”
I giggle and fluff up the pillow. “You know me too well.”
“Well, if you need something, just ask, okay?”, Taeil says with raised eyebrows as I nod.
“Actually”, I say and stop him from turning around. “Do you maybe have an extra charger for my phone? I accidentally left mine at home this morning and it’s almost dead”, I say, scratching the back of my neck while pressing on the home button, a huff leaving my lips as I see there’s only twenty per cent left.
“Of course”, smiles Taeil and walks towards the tv-stand, grabbing a charger out of one of the baskets and plugging it in the wall next to the couch.
“Here you go”, he smiles and gives me the end and I take it, thanking him while plugging my phone in.
“Goodnight, (Y/n)”, says Taeil with a tired smile before walking up the stairs.
“Sleep tight, Taeil”, I reply and take place on the couch.
I sigh deeply and let the events of today replay in mind. A deep blush creeps on my face again as I think of how closely Taeil and I have been today.
I feel my heart rapidly beat in my chest and lay a hand on top of it. Don’t do this now, heart. I am not ready for that.
Once the first rays of sunshine come through the blinds, they hit my bare legs which peaked out underneath the blanket, spreading a comfortable warmth across them. A wet tongue licks all over my cheeks and I groan, turning away so I lay on my back and I place an arm over my eyes.
Bong Bong nudges me again and I turn my head, raising my eyebrows at the walking cloud. She looks at me before turning around and walking towards the front door, scratching it as a sign she wants out.
I let another soft groan and look up towards the second floor balustrade, searching for any sign of Taeil.
I get up from the make-shift bed, the blanket falling on the ground next to the slippers. I shove my feet into them and yawn, stretching my arm above my head and crack my shoulder joints, wincing at the sound of my bones popping.
I walk over towards the stairs and quietly climb up, peering over the edge to see if Taeil’s awake. But what I see is a very cutely sleeping Taeil, curled up in a ball and hugging his pillow.
I chuckle softly, my mind wondering if he would engulf me the same if we would cuddle.
No! Bad (Y/n)! Bad thoughts! No time for crushes and fluffy thoughts.
I shake my head, quickly walking down the stairs before I get any more crazy thoughts.
While pulling on my sneakers, I search around for Bong Bong’s lease and a spare pair of keys to take with me.
After some snooping around, I find them both and exit the apartment, Bong Bong happily pattering next to me as I push in my earphones and playing some lo-fi playlist, skipping down the stairs as I slide my phone into the pockets of the baseball shorts.
I quickly find the park nearby and walk around, letting Bong Bong do her deeds before returning back.
When I enter again, the apartment is still dark so I just assume Taeil’s still asleep. Jeez, what a sleepy boy.
After releasing Bong Bong from her lease and putting on the slippers again, I walk towards the kitchen and begin to cook up some breakfast for the both of us.
My phone plings, notifying me I have a message and I look.
I take another peek upstairs and see that he’s still asleep, only this time he lays flatly on his belly, his cheeks mushed against the mattress and hair in his eyes.
Deciding that I will wait until he’s up to eat, I grab my laptop and get stationed at one of the barstools, pulling my headphones out of my backpack and finishing some freelance stuff I’ve been working on.
After around half an hour, I think, I hear footsteps coming down the stairs and I look up with a smile.
“Oh, you’re awake”, he says, his voice coarse from just waking up as he rubs his eyes.
I giggle softly as I look at my phone for the time. “Only since eight am”, I say and Taeil turns around, looking at the clock which shows that it’s currently half-past nine.
Taeil frowns. “Something happened?”
I shake my head with a smile. “Nothing big. Bong Bong just wanted to go for a walk.” I look at the dog that lays at my feet and pet her fluffy ears.
His cheeks head up. “I am so sorry. Bbong-ie is a princess sometimes and when she wants a walk, she wants it now.”
A giggle escapes my lips as I slide off my chair, onto my knees and squish Bong Bong’s cheeks together. “And right you are, little princess.”
Taeil is at loss of words as he watches me interact with his dog. In his eyes, the cutest thing ever.
“You really adore dogs, don’t you”, he says, smiling softly and squads down while scratching behind Bong Bong’s ear, her head leaning to the side.
“Well, I told you I have dogs back home and I just miss them. So Bong Bong gets double the affection I would normally give a dog.” I face Taeil and he nods slowly, probably recalling what I said last night.
“Yeah, a Beagle and a Frenchie, right?”
I nod and get up, feeling the blood slowly flowing back into my legs. “Yup. Also, by the way, I made breakfast.” I point towards the table and he turns around, wonder fill his eyes.
“You... you made breakfast?”, he questions while walking towards the table, looking around the different foods on the table.
“I hope I made it correctly. To be frank, I have never eaten a Korean breakfast.” I scratch the back of my head. “Google said this is typical so... enjoy?”
Taeil takes place on the table and I sit on the chair in front of him, watching his face carefully.
“This is... this is absolutely amazing, (Y/n)!”, he exclaims, taking the chopsticks in his hands and immediately digging in. “Holy damn”, he mumbles with a full mouth. “This is so good, oh my god.” He holds a hand in front of his mouth as his eyes roll back in delight.
A blush creeps on my face and I also begin to eat. My eyebrows raise as it is indeed pretty good.
“But what do you eat in the morning then?”, questions Taeil when he grabs his cup of coffee.
“Hmm...”, I hum, “back home I eat a bowl of yoghurt with sprinkles, strawberries in the summer when my mom gets them. Or toasted bread with cheese, if I’m lazy some Nutella or so.”
“Can you function on only pudding?”
As I nod, I stuff a fried egg in my mouth. “I would eat something again around ten so it’s not that bad”, I shrug.
“At school?”
A hum leaves my lips. “My first break of the three.”
Taeil smiles and leans with his chin on his hand, a chuckle leaving his lips. “It’s funny how I’ve heard you talk so much about your home and friends, but almost nothing about your parents. Why’s that?”
I lick my lips. “My mom and I are really close. I can talk to her about anything and nothing is too weird. But with my dad...” A sigh leaves my lips. “I love him and he really loves me, we just have similar personalities and that clashes at times.”
Taeil reaches across the table and grabs my hand, rubbing circles on the top. “It’s okay if you don’t want to tell.”
I give him a sad but thankful smile, squeezing his hand before releasing it, running a hand through my hair.
“Okay, happier subject. What are you going to do today.” Taeil claps his hands together, sending me a smile.
“Firstly, I am going to do my groceries. I’m almost out of toilet paper and cereal. And then, around one, I’m gonna hang out with a friend of mine.”
“Mind if I tag along with you?”, he asks and I raise my eyebrows. “The grocery shopping”, he quickly adds, a chuckle in his voice.
“Sure, I guess. But we have to drop by my house so I can change in something more appropriate for the public eye.”
Taeil’s eyes look at my appearance in his oversized clothes. “I think you look great.”
I look away with a slight smile. “Yeah sure. I can’t keep walking around in your sweater all day─”
“─I don’t mind”, he cuts me off, a blush tinting his face.
My own cheeks also heat up and I chew on my bottom lip. “We’re... I can’t do that...”, I whisper.
He licks his lips, the air between us awkward before nodding. “Yes, you are right. Let’s just drop by your place so you can change.”
The car ride to my apartment and the walk towards the supermarket has been filled with silence and secretive glances.
As we’re standing still in front of a red traffic light, I turn towards Taeil and grab his arm. “I am sorry for what I said earlier. You’ve been nothing but nice to me and I screw it by being rude.” I look away and swallow, letting my hair fall in front of my face.
Taeil pushes the veil of thick hair away with a soft smile. “It’s okay, really. I understand. I mean... we’re not together so it was not right of me to suggest such thing.”
The traffic light turns green and we start to walk again with the mass of people, my hands still wrapped around his arm and his hands stuffed in the pockets of his jeans.
“Well... I mean, it’s not like I would mind wearing your sweaters. It’s just that I was looking like a mess and my words just came out wrongly and...” I bite my lip while searching for his eyes, which are settled on the traffic light.
“You looked beautiful, this morning”, says Taeil bluntly. “You always do.”
My lips part slightly and I blink. I totally lost my ability to speak with his sudden found confidence. My heart flutters and skips a couple beats.
“Oh. Well... thank you.”
We finally reach the supermarket and I pull out a cart, signalling for Taeil to sit in it.
“What pfff hahaha no”, he laughs loudly, “shouldn’t I be the one pushing you around?”
I scoff while smiling. “The next time, okay?”
“Oh, so there will be a next time?”, he teases and leans against the cart, a slight grin adorns his pretty face.
“Just get in, you dork”, I grumble with a heavy blush on my cheeks as he climbs into the cart, sitting cross-legged.
“Off to the life support, my humble carriage pusher”, he jokes, stretching out his arm and pointing towards the alcohol aisle.

A Time Like No Other
Chapter 29
Minhyuk
A few weeks had passed since Misun and Minhyuk had made it back from visiting her family. They had a small break in between their European leg of the tour.
Minhyuk rolled over in bed and was attacked by the sunlight that was beaming in through his window. He groaned loudly and hurried up to shut his curtains.
His phone pinged a few times. He wondered who would be trying to reach him at 8 in the morning. He and Misun hadn’t really gotten too far because they both feared the consequences that lingered over their heads.
He snatched his phone off the charger and held it close to his face. He didn’t have his contacts in and he had lost his glasses from the night before.
Are you in the mood for coffee?
With me?
I’m paying (:
Minhyuk blinked a few times to make sure he was reading the messages correctly. He was honestly surprised.
Jooheon burst in. “Why are you still in bed?” He chuckled.
“Am I supposed to be doing anything else? We don’t have a schedule, do we?” His eyes bucked as if he may have forgotten something.
Jooheon snatched him up. “Get dressed. I hear you have a coffee date!”
Minhyuk raised an eyebrow. His uneven blinking became more apparent. “How do you even know about that?”
“What can I say? My girlfriend tells me everything.” He pulled an outfit out for Minhyuk. “Now get dressed, dammit!”
“I haven’t even agreed to go, Jooheon.” He rolled his eyes and stared at the clothes on his bed that were laid out.
Jooheon sighed. “Why the fuck not? I’m so sick of y’all. You like her, right?”
Minhyuk just stared at him. “Y-“
“No, you love her so why the hell are you not with her? Shownu didn’t give her up so you could just do this! Which is absolutely nothing!”
Minhyuk’s eyes widened. Jooheon had never spoken to him this way. He was a bit thrown off. “I just don’t want things to be awkward between everyone, plus I know she still has feelings for Shownu.”
“So the fuck what? She’ll probably always have some sort of connection with him but they both have agreed on being friends and that’s what they honestly are better as. That woman loves you and if you can’t see that then you’re just blind and dumb!” Jooheon was heated at this point. He was tired of sitting back and not saying anything. Someone needed to talk some sense into both of them and that’s exactly what he was doing.
Misun
Nori rolled her eyes at Misun. “I don’t know why you’re so damn stubborn!”
“I texted him, gosh. I don’t know why you’re so interested anyway.” Misun argued.
Nori grabbed her chin to gain her attention. “Because I care about you. Can you honestly tell me that you don’t want to be with that man?”
Misun shrugged. “It’s not that, sis.” She pouted.
“Then what is it, MiMi?!” She grabbed her sister’s hand.
“I wanna be with him so bad but I also know that Shownu isn’t over me. I just don’t want to make Shownu feel bad or like I’m choosing Minhyuk over him. I love the hell out of Shownu which is why we don’t need to be together. We just weren’t a good fit but we’re perfect as friends.” Misun admitted.
Nori pulled her into a hug. “Misun! No don’t do that. Shownu is fine. He wants you to be happy and he wants Minhyuk to be just as happy. He’s going to be okay but you have to start being a little selfish, boo.”
Misun sighed. “I’m just overthinking things. And he hasn’t even texted me back. Minhyuk probably doesn’t even like me anymore. He doesn’t even talk to me that much.” She was second guessing everything at this point. Shownu was the safer choice and maybe she should’ve just stuck that out.
Nori smiled. “Maybe he’s sleep still, if so just go for lunch.”
“I doubt he will even respond.”
Her phone pinged.
Sure. Meet you in thirty minutes. have to shower.
Misun’s heart stopped for a moment. “He actually agreed.” She clutched her chest.
“Told you. That man adores you. He always has.” Nori kissed her cheek and handed her the keys to the car that their company bought for them to use.
Minhyuk
Minhyuk waited outside the coffee shop for a moment. He had to gather his thoughts. He watched fiddle with her hair through the window. How beautiful she was and she didn’t realize it most of the time. He had been in love with her for so long but never actually thought he’d get any sliver of a chance with her. Now that the chance was here, he was acting like a frightened kid to even take the chance.
He took a deep breath and finally walked in. The jingle from the door startled him a bit. His nerves were on edge.
She gave him a shy smile as she watched him walk over to the table.
“I went ahead and ordered you a iced americano. You can order something else if you’d like though. I just thought I seen you drinking one the other day-“ she rambled off from nerves.
He chuckled and opened his straw. “This is fine.”
She took a deep breath. “I’m really shocked that you’re here.” She admitted.
He raised an eyebrow. “I’m shocked that you invited me.”
Her smile faded. “Why?”
He smirked a bit. “I was kind of feeling like you had changed your mind about me.”
“Why would you feel that way?”
Minhyuk took a deep breath. “Because you still love Shownu and it’s obvious.”
“Well that’s not fair. Of course I still love him and I always will but I’m not in love with him.” She attempted to reassure him.
“I just don’t want to feel like it’s a competition to keep your attention.”
She sipped her cappuccino. “When have I ever made you feel like you’re conpeting with him?”
“When you seen him eating dinner with Elle?! Oh you forgot, right?”
“Our breakup was fresh, Min! What can you expect? I wasn’t mad because I wanted him back. I was mad because I wasn’t a huge fan of her.” She rolled her eyes and took a deep breath.
Minhyuk grinned. “Sounds a bit like jealousy to me.”
“Well it wasn’t. I can assure you that the only person I want is sitting right here in front of me!” She slapped her hand over her mouth, not intending on that coming out.
Minhyuk’s smile widened even more. He began to feel his cheeks warm up. “Look at you being adorable.”
She covered her face from embarrassment. “I can’t believe I just said that out loud.” She whined.
He stood up from his chair and stood over her for a moment. He snickered a little from her reaction. “Don’t be embarrassed.” He bent down close to her face and tipped her chin. “You telling me that is like music to my ears.” he kissed her lips softly. He allowed his lips to linger on hers for a minute before pulling away. He didn’t want to lose this moment. He had dreamed of this moment for far too long and it was finally coming true.
She took a deep breath. She was in heaven. “So where do we go from here?” She whispered as she stared at him.
“You tell me. I’m here, waiting on you to make a move.” He stared at her as he held his hand out towards her.
She grabbed his hand and stood to meet his gaze. “I guess you can finally call me yours.” She smiled.
He engulfed her into a hug so tight that she could barely breathe.
“Min....too....tight!” She barely spoke through short breaths.
He loosened his grip a bit. “Sorry, I’ve just been wanting this for so long!” He kissed all over her face. “You won’t regret it, I swear!”
She stared up at him with a smile on her face. “I know I won’t.”
Shownu
He waited at a front door, awaiting it to be answered. When the door finally swung open he felt his heart jump a bit.
“What are you doing here?” Elle asked in shock. She didn’t even know he knew where she stayed.
He took a deep breath. “I know you have a lot of questions and I have a lot of answers. Can we talk?”
She rolled her eyes a bit. “Not if you’re gonna yell at me again!”
He chuckled a bit. “I promise to keep my cool.”
She motioned for him to come on in.
He sat on her couch with his hands clasped together.
“So should I start or you?” She asked as she stood in the distance. She wasn’t too sure if she should make herself comfortable.
“I will. You were right about me and Misun.” He paused to see her reaction.
She giggled. “Well duh I was! It’s obvious, my question is what happened?”
“We dated but we never should have.”
“Why not? Did y’all not really like each other?”
Shownu cleared his throat. “We liked each other. I liked her a lot but Minhyuk liked her first and I kind of stole his opportunity with her.” He looked away. “I’m not proud of what I did.”
“So that’s why she and Minhyuk left together to visit her family? It all makes sense now.”
He nodded. “Yeah. I figured you deserve some sort of explanation. I know you like me and I’m flattered but I’m not in the space to be in a relationship right now with anyone. I need to focus on getting myself right and preparing to enlist. But I am sorry for how I spoke to you because no woman should be spoken to like that.”
She nodded. “Live your truth. All I can do is respect that. So what I have a little crush. I’ll get over it.” She giggled.
He stood and smoothed his clothes down. “Maybe when my enlistment is over we can catch up.” He smiled.
She shrugged. “Yeah maybe.” She pulled him into a friendly hug and kissed his cheek.
Nori
They pulled up to the mall to meet Minhyuk and Misun. She hoped they had finally made things official but with the rate that they were going before made her lose some of that hope. They both were stubborn.
“If they’re not together by now it’s never gonna happen, babe.” Jooheon wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
She rolled her eyes. “Sometimes I just want to slap em both and make them see things how we do.” She giggled.
He kissed her forehead. “See that’s why I love you cause we think alike. Maybe we can slap them today and make them be together. You think that’d work?” He laughed.
“Probably not. They’re hopeless.”
Misun snuck up behind them and began to tickle Nori’s sides. “Whose hopeless?!”
Nori turned around quickly to fight her off. She noticed Minhyuk and Misun holding hands. “Wait- am I dreaming or are y’all?”
Minhyuk kissed Misun’s knuckles. “See we’re hopeless after all.”
Nori pulled them into a hug quickly. “Bout damn time!”
Jooheon gave Minhyuk a high-five. “How does it feel?”
Minhyuk looked over at Misun. “Like my life is finally falling into place.” He pulled her closer into his side.

MacBook charger not working? Here’s what to do
What to do if your MacBook is not charging
Why won't my MacBook charge?
There could be a straightforward motivation behind why your MacBook Air or Pro won't charge. Start off with these straightforward checks to establish what the issue is:
We need to inquire... Is the MacBook definitely connected? Disconnect the charging link from the laptop and plug it in once more.
Check the attachment socket too. Is the socket turned on? Have you tried utilizing a different divider socket? We know this sounds a bit essential, but twofold check before you go any further.
Ensure your capacity adaptor is connected appropriately. Every Apple laptop adaptor comes in two parts, the square adaptor and its removable fitting that connects to the divider, and the charge link. Pull the two apart and put them back together.
What does your Apple adaptor resemble? Is it in pristine condition or does it have any tears in the link? Is the adaptor stained in any capacity? Does it watch burnt out? Assuming this is the case, try a different adaptor (acquire one from a companion or ask at an Apple Store).

Trying a different wall outlet is also critical because it precludes the outlet being the issue (and who hasn't had the experience of plugging something into a non-working outlet previously?).
Also, check for any flaws or frays in the adapter. On the off chance that the MagSafe cable is torn, fraying, damaged, or the inner-workings of the charger are uncovered in any way, don't utilize the MagSafe. Replace it immediately.
Clean it up

Here’s How You Can Clean And Charge Your Hearing Aids?
You might notice things with your assistive listening devices if you can establish a good routine. Interesting sounds you had never heard before and many earwax might come to your attention.
This guide will assist you in learning everything you need to know about charging and maintaining your devices so they are as clean as possible.
Your Hearing Aids Need Cleaning
Your ears produce earwax for two different purposes. Earwax, first and foremost, lubricates your ear. You might imagine it as a lip balm for the interior of your ears. Additionally, it offers your ears a substantial defence against outside items or illnesses.
This might be dust or even tiny insects. Earwax is essential for preserving your ears, but if you have a lot of it, it may obstruct your devices and increase the likelihood of repair.
For this precise reason, it is advised that you regularly take the time to clean your devices. You can quickly get some tissues or, if you want, use a dry cloth. You must dab the earpiece while you have this. Ideally, this will get rid of any wax on the gadget.
Replace your earwax filter immediately if your devices aren't working as effectively as they should be and there is a significant buildup. If it does, don't be concerned; just get in touch with your audiologist, who can advise you on what to do.
If hearing aids for pensioners or anyone are still relatively new and you aren't accustomed to wearing them, they might do it for you.
Your Hearing Aids' Charging
How frequently you use your device while streaming music will typically affect how long they last on a charge. The good news is that charging your devices is not at all challenging. All you have to do is plug them into the charger overnight, and when you wake up in the morning, you'll notice that they are already completely charged.
If necessary, you can also recharge them during the day. If you know that you live somewhere prone to wet or even humid weather, you need to make sure that you correctly place them into the charger and use a drying kit.
Replace the Battery
You shouldn't be concerned if your hearing aid does not have a rechargeable battery. Your hearing aid's battery change doesn't have to be difficult. Your hearing aid's batteries will typically last three to fifteen days. Of course, how much you use them will determine this.
This is especially true for streaming music, television, or other features. When the battery is becoming low, you will typically hear a sound, which will let you know it's time to change the batteries. This warning period may change depending on how your audiologist has set up your device.
How to Check the Life of Your Batteries?
Putting a sound system in place is essential to keep track of your device’s battery life. Try adhering a battery-generated dot sticker to a calendar. You can determine when the batteries were last changed if you do this. When doing this, you can estimate how long it will be until you need to replace the batteries.
Over a flat surface, like a tray or even a table, swap out the batteries. It will be simpler to locate the batteries if you drop them. Try to wait a minute after removing the sticker from your battery before replacing it. For the battery to operate at its best, this aids in the appropriate air intake.

MASTERLIST
“He did what?!” you exclaimed, holding your phone to your ears with a vice-like grip.
Amy, the closest friend you had from literature class, called to inform you that your lit professor just moved the deadline a day earlier than agreed on when you had initially planned on sleeping in today – which was basically what happened but still, sleep! Need you say more?
Your friend chuckled at your outrage, used to the fact that you never enjoyed being deprived of your slumber but you got up from bed nonetheless, inwardly cursing at your professor for being an ass.
You’ve been sleeping for the past eight hours, literally collapsing on the bed once you arrived from your morning class and when you got up from bed it was already six in the evening yet you still felt like you were deprived of such a lovely…hobby.
The end of the academic year was only an arm length away and your literature professor had given an optional extra assignment for those who wanted additional points for the course and your grade-conscious self thought that a paper wasn’t of that much work. Oh how much you regretted this.
When you managed to collect your things and take a shower, you encountered your roommate on your way out, a backpack slung over her shoulder and her other arm carrying a duffel bag.
“You’re coming home?”
“Yup! Sem’s finally over for me! When are you coming home?”
You pursed your lips in reply, and your roommate quickly understood your actions. She gave you a hug and a small squeeze on your shoulder before leaving the dorm.
It was already eight in the evening when you got out of the dorm, downing a full cup of instant noodles on your way out – a staple ever since you entered college. You’d brought your laptop and a few essentials with you on your way to a café you frequented at, and the local barista waved in your direction as she saw your familiar face enter the establishment.
You settled down on a comfy seat by the display shelf, turning on your laptop to go over the details of the assignment. Rubbing your face in annoyance, you stared at your laptop screen for a full minute when the barista comes over and serves you a cookie.
“School’s not over yet?” she asked and you scrunched up your face in frustration once more, and she looked you in the eyes, expecting an explanation rather than mere just facial expressions.
Skye had been working at the café for almost two years now, and you both have been well acquainted with each other, giving out extra cookies or helping her during her shifts – it wasn’t much for your new found friendship, but you both were grateful for each other’s company.
“My lit professor decided to move the deadline for a paper a day earlier,” you frowned, looking for some cash in your wallet and handing it over to Skye who shook her head, denying your payment for the cookie. “It’s on the house, don’t worry,” she reassured, egging you to continue your rant.
“Well, I have to finish a five-page essay in less than four hours, I haven’t had my full beauty rest, and I want to strangle my professor.” Skye laughed at your outburst, mentioning something about having your coffee served a few more minutes later when you’ve finally cooled down.
“You take joy in my misery don’t you woman?” Waving you off, she went back to her place by the counter and gave you a wink, gesturing for you to start with your assignment.
Two hours later, the only thing you achieved was a successful online purchase, an update on Twitter about how much of an ass your professor was, and finishing an episode of your favorite classic – Friends. Unfortunately for you, your laptop’s battery was running low and the only available seat next to the socket was one right across a cute dude that entered the café an hour ago.
Shit.
First of all, you weren’t anywhere near exceptional when it came to any form of human interaction, spluttering gibberish during introductory meetings, having the inability to withdraw from discussions which you had no interest in, the list goes on really. The mere idea of approaching a stranger gave you goosebumps and if you would be able to pull this off, it would be a miracle.
Secondly, the dude is quite the looker! You could barely initiate a conversation with a nine-year-old, let alone an unbelievably good looking man! There was no way you were going to go over there and ask if you could use the other outlet to plug your laptop in.
There was a coffee table that was a snug fit between the two seats, barely leaving any leg space for two people who wished to occupy the spaces and if you did the math correctly, everything about this situation screamed recipe for disaster.
Yet here you were, standing in front of the incredibly attractive man who was staring up at you as you stood there at a complete loss for words. Heaving a sigh, you started, “Hi. Would you mind if I occupied this seat? I really need a plug right now and my laptop’s battery is kinda dead.”
‘Oh god did I say too much? This is beyond embarrassing. Please say no. Please say no. Please sa-‘
“Of course,” he smiled.
Wait what?
“Great. Thank you.” You settled your stuff on the table, legs awkwardly stuck together to one side, the stubborn piece of furniture making you the least bit comfortable. Well, it was definitely better than not being able to get extra points for the subject right?
A few minutes in after your awkward interaction with the handsome stranger, you heard sniffing from across the table and this dude just shed a tear. You didn’t mind it at first, thinking that maybe there was something caught in his eye. Seconds later, you see his hand reaching for the tissue on the table and when you look at him this time, he was full on crying, tears steadily flowing from his eyes.
“Are you okay?”
“Ye- no actually.”
“What’s the matter?” When you checked the time on your laptop screen, two ones were staring back at you in all its glory. Great. Now you had only an hour left to finish the essay and you don’t even have half of a paragraph in. Was it too much of a bad idea if you joined this beautiful man on a bawling session?
“I just saw this video, shit, sorry I didn’t mean to disturb you really,” he rambled on and you couldn’t help but study his godlike features. He was a bit on the buff and muscular side, but his personality seemed to be the polar opposite – a complete softie. His pearly whites were definitely something that you’ll stick to for a first impression, the manifestation of a neat and well-groomed man. He was too handsome that it makes you question if you were even worthy of his sight.
By the time he was done explaining his emotional outburst, mainly driven by his homesickness because he hasn’t visited his family in six months, he mentioned that everything that remotely reminded him of home got the best of him and triggered the waterworks.
It was already 11:30 in the evening and you had lost all hope of passing your homework, all thanks to this stranger.
“I’m really sorry for the rant and everything else, but is there anything I can help you with?” he asked, diverting his eyes to your laptop and the book on classical literature beside it. You wanted to shove the book to his pretty face in frustration, but you were never one to make a scene, besides, you knew you were going to pass that subject, you just needed extra points in case it may affect your GPA to a certain extent.
“It’s okay, really. I hope you get to go home soon,” you smiled in return, taking the charger out of the plug. “I’m majoring in literature. If that’s a paper due tonight and it has to do something with literature, I’m doing it for you.”
Tempting.
“I really don’t want to cause you any trouble.”
“I’m betting my ass you need my help right now. And think of it as returning the favor, alright?” Before you could reply, he was already grabbing your laptop and going over your three-sentence homework.
“Not bad for an introductory paragraph,” he nodded, glancing at you as he typed away. You were speechless. This stranger literally just cried his heart out in front of you minutes ago, and now he was doing your five-page essay, not even breaking a sweat. He only paused to take a sip from his coffee, and he continued to type aggressively on the keyboard. Usually, you’d fight anyone who would do such thing on your sensitive laptop, but at this rate, you really couldn’t care less.
11:50 PM.
Removing your laptop from his lap and placing it on yours, the stranger smiled, seemingly proud of his work. When you checked his work, he really did it, even exceeding the number of pages required. Impressive. You were convinced that this man literally came down from heaven to bless you with his visuals and do your homework.
As you sent the file to your professor, it just occurred to you that you never got the stranger’s name who was now flicking through the pages of your book. What was with this boy?
“Excuse me, I didn’t really catch your name,” you pursed your lips, instantly embarrassed at how you let this man do your paper and you never got his name.
“It’s Hoseok. Lee Hoseok.”

What I Did and Would Do Differently...
If I could do it differently I wouldn’t try to buy and sell shoes like I did. While I love shoes, it takes up too much space then you start feeling like a hoarder and start hugging the anxiety of near mental breakdown. Would stick to essentials. Maybe bring a laptop. Pop to the thrift shop for a pan & find a good spot. When in Little Rock, met a singer hanging outside of an organic food store and he told me about resources like The Van that can help with food, shelter, and sometimes could wash your clothes, etc. Most of them were church-affiliated if I remember correctly. Things like washing clothes were a time-drag and I never found a really good solution, but all I tried was using the blow-dryer at Mcdonald’s while charging laptop and couldn’t even do it all the way for socks because of the embarrassment of people walking in. A membership to Planet Fitness comes in handy for showers. If someone knows a solution to the clothes thing feel free to comment or message, as it may come in handy if I decide to embark on these adventures again.
Aldi’s, Save-A-Lot, and Lowe’s are probably good places for food.. I’m sure other states have other types of stores in this price range. Tried putting hot dogs in a regular cooler... but forgot about them, so... it was a waste. Would recommend a GOOD cooler where the ice melts at a lower rate.
Tent- I didn’t use one, but one was available. You could, if and/or when a stable place with space is available apply thin layer of silicone to outside to make it rain-proof if it is not from the get-go and add permethrin to make it more bug-resistant. Make sure to check out the wildlife in your area to minimize surprises.
Laptop and phone and mobile charger and car charger- godsends. If one device dies...then you have a backup plan. At least have a phone. For phone service- best coverage hands down goes to Verizon... T-Mobile seems to be good in the city parts. But I’ve went as far as New Mexico- me having T-Mobile and the other traveler having Verizon and this person- 9/10 times on the interstate at least, had reception. There was a part of Kansas not too far from Colorado where there was a dead-zone if I recall- it was a eerie time and a eerie place in this time and age.

Can You Keep a Chinchilla in Your Bedroom?
Before you rush out and get your new pet chinchilla, there are lots of things to think of—like, where are you going to put it? Is a bedroom suitable, or should you pick somewhere else?
Can I keep a chinchilla in my room? You can. It's a good idea because you spend lots of time with it, and the temperature and humidity should be right. But chinchillas are active at night, so could keep you awake, and while they are hygienic they can smell. You have to weigh up these advantages and disadvantages. Another potential chinchilla cage location is the living room, or alternatively the basement.
There's no right or wrong answer, only what you prefer. Lots of owners choose to keep their chinchillas in the bedroom, and just put up with any little annoyances that might arise from that. And if you're a heavy sleeper and keep on top of cage cleaning, it'll hardly be a problem anyway!
Can You Keep Chinchilla Cage in Bedroom?
You can keep a chinchilla anywhere you like in your house, so long as you're prepared for whatever that entails.
That might seem like a vague answer, but it really is up to you. So long as you're aware of the advantages and disadvantages, you can keep your chinchillas in almost any room of the home. So long as it isn't dangerously hot, dangerously humid or very loud then the room is fine. This section of the guide will look at both the advantages and disadvantages of keeping your chinchilla in your room, so you can make the best decision for you.
Advantage: You Spend More Time With Your Pet
The best thing about chinchillas is how cute they are, and you can only tell how cute they are if you spend time with them! Chinchillas are friendly and gentle if handled correctly, and keeping your chinchilla in your room will give you lots of opportunity to do that. That's because if you put your chinchillas in a room where you can forget about them, well—you'll forget about them! That means less handling time, less cage cleaning time, even less seeing your pet.
It's not just good for you, it's good for your pet, too. Chinchillas are curious creatures and can get bored stuck inside a cage all day (like you would!) Being around you for longer periods will make your chinchilla happy. This is especially important if your chinchilla doesn't have a cagemate.
This is good in other ways, too. The more time you spend around your pet, the more it will trust you. Handling will therefore be easier. If your pet ever gets sick, you'll immediately notice because its behavior changes. And if your chinchilla were to escape somehow, then you'd know, because you're there.
Disadvantage: Chinchillas Are Active at Night
Regular exercise wheels aren't suitable for chinchillas. But even suitable ones make noise!
Easily the biggest disadvantage of keeping chinchillas in the bedroom is that they are active at night. While chinchillas aren't exclusively nocturnal, they are active throughout the night, and that can mean:
Your chinchilla runs in its wheel for extended periods
Your chinchillas bark if they hear noises that frighten them
Your chinchillas may fight loudly
Even if they're otherwise quiet, you will hear your chinchillas moving around, eating and drinking
If you're a light sleeper, they could wake you up. And if you already struggle to get to sleep then chinchillas won't make that situation any better.
Perhaps the worst aspect of this is the wheel. Like other rodents, some chinchillas will run on their wheels/saucers all night long. Chinchillas are constantly active in the wild, hopping from rock to rock and foraging for food, taking breaks only to head home and sleep. So, your chin needs an outlet for its energy. You can make the noise slightly quieter by attaching the wheel more securely to the cage and oiling it with olive oil.
And if your chinchilla's general noise bothers you, consider using a white noise machine. These create a blanket of noise that covers the whole spectrum, blocking out both high and low-pitched sounds. Light sleepers use them if their neighbors wake them up frequently, but they work if you have chinchillas too. You could also have a fan blowing at night to cover the noise (no, it won't kill you).
Advantage: Temperature & Humidity Should Be Right
Wherever you decide to put your chinchilla cage, the room should be suitable for your pets. The two key factors you have to consider are temperature and humidity.
Chinchillas can easily overheat even in rooms that don't feel too hot for you. Anything over 75 degrees Fahrenheit/23.8 degrees Centigrade can kill a chinchilla. That's because of their thick coats; they're more used to cold mountainside weather. And even if the rest of the room doesn't feel like it, if your chinchilla's cage is in direct sunlight, it can get too warm. Ideally, chinchilla should be kept at around 60 degrees Fahrenheit/15.5 degrees Centigrade; whether you personally find this temperature comfortable should tell you whether keeping a chinchilla in your room is a good idea.
The other factor is humidity, and again, this relates to the chinchilla's coat. Chinchillas' thick coats mean that they have trouble keeping their fur dry. When it gets damp, it can cool the chinchilla down and make it uncomfortable. And if they stay damp for a long time they can develop ringworm. Being wet can even kill them if they cool down too much. But again, your bedroom likely won't be too humid, so that shouldn't be a problem.
Disadvantage: Smells & Mess
Hay smells.
While chinchillas are hygienic animals, they do still need to go to the toilet. Chinchilla poop is hard and dry so isn't a problem unless you skip cleaning the cage out. But chinchilla pee does smell, especially if it sits there a while. Most owners spot clean their chinchilla's cage every day to get rid of soiled bedding, or replace dirty fleece liners. But they'll still stink up the room in the meantime.
One good way of avoiding much of this smell is to use kiln dried pine as bedding. This bedding is highly absorbent and doesn't need to be changed as frequently as fleece. You can line your chinchilla's litter tray with it and it should hold onto a lot of the smell.
Besides that, chinchillas do have some of that generic-small-animal-smell. That's because they eat hay. Hay doesn't smell bad unless it rots, but you may not want your bedroom to smell like a barn!
Chinchillas can also make a room messy. They need to bathe in dust, and most owners put the bath right in the cage with their pet. This dust billows around and gets on all your surfaces. Not only is this messy, but it's possible that mineral dust is bad for your lungs, so this is bad for two reasons! You'll need to regularly sweep or vacuum to get rid of the dust, and even if you do, there is always some you missed.
Also... Some chinchillas are sprayers. Spraying is something chins do when they feel threatened. They stand up on their hind legs and spray right at you. Chinchillas normally reserve this for other chins that won't stop pestering them (like if a male wants to mate but a female doesn't). But chinchillas can spray at their owners, too. Because the spray can reach quite a distance, it can get on your things—and on you.
Question: How Big Is Your Bedroom?
If you've never owned a chinchilla before, you'd be surprised at how big their cages should be. There are several reasons why:
People underestimate how much space every rodent pet needs
Chinchillas are bigger than your average rodent
Chinchillas need surfaces they can jump up to, so the cages have to be tall as well
Chinchillas should ideally be housed in pairs, so the cage needs to be even bigger still
Most owners recommend three feet tall cages that are two foot wide by two foot deep at the very least. Take a tape measure and try to figure out where this cage would fit in your room. If you don't have room, you could move things around, or you could put your chinchilla cage somewhere else.
Advantage: You Can Easily Chin-Proof a Bedroom
Your chinchillas will need some outside-the-cage time. To provide this, you'll need to 'chin-proof' your room. This means making it suitable for chinchillas to run around in. It involves:
Securely tidying away any wires. Chinchillas chew through wires which is obviously dangerous. In other rooms this is a problem, as the wires are for big things like TVs and fridges that aren't easily moved. But in your bedroom, the only wires are probably for lamps or phone chargers.
Blocking off entrances and exits. You don't want your chinchilla to escape. Your bedroom probably only has one door, so that's not a problem.
Stopping chins from chewing furniture, wall trims and carpet. This is a problem wherever you go in the house!
If this doesn't prove easy, you can buy a pen for your chinchillas to run around in. You can then put this pen anywhere you like in the house. Buy one that has tall walls as chinchillas can jump surprisingly high!
Disadvantage: If You're Married
Not to go into too much detail, but if you're married, you won't want your bedroom to be a petting zoo (well, at least not in this sense). You may find the combination of animal noises, smells and general annoyance to be off-putting.
Where SHOULD I Keep My Chinchilla?
Many owners do keep their chinchillas in their bedrooms with them. If the disadvantages above don't seem that important to you, you can start off keeping your chinchilla in your bedroom. If they do become a problem, you can move your chinchilla's cage. That's not a problem unless you move the cage frequently.
Other rooms you could consider include:
The basement. The basement is a good choice because it's cool and it doesn't have bright direct sunlight. The only issue is it can get damp/humid down there.
The living room. Keeping your chinchilla here lets everybody spend time with it during the day. Just make sure the room isn't too noisy, as this will stress your pet out.
Pretty much anywhere in the house is fine so long as it isn't noisy, humid, too hot or too cold. This rules out the kitchen, for example, which gets hot and noisy; plus, it would be unhygienic to keep your pet there. You also shouldn't keep your chinchilla in the garage because a) it can get too cold, and b) you may not see if it gets sick or somehow escapes.

Mobility scooters and electric wheelchairs are battery-powered, so their batteries need to be charged regularly. Charging your scooter or wheelchair battery requires a charger, and you need to have an efficient one to charge your battery quickly. Your mobility scooter or electric wheelchair may come with a charger, but you might need to replace it eventually. It's also useful to have a spare battery charger or even more than one so that you can keep them in different places. Having one at home, one in your car, and perhaps one at a friend or relative's house that you visit often can be useful.
When you're looking for the right battery charger, you need to get one that's compatible with your mobility scooter or electric wheelchair. You have the option of battery chargers made by the same brand as your scooter or chair, but there are also other compatible chargers that you might want to consider. Looking at other brands could mean that you can save money and still get a good quality battery charger.
With the right battery charger, you can make sure that your scooter or wheelchair is charged at all times. You'll be ready to go at any moment and can enjoy the freedom that your mobility scooter or electric wheelchair brings you.
Top Battery Charger Brands
Some of the battery charger brands that you can discover are those that also manufacture mobility scooters and electric wheelchairs. If you have a Pride mobility scooter, for example, you might look for a battery charger made by Pride that works with your scooter. You might also find other brands that are compatible with your scooter or chair, even if they're not made by the same manufacturer.
Some of the top battery charger brands available for your scooter or electric wheelchair include:
Pride
Drive Medical
Zip'r Mobility
Amigo
Compass Health
EV Rider
EWheels
Primo
Rio Mobility
Battery Charger Components
What exactly is a battery charger, and what are its components? When you're looking at battery powered chairs and scooters, you need to know how the charger works. A charger for a mobility scooter or electric wheelchair looks a lot like many other battery chargers, such as laptop chargers. A standard charger has a plug that goes into an electrical socket, a power pack, and a lead that plugs into your wheelchair or scooter.
You might see a few different designs for battery chargers. Some chargers are larger than others, and there are even charging dock style chargers, which you place the battery into instead of plugging it in. A standard charger has a three-pin connection. It also usually comes in two parts, so that you can replace either part separately if one is broken.
Choosing the Right Battery Charger
You need to consider a few different things when you're looking for a replacement or spare battery charger for battery powered wheelchairs or battery operated scooters for seniors and disabled people.
You can make things simple for yourself and select a battery charger that matches your scooter or chair make and model. This makes it a little easier to find the right charger, although sometimes it could be a slightly more expensive option. However, if you're looking for a different charger, there are some things that you will have to look for.
Firstly, you need to get the right voltage and amperage. You will find that the majority of scooters and wheelchairs, and therefore the majority of battery chargers, are 24V. It's important not to apply too many volts to the battery, so matching up the voltage is the first thing that you need to do. The amps can vary, and you need to ensure that the charger supplies at least as many amps as your battery requires. It doesn't matter if it can supply more amps, but if there is not enough current, the battery will charge slowly and inefficiently or might not charge at all.
The main types of batteries that you will find in scooters and wheelchairs are lead-acid (wet cell) batteries, AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries, and gel cell batteries. More recently, you can also get a lithium battery mobility scooter. Battery chargers can charge all sorts of batteries, but you might find that some are designed specifically for lithium batteries or other types.

On-board battery chargers
You can also find on-board battery chargers. These are integrated as part of the scooter or wheelchair, which means that you can never misplace it or forget it. However, on-board chargers are also more likely to only be compatible with certain makes and models. If you want an on-board charger, be sure to check that it works with your chair or scooter first.
Car chargers
Another option is car chargers, which allow you to charge your battery straight from your car. This is very convenient if you want to give it a quick burst of power while driving, so it's ready for when you arrive at your destination.
Battery chargers for travel
Many people want a battery charger for their mobility scooter or electric wheelchair to help them with travel. If you have a lightweight or folding product, it can be excellent for traveling with and even flying with. However, you don't want to have to carry a heavy and bulky battery charger with you when you travel. You want to have a lightweight charger to match your lightweight chair or scooter. Fortunately, you have options if you're looking for a charger that travels well. There are small and compact options available, some of which weigh less than a pound and can fit neatly into any bag.
Battery Charger Prices: How Much Can You Expect to Pay?
Paying the right price for a mobility scooter or electric wheelchair battery charger is essential. If you pay too little, you could find that the charger isn't of great quality. But you also don't want to pay too much for a battery charger when it might not be necessary.
You'll find a range of prices for battery chargers, with the cheapest starting out at around $20. These tend to include chargers for specific scooter and wheelchair brands, such as Amigo and Shoprider. At the other end of the scale, you can find battery chargers that cost around $300. So what's the difference between cheaper battery chargers and more expensive options? The more expensive options might have more features or be more reliable. On-board chargers might also be slightly more costly, especially as they are specific to their model and need to be built-in.
Should you buy a used battery charger?
If you want to save money, you might decide to look at used mobility scooter or wheelchair batteries. Buying used products can often save you money, so perhaps it seems like a smart idea. However, whenever you buy anything with electrical components that has had a previous owner, you could be taking a big risk. That risk is increased further if you buy online and don't get to see the product before you buy it.
While buying a used product might be tempting, it could end up being a waste of money. If you get it and plug it into your battery, you could soon discover that it's not up to scratch. It could charge inefficiently or not at all. It might not even be compatible with your scooter or chair, even if the seller said it was. The best thing to do is to buy a product from a reputable dealer so that you can be sure you're getting a quality charger.
Using Your Mobility Scooter or Electric Wheelchair Charger
Knowing how and when to use your battery charger and how to use it safely is something to be aware of. Like other types of battery charging products, it's usually pretty easy to use a battery charger for your mobility scooter or electric wheelchair. Simply plug it in correctly and turn it off if necessary, and it will charge your batteries in no time.
Of course, the most important thing is to know how to use your charger safely. Before connecting the charger, make sure that you turn off your mobility scooter or electric wheelchair. Next, connect the charger to the charging socket on your scooter or chair and then connect it to the power socket. When you're not using it, it's best to unplug it for safety reasons. LEDs on your charger and scooter/chair should indicate that your batteries are charging. There will likely be a green light when it reaches a full charge. Some battery chargers will automatically turn off when they have finished charging. Disconnect your charger when it's finished, rather than leaving it plugged in all the time.
How Often Should You Use Your Charger?
Just how often should you use your mobility scooter or power chair battery charger? A lot of people fear that charging a battery too often will mean that the battery doesn't last as long. However, the frequency with which you should charge your batteries depends on what type of battery it is.
When you first get your mobility scooter or electric wheelchair, you should charge it fully. After that, you should pay attention to the type of battery.
Type of Battery
When to Charge
Gel batteries
When new
For the first 20 charges: when the battery gauge shows low charge
When you leave them for more than a week
After the first 20 charges: at the end of the day
Every couple of months, let the batteries discharge then recharge
Sealed lead acid batteries
When new
At the end of the day or at least once a week
Every couple of months, let the batteries discharge then recharge
AGM batteries
Keep your battery above 50% charge
Charge at the end of the day
Recharge on low charge
Lithium batteries
Use a lithium battery charger (not essential, but can extend battery life)
Discharge to 50% before charging
Fully discharge once a month
No need to fully charge
Potential Battery and Charger Problems
Anything with electrical components can experience problems, including electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters. Batteries are often a source of pain for people, especially when it seems like your batteries aren't charging properly or aren't holding a charge. If you're having battery issues, there could be a few problems
youtube
Battery not charging or not holding charge
When you start to experience battery problems with your mobility scooter or electric wheelchair, the issue is often that the battery won't charge or it's not holding its charge for long. These problems could both happen due to age. Batteries only last so long, so, with constant charging and discharging, they will eventually not work anymore. However, they should last for a long time before they're no longer as efficient or stop working completely.
Most scooters will let you know if the battery needs to be replaced. If the battery isn't charging, you should also check the connections on the battery to make sure that they're secure. If the connections are secure, you should use a multimeter to check the voltage of the battery. When charging the battery doesn't improve the reading, there could be a problem with the battery or with the charger. Batteries can be replaced easily, but you will probably want to make sure the problem doesn't lie with the charger first.
Charger not fitting
On some occasions, you might have a problem with fitting the charger cable into your scooter or wheelchair. The first thing you should do is check if you have the right charger. You will find that most have a three-pin connection, so it is unlikely that you will have a charger that isn't suitable. Another issue could be that the charger or the battery charging port is damaged. If this is the case, avoid trying to force the charger in, or you could cause further damage. If the charger is the problem, buying a new one is simple. However, if the problem is with the charging port, you will need to have it repaired.
Battery charger flashing red
This is a common complaint that people have about their battery chargers. Exactly what it means can depend on the charger, but most of the time, it's not exactly a good thing. A flashing red light often means that the battery charger isn't doing its job. There is a break in the connection somewhere, and the charger isn't receiving a signal from the batteries. When this happens, make sure you perform all of the checks to see if there is a problem with the charger or if there could be a battery connector or battery issue.
How Do You Test a Mobility Scooter Battery Charger?
If your mobility scooter or electric wheelchair isn't charging, it could be a problem with the charger. But how do you test the charger to confirm what the problem might be? After all, you probably only have one scooter or chair, so it's not as simple as plugging the charger into another one. There are a few checks that you can do if you want to see if there is a problem with your battery charger.
To start with, connect your charger to the mains power and check if all of the lights that are supposed to be turned on are on. Plug it into your wheelchair or scooter overnight, noting the charge the level before you do. In the morning, check if the charge level has risen. If your battery isn't fully charged and you know that the battery is fine, the next step is to carry out a test on the charger. You can use a voltmeter to do this or a specialized battery and charger analyzer tool.

Electric Wheelchair and Mobility Scooter Battery Charging Times
The time it takes for a battery charger to charge the battery for your electric wheelchair or mobility scooter is influenced by a few different factors. Firstly, it's important to get the right voltage and amps for your charger, ensuring it's compatible with your battery. If it's not, it could mean that it charges very slowly or doesn't charge at all, and it could damage the battery. Even when you have a compatible charger, there could be differences in charging times. Some chargers will be slower simply because of the way that they are made. Look for a charger that offers fast charging times. Some batteries will charge faster too. Lithium-ion batteries charge quickly.
You can expect a car charger to charge your battery more slowly than a conventional charger. While a car battery charger is convenient, you probably don't want to use it as your main charger.
Why Have a Spare Charger for Your Mobility Scooter or Electric Wheelchair?
You might be looking for a new battery charger because you need a replacement for one that no longer works. However, you can also benefit from having an extra charger alongside your main charger. There are some excellent reasons to do this, even if it costs you a little extra.
One reason to have a spare charger is in case your primary charger stops working. Firstly, you'll be able to use your extra charge to check if the problem is with the charger or the battery. If the issue lies with the charger, you will immediately have a backup that you can use. There will be no need to search for, order, and then wait for a new one. You won't have to go without your scooter or chair because you're unable to charge it or hope that you can get a new charger before the battery runs out.
Another reason to have a spare charger, or perhaps more than one, is so that you can have them in different locations. You could have a spare charger in your car so that you can use it whenever necessary. You might have a spare at your partner's house or at a family member's house so that it's conveniently there for when you need it. A spare battery charger might not be essential, but it's definitely a useful thing to have.

Our number one guideline is this: Underpowered chargers are a waste of loan. How will you recognize? Right here's what you need to try to find: .Try to find those with several ports, not simply solitary ones .Select a tool that can, at the very least, give at least 2.1 amps per USB port. You can find it out by splitting the provided amps provided by the maker to the variety of ports on the gadget. If the number is less than 2.1, it's a complete waste of money. Let's state that you wish to purchase a USB with 3 ports, as well as it uses a 3.8 amp rating. If you split this by 3, you get 1.27, or 1.3 amps per port. That's less than 2.1 amps. While this may sufficiently bill your smart phone, points will truly slow down if you do this along with your functioning GENERAL PRACTITIONER as well as a mini follower on the other two ports. What's even worse is that some more recent devices won't correctly charge if the amp score is less than 2, so this makes this a thumbs down for us. We suggest Omaker, Satechi, Anker, as well as Aukey chargers. Scosche is also a good name. Its reliable USBC242M design has 2-port chargers that use 4.8 amps of outcome. Nice one for such a low-key tool.
Puncture Sealers/ General Sealers
You never recognize when you're going to get a flat tire, however at least you understand you're prepared once it occurs. Puncture sealants are implied to aid you out throughout an emergency situation. They are, nevertheless, short-term repairs, so you still need to get your tires fixed as quickly as you can. Tire sealers work by simply placing the can's nozzle to the tire valve stem and after that releasing its components inside the tire. This seals the leak, offering you time to drive to the next filling station and also look for aid. Some well-recommended ones today are: Fix-a-Flat as well as Penray. Manufacturer-specific inflator packages are also offered for a variety of cars and truck brand names, but they're much more costly. Another kind of sealant is the one you use for other parts of your car. General sealants are wonderful to make use of in case your wire cord is broken, your cars and truck windows are broken, or your plastic dashboard is crumbling. We especially like Sugru. This innovative and also fun sealer has a lot of uses not just for your car, but likewise for your home.
Cars and truck Sunshade
You may believe they're simply sunshades, yet they're not simply there to disperse sunlight. Sunshades are great since: .They maintain your vehicle cool and also keep a lower temperature by shutting out the sun's rays .They safeguard the crucial areas that house your electronic gizmos, particularly heat-sensitive stereo systems, LCD tvs, DVD gamers, and CD players .This lengthens their life as well as workability. They secure and protect your car interiors, especially your dashboard and also child seat. A sunshade aids block damaging rays that can warp, damage, as well as bleach these indoor parts, making them last much longer. Selecting the appropriate automobile shade depends upon you and your household's needs. Taken care of kind tones assist secure babies in a safety seat, while pull-down shades aid adults or older youngsters to change their favored brightness. Tones must also be rated for UV resistance, as well as must be particularly noted on the package.

A/N: This is my submission for the lovely Kait’s ( @bionic-buckyb) 5k AU Challenge. Congrats on the followers, friend! My prompt was “Can you please come over so I don’t feel so alone?”
Second to last part! Tags are closed. I loved all your messages so much!
Part 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7
The next morning, you awoke with a ridiculous pounding headache. Your mouth tasted funny and dry, and you knew you were still in your outfit from the night before. That also meant that last night’s makeup was probably smeared across your face and pillow.
Thank goodness it was Saturday. At least that would give you time to get over the hangover from hell. You groaned at the memory of what caused you to get so inebriated in the first place.
You win.
After seeing Bucky’s text, you didn’t reply to him. Instead, you conned Peter into taking you for some drinks.
His bar of choice? Red Room, another exclusive spot downtown.
Expensive alcohol (paid for by Peter) flowed for the rest of the night, as did Peter’s mundane chatter. The only reprieve you had was when you passed out in the taxi home.
You sat up gingerly, squinting at the clock on your bedside table as you wiped some drool off the corner of your mouth. Your phone was halfway across the room on the floor, as if you’d thrown it in a fit of rage.
Wait a minute…
Yeah, you definitely had thrown it in a fit of rage from the looks of it. Or, a fit of some emotion…the details were sort of cloudy at the moment.
You stepped out of bed, moving slowly over to the discarded device, but as soon as you picked it up (and it wasn’t broken, thank you OtterBox!) you saw the battery must have died.
The charger was back over near your bed, so you plugged it in and waited for the screen to light up.
When it finally came back to life, you cringed again. The number of missed calls and unread texts was higher than you’d ever seen in your life. Fourteen missed calls, all from last night. You clicked those first.
Three calls were from Peter (that made you chuckle, since you probably wandered away from him for some peace and quiet).
Eight were from Wanda. Why the hell had Wanda tried to call you that many times?
One missed call from…Natasha?
Oh god!
Your eyes widened as you remembered something else from last night. Natasha had been there with a couple of her friends.
You’d drunkenly gone up to her and offered her Bucky’s number in person, telling her nearly every sinful thing he’d ever said about her and how much he wanted to date her. Why had she called though? Maybe to make sure you had her number?
You smacked your forehead at the hazy memory, wincing as it added on to your hangover headache pain.
What the hell was the matter with you?
With another low groan, you looked at the last two missed calls of the night.
Both were from Bucky.
Oh geez. He probably called to confirm that he slept with Rosie, or to thank you for giving Natasha his number. Fuck fuck fuckity fuck…
You moved on to the dozens of unread text messages.
Most of them were from Peter, asking where you were, asking if you were ready to go home. The last couple from him were interesting.
Bucky texted me to say if I didn’t get you home soon he was gonna kick my ass.
Can you please meet me near the door so we can head out? I have a cab waiting.
There were texts from Natasha that you found just a little disturbing.
Thank you again! Sorry I missed your call. I tried to call back but no answer!
I’m going to ask him out tomorrow! Can’t wait! - Nat
Wanda seemed to have gotten the bulk of the text messages, replying to what started as you complaining about your date, to you sending her strings of gibberish with a lot of sad emojis.
I can’t understand what you’re writing, Y/N. I think you should get home.
Should I text Bucky to come get you?
Do you need me and Vis to come pick you up?
Finally, the last few were from the man himself.
Y/N, please get in the cab with Peter.
You’re not making any sense.
I’m getting worried. Just come home!
Ugh, you really mucked things up this time, didn’t you? A quick scan of your messages told you by the time you started texting Bucky, you were too far gone to type properly. At least you didn’t confess anything, like how you’d kept Nat from him for that long.
How humiliating…
You never ever drank this much, knowing that it always led you to make poor decisions.
At least Peter Quill wasn’t in your bed. That was a plus-one for your night, for sure. Thankfully, you were always good about going to bed alone. Stranger danger (or in this case nearly-a-stranger danger) was a real thing, and you weren’t having it.
With another groan, you found Wanda’s name in your contact list and pressed call, putting her on speaker.
After a few rings, she finally picked up. “Y/N? You’re alive then?”
“I’m sorry,” you said softly, eyes filling with tears involuntarily. “I’m so sorry, Wan. I made a fool of myself last night.”
“You were just hurting, friend. It’s fine. You didn’t really like Peter anyway, from what you were saying when you could still type properly.”
“I know, but it’s not even just that. I’ll probably have to apologize to him later, but Wanda, I saw Natasha when I was out last night.”
“Oh, shit!” she exclaimed. “What did you say to her? Please don’t tell me you said anything about Bucky!“
“I told her Bucky lusted after her, then gave her his number,” you admitted, closing your eyes to try to stave off the stinging tears. “She texted me last night and said she was going to ask him out today.”
“Oh, sweetie, I’m sorry.”
Sorry? Huh?
“Don’t be. He’s wanted her for a while now, I just didn’t have the guts to lose my best friend to her.”
There was a brief silence on the other end of the line.
“Are you still there, Wan?”
“I’m still here, but I’m wondering why you’re a total moron.”
You opened your eyes, glaring at the nearest object, which just so happened to be your lamp. “Excuse me?”
“All you did last night, Y/N, was text about Bucky. Did he sleep with Rosie? Do you think he slept with Rosie? Do you think he’s in love with Rosie? What about Natasha? Did he still want Nat? Doesn’t he care about me at all?”
The only thing you could do was groan again, feeling utterly stupid.
“Don’t you see, you absolute moron? You’re in love with Bucky. I had my suspicions all along, but now this kind of solidifies it, don’t you think? That’s why you didn’t want to give Nat his number, and that’s why you don’t want to lose him.”
“Have you picked up the drinking where I left off, Wan? You’re so far off from the truth, it’s not even funny.”
“Am I? Then explain these texts: Wanda he doesn’t care about me. Bucky hates me. He’ll forget all about me. I can’t lose him, Wan! Not one message said anything like that about Peter. Not one, Y/N. You really love Bucky, and you’re scared because you finally realized it.”
That was like a kick in the gut. “You don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Don’t I? I think you need to take some time and think about what…or who…you really want, Y/N. Before it’s too late, preferably.”
“Can you please come over so I don’t feel so alone?” you whispered into the phone, feeling like your heart was cracking. “I need someone to be with me today. I know if I’m alone, I’ll sit and mope all day.”
“I won’t let you be alone,” she promised.
---
We’re going out tonight! Just wanted to say thank you again! –Nat
You stared at the screen, wondering if your brain was still so muddled from your hangover that you were no longer capable of reading correctly. Surely, this newly received text didn’t say that they were already going on a date, one day after the whole debacle of the wager went down?
Boy, he didn’t waste any time, did he?
There was still no word from your supposed best friend after last night. There was no way you were gonna text him first, not after remembering what went down, and everything you may have said.
He was probably a little bit mad about the Natasha thing, but couldn’t he get over it? He told practically everyone how he felt about her. Steve and Sam knew…even Vis and Wanda knew!
He was finally seeing her tonight, and all would be well with them. Why did he have to hold it against you? What a baby.
Anyways.
You got out of bed, and the first thing you did with what little energy you could muster was grab a blanket and move to lay on the couch.
Wanda promised she wouldn’t let you spend the day alone thinking about your humiliation, but she still hadn’t arrived yet. You hoped against hope she was stopping for coffee and bagels or something. You could really use some strong caffeine right about now.
You pulled the blanket over you with a sigh, and flipped through the channels until you came across a movie that looked familiar. ‘When Harry Met Sally.’ Just what you didn’t need to see.
“Oh, screw you. Guys and girls can be just friends,” you yelled at the TV, throwing your tissue box at the screen. You clicked through some more channels.
It was like the world was laughing at you.
My Best Friend’s Wedding was on, too.
Another farce.
The best friend is about to marry this beautiful woman that you can’t help but like, while Julia Roberts tries desperately to sabotage the wedding because she realizes (or maybe just thinks) she’s in love with him. That was so stupid. Who lets it get that far? If she loved the guy, she should probably just go ahead and tell him.
When Bucky and Natasha eventually got married, you weren’t going to run up and make out with him to try to stop him. You wanted him to be happy, even if-
Your eyes widened, no longer seeing the movie on the screen, but picturing Bucky standing at the altar with Natasha, looking happier than ever.
You’d been about to say ‘even if it wasn’t with you.’
What.
The actual.
Fuck?????
Your hands got all clammy again as you thought it through. What the hell kind of thought was that? You pushed the blanket off your legs and stood up, pacing back and forth anxiously.
Was Wanda right?
Were Harry and that stupid Sally right, too?
Were you…in love…with Bucky?
Your heart started racing as you heard a knock on the door. When you swung it open, Wanda stood there, coffee and bagels in hand as you’d hoped for.
“Y/N, it’s been so long,” she answered dryly. “I promised I would be here, so here I am.”
“Wanda, get in here!”
You shoved your friend inside the apartment while she tried to balance the coffee without spilling.
“What the hell, Y/N? Careful!”
The door slammed shut behind you, and you turned to her with anxious eyes.
“Am I really in love with Bucky?” you asked breathlessly, trying to keep your voice down just in case he was across the hall.
Not that someone could hear you when they weren’t home, but in bed with another woman…ugh…
“Wanda?” you repeated, feeling like you might be sick. “Am I?”
“What?” She laughed, moving inside and heading for the kitchen counter. “Why are you asking me? I already told you how I felt about it, how I think you feel. Shouldn’t you be asking yourself if you’re in love with Bucky or not?”
“I don’t know! I’m so confused right now, and I just don’t know,” you rambled, following behind her, your hands wringing together. “He’s my best friend. People can be just friends, Wanda!”
“Calm down, Y/N. Let’s think this through, okay?”
“Okay,” you nodded, reaching for a coffee and taking a sip. “Okay, yes, coffee is good, thinking is good. Thinking is my best skill.”
“Over-thinking, maybe.”
“That’s not helping!”
“All right, all right!” Wanda held her hands up in surrender. “When you picture yourself with someone, settling down with them forever, who is it? Who do you see beside you?”
“I can’t ever picture it,” you admitted, setting the drink down. “I’m not that kind of person. I mean, I try, but I just…fairy tales are for children, you know?”
Wanda leaned against the counter, nodding. “Okay, we’ll come back to that. When you picture Bucky settling down with someone forever, who is it?”
You frowned at your friend. “Honestly, my first thought is Natasha.”
Her eyes widened a little. “And how does that make you feel?”
“You sound like a TV therapist right now.”
“Do you want my help or not?” she huffed, rolling her eyes and sipping from her own coffee.
“You’re right, I’m sorry. Okay, how does it make me feel…?” You closed your eyes, trying to picture Bucky and Natasha at the altar again. “It makes me feel a little bit crazy.”
“You’ll need to be a little more precise than that. Explain.”
You took a deep breath, letting it out slowly to try to calm your overactive, extremely loud heartbeat. You met her gaze again, and you knew you could be honest with her. “Well, for one, it makes me want to kick Natasha in the shin.”
Wanda laughed. “And what about Bucky?”
Shit. You knew what you were picturing. “I want to grab his face, and plead with him not to leave me.”
She smirked, crossing her arms over her chest. “Is that all you want to do?”
You closed your eyes again, trying to imagine it. There was definitely more to the story, parts you would never let yourself picture before.
“No,” you admitted weakly. “That’s not all.”
“Could you picture yourself up on that altar beside him instead of Nat?”
There was no hesitation this time.
“Yes.” Your response was a mere whisper, but you couldn’t have managed a louder voice if you tried.
“I think you have your answer then, don’t you? I mean, you did try to keep Natasha away from him so you could keep him a little longer. Plus, I think, and this is just me observing from afar here, but…I think you purposefully sought out douchebags to date so you didn’t have to commit to anyone else.”
“I…really? You think?” Your brows scrunched in disbelief. “I thought I just had a type?”
“Yeah, you have a type all right. Tall, dark, blue eyes, and lives across the hall from you.”
“But he’s going out with Natasha tonight,” you groaned, moving back over to the door to peer out of the peephole. There were still no signs of anyone across the hall. “He probably isn’t even back from Rosie’s, since he slept with her and all.”
“You don’t know that he slept with her.”
You made a face at her over your shoulder. “I do too! He told me I won! That means he didn’t make it through the whole date without putting the moves on Rosie.”
“Well, I’m not convinced. He could have forfeited the whole thing. And if he did sleep with Rosie, does that change how you feel?”
“No.”
Boy, she was just getting you to admit everything. If she kept this up she’d probably squeeze your bank card information out, too. You were just too willing to spill right now. Stupid emotions!
You chewed your lower lip, a new thought coming to your mind. “How do I know I’m not manufacturing these feelings because I’m about to lose him?”
“Do you feel like these feelings are out of the blue? I mean, really admitting to yourself, Y/N. Are they new?”
She had you there. Your heart told you the answer, and you shook your head no.
“So try to find him before his date tonight then! What are you doing talking to me when you could be out landing your Mr. Right for once in your freaking life?”
“Ahhhh!” you yelled, hands flying up in the air. “I am so nervous!”
What would you even say? Hey, Bucky, good luck on your date tonight, but oh by the way, don’t go on it because I love you?
Feh!
You looked at Wanda with terror in your eyes, silently imploring for answers.
She offered you a bright, confident smile in return. “Don’t be nervous. If anyone on this planet knows just what to say to Bucky, it’s you.”
---
Alone again, you got properly dressed, did your hair and makeup (but not overdoing it, you didn’t want to seem too weird), and were now pacing in front of your door, waiting for signs of life across the hall.
Wanda had disappeared right after her last pep talk, making you promise to not only stay away from alcohol tonight, but to not let Bucky out of your sight without telling him how you feel.
She told you one way or another, your relationship with Bucky was going to change, so why not make it the way you want? She had a point.
Your feet were getting tired from standing up with no breaks, but you didn’t want to miss him. Not knowing where he was or what he was up to was super weird. He hadn’t texted you yet today, either. You didn’t really go this long without talking, so something was definitely up.
Just as you were about to give up and go rummage for food, you spotted him at his door, finally, carrying a few grocery bags. Before he could disappear inside, you opened your door and stepped out, avoiding eye contact.
You had to make it seem like a coincidence.
“Y/N, hey,” Bucky spoke up from his doorway. “How are you feeling today?”
“Oh, hey Bucky! Didn’t see you there,” you fibbed. Ugh, could you sound anymore rehearsed? “I’m fine, how are you?”
“Fine.” He set the bags down just inside the door and then walked over to you, his blue eyes unreadable. “Y/N -”
“Listen, I’m sorry about last night,” you offered, interrupting him. You needed to talk first, or you’d lose the courage to speak at all. “I didn’t mean to get that drunk, and…well…“
“Why did you, though?” Bucky asked, his eyes staring into yours intently. “That’s not like you, Y/N.”
“I don’t know,” you confessed with a shrug. “Just thought it would be a salve for my personality, I guess, to help me make it through the terrible date.”
He shook his head. “This stupid wager wasn’t worth it, Y/N. Not if you put yourself at risk like that. You know I’d cook for you anyways, right?”
Your heart did that fluttery thing again. Maybe you needed to have that looked at. Between that and your stomach issues, you were a total mess.
“It’s okay, Bucky. I guess…I guess it doesn’t really matter now. You’re a winner, too, right? By the way, Nat’s excited about your date tonight. She texted me about it and thanked me again.”
Bucky frowned a little. “You know about tonight?”
“Well, like I said, she’s been mentioning you for a while now, so…” You forced a smile to your face, knowing you were chickening out. “So, she thought she’d share the news…”
“Yeah, I just…she texted and I- I guess I didn’t see a reason not to go…” Bucky’s voice trailed off, glancing down at his feet before looking up at you again.
Was he waiting for you to joke about it? You had always sort of mocked his thing for Natasha.
In the end, you didn’t have the heart to make things worse for him. If he needed you as a friend, and wanted Nat as a girlfriend, then that’s what would happen and you’d be supportive.
“I think you’ll have a great time.” You gave a firm nod, and your heart clenched a little. “Anyways, good luck tonight. See ya!”
“Yeah,” he replied, his tone a little lower. “Thanks. See you.”
In a quick retreat, you turned and headed down the stairs as fast as your legs would take you, needing to get away from Bucky, away from this entire situation.
You didn’t wanna see him bring her home later, and shut the door on your hopes for good.
---
Saturday afternoon came and went, and by evening, you still didn’t want to go home. After all, Bucky’s date with Natasha probably wasn’t over.
You shook your head, trying to get rid of the thought and mental picture.
Longing was the worst.
Or was it pining?
No, those meant the same thing, you were pretty sure.
Either way, you hated both words.
These awful feelings ended up making you forget how to be anything but a wishful thinker. They robbed you of your ability to make good decisions, leaving behind only misery in the shell of who you used to be.
For fuck’s sake, when did you become so melodramatic? There was no way you were going to sit around all night pining for Bucky.
Instead, you spent the bulk of your day in Brooklyn, visiting the botanical gardens, then walking aimlessly to people-watch for a while.
You killed some more time by walking across the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan, then sat in a Starbucks near the office for about an hour. When you were finally out of things to do to distract yourself on short notice, you decided the coast was probably clear to return home.
By now, his choice would have been made, and you’d be safe to sneak in your apartment unnoticed.
With your mind made up, you threw away your empty coffee cup and headed for the door. You’d barely taken a step outside when you almost ran smack into a familiar person.
An all-too-familiar person, one of the last people you would expect to see anywhere but Bucky’s apartment right now, to be exact.
“Natasha?”
“Hey,” she said, a smile forming on her pretty features. “Y/N! Fancy seeing you here.”
“Yeah, you too. I assumed you’d still be with Bucky?” It was still pretty early in the evening. Dates that go well usually…end well?
Nat raised an eyebrow at you, shifting her bag closer to her body. “Why would you assume that?”
“Well, you had your date tonight, didn’t you? It’s so early…I figured…”
“You figured that I would fall into bed with him on the first date? Well, that’s sort of offensive.” She gave you a smile to show she wasn’t serious.
That miserable, crushing guilt returned anyway. “I’m sorry, Nat, I didn’t mean it like that, really. I just…in all the romance stories, movies, whatever, once the protagonist finds their true love, they usually just…get right to it.
“And what on earth makes you think I found my true love?” Nat shook her head. “You watch too much TV or something, Y/N. Bucky’s hot, sure, and he’s really sweet. We went to a little restaurant in Brooklyn around six-thirty, but I was out of there by seven. Didn’t even eat. Bucky didn’t stop looking at his phone the whole time, and honestly, if I had to hear one more story about something you and he did together, I was going to scream.”
“Wait, what?” You blinked in confusion, moving to the side when more people started trying to get past you and Natasha on the sidewalk.
“He was totally distracted. Didn’t seem interested in me at all. I thought you said he was into me?”
“He- he was, Natasha, I don’t understand, I -” You were stuttering now, stumbling over words, because you couldn’t believe what she was saying.
“I kind of get it now, why you were trying to withhold information from me. I sort of caught the drift a while ago.” She leaned closer, eyes searching yours. “When did you realize you were in love with him?”
“I- I don’t,” you sputtered, still unable to make a complete sentence. “I’m not.”
“Recently, then? Oh, Y/N,” Natasha shook her head at you almost sympathetically. “Go home. Go talk to him. I don’t think New York City can handle much more of you two if you don’t. I’ll see you Monday.”
“See you,” you mumbled, still trying to process what she said as she flounced away down the sidewalk.
How come everyone knew you loved him before you knew?
Did Bucky know?
Your face grew hot at the thought of Bucky knowing you were pining for him while he was off sleeping with Rosie.
The walk back to Brooklyn was making you more and more nervous with each step. Natasha had said he was distracted; what if he had a different date altogether, like Rosie, and didn’t want Natasha because you’d handed her to him?
Was it a pride or ego thing? Was he trying to prove a point? Maybe he wanted to teach you a lesson?
Maybe you didn’t understand Bucky as well as everyone thought, after all.
As you got to your apartment, trudged up the steps, and went to unlock your door, there was a loud a click behind you. Bucky’s door opened; you knew the sound by now.
You shifted your bag on your shoulder and turned to look.
Bucky was standing in his doorway, eyes wide. “Y/N. Hey…where have you been all day? I’ve been looking for you.”
“I, uh…I was playing tourist. My phone’s been off. I went to the botanical gardens, and then-”
“That sounds nice,” he interrupted, rubbing the back of his neck. He looked super uncomfortable and you couldn’t blame him.
You’d made a complete mess of your friendship in just a couple of days.
“Have you eaten dinner?”
“Nope.” Where was he going with this?
“C-can you…uh…Can you come over? I’m feeling pretty shitty and I don’t want to be alone.”
Ah. That sounded awfully familiar. Those were some of the same words you’d said to Wanda this morning, after realizing that Bucky was the cause of and solution to all your personal problems.
He was probably going to have The Talk with you, about how he was just not into you, and how wrong you’d been about Natasha, and then he’d drop the bomb and tell you all about his love for this mystery girl he’d been texting during his date.
It was probably Rosie.
Your stomach twisted in knots again. He had fallen for Rosie, hadn’t he?
He’d warned you - he’d suggested that maybe Rosie would be the one to make him change his ways.
What had you done?
“It’s been a rough day,” he added dejectedly, letting his hand fall to his side. “Saturdays are supposed to be better than this, right?”
Rough day? Was it realizing Nat wasn’t all he wanted? Or did something happen with Rosie?
The pain in your stomach got worse, and this time it was coupled with anxiety. That happened a lot around him anymore. “I don’t know, Bucky, I’m kind of tired, so I-“
“Please? Just for a bit. I really want to talk to my best friend.”
His pleading expression made all your protests disappear. Friends..that’s what you were, and that’s what you’d stay. As long as you didn’t lose him…
“Okay,” you agreed softly. “Just for a little bit.”
He nodded, then opened the door wider, silently inviting you inside.
You took a deep breath, then a few hesitant steps forward.
