Dunno why this came to mind...maybe calculating Jakurai’s deal here...Who knows but here I am imagining how much schooling these boys have gone through.
As a note, I am not saying their schooling level as any jab to them. All people are different. Some would prefer going to school, some do not have the opportunity and some have other things to do. It really is many reasons why they would or wouldn’t go on. And I’m just guessing what I think they’ve done based off information we have of them.
Buster Bros!!!
Ichiro I feel only completed compulsory school and some of high school. He was too busy supporting the orphanage and his brothers to really keep up with it. And considering Yorozuya Yamada is likely their only source of income, he hasn’t really gone back either. I don’t that particularly bothers Ichiro since while he wasn’t bad at school he wouldn’t say he liked it either.
Jiro is at the age where he didn’t have to go to school anymore but Ichiro made him stay. As it was just better options for Jiro if he does finish school. He also doesn’t go to cram school as 1) he can’t stand school as is, 2) he likely goes to help Ichiro with the business and 3) there’s a chance they can’t afford to send him. Despite the latest drama tracks, I don’t see school being a point of contention between them even if Jiro doesn’t like school. I don’t see him pursuing a traditional higher education, if he even goes at all.
Saburo is still in compulsory school as far as I understand so it’s not really a question of if he goes. But obviously Ichiro would want him to stay. Especially him because he’s good at it and seems to like it. That and it might help Saburo’s social skills to have to be around kids his age. For the most of the same reasons, Saburo doesn’t do cram school either. If anything he probably could tutor if he didn’t get so easily frustrated with people. I do feel he could make it to the top schools when he gets older but I see an interest in going overseas for uni.
Mad Trigger Crew
Samatoki I don’t think went past compulsory schooling. He was too busy with yakuza stuff to really deal with school. I see him getting into a lot of fights over his background, namely badmouthing of his parents. He probably had Nemu stay though because he wanted her to have options. I think he’s really good with money even though he probably hasn’t had to worry about it for a long time
Jyuto I initially was gonna say did go to college but researching a little bit, he probably didn’t. He only would need to finish high school and pass exams. Which I feel he was prepared for. Like I think he’s been set on being a cop for a long time and worked for that. Which is why I’ll also go out on a limb and say that in high school this boy was a runner so he was also in shape for his training when he passed exams. I also think Jyuto was a good boy student.
Rio likely went into military service as soon as he could, which I believe is 18 over there. It’s a little harder to tell about how the service was since the world of hypmic is one that had another war, so it’s likely his time was busier than what it would be normally for someone in the navy. He absolutely could’ve gone to uni and come back to get a better rank but I don’t think Rio really cared about that aspect of it. (This man knows communications and some hacking, you cannot tell me he couldn’t have gone far) I will say he likely took advantage of his half-American status and is fluent in English as it would’ve been useful for joint exercises with the states. I think the dissolution of the navy really shot him in the foot but he’s just too resourceful to keep down with that.
Fling Posse
Ramuda...obviously didn’t. And I don’t think his records would show anything. Like if it had to show anything, it would probably show him going to a super large school where it’s completely possible no one knows who the hell he was (because he was never there). And if he was based off someone, he likely had some of his credentials taken from them. He understand the culture of schooling though, I mean his style and personality does seem to draw girls high school age and older.
Gentaro is pretty hard to imagine to be honest. I don’t see him enjoying his school life and being around classmates for an extended amount of time. And while I think he could’ve spent some time in academia in literary research, I also see him finding it way too stuffy for writing. But I think ultimately...he went to uni for a short time. For some reason I just don’t see him vibing with how the system is for it.
Dice did not. I don’t think he finished high school although he could’ve if he wanted. But he probably avoids it because it’d be an easier way to keep track of him and run contrary to his stray sort of life style.
Matenrou
Jakurai...is a doctor...I sure HOPE he went to school for his profession. So he studied some of the stuff you need for doctoring during his time as an assassin but he didn’t actually go into studying to be a doctor until he quit his killing at 23. He probably went into the national defense medical college, which seems to be 6 year program but you have an extra 2-3 years of compulsory service with it. I think he likely finished his compulsory service, at the latest, a year before the Dirty Dawg timeline. Or OR he faked his schooling and just knew the equivalent knowledge from his time as an assassin and was able to pass his exams and later studied whatever he lacked. He’s basically fully legally certified NOW, don’t worry...
Hifumi I just can’t see going past high school. Like I’ve always seen the incident happening in his last year of high school and it made it difficult for him to even finish. And considering he claimed in the first Matenrou drama track that he didn’t find a way to live with his phobia until he was 20...I don’t think he went. Not that he would’ve been interested in it. Hifumi is interested in what he likes and wouldn’t want to put the effort either way. I don’t think he really cares and he has more than enough skills (and money) to do just about whatever he wants.
Doppo likely went to uni. He couldn’t get into the real prestigious schools and knew he couldn’t so just went for wherever he could get into rather than wait to test again. I feel like his degree is in either accounting or business. I think he had a part-time while in school to pay for it since it seems like his family might not be as well off or he didn’t want to burden his parents (in a passing conversation I think he mentioned paying for his brother’s exams or schooling). For some reason I also can see him having a minor in biology because I see him either knowing a lot about plants or knowing a lot about marine life. What kind of person just thinking of a water flea for like a small creature?
Dotsuitare Hompo
Sasara I feel like he didn’t go past high school. Not that he couldn’t. Just that he didn’t find a need to? Not when he was set on going into comedy. Like it was either make it or be trapped with his family. And he was hard noooope.
Rosho....is a teacher? I sure HOPE he went for his teaching certificate. I don’t think he was going to initially and might not have while he was doing the comedy game with Sasara? Their time line is a little fuzzy, I haven’t found the indicator of if Rosho and Sasara disbanded before he went to MCD or after. If it was before, then yes he went to school after they disbanded. If not, then he was in school while doing the manzai thing. So yeah dual major of mathematics (or statistics) and education (he didn’t need both but I have faith in him).
Rei most definitely went to fucking uni. This bastard would let you think he didn’t but he did. He’s probably a fucking doctor or just shy of it. Drives me mad. Why am I sure? Because if Rei is behind the hypnosis mics. As in the designer and/or inventor of it, he is a scientist or engineer of some type. I see him having a degree in either biotechnology or neuroscience. I learn towards the latter because I feel like he also got a minor in psychology (or y’know what, business is possible too for a minor). Just to mess with people.
Bad Ass Temple
Kuko I feel was the same as Ichiro in that he went to high school but not necessarily finishing it. I don’t believe he would’ve had to...if anything he’s gone back to his teachings at his temple. Yet it seems he doesn’t do that either so I’m not sure. I just don’t think he did anything past high school.
Jyushi I think he might’ve just finished high school? I don’t know if he was just finishing or he’s soon to be doing exams. But I think he’s going to finish regardless. Y’know I feel like Jyushi would’ve liked going to uni. I can’t think of what he’d go to school for though! Would it be adding too much work to a passion if he did something with music theory?
Hitoya...is a lawyer? So yeah? And you have to wonder if Hitoya is a masochist or loves to learn or what have you. Because he was in medical school WITH Jakurai. And then when they part ways, he quits and then goes into LAW. Are you kidding me? Hitoya, Hitoya please...I looked it up, he HAS to be a masochist! Law in Japan is super hard to get into! It has one of the most difficult bar exams to exist! What are you doing, man??? Although...I think Hitoya is still fairly new as a lawyer though because him starting when I assume Jakurai started school at 23, would have him only being fully practicing for 5 years. And that’s assuming he dropped out the first year and not later...which would only shrink he years outside. Unless whatever he got for his bachelors was applicable for law too (behavioral science?)...either way, yes he’s done it and he sure does do a lot to beat a guy that doesn’t even know they’re competing.

Episode 8 is one hella packed episode and it is an absolute joy to unpack it, beginning with this:
Clever, clever idea to have Ji-Woo repeat the line that Mi-Joo just said to indicate Ji-Woo is taking charge of things as far as Assemblyman Ki is concerned. It's also a good reminder of how tone and intent can change the meaning of a sentence even if the words are exactly the same (which is why we need good translators).
Seeing Mi-Joo stride across the screen with Seon-Gyeom behind her, it struck me that we've seen a variation of this many times before, beginning with the credit titles. While Seon-Gyeom is the sprinter, the one we see constantly trying to up the pace and charge ahead is Mi-Joo. She's always intent on moving ahead faster — perhaps to outrun the past that she finally makes peace with during the marathon? — while Seon-Gyeom moves at a slower pace, disentangling himself from the constraints of his troubled past and troubling father. The only one time we see him race ahead (in episode 2), we also see him come back and slow down.
What I particularly love about Park Shi-Hyun's writing is that in addition to all the layers and complexity she's written into the scenes and characters, she's also written a very, very funny show.
Both Shin Se-Kyung and Kang Tae-Oh do such a fantastic job with both the physical humour (without being over-the-top) and the timing that's needed to play up the wit in the dialogues. Not that Siwan and Soo-Young do a bad job — the scene in which Dan-Ah proposes to Seon-Gyeom is hilarious. My favourite is still May, who is very funny throughout this episode (the shot in which we learn she sleeps with her eyes open! GOLD).
The transitions in this episode are so well written. The insights from one scene ricochet off the next. For example, Dan-Ah in the scene at the bar — where she tells the bartender she can't risk keeping the book in her own study because she can't risk people guessing she has anxieties — gives us a look at the problems of the privileged. This is followed by a scene in which Yeong-Hwa and Mi-Joo discuss student debts, which is a relatable middle-class problem. This in turn is followed by Tae-Woong saying that he takes selfies because he's addicted to the validation he gets from the likes each of those photos gets him — a Gen Z problem. And so it is that we get a spectrum of problems that people face and hide behind performative façades.
The likes that Tae-Woong talks about pop up with manic frenzy at the end of the heartbreaking scene with Dan-Ah in the parking lot, presenting the viewer with a terrible contrast — driving away from him is the love and acceptance that he yearns for from a sister who (he hopes) knows him. All he has to hold on to is the superficial attention of the love professed by a fandom that doesn't really know him at all. Soo-Young's performance is fantastic in this scene, especially when she asks in a voice tinged with desperation why Tae-Woong keeps coming back to her despite her treating him so badly. For the first time, you realise how much it takes out of her to lash out at this desperately-sad boy. "It takes effort to hate someone," Tae-Woong tells her. My heart!
Another fantastic set of transitions comes later on in the episode, when Mi-Joo and May are unwinding at the end of a long day at the film shoot.
This is such a great example of writing inter-generational female friendships. When May remembers not being paid for working overtime, it's an acknowledgement that things are better for working women (especially in film) than it was before, but as Mi-Joo's experiences show, there's still a lot to be done because women are still driven by a certain insecurity and anxiety to push themselves way too hard (as we see a sick Mi-Joo do later in the episode).
Of course a man tries to break this gathering up — because he wants to go to bed. Superb excuse, particularly because these women are talking how much they have to work — and it is deeply satisfying to watch all three of them shut him down and establish their right to unwind.
This scene of female friendship is followed by one that shows the friendship between the three runners. Then we get to see a fight scene full of male actors. The machismo of that performance is a sharp contrast to the awkward tenderness of Woo-Sik and Yeong-Il's conversation.
While on the subject of toxic masculinity, this is the episode in which we find out Dan-Ah's father forged Myeong-Min's birth certificate to make him legally older than Dan-Ah even though he's actually 10 months younger than her. All to ensure he has a male heir. It's a nice detail that Myeong-Min's mother is the one laying out the memorial service for Dan-Ah's mother because it hints at a sense of solidarity.
Also dismantling traditional notions of masculinity is Seon-Gyeom, whom we see at his most domestic as he cooks and packs meals for May and Mi-Joo, and does chores around the house once they're gone. It's very much an inversion of the standard male-female gender roles with the woman going out to work and the man as the homemaker. To underscore this point, we see Seon-Gyeom consider the leopard-print shirt (that May and Mi-Joo hang to give strangers the impression they've got an alpha in the house) for a second before putting it away.
Speaking of alphas, Mi-Joo's really got a thing for wild cats. In addition to that shirt, her blanket is also a leopard-print and when we see her calling Seon-Gyeom, she's standing in front of a painting of a tiger. All these seem to be digs at her posturing that she's strong and invulnerable and I burst out laughing when Seon-Gyeom folds the leopard-print blanket while muttering, "I'd have guessed this is hers even if she hadn't told me."
As disinterested as Seon-Gyeom may be in films, they play a big role in sustaining him emotionally. In this episode, it's the film set that helps Mi-Joo and him come together after their stupid disagreement. Equally importantly, the film set is where he gets the time and space to reconnect with his mother.
Run On has so much fun being meta with the film bits. The film shoot within a drama is indeed an old fake.
There are two film sets we see in this episode — one with Ji-Woo and the other with Mi-Joo. While Ji-Woo's set feels relaxed, the one Mi-Joo's working in is chaotic and taxing. The two women are also at different ends of the professional spectrum. Ji-Woo is a star while Mi-Joo is not just working behind the scenes, but she's come to fill in for the person who was the juniormost member of the crew.
When pointing out the main players of their film crew to Mi-Joo and May, Hui-Jin describes the cinematographer as "a bit racist, but still a gentleman". (Mi-Joo's response is superb: "Weird.") It's an interesting choice to make the cinematographer racist because that's the crew member who decides how subjects and scenes will be framed. "Racist but a gentleman" feels like a precise summary of the orientalist perspective which (aside from being overwhelmingly masculine) shows the East through stereotypes that are often superficially beautiful, but also reductive and damaging. Not surprisingly, this cinematographer is the reason Mi-Joo flounders while translating on set.
The film set is also the first time that Seon-Gyeom sees Mi-Joo's vulnerable side when she falls ill. It's such a clever choice to have Mi-Joo stop performing in a setting that's all about performances. Not only does Mi-Joo give up the alpha act when she's sick, she admits to Seon-Gyeom that when she's feeling helpless, her instinct is to resort to a performative lie — calling out for mom because that's what she saw other kids do as a child in a sick ward (imagine how isolated and neglected she must have felt to do this. Also, she's felt this way so many times that this performance has become second nature to her).
The anecdote suggests Mi-Joo's mulish championing of her self has its roots in past incidents when she tried to fit and either failed or was rejected. And yet, for all her strength and confidence, she's chasing phantoms and has been doing so since she was a little girl. All because she was alone and didn't have anyone she could reach out to for help. Which is why what Seon-Gyeom tells her at the end of the episode is so relevant. He helps her to reorient.
To which Mi-Joo, bless her leopard-print-loving heart, responds with
But my favourite part of this episode is the conversation that Ji-Woo has with Seon-Gyeom when he visits her set. First of all, Ji-Woo is playing a "vegan murderer", which is brilliant as ideas go and it's adorable how delighted she is about her violent roles.
I love how Run On doesn't punish Ji-Woo for sacrificing her family life for her work. Instead, it holds out the possibility that it is ok if you have that imbalance. In this scene, we see Ji-Woo's family reforming at the film set with Eun-Bi sending the coffee truck and Seon-Gyeom showing up just because Ji-Woo asked him to be there.
The mother-son conversation gives us a glimpse of Seon-Gyeom's bleak childhood and we learn that everything Seon-Gyeom did for his father was actually him doing what his mother had asked him to do. It comes as a surprise to Seon-Gyeom that his mother has noticed what he's suffered and that she understands how he'd hoped silently suffering would keep the family together. It's almost as though he's feeling seen for the first time.
Much like Dan-Ah, Ji-Woo may seem self-centred because of her ambitiousness, but she does notice what's happening beyond the obvious, especially when it comes to people she cares about. Both women are up against the worst of patriarchy. Also, I love that when she's talking about motherhood, Ji-Woo is blood-spattered — after all, being a working woman and a mother in a patriarchal is nothing short of fighting a war.
In previous episodes, it seemed as though Ji-Woo was the 'bad' (or at least not ideal) mother while Director Dong was the ideal, modern mother. Yet in comparison to how Director Dong later reacts to her son coming out, you can't help but feel Ji-Woo, with her unconditional support for her kids, might just be the better parent. What is great about Run On though is that that the script doesn't pit the two older women against each other as competing examples of motherhood or femininity. The point is that everyone's struggling, making mistakes and trying to learn from them. Ji-Woo is doing that and so will Director Dong eventually.
Love that the scene ends with Seon-Gyeom effectively declaring himself his mother's son. Take that, patriarchy.

Hello, I was wondering what it looks like to pursue chaplaincy as a lay queer Catholic. What does getting an M.Div look like when you're not going to become a pastor? What did your route to becoming a chaplain look like? Sorry if this is a vague question, I'm just curious as a queer Catholic thinking about my options in ministry.
Hello dear one! I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to reply to this message - it’s been a full few days for me.
So, I firstly want to preface all of this by saying that hospital chaplaincy is, as a profession, a very unique space that requires a unique skillset. While there are some similarities, being a professional, board-certified hospital chaplain is a very unique process as compared to being a prison chaplain, college chaplain, police chaplain, etc. If you haven’t already, I STRONGLY encourage you to take some time looking through the websites for the Association of Professional Chaplains, the National Association of Catholic Chaplains, and the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education. In sum, after your M. Div., you are then required to do a year-long Clinical Pastoral Education residency at a hospital, and after your residency you still need to work an additional 2,000 hours before applying for board certification (the process I’m in now, having finished my residency in August 2020) through either the Association of Professional Chaplains or National Association of Catholic Chaplains (or both, if you want to really go above and beyond).
So, it’s a lengthy, challenging process - not gonna lie.
For me, getting an M. Div. was a fantastic experience. My divinity school had a diverse international body of lay students, religious sisters and brothers of many orders and congregations, and ordination-track students in the same cohort, so I studied, worked, and ministered alongside seminarians and priests throughout my M. Div. While there were no other openly-queer folx in my M.Div. cohort (besides my fiancé, lol, but that’s a different story...) there was a very solid community of us at the school in general (M.Div. students from other cohorts and folx in different graduate programs, such as MTS or PhD). We all met regularly for brunch, prayer, socializing, outings, educational presentations, and hosted a conference on queer theology once a year. (And, yes, this is a Catholic divinity school with an ecclesiastical faculty).
During my M. Div., I did my first unit of Clinical Pastoral Education, which was an incredibly challenging but also fantastic experience. It felt like what I came to divinity school to do, the place where theology and spirituality could actually make a real, tangible difference in someone’s life at the darkest, hardest, most isolating moments. As scary and overwhelming as it was, it felt like my call to ministry - for now, and for this season in my life, at least.
At this point, the biggest potential hiccup in this process is getting endorsement from the Church, which is a necessary step in the board certification process. Since professional hospital chaplaincy in this country has historically been dominated by mainline Protestants (and still is, although this is changing slowly), most of the endorsement process is very much set up to privilege ordination as de facto endorsement, which makes getting certification as a layperson harder; even harder still makes trying to get endorsement as an openly gay, partnered Catholic. I am currently very much in the midst of navigating how I am going to go about seeking endorsement, as there are other routes for me to take if my bishop chooses not to endorse me. The Federation of Christian Ministries is an organization that folx have historically turned to for endorsement when they can’t get endorsement from their own institutions (for whatever reason, such as being a woman in a denomination that does not endorse women, queer in a denomination that does not endorse queer people, etc.). So, there are options for us lay queer Catholics to pursue ministry, even if, unfortunately, it means we have to do a lot more work than our cis-het peers.
As much work as all of this sounds, the biggest piece of advice I have to give you is this: just do it! I spent a lot of the first few months of my ministry terrified that the bishop was going to, I don’t know, find out that there was a lay ecclesial minister who was openly gay and partnered in his diocese, call the hospital, and... what? Get me fired? Tell me I couldn’t call myself Catholic anymore? Forbid me from taking patients Eucharist? Make my parish priest bar me from Mass?
The institutional and cultural homophobia in so many Catholic spaces can work into your psyche so deeply that it isn’t until you really stop an interrogate your own limitations that you realize that, actually, you can just do it. I applied to a Catholic divinity school with an ecclesiastical faculty and got in; I aced Canon Law; I spent two days writing and then orally defending my comprehensive synthesis exams; I wrote paper after paper on Christology, ecclesiology, Biblical studies, ethics, and Church histories... and no one stopped me. I ministered for a summer as a lay Catholic, and no one stopped me. I applied for a chaplain residency, got in, and spent a year ministering in the hospital as a lay Catholic, and no one stopped me. And I did all of this as an openly gay man.
The fact is, when I walk into a patient’s room, they rarely ask or even care what my sexual orientation is or what my religious identity is. They often ask something along the lines of “What church are you from,” but as chaplains we are trained to provide spiritual care to people of every spiritual tradition and people of no tradition at all.
That being said, one of the most attractive things to me about hospital chaplaincy as a lay queer Catholic is that I do not work for the institutional Church. As I’ve said, being a professional board-certified chaplain requires seeking endorsement from one’s institutional church, and I certainly hope to receive such endorsement (even though I think it’s unlikely), but at the end of the day I am an employee of the hospital and skilled-nursing facility where I work, not an employee of the Church. Being a professional hospital chaplain is something that is open to everybody with the right training and qualifications, just like being a nurse, physician, or physical therapist. I know atheists and people who identify as spiritual-but-not-religious who are also professional chaplains. We are professionals with extensive training, education, and supervision, and while our personal religious and spiritual identifies are sometimes explicitly significant, the vast majority of the time they are not.
Wow, that was a lot, but I hope I answered at least a few of your questions and gave you a few things to think about. I’ll be praying for you on your journey!
Blessings.

Toptal Scholarship | Mentorship for Women in STEM
When my generation starts to imagine their future, instead of hope and the image of greener grass, we stop and shudder. The vision of wars over fundamental resources like water and food, massively shrinking coastlines, and the decimated rainforests encompass the mind. Our vision of our future is interrupted by the fact that if our society does not change our current course, we will have no future at all. A gloom and sense of defeat sets over me when I think of a future without the necessary changes, but I refuse to succumb to despair. I do not want this vision of the future.
In elementary and middle school, I would do all I could to live a more sustainable life; I started a recycling club, read every book from the library I could on the facts and figures of climate change, and would collect and sort all trash I could find. All the adults in my life would smile and pat my head, they would say I was adorable but that climate change would be solved by the time I was an adult. As I grew up, I saw scientists and experts get drowned out by confident, louder voices. I grew up in Los Angeles, the city of cars and when I was inevitably stuck in traffic, I would look around and see a sea of little combustion generators all making the problem incrementally worse. I would see myself, a hypocrite, sitting in my gas guzzler and know that we deserve better.
In many moments similar to that one, I decided that I want to be someone to help directly solve this problem. A global crisis like climate change requires global collective action as our world’s economy runs off of a source that is hurting us.
I want to help engineer sustainable transportation and electric power for the world. My vision for the future is one that involves human life living with their basic needs powered by a source that does not harm us. I decided to become an electrical engineer, with a focus on engineering systems to support sustainable transportation and power.
In some aspects, this was an obvious choice. I love transportation. I love moving on and the joy and surprise that comes with venturing to a new place or a blissful familiar one. It's what moves society. I love bikes, cars, long roads, planes, and rockets because they get us to where we need to go, and there is nothing more fundamental to humans than the ability to move forward. I hope to make technology that will move us forward in a sustainable way.
However, in my first ~18 years of life, I can never recall meeting a scientist or an engineer, or especially a female scientist or engineer for that matter. The closest I got was a Barbie in a lab coat. And as much as I adore Barbie, I knew that engineers existed but they did not exist on my radar. They did things that always seemed a few footsteps removed away from my life or consciousness; I knew that calculus existed but never as something that I would ever do.
My entire family are teachers and lawyers, and while they are respectable and necessary professions, I always saw myself becoming a teacher and never thought much of it.
The mentorship opportunities the Toptal Scholarship offers are invaluable to me, as I do not have adult guidance in my field. I think I know what I want, but I would love to have a mentor who I could learn and listen to. I would especially value a female mentor as women only earn 12.5% of the Electrical Engineering Bachelors' degrees, according to the American Society of Engineering Education.
I remember sitting in Calculus 1 on the first day of my freshman year of college, shaking and anxiously looking around the massive lecture hall for a familiar face. From my position at the leftie desk, I calmed myself by attempting to count the number of other girls in the class. The professor began his lecture while I was only halfway through the room but the class was about 35% female and I felt a little relieved. However, as the quarters became years, I saw the women dwindle away. I saw many of my female friends switch to different majors or drop out. Some of them genuinely did not like the material and chose to follow a different passion, but for many, their mental health deteriorated under the constant stress and pressure of engineering academia, in parallel with family obligations and toxic relationships.
I am no exception to this. For the majority of my freshman year, I was hopelessly lost and alone. I felt like the odd one out in all of my classes. I struggled tremendously with calculus and physics as I realized that I never learned how to properly learn in previous education. I needed a mentor, I needed someone who had been where I was and could tell me how they worked past it. While there are dozens of campus resources with STEM Girl-power language, and I appreciate the effort, it felt empty at a certain point. I almost quit engineering many more times than I am proud to admit. At that time I had no friends in STEM and a sexually abusive boyfriend that left me feeling silly and ridiculous for even trying.
However, it was my goal to help engineer a better tomorrow that kept me on my path and I am beyond thankful for that. Even though I am worlds more mentally healthy than I was in my freshman year of college, I still would value a female STEM mentor to help guide me. I want a woman I can look up to and I would appreciate the opportunity for one more than anything.
I decided that to help accomplish my goals outside of university, I would start by helping solve those problems through university organizations. I am very passionate about sustainable transportation and electric cars so I joined Formula Slug, UCSC’s Electric Racecar team. In my first year with them, I designed my first sustainable project, a solar charging station. In Formula Slug I learned a multitude of valuable skills like surface mount soldering, PCB design, TIG and MIG welding, project management, engineering logistics, AutoCAD Design, and project fundraising, leading our team to raise tens of thousands of dollars. By my junior year, I was Vice-President and Project Manager of our team.
At the same time, I am also very passionate about sustainable engineering and so me and a group of like-minded students formed the UCSC Chapter of Engineers without Borders. I was the founding Vice-President of UCSC-EWB and wrote several successful grant proposals for our project. Our main project is our solar project in Takui, Cameroon. The people and schools in Takui and towns nearby run on unreliable power and we are working to design a system that provides power and will function effectively for 10 years with minimum need for repairs. We designed and are implementing a solar micro-power grid and water purification system as well as selling individual home packages to provide power to the homes in Takui.
My connections from Formula Slug alumni got me an interview and internship at Joby Aviation, an electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) company as first a Software Certification Engineer and now as a Radio Frequency Electrical engineer. Joby’s goal is to create electric air taxis to replace the average person’s commute and help relieve the world’s reliance on fossil fuels. I am very proud and honored to be working for Joby because it brings me to my goal of working toward sustainable transportation for the masses.
My passion for using science to serve others is not simply within transportation engineering. I am also incredibly interested in biotechnology and nuclear energy. This interest has led me to recurrently begin working in UCSC’s nuclear medicine lab. Our team is designing an optimized PET scan for head and neck cancers. I have begun working as the lead of a sub-project, designing a detailed simulation of the positron emission topology scan in C++. This simulation will allow our team to know how changing different elements of our set-up will affect gamma-ray emission and therefore, where to put the ray emission suspectors. My research professor does not want me to publish my code on GIT publicly yet so I have not attached a GitHub link, I apologize.
I have many interests and passions but at the end of the day, I want to help engineer the world to be a better place. I would be honored to receive the Toptal scholarship and mentorship opportunities, but I understand that there are many distinguished applicants so I thank you for reading.

How To Turn Your Online Teaching Job Into A Lucrative Career
I’d like to start this post by saying that me five years ago would’ve never thought of becoming an online TEFL teacher. Honestly, I don’t think that most people who start teaching online do. However, teaching online has become one of the quickest ways for fresh out of college students to start working when they haven’t had much luck finding a job in their career choice. So if you are that person, keep reading this post. This blog is for you.
Here is how you can get a good paying job and/or make a lucrative career from teaching online.
1. Don’t Be Cheap: Make Sure You Get Certified From An Accredited TEFL program.
Really good TEFL programs are going to cost you roughly around $300-800 dollars. However, they are the best ones because they are affiliated with really good brick & mortar and online schools that you would have a hard time finding on your own. Also, make sure to do a lot of homework before you sign up to any program because there are two types of TEFL certificates to choose from; Level 3 and Level 5.
Level 3 is best for people who speak English fluently but are not native speakers. You have a high chance of getting hired by non-competitive companies. Level 5 is suitable for people who are native to near native speakers and their certificate is like a foundation degree. That means you will have a higher chance of being accepted by competitive companies.
I did not know this prior to completing my TEFL program, so I have a Level 3 certificate. It still got me a reasonably good online teaching job, but I probably would’ve received less rejections and a better base pay if my certificate was a level 5. If you made this same mistake, you can fix that by getting a CELTA. Please be advised that all CELTA programs are over $1000.
2. Be Patient: Add A Second Online Job To Your Main Teaching Job.
This is the most popular option. A lot of teachers will work with at least two schools. However, it can be challenging to keep both because most online language schools run during the same hours.
For this to be successful, wait for at least a year before looking for a second teaching job. Then when you are offered a second contract make your first contract your main teaching job. Don’t make the new job the main one just because it may pay better. Since I’ve started teaching I’ve been offered three contracts. The second and third contract paid more than my first job at the time, however, my first school has always been loyal to me and showed me the most respect. Because I sustained a good relationship with them, I've always been approved full time hours, I get fully booked classes, and I even been offered a raise. Be patient when doing this. It will pay off in the end.
3. Never Stop Learning: Learn A Second Language And Acquire More Certifications.
Learning a second language opens a wide range of opportunities for you concerning income. Once you’ve gained teaching experience and can speak a second language to near fluency, you can turn your teaching job to your own business. A common way to do this is opening up a profile in an online marketplace. There are no contracts and you can set your own rates. However, you have to learn how to market yourself so this also takes time.
Also acquire other skills like, going back to school to get a Master’s Degree. If you’re not interested in a Master’s degree, you can participate in a teacher internship certification program in your state so that you can become licensed to teach in public schools. This could open opportunities to teach at a university, work in other fields related to the eLearning industry or refresh your skills related to TEFL teaching to keep them up to date with the latest business trends. Yes, all of this will cost money and time but it will pay off in the end because you are investing in yourself. Since you are an independent contractor you will be able to write these expenses off in your taxes.
These are three ways to turn online teaching from a supplemental part time job to a lucrative career.
Online teaching has been one of those hidden gems for me because it’s still one of those professions that is not very competitive. I’ve chosen to take that as an advantage because it’s non-competitiveness has open so many doors for me. Doing this job with an open mind has led me to come up with ways to be successful.
I will add that although a teacher will make enough to feel like a fully functioning adult they may never reach or make six figures. However, it's a great way to get started as you are still figuring things out.
The more homework I’ve done for myself concerning this field the more I learned how to branch from one thing to another to create a career track that I can honestly say I am satisfied with. I hope this info was helpful. If you’d like more content, please follow my blog and/or share with friends who may find this info useful.

Japan is big news - YEAH!
why?
In 2019, Finland has the best schools but not recognized in the USA. Why? Gov. run schools can indoctrinate students.
Also, in many countries, the United States included, students’ economic backgrounds often determine the quality of the education they receive. Richer students tend to go to schools funded by high property taxes, with top-notch facilities and staff that help them succeed. In districts where poorer students live, students often get shoddy facilities, out-of-date textbooks, and fewer guidance counselors.
Not in Japan - ranked 2nd. According to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), a group of 35 wealthy countries, Japan ranks highly among its peers in providing its rich and poor students with equal educational opportunities: The OECD estimates that in Japan only about 9 percent of the variation in student performance is explained by students’ socioeconomic backgrounds. The OECD average is 14 percent, and in the United States, it’s 17 percent. “In Japan, you may have poor areas, but you don’t have poor schools,”
John Mock, an anthropologist at Temple University’s Japan campus, told me.
Perhaps as a result, fewer students in Japan struggle and drop out of school—the country’s high-school graduation rate, at 96.7 percent, is much higher than the OECD average and the high-school graduation rate in the United States, which is 83 percent. Plus, poorer children in Japan are more likely to grow up to be better off in adulthood, compared to those in countries like the U.S. and Britain (though Scandinavian countries lead in this regard). “It’s one of the few [education] systems that does well for almost any student,” Andreas Schleicher, who oversees the OECD's work on education and skills development, told me, adding, “Disadvantage is really seen as a collective responsibility.”
For instance, in the village of Iitate, which was evacuated after being contaminated by radiation after the Fukushima nuclear-power-plant disaster in March 2011, many families still have not come back. Piles of contaminated soil, covered up, still dot the landscape, and many homes are shuttered. The local primary school has just 51 students, compared to more than 200 before the accident. Yet the quality of education given to returnees is top-notch.
The government built a new school for students outside the radiation zone, in a town called Kawamata, and though the classes are still very small—first grade has only two students—the school is well staffed. In a classroom I visited, all five second-graders in the school watched a teacher demonstrate flower-arranging as three other teachers surrounded them, helping them with each step. In another, a math teacher quizzed students on odd and even numbers, and as the students split into groups to discuss a problem on the board, another teacher leaned in to help. Walking around the school, it almost seemed there were as many teachers as students.
“The quality of education is better than before March 11th [2011],” Tomohiro Kawai, a parent of a sixth-grader and the president of the school’s parent-teacher association, told me, citing the low student-teacher ratio. Many of the children who returned to the area are from single-parent families, a group prone to struggling economically; some parents moved back to Iitate because they needed help from their own parents in watching their children, according to Satoko Oowada, one of the school’s teachers. But the federal government takes pains to prevent economic hardship from affecting the quality of students’ education. It gave a grant to Iitate so that all students in the school would get free lunch, school uniforms, notebooks, pencils, and gym clothes. “Equality of education is very important for children in Iitate Village,” the school’s principal, Takehiko Yoshikawa, told me. “Everywhere, students receive the same education.”
The equity in Iitate stands in stark contrast to a place like New Orleans, which was also hit by a disaster. While Japan’s national government tried to ensure that students in the affected area got more resources after the accident, officials in New Orleans disinvested in the public educational system in their city. Public-school teachers were put on leave and dismissed, many students disappeared from schools’ rolls, and the New Orleans system now consists almost entirely of charter schools. (To be sure, New Orleans is something of an outlier—districts in New York and New Jersey, for example, received federal money to help deal with Hurricane Sandy’s impact on education.)
There are a number of reasons why Japan excels in providing educational opportunities. One of them is how it assigns teachers to schools. Teachers in Japan are hired not by individual schools, but by prefectures, which are roughly analogous to states. Their school assignments within the prefecture change every three years or so in the beginning of their careers, and then not quite as often later on in their careers. This means that the prefectural government can make sure the strongest teachers are assigned to the students and schools that need them the most. “There’s a lot going on to redirect the better teachers, and more precious resources, towards the more disadvantaged students,” Schleicher said.
It also means that teachers can learn from different environments. Young teachers are exposed to a series of different talented peers and learn from their methods. That’s a big contrast to some place like the United States, said Akihiko Takahashi, a onetime teacher in Japan and now an associate professor of elementary math at DePaul University’s College of Education. “Here in the U.S., the good teachers go to the good schools and stay there the whole time,” he told me.
Japan’s educational equality is also a matter of how funds are distributed. Teacher salaries are paid from both the national government and from the prefectural government, and so do not vary as much based on an area’s median household earnings (or, more often, property values). The same goes for the funding of building expenses and other fees—schools get more help from the national government than they would in the U.S. According to Takahashi, the Japanese educational system aims to benefit all students. Their system is really carefully designed to have equal opportunity nationwide,” he said. This contrasts with the U.S. education system, he said, which he judges to raise up the best students but often leave everyone else behind.
What’s more, Japan actually spends less on education than many other developed countries, investing 3.3 percent of its GDP in education, compared to the OECD average of 4.9 percent. It spends $8,748 per student at the elementary school level, compared to the $10,959 that the United States spends. But it spends the money wisely. School buildings are not much to look at. Textbooks are simple and printed in paperback, and students and teachers are responsible for keeping schools clean. Japan also has fewer administrators on campuses—there is usually just a principal and a few vice principals, and not many others in the way of staff.
.
Despite the country’s relatively low spending on education, Japan’s teachers are paid more than the OECD average. And the profession has high barriers to entry: Much like the bar exam for American lawyers, Japan’s teacher entrance exams, which are administered by prefectures, are very difficult. Oowada told me she took the Fukushima Prefecture teaching exam five times before she passed it. She’s now a permanent teacher, guaranteed a pension and a job in the prefecture until age 60; she said that the year she passed, 200 people took the test, and only five passed. (Her co-teacher, Yuka Iinuma, had still not passed the test, and was working as a one-year contract teacher, moving from school to school each year. Many people who think they want to become teachers eventually give up when they can’t pass the exam, Oowada and Iinuma told me.) And even after their full certification, teachers have an incentive to perform better and better, as every three years they get reviewed for a promotion.
There are of course some downsides to being a teacher in Japan. Because they feel responsible for all students in their classes, teachers often spend lots of time outside of normal hours helping students who are falling behind. Yoshikawa, the school principal, told me of a teacher from Iitate who, when there was a gasoline shortage that prevented him from driving, rode his bike 12 miles to school each day from the evacuation zone to Kawamata, which includes an impressively hilly stretch. One teacher in Tokyo I talked to, who didn’t want her name used, said it wasn’t uncommon to work from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and said some teachers stayed until 9 at night. (There are teachers’ unions in Japan, but their power has eroded somewhat in recent years.)
Still, Japanese teachers are rewarded with a great deal of autonomy on how to improve student outcomes, Takahashi said. In a process called a “lesson study,” teachers research and design a new lesson over a set time period, and then present it to other teachers, who give feedback. Teachers also join together to identify school-wide problems, and organize themselves into teams to address those problems, sometimes writing a report or publishing a book on how to solve them, he said. “It’s not about an individual star teacher, but about teamwork,” he said.
Schleicher says that teachers’ focus on pedagogy contributes to the Japanese education system’s equality. The emphasis, he says, is not as much on absorbing content as it is on teaching students how to think. “They really focus on problem-solving, which means the ability to attack problems they had never seen before,” Takahashi said. In subjects like math, Japanese teachers encourage problem-solving and critical thinking, rather than memorization.
For instance, Japanese students were explicitly taught how to solve just 54 percent of the problems on the international Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) test, but received an average score of 565, according to the Lesson Study Alliance, an education nonprofit. Students in the U.S. were explicitly taught how to solve 82 percent of the problems, yet received a lower average score, 518. Ironically, some of these Japanese teaching methods came from the United States—in particular, from an American group, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, which urged American teachers to change their methods throughout the 1980s. But it was Japanese teachers who listened to this advice.
Indeed, in the math class I attended in Kawamata, there was a great deal of back and forth between the students and the teacher, who was asking the students increasingly difficult questions. Even after the bell rang, the discussion continued, with students running up to the board to try their hand at the problems. The teachers seemed particularly good at helping students develop complex problem-solving skills, and Schleicher theorizes that this is why the persistence of Japan’s “cram schools”—programs that many students attend after the school day to study for high-school or college entrance exams—doesn’t entirely disadvantage students who can’t afford to attend them; when students are taught how to think, they can still excel in tests on math, science, and reading.
Of course, there are other reasons that Japanese schools are more equitable than American ones—reasons that have more to do with features of the U.S.’s system. Japan has an extremely homogeneous population, which means that the racial segregation that persists in U.S. schools is a nonissue there. Japan also doesn’t track students into gifted programs, which means that all students share the same classroom, and better students are expected to help ones that are struggling. Tracking students may help the sharpest American students thrive, but it can also leave other students behind.
And wealthy students in Japan do hold several advantages over poorer ones. Child poverty is growing in Japan—about 20 percent of kids in Tokyo live in poverty, according to a recent government survey. I visited Kid’s Door, an organization in Tokyo that provides tutoring and after-school programs for children from low-income families. Yumiko Watanabe, the founder of Kid’s Door, told me that some poor students in Japan drop out of school because they can’t afford expenses like field trips or school uniforms. When I asked her about the OECD’s data indicating that Japan’s schools performed well in equally educating rich and poor students, she said that this might be true in elementary schools, but that as they get older, poor children get less help on homework from their parents since their parents are working. These families are also less likely to be able to afford tutors or other outside help. “There's a natural tendency to fall behind because they are not getting the support that wealthier children get,” she said.
One single mother, Shinobu Miwa, whose 16-year-old son attends programs at Kid’s Door, told me she was frustrated that she couldn’t send him to cram school and worried he’d be at a disadvantage. “He’s in a weak position compared to other families,” she said. He’ll likely face even more problems if he decides to go to college; Japan’s colleges are very expensive, and there are fewer scholarships available to poor students than there are in the U.S.
Japan’s schools can also be extremely stressful places for students, who are sometimes bullied if they fall behind. “As long as I performed well in school, things were okay. But once I started to deviate just a little—they [parents and teachers] went to the extreme and started treating me incredibly coldly,” one student told Anne Allison, a cultural anthropologist at Duke University who has written extensively on Japan. Japanese students are also expected to belong to after-school clubs for sports or dance, which can keep them at school until 6 p.m. “When they come home, it's already dark and all they have left to do is eat dinner, take a bath and do their home assignment and sleep,” the Tokyo teacher told me.
Despite these flaws, Japan’s educational system still sets an example for other countries to follow. That’s partly because Japan has different goals for its schools than somewhere like the United States does. “The Japanese education system tries to minimize the gap between the good students and everyone else,” Takahashi told me. That means directing more resources and better teachers to students or schools that are struggling. It also means giving teachers the freedom to work together to improve schools. This could be difficult to transplant to the United States, where education has long been managed on a local level, and where talk of sharing resources more often leads to lawsuits than it does to change. But Japan’s success is relatively recent, according to Schleicher. About 50 years ago, Japan’s schools were middling, he said. Countries can make their schools more equitable. They just need to agree that success for all students is a top priority.

Sadly, in the USA we’ve learned that Control of public school curriculum is a very desirable prize for those who seek to control the future.
A Proposal: The school administrator in charge of curriculum holds the responsibility of providing the destination and/or direction for the development and implementing a comprehensive school curriculum. Curriculum development for all disciplines necessitates the establishment of a districtwide curriculum council that meets on a monthly basis during the school year.
The curriculum council should consist of professional staff in leadership positions— that is, the curriculum director, building principals, department heads, team leaders, and others in leadership positions.
Council members should be cognizant of the school district’s mission, vision, philosophy, exit outcomes, program philosophies and rationale statements, program goals, program objectives, learning outcomes, learning activities, assessment, textbooks used (including publication year, edition, and condition), and so on.
The curriculum council should also select teacher representation for curriculum development. The representatives should be chosen using one of five methods: voluntary, rotation, evolvement, peer selection, or administrative selection.
The community also needs to get involved. How to get participation?

Coaching: The Probably Best #1 Solution for You Now.
When starting fresh and young after completing our formal education, the first thing that we usually have in mind is to look for a job. We have debts to pay or, in the best case, no money at all. Therefore, getting a job, being initially paid for what we have learned after all of those years, becomes our first priority.
Whether the first job we get is the one we ever dreamed of (very unlikely), or a temporary, low-paid, boring one (the most probable scenario), we are happy we got it, and we can start thinking ahead with a different perspective that when we were just broke-students.
This is the general process many people go through. What have we been studying for anyway if it’s not to get a job? To get money and start planning our future with a sense of independence which we have not had before?
Generally, we don’t have, at that moment, a clear picture of what we want to do. Except for remarkable exceptions, we keep taking decisions along the way, many times based on the circumstances around us rather than based on our true wishes and desires.
And we keep learning from our mistakes, getting distracted from our initial dreams and using too often words like ‘can’t’, ‘difficult’ or ‘impossible’. And more importantly, the people we turn to for guidance, being either our parents (who belong to another generation/reality) or our friends, are at the same level of awareness of the problem as we are.
I think it was Einstein who said: “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when created them”. Therefore, we do not find easy answers to our questions or doubts and keep trying and failing as we grow.
Consequence: progress in our life is hard and slow.
I fully subscribe in first person to that scenario. We all know people in our environment who we consider more ‘successful’ than us and less ‘successful’ than us (whatever our definition of success is), but I observed that almost everyone followed the pattern described above.
What would a better alternative be? A better solution to achieve faster what we want? To move in straighter lines or, for many people, even to keep moving?
Many years after I walked that above-described path I discovered coaching as being the alternative.
Very commonly used in the sporting world, it’s still in its infancy in the business world.
Among the benefits of using a coach, we will find
- Significant improvements in our performance,
- More clarity in what we do and why we do it,
- Better organization and effectiveness of our actions,
- Improvements in self-confidence, relationships, communication skills, and life/work balance,
And all of this will translate into faster results and higher satisfaction with what we do and with ourselves.
It’s difficult to see the ‘investment’ in a coach at the beginning of our careers. We rather see it as a ‘cost’ we cannot afford. A slight shift in our thinking can provide amazing results in whatever we do.
But, even though we have heard or read or been told of these advantages many times, there is still a resistance to reach out and look for a coach. Maybe we do not fully understand what a personal coach is.
Coach definition
A coach is nothing more (and nothing less) than a person who will keep you moving in the direction of whatever end result you would set for yourself, providing support, confidentiality, honesty, and an environment to explore possibilities that you may not see walking alone.
This is my personal definition. You can get hundreds of them out there.
We have to understand that coaching is not:
- Therapy
- Counseling
- Consultancy
- Mentorship
- Specialized advice
Therefore, the coach is not a person who will tell you what to do; the coach is a person who will help you discover what to do and what not to do, will support you in your decision, will encourage you to keep going and will make sure you are consistently and persistently moving in the direction towards what you what to achieve, to have or to be.
If you think about the fact that the most successful people (and again, we can turn to sports, but also applies in business) work with a coach, you can agree that it looks like they (the successful ones) cannot be so wrong.
But still many people resist working with a coach
Despite the explicit advantages of working with a coach (and this is the reason why the growth in this industry is so significant: in the US only, the coaching industry represented more than $1 billion in 2017), many people are still concerned about the benefits of working with a coach.
Out of so many reasons why people resist hiring a coach, I would point out three of them:
1. The coaching profession is unregulated, unlike most traditional professions.
There are many ‘schools of coaching’ with different approaches which award coaching credentials, ranging from top-rated and high standard courses to other than hand over a coaching certificate to you after a weekend training. This is the biggest challenge coaches face today: the number of incompetent and untrained coaches that are damaging the reputation of the industry.
Although any person with the right personal qualities, attitude, and professional ethics and standards could provide you with great results when working together on a coaching relationship, you want to make sure this person has some world-class organization behind, assessing his or her qualifications and aptitudes.
2. Sharing personal stuff with a stranger is uncomfortable.
This is not usually the reason we hear. We usually hear things like:
o Nobody knows me better than me
o I cannot afford to pay a coach
o I can manage without help
o I know someone who had a terrible experience with a coach
We do not use these ‘excuses’ when we go to a doctor, lawyer or tax advisor, even though they cost money, we have to tell them personal details or someone had a terrible experience with doctors, lawyers or tax advisors
Maybe a good similarity could be why many men do not visit their urologist to talk about sexual problems (it feels very uncomfortable) and only visit them when it’s related to kidney stones.
3. The coach is not an expert on anything other than coaching.
Why CEOs of Fortune 500 companies work with coaches?
Why world-stars in sports work with coaches?
Do these coaches know more about leading business than our CEO? Do they know more about tennis than the current #1 ATP player?
Of course not, but there is one thing coaches help them with, which give them a tremendous advantage: they point out areas of improvement, blind spots, that the CEO or #1 player cannot see. And this change everything.
The role of the coach is not being an expert. The role of the coach is helping you to get beyond your current limitations, beliefs, and level of awareness so you can change your current reality.
An unfair advantage to improve your situation
Having a coach gives us a tremendous advantage to move beyond our current situation faster and achieve our goals.
This profession did not exist when I finished College and started my career. I had to figure everything out by myself, by trial and error, by learning from people who had an aptitude to explore my potential that was not comparable with today’s professional coaches.
My recommendation, therefore, is for you not to repeat my experience.
Do your research and hire a coach.
When searching for a coach, look at two different aspects:
a) As per the school: Worldwide renowned school of coaching.
The top ones are: the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches (WABC), the International Coach Federation (ICF), and the International Association of Coaching (IAC).
Although their certification process differs, all of them have made great progress in creating and developing the most comprehensive, standardized and internationally-relevant models for accreditation in coaching.
Having all of them its specific approach, they all strive to meet ethical guidelines and high professional standards for their coaches to follow.
b) As per the coach: Make a little bit of research on the social media to ensure he or she has the proper expertise, background and professional experience to fit your requirements.
Unlike other professional disciplines, like, for instance, consultancy, a professional relationship with a coach, to be effective, is usually much longer. For this reason, selecting the most appropriate coach for you becomes a critical success factor.
Many coaching contracts extend for a minimum of one year and many coaches refuse to engage in coaching relationships if the period is below six months. It has been proved that these periods are the most beneficial for the client to experience significant improvements.
For that reason, do not rush. Take your time. Do your research, read what they post or write, interview them and choose the one you feel more comfortable with. The relation will be long.
And after experiencing a coaching relationship, I would love to hear from you and have your personal opinion shared so many others could benefit from it.
