The Safe House - Part 2

It’s around 2am when a car’s headlights beam through the front windows of the main cabin, the sound of tires on the gravel driveway. 

Luigi.

I’ve been waiting hours for him to show up. Relying on the oven clock to keep track of time, since Ben decided having my phone was forbidden.

I peek out the window. The headlights illuminate the fat flakes of snow coming down. The car turns off, and he steps out.. I move to the front door and step out onto the porch. He’s walking up the path, his backpack slung over one shoulder, head down, looking like hell. 

He looks up and sees me, and his eyes brighten. 

“No fucking way,” he says, stopping in his tracks.

I crossed my arms over my chest, leaning against the doorframe. “What?”

His breath comes out in a huff, a little cloud of white in the cold. “You’re here.”

I nodded. “Been here for a couple weeks. Ben showed up a few days ago.”

He takes the icy steps up slowly, boots heavy on the wooden porch. I stepped back to let him inside, and when he crossed the threshold, the warmth of the house hit him all at once.

His exhaustion was more than physical on him, it seemed existential. The way he moved, the tightness in his back, shoulders, jaw. I’d seen him tired before, but this was different. He seemed so wrecked, he circled back into ‘high strung’ territory. I closed the door behind him, shutting out the snow and the dark.

“Here,” I said, grabbing a bottle of water from the counter and twisting the cap off before handing it to him. 

He takes it without a word and drinks half of it immediately, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. He gives me the bottle back, “sorry.” He says, taking off his jacket.

“Don’t be.” I say, already turning around, “let me warm you up some baked ziti.”

“You don’t have to–”

“I want to.” That shuts him up. I gesture towards the island, where he slowly crawls onto a barstool, watching intently as the ziti spins in the microwave. 

I put the plate in front of him, he picks up the fork but doesn’t start eating right away. He looks at it for a second, like he has to remember how to sit down and eat like a person again. Then he takes a bite, and I watch his whole body react to it.

“Jesus Christ,” he mutters. He eats faster, like he doesn’t trust the food to still be here if he doesn’t get to it first.  “I havent had hot food in like a month” he says between bites.

I nod, resting my arms on the counter across from him. “Yeah, you look like shit.”

His mouth twitches like he wants to smirk, but doesnt quite get there. “Thanks”

His hair is a little longer than usual. He hasn’t had it cut since the summer. It’s hopelessly curly and disheveled in the best way.. His nose and ears are red from the cold. I watch him eat, and I see the tension in his shoulders start to relax.

I don’t want to bring it up, but I’m too curious, “Ben didn’t say where you’ve been the past 3 months.”

He doesnt look up. Keeps eating. “Thats because he didnt know.”

When he was done, he set the fork down and exhaled, closing his eyes for a second like he was savoring the feeling of a full stomach.

“Thank you,” he said, and his voice was softer now, more like him.

“Yeah,” I said. “Of course.”

He ran a hand through his hair, scratching the back of his head. “I’m gonna sit down.”

He walks over to the couch near the fireplace, dropping onto the cushions with a sigh. He bends to untie his boots, peeling them off one at a time, setting them aside before stretching out, letting his head rest against the back of the couch.

I hesitate for a second before following, settling into the opposite end of the couch.

The fire crackles and pops. The lamp casting warm soft shaddows across the walls. Luigi is slowly melting into the couch as the silence stretches between us. It isn’t awkward. 

Then, he turns his head to me, his eyelids a bit heavy with exhaustion, but hes smiling. He scans me for a second, “you look good.”

I blink, caught offguard. “I.. what?”

He must find my reaction funny, cause he bites his lip, “you look good.” he repeats.

I can’t help but smile, “thank you, lu.” the time apart has been better to me than him, for sure.

He’s drifting, I can tell. His blinking getting slower, and he’s absorbing the fire’s heat like a cat.

He doesn’t look dangerous like this. At all. He looks tired, and warm, and real. But I know what he’s capable of. And it freaks me out, but turns me on.

Eventually, his breathing slows. His eyes slip closed, and his lips pout. And i know i shouldnt stay here. I should go up to my room. But  I don’t move. I let myself relax against the couch, feeling the strange feeling of safety Luigi bleeds off.

We fall asleep like that, at opposite ends, the space between us smaller than it used to be.

It was the beginning of December, the first snow had fallen in England by now. It was cold enough to keep a fire going all day and into the night, and that's just what was happening at the house. All the boys were home except for Razzle, who would be home shortly after running to the store (everyone had drawn straws because the fridge was empty and no one wanted to go out). The tv was on downstairs, along with the festive string lights that were wrapped along the railing and the fire, it was the only light on. Everyone was quietly sitting or lying around, for once the house was peaceful. Razzle came through the door with a case of beer and grocery bags and the place lit up. His cockney accented holler echoed through the house, and almost like dominos, everyone started to yell and cheer. You rolled out of bed, dragging yourself through the hallway and down the stairs. Razz was still standing by the door, smiling widely when he saw you.

"Hello, love! I'm back!" You smiled back at him with tired eyes, stepping down the stairs and walking to hug him. His clothes held in the cold air, his shoulder felt cool against your face.

"You're cold!"

"Yes, I am, it's real fuckin' crisp out there." he nodded. You took one of the bags from his hands, Andy took another and the three of you walked to the kitchen. You set the bag down, Razzle and everyone else started shifting through them, taking out the contents and opening cans.

"I think I'm gonna go back to bed..." Razz looked at you slightly shocked.

"You sure, love?" He asked in a caring voice. You nodded, smiling genuinely. He reciprocated your nod and pulled you into another bear hug that lasted minutes. The others were still clawing at the groceries like hyenas. You let go of the hug and started walking towards the stairs, and realized he was following behind you. You turned around and tilted your head at him.

"What? I'm coming too." He chuckled. You smiled at his sweetness and walked up the stairs, waving goodnight to the boys. Raz grabbed you from behind and carried you to the bed, shutting the door of your shared bedroom. He lifted the covers up and motioned for you to get under them. Soon you were both deep under layers of blankets, wrapped up in each other. You laid your head on his chest and snuggled into him while he gently kissed the top of your head and played with the ends of your hair. After a while the both of you started to nod off, after you watched shaddows pass your closed door, the chatter from downstairs subside, and lights shut off gradually, you fell asleep to the sound of Razzle's heartbeat.

First of all, your drawing is BEAUTIFUL!! Breathtaking in so many ways, gosh

But let's get started:

The main components of the picture are, obvi, Sunny and human Sides

Sunny is standing, back turned, in the light while Sides is sitting alone in the dark.

They are disconnected in man ways, besides the obvious reborn- as- a- human- thing

1. The railing (marked yellow) is literary separating them

2. Sunstreaker is standing in the light while Sides is sitting in the shaddows

-> Sides doesn't know what is missing and is literally "kept in the dark"

-> Sunstreaker DOES know and is the one standing in the light, which is simbolic for knowledge/ clearance etc.

The lighting in general is very interesting. It could either be a sun set or sun rise. Both have fitting simbolism

1. A sun set can symbolize endings. And well, in a way their brotherhood ended. Sideswipe died

2. A sun rise however is simbolic for a new beginning, which is this in a way too

Sunnies back being turned away can mean that he doesn't recognize this person as his brother (idk the lore of your AU, though I'd love to!!) or he simply hasn't realized he is yet

Howeverrrr though they are apart, both carry something of the others color with them

-> Sunny a red cloth around his sword

-> Sides has yellow shoes ties

They are still connected even though they apart

NOW to the birb part

So, most birds are flying around, EXCEPT for two

They are sitting on a wire together.

Birds simbolize stuff like freedom and are known to fly around and thus are able to change their situation

They however stick together, close, kind of left behind, like their Cybertronian& human counterparts, who are both standing/ sitting alone, which can also be interpreted that they are unable to move on from eachother

They BOTH can't let go of that wire (lyrics refrence hehe)

I'd like to think the birds are maybe like their inner feelings/ souls in a way (?)

They are still together, even though things are different now

Hope I hit at least one nail on the head with my guesses

Anyways, I'm a sucker for good simbolism and also listened to Two Birds while writing this lol

you are very correct on all of these, but to add onto the two birds on the wire, i drew them as a sort of foreshadowing that theyll eventually be together again, like you said,, however if you listen to the song, the lyrics are about one bird flying away and leaving the other.

so then you realise.. Sunny is a cybertronian while Sides is a human. and human lifespans are just one blink compared to cybertronians', so to me, the birds (and song) symbolise the inevitable end; that they'll reunite and then be separated again.

hope i explained that well :P i just love this song and the twins so much ehehehehe

Im going to try and do @sarjakuvakeskus Sarjakuu challenge!

First day: Light and Shaddow.

I wanted to create two characters that will appear through this challenge! And since the theme of first day was light and shaddow, i wanted to make characters that seem polar opposites, but complement each other!

Light; Is Helle who is a alien kind of thing that landed on earth in a meteor.

Shaddow: Is Nova, who is serious kid, who loves space very very much!

Despite the differences they have, they become friends and also relate on things like: missing family! Novas mom is an austronaut who is in a space mission. And Helle misses their siblings in space :(

My Tiana's bayou adventure fix

I was looking forward for the ride retheme. In my opinion it had a lot of potential. Disney posted the POV of the disney world ride today and there is some impressive animatronics especially tiana, louie and Mama Odie and i really like the shrink down portion besides the screens(wish it was at least 2d animation but unfortunally 3d animation for 2d characters seems to be the normal for the company it is even in fantasy springs). Unfortunally there is a lot of dead space where there is only plants. I think Disney should see if they could dress the set up better where there is only plants. But the ride also lacks conflict. Here how i would fix it:

Bring back the shadow man. I know the ride is post movie i'm not actually talking about Dr. Faciller. I'm talking about his friends on the other side. They could try to take us leading to the drop while singing a version of friends on the other side especially the "Are you reaaady?" Part. Until we can escape in the drop.

The shaddows appear on the movie and have very interessing visuals

In fact they chase Tiana Naveen and their friends in the swamp in the movie and that is what im proposing they do during the ride.

This could also help with the empty scenes before in the attraction shaddows would start to acting up at first subtle than becoming worse during the attraction until they full reveal their intent Mama Odie could then make us small to escape their first attempt.

Leading to the big drop the neon visuals from friends on the other side would start and we could incorporate some of the doctor faciller masks and visuals too like the Green magic.

Tiana could warn us before that there were dark forces in the swamp to prepare us before hand maybe to have a justification for the Bayou "mountain" it could be implied that the "friends on the other side" and Mama Odie are fighting each other with their magic and affecting the enviroment around them to justify the modifications in the Bayou. (Mama Odie transformed Juju into a bunch of different animals if i remember not always on purpose and something kinda similar happened on the fight between Merlin and Madame Mim)

For my intervention we would need projection mapping for the shaddows, more set pieces, small lights to simulate the fireflies in other parts of the ride to have more things, more simple animatronics like the bandmates, record some new voice lines for Tiana, Louie and Mama Odie, record some voice lines for the friends on the other side, record/remix a new version of friends on the other side and some brand new animatronics of the friends on the other side masks and maybe reajust some of the animation on Tiana animatronic face( but we have empty spaces to add lines to her maybe with a bit of creativity and more set dressing maybe put her own shadow at some point to represent her we could get away without touching the animatronics already there maybe)

later that night after nova and valdederon lay down in a warm volcanic and fall asleep a dak presance enters valdederons mind cakiling in the shaddows of his darker memories. valdederon steps up walking around in his own mind.

{mysteryious evil entity}-- your memories are interesting outsider youve irked me with your willful interference of my plans.. the goblins in the dungeon with the 2 demons.. that damenable magmar and that riolu. that little brat is a threat to me and my plans.. and so are you. but if you.

valdederon looks around in the dream scape only seeing a pair of deep bright and blood red eyes darting around and a deep evil presence radiating from its direction like radiation from a nuclear blast site.

valdederon-- i dont know who or what you are but i can garuntee ill continue beeing a thorn in your side. your not a demon id sense it if you were but your evil perhaps even more evil then most demons hell makes me regret my rampage back in my previous life. ive got blood on my hands possibly even innocent blood. but ill be damed if i let my family suffer, give your worst creature if you are the cause of novas kidnapping youve probably seen first hand the depths of my rage and my power.

[soft female voice]---- i havent much time young valdederon. human turned pokemon listen carefuly. that darkness you spoke with was a verry evil mew from another realm paralell to this one his name is ibirumyuu . he has poisened the legendaries this world is in ruines due to that the dungeons and the disasters and even magic its self have fallen to his influence there are 4 ancient nexus points of power., one of witch lay near you re open them and your magic from your realm will be bosted100 fold over. secondly the poisin can be cured . you must find LEEGAHN BERRYS at least 2 tons, NIRN ROOT OIL 50 gallons, 1 TON of HEXAVEX LEAVES , and lastly30 dark pecha berries for each legendary.

valdederon stares out into the now blank white dream scape as a evrry ill looking cresellia appears infront of him kisseing his fore head to bestow a blessing before he wakes up panting the morning sun just barely inching its way above the mountains in the distance. while collecting him self he looks up at the sky and puts his right hand paw on his face with a heavy sigh.

valdederon--- i need some god dam coffee. atleast little nova is still asleep. shes going to hate training probably. im sorry hun but ill have to work you hard.

valdederon rubs her back softly and sets a pile of berries on the floor and heads out side and begins violently attacking the side of a large rock formation for hours nova soon yelping to the sound of a deafening explosion followed by falling rubble and valdederon coming in from a dust cloud furr soaked with sweat and he sits down nova peaking out to see the once large rock formation solid granite and difficult to break even for most stealix a pile of rubble and puddle of bubbling glowing orange molten goop.

valdederon--- lets eat and get going mom and dad are probably pissed

taiga the guild master looking in on valdederons room wrecked fire long since doused sighs and heads to the training arenas the guilds halls empty quiet.almost lifeless the guilds usual noiseyness no were to be heard driving home just how much more life one little feniken. now delphox had brought to the once sleepy guild.

raykore---- well from the storries ive heard before my student arived not much ever happened before he arived. you realy dont have to worry about that kid.. and nova will come home to he will make dam sure of that i saw that look in his eyes when he dissapeared. not even an army would stop him i dont envey who ever angred him.

taiga--- yea when he arived he was a tiny little menace. powerful tiny angry.

raykore----well i think im going to make a permenant arival into this realm i think it would be wonderful to experiance this world in its fullest oh and taiga try not to be to hard on val for the room . that fire wasnt intentional hes done that a few times in his life..when his rage boils over it manifests in a spell like that blood red fire.

her ghostly visage vanishes before he can respond and he sights looking at old repairs in the training room before heading to the mess hall. while in the cold silence contiues emphasizing just how much valdederons presence changed the guild.

taiga--- come home soon val its far to quiet

the next day arives when valdederon walks in with a verry tired and cranky nova and the guild explodes into celebration startling the cranky aura doggo.

valdederon--- ha ha ha ha.. lets get you in for a nap hun .. guys thanks for the welcoming party but.. the pup needs her sleep.

nova--- HEY IM NOT A PUPPY DONT

valdederon plops a berry in her maw mid sentance and she growls and bites into it her stomach growling face blushing red as she sits next to him . making evryone say aww all at once making her blush even more and whine

draggo--- welcome back… you know your moms like mega pissed off about the room. the guild has been a ghost town with out you .. it was scary how wquiet its been.

valdederon--- thats odd well i have to get nova in bed after a quick snack. come on nova lets head to the mess hall and then get some rest ok

nova nods and goes to stand up but promptly falls on her tail with a yelp and a yawn before curling up and falling asleep in seconds making valdederon face palm hard.

draggo--- want some help ha ha glad your both home safe

they all head up to the living quarters and get nova set in a small nest and valdederon grabs some coffee and sits next to her. eventualy falling asleep and not budging while kleo bursts in and sees him and nova asleep then sighs softly.

kleo---well i think we should set up a party for them..seeing them now i dont have the heart to get angry.. welcom home kids.

she heads out and draggo chuckles following behind to help with the prep.

nova wakes up and weaklt stands up falling onto valdederons lap startling him awake spilling his cold coffee ervywere.

valdederon--- ha ha ha ha ha .. morning clumbsy.

nova---mmmppp im hungry and i wana bath.. my furr feels stiff.

valdederon--- ha ha ha noted.. well after drenching uss in coffee weatehr you wanted it or not it was a bath house trip any way… goa head and grab a towl and ill get some special soap ready to make your furr nice and soft.

she excitedly scrambles to her feet and looks around for a towl while valdederon gets up and stretches ignoring the worry at the back of his mind and uses his magic to open the item box searching through the portal for any useful shampoo. soon a golden ninetails walks in and chuckles when valdederon looks at her..

furr goldden shining fluffy no signs of scars or any damage but a sense of familiarity washes over him as he stares.

she chuckles revealing who she is making valdederon drop the bottle of shampoo in shock and hugs her firmly startling her but making her smile as she gently hugs him back after awhile all 3 of them head to the bath house were valdederon starts lathering the shampoo into novas furr witch is stiff and prickly from the stress of what she went through and sleeping outside for several days..

nova--- what is this stuff …b,big brother

she blushes smiling having said that.

valdederon--- its called shampoo and you dont have to call me big brother yea you are my baby sister but your also an adult so you can call me val or valdederon.

nova--- it still felt good to say.. thanks val.. are you sure this will help my furr we riolu and lucario are verry prideful about our furr.

valdederon--- yes it will no close your eyes cause it will burn if it gets in them

nova whines and closes her eyes then after a short 45 minutes he rinses her furr out and begins drying out her furr. nova purring loudly as he does.

nova--- oh my god its so soft…how how how how how…yipe…

she holds her nose as valdederon chuckles having just flicked her nose.

valdederon--- ill tell you later lets go get some food and please settle your excitement…

she nods and chuckles then they head to the mess hall were the lights are all off and the room dead silent at first. then the light burst to life followe by a chourous of welcom home startling both valdederon and nova and raykore chuckling before they all get swarmed by the guild happy to have thire firey tempred fox back after a long day of party shenanigains valdederon takes nova and raykore to go find taiga and kleo to discuse his bomb shell of a discovery. eventualy after telling about his dream scape encounter nova tears up raykore sighes putting her paw to her face kleo and taiga both sit speachless.

valdederon--- so yea..turns out i have to save the world….

kleo---out of the fire and into the lava huh…ahghhg well atleast take some time to research those engrediants..

valdederon--- already planed on hitting the archives soon.

Back when, if someone drew what I draw, theyd be ignored. Hell, even SUPPORTED in some cases.

The Internet had become a shell of what was once fun. The only place really is Deviant art, and even thats slowly changing.

When I get home I get an accusitory yell and she will not be mollified. The last few weeks shes been out side the bathroom when I get out of my post work shower. Just laying and waiting. She's my little annoyed shaddow.

She curls up with me most nights.

If im sick either mental or physical she thinks purring within 4 ft of me will heal me. When I had covid she just moved into bed with me

Yk what one of the best feelings in the whole world is. The things that makes me smile and comforts my soul and brings me so much joy I can barely contain it in my chest.

I arrive home and my cat yells at me. I pet her. Then I go on with my routine. But then when I lay down she just. Curls up at my feet. She hops into the bed and stays there. And I can feel her purrs in my leg. And that's it.

I feel so loved when she chooses me to be near. I love Dara so much I will fucking cry
