it's a browser extension that you can use where it will flag certain websites, blogs, social media accounts, etc. as queer friendly or queerphobic by displaying the text as red or green depending. it doesn't work because it relies on user reports in order for something to appear red or green, which means that people can absolutely abuse it and mass report people just because they don't like them. it's on an honor system, it is not moderated from what i can tell, so everything goes to shit immediately, because the internet is full of trolls and vindictive people

plus, the creator of the extension has gone on to say that they support people who use shinigami eyes to flag transfemasc/transmascfem people, intersex people, AFAB trans women and AMAB trans men as queerphobic/red. like they've flat out stated they WANT people to report any of these individuals as queerphobic. it fucking sucks. i had it installed for a few months last year and it literally just didn't fucking work. my own blog was the only one i could see that was marked with colored text. it was marked green at the time but i'm probably red rn because i'm intersex & transfemasc and the creator & its users hate us.

like i cannot stress hard enough that the extension just did not even fucking work during the time i had it installed. i use firefox, a very common browser, so it was not an issue with my browser itself. i could not find other bloggers on here that had their URLs marked it was just my fucking own and random websites like the Daily Mail which i already know are transphobic as hell. like thanks, great fucking help. why the hell do i even need to see what my own blog is marked as i know my own politics

my thoughts on the deal with the toxic ex thing we’ve got going on from a late night noncoherent ramble hot take:

the whole billford shipping is so fascinatingly heinous and foul and complex and infuriating and interesting that i certainly can’t look away and i’m intrigued by seeing more of the billford sexy kinky shipping, like that’s not the right word for it but u get it. and i won’t be mad when i see it again but i will slightly shake my head disapprovingly because i know that no iteration of billford is in any ways healthy.

and as someone who’s been through DV and emotional abuse situations it’s kinda odd to me that ppl are making serious and silly takes on, oh no they’re fucking n sucking, they’re kinky af. (and i know that’s an oversimplification on that regard as well but just like for the point of this i think you get what i mean— like it’s in my hc that they hooked up after karaoke and maybe for a while after that it was like a partnersitustionship and in the year of our good lord and savior casual by chappell roan it’s a perfect addition to the lore timing wise)

but also it’s like, no they’re in an unfair power dynamic. sure they each come to it with unique sets of trauma and experience. but one participant is way older way “smarter” way more manipulative and to me there’s no way for that to be sexy. it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

i also, from experience was filled with an overwhelming sense of peace and relief at the end of the book of bill when ford lets his family into his world, into his inner trauma, and they embrace him. they tell him that he’s not stupid or weak for being a victim of abuse they tell him that bill is a fucking loser! and he is. and the ppl who hurt me were fucking losers and so is every person who hurts people!! and having that moment when he was surrounded by their love, and he no longer felt shame and guilt from what happened in his past— that moment right there is what made the book something i will cherish. that’s a moment in the book where i out loud had a moment where i was like yes, this right here is the heart of what this is all about what gravity falls is at its core level.

like journal 1 taught me that i could embrace being weird and in the end i’ll turn out all right. the book of bill missing journal pages taught me that even tho ive had some shit happen to me and it’s changed who i am and how i see the world, i am more than a victim and if i allow myself to trust the ppl i love and let in the light, my past will not consume me and does not have to continue to be a part of my story. i can dance around in the woods with my niece and mock a triangle statue while wearing witch hats. i can grieve and move on and a lot of that is my internal work with myself like ford with himself, but its not done all alone, when you have love around you in your friends, in your chosen family whether they be by birth or not, that’s how you really learn to let it all go.

so in a way it’s really fucked up, the ship that is, but again i’m not mad at anyone who ships it. i’m sure you all have very different perspectives and thought and reasons that are totally valid, this is just how i feel from my perspective! i will continue to enjoy all the billford edits and fanart that comes across my page. i especially love anything to do with the breakup/divorce/ fiddleford, bill, ford love triangle angle. i love that shit

This is kind of getting wild actually. Like not to seem like I was 100% on board with the subscription service (I am not) but people are acting like watcher is run by the fucking monopoly man.

I had to do a production management course as part of my media degree, and people REALLY underestimate how much even the cheapest shows are to produce.

"Shane and Ryan could just sit in a room and people would watch." No. Not necessarily. Many people are saying they're glad watcher is getting shit because they never liked Too Many Spirits or Mystery Files or Beat Down. And even if they transitioned to that being their only content, with the most conservative of estimates, with things like set, research, guest scheduling, scripting, editing, mastering, uploading, you're looking at $5000/ep. That's the fucking reality of having a production company. It's not cheap. It is proportionally more expensive than big budget productions. And this is with them paying their staff correctly AS THEY FUCKING SHOULD. Laying people off or paying them less should not be words out of anyone's mouths rn.

"I want to watch ethically created videos that are well made and entertaining" and "I don't want to pay for my content" are mutually exclusive statements. I'm sorry but it is true.

Also, consider that their money makers at BuzzFeed were Worth it and Unsolved. Why would they assume that their audience wouldn't want more of that kind of content?? Especially now that people are bemoaning the fact that they'd have to pay for content that isn't like what they made at BuzzFeed.

Tldr: This should have been a very brief blip and learning experience, but it's turned into a big cluster fuck where people are feeling very personally hurt that the people they have become attached to on the internet are asking for money to give them more content. Was the subscription service a good idea? No. Are people being too dramatic by being like "I don't know if I can ever trust them again" and acting personally sickened because their entertainment costs money? Yes.

This sucked but some of you need to get over yourselves.

I feel like this is a good opportunity to give off some headcanons to describe the vibes I get from Fareligh and Y/n! There are also just my personal headcanons of Farleigh and his story in my AU! I made up these with the help of my internet soulmate @ethereal-athalia!

Here are some headcanons of my personal take of Farleigh's backstory in my AU and in general:

Is it weird if I can see Fareligh coming from New Orleans, Louisiana? Because I can absolutely see him giving off those vibes. He would fit PERFECTLY as a New Yorker, but I can't help but feel he would thrive in the Crescent City.

Farleigh really misses the States, and a big part of the reason he parties so much is to forget how homesick he is. I find it very odd that we are given this extremely intelligent character who would no doubt thrive in an Ivy League like Yale, Harvard, or Brown, but he's stuck in England. James definitely could have just paid for his education there, so why send him to England? Furthermore, why does James cover him up so much? Is it really just because he's family?

Remember when Felix told Oliver that Farleigh got kicked out of every school in England bc he "sucked the teachers off"? First off, ew. Secondly, sure, Farleigh is a bit of a hedonist, but all of his behavior just kind of screams to me that he's really and genuinely unhappy in England and wants to go back. That might be a reason why he was so reluctant for Felix to get close to Y/N since Chapter 1 of 'Fuck Everything.'

Furthermore, it really bothers me how nonchalant Felix is about telling Oliver that piece of information. Even if he knows that Farleigh wouldn't really care, that is still very private information about a young boy who was taken advantage of by teachers who were in a position that allowed them to abuse their power.

Also, for a film that exposes so much about its characters, we really don't know a lot about Farleigh Start and his story, specifically his family in the States.

The part where Farleigh's mom is terrible with money and constantly needs handouts from her brother, James, is very realistic - that part, I believe. But I feel like there is a lot missing with his dad.

Was his dad actually as brutish and abusive as Felix said to Oliver? Personally, I don't really see it. Even at first glance, the way Farleigh carries himself is leagues different from the rest of the Cattons. He's observant and takes in details. He uses all this information as a weapon for any opponent he goes up against.

In my opinion, I could absolutely see Farleigh's dad being a completely normal and decent person with a job as a librarian or English professor. This idea is mostly stemmed from when Fareligh made the 'thus' argument against Oliver's essay at the beginning of the movie, and this seems like something Farleigh knows as if being explained about it from a very early age.

The reason I think his father is ill-portrayed is because I feel like Farleigh's mother met him while she was in America and was intrigued by his unassuming self and married him. But then she got bored because she wasn't living the high and expensive life she was living in England with her family.

Eventually, she got bored and decided to use Farleigh as an excuse to get money from James. Farleigh's dad might have wanted custody of his son but was threatened by his ex-wife that he would never see his son again.

Farleigh is aware of his mother's toxic tendencies, but she's his mother and he loves her anyway. He know she's leeching off of him to get to her brother. But what are his other options? Let her fend for herself?

This is probably so far-fetched and a huge reach, but the Cattons are portrayed as people who love to feed off their own sense of entitlement over others by showing of 'generous' and 'charitable' they are to take of other people. When anything bad happens to them, they wear it like a trophy. Maybe that's what happened with Farleigh?

NOW! Onto Farleigh and Reader (also ft. Michael Gavey bc he's bb):

Being around Y/N is like being at home for the first time in forever (cue Frozen song) for Farleigh. When they start talking, Y/N is extremely skeptical of his intentions because she thinks that he's just trying to help out Felix. But nope! He just wants a genuine friend.

Y/N makes it clear to Farleigh from the beginning that if he wants to be friends with her, he needs to be friends with Michael. Michael Gavey and Y/N L/N are a package deal. You want one? You get the other.

Farleigh keeps his friendship with Reader a secret from Felix and is helped by Annabel (our girl got a taste of true kindness, sees Felix Catton for the leech he is, and is now part of the Y/N protection club)

With Y/N, he doesn't feel the need to party or drink until he gets alcohol poisoning to have a good time. He learns to have quiet nights doing homework or playing stupid board games with made-up rules.

Michael and Y/N introduce him to DnD, and he's the classic Bard player who rolls for charisma and ends up f*cking his party out of danger every time. Michael is a paladin, and Y/N is a monk, in case you were wondering.

Y/N sometimes uses Farleigh to model for some of her portraits. She learns to appreciate him because she and Michael do need to be reminded sometimes that it's okay to cut loose at times and that spreading their wings won't kill them.

Y/N is someone whom Farleigh can have actual mind-stimulating conversations with in a manner that's respectful but also wildly entertaining. They will discuss everything from rousing debates about politics and current events to philosophical queries about the omegaverse and mpreg.

Michael pretended he wasn't a fan until they caught him singing along to 'Hit the Road Jack' and they never let him forget it.

Also, Farleigh is a MAJOR Michael Gavey x Y/N fan. He wants them to get together SO BADLY! But he won't do this in a productive/uncomplicated way. Real talk though, Fareligh genuinely loves Y/N and her presence as a friend. He has all these expectations placed on him and fake friends who only want to be around him for his cousins. If Y/N ever does go to Saltburn for the summer (*foreshadowing*), Farleigh will do everything in his power to make sure she won't get sucked into his relatives' fake and shallow schemes.

Since you couldn’t answer my other questions, I’ll just ask something unrelated to the comic ><

I think if we're going off of every single canon ever, my very least favorite Sonic character is gonna be Drago Wolf. Plenty of Archie characters fall victim to being too boring or same-y, especially ones from A Certain Era, but Drago Wolf actually just fucking sucks. He was evil in a way that wasn't fun just to make the comic look more "mature." I do like seeing him get punched in the face, though, and thankfully that happened often enough under Flynn's pen.

Now, my least favorite GAME character? That's a tough call. I feel like I could easily pick any of the Zeti besides Zavok (Zavok at least has a neat design). They represent the height of an era where Sonic Team was either playing it safe or trying to appeal to Mario fans while under a lot of pressure and suffering from a tight budget.

Truly dogshit characters. Almost all entirely flat, one-note cardboard cutouts sharing the role of "tacky villain with a gimmick." Awful. But at the very least, they can be made better by better writers. Lost Hex, itself, can get dug into and made into more than it is right now. There may be a diamond yet in that rough.

Now I'm gonna start hating on the wisps because I think they also suck, sorry wisp fans (are there wisp fans). Not in full scathing detail will I get into how much I hate the wisps because I don't think there's much to say about them. I think that, writing-wise, there isn't much to go off of here. They're sentient temporary powers. Hardly characters by themselves. They are so boring and nothing much can actually be done with them. They are made to appeal to the absolute youngest sonic fans and this is done in the least engaging way possible.

Sorry again if anyone out there loves the Zeti or thinks Yacker is the greatest. I'm not sorry if you love Drago Wolf.

i’m just some stranger on the internet but i wanna send you all the love, strength and support for your recovery journey! i think it’s easy for people to accidentally devalue steps in recovery when they are repeated. but there is undeniable value! getting to one or even two weeks repeatedly, that’s still a whole week and more! a whole week where you undoubtedly went through difficult situations and were able to cope in other ways.

a relapse doesn’t set your recovery back to 0 (though some people and. society tends to make it seem that way). you are still learning and improving, and you keep the knowledge you’ve gained.

and also, in my humble stranger opinion, i don’t think there’s such a thing as “sucking at recovery”. you do your best, in whatever way your life allows, and you keep going. that’s worth so much. i hope you allow yourself some love and good things (and also self love!!) through your relapses , you deserve them unconditionally!

Uhhh warning for religious trauma!

Okay sooooo Donovan was raised in a very Christian household, like his family went to church very often and he had bible study things like that yk. He was actually fine with it back then and found the environment fun since he had a lot of friends at church and things like that :D

But then he got internet access and found more hobbies that weren't just church activities. Like horror games, reading, scary movies, pretty much anything horror. His parents thought he was getting into demonic stuff and took the lock on his door away, made him turn in his phone at a specific time, limited how often he could be on it, yk things like that. That's what started to drive him away from religion. He was just a kid trying to have fun, and now he had to do everything in secret and delete stuff off his phone every night so his parents wouldn't find things about his interests.

At some point Donovan realizes that he's gay, and tries to keep that a secret as well, because he felt like his parents would think he's being a sinner again. Long story short, they found out, and he was right. They did think that.

After spending his teenage years going through verbal abuse and being forced into conversion therapy a couple times, he is finally able to move out and doesn't really talk to his parents anymore.

He got a job to support himself (his parents wouldn't let him work as a teen so they could keep an eye on him), and Ethan helped him out until he was able to afford his own house, so yeah! He was doing great

Then one night on a walk, he met Castor, and I'm pretty sure you know how everything goes after that :3

Small stuff that wasn't mentioned:

Donovan used to hang out at the skate park and teach younger kids how to use a skateboard. He was going through a phase where he didn't really care about anything anymore at that point and wasn't the best influence, taught them a lot of cuss words along with the skating skills

Whenever someone a lot older than Donovan starts to yell at him he has to hold back from crying, cuz it reminds him of when his dad yelled at him as a kid

Donovan doesn't skateboard much anymore but he still has his old board in his garage somewhere.

The bandage on his wrist came from Fangs (it was mostly an accident)

Hey guys as you may have heard Ao3 has been down because of an attack against the website. I don’t know who’s behind it but I’ve been hearing somethings that Russia is behind all of this but I really don’t know.

What they don’t tell you is that these bills involves a lot of censorship and privacy issues.

This bill would give more power to politicians to decide what people could see and may also have age verification as well
