i would say i can't believe i saw someone saying 'if you don't like rap you're racist' on tumblr yesterday but i absolutely can bc it's exactly the kind of brain dead take you get on here from time to time

#personal crap #they were saying if you don't like it it's because you don't like music by poc #which ok. ig liking stuff by beyonce rihanna willow seal living colour and fever 333 (just off the top of my head) counts for nothing to yo #also don't fucking kid me that rap is all poc-fronted as if embarassing white rap hasn't been just as prevalent as rap by poc since the 90s #the real problem is that poc in rock don't have it as good as white people in rap frankly #i actually do like a little bit of rap (mostly old stuff like run dmc or salt and pepa)#but it doesn't usually click with me bc the emphasis isn't usually on the instrumentation #and instrumentation is really core to what i love with music lyrics are usually complementary #plus i don't vibe with singing types like it and screamo #i think some other styles of predominantly black singing like gospel and soul are gorgeous but not really rap #sorry this has been an overlong ramble about my tastes in music
