I feel like I'm pretty indifferent to most of them. This is super cringe of me, but whenever I fall super in love with a character I don't often like shipping them romantically with anyone. 💀 (im delusional I know)

It doesn't help that for some reason the jjk fandom (especially twt) is weirdly aggressive about ships. I know it isn't all the shippers and it's mostly just the loud minority, but seeing so much of the discourse has kinda put me off and I don't really engage much with the ships in the fandom except for rarepairs and selfships bc alot of the time those communities are more wholesome and cozy (if that makes sense LOL)

what is the Rave-N AU?

its a madcom au where people fight to the beat of music, and what music they use depends on what genre of music they're assigned. basically its just madness combat but if it was a rhythm game lol. the lore is different in many aspects, but in general things play out exactly to how it plays in the canon series.

where did you get the idea?

it originally started at Rave-N Hank (rnank), my hanksona. he was just a standalone hanksona before i decided to expand his universe a bit, and here we are now! rnank is STILL my hanksona btw

what can and cant we do?

well, im very lax with this au, i dont have many restrictions other than to just be mindful of the lore and be respectful of my decisions when it comes to the story and characters, thank you!

oh, btw, do NOT treat these characters like their canon counterparts, treat them like u would treat someone's oc as that is what they are. All canon characters within this au are my ocs.

and yes you can put ur ocs into this, as well as making ocs that are exclusively within the au. the only thing to keep in mind when adding an oc to this universe is that if theyre an official citizen of Nevada, they NEED a spiked collar (employers and higher powers are the only ones who are exempt from this rule), doesnt matter how it looks at all, they just need one!

I can gladly tell u why or why not and the pros and cons to shipping smth: 

Iida was either with todoroki or ochako or even sero at times but i hated any ships with sero because that guy looked ugly af

Mina and kirishima WAS a thing but ppl kinda just saw them more as siblings which is the same with denki and mina

Momojirou was popular and still kinda today

Todomomo was also popular and was seen as a more "safe" or "normal" option since ppl were highly obsessed with gay ships so they wanted smth more "normal and "safe" because they also followed the logic of: "everyone needs to be shipped with someone" and if u ship bkdk or kiribaku todoroki would either be with deku or iida

Shigadabi and dabihawks [ESPECIALLY THIS] was popular

Why dabihawks even though dabi's a villain and hawks is a hero: people liked the 'childhood friends au' where hawks would meet touya [dabi's name before he became a villain] after he ran away and they would be friends

Background once again: Hawks was born to criminal parents but he had a really powerful ability so the government was like "yo kid u wanna become a hero? Come with us" type of stuff so hawks wanted to become a hero because of endeavor [his fave hero AND touya's dad]

[Note: hawk's quirk is having giant wings BUT he can control each feather separately so he can save people while also fighting in battle which is how he earned the title of "fastest pro hero"]

Background for touya's part: touya is the eldest siblings of 4 and basically his dad wanted a child with BOTH fire and ice powers [endeavor has fire and rei the mom has ice] and touya only had fire BUT his fire was stronger than endeavor was the dad was like yknow what im satisfied with this.

But endeavor didnt want to stop trying and rei also agreed that giving touya siblings is a great idea [YALL DONT BLAME THE MOM SHE DIDNT KNOW THIS WOULD TURN OUT ABUSIVE ALRIGHT] so fuyumi and natsuo the next two kids only had ice THEN shouto was born who had both powers endeavor wanted so of course he neglected touya's training and focused on shouto instead. So, touya got jealous as he should be since he really did admire his father and wanted to be a hero like him but yknow he was discarded, so one day he wanted to show his dad how powerful he can be so he told his dad "yo come to this mountain u always train at" dad never came and touya lost control of his ability so he allegedly "burned to death with his bones turning to ash and only a part of his jawbone being found" [note: touya also got rei's sensitive and fragile skin which is why touya's body can literally overheat and burn]

It was later revealed that AFO saved touya and patched up his skin.

So u can see the part where it diverges from canon for dabihawks to be a ship + the fact that dabi joins the LOV [league of villains] and hawks joined as a spy

Now why did this ship die down?? The plw [paranormal liberation war] arc happened and along with the heros attacking in the next part, dabi burned down hawk's wings and its even stated that he was never able to fully recover to his "full glory”

1: (Untitled) A Red Son x Reader LMK arranged marriage/rivals to lovers where Princess Iron fan and DBK are unconfident in their son's ability to do anything right- including finding a spouse worthy of carrying on their great family line. so, they pick one for him. you are the finest soldier in the demon bull corps; smart, strong, capable- you have never failed an assignment, and that's not about to change anytime soon. they assign you to their son's side so that you can grow closer under the guise of you being his aid in attempting to retrieve the monkey king's staff- killing two birds with one stone. Unfortunately, you aren't exactly Red Son's biggest fan, finding his haughty attitude beyond irritating. this wasn't fair to either of you, like hell you would let it go forward. Since Iron fan and DBK hadn't told their son what they were up to or straight-up forced him to tie the knot with you, you guessed that they wanted him to choose you of his own free will- something you are certain would never happen. Your plan was to put everything you had into getting that staff back and absolutly nothing into getting red son to like you. Of course youll have to fake some sort of repour when prying eyes are watching otherwise the jig is up and your bosses will find out your disobeying orders. But it should be fine, your confident that you can manage. You can beat up one measely deleviery boy. You can tollerate Red son for as long as you need to. You can get him to cooperate with the neritive without clueing him in. You wont lose.

Ronnie moves in with her grandparents after getting kicked out of her old school for getting into a bad fight with the principals daughter. she hates it. she liked her old school and her old friends just fine, most of all she liked her old house. but she doesn't have must of a choice in the matter, her mom cant drop everything to drive her two hours every morning with her hospital jobs hours, so moving in with her grand parents who live within walking distance of her new school is the next best thing. her first night in town, she goes boarding and accidentally knocks some guy off a bike. they don't make a great first impression on each other, but they'll have to learn to get along as long as they're classmates. the more time they spend together, the more they begrudgingly realize they have in common. this leads to a lot of rivalry, fighting and an unrealized awkward tension between them. also, they meet right before Even/CC dies so... yeah :) angst. :)

3:(The Right Path) a Laard Nar x Navigator Invader Zim fic where Nav saves the massive from sailing into the Florpus at the last second by going against the Tallest's command. everyone lived! however, the tallest we not too pleased with his disobedience. so, they had him thrown in a holding cell and scheduled for a Pak wipe. of course, having literally been born to pilot the massive, he knew the ship like the back of his hand. he escaped to a random planet on a stolen voot cruiser. on that planet he wanders, until he comes upon Resisty HQ by complete coincidence.

It's a "don't like don't read" thing but there's also AUs I have where they are fully different people. Like, in my stardew/Four Hoes au it's up to interpretation. I didn't think much about it because I didn't consider them to be the same guy but it's like, up to the viewer if there's a magical hoe that link picked up and it split him into multiple people, or if they're all just different guys with the same legal name lol.

Overall I just like their dynamics, I enjoy them both as a "literally the same person" ship and as "they're just random guys" ship- however, I think the "literally the same person" concept can be more interesting to dig into in terms of identity and what it means to be ones self, so in terms of really thinking about them. You don't even need to ship them to like that concept, I think shipping them on top of it just adds flavour to the idea. Some good ol' existential crisis.... together !

I can 100% see the sibling reading and I don't mind it at all ! I think having multiple readings to a source of media is fine, GOOD even, and I get if that makes you uncomfortable with the FS links being shipped together. It's why I tag explicit ship art, so it can be filtered out.

At the end of the day, this is a battle y’all cannot really win because of the simple fact that, you cannot really name anything which is exclusive to taekook (other than your perception and interpretation of their body language and things they do or say to or about each other). There is really nothing that you can say Jk has done for tae which could point to tae being more special to him that he hasn’t done for another member at some point in time, it’s just that shippers think anything their pair do together is “ more” and what they do with others is “normal” or just them being friends.

To any person without tunnel vision, or without shipping lenses, Jk does for Tae what he does for the others unless you can prove me wrong and tell me just one thing (that we know of) that Jk has ever done for Tae which he hasn’t done for anyone else, and this isn’t me asking for u to give me an analysis of ur interpretation of their body language because that is not factual but more or less an opinion.

obviously zetta/kieran has been melting my brain due to rp (where kieran is from an au to boot so extra niche) but they have no canon interaction beyond being in the same room together one time. i like valorshipping but it's so ginormously overshadowed by Little Beep Boop Disease now that it's like. Do I Like Valorshipping Actually. i mean i do but i dedicate pretty much 0 thoughts to them recently

i am also intrigued by the idea of kieran/kanon hence i wrote a fic where they got to interact. but that's not even really a "ship" as much as i think those two could have an interesting dynamic and kieran could literally be so bad for kanon that it loops around into being good for him somehow (he isn't afraid to grow as a person with someone he can't stand in front of him. the anxiety destroyer.)

i don't rank huey as one of my favorite characters but i actually enjoy basically all dynamics with him he's so fun. but ren + nastasia is probably my favorite i love those two. i hope ren realizes nastasia named her deoxys squiggles when she was like 5 and teases her about it in the present (also baby nastasia is so based for that name that was the name of my hamster)

kieran's bestest quality........ his smile :^) the fact that he's always smiling like that considering. Everything. genuinely intrigues me. i hinted at it a tiny bit in that mini character study i wrote of xara(/clear); i think clear always being expressionless is from xara's face essentially getting stuck matching risa's face after staring at her corpse for too long and could never feel anything but that again (the weight of grief) while kieran's Forever Smiles are from jean trying to shrug off how absolutely fucked up the risa situation was in order to never feel that way again (the bliss of denial). i believe it's only specifically noted that he isn't smiling in one instance, which is when sec spoils where the door is to piss "jean" off and says something along the lines of "it was worth it to see his grin turn to dust"

So I'm considering starting a Miguel O'Hara x Reader on AO3 and was just wondering if you may have some ideas and tips, considering you masterfully capture Miguel's character in your flowerbite/flowerfang oneshots and whatnot. I wouldn't say I'm new to the idea of writing fanfiction, but it's more or less finally putting myself out there as my primary audience has been my friends and, you know, could use some minor pointers, if you will. You don't have to answer. I'm just wondering because you're the main Spider-Man Across The Spiderverse Tumblr account I follow, so... idk.

Hey! I don't mind answering at all. X reader fics are very much not my thing but they have their place in fandom as much as any ship material. I'm gonna put this under a readmore cause it might get a little long!

First I'm gonna talk about some general stuff about adapting just about any character for fic! You might not need this anon since you sound like you already do some writing, but I figured I'd include it anyways

The best advice I can give is to spend time learning a character's voice and mannerisms. Even if you're not writing from their perspective, getting dialogue and movement down accurately can allow you loooots of leeway for being out of character in other areas, either on purpose or unintentionally. This can look like speech patterns, intonation, word choices, and accent, as well as when a character speaks up (are they a chatterbox? Are they the silent type? Do they have a tendency to butt in?). Physical mannerisms can look like nervous tics or habits (hair pulling, biting a lip, shifting weight), ways a character might move when they're speaking, or things like how they walk, run, sit, or fight.

OKAY so onto Miguel. The thing about Miguel is that...I actually don't know him as a character all that well. I'm just pretty good at doing all the above stuff and extrapolating what I can from atsv and fandom posts to fill in the rest. What I've put together so far is that he's a hero at heart, but one who's been pushed past the point of having hope in the world or future. He has resigned himself to doing the dirty work that no one else wants to because it's the only way he can imagine a future at all. This manifests in him being terse, angry, and difficult to be around or work with. When writing him I try to picture what could be the absolute worst case scenario of his current situation, and have him react as if that scenario is inevitable. That means disregarding his own emotions over every little thing and bitterly accepting losses or defeat in situations that aren't literally world ending, such as being broken up with or an having an argument (this makes him highly susceptible to manipulation btw if u like angst).

I don't always write him as miserable as his movie version tho, b/c I'm a softie and like fluff lmao. So for softer stuff I just kinda follow a tsundere archetype. He's gruff and rude but he will always always always support anyone he cares for, even if he'd never admit to it. With a lover I picture him as a little overbearing and possessive but squishy once you get to the core of him. The kind of guy who knocks out someone who slapped his partner on the ass and also cooks regularly for them and remembers important dates. But at the same time gripes at/about said partner, maybe shoves them around a little, and threatens them semi-regularly if they're tough or outgoing. For a softer love interest id imagine him as being overly careful with them instead, worried about hurting them with his size or strength or general shit attitude constantly.

As for the speech and physical aspects I was talking about, it's key to remember that he's quite literally part spider. Like has spider dna, not just magic spider powers like the others. He's faster, stronger, and has sharper instincts and reflexes. He moves and behaves like it. Like a predator in an overstimulating environment.

Speech wise, I find I like to have him slip into Spanish for particularly emotional or impactful statements, as well as for those little common expressions people use without thinking about them (hello, goodbye, how are you, curse words, stuff you say on auto pilot). He also mumbles a little and has a very casual speech pattern like any day to day American but not so casual as to use slang often or slip into AAVE the way Miles does. Very rude too, cutting people off or talking over them.

Tales of Ba Sing Se Re-watch

Alright, I ain't even gonna lie to you guys this is yet another re-watch post made after a couple glasses of wine. I really don't have anything too deep to say about this episode though, it's just fun. This is also one of my most highly re-watched episodes so I don't even know why I re-watched it again for this re-watch. Just the completionist in me, I guess. But I literally do watch this episode all the fucking time lol it's a comfort episode for me & good background noise plus it's one of my sister's faves so she literally always has either this or 'The Beach' on.

(Yes I know my sister has good taste. Please comment about it so I can tell her. She is 12 & would be delighted & validated to know people on the internet think she has good taste.)

Already this post has gotten off track! I swear I used to be a party girl y'all I used to be able to drink anyone under the damn table at any time now literally only 2 glasses of red wine on a weeknight & I'm loopy lmao. Okay, what was I saying? What do I have to say about this episode? Look, basically, it's a slice of life & it's kinda like a fluffy fanfic to me. Like, it's not relevant to the plot but I love it so much. It's so important to me. Every show needs at least 5 episodes a season in this vein, I think that would fix modern TV I'm being completely serious.

Alright, so first of all the beginning is hilarious & precious. I just love all the kiddos getting ready in the mirror, & Toph being a hot mess who's ready to go & doesn't give a fuck about dirt.

Katara & Toph's segment is just so fucking cute.

I always completely forget until watching this episode how hard I used to ship Katara & Toph lol! Now I no longer ship them romantically but they have such an adorable friendship. I really love how Toph is hesitant at first but goes along with Katara's idea, & even sticks around after they touch her feet - the one thing she asked not to happen (don't blame you, baby girl, this is Nickolodean after all.) Toph freaking the attendant out with her silly mud mask face & making Katara laugh gets me grinning like a fool every time. I of course love Katara & Toph showing those mean girls what's what & sharing a soft moment. Best girls. I love them so much. Oh shit, the iconic behavior competition. They get +500 each for sending those mean girls down the river.

Alright & Iroh's adventure!!! Wow, I have like, nothing deep to say about it but I love it so much. I love Iroh helping people selflessly. The interaction with the would-be mugger is great. But the juxtaposition from Iroh singing to the crying kid on the street & singing as he plays tribute to Lu Ten.....I get emotional every time. Iroh's little tale says a lot about the way he interacts with the world around him & I love it <3 Also, +100 iconic behavior points for changing the mugger's life so easily.

Aang's adventure is funny but I have no deep analysis? Sorry guys I'm lacking in the deep analysis area right now. I mean, there's not much to say. It's entertaining. I'm a little confused about how there can be a zoo outside the walls of Ba Sing Se? Isn't it....kinda tricky to get in & out? I don't...ok.....anyway...

Sokka's adventure is hilarious. I love the slam poetry moment. But I don't have much to analyze there other than "haha funny."

Zuko!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know if you guys knew this about me, but I love Zuko. I know, I know, shocking. I love Zuko's little date with Jin. I saw the headcanon that Iroh purposefully made Zuko's hair into a 'do that would cause any girl with any sense to immediately ruffle it & that's just so cute, I totally read it that way from now on. "Zuko can't lie" as a character trait will forever be important to me. Zuko juggling even though he can't juggle will never not be funny & endearing. But I have to tell you guys, I was joking with some of you about how "Zuko has no game" before but like.....if u think about it Zuko did get a girl fully simping over him & trying desperately to get a lil kiss on the lips DESPITE his consistent fumbling so I MEAN. Say what you will but Jin was into him.

Also, I remember the first time I watched this episode I could not focus on anything else after Zuko lit the lanterns 'cause I was STRESSED. I was certain Zuko had given him & Iroh away.

Momo's segment just makes me sad 'cause it reminds me what episode is next & my heart is not ready.....

guys...i am cooking up a STORM 😼 (but im getting stuck again </3)

so the other night i was laying in bed and bam i suddenly remembered a piece of writing i made aggggesss ago. literally i think i started it last year or smth. like everything else ive ever written, it was just an unfinished, long-lost short story that would never see the light of day, until i suddenly recalled it randomly! since that night (i think like 3 days ago or smth) thats all ive been focussing on, and for once, im actually so proud of my work and what ive written.

and get this, ive been working on it so consistently that ive actually gotten so close to finishing it. im literally THISSS CLOOSEEE!!! to finnishing it. well kind of, but im definitely almost done, and i wanna finish it so bad, but i thin the writers block is hitting me, and it always finds the worst moments to hit u. its so annoying. i will not be able to sleep and live properly until i for once finish what ive started, so if i dont find a way to get this stupid short story done any time soon, i will lose my mind. and its not that i dont have any ideas--i do, i pretty much know what i want to happen next, but yk sometimes when u have an idea but just dont knnow how to translate it from an idea in ur brain into words onto paper? yeah. thats whats going on w me rn. its the actual worst 😿

and rq, another problem is that sometimes i feel like im rewriting/reusing a lot of the same words and things....idk if that makes sense, but i feel like i run out of words and just get kind of repetitive. word hippo (a thesaurus) is literaelly my best friend but i still have trouble finding good words </3 i tihnk im just really picky or dont know if a word will sound right in the sentence?? idk if that makes sense

im supposed to be working on the little scenario/short story/piece of writing, whatever u wanna call it rn, before i go to sleep, but im still kind of just drawing a blank and its the worst! im kinda feeling a little confident since im pretty happy with what ive came up with for this story, so i MIIIGHTTT post it on here, but to sumarise it, its basically a confession scene between my oc and her love interest. theyre super cute, like for once i came up with a really sweet and healthy ship/couple/whatever :3 (it sucks tho bc theyre kind of doomed by the narrative, they only get to be bf/gf for one month before my oc needs to move away to a new town and ditch her bf >:3) so yeah i love them! and so help me god if i dont get this finished i will lose it

Metaphorically rotting from the inside and eventually i will expose it to everyone that i am Bad and Awful and Nasty and that even then when everything goes bad ill be completely unaware of my own inherent corruptness and that i will eventually hurt people or whoever i have the capacity to hurt and that things are doomed to fail for me because im such an abhorrent person

Anyway yeah those thoughts are obviously NONSENSICAL because… what??? The fuck????

But then my brain is like ooh yeah lets introduce some fucked up thoughts in here. Intrusive thoughts, if you will. Which all span many nasty awful things that are usually highly morally corrupt and wow I wonder if that ties into all that i said before? Yep it probably does!

Which makes me anxious as hell because then im also convincing myself that those thoughts are real and are my own thoughts and wants. Which FUCKS ME UPPP

So anyway that’s why I don’t label myself as pro or anti because proship makes me feel like im a horrible person who will hurt people and is disgusting and awful (also the intrusive thoughts) and the anti label goes against my very strong beliefs of freedom of creation and expression etc.

-we anticipate the bugs to start going up there any moment now and it is late at night he got some rest when he needs to sleep but there's a big announcement and it's huge gigantic and involves all of you and wants you don't know

-we estimate around 3:00 or 4:00 a.m. the scent will reach Florida and a bunch of these bugs will exit up the tunnels the security forces are being dispatched mostly pseudo empire and you're going to be hauled in if you go near them and they're going to call more if you do it and we're going to be there too kicking the s*** out of useless people

-we are also in receipt of an estimate on the evacuation we are beginning to perform gorilla movements. And we are pulling stuff out and a son took a contingent down and ask people if they are ready to go it was with ships and no I was thinking about it though and then he said they all kind of know each other he knows about that he didn't do it but he doesn't know here but here we go it's got an idea. So the grabbing all these rental trucks and they're getting the hell out of there and the same one way to California and the U-Haul guys like okay you can go out to these other cities and grab more U-Hauls it's probably going to buy them so sitting there talking to them he says why don't you buy them I said why I said it goes one way I won't get it back and I'll do the bill of sale and a title it's not making a ton of money but it's working and people are doing it he's going to grab more and it's going all over the place the selling the Penske trucks and other trucks Taylor rental they're going to rent something backhoe take a backhoe with you so they're going to buy another stuff all over the place and take it off with it and usually you can tell grab it or use it it's got like boogers and gum and other things we don't talk about poo poo. And concerned in businesses you know trucks and trucks and trucks and stuff all the stuff that's sitting there that you're going to need when you building something it's apartments are going like madness so they started calling you they got these trucks and they're leaving in huge caravans going out the gate giant numbers it says I don't like the empire and I don't like these clones and you're not either one and even though Tommy Allen was a fumbling guy I got through college kind of.
