Concerning the NI bit, as an INTJ, this is true to a point. If I feel like I can actually share openly, I'll keep getting more relaxed at being myself, sharing myself, getting longer and deeper with my texts and convos until I see something that tells me more of who you really are, and if that is not in alignment with essential parts of who I am. Usually, that’s eventually where the disconnect comes into play and shifts how I interact. Seeing this and allowing it to click makes me not give the same energy, not as a dig at them in any bitterness but in knowing they won’t get it. It’s like being in one place in development and trying to talk to someone that is nowhere near that place, you can’t knock 'em for being uncaring about the matters that they haven’t danced with as you have. I guess, for me, always finding out people are who they say they are still is something that I cope with in a grieving sense, being that I believe we are so much more than what we think we are.
Anyway, yeah, I'm an open book of the flux and flow I philosophize my way through but only with people that are receptive, show enjoyment and engagement with, and or get what it is Im sharing. Otherwise, it feels like I'm being vulnerable in seeking a deeper, real connection and expression of authentically living and being, only to feel disrespected, disregarded, and undervalued—or, on a very soul level, rejected like they are rejecting the parts of themselves I’m trying to show them… but my answer is right there. I understand I’m just a mirror and what they reject of me, is just reflective of what they reject in themselves. It’s sad how many are unhealed to the extent of rejecting their possibility, especially in the aspect of healing, growing, and rebuilding themselves, of their power. If they’re rejecting parts of themselves, and not abiding by themselves, then how do I expect them to offer me a sliver of such a thing? Which I am learning to more quickly acclimate to, as an INTJ, despite my proclivities for holding out hope, since I just hate feeling like I'm wasting my time and energy. And it’s nothing against them for just not being there, but it’s still disheartening.
So, often I'll go back to concise and “normal” speech because I don't have the energy to share something that doesn't matter to them, that they’re not ready to do something with. What’s the point? I was just talking to my super spiritual sister in law who's some type of ExFx, I can't recall. But we do still get each other because she is proactive with her life/cycles and is always willing to face the truth and facts, however upsetting, however raw and brutally honest, to better work her way through it to heal. I relate with that. Which to me, is the BIGGEST part of knowing if a dynamic will work long term or not, for me. IDC how long you cycle in your loops, I’m the type that’s in control of my emotions enough to deal with any frustration of you not taking advice and it coming to fruition (ie. making a mistake) to keep helping you via hours upon hours, days upon days, forever, through your journey because I know THAT’S life. That is living. And I know we all have them, our own loops. I get that we’re all learning and relearning, dismantling and rebuilding, imperfect and trying. But, in this, we recognise the difference between saying and doing. She and I are doers. We love this death and rebirth cycle and chase that growth, changing for the better, no matter how hard the work ahead is. That is the main plus someone can have in my book. Courage, determination, and self-accountability for the things you say matter to you. A deeper consciousness that you do something with. Escaping the loop. But I thankfully am learning how to not people please and let go when I recognize something isn’t working for me and letting a relationship just be what it is. Sometimes, the best thing we can offer is the space and time for that person to decide on their own, who they are and what work matters to them in their life. I have to do the same, regardless, so sticking with that has been helpful. Which is to say, learning and relearning how to keep abiding by myself. Plus, doing something that makes me just feel further alone and misunderstood for the sake of others is people pleasing and the type of self-sabotaging/self-defeating behavior I've worked, and continue to work hard to not fall into. I have to do more of what makes me feel like I'm actually doing something of substance with my time and energy. I have to do what's right for me, and they, as well.
Acceptance is always the key though, and I’m finally really learning how to keep hold of that key in every situation, and in this, my peace, contentment, and embracing of all, as it is, while still accepting me and what is and isn't working for me.
MBTI Types & Texting Styles
Perceiving Functions
xNxP | High Ne: uses run-on sentences and parentheses (to maximize info-dumping and clarification via extraneous details, respectively)
xNxJ | High Ni: Short and simple sentences. It’s not intentionally “dry”, it’s just effective word choice.
xSxP | High Se: lowercase letters/free form sentences and p much any slang they wanna use bc its just texting and not deep enough for proper spelling and grammar
xSxJ | High Si: Breaking up responses to multiple topics into separate paragraphs.
It’s easier to keep track of what you’re talking about this way.

Judging Functions
xxFJ | High Fe: traditional/safe emojis and slang for effective communication ie. lol, brb, ☺️, 😅 periods in the middle are okay. Periods at the end are intimidating so it’s best to avoid those
xxFP | High Fi: Using creative combinations of emojis ( 🙏😩 | 👁️👄👁️ | 🥺👉👈) for the ultimate range of personal expression
xxTJ | High Te: Capital letters, and advanced punctuation; they exist for a reason. Big fan of the Oxford Comma.
xxTP | High Ti: Correct spelling and grammar is mostly a byproduct of autocorrect unless its absolutely necessary. it doesnt have to be perfext just understandable

𝐇𝐄 𝐊𝐍𝐄𝐋𝐓, 𝐈 𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐊𝐄! ❞ isagi yoichi x fem reader
plot: what happens when you and isagi are keeping such a big secret from each other?
The calm of the situation is such a welcome thing after so many days of pure stress. With Isagi not knowing if he would be able to come home from Germany for his birthday and you accidentally thinking a model had slept with him, the past few days have been a real rollercoaster. When he came back two days ago and you asked him about the model, you finally cleared up all your doubts, realizing that it was just a misunderstanding that Bachira had told you over the phone. You can't deny that you suffered for many hours because of this thing, but on the other hand, you and Isagi had been together for so many years that it seemed a bit ridiculous to you to think that he would throw away a ten year relationship just for a woman he met during his two weeks of training in Germany. You had been together since your first year of middle school, and now that he had finally won the World Cup, everything was much calmer. Having dinner at his family house had been a great choice, especially considering what you were going to say tonight in front of him and his parents
"Yocchan, can you pass me the salt?" his mother asks, and you turn to him, seeing him deep in thought. You and his mother look at each other for a few seconds, before you both giggle. "Yoichi!" you say stroking his face, and he seems to come to his senses "Huh?" he says confused, and you grab the salt, giving it to his mother "Your mother asked you a favor, but you were too busy thinking about who knows what. Can you at least keep soccer out of your head during this dinner?" you say teasing him gently, and he nods, going back to eating his plate still full "Oh, yeah. Sorry" he says, but seems to be back in his own world again, probably made up of kicking balls and the occasional you. You sigh, eating and hearing his parents talking about something related to the fact that they should buy a new sofa. You don't know what's wrong with him, whether he's lost in thought because he just got back from a two week absence or because something serious happened that bothers him. How can you tell your secret if he's like that?
You clear your throat, putting a hand on his arm, and he comes to life again "Everything okay?" he asks, and you nod "I am, but what about you? Why are you like this?" you whisper, not wanting to worry his parents, but he looks away hearing the words, concentrating on the plate of rice. You glare at him, tugging on his arm "Yoichi?" you say, and he huffs "Nothing much… just… anxiety. Stupid anxiety" he whispers, and you raise an eyebrow, genuinely curious "Anxiety? About what?"
Isagi looks you in the eyes for a few seconds, before getting up from the table. The attention focuses on him, and you look at him a little perplexed as he has the same face he had when as a kid he didn't know whether to run in the mud to get the ball "I have something important to tell you all. That's why I asked to have dinner together" he says, and his mother looks at him curiously "Did something happen, Yocchan?" she asks, and his father puts his fork down on his plate "Some promotion we don't know about?" he asks, and you chuckle at his comment. Isagi shakes his head, visibly flustered "No… not that. Kinda. It depends on your point of view… but it’s something I need to say that I’ve been holding back for a few weeks" he says, pursing his lips, and from his expression, you worry a little. You wipe your mouth with your handkerchief, standing up next to him "I also have something to say to everyone" you say, and Isagi turns a little annoyed, not at you but at the situation "Did something happen?" he asks, and you shake your head, smiling slightly at him "Kinda. But don’t worry, Yoichi" you say, seeing him still a bit perplexed
"Our darlings have something important to tell us! But who starts?" Isagi's mother asks, and you turn to him. You look at each other for a few seconds, before shrugging your shoulders "Shall we count to three?" he suggests, and you nod. "Good. One, two..." says the mother, the father looking at you curiously "I hope that's a good thing, since you're delaying dessert-" he says, but is interrupted by his wife "Three!"
"Do you want to marry me?" "I'm pregnant"
Yoichi looks at you with shining eyes, his hand with a velvet box that stops in mid air. His parents remain with their hands clasped almost in applause, changing their gaze between you.
You gasp when you realize what he just asked you, and your eyes water with emotion "Are you seriously asking me that?" you ask, almost sobbing, but he drops the little box on the table to hug you "Are you seriously pregnant, like with a baby?"
You both look at each other trembling, a bit like two teenagers who have just shared their first kiss again. Iyo looks at you excitedly, starting to sob as you automatically start too, and consequently also Isagi as he kisses your face, as his hands rest on your stomach as if he wanted to check on the presence of his son or daughter, you don't know it yet
"This stuff is definitely a good reason to delay the dessert"

Wait Babe is his NAME????? I saw the words pit babe and the racecar poster and thought oh they mean like a sexy dude who works on a pit crew and flirts with the drivers or something but this is his actual first name??
Nurse went ‘congratulations you have a son! What will you name him after?’ And his parents looked at each other and said ‘he’s gonna be hot isn’t he’
LMAO yeah his name is literally Babe — but hold on we gotta unpack some stuff here...
He goes by just Babe most of the time but his racing name that announcers say is Pit Babe. The association with a sexy racing dude is 100% intentional.
Pit Babe is also a pun on P'Babe. In Thai, P' is an honorific a younger person might use for an older sibling or upperclassman. Many people, including Babe's boyfriend, call him P'Babe.
Babe isn't an uncommon name in Thailand. (E.g. actor Babe Tanatat aka Tharn in The Sign).
Technically, "Babe" is actually his nickname, but Thai names / nicknames work differently than you might be used to. It's likely his dad still gave that nickname to him.
I'll go into more detail about Thai names under the cut
More about Thai names
Almost everyone has three names:
a nickname
a formal given name
a surname
Surnames are legally required to be distinct — if you meet two Thai people with the same surname they are almost certainly related. Surnames are rarely changed outside of marriage and adoption.
Formal given names are rarely used outside of formal documents and such — you might be friends with someone for years and never know their given name. It's a bit like how my middle name doesn't matter until I have to sign a check. Given names are not required to be distinct, but they often are anyway; 35% of Thai people have a unique formal given name.
Most Thai people go by a nickname. This is the name people call them at work, school, home, etc. Most people go by the same nickname their parents gave them when they were a kid, but some might choose a new nickname as they grow up. It's very common for someone to change their name if they feel like it — a fantastic cultural norm imho.
Thai nicknames often look a little odd to English speakers bc they're not that serious. Nicknames are often small or cute things, like animals, fruit, toys, etc. You might find it strange if you met someone named Pig, but in Thailand that's pretty normal (Moo is actually a very common nickname.)
Many Thai nicknames these days are also random English words (e.g. New, Ice, Bank, Milk, Golf) or brand names (e.g. Pepsi, Porsche, Benz, Fiat). So if you're watching Pit Babe and you're wondering why there are characters called North, Sonic, Winner, etc. — that's why. It's pretty normal.
Tl;Dr - Thai nicknames are a nonbinary/trans person's dream. Your name can be literally anything you want, most names are gender neutral, and you can change it at any time. And that's normal.

GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!
pairing: Brant x reader
tags: gender not specified, sfw, reader and Brant can't handle being away from each other, reader in denial, relationship not established, drabble asf, reader isn't Rover
note: the title is me rn because I picked up wuwa again and now I'm nibbling on the characters, him included. Except I'm not in Rinascita yet because I wanted to finish some companion quests I never started... So my knowledge is limited. Pardon me.
Oh how you loathe your own mind. Flashes of his image plague your thoughts. His smile, his laughter, the many shared memories you have with him. It has been some time since you've seen him. Though you hate to admit it, nearly every second spent away from Brant only makes you crave him more. Such scandalous fantasies for the one you claimed to be a simple acquaintance you've mingled with more than you'd like to admit.
When he spots you with that dopey grin on his face, your face contorts into a sort of annoyance. Your fate with him sealed, but you still don't want to admit it. Still, you don't stop him when his arms are quick to wrap around you, and his face is centimeters away from yours, your noses intimately brushing up against each other. Warmth tickles your ears as honey dipped whispers of his longing dance through your ears. Your face burns and you frantically pull him closer so that your vulnerable expression is hidden in his shoulder.
A tantalizing— teasing laugh echoes, and now you're too embarrassed to let him go. Brant coos at you, fingers pressed and nudging at your hips that makes you wiggle just a bit closer to him. How he absolutely delights in this. Finally you look at him, you're flustered expression now visible to him. That feeling only gets worse with Brant himself at your fingertips. There's a million things in your mind right now, and it's all related to him.

#MIRAAAAAAAA #Mira #Siffrin #augh. She's so #she's so important in so many ways #hey op do you have any thoughts on how Mirabelle's first response to Sif knowing what her papers are is GRABBING HER SWORD #because that stunned me the first time it happened #and something about it pings as related to me here but I'm not quite sure what yet (via @cellar-whales)
YES ACTUALLY i was thinking about this scene too while i was writing!! just didn't have a great place to bring it up. but. i think it's an extension of her instinctual reactions (negative, aggressive, defensive) versus her needing to consciously choose to be trusting and interpret people's actions as friendly. in combination with her feelings about being teased, it was making me wonder if she's been directly bullied in the past (and how badly?), or if she's just always on edge about that being what's happening because she has trouble telling sometimes, and that's not her natural way of connecting with people.
she's gotten more comfortable with it lately! she even teases back and plays up the drama—i think a lot of her instances of being gently patronizing (ex. "Siffrin, you're so talented! You know so many things! Congrats, Siffrin!" during the tutorial, "It feels like we tamed a wild animal, doesn't it?" at the dictionary) aren't so totally sincere and more her way of getting in on the joke, since everyone else is comfortable with teasing each other in similar ways. she's trying to be playful—Siffrin realizes this in repeat tutorials, actually!

but when it's aimed at her, it's...uncomfortable. Don't tease me, Siffrin. she KNOWS (reassures herself, again and again) that this is friendly behavior, it's affectionate, it's not mean or hurtful (but what if it is)
so Siffrin is poking at these papers that she's really, existentially, long-term stressed about, on a day where she is really, short-term existentially stressed about possibly not having a future to worry about at all, and how the FUCK did he know what these papers are, actually, did they invade her privacy and snoop in her things somehow??? (yes, in fact, sorry about that Mira) how did they know? is he going to mock her for this?????
and then. Siffrin says something that implies that they don't REALLY know as much as she thought they did, so maybe he just caught sight of them while she was lost in thought looking at them here and made some assumptions, and is really sincerely offering to help her out because he cares about her, and mayyyyybe it WOULD be nice to get someone else's opinion since she's so lost here, and Siffrin is so worldly and experienced so they MUST know more than she does about this, right? (well. about that.)
my friend pointed out that she got really anxious in the tutorial situation about fighting Sadnesses, but didn't hesitate to pull her sword on a human being who's also her friend. he suggested that in the Sadness situation, the confrontation hadn't actually started yet and she was anxious in anticipation of it, while in the papers situation she felt like she was already IN the "combat" part of the interaction. i think it's also that...she probably hasn't had a lifetime of constantly fighting Sadnesses, which as far as I recall did exist pre-King, but not nearly as pervasively. but she has likely had a lifetime of specifically human conflicts and anxieties, and all the knee-jerk defensiveness and fear that come with that.
so maybe her recent months of constantly being in survival mode in a very physical, combat-oriented sense, plus her instinctual "THIS PERSON IS BEING MEAN TO ME AND I NEED TO PROTECT MYSELF FROM THAT" reaction, combine to having a combative defense response to interpersonal conflict. and since she's SO stressed, all that happens before she has a chance to talk herself down. end result.....drawing a weapon on a friend! oops!
i really love how intensely Mirabelle reacts to act 5 Siffrin botched friendquest.
Isabeau is mostly operating out of concern and, eventually, hurt. he already knows something’s up before Siffrin gets to him. he knows something truly awful must be wrong for Siffrin to be lashing out like they are, and as soon as he can’t handle the situation anymore, he leaves and asks (with strained cheer) for time apart to cool off.
most of Bonnie’s anger comes from being upset and afraid that Siffrin would willingly put themself in danger for no reason, when that’s exactly why they’ve been so unsettled since the eye incident. they hate that Siffrin values their own life so little, they hate that they’re the cause of any pain or loss for him, and here he is, putting himself in that situation AGAIN. on purpose. it’s loud and explosive, but it’s familiar, too, being “hated” by Bonnie for this reason.
Odile pushes, and keeps pushing, until her concern overwhelms Siffrin and they strike where they know she’s most vulnerable. she gets physical, just for a moment, grabbing his collar before controlling herself and letting go. her fury shuts down into cold detachment, and she walks away.
but Mirabelle—dear, sweet, gentle, loving Mirabelle, “the most wonderful being on earth,” with her secret “ruthless side” that largely involves lightly badmouthing people behind their backs and then apologizing—slaps them. immediately.
and then COMPLETELY RENOUNCES THEIR FRIENDSHIP.
not just “we’re not friends anymore,” but “we were never friends in the first place.”
that’s!!! pretty extreme!!!!
of course, she ALSO starts by asking what’s wrong. something must have happened for him to act like this. but as soon as Siffrin brushes her off, she jumps past that line of questioning and dives headfirst into re-evaluating everything she thought she knew about them as a a person.
if he could say something like that to her and not see anything wrong with it, then she was wrong to treat him as a friend, wrong to read camaraderie into his teasing, wrong to think they must care about them all under their aloof demeanor.
that’s how Mirabelle phrases it—“I was wrong about you”—but i think that there’s a hidden layer of I was right about you, too.
she talks about the way they tease her like she had to convince herself that he was doing it in a friendly way. she says they talk like they “know better than her” like that’s a thought she’s had for a LONG time.
“Always soooo mysterious, Siffrin, always talking as if you're better than me! As if you know me!!! But you don't, Siffrin!!! You're just as lost and useless as I am!!! So stop!!! Talking!!! As if you know me!!!!!!”
none of this comes across as a new, sudden way to view Siffrin for her. it doesn’t shock or confuse her. it makes her angry, defensive, almost like she was waiting for something like this to happen at some point. the feeling of resentment, frustration, jealousy, being patronized and condescended to—this is something she’s been actively pushing down and rejecting this entire time, but they’ve given her ample reason for it all to boil to the surface. violently.
Mirabelle’s kindness is not inherent or easy. it’s a choice she’s making. she treats Siffrin warmly because she gives him the benefit of the doubt—refusing to act based on anxiety-fueled, cynical speculation, and reassuring herself that his actions are driven by care and friendship even if she can’t quite see it.
“I was wrong about you” doesn’t mean she always and without question believed them to be a fundamentally kind, caring person from the beginning—it’s that her first, colder instincts were right, and she was wrong to convince herself otherwise.
never mind that she asked what was wrong at first. she barely gives them time to speak in their own defense, to explain what they really meant by what they said. all of her suppressed doubts and frustrations are getting aired out now, now that all the trust she’d so deliberately placed in him has been betrayed. her pain feels bigger than this singular moment, so when she hurts him back, she makes sure it extends back through the entirety of their relationship for him, too.
“You're awful. You're not my friend, not my ally, not anything. You never were.”
like the others, she goes back to the clocktower and tells Siffrin not to come back until later. but there’s a finality to the way she ends this confrontation that isn’t quite there with the others. Isabeau and Odile reach their breaking point and remove themselves from the situation, asking for space to cool off but still somewhat leaving the door open for Siffrin to tell them what’s really going on at some point. Mirabelle is the only one who tries to fully cut ties—after everything else she says, her “I don’t want to see you until tonight” reads to me somewhat as “I don’t want to see you anymore unless I have to.”
I can’t wait to never see you again.
even back at the clocktower, Mirabelle doesn’t really defend Siffrin’s place in the party when Odile suggests leaving them behind out of concern for their trustworthiness on the most important day of the journey. Isabeau and Bonnie protest out of sentimentality and faith in Siffrin’s abilities and connection to them, and Mirabelle agrees, but…
“I agree, but... B-But would he even agree to come with us, still? Maybe they won't even come back tonight...”
she doesn’t say much outside of that. maybe the stutter and hesitation here are signs of regret about how things happened, but she lacks Isabeau and Bonnie’s confidence that Siffrin even wants to come back to them in the first place. she doesn’t trust that their bond was real anymore. maybe it never was in the first place, or maybe she broke whatever was there herself.
and she’s still mad when they finally catch up to Siffrin at the King! and she makes sure Siffrin knows that—after saving them, assuring him that he no longer needs to fight, that they’re all there for him. she still cares, of course she still cares—she’s still hurt, too, but they can figure that part out once there’s less world-ending stuff going on.
she’s the first to say that they all reserve the right to still be angry at Siffrin later—and that they’ve already forgiven him.
she’s also the first to say we want to stay with you, too. it’s not just you.

she was wrong! she thought they didn’t care but they care so much, it’s overwhelming, it’s world-ending.
i think she’s gonna be wallowing in guilt post-canon the moment she remembers what she said and did TO SIFFRIN and not just what Siffrin said to her. especially now that she knows Siffrin’s exact hangups, and especially especially if she figures out what Siffrin was trying to say.
they put themself through hell out of loneliness and fear that none of the others cared about him the way he cared about them, he was going insane from repetition and exhaustion and hunger and trying to keep them all safe and together, and all they did in the midst of all that was say something kind of mean to her one time (that turned out to not even be MEANT to be mean it was supposed to be HELPFUL they just SAID IT ALL WRONG) and she SLAPPED THEM? and told him that they WEREN’T FRIENDS AT ALL??? how could she!!! she should have known better!! what they said hurt a lot but still!!!
so when they eventually manage to try to talk about it, they end up almost in, like, a guilt competition.
Mirabelle apologizing for how she reacted, that she shouldn’t have yelled or hit him, that she doesn’t want to be the kind of person who acts that way out of anger and she’s sorry that she made Siffrin expect that reaction from her, she should have known better and believed in him more and they only messed up like that because they were losing their mind in a time loop but what’s HER excuse—
and Siffrin going nononono stop I deserved it—(HUH DON’T SAY THAT NO YOU DIDN’T)—and that he should never have said such awful things to her, ever, and she was under so much pressure already with the weight of the country and everyone’s lives and futures and her religion and their whole party counting on her to do this impossible task because she’s the only one who can, all this unbearable expectation and hope crushing her, and they KNEW that but they thought they could skip to the ending as though her feelings didn’t matter at all, like helping her wasn’t as important as saving a little time—
until they’re just. in tears together, apologizing for all the horrible things they did in between complimenting each other’s strength and kindness and resilience and how much they admire each other and saying that no, everything you did was completely understandable, actually, the only one who sucks here is me. which neither of them will accept coming from the other!!
they’re so similar, in ways they couldn’t really understand, before.
warm, affectionate, perfect Mirabelle, the resolute hero, a beacon of compassion and hope for all those around her, who wears her heart on her sleeve, her fear making her courage shine all the brighter—nothing like the insignificant, forgettable Siffrin, too terrified to be known, too fragile to touch, too selfish and disgusting to bear letting go.
cool, mysterious, unflappable Siffrin, the worldly traveler, as charming and silly as they are confident and skilled, who brushed off losing an eye like it was nothing, accepting the risks of this journey with barely more than a shrug—nothing like the anxious, stagnant, underserving Mirabelle, a fraud and a nobody crumbling under the weight of a mission too important to be entrusted to someone like her, doubting herself, doubting her friends, doubting her mentor, doubting her faith, too weak and brittle to bend and change the way the world needs her to without breaking.
not worth bothering others with their problems. they should be able to handle this alone. stay positive, stay calm. breathe in, and out.
they’ll struggle with it, still—the hiding, the minimizing—but now, they understand each other a little better. they can hold each other accountable for what they leave unsaid.
it’ll get easier, eventually. they have plenty of time.

#cellar-whales#i tried to @ you but it didn't work for whatever reason. rip#or maybe it did?#replies#mypost#isat#isat spoilers#isat meta#mirasif qpr#thanks for asking this i was very happy for the opportunity to think about it harder bc i kinda forgot after i hit post#that it was something i could touch on

tos!looey refusing to get his injuries healed & glisten being the one to drag him to sprout & cosmo is so funny to me-
especially cause in game its implied through one of sprout and glisten’s elevator dialogues that glisten tends to hide injuries (the one about the crack on his mirror). is he the world’s biggest hypocrite or did this trait just not translate to his tos version?
OH ABSOLUTELY HE DOES THAT. even before that dialogue came out i headcanoned that glisten hides his injuries because it. Makes sense yk. he would be the same way in tos but the only difference is that looey is there to either tend to him themself or drag glisten to sprout and cosmo to get patched up, i dont think hed put up the same fight but hed be. Not happy. at all.
theres really no point in hiding stuff like that from looey, of course that doesn't stop glisten but they find about about most everything eventually since they spend so much time together GVXKFNFK part of why glisten is a Little Mentally Healthier in this au is because he knows that looey knows about all of his imperfections, but loves him to death anyways. Again that doesnt stop him from trying to insist that hes perfect in front of looey, but looey has seen him at his lowest so many times that he doesnt try As Hard when its just the two of them. He lets himself relax and let go of the whole perfection thing sometimes, even, rarely,,,, theyre able to relate to each other a lot in how they worry of other peoples perception of them.
got a little off topic there, but yeah. Glisten would def hide his injuries but looey will always find out eventually and make him take care of it, looey doesnt really hide them he more just gets hurt and then doesnt give a fuck and then glisten has to chase him the fuck around in circles until he can finally tackle them to the ground and get his wound patched up.

Just get it on Mulder!
My head canon, wanting someone to point it out to Mulder AND Scully so badly!
My opinion about MSR: sometimes they are like annoying little kids who choose to go with the flow —where things take them. It was pretty clear how they felt about each other by the end of season 6. But still, on screen, it felt like they haven't acknowledged that in action. It was just yearning and lots of flirtations which of course, I enjoy very much.
A short fluff (3 minute read). Related to the Goldberg variation S7E6.
Sitting in airport lounge, 0230, Chicago
Scully looked almost curled up on the uncomfortable airport lounge chair. Her arms were crossed, her head tilted, resting on Mulder's shoulder. Mulder's eyes were shut, his head nodding slightly with each breath as he drifted deeper into sleep—until he jerked himself awake.
He glanced over to check on Scully. She was still asleep, her head firmly resting on his shoulder.
Mulder’s gaze met that of an elderly man seated across the lounge.
They exchanged a knowing smile.
“How many years have you two been together?” the old man asked.
“Huh?”
“Oh... almost seven,” Mulder replied.
“What are you guys waiting for?” the old man asked.
Mulder looked puzzled.
“I’ve seen the way you look at each other,” the old man said with a gentle smile.
“I don’t—(gaze at....)” Mulder started, his eyes drifting toward Scully. He mouthed the rest of the words silently, still looking confused. Then he looked back at the old man.
“Life is short, young man. Just take the shot.”
“If you’re wondering whether she feels the same way about you—it’s obvious to me,” the old man added.
Mulder pondered this and gave the old man a soft smile.
“It’s really not that complicated, son. Follow your heart,” said the old man.
“Where are you heading?” Mulder asked, catching a glimpse of the wedding ring on the man’s finger.
“To D.C., to commemorate our wedding anniversary. I proposed to her at the Bishop’s Garden,” the old man said with a distant look.
“I’ve done this every year since her passing,” he added quietly.
“I’m sorry to hear that, sir,” Mulder said.
“Don’t be silly, son. Your partner reminds me of my late wife—feisty, but full of love. She’s a beautiful young woman.”
“I’ll let her know when she wakes up,” Mulder replied with a smile, looking down at Scully.
“Be brave,” the old man said gently.
Mulder acknowledged him with a polite smile.
The old man picked up his book and resumed reading.
Mulder crossed his arms and shut his eyes.
Scully, still lying still, peeked briefly. She saw only the book the old man was holding, not his face. She readjusted herself on Mulder’s shoulder and continued her nap.

watching eddie and bosko scenes is so hilarious because there's this clear intent for them to have an immediate connection and what could be the start of a romantic relationship if there wasn't a complete lack of chemistry like that's a gay man and a lesbian
#mine#911#911 abc#eddie diaz#lena bosko#i'm rewatching s3 rn#they set lena up to be immediate impressive to eddie#and vice versa with lena coming around to eddie#and like they relate to each other on so many thing#(she also is a lot like buck 🤫)#but they just are just so stiff with each other it's so funny#[redacted] is really giving us nothing 😂😂

I think what gets me is the following set of things:
most defenses I've seen of Bells Hells boil down to "I find them personally relatable" which means a handful of things. Firstly, I don't and I've covered this - being indecisive and being conflict avoidant are attributes I personally do not like in others, strive not to be myself, and therefore don't find relatable so like, this argument does not serve as a means to make me like them. It also is kind of...self-perpetuating isn't the right word. Self-referential? One of the things about conflict avoidance is that it means you do not do the work to consider other perspectives because you just say "oh ok never mind I'll back down" and whoever is loudest wins, rather than coming to a deeper understanding and a compromise. Like, Molly and Beau have a very antagonistic relationship, and it's a fascinating one to me and perhaps the biggest thing that makes me wish I could see into the parallel universe in which Molly lives and they flesh that out more, and this is in part because they are starting to see a little more eye to eye right before he dies after spending a lot of time sharing small aspects of themselves and considering each other's perspectives! If you never bother to uncover why someone's behaving the way they are and dig into it and get messy, you do not expand your own understanding of people! [This is what could have been more interesting about Imogen, incidentally - the ability to read minds means she can skip the work and just get the information...and the work is a big part of the process, and having to deal with confrontation could have been an incredible arc for her]. And finally, I think that if your only way to enjoy characters is through personal relatability, that's a problem. I certainly like characters I find relatable, but like...Yasha isn't terribly relatable to me other than "broad exploration of grief" reasons and I still love her for that! You don't have to like every character - obviously I don't - but I don't think "I don't personally connect with this character" is a good way to approach fiction, which, again, should be a means of teaching you to find connection through new and different means.
I remember that the Mighty Nein and Vox Machina were compared at some point during C2, and how the Mighty Nein, despite being very cagey and antagonistic towards each other early on, are incredibly welcoming to many of their allies and guest characters to the point of inviting them to join (most notably Essek, but they also essentially adopt Kiri for a time); and Vox Machina are much more exclusive. I think that's true but I do think Vox Machina, while being a more closed group, still have very strong alliances with Allura, Kima, Gilmore, Zahra, and Kash throughout the story, and rely on them heavily - they're more reserved and standoffish, but still friendly and extremely good at, for lack of a less business-y term, networking. And Bells Hells are kind of...bad at both of these. Their allies are mostly just Assigned By Keyleth/the Accord or (earlier) Eshteross or pre-existing blood ties or other connections (of which Keyleth is the main one); they betray a good deal of the people who help them through the story and while this isn't the fault of Bells Hells, what alliances they actually do form via the solstice split don't end up mattering that much to the story...whereas Vox Machina's and the Mighty Nein's actually continue to matter deeply within Campaign 3.
Just in terms of placement, I think coming after Campaign 2, of which a core theme that emerged is seeing things from the other perspective (this is not remotely subtle, one of the episodes shortly after the Nein turn the beacon over to the Bright Queen is straight up named "Perspective"); after EXU Prime, which does have some interesting party conflict and the reveal of a civilization with a very different attitude than any of the characters are used to; and of course Calamity and Downfall, which give us a new view into what had previously been static lore; the, and I keep using this phrase because it is the best description, utter lack of curiosity Bells Hells has towards that which is outside at most their group (and there's not much curiosity towards each other; What the Fuck Is Up With That hilariously is just more of the papering over by turning an organic process into an artifical one) stands out. They end the campaign perhaps even more solipsistic than they began, and it's just like. could you have picked ONE expansive option. literally anywhere.
I haven't started this weekend's Nein Again episode but I am just thinking about how both the Mighty Nein and Vox Machina had some fascinating relatively long-term disagreements or conflicts and even some blow-ups that ultimately provided so much space for character development. The scene with Caleb telling Fjord that some degree of risk is good only hits the way it does because Fjord had previously held him at swordpoint and Molly and Beau had laid into Nott (and that conversation in turn is how we found out about Nott's feelings about Caleb as someone to protect). Imagine if Scanlan yelled at Vox Machina like that and you didn't get Percy yelling back at him to actually treat his daughter like a person rather than some idealized concept he had to be perfect for! Like, Bells Hells' refusal to ever let arguments actually happen feels like...well, like you're playing an RPG and keep picking the most dead end option for the conversation every single time, and I still wish they like...didn't plaster over every negative feeling almost immediately because it's genuinely wild how like...every single little thing that could have transformed this campaign into something better didn't happen.
#cr tag#that's not even getting to how when i think back to like 99% of the fandom discourse during the campaign#it's people refusing to consider other perspectives. like i'm thinking about this re the line taliesin said about ashton and interiority#like wow have you considered that the alleged party of NPCs...treats most NPCs as NPCs in game

I've already talked about World of Light overworlds plenty in the past so I wanna focus on some of the more overlooked ones.
First I wanna start with the various castle-themed imagery throughout the series because there's a LOT (which makes it lowkey surprising how many asks I got about it when Home Run Contest was revealed for Ultimate)
In order is Brawl Classic Mode, Wii U's Home Run Contest, 3DS's Classic Mode, Wii U's Classic Mode, Ultimate's results screen, and Ultimate's HRC

What's interesting is that each iteration is just slightly different than the last, yet they all share recurring motifs, such as the white bricks and the red-and-gold Smash logo banners.
I don't think it's the same one, though: Ultimate's Battlefield (and others' to a lesser extent) shows that there's just a bunch of these scattered across the world.
Also that mirror thing used for the All Star mode intrigues me.
The All-Star Rest Area for Brawl is gorgeous too.

Along the lines of 2D art, PLEASE look at Smash 3DS's Classic Mode background, which is only ever seen zoomed in so you don't get the chance to see the full thing ever.
Snowy trees/coral structures, desert ruins/cave, foresty area with a waterfall that may or may not be floating and also has glowy crystal things, some giant spire surrounded by snow, massive cliff with what looks like some ruins and/or an arena, and what looks to be at least one or even two distant-yet-not-so-distant galaxies
Also, creatures! Of sorts. One is ambiguously a fossil (could be rib bones, could just be some type of stone), but there are others in the form of glowing eyes. Also fish!
And there's even hidden Smash logos throughout the world!
Also Smash 4 related is the Smash Tour maps, which have some gorgeous artwork that's hard to see under the pathways in game.
Stage 1 is fairly down to earth with limited features, taking place on a fairly small plateau surrounded by water and other land features
Stage 2 is an entire island with multiple biomes, like a beachy area, mountains, cliffs, and even a town. We also see more castle-like structures!
Stage 3 is a floating island of comparable size with a much more sci-fi motif. Multiple collections of buildings all styled differently, mechanical towers of some sort, a futuristic castle or arena with a nearby cuboid structure attached to the side.
What I find really fun is that the Smash logo just starts popping up everywhere after a certain point. Side of a castle? Giant Smash logo. Hole in a pile of wood? Smash logo. Look up at the moon? Smash logo.
I mostly say that with adoration, because those little details bring everything together even when they're vastly different with their motifs otherwise.
But also it was only a matter of time before a pair of gods would start plastering their insignia on everything. I mean look at the Subspace Army.
Anyways I love the tiny world-building details like this so much hhh
I wanna gush about Super Smash Bros. background elements SO bad but like not even in a theory building way gggrrffh

GhostGaz Week - 2nd chances // road trip
This one is more of a dialogue based character study than anything else, I think. I felt unhinged writing it even though very little happens.
@ghostgazweek
CW: use of cigarettes, littering, discussions of gender and sexuality, past dating experiences, brief reference to simon riley's terrible awful service experiences
Gaz doesn’t hate land transport, but he’d much rather be on a helicopter than in this silent car with Ghost right now. He’s viciously bored. If it was Price, he’d know how to carry a conversation. But fresh off his third milk run with Ghost, he’s floundering. He checks the clock and groans. There’s another hour before they hit the tarmac and head home.
Desperation for something to talk about makes him blurt, “You ever been in love?”
Ghost doesn’t give much indication that he’s heard, eyes never leaving the road, hand relaxed on the top of the steering wheel. Sometimes Gaz wishes he was a photographer. The Ghost in the driver’s seat would make a great campaign poster. He’s bulky with all his gear. Solid. The picture of a man. This is the guy protecting the innocent by risking himself. A skull faced badass.
“Take the wheel,” Ghost says.
Used to the routine by now, Gaz leans over the arm rest to hold the car steady while Ghost pulls pulls a cigarette from a pack and lights it. But where he usually only lifts his balaclava over the bridge of his nose, he reaches up to take the whole thing off. It’s the work of a moment for him to light the cigarette and open the window. Gaz finds himself looking between the empty road and Ghost’s scarred jaw and the shape of his nose.
“Thanks.”
“Yeah,” Gaz says, settling back into his seat. He tries not to stare, but it’s hard. Without the mask, Ghost is still the picture of a man. Just... different.
“Why’d you ask?”
“Huh?”
Ghost tilts his head to make brief eye contact, then looks back at the road. “Why’d you ask if I’ve ever been in love?”
Oh. “Just… curious, I guess,” Gaz flounders. “I feel like we should know each other better by now.”
The silence is near painful as Ghost takes a drag from his cigarette, and then another. Gaz can’t decide what’s worse - if he’s being ignored or if Ghost is actively offended. He’s about to apologize when he gets an answer.
“Been in love a few times. Puppy love 'fore I joined up, told myself I woulda proposed to ‘er if things were different, but probably not. Was all over the place.” He takes another drag, exhales as he talks. “Had a crush on another private in basic, gave it a go when we graduated. Dated in secret for about a year before I broke things off. Hurt a bit but tha’s a part of it all, yeah?”
“Why’d you break up?”
“Didn’t like being his secret,” Ghost says around another puff of smoke. “He didn’t like my daddy issues.”
Gaz feels his eyebrows crawl up beneath is cap. “Didn’t know you liked men.”
That makes Ghost - Simon? - laugh. “Yeah, well, now we know each other better, I guess.”
Gaz's ears burn a bit. Into the silence, he offers, “Me too. I mean… I’m… not strictly heterosexual…?”
“You askin’ me?” the man snorts a laugh. “’ve seen your beauty serums, Gaz. I know you ain’t straight. Best egg in the carton.”
Gaz scrunches his nose, he can't help it. “What does that even mean?”
Ghost grins that grin. The one that makes Price shoot his whiskey. “You ever have dreams where you’re a girl?”
“What?” Gaz blanches. Five years ago, he’d have answered, doesn’t everybody? But he’s learned his lesson since then. “No.”
Ghost’s grin doesn’t falter. “I do.”
“Bullshit,” Gaz says, because what? What even is this conversation?
“Third love of my life made me go to therapy,” Ghost continues, like he didn’t just rock Gaz’s world on its axis. “Learned a lot. Admittedly before the Ghost thing. Broke up because the therapy was working. And then all the Ghost shit happened.”
“Of course.” What else is there to say?
“Flirted with someone a couple times in the last six months, but either I’ve been too subtle or they’re not interested.”
Gaz gropes around for an appropriate response because I've only ever seen you stare silently at people feels a bit rude. “Maybe it’s the mask? You’re hard to read.”
“Maybe so,” is the answer he gets. “What about you? Ever been in love, Garrick?”
The question shouldn’t startle him, but it does. He stumbles over his answer. “I dunno. Maybe. Had crushes when I was kid. Dated in sixth form, but I don’t know if that counts.”
“Why not?”
“Well, I was a kid, yeah? Everything feels intense when you’re young,” Gaz shrugs. “Doesn’t mean it’s love.”
Ghost is quiet for a moment, nodding to himself. Finally he says, “M’ therapist says that just because it’s a kid that feels it don't make the feelings less valid. If anything, feelings are more intense for kids. Puppy love is still love.”
The realization that Ghost is a romantic snaps into place. He sits with that for a beat before saying, “Well, she cheated on me with my mate, so that ended. Took a long time for me to get over that one.”
“That’s shite,” Ghost mumbles. “You datin’ now?”
“Not much time for a civilian relationship,” Gaz admits with a shrug. “And I’m not… out on base. I’m not not, just… I don’t really care to have people in my business.”
“Fair,” Ghost answers. He flicks his cigarette out the window. “Well, if you ever do think about dating on base, keep me in mind.”
Gaz might pull something in his neck, he snaps to look at Ghost so fast. “Huh?”
Ghost just laughs.
#GhostGazWeek#dragonnarrativewrites fanfiction#gaz appreciation nation#manic pixie dream ghost#ghostgaz#none of these stories this week have been linked to each other#i just headcannon simon and kyle as queer in so many ways#and simon has the tism rizz that means intentional flirting is very difficult for him#he's been flirting with kyle since they met#except the “flirting” is standing in the same room no talking no eye contact just vibes#“hold the wheel while i grab a smoke” is practically a proposition to him#he took off his mask because in his head they're already in a polycule with price and roach#obviously being in a polycule and “dating” are not the same in his head but they're related#price does not know about this polycule yet but he will#roach was the one who defined the terms queerplatonic and polycule to simon#obviously simon would like for things to be less platonic

2 things ive noticed about sunday and robin bc i can no longer subject my poor best friend to paragraphs on paragraphs and I want this out of me
1. Designs
Sunday features dull, muted colors and has a lot of sharp edges. He's also got darker colors in general. Robin is so much brighter, bouncier, and has a lot of rounded/organic shapes in her design.

2. Sunday constantly in the shadows, Robin always in the spotlight
Goes hand in hand with their designs tbh, which I find cool

He's just always in the back!!!!!! Pretty much speaks for itself...
I'm so curious to know their deal in just a few days, because this has been killing me this week, on top of their baby trailer 😭😭
#aaagshwhwhwhehdd#robin is his light and i think thats whats being shown visually#but i have so many other thoughts most r probably far fetched#i am so scared for 2.2#another thing im brainrotting over that ill hide in the tags is sunday and aventurine parallels / foils!#they make me sick!!!!#i think sunday will Not be coming out of this okay solely because of the role aventurine and sunday play in relation to each other#they have so many similarities#but so many opposing traits#ive collected SO MUCH of these my list is ever growing#i find it so fascinating#just like how i find sunday and robin to be designed like opposites is fascinating#im sooo sick#hsr#minnie post#sunday hsr#robin hsr

Okay I just need to say that I knew I'd like this Tailstube as soon as I saw the thumbnail (after all, I am a Sonadails enjoyer, and Tails is literally in the middle of them in the thumbnail)

But I think probably something that stood out the most to me when I watched it was just
The hints that Shadow and Tails have a relationship outside of Sonic??
The first thing that tipped me off to this was that not only did Tails convince Shadow to join in on his show, he also convinced him to stick around to its natural end?? You know, Shadow. The guy you can't force to do anything and frequently will just dip if he's bored or doesn't want to be there. But even while Sonic was annoying him and he made it clear he wanted the "interview" over with, he still never made a move to chaos control out of there because of any of this.
And the second thing that tipped me off was this:

When Shadow is both confused and annoyed at Sonic, he chooses to complain to Tails about Sonic. And so Tails steps in to try to "explain" what Sonic meant by what he said (i.e he told Shadow something much nicer in the interest of getting them to be on better terms). The fact that he looks to Tails to complain to about Tails' own best friend and possibly even to explain that which he does not understand in a social context tells me just how highly he regards Tails. And since both Shadow and Sonic are being childish here, it's amusing to see Tails regarded as something closer to a trusted figure with more power here.
From an objective analysis standpoint, of course this means they have their own friendship. And this is a prospect I enjoy (The idea that Tails and Shadow are good friends)! It actually means a lot to me that Tails could form a frienship or bond with Shadow outside of the context of Sonic (in terms of who initiates it and for what reason it's initiated).
But, my friends, from a biased standpoint, I'm shipping trash. And to me this Tailstube was a fun show for Sonadails fans. Honestly, Tails staging this episode to get Sonic and Shadow to talk and "bury the hatchet", as well as how he acts during the show, read a lot to me personally like a guy trying to get his two boyfriends (who happen to be rivals) to get on better terms, if not just tolerate each other. I quite like the idea of Tails dating both of these idiots and just trying to get them to play nice when they're all together (although frankly I think the ideal scenario for Tails in my biased reading is that Sonic and Shadow get together as well).
This is also not to mention the dynamics showcased here! Sonic and Tails as best friends, with Sonic assuming that he and Tails were gonna talk shit about Shadow behind his back, and Tails trying to get him to play nicer. Shadow and Tails as friends, with Tails trying to convince him why he and Sonic are in the perfect position to become friends and helping him out socially, and with Shadow choosing to do something he doesn't want to because of Tails, as well as looking to Tails to complain to when Sonic is annoying him or when he doesn't understand something. And then there's Sonic and Shadow. In short, their relationship in this episode reminded me a lot of the dynamic I plotted out for that Sonadow post I wrote up where the two just beat the crap out of each other. In slightly longer terms, I find interesting how Mr. Flynn maintained Sonic and Shadow's dynamic during SA2 (with Sonic bothering Shadow and trying to fight him, while Shadow is just annoyed that Sonic won't leave him alone) while also showing the audience that they are rivals. And in longer terms...Sonic was clearly seeking a fight during this episode. And the facial expression, the mocking, his tone of voice, it doesn’t really matter whether or not he actually dislikes Shadow and believes they could never be friends. He's trying to annoy Shadow and goad him into a fight because he wants to fight Shadow so badly it makes him look stupid. And we can tell by how he expresses his confusion to Tails that Shadow is just not getting this. To him Sonic is just being annoying and confusing. Sonic is targeting him specifically, and Shadow shoots back with his own words. And so it's also pointed that Shadow reciprocates/actually decides to fight Sonic when Sonic specifically challenges him. He doesn't respond to Sonic trying to goad him on, but when Sonic challenges him specifically he's much more interested in opposing him.
Anyways guys I love Shadow and Tails having a soft on the side relationship while Sonic flirts by convincing Shadow to fight him somehow😂💖
#sonic the hedgehog#tailstube#sonadails#sonshadails#sonadow#sontails#shadails#shadow the hedgehog#tails the fox#miles tails prower#i just be ramblin#man there are so many things about this episode#Another personal favorite interaction was when#Tails: Come on could you try to just say one nice thing about each other? One compliment? Please?#Sonic‚ mockingly: Anything you can do I can do better#Shadow: Yeah? Do it then. Prove it.#Sonic: Ah crap he called my bluff#Sonic: I uh...I love the way you...chaos control?#Tails: Okay. You do one now Shadow#Shadow: I uh... I also love the way you chaos control. ...It's impressive that you could do it with a fake emerald#Tails: See? You can compliment each other! Sorta#Sonic is on the aro/ace spectrum to me but to me his most compelling relationships are always little buddy effect related and knuckles#effect related#Which just means that he tends to hold relationships like his and Tails highly (and has taken more than one little buddy)‚ but is also#attracted to people who have tried to kill him. What can I say? He loves the softness and domesticity of having a smaller loyal partner as#he loves the danger and exhilaration of fighting/racing a strong opponent#Sonic and Shadow fighting (and especially Sonic trying to get Shadow to fight him on purpose) is just baseline what the two need#for 'toxic yaoi' so if someone can't even handle how hostile they were during the tailstube then...#Anyways‚ how we feelin Sonshadails fans?

i'm going to be honest i do sometimes nowadays find myself explaining to 22-year-olds why i think it's probably not ideal to use an AI summary podcast of a paper as a substitute for reading the paper
this is majestically cringe but i do try to limit myself to only doing it to people who have already applied to grad school and are deliberately trying to have the "critically reading the actual contents of the literature" job. i also think it's bad if an 18-year-old does it and never learns whether they could be good at reading papers but i don't think i have a good argument for them on why i have a meaningful perspective on its benefits that they should consider placing over their own prioritization of their time
#like. if it's for your required cancer bio class you hate that doesn't do a good job diving in to the papers anyway then sure#personally i just read those on the fly during class to the exact level needed to participate successfully but you do you.#but if you don't practice noticing that an image in a paper doesn't agree with the description in the figure legend#or has an extra thing in it that looks important but isn't mentioned by the authors#you are going to miss a lot of stuff that would let you like. do reasoning. about your work and how it relates to other people's work#box opener#like no one's reading as many papers as they're supposed to! (except my girlfriend who has a problem and reads about t-cell priming#over dinner)#no one does! you skim abstracts you look at titles you check who wrote it you go to talks. it's not like i think you have to read every#paper you could ever find relevant to your claims.#but there is like-- a thing you learn to do in paper-reading classes that is in fact the exact skill you use to evaluate#whether there are interesting research questions unanswered or if you have something important or if two papers contradict each other#and if so what you think was happening in paper number two and whether it's a biological difference or a mislabeled fly gene.#and not only is free chatgpt really bad at that shit. it can't see the pictures.#i don't think this is a major social issue and i'm biased because this is like The skill i think i have that allows me to do this job and i#disconcerts me when people appear to be actively avoiding learning to do it. but it's not the only skill you can have.#it's just weird to me because being a research biologist is a really optional life choice.

I've been wanting to go back to my eva comes back from the dead fic idea for ages but I could not for the life of me figure out what her attitude to vergil would be
and then today it finally hit me that I think she WOULD forgive vergil for everything as long as he gave some indication that he repented and was willing to change
because, after all, this is the woman who loved, married, and had kids with sparda -- who "woke up to justice" but still committed god knows what manner/number/scope of horrific acts of mass slaughter, terror, and quasi-genocide on humanity
sure, in some ways it's easier with sparda because his redemption came two thousand years ago, but eva is a smart woman, she knows who and what sparda is (I headcanon that her clear-eyed view of sparda without any hint of hero worship is one of the reasons he falls in love with her in the first place)
so yeah, a woman who loves a devil so soaked in blood you could practically smell it still staining his hands can still love her son, too
which is not to say it would be easy. there would be anger, and grief, and eva blaming herself (did she raise him that badly? did she fail to impress upon him that sparda's greatest achievement was his turning on mundus?), eva blaming sparda for leaving them without him, more anger, more grief -- but in the end vergil is her son and she would always be waiting for his redemption, certain it would come in the end
#eva#vergil#sparda#devil may cry#i think the games really under-sell sparda's past tbh#but imo that makes for an AMAZING contrast with vergil#sparda wakes up to justice and like that the slate is wiped clean#vergil commits one fraction of a percentage of the atrocities his father did and he's condemned as an irredeemable villain#and the only real differences between them are:#a) sparda to be fair accomplished an ENORMOUS boon to humanity by separating the human and demon worlds#b) time. literally just time. sparda turned to good two thousand years ago.#that is SO unfathomably long ago#he is literally demonic jesus#the people he killed are so ancient that it's difficult to even think of them AS people (humans with lives families etc.) in the same way#as the citizens of redgrave city#then there's also the argument of e.g. did vergil cause the qliphoth to grow or did he just take advantage of something that would happen#whether he involved himself or not#(like to be clear he should still have stopped it!!!)#(but also he was actively dying and desperate)#i also wonder if sparda WAS considered redeemed by humanity at that point two thousand years ago#or if it was more a case of 'okay you've done ONE good thing now fuck off and don't cause any more trouble'#..........god i have so many feelings about eva and sparda and how they relate to each other#and why eva was The One out of two thousand years on earth#she SEES you sparda!!!! she sees YOU!!!! not the saviour not the dark knight not the guardian dog not the right hand of mundus

Started watching the Bayverse movies with my besties and... Are we just too gay for these movies??? Admittedly we only finished the first two and got through a quarter of the third, but the second one was such a drag to sit through at times and it probably doesn't help that we do NOT care about Sam that much. I hope that there is a character arc for him in the rest of the third movie. Because so far he has not been fun to watch in that one. He just comes off as a slight manchild to me, like... I can see why he would be frustrated with where he is in life but the way he acts with others and lashes out does not help him in the slightest. I do have to admit though that seeing him go to Cybertronian Heaven in the second movie was the funniest part for me and my besties lol.
I'll just hope that the other guy in the next movies will be at least a bit more interesting. Doesn't even have to be a good guy, just an interesting guy for me lol
#rintalks#text#transformers#transformers bayverse#A lesbian demigirl a she/they lesbian and a nonbianry bisexual watch Bayverse with alcohol- You'll never guess what happens next#Adding a Drinking Game to your (attempted) movie marathon can increase the fun for the whole group lol#But only when everyone knows how to drink responsibly and does not peer pressure of course#I feel like they made Sam too much of an Everyman that he basically had nothing as a person himself#He is literally a middle-class white teenage boy who is not too smart nor too sporty a bit awkward but says witty lines and-#It feels like so much to just say nothing#No real soft and or hard skills to speak of for this dude#Nothing about him as a person was what was needed in the two movies either#It was so circumstancial#If he wasn't related to his captain/explorer grandfather and had his glasses then he never would've been sucked into the conflict#if he didn't touch the shard in the second movie then he wouldn't have been an accidental cybertronian usb stick#I do admit that the movie wouldn't have come to it's conclusion without his involvement and the knowledge he sucked up but everything else-#It wasn't exactly HIS knowledge and he wasn't the guy who had all the breakthroughs or epiphanies.#Also. Him going to cybertronian heaven lol. All these soldiers also gave their lives to protect Optimus where do they go? Lmao#I feel like Mikaela would've been a better protagonist but considering that it was the 2000s and she was a girl in a “”boy franchise“”-#fat fucking chance man ToT#The way she was driving in reverse while having Bumblebee in the back shoot at Decepticons was som genuinely cool shit ngl#And she only got the car bc she knew how to unlock and jumpstart it!!! Queen shit!!!#I'm so far not a fan of how weirdly enabling Carly is of Sams more immature tendencies but I won't give up hope and just watch!#Maybe they'll break up bc they see they're not good for each other or maybe the trauma will change them and draw them closer to each other#there are many ways to go with both of these characters and their relationship#Am I having too much hope? Probably but I don't want to be too cynical about things lol#makes life a bit more fun that way too#Funnily enough the only characters me and my besties found ourselves slightly attached to were the idiot twins in the second movie#and the little monstertruck guy voiced by Tom Kenny at times. Not in all his scenes but you know. A win is a win.#And of course Bumblebee except for that scene where he pissed on that dude in the first movie that was not it
