What are your favorite Beifong family headcanons?

Oooh that's a great ask. I have a lot of headcanons and I'm pretty sure I've talked about them a lot at least a few times, but I've tried to condense them as best I could!

I've rambled about my headcanons surrounding seismic sense but here's some more. The twins and Huan learnt seismic sense very early on in their lives and were provably encouraged to lean into it. Huan particularly has very well developed seismic sense. To the point where it makes him uncomfortable and he tends to shy away from using it by wearing thick socks or shoes.

When Kuvira first arrived to Zaofu, she didn't really get along with Baatar Jr. I can see Baatar Jr being very protective of Opal, since they were the two nonbenders of the family. I can see him not looking too kindly at whom he saw as his mother's attempt at having a "better daughter".

Kuvira and the twins are permanent parts of Suyin's dance troupe. (Canon for Kuvira.)

Due to not having much interaction with people outside the family, the Beifong kids are/were super close. Which leads to even more pain as they slowly untangle and mature.

They were also very close with the staff that worked at the manor and other of their family friends, due to this being their only social interactions outside family. Aiwei and the Chef (he only calls himself chef and never reveals his real name cause he used to be a pirate and is wanted in all four nations) are basically surrogate uncles to the kids.

It having been just the six of them, i can see it being hard for them to fully interact with new people.

Huan wanted to be a doctor as a kid and pretended to do operations on his siblings. Their father, a renown architect, even built them a little play hospital. The other Beifongs... weren't fans.

Kuvira enjoys bubble baths. That's it.

Wei collects crystals and cool looking rocks, similairly to how Su collects meteors. He's a nerd about it too. He has several opals and whenever he's in an argument with Opal he will dramatically move them to the back of his collection.

One of my fave silly headcanons/theories is Baatar Sr being Suki and Sokka's kid. Like, I know it's very unlikely, but it is a lovely idea in my head and I could ramble about it all day. I don't see a lot of people talking about it. I see plenty of people using Suyin's sons looking like Sokka as proof that Su is a Tokka baby, however the Beifong boys actually resemble their father a lot. Also I have plenty headcanons around this idea and Suki would be an epic grandma. Kyoshi warrior Opal (and the twins). Living in my head rent free. Forever.

Wing and Opal formed a little book club and like reading together/talking about books they've read. Their siblings aren't allowed to join. One time Kuvira and Wei crashed the little meeting and Wing was so offended he pretended to run away and join the circus.

When they were children, Kuvira was the ringleader for sure. She'd take the much more well behaved Beifong kids on wild adventures, after which they'd come back to the house covered in mud.

Wing is hard if hearing. Comes from that one scene where he sent Lin and Su to their deaths after misshearing Mako.

Aiwei was the first one to encourage Huan to pursue his artistic talents and most of Huan's first works are still in Aiwei's house.

Wei is named after Aiwei, but they already had a Juniour in the family, so he was named an abbreviation of his namesake.

Aiwei ultimately regrets betraying the Beifongs, to teh point where his nightmares in the Fog of Lost souls are about the Beifongs.

Can't believe Zaheer sent the only confirmed gay man ever shown on screen to super hell. Homophobia at its finest

I can see her getting this extreme tunnel vision where she cant see all the progress shes made, all the victories shes already had, and instead can only focus on how shes not doing enough, and its not fast enough, and its not good enough. it just really reminds me of how badly she wants to prove herself to be this strong and trustworthy hero, but she feels like shes losing herself as she grows and isolates herself more and more in the role of guardian and ladybug.

"one word from you and i would jump off of this ledge im on" is exactly how he operates with her, being ready to throw himself in front of her, literally die for her if she ever said so. and she never does! she gets upset with him for doing it over and over! i just think this song depicts really well how chat noirs goal was always "do whatever I can to help ladybug, no matter what i may lose" while she had to watch him leave his life in her hands like it was nothing.

Ultimately it makes me think of chat turning to marinette for such deep and intimate comfort that purely comes from him being with her. just knowing hes safe to hold onto her and cry and shell be that company for him. Everything's got a price.

It was a Friday evening and the weekend awaited you but you didn't want to begin it without your traditional start. A strawberry and chocolate sauce crepe with a warm cup of hot chocolate with the marshmallows on top melted to the perfect consistency from Rex's cafe and a visit to Qui Gon's corner bookshop.

You were lost in between the bookshelves after having devoured your treats to peruse through sci-fi stories when as you pulled for it, someone else had reached out to do the same. He was dressed in an fitted brown sweater that matched the bronze of his hair. His beard well kept that you almost thought he was an author himself. His blue eyes found yours as you stepped away all too suddenly feeling quite shy.

"Sorry I was taken aback by the cover.", you smile.

"It's very pretty is it not?", he asked but he wasn't looking at the book, his eyes roamed your face.

"I'm not familiar with the author.", you tell him, averting your gaze back to the summary as a way to hide a blush on your cheeks.

"A compelling story though, might make a good weekend read.", you continued.

"Oh yes. It's about wizards and laser swords set in space.", he added to your conversation as you nodded along.

"Well it's gotten your stamp of approval. It has convinced me to buy it.", you look up at him, your eyes registering his features when you realised he did look familiar.

"Forgive me, have we met before?", you squeeze yours brows together holding the book against your chest when he pursued his lips.

"I would have definitely remembered.", he said and it was difficult to differentiate if he was paying you a compliment, if he was just nice or if he was flirting with you.

"Is this your first time here?", you ask determined to figure out where you had met him.

"I came here a lot as a teenager.", he shuffled his feet.

"My father owned this establishment soon after he took me under his wing.", he had a kind smile almost as if he was reminiscing along with you.

"But this is my first time revisiting this old place with my son.", he looked about the shop that held its own identity and vintage quality and behind his legs hid a tiny figure.

You draw nearer to him, a name at the tip of your tongue. Qui Gon was a gentle soul, a vibrant part of the community and he had helped you during a tough time in your life when he let you work as the cashier here. He mentioned his son often and you wondered how someone could be so perfect.

His eyes widened registering the lessened space between you and him. But it also looked like he was hiding a secret.

"It starts with an O, doesn't it?", you snap your finger trying your best to recollect.

"What does?", his back hit the shelf behind him softly as you step closer.

"Your name.", you whispered as you looked away.

A new author was supposed to visit, one who was well known and had a book signing here on Saturday. You tapped your fingers against the book that you held. When it struck you. You held the book in front of you and there it was, his name on the cover. You noticed his anxious gulp when your eyes narrowed down on his.

"You're Obi -

He placed his hand over your mouth, to shush you.

"Yes, yes you've got me.", he whispered but all you could concentrate on was his smooth skin and the smell of his cologne reminding you of forest berries.

He gestured to know if he could be certain you wouldn't scream when you looked at the little boy who stood behind him quietly. You nodded and he tentatively removed his hand from your mouth.

"I've finally found a corner of respite. I ... we would like it to remain that way.", he sniffed folding his arms smiling at his son when a mischievous smile spread across your face.

"Everything's got a price.", you mimicked his stance to which he narrowed his eyes.

"Fine. What's your request?", he asked.

You took a moment to think of a dare for him to do, something that could be silly. You caught sight of his son when he gave you a shy smile and the idea hit you.

"Write me in as a character in your next book.", you smiled and a moment later he did too.

"How do you feel about being a love interest?", he asked quietly, his eyes glimmering with interest.

"All depends on the character I'm supposed to love.", you prop up shoulders and walk beside him to hear his laugh.

"Coffee?", he glanced back at you and you couldn't help but believe in fate in this second.

"I know just the place.", you tell him as his little boy padded along next to him as you unraveled your umbrella outside the store to help them with their anonymity which he had noticed.

Maybe this was fate.

Maybe this was every book lover's fantasy.

But it had found you.

They go out on coffee runs and just talk, they meet up every so often to catch up, talk about how Lea and the kids are and how Radiant Garden is coming together again and yes the flowers here are so nice and I understand why you would want to live here and I Just! oh my god....... this is so hard bc i am a Fashion Girlie. but i digress. have some gpoys as well to showcase the Fits bc i am Proud of Them

the first is this cropped sweatshirt that says practice safe hex. i love her. SO much. i study witchcraft (one day ill practice. one day.) and i think this shirt is so funny and the and when fall hits? im a menace this is all i wear. (bonus shoutout to the patterned jeans in that pic bc they'd probably be my fourth pick for this list i LOVE those jeans.)

second is this brown corduroy skirt!! this is a more recent addition to my closet (i think i got it like last year?) and i wear it all the time. it is sitting on my bed to be put away from the wash rn. it's so cute and simple and goes with so many different things. ive got this outfit i really like to do with it (but no pics of the full thing unfortch) i call my shaggy fit where i wear this with like a lil green tank top sweater combo and its SUCH a cute winter/fall fit. (also this picture peeps one of my weeb tattoos so enjoy xx)

third and finally i cannot believe this is the best picture i have of this stupid thing (censored the face and an identifying landmark in the background LKNFKNSFLKNR) BUT this lil plaid overshirt? i have had that thing since i was literally... 13. so like 12 years and i STILL wear it ALLLLLL of the time. showing my arms makes me Uncomfy so this thing is a lifesaver. and i also wear a lot of plain black clothing so if smth needs a lil spice? ya just throw this bad boy on. plain black dress? plaid overshirt. lil romper? plaid overshirt. plain t-shirt? plaid overshirt. she's everything to me.

OH BOY OH BOY okay so two of these are like. staples to my wardrobe and the other one is. just for fun!

so the first one - my best friend handmade this for my birthday. this is my very own clown collar!!!!!! katie lore drop incoming - i am obsessed with clowns. i have a clown collection and a clown tattoo. so of course when she went to knit me smth she made me this!! i have not had the occasion to wear it but. im manifesting it soon (i will say she gave me this While i was dressed as a clown)

the second picture is of my class rings. (don't worry they've been heavily censored i'm not doxxing myself <3) the lighting is terrible and they also. don't leave my hands so the gems are grody as hell but the gems are blue zircon (my brother and mother's birthstone) and amethyst. im not even like. very proud of being an alumni from my schools but they remind me how hard i fought and all i learned to be where i am today and honestly. i love a ring! i love a ring moment and i wish i wore more so. class rings stick around.

and FINALLY. oh Boy oh Boy. i can talk about this thing for hours. this is my backpack. it is Covered in pins and keychains (spot all my special interests in there....... so many things....) and i take it Everywhere with me. this is actually the Third iteration of this backpack - i had a black backpack that all these pins were on (it broke tragically), then his white backpack had different pins, and now we've moved the black backpack pins onto the white backpack. im a bag enthusiast and a pin collector (i have so many pins....... so many) so i have multiple bags with pins all over them but. these pins are my faves.

1. INTO THE DREAM by William Sleator = It involves prescient dreams, telekinesis, UFOs, and the most terrifying of all things: ferris wheels! (Yes, I've had weird nightmares about ferris wheels my whole life, which is probably why I was first attracted to this book!) I got this book in 5th or 6th grade, and I reread it every few years when I need some shivers down my spine!

2. LORETTA MASON POTTS by Mary Chase = This creepy book, once again with a smart, quiet boy as viewpoint character, involves a long-lost unremembered sister, a secret passage in a closet, a palace, and an enchanted bridge (and has great illustrations like the one on this cover.) I loved this book and reread the library's copy over and over as a kid (and finally got my own copy!)

3. THE ALL-OF-A-KIND FAMILY series by Sydney Taylor = The series is about a Jewish family of 5 girls (thus all-of-a-kind, though at the end of the first book a baby boy is born) living in NYC in the 1910s. Although my personality is probably more like Ella or Sarah, my fave was always Henny, who was rambunctious and got in lots of trouble. I loved all the details of old-time New York AND all the Jewish holidays that were celebrated.

4. ABOUT THE B'NAI BAGELS by E.L. Konigsberg = It’s a fun book about a boy studying for his Bar Mitzvah while dealing with his mom managing his Little League baseball team, but at its core it’s about the heartbreak of losing a best friend. “Great pains make great heroes, but toothaches just make lousy batting averages.”

5. GAUDY NIGHT by Dorothy L. Sayers = This is a mystery novel set in Oxford in the 1930s; it's the 3rd in a series of 4 novels involving the romance between detective Lord Peter Wimsey and author Harriet Vane (though this one is primarily from Harriet's pov). I just reread this last week, having just got back from Oxford so I wanted to read it while the city layout was still fresh in my mind.

6. DIED ON A RAINY SUNDAY by Joan Aiken is a British thriller about a young mother dealing with creepy household help and lots of chilling rain. After checking it out from my school library, I left it lying around the house and came back to find my mom reading it and unwilling to put it down! We ended up sitting side by side on our floor heater, reading the page-turning finale together, and I’ve reread it many times since.

7. LONESOME DOVE by Larry McMurtry = My mom tried to get me to watch this Western miniseries but I simply couldn’t get into it. A few years later I stumbled upon the middle of the series and got totally addicted. I got the book and ended up reading its 945 pages three times back to back...while living in London! I remember riding the tube home, sobbing as I read the final pages, and then flipping to the front and starting it again, something I’ve never done with any other book.

8. MAURICE by E.M Forster = This story about homosexual love during Edwardian times wasn’t published until after Forster’s death, and the book demonstrates the pain of having to hide one’s true self from the world. “For during the long struggle he had forgotten what Love is, and sought not happiness...but repose.”

9. All 4 DRAMA! books by Paul Ruditis = The high school narrator in this series is gay, “But don’t worry. This isn’t one of those angst-filled books where I’m struggling to come to terms with what it all means. I’ve long since accepted it. I’m gay. I’m over it.” These books are a fun, snarky take on musical theatre, with a play as the title for every chapter and lots of musical references. These are the books I read when I’m doing a show and need a reminder that there’s always chaos backstage in every theatrical production (though I've never done a quadruple-cast show where the leads keep getting taken out!) A large portion of the 4th book takes place at the Ren Faire (and the narrator spends most of his time in the stocks because he keeps using anachronistic devices like a cell phone!) Just a warning, though--the end of the 4th book sets it up for an awesome 5th book, but the series was canceled, so don't go looking for it! But there's closure for the important stuff so you're fine! 😁

And sure thing! When it comes to otome, I tend to prefer games that are more plot focused and have strong overarching plots. I also enjoy darker/heavier content, i.e. action, violence and blood, psychological elements–which all sums up why I am so obsessed with Virche haha

But for my recs (which have English localizations):

1. Collar x Malice

I actually consider Collar x Malice my top favourite otome game! It’s a modern crime thriller with an interesting overarching plot, great cast, action, violence, and it makes you think about what justice means to you. It also has my fave otome antagonist of all time. I swear to god, he straight up altered my brain chemicals 😂 this whole game altered my brain chemicals because it made me fall in love with twisted, tragic “romance” (pls play the FD) and bittersweet “good” endings (there was only one like this, but oh man, it hurt me bad). This is the only game aside from Virche where I genuinely love all the LIs and thoroughly enjoyed all the routes. It has a special place in my heart and I definitely recommend it

2. Café Enchanté

Café Enchanté has the same main writer as Virche (and you can tell!!). It’s notorious for looking like a fluffy, slice-of-life from the cover, but once you get into the thick of the plot—OH BOY, the crazy revelations and pain hit hard 😂 I personally loved the drastic tonal shifts. Definitely recommend if you liked the type of writing in Virche

3. Code:Realize

I personally consider this the “objectively” best otome I’ve played so far. It might not be my personal top fave, but it’s the top game I recommend to anyone wanting to get into or play more otome. The plot, the lore, the world building, the characters, their interactions, the romance—it’s all so well developed and put together. It’s a popular one, and I agree it deserves the praise it receives

4. Nightshade

While it doesn’t have the deepest overall plot, I really enjoyed this game because of its strong characters and that it doesn’t shy away from tragedy. Characters who love each other have to fight each other, betray each other, and leave each other because that’s their way of life. All of them have to FIGHT for their happy ending, and most of the time, it comes with a heavy cost. Also, Gekkamaru’s one of my top fave LIs ever. Gekkamaru, if you’re out there… @ me 🤙
