Day 3 & 4

Day 3, classes go on as usual. Midnight teaches art history, Mic teaches English, Thirteen teaches physics, Aizawa teaches Heroic Foundations (Written), Hound Dog teaches biology, and Cementoss teaches Japanese Literature.

The happenings take place after school, where Tenya and Momo decide to invite everyone to train after school in one of the six gyms. They take charge, making sure that everyone can use what they want or need to, and helping them understand how each appliance works. They make sure to keep a schedule of sorts, delegating a certain amount of time.

Now, when Day 4 rolls around...

Day 4

This is, you guessed it, the Class President Elections! As in canon, almost everyone immediately wants to be class president. However, Izuku, Fumikage, Kouji, Mezou, and Minoru back-out, either because they're too shy/nervous to do it, or because they feel like they wouldn't do a good job.

Because everyone wants to be the president, Momo suggests a 'seconds' system, wherein you need at least one other person to back you up. As such, Momo, Tenya, and Mina are seconded.

To further back-up their desired position, they have a small speech, about three minutes each. In the end, Momo is voted Class President, and Tenya is voted Vice-President. Momo then asks Mina to take care of class outings and the like, to which everyone agrees, (it's the reason she had more than one vote after all).

At lunch, we do not follow Izuku and his friends. Instead, we see All Might, and his conversation with Nedzu.

Nedzu asks if he's found a suitable successor yet. All Might says he has, but has been rejected. Rather than feeling disappointed, he looks back on it with fondness, noting that, if he had a quirkless hero to look up to, he may have felt insulted by Nana's offer, and would have been determined to become a quirkless hero too.

Nedzu then presumes that there is no longer a need to pass down OfA, as All for One is dead. All Might agrees, but also considers the offer Nighteye gave to him two or so years ago.

He decides that it both time to rekindle an old friendship, and to remember his own origins.

Momo and Tenya meet up with the other Hero class president, Kendou Itsuka, and the vice, Shouda Nirengeki. Itsuka and Momo have heard about the previous years' rivalry, about how it went a bit too far, and decide to stop it early. They discuss combining classes and having more social interactions outside of school.

They agree that rivarly is perfectly fine, but it's not okay to go too far, to the point that they're more like enemies, if anything.

Tenya also warns them about Bakugou's attitude, which may paint a bad light on the class as a whole.

Momo and Tenya are voted as class president and vice-president respectively

All Might speaks to Nedzu about OfA and decides to speak to Nighteye once more

Momo and Tenya meet Itsuka and Nirengeki

okay look okay picking the microphone up holding it close listen to me okay kendou itsuka is an assertive, pragmatic go-getter who was able to take the leadership of her class as class prez and in tetsutetsus words "prevented everyone from being pulled in to monomas orbit". despite this, we also see her disguise self-deprecation in the form of that pragmatism, and it almost always comes in the form of comparison to other women, especially yaoyorozu. this is not from a hatred of yaomomo or other women or even the idea of traditionally feminine things; rather it is revealed to us in the beauty pageant chapter of the light novels that kendou struggles with the fact she does not personally identify with traditional femininity (and finds gender conventions "obnoxious" in general)-- and fears that it makes her unsuitable or incapable of navigating spaces with other women she seeks companionship with. she's confident enough to know she doesn't want to compromise herself, but she's unable to stop that self doubt from leaking out, especially when its in such a way that she feels she's lifting up someone she deeply admires, like yaomomo, whom she also spends time in the beauty pageant thinking of and thinking about how she would be perfectly suited to the event. we almost never see her take this sort of burden on when it comes to interacting with men: when she fights with tetsutetsu, her take is "he's dumb, but that's honestly kinda fine!", and we know how she felt about mustard and his gun. thats because while kendou is self conscience about something that exists within a broader cultural context, she doesn't even really care about whether or not men see her as "properly feminine"-- what she cares about is the opinion of other girls, like when she gets flustered when they talk about her being a good potential boyfriend, or as we see in JTA, her wanting to go head to head with yaomomo to prove herself as a worthy peer. she really has no malice or even resentment for yaomomo, it's just that heroism is the field on which they both meet on, and kendou is excited to share that activity and wants to impress someone she deeply admires.

for yaomomo, we know that she's pretty assured in her internal self identity: yaomomo always knows who she is and stays true to that, and never seems to struggle to place herself in a broader social context when it comes to inherent qualities: where she views her own defects is in terms of actions, like a failure to lead or to keep up in power scaling with her cohorts. to her, those things are always something she can fix if she keeps trying, but where she falters is asserting her right to continue trying even if it means possibly even potentially imposing on another person. and she first gets a taste of moving past that with her exam with todoroki, which then pushes her to have the confidence she needs to accept kendous challenge in the JTA; because she viewed kendou as someone admirable and who could take leadership roles with ease, and wanted to prove herself worthy of the friendship kendou has offered. again: heroism is their neutral ground, and both of them have similar ideas of chivalry and honor that make combat a mutually enjoyable and enriching experience. momo says that she "doesnt want kendou to see her pathetic" because she values her judgement and wants to show how she, too, has improved.

anyway. i think what im getting at is that kendou is very comfortable being assertive (External) but not as comfortable in her own skin (internal) and yaomomo is someone comfortable in her own skin (internal) but not as comfortable being assertive (external) and both of them admire what the other has and have a vested interest in sharing their mutual progress by comparing their skills in relevant areas . and also because theyre lesbians i think

BnHA Chapter 211: Jane, Stop This Crazy Thing

Previously on BnHA: The fifth and final joint training battle began with Team DekuRakaMinaTa VS Team MonoShinYanaYuiShou. (There’s probably a better way to combine those last five names. Maybe it’s time to retire this joke.) Anyways, All Might answered a phone call from Gran Torino and went to go chat with him about OFA, probably thinking to himself that surely he wouldn’t miss much in just the next five minutes or so! So while he was doing that, Shouda, Yanagi, and Kodai attacked Ochako, Mina, and Mineta with a bunch of huge flying objects. And Monoma confronted Deku and started taunting him, first trying to goad him into revealing his friends’ location, and then trying to bait him by snidely accusing his boyfriend of being the one who caused the demise of the Symbol of Peace. Fucking ouch. He almost baited me with that one tbh. Anyway, that really pissed Deku off, but because he’s a smart kid he still didn’t respond and instead went to blast Monoma with his air gun attack. Except that all of a sudden some weird fucking shit started happening and Deku’s right hand basically exploded with black lightning. Ah, well, you know. Just One for All things.

Today on BnHA: Flashback!Monoma (from like five minutes ago) bonds with Shinsou over having quirks that don’t necessarily make one think “hero!” at first glance. He asks Shinsou how he goaded Deku into opening his mouth back at the sports festival, and Shinsou says he insulted his classmates. Monoma is all “!” and we then cut back to the present, where Deku is all “NNNNNGHHHH” and scary black tendrils are lancing out from his arm every which way trying to either capture Monoma or flat out kill him (who can say). At first everyone is all “Midoriya fucking powered himself up again?” not realizing that for once it was unintentional and he has no control over it. Once Deku starts screaming at everyone to run away -- and the “new technique” starts ripping apart the entire fucking stage -- it kinda starts to sink in, though. All Might tells Aizawa they need to end the match, and meanwhile Ochako floats herself up and latches on to Deku and then calls out to Shinsou for help. Probably because she’s learned her lesson about waiting on the teachers to ever do anything, sob.

(As always, all comments not marked with an ETA are my mostly-unspoiled reactions from my first readthrough of this chapter. I’m caught up with the manga now at chapter 224, so any ETAs will reflect that.)

so we’re opening chapter 211 in exactly the way that everyone was expecting! with a fucking Monoma flashback lmao

whoever was telling him that, they’re really fucking stupid by the way. Monoma legit has one of the best quirks in the game. all it means is he would work best on a team, that’s all

so he’s bonding with Shinsou (this is a flashback, obviously, so that first panel was a flashback-within-a-flashback) over them both having quirks that people looked down on

lol well Shinsou is saying “that doesn’t make me happy” in response to Monoma declaring they were the same type. so now I know they can banter, and so the answer is yes, I do in fact ship it. this is not a thing I was expecting to happen in this arc. Shinsou I’ve gone from you being in the background every so often popping up to remind us you exist, to me having adopted you and shipping you with at least two people, one of whom is the kid who in the previous chapter was like “hey you know that thing that Bakugou secretly harbors horrible guilt over? let me just go and get in his boyfriend’s face and be all ‘yeah it totally was his fault.’” man. life sure is funny

and apparently this little weasel did it on Shinsou’s advice!

LMAO Monoma this is the role you were born to play. all you have to do to succeed is insult class 1-A omg. can you do it? it’s gonna be so fucking hard for you, so out of character. you’ll have to dig down deep

anyway so I’m not sure if this is Monoma or Shinsou monologuing here (though I’m leaning toward Monoma because he’s responsible for 8 out of 10 monologues in general when he’s around) (ETA: yeah it’s Monoma), but either way it’s an interesting speech

(ETA: so hey, now that we’ve caught up to this point, I finally have access to the Viz translations again! their translation makes a lot more sense, and makes it clear this is just a continuation of Monoma’s speech. here:

I appreciate the deeper look into Monoma’s psyche, but I don’t know if I buy into this argument that his quirk forces him to act unheroically. Shinsou’s quirk is a different story perhaps, but there’s nothing about the copy quirk that necessitates unscrupulous conduct in order to win the day. it just so happens that he is very good at goading others, and it only makes sense to use that to his advantage when he can. like, it’s a respectable strategy, if one that doesn’t necessarily win you a lot of friends. 

I for one don’t feel like he needs to justify himself; it’s a battle, and you gotta do what you gotta do to try and give yourself the edge, especially when you’re up against the fucking main character. but anyway, maybe he feels a little guilty deep down and has to rationalize it like this. or maybe he’s just trying to bond with Shinsou and be all “yeah I get you man, you don’t have a choice, it’s rough.” or maybe a little of column A and a little of column B, who knows. anyways.)

in the meantime, check out Monoma and Shinsou’s confused and slightly apprehensive expressions! “did Midoriya’s arm just fucking explode”

I probably robbed you guys of a delightful time of watching me freak the fuck out and thinking Deku had lost control of OFA again and was gonna blow his arm off or some fucking shit. but instead I’m just fucking excited because this little shrubbery of a boy is about to level the fuck up and he doesn’t even know it yet

(ETA: actually this reminds me a lot of Katsuki facing the League of Villains and running his mouth at them and appearing confident but all the while having that one bead of sweat visible the entire time. Monoma has a lot more in common with him than he may think.

...in fact, I would totally read an AU where Monoma does more successfully in the cavalry battle and makes it into the tournament and consequently ends up drawing the League’s attention instead of Katsuki -- because he does do a very decent villain impression, this one -- and as a result he’s the one who gets taken. featuring a bonus rescue attempt led by Tetsutetsu and Kendou, and a Kamino arc that strangely enough ends up playing out very similarly to the one we actually got, in the end. anyways. it’s an interesting What If to think about.)

there’s another panel of Ochako staring in horror. there’s been a lot of those. is it just to show her concern, or is she planning something to help him (I have no idea what she could do though), or is she taking mental notes here and this means she’ll be hounding him with questions about his quirk after this and will eventually learn about OFA too?

(ETA: thankfully no one other than Shouto thinks to ask, and Shouto accepts the weakest of excuses without hesitation because this is the densest and most trusting group of kids to ever walk the earth. Deku your secret is safe for life. all he has to do is just shrug his shoulders every damn time. “fucking quirks, though. wild.”)

idk if this is too specific but regresser Monoma at an older age (4-5?) and regressed Shinsou hanging out?? Shinsou's a baby, right?

♡ I can do this, sure! Sorry if it's not my best work.

♡ Neito Monoma is a brat no matter what way you slice him. So when he stomps up to 1A and demands to see the baby, they just decide to see what's good first.

♡ What's he gonna do? Call the cops? No, but he'll lay on the floor and throw a tantrum the likes of which they've never seen before and that just isn't their style.

♡ So, Momo interfaces with Itsuka to see what's up! Like, why is there a fussy four year old- AND Madame La Fleur the floral jackal- stomping out in front of their dorms.

♡ They find out that Monoma just. Would not go back for his nap, so Tetsutetsu and Pony took him on a walk to try and work him out. They ended up losing him because he's a slippery little brat.

♡ Itsuka politely requests that they just hold onto him until he either comes out of his headspace on his own... Or falls asleep. And she sweetens the deal with the promise of lemon bars so that settles that.

♡ Shinsou would probably have a designated regression time every day following classes. He didn't have anyone in 1C that he could really trust with his littlest headspace, so 1A's support system is incredibly helpful for him!

♡ Neito likely catches onto it because Tetsutetsu and Eijirou talk at their internship with Fatgum, and Tetsutetsu has a big mouth.

♡ Why does this strike Monoma so? Well, since the crushing knowledge that Shinsou would be placed in 1A settled in, he decided to try and woo him into switching with his natural charm.

♡ It hasn't worked, so he settles for trying to befriend the guy.

♡ So, with this mindset in littlespace, Monoma tromps to 1A and demands to see the baby!

♡ But, once he is let in and Jirou helps him take his shoes off, he's utterly gobsmacked.

♡ He didn't actually anticipate getting this far and now he's lost. Where are they going? The common room? Oh, okay. Yes, he would like to hold Momo's hand, please...

♡ Hitoshi is on the floor, occupying a Hello Kitty play mat, having tummy time and just vibing with Miss Spooky. And Neito is just standing there! He didn't plan this far ahead, y'all.

♡ Momo asks if he'd like to hold little Hitoshi, like a big kid. He'd say yes after just standing there in complete confusion for a hot second.

♡ She picks up Shinsou and has Monoma on the couch, and sits him in his lap. Hitoshi is Hold.

♡ Monoma has Shinsou for ten seconds before he decides that this is his best friend and he attempts to just steal him.

♡ This doesn't fly with Momo and he loses holding privileges.

♡ But, he does play with Madame while babbling about anything and everything- and Hitoshi is such a good listener!

♡ It's not the most eventful playdate Neito has ever had, but he swears that next time he'll be better prepared, he promises.

♡ Hitoshi's chilling, ngl. He doesn't know what's going on, but he likes listening and eventually just.

♡ Crawls on Monoma.

♡ And sprawls in his lap.

♡ Then falls asleep.

♡ Once again, Monoma is left starstruck.

♡ When Kendou comes to pick her up he yells at her to not wake the baby, subsequently waking the baby.

♡ He still blames Mama Itsuka.

-> when he got to recover girl's office, you were sleeping. she explained to him that there wasn't anything major, but you were extremely tired, therefore, sleeping. recommended a few days of rest, and then you'd be good as new.

-> of course he heard you were never recovering almost dying.

-> deku was a crying mess, poor him was so scared, kirishima was trying to calm him down but it was impossible.

-> when bakugou knew HE had hurt YOU?

-> "what the fuck were you even doing there, huh? a damn quirk stealer like you shouldn't be fucking allowed near people who earned they own place here. what? were you jealous of them? stop fucking crying and ow–"

-> "katsuki. stop." nobody saw you woke up, you'd had to thank your boyfriend for that.

-> you asked everyone to leave and explained bakugou it wasn't midoriya's fault, so he shouldn't bully him.

-> he said yes to you but had now intention of stopping lmao.

-> they took you to your dorm room, where bakugou had already set a bed under yours so he could watch over you at nights.

-> even though mostly it was just being her assistant, this one time you were called to a collapsed zone just outside of tokyo.

-> supposedly, the area was already secure when you arrived, you, momo and kendo used your quirks to help rescue trapped people wherever uwabami told you.

-> momo was trying to help a civilian, and didn't notice the big rock falling from above.

-> you launched yourself towards them, trying to push them out of the way.

-> the rock hit you instead.

-> you didn't remember a thing after that.

-> todoroki was at his father's agency when he got the call.

-> he was losing his little composure, and his left arm began to feel hotter and hotter.

-> you were taken to the operation room, leaving him on the edge of combusting in tears of impotence.

-> even though momo tried again and again to explain him, he shut down everything except you.

-> all he could think about was you, lying in a operation table, fighting for your life.

-> the rest of the u.a. arrived with time, the procedure didn't end.

-> everyone was more than shocked to see todoroki so feral, a single word or touch from someone could develop in a big fire, from the guy.

-> "they're going to be fine, there were a couple complications during the procedure, but everything turned out okay. we'll keep them in here for two weeks, in observation, but we're confident that they'll be leaving in less than a month".

-> the doctors allowed him into your room, and he decided to stay there until you could leave.

-> NOBODY was allowed there, besides your family and doctors.

-> he really felt like anyone else would hurt you.

-> when you woke up, he was sleeping besides you.

-> "oh, you're awake, baby, you're awake" as soon as he saw you, he took you into his arms.

-> after the doctors gave you permission to leave, he was right by to your side the whole time.

-> at the dorms, todoroki woke up before you to help you get ready, and went to sleep after so he made sure you were okay.

-> izuku understood your boyfriend worried, but highkey worried about his health.

-> for a while, todoroki ignored yaoyorozu existence, even if he knew it wasn't actually her fault, he hated that you put yourself in danger for someone else.

-> with time, you recovered and todoroki started to go back to his usual self.

-> but everyone remembered how hard can be to todoroki when his loved ones are in danger.

-> with shoji, we're going to skip right after you get injured.

-> because i'm sure he wouldn't be upset at whoever you were protecting.

-> he's a very logical dude, and understand you were doing your job as a hero.

-> and he loves you for it.

-> when they told him you got wounded, he tried real hard to hide how worried he was.

-> you are pretty strong, and lowkey stubborn so you accept getting treated instead of saying "it was nothing"?

-> but he's shoji, he's cool headed, he doesn't let his feelings cloud his judgement.

-> turns out, that rule didn't apply to you.

-> don't get me wrong, he didn't get violent like bakugou or todoroki.

-> he did freaked, asked recovery girl about your condition every five minutes.

-> "can i see them now? oh, right, sorry... are they alright? when will they be able to leave? can i go in now?"

-> no one had ever seen him so openly worried.

-> it's really observant, if you go back to school right after the incident, will notice immediately if something is wrong.

-> like you're in pain, or even uncomfortable because of your injury.

-> ask for permission to take you back to the dorms, you need to get rest and won't even argue about it.

-> if you have to stay in bed for a couple of days, be sure he will spend his day there.

-> tries everything to take your mind off your boring room.

-> tells you stories, lame jokes, keeps you updated on the class gossip, even if he usually doesn't like that kind of stuff.

Thirteen: say something

“Alright smile for the picture everyone,” ordered Mr. Aizawa. You were all gathered together as a class, talking pictures outside the dorms.

“Wait, take another I think I blinked,” said Kaminari.

“No.” Mr. Aizawa handed back the phone he was holding and went back inside.

“Girls picture, Y/N come here.” Mina waved you over.

“Say cheese!” smiled Deku as he snapped the picture.

“Aw, it's so cute!” gushed Mina, looking at the candid.

“Mind if we take that picture now Y/N?” asked Deku. In the corner of your eye, you saw Bakugou and Kirishima. This time it was Kirishima dragging Bakugou away from starting a scene.

“Sure thing. Uh Shoto, do you mind?” You handed Todoroki your phone. You placed your hand on your hip as Deku rested his in the middle of your back.

“Smile.”

“Thanks Todoroki. Uh, I’ll text you the picture later.” Deku nodded.

“Alright guys I’m starving. Can we please go eat?” groaned Sero. You laughed.

“Lead the way tape boy.”

To ensure safety, students wouldn’t be allowed to venture off to different restaurants before Prom. Instead, a buffet style dinner was offered in the dining hall. Any and all food imaginable was there, which honestly seemed better than some over-priced restaurant.

“Gosh everything looks so good!” drooled Deku as he stared at the array of food before him.

“I think I’ll end up getting one of everything,” you joked.

“It will make good fuel for dancing!” said Iida. You laughed.

“Iida I can’t wait to see what kind of moves you bust out.”

You sat down and began to enjoy your meal with the rest of your classmates. The worries that consumed you earlier seemed to be gone. Your focus was on your friends. The laughs you all were sharing, the silly memories you were making, and the night was still so young.

“I’m stuffed,” Deku said, pushing his plate of food.

“Same here. I’m gonna head over to the theatre really quick just to double check everything before you all start flooding in.” You got up from your seat and cleaned up your spot.

“We’ll meet you there in a bit,” smiled Iida. You nodded and began to make your way to the theatre.

You grabbed the keys to the entrance and let yourself inside. Everything looked just as good as you left it. You really had transformed the theatre into something magical. The decorations, the lights, the vibrant colors, it really was a beautiful explosion of emotions. You walked over to the punch station and started to set up cups. You soon heard slow footsteps enter the theatre.

“Hey uh, the dance hasn’t started yet so I’m gonna need you to wait outside…” You looked up to see who was in front of you. Your face turned hot.

“Mind giving me a hand?” Bakugou handed you his black and white rose boutonniere. You sighed and went around the table to stand in front of him. You took the boutonniere with your shaky hands and began to pin it onto his suit. He looked devilishly handsome, wearing the classic suit and tie you had suggested to him weeks ago.

“You look beautiful,” he whispered. You didn’t look up at him, keeping your eyes on the flowers.

“Thank you,” you said plainly. Bakugou sighed.

“Can we talk?” he asked. You finished pinning the flowers to his suit and looked up at him, crossing your arms.

“What’s there to talk about?”

“Y/N please I just need to explain-”

“Explain what? A-are you embarrassed of me? Is that it?” Bakugou attempted to take your hand but you didn’t let him.

“No that’s not it at all. Please-”

“Listen Katsuki. You know how I feel. That hasn’t changed. But if you are gonna act one way around me and then turn around and tell everyone else that I’m meaningless to you, that just isn’t gonna work. Your actions are telling me one thing but the shit that comes out of your mouth says another. You should know that I am not one to be pushed around and I’ll be damned if I’m gonna waste my time on someone who couldn’t give less of a fuck about me. So please Katsuki...”

You had to take a deep breath to keep yourself from just bawling your eyes out in front of him. Bakugou’s eyes began to water a little as well.

“God damnit Katsuki fucking say something!” You cried. You turned around, your back facing him. No way you were going to cry in front of him. You fanned your eyes with your hands.

“The dance starts in 5 minutes. Make yourself useful and stand by the door, collecting tickets. I’m gonna finish setting up here,” you mumbled.

“Y/N-”

“Go!” You pointed to the door. Bakugou sniffled, but went over by the entrance. You sighed and continued to set up the punch station.

“WELCOME TO UA’S THIRD YEAR PROM! ARE YOU READY TO PARTYYY?!” Present Mic seemed to be enjoying the dance more than anyone. People began to flood inside the theatre, rushing straight onto the dance floor. Music blaring, people dancing, your friends smiling. All those agonizing months of planning seemed to be more than worth it. You stood by the punch station, pouring drinks for your fellow classmates.

“I’ve got this,” said a voice behind you. You turned around to see Mr. Aizawa.

“Oh, thank you sir.”

“I knew you’d be able to pull this off,” he said. You smiled.

“Does that mean I’m not getting expelled?” you laughed.

“Don’t push it. You’ve still got a few months before graduation.” You sighed.

“Noted.”

“But You and Bakugou certainly make a good team. That’s a bond you better cherish when you become a Pro-Hero,” explained AIzawa. You looked down.

“I guess so…”

“I think you two just needed a push in the right direction.”

“What do you mean?” Mr. Aizawa took a deep breath.

“Bakugou was never your greatest enemy, but since you fought with him all the time, that’s all you could see him as. Now, he can be your greatest ally.”

“I wouldn’t go that far…”

“I’m not the only one who noticed it but you and Bakugou do work well together. Both of you have grown a lot these past months. You have each other to thank for that.”

“Maybe…”

“Now go enjoy the dance. That’s part of your punishment as well.”

“You’re forcing me to have fun?”

“Yes. Now go.” Aizawa shooed you away. You chuckled to yourself.

“Y/N everything looks amazing!” shouted Mina over the music. You smiled.

“I’m glad you like it.”

“Come dance, you deserve it!”

Mina grabbed your hand and led you to the dance floor. You bounced around carelessly with your friends. You laughed as you watch Deku and Iida attempt to stay on the beat. Denki spun Jirou around and Todoroki swayed a little to the music.

Maybe dances aren’t so bad after all.

“ALRIGHT UA, THE TIME IN THE NIGHT HAS COME TO CROWN OUR KING AND QUEEN! MAY OUR NOMINEES JOIN ME ON STAGE?” announced Present Mic.

The nominees for Prom Queen included Hatsume, Kendou, Momo, Mina, and Uraraka. Nominees for King included Sero, Aoyama, Monoma, Tetustetsu, and Todoroki (he lost a bet with Deku). Everyone lined up on stage and the crowd gathered on the floor.

“Oh my gosh Todoroki looks like he’s gonna off himself,” you laughed.

“He shouldn’t have lost to me in trivia,” said Deku.

“The tie breaker question was about All Might, obviously he was gonna lose,” huffed Iida.

“Whatever he lost fair and square. I hope he wins King though, I voted for him like a hundred times.”

“You are cruel Deku.”

“ALRIGHT LET'S GET TO THE RESULTS!” shouted Present Mic. He reached for the first envelope.

“WAIT-”

You clapped your hand over your mouth in awe. Running onto the stage was none other than Katsuki Bakugou, snatching a microphone off of the DJ booth. He stood in the middle of the stage. Whispers and murmurs filled the room.

“QUIET EXTRAS!” he shouted, “I, uh, I’ve got something to say...”

You began to get really nervous, looking up at Bakugou.

Notes: I hope you like this anon! I’ve never written for this pairing so I hope it turned out ok! Also, I hope you don’t mind I give them a happy ending! How the soulmate thing works: Only people who have severed white strings can see strings, but the people who can see them are the ones who got hurt, not the ones who did the hurting.

                                         Severed white strings Denki first notices Tetsutetsu at the sports festival. It would be hard not too. His toned muscles, his strong quirk, his determination. Both his fight with Eijirou and his arm wrestling  match with the redhead had Denki blushing, a fact that was helpfully pointed out by Hanta.

“Which one of ‘em's making you a gay mess?”

Katsuki glares at him on his other side, making it clear that Eijirou is off limits. “Don’t worry Bakubro. It’s one hundred percent Tetsutetsu for me.”

Denki doesn’t think much of his little crush. Hell, he’s had a crush on every boy in his class! All of those went away, so this one would too. Right?

Plus, Denki had made a fool of himself and lost to the vines girl. There was no way Tetsutetsu would even be interested in him.

If only it was that easy. Eijirou and Tetsutetsu had become friends. That meant he’d eat lunch with them sometimes, hang out with them after school or train with them after school hours. (Them being Mina, Hanta, Eijirou and Denki. Katsuki conveniently couldn’t make it whenever the 1-B student was around.) Denki’s crush doesn’t go away. It gets worse. At this point, Denki is fully in love with this boy. Then Kendo starts to join them on their excursions. Next thing Denki knows, her and Tetsutetsu are announcing their relationship to the group.

Eijirou wraps an arm around Tetsutetsu’s shoulders, Mina pulls Kendo into a bone crushing hug and Hanta chuffs one of the silver haired boys shoulders. 

The only thing Denki can do is get up and run. He feels guilty of course, his friends are bound to be confused about his reaction, but he couldn’t help it. Tetsutetsu, the boy he is in love with, is dating Kendo. Now, he doesn’t have anything against Kendo, she’s very nice, but why? Why did Tetsutetsu have to date her?

Denki doesn’t even realize he’s having a panic attack until he feels someone’s heart beating under his hand. “Jesus christ Sparky. What’s got you all worked up?”

Denki blinks up at the blond boy crouching in front of him. “Bakugou?”

“Yeah. What the fucks going on?”

“It’s nothing. It’s not important.”

Katsuki rolls his eyes. “Like hell it’s not. Spit it out.”

“T-tetsutetsu. He’s dating Kendo.”

The explosive teen raises an eyebrow. “And?”

“And what? You want me to confess my feelings for a guy who’s already in a relationship with someone? Fine! I’m in love with him! I want to be the one getting to hold his hand and kiss him and hold him and-”

“Calm down or you’re going to have another fucking panic attack.”

Denki hadn’t even realized he was hyperventilating again. “So he’s dating knock off ponytail, so what? Just because he is doesn’t mean you can’t tell him how you feel.”

Katsuki holds up a hand at Denki’s protest. “I’m not saying you should have him cheat on her, but who knows. Maybe he’s poly or some shit.” Katsuki notices the funny look Denki is giving him. “What?” 

“What is that?” Denki points at a red string tied to Katsuki’s pinkie that Denki can’t even tell where it ends. Katsuki glances down. “What is what?”

“That string on your finger!”

“What string?”

“You can’t see it? Oh my god maybe I’m insane. Maybe my quirk has ruined my brain. May-”

Katsuki snaps his fingers in front of Denki’s face. The yellow blonde lifts his own right hand in the air. On his wrist is a white string with a severed end. He looks back at Katsuki’s hands. His right hand still has the red string, but his left one has a severed white string. “No way… My grandma was right.”

“Your grandma was right about what?”

“Soulmate strings. She was right about all of it. Red strings for soulmates you still have a chance with, severed white strings that represent broken soulmate relationships. I have a white one and you have one of each!”

“Back up. Fucking soulmates? And your string is broken?”

Denki nods. “Go see if shitty eyelashes’s string is broken too.”

Denki nods again before getting up and running in the direction where he left his friends. As he runs, he notes that Katsuki’s red string goes in the same direction. He finds a nice spot where he can observe his friends, but they can’t see him. With a small smile, he notices that the end of Katsuki’s string is connected to Eijirou’s hand. Eijirou also has another red string on his other hand. His gaze shifts to Mina who’s string is connected to the plain faced boy next to her. Then he dares to look at Tetsutetsu and Kendo. A red string connects the two, but on one hand, Tetsutetsu has a severed white string. Denki’s eyes burn. He’s lost his soulmate.

Denki joins Katsuki in avoiding the hangouts that Tetsutetsu and Kendo come too, knowing it’d be too painful for him to see them together.

Then, Tetsutetsu shows up outside the 1-A dorms when Denki is outside, and confronts him. “Kaminari? Why did you stop coming whenever I’m around?”

Denki looks into Tetsutetsu’s eyes. He takes a risk. “I stopped because it hurts too much to see you and Kendo together. Because I’m in love with you.”

Tetsutetsu’s mouth drops open. “You’re what?”

“I’m in love with you. I don’t expect you to love me back, but you deserve to know.”

The steel quirk user looks away. “I’m sorry Kaminari. I don’t feel the same way.”

Numbly, Denki nods. 

“If you wanted, I would kiss you. I think a kiss can reveal a lot. I would know if we had a chance if we did.”

Surprised, Denki nods. Because he’ll take whatever he can get, even if it’s a pity kiss. Tetsutetsu steps closer and gently cups Denki’s face. He leans down and presses a kiss to the blondes mouth. They stay kissing for another minute before Tetsutetsu pulls away, a guilty look on his face. “I’m sorry Kami. There’s nothing there for me.”

Denki nods, only letting his tears fall once the other boy is out of sight.

It’s been six years since that kiss. Denki is still hopelessly in love with Tetsutetsu. Denki can still see the strings. Katsuki, Eijirou and Izuku have gotten together, Katsuki and Izuku having repaired their string. Izuku can’t see the strings anymore. Kendo and Tetsutetsu are still together.

Then one night, there is a knock on Denki’s apartment door. He opens it to reveal a teary eyed Tetsutetsu. “Can I come in?”

Denki lets him in, still confused. Tetsutetsu explains that he’d walked in on Kendo and Momo. Explains that he can see the strings now. Explains that he’d noticed Kendo pulling away from him over the past year or so, but hadn’t had confirmation until today.  Explains that he’s had feelings for Denki for a few years. “You have?”

“Yeah. I was just slow on the uptake in high school. And, if you still have feelings for me and will let me, I’d love the chance to prove to you that I love you.”

Denki gapes at him. “Sorry, I know you’re probably over me by now-”

Denki interrupts him by placing his hand on his face. “Tetsutetsu, I am still in love with you. I can’t immediately jump into a relationship with you though. We have to take it slow. Act like we’re high schoolers who’ve never dated anyone before.”

Tetsutetsu nods. “I can do that.”

Denki smiles, hands still on the other's face. “Good. Now I know people usually wait until at least the first date, but I wanna kiss you know.”

Tetsutetsu nods and wraps his arms around Denki’s waist, pulling him in. They kiss and it’s everything Denki has wanted it to be since his first year of high school. As they kiss, their strings reattach and slowly turn red.

They’re happy. It’s not perfect, but it’s close enough.

- School dance where awase is avoiding Monoma while also trying to dance with Momo. But in the end monoma dumps a punch bowl on his head

AAAAA STUPID BRAIN!!!

Oh my goodness... this gives me the vibes of the standard chick flick movie where the mean girl tries to humiliate the main girl in front of the love interest... but the gender roles are completely obliterated!

I can imagine that Awase feels so fucking humiliated and unlike the times where he's yelled or beaten Monoma unconscious, he can only just stay silent. Everyone just saw him get drenched in punch and all eyes are on him and he just wants to disappear. Thankfully, everyone has common sense and doesn't find his humiliation funny - unlike Monoma - so other members of Class B go and... physically... set things straight with Monoma (*cough* Kendou *cough*)

The Common Sense Kings quickly come in and get Awase out of that situation to take him to the dorms and help fix him up. Awase doesn't want to go back to the dance but he gets surprised to see Momo at his door. She gently hugs him and apologises for the shit he just went through, he hugs her back and says that he didn't even get to dance with her...

So then she says, "Yosetsu... would you like to dance with me?"

"Wait... right now?"

"Right now."

Awase low-key panics cause it's not how he expected his dance to go, he just changed out of his suit into a common shirt and trousers and Momo is in a beautiful dress, his room isn't really the most common place for a dance but then Tsuburaba pulls out his phone and starts playing romantic music, Kaibara gets some coloured lights from his room and places them up in Awase's while Rin pushed the table, chairs and any random object out of the way to make space for Momo to bring Awase to the floor and take him into her arms.

They danced slowly and just couldn't stop smiling at each other. That night started out terribly... but it ended as one of the best nights of Awase's life.

Honenuki is just finishing up using his quirk on the ground when Tokage shows up and tells him it's time to book it. Then we get a shot of the upper half of her head looking nervously at a very i-didn't-realise-just-how-massive-he-was-until-now Gigantomachia.

Everybody's got their game faces on.

So it looks like they have a bunch of Mineta's sticky balls attached to some string on the ground and Momo is making something I think.

(Edit: She's making the explosives. What a Queen. Bakugou would be proud.)

We got a flash back to Momo explaining how the drug works. Normally you would inject it but they can't really do that for obvious reasons so the or going to administer it orally. One of the canisters contains the right dosage to knock Giganto out so only one of them needs to get it in his mouth.

Mineta is asking if Midnight is ok and I think a piece of my heart just died. Mina tells him it'll be alright and I'm incline to doubt her.

I don't like the way this is framed. She's being to optimistic.

Giganto is still dragging along Mt. Lady and Kamui Woods, who is apparently unconscious(?) cause Lady yells at him to wake up. Unless she's talking about Midnight.

The trap was successful. Giganto got stuck in the liquefied earth and sticky balls. Now let's hope he stays that way.

Oh he's really stuck. Uh I can't tell if these guys are supposed to be heroes or villains.

The attack has been launched. Ibara restrains Giganto with her vines while apologising for dragging him through the mud. What a polite young lady.

We've got Sato, Kendou, and the beast kid trying to force Giganto's mouth open with the sticky ball rope see guys Mineta's quirk isn't useless

Compress tells the others that the UA kids have ambushed them. Toga does not seem please with this development.

OH NO JIROU GOT BURNT. But Shoji, Aoyama, and Ojirou are there to back her up. Kaminari's electric plate things are flying through the air rn.

Wait. What the hell just happened? Did Reiko do that? I didn't see Compress throw anything.

(Edit: She's levitating Denki with her quirk. That's why she's there. This is more for my sake then yours since you probably already figured that out.)

Ok so it was Compress. DENKI IS HURT OH NO OH NO HE'S FALLING SOMEONE HELP HIM-

Every one is making a break for Giganto's mouth and chucking there knock-out drug towards his mouth. Unfortunately for all of them Giganto decides to pull a pro-gamer move and blows them away. Literally.

Dabi's arm is smoking to the point where Toga is asking if he's ok. Like it's really bad. Dabi ignores her concern in favour of explaining why Giganto is so OP. Apparently he has a quirk that allows him to covert energy in to height and a not her quirk that blocks out pain, among other things.

Giganto starts to stand up and the kids start to panic slightly cause the can't get close enough to him because of the fire Dabi made.

My girl Momo has thought of everything. The bottom of the mudpit has explosives that just went off, causing Giganto to sink deeper into the mud. Spinner mentions that Giganto can just dig underground since he'll be faster that way, but Compress is quick to remind him that they will all most certainly suffocate to death if he does that.

Compress explains that the League is actually holding Giganto back since he can't go all out without killing them. Sceptic interrupts by saying now's not the place for chit-chat and, as if to punctuate his point, Giganto gets tackled by Mt. Lady, who I completely forgot about, and is then boarded by a bunch of heroes.

MT. LADY FORCING GIGANTO'S MOUTH OPEN AND MINA WITH HER ACID MAN!!!!

Ignoring the fact that acid is combustible and should have caught on fire just now, I they take him out. I really hope Mina doesn't get hurt in the process.

I feel like, if the hero thing doesn't pan out, Mt. Lady could probably become a comedian. Tho, that's probably just her coping mechanism.

Momo really thought this out. Not sure how they managed to pull all that off in such a short amount of time but I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth.

I'm concerned for Dabi. He's obviously pushing himself too hard.now I just want him to get caught so he can't use his quirk anymore.

I have a feeling Horikoshi's gonna cut back to the Jakku ruins next Chapter cause, you know, suspense and he's always pulling this shit.

MHA-Specific Den Headcanons

If you haven’t seen my previous post explaining what a den is, here’s the link.

Kirishima Eijirou: Kirishima loves his den, and is quite protective over it, though not as violently as other alphas. If someone tells him they like his den, it’ll lift his confidence for a week. If someone he doesn’t consider a packmate comes in, he’ll start growling immediately, but they have a few seconds to escape before he tries to attack them.

Todoroki Shouto: Growing up, his den was the only spot he was sure his father wouldn’t go in, as Endeavour wanted his alpha instincts to be as strong as possible and forcing yourself into a young alpha’s dens can weaken their territorial instincts. As a result, Todoroki has to feel completely comfortable with someone to even entertain the idea of letting them inside, as it is the one place he always feels safe in. Anyone who comes in uninvited will not escape without at least one serious injury.

Iida Tenya: Iida comes from a family of betas, and his parents weren’t very respectful of his den in his childhood; not purposely, of course, but their ignorance of alpha instincts resulted in too many mistakes. As a result, Iida has never felt like his den is his space, which is their entire purpose, and his den instincts are non-existent outside of his ruts, where they’re very weak.

Yaoyorozu Momo: Momo loves decorating her den, her obsession over needing it to look “perfect” rivalling an omega’s nesting instincts in heat. Her territorial instincts are weak enough that anyone she has even remotely positive feelings for can enter, but it’ll destroy her if they say they don’t like her den, whether she’s trying to court them or not.

Shoji Mezo: Shoji is a minimalist, not super concerned with what few belongings he possesses, and his territorial instincts are almost non-existent. He barely ever feels the urge to scent his den outside of rut, and pretty much anyone can walk in without a problem.

Jirou Kyouka: Like Iida, Jirou’s parents are both betas, and that resulted in some errors in her childhood, though not to the degree Iida’s did. Jirou is very self-conscious about her den and how it looks and smells. She isn’t very territorial, but she’ll get flustered whenever someone sees her den and will quickly try to get them out due to embarrassment.

Satou Rikkido: Satou, being the people-pleaser he is, tries to keep his den as pretty as possible for any visitors, and he makes sure to keep his scent of dark chocolate soft outside of his ruts. He doesn’t like letting other alphas inside if they aren’t a close friend of his, but almost any omega and beta can come in without a problem.

Kendou Itsuka: Kendou is pretty relaxed as far as alphas go, but that does not apply to her den. Her cedarwood scent makes the room smell like a sauna constantly, and she’ll fuck up anyone who comes in. Monoma once walked in accidentally, and the event scarred him for life.

Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu: Tetsu fits every stereotype about alphas with their dens. He scents the living hell out of it, will attack anyone who comes in, and will have an emotional breakdown if an omega he’s trying to court says they don’t like it.

Shinsou Hitoshi: Shinsou isn’t too big on scenting, but he is quite territorial over his den. Someone has to have serious friendship points to be allowed in without being told to throw themselves out his window.

Yorashi Inasa: Yorashi loves fresh air, so his den has plenty of windows he keeps open almost constantly. Unfortunately for him, this washes his scent out of the room, forcing him to scent the room daily to have any hope of it smelling enough like him to be satisfying.

Yagi Toshinori | All Might: during his time as a hero, he was too busy to properly set up a den, as he was constantly moving from city to city to fight crime. He’s trying to get back into the habit now that he’s retired, but it’s been so long that he barely remembers how to.

Yamada Hizashi | Present Mic: Hizashi is pretty chill with all of his alpha instincts, and his den is no exception. Outside of his rut, he’s fine with the room only smelling faintly of his chocolate fudge scent. Friends are allowed inside even if he’s not in the room (which is almost unheard of for anyone but mates), and he has to really hate someone to so much as growl at them if they walk in.

Kayama Nemuri | Midnight: Nemuri loves her own scent to a ridiculous degree, and she scents her den constantly. Aizawa once almost passed out from the overwhelming scent of the room once, and he’s had nightmares about how it would smell while she’s in rut.

Takami Keigo | Hawks: Hawks cares more about his den than he’d like to. Thanks to his animalistic quirk, his alpha instincts are stronger than the average alpha’s, and while he wishes he could be more relaxed about his den, he can’t help himself from being as overprotective of it as a stereotypical alpha.

Usagiyama Rumi | Miruko: If someone even takes a peek in her den, they’re as good as dead. It is her space and her space only. She’s never let anyone else inside, as she’s been too focused on her career to even think about courting someone. If she ever lets someone in one day, that’ll be akin to a marriage proposal.

Todoroki Natsuo: When they were kids, Touya built his nest in Natsuo’s closet, as the omega didn’t feel safe sleeping alone in his own room. OchaJirou ( Platonically & Romantically ): Let me tell you about my supreme bias to Soft Girl having a crush on the Punk / Bitter Girl. Or how the Bitter Girl protects the Soft Girl. Not that Uraraka even needs protecting in the first place. These two give me a lot of feels. I love that Uraraka brings out the happier and girly side of Jirou, meanwhile Jirou often calls out Uraraka for feigning happiness for everyone else’s sake. Jirou wanting Uraraka to express when she’s unhappy or upset? Very likely. Their personalities balance each other out very well and the fact that it’s canon that they’re both very close and hang out with Momo often? I’m in love. ( @femine & @dawnscarred  )

MomoJirou ( Platonically & Romantically ): The first girl Jirou has looked up to in the class. Momo inspires Jirou to step up in her grades & to take intiative to put more effort into hero course work. I love their dynamic and how close they are shown to be. The concern they both show for each other often and how they refuse to let anyone talk poorly of the other is one of my favorite things about these two. The class president and the punk rocker trope is definitely up there for me. Jirou putting her life on the line to assure Momo is happy? Absolutely. ( @reflectionbound & @astronomicalmuses​ )

KendoJirou ( Platonically & Romantically ): I do not know where this bias has come from or where it’s going, but I love the idea of these two? Kendou does remind me a lot of Momo, although Kendou is more blunt than Momo. Jirou obviously having crushes on the class representative types is showing. She admires how much inspiration and care Kendou puts into her relationships with her class. 

Mina & Jirou ( Platonically ): This one is more platonic for me, their personalities are a little too different to be romantic in my eyes. Mina is always a wild card and Jirou admires her ability to turn any given situation into a humorous one. Mina’s ability to bounce back from very sad or serious conditions is something Jirou finds herself drawn to. The alien queen brings a lot of energy to their shared friend group. Being the only other girl in the bakusquad the two are always talking and spending time together. I love them. 

Tohru & Jirou ( Platonically ): On par with the feelings like Mina, Jirou thinks Tohru is a great friend to have. The charisma Tohru offers to the girl group is something Jirou appreciates when she herself doesn’t talk often. They can have some pretty in depth conversations.

BnHA Chapter 279: Here Comes the Airplane

Previously on BnHA: Gigantomachia gathered up the rest of the League and headed off to go help Tomura. Also he is now 80 feet tall. The heroes were all, “whoa this guy is really big, we should probably stop him and maybe even devote an entire chapter or two just to that,” and so they sent three whole people after him, which sadly is pretty much the exact sort of strategy I’ve come to expect from them by this point. Anyway so Mt. Lady tried to hold Machia off but kept getting flung aside, and Kamui Woods tried to catch him but was set on fire by Dabi who is just having way too good of a time setting all of the flammable heroes on fire today, and Midnight tried to put him to sleep but Compress threw a bunch of debris at her and so she fell like 80 feet. The chapter ended with Midnight being all “fuck this” and calling Momo, who ordered the rest of the child soldier squad into action as Machia approached. I’m not really sure what they’re gonna do, but I honestly don’t really care, because it’s Momo, and so, YES.

Today on BnHA: U.A.’s first-year hero students, who apparently had nine hours to prepare their battleground instead of the fifteen seconds we had all assumed, launch a complex multi-staged assault which is actually really fucking impressive because these kids are actually awesome. First they pin Machia down in one of Honenuki’s mud pits, and then they take turns making impassioned attempts to take out the other League members chilling out on Machia’s back. Unfortunately none of these attempts work because of Dabi, who’s working overtime while the rest of the League sits around shooting down each other’s escape plans. Basically a lot of stuff gets set on fire, and then the chapter ends with Mt. Lady pinning Machia to the ground while MINA, YES, MINA, charges at him covered in acid like some sort of video game boss that you need some kind of specific item to defeat. DID YOU KNOW YESTERDAY WAS MINA’S BIRTHDAY YOU GUYS. Anyway so this chapter is basically pandemonium from start to finish, and it’s great. It is a RUMPUS, y'all. A STRAIGHT UP HULLABALOO.

anyway, so while I ponder that, Tokage is peeking the top of her head out over the trees and staring at Machia who is, you guessed it, still heading right their way! just like he’s been doing pretty much this entire time
