I watched Bad Dreams (1988) just for Bruce Abbott and I was NOT expecting it to be good but actually I really enjoyed it? I think it’s kind of a horror hidden gem. And the soundtrack slaps.
#ej.txt#like it has less than 1000 reviews on letterboxd and its super hard to find so i expected it to be like#an incoherent low budget horror movie which can be fun so i was like sure ill watch that tonight#but its actually got a really creepy and well executed premise with good performances#im also reluctant to watch horror movies that center around mental illness/take place in psych ward because they can be exploitative#and like the depictions of BPD specifically wasnt GREAT but none of the horror in the movie felt like it was coming from the patients#like the fact that they all had mental illnesses wasnt what made the film creepy they were very much the victims#and all of the characters felt developed and more than 1 note#also:#leave it to my man Bruce to always play a doctor who forms wildly inappropriate relationships with his patients
