This may be an old article from 3 years ago, but these cultural aspects/observations still apply even today. And though this is strictly a Chinese perspective, a lot of these everyday life bits are observed in Overseas Chinese communities in countries such as The Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc. as well as countries heavily influenced by Chinese culture like Taiwan, Japan, and Korea.
I've always liked learning about other cultures and making comparisons between how things are done East vs West. Which probably stems from growing up with two cultures and Mom raising me on American movies xD
So the irony is if you asked me how many Chinese, Taiwanese, or Hong Kong actors I know, chances are I know as much as you do xD Like Jackie Chan, Andy Lau, and that's about it. But if you asked me about Western (specifically American and British) actors, then I have a useless brain dump of movie trivia and who was with who in what movie xD
Hmmm, both Taiwan and the Philippines are two distinct cultures but both look up to a certain country and are fascinated by that. In Taiwan's case, Japan and the US for the Philippines. In both cases, this is due to being under the rule of those countries in their history. Taiwan being under Japan for 50 years, and the Philippines being under Spain for 300+ years, followed by periods of American and Japanese rule. To put it simply though:
Taiwan is "mini-Japan with a very Chinese culture".
The Philippines is "former colony of Spain with lots of American influences".
But unlike the author, I've never set foot in any Western country, so my understandings are strictly what I've observed in media, which while it can be accurate, doesn't compare to actually experiencing the culture.
Some further elaboration on most points:
#1 We quite literally use chopsticks for everything. We use it to pick rice, viands, vegetables, fruit, smaller desserts, almost all the food you can think of.
But where do you put your chopsticks when you're not using them? Just put them on top of your bowl or flat on your plate. But do not ever stick them vertically. It's taboo, since it looks like incense sticks, which we use to pray for those who have passed, like our ancestors or during funerary services.

#3 The majority of Asia is obsessed with fair/white skin. In my time at the Philippines, I grew up watching all these Dove Whitening commercials and my classmates often commented on how fair my skin was, how they envied it etc. In Taiwan, girls often say they don't want to èźŠé»‘ (biĂ n hēi) 'become dark'. Japan and Korea too are not innocent of this either (if their beauty/skin products weren't a dead giveaway).
People here at Taiwan often mistake me for being from Hong Kong or Japan (as long as I don't speak Mandarin with my heavy accent xD). A Taiwanese classmate of mine joked that she often gets mistaken for being from Southeast Asia due to having a darker complexion. And while I laughed it off with her at that time, looking back, I now realize she was lowkey being racist. xD
And believe me Filipinas have mentioned literally being told 'your skin is so dark' here in Taiwan, or being given backhanded compliments like 'you're pretty despite having dark skin' and...*facepalms*
My point is, beauty is not exclusive to skin color. People who still think that are assholes.

#5 Not to say we don't have salt and pepper, but yes soy sauce and vinegar are the classic condiments you see on the table, be it at home or at a restaurant.
And if I may add, Taiwanese love their pepper. xD If you ever get to eat at a night market or a smaller "Mom n' Pop-style" restaurant here, some dishes/soups tend to add quite an excessive amount of pepper. Not like anthills, but quite liberally and way more than average. Enough that you see traces of pepper at the bottom of the food paper bag or swirling in your soup. xD
#6 I know this all too well from personal experience. In my years of studying at Taiwan, I always had roommates. 3 in my first school (I graduated high school in the Philippines pre K-12 so I had to make up 2 years of Senior High), followed by 2 in college, with the exception of 1 in freshman year.
My college did offer single person dorms but at around 9000 NTD ($324) per month compared to around 6000 NTD ($216) per semester. Because I wanted to save, the choice was obvious for me xD. But ah, this doesn't mean I don't value personal space, in fact I love having the room to myself, and since both my roomies would go home to their families every weekend, weekends were bliss for me xD
And you don't have to be friends with your roommates (that's an added bonus however), you just have to get along with them. I was quite lucky to have really great roommates all throughout my schooling years.
#9 In the Philippines, we do. Owing mostly to American influences and maybe being predominantly Catholic? xD
#10 *sigh* Chinese parents and parents from similar Asian cultures tend to put too much emphasis on grades, so much that kids could get sent to cram school as early as elementary. This is because what school you get into could literally affect your future job opportunities, and while that's not exclusive to any particular country/culture, I feel it's especially pronounced here in Asia. I'm really lucky my own parents weren't that strict about it. However, if your parents don't point the mistakes out to you, chances are you'll do it yourself, if you're an Asian kid like me anyway. xD It just becomes a habit.
#11 My family is an exception to this. xD We do say 'I love you' directly, but complete with the 'ah eat well ok?', 'don't scrimp on food', 'sleep well' and similar indirect words/actions of affection. We were doing 'Conceal, Don't Feel' before it became popular. xD

#13 I'm kind of confused about this but this has sort have changed over the years in which eye-contact is now more encouraged. But don't stare, especially at elders and authority figures. Sometimes it's just shyness though. xD And I've observed this with my own Taiwanese friend, especially when I'm complaining or ranting to her about something. xD I'm a person who likes to express my opinions strongly, which tends to scare/alienate some of the locals here, as doing so is kind of frowned upon. Thankfully, she does listen and offers her take on things.
#14 Ah this. xD In the Philippines, this is a common greeting known as beso-beso, and I freaked out too when an auntie did that to me. xD Needless to say, Mom lectured me later on what that was. ^^"
#16 Along with #3 another crazy beauty standard. In my view, people always look better with a little meat on them and when they're not horribly thin. Asia still has a loonng way to go with accepting different types of bodies if you ask me. This combined with modern beauty standards has made the pressure for women especially to 'look beautiful' higher than ever.

I know many people love them but please, starving yourself or glorifying eating disorders is never OK just to get this kind of 'ideal' body. I'm not part of the Kpop fandom, but even I think when idols get bullied just for gaining the least bit of weight among other insensitive comments, that's really going too far.
#17 'If you want to make friends, go eat.' <- I couldn't agree more. In the Philippines we have a greeting: 'Kumain ka na ba?' (Have you eaten?) . Similarly in Taiwan, we have 搃飯äș†æȒ? (chÄ« fĂ n le mĂ©i), both of these can mean that in the literal sense but are often used as greetings instead. By then which invitation to having lunch/dinner together may or may not follow. Food really is a way for us to socialize and to catch up with what's going on in each other's lives. Not to say we don't have regular outings like going out to the mall, going shopping, etc. but eating together is a huge part of our culture, be it with family or friends.

My parents are guilty of the last one. Logic how? xD
#18 True. xD I like giving compliments out to people but I have a hard time accepting them myself, though I've learnt how to accept them much more now than before. We're kind of raised to constantly downplay ourselves so we often say things like 'ah no no' or 'I'm really not that good'. The downside of this of course is that it can come off as somewhat fake. xD
Again from personal experience, that same classmate who made the lowkey racist remark, she was good, she was on the debate team, was a honor student, knew how to mingle with people, but she downplayed herself way too much, while praising me but I honestly thought that she never really meant it from how she treated me. She wanted to keep me around her yet make backhanded compliments at me and she didn't want me socializing with my other classmate who is now my friend. *sigh* It was only after discussing this with one of my roomies did I realize how this 'excessive downplaying' might come off to people like me who more or less grew up with a more 'Westernized' mindset. I'm not saying brag about your achievements but don't be overly humble about them either, which can also be a turn off.
#20 We do tend to be a lot more realistic on how we view things, neither entirely optimistic nor pessimistic. We try to think of things practically and often analyze things on pure logic. A downside of this however, is that Chinese people can be overly practical. Taiwanese for instance don't like to 'find inconveniences' and generally keep to themselves, meaning, they won't help you in your hour of need even when they do have the capabilities. Sounds really harsh I know, but in my 6 years of living in Taiwan, while this doesn't apply to all the people, a lot of them really do only find/talk to you when they need something.
So for some people saying Taiwanese are 'friendly', that's BS xD If you ask me, Filipinos are infinitely more friendly, and again while not all, generally make more of an effort to help you when you need it. I really felt more of a real sense of community during my years growing up in the Philippines compared to Taiwan.
#21 Children do tend to stay with their parents well into college and adulthood, since Chinese families are indeed very family-oriented, in a lot of cases, grandparents often live under the same roof as us as well! And it really does save a lot of money. I see there's a real stigma in the US when it comes to "living with your parents", but that's starting to change especially because of Covid and having more and more people move back in with their parents.
Housing unfortunately is pretty much hella expensive no matter where you go, and Taiwan is no exception. Steep housing prices and the very high cost of raising a child (schooling + buxiban fees, etc.) contribute to a very low birth rate and thus an aging population like Japan. It's not uncommon to see both parents working in Taiwan.
#23 I'm an overthinker myself, but I totally agree with the author that the best is to strike a good balance between these two. Which I guess is why I love drawing or any other related creative attempts, it helps me be more spontaneous or well, creative! I like to remain intellectually or artistically inspired.
#24 Is French high school really like that? xD My friend did watch SKAM France and more or less got a culture shock from what was depicted on the show. I can confirm however that most high schools both in the Philippines and Taiwan require students to wear a uniform, only in college is everybody free to wear casual/civilian clothes.
#26 Ah this is part of our Asian gift-giving etiquette xD We always open gifts later after the event/meeting and in private. Never open them in front of the person who gave it to you or in front of others. This is to prevent any 'shame/embarrassment' that may result both to yourself and to the gift giver. I know this may come off as something weird since some people may want a more honest response or immediate feedback when it comes to gift-giving, but that's just how it is in our culture. You're always free to ask us though (in private) if we liked the gift or not ^^"
#28 I want to say the same goes to drinking, partying, and drugs however xD Those are things which are still frowned upon in our culture. And to be honest, whenever I see those in movies, it does kind of turn me off xD It doesn't mean that we're "uncool" or "boring", we just think that there are much better or healthier ways of "having fun".
#31 Is this true in France?! Man I would kind of prefer that instead of people being on their phones all the time xD This kind of goes with #20 in that Chinese are overly practical or logical, and don't read fiction as much as nonfiction. My Taiwanese friend is an exception though, she's a bibliophile who loves the feel of paper books compared to e-books, and it's a trait of her that I like a lot. Both the Philippines and Taiwan however have a huge fanbase when it comes to manga and anime though.
I'm all for reading outside of "designated reading" at schools especially. Reading fiction improves your vocabulary too, and can be quite fun! It helps you imagine and really invest in a world/story, and if you ask me something that I feel Westerners are better at, they're more in touch with their emotions and creativity, and are thus much more able to write compelling or original stories. Believe me, I've seen a fair amount of Chinese movies that rip off Western movie plotlines xD
#33 Nothing much to add on here..except that since I'm a "weird" person, Mom often jokes that she got the wrong baby from the hospital. xD
#35 True. While I agree with the care and concern that your fellow community can give you, the downside of this is we tend to only hang out with our own people, e.g Chinese with Chinese, Taiwanese with Taiwanese, etc. I've seen too that it's especially hard to make friends in Japan and Korea as a foreigner. Not only is there the language barrier, but the differences in culture too. In a way, Asians can be pretty close-minded on getting to know other cultures or actually making friends with people from other countries. I know this all too well being half-Taiwanese/half-Filipino, being neither "Filipino" enough nor "Taiwanese" enough. xD It's more of people here being too used to what they're comfortable with.
#36 Oh this is something I feel that Chinese students and other students from similar cultures should really improve on. xD How will people respect you if you don't speak your mind?
I felt bad especially for my Spanish teacher in college, granted it was an introductory course (Spanish I and II) but the amount of times that our teacher had to prompt a student to recite/speak even with clear hints already made her (and me too) extremely frustrated. The thing is, these are college students, I personally feel they don't have any reason to be so shy of speaking and technically by not doing so they're slowing the pace of the class too much and a lot of time is wasted.
Unfortunately you can't always be very vocal with your thoughts and opinions in most Asian cultures. I would say strive for that, but at the same time, play your cards well, especially if you're in a workplace setting.

Part 2 : Aizawa’s reluctant dad side kicks in when he sees you’re clearly distressed, fast friends with Midoriya, fluff with the girls of 1-A, Todoroki and Sato.

Bowing your head in defeat thinking that there was nothing you could do to possibly change his mind, you started to shuffle towards him when you were stopped.
"Ojiro-san..." You whispered.
He refused to move his tail. He refused to let you go.
"Aizawa-sensei, please," He was desperate, worried out of his mind at what would happen if you were left alone.
If he wasn't there to protect you.
He gritted his teeth, holding back as best as he could. "Don't do this."
"Do you want her to be safe or do you want her to be with you?" Aizawa's eyes were serious. "Because those are two different things."
The boy fell silent beside you.
"Here, she's exposed. Her whereabouts have been leaked to your classmates and while I don't blame you for the incident that occurred, you have taken responsibility for her." The older man continued despite your head ducking down in shame. "This is what's best, not only for her, but for the rest of you."
He directed that last part over your shoulder and you glanced over to see all the boys from earlier as well as a couple more unfamiliar faces that obviously had been roused from their sleep due to all the noise.
Aizawa sighed, really not wanting to argue or go up against one of his most dedicated students this late at night. "You have to remember this dormitory was built to ease your parents' worries. They entrusted your safety to us and we are responsible for you."
The air suddenly got a lot more difficult to breath.
"I told you that you would have to earn my trust back." He said, rough but even voice cutting through the silence like a knife, alluding at something you didn't understand.
You didn't want this. You didn't want to make things hard on everyone or cause a fuss.
"I'll go."
Ojiro's expression of surprise gave way to pain. "Y/N..."
"They'll be safer if I leave, right?" You met Aizawa's blank stare bravely despite your knees knocking together. "I want to protect them, too."
Protests rose from the other students at your determination, the majority of them pleading for you to stay, much to your surprise. But their teacher wouldn't budge and slowly, they had no choice but to give up. As much as they wanted to get to know you better, it seemed like that would have to wait.
You looked up at Ojiro, sad to have to leave but knew it was the best thing to do for now. As you moved to take off and return his hoodie to him, he halted your movements.
"Keep it." He urged, a slight blush present on his cheeks. "I don't want you to get sick."
With a small smile, you thanked him quietly, promising to give it back when you were able to see him next. He returned your smile at the prospect of there being a next time before unwinding his tail from around you.
You followed Aizawa to where he was staying so that he could make a phone call from his office. You took a second to peer around the cluttered room curiously but dared not explore. Unlike Ojiro, he didn't seem like he would take kindly to you poking around his things.
Suppressing your instinctive curiosity, you gulped when he hung up the phone, approaching you with his hands stuffed in his pockets.
"For now, you can't stay on the school grounds until we figure out some kind of legal guardianship." He relayed, being rather straightforward and clear cut with you. "I'll walk you to an inn for tonight."
"Ah..." You trailed off as he fixed his gaze on you, shuffling your feet awkwardly. "T-Thank you Aizawa-shi, but I-I can... take care of myself. I don't want anyone to get in any trouble and I know it will reflect badly on UA if you are caught harboring me, so..."
Letting out a heavy sigh, he walked past you as you rambled, opening the door. "Just hurry up."
You walked quickly, not wanting to fall behind as he strode on ahead of you, paying your entire speech no mind. You didn't know whether or not to be thankful or offended but greatly leaned towards the former. It was true that you had enough survival skills to look after yourself but life was much harder when there wasn't anyone in it.
It took about an half an hour by taxi but the night was nice and Aizawa instructed you to hide your ears and tail as well as not talk to anyone else.
You followed him to a quaint inn at the outskirts of UA's property, checking in at the deserted lobby, Aizawa paying for your room for the night. Unable to help it, you started to wander, curiosity taking over.
The walls were decorated with vintage wallpaper, curling slightly at the edges when one panel would fade into another. But while the air inside felt musty and the carpet was stained with faint shades of tea and coffee, the fresh flowers at the center of the lobby brought a smile to your face.
Once you were out of earshot but still within his field of vision, Aizawa turned to the owner.
"Make sure she gets whatever she asks for." He told him gruffly, handing him a bunch of yen to compensate for the trouble. "Food, blankets, whatever she needs."
"Y-Yes, of course, sir." The owner babbled, stunned by the sheer amount of money he had just handed to him.
You spun around, yelping frightfully when you face-planted into Aizawa's chest. He steadied you, sending you a glare that one could only decipher as a warning. Backing away quickly, you apologized profusely until he cut you off, telling you not to make so much noise.
It was late and he had a headache.
Chastised, you followed him up the creaky stairs, coming to a door with green paint peeling off of it.
Aizawa arched an eyebrow, then internally shrugged, using the key to open it. Inside, there wasn't much. A twin sized bed was crammed next to a lumpy couch he was assuming had a pull out cot, a table and a single chair in the corner along with a small bathroom.
He sighed again, wishing that he brought his sleeping bag. That would've been more comfortable than this.
Flicking on the light, he drew the curtains closed. Sparing a glance over his shoulder to make sure you were still alive since you hadn't talked since he entered, his eyes narrowed when he found you with your back pressed against the door, eyes widened in alarm.
Your knuckles were white from where you were clutching the doorknob, nearly breaking it in the process and the sound of it rattling is what drove him to finally break the silence.
Recognizing the patterns of your behavior, he turned around to face you, keeping his shoulders relaxed and maintaining eye contact with you. Trying to appear as non-threatening as he could possibly get, he forced his jaw to unclench.
You let out a shaky breath you didn't know you had been holding in when his expression softened. If you didn't know any better, it almost seemed like he was being kind.
"I don't know what you've been through but I'm not going to do anything to you, kid." Aizawa murmured and you were taken aback by how the edge to his voice disappeared when he was talking with you. "I also know that might be hard to believe coming from a stranger, but it's late and you need to sleep."
He had a feeling you would react like this and while initially he had planned on leaving and going back to the dormitory to get some shut eye before the sun came up, something compelled him to stay.
He wasn't sure it was because of your reaction but regardless, he wasn't leaving now.
This area wasn't well protected and if anyone saw you coming in and him leaving, they wouldn't hesitate to take you. He didn't know how well informed the Quirk Traffickers were but he wasn't going to take any chances.
Waving his hand towards the bed lined with fluffy pillows, you hesitated before timidly laying down as he suggested. Now, you realized what he was doing. With you here and him there, he had maximized the space between the two of you and didn't block your access to the door in case you needed to flee.
Your ears flicked nervously as you got under the covers, trusting him a little bit more. "What about you?"
He exhaled, eyes closing, swollen bags already present under them. "I won't move from here. I'd leave you alone, kid, but I'm not sure that's a good idea since those guys that are after you are pretty persistent."
Your eyebrows knitted together, contemplating if it was a good idea to ask him.
He had just started dozing off when your shy voice asked, "You're a hero, right?"
Humming nonchalantly, he hoped you would drop it there but you didn't.
"Is..." You played with your fingers, tail flicking back and forth. "Is there any way I can become one?"
That piqued his curiosity.
You stiffened when he cracked an eye open, piercing your soul.
"Why don't we talk about it more in the morning, kid?" He finally said.
Unable to conceal your eagerness, you beamed at him and he crossed his arms over his chest, which was rumbling with laughter. You shifted, getting comfortable and promptly fell asleep. For the first time in a while, you didn't stir once during the night.
He stared at you for a little while longer, gaze growing fond. For a kid to have gone through as much as you have, you sure appeared pure and untainted. Your energy was infectious.
A nightmare for the constantly exhausted underground hero.
Hmm... maybe this kid won't be so bad after all.
The next morning, you were awoken by the light of the sun for the first time in years only to be shocked when a steaming hot plate of sausages and fried rice with eggs were placed by your bedside.
"Aizawa-shi?" You yawned, rubbing your eyes sleepily.
"You don't have to be so formal, kid." He told you. "Aizawa-sensei is fine."
During the night, he had moved from the corner to keep an eye on the door. Sometime around 3 am, he had finally fallen asleep and when he woke up, there was an annoying crick in his neck.
Your nose scrunched up as you sat up, accepting the plate of food he offered you. "But you're not my sensei."
He shot you a look at your cheeky reply and instantly, you shut your mouth, stuffing your mouth only to cry out when you burned your tongue. He scolded you immediately and rushed to get you a glass of cold water.
You smiled sheepishly as he made you drink some before instructing you to blow on your hot food before shoveling it in your mouth like that. This time when you resumed your breakfast, the silence wasn't harsh or stifling like last night. It was lighter.
"I would be if you attended UA."
You dropped your chopsticks. "Huh?"
After more thought and a lot more details from him, you learned that when he had contacted Principal Nezu late last night for the third time. He had asked if it would be possible to enroll you in the general studies course until they could figure out a safe place for you.
Going to school would put you on a lot of lists due to the information the school had to provide for the government and it wasn't his initial plan since you wouldn't be able to hide in the blink of an eye with no paper trail, but he couldn't think of anything else after that fiasco that Ojiro had informed him of last night.
Plus, with you enrolled in their school with literally pro-heroes everywhere, you would be well protected simply within UA's walls. And if you ever went missing, he could already think of twenty students who would come to your aid.
You were silent at first, mulling it over. Your fluffy ears twitched every so often as you ruled out other possibilities until a wide smile spread from ear to ear.
You bowed at him, popping back up with your eyes shining, heart touched that these people you barely knew were going so far for someone like you.
"I would be honored, Aizawa-sensei."
You spent most of the weekend alone since he had other responsibilities that required his attention but he always came by at lunch to check on you and then again at night to keep watch while you slept. You argued that he didn't need to do all of that but strangely enough, he insisted and you conceded, unsure of how much you could push the issue since he was your senior.
Before you knew it, the weekend and Class 1-A's break was over. It had been four days since you ran into Ojiro and you couldn't lie. You missed him.
Badly.
Aiawa had classes to teach and you were looking forward to seeing Ojiro and Yaoyorozu and the other girls again.
For the past few days, he hadn't let you leave the motel room.
The innkeeper, who you learned his name was Jin, often came to keep you company when you requested some food. You felt bad for making him do so much work but he never seemed to mind it. In fact, he rather seemed happy to have someone to talk to.
You were supposed to leave at the same time as Aizawa the day classes resumed but were so taken with the invention of the bathtub on the way out that he had to leave before you. Heaven forbid he got fired because he was late in helping you figure out how a shower worked.
Which is why you were confused when he kept finding excuses to stay longer until he admitted to being uneasy leaving you to walk to UA alone. You teased him and he rolled his eyes. But in all seriousness, who was going to try their luck in broad daylight?
No one was going to snatch you in front of a bunch of people.
He had nothing to worry about.
After a very long and thorough lecture of safety he hammered into your head to keep the door locked at all times and to stay away from the windows, only to follow it up with all the emergency protocols you were to follow if you were being followed or attacked.
To be honest, you nodded your head through it to show that you were listening just to appease him.
He finally left an hour later and you were free to do what you wished without him quietly worrying away in the corner that you were going to hurt yourself.
It was becoming a known thing that despite your keen wolf senses, you were very clumsy.
Aizawa found it oddly amusing and horrifying at the same time.
Deciding a bath was in order, you filled up the tub with warm water, washing away all the grime and blood that had accumulated over time with a soft hum of contentment.
Once that was done, you got dressed and finally left, bidding the Jin, who was at the counter a warm farewell and thanking him for the many meals.
He waved goodbye to you, telling you he hoped you would come back and visit soon even if it wasn't to stay at the inn and you nodded eagerly, promising to visit him in the future.
You skipped down the pavement, making sure your ears were sufficiently hidden under the hood and tail tucked away thanks to the excessive length of the huge sweatshirt. You thanked the heavens above that you had been born with normal eyes.
The last thing you wanted was to have to wear sunglasses all the time.
Three hours later, you were standing out the gates of the school, completely smushed against the security gate and getting trampled on by the press in their chaos to try and find a way to break in.
Geez, their persistence was annoying.
You would've gone another way if you knew one. This was the only route in and out of the school as far as you were aware.
Squealing when you took a tumble as someone shoved you a little too hard, you winced as you tried to catch yourself from falling, only to scrape your knees when you landed on the rough cement.
Ouch... You grimaced, pulling down on your hood to ensure that it wouldn't slip off and expose your ears. That one hurt.
Puffing out your cheeks, you concluded you weren't going to get anywhere so long as they were here. You took your chances, taking off for Heights Alliance.
Just as you thought, the building was locked but you sniffed the air, eyes lighting up as you spotted the same boy from last week. You had caught him talking to Ojiro before and he had taken the liberty of introducing the two of you. He was sitting on the front steps with a somewhat distant look in his eyes and a small notebook in his hands.
"Midoriya-san!!"
He turned at the sound of your voice, visibly lighting up when he saw you.
"Y/N-chan!!" He greeted enthusiastically, then dropped his hand in concern at your disheveled appearance and bloodied knees, running out to meet you. "What happened?!"
"Ah," You winced, flashing him a canine smile full of guilt as if it was your fault you got hurt. "I got pushed around by those people crowding the front."
Pulling a key from his pocket, the boy laughed along with you before unlocking the front door. "Aizawa-sensei tells us not to talk to them, but I'm pretty sure Kacchan has threatened them before."
You tilted your head, puzzled. "Kacchan?"
That name didn't ring a bell.
He enthusiastically explained the rivalry of his childhood friend as he navigated you through the common area. You sympathized with his story, listening attentively when he mentioned how desperately he wanted to be friends with him and admired him.
Ah, so Kacchan was the explosive pomeranian.
You smiled when he told you that recently things were starting to change between them and hugged him happily when he mentioned that maybe they would finally get to be friends one day.
"How are you so nice to him after he tormented you like that?" You asked, genuinely curious and in awe at how his bullying didn't harden his heart.
Midoriya shuffled towards the kitchen. "Kacchan acts mean but he really isn't. He's really strong so I think he just doesn't want to look weak."
His thoughts rang through your head and you fell silent when he didn't elaborate.
Actions speak louder than words, huh?
Sitting down on one of the couches, you followed him with your eyes as he rummaged through something under the sink. "What are you doing? And aren't you supposed to be in class?"
He straightened up with a small huff, cheeks flushed in embarrassment. "Ah, well, they're training today and Aizawa-sensei says I'm not allowed to participate until I learn how to fight without injuring myself."
You tapped a finger to your chin as he came over with a duffle bag in his hand, sitting a respectable distance away from you. "But if you don't train, then how will you get there?"
Midoriya just smiled easily, eyes turning into crescents. "He doesn't really mean that but today he actually wanted me to make sure you got here okay."
You jolted at that.
"He what?!"
"Yeah," His brow furrowed but then smoothed over once he found what he was looking for. "I know it probably seems like Aizawa-sensei doesn't care that much but he actually does, and a lot, for us."
He told you about the USJ incident and the lengths he had gone to protect them when the League attacked.
You were speechless. Sure, this was not that new to you since you had experienced his rugged, begrudging version of kindness over the past couple of days but to have someone go out of their way to make sure you were safe and for them to actually agree to it was a whole other thing.
To hear that you weren't the only one who experienced that side of him made your heart feel warm.
Aww... he's such a softie.
"Ojiro-kun wanted to do it but Sensei said he needed to work with Ectoplasm on his tail movements." Midoriya explained, not noticing the pink that dusted your cheeks as he mentioned his name. "Here."
Blinking, you stared at him for a beat before you realized he was holding something out to you. "Oh!!"
You took the pair of athletic sweatpants with a questioning glance. "What are these for?"
He blushed, stammering. He didn't think he would have to explain it. "W-Well, y-you know, Yaoyorozu-san always k-keeps an emergency bag for these kinds of things and I-I don't think she would mind."
You giggled and his nerves faded a little in wake of your bright laughter. He gave you some band-aids and ointment to apply on your scrapes after you cleaned it.
"That's really thoughtful, thank you." You said.
He scratched the back of his neck shyly, matching your smile before packing away the rest of the things while you went to go change.
Fortunately for you, the slight injury wasn't severe. There was only a slight discoloration from where you had impacted the pavement surrounding the patches where a couple layers of skin had come off.
As soon as you finished taking care of it and put on the pants he had given you over your usual shorts, you exited the bathroom only to find Midoriya in the same place you had left him.
"So, class?" You asked, now that he had fulfilled his mission from Aizawa.
He smiled sheepishly, holding up his phone. "Ah, about that..."
Apparently, the police were held up by traffic at the moment and couldn't deal with the press that were still disrupting the students and staff. One had been foolish enough to try and cross the sensor without a pass, causing the UA barrier to activate. No one could get in or out for the time being.
Since they just built the dorms recently, the teachers were working to extend the barrier around the new buildings but it hasn't been finished yet. Instead, Cementoss created a high wall to keep outsiders out while the finishing touches would be put in place.
So while you couldn't go to school, you also couldn't go anywhere else.
Midoriya sighed, looking awfully forlorn. "I'm sorry, Y/N-san. It looks like we'll be here for a while."
"That's okay!!" You cheered, plopping down next to him, not wanting to see him so sad. "This will give us some time to talk, right? What's your story?"
He was surprised you were able to let go of it so quickly since you seemed so eager to see his classmates, then shook his head as confusion hit him like a truck. "What do you mean?"
"I mean, what made you want to go here?" You asked, tucking up your knees and resting your chin on top of your knees. "Why do you want to be a hero?"
The look that crossed his face was one of unbridled joy and determination as he launched into his story after hearing that you wanted to know about him. That look in his eyes only grew brighter the more excited he got and his energy was contagious.
You couldn't help but cheer along at his moments of triumph as he relived the memories.
It connected into him showing you his notebook where he wrote down everything about all sorts of heroes once you asked him how he managed to keep track of everything he had told you in his brain.
The two of you were so engaged with your conversation, hunched over the coffee table as he tore through his notes that neither one of you heard the front door open.
But the loud chatter that flooded the common floor had you both springing to your feet in an instant.
"Welcome back, everyone!!" Midoriya greeted enthusiastically as his peers crashed the party. "Y/N-chan is here!!"
You smiled happily as Ashido launched herself at you, smothering you in a hug.
"Y/N-chan, you're back!!" She shouted excitedly. "Yayy!!!"
"I hope it's alright that I'm borrowing these." You tugged on one of your ears self-consciously as Yaoyorozu greeted you just as warmly. "There was a minor incident earlier."
The raven-haired girl waved you off automatically. "Of course it is!! That's what it's there for after all. You can keep those, I'll replace them later."
Jaw dropping open in surprise at how cool she was, you just managed to catch Uraraka as she flew at you at breaknecking speed. You returned her hug, smiling and bobbing your head along with her as she caught you up on all the latest things that had happened since you were gone after making sure you were okay.
It was almost weird. Almost like you fit right in.
You had only met them once last week and yet they were all so eager to befriend you. You thought you should've been more wary of them but they didn't seem to mean you any harm. Your gaze eagerly scanned for Ojiro, only for your tail to droop slightly when you didn't see him.
Hagakure giggled, picking up on your disappointment. "Aizawa-sensei asked him to stay behind for extra lessons today, but he'll be back later~"
If the invisible girl was visible, you were almost sure you would've seen her wink.
After that energetic yet warm welcome, you were ushered further inside as the boys took over the common space to hash out some friendly competition through a game of Smash.
Bakugou was banned, he broke one too many controllers in his fit of rage last time.
You stumbled through the hallways and jittered nervously as you and the girls took the elevator up to Yaoyorozu's room.
It was rather cramped, given that all her furniture was a lot bigger than her bedroom could handle but that just meant you all could sit in a circle on her enormous bed.
Hagakure eagerly asked if she could paint your nails to which you stammered out you weren't exactly sure what that meant.
An array of shocked gasps had the girls scrambling in a flurry to grab anything and everything needed for an evening of relaxation. Jirou even grabbed her guitar while Yaoyorozu left to go make some tea. Uraraka got to work on detangling your hair, in awe of your fluffy ears. The two of you were caught giggling hysterically as Asui came through the door with the elder girl balancing a tea tray in tow.
The next couple hours consisted of you getting to know Asui better, the frog girl preferring you call her by her first name, Tsuyu, and the girls spoiling you rotten, completely ignoring the fact that they had homework due tomorrow.
You were floored.
Your stomach started to growl and your cheeks pinked when Ashido shrieked at how adorable you were.
Jirou just barely stopped herself from smacking her friend, you were clearly hungry.
Yaoyorozu asked if you would like something to eat and you bowed your head, folding your hands in your lap.
"... If... If it's not too much to ask for." You said quietly.
Yaoyorozu cooed and Hagakure squealed, practically dragging you out of the room and back downstairs. Uraraka and Jirou stayed behind, needing to get to work on a project that wasn't due until the end of the year, but wanting to get started on it now so that they didn't have to do it later.
Midoriya was nowhere to be seen once you got downstairs, but the other boys hadn't moved since you had last seen them with a few exceptions.
Kirishima and Kaminari were still lounging in the same spot but had turned the TV off and had textbooks spread out before them.
Shoji, Aoyama and Iida were in the adjacent corner, all three of them looking up when Ashido bounded over to them.
Asui went over to where Tokoyami was studying, and the two of them started studying for Midnight's upcoming exam.
Sato was in the kitchen when Yaoyorozu came in, greeting her politely when she asked if he could help her make something for you to eat. He blushed a bit, saying how he didn't have much experience cooking since he was more proficient in sweets but that he could try.
"What's going on?"
You turned around at the unfamiliar voice as Yaoyorozu greeted him, with a slight twinge of relief in her tone.
"Todoroki-san!!" Yaoyorozu smiled. "Do you know how to make any meals? Y/N-chan is hungry."
The boy with two-toned hair debated the situation, brow knitting in concentration.
"I'm not sure." He said slowly.
He wasn't sure he'd be able to make you something satisfactory. He really only liked to eat one thing and therefore only knew how to make that well.
"Do you like soba?" He asked you.
You tilted your head, the word not ringing any bells. "What's that?"
Todoroki cracked a small smile at your curiosity, then pushed up his sleeves and immediately got to work alongside Sato while Yaoyorozu fetched what he needed.
You wanted to help them but seeing as how you had no idea what it was or what they were doing, you decided to leave them to it. Sitting on the same stool at the kitchen island as the first night when you came here, you interjected occasionally to grab something they seemed to be looking for in an attempt to not be entirely useless.
Sato was the one to reassure you that there wasn't much to do in preparing it and that your food would be done soon.
Five minutes later, Todoroki was pushing a bowl of hot soba towards you. Sesame and ginger wafted through the air from the broth and your nose scrunched up cutely, bright eyes going wide as you salivated.
"It smells really good!!" You cheered.
A subtle but relieved smile made its way onto his face at the compliment and he handed you a pair of chopsticks. You had been fed hot food so rarely you weren't used to cooling it down before you ate it. You dived in, recalling Aizawa's instructions from before and blowing on it first before tentatively taking a bite.
They were really tasty for something that looked so simple.
You beamed, soup dribbling down the side of your chin once you tasted it. "Thank you, Todoroki-san, Sato-san, Yaoyorozu-chan!!"
The boys bowed while the girl diligently wiped your chin with a napkin and patted your head, happy you liked it.
Content that your needs had been satisfied, Yaoyorozu asked if you wanted anything else before she got started on her homework for the night. You shook your head, thanking her once more before she left, Todoroki following not long after.
Finishing your soba, you watched curiously as Sato whisked something together in a large bowl, checking on the paper on the counter before pressing a couple of buttons on the oven.
"Whatcha doing?" You asked, nose twitching,
His gaze flickered up to yours and he smiled. "I'm making a chiffon cake. Would you like to try it once it's done?"
You beamed, practically drooling at the thought of it already. "Yes, please!!"
The aromatic scent of chocolate hazelnut made your mouth water as he pulled it out of the oven.
He made casual conversation with you as you stared longingly at the cake that had to set first before he cut it. You were surprised to find out that he liked baking more than cooking but nodded your head understandingly when he explained his quirk to you.
"That's so cool!!" You exclaimed, flapping your hands excitedly. "You convert all of that into power and it makes you stronger?!"
"Yes, but it doesn't last very long." Sato told you as he sliced the confection carefully. "And my brain doesn't work as well but it is quite handy to have in a difficult situation if I have some snacks on hand."
Your eyes lit up when he handed a generous slice to you on a plate rimmed with cherry blossoms. It almost looked too good to eat.
Almost.
You waited until he got back from distributing it to his peers who were still in various spots on the common floor before sharing it with him so you could eat it together. Of course he didn't remember to save any for him.
"Isn't this a lot of work?" You mumbled around a mouthful of cake as he explained how he'd been trying all sorts of new recipes. "Doesn't it get tiring?"
Sato nodded, cleaning up his work space and grabbing new bowls from the cabinets. "Yeah but it's worth it since it helps me with my quirk. Besides, I get to share it with everyone when they're done."
You giggled, pointing at him with your fork. "Yes, that's definitely a plus."
A hearty guffaw erupted from his lungs, causing several others to look over in your direction but your smile only grew wider.
You made someone laugh. Really laugh. It made warmth bloom in your chest and you kicked your feet happily, chomping on the last bit of cake with a blissed out look on your face that was equal parts from the confection and your new friend.
He might've looked intimidating but he was nothing but kind.
The front door cracked open and your head turned at the various greetings that came from around the shared space had your eyes widening.
You dropped your fork and it clattered on the countertop of the kitchen island.
"Ojiro-san!!"

Star Vs The Forces of Evil:
Monster Carvers (link) - Main Star Vs AU. Stomco endgame + Tom stays with Marco + Star raised by Monsters (specifically Buff Frog). The titular antagonists were originally going to disappear after the prologue what the heck happened???
Pretty Cure vs the Forces of Evil (link) - Exactly What It Says On the Tin, Pretty Cure x Star Vs.
unnamed Pirate AU - Star Butterfly has a perfectly nice, unbearably boring life as a high-class lady, with little to do other than wait to be married to her arranged fiancĂ© that she’s never even met. A week before her wedding she sneaks on board a shipping vessel in the hopes of having an adventure. She gets a little more adventure than she bargained for when the ship is attacked by pirates.

How to Train Your Dragon:
Outsiders (link) - Main HTTYD AU. Instead of watching the entire Berk fleet sail off to their dooms with Toothless, Hiccup and Astrid free the arena dragons and take Toothless while he’s being brought to the ship and then they all get the heck out of dodge. Dagur accidentally set himself adrift with Heather back when they were both small. Snotlout learns the hard way that being the Heir/responsibility kind of really sucks actually??? Stoick has to deal with his son going rouge. And Gobber and the Berk Teenagers have to deal with Stoick and Snotlout respectively.
Modern Riders/Time Travel AU - Modern!Hiccup is dragged by his cousin into an unwanted camping trip with the other riders and one electrical storm later, they find their cell phones aren’t working any more. Also are those flipping dragons?! On Berk, Stoick and the other vikings are shocked to find a group of teenagers in the woods who bear a shocking resemblance to some of the members of a dead generation of children.
Unsevered Bonds - Modern Riders (minus Hiccup) meet a time displaced Hiccup who recognize them as his reincarnated friends, even if they don’t remember their former lives.
How To Train Your Lusus - Everyone are trolls on Alternia. Hiccup is a brownblood who’s probably the only troll in existence to get a second Lusus (Toothless) after his first one (Stoick) is killed. Astrid is an oliveblood that Hiccup is flushed for, Fishlegs is a yellowblood, Snotlout is a blueblood, the Twins, Dagur, and Heather are all purplebloods. Dagur killed both his and Heather’s lusus so now he’s trying to take care of her even though she absolutely hates him (and not in a black way), and he had an unrequited pitch thing for Hiccup at one point before they flipped pale (and are actually Moirails now). That’s pretty much all I have for this one.
unnamed Harry Potter AU - Does not actually take place at Hogwarts. Everyone attends Dumstrang (possibly) and the topic everyone avoids is Care of Magical Creatures, because the local Dark Lord is Drago Bludvist. Main trio is Hiccup, Snotlout (Pureblood cousins), and Fishlegs (Muggleborn)
 somehow.
Dragon Gang (link) - Mob/Mafia AU set in the vaguely 1920s in a Fake Country so no one can call me out on inaccurate geography.
Rebuilding Bridges - Set in a Multiverse where RTTE and The Hidden World are mutuality exclusive. (Pt.1): After dealing with Drago but before dealing with Grimmborn, Hiccup and Toothless once fought a witch intent on ‘harvesting’ dragons. Now ten years after the dragons have left her apprentice seeks revenge and kidnaps Zephyr and Nuffink, and a panicked Hiccup and Astrid are contacted by the Very Retired and Very Much Done With This Kid witch. Meanwhile in the RTTE-verse, The Dragon Riders only just got back from informing Berk about Johann’s treachery, when some crazy lady spontaneously appears in the middle of the Edge with two terrified children she intends to feed to dragons. Yeah, that’s not happening.        (Pt.2, spoilers for this AU I guess???): Zephyr and Nuffink and their parents have safely returned to New Berk, but their world has been shaken by what was and could have been. Zephyr and Nuffink, after bonding with Dagur in the other timeline, decide they want to try and help him in theirs. This was perhaps not their best idea. Meanwhile, the Nightlights escape the watchful eye of their parents to go exploring outside the Hidden World, and quickly meet the hatchlings of their dad’s brother! (so
 their cousins, then?)
Something Wild (name subject to change) - Several years after Berk (along with most of the Archipelago) is attacked and taken captive by a far more advanced foe, Stoick is able to free most of his people but what he finds when they get manage to regroup back to their island is less than a relief- Berk ravaged and their elderly and children, left behind by their captors, missing. To make matters worse, the dragons are still out there, now with some kind of devils riding and aiding them. Now Stoick, Gobber, and the rest of the people of Berk must find safety and a way to fight back against they’re new foe, find what happened to those who are missing, and figure out who these dragon riders are and whether they’re friend of foe (gee i wonder where the Berkians went and who the dragon riders are golly what a mystery). (aka the feral/semi-feral!dragon riders au i keep trying to create)
Lost (name subject to change) - Alternate attempt at the feral/semi-feral!dragon riders au. Several years before the events of the movie could happen, a raid on Berk not by dragons, but by other people, leads to the destruction of an entire generation when the raiders manage to capture the Teenagers of Berk and ship them away. While in captivity, they meet and ultimately befriend the dragons that in another life would be their partners and together they all escape. Unfortunately, they’re Thor-knows-where, and with no one they can trust (or understand) except each other, getting back to Berk might take a while

The Lego Movie:
Hero with Two Faces of Yellow - Another ‘Emmet and Rex share a body like Good Cop Bad Cop’ AU
Peacemaker AU - Main Lego AU. About a year after the Duplo aliens attack, Emmet is attacked and presumed dead, but he’s actually been taken by General Mayhem to meet Queen Watevra Wana'bi, who remembered and missed her ‘father’. Later, Rex ends up jumping into an entirely different timeline by accident (this one) and decides to try and play the long game by befriending Emmet, who’s now living in the Systar System. That probably won’t work out for him the way he wanted.
Miraculous Ladybug
MiracuClass Knows AU - Prior to Volpina, each member of the MiracuClass finds out the identities of Ladybug and Chat Noir, and just sort of collectively become their secret keepers. Inspired by Epiphanies by PFTones3582 on Fanfiction.net.
Miraculous Sburb AU - The MiracuClass play Sburb and end up dragging a good chunk of Paris in with them when they enter the Medium. Marinette is a Light player, Adrien is a Doom player, and that’s all I got. Gabriel probably definitely dies.
One Is Silver and the Other Gold - aka the Marikimno Brot3 AU. I headcannon that Marinette, Kim, and Nino were close friends as little kids that drifted apart a few years prior to the start of the show. In this AU, that never happened. Also, Alya becomes Adrien’s best friend instead of Nino, and Nathanel becomes their friend too somehow? (someone help Alya, she’s an extrovert and both her friends have social skill levels in the single digits.)
The Ladybug and the Monkey - Main Miraculous Ladybug AU. My take on the ‘Fu chooses Kim to be the second Miraculous wielder instead of Adrien’ AU that I’ve somehow seen multiple times.
Sleeper Miraculous -  AU where instead of the Miraculous being handed out, they’re transported magically to their wielders after they’ve proved themselves somehow. The Miraculous still need to be ‘activated’ by the Guardian to be used on either a permanent or temporary basis, so Ladybug still has to go to Master Fu at first before she becomes the new Guardian, but she knows literally none of the other members of Team Miraculous’s identities. They have a chat group, too, where Ladybug updates team members on whose Miraculous she’s going to activate, and both Chloe and Kagami never blow their identities. Contains both mild Classmates + (even milder)Adrien salt and sugar. (define irony: wanting to punch someone in the face for being an a-hole only to realize that said a-hole is you).
Miraculous! Pretty Cure! - Another Pretty Cure AU. Yep.
Mesapia AU - Butterfly!Marinette AU with a few twists - 1) instead of just facing the villainous user of the Ladybug Miraculous, all of the Miraculous have been lost to villains (save for the rabbit). Marinette frequently empowers her classmates (+Adrien, who’s still under house-arrest in this AU, Luka, and Kagami) to fight the Miraculous Villains, who are also all fighting each other; and 2) This isn’t so much a Kwami Swap as a Kwami Scramble, no one uses their canon Miraculous here (except for Fu briefly, and Emilie had the peacock before what happened to her)!
Boys vs Girls AU (name subject to change) - Marinette vs Lila with the Boys (+Kagami) on Marinette’s side and the Girls on Lila’s.
Labyrinth - Almost the entirety of the MiracuClass go missing (+Lila, Luka, & Kagami, -Chloe) and on a related note, eight very young children wake up in an ever-shifting, monster-filled underground labyrinth and grow up together. And two of them have some special, appearance-shifting jewelry

Mad Gabriel - Miraculous Ladybug x Mad Father, starring Adrien as Aya, Marinette as Dio, Gabriel as Alfred Drevis, Nathalie as Maria, and everyone else as the doctor’s victims (Lila is Ines).
Miraculous Royal AU - A fantasy AU starring the MiracuClass (shocker) spread out across three fantasy kingdoms.
Quartz Butterfly AU - AU in which Jagged Stone takes the role of (a significantly nicer but still villainous) Hawkmoth as Quartz Butterfly, with Penny taking on Mayura’s role as Songbird. (yes i know peacocks aren’t songbirds SHHHH).
MiracuTrio AU - AU based on fanofanimation’s submission to terrible-miraculous-ladybug-aus, where Kim becomes a permanent member of the team after Party Crasher.
Mitterlicht - horror-ish AU inspired partially by various horror games, Lucidstuck, and Underbright (no, really).  After receiving their Miraculous for the first time, the temporary heroes start having less-than-restful nights. Things quickly go from bad to worse when fragmented, panic-inducing dreams turn into nightly (and solitary) trips into a dark world full of monsters that want to take something referred to just as their ‘light’- a bright light that acts as both a beacon to the hostile creatures and the only way to return to consciousness every night -which just so happen to be in the exact spot (and in many cases, are also vaguely the same shape) of their Miraculouses.
Mirakatsu - Aikatsu AU
Ladybug: Don’t Deal With Hawkmoth - (aka the result of listening to the Cuphead Rap Battle 50 million times) Cuphead AU where Ladybug and Chat Noir have to go around beating up akumas and collecting their butterflies to avoid getting akumatized by Hawkmoth.
Miracle Thieves - a phantom/gentleman thief au where Marinette and Adrien (who have been thieves for years) unwittingly steal a pair of magical artifacts and decide to team up afterwards. Includes Fox!Nino, Journalist-determined-to-expose-their-identities!Alya, and possibly Tiger!Markov.
Homestuck:

Merged Sessions AU - An AU where our favorite trolls and the Beta Kids are all part of the same session

Same Side, Same Session AU - Combines both of the two immediately above AUs, The Beta Kids and Beforus Trolls have a session together that fails and gets Scratched, then the Alternians and Alphas play the game together while the pre-scratch players (all alive) travel to their session and have Meteorstuck Shenanigans.
Relief Was Just a Dream (name subject to change) - aka the mandatory Troll Rebellion AU, inspired by a fic I don’t remember the name of on A03. Sweeps after Karkat and Feferi are (seemingly) culled, Ace Legislacerator Terezi Pyrope -one of the best despite knowing she’s one wrong move away from being culled for her disability- is called in to investigate a series of traitorous attacks on more and more ships. Weirdly, the trolls seen most in the attacks don’t even seem to exist, all seem to bleed a painfully familiar cherry red, and have powers that even Her Imperial Condescension doesn’t seem to have. (not a no-game au)
Freetime AU (name subject to change) - AU where Bro leaves Dave on Dad Egbert’s doorstep, and Dave and John grow up as brothers.
Megaman:
Pokemon Network - Hub lives Pokemon AU with at least two protagonist teams. Team A: Lan, Hub, Mayl, Dex & Yai in Kanto. Team B: Roll, Glyde, Gutsman (Gus) in Kalos. What are Chaud and Protoman/Blues up to? ~Secrets~
Sailor Moon:
Inverse Corruption - When Beryl scours the Earth looking for her reincarnated generals she fails to find them, but she does manage to find the senshi instead. Sailor Moon has to unknowingly face the very girls who were supposed to protect her, fighting side-by-side with the Shitennou instead. (the boys are highschoolers to the girls middleschoolers)
Hazbin Hotel:
Infernal Relations - Why did Lucifer and Lilith wait so long to have a child? Simple; they didn’t. Unbeknownst to Charlie, her parents both had and lost a child thousands of years before she was born, a fact that will have far more of an effect on her hotel than she could possibly realize (even if she had known).
Apprentice Charlie AU - AU where Charlie gets into a fight with Lucifer and leaves before she ever thinks to create her hotel and Alastor ends up finding amusement by taking on an apprentice. (inspired by Helluva Teacher by Sol_Victoria on A03)
Phineas and Ferb:
Cursed Cats AU - AU based on the song Black Cats of Halloween. Phineas, Ferb, and their friends are cursed by a demon who turns them into black cats, save for on Halloween night. They’re then thrown into a world of magic and have to find each other, their way back home, and a way to break their curse, preferably in that order.
Danganronpa:
Online Gamer AU - no one dies/non-despair AU where no one is a super/ultra highschool level anything, no one has met each other in person, and they all play Among Us together. Junko always dies first and she’s low-key going to hurt someone over it.
unnamed AU where the murders of the killing game happen differently (aka the mandatory dr au)
unnamed AU inspired by ask-the-dr-reset-kids - After an incident that forces Hope’s Peak to temporarily close it’s doors, Class 78 all transfer to a different school. Junko is in jail, Mukuro is coping, Izuru is looming somewhere, the Ultimate Despair are waiting like sleeper agents to cause the The Most Despair Inducing Event in History, and Makoto is straight up not having a good time (and has very good reasons not to tell anyone).

Double Mastermind AU - similar to the above, both Class 77 and Class 78 wake up one day with no memories of their school lives. Meanwhile in the control room, Makoto and a sort-of-but-not-really-reformed Junko are working together as the Masterminds behind the mystery. Well, Makoto’s working, anyway. Junko just kind of wants to give Makoto daily migraines. Contains Junko/Makoto hateshipping.
unnamed Taka Lives AU where instead of switching roles with Hiro during the third trial he just manages to survive the murder attempt. He does not, however, get out unscathed

Assasain!Makoto AU: The Killing Mystery - au that’s basically the one directly above but takes place in a non-despair (or maybe averted despair would be more accurate) timeline. After receiving and turning down a job to assassinate a certain up-and-coming politician, The Black Mask (Makoto) alerts his would-be victim, an old former friend, that someone is out for his life.
Remnants of Hope AU - AU that takes place after the end of School Mode, with the class not being picked up by the future foundation right away. (does this. does this actually qualify as an au i’m not sure.)
unnamed Class Swap AU
unnamed AU where Makoto and Kiyotaka are brainwashed into Ultimate Despair in addition to Class 77. Contains both sweet and very effed up Naeishi, as well as Despair!Makoto+Izuru friendship (or as close as Izuru can get, anyway). Technically another 2 (or 3, sort of) masterminds au.
Soulmates AU - In a world where most people are colorblind until meeting their soulmate, Makoto Naegi walks into Hope’s Peak Academy colorblind, blacks out, and wakes up to color. As it turns out, the same thing happened to everyone else!
Scrapbook AU - After entering into Hope’s Peak Academy, Makoto started a scrapbook/photo album of himself, his classmates, and eventually even the class above his own during their time on and off school. It soon became a class diary of sorts after being discovered, shared among everyone
 then a chronicle of the events leading up to Class 77 going missing, The Tragedy starting, and Class 78 sealing themselves inside the school bunker, before returning to it’s original purpose as Class 78 lived inside their homemade bunker. In canon, Junko found and burned it. In this timeline, it’s an amnesiac Makoto and his classmates who find it, hidden under the floor in Makotoïżœïżœs room.
Amnesia AU - A boy wakes up in a school(?) with no memories of where he is, how he got here, or even who he is. As it turns out, there are fourteen other people here
 and all of them have the same memory loss he does! (may or may not be an IF Bad End AU)
Polychain AU - Another different Victims and Blackends au, that extends well beyond the original Killing Game. The Tragedy occurs very differently in this one
 initially. Also features Junko escaping after the Killing Game, and Hajime and Shuichi being half-brothers and kids of the survivors.
Unnamed AU where Leon and Taka also attended Makoto and Sayaka’s middle school.
Ghost AU - After being killed, the victims and blackened are forced to stick around and watch the Killing Game happen, believing they'll be allowed to move on after they leave. Turns out, they're very much wrong- but at least after it's over their classmates can see them! Too bad they're the only ones.
Teachers Assistant AU - inspired by a fic I don’t remember the name of on fanfiction.net. After Nagito blows up a building and gets suspended, Chisa is forced to take a Teacher’s Assistant or be fired. Somehow, a very reluctant Makoto gets the job, despite being in the class below her own. Cross-class shenanigans ensue.
Unnamed Timetravel AU inspired by a fic I don’t remember the name of on fanfiction.net where Makoto and Alter Ego, the only survivors of the Killing Game, are sent back in time to Makoto’s first day attending Hope’s Peak - Makoto mentally and Alter Ego physically. Not as dark as the premise sounds, at least theoretically.
Crossover
Dagla!Adrien AU - Adrien isn’t the son of Gabriel and Emilie Agreste, but instead his parents are a Modern Dagur and Mala. He still works for Gabriel as a model, but otherwise has had a very different upbringing (most notably the inclusion of a lot of people who have cared about him for his entire life, such as his best friend Zephyr Haddock) and acts more like Chat Noir both with and without the mask. He still befriends his canon friends, becomes Chat Noir, and falls in love with Ladybug. (HTTYD x Miraculous Ladybug)
unnamed Adventure Time x Star Vs AU
Miracutale - Lila pushes Marinette down a hole, Adrien tries to catch her but fails. Undertale ensues. (Miraculous Ladybug x Undertale)
Sailor Bella (name subject to change) - AU inspired by some art from Turning-the-Tides, Princess Serenity reincarnates not into Usagi Tsukino, but Isabella Garcia-Shapiro, and her Senshi are reincarnated into the boys. I have no idea who Endymion became if he exists at all in this AU. (Sailor Moon x Phineas and Ferb)
unnamed three-way crossover between Harry Potter, Miraculous Ladybug, and How to Train Your Dragon.
unnamed Steven Universe x Undertale AU - After returning from the Jungle Moon, Steven and Connie end up stranded in an alternate timeline where they meet what appears to be another half-gem going by the name of False Topaz (Frisk). Things get a little more tricky when it turns out that gems and humans coexist somewhat
 on one side of a giant, seemingly uncross-able mountain range live humans, on the other gems, and after a war between the two a few centuries ago, both cultures have a kill on sight policy. To make things more complicated, gems seem to be very different in this timeline. (note: Frisk is not actually a gem, just disguised as one)
unnamed Undertale x Star Vs AU - There’s a new face at the Silver Bell Ball - Frisk, heir and ambassador for the Kingdom of
 Monsters?! Star and Frisk are quick to befriend each other, but despite that, Star can’t help but feel that Frisk doesn’t like her
 And Frisk may have more than one secret to share
 or maybe to keep.
unnamed Miraculous Ladybug x Danganronpa AU - The Worst Most Despair Inducing Event In History was localized to Japan (but the effects are spreading), and the six survivors of Hope’s Peek, aided by Kagami’s father, whom Byakuya naturally has connections to, immigrate to France to pick up the pieces of their lives. Meanwhile in France, Ms. Bustier’s class gain five new transfer students after the events of Miracle Queen.

New: French-English and English-French lessons!
That had been suggested by 2 IRL friends as a way to earn me some savings before opening art commissions (too busy for now, will wait for Summer) and also filter up some unserious people I had misadventures with. But why didn't I think of it myself!
So all new: by paying me on my Ko-Fi, you can help me make my English bachelor degree useful as well as allow yourself some help by letting me teach you about my language if you need help with work, school or just to learn out of curiosity!
Pour les francophones désirant apprendre plus sur la langue de Shakespeare, l'inverse est possible aussi !
You are given the choice between two tariffs
First tariff possibility: things going separetely. 8 euros a lesson, 4 a homework you need to do, 4 an exercice I would give you myself, 4 sentences translation, 8 a text correction, 12 a text typing (plus 4 extras every new page), 16 a text translation (4 extras every new page). I will see gradually what can be added according to needs
Second tariff possibility: 24 euros an hour that can be of anything of those or other
There will also be two special tarrifs/prices for special situations:
20 euros to pass a quizz/test to see if what was learnt was acquired
If you want me to add translated subtitles to a video, I would use the Cash Clock app in order to see how much it would cost (rounding it up to the closest multiple of 4). Depending on how long the video would be

Being a student myself, you need to forgive me if I refuse your session or ask for it to be later, for indeed it is my last year of studies so I have exams to prepare, classes, an internship to do soon, a thesis in the making, interviews for class projects and an internship report
Apologize me in advance but I do not want to scam you and want to be sincere: I am all new about teaching, since I stopped at the bachelor degree that is general about the language and didn't specialize in any field such as translation or teaching, therefore my teaching methods may be unperfect and I might need outside help from former classmates who specialized if the translation to do is complex (not that I would not know how to do it, BUT translating is not just translating, it is a whole art to keep the text's rythm, adapt cultural references, improvise impossible notions that don't exist in the other language etc so all translators find a different translation ; my classmates and I would compare ours and discuss to compromise into one translation back in the old days). Furthermore even if my English is great, there are things I might not know since I didn't do master degree
I'm dyslexic so even if I have a slight form there might be easy or blatant mistakes I wouldn't see at first from time to time

A Different Life
50 Years Ago...

Of what Shadow could see was all just a blur of colors as his escape pod entered the Earth’s atmosphere, the very thing that was keeping him from burning alive was falling to pieces as it continued to descend...very rapidly. 
The events before he escaped his home - The Space Colony A.R.K, it was literally hell. Gunfire after gunfire, his Creator disappearing from his eyesight within seconds after they were ambushed. Why was this happening? He never understood. Among all of that, Maria was under fire as well. He had hollered from his escape capsule for her to get to safety. Before he knew it, she had been shot.  In the chest. Words were exchanged between the two, and before he knew it, his escape pod was released. Was she... gone? Never to be seen again? 
Shadow braced for impact as the ground grew closer and closer. He blacked out momentarily, he shook his head as his ears started to ring. Cringing in pain, he glanced up to the blue sky. The hedgehog would be awed by the beauty if the circumstances were different. He scanned his surroundings, it looked like he was on some kind of Island... soon he found the strength to roam the island. There was no sign of another escape pod. Perhaps she landed elsewhere... he quietly hoped. The sound of commotion distracted his search for his companion. There were more men dressed in the same attire that attacked their home. A low growl escaped the hedgehog. What did they want?!
“Commander!  The lifeform just landed on the Island. Do you wish for us to capture?” Shadow’s ears pinned back, prepared for a fight. “Yes, sir! We’ll need backup...” The human tensed up, as he raised his gun, loaded and ready to fire. “Don’t do anything stupid.” He muttered, as more men in uniform joined him. He fired a shot at the target, Shadow quickly dodged, and ran in the other direction. Forgetting there was a unwelcoming sea. He may be the ultimate lifeform, but he did not know anything about the ocean, except the creatures that lived in it.  He whirled around to face his enemy. Of course, they were quick to charge at him before he made a move. With the training he took at home, he was able to dodge every blow; only a few bullets brushing against his arm. The last soldier he kicked away, while another approached Shadow from behind...jabbing something sharp in his neck. Shadow swung a fist at the man, making contact with his jaw, he felt his neck. Odd. No blood? What did... oh wait, there it is. Everything around him started to spin out of control, he shook his head with no prevail. Before he knew it, he was shaking, and on his hands and knees while they gathered around him. Everything went completely black. He was out cold. 
When he woke up hours later... or was it the next day? Damn, at this point he didn’t care. What woke him was a familiar voice... Prof. Gerald Robotnik, better known to him as his creator. 
He was angry. 
“This was not the deal, at all! She had nothing to do with this!” Gerald shouted from down the hall. “He... listen! Damn you.. I built that place to protect this world. I created...-”
“What about....” whatever was said, it was inaudible to Shadow’s ears.
“...I did exactly as you selfish fools asked for, and paid me millions for. What I get in response? My granddaughter was shot for Christ’s sake! I see I made a mistake striking a deal with the likes of you....”
If anything else was spoken between the two, was muttered to Shadow as they moved to another room further from the one he was currently in. There were so many questions he had, what did his creator mean? They paid him? For what exactly?! Quite frankly, he only wanted to know if Maria was still alive.

“Prison Island, really?” The elderly Professor scoffed, disgusted with the current circumstances. 
“A perfect place for criminals, don’t you think?” The commander eyed the shorter human.
“I am not a criminal.”
“That’s what they all say.” Prof. Gerald glared, “besides, you should be grateful before you leave this world... that your granddaughter’s life was spared. Oh, need I remind you before you blame my soldiers, she did intervene in the capture of Project: Shadow. Therefore, my soldier did his job like trained beforehand.”
“She’s still a child!” Gerald was furious about his last statement, despite his hate against the commander, he was relieved to hear Maria was alive. The commander guided him to her room where she was lying in a hospital bed hooked up to an IV, and various machines to keep her stable. She was still out of it, but all her vitals read normal.

“In the upcoming days, you will be granted a trial. Lucky you.  If you wish, you can say your goodbyes to your granddaughter. In the chair where you’ll be spend your last hour. Whatever you say will be recorded for legal purposes.” 
“Do you have any questions, Professor?” 
“I just want to see my granddaughter.” Gerald didn’t fight his consequences anymore, he had his plan ready for the years to come and that involved his greatest creation.  He had requested to have some of his former colleagues to join him in the lab that he use to work at a lot before this island became a prison. He told Maria he loved her, and as him and the other Professors watched her vitals, “you’re gonna go to sleep for awhile, ok? Once you wake up... maybe you’ll still see the beauty in this world. Somehow.” He held her hand, “I love you, my dear..” tears stung his eyes. Young and innocent. She was so blinded to the sins of this world. Oh how he wished he had felt that way. Maria looked up at him, there was a hint of panic in her eyes before falling into a deep slumber. The last thing he requested before being sent away to his death sentence, he wanted her to rest someplace a little more comfortable instead of the eerie Island they were on. 
Shadow too was preserved in a capsule, but remained on Prison Island because G.U.N was wary of how dangerous Shadow could be. He was sealed underneath the prison, to be remained untouched until the appropriate time came.

Today...
Approximately, 30 years later Maria was found in Mystic Ruins when a group of people were investigating, soon she was taken to the hospital to be checked out. She was perfectly healthy...
Maria searched the room, there was a t.v displaying the news, info about the recent events around the world. The longer she watched the more she grew confused. How long has she been asleep? What happened to Shadow? And grandpa? Neither of which she knew the answers to. She got up from her bed, and stumbled to the windows, tugging at the cord to open the blinds. She was blinded by the sunlight. Once her eyes adjusted, she took in the surroundings and was in awe. Not exactly the beautiful forest she saw in books, instead she was welcomed to the busy life of the city. 
Hours, days and weeks passed by and Maria remained in the hospital, the doctors in awe of how she was still healthy after being asleep for roughly 30 years. They ran tests, poked and prodded her. Finally after the second week, the doctors left her be. Then, the cops came to ask her questions. She vaguely remembered much except her former home, save for the hellish events that almost took her life. Of course, she remembered her best friend... Shadow. But why wasn’t he in the hospital with her?  No one knew who she was talking about, of course. Eventually, she was released from the hospital and sent to a foster family had a close connection to the local orphanage. They of course welcomed her with loving arms. 
As she grew accustomed to her now current life on Earth, Maria attended the school located in Station Square, she fit right in with her classmates. She told them stories about living in space, but they didn’t believe her. Unfortunately, she had no evidence to prove her story. She would look at pictures they shared of space at school, then she would burst out where the A.R.K was located (to them it looked like a bright star). Her adopted parents listened to these stories, but was unaware of the existence of this creation.
No one took her seriously when she brought the subject up, that was until her “parents” met with her teacher at a local cafĂ© to discuss her progress in school. “Yeah, she speaks about this place called... The Space Colony A.R.K, I’m not sure where she got this from-” They were interrupted by a tall gentleman in a uniform.
“Excuse me? Did you just say the Space Colony A.R.K?”
Slightly frightened, the wife confirmed his suspicions.
“...Strange. What’s your daughter’s name?“
“Maria...” The male at the table squinted at the taller individual.
“...R-Robotnik?!” 
“Why does her last name concern you?!” He stood up from the table, his eyes accusing the stranger.
“Mr. Tower, what the hell? Leave them be. We must head back to headquarters.” The other gentleman joined them, their uniforms similar.  This so called Mr. Tower muttered something under his breath before leaving with the soldier.

Roughly 10 years later, Shadow was found on Prison Island by Gerald Robotnik’s grandson...well-known as Dr.Eggman, his greatest plan was starting to unfold...

A/N: Hello lovelies, Ive been working on this piece for quite a while now and im finally ready to post it. This was inspired by one of my favorite fics of all time, Good Girl, but given my own little twist. I hope you all love Love Shot as much as I do.

I let a smile touch my lips before taking a deep breath in, nodding once at the crisp evening air before turning to lock the door of my new combined studio and apartment. It was the first day where fall really felt like fall. The scent of rain lingered under the dense clouds and the sun was already halfway gone.  I had moved back to Seoul only three months ago after being gone for only a little under a year. I had originally came to Seoul to get my masters in painting and painting theory,  though I quickly gained enough local fame and connections that no one could quite understand why I left. So I came back.
I stood on the side of the road, my arm outstretched as I wait for a cab. My closest friend from school in the city was opening his gallery tonight and from the posts on my snapchat I could tell a lot of old classmates were already there. Song Mino was the first friend I made when I first moved here. He was talented and refused to fit into the art box the professor tried to force all his students into, as if art should be something someone else tells you to do. It should be your own thing. We had that in common. My style is simplistic. Aesthetic. Easy to look at, but the more you look the more you see behind the top layer. We both strived to challenge the viewer, and because of that we grew really close in our attempt to stick it to the man.
The first show is always the biggest event of an artist's career, and knowing I was seconds away from Mino’s brought another smile to my face as excitement seemed to run through my toes. I couldn't believe how hard he had been working, despite him refusing to let me see anything he had made to showcase.
The gallery itself was breathtaking, I couldn't help but note the obviously more ‘manly’ stain he had chosen for the wooden columns that broke the continuous glass of the front of the gallery. I was the one who helped him make his mind up. I took it in as it was its own work of art before I even walked up the short staircase to the front doors. The tall white walls were similar to my own space, but his had matching wooden floors and walls that were scattered around the room that broke your vision from seeing everything at once. I gave myself another smile as I noticed familiar faces of old classmates and Professors.
It didn't surprise me when I first walked in that I was being asked about the past year and how I’ve been. I was hard to miss, not just because I stood taller than a majority of the women in the room. The constant questioning reminded me why I chose to fail at reaching out when I got back. I made a point to keep trying to catch eye contact with Mino, who only seemed to mask the chuckle from escaping his lips, choosing to leave me to struggle with the boring repetition of the conversations I was having. I finally found the opportunity to excuse myself and all but power walk over to Mino, pretending not to see anyone else I recognized.
“American style!” He said excitedly, pulling me into a hug.
“Don't you ever leave me to the wolves like that again” I whispered in his ear before pulling back. “Mino this is awesome, I’ve only seen a few pieces but im so proud of you!” I said covering up my mild threat before hugging him tightly again. He chuckled with bright eyes before giving my arms a squeeze.  His eyes widened as he remembered the man standing next to him.
“Y/n, this is Junmyeon. He is a curator who graduated a few years before us. I've been telling him about your work.” He said as my attention moved to the slick haired man.
“You were talking about me at your own opening?” I said reaching for his hand to shake it.
“I actually asked specifically about you.” Junmyeon said with a soft smile that slowly grew.
“Oh, wow.” I tried to get out past the sound of my heart fluttering at his radiant smile. “Its very nice to meet you then.”
I was informed that Junmyeon was planning on stopping by my studio in the next few days, which brought on a new wave a nerves I've never experienced before. It wasn't until Mino placed his hand on my back to excuse the two of us could I finally breathe.
“Jesus, why is he so intimidating?” I said looking back over my shoulder as he dipped his chin to take a sip of his drink.
“If you think he’s intimidating your crazy” Mino said, leading me over to the first piece he wanted to show me.
“Did he asked to buy any of your work?” I asked before he could change the topic.
“All of it.” Mino said with a big smile.
“All of it?!”
“Yes. He’ll probably buy a lot of your stuff too. It’s more his style anyways.”
“Oh my god.” I said shaking my head.
I let Mino take control of the conversation as he began to explain the clay molded figure in front of us. I spent the rest of my time there following Mino around, while sipping on my wine and listening to him talk. Even though, as much as I was paying attention, it was hard to get your mind off of Junmyeon.
“Promise me you wont sell this one. I know you promised everything but see if this one could be an exception. I want to buy it.” I said pointing at a tall, organic figure of a woman. The memory of when Mino had made it flooded back as it was my first time to ever pose for another artist.
“Ill ask.” he said smiling before taking my hand and leading me to the next piece.
I tried to stay as late as I could. Mino was off somewhere talking art leaving me once again to be interrogated by my former classmates who all seemed to be very smug about the fact that I had yet to have an opening. It didn't matter what valid excuse I would give, they only cared that it hasn't happened yet. Thankfully I must have looked as uncomfortable as I felt since a hand wrapped around my arm to pull me back. I was just about to thank Mino for coming back and saving me when I turned to face Junmyeon.
“You didn't look too excited about that.” He said looking back over to the three girls who were all staring with confused and almost jealous looks in their eyes.
“Good to know it was obvious.” I said taking a sip of wine. Just as I was about to say something else Mino walked up.
“I think I'm going to head out. I have a pick up early in the morning.” I said, trying not to make it sound like I was at my ropes end with the girls who had added whispering to their staring. I smiled and quickly kissed Mino’s cheek softly before turning to Junmyeon and shaking his hand again, trying to do so without having to hear a protest from Mino.
The air outside sobered me up a little, and because of how nice it was outside I couldn't help but smile and start to walk down the sidewalk. Mino’s studio wasn't that far from mine, just a few blocks down and a horseshoe turn away, so I placed my hands in my coat pocket and began to walk. I let my eyes wander from the fashion that was passing me to the way the lights reflected off the puddles left from the rain that morning. Just as I was really starting to enjoy my walk the sky opened again, soft raindrops falling from the sky.
I sighed, of course this would happen. Clocking where I was I dipped into an alley, deciding the fastest way to get out of the rain in my heels would be to cut through the alleyways. Usually this idea was fine. I would maybe run into one or two strangers, but they were usually restaurant owners who were taking the trash out or sweeping their areas so the sound of voices deeper in the alley didn't really bother me.
“Kai come on! Oh my god no.” I heard a man laugh deeper into the darkness of the alley. But as I got closer to my studios back door I realized the figure I could hardly make out at first were men. Multiple men. Usually this wouldn't bother me but as I got closer the feeling of fear in the pit of my stomach started to deepen and deepen.
I took a deep breath when I started to pass them, my heart beating a million miles a minute while trying to keep a poker face to seem unphased so they wouldn't pay me any mind. Until they did.
“Hey wait!” I heard one of them call. I quicken my step slightly. Not to show I was scared, but just incase. “Wait, where are you going? I’ll walk you home.”
I looked up to see a half lit face walking backwards in front of me. I squinted slightly to try to get my eyes to adjust to what was under the ball cap he wore, but there was no use.
‘Shit’ I thought. I was staring too long. I looked away and quickened my step again.
“Oh come on! At least tell me your name!” He shouted after he stopped, his voice now behind me.
I was able to breathe again once my key was in my door, officially sure he stopped following me. But still the shape of the man's mouth was enough to stay in my brain as I flicked the lights to my gallery on and made my way upstairs to my bed.

“Mino I swear they were so scary.” I said pushing my denim painting shirt up past my elbows before wrapping my hands around the coffee cup that sat in front of me.
“I just don't understand why you didnt call a cab when you left.” He said sitting back in his chair, obviously taking it out on himself for not seeing me off safely.
“I just wanted to walk. I didn't plan on going through the alley.” I grumbled. I hated when Mino tried to school me. He was only a few months older than I was, and although I knew here it meant something different, he also knew that where I’m from it didn't.
“Do you at least remember what they looked like?” He asked, noticing my mood change.
“Um.. kind of. There were like five or six of them, but I only got a good look at one of them. He was a little taller than you, pillow lips
 he was wearing a hat so I really didn't get a good look at his eyes. But he had to have been an athlete of some sort.” I said, my words getting quieter as I realized I would have had nothing to go off of if something bad had happened.
The coffee date ended with Mino once again scolding me, which I knew I deserved, but there was only so much I could take without pouting all the way home. I couldn't help thinking about the man in the hat. Why he was there in the alley with his friends. Why did he follow me, but then give up so easily? It's not like his friends were calling him back. If he was going to bother me in the first place, why give up? The more I thought about what had happened the more I worked myself up. They probably saw me unlock my door. What if they showed up in my studio? What if they came back with more people?
I half thought about texting Mino, but knew there was no point. He would be more worried about it than I was and he had better things to do then baby sit me in my own home. So instead, the moment I got inside I turned my windows down, making sure no one could see inside my studio incase they were passing to see if I was there. It was weird, though, this new set fear was enough to put me into overdrive. My inspiration hit me in my face and I couldn't pull a fresh canvas out fast enough to get the blurred images of last night down.

Music played loudly as I was lost in my own world. A galaxy of light and dark colors swirled and blended into one another across my canvas creating the confusing, but exciting pattern that seemed to get better with every stroke.
I was pulled out of my own head when the sound of someone's voice yelling over the music made me look up. I smiled to see Junmyeon and two other men trailing him into the room.
“Oh! One second please!” I said trying to press pause with the clean part of my palm. “Sorry, I didn't realize how loud that had gotten.” I said wiping my hand on my shirt before shaking Junmyeons hand.
“Its fine, good to see your working so hard because I brought with me two potential buyers.” He said gesturing to the two men on his left. “This is Byun Baekhyun and Kim Jongin.” He said.
I smiled shaking Baekhyun's hand, but the moment I met Jongin's eyes I felt my body stiffened slightly. He was familiar. Almost to familiar. I forced the feeling to be shaken off though, there was no reason why he would have possibly been brought into my studio if he had been hiding out in the alleyway behind the building the night before. Or at least I had hoped. But there was something about the way he smiled at me that made me feel like he knew it too. That he had seen me the night prior too.
I tried hard not to think about it. If Junmyeon was there, I was safe and if he was the man he probably wouldn't try to do anything with two other people there to witness. I turned my attention back to Junmyeon who asked if he could look through my paintings.
“Oh of course. And the racks on this back wall have more in it. I rotate them so the ones that are up are only there because they have a similar theme.” I said before trying to smile as normal as possible and turning back to my easel.
My drive was gone. I was too busy focusing on Jongin, who stood there supporting his chin in his hand as he listens to Junmyeon explain why he liked a certain piece. I took this opportunity to text Mino. Now if any would be a good time to alert him.
Mino, I think the guy from last night in the hat is in my studio with Junmyeon. I don't know what to do.
“Y/n, were looking to fill a room. Do you have any others with these same earthy tones?” Junmyeon said, pulling my attention away from my phone.
“Oh, yes. There over here.” I said smiling, slipping my phone into my back pocket before leading the men over to the opposite wall. I walked them through my color schemes, explaining to them the way I had everything organized just incase they changed their mind on a color or style they wanted. I was surprised Junmyeon and Baekhyun were able to distract me from the thoughts swirling in my head for the rest of the time they were there, but it helped that Jongin stayed behind us, obviously not trying to chime in.
“Y/n, thank you once again for taking us in on such short notice. We will take the one on the wall and the two that have been stored if they are not already spoken for.”  
“Of course, Ill wrap them for you so they’re ready to be taken.” I said turning to make a mental note as to which ones it was.
“Thank you again. We will be in touch.” He said, bowing his head slightly before taking my hand in a soft, yet firm hand shake.
“Thank you.” Baekhyun said sweetly as he took my hand next.
“Good to see you again. I hope to see you in the future as well” Jongin said with a small wink before taking my hand and giving it a firm shake.
The moment his hand touched mine my heart dropped. There couldn't be a way that was really him. The moment the door closed I reached for my phone again only to see Mino hadn't responded. It didn't stop me from quickly typing out another message, though.
It was him. It had to be him. Why else would he tell me it was good to see me again before winking if it wasn't him?
I looked up to see their backs bending one by one to get into the large black vehicle they came in, and once I was sure the door to the vehicle was closed and they weren't looking I quickly walked forward and locked the door again before backing up to my easel where I desperately tried to finish my work before deciding to just give up.
I couldn't focus. Not while finishing, not while making myself dinner, and not while I was laying in bed trying to fall asleep. I rolled to my side and reached for my phone. 3:00am. I sat up, swinging my legs over the edge of my bed, taking my blanket with me and wrapping it tightly around my shoulders. I made your way up to the railing of my room slowly which allowed me look down onto my gallery. I wrapped the blanket closer over my shoulders before letting my elbows rest on the railing so I was more comfortably looking out the window. I smiled to myself finally feeling calm again. I loved how quiet the streets were at night. How all the colors of the lights around seemed to mix together on the rained on asphalt that laid below them.
It felt calm. But as my eyes were scanning I couldn't help but see two figures standing across the street. I squinted my eyes to try to catch a reflection of who the people were only to realize it was Jongin and Junmyeon. I stared at the two in shock as they talked across the road. They seemed to be laughing. I tried to calm myself down, telling myself they were probably just out getting drinks and just so happened to be standing across the street from my apartment. But then I remembered what the time was. I couldn't stop myself from panicking, and just as I was about to turn to hide myself, my eyes met with Jongin’s.
I didn't know it was possible for my heart to drop even further into my stomach as he gave me a devilish grin and wink. I scrambled back to my bedside table where I quickly reached for the remote that controls my space, knocking it off the table before I was able to press the button that made my windows go solid.

Water and Ice- Chapter 2: A Stormy Mission
7 years later, Jupiter was a huntsman and a member of Team ZRVT (pronounced: Serpent) and graduated from Haven Academy. His younger brother was also enrolled to a combat school in order to learn how to control his semblance. Since they moved to Mistral. Neptune eavesdropped at his brother's room and saw him cleaning up his spear; "De Nile." Which also serves as a sniper.
"Hey, Bro, what are you up to?" Asked Neptune. Jupiter looked up.
"Glad you asked. The guys and I are going on an undercover mission. We're slowing down the White Fang from attacking any shipping of dust passing by." He replied.
"Undercover? Cool, I wanna go." He smiled.
"Did you not get the last part when I said, ship?" Jupiter mentions, but Neptune still doesn't understand the last part of the sentence. "It means the mission is
" He then paused having the thought of saying the "W" word.
"You know what, never mind. The thing is, you're not going." Jupiter warns.
"What?! Why not?!" Neptune whines.
"Because it's too dangerous and you need a huntsmen license to get the mission. Besides, you're still a kid." He said.
"I am not a kid! I'm a man now! You know I have been getting good grades so far. I made my own weapon. Behold, the Tri-hard!" Neptune hissed with his arms crossed, then demonstrates his own weapon. "Besides, you get all the ladies, and all I'm getting is a pat on the back!" These words made Jupiter chuckled. "I know, Bro. You just need to wait a bit longer to come with me on those missions. Tell you what, maybe if there's something cool, I'll bring it back as a souvenir?" He ruffled his brother's head, making Neptune squint his eyes until Jupiter lifted his head.
"But can't this be the one time you can take me with you?" Neptune begged. "I'll do what you asked."
"No, Neptune. You know Mom would kill me if anything happened to you. And hey, this is a team mission, and I'm not in charge of this one." Jupiter takes his scroll out and read his leader's text, prompting him to head out of the house immediately. "That's my cue, and this is the part where I make my leave. Wish me luck, Bro!" He waved before exiting his room. Making Neptune pouted. Then the window was tapped and he glanced at the sound. The individual turns out to be Sun. The faunus who saved him from being thrown. They have been in contact through their scrolls since they were younger. The blue-haired boy then pushed the window opened and Sun happens to be hanging on the trees whenever he gets bored and want to eavesdrop on any gossips.
"Dude, have you even tried the front door?" Neptune inquired.
"It's much more fun then knocking the door." Sun replies. "Anyway, I couldn't help overhear what your brother is talking about."
"You really have good ears these days." Said Neptune.
"Big time. Since Jupiter's going with his team, we should be going too!" Suggested Sun. But Neptune is too reluctant to go along with this. "Dude, I don't think this is a good idea. We might get into trouble." He tilts. As much as he wanted to go, he's afraid he'll mess things up. On top of it, putting his family at risk. Sun and Neptune have done much together like picking on fights, sparring with weapons, and more.
"Come on, man. You wanted to become the best huntsman in all of Remnant, do you? We'll show Team ZRVT that we're more than just a couple of kids." Sun urged. "They'll give us the spot in their mission. With your brains, and my ninja skills, we're Team Awesome." With that speech, this seemed to convince him enough to prove to his brother that he can help with his missions.
"Okay, I'm in." He accepts and they fist-pumped together. And they climbed down the tree that Sun climbed on to the window, but not before Neptune closed his brother's window and left a note to let his mother know. Without thinking that she will freak out and would report him missing later on. They reached the ground after grabbing their weapons. "Let's go." Sun said and Neptune nodded.
While Team ZRVT are walking in the forest of Mistral, Sun and Neptune are not far behind. But they remained hidden behind the trees and shrubs. The leader of the huntsmen team is Zerena Slithers, a female faunus with sea blue snake rattle tail while her head and hands are still human with green long hair and glasses above her eyes. Sporting herself with a black tank top, brown jeans, and a yellow bandana. With a whip attached to her belt. The second member of the team is Roth Mandle, male with brown hair that tipped down to his neck, green eye on the left while his right has an eyepatch. Silver armor parts from the shoulders to the chest with a white shirt above and knee pads on his blue jeans. And a sword resting on his back. The third one is Jupiter Vasilias, like his brother, his hair is also blue with a white dress shirt and a grey jacket above. With a De Nile on his back. The fourth is Tyler Shepard, he's also a faunus with wolf ears, dark hair and skin, reading glasses above his head and a red sweater unzipped with a shirt under. With two tomahawks on the back of his waist. The four members are graduates from Haven Academy. To which Sun and Neptune will be going someday.
"Hold on, did you guys hear that?" Asked Zerena. This caused the two younger boys to jolt and lower their heads further in the bushes before they could see them and got quiet. The team looked behind and then sideways to see if there's somebody following them.
"I'm getting the feeling someone's following us." Replied Roth.
"Maybe we're just hearing things, you know paranoia and all." Added Tyler. Everyone but Jupiter remained suspicious that it could be an enemy, or former classmates trying to get the mission done first before them. Or somebody they could've know. But went along with his teammates to focus on the mission.
"You know what, maybe you're right, Tyler. For a second there, I thought it was my brother tailing on us." Jupiter agrees. They keep walking, forgetting like it was all just a hallucination. Much to Sun and Neptune's relief that they did not caught them. "Whew, that was a close one. We should head back, I don't think we should get in the way." Neptune told him.
"What?! Come on, Neptune, we can't look back now. We're probably five miles away from home." Sun refused. "It's not like your parents will find out anyway. We'll just tell them we went shopping for dust or something."
"You know what, that sounds like a great idea
Oh no." He grasped his head in shock.
"What is it now?"
"I forgot that I left Mom a note." He squeaked. This makes Sun frightened even more.
"You what?!" Neptune thought back that he placed the note he written on Jupiter's desk. "Oh, Dude. This is bad, if they found out you're gone, we're dead." Sun said in a shaken voice.
"I'm so grounded." Neptune whimpered. He then shook his head trying to keep his cool, like what his older brother would do whenever he gets into a situation like this. "You know what, forget it. Let's go right now." He then lifted his head up and Sun seems so glad that he's finally taking the streak.
"That's the spirit, Neptune!" Cheered Sun. They continue to pursuit Team ZRVT to secretly aid them on their assignment.
"By the way, have you seen Zerena?" Neptune asked.
"Yeah, why is that?" He replied.
"I've got to be honest, she's really hot." He blushed. "The cool outfit, tail, and hair. Also, her commanding skills." These words surprised his best friend.
"Oh man, I never seen this side of you before." Sun gasped. "Since when are you interested in girls? From what I can tell, you used to be a shy and awkward kid since we were six."
"Well that's the point of being a man, Sun. Chicks dig the rebels. Like we are now. Too bad she got the hots for Jupiter. She can't stop looking at him." He sighed. Remembering of how his brother's team would come to visit for meetings and their parents would give them some time alone. While Neptune on the other hand would sometimes join them. Only to have his eyes on Zerena. But then again, he could tell she only has hers on Jupiter since they're the same age. On top of it all, Zerena is only interested in him because of how trusting he is as a teammate towards her.
"Dude, she's too old for you." Sun corrected.
"Oh right, fair point." Neptune scratches his head nervously.
"Come on, I'm sure there's plenty of excitement where it comes from." He assured him. And they keep walking until they reached the Mistral Pier. It was very stormy in the night. Team ZRVT is wearing White Fang hoodies and masks for disguises. Sun and Neptune are not far behind spying on them from the trees they climbed onto. Neptune is looking thought the binoculars for any bystanders or anything connected in the mission. While Sun is watching from above. Sun looks at Neptune wearing a raincoat and goggles over his eyes. "Neptune, you don't need a coat, it's just rain." He whispered.
"Dude, I just hate getting my hair wet, okay?" He sighed. Sun then spotted two more White Fang members walking behind them and tapped Neptune's shoulder to point to them. He nodded. Together they climbed down quietly and knocked them unconscious. And took their uniforms and putting them on as their own. The submarine arrived and Team ZRVT in their disguises first saluted to the ones in charge of the attack. Then they entered the hatch. Sun and Neptune snuck inside quickly before the hatch closes. Then they hid in the closet before the team or any of the White Fang members notices.
"Alright, any ideas Neptune?" Sun asked.
"I think I can use my scroll to hack into the generator to cancel the assault on the shipping. It should slow them down. The power room should be in aisle 9. This way, Jupiter and the others will defuse the missiles." Sun the softly punched him by the shoulder.
"That's why they needed you, man. Like I said, you got the brains for this."
"Intellectual, okay?" They saw an air vent to go and it brought Sun to kick the hatch and lets Neptune lead the way to the power room. They came out of the closet still wearing the uniforms out of suspicion. Nobody suspected them to be kids are snooping around the sub. The disguise seems to be working. Both Sun and Neptune reached the power room and knocked out the operator. Sun keeps on the lookout while Neptune types down the few codes on the generator. "Anytime now." Sun mutters seeing the guards coming. Neptune then gets up and looks at Sun with a thumbs up. However, the guards showed up. "Hey! What are you two doing here?" One guard questioned.
"We're checking the generator, sirs. Nothing to see here." They both saluted while sweating in nervousness. Then the other guard lets them pass. They exit the power room and Sun nudges at his friend. "Okay, now what?" He whispers.
"I got just the thing." He replied pressing a button on his scroll to shut down the generator. All of the power in the submarine is shut down. It went into nothing but pitch black in the aisles. Back in the power room, the guards are astonished by the blackout. "What the?!"
Sun and Neptune high-fived for this victory, doing a dance. But then Sun bumped into a guard behind him not looking back. "Oof! Huh?" He turned to see the guard and jumped.
"Intruders! Don't let them get away!" He yelled. Another one switch the alarm systems.
"Time to go." Sun said.
"Yeah, let's get out of here." They both ran for their lives. "Aw man, wait until Jupiter hears about this!" Neptune shouts excitedly.
"Catch us if you can, Dummies!" Sun teased the White Fang Members. Three more guards showed up in front of them, the boys pull out their weapons to face them off. Sun whacks the two of them with his staff that also serves as gunchucks. One guard has a sword and swung diagonally but Sun deflects it while twirling it with Ruyi bang and Jingu bang on another.
Neptune holds on to his Tri-hard which glows electronically blue. A grunt aimed his axe, but he slides underneath before he was struck. And blocked his axe. Twirling his weapon above hie head and laced it to his right. The guard then charged at him and made a dent to the wall, causing the walls to crack water inside. Washing away the brute while the boys made their escape. But by the time they went outside, it was still raining. The sub was already halfway from shore and the waves are pushing against the sides of the sub. "Dang it, we need to find Team ZRVT and get out of here!" Sun shouts, and Neptune nodded. "We need to signal for help! I got some flares we can use!" Neptune suggested again pulling out some flares from his pouch around his belt. "Got any lighters?!" He asked Sun.
"Gotcha covered!" He threw a lighter to the blue-haired boy and he lights a fire on top and lit the flare. The flare sparks like fireworks as Neptune waves it in the air with all his reach. Team ZRVT ran outside beating two more enemies upfront. "Looks like our lucky day! This blackout is making our job easier and
Hey Jupiter, isn't that your brother and his friend over here?" Roy asked.
"Oh yeah, I didn't
Wait, what?!" Jupiter is spaced off until he gawked hearing the word, "brother." He turned seeing his brother and Sun. Either they're very brave or in danger. He then walked over to the duo. "Hey, I saw a ship over! And it's heading for us, we're saved!"
"What were you two thinking?!" They heard Jupiter's voice not far from behind and they turned slowly. By the look in his eyes, they were narrowed and so were his eyebrows. A sign that he is not happy.
"Hey, bro. How's it going?"
"How's it going?! That's all you're saying?!" He shouted angrily. "You two are in so much trouble! Do you have any idea how dangerous this was?!"
"Yeah, but we cut the generator. Epic problem solved." Neptune snaps his fingers.
"I told you to stay home. And you didn't listen." Jupiter scolded.
"Jupiter, can we save the family drama for later?! They already led the police to us and that's a good thing!" Zerena interrupted the argument. "Besides, those two are lifesavers."
"You and I need to talk about this later." He sighed, defeated.
"Hey, come on, Jupiter. Don't blame him for this, I'm the one who dragged Neptune into this. I thought it would be cool to bring him along to help you guys on this one. If it weren't for him, the White Fang would've gotten away." Sun came to the defense of his best friend. Until he heard Neptune screamed being grabbed by the same brute with the axe.
"Neptune!" Gasped Jupiter. He grabbed his De Nile and prepares to dash at him. But he has the upper hand to get them to surrender. "Not another step, or the boy gets it!" He warns holding Neptune by the wrist and dangling him in front of the rails. "Give my brother back first!" He demands.
"Lower your weapons first!" Jupiter and the others were hesitant with the need to take down the captor. But he isn't giving up, nor he is scared of them. Five against one isn't enough to force him to release Neptune. "Do it, now!" His fingers are slipping from the collar of his shirt. Neptune looked down at the sea, and his eyes widened. His fears came back to him when his four-year-old self reminded him of the day he was thrown from the pier in Argus. His heart beats nonstop. In spite of the group dropping their weapons and surrendering. The brute isn't merciful enough as he throws Neptune into the death waves of the storm. "No!" Jupiter wastes no time to jump into the water to save him. "Jupiter!" Zerena cried.
Neptune's head hits the water, splashing downward. Once again, his body is low in temperature. The water is pulled into his body for all he can remembered. His eyes remained opened when he sees Jupiter swimming down to him before his time is up. He reaches out to his older brother until a wave push him away by his hand and his aura is glowing blue once again. Back in the surface, a huge cyclone is forming around as it gets bigger like any tornado.
"What's going on?! Yelled Tyler.
"I don't know
" Zerena. "But it can't be good! Everybody hold on!" The sub is caught in the cyclone and spun around the funnel. Until the next morning, his vision is black.

up." A voice called him. His eyes are still blurring with all the water. "Can

me?" His vision finally becomes crystal clear. Sun shook him awake until Neptune coughed off the water inside his lungs. Gasping for the air after the mess.
"Man, Dude, you scared me back then." Said Sun. "You okay?" He said with concern giving him time to breath. His head is still distorted. And he pushes the water our of his ears. He then remembers the events from the other night where the cyclone occurred. He also remembers the mission, Team ZRVT, and Jupiter.
"Ah! Jupiter!" He gasped shaking Sun, desperate for answers. "Where is he?! Where's my brother?! I need to find him! He has to be alive! He
he!" Before Sun could even answer, Neptune's parents arrived in fear for what happened to their sons. They were thankful that Neptune survived. But Jupiter, or the rest of Team ZRVT are nowhere to be found. All that's left is a Submarine. "Neptune! Thank the gods you're alive!" His mother cried and hugs him tightly. And his father also embraces him without a word and tears hit his eyes. Police arrived to arrest the surviving White Fang Members, while the medic examined injuries.
"Jupiter?" He inquires. But by the sad expressions on their faces, he could tell there are the worse news.
"He's gone, Son. I'm sorry." Said his father. The words pierced him like an arrow. His world shattered without his brother's presence. The anxiety flow from head to toe. His brother is gone, either he's dead or captured. Looking back, he thinks that his semblance is at fault for this to happened. He now wishes he never agree to go on this mission. In his head, it was all his fault. For that, he fainted. His father catches him to not get anymore injuries, shocking his parents, and Sun.
"Neptune, can you hear me! Neptune! Neptune!" Cried his mother.
"Somebody get the medic, quick!"

“So, I see you after school?” Nick asked flirty.
“If you’re a good boy.” You smirked.
“Never.” He replied and was about to kiss you.
“Ugh.” Sabrina said. “Get a room.” She joked.
“I agree.” Prudence nodded. “You don’t have to show us that Nick isn’t available anymore, any second of the day, Y/N.”
Nick and you have been a happy couple for a few weeks now. He distanced himself from other witches and tried to show you every day how serious he was about you.
“Ms. Y/L/N, please come into my office.” You heard Father Blackwoods voice in your head.
You knew that kind of spell, putting his own voice in the head of another wizard, but it was forbidden. Why would Father Blackwood contact you this way?
Nick looked worried, “You okay?” but you didn’t answer. You had a bad feeling. “Y/N?”
“I’m sorry Nick, I’ve to go.” You replied. “Father Blackwood want to see me.” You ran out of the room.
Nick didn’t understand what had happened, even Sabrina and Prudence seemed confused.
“Maybe you scared her of already, Nick?” Prudence smirked.

As you stood in front of Father Blackwood's office, an unwholesome feeling grew inside of you. You were one of the most notorious witches in the school and have never had any problems, but something seemed strange.
“Come in, Y/N.” You heard him calling. He must’ve sensed you.
“Good morning, Father Blackwood.” You greeted him politely.
“Miss Y/L/N, I’ve to inform you about something I'm inconsolable for.” He started but he paid no attention to you. “Your parents tried to take you from school. Since you’re one of our most promising witches and your parents didn’t want to be diverted from their idea, I had to take certain measures.”
“Thank you but please forgive me but what’re you trying to tell me, Father Blackwood?”
He chuckled. “Your parents tried to weaken our school, so in the name of our Dark Lord, I killed them.”
You tried to breathe, but your lungs didn’t allow you to breathe. Your heart felt like it was standing still. Your body was deaf and the only thought in your head, "This is a bad joke."
“You alright?” Father Blackwood looked at you. “I did it to assure your education.”
You tried to hide your tears. “I-I.” You needed to answer or he’d kill you too. “I’m thankful. Thank you Father Blackwood, if you’d excuse me, I’ve to prepare for class.”
He smiled. “You’re excused.”
You nodded, turned slowly and closed the door behind you. When you were in safe distance, you ran out of school. You had to go home to see if your parents were dead or if it was just a bad joke.

When you got home, the door wasn’t locked as always.
“Mom!” You shouted. “Dad!” 
You ran through every room, looking for them but you couldn’t find them.
“No, no, no, no.” You started crying.
Everything felt numb and you tried to realize that Father Blackwood had actually killed your family. Apart from your parents, you had no one else. But you couldn’t focus on grieving because you heard something whimper.
“Moon.” You remembered. “Moon, where are you?”
You called and heard Moon whimpering more as you called his name. You heard him in the basement. Your basement was not an ordinary one, it was more of an underground forest. Your parents were gifted game wardens in the witch world. They saved and cared for familiar who no longer had anyone or who no one wanted to have anymore.
Your “dog” came out of the dark corner where he was hiding. Moon was not just a dog, he was your familiar and was half a werewolf.
“You survived.” You cried again because you were relived to see your friend.

You could feel that Moon had guilty feelings because he could not protect your family.
Moon came to you and put his head on your legs. Since Moon was a half werewolf, he was quite tall, but he always behaved like a dog. He always slept with you, actually he was always near you.
“You couldn’t have done anything to stop him, he would have killed you too.” You whispered as you pet him. He whimpered because he felt you were crying.
“I’m glad, I still have you.” You looked at him and saw a letter that hung on his collar. “For Y/N, from Mom & Dad.” You read out loud.
Moon looked worried at you. But you decided not to open the letter yet.You were not ready to read the last words of your parents.

Some days passed, you didn’t talk to anyone anymore. You told the Academy that you were seriously ill and it was contagious, so you had to stay at home for a while.
You were a powerful witch, with that Father Blackwood was right. You already had a talent for spells as a child and quickly invented your own. You protected your house with spells that even mastered warlocks couldn’t use or break, so that Moon and you were safe and could think about what you would do next.
You didn’t want to go back to the academy, you were better in a lot of things than your classmates anyway, but if you didn’t go, father Blackwood would kill you as well.
You got a few text from Nick and your friends but ignored them all. Most of the time you lay in your bed staring at the wall. You feel lonely and lost, yet still so angry.

After a while you went back to school, even though Moon didn’t want to let you go alone, because his fear that you could get killed by Father Blackwood was too big...
Normally, you would have met with Nick as you did every morning in the Library, today you went straight to class. You didn’t say much which was unusual for you, since the teacher would always wait for you to answer questions, the other students couldn’t. After the Academy, Moon would be waiting for you out in the woods so you could go home together. So it went on for a while, until one day Moon wasn’t waiting for you.
You were looking for Moon but you couldn’t find him. An inner panic spread. Did father Blackwood have your familiar now? Was he dead because you no longer provided your knowloedge?
“Moon?” You looked around. “Oh please no.”
“You looking for us?” You heard a familiar voice behind you.
You turned around. “Nick?” You were surprised as you noticed Moon by his side. “Watch out!” You tried to warn him because Moon hated anyone else.
Moon was one of the Familiar nobody wanted anymore. Moon was badly treated by his former owner because he wasn’t a real dog and wasn't a real werewolf either. He didn’t really accept anyone but you.
“We took a little longer to hunt today.” He smirked.
Moon came to you and you hugged him. “I was worried about you.” You whispered and he licked your hand. “Why were you with my familiar?”
“Because he was hungry and you’re acting -” he thought about how he should describe your behavior lately. “Different. So I followed you, Moon noticed me and I was lucky he didn’t kill me.”Moon scowled at Nick to show him, that if he’d hurt you, he’d definitely kill him.
You smiled soft but remembered that Father Blackwood could find you out here. “I’m sorry Nick, I truly am but I’ve a lot on my mind now and i need to go-”
“Then tell me what’s going on, Y/N.” He responded. “I thought you wanted this whole relationship thing?”
“I did, I’m just-”
“Don’t shut me out.” Nick seemed hurt.
You realized that you were important to Nick and he missed you. But you couldn’t talk to him here, not if there could be someone behind every tree, who would listen to you.
“Meet me at my house, tonight.” You replied, then you went with Moon home.

When you arrived home, you just walked impatiently back and forth. You were in love with Nick, but didn’t you know if you could trust him. What if he was a spy for Father Blackwood? Or what if you told him what happened to your parents and he would be in danger himself?
Moon looked at you and growled. You made him nervous.
“Really? You were the one who had to be friends with him, I tried to stay away.” You said and Moon just sighed.
A few hours passed, but then Nick stood at your door. But he couldn’t enter.
“Oh, I forgot to change the spell.” You remembered and Nick looked confused. You mumbled something in Latein, then you took his hand and pulled him inside of your house. Nick seemed to be impressed, yet worried. 
You whispered something in Latein again. No one was allowed to get in or outside of the House, besides Nick, Moon and you.
“Why would you need to create a spell, to keep witches & warlocks outside?” He asked. You looked at him, trying to decide if you could tell him the truth. “Whats going on?” He came to you and took gently your hands.
You couldn’t stop yourself but started to cry. Nick wrapped his arms around you and you held him tight.
After a little moment, you went upstairs with Nick into your room.

“Y/N, you know, you can always talk to me - but if you don’t its okay too.” He spoke soft. “We can just sit on your bed, or make out.” Nick grinned and made you chuckle. “Or we watch a scary movie. I’m fine with everything as long as I can hold your hand.”
“Nick, Father Blackwood murdered my family.” You said it out loud for the first time. A tear rolled down your face but you whipped it away quickly. “He said he did it for me and the Academy.” Nick came to you and looked shocked. “I’m afraid that he’ll come for Moon, or me eventually. Also my parents wrote me a letter before they died, but I’m to scared to open it.”
“I’m so sorry, Y/N.” Nick replied heartbroken, it reminded him of how he felt when his parents died. 
You knew he could understand how you by the look he gave you.
“But he won’t do anything to you.” He assured you. “You’re already more powerful than him and if he’d ever try to hurt you, I’d kill him in a second.” Nick sounded serious.
You looked at Nicholas and saw how angry he was that you had to be afraid of anything. He wanted to make you feel safe. You gently took his face in your hands and kissed him. He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you close to him.
As someone opened the door, you stopped with what you were about to do. You were terrified because no one but Nick and you were in the house. But it was Moon. He didn’t want to be alone downstairs, you and Nick had to laugh.
“But I still wonder why you came along with him. Moon hates anyone but me.” You chuckled.
Moon came to Nick and he pet him. “I’ve a familiar who’s a Werewolf too. Her name is Amalia.” He smiled as he thought about her. “Maybe he sensed that he can trust me.” You smiled as you saw that Moon accepted Nick. “Why didn’t you open the letter?”
“Because its the last thing, I’ve of them” You replied and stood up to show him the letter. “Would you read it to me?”
Nick was honored and agreed to read it. He opened the letter while you lay in his arms.
“To our dearest daughter, Y/N.” He began. “If you’re reading this, it means were no longer with you and we’re truly sorry for it. We wanted you out of the Academy because we think Faustus is planning something against the Dark Lord. You’re one of a kind, maybe the most powerful witch and we didn’t want you to be a part of his plans.” You started crying. “We might have failed but we did everything to assure that nothing will ever happen to you, you’re under the protection of our dark lord now. Moon will keep you safe, be sure who to trust. We love you.” Nick put the letter aside and held you in his arms. 
You missed your parents but were a bit confused about the meaning of the letter. Still grateful for having him. 
Nick felt that you were relieved to have finally opened the letter and that you were very sad. He held you tightly in his arms all night, to show you that he wouldn’t leave you alone and protect you, especially against Father Blackwood.
You knew your Spell to protect the House was safe. But having Nick in the house and being held by him made you feel more safe than any spell ever could.
You knew Nick already felt asleep but you couldn’t help yourself as you looked at him, while Moon was laying behind him. It touched your heart that Moon accepted Nick so much. “I love you, Scratch.” You spoke soft.

Misconceptions about Walter White and Grey Matter
Everytime I see a post/video about Walter White’s backstory before the events of Breaking Bad, there’s always dozens of comments from people slagging off his former business partners, Gretchen and Elliott Schwartz. As far as I can see, a lot of the criticisms are completely unfounded. After finishing my 2nd rewatch of the series, I feel compelled to talk about and examine some of these criticisms
1: “Gretchen dumped Walt to fuck his best friend!!”
I mean, I don’t even know why I need to refute this one? In the restaurant scene with Walt and Gretchen, (’Peekaboo,’ 2.06) she clearly describes the events of their breakup: they were both staying at her family home one weekend until Gretchen caught him secretly packing his bags. She asked him what he was doing but he refused to explain and then simply left. 
In the scene, Gretchen asks 'did I dream all of that?!’ and Walt does not dispute her version of events. Pretty clearly, he was the one who ended their relationship.
2: “Gretchen was cheating on Walt with Elliott!!”
Again, I’m not sure why this has become such a prevalent idea? At no point does Walt accuse Gretchen of cheating on him (and you don’t think that if she had, he wouldn’t have brought it up during their argument?) and although he talks about Gretchen and Elliott bitterly several times in the series, the fact that they became a couple is never mentioned as the cause of his anger. It’s not specified when Gretchen and Elliott first became a couple or when they got married. Potentially, their relationship might have started years after Walt left the company. 
So...it’s not impossible? But there’s no facts to support this idea and Walt’s reactions to the couple don’t suggest that any infidelity took place.
3: “Gretchen and Elliot made their billion dollar company by stealing Walt’s ideas and cutting him out of the business!”
Okay, so this is the big one! The main cause of Walter’s grudge against his former colleagues! The first betrayal that set him on the path to eventually becoming Heisenberg!
And...it’s kind of bullshit.
He first accuses Gretchen of ‘cutting him out’ in Season 2, implying that some shady business deal took place which forced Walt out of the company and denied him his fair share of the profits. However, in ’Buyout’ (5.06) Walt seems to contradict this by telling Jesse that he chose to leave Grey Matter for ‘personal reasons’ and sold his share in the company for $5000. 
Now, with the benefit of hindsight, this was clearly a bad financial decision! But there’s no evidence of coercion or manipulation being used against Walt in this situation and as seen in point 1, he’d already begun severing ties to the company by breaking up with Gretchen. Much as he came to regret this choice later, it was a choice that he made freely.
But! What about Walter’s grand contributions to Grey Matter Technologies while he was there? He seems very eager to claim responsibility for the company’s success, telling Gretchen that they built their empire on his work. And in the penultimate episode ’Granite State’ (5.15) watching Gretchen and Elliott claim that his sole contribution to Grey Matter was providing the company name makes Walt furious. He clearly wants to be given the credit as the man who’s research turned a small grad school company into a billion dollar organisation.
But....is he really? 
Walt’s status as a brilliant chemist cannot be denied. Neither can the fact that before co-founding Grey Matter, he was a contributor to a Nobel Prize winning experiment! However, when he tells Jesse about his time with the company, he only mentions ‘potential’ and a few insignificant pending patents. Walt gives no specific examples of his achievements at Grey Matter, only vague references to ‘my work’ and ‘my research.’ What exactly is he taking credit for?
Moreover, by the time the series begins, it’s been approximately 20 years since Walter left Grey Matter. Is it really possible that a company this successful would still be riding the coattails of a man who hasn’t worked there in two decades?
None of this is to say that Walt didn’t provide crucial research during his time at Grey Matter, only that we have no idea what this work was. This missing information could just be a case of the writers not wanting to bog the show down with scientific jargon etc, but I think the lack of specific detail was a clue about Walt being an unreliable narrator.
4: “They only offered him the job because they feel bad for ripping him off!”
This is often linked with the previous argument, making the claim that they must have ripped him off back in the day because that’s why they offer him the job in Season 1, out of guilt. 
Walt certainly seems to think that this is their motivation. He describes Elliott’s job offer as ‘face-saving bullshit’ in ’Grey Matter’ (1.05) and directly accuses Gretchen of ‘waving her chequebook around like a magic wand’ to make amends for stealing his work. In both instances, he makes these accusations in a fit of anger, showing how much inner resentment he holds towards them both. However, as mentioned above, when he makes his speech to Jesse in ‘Buyout’ he places the blame on himself for leaving the company. In this scene, he is calm, suggesting that he is talking about his past more objectively than in his previous statements.
And then we have how Gretchen and Elliott react to him throughout the series.  When he attends Elliot’s birthday party, the atmosphere during their conversations is slightly awkward....but this is all coming from Walt’s end. When Walt and Skylar first arrive, Walt’s pleasantries are clearly forced but the Schwartzes look genuinely pleased to see him again. Walt is embarrassed by his cheap present of a Yum Good Ramen packet but Elliott is visibly moved by the momento of their college days. And when Walt and Elliott are alone reminiscing about their old professors, they’re both laughing enthusiastically and it’s the first time Walt looks comfortable ...until Elliott suggests that Walt come back to Grey Matter.
You would expect that if the Schwartzes had knowingly ripped off Walter’s research, or had an affair behind his back, there would be some embarrassment/shame from both of them upon seeing the man they screwed over at their party. In fact, you’d imagine they’d want to keep as much distance from him as possible! Why would they invite this man, this innocent victim of their manipulations, to their house where he could tell all their guests about how they ripped him off? 
As well as their behaviour, Walt’s reactions to Gretchen and Elliott don’t make sense either. After arriving at Elliott’s party, it’s clear that Skylar has met them both before, showing that the two couples have maintained contact throughout the years, and Skylar seems unaware of any bad blood between the trio. When Walt bumps into another former classmate, he introduces Walt to his friends as a co-founder of Grey Matter and encourages him to describe his role in the company. However, upon getting this perfect opportunity to brag, Walt only mentions how he came up with the company name. And although his cheery facade at the party is not very convincing, he still accepted the invitation to a party he knew he wouldn’t enjoy and does his level best to appear happy. Why would he bother to do all this for a couple who ripped him off so badly? Why did he not completely sever contact with them as soon as he left the company?
Walt’s resentment towards his college friends is clear to the viewer but Elliott and Gretchen seem oblivious to his anger. When Elliott floats the idea of working together, he asks ‘why not?’ and ‘what’s stopping us?’ When Gretchen calls Walt at the end of 1.05 encouraging him to take their offer, she assumes that his reluctance is due to their former romantic relationship, not because of any professional jealousy. And when Walt argues with her in 2.05, she is completely shocked to hear his version of events, furiously responding ‘that cannot be how you see it!’
Walter seems to hold Gretchen and Elliott responsible for ruining his life but they never show signs of guilty behaviour towards their former partner. Perhaps they are sociopaths who are incapable of feeling remorse...or perhaps they’ve done nothing to feel guilty about.
Conclusion
Apart from one flashback where Walt and Gretchen discuss the elements of a human body, we don’t see any of the events regarding the early days of Grey Matter firsthand. It’s all conveyed by characters discussing the past through their own potentially biased perspective and it’s impossible to regard either Walt, Gretchen or Elliott as a definitive source. However, as you can see from this post and my conclusions, a lot of information can be gleamed from reading between the lines and paying attention to what is not being said.
Given the lack of direct evidence, a lot of this debate comes down to whose perspective is more reliable and the series demonstrates over and over again that Walt is not a trustworthy person. I think you’d be hard-pressed to find a single episode of the show that doesn’t show Walt telling at least one lie. Despite this, many fans who identify with Walt take his version of events at face value, without really examining how his arrogance and sense of victimhood have clouded his perspective.
After rewatching the show and getting a very different perspective on several characters a second time round, I’d encourage any fan of the show who strongly identified with Walter White to rewatch the series and this time, focus on getting into the heads of the characters he comes into conflict with. You might come away with a very different opinion. And a renewed sympathy.

Mors Debitionem Onem Retribuit: Chapter 2

Summary: In which Alm gets acquainted with the rest of the household [Start at the Beginning]
~
Waking the next morning proved to be a difficult venture. Alm was used to thinking of himself as an early bird after having to rise before the sun often in his Ram days. Compared to the his urban-dwelling classmates, he had easily made all the early lectures Engel offered.
Yet here in Vaduva, returned to the waking world felt like mucking through a flooded field. Each step grew more and more difficult as the mud clung to your boots. When they were young and Kliff had shared a book of fairy-tales his mother had bought him, Alm started associated the sticky clinginess of the mire with the tight grip of mermaids dragging sailors below the waves.
It’s funny, he thought by now that he had outgrown those stories. But as he rubbed the sleep from his eyes, it was difficult to escape those flights of fantasy. The outline of his room was hazy and difficult to make out. It would be easy for him to assume he was still dreaming some strange and dark nightmare and slip back into slumber, but just as Alm was about to close his eyes, a flash of sunlight cut across the room.
With a start, Alm rose, pulling back the curtains. Outside the sun hung high in the sky, burning bright and fierce. Good lord, how had he slept in until the middle of the day!? He wanted to just curl in a ball and die of embarrassment right there, but shame wouldn’t save what goodwill he had managed to cultivate last night. In a rush, he tried to make himself somewhat half-decent. Ugh, he hadn’t even changed out of his clothes from yesterday before falling asleep.
He stumbled out into the hallway prepared to get on his hands and knees to apologize for his faux pas. However as he scanned the hallway he remembered he had no idea how he got to this part of the manor. That revelation made him pause long enough for him to also realize just how quiet the manor was. No wonder he had been able to sleep for so long. The few noble households he had visited were bustling things with servants of all kind. The only sign of life he had observed so far had been the Countess herself and that silent maid of hers.
Before he could dive down more rabbit holes of conjecture, his stomach growled. For now, getting food was a good next step. That would likely involve people and help ease his nerves.
With all the courage he could muster in the moment, Alm went to the work exploring the manor. To his relief though, the task proved to be less harrowing than he feared. In the light of day, Vaduva Manor proved to be less gruesome than it had appeared the night before. It might be a little run-down, but it was far from the monster he had imagined it to be. There just never seemed to be enough light for his taste. As he descended down the staircase, he noticed just about every window in the place was curtained shut with heavy drapes. The fact even a flash of direct sunlight had been able to slip inside his room now felt like a miracle after seeing how carefully the rest of the manor was arranged to stave off the sun.
As Alm stepped down to the first floor, he could suddenly hear the faint sound of someone singing. Carefully he followed the voice further into the manor. As he sneaked past locked rooms with imposing mahogany doors, he found the interior blend into the plain, efficient trappings of a servant’s corridor. Unintentionally, Alm began to relax. He was much more used to handling servants than he was aristocrats. As fascinating as the latter were, with the former he didn’t need to use extremely formal language or keep track of any list of rules around them. It would be a nice break after last night.
The singing was louder as he approached the end of the hallway. As he pushed opened the last remaining door its hinges gave a loud creak.
“Excuse me, I--shit!” Alm dodged just in time to watch a knife whiz past him and land in the door, mere inches from his head.
“Oh?” He turned to find a woman with a messy strawberry blonde bun and stained apron studying him. “You must be the new guest Miss Celica mentioned last night.”
“Why did you just try to attack me?” He was doing his best to keep his voice level but couldn’t stop his gaze from drifting back to the knife.
“I wasn’t trying to kill you, I was just startled,” She explained as if talking to a small child. Without a second thought she walked up to him and grabbed the knife. “It’s a good thing I wasn’t holding my sharpest one, it could have gotten damaged.” Idly she plucked it from the wall before extending her other hand. “Name’s Mae Eder.”
“Um...Alm Scafer...” Still a bit shell-shocked and unsure of what else he should do, he shook it. “I really should be going...”
“Pfft, don’t act like you weren’t peaking your head around here just a minute ago. Trust me I don’t like spilling blood in my kitchen, so I won’t be throwing any more knives.” She grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and lead him to a stool next to the counter. “But why don’t you really try to stay on my good side and entertain me while I prepare lunch.”
So she was the cook. That wasn’t too unexpected given her attire, but for all her matronly nagging, she didn’t look that much older than him or the Countess--although he couldn’t help but spy a wedding band on her ring finger. It was difficult to focus much on that though because he was still having trouble ignoring the blade in her hand. If he was anywhere else, he’d demand a more sincere apology, but Vaduva Manor continued to prove to me more than just any other place. For now he’d do is job and try and untangle this curious mystery of an estate.
As he thought to himself, suddenly Alm came to a starling observation.
“Wait a second--” He turned back to the cook. “--you’re speaking German!”
“Oh, Miss Celica told us last night you struggled with your languages and asked that we accommodate you.”
Alm bristled at the backhand insult, but did his best to hold his tongue. “Does the entire household know German? I’m impressed. Does Countess Vadvua have family in the Empire?”
Mrs. Eder laughed, and Alm had trouble telling exactly what she thought was so funny. “Wow you’re exactly like Genny described you--just all hopped up on questions.” She pulled out what looked to be a fish and began preparing it.
“Is there something wrong with that?” Again his eyes were drawn to the metallic edge.
“I just have questions about you too.” She studied his figure without a degree of subtlety. “You’ll answer them, won’t you?” Her smile should have been friendly, but something about it continued to unnerve him.
At this point, Alm should have probably just listened to his self-preservation skills, but social conventions and the need for civility had hijacked his brain at this point.
“I suppose you’re interested in what I’m studying!” He forced on a smile. “I’m very fascinated by aristocracy, particularly in how it functions in newly-born modern nation such as Romania, and how the nation-state in turn influences--”
“--yeah, yeah--” Mrs. Eder interrupted him with a wave of her hand. “But anyway, I’m not the one to ask if you want to go digging in Miss Celica’s past, but German wasn’t that too hard too pick up. There’s only my husband and Genny besides me working here, so she doesn’t mind teaching us stuff when she has the free time.”
Only three servants? For this manor to be so understaffed, either the Countess was a neglectful mistress or there must be some serious financial problems. Damn it, he wish he had brought his journal down with him so he could take notes.
“Now it’s my turn to ask you a question.” She moved from her work and rubbed her hands together excitedly. “Just what type of weirdo would travel across the continent for that mouthful of a reason?”
This time Alm’s laughter was genuine. “You think I’m weird? My buddy Forsyth wanted to travel all the way down to the South Pole. He tried to sell it as part of some zoological research, but the man is a law student.”
To his relief, Mrs. Eder’s giggle seemed to be just as real as his. “I swear you university boys don’t have a lick of self-preservation in you!”
“I think he came up with it purely because his best friend dared him to.”
She descended into another fit of laughter before leaning in towards him. “What’s your excuse?”
A shiver went down his spin. He couldn’t have been more caught off-guard. He did his best to keep smiling and not break eye contact, but when he tried to open his mouth to speak, he found he really only could do those two first things.
Just when he was sure he was gonna faint from it all though, his stomach growled, answering for him.
“Well I’m here because I’m hungry. Hope that clears things up!” He scrambled off the stool, pawing at the counter for some sort of snack to grab onto. However just as his fingers grazed a bowl of some soup or another, Mrs. Eder lunged toward him.
No!” She grabbed the bowl from his hands and held it as far as she could from him. “Don’t touch that!”
Looking back, Alm had to admit he had forgotten his manners in his panic, not even asking if he could have whatever reddish thing was in it. His first instinct was to apologize, but as he looked Mrs. Eder in the eye, he found himself completely bemused. Even when at her most incomprehensible, there had always been a playful glint in her eyes--like a cat playing with a mouse. But now all that had been replaced with a naked fear. And with the way she bit her lip, she was starting to resemble more an animal with its back against a wall.
“I’m sorry,” Alm murmured. “Is there anything I can have?”
“No, it’s...it’s--” She glanced between the soup and the fish. “This is the servant lunch. It would be completely improper for you to eat with us.”
“Well when do you serve Countess Vaduva her meals?”
Mrs. Eder gave him a blank stare. “Umm, come around six? That’s the fastest I can whip you up a meal.”
“Alright, I’ll see you then.” He did his best to leave with some semblance of dignity, but he couldn’t help but look over his shoulder one last time.
He couldn’t help but wonder she might find herself “startled” again.

Once Alm made it back to his room, he fished out a loaf of bread from his satchel. Absentmindedly he tore at it as he recovered from the encounter with Mrs. Eder. Clearly she was not just any regular cook. He was trained never to make assumptions and inference without concrete evidence, but a knife in the door didn’t get anymore solid. Royalty had historically employed servants who could also serve as bodyguards, so in theory he could see lower nobility doing the same.
With his meal done and more questions than ever before, Alm went venturing again through the strange labyrinth of hallways. After he somehow managed to find himself outside he located a young man with light brown skin and a shock of white hair managing the stables.
Mr. Boey Eder seemed just as surprised by his appearance as his wife had, but thankfully this time no sharp objects were thrown. But then he seemed like a guy used to getting scared a lot. His interview was less than ideal considering Mr. Eder had been concerned about getting his work done as soon as possible, but while brushing a midnight-black mare, he let an interesting personal story slip.
“I’ve always had weak nerves. My family is prone to graying early from fright.”
“Oh have they tended to work with the Vaduva family?” Alm could see himself following a similar path if he had grown up in a manor like this.
“No, we’ve been fishermen all across the Mediterranean mostly. I was only hired after Madam Vaduva came to power.”
“I can see why a young noblewoman would need a stable-hand.” He focused on the second mare, this one a pale white, hoping to make his questioning less obvious. “She must enjoy traveling.”
“The Madam is too...” Mr. Eder paused, as if searching for the right word. “...fragile for much extensive travel.”
Alm couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. The Countess he encountered last night had seemed many things--powerful, arresting, but certainly not fragile. The only possible hint of sickness he could imagine was her alabaster skin, yet such a complexion he had written off as common here. For the life of him, he had trouble discerning why it seemed so natural, but the nagging insistence still persisted.
“I honestly would have never guessed...” Alm stroked the white mare absentmindedly. Somewhere he had lost the thread to this conversation; he didn’t quite know how to weave it all together. “Still it must be nice to have a mistress who doesn’t demand too much of you. I know some folks who would die for a position like this.”
He thought he was being civil by pushing the conversation in that direction rather than suggesting his job was unnecessary, but suddenly he felt Mr. Eder’s previously evasive gaze heavy on his body. Alm looked up to find dark brown eyes staring at him.
“Service isn’t something you perform halfheartedly. Madam Vaduva doesn’t demand much of me today, but tomorrow I could get assigned to run to the end of the earth. If all it took to buy my loyalty was coin, I wouldn’t be here. Her wages are made from something much more valuable.”
Previously Alm had been eager to write Mr. Eder as the more harmless of the couple, but suddenly he was aware that while there were no knives in the stable, there were plenty of shovels and pitchforks. Even in the hands of a well-intentioned person he had seem them do a fair share of harm.
This time he didn’t even bother to conjure up an excuse.
Back in his room, he tried to make sense of everything. His previous theory of court intrigue and clandestine meetings had completely collapsed. If the Countess wasn’t traveling to dangerous balls and other aristocratic outings, then who would she need protection from? What would she need protection from? Had this household once been more than a deadly loyal couple and a nearly mute wisp of a girl?
He started wondering how long it would take to schedule a trip back to Berlin, but pride steeled his nerves. What would he tell Mr. Herrman, that a few unsettling servants had scared him away before he had been there twenty-four hours? He hadn’t even had a proper conversation with the Countess yet!
The Countess...remembering her calmed his panic From a purely intellectual standpoint, she was a catch. He had chosen Count Lima as his case study because from the little information Engel had on him suggested he was a fairly average. Sure the fact he was a countryside recluse wasn’t ideal, but even in the Empire, nobility had been fading into the background. He did his job, kept his head down, and had the potential to be plied through intellectual curiosity.
Countess Vaduva was an entirely different creature. Just being a young woman was enough to set her apart from other potential subjects, but it was more than her gender and age that enticed him. She carried herself with a regal sort of authority. Nobility seemed to be more than just a title she had been given, but a quality she knew like the back of her hand. The few disowned aristocrats he had come across in Berlin had been underwhelming and disappointing. She felt like the real thing--something worth crossing the continent for.
Is she truly your Platonic ideal or are you simply infatuated? What kind of researcher are you to end up with a mess like this?
Alm rubbed his eyes. He wished he could unscrew his head and discard his brain for just a few hours, be thoughtless and free. It seemed even his overly long slumber last night hadn’t fully erased his exhaustion from travel it seemed. It would be indulgent to nap again, but he needed something to occupy himself until dinner. Might as well let his body rest after all piling all that stress on it.
As he snuggled back under the covers, he thought of the letter he had been meaning to write to Grandpa. If he craned his neck, he could still spot it peeking out from his overcoat pocket. He had started it thousands of times, now that he was here would the words finally come?
Alm pulled the blanket over his head. He’d save the mysteries and conundrums for a version of himself that might actually have the mental capacity to untangle them.
Although as he drifted back to sleep, a little voice inside his head questioned if that would ever be the case.

When he awoke a few hours later, the darkness of his room frightened him. Not because he was still a child scared by shadows, but because as he blinked away the sleep from his eyes, he remembered Mrs. Eder’s promise of a meal. As he barreled out of his room, he ran across the first clock he had noticed in the entire place. Its plated face informed him that, yes he was not only late, but about an hour late. In a made rush he scrambled down the stairs, only realizing he wasn’t sure where this meal was supposed to take place.
Panic perched itself on his shoulder, as if it was an old friend by now. He had heard Forsyth describe an American game where the player was give three chances to hit a ball. Alm didn’t want to test his own luck and see if it would take more before the manor itself decided to throw him out. He couldn’t fail. Not now, he wouldn’t go back to Berlin empty-handed and lost.
With one last burst of energy, he pushed aside a pair of mahogany doors. As he caught his breath, he found something that managed to be both exactly what he expected yet completely different. A splendid dining table laid before his, cloaked in a pristine white cloth and perfectly set. Candles lit the meal, and in another world the formality of it all would have taken his breath away a second time. But when he looked closer to examine the actually dishes laid out, he found them perplexing. There were no meats, vegetables, or even simple bread-stuff. Jars of all different shapes and sizes were arranged across the table. Inside them he found different jams and preserves. He didn’t know what confused him more, that Mrs. Eder had pulled out an entire dinner’s worth, or that she hadn’t even deemed it necessary to remove them from their cases.
“Is everything to your liking sir?”
This time, Alm couldn’t stop himself but jumping at the sudden sound. He swiveled around to find the quiet maid from before, now speaking full sentences.
“Of course!” He fawned like an idiot. Internally he cringed, wondering how he was expected to survive on jellies alone, but then he noticed one important detail. The Countess was nowhere to be seen.
“Um...Miss Genny?” It seemed he had caught her in the middle of one her stealth escapes, because she was already half out the door when he spoke. In a bird-like manner she cocked her head back to look at him with those wide eyes. “I was told that I was to attend the Countess’ meals. Is this not her dinner?”
“Dinner?” She repeated, as if it was a foreign concept.
“Is she eating?” He tried in his best Romanian.
“Oh, the Countess won’t appear. She says she is feeling under the weather.” With that, Genny made her get-away, leaving him alone with the odd meal.
Not knowing what to do, he plopped down in a random chair. Idly he grabbed a reddish-colored jar. It looked to be a strawberry concoction of sorts, but as he tried to scoop out a bite, its rank scent turned his stomach.
With a sigh he pushed it away. It seemed he was better at finding questions rather than any true answers.
A.N. A bit more exposition and letting Alm get acquainted with the rest of the cast, he's already not having the best of times, but unfortunately he still hasn't seen the half of what's in store for him

Two weeks later Lila sat in the waiting room of the Gynecologist looking at her smartphone through her Facestargram profile seeing funny images shared by her former classmates. Above the smartphone screen appeared a dark box with the word Nathy, followed by a heart and the information of the smartphone. You’ve got a new message.
“Which level are you? 2 or 3?”
Lila typed down the number and sent it to her husband, afterward on the entrance to the waiting room the door got opened and it was Nathaniel, which held his smartphone in his hand and placed it back in his jacket. 
“The bus got a bit delayed” Nathaniel explained.
“It’s fine, it’s also taking a little long here” Lila answered watching Nathaniel sit down beside his wife looking at her, which smiled at him and gave him a hug. “Thanks for coming”
“Is it weird for me to feel nervous?” Nathaniel asked feeling Lila plant her lips on his cheek.
“No, I think you’re just excited about the appointment” Lila explained. “Or did something else happened while you got here”
“No, I just stressed myself to get here ASAP”
“That wasn’t necessary” Lila mentioned, then into the waiting room, a woman doctor appeared with a dossier in her hands.
“Lila Kurtzberg?” The doctor asked watching Lila get up along with the redhead, then she accompanied the couple into another room and sat down together.
“Good, you’ve told me you were pregnant for eight weeks, am I right?” The doctor asked earning a nod from the brunette. “Have you felt anything strange as usual?”
“No, I just feel like I’m experiencing the similar pain I feel during the period” Lila explained. “Haven’t felt anything strange yet”
“Okay, so that’s good for now and your pain in the uterus. Is it manageable?”
“It’s okay for now” Lila answered.
“Yes,” The woman responded noticing down the minor piece of information the Italian woman gave her. “In case you feel insupportable intensive cramps around your abdomen I inform you already to pass by the clinic again just to be safe,” “Thank you”
“How do you spot the difference?” Nathaniel asked Lila, which shrugged her shoulder.
“I think it would be obviously more painful” Lila answered making Nathaniel swallow hard. “Come Nathy, you don’t need to worry about this. I’m already doing everything to keep our baby safe,”
“It’s good for your baby to have such a worrying father” The doctor complimented making Nathaniel grin a little embarrassed. “If you don’t mind, I’d like to do the ultra scan sound on you Mrs. Kurtzberg,” The doctor asked earning a nod from Lila, which followed the woman to a room across the bureau and Lila lied down on the chair next to the device, that is used to do the ultrasound scan. The doctor pulled another chair from the other side of the room close to Lila so that Nathaniel could sit down and see at the screen along with his wife.
The doctor grabbed a tube with gel, then pulled up Lila’s shirt to see Lila’s small baby bump and spread the gel all over her belly.
“The other days I feel like it’s not notable, but now I can see it” Nathaniel mentioned gazing down at Lila’s belly making her smile, then held her hand up at the man, which noticed it afterward he widened his eyes as he found out, what she meant and he gave her his hand admiring her.
The doctor placed the ultrasonic transducer on Lila’s belly and moved it over it while observing at the display various shades of gray.
“This kind of inspired me to paint something alike” Nathaniel mentioned exchanging looks with Lila, which gave him a courteous smile.
“Do you see this bean-like shade here?” The woman asked earning a nod from Nathaniel and a more eagerly from the Italian. “Your baby is right here and it is doing well so far” The woman explained making the couple smile and Lila pecked her husband on the lips.
“That’s great” Nathaniel answered, then he remembered to ask something. “Oh, and can we already see the gender?”
“I can’t to 100% tell the right answer, but the only thing I can show you is the heartbeat” The doctor mentioned changing a few options on the screen of the machine and under the image of the interior of the uterus appeared a line with middle-sized waves and a vertical line showed up on the begin moving forward as the sound of the baby heart was played. Lila beamed in excitement followed by Nathaniel, which had a dumbfounded face expression having it hard to believe, what he was listening to.

.amazing” Nathaniel babbled, while Lila glowed in love with the sound of the embryo inside her.
“And the heart frequency is also good” The doctor mentioned looking at Lila, which had tears in her eyes, then covered her face getting all emotional with the situation.
“Wow, I haven’t seen her this emotional” Nathaniel mentioned a little surprised. “Are those mood swings?”
“It’s possible” The doctor answered. “The first months she’s going to act a little thin-skinned. She’s going to get sad about every little thing, angry or overly excited. You have to know it’s a little hard to deal with and she can’t stop this by herself. The best thing is just in different situations to act right”
“I try” Nathaniel responded placing his hand on Lila’s shoulder watching her and he leaned his forehead on her head.
  Adrien stood along with Jin, Ettore and Rory in front of the cooling shelf of the supermarket looking for anything to eat for lunch.
“Hey is anyone interested to share the Tiramisu with me?” Ettore asked looking at the guys next to him.
“I think Jara loves Tiramisu, so far I know” Jin mentioned earning a nod from the Canadian.
“Wow there’s Coleslaw Salad,” Rory mentioned taking out a plastic package with the salad.
“Has anyone of you tasted poulet-curry salad?” Ettore asked looking at the group.
“I did two weeks ago and it was good in my opinion,” Adrien answered watching the friend take out the package, which from afar seemed to only contain curry sauce in it. “Looks from here like a lot of sauce,”
“No, I can see a few bits in it” Ettore mentioned. “But I hope it’s worth the five euros”
“I can’t decide between the Olivier Salad and the Pasta salad,” Adrien said looking at the two different salads on the shelf.
“I’ll be heading to the bread section. I think a bun or two with these would be nice” Ettore stated walking away from the group.
Jin widened his eyes and grabbed a pack of cheese rosettes and move a little further on the corridor, where he encountered cold coffees and took a dark-colored cafe latte out leaving Adrien back with Rory.
“Oh, these cheese slices are due tomorrow. I could take this and make a sandwich out of it” Rory mentioned looking at Adrien, which took out the Olivier salad. “With Salami it will be perfect” Rory said doing the chef kiss, making Adrien chuckle.
“Good, I’ve decided to pick this, cause it only had two days of expire date” Adrien mentioned. “One thing less thrown away”
“But I thought it gets donated” Rory mentioned earning a nod from Adrien.
“I think it does, but probably not everywhere or everything”
“I think looking every day for the expire date is hard”
“At least in a large store” Adrien added crossing in the next corridor his way with a tan-skinned man and the same Japanese man he met the other day on the bus.
“Oh, it’s Adrien” The Japanese began. “That’s the guy I talked about”
“We meet again Raiden,” Adrien said. “Weird how suddenly we start crossing our ways”
“It’s a good thing, cause I wanted to ask you at some point if you had thought on my offer” Raiden began watching Adrien think about the chat he had with his girlfriend. “And?”
“Sure” Adrien answered. “I just thought on, if Kagami was home today, maybe you could pass by”
“That would be cool” Raiden agreed rubbing his hands together. “I’m totally sure she would like it, that us two would get along or even the three of us”
“As you say” Adrien answered rolling his eyes, while Raiden smirked at little sardonically. “Give me your phone number in case I need to push this off for another day” Adrien suggested unlocking his smartphone holding it to Raiden, where he saw Adrien’s background picture, which contained himself holding Kagami behind his back and the girl had her arms around his shoulders exchanging looks with the blonde smiling at each other. Raiden growled a little bothered with the image, then Adrien pressed on the green call button and on the plus symbol on the display to add a new contact, then Raiden typed down his smartphone number and added his full name on it and clicked on the green tick to save his phone number.
“Thanks” Adrien answered neutrally and opened his smartphone and sent him a thumb up, making Raiden’s phone beep. “You’re going to see it?”
“I know it’s you” Raiden answered directly making Adrien look not impressed with the man’s attitude.
“So we gotta go. Our friends are waiting for us” Adrien mentioned earning a nod from the raven-haired man and Adrien passed beside Adrien along with Rory, which glanced back noticing Raiden’s body posture during the walk look angered.
“Who is that?” Rory asked watching Adrien look at him a little pissed.
“It’s that one jerk, that beat me in fencing a few years ago by cheating” Adrien explained. “I don’t know, if you remember, I told this about a year ago to all”
“Oh yeah, he was also the one to attack you in the restrooms, right?” Rory asked earning a nod from the blonde. “What is he doing here?”
“Apparently he’s on a language stay here and wants to make amends with me after meeting me on the bus”
“Maybe he really wants to be on good terms, how many years is that ago?” Rory questioned seeing Adrien show the age with his fingers.
“You know
..he wished me luck before our tournament this year
..in a bizarre way
.but maybe he’s trying to change”
“Give him a chance and help him out,” Rory told the friend. “It will be the best for you two”
“Sure I try,” Adrien answered watching Rory pat him on the shoulder and move forward leaving Adrien back. Adrien picked up his smartphone to see a message from Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
“Hey Adrien. How are you? I’m inviting you to pass tomorrow evening at Mrs. Couffaine’s houseboat for dinner and cake. I would love to have you and Kagami around. Please answer this until tomorrow night. Greetings, Marinette Dupain-Cheng”
Adrien tapped on the side of his smartphone with his fingers thinking about it, then he typed down a short answer.
“I hope we can make it to it. I need to change a shift with a friend to be able to go there” Adrien sent the message afterward and walked the corridor down following a brown line on the ground, which leads to the bread section.

Food Soul OC Bio: Pocky
Since this got really long, I’m posting it separately from Pocky herself. I’ll do this with all the other Food Souls I make as well ^^ 
Prologue: Mommy
I was
 summoned not too long ago. 
To be honest, I never inherently knew that Food Souls were meant to be fighters. The woman who summoned me was very kind and never let me wander too far out of her line of sight when there was danger in the area. She refused to put me in danger ever. She told me that Food Souls were meant to fight, but that she didn’t summon me to do that. She summoned me not to protect her, but to give her someone to protect. 
She had always wanted a child, she’d said. But for reasons she wouldn’t tell me she couldn’t have one. So she summoned me. 
“I’m glad I was given such a cute daughter,” she would say, and pat my head. “Is it alright with you though? If I treat you like my own child?” 
I’d never known what a mother was, but I didn’t dislike it. So I nodded and let her know it was okay. 
From then on, she treated me like I was her daughter. She dressed me and got me my own room, we would eat dinner together and go shopping together. It was wonderful really. I love my new home, and my new mother. 
Chapter 1: When Summer’s Over
Soon after I was summoned, my mother got a job as a waitress in a restaurant. Every day she would go to work, do a shift, and then come home. We would often eat dinner together either before or after her shift, and she would try to spend time with me on her days off unless she was tired. 
Though I loved mommy and valued how hard she was working for me, I struggled to stay entertained in the long hours she was gone. It was hard to go out when so many people would look at me strangely
 A Food Soul that didn’t fight, and acted as a ‘human daughter
’ Ah, it hurt that they would think of mommy so strangely. She loved me and I loved her. Why was that strange? 
One day, mommy came home quite late. I was still up, playing music from the phone she had given me to stay in contact. Jello was the artist, a popular idol who was also a Food Soul. If Jello was so well received, why wasn’t I? Was it because she was talented? Cute? Popular? I didn’t get it. 
“Pokkin, what’s wrong?” Mommy asked me. “Can’t sleep?”
“I’m okay,” I told her from where I was curled up on the couch. 
“Pokkin
 Is it because you have nothing to do during the day?” 
Ah. She saw right through me. 
“I’m sorry sweetie
 I should have thought about this
 I’ve been so focused working I didn’t stop to think about giving you something better to do during the day if you weren’t going out and exploring.” Mommy sat next to me and pulled me into a tight hug. “Is there something you want to do?” 
We sat silently for a moment. But after I had some time to think, I remembered the school building I’d passed on one of my walks around. I took Mommy’s hand in mine. 
“Can I go to school?”  
Chapter 2: First Day
Mommy instantly enrolled me. The next session wouldn’t start for another month, but that gave me time to catch up as much as I could. I was born into the world knowing how to speak and walk, but I found out that I had to learn how to read and write on my own. Math and science were completely foreign concepts to me. I was reading through things I’d never even heard of. 
Mommy helped tutor me as much as she could. I picked up reading and writing easily enough, but everything else made me struggle. So she made sure that I would be able to get tutoring after school with one of the teachers. As the first day rolled around, I became very excited. Mommy even walked to school with me on the first day. 
I quickly realized that even here I wasn’t accepted much. I looked older than many of the children in the same grade as me, and though I studied hard and volunteered in class I still stumbled behind them. None of the kids approached me to talk to me or try to help. They just kept their distance and whispered. 
Although my teacher was nice enough, I still knew that it was because I was a Food Soul that they were apprehensive. Food Souls were born to fight, but I wasn’t fighting. I didn’t even look like a fighter. I didn’t know how to feel. 
Most days I would spend breaks listening to Jello on my phone. I envied her, really, but somehow her music gave me courage. She was so talented and successful, even as a Food Soul that didn’t fight
 She made me think that I could be strong too. 
With that thought, I studied even harder. For Jello. For Mommy. But mostly for myself. 
Chapter 3: Passing the Test
A couple months passed peacefully. I still struggled to catch up to my peers, but my teacher had started noticing the strides I was making. Mommy would help me study whenever she had the chance, and would check over my homework. Though, she was spending more and more time at home, which worried me. When I asked, she just pat my head and told me not to worry about it. 
One day at school, we were in the middle of a test when a the speakers started blaring our principal’s voice. 
“Teachers, students, remain calm. A Fallen Angel has been sighted in the area. At the moment it isn’t advancing quickly but it is advised that you prepare for evacuation.”
A whisper ran over the room. A Fallen Angel
 I felt so many eyes on me, boring into me. Ah, right
 I was a Food Soul
 Born to fight Fallen Angels
 And yet
 I was just as scared as my classmates. As if sensing my discomfort, my teacher began urging my class to get ready for an evacuation. 
As we were starting to exit the classroom, the worst happened. We were by the door, but the other side of the classroom suddenly collapsed under a massive tentacle. My classmates screamed. Some were frozen in shock. Though I was shaking, some part of me urged me not to stand still. I started pushing at my classmates, yelling at them to exit the room before the rest of it collapsed. 
As we got outside, many of the other classes had evacuated as well. We didn’t have time to wait for new orders. My classroom’s side of the building was suddenly bashed in, spraying dust and bricks this way and that. I was surrounded by screaming but I managed to remain calm. I couldn’t raise my voice over the ruckus but I could at least urge my classmates away from the Fallen Angel standing before us
 
It’s mouth was bigger than I was tall. It’s body was only spiked tendrils. If it swept out once it would have killed all of us. 
I was shaking. Terrified. I wanted to just run and hide and be held by Mommy. But I knew I couldn’t just let the Fallen Angel get to my peers. I watched it sweep one tendril out at a small group of students that had straggled behind. Without even thinking, I dove for them, shoving them out of the way. As rubble rained down on us, I raised my hand to stop it. Without even thinking I must have tapped into my powers, as a grate made from my namesake appeared in front of us, deflecting the rubble. 
We had no time to think about it. They were on their feet running towards the teachers and I could only follow with my small shield to protect them. The Fallen Angel roared and swung again, freezing me in place. As I watched it’s next attack approaching me, I couldn’t even close my eyes and pretend like it was some nightmare—!
The hit never came. A Food Soul covered in golden armor dove in front of me and blocked the hit with their body. They slashed through the arm, and quickly dispatched the Fallen Angel. We were saved
 I fell to my knees and began to cry. 
Epilogue: Pocky 
“Pocky! Are you ready to study!” 
My classmates called to me from one of the tables. Soon after the incident at school, I had been withdrawn from the system. However, Mommy had opened a new cafe that doubled as a study spot for many of my former classmates. Though I no longer went to school with them, they would still come by to study with me and keep me updated on what they were learning. 
“Just one more customer, then I’ll be over!” I told them, bringing our table drinks and snacks. 
“Hurry! You know that it’s unacceptable to be late to class!” 
We laughed together before I quickly ran off to serve another table. The golden Food Soul that had saved me was sitting there with a man much shorter than her. I startled upon seeing her. 
“You’re the Food Soul!! From back then
” 
“You must be one of the students Creme Brulee saved—Ah, no,” the man said, “You’re the Food Soul who helped her protect the other students?” 
“I didn't really help
” 
“Nonsense! She told me that you shielded a group of students that was attacked before she could get there.” 
As he spoke rather loudly, some of my classmates overheard. They came over and surrounded me. One looped her arm around my shoulder. 
“Yeah! Pocky saved us!” 
“When we thought we were gonna be crushed, she put up this big shield in front of us!” 
“If it wasn’t for Pocky, we wouldn’t be here right now. We owe her so much.” 
I could feel my face getting hotter as the praised me. I could barely get a word in to tell them I didn’t do anything, when I felt a hand pat my head. I looked up to see Mommy smiling down at me. 
“Now now, don’t tease Pokkin too much. My daughter’s a strong girl, but she’s too modest for her own good!” 
Despite myself, I laughed with everyone at the table.

Linking arms with Korkie, Maria saluted her fellow guards as they paced through the corridors. With the security camera disabled earlier, she could only hold her head high and smile underneath her helmet as they headed to the corner of the prison, with dimmed lights and an emergency exit clamped firmly.
“Where are you taking me, Mar?” he quivered in fear, as he saw her pulling out a key from her utility belt. “Are you going to kill me?”
“For goodness sake, Korkie,” she shushed him, placing her finger on his thin lips. “Just shut up for a moment. Do you want us to get caught or something?”
“Of course not,” Korkie shook his head as he lowered his voice, his hands cuffed together. “But at least tell me where you’re taking me. I don’t like being kept in suspense. It makes me really nervous, you know.”
“And I don’t like people who talk too much,” Maria crossed her arms, giving him a death glare. “So you either shut the fuck up or I’ll throw you to the dogs. Do you want that, blondie?”
He cracked up for a moment, much to her annoyance. “But you have blonde hair too, Mar. Are you trying to insult yourself or something?”
“Well, your hair is blonder than mine,” she shrugged, trying not to choke on her own words. “And besides, you’re tall, blue-eyed, and an uncultured guy with the same skin colour as milk so technically, you earned the title of a blondie more than I do.”
“Fair enough,” he lifted his shoulders as Maria focused on unlocking the exits. “Besides, I don’t mind being thrown to the dogs anyways. I like dogs very much as compared to cats. They’re adorable and a loyal best friend.”
“Korkie, when I say I’ll throw you to the dogs, I meant feeding you to them,” Maria said with her clenched jaw, unlocking the emergency door. “Now hurry the fuck up before they noticed that something’s up.”
He nodded as he followed her out of the prison, observing the bright lights on Mandalore. He looked forward to nice weather, if only he gets to experience it outside the domed city. “So, how was life outside Mandalore anyways?” he initiated a conversation between him and his old friend. “I haven’t seen you since our graduation from the Academy together.”
“Well, things were fine,” she answered as she took off her helmet. “I celebrated my graduation like there was no tomorrow. I was drinking, partying, spraying those party strings at the trees and shit, you know. Good times, good times.”
“That’s very expected of you,” chuckled Korkie, noticing her dyed bluish-grey hair. “I like your hair, by the way. It fits you perfectly.”
“Thank you,” Maria accepted his sincere compliments. “It’s hard to dye your own hair but hey, it’s my best effort.”
“Well, you do you, Mar. Besides, I know how you’re always looking forward to finishing school just so that you can do whatever you wanted without being bossed around by Ms. Jeanette.”
She burst out laughing as she pressed her nose with her knuckle, only to realise that she was supposed to keep her mouth shut. “Oh, I remember Ms. Jeanette alright,” Maria cleared her throat. “She always tells me not to be a lazy bum whenever I forget to do her homework every single time.”
“Yeah, and not to mention that she makes you pull your own ears and squat in front of the class,” he reminded her schoolgirl memories. “All the excuses you would pull whenever Ms. Jeanette asked about your homework. It’s a classic, really.”
“There was a small fire in the kitchen yesterday and somehow, my datapad got burned by an accident,” she remembered the simpler times. “Also, there was a power outage and I couldn’t save all my homework on time. Those are the ones that I made up in front of Ms. Jeanette. I thought it was pretty funny, really.”
“It was, actually,” Korkie smiled. “We all had a good laugh back then, you know, when the only thing we have to worry about was our grades. But now, my biggest worry is for my aunt and our homeworld. I don’t even know whether she would make it, or whether Almec’s government would spare her, or worse.”
Maria looked down as her shoulder slumped, thinking about the orders that were given to her by Death Watch and Maul. She was merely doing her duty, meeting ends meet for her Mama and Papa, whom she never got to see even after taking over his aunt’s government. What will they say to me when they find my dirty laundry?
“Maria,” he called her name as he took her hands, dragging her closer to him. “Please let go of my Auntie Satine. She was the one who supported me through thick and thin throughout my whole school life. I have a family, you have a family, and I know that you didn’t choose to put my aunt in prison.”
“I know you well, Mar. You’re not a bad person. I know that you’re capable of doing the right thing, even if you know that it’ll get you in trouble,” he frowned, as he let go of her hands and turned away for a brief moment, before looking at her again. “Look, all I’m saying is that it’s not too late to turn back to the right path. If my aunt can change, then so can you and your sister.”
She blinked as she stared at him, tongue-tied. Nodding solemnly, Maria loaned her jetpack to Korkie. “I’ll do my best to help your aunt,” she said. “Besides, you’re going to need this more than I do anyways.”
“Well, see you soon, pal,” winked Korkie, as he gave a pat on her shoulder and left her behind, making her wrap herself with her own arms.
“Satine's accomplices have escaped, including the renegade Death Watch soldiers,” Almec informed Maul, who was seated on his throne. Katrina’s hands were clutched together as she and Vanya exchanged glances with each other, paying attention to the two leaders of Mandalore.
“But we will find them,” he reassured his master. “The duchess appears to have contacted the Jedi, just as anticipated.”
Vanya’s eyes widened as she felt her hands crawling in sweat, dreading the former organisation that were now in shambles due to her actions on Coruscant and the entire galaxy. Which Jedi did she contact? she wondered, taking a deep breath.
“Good,” Maul gleamed, crossing his legs. “You have done well.”
“What of the people?” asked Almec, as he turned to his aide.
“You are the legitimate prime minister,” he answered patiently. “Mandalore is a sovereign planet and you will maintain its neutrality.”
“And what of the Jedi?”
“Because of Mandalore's neutrality, the Jedi have no jurisdiction here. If Kenobi comes to rescue his friend, he will have to come alone.”
Oh my god, she felt her heart beating rapidly. He already lost Lira and Eva, I can’t break his already fragile heart. What is he going to say to me when he realises that I’m working with the person who killed Master Qui-Gon?
“I understand, master,” Almec bowed, along with Katrina. “If you excuse us, we have work to do.”
“Of course, prime minister,” Maul allowed them to leave, with the guards escorting them out of the throne room. Katrina walked along the corridors when she noticed her younger sister in the corner of the hallway, prompting her to clear her throat. “Prime Minister,” she addressed him. “I need to excuse myself for a moment.”
“Go ahead,” he accepted her permission. “Just make sure you make it back on time.”
She bobbed her head as she rushed to Maria, who was hiding beneath her own shadow. She noticed a small bruise on her eyes, making her sigh. “Let me guess, Korkie did this?”
“Nope,” Maria shook her head. “I gave myself a bruise just to let him escape.”
“Of course you did,” Katrina rolled her eyes. “You and Korkie go all the way back to kindergarten.”
“We’re not even a couple,” she lightly punched below her shoulder.
“I never said you were a couple,” teased the twenty-four years old woman, snickering. “Though I’m aware of your feelings towards him.”
“Shut the fuck up. At least I wasn’t rejected by a classmate of mine, unlike you.”
“Whatever,” Katrina groaned. “I already got over my feelings for them, okay?”
“Sure,” Maria brushed it off, before changing to another topic that she so desperately wanted to discuss. “Anyways, did Maul suspect anything about Korkie’s escape?”
She shook her head. “Nah, he’s only focused on the Jedi, so you’re safe for now.”
“Oh, thank goodness,” she sighed in relief. “I was so scared that he would have my head. Also, just your opinion, but do you really like working with Maul and Almec?”
“Honestly, I don’t,” confessed Katrina. “I don’t even know why we are here anyways when we should be at home with Mama and Papa, enjoying a freshly-made pizza from the pizzeria near our house.”
“Exactly, but too bad Vanya is stubborn as fuck,” admitted Maria, fanning herself. “How the hell are we going to convince her anyways?”
“Well, Maul is waiting for Kenobi to arrive so that he could rescue Satine,” she disclosed the information she heard in the throne room. “Maybe he could talk her out of Maul's league.”
“That's actually a great idea, Kat. I'm sure Vanya would listen to her best friend and take his word of advice.”
“Then it's settled,” Katrina clapped her hands. “Now if you excuse me, I'll be in my office.”
Maria gave an okay sign to her as she watched her leave, before shifting her focus on her comlink.
