what do you think varians ex wife would be like ( I have seen fics where they make claudia and soren part elf and varians wife hid the fact she was an moonshadow elf) in fiction they have a character who acts as a parallel/foil to another character like older gen to younger gen maybe viren will be that to callum (ezran inherited harrows looks and his ability to talk with animals and viren always thought of harrow as his brother callum is ezrans half brother and callumXrayla seemtobehappening

Personally, I like Jesse Inocalla’s interpretation of the brodegies’ mom; a strong, athletic warrior woman. Picture a young, nerdy Viren watching this glorious warrior take down a few of the kingdom’s best soldiers and being like, “This women could break me in half and I’d thank her.” It’s an entertaining thought, at least. What’s even better is that she’s confirmed to have come from Del Bar which seems to be heavily based on Nordic culture; she could be a shield maiden!!! (Wait, is Amaya technically a shield maiden?)

I guess the moonshadow elf thing would be an interesting twist...but it’s probably not gonna be a thing in the show. Hell, they probably won’t even add in brodegie momma period because of how insignificant her role is in the grand scheme of things. A tragedy really...I was looking forward to seeing he reunite with Soren and Claudia, finding out about the shit Viren put her babies through, then storming his cell block just to beat some sense into his whithering gray ass. Oh well...

This might be an unpopular opinion, however I don’t believe Viren and Callum have any solid parallels. Callum is imaginative, clever, and open minded. Viren is clever sure, but also rigid, and closed off from outside opinions. In an alternate universe where Callum becomes a dark magician or Viren doesn’t go evil on everyone, they could have been very much alike; I can totally see them geeking out over finding a rare magical creature or learning a new spell. Ezran is similar to Harrow, yeah, but I think it’s important not to think he is Harrow; the same with his relationships. The reason Harrow was upset with Viren claiming to think of him as a brother was because the sorcerer was assuming he and the king were on the same level in regards to their status and influence in the kingdom. Callum and Ezran don’t have that power imbalance; no matter what, Callum is Ez’s big brother, there is no assuming, no power imbalance, nor miscommunication in any of it. Thus, the Viren/Harrow and Callum/Ezran dynamics are incomparable.

I know character parallels, especially between the main protagonist and antagonist, are fun details to add in a story. However, they’re also a little overdone and take away the unique qualities that make these characters who they are as individuals. Callum could have become evil, but that wouldn’t make him into a mini Viren; no, just a dark magic Callum. Conversely, if Viren hadn’t gone dark mage he still wouldn’t be like Callum, because he’s Viren! Ezran shares a few traits with his father, but that doesn’t make him Harrow; Harrow inherited the kingdom when he was an adult, after being prepared to take on that responsibility. Ez doesn’t have that, so he’s going to make different decisions than Harrow when it comes to ruling Katolis. And Rayla? Rayla is no one’s parallel. She’s the wild card that brought the young princes out of their cozy kingdom and into an adventure! My point is, we shouldn’t be reaching for parallels, but appreciating each character for who they are individually and understanding that their choices are in fact their own.
