#and it was hard to find these in good quality

I'd also like to add for Horizon, specifically, they could use procedural textures for 99% of the robots and facilities and it would run leaner and look better, even on PS4/5 - get a good metal shader, a couple good flow shaders, and your base could be a single 7f7f7f pixel and the robot would look every bit as good. Likely don't even need displacement or other fancy layers - but instead they're sending 4k by 4k textures with dozens of mip maps that are spectacularly large given the percentage of pixels that ever factor into the actual display, even at 4k.
One thing there is NVidia, specifically, replaces shaders with less detailed ones, simplifies textures, etc. - this is what game ready means - and then on top of that, is going to use AI to synthesize lower quality frames to keep up rates. But I think the big issue is that they've been covering hard for optimization in the drivers - which means if I am a large company, rather than pay a programmer to optimize a shader, I can just use unoptimized garbage, and NVidia will find it and fix it
And tools like Unreal Engine and Unity often don't help - you go into the asset store and pull down a random texture, and it likely is not optimized. You feed them a PNG, and they likely don't optimize even that without third party add ones.
Another thing driving this is in engine cut scenes. Civ 7, as an example, has a massive, multiple minute video that everyone is going to skip after the first time. I've not checked files on it, but Civ 5 and 6 put OVER 20 COPIES of the video file, versus just using separate audio tracks for each supported language. And installs all of those files all of the time, with them also not using a particularly good codec.
If you're releasing in multiple languages, package them as free DLC, if you're not packaging different regional packages. This lets people not install gigs of audio they're never going to hear.
this is a controversial opinion and I’m not a gamer but I don’t need my graphics to be that good. I don’t need to see every individual feather on a bird. my poor computer doesn’t deserve to carry that weight either.

Joker's kid! Reader and their hair adventures
Route: recovered dove
Masterlist | previous part | next part (coming soon)
Author's note: I finally did it! All the requests about Joker's kid and their hair journey are here! Hope I`ve done good enough ;3 This week was valentines Day. I know I'm late for it, bu I hope it went well for you ^-^
Warnings: Grammar (as usual), psychological trauma, triggers

Adjusting to the manor, getting alone with family, building friendship with Chlory, and attending therapy : all of those things improved your mental health greatly. On one of your session your therapist brought up the idea that you should find a healthy way to express yourself, as any kid should try at least, that you can experiment and showing your personality through your appearance, and to find your own style and after soke thought you decided to give it a shot.
You could try to wear colorful clothes, but you liked dark color scheme that you've seen your family (except Dick) preferred to wear and which you also picked up , besides every time you see purple and green clothes you feel uncomfortable. As for the style of clothes, you liked them relaxed comfortable and soft, so your style,.if you could say so, was exactly that, relaxed. The thought of body modifications went straight out of a window, you had enough of experiments on your body and enough experience with syringes your body for now. Makeup was.. to hard, you were still adjusting holding crayons, what to say about brushed. Besides, makeup had so many things and rules, styles that you didn't really catch up with. And so you decided that you should try to dye your hair. You knew you would NEVER dye your hair green! You don't want to have anything connected to the nightmare of your life anymore. But you remember your mom had tips of her hair colored, one of which was pink.
So you did some research on how to dye hair, types of dyes, techniques, and all the things. Although you had some vague memories of how your biological father dyed your hair, you can remember how the process was painful, you remember your mom told you that when she dyed her hair it, didn't hurt. A few times, she was able to dye your hair instead of Joker. She did so without hurt. Maybe this memory also made you more inclined to dye your hair. Maybe this way, you would still have some connection to her. Back to your new perception of hair dye, it wasn't that hard since you caught up on chemical reaction in the root of the process quickly. After reading about different types of hair dyes and different ingredients in them, you found one that was a good choice for you. The problem was how to get them.
Although you already brought up the idea of dyeing your hair to Alfred, you did not introduce your dad to the idea, and you had no idea how Bruce would react. And although Alfred was supportive of your idea (he was happy to know you found a courage to express yoursekf and joked that he would be happy too see something bright and not dangerous at the same time in the manor) you were not sure of Bruce.
You told him about you wanting to try dye your hair on the way to your therapy session. Although he knew you had a decision about it with therapy, he was still surprised to hear it. He gently asked you for your reasoning, and to your surprise on the way back, he took you to buy few hair dyes that was good quality and safe (he did all necessaryr esearch while waiting you) and haircare products which was good quality and suited for dyed hair. After Alfred helped you cut your hair in style you wanted, you began the process of hair coloring. You diligently followed instructions, coloring your strands in the right order, trying not to mess anything up. After you washed excessive dye and dryed your hair, you got your result. Your hair was pink, but not as bright as you thought (you knew about hair bleach, but you decided not to risk it), but you loved it. It was a cute color and a bit peachy.
Chlory, who was first to see you, couldn't contain her amazement repeating cute and loud "I am Chlory" over and over. The second who saw you, was Damian, who heard how loud Chlory and instantly went to check on you, hoping that you are okay (thought he would never admit it), and when he entered your room he was startled. He remembers you having your natural color of hair, one which he was used to, so seeing you with new hair color was .... surprising. He had to stare at you for a few seconds until you turned to look at him questionably
- Are you trying to make a statement? - he asked, a sharper than intended
- uh - you hesitated - no? Why?
- your hair ... it's different.. interesting. - he said, staring a few more seconds and walking away, leaving you confused.
Your family learned about your adventure soon enough, and all of them were accepting. While Jason was more surprised (silently praying it wasn't connected to the rebel phase (he had one so bad, and he was concerned for yours would be worse)). Dick was happy to know you started expressing yourself. He showered you with praises, saying how adorable you were, and you really were since you seemed more happy now and helped you do various hairstyles. For him, your cuteness went higher up, and his awe with you went to new levels. He also was happy to discuss with you what hair color you should try next. As for Tim, he was the one who notced that now you opened your obsession, connected to having all color's of hair dyes possible (except green), and he kinda enables it, showing you new tones and limited collections, leading to your bathroom becoming filled with dyes. You seem happy, so he is happy for you.
As your pink hair began to fade, you decided to go with the next color your mom had in her hair - blue. And, at first, it seemed fine. Sure, color turned out to be more turquoise than on the label, but it was fine. What you didn't expect is for color of your hair to wash out so quickly and suddenly. At first, you thought nothing of it. But one evening after the shower, when you saw yourself in the mirror, you saw green in your hair. It suddenly was hard and painful to breathe. Your heart hurt your ribs. The bathroom seemed to get smaller. You couldn't tear your eyes away. You swear you heard him. You couldn't move. You couldn't run or hide.
You skipping dinner made family worried. And they all decided to check on you to find you sobbing hard, breaking down. Jason and Tim were the first ones to get what was wrong and what triggered you... green in your hair. While Bruce and Dick helped you calm down, they exchanged a quick conversation, which led you to the moment: once you calmed down they acted instantly, knowing you don't need trigger (and they too), so here you were, sitting on the floor of Tim's bathroom with him next to you, and Jason on the edge of the bath . Tim is showing you blue hair dye, which fades to purple while instantly sending Dick to buy it, and Jason prepares your hair for the next coloring. You three spend the entire evening together (as a squad of kids who were danaged by Joker) working on your hair and leading it back to blue, and also talking lots. After that, and other's returning from patrol an emergency movie night was arranged starring yout favorite documentary, and while Bruce fall asleep holding you, few others went soon, leaving you and Damian to have a good and long discussion about film.
Your hair journey went on, featuring all the colors (even black for the connection with bats), different haircuts, hair dyeing done by all family, and more happy memories. You took the roud and you've certainly liked it

Astro notes ~ part 2
Venus in Aries women tend to be called not feminine enough and could be criticised for the way they move or speak. “Not feminine enough” is something they likely heard at least a few times.
Earth Ascendants tend to put too much pressure on themselves and value responsibility. They may come off as cold and unapproachable without meaning too. They dislike or look down on chaotic and unreliable people.
Sun in Pisces are some of the most trustworthy and kind people I’ve ever met. They are sensible, thoughtful and make great friends.
Sun in Aquarius could be both clingy and distant. It really depends on the person in question and their current emotional well-being. They are known to struggle with recognising or processing their own feelings. The higher manifestation of this placement might actually spend more time by themselves as they realise this is what they truly need or they might just become more independent in general. It’s a funny thing with Aquarius. It’s when they are most chill and just doing their own thing that they attract the most attention. If they try too hard to keep a relationship, they almost always lose it. It mostly could be related to a shaky self of self-identity.
Saturn in 3rd house could bring difficulties in communication. Either you stumble over your words, speak too much or too little or just feel like you cannot find common conversation topics with other people. You are responsible, sometimes to your detriment, as it could lead to a false sense of expectation of what other people should do or be like. You love deeply and have a few select people you pour all your love into and would do anything for. Could mean you are a little rigid and definitely don’t like sharing personal stuff.
Moon in Capricorn: when will you stop denying and over-rationalising your own feelings? Being vulnerable and expressing your feelings is not a weakness as society seems to want to teach us. It takes an enormous amount of courage and strength. It’s about being your authentic self with all of its gifts and imperfections. It will not make you exploitable or create unnecessary drama/conflict. But rather it will open your eyes to truths that may currently be hidden from you. In any relationship, especially personal, emotional compatibility is essential. If you keep being polite and inauthentic you’ll never feel truly fulfilled or find the people who are right for you.
Also, stop being so hard on yourself for every little detail. Allowing yourself to relax and take a break once in a while is important for your mental, emotional and physical well-being. It may also enable you to see different situations more clearly.
Mercury in Virgo: you are amazingly patient and definitely notice the “smaller print”. You might be good at making diagrams, charts, tables. You probably don’t make mistakes when doing calculations and might have a real affinity for the exact sciences. You know how to explain things in simple, concrete and very understandable terms. You know lots of things and are very willing to share them with others. Careful not to come off as a know-it-all and watch out for your nit-picking tendencies.
Neptune in 1st house: is actually a quite interesting placement. People probably tend to project on you a lot. They might have completely false ideas about you and believe them with conviction even when you consistently convince them otherwise. Be very attentive of those you surround yourself with! Sometimes the kindest acts hide the darkest pits of hell.
This placement gives a charming, sometimes ethereal appearance to the individual. There is a charming quality to the way you carry yourself, the manner in which you express your ideas. People could have hidden fantasies about you or idolise you.
Sagittarius Ascendant: talkative, sort of daring personality. If you don’t have many friends, the then you at least have a large circle of acquaintances. You like expressing your ideas, sometimes just to stir the waters. You’re up for fun and spontaneous activities. You like creative people. In social settings you tend to “fly” from one group of people to another as you enjoy exchanging news, ideas, impressions with other people. You may not understand why some earth ascendants like keeping silent. It’s not that they don’t want to talk to you or are angry with you, social situations probably stress them out and they don’t like having their routine interrupted. That’s something to take into consideration.
Also, try not arguing with people just for the sake of proving your point every time. Choose your battles wisely.
Gemini Ascendants: are the real masters of social situations. It’s not mentioned nearly enough just how good they can be at picking up on social cues. They might wisely not show it or even mention it later on, but you can be damn sure they didn’t miss a thing. Also, they are very flexible/adaptable communication wise. If you have a more subdued way of communication they’ll talk more softly and encouragingly. If you are loud and enthusiastic they will try appearing that way as well.
They pick up on the vibes of a room: main relationships between people, primary personality traits, attitudes, if someone has social anxiety etc. They probably also know about secret enemies and crushes but will pretend not to.
Look out for mind games and subtle shows of cunning from them. For example: if you are a heterosexual woman having a secret crush on a heterosexual man and he picks up on it, they might subtly do something to make you feel jealous. Or more blatantly. They could talk to almost every other woman in the classroom but ignore you. Or start talking very pleasantly with you girl friend while you are around etc.
I like associating this placement with the Scandinavian God, Loki, the trickster. They are definitely the type of people that test both the spirit and composure of others. Not always, but there is this tendency, without a doubt.
They might also subtly look down on those who are shy/find it hard to express themselves.
Moon in 8th house never truly gets over a crush. They don’t fall in love easily but once they do you’ll forever remain in their heart. If you leave never to meet them again then you’ll be one of the spirits in the “graveyard” of their souls, ever present and never to be completely forgotten. They are people who are authentic and love with incredible depth and intensity. Once you become their person, they would do anything to make you feel understood and loved. Could have difficulties letting go or accepting rejection.

This is getting old.
Entertainment should not be an end unto itself. What is entertainment? What does it cause? Answer those and then you can try and answer why it should be an "end unto itself..." though I think by doing so, you'll find that, by defining it, it cannot be an "end unto itself."
Who said anything about play?
I think you'll find the answer to "why is leaving the world as it is a problem exactly?" in exactly the same place as the answer to the question "what is entertainment and what does it cause--and then what entertainment can be "solely an end unto itself?"
Just because stories are "there" doesn't mean they're good "stories."
I'm having a hard time taking seriously the musings of somebody who throws out firm statements as if they're true...about something they've never read themselves. But anyway: it doesn't matter if a story is "loved." That has nothing to do with whether or not is is high-quality—unless you would like to make your own personal definition of a story include the qualifier "must be loved."
This one's just miscommunication, so let me clear it up: "Theme" is an unclear word, but I definitely meant, "the story's Main Point."
I've already cleared up the equally-unhelpful phrase "death of the author" both in an edit and in previous reblog. I agree that what is said in the story is what matters: insofar as the responsibility of the storyteller to the audience is in what is said, not what is meant. What is meant is a responsibility to someone else entirely, because an audience has much less sure ways of inferring what is "meant" apart from what is "said." Not "no ways." Just "much less sure" ways.
To sum up for what feels like the thousandth time: Storytelling is compelling communication. Communication is as wonderful as it is dangerous. Words matter, and the speaker is responsible for them. Stories matter, and the storyteller is responsible for what they say in their story.
Go look up how mirror neurons work and then tell me that storytellers are justified in using their skillset to distract people from truth and reality and goodness, in a world that needs constant reminders of them.
Some Things I Believe About Stories
Stories should not be PRIMARILY created to entertain. They should be created to teach, or encourage, or inspire, USING entertaining qualities. The Romans used entertainment to distract the populace from corruption. J. R. R. Tolkien, on the other hand, described "escapism" as "a prisoner of war escaping from enemy camp to go back home." You're not running from reality to fantasy when a story does it's job. You're running from the dark, twisted side of the world to something that reminds you of the good, the true, the beautiful, the correct. You've been imprisoned by bad ideas and confusion and dark perspectives, and the story shows you how to escape and get back to true and beautiful reality. It's got a point, it's not just for diversion.
Stories should be made to serve others and leave the world better than they found it. Storytellers should not only tell a story to exorcize their personal demons or point to how clever and artistic they are. That can be a nice bonus. But the point should be to serve the audience. Think about it. When it's made, it's timeless; it will be read or watched or listened to by the next generation, or the next. What are the storytellers letting fall into the hands of the people who come after they're not around to explain or gain a profit?
The storyteller should be passionate about the story while they make it. This could look like a sense of duty, or fun, or just excitement. But those outward emotions usually signal an inward understanding of how important the story is, and therefore, a level of compassion and care for the eventual audience.
You can like a story or dislike a story. You can interpret a story or misinterpret a story. Those things are subjective. But whether or not a story is good is objective: it can be measured. Does the story say what it is trying to say in the clearest, most compelling way possible? If yes, it's a good story. If no, it might be great entertainment. It might be funny. It might be cool. It might be quotable or franchise-able or profitable or even memorable. But it's not a good story if it does not say something in the clearest, most compelling way possible.
A story's main point, or theme, is the most important thing about it. The characters, the set design, the pacing, the soundtrack, the language, the use of color or lighting or blocking etc.; all of those pieces work best when they are unified in the goal of communicating that main point or theme.
Death of the author = death of the story. It's point is to say something. If you claim the speaker's intent is meaningless, so are the words spoken. If you claim it can mean anything, your words are meaningless too. We all might as well tell no stories and blabber gibberish instead. It’s one thing to say you understand what the author intended, and you like to think of it in/wish it were another way. But it’s quite another to say that what the author intended is unknowable or doesn’t matter. You’re either calling the author a bad storyteller or, again, recommending we all speak gibberish.
Both form (the quality of the story and it's elements) and content (the main point or lessons) matter. Without one you have a lecture, not a story. Without the other you have entertainment, but no valuable, timeless, beautiful truth to make it a “story.”
#People like to reblog this once with their thoughts and then glide away like they've refuted it#it's getting old#don't get me started#storytelling#long post#discourse

Writing Notes: Love Bombing
Love Bombing - a manipulation tactic a new partner will employ to attract a lover through lavish gifts, excessive attention, and extreme validation.
Signs of Love Bombing
The red flags below represent common signs of love bombing:
Love bombers constantly check in. A love bomber will send many texts to find out where you are when you are apart. This lack of healthy relationship boundaries should signal this person is not a genuine partner.
Love bombers gaslight partners. When you bring up relationship difficulties later on, the love-bombing partner will try to tell you how good they were to you at the start. This red flag is an effort to make you forget about their misgivings.
Love bombers get too close too fast. Romance can be a rush, but more often, it is a slow simmer as two people grow to know and respect each another. A love bomber, however, will dive right in to attract a new partner. They expect you to spend all your time together, which can register as possessive.
Love bombers lavish you with gifts. A love bomber will give you flashy and expensive gifts. These might not be personal; you should note whether the gift they are giving you is something you even like or said you liked, as often it will only be a gesture but not something personalized to your style and liking.
The love-bombing partner will turn on the other person and emotionally abuse them.
Love bombers are often narcissists and less capable than others of experiencing empathy. They aim to maintain power over others in new relationships, which they do via emotional abuse.
This behavior can quickly lead to an unhealthy, toxic relationship.
Love bombing can be complex for people to grasp because, at first, the relationship seems like a fairy tale.
Even from the first date, the love bomber might offer expensive gifts and insist on spending quality time together. This can seem promising, but warning signs will show this person is not a soulmate.
Grand gestures will transform into cruel words and emotional abuse, proving the validation has been a ruse.
The lured-in person might feel confused and hold onto fonder memories, making it hard to leave their partner, who might have a narcissistic personality disorder.
Dangers of Love Bombing
Love bombing can quickly lead to a cycle of abuse.
You might think, even at the beginning of a relationship, you have found “the one” because that person treasures you and makes falling in love feel simple.
Over time, however, that person will become more irritable and pick at your insecurities while simultaneously reminding you of all the good things they’ve done for you.
Even when you experience low self-esteem, the love bomber will make it seem like they are the only one who can care for you.
This can warp your sense of a healthy relationship and make it harder to break up with the person as you might fear them.
Love bombing can also impact your mental health and cause you to normalize abusive behavior.
Examples of Love Bombing
The following scenarios are examples of love bombing:
A boundary-less relationship: You’ve been dating someone who loves to touch you, even in public. You find it cute but sometimes boundary-breaking. Your partner flips out and becomes belligerent when someone else tries to touch you. You feel this person is not really caring for you but instead being possessive of you.
An impersonal relationship: You meet someone who whisks you off for a romantic weekend away. You feel like you are in heaven, but you also notice this person does not ask you personal questions or care about your passions, hobbies, or friends. While this person showers you with gifts, they also start to get moody and blame you for their issues and setbacks.
A rushed relationship: You meet someone online who immediately says you are the best-looking person they’ve ever seen. They insist on meeting as soon as possible and treat you to a nice meal. They then insist you see each other regularly and, over time, begin to put you down and make fun of some of your features or qualities.
How to Avoid Love Bombing
It is essential to know the signs of love bombing to avoid being a victim. Consider the following tips if you feel your new partner might be love-bombing you:
Ask about the person’s past relationships. If the love bomber calls previous partners “crazy” or says, “They were so obsessed with me,” it might very well be a sign your new partner is repeating past behavior.
Discuss your relationship with trusted friends. Voice your relationship concerns to friends and family members if you have doubts. They might articulate concerns, which you should take to heart. Love bombers condition partners to prioritize them, so this process can be challenging. Moving away from this negative energy will ultimately be healing.
Remember your self-worth. You must maintain an independent self in your romantic relationships. If you feel your new partner is taking advantage of you or not valuing your self-respect, it will be time to leave that relationship.

What's Your Body Trying To Tell You?
This is meant to be a fun, general reading, so it may not resonate with everyone. Take what resonates for you and leave the rest behind! Please take a moment to breathe, focus on your intuition, and choose the photo that calls to you. Each holds a unique message for you!

𐙚 • 𝑃𝑖𝑙𝑒 1
Your body is likely telling you to embrace balance and self-care, suggesting that you've been through a lot of emotional or physical challenges that may have left you feeling drained or out of touch with yourself. It seems that you're being encouraged to find a calm and harmonious approach to life, and to take care of both your mental and physical health. Perhaps there's a need to cultivate patience and moderation in your daily routines and habits, especially if you’ve been pushing yourself too hard or dealing with stress in unhealthy ways.
The message also points toward a deep inner strength that you might not be fully recognizing. Your body may be signaling that you have the resilience to handle difficult situations, but it's essential to take a gentle approach rather than force things or overexert yourself. This could be a reminder that healing, whether emotional or physical, takes time, and pushing past your limits can lead to burnout.
There’s also an indication that you may need to reflect on how your relationships and personal connections are affecting your well-being. The dynamics in your life could be either lifting you up or causing you to feel disappointed or emotionally drained. The importance of connection is clear, but it also suggests that being in relationships that don’t serve you or leave you feeling unfulfilled could be taking a toll on your health. The message is to assess the quality of the relationships you're nurturing and ensure that they contribute positively to your emotional state.
Finally, the appearance of satisfaction and abundance in certain areas of your life signals that your body may be reminding you to enjoy the pleasures and successes you've achieved. However, it's also urging you to let go of past regrets or disappointments that may still weigh on you. Letting go of what no longer serves you, whether it's emotional baggage or unhealthy habits, will allow you to create space for greater joy and personal growth.
─ ⋅ ⋅ ⋅ ──── ♡ ─── ⋅ ⋅ ⋅ ──
𐙚 • 𝑃𝑖𝑙𝑒 2
Your body is likely telling you that you've been under a lot of pressure and may be carrying a heavy burden, especially in areas where you've felt a lack of control or stability. It seems like there may have been significant emotional or physical pain, possibly from a difficult situation or series of events, and your body is urging you to find a way to regain order and structure in your life. The message here suggests that you need to take charge of your health, not by being rigid or overly controlling, but by establishing healthy boundaries and creating a more balanced, empowered approach to how you deal with challenges.
There's also a strong indication that your body is asking you to confront any lingering feelings of exhaustion or emotional exhaustion that may be causing you to disconnect from the joy in life. You may have experienced recent setbacks or disappointments that have left you feeling drained, and the message is to reflect on what you’ve been through and release what no longer serves you. Your body might be telling you that it's time to acknowledge past pain, let it go, and move forward with a more grounded sense of purpose.
The theme of community and connection is also present, suggesting that nurturing positive relationships with others could be a source of healing and support. Your body might be encouraging you to surround yourself with people who lift you up, rather than isolating yourself or dwelling on feelings of dissatisfaction. The message seems to be that your physical and emotional health will benefit from collaboration and celebrating the good things in life with others, finding joy in shared experiences.
Lastly, your body might be urging you to take a more honest and logical approach to your own well-being, seeking clarity and fairness in how you treat yourself. It’s a reminder to make decisions based on a sense of balance and fairness, ensuring that your health and happiness are prioritized. This could also be a call to pay attention to your mental health and take steps toward understanding and resolving any inner conflicts or uncertainties that might be affecting your physical state.
─ ⋅ ⋅ ⋅ ──── ♡ ─── ⋅ ⋅ ⋅ ──
𐙚 • 𝑃𝑖𝑙𝑒 3
Your body is trying to communicate a need for deep nurturing and rejuvenation. There's a strong message of self-care and connection with your own natural rhythms, as if your body is calling for you to prioritize rest, nourishment, and relaxation. It might be telling you that you’ve been too focused on external demands or other people’s needs, and now it's time to honor your own well-being. You’re being encouraged to take time for yourself to replenish your energy and restore your physical and emotional health, possibly through self-care practices that bring you peace and comfort.
There seems to be a transformation underway, suggesting that your body is undergoing or will soon undergo a significant change. This change may be related to how you perceive your own health or how you’ve been living, possibly pointing to a need to let go of old habits or ways of thinking that no longer serve you. It could be a sign that you're ready to leave behind past struggles or limiting patterns and embrace a new chapter of growth and vitality. This shift might feel intense but is ultimately necessary for your overall well-being.
Your body is also telling you to move with intention and purpose. There’s a sense of speed and momentum here, suggesting that positive changes could come quickly if you take action. However, this doesn’t mean rushing—rather, it points to embracing the flow of life and being open to new opportunities that may come your way. The message seems to be that you need to trust in the timing of things and allow yourself to move forward with clarity and confidence.
Lastly, there’s an element of emotional fulfillment and healing. Your body might be urging you to focus on creating harmony and joy in your life, especially in your emotional and relational spheres. You’re being reminded that your emotional health is just as important as your physical health, and that true healing comes from aligning both. This could also be a message of hope and optimism, indicating that no matter how difficult things may seem, there is light ahead, and you have the ability to restore balance and find fulfillment in your life again.

Helloo~ I love reading all your headcanons because I feel like they're very accurate and fun. Similar to the Ayato ask but any Headcanons on the type of girl Shuu would like, pshycially and personality.

Shu’s Type Headcanons
shu wouldn’t like someone that’s his complete opposite
he prefers a fair balance of opposite and similar - or even if she had just a handful of similarities, it’s enough
he needs someone who likes relaxing with him as well
someone he can enjoy comfortable silences and beautiful music with
soft, fluffy curly hair would kill him.
he likes long, soft, flowy hair that smells like fruits and flowers that he can bury his face into and use as his personal curtain
but at the same it would become a nuisance if her hair kept getting stuck/pulled while they cuddled and she complained about it. plus, short hair would give free access to her beautiful neck
in terms of bodies, he likes petite, short women because they look cute, innocent and frail
tall and elegant women because they seem poised and gentle, seeming soft-spoken and not noisy, causing less of a disturbance to him
curvy women because they’re warm and soft; the perfect pillow to him (bonus points if they smell good) and he gets to make lewd remarks about their blessed assets
he really doesn’t care that much
soft clothes in soothing colors like pastels and dark shades are appreciated. hates eyesore colors like neons and if his lover were to be a fan of them, they’re sure to hear a few unamused remarks every so often
you see the amount of times soft is mentioned here? yeah he’s basically shopping for a human pillow
but shu really likes girls with big, bright, curious eyes. someone adventurous or bubbly would feel like a golden retriever to him; he would find them quite amusing and loveable
he doesnt mind a girl with a lot of energy; so long as she can also be content pumping the breaks to wind down and share headphones with him while they cuddle wherever he pulls her
he actually might prefer a s/o who can balance his nonchalance. someone expressive and empathetic; someone who talks a lot and would want to tell him lots of cute interesting things
he might not have the most compelling replies; but that doesnt mean he’s not interested, he’s just not one for talking much.
just knowing that she cares so much. that her perfect evening would be spending time with him.
he obviously would ‘complain’ about how noisy she is, but she wouldn’t be able see the faintest, soft smile he grows on his face with his eyes closed as she tells him about what happened in her class that night not knowing that she’s already told him this once before
speaking of, he would likely prefer someone with a melodious voice. Deep or soft and calm. He would have trouble adjusting to something with a loud or pitchy voice. In that case maybe he would prefer their quiet times more ^^;
if his girl knows how to play (the ‘good’) instruments, it would be amazing. maybe not so much for her because of how many times he would ask her to play-
after much begging, shu might even be so kind as to agree to have a duet with her (how romantic)
despite shu not being that picky with what kind of girl he’d be attracted to, he still has a few absolute donts
girls who are stuck up or snooty, with a superiority complex. the ones who care way too much about being perfect and proper: he would just get brought back to his aristocratic family. the one he’s trying to get away from constantly.
he just doesn’t like girls who are vain or egoistic. he finds them annoying
shu would really admire a girl who’s honest. someone who wouldn’t change her opinion based on whether or not others agreed. someone brave who would stand their ground to support their beliefs
that quality kind of also translates into loyalty
shu has a hard enough time as is allowing himself to connect to anyone, fearing he’ll lose them. if he does finally start to warm up to someone, it would kill him inside if they betrayed him.

One of the things I remind myself of often is that people believe they are inherently good. If you believe you are good, people can convince you to do any evil and you will see it as just, because you are good, you can't be bad. That is wrong, to be good is to make decisions that like you said help others, and to do so repeatedly, but good can't be judged fairly, not by society, by you, or anyone.
Society isn't perfect so it can't deem who is good. People are not perfect so they will deem good people to be those that agree with them, or they like, or believe are better and more just then them. Almost everyone will assume they're good, right, and just, and those that don't will imagine people who they think are better than them. But good is a complicated thing, and what someone deems good is not always such.
Still, being a helpful person takes effort, time, being self critical, and trying to be in control of your actions, your emotions, and your ego. Its having the ability to know when to apologise and when to fight. You will never know if you're good, nobody else will either, such is the enigma, but, try anyway, not to be good but to help. You should help people, that's it, no reason is needed. If you love helping people, if you feel obligated, if help is being guided by a different emotion that's fine, but don't let it control your reasoning. Be the help someone needs, don't let good or love or anything else guide you, it can be there, but it can cloud your reasoning. You should help for the sake of helping. People might say you're good, you're just, you're awesome, but their perception is as fallible as anyone else. So help, worry about what you can do, what you are able to do.
Trying to be good can be endlessly meaningless, trying to be helpful isn't.
Edit: I would also like to mention, I am aromantic. There are many good think pieces about on love being said in the community, especially the loveless aro community. Love is an emotion, it isn't just, it isn't an undeniable truth. Love has no moral value, and people who don't love at all can always help regardless of the feeling. To love doesn't mean to be helpful, to be doing good things. Love doesn't indicate character, worth, or anything above. Just like how beauty and ugliness are all individual beliefs, beauty isn't indicative of greatness, and ugliness isn't low quality. Those are attributes you pick based on how you view the thing you find beautiful or ugly. And such is the same that rich doesn't mean hard working and poor doesn't mean lazy.
I always say, binary thinking is false, the world is always a spectrum, and when you know that, you will find truth there.
#i may still be wrong here but again that is to be human maybe you will see this an tell me a different way to see things#something stronger to me that I can make important in my way of life#or maybe you will say something and I will disagree such is life

In Search of the Answer
JayVik fic // 1.4k
——————————
They'd been at it for hours. This one fucking equation. It stared at them—no—taunted them with its illusory simplicity. Viktor slouched in his seat, his glazed eyes scanning it over once more, as if the 41st time would make a difference. As if, suddenly, the answer would spring out from the board before his very eyes. Infuriating.
A piece of chalk whizzed past his ear and hit the board, breaking on impact and crumbling to the floor. Viktor swung his head around, blinking hard at the immediate dizziness as he joked, "That wasn't very dignified of you, Golden Boy."
Jayce pretended to gag as he walked up to the left of Viktor and leaned back against one of their worktables. He chuckled, "Ew, no, don't call me that, please."
"Pfft, why not? It is your title, is it not?" Viktor teased.
"Yeaah," Jayce said, crossing his arms as he stared back at the board, "but it's weird when you say it. It's weird when anyone says it, honestly, but especially you."
"Well then, what would you rather I call you?"
"I don't know." He shrugged. "Jayce? Anything other than Golden Boy, really."
Viktor could have let it go. He could have called him any benign, clever insult, something to just provoke a bark of laughter and maybe a quick quip in return. But the day had been so monotonous and he was so tired; his third cup of coffee had barely done anything. He was tired, they were bored, and the goddamn equation was not going to be solved anytime soon.
So he decided to play. Viktor slung an arm over the back of his chair, fixing his gaze on Jayce with a tilt of his head and a smirk.
"Okay....pretty boy."
That got his attention. Jayce's eyes widened and his head swiveled back and forth between the equation and Viktor. Gaping, he struggled to find his voice, "Wh-what?"
Viktor shrugged. "What?"
Jayce tugged at the hair on the back of his head as he stammered, "Why-uh, um, why would you call me that?"
"It's an accurate descriptor, is it not? You are pretty," he replied, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. He couldn't help but take delight in Jayce's flustered appearance.
"What? N-No, I'm not."
"Yes. You are. With your hair and your skin and your eyelashes—"
"My eyelashes?"
Viktor nodded. "Yes, your eyelashes."
"My eyelashes."
"Have I suddenly switched into another language?" Viktor was just being an ass at this point.
Jayce tried to fight back. "How in Piltover are my eyelashes pretty?"
He failed.
"They're long and luscious," Viktor answered, a smug grin fixed on his face. Jayce cackled, shaking his head in disbelief. "And you bat them. Often," he added.
"I do not!"
Viktor waved his hand, clearing the air of Jayce's protest. "Yes you do, whenever you want to get your way—which is often—you bat your eyelashes."
"You..." Jayce growled in mock irritation, "you asshole, you're messing with me."
"I'm not messing with you!...pretty boy."
Jayce stammered through a series of frustrated sounds before declaring, "You can't say that!"
Now things were getting good. Viktor lifted his head off his arm, intrigued. "And why not?"
"Because...because between the two of us, you're the pretty boy!" Jayce shot back, as if he'd won. As if he hadn't played right into Viktor's hand.
"Aw, you think I'm pretty?" Viktor teased, tousling his own hair.
Jayce kept fighting, aware he was losing ground quickly but unwilling to give up. "Well-I-uh, it-it's a fact! Everyone knows that!"
Viktor mocked astonishment. "Really?"
"Y-Yes! Really! It's uh one of your top qualities."
"My top qualities? And what would those be?"
"You know...uh...smart, yeah, very smart. Um, ingenious. Uh...witty...compassionate, persistent...funny...dedicated...."
Jayce slowed down, caught in Viktor's gaze.
Viktor's grin softened. "And...pretty?"
"...y-yeah...it's...among those."
"Hm. Interesting," Viktor murmured.
Jayce squirmed, stammering, "W-Well now your top quality is just being creepy, stop...stop staring at me."
Viktor shrugged. "Okay." Grabbing his cane, he stood and walked up to the board. He dropped the game and engrossed himself back into the equation, chalk in hand.
Losing Viktor's gaze, however, was like losing the air in his lungs; Jayce was left breathless.
He stared after him, observing the way Viktor's hand hovered over the board, as if that stance would somehow cause the equation's answer to come to him faster. Jayce found it far too endearing. He scrubbed a hand over his face before hanging his head and calling out weakly, "ahh fuck...Hey Vik. Since I'm already saying a bunch of weird stuff.....you can keep staring at me.....if you want."
Viktor stayed facing the board for a moment, just long enough for surprise to flash across his face. He fixed his countenance into something more coy before turning around and walking up to Jayce. What he couldn't hide, however, was the pink tinge ghosting his cheeks.
"I do want," he cooed, "Like I said, you have pretty eyelashes."
The air had shifted, they both felt it. Jayce let him approach. His eyes dropped and he gripped the table behind him. Viktor didn't get too close, allowing them breathing room as he noticed the change in Jayce. When he spoke again, his words were low and tender:
"Am I making you nervous, Jayce?"
He let out a breathy laugh, still unable to look at Viktor. "Nervous? What? P-Please, you're my partner..."
"You didn't answer my question," he murmured.
"What do I have to be nervous about?"
"I don't know. You tell me."
"I...um..." He swallowed his words. How could he tell Viktor that he was like the night's constellations, guiding Jayce through the dark. That his face was what Jayce saw every time he looked into the hexcore. What string of words could he put together to explain what he himself barely knew but felt blazing through his body every moment of every day.
"It's okay, Jayce," Viktor spoke, soft as starlight, "Whatever it is."
"I can't," he blurted, "I don't want to uh..."
Viktor leaned back. His skin prickled. Maybe he'd gone too far. "Don't want to what?"
Jayce crossed his arms tight against his chest as he mumbled, "I don't want to make you uncomfortable."
Ah, there it was. Viktor smiled and assured him, "Jayce you don't need to worry about that. I'm made of tough stuff."
“Yeah,” Jayce agreed, Viktor’s smile tugging one out of him as well, "Yeah, you really are."
“So?”
"So…so sometimes I wonder...what it would feel like...to hold your hand,” he admitted.
"Well,” Viktor said as he leaned in a bit, “you are a man of science. You want to know something, what do you do?" He held out his left hand towards Jayce, palm up. "Run an experiment."
Jayce stared at the offering. He uncrossed his arms and took Viktor’s hand in his with the delicacy he usually reserved for fine tuning their hextech. He found himself entranced by their joined hands, unable to look away.
The cold of Viktor’s hand sent chills running through Jayce. He could feel the soft silk of chalk dust that always coated Viktor’s fingers, causing him to leave white fingerprints wherever he went. Jayce wondered, if he let go, would he find chalk prints left on his skin?
"Jayce.”
He lifted his eyes. Viktor was much closer now. When had he moved? How long had Jayce been staring at their hands, mesmerized by the latticework of veins under Viktor’s pale skin?
“What is your analysis?” Viktor murmured.
He took in a shaky breath, his voice small, “I um…I like it. This, I-I like this. Your hand is…soft.”
Jayce was so warm—his eyes, his voice, his hands. He was slowly melting Viktor, and he didn’t even know it.
“I like this too,” Viktor admitted in a whisper.
“Vik?”
“Yes, Jayce?”
Finally, things started to click, the numbers adding up, the pieces coming together. Of course. The answer had been there the whole time.
“I um…I think that I—”
“Eighty-five!” Viktor exclaimed, squeezing Jayce’s hand.
“Wh-what?” Jayce stammered, watching as Viktor suddenly let him go and raced back to the board.
“It’s fucking eighty-five!” Viktor shouted. He scrawled the answer in chalk before turning to goggle at Jayce.
Jayce’s face dropped. “But if that’s eighty-five, that means…”
“…that all of section B needs to be reworked,” Viktor groaned, “Ugh, I’ll get more coffee.”
He walked out of their workplace, leaving Jayce alone with the chalkboard. He looked down at his hand. Five smudges of chalk dust decorated his palm, like meteors streaking across the sky.

You’re right, Dally’s “Little Brother” is evocative of gospel, especially with the choral call and response behind him, and maybe they could have handled casting Dally’s role differently to avoid unrealistic depictions of racial struggles in the south in 1967.
However, gospel is not the only genre with overwhelming roots in the black community. I can provide you with links to great sources about how blues, rock, and jazz originated in these communities just as gospel did, but refuting my example of “Runs In the Family” by saying that “the song itself isn’t even good” and “there’s no real meat” when I provided several examples of the history behind the genres the song takes inspiration from doesn’t change the fact that the song is blues and jazz inspired (based on the stylistic qualities pointed out) and those genres originated in Southern African American communities and their unique historical struggles just like gospel did.
Additionally, to your point that the music as a whole doesn’t fit, blues, bluegrass, gospel, rock, jazz, folk— all the genres that this show takes inspiration from didn’t just magically disappear from Oklahoma when the Beatles and Elvis became popular. In reality, these genres are still alive, popular, and thriving in the South today. Before the Beatles and Elvis came onto the scene in the 60s, these kids would have been hearing jazz on the radio, gospel at church, witnessing the birth of rock on television.
Speaking of Elvis, even if the musical were to incorporate his style, the songs would still be deeply steeped in black history. The reason why there was such outcry to his popularity during this era was because it was seen as “black music” to older white audiences. In fact, he stole a lot of music from black musicians such as the original blues tune “Hound Dog” sang and popularized first by Willie Mae Thornton, a black woman. And though it was written by two white men, the song is faithful to the blues style created by black Americans. It has the AAB lyrical format, call and response lyrics, it has the walking bass and swung eighths, and the themes of woes and hard times.
If anything, the music these boys would have been listening to would have had even STRONGER African Americans roots and styles than the musical offers us because the Outsiders Musical is also a musical and many of the songs, including Dally’s “Little Brother” retain heavy stylistic elements of the musical theater genre which do not have the same strong African American roots as these other genres I’ve mentioned.
I think you make great points about how the musical leaves stuff to be improved upon with Dally’s character portrayal. I also think that you’re right, we have had no indication that Dally would have enjoyed gospel and to say that he does based on his race alone is to make a racist assumption.
However I find it hard to believe that as a black man in the 1960s he would not have been at least exposed to gospel. Communities from the South to the North were more segregated than today, and gospel music thrived in the churches of black communities across the country. It was a large part of the civil rights movement which he lived through, and even growing up in New York as the book said he did, he likely would have been exposed to that music.
However Dally’s final song being heavily evocative of gospel does not mean that he ENJOYS gospel.
Gospel is great, gospel can evoke boundless joy, but gospel can also express incredible sorrow and depict struggles unique to the racism and oppression faced by African Americans like “Go Down” which ties Moses’ pleas to the Pharaoh during Exodus and the similar pleas for freedom enslaved African Americans had.
“Little Brother” is in many ways similar to these gospel songs. It is a song of sorrow with a heavy thematic nods to oppression and, in this case being what the greasers experience as an unwelcome minority in the community. It is a position Dally would have known all too well as a black man in the South and one that gospel music has frequently touched on. To me, if the gospel in Dally’s song was the only African American thematic influence in the music, I would definitely be sounding the alarms, but it’s not. This is not to say that the way Dally is written as a CHARACTER is not problematic. Your comments have made me curious to look more into this and educate myself. But from a musical standpoint the ENTIRE score draws from genres that are steeped in black history and accomplishment.
what. what do you mean that people are upset that gone with the wind was changed in the musical adaptation. huh.
