Have you watched the Korra series? Korra (the main character) has a romance 'arc' with another series, Mako, you think that they would totally be the end game (at least from the GA perspective), but Korra actually gets together with another female character at the end of the series. Most of the time, due to heteronormativeness, people think that a straight relationship would be the default and don't even consider the possibility of a queer romance happening later on (or in the background). Yeah, it started out with a straight couple, and so what lol. Korra and Mako also had a toxic relationship btw, they often fought and weren't honest with each other. Did they love each other?Sure, they were a team after all and cared for each other deeply.... but that doesn't mean that their relationship was workable romantically at some point.

Now, if Byler happens, we'll get the same arguments (as we are already getting anyway) that Byler was forced out of nowhere and the 'main straight relationship of the series got destroyed out of nowhere'. Never mind that the relationship itself was giving red flags and was obviously not going to work out. But god forbid that a queer relationship happens later on in the series.

it does make me laugh when they latch desperately onto a super unhealthy relationship just cos it was/is canon and straight they fr defend it to the death and its like??? okay?

i just hate how much queer ships have to be built up before they can happen compared to straight ones lol. imagine if people said jancy came out of nowhere and it was ruining stancy (sure hardcore stancy enjoyers might say that but GA?? nope.)
