Jacaerys’ eyes widened in surprise at the implication, and you sighed quietly. You weren’t planning on telling him, knowing it would hurt his feelings greatly, but did you have any other choice?

The light of the torches were flickering as you walked down the hallway, your shoes clicking against the marble stones that lined the ground. It was nearly midnight and a lady of your rank shouldn’t be awake at this hour, much less out of her chambers by herself, roaming the halls.
But you were hungry.
You hadn’t had much to eat during dinner, trying to avoid him as much as possible, which is getting increasingly more difficult. Usually, he wasn’t so persistent, opting to stay close to your father during dinner, exchanging information about their culture, or drinking with your brother. Tonight, however, it seemed like he was on quest to find you whenever you were standing idly by, asking for a dance. And of course, you couldn’t decline for no reason, as it would appear rude or even slight, so you busied yourself with other - much less distracting - dance partners. By the time he was approached by one of your guards, inquiring about his training, and you saw your chance to sit down and eat in peace, the table had been cleared for the last course. While you did love cake, your hunger couldn’t be stilled by a mere dessert and you spent the remainder of the night famished, longing for some hearty food.
As if on cue, your stomach grumbled of hunger again, and you picked up the skirt of your night dress, hastening along to the kitchen. When you finally reached the stair case that led down to the kitchens, you hurried down the steps, letting yourself into the kitchen, the heavy wooden door swinging shut behind you.
The kitchen was dimly lit, and you headed to the pantry, searching for bread and butter and if you were lucky, some smoked ham. You were so focused on your search, you didn’t even notice another presence lingering in the doorway of the pantry.
You heart nearly stopped when you finally did see him, your gasp echoing in the empty kitchen.
“Prince Jacaerys!”
The crown prince of the Seven Realms was standing in front of you, arms behind his back and brows raised. You forced your heartbeat so calm down, hand still clutching your chest.
“You gave me a fright,” you said. “What are you doing here?”
“I have been waiting for your arrival. You took quite some time, I was certain you would be here an hour past.”
Your eyes narrowed in slits, growing wary at his words. “And how did you know that I would come to the kitchens at this hour? I do not make it a habit to skulk around the keep at night.”
Jacaerys chuckled dryly, his beautiful dark curls bouncing as he shook his head, as if in disbelief.
“Given how you occupied the dance floor with various dance partners earlier, I did not see you sit down for supper once. You were certain to still your hunger somewhere.”
So he did notice.
You acted nonchalant, turning away from him eyes searching shelves in the pantry.
“Searching for this?”
Jacaerys brought a loaf of bread from behind his back, wrapped in a cloth. Your eyes gleamed, taking a step forward to reach for it, nearly bumping into him as he took a step forward as well, breaching into your personal space. Your heart stopped, feeling his hot breath fanning on your cheeks and the prince’s lips tugged into a grin.
“Ah ah,” he tutted, moving the bread out of your reach. “You do not expect me to give this away without a price now, do you my lady?”
You took a moment’s pause, considering his words with caution.
“… What sort of price do you speak of?”
“How about…” Jacaerys begun. “A kiss?”
With a small breath, you faltered, looking up at him through your lashes, your shoulders slumping.
“Jace.”
“Ah, now we are back to Jace?”
Snatching the small piece of ham and the butter that sat in a small marble bell from the shelves, you walk back into the kitchen, knowing Jacaerys would follow you. Making a stop at the counter, you spread your findings on it, waiting until Jacaerys stopped next you, loaf of bread still in his hand.
“You have been avoiding me.”
“I have not.”
“You danced with every single man at your brother’s name day celebration except for me,” Jacaerys pointed out. You shrugged with your shoulders, an act you would never do in front of other people, but this was Jace.
“I was merely being a good host.”
“Don’t insult me, my lady. I saw your grimace when Lord Ren twirled you over the dance floor while stepping all over your feet with his barbaric dance moves.”
Seven hells, he got you there. You never were able to keep your real feelings hidden when it came to Lord Ren. He was just too insufferable. Pursing your lips, you resisted the urge to roll your eyes. You were still a lady after all, you had some manners.
“Will you give me the bread when I admit you’re right?”
“I should not,” Jacaerys sniffed. “Because I know I am right, I do not need a confession. I just want to know your reasons.”
With a huff, you snatched the loaf of bread out of his hands, reaching for knife in the wooden block. You cut out several slices, maybe with more force than necessary.
“You know my reasons.”
Jacaery is quiet next to you and you dropped the knife on the counter, wrapping the rest of the loaf up again. You can still feel his gaze on you as you spread the butter on the bread slices, knowing he was waiting for you to elaborate, and after a few more moments, you broke, the knife clattering against the wooden surface.
“Jace, you know I… Have a deep affection for you.”
“As do I for you.”
The two of you both skirted around the big word, not quite bold enough to say it yet.
“I do not wish to give my father the expectation to marry me off to you.”
“I’m the crown prince, surely your father would not have any grievances against a match.”
“It is not my father who is against the match.”
“What?”
Jacaerys’ eyes widened in surprise at the implication, and you sighed quietly. You weren’t planning on telling him, knowing it would hurt his feelings greatly, but did you have any other choice?
“You say you have a deep affection for me, and then say that you’re against a match,” Jacaerys said, his brows knitted in confusion. “I don’t understand. Isn’t a match born out of affection and not duty what you have been wanting?”
“Jace, this is more complicated than me harboring any affections for you-” you started, but your words were cut shot by Jacaerys speaking your name.
“If it’s about leaving home, I promise King’s Landing is not as bad as it seems. And on dragonback, it is only a three day journey. When I first left, I got terribly homesick as well, but-“
“I do not wish to be Queen!” you exploded, falling into Jacaerys’ words and he took a step back at your outburst, surprise flickering over his face. You let out a long, deep, breath, hand clutching at your chest, calming yourself down.
The kitchen is eerily calm, neither of you spoke, the only sound is the fire crackling in the hearth. Your voice is quiet when you finally spoke again.
“I am the youngest child of my father, Jace. His only daughter. My oldest brother is betrothed and to be wed in less than a year’s time, the second oldest is courting his partner to be betrothed. I was not trained to rule, to have any responsibility or to represent my house. You are the crown prince, set to inherit the Iron Throne, to rule over seven kingdoms. Seven, Jace. How exactly do you expect me to fulfill the role of a Queen consort?”
Jacaerys’ mouth was parted, as if he wasn’t quite sure what to say. Which you understood. You have never shared your feelings about his position as heir before, how you resented it a little for it was the only reason you couldn’t let yourself be matched with him.
“I’m not fit to be Queen.”
“I… Didn’t know that you felt this way,” he said, his voice tight. “I can’t shirk my duties.”
“And I am not asking you to,” you assured him. “I just can’t… Be the wife you need.”
“What if-”
“Jacaerys, please.”
Your voice was pleading, knowing discussing this any further was no use. You weren’t fit for a Queen. Jacaerys’ face shut down, and he put his mask up, before nodding, ever the understanding prince, much to your luck. “Of course. Whatever you wish for, my love.”
His love.
“I will see you on the morrow.”
Reaching for your hand, he grasped it gently with his, placing a soft kiss on your knuckles, before stepping back, letting go of you. As he departed from the kitchen, you leaned against the counter, your breath shaky. You knew you hurt him, disappointed him, but this was so much bigger than the two of you.
You breathed out deeply, hoping the sorrow would leave, but it didn’t. Reaching for the bread, your appetite had gone, but leaving it would be wasting it, so you bit into your dinner. And as you ate, you couldn’t help but think that the bread tasted like ashes in your mouth.
The next few days, Jacaerys seemed to respect your wishes to keep his distance. You still saw him around the keep, occasionally walking with your father, mostly though you saw him accompanying your brother as they conversed quietly, but intently. You wondered what they were talking about. Whenever you saw him, you noticed that Jacaerys kept his gaze away from took, and you couldn’t help but feel saddened, even though this was what you asked him for in the first place.
You missed his company. Especially at night. Despite the fact that you had never crossed any lines, or did anything improper - spending the dark hours at the library talking, exchanging stories about your childhood, maybe coming very close to a kiss - you were still a maiden. Of course you spending time with him alone was unseemly, and your father would betroth you immediately would he find out. It might be better for you, that Jacaerys kept away.
It was the end of the week when you saw him again. You were sat in the dining hall, at another feast your father had called for. It was the night of the departure of the representatives of House Blackwood, though even if it weren’t, you didn’t doubt that there would still be a feast. Your father didn’t need an occasion celebrate.
Your demeanor was polite, bht curt, hoping that it would deter any lords from asking for a dance, but of course Lord Ren was keen on offering you his hand.
Giving him a polite smile, you let him lead you around the dance floor, already forming some sort of excuse in your head when someone stepped to you, offering you his hand.
It was Jacaerys.
“May I, Lord Ren?”
“Of course, my prince.”
Lord Ren bowed to Jacaerys and you bowed your head out of respect before Jacaery placed a hand on your waist, his other finding your hand. You couldn’t help but feel relief that Jacaerys had freed you from Lord Ren, but you tried to keep your composure.
“I thought we talked about this, Jacaerys,” you muttered out between gritted teeth, as to uphold the image of a happy lady, dancing with her guest.
“We have.”
Jacaerys replied easily, never missing a step as he spoke, despite keeping his eyes on you. Ever the perfect prince.
You turned away, not being able to hold his eyes on you, your stomach churning.
“I am sorry if I hurt your feelings, Jace,” you said quietly, not wanting anyone to overhear you talking to the crown prince in such a familiar way. “I wish things were different- That I was different.”
Jacaerys’ hand tightened on your waist, and he used that to pull you closer.
“I spoke to your father, and he gave his blessing for our betrothal.”
Your eyes widened at his words, as you hadn’t expected them, the shock evident on your face. You had told him about your fears of being Queen consort and he just disregarded them.
“What?”
“I know you’re afraid that you won’t be able to fulfill your duties as Queen, my Queen consort. My mother will teach you, I will be by your side. My mother is set to live a long life and by the time I will inherit the throne, you will be properly trained. And I swear on my life, you will make the best Queen consort the realm will ever see.”
Stunned, you blinked your eyes at him, as if this all was a dream. Never before had you experience someone being so stubborn to prove you of your own worth.
“It hurt me greatly when you told of your reluctance of our match, because I cannot fathom that you see yourself anything less than you are.”
As he spoke, Jacaerys kept his gaze ahead, but he finally he turned to look at you, his eyes softening.
“I will not force you. This is your choice. If you do not wish to marry me, you won’t have to. Just know that I believe in you and what you will be able to do as Queen consort.”
You were trying so hard to find the right words, your feet stopped working for a second and you stumbled, but Jacaerys was quick to tighten his grip around you, keeping you upright.
“I- don’t know what to say,” you admitted.
“Say yes?”
Jacaerys looked down at you, his eyes hopeful and you felt your resolve melt away, especially because it looked he had planned it down to the last detail.
“Yes, okay.”
Jacaerys smiled at you before turning to the side, giving a curt nod and that was all it took for your father thrust his jug into the air, the ale spilling over the rim.
“I am thrilled to announce that Prince Jacaerys Velaryon, heir to Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen of the Seven Realms, has asked my daughter for her hand in marriage… And she has accepted!”
The raucuos cheers that followed after nearly deafened your ears and you hid your face in Jacaerys’ chest - an act of affection you allowed yourself now that the two of you were betrothed.
“This couldn’t wait until we were in closed chambers?” you whispered, pink tinging your cheeks. Jacaerys shook his head, lifting your hand to brush his lips over your knuckles.
“There’s no backing out of it now, my love.”

Would you want to marry me Benji?
Media - House Of The Dragon Character - Benjicot Blackwood Couple - Benjicot X Reader Reader - (OC) Y/n Mason (Misc house) Rating - Cute Word Count - 2237
Writer notes - I have not yet seen S2 I am going to watch it when all Episodes are out to the public. but he was requested so so much I have Wikied Him, I have done research I have watched the scene. But this is my first Benjicot Fic, I haven't seen the show yet, so Please I beg. Be kind to me.
Y/n sat cradled by the roots of house Blackwood's fabled weirwood heart tree, shaded from the autumn sun by the busses of red leaves grown in for the long cool winter, She wore a gown of deep grey with red and black accents, her dark curls in a long intricate braid down her back littered with leaves made from copper as jewellery, a matching copper locket around her neck, She hums a soft and gentle tune a bundle of cloth in her lap as she slowly embroiders
A soft smile crossed Benjicot's face when he sees her there, He slowly approached her, his boots crunching on the leaves. "Y/n," Benjicot said softly. "What are you doing out here all alone?"
"Enjoying the afternoon is all my lord," she answered sweetly,
"Are you not lonely, all alone by this tree? Would you not like some company?" Benjicot said with a grin on his face, sitting down beside her against the roots,
"I'm never lonely my lord, with the gods to keep an eye on me" she smiled glancing at the tree-carved face, "but I suppose company wouldn't be ill wanted,"
Benjicot gave a hum in agreement, looking up at the Weirwood as well, before shifting his gaze back to her. "I'm sure the gods are a wonderful company, but they cannot offer you witty banter."
"I suppose not my lord" she nodded,
"Then I can consider my presence a blessing from the gods themselves," Benjicot said with a hint of mischief in his eyes. He leaned closer to her, his arm brushing against hers.
"Absolutely my lord" she agreed,
Benjicot chuckled, enjoying the feeling of her being so close to him. He was quiet for a moment, their shoulders touching, before speaking again. "What are you embroidering?" He asked, peering at the bundle of cloth in her lap.
"A gift, my elder sister sent a raven to me this morning. She is with child, I wanted to make a her a gift for the babe,"
"That's wonderful," Benjicot said, a warm smile on his face. "A gift is a thoughtful gesture, I'm sure she'll appreciate it greatly." He leaned closer to her, inspecting the embroidered cloth more closely. "What are you making for her?"
"a swaddle and blanket for the baby, I've already picked the softest fabric and now I'm embroidering it, with the heraldry of the houses coming together, so the babe may know of his history, this traditional,"
Benjicot looked impressed and he nodded approvingly at her project. "That's a beautiful idea," he said, his eyes wandering over the embroidery design. "I'm sure it will be treasured by your sister and her child." He shifted even closer to her, their thighs now touching, enjoying the intimacy of their closeness.
"I'm sure she will, my mother keeps threatening to make me a wedding gown," she chuckled,
Benjicot chuckled as well, amused by the thought of her in a wedding gown. "And what do you say to that?" He asked, raising an eyebrow at her. "Do you plan on getting married soon?"
"I have nothing to say, I have very little say in it," she chuckled, "My father will make a match and I shall marry him, such is the way of things my lord," she explained,
Benjicot's smile faltered slightly at her words. "You don't mind having no say in something so important as your future husband?" He shifted his body so that he was facing her fully, his eyes studying her features intently.
"Such is the way," she shrugged, "for my sister's, for my mother, and her mother and her mother and so on,"
Benjicot furrowed his brow, not satisfied with her answer. "But what if you don't like this theoretical husband your father picks? Or what if he's cruel? Or unfaithful?"
"I shall have to do my duty," she said sadly,
Benjicot's expression softened and he reached out to gently brush some of her hair off her shoulder, his fingers lingering on the soft skin of her neck for a moment. "You deserve better than a future arranged solely out of duty, Y/n."
"thank you, my lord, but I suppose it's only a matter of time. My sisters are all wedded and now all either with children or have them. I don't imagine Father will leave me unmarried for much longer"
Benjicot's hand dropped from her neck, his gaze darkening at her words. The thought of her being married off to some faceless stranger left a bitter taste in his mouth. "No offence to your father, but I think he might be blind if he doesn't at least consider me a blackwood as a potential suitor," he said, his tone light but with a hint of seriousness.
she chuckled "I'm sure he considers your family my lord,"
Benjicot smiled at her reaction, glad to make her laugh. He shifted his position, his knee brushing against hers under the fabric of her skirt. "Then I pray that my family is considered highly in his estimation," he said with a grin. "For your sake, of course."
"Why? Would you want to marry me Benji?" She teased,
Benjicot chuckled softly, enjoying the sound of his name on her lips. "And why wouldn't I want to marry you? You're beautiful, clever, kind..." He leaned in a little closer to her, his voice dropping to a softer tone. "It could be a match made by the gods themselves."
she giggled, "That's too sweet of you my lord,"
Benjicot's grin widened at her giggle. "Only speaking the truth." He looked into her eyes, his own gaze warm and affectionate. "In all seriousness, Y/n," he said, his voice low and serious now, "the thought of you being married off to some man who treats you with anything less than respect and kindness... It does not sit with me well."
"no?"
Benjicot shook his head. "No." For a moment he was silent, his expression soft as he looked at her face, taking her in. "I don't wish to see you given to someone who doesn't deserve you," he said quietly. "You deserve someone who treats you well, who respects you and makes you happy. That's how it should be, for someone like you."
"And whom would you suggest?"
Benjicot raised his eyebrow at her question, his expression suddenly amused. "Oh, I don't know," he began, feigning ignorance. "Maybe me?" His tone was light, but the suggestion was serious. Benjicot looked into her eyes, waiting to see her reaction.
She blushed "... I would like that, but it's not up to me whom I marry,"
Benjicot reached out, gently tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Perhaps I could help you change that," he said softly, a spark of determination in his eyes. Benjicot leaned closer to her, his arm now resting on the ground near her hip, his body angled towards hers. "What if you did not have to marry whomever your father chooses?" he asked, his voice low and serious. "What if you could marry me instead?"
"I'd like that very much,"
Benjicot felt his heart swell with relief and joy at her words. A gentle smile spread across his face and he reached out to brush a knuckle against her cheek. "Then I will try to make it happen," he promised, his voice suddenly filled with determination. "I will go to your father and request your hand. I won't let anyone else have you." Benjicot beamed at her. The mere thought of making her his bride had filled him with a sense of joy and contentment that he had never felt before. "You should prepare yourself to have the most obnoxiously devoted husband in the realm," he said with a grin. "I plan on spoiling you rotten, my dear."
"I have no doubt my lord," she nodded, "Are you to see him now?"
Benjicot nodded. "I'll seek your father out, speak to him about this, and hopefully he'll give his blessing." He got to his feet, looking down at her with a slightly anxious expression. "Wish me luck," he said, grinning.
She nodded getting to her feet and taking his hand in hers standing on her tip toes to press a tender kiss to his forehead, "Good luck Benji,"
Benjicot felt his heart skip a beat at the feeling of her soft lips on his forehead. He reached up to touch the place where she had kissed him as if to prolong the sensation. He gave her hand a gentle squeeze, looking into her eyes. "I won't be long. Wait here for me?"
"I will I promise," she nodded, "And last I saw him he was in the courtyard," She smiled doing her best to help him seek out her father,
Benjicot felt strangely calm, but still nervous despite himself. He wanted her father's blessing, he wanted her. "Thank you, Y/n," he said with an affectionate smile. "I'll see you soon." With that, he turned and walked off towards the courtyard.
When arriving at the courtyard he found the place busy as usual, and Y/n's father lord Mason sharpening his sword with the blacksmith, Benjicot approached the man, taking a deep breath and preparing himself for the conversation to come. He stopped a few feet away, clearing his throat to get the lord's attention. "Lord Mason?" he said politely.
He glanced up glancing at the young lord before returning focus to his blade, "Lord Blackwood, to what do I owe this visit?"
Benjicot swallowed back his nerves and stood up a little straighter. "I came to talk with you about your daughter Y/n," he said, hoping his voice didn't shake.
"Y/n? ... Y/n..." Her father pondered, "Ahh short one? Curls like mulberry stem? And tits like a river lands milkman?" That one?"
Benjicot couldn't help the faint flush that crept up his cheeks. "Ah, yes," he said, his voice going a little higher than he would have liked. "That one."
"AHH, do forgive me, my lord. Six daughters hard to keep them straight" Benjicot chuckled at that, the tension in his shoulders relaxing slightly.
"Understandable, my lord. It is quite a large family, after all."
"so? What about her?"
Benjicot took a deep breath and met the lord's gaze. "I've come to request your blessing," he said evenly. "I wish to ask for Y/n's hand in marriage."
"marriage?" He chuckled "You sure? I have two more unmarried daughters you are welcome to take your pick of them,"
Benjicot's eyes darkened slightly at the lord's words. "With all due respect, my lord," he said, "I do not want any of your daughters but Y/n. She is the one I wish to marry."
"you like the tits?" He joked,
Benjicot's face reddened even further, but he held steady. "With all due respect, my lord, your daughter is more than just... tits," he said firmly. "She is witty and kind and beautiful, and I would be honoured to call her my wife."
"... Alright, you marry her, You make her lady blackwood, and you give her children. That a deal?"
Benjicot felt a wave of relief wash over him, followed immediately by a pang of anxiety. This was really happening. "Yes, my lord," he said, his voice steady. "I will marry her, make her lady Blackwood, and give her children. I swear it on my honour."
"then you have my permission to wed her," he nodded returning focus to his sword,
Benjicot felt as if a great weight had been lifted from his shoulders. A wide grin broke out on his face as he bowed his head in gratitude. "Thank you, my lord. You won't regret this, I swear." Without another word, he turned on his heel and walked away, practically jogging back to the Weirwood tree where he had left Y/n.
Y/n sat under the weirwood patiently waiting doing her embroidery,
Benjicot came to a stop a few feet away, watching her quietly for a moment. He still couldn't quite believe that not only had he asked for her hand, but her father had granted it. It all seemed almost too good to be true. He cleared his throat, a wide grin on his face as he spoke. "I have great news, my dear," he said, barely containing his excitement.
"oh enlighten me my lord," she smiled,
Benjicot stepped closer to her, his smile now so wide it was bordering on a grin. "Your father has given me his blessing to ask for your hand in marriage," he said, his voice full of joy. "I am to make you my wife."
"truely!"
"Truly," Benjicot agreed, his eyes sparkling with happiness. He stepped closer to her, resting his hands on her shoulders. "Our marriage is practically guaranteed," he said softly. "Soon, you will be mine. Lady Blackwood." Benjicot chuckled, his heart thumping against his ribcage. Seeing her giggle and blush because of him, just because he had called her "Lady Blackwood" stirred something in him. He gently brushed his knuckles against her cheek, his gaze affectionate. "Have you any idea how beautiful you are when you blush like this, darling?"
she giggled again and wrapped her arms around his torso squeezing him in a sweet hug "You're going to be the best husband Benji,"
Benjicot chuckled, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her closer. Her warmth against his body felt like bliss. he said, his voice full of affection. "Nand you shall be the best wife in all of westeros,”

Invisible | Part 11
Pairings: Bucky x Reader (eventually lololol)
Word Count: 5.1k
Warnings: Angst, stupid people, dramaaaaa
A/N: I aint ready for peace yet 😇🫶🏻
Masterpost
NYU 4th Year
The late afternoon sun was just beginning to dip below the horizon as you exited your lecture hall, your bag slung over your shoulder and your mind already racing with thoughts of your looming paper. The quad was buzzing with students heading off to their weekend plans, and you were lost in your thoughts when you spotted Natasha leaning casually against a lamppost, her red hair catching the golden light.
“There she is,” Nat called, waving you over with a grin. “What took you so long? I’ve been standing here for ages.”
“Class ran late,” you said, rolling your eyes as you walked up to her. “Professor decided to drop a surprise reading quiz on us.”
Natasha scoffed, falling into step beside you. “Reading quizzes on a Friday should be illegal. Anyway, there’s a party tonight at Walker’s place. You coming?”
You hesitated, already feeling the weight of your weekend workload. “I don’t know, Nat. I’ve got that big paper due next week, and I’m kind of behind. I was planning to get a head start tonight.”
Natasha groaned, clasping her hands together in an exaggerated plea. “Come on, please? Wanda already bailed on me, and I really want to see this guy who’s going to be there. I can’t get stuck with the boys by myself—they’ll ruin my whole vibe.”
You sighed, torn between responsibility and the infectious energy of your best friend. “Fine,” you said reluctantly. “But I’m starting my introduction before we leave. No arguments.”
“Scout’s honor,” Natasha said, raising three fingers in a mock salute.
You gave her a pointed look. “You weren’t even a Girl Scout.”
She grinned, undeterred. “True, but I can feel it. In another life, I was definitely a spy.”
You laughed, shaking your head as you parted ways. “Yeah, sure, Nat.”
By the time you got back to your dorm, Natasha was already busy texting, her phone lighting up with each rapid-fire message. You could tell by the sly smile on her face that she was talking to her crush. The thing about Natasha was that she always knew what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to go after it. She was a spitfire, sharp-tongued and unapologetically confident, but underneath all that fire, she was a hopeless romantic. Most guys your age weren’t ready for someone like her, but that never stopped her from trying.
You sat at your desk and opened your laptop, determined to at least get your introduction done before the night derailed into party chaos. The words flowed easily, and by the time you finished your intro and even managed to start your first paragraph, you felt a small sense of accomplishment.
Alright you texted Natasha, I’m done for now. Let’s get ready.
Within seconds, your phone buzzed with her reply: Finally!!! Be there in 5.
True to her word, Natasha burst into your room moments later, her arms loaded with a makeup bag and a pair of heels. You both commandeered Wanda’s bed, laying out a mess of possible outfits, debating the merits of each one as you tried to find the perfect look.
You finally settled on a sleek black mini-dress that hugged your figure in all the right places, paired with short heels and of course your signature neckless: your locket. Natasha went for a bold red jumpsuit with a plunging neckline and sky-high heels.
Standing side by side in front of the mirror, Natasha let out a low whistle. “Damn, we’re hot.”
You giggled, adjusting the strap of your dress. “We clean up nice.”
Natasha’s eyes drifted to the delicate gold locket resting against your collarbone, and she smiled. “That locket… you’ve been wearing it forever. I’ve never seen you without it.”
You glanced down, your fingers lightly brushing over the familiar weight of the locket. “Yeah, it’s kind of a family thing, my mom gave it to be before she passed"
Natasha, smiled sadly her curiosity piqued. “You never did tell me what’s inside.”
You held the locket, fidgeting it between your fingers. “On one side, there’s a quote about love that my great-great-great-grandmother supposedly wrote. My grandma told me everyone who’s had this locket would place a photo of the man they loved on the other side—so they’d always be close to their heart."
Natasha’s eyes softened. “Your whole family sounds like a bunch of hopeless romantics.”
You laughed. “Apparently. Guess it runs in the blood.”
Natasha smirked, leaning in. “So… who’s in yours?”
You hesitated, your fingers lingering on the locket before closing it. “No one,” you said, offering a small smile. “I don’t really have anyone to put in there right now.”
Natasha raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying it. “Mhm, sure. No one at all?”
You rolled your eyes. “Not everyone is as quick to fall head over heels as you, Nat.”
“Hey,” she said, placing a hand over her heart dramatically, “I just know what I want.”
“And what you deserve,” you added with a grin.
Natasha nodded approvingly. “Exactly.”
With that, you both grabbed your bags and made your way out of the dorm, ready to take on the night. Natasha’s phone buzzed again, and she couldn’t hide the excitement on her face as she typed back.
You glanced at her, smiling softly. “Texting your mystery man?”
“Maybe,” she said with a wink. “Tonight’s going to be fun—you’ll see.”
The crisp night air buzzed with the energy of the weekend as you and Natasha made your way down the crowded street, laughter and music spilling out from houses along the way. The distant thump of bass grew louder with every step, and soon you were standing in front of John Walker’s house, its windows glowing and the porch already packed with students.
Natasha looped her arm through yours as you approached the door, her heels clicking against the pavement. “You know,” she said, her voice light but teasing, “I always thought you might have Bucky’s picture in that locket.”
You stumbled slightly, your eyes snapping to hers. “What?”
She smirked, raising an eyebrow. “Come on, don’t act so surprised. You two have been inseparable since kindergarten. Best friends, sure, but there’s always been… something.”
You opened your mouth to protest, but she didn’t give you the chance. “I mean, hey, no judgment. I’m just saying I’m a little surprised he’s not in there.”
You were about to respond, to come up with some half-hearted deflection, but before you could, Natasha grinned and yanked you toward the door. “No time for heart-to-hearts now. Let’s find the boys.”
The moment you stepped inside, the heat and noise hit you like a wave. The living room was packed, bodies swaying to the beat of the music as red solo cups were passed around. You caught a glimpse of a makeshift beer pong table in the corner, surrounded by a cheering crowd. The scent of cheap alcohol and sweat mingled in the air, and someone had already spilled something sticky on the floor.
Natasha scanned the room with a practiced eye, her grip still firm on your arm. “There they are,” she said, nodding toward the far side of the room where Steve and Bucky were leaning against a wall, talking. Steve had his usual easy smile, but Bucky’s eyes flicked across the room, as if he was keeping tabs on everything and everyone.
Natasha released your arm and nudged you forward with a sly grin. “Go on. I’ll catch up with you in a minute.” Before you could protest, she disappeared into the crowd, already hunting down her mystery man.
You took a deep breath and weaved your way through the throng of people, your heart picking up speed as you got closer to them. Bucky’s head turned slightly, and when his eyes landed on you, a slow smile spread across his face. He nudged Steve, who looked up and gave you a warm wave.
Here’s a revised version with smoother transitions and more natural dialogue flow:
“Well, well,” Bucky’s voice cut through the noise as you and Natasha finally reached him and Steve. He leaned casually against the wall, a lopsided grin on his face. “Look who decided to show up.”
Steve chuckled, raising his cup in a mock toast. “Didn’t think we’d see you tonight. Thought you had some big paper to write?”
“I did,” you replied, crossing your arms with a smirk. “But Natasha here wouldn’t take no for an answer. Said it was a life-or-death situation.”
Bucky raised an eyebrow, his eyes glinting with amusement. “Natasha, relentless? Shocking.”
“She’s practically a force of nature,” you said, glancing around. “So, drinks?”
Steve drained the last of his beer and set his cup down with a satisfied sigh. “You two go ahead. I’m gonna head over to the keg and see if I can beat my personal record tonight.”
You laughed, shaking your head. “Best of luck, Stevie.”
Steve winked as he stepped away. “Now that you’re here, I don’t need it.”
As he disappeared into the crowd, you and Bucky stood there in a comfortable silence for a moment, the bass of the music thumping around you. Then, Bucky gave you one of his signature half-smiles, the kind that always made your heart skip a beat. “Come on,” he said, reaching for your hand and pulling you toward the drink table.
His touch was brief but enough to send a spark up your arm. You followed without protest, a small smile tugging at your lips. When you reached the table, he handed you a drink, his fingers brushing against yours—a fleeting, seemingly innocent moment that left your cheeks warm.
“Thanks,” you murmured, avoiding his gaze as you lifted the cup to your lips.
Bucky leaned in slightly, his voice low enough that only you could hear. “I’m glad you’re here.”
Your heart fluttered at his words, and for a second, you forgot how to breathe. But before you could think of a response, Natasha appeared from behind you, clapping her hands together, cutting through the moment.
“Alright, people,” she announced, her tone playful. “What’s the plan? Beer pong? Dancing? Or do we just stand here and look devastatingly cool?”
Bucky smirked, his eyes still on you. “I think we’ve already nailed the last one.”
You laughed, shaking your head. “How about we find Steve before he gets himself into trouble?”
Bucky raised his cup in agreement. “Solid plan.”
With that, the three of you moved back into the crowd, weaving through the crush of people and the haze of music. Even as the party buzzed around you, you couldn’t shake the feeling of Bucky’s lingering gaze—or the way your locket, pressed against your chest, seemed to grow heavier with every step.
"There he is!" Natasha beamed, stopping "Buck you go watch him, me and my girl are gonna dance for a bit!" Before either of you could respond, Natasha was already pulling you away, you turned around glancing over your shoulder briefly to see Bucky's blue eyes smiling at you as he gave you a single wave.
The music thumped loudly in your ears, the bass vibrating through the floor as you swayed with Natasha in the middle of the crowded living room. The alcohol buzzed warmly in your veins, and for a moment, you let yourself forget about everything—about the paper, about the tension that always seemed to linger whenever Bucky was around.
You and Nat were giggling, holding onto each other as you moved to the beat. It was freeing, exhilarating even, until your gaze drifted across the room and landed on him.
Bucky was leaning casually against the wall, his signature smirk firmly in place as he talked to a blonde. She was laughing at something he said, her hand lightly resting on his arm. They were close—too close. Her hair glinted under the dim party lights, and the way she leaned in, hanging on his every word, made your stomach drop.
Your world stopped for a second. The music faded into the background, replaced by the sound of your own heartbeat pounding in your ears. You blinked, trying to shake it off, telling yourself it didn’t matter, but the familiar ache settled in your chest anyway.
You tore your eyes away, grabbing your red solo cup and downing the rest of its contents in one go. The burn of the cheap liquor didn’t help, but it gave you something to focus on. You crushed the cup in your hand and let it drop to the floor, the plastic crumpling beneath your heel as you forced yourself to keep dancing.
“Fuck it,” you muttered under your breath, plastering a fake smile on your face.
Natasha laughed beside you, her movements loose and carefree. She slurred slightly, her words barely audible over the music. “Hey! You… you took your necklace off!”
You frowned, reaching up to touch your neck instinctively. “No, I didn’t.”
“Then where is it?” she asked, her brow furrowing as she swayed in place.
Your hand moved frantically over your collarbone, panic setting in as your fingers found only bare skin. Your locket was gone. “Shit,” you whispered, your eyes wide as you started scanning the floor beneath your feet. “Nat, it’s gone!”
Her hands immediately went to your shoulders, steadying you. “Don’t panic,” she said, her voice slurring but her tone trying to stay calm. “It… it can’t be far.”
But it was too late. The panic clawed its way up your throat, and tears prickled at the corners of your eyes. The music was too loud, the crowd too thick. You dropped to your knees, your hands scrambling over the sticky floor as you searched desperately for the locket.
“Excuse me! Sorry!” you mumbled, trying to push past people, but it was no use. The sea of feet around you made it impossible to see anything.
You backed up, bumping into someone behind you. A pair of hands immediately settled on your waist, steadying you. “Hey, you okay?” the guy asked, but you shoved him off without even looking, your vision blurring with tears.
Natasha was back at your side in an instant, her hands on your shoulders again, her mouth moving, but you couldn’t hear her. The world felt like it was spinning too fast, and all you could think about was the locket—your family heirloom. The one your mother had given you before she passed away. The one that had been passed down for generations. And now it was gone, lost in the chaos of some stupid party.
Tears spilled down your cheeks as you stumbled backward, your breathing coming in short, panicked gasps. You didn’t even realize someone was pulling you out of the house until the cool night air hit your skin.
“Hey, hey,” that same guy's voice said, low and urgent. You blinked through the haze of your tears, and your heart twisted painfully when you saw who it was.
Bucky.
He had his hands on your arms, guiding you away from the crowd, his eyes filled with concern. “Come on, you’re okay,” he murmured, leading you to a quieter spot on the porch. “Breathe, alright? Just breathe.”
You tried to speak, but the words got caught in your throat. Your chest heaved as you struggled to catch your breath, your vision still blurry from the tears.
“Look at me,” Bucky said softly, tilting your chin up so your eyes met his. “You’re okay. I’ve got you.”
His words, his presence, grounded you just enough to pull in a shaky breath. “It’s gone, Buck,” you finally managed, your voice breaking. “The locket… my mom’s locket. It’s gone.”
Bucky’s jaw clenched, his eyes darkening as he glanced back toward the house. “Okay,” he said, his voice calm but determined. “We’re gonna find it.”
You shook your head, fresh tears spilling over. “There’s too many people. It’s probably already stepped on or—or lost for good.”
“Hey,” Bucky said firmly, his hands tightening slightly on your arms. “We’ll find it. I promise.”
You stared at him, searching his face for any sign of doubt, but all you saw was unwavering determination. His eyes softened, and he gently wiped a tear from your cheek with his thumb.
“Wait here,” he said, his voice low and steady. “I’m going back in.”
“No, Buck—”
“I’ll find it,” he interrupted, giving you a small, reassuring smile. “Just stay here.”
Before you could protest, he turned and disappeared back into the house, leaving you alone on the porch, the night air chilling your skin. You sank onto the steps, your hands trembling as you clutched at your knees, praying silently that he was right.
The minutes felt like hours as you sat on the porch, arms wrapped tightly around yourself. Every time the door opened, you looked up, hoping to see Bucky stepping out with your locket in hand. But each time, it was just another person stumbling out into the night, oblivious to your panic.
Finally, the door opened again, and Bucky emerged. His expression was serious, his steps purposeful, but his hands were empty.
Your heart sank, the last bit of hope slipping away. He walked over and crouched in front of you, his eyes meeting yours with a steady calm.
“I’m sorry,” he said softly, his voice firm but laced with regret. “I checked everywhere I could. Asked everyone. It’s just… not there.”
You nodded slowly, your throat tightening as you tried to process his words. The locket—your mother’s locket—was gone. A family heirloom, passed down through generations, lost in the chaos of a party. You tried to speak, but all that came out was a shaky breath.
“It’s gone,” you finally whispered, the words feeling heavy and final.
Bucky’s hand rested lightly on your knee, grounding you. “I know how much it meant to you,” he said, his voice steady. “And I’m sorry we couldn’t find it tonight. But we’ll figure something out. I’m not giving up.”
You shook your head, blinking back the tears that blurred your vision. “It was the only thing I had left of her,” you said, your voice breaking. “And now it’s just… gone.”
Bucky’s fingers gently squeezed your knee. “I get it,” he said quietly. “It’s not just a thing. It’s her.”
You nodded, wiping at your cheeks, but the tears kept coming. “It feels like I let her down,” you whispered, your hands trembling in your lap. “I should’ve been more careful.”
Bucky shifted, sitting beside you on the step. His shoulder brushed yours, and he looked out at the street, his voice calm and certain. “Hey, your okay, its gonna be okay”
You let out a shaky breath, trying to absorb his words. “How can you say that? Its gone,” .
“I know,” he said, his tone understanding. “But your mom wouldn’t want you to carry that weight. That locket—it was important, sure, but it doesn’t change the connection you had with her. You’ve got all those memories, all those stories. She’s still with you.”
His words settled over you, comforting in a way you hadn’t expected. You leaned into his shoulder, letting out a quiet sigh. “Thanks, Bucky,” you said softly, your voice still thick with emotion. “For always being there.”
His arm came around your shoulders, pulling you closer. “Always,” he said simply.
For a while, you just sat there, the distant hum of the party fading into the background. The ache of losing the locket still lingered, but Bucky’s steady presence eased it, bit by bit. He didn’t try to fix everything, didn’t offer hollow reassurances. He just stayed—solid, dependable, exactly what you needed.
You broke the silence, your voice soft and hesitant. “What about that girl…?”
Bucky didn’t let you finish. “Forget about her,” he said firmly, his tone leaving no room for argument. “I have my best girl right here” his eyes met yours, and for a moment, there was something unspoken between you, something heavy and meaningful.
Eventually, you sat up, brushing the last of the tears from your cheeks. You gave him a small, wry smile. “Guess I owe you one,” you said quietly.
Bucky chuckled, the sound low and warm. “You don’t owe me anything,” he replied. Then, with a playful glint in his eye, he added, “Except maybe a rematch at beer pong.”
You couldn’t help but laugh, the sound a little shaky but genuine. “Deal,” you said, the weight on your chest feeling just a little lighter.
Now
Sam takes a deep breath as he reaches the door to your shared apartment, bracing himself. He isn’t entirely sure what he’s walking into, but he knows Bucky isn’t handling things well. He knocks firmly and waits, listening for any movement inside.
After a long pause, the door creaks open. Bucky stands there, looking like absolute hell. His hair’s a mess, his eyes bloodshot, and he’s still in yesterday’s clothes, rumpled and wrinkled.
“Sam?” Bucky’s voice is hoarse, his brow furrowing in confusion.
“Yeah, man,” Sam says, leaning against the doorframe. “I came to check on you. Can I come in?”
Bucky steps aside, muttering, “Yeah… sure. Guess you uh probably know everything already.”
Sam walks in, his eyes immediately catching the shattered lamp on the floor, pieces scattered across the living room. “I know her side, but there's two sides to every coin” The air feels heavy, tense. He turns to Bucky, his voice steady. “She’s at Steve and my place. She’s safe if you're wondering.”
Bucky winces, looking away as his shoulders slump. “Good… that’s good.” He lets out a bitter chuckle, running a hand over his face. “Guess you’re here to tell me what a screw-up I am, huh?”
Sam shakes his head, exasperated. “Bucky, I’m not here to kick you when you’re down. I’m here because we’re friends. And friends don’t abandon each other, even when one of them is making dumbass choices.”
Bucky scoffs, dropping onto the couch, burying his face in his hands. “Yeah, well… I deserve it.”
Sam takes the chair across from him, studying Bucky’s hunched figure. “You look like hell, man. Want to tell me what happened, your version?”
Bucky hesitates, his voice low and broken. “I don’t know. She was just standing there, looking at me like… like she was just disgusted at being in my presence ...and it hurt, i said sorry for the bar comment, but then we started to hash things out, I got so damn scared. So I did the only thing I know how to do—I pushed her away. Told her to leave.”
Sam raises an eyebrow, his tone sharp. “So you let her walk out? Alone? At night?”
Bucky’s face twists with guilt, and he nods. “Yeah, I know, i went after her but she was gone, that's no excuse i know, i put her in danger Sam, i can't believe it….And now she probably hates me.” He chuckles bitterly. “Hell, maybe she should, i do.”
“Don’t give me that self-pity crap,” Sam snaps. “She’s hurt, sure. But you know damn well she doesn’t hate you.”
Bucky exhales shakily. “Maybe she should. All I ever do is screw things up. I push her away because… because I’m too scared to admit how I feel. And now? I don’t even know if I can fix it.”
Sam leans forward, his voice firm. “You’ve got two choices, Buck. Sit here and wallow, or get off your ass and do something about it.”
Bucky finally meets his gaze, his voice barely a whisper. “What do I even say?”
Sam nods toward the shattered lamp. “Start by picking up the pieces. Then tell her the truth.”
Bucky swallows hard. “What if… what if it’s too late?”
Sam’s voice softens. “That’s a chance you’ll have to take, you cant just throw away the friendship you two have, i dont even know my friends from kindergarten, i couldnt tell you the slightest thing about em now….but you’ll never know unless you try.”
Bucky hesitates, then leans back, his gaze distant. “I’ve tried, Sam. More times than I can count.”
Sam frowns. “What are you talking about?”
Bucky’s voice grows quieter, tinged with frustration. “I’ve been trying to tell her for years—little things here and there. Dropping hints, pushing the boundaries, trying to get her to see me the way I see her. But every damn time, she pulls back, like she’s scared of what’s on the other side of those walls she’s built.”
Sam watches him, his expression thoughtful. “And you think she doesn’t feel the same?”
Bucky lets out a hollow laugh. “I don’t know. Maybe she does, maybe she doesn’t. But how the hell am I supposed to keep putting myself out there when she won’t meet me halfway? Why does it always have to be me to make the first move? Why can’t she give me a sign? Something, anything that lets me know I’m not imagining this?” Bucky’s voice cracks, and he rakes a hand through his hair, his frustration spilling out. “It’s like every time I try to get closer, she pulls back. And then I’m stuck wondering if I’m just some idiot chasing after something that was never there.”
Sam leans forward, resting his elbows on his knees. “You’re scared, she’s scared—it’s a mess, man. But sitting here, letting the fear eat away at you, isn’t gonna solve anything. You want her to meet you halfway? Maybe she’s been waiting for you to show her it’s safe to.”
Bucky shakes his head, his jaw tightening. “I’ve shown her, Sam. Hell, I’ve been there for her through everything. I’ve tried to coax her out of those walls, but every time I think I’m making progress, she shuts me down. And now? Now she’s out there, going on dates with other guys. What am I supposed to think?”
Sam tilts his head, his gaze steady. “You ever think maybe she’s just as scared as you are? That she’s waiting for you to stop hinting and just say it outright?”
Bucky’s fists clench, his frustration boiling over. “Why does it have to be me? Why can’t she take the damn risk for once? I’m not the only one in this.”
Sam exhales, leaning back. “You’re right, it’s a two-way street. But you’ve got to ask yourself—if she’s scared, just like you, who’s gonna be brave enough to break the cycle?”
Bucky stands, pacing the room. His voice drops, low and pained. “What if I put everything out there, and she doesn’t feel the same? I don’t think I could handle that.”
Sam’s gaze follows him, his tone firm but empathetic. “Or what if she’s been feeling the same this whole time, but she’s been too scared to lose you? What if she’s been waiting for you to say what she can’t?”
Bucky stops, his hands on his hips, his head bowed. “I can’t lose her, Sam. Not as a friend, not as… whatever this is. She’s everything. And if I’m wrong—if I tell her how I feel and she walks away—I don’t know what I’ll do.”
Sam stands, crossing the room to face Bucky. “Buck, you’re already losing her by doing nothing. This limbo you’re both stuck in? It’s tearing you apart. You’ve got to take the leap, man. Because if you don’t, you’ll never forgive yourself.”
Bucky swallows hard, his eyes clouded with doubt. “And if I crash and burn?”
Sam gives him a small, encouraging smile. “Then you’ll get back up. And you’ll know you tried. But if you don’t take that chance, you’ll always wonder what could’ve been.”
Bucky lets out a shaky breath, his hands still clenched at his sides. “I’ve never been good at this—at saying what I feel. And now, with everything so screwed up…”
“Then stop overthinking it,” Sam says. “Tell her the truth. Not hints, not half-measures. The whole thing.”
Bucky looks at him, his expression caught between fear and hope. “What if she’s already made up her mind? What if she’s moving on?”
Sam shakes his head. “You don’t know that. And you won’t unless you ask. But hiding behind ‘what ifs’ isn’t gonna get you anywhere.”
Bucky stares at the shattered lamp, his mind racing. Finally, he lets out a deep sigh, his shoulders slumping. “Alright,” he says quietly. “I’ll talk to her. But if this blows up in my face, you’re buying me drinks for the next decade.”
Sam smirks, clapping him on the shoulder. “Deal. Now get yourself together, man. You’ve got work to do.”
Bucky nods, though the weight of what lies ahead presses heavily on him. As Sam heads for the door, he glances back. “Just remember, Buck—she’s not the only one with walls. You’ve got a few of your own.”
Wanda clapped her hands together, her tone light. “Okay, enough brooding. How about some brunch? I’m starving.”
Natasha perked up at that, crossing her arms. “I could go for some pancakes. What about the farmers market?”
You sighed, your head falling back against the couch. “I’m down for food, but we can’t go to the farmers market.”
Natasha raised an eyebrow, her tone edging toward irritation. “Why not?”
“Because we can’t go there without Bucky,” you said simply, your voice flat but firm.
Natasha groaned, throwing her hands up. “God, why does everything have to come back to Bucky? He’s not exactly the Farmers Market King. We can survive one trip without him.”
You sat up, your eyes flashing. “Stop it, Nat. Just stop. Look, we’ve all messed up before. Bucky’s not some random guy who screwed up—he’s Bucky, its him. He’s been there for me through everything. We can’t just hate on him because we got in a fight.”
Natasha scoffed, her voice sharp. “I can hate on him just fine. He’s an asshole, and I’m tired of watching him drag you through this endless cycle of misery.”
Your hands clenched at your sides as you stood up, your voice snapping like a whip. “And I’m tired of you acting like it’s so black and white! He’s not perfect, but none of us are. You think I haven’t made mistakes? You think I haven’t hurt him too?”
Natasha stepped closer, her eyes narrowing. “You’re always defending him! No matter what he does, you jump in to shield him, like he’s some wounded puppy. When are you gonna wake up and realize he’s not worth it?”
“He’s not worth it?” you said, your voice trembling with anger. “You don’t get it, Nat. He’s not just some guy who broke my heart. He’s my best friend! You don’t throw someone like that away because they messed up once, or twice, or even a hundred times. He’s Bucky, for god’s sake!”
The room went silent, the weight of your words hanging between you. Natasha stared at you, her jaw tightening before she shook her head, letting out a bitter laugh. “Fine,” she said coldly. “Do whatever you want. But don’t come crying to me when he breaks your heart again.”
With that, you turned on your heel and stormed off into Steve’s room. Natasha grabbed her bag as she headed for the door. Before she left, she glanced at Wanda and Steve, her voice sharp. “All I do is try to help, but if she wants to keep sticking up for his dumb ass, that’s on her, leave me out of it next time.”
The door slammed behind her, leaving an uncomfortable silence in her wake.
Wanda and Steve exchanged glances, both looking a little shell-shocked. Finally, Wanda sighed, brushing her hair back. “I’ll go after Nat,” she said quietly. She turned to Steve, her brow raised. “You got her?”
Steve nodded, giving Wanda a small, reassuring smile. “Yeah, I’ve got her.”
Once Wanda left, Steve turned to. Steve hesitated for a moment before following. He knocked gently on the door. “Hey… you okay?”
There was no answer at first, just the sound of you pacing. Finally, your voice came through, quieter but still tense. “I’m fine, Steve. Just… need a minute.”
Steve leaned against the doorframe, his voice soft. “Take all the time you need. I’m here, I’ll always be right here…”

Old Bloodhounds
P37 | this is the push back, not the step back
TWs : mentions of child prostitution, mentions of minor/adult relationship, mentions of coercion and manipulation
At 1:30 a.m. you arrived at the address he gave you.
Yoonsu was definitely playing a sick fucking joke on you, you were sure of it. Crammed in between a tteokbokki restaurant and, sickly enough, a children's daycare centre, was a butcher chop that looked suspiciously clean. A bald headed guy crouched at the front having a smoke took one look at you and said, "You're the bitch Yoonsu's waiting for, huh."
Your blood sizzled, but you nodded nonetheless.
He nodded his head at the butcher shop, cigarette hanging at the corner of his lips.
"Past the counter, take a right. Enter the unlabeled door."
Once you opened the unlabeled door, you felt like some meaty motherfucker punched you in the gut. It was a strip club, women all around were barely clothed and dancing up the pole. You hear a whistle from your right.
"Yoohoo, y/nnie. Come take a seat here." It was dark, you could barely see his face, but the voice was unmistakable.
You sat on the sofa, farthest away from where he was sitting. He chuckled at your stubborn behaviour, while you ignored how the other slimy men in the club were eyeing you up and down. You wore long pajama pants, a tank top fully covered by your zipped up hoodie—how could they still ogle over you that way? It was disgusting—you wanted to get out.
He moved to sit beside you, one of his arms around your shoulder. When you could finally see him clearly, you saw whose face he was wearing and pushed him.
This sick, sick bastard. This sick fucking bastard.
"Oh, come on. Don't like my new face? You know, I only got this one because I'm trying to avoid the cops," He sneered—Junyoung's face sneered—"You always bitched about how much you missed him while you were still my dancer."
You froze at the memory, of you dancing on the pole in front of the wretched men he used to entertain. They used to coo at how young you looked, at the fat still clinging on your cheeks despite the starvation you suffered through.
You were just a kid, and Yoonsu had made you work as a pole dancer to pay your stepfather's debt off.
His free hand that wasn't hanging off your shoulder moved to his pockets, pulling out a white gold locket you haven't seen in years. He opened it to show the bug he implanted within it as he took in your reaction. Your face frozen, as ice cold panic took hold of your body, momentary rigor mortis setting into your muscles.
You remember that locket, the locket Yoonsu himself had given you with the promise once you paid off your dead stepfather's debt, he'd marry you and take care of you.
"Remember this, y/nnie? I couldn't give you a ring because you'd easily lose it, so I gave you this instead to symbolise my promise. Funny it was you who broke it."
You were 16 years old turning 17, he had been 27.
You thought being his lover was a dream come true, but through Detective Do's help, you finally saw it as him preying on a desperate teenage girl isolated from the people she loved and needed.
He wore the necklace around you as he explained what he planned to do to you, "I see that you're living a good life now. Reunited with your beloved brother while still keeping the two older brother figures that came to you 3 ½ years ago—" once he clasped it, he started to pull on the locket, choking you from behind, "—after you let Detective Do destroy my empire, arrest my loyal men. You got to live a good life after you caused my mother and sister to kill themselves because everyone they knew ostracized them for having me as their family."
He released his grip on the locket, only to grip on the collar of your hoodie so you faced him directly, knowing how sick it made you to look at him as he wore Junyoung's face.
"I am going to make sure everyone you have ever loved walks away from you. I'll make you ruin what you have and should be having, because I can't fucking stand it. To see you so happy after you ruined my life. So listen closely—under no circumstances are you to take this locket off. You're not allowed to turn your phone off either—because if you do, I'm sharing those pictures of you pole dancing. You will always have to read and answer my texts in a 3 minute time window, or I'm sharing those pictures. You will do as I say, or I'm sharing those pictures. One step to the police station—I am sharing those pictures. Do you understand?"
Tears were streaming down your face and he gripped on your jaw, fingers pushing into the meat of your cheeks.
"Never let those other fuckers catch on that I'm onto you, y/nnie. Since you did a great job at acting like you actually loved me back then, make sure you act like there's nothing wrong in front of your people. If I see that you receive a text along the lines of—'are you okay? is anything wrong? are you in trouble?'—I will immediately contact the media and blab how beloved national darling Jeong Jaehyun has a sister that used to pole dance in illegal nightclubs and dated a loanshark while she was just a teenager. You know how korean netizens feel about former iljins, right?" He spoke cruelly, pushing your face away right after.
You were practically sobbing on the sofa, and he threw a piece of used tissue at your face, obviously annoyed at your crying. He got close to you again, hands guiding your face gently this time, his disgusting hands on your cheek as he made you look up at him, as he looked down at you with a twisted smile on his face, eyes void of any trace of humanity and soul.
"Wipe those fucking tears off and go back home, y/nnie. The real fun starts tomorrow, so stay alert for my texts, okay? Be careful on your way back home." He spoke in a cooing manner, patting your cheeks before giving one last kiss on the side of your head.
As you walked back to New Axis, your tears drying in the cold September night air, the dread piled over when you realised that he was going to ruin all of this for you.
Just right after you were beginning to open up to your brother and friends, making your Geonwoo and Woojin proud of your progress. Just when you were about to get your life together again.
You opened the door of Yuno's room, eyes wide as you watched him sleep on the bed. You were there just staring at him sleeping for a good 10 minutes.
When you finally got back to your room, you stared at your reflection in the mirror, staring at the locket hanging around your neck.
It looked so much like a noose.

some stuff about canon levi confessing? I picture he wouldn’t confess in words or something like that, but i’d really like to hear what you think. loved the pda story about him btw. thank u so much
Canon Levi is seen as cold, quiet, stoic, but very observant and caring toward others when you least expected it.
Nobody could tell that the infamously strict Captain Levi was in love. I mean, who had the guts to stare at his face as his eyes lingered on you slightly longer as you marched past him, or questioned that the Captain insisted you to make tea for the entire team and gave minimal comments on how you could improve your tea brewing skills. Not a single living soul saw Captain Levi in his office rehearsing the conversation he wanted to have with you before he sent Eren to get you. But in the end, he only asked you to carry the reports to Commander Erwin's office because he stuttered.
Levi didn't care about what he was wearing. He had his uniform jacket on most of the time anyway. But it caught his eyes whenever you wore a new shirt or a pair of new pants. His brows frowned when other guy cadets complimented your new clothes, but he couldn't bring himself to tell you you looked better in the old light blue shirt you got months ago.
So he did what he did best. He trained you hard. Only when you were dangling on the maneuver gear with your legs lifted from the ground, Levi could bark orders to you freely.
Go faster! Please survive.
Take sharp turns, pull back your strings and push yourself with the gas pressure! Come back with me.
Make sure you check your gas level before you get on your horse. Come back to me. Please.
Levi studied your postures, your fighting habits, and your careless mistakes. His tongue spitted the most venomous words, but his eyes pouring the deepest worries and concerns he had for you.
No, Levi couldn't say those words to you. He couldn't tell you how much he wanted to touch your skin, or hold your hands, or pull you into his arms. But when the nights got extra difficult to go through alone, Levi sat with you in silence. The fire crackling softly. Your mind somewhere else in the skies. Your body felt too heavy to move. Levi sat there, quietly replacing cold tea with warm ones, waiting patiently for you to drink it. And when you did, the warm tea flowed through your chest, and you exhaled deeply. Your shoulders finally dropped and you were ready to take on another day. Levi's heart eased too. How could you realise that he too held a breath for so long and let it go the moment you let yours go too? You wouldn't see how his brows softened when you told him you felt better and his tea soothed your soul. He said "clean up the table before breakfast, brat" but he meant "don't go where i can't follow".
It wasn't until Eren came back and awakened all the titans in the wall, Paradise Island went into a chaotic state. The Yeagerists took over the military HQ and declared that Hange and Levi had died. Heartbroken and shocked from the news, you hid away as they celebrated the beginning of a new era. You wandered into Levi's office, quietly going through his things before those untamed young cadets destroy it for no reason.
Beneath a stack of death certificates of the cadets who used to be in the same tea with Levi, you found a photograph you took in Marley. It was a group photo that Hange insisted on getting. But you noticed that there was a heart shaped hole on where your face was supposed to be. And then it hit you. Levi kept you in a locket and brought it with him to war.
Tears streamed down your face. Your heart ached and you struggled to breath. Grabbing on the edges of the photograph, you blinked the tears away, trying your best to look at Levi in the photograph. His brows were not frown, he seemed relaxed, like he had planned to keep you in the locket all this while. As if he was saying, "you found my secret, brat."
.
When it was all over, and the night sky was bright with stars, you sat next to Levi with his tea brewing by the side. Levi pulled the locket from his breast pocket and gently dropped it in your palm. You knew what was inside, but you were still surprised to see your face untouched even touch the locket was dented. Stuttering, Levi asked "may I..?" He needed to ask. He was a gentleman. "Yes," you needed to tell him because he deserved a clear confirmation. He rested his rough palm on yours. You leaned against his shoulder, and you both exhaled in relief.
The stars had finally aligned.

Home to you (simon riley)
(simon riley x fem!reader) angst+fluff
tw: near death, mentions of gun shots, blood
authors note: hi there! this is my first time writing something like this so i hope you’ll like it! request are always open! i hope you enjoy it! thank you for reading! i listened to the song “work song” by hozier while writing this!
word count: 1k+
“I love you Simon” you muttered into his chest as he hugged you
”I love you too love, ill come home to you I promise” he whispered back
He had got called out too a dangerous mission, this wasn’t new he was always called on dangerous missions, but this one was different, this was supposed to be his time off, he was supposed to stay here with you and pretend he was a civilian for the time being, but his team needed him and you understood that.
He gave you a kiss to the top of your head before he grabbed his keys and walked out the door, waving a final time.
He will be back you thought to yourself he will come home to you.
—————————————————————————
This wasn’t the same as any other mission but he’d never tell you that, He wouldn’t get called in while he has time off if it was, but you didn’t know that and he planned to not let you know, he didn’t want you to worry even more.
”Ghost nice of you to join us” soap said as he walked into the room
Simon didn’t say a word and instead just sat down and listened to prices briefing.
“Stay sharp boys they are expecting you” price said to them as they all stood up and headed the helipad.
the ride was tense they all knew it was high risk, hell all their missions were but this one was different and they all knew it.
as soon as they landed they separated. It was a mistake.
—————————————————————————
As soon as he entered that building shots went off from all directions, he got behind a shipment container and waited until the shots stopped, he waited for the comms to go off.
”Everybody alright” he heard his captians voice came thru the silence
Was he alright?
“All good sir” soaps voice came thru
“Yes sir” gaz’s voice came thru
His shoulders burning he’s realized
“Ghost do you copy” prices voice came thru
He lifted his hand to his shoulder and looked at his crimson stained fingers.
“Ghost do you copy” price said more firmly
Fuck it was a lot of blood he thought
It hurts so fucking much he thought
“Ghost” soaps voice came thru
He groans bringing his hand to the com pressing down the button
“I’ve been hit” he says quietly into the comm and everything goes dark
—————————————————————————
“Simon” “Simon you have to get up” “Simon you have to get up off the floor”
He hears your voice, fuck you werent supposed to be here he thinks
He quickly opens his eyes but sees nothing but the grimey floor beneath him
“Come on get up Si you have to fight”
He hears your voice again, he pushed his body up off the floor leaning against the shipment container, looking down at his com, its broken. He groans as he reaches down into his pocket, pulling out a silver locket, he opened it and there you were, smiling so brightly up at him as he wrapped his arms around you awkwardly.
He cried, he looked so miserable in this picture but yet you chose this one to put inside here, he wondered why, he looked miserable but fuck he loved you so much, he was smiling under the mask, but only he knew that.
“Y/N?” He cried out into the air
“I’m here Simon” he heard you call out
“I’m not coming home to you love, I lied” he cried out
“You need to fight simon” you whispered
“Fuck there’s so much blood y/n” he whispered
”put pressure on it simon, come on think baby, you know all this stuff, think about it” you said
You were right, fuck he knew this, he groaned as he reached down ripping the bottom of his shirt, he groaned as he wrapped it along his wound.
He pushed his body up off the floor standing, Fuck he was delusional from blood loss, he was talking to himself like a crazy person and he knew it.
”You still here love?” He spoke out
no answer….
”love?” He spoke out again
no answer again.
fuck he needed to get home to you, he needed to hear your beautiful voice again.
Nothing would keep him from coming home to you, he would crawl home to you if he had too, he was getting home too you, he was not breaking his promise with you and from now on he would make sure he would never come closer to it then he his now.
He pushed his way back to the door he entered in, and as soon as he pushed the door open shots went off, he slipped out the door, but he was hit once again.
”FUCK” he yelled out and he looked down at his now crimson stained jeans
All he had to do was make it back to the spot where they landed, it was said to all meet there if it went south and shit did it go south.
He rips his shirt more and wraps it down around his thigh, he begins walking limping to the tree line in the distance, he hears shots going off inside the building, he hopes his men are okay but he has to get to the landing location.
“GHOST” he hears price yell behind him and he finally takes a breath and pauses
Price, soap and gaz are at his side quicker than lightning, gaz and price put his arms over their shoulders carrying his weight like nothing.
”Shit where were you hit” soap asked but he doesn’t answer, god everything hurts so much
“Simon where were you hit” he listens this time when he hears his name
“leg and shoulder” he rasped out not opening his eyes, he hears a helicopter in the distance as they drag his bodie thru the woods
He feels the wind of the helicopter hitting his body and then he feels his body being quickly lifted into the helicopter
”Y/n you have to call y/n” he whispers
“what was that mate” soap ask him but before Simon can answers he’s groaning out in pain as two sets of hands put pressure on his wounds
”Y/n you need to call her, tell her what happened tell her I lover er” He says louder this time
“your gonna tell her yourself simon, nothings gonna happen you’ll see her at the hospital” soap says
It’s the last thing he hears before everything goes dark
————————————————————————-
It was late, 12:30 maybe? But your phone was ringing which was weird you look at the name seeing ”JOHN PRICE” and quickly jumped up answering the phone
“What happened” you say urgently into the phone
“Simons been inquired y/n, he’s in surgery now but you need to get here now” prices voice came thru and before he could get out another word you were hanging up and throwing your phone down.
You quickly jumped up out of yours and simons shared bed and ran out of the room, you slipped on your house slippers and grabbed your keys to your car and ran out of the door.
You didn’t care if the door was locked someone could have everything in that house if it meant Simon was going to be okay, you quickly backed out of the drive way speeding out of yours and simons little neighborhood.
You drove at terrifying speeds, turning what was normally a twenty minute drive into a ten minute drive, you parked your car quickly and jumped out running into the bases hospital, and their sat a blood covered soap, gaz and price.
”y/n” price said standing up quickly
“how is he? Is he okay?” you asked frantically
”he’s still in surgery” price spoke out
“doctors said he has a good chance, he fought hard” soap said standing up
“I believe this belongs to you, he was holding it when we found him” soap says holding out a blood soaked locket you grabbed it with shaky hands, and then your legs buckled underneath you as you let a sob out. Price immediately at your side to catch you.
—————————————————————————
It’s been three hours since you’ve got here, you’ve calmed down some, but your still dazed, you couldn’t believe this is happening, you couldn’t believe he kept the locket with him, you thought he stuffed it into a drawer somewhere.
you opened the locket looking at the blood coated picture of you two, if someone else had seen this picture they would think Simon was disinterested, distant and unhappy, but when you see this picture it means something different.
he was smiling and you knew it, you could see the tiny little creases in his eyes as he looked down at you, he was smiling just as bright as you even though no body knew it but you and him.
”He’s out of surgery, He will be okay we are just waiting for him to wake up” the doctor said walking towards us
“thank the lord” gaz muttered
“can I see him please?” You said standing up quickly
the doctor glanced over at price who nodded at her.
”yes you may right this way miss”
”Mrs. Riley” soap called out correcting the doctor “she goes by Mrs. Riley now”
“my apologies” the doctor said as you shot a confused look over your shoulder at soap
—————————————————————————
You were standing beside his bed, your hand in his, he was still out, he looked awful, dried blood on his hands, on his neck, his mask, there was blood everywhere your eyes started watering again, just as you felt a tear a fall your hand was being squeezed.
”Si?” You whispered out
“y/n?” He said groggily
“I’m here Simon” you cried out
he squeezed your hand harder like you were going to disappear into thin air
“I was smiling in the picture y/n” he whispered out
“Simon what are you on about” you giggled slightly he was still out of it from the anesthesia
“in the locket, I was smiling I swear I wasn’t miserable” he muttered out
“Oh Simon, I know, I know you were baby” you whispered to him
“I fought so hard for you Y/n, I didn’t break my promise” he said quietly
“I know simon, I know you did” you whispered rubbing your hand over his masked face
”Thank you” he muttered once again
“for what si?” You asked
“For being there” he said “you were there helping me”
you were a bit confused but answered anyways “Your welcome si” you said still rubbing you hand over the mask
“Take it off” he muttered opening his eyes
“are you sure?” You asked quietly seeing his blue eyes stare up at you
“Take it off please y/n I need to feel your touch” he whispered
you carefully slipped the mask up and off his face, there he was, there now sat simon, no longer ghost but simon. Your simon.
he looked up at you with teary blue eyes “I love you so much y/n” he whispered squeezing your hand
“I love you too simon” you whisper to him running your fingers through his sweaty hair
you bent down, not hugging him because you didn’t want too hurt him, but you kissed the top of his head and it seemed that maybe he finally leaned into your touch. He did and both of you know it.

Weeping Maiden [ACT I]: CHAPTER 5
[Act I]: CHAPTER 5
Vil felt dizzy from that information. It was definitely Yuu, their Yuu who helped them. But she said he had been missing for 3 years!! Looking at both Yuu and [Name], they could easily pass for twins.
The only problem was that something didn't add up. Yuu was 16 years old, and HER Yuu was now 19. Vil concluded two things, either it was all a coincidence or she was lying and she was the thief.
“_I see, I hope you find your brother soon.
_Thank you.”
They both returned to the crew who asked worriedly if she was alright. The girl apologized for worrying everyone.
Everything was going well with the rest of the production. Neige always stayed next to her at every chance he had. Sometimes he would subtly glare at Vil while his hold tightened on her hand. Thankfully she didn't have many scenes today.
“_ Good job, [Name]. You were incredible.
_ Thank you Vil-senpai.
_ I'm just being honest. By the way, we will need to exchange numbers. We have some scenes together during our next filming.”
She smiled before exchanging numbers. Neige next to her looked sour. It was as if Vil insulted him. [Name] looked up at him as she felt his grip on her wrist. Without a word, he left with her. He was a little forceful which confused her more.
“_ Are you mad? Did something happen?”
She asked as they got in the car. The young girl gasped softly as she felt him hold her against him. Neige buried his head in the crook of her neck.
“_ Are you alright ?” She asked uncomfortably.
Neige let her go before smiling almost like usual. But something about his smile seemed strange.
“_ I'm sorry, I should have noticed you weren't well.
_ It's okay. I didn't want to worry you.”
***
Vil was sitting in his car as the driver was taking him to the place where he was supposed to get to the portal. He looked at his manager before talking.
“_Can you look up some information on [Name] Yamada?
_ Of course, are you interested in her?
_ You could say that. Look into the information on Yuu Yamada too.”
His manager looked surprised for a moment.
“_Yuu Yamada… the NRC student who once came with you? The one who had that talking familiar?
_ Yes.”
Both only talked very little about their home world. And if asked, they would answer it vaguely almost like they didn't want anyone to know where they come from. Or maybe it's because they can't talk about it. Vil’s gut feeling was telling him to look into this. It's as if he wanted to believe both Yamada were siblings.
He also planning on asking Idia too. He was the best at digging those things. As he was planning on sending a message to Idia, Cater sent a message on the group chat.
{Cater: I found the pendant. It's on a bidding site, here.
Vil: Where? Are you sure it's the right one?
Cater: Yes, Yuu confirmed it. Here is the link.}
It was the same locket [Name] had, at the difference that the picture inside was different. It was a very young girl, a preteen at best, maybe even younger. Vil felt a strong shudder as he looked at the picture closely. It had too much resemblance to be a coincidence. The girl in the picture was definitely [Name] Yamada at 13 when she gave him that necklace.
{Vil: Who is that girl on the locket?
Yuu: My little sister and the designer of the locket. She is 13.
Cater: So cute, does she want to become a jeweler?
Yuu: No… she is an actress.}
Vil could feel his head buzzing once again. It was too much of a coincidence to be normal. And now he had even more questions. Vil wondered if he should talk about [Name], the girl was older than he said but it could be her… Right?
{Vil: Now that I think about it, you never talk much about your home.
Cater: Yeah that’s true. What is it like?
Yuu: It’s very far away.}
It was the same answer, Vil could feel his heart beating faster as he continued to ask more questions about the girl. It was similar to [Name], A child actor at a young age, the twin locket she gave him for his 16 birthday before he got taken to NRC. Everything was matching, aside from their age. There was an abnormal time difference if she was Yuu’s little sister.
***
[Name] was walking along Neige as he was showing her around. She wondered if it was okay for them to wander around. Everyone could recognize him.
Neige held her hand never once letting her go. When she pointed it out, he made an excuse to make sure he didn’t lose her. In reality, he just wanted people to see them together. He felt a little guilty as he was knowingly taking her out, acting close and intimate when he knew people would see them as a couple.
“_Are you sure you are alright?”
The young girl sipped on her milkshake as she strolled next to him. The young idol smiled at her happily.
“_Yes, I’m alright. Why?
_You looked strange today, did something happen?
_No? I was just a little tired.”
The young girl didn’t believe it but she decided not to press it further. They walked to the portal as they talked about the day. She had fun, and [Name] wondered when she last had fun. Coming back to the school, they were welcomed by Ambrose who hugged her tenderly. She wished her brother was there to bask in their warm embrace too.

Can i request Apollo and loki(separated) x Bonnie Parker! Reader (in the romantic sense)
-Many believed that you didn’t belong in Valhalla, you were one of the most notorious thieves in history, you killed others, and you led one of the biggest crime sprees American history alongside Clyde, who unfortunately didn’t come to Valhalla with you.
-You didn’t mind Valhalla, as you didn’t have to want for anything, as everything was provided for you, but you grew bored, there was no thrill anymore, and anything you stole wasn’t actually stealing, since everything was free.
-That’s when you learned of something that could give you the thrill you were looking for, stealing from the gods, because they’re belongings weren’t like the things you and other humans would be given.
-You started off small, taking jewelry after you would ‘accidentally’ bump into them, but after a while that grew boring as well, you grew greedy for thrill and started breaking into the homes of the gods.
-You were quick to get attention on yourself, being chased around and you couldn’t help but grin, feeling the thrill- this is what you wanted!!
-You caught the attention of (Love) who thought you were amusing, seeing your thrill-seeking nature via stealing from others, he knew that you were a thief, but you seemed to enjoy it- like you lived for the thrill it gave you.
-He wanted to know more about you, but when he tried to approach you to chat you up you left him stunned after you turned on him, talking rather aggressively towards him, telling him to buzz off- like you weren’t up to chatting.
-That’s what started (Love) seeking you out, constantly trying to talk to you and despite your gruff and rather rude nature, he never was deterred- in fact it actually seemed to spur him on even more!!
-(Love) concluded that he had to get your attention in a special way by having something you wanted, something of value that you could steal from him, and he laid the plan out, waiting for you to take the bait.
-Loki- He grinned, looking down at his wallet that had large bills inside of it, “Perfect! I have the money I need to purchase that super expensive weapon!” he said this loudly, purposefully getting your attention while you were at a café, he could see the sparkle in your eyes, hearing that he had a large wad of cash ripe for the taking! Like he expected a short while later, after entering and leaving another shop, you were walking towards him, looking annoyed and you bumped arms with him, “Hey watch where you’re going! What- you again?! I told you to leave me alone!” Loki was stammering as people were looking, hearing you telling him to leave you alone before you turned, walking off. You couldn’t help but grin once you stepped around a corner, opening his wallet to see the money before rose petals burst out from his wallet, showering you and your eyes went wide. Loki popped up beside you, “I found you my lovely thief- looks like my plan to surprise you worked! I wanted to give you something as lovely as yourself, but nothing was as lovely, so I just made you even more lovely!” Your face flushed bright red, showing a new face to him as you glared, snapping his wallet shut before shoving it back at him, holding a hand to your face, trying to hide your blush, “Whatever!” you were just too cute as you ran off. Loki smiled, opening his wallet to remove the last of the rose petals, “She took my money!”
-Apollo- You heard the squealing nymphs up ahead before you heard Apollo laughing, making you roll your eyes softly, as he had been quite persistent about chasing after you for some reason, wanting to spend time with you. You rounded the corner, seeing Apollo looking flashy as always, but your eyes went to a necklace he was wearing around his neck, it was gold and had a large diamond in the center and it looked like a locket- it looked expensive! Apollo, seeing you, came over like normal, “Y/N~~ I’m so happy to see you!” he tried to hug you, but your hands caught against his chest, keeping him back, “Don’t hug me you weirdo!” he stepped back, holding a hand to cover his eyes as he looked up, “Ahh still as cold as always my dear Y/N! I was hoping we could go and enjoy the gardens together!” you immediately turned, your hands in your jacket pocket, “Hard pass!” before hurrying away. Apollo beamed, seeing you had taken the locket, and he hurried after you. You had opened the locket, curious as to what was inside, only to find your picture and a love declaration on the other side. Apollo found you as you snapped it shut and he froze, seeing your face was bright red as you threw the locket at him, “What is this you weirdo?!” your hands came to cover your face as you ran, showing him your softer side which only made him smile, he had to go after you to see more of it!

Prompt 1 - Squeeze
Okay so just in case any one didn't see the lovely mod of the Jegulus Microfic page is taking a break, so I am going to use the previous prompts that I haven't used before to keep going as I'm not ready to stop. I'm starting with the very first ones from May 2023 but the start at 15 so I've filled in the missing days with a few random prompts of my own. I hope you enjoy.
@jegulus-microfic August 1, Word count 471
This is a follow on from last months Wolfstar mini series that I wrote for the Wolfstar Microfics. I'll link everything up so you can go back and read the original part of the story if you want. Thanks as as always I hope you enjoy.
Previous Wolfstar part First Wolfstar part
Regulus stormed away. He hadn’t expected Potter to be there, but of course, where his brother went, Potter was sure to follow. He was just glad to finally be free of that dungeon. He’d been sure when Voldemort caught him stumbling out of that cave he’d be dead within seconds. But apparently, the Dark Lord had other ideas. The Dark Lord had grabbed his arm and apparated them out of there before Regulus could even react. He’d felt the familiar unpleasant squeeze of apparition before he was thrown before the gates of Lestrange Castle. The Dark Lord had wasted no time in restraining him and had Bellatrix herself take his wand from him and drag him down below the castle.
For six months he’d festered underground. His magic was repressed, with no way of escape, no light, and then the screaming and howling had started. He’d given up all hope after that. That was until one of the family’s house elves popped into his cell and told him Sirius was planning a rescue. He’d cried. He’d sworn Rorbey to silence on pain of death over it. But he couldn’t believe that Sirius would do that for him, after everything they’d done and said to each other over the years. He thought Sirius would have relished his misery.
He stopped beside the campfire, warming his still frozen hands and allowed Sirius to catch up with him. Sirius had dragged Remus along and Potter followed after. The sooner Potter left the better, Regulus didn’t have the energy to keep up his many masks with him around. It would only be a matter of time before someone noticed the nervous glances he gave in his schoolboy crush’s direction. Even after years away from him and literally being on different sides of a bloody war, Regulus had still gotten those pesky butterflies fluttering about inside him the second James had uttered his name. He shook his head, turned away from the fire to look at Sirius and made his demands.
“I need to summon Kreacher,” He told them. It was the only way to prove his theory. He needed that locket.
“Absolutely not,” Sirius shook his head. Regulus gritted his teeth.
“If I don’t get him to bring the item I need, then I can’t be sure if what I think I know is true.”
“If you summon him, he’ll go straight to Mother and tell her you’re alive,” Sirius said calmly. Regulus considered this for a moment. It was true that Kreacher had a soft spot for him, he definitely preferred him over his brother, but Sirius’s words rang true as well. Kreacher would in all likelihood tell Walburga that he wasn’t dead the second he got the chance.
“Well then,” He tilted his chin up arrogantly, “Looks like you’re breaking into Grimmauld place.”

Days and nights both began to blur. You lost sleep thinking about Ran’s proposal. Your mother’s and father’s marriage were tested, because your father didn’t want you to marry Ran, but your mother was insisting it was the best route. Your father claimed that she was trying to sell you off for their problems, but your mother denied it. You knew your mother had good intentions, and some points that she made were valid.
Once again, they were arguing, so you walked out of your bedroom, your bare feet walking silently on the hardwood. You got between your mother and father, and looked at them, with a look.
“Mom, dad, please stop fighting. Dad, mom have good intentions. Before she said anything, I was already planning to accept his offer.”
“(Y/N), this is not what I had in mind for your future,” your father said.
“Dad, I know, but if we continue down this past, there will be no future. This is our only shot for them to forgive your debt. There is no way we can come up with the money, and I still need you guys alive. I want you guys to see me succeed even if it means I have to marry Ran.” You had tears in your eyes. Your heart was breaking, because saying it out loud was only making the situation more real.
Your father and mother noticed your distress, and they pulled you into a hug. The moment was short-lived because someone knocked on the door. Your father went to open the door, and there stood a guy who looked similar to Ran.
My father was confused as the guy introduced himself.
“I am Rindou Haitani. You spoke with my older brother, Ran. He couldn’t come by today, because he had something to take care of. So, I am here as his replacement. He wants (Y/N), to come to this address, tonight.”
Rindou gave your father an envelope and a package. “Make sure she wears what’s in the box.” He turned around and left without another word.
Your father handed you the envelope and package. You slowly sat on the couch and opened the envelope first.
Dear (Y/N),
I am sorry, I couldn’t be the one to give this package to you and had to send my brother in my place. Something came up, meet me tonight at Sakura Garden, the address is 444 Sakura Avenue at 7:00. Don’t worry about the attire. I already have it planned. In the package is a nice dress, shoes and accessories. The car will be there at 6:30pm.
Looking forward to seeing you, tonight.
Ran Haitani
You went to shower and get ready for the meeting with Ran. After your shower, you walked in your room in a towel. You opened the box and saw a beautiful knee-length black cocktail dress that had lace detailing on the bodice and sheer sleeves. When you place it on, it fits elegantly, accentuating your figure while maintaining a sophisticated look. The shoes were leather stiletto heels with a modest height, and they were comfortable.
Your mother came into the room, once you were dressed and began to do your hair and make-up for you. It was silent, as she kissed your cheek.
“Baby, I know I was pressuring you before. But if you really don’t want to do this, I won’t be mad,” your mother said.
“It’s okay mom, sometimes sacrifices must be made. You and dad did so much for me growing up, despite not having much. I will be okay,” you reassured her.
You put your silver drop earrings with small pearls on, before adding on the delicate silver bracelet. You grabbed the clutch that came with the dress and put your cards, and a little money you had left in there.
“(Y/N),” your mother said, and you looked at her as she put a small dainty, heart shaped locket around your neck. The writing on the heart said: To thine own self be true.
“My mother gave me this necklace before she passed away, and now, I am giving this necklace to you.” Your mother said, she put on some red lipstick on you, and kissed your cheek. You looked at the clock, it was 6:30, meaning the ride was probably there. You walked out, and your father took in your appearance, he hugged you, kissing the side of your head.
“Be safe, my angel, I love you.”
“Dad, I will be back home tonight, I promise,” you kissed his cheek and walked out of the house. Your parents are watching you getting into the luxurious car, a Lexus LS 500h. You fastened your seatbelt, and the driver was wearing all black with sunglasses.
“Are you Miss (Y/N)?”
“Yes.”
“Okay,” he began the smooth driving to the restaurant. You looked out the window, playing with your necklace. You were a bit nervous, which was probably an understatement.
You watched the scenery pass by, and after thirty minutes you arrived at the restaurant. Your door opened, and Ran stood there, offering you his hand to help you out. You hesitated, but he didn’t, grabbing your hand. He brought it to his lips, his eyes meeting yours.
“You look stunning,” he whispered, guiding you inside. He had gotten a table reserved in the back where you two would be alone. Once you sat down, you set the clutch purse on the table, looking around.
“Don’t look so nervous, just enjoy tonight.”
“How can I enjoy tonight, when I know you want an answer tonight?” You asked, and he met your eyes. He had a smile and leaned forward, pushing your hair behind your ear.
“You are right, it is time for an answer, but tonight is also a time for you to enjoy fine dining, and just relax. Okay?”
You slowly nod as the waiter brought out the finest champagne and glasses of water for the two of you. You picked up the glass, staring at it. Ran took a sip, watching as you took a sip.
“Is it to your liking?” He asked, and you nodded your head. You never had anything so bubbly and sweet before. He grinned behind his glass.
“So, I- I do have an answer.” You said, and he met your eyes. It was like he already knew what the answer would be.

Blood Will Out ch 2/30: Girl on the Run
Summary: When Agatha Sannikova learns she is, in fact, Agatha Heterodyne, she inadvertently kicks off a series of events that reopens old wounds, drags secrets into the light, and brings war to the doorstep of the all but defenseless Mechanicsburg. Saturnus struggles to crush his enemies with a town almost as broken as his body; Agatha, determined to undo the chaos she's unleashed, plunges into the depths of Castle Heterodyne.
Raised by a literal saint and the devil incarnate, Agatha - with an unleashed mind, a burning spark, and a band of very unexpected allies - will fight to do the unthinkable: be a good Heterodyne and a good person.
< Prev chapter | A03 link | Next Chapter>
Grandmother and Grandfather,
I am leaving for Beetleburg to stay with the Clays, like Uncle Barry first planned. Please understand that I love you and I love Mechanicsburg, but it is because I love Mechanicsburg that I can’t stay.
Until now, my failures have hurt no one but myself, except for when things blew up. I want to make sure it stays that way. People are disappointed when I'm not a Heterodyne. I don't want to see how disappointed they are when I am. This town has been waiting so long for a Heterodyne. To give them me would be unforgivable.
But while I can’t be a Heterodyne, I will always be:
Your loving granddaughter,
Agatha
Teodora sat on the stairs, her face buried in her handkerchief as Saturnus read the note. His hand was tight around the locket, which had been wrapped up in the note and left on Agatha’s pillow for Teodora to find. Some of Agatha’s clothes were gone, as was the backpack she had once worn when travelling with Barry from town to town.
“Never thought I would hate to say I told you so,” Saturnus said. He felt so strange, like his body was miles away. “The universe does enact such poetic justice on this family, I must say.”
“It’s all my fault,” she said, voice muffled. “This is all my fault.”
“Yes,” Saturnus said, distractedly, rubbing his chin and staring at nothing. “It is.”
She dropped her hands and glared at him with red-rimmed eyes. He caught her expression and frowned.
“Well, it is,” he said. “I’ll grant that Barry started this mess, but you’re the one who couldn’t keep her mouth shut.”
“Thank you,” Teodora snapped. “For your words of comfort.”
“Since when have you ever wanted me to comfort you?” Saturnus asked, not so bewildered he could not also be annoyed.
“Since I drove our granddaughter to run away! You’re perfectly capable of comforting her!”
“Yes, but she does not hate me.”
“I don’t hate you.”
“Oh, don’t be missish now. I’m hardly going to be offended.”
Teodora sighed and gave him a tired look.
“Saturnus, I have not hated you since the day Bill came home and said you told him you would be evil even if it meant he couldn’t love you.”
Saturnus flinched, slightly, and looked away. They had never spoken of it, any of them, and although Saturnus knew Bill would have told her, it had never occurred to him what she might think of it.
“He blew that completely out of proportion,” Saturnus said, stiffly. “I simply indicated to him that I don’t respond to ultimatums, not even from my own son.”
And Bill had lived up to his word. Saturnus did not give up his hobbies, did not reject the things that brought him pleasure, did not rewrite the very core of himself to be someone capable of being kind and good. In return, Bill and Barry ceased to love him.
Sometimes it felt like they’d forgotten they ever had.
“Yes,” Teodora said. “You are what you are, and I can no more hate you for it than I can hate a hawk for killing a songbird.”
Saturnus stared at her. Warily, as if she might bite, he reached out a hand towards her. She pulled away, as she always did.
“I am not saying—”
“I know,” he said. “I know. I have never expected you to love me, Teodora, or that I could ever do anything to make you do so. I’m a selfish man; I did not need you to – all I needed was to have you with me.”
He did not say, because he knew she did not want to hear it, that all he had needed was to have her. To own her, to ensure that every day he could see this beautiful woman who refused to fear him. Saturnus had worried she might break or fade away in the cage of their marriage, but she had stayed wonderfully, infuriatingly strong. His.
“That you don’t hate me is more than I ever expected, and I am not so foolish as to ask for more.”
He reached out again, and this time she did not pull away when he rested his hand on her shoulder.
“We can fix it. We know where she’s going. She may even make it to Beetleburg before we find her. We should still try, but she’s not in certain danger. Travel is not what it was when we were her age.”
“Yes – you aren’t out there, for a start,” Teodora said wryly, but she dried her eyes. Saturnus chuckled, and, feeling he had pushed his luck far enough, withdrew his hand. He rubbed his thumb across the palm of that hand, absentmindedly.
“I’ll find Carson, have him identify any airships or carts that have left in the last twelve hours headed in Beetleburg’s direction. The Corbettites might tell us if she took the train…well. They might tell you. Send a message to Punch and Judy, too, in case she beats us there.”
Saturnus hesitated.
“We’ll find her,” he said, as gently as someone like him ever could. “We’ll fix it.”
x
In fairness, she had intended to buy her ticket fair and square, but in Sturmhalten, all tickets were purchased in the main station, rather than paid to the captain directly. That meant if anyone came and asked about her, there would be guaranteed at least one person who would have spoken to her and known exactly what ship she took. Agatha’s plan had been to sneak onboard the ship at the last minute and pay the fare once the ticket taker came around. They’d charge her an extra fee, but she’d pay it.
In Sturmhalten, this was apparently a crime.
“If I have to pay at the counter I’ll pay at the counter, you don’t have to drag me off!”
“Everyone has to follow the rules, miss.” The guard was not too much taller than Agatha, but his grip was iron and his step unimpeded by her struggling. To Agatha’s unkind eye, he had the look of a man sliding into late middle age on a sled made of regrets and abandoned dreams, a ride which clearly could only be made bearable by harassing people who hadn’t done anything wrong.
People were staring. Agatha hated it when people stared.
“I didn’t know it wasn’t allowed! Is this really an arrestable offence?”
“What is going on?”
Two men approached, one wearing a captain’s uniform and a pinched, avaricious face; and the other with startlingly red hair and an expensive velvet suit ruined by dark stains. Agatha chose to recognize them as engine oil. The guard saluted with his free hand.
“Sir, your highness. I caught her trying to sneak onboard one of the ships without paying.”
“I was going to buy my ticket on the ship!” Agatha protested. Your highness? How seriously did they take fare dodging in Sturmhalten?
“Sure you were,” the captain sneered. “Do you know what we do to stowaways?”
“I wasn’t stowing away, I didn’t do anything wrong! Let me go!”
The guard released Agatha’s arm so suddenly she stumbled and nearly fell. Looking up at him in surprise, she saw his face was blank, his eyes glazed.
“You should let her go,” the captain said, in a strange, flat voice. He, too, was glassy-eyed and distant.
“Yes,” the guard said. “We should let her go.”
“You should,” Agatha said warily, backing away. Was this some kind of trap? A practical joke? Haha we’re going to arrest you just kidding. But why? They looked so strange. “So...I’ll just be going…”
“Wait!” the third man said. He smiled. “I am Prince Aaronev Sturmvoraus. Please, allow me to apologize for the behavior of my men. They are...overzealous at times.”
There was something unpleasant about his manner. His expression and voice were perfectly pleasant, but there was a fire in his eyes she didn’t like, an almost frantic eagerness.
“Well...so long as they don’t arrest me,” she said, trying to inch backwards without looking like she was.
“Where are you bound?”
“To Beetleburg,” Agatha said. “I’m visiting some friends.”
“Ah, what a perfect coincidence! I have a meeting with the Tyrant himself, and my children and I are headed there first thing tomorrow! As an apology for the inconvenience, I insist you travel with us on the royal airship.”
“I...I really am in a bit of a hurry,” she said uncertainly.
“Not a problem at all,” the prince said. “My airship is much faster than commercial travel. Even leaving tomorrow, we shall beat them there.”
The faster she got there, the more time she’d have to convince the Clays to let her stay. Surely it couldn’t hurt, so long as she kept her guard up. And even if he did try something, Agatha could fight and the prince was barely taller than she was.
“Then...I accept. Thank you, your highness.”
Her uncertainty grew, threatening to bloom into unease, when Aaronev’s eyes lit up even brighter.
“Excellent! Come with me, please, do come! I would like to introduce you to my daughter Anevka. She’s just about your age, and she is always in need of new companions.”
Anevka was indeed a year younger than Agatha. She dressed like a fairy-tale princess: her hair up in an intricate bun of loops and curls, her poofy dresses in a thousand layers of fabric embroidered with gold thread and trimmed with tiny pearls. Her makeup was immaculate and even her perfume smelled expensive.
She was also awful.
Anevka reminded Agatha of her most malicious bullies, the pretty girls who smirked at her from their safe little groups and whispered to each other behind their hands. The way she talked reminded Agatha of Nora, particularly: the expert in saying things Agatha would initially mistake for a compliment, who would then laugh in her face when Agatha said thank you.
If they’d been a few years younger, Agatha had no doubt Anevka would invite her to play house – with Agatha as the servant.
Aaronev also had a son, whose name was Tarvek, but he wasn’t there. He was, according to Anveka, off sulking because their cousin Zulenna had just been “invited” to Castle Wulfenbach as a hostage. Oh, he claimed he didn’t care, but Anevka knew he was still being silly about getting himself kicked off the castle as a young boy.
It was his own fault, Anevka said with her nose in the air, for being foolish enough to make an actual friend, instead of an easily manipulated ally, like a proper Sturmvoraus.
That was the point when Agatha did as Lady Teodora always suggested, and removes herself from the situation before she said something rude. Pretending she needed the bathroom, Agatha slipped out of the room and down the hall. When she saw guards, she walked purposefully, to avoid questions. When she was alone, she opened doors at random, looking for...she wasn’t sure what. A room full of the skeletons of other young girls the prince had invited on airship rides, perhaps?
Don’t be silly, she told herself. That’s ridiculous. It’s not like he’s a Heterodyne.
What she did end up finding was a reading room. It was small, but the shelves were filled with books. On one side of the room was a small table and two chairs. On the other, an unlit fireplace and a few comfortable armchairs. Directly across from the door was a large window overlooking the forest.
The window had a well-padded seat, on which sat a boy about a year older than her, with hair the same deep red as Aaronev and Anevka’s. He set the thick book he was reading down beside him and levelled a suspicious glare at her through the large, square lenses of his glasses.
“Who are you?” he demanded, in a haughty voice. Agatha bristled, and opened her mouth to tell him that good manners cost nothing, even to a rich boy. She realized that, given the hair, this was probably his castle, and thought that she, too, would not particularly appreciate strangers barging in on her while she was reading.
“Agatha Sannikova,” she said. “Are you Tarvek?”
“I am Master Tarvek Sturmvoraus of Sturmhalten, yes,” Tarvek said, haughty shifting into snippy. “What are you doing here?”
“Your father is going to give me a ride to Beetleburg.”
Tarvek stared at her, scrunching his nose up.
“Why?”
“One of the guards tried to arrest me for getting on a ship before I bought my ticket. Your father said he wanted to apologize, and since you’re going there tomorrow anyway—”
“No, we aren’t. We never go to Beetleburg. Why would we?”
Agatha’s unease returned tenfold.
“I don’t know!” she snapped. “I told the guard to let me go, and he did, and then your father got so...strange.” She rubbed her arms. “I should go, shouldn’t I? Maybe I can sneak out and he won’t notice I’m gone. I’ll find a, a caravan or something to hide in ‘til I get to the next airship stop.”
She glanced at Tarvek. For a second, he looked troubled and uneasy, but then she blinked and the look was gone.
“He gets...caught up in strange notions sometimes. Are your parents waiting for you?”
Automatically, Agatha’s hand went to her throat, but it closed around empty air. Her locket wasn’t there – it was on her pillow in Mechanicsburg, where she’d left it. Agatha felt a wave of homesickness so strong she thought she might be sick.
“No, my parents are...are gone. I’m going to visit some friends of my uncle.”
“Do you know how to ride a horse?”
Agatha blinked, furrowing her brow. “A little.”
“Father gets…notions sometimes. Noblesse oblige – he feels that the privilege of our station comes with a responsibility to those without it. He is excitable, but he is also easily distracted. He’ll probably have forgotten about it by this afternoon. I’ll take you down to the stables and tell the hostlers to lend you a horse. You can ride it to the next town over. I’ll send someone later to get it back.”
“Oh, thank you!” Agatha beamed, relieved. The prince wasn’t some murderous madboy, just one of those rich folks who thought they should get a medal for treating the peasantry with a modicum of politeness.
Mechanicsburg loved those people.
“Is it alright if I stay here with you? I was supposed to be having tea with your sister, but I...would rather stay here.”
Tarvek snorted, and hurriedly hid his amusement.
“I don’t blame you. You can stay here. Help yourself to the books.”
“You have a wonderful collection,” she said, admiring. Tarvek stood and joined her at the shelf, eyes flicking over the titles.
“Here,” he said, and pulled a slim gray volume down off the shelf and passed it to her. Agatha read the title and laughed for the first time in days. Principles of Elan Vital by V. T. Dubois. Her own copy was still on Saturnus’ bookshelf. The first time Saturnus had spoken since his second stroke was to laugh when Agatha offered to read it to him. Sitting on the stool by his bed, pausing every few paragraphs for Saturnus to insult the poor methodology or tell unflattering stories about Dubois from when they were in university together, learning he was funny and clever and as good a companion when he could talk as when he was listening...for that memory alone, Agatha would always love the book.
But that didn't make it any less hysterically bad.
“What’s so funny?” Tarvek demanded, affronted. “I know it’s a little out of date, but I thought he had some very interesting ideas.”
“He doesn’t,” Agatha said with a grin. “Come here, I’ll tell you everything he gets wrong.”

Hoooookay. Since I have SO MANY ASKS in my inbox, I'm gonna answer all of em. Yeah. Because so many overlap I'm just gonna. Do that. Yeehaw. All under the cut cuz THIS IS GONNA BE VERY LONG
Take this, here we go!!
Ask game here
🍧 - If you had to put a label on your relationship with f/o, childhood sweetheart? married? tell me!
Enemies to lovers, and married. These two are freaking dorks who were obvious even before they dated
🔥- who gets jealous easier?
I would say Starlo. But that's only in the insecure "why can't I be like that, of course she likes them" way. He does get over it pretty quickly though.
💋 - if you two were a romance trope what would it be?
Enemies to oblivious gays to lovers to insufferable married couple
🎂 - how do you two celebrate each other's birthday?
Fitting how I'm answering this six days before my birthday! I actually had planned out a scenario where Pancake gets the whole town to throw a surprise party for Starlo. Stars obviously tries to do the same thing, just in a different way. And it works. Hehe.
Also Starlo gives Pancake a LOT of gifts
🧊 - who sings in the shower?
STARLO. Pancake does too, but she's not as LOUD as Starlo. Pancake knows he's taking a shower, not because the water is on, but because she can hear "LIIIIFE IS A HAAAIIIWAAAAYYYY, IM GONNA DRIVE IT ALLLLL NIIIIGHT LOOOONG!!" from halfway across the house
🔮 - who is more protective?
PANCAKE. Starlo is also pretty protective, but HOO MAN that title goes to Pancake. She's half Terrorvant (an alien species I made up), and they're insanely and aggressively protective of their loved ones. It's like a guard dog situation. It's literally etched into her blood to be protective. If someone even tries to hurt or kill Starlo, or any of her other friends, she will make sure that death is a mercy to the perpetrator. You Do Not Make Pancake Mad. Ever.
🩰 - who is the better dancer?
Pancake is better at dancing on her own, Starlo is better at couple dancing. And he loves to dance with her. Heck it's a chance to teach her, and he loves seeing her flustered face
🎈 - what is your most precious memory with them?
Probably playing UTY for the first time and seeing him for the first time in game. Hooo he's awesome.
🐇 - what kind of pet do you think you could raise together with them?
Cat. Horse maybe. But definitely a cat. Pancake finds a black and white spotted cat, Starlo is REFUSING to look after said cat. And later he's seen napping with Moo on his chest!
💍 - what is their view on marriage?
They both wanted to get married. Pancake has had several failed relationships, but still wants a partner. And Starlo wants a family of his own, despite his heartbreak. It's also that his mom REALLY wants him to get married, and thats a bit of pressure on him. Still, he wants that
🎀 -do you have any matching clothes with them? If so, what does it look like?
YES!! The same matching PJ set. Starlo saw Pancake changing PJs cuz she got too hot with him under the covers, and he's a clinger too. So he bought them matching star PJs
🧸 - favourite gifts from each other?
For Pancake, it's the locket Starlo gave her before they started dating. For Starlo, it's any plush she wins him at an arcade or carnival game
🌱 - how do you make up with each other after an argument?
Mostly by talking, or letting each other process it for a bit. They'll eventually talk it out. Sometimes it just takes longer
🩹 - if you or your f/o got hurts, how would the other react?
Refer back to Pancake being PISSED if you hurt Starlo. She will Not Be Happy, and will probably make herself look like the worse person just to get you to back off from hurting Starlo. If Starlo walked up to her injured, instead of her catching someone hurting him, she'll patch him up calmly and then ask for names. He can't tell her cuz their names will be in the newspaper the next day. Somehow
Starlo would also be pissed. Not as much as Pancake, but he will defend her and bite back. Yeah don't make him mad either. He's not too much of a genuine fighter, but he does have training from Pancake
❄️ - how would you spend Christmas with them?
Cozy, warm, with LOTS of gifts, most from Starlo. Probably with his family too. Eventually it'll be cozy and warm back at home, watching the snow fall with gifts around them and a warm fire in the fireplace. Just cozy
🎃 - what is your Halloween costume? Do they match with your f/o?
Irl? It's a TV head cosplay. I feel like he would also wear a TV head to match. And to try something different, other than Westerns
🌠 - if you or your f/o could make one wish come true, what would it be?
For Pancake, it'd be so Starlo can see the actual stars on the surface. And to be with him forever. For Starlo, it's to see his child Clover again
📷 - do you have any photos of your f/o? do you use it as your wallpaper?
I actually have a Starlo wallpaper. Someone got some fanarts and edited them into a wallpaper. And it's been like that for months. And I have over 1400 images of him saved onto my phone-
🫕 - camping together seems fun, who cooks and who set up the tent?
Starlo cooks, Pancake sets up the tent
🍝 - do you two share your foods with each other? have you try feeding them yourself?
Yes, Pancake's made pancakes for Starlo. And yes they occasionally feed each other
🔪 - if they were a yandere, would you still love them?
I don't like yanderes. And being a yandere is completely out of character for him. (I've seen some yan!starlo stuff. It's so freakishly out of character like WHYYYY)
💄- what nicknames or pet names do you two use for each other?
A-HA!! TRAP CARD ACTIVATED!! Though people already know these, teehee.
Starlo's nicknames for Pancake: Honeybee, Wildflower, Moon Pie, Darlin, Sugar Cube, Hon, Stardust
Pancake's nicknames for Starlo: Stars, Starshine, Rattlesnake, Lemon Cookie, sugar bun
💎 - if you and your f/o were in a fake relationship/marriage, who do you think would lose at falling in love first?
Starlo probably. He just that connection alright?
🍿 - your perception of them and their perception of you?
Pancake's perception: he's kind, loving, sweet, has the biggest and kindest heart of gold. He gets excited extremely easy. He has a lot of weight on his shoulders, and I wanna help him take that load off. I want to see him genuinely smile more.
Starlo's perception of Pancake: She's a shortstack with strength that could easily bend and snap him in half, and that makes her all the more terrifying and hot for it. She's a kind soul as well, gentle and tries to be friends with everyone. Is a little headstrong. Gets things done ahead of time when they need to be. Over enthusiastic sometimes, but that's the way he likes her. She's genuinely sweet. And should see herself in a higher light than she does. He sees her in a very high light, probably higher than she ever will. And that makes him sad. But, she's happiest when she's around him, and he loves that
🌹- if the roles were reversed, your f/o selfship themselves with you, would you two still be obsessed with each other as usual or stronger?
Yes. I've felt it. He definitely would be. THE YEARNING MAN. THE YEARNING-
🍒 - what would your contact names be for each other?
Pancake's would be something silly like "beef" (for boyfriend) or "starboy" or "stars <3"
Starlo's would be something like "Light of my life" or a star/cowboy themed thing
🏷 - what is you and your f/o's ship name? how did you decide on that name?
They actually have two!! Rotten Star and Starcake!!
Rotten Star came from their personas' names. Starlo's being North Star and Pancake's being Rotten Jack. It's essentially their rivalry ship name, back when they were enemies. Hue
Starcake is just their names mashed together. Starlo and Pancake. And yet it's so cute and perfect and aesthetically pleasing!! I love it!!
⏳️ - if you or your f/o travel back in time, is there anything that you want to change in your relationship? maybe some regrets for your actions towards the other in the past?
Maybe stopping the rivalry? Dunno.
And thats it! If any of yall read all of this, here's a cookie 🍪 and I love ya /p
You're amazing!!
#PLEASE have this post. i better not have hit that limit#id be SO MAD#self ship stuff#the cake doth speak#cake asks#starcake#rotten star#🌵💫#fun fact: i listened to the binding of isaac ost while typing this

♡~~♡~~♡~~♡~~♡
Summary: Leo plans a romantic date for the two of you to celibrate your guys' anniversary.
Warnings: None!
Requested: Yes!
Female Reader!
.........................................
You sat on the edge of your bed, waiting for the blue shimmer of Leo's portal to appear.
Today was your first anniversary, and you couldn't be more excited. Leo said he had planned an entire day with you, and had asked you to text him once you were ready to leave. Then he'd portal into your room to pick you up and you'd be on your way.
You were wearing your favorite outfit, your hair was styled in the way you knew Leo loved, and most excited smile of your life adorned your face.
A familiar blue light of Leo's portal appeared, and Leo strutted through, his usual confident smirk gracing his handsome face.
"Hey there, babe. You ready to go?"
You nodded, smiling happily as you stood up from your bed and closed the space with a kiss.
"More than ready." you said when you pulled away.
Leo smiled, then gently took your hand into his, then pulled you through the portal. The two of you now stood on a rooftop overlooking the city lights. You took the opportunity to really take in his appearence.
He was wearing a blue hoodie, and some dark jeans, with his sword now strapped to his back.
Leo turned to smirk at you, and you felt the blush creep up your face. You turned away, face bright red.
Leo laughs out, "C'mon, babe, there'll be plenty of time for staring at my handsome face during dinner."
You blush harder, "Shut up.." you mutter.
With one final chuckle, Leo tugs you along the rooftop, pulling you around a wall, ypu gasp at the sight before you.
Just ahead of you was a picnic setting, a blanket layed out on the concrete with an asortment of foods covering it. Candles were everywhere, framing the rooftop in a soft golden light.
"Do you like it?" Leo asked, "I asked Mikey to help with the food since, well, I can't cook, and the candles were Raph's idea-"
"Leo," You cut him off, "I love it, it's amazing!"
You gave him a quick cheek kiss, then moved to rush to the bowl of strawberries, but Leo grabbed your arm, and pulled you in for kiss.
You melted into the contact, wrapping your arms around Leo's neck as his hands found your waist.
The two of you pulled away with stars in your eyes, looking at each other lovingly.
"Picnic?" you muttered, smiling softly at the blue clad turtle.
"Picnic." he agreed.
And so the night carried on, with the two of you sat under the New York lights, stealing glances whenever you thought the other wasn't looking.
The date ended with Leonardo on your fire escape, his sword over his shoulder and smile on his face.
"I had fun tonight." you said softly, holding one of Leo's hands in your own.
He smiles wider, his cocky smirk returninv at your statement, "Yeah, me too."
You look out at the sunrise with a sigh, "Well, I suppose you should go, huh, Champion?"
"I guess so, but I'm going home with style."
With that declaration, Leo kisses the back of your hand, whispers, "Hasta luego mi amor.", then flips off the fire escapes and into a portal that would return him to his home.
You chuckle as you watch him dissapear, turning back into your bedroom. You tilt your head in surprise at the small gift box on your bed.
You pick up the small box gently, and remove the ribbion. You gasp with a smile at the small locket inside. You open the locket to reveal a picture of you and Leo, smiling like the idiots in love that you are.
.........................................

Kanato Sakamaki X Childhood Friend Sadistic Reader
Can’t wait!
Prologue-Your POV YEARS AGO:
I twirled around in my brand new dress. I was so excited today father said he’ll spend time with me. As I danced around I fell into a different place. You see I’m a princess of the magical beings like Witches and Wizards. My family is know as the Burton’s. I’m still in training as I said a spell that cause me to go into an unfamiliar place. It was dark. Scary. Nothing I’ve seen I come to find out that it was what I will now know is the Sakamaki Mansion. I freaked. What is this place? I decided to explore. As I walked in I saw a boy with purple hair. “Hello?” He tilted his head. “Who are you?” I gulped “I’m (Y/n) Burton! I’m a princess!” He tilted his head again and clutched his bear. “I am Kanato Sakamaki. You are pretty! Your my best friend now!” Before I could answer a woman came along and yelled “what do you think you’re doing near my precious song bird?” I flinched “I-I-I-I uh.” She slapped me and said “Answer me at once!” Before I could speak I heard a male voice. “Cordelia.” The girl turned and wrapped her arms around the man who had light pink hair and a kind smile. The woman said “this wretched girl it’s tormenting poor Kanato.” I was shaking and tears fell down my face ‘mama. Papa.’ I thought and started to panic. The man knelt down to my eye level and said “hello ms.burton. I’m sorry for my wife. I’m Karlheinz. I know your father Loid Burton. Can you tell me how you got here?” I nodded and sniffled “I accidentally said teleported myself here. I’m sorry!” He smiled “it’s okay let’s take you home.” The boy Kanato said “wait! Here!” He gave me a beautiful locket (the locket-Rose Oval Locket, Necklace, 14K Solid Gold, Locket Necklace Gifts ...Pinterest) and said “this is for our friendship!” I smiled “thank you!” With that I left and never saw the boy again.
YEARS LATER
My father and mother had passed so it was just me now. I was Queen and very nervous. I still wanted to live but it happens. I did meetings and stuff which was always boring. Unfortunately today is a dad I have a meeting so I put on a dress. (The dress-Pin pagePin page) as I waiting in the meeting room (the room-Buckingham palacePinterest) I made my way to my chair. ‘Ugh why can’t I use magic all the time! It’s so boring!’ I thought as I sat in my chair. (The chair-https://pin.it/4HGlB9zD4) I sighed as I waited for the guests. All the sudden I heard a voice. “Ms.(Y/n) it’s been awhile. I’m sorry for the loss of your parents.” It was Karlhienz. I curtsied. “Thank you. Now let’s get to business now. Shall we?” He chuckled “ah just like your father. I expected for you to be more like your mother.” I laughed “now with all do respect to my beloved mother. I wouldn’t be much of a queen now would I? I would have fallen and be a disgrace to the Burton name. Now business about the human world.” As we chatted I mentioned a girl. “Mr.Heniz I recommend you stay away from the mansion were your boys live.” I said as I stood up and walked to the window. I glanced over as I saw him tilt his head “oh? What do you mean by that exactly?” I giggled “you see the new bride. She has a familiar person locked inside her. One of your wives. Cordelia.” He said “so I expect the awakening will come?” I smiled “yes. Just what you’ve been waiting for.” Later the meeting ended.
Time skip
I sighed and went into my chambers. (Your room-royalinteriorPinterest) I then got changed into my nightgown (the nightgown-100% Cotton Nightgown Princess Nightdress Royal Pijama Ladies ...Pinterest) I giggled as I plopped in bed. “Things are going to change around the Sakamaki Family! Oh I can’t wait to watch the show!” I heard a voice. “What are you talking about?” I then saw Kanato. I smiled “Kanato! Is it really you!” I walked up to him and wrapped my arms around him. His plan expression changed to anger as he pushed me away “I hate you! I hate you! You never saw me till after that day” he screamed as he pinned me to the wall holding my neck. I giggled ““Oh you hate me? Well I missed you!” He yelled “lies! Answer my question!” I giggled as I got him to let go “I did what I had to do. If I came back your mother would have killed me!” He then grabbed me and pinned me down to my bed. I wrapped my arms around his neck. “oh Kanato. My sweet Kanato. How I longed for this moment!” I said as I gave him a kiss. He smirked “I will break you! And I’ll make you sorry!” I laughed “then do it!”
The end sorry it’s cringe

Last Christmas (Steve Harrington x Reader)
Last Christmas (Rated T)
Pairing: Steve Harrington x Reader
Word Count: 3.9k+ (get yer cocoa, everyone!)
Warnings: Brief moderate language, Steve Harrington being an idiot (as usual, but we love him anyway), friends-to-lovers (if that's a warning)
Summary: Co-written with @mischief_and_mercy on AO3 for Day 8 of Stevemas. Takes place at the end of Stranger Things 2 and inspired by the infamous titular song. You and Steve have been friends for years. You've seen him change and go from relationship to relationship, wishing that one day he might feel the same as you do. When Steve tries to hatch a plan with you to get Nancy back, tensions run high. Will your friendship be over?
It was no secret Steve Harrington struggled with luck. It was even clearer that he had lost his heart to a very prominent figure who also went to Hawkins High: Nancy Wheeler. Despite being friend-zoned too many times to count, you still harbored feelings for the hazel-eyed King Steve. You knew it was stupid—you should know better than to fall for someone who already gave his heart to someone else.
Everyone saw the way Steve looked at Nancy. Even now, as you both sat in his bedroom, you knew his only thought was of walking into the Snow Ball to see her. He wanted to try to speak with her, to reconcile the broken relationship between the two of them.
“What would I even-” the boy started as he paced around his room. “I mean, what could I even say to her? She’s…different now, ya know?”
“Yeah,” you said with a nod in agreement, “but so are you.”
Steve groaned, hands reaching up to cover and slide down his face. “Why does this have to be so damn complicated?”
“To quote the great Phil Collins-”
“NO!” He was quick to cut you off. “Don’t you start.”
In all the years he’s known you, Steve should have realized this was a losing battle. “You can’t hurry love,” you crooned in a terribly offkey melody. “No, you just have to wait. Love doesn’t come easy, it’s a game of give and take.”
“You’re such a nerd,” he groaned, head falling backwards in frustration. “Besides, wasn’t that song done by the Supremes like a million years ago?”
“And you have the audacity to call me a nerd.”
Steve scrunched his nose, causing a series of wrinkles to appear across his face. “Blame it on my dad,” he argued. “Used to blast that shit everywhere we went. We’re getting off topic here, though. How can I uncomplicate this?”
It wasn’t that you didn’t want Steve to be happy. In fact, it was quite the opposite; there was nothing you wanted more for him. The two of you had known each other for years and you knew the struggles he had going on at home. More than anything, Steve deserved to find someone who would love him unconditionally.
But…that person wasn’t Nancy. As much as they tried, you can’t force two puzzle pieces together that don’t fit. It only damages the structure of one or both puzzle pieces. And in this situation, the broken puzzle piece was Steve. Nancy had remained intact, perfectly fine to be without Steve. Steve, on the other hand, could barely function without her. As much as you hated it, he had convinced himself that Nancy was the one for him, and as his best friend, you had to do what you could to support him.
“What if you gave her a gift?” you suggested. “Something…nice, that’ll help her remember you. Maybe like a locket?”
Steve paused mid step and tilted his head side to side, as though he was pondering your suggestion.
Last Christmas I gave you my heart
But the very next day you gave it away
“Maybe I should ditch,” he remarked, mostly to himself. “Maybe I’ll just leave Dustin, run back into the car, and come back here.”
You pinched the bridge of your nose. “Steven Joseph Harrington, I swear to God if you have stressed me out for nothing, I am going to suffocate you with your own damn pillow.”
“Stressed you out?!” he exclaimed.
“Yes, it stressed me out! You are absolutely incapable of making a decision and not completely wimping out on that same decision! Grow some balls!”
The dark-haired boy before you wrinkled his nose. “You know,” he started, “we would be having a completely different conversation right now if this was your problem. If you wanted to get back with Frankie Wallace– God knows why you’d want to– you’d be stressing over every detail.”
“Well, good thing for you I don’t want to go out with Frankie Wallace,” you said evenly as you rested your head on your hand. The unspoken words remained resting on your tongue, heavy and dark. I want to go out with you.
“Yeah, see, that’s your problem. You need to get back out there again,” Steve encouraged, entirely oblivious to your distant longing stares. “Show the little shitbag what he’s missing.”
“That’s gross, Steve. Last time you encouraged me to do that, he stuck his tongue down my throat and I had to sucker punch him in his. Would you like to try that again? Wanna relive another trip to the principal?”
You watched as your best friend’s jaw clenched and un-clenched in a silent rhythm. He flexed his fingers into a fist. “He did that to you?”
Your eyebrows furrowed. Why would that matter to him? Was he jealous? As wrong as it was, you almost wished he had some feeling comparable to yours when he looked at Nancy. But you knew it would never happen. Try as hard as you might, you would never truly be Steve’s…person. He would never look at you the way he saw Nancy. To Steve, you would always be his little friend with a face full of freckles and braces, the one who was more interested in homework than the important social gatherings of the school year.
After the Snow Ball came and went, with Steve’s plan hopefully going off without a hitch, life would go back to normal. You’d pass each other by in the halls, smile on occasion when he’d visit your locker.
“Yeah, Steve. That’s what happens when you pick the wrong guy.”
Once bitten and twice shy
I keep my distance, but you still catch my eye
Tell me baby, do you recognize me?
Well, it's been a year, it doesn't surprise me
You knew that Steve remembered what it was like to attract the wrong girl. But… he didn’t know what it was like to look at your best friend, every day, knowing that there would be no one else that could measure up to who you wanted. Despite the absentee parents, Steve had always known how to treat his partners. He would tell you about his dates, how he’d always try to pull out all the stops. You knew his moves, his quirks…those sly tactics he thought were smooth that you had convinced him were borderline sketchy, even if he didn’t mean it to be. If anything, being alone most of his life made him gentle and caring.
Steve told you about his dream once, when he and Nancy first started dating. He wanted this great big Hawkins family that would have all the love he never received growing up. It shattered your heart into a thousand pieces to hear, but it also made you all the more protective of him. Deep down, you knew this wasn’t the future Nancy would want. She was a girl with big ambitions, who wanted to do more than stay in a town as small as Hawkins. You knew that Steve would support her either way, even if it meant sacrificing what he wanted most, but it didn’t seem fair. Your best friend didn’t deserve to have his heart broken; not by Nancy Wheeler or anyone else.
“You never…” Steve cleared his throat. “You never told me that.”
“That’s because you were a little…” Too preoccupied with sucking your girlfriend’s face off. “...busy.”
“You can still tell me things!” he exclaimed. The guilt swirled in his eyes, immediately hitting you right in the chest with your own pang of guilt. You probably should have told him when it happened. It would have saved you long nights of avoiding him to cry in your bedroom listening to Bowie and hating how stupid you were. Maybe it would have helped your pride to have him knock some sense into the creep. Although, you knew he would just be picking another fight he was destined to lose.
“I didn’t want to bother you.” I didn’t want to make you feel bad for me while you were happy with your own girlfriend.
Steve whispered your name quietly as he sat on the bed next to you. “No matter how busy I am with a girlfriend, with my friends, there will always be time for you.” He reached over to tuck a stray hair behind your ear. “You’re my best friend. It’s part of my responsibilities to protect you from douchebags like Wallace. Not to mention I’d be lost without you.”
You shifted uncomfortably on the comforter, fingers smoothing the material as you refused to meet your best friend’s gaze. How could he say that to you? Your heart thudded against your chest like a rubber ball against a brick exterior.
“Then why won’t you notice me?” you blurted out, your face burning as your mind registered what had just slipped out of your mouth. “Why do you always go to Nancy when clearly, the both of you can’t work out?!”
Steve recoiled from his position, his expression mimicking that of someone who had been slapped. Burning rage filled your heart, but not at him—never by him. It was at yourself, for ruining the relationship and the gentle peace the both of you had together. Your feelings had always toed the line between friendship and something more with Steve, but you never truly dared to make the leap and cross it. Teasing remarks, gentle touches that lingered just a little too long…yet you didn’t want to take the ultimate risk of revealing your feelings and losing Steve in the process.
“I’m sorry,” you murmured as you gathered your belongings as quickly as possible with tears building up against your lash line. “I shouldn’t have said that, it was wrong of me and not my place at all.”
A hand encircled your wrist, one that most definitely was not your own. Your gaze flicked from the ground to Steve’s chest, unable to look him in the eyes directly. How could you? You had basically ruined your friendship in one fell swoop. Now you know what a fool you’ve been.
You cleared your throat, still staring at the floor. To hell with it all. You’ve said this much already, what more could happen from you pouring out your heart?
“I’ve liked you for a while, Steve.” you stated quietly, still staring at your sock-covered toes. “I… I think I realized last Christmas. But… When I asked if we were going to spend Christmas together like usual, you preferred to spend it with Nancy. I… I lost my heart that day, Steve. I lost it to you.”
“I-” Steve started as his hand tightened around your wrist. “I didn’t know-”
“How could you, Steve?” you asked bitterly. Considering the rhetorical question, you continued on your outpouring of feelings. “You were too invested with Nancy to see what it was doing to me. You only have eyes for one girl at a time. So when Nancy entered the picture… I was lost from you, Steve.” Your voice broke on your last sentence, “I was lost from you, Steve, and I still am.”
“But you’re right here,” he argued. “I’m right here. Everything’s okay now. I mean, yeah, Hawkins went to shit again, but we’re still alive. We’re still-”
“Just because I am physically here, Steve, doesn’t mean that I don’t feel lost from you! When’s the last time you’ve asked about my day, or about one of my tests, or offered to help me study for one of those tests, or, hell, did you even bother to call me back when I broke up with Frankie?”
“I guess, I guess I, uh,” Steve ran a hand through his hair in exasperation. You could tell he was struggling to search through his memory, holding onto a glimmer of hope he could find a reason. But the truth was, he couldn’t and he never would.
“Forgot,” you huffed in frustration. “You forgot. Again. Because Nancy is the only thing that occupies your brain anymore.”
“That’s not true!!”
“Then what the hell is the truth, then, Steve?! Tell me the damn truth!”
A blank look overtook your best friend’s face as you grew silent after your outburst. You hadn’t meant to lash out at him like you did. It was a therapeutic feeling, though. After watching from the sidelines for so long, having that chance to really tell Steve how you really felt was…freeing. After a moment, you gave up on waiting for an answer. It didn’t really matter what he had to say. You said your piece and now you needed to move on before it was far too late, not only for your friendship – but for yourself.
Heaving a heavy sigh, you bit your lower lip and grabbed your backpack back up from off the floor. Steve barely registered your movements, only coming back to the real world just before you started down the stairs. You heard his voice call out your name as you walked out the front door, but you had to ignore it. This Christmas, you needed to move on. You needed to let go of Steve Harrington, even if it hurt like hell.
= = = = = = = = = = =
You hadn’t spoken to Steve for the rest of that day. When he called later that evening, you let it go to voicemail. At school, you ignored him outside of classes, being quick to spot some random “friend” of yours that you hardly knew. You spent most of the day after helping your younger sister get ready for the snow ball, no matter how much she argued that having her older sibling help was practically a dramatic attempt for social suicide.
Well, at least she wasn’t going to the Snow Ball in what she thought was the epitome of fashion (which it was most definitely not). Resisting the urge to ruffle her hair, you all but shoved her out the door to the car. Why put all of your hard work to waste and let her be late for the event?
The last thing on your mind was if you would cross paths with Steve in the parking lot. Given everything that had gone on since your last conversation, it wasn’t as if he was at the forefront of your thoughts. At this point, your main focus was on making sure your little sister had the best Snow Ball ever, even if it meant you needed to sit and monitor a punch bowl for three hours.
After placing the keys in the ignition, you drove to the biggest event your middle school sister could ever dream to have. As you entered the parking lot of Hawkins Middle School, you could already tell that no expense had been spared with the event planning committee’s strenuous budget. Balloons and streamers littered the walls in a variety of pale winter colors. You were almost glad that you had opted to dress you and your sister in darker tones, as it would help you stand out against the backdrops.
Once parked, your sister couldn’t wait to get out of the car. She made a beeline for the sign-in sheet and was quick to start catching up with her new friend, Max. After you signed yourself in, you couldn’t help but look around for Dustin. You had half expected him to be here by now, but there was no sign of the curly haired genius child.
A crowded room, friends with tired eyes
I'm hiding from you and your soul of ice
Despite your vehement wishes for Steve not to show up, you couldn’t help the sinking feeling in your chest when you didn’t see him walk through the doors. You wanted him not to show up, it’s what you had hoped for all along… Right? But the heavy feeling in your chest and the spiraling thoughts inside of your head said otherwise. You tried to distract yourself with ever-so-important punch monitor duties, dragging the ladle through the liquid to create ripples within the bowl.
About an hour into your self-made prison, you heard the sound of a throat clearing in front of you. Oh. Oh no. As you glanced up, you locked eyes with the boy you had spent the last few days trying to avoid. Steve wasn’t dressed up, not really. He had on his favorite red sweater and a pair of Levi’s. Even with the curious look of concern etched into his features, he still looked incredibly Steve-like.
My God, I thought you were someone to rely on
Me? I guess I was a shoulder to cry on
Now that feeling in your chest blossomed into something incredibly unwanted that would make you forgive Steve in the span of a fraction of a second. This time, it was familiar. It was the same feeling that made you hold onto the thought of him finally dating you for oh so long.
“Hey,” he stuttered. “Can I, uh, have some punch, please?”
“Pretty sure it’s just for the kids,” you couldn’t help the sharpness to your tone.
“I could make sure it’s not spiked?” he offered weakly. The puppy eyes he gave you were enough to make you want to put your hands over your face, if not just to resist the temptation of forgiving him oh-so-quickly. You knew it would hurt even more if you let him back into your heart. So why were you longing to pour some punch in a glass in a peace-making gesture?
Deep down, you knew why.
It was because it was Steve, the boy you had known since the two of you could crawl (albeit not very well on his part). This was the guy who spent every minute of summer break in your backyard, talking for hours about the things he wanted to do when he could finally get away from his home – to finally be free. This was Steve, your best friend, who knew your favorite ice cream flavor and your favorite movies. It wouldn’t matter how many times he broke your heart, because he would always be there, in the back of your mind and your most important memories.
“That’s, uh,” you cleared your throat, “that’s why people like me are on the payroll, I’m afraid. This punch has already passed inspection. Although, I’m sure Nance might need some help at table seven.”
“I don’t want to help Nancy,” Steve explained as a bite of frustration crept into his tone. “I want to focus on you.”
Your words rang back to you in what you had spit at him during your fight. Nancy is the only thing that occupies your brain anymore. You hated that he still held onto that. Despite the truth to those words you had said, regret slithered around your heart and crushed it in a vice-like grip. Was there truly any more hope towards a relationship between you and Steve?
“Then why do I find that so hard to believe?”
“Because I’ve messed up,” Steve said honestly. “I’ve messed up, but I really, really want to be able to make it up to you. Please, let me make this up to you.”
A sigh escaped your lips and your gaze traveled back down to the punch bowl before you. It would be an internal battle, this decision. But really, what else did you have to lose? He had already shattered your heart before. What’s one more time? “And how do you expect to do that, Harrington?”
His hand dipped into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small box, which was horribly wrapped. The edges of your lips twitched in an attempt to silence your laughter at how poor his wrapping job truly was.
“What’s this?” you asked.
“A present… for you. I just… I thought you should have it, y’know, in case you won’t let me do anything for Christmas. As awful as it sounds, I figured you’d actually take the present in public rather than in private… I know you hate me. I’ve been an awful friend.”
Hate. For some reason, that word just bothered you. Did you really hate Steve? After everything the two of you had been through as kids, would this really be the end of your friendship?
Swallowing hard, you reached your hand out wordlessly for the gift. “For the record,” you mused as you picked at the paper, “I don’t hate you. I’m just…I guess I don’t know how to feel. I said some things and you…well, you didn’t. I don’t know where that leaves us now.”
“I… I don’t really know where that leaves us either,” Steve said quietly. “But what I do know is I don’t want to lose you.”
Without another word, you started to rip at the wrapping paper. After removing its disguise, you discovered it was a small silver box. You frowned up at Steve in confusion as you lifted the lid off of the top. What you saw surprised you even more. Placed on a bed of crushed purple velvet sat a silver letter “S”.
“You decided to get me something with your initial?” you asked, unamused.
“It’s not- It’s not to mark you as mine or stupid shit like that!” Steve spit out. “I uh… I just uh…” He somehow managed to pull himself together enough to say, “I want to be yours. I want to gift you flowers and make you breakfast and point at random stars in the night sky and act like I know the story behind constellations I still can’t see. And most of all… I want to remind you that you are always going to take priority. I don’t want anyone else.”
“But- but what about Nancy?” you asked, wide eyes locked onto his own soft gaze.
“It’s not about Nancy anymore,” he replied. “To be honest with you, I don’t think it ever really was. See, when Nance…when she left me, I think I just– well, I think I felt pretty stupid. Like maybe, maybe there was something wrong with me. I was a jerk these last few years. No, no, I was more than a jerk. I was a real dick. And I guess…” He hesitated before he continued. “I guess I was afraid if I even tried to find someone else, I’d just screw it up like I normally do.”
You frowned. “You don’t screw things up, Steve.”
“No, I did,” he argued. “I really, really did.”
“You didn’t-” you started again.
“If I didn’t screw things up, then why didn’t I have the guts to tell you I loved you six years ago?”
“Because I didn’t have the guts to tell you that I loved you either.”
The two of you stood in silence for several minutes, eyes flickering around the room to find something– anything– to talk about and break the spell. Something had changed between the two of you now and there was definitely no going back. While part of you wanted to scream of happiness from Steve’s confession, another part of you was scared. What if you tried and it messed everything up even more? What if you lost Steve entirely?
As if he sensed your unease, Steve took a few steps around the side of the table. His hand found your own as he laced his fingers with yours. The other hand went to your cheek, cradling your face gently. His eyes searched yours as he leaned closer, his cologne sweeping through your senses and preventing smells other than him from making their way to you. Lips grazed yours as both your eyes shuttered closed, bodies leaning into one another.
Finally, finally you were kissing Steve Harrington…and he was kissing you back.
Maybe this Christmas wouldn’t be so bad after all.
