I think in Singapore we don’t have a bus stop on an island in the middle of the road… I’d seen it in Korea before though. So on this morning, we stood waiting for the tram while sipping coffee. At least over in Prague it didn’t feel dangerous to stand on that narrow island. In Korea the island is wide so it felt kind of ok…  won’t kenna (get) knocked down by a speeding car. Yeah, we have A LOT of reckless drivers in Singapore so don’t ever implement it here.
The Prague Castle is a short tram ride away. Very very crowded though. There was crowd control so that not too many people are packed into the castle at any one time, but don’t expect not to see heads everywhere in your pictures, haha!
We had lunch on the way down. It is standard practice to offer bread at every meal, but it may or may not be included in the meal price, if it isn’t, you can return it so that you won’t be charged.
Next, John Lennon Wall and walking around Kampa island. The busker wrote a cute note 🙂
And this pianist in the park.. I can probably sit there all day and listen to him ❤
Had the best tasting grilled vegetables that night. Was it then that I fell in love with eggplant?!
We covered many places during the walking tour on Day 1 so we dropped many places of interests on Day 2.

Hit the road, Jack
“Lara! Hurry up!” I heard Zac call from the car, followed by the honking of a horn. Out of the four of us, he was easily the most excited for the camping trip. Kenna was excited, but she was weary of bugs and snakes. Jack just never seemed to care for the outdoors; it had taken a great deal of coaxing from Zac to even get him to come. Even then he all but hid in his hoodie the whole time. I wouldn’t let his reluctance ruin my fun, though. I grabbed my sleeping bag, backpack, and tent before running down the stairs, calling a quick good bye to my mom and dad before heading out the door.
I went over to Zac’s car, setting my backpack in the back seat as Zac opened the little trailer he’d borrowed from his dad for the trip. He took my tent and sleeping bag, putting them inside. He’d just about closed the door when my mom ran out, hollering for him to wait. She smiled over at me as she handed him another backpack. “Wanted to make sure you all had enough food.” She said, pulling me into a hug and kissing the top of my head.
“Mom.” I whined, half-heartedly pushing away, “I’m eighteen now. A Graduate.” I reminded her, as if it were necessary. Graduation had been just a couple weeks ago; this trip was one of the ways my friends and I were celebrating.
“I know, I know.” She said, smiling fondly as she released me. “Be careful, honey.”
“I will, Mom. Don’t worry.” I said, leaning up to kiss her cheek before turning and walking back to the car, climbing in and setting my backpack in the floorboard as Zac climbed into the driver’s seat.
“Seatbelts! So we can be safe!” He said, impersonating Dora as he clicked his seatbelt. I laughed, following his lead. I leaned out of the window as we drove off, waving to my mom.
“That’s probably not safe, you know.” I heard a voice from behind me say. I gave a squeak of surprise, whipping around to see who it was. I pouted, reaching over and swatting Jack’s arm.
“Don’t do that.” I said with a huff, only receiving a grin in response.
“What? It’s not my fault you didn’t notice me.” He said, nudging my side. I frowned, though it slowly became a grin. I couldn’t stay mad and any of these dorks for long.
“You ready to sleep with the bugs, Kenna?” I asked, grinning.
“Lara! Don’t say that! My tent will keep the bugs out…right? Zac, right!?” She looked over at Zac, blonde hair flipping over her shoulder.
“Yes, Kenna. It will. Lara, be nice. Our poor little cinnamon roll doesn’t like the creepy crawlies.” He got a, well deserved, smack to the arm for that. “Ow! Hey, rude.” Jack and I only laughed harder. “Yeah, yeah, laugh it up.” Zac said, pouting at us in the mirror.
“How far away is this camp ground you’re taking us too?” I asked, sitting forward a bit to try and see the map on his phone.
“Just a few minutes out of town. I’m surprised we’ve never gone here before. Real nice from what I heard.” Zac replied, glancing over at the phone as he stopped at the last stoplight in town. He was right, and the next few minutes were spent with us poking fun at each other. We pulled into the park and, slowly but surely, the talking died off as we tried to find an empty camp ground.
“There! Finally!” Kenna yelled after a couple minutes of driving the winding roads to find an empty spot. We were near the back of the park, and the actual campground was about three miles from where the car park was, but it worked. We all got our bags from the car the trailer before starting the short hike out to the campground. It was plenty big for our four tents and a fire in the middle. We help each other get the tents set up, then Zac and Jack went to get some firewood.
While they were away, Kenna and I sorted out whose bags were whose, and cleared a spot for the fire before going to find kindling. The boys returned and we set up the fire, waiting until dark to light it. Jack sat, twirling a switch blade, the fire reflecting off the metal. I’d never seen one like it before. “Where’d you get that?” I asked, cocking my head to the side.
He looked up, as if surprised I’d even noticed before grinning, the lighting only making his longer canine teeth that much more noticeable; Zac had said he’d filed them to look like fangs. “Made it. Pretty easy, actually. The hardest part was getting the blade off the Liston knife.” He closed the knife. “Then I just put together a casing with a spring-loaded switch and, Ta-Da!” He finished, flipping it open again.
“Wait, what kind of knife?” Kenna asked, frowning a bit.
“Liston. It was used by doctors in the 1800’s. They used them a lot in amputations and other surgeries.” He said with a shrug.
“How do you know that?” It was Zac who spoke up this time.
“I looked stuff up about them.” He answered, hesitating just a bit too long for my liking. “It’s the knife used in the Jack the Ripper murders.” Before he’d said that, it had never occurred to me why Jack’s name sounded familiar. Jack Ripplinger. Jack the Ripper.
“So you’re named after a serial killer?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Not quite…” He said with a shrug. “My parents named me John Williams. I had my name changed a few years ago.”
“Why would you want to be named that?” Zac asked with a confused expression.
“Gotta live up to expectations, don’t I?” He asked with a smirk.
“What do you mean, expectations…?” I asked, getting uneasy.
“Because, dear Lara, I said this was the knife used in the Jack the Ripper murders. Not the kind they thought was used, not even the kind that was used. It. Was. The knife. Used. In. The murders.” He said, still smirking at us.
“H-how do you know?” Kenna asked, and I noticed her scoot away from him.
“Because I still remember the surprised look on poor Polly’s face. Annie’s wonderful scarf I gave her. Elizabeth got lucky. I was interrupted by a passerby. Catherin, not so much. Then, ah, dear Mary Kelly. By far, my most famous work. She was asleep when I got to Miller’s Court. Not for long, though. She tried to scream, but she was in shock, like she didn’t know I was coming for her.” He said with a dark chuckle. “They’d have found the heart, too, had they only checked a little ways down the road.” By now, we’d all scooted away from him. “Granted, over the years I’ve had to be more discrete…be less…choosy with my victims. I’ve had the occasional slip up…when I go too long without feeding, I get a bit...extravagant…the Black Dahlia, for instance…I’ll stay in a place for a while, loose control, then I have to leave. No one ever remembers me, though…” He trailed off with a shrug.
“What do you mean, feed…?” Kenna asked softly.
Jack smiled, pressing his tongue against the back of his canine teeth. “Contrary to what Zac has told you, they’re not filed.”
I shook my head. “Surely you’re joking…Vampires aren’t real…right?”
Jack gave us another unsettling grin. “You’re about to find out.” He said, flipping the blade open and starting towards us.
A Week Later In The News:
“Three teens were found murdered in Pinewood Park this weekend. Zackery Kelly, Kenna McKay, and Lara Underwood were camping in the park to celebrate their graduation. The police have not released much information beyond that they are reminiscent of five iconic murders from London in 1888. Whether or not this killer was inspired by The Ripper is still unknown, though seems likely. The camp site and vehicle were undisturbed, so the motive is still a mystery as well. Police have no leads as to who the assailant might be, so they advise you to be cautious. If you have any information concerning the case, please contact police.”
Miles Away:
A man in a dark hoodie stands at a bus stop, twirling a homemade switchblade in his pocket. The buss pulls up and he gets on, sitting near the back as he sings softly to himself, grinning from ear to ear. “Hit the road Jack, and don't you come back no more, no more, no more…”
