Jesse: Yumyulack got a text message from an unknown person who wants to fight us at sundown!

Korvo: He does?! We better move fast! First thing!

Meanwhile at Ophelia's fortress...

Ophelia: Hmm… so an orb piece was tainted?

Ophelia: As if it was touched by some dark space stuff?

I am done with my first Baldur's Gate 3 playthrough and it has been a hell of an emotional journey for me. I wanted to play this game just because of its hype and I saw the video which shows that we can seduce a druid in its bear form and thought wow that is incredible. I was in pretty depressed mode before playing it and the game itself did a fantastic job of lifting my spirits. I was like, wow so good things also are happening in life and the writing of this game is a living proof of that. Despite all of its ups and downs, it is evident that this game is made with love.

I loved each companion's arc and how they revolve around the theme of freedom, escape from a powerful figure, a tyrant you may say, and a very complex conflict about power. I got the good ending but it did not really help them with their problems that existed before this Illithid thing came around. I killed Cazador and freed Astarion but he is trapped in the shadows again. I convinced Gale to not go after Karsus' crown but then again he still has to live with the orb I guess? Karlach and Wyll went back to Avernus, a place where they hoped never to see again. Shadowheart saved herself from another cult but she has no idea who she was before and she also lost her parents. I did not discover the mountain pass route, so Lae'zel still believes her queen and follows her, but there is always the possibility she is going to be executed once she steps into Githyanki soil. All their character arcs come to what Raphael said before its legendary fight at the end: "Take away their free will, they will call you a tyrant. Allow them to indulge it, and they become tyrants." Oh man, by the way, let's take a moment to appreciate Raphael. This is how you construct a character who is "the devil." He is perfect, in every sense of the word. I loved every banter with him and his fight was epic. You don't see this kind of fight in any game. It was like a scene from a movie but also even better.

My only complaint regarding plots and characters is that Orin's and Gortash's plots are rather superficial compared to Ketheric Thorm's. Especially Gortash, I expected more from him I guess. All those glorious character designs are kind of wasted on mini-boss fights and the insights we gained about them are simply not enough to satisfy my curiosity. They just die at the end, and nothing happens.

The ending seemed a bit of haste to me, but still, it was a joyful and breathtaking journey. I am so glad to meet all of these characters and to be introduced to this universe. Thank you Baldur's Gate for making my mundane life bearable, even for a short time.

Ashe let out a 'pffbt' at what he had to say in general, but honestly she couldn't fathom, as said, saving a entire region ( two, really ), at the age of ten through fourteen. "Mind boggling you were able to undo Team Rocket anyway. I mean, they're like a big Mafia or somethin' right?... or were. I here sometimes rumors that they're still going strong underground. People talk about 'em anyway."

A pause comes from her at the mention of Mewtwo being grumpy and Jawbreaker getting hurt.

"If Mew got hurt..." She felt the legendary's presence land on her head, perching there lovingly. "... I think it might hurt me as bad as if Lucky or one of my other pokemon got hurt. If he was mad at me, i'd be mad at myself." She admits. "... I also get the one, the only, the one that's been with you partner getting hurt." She gently pet Lucky's head, a purr coming from him. "He's been by my side for so long and I just... yeah. I get it." She shifts her gaze to Jawbreaker. "I'm sure if you got hurt, Jawbreaker would be just as upset." She points out. "Lucky would make vegetables out of people... actually, all my pokemon would."

She gives a pause at the mention of fossils and Gigantamaxing. She shakes her head. "There isn't a Dynamax point in Blueberry Academy. At most you'll want to bring Z-Crystals or Mega Stones. Fossil pokemon could be something, but it would depend on if things changed from when I was a student." She paused. "Fossil research was just beginning to be a thing and bringing them back happened when I was fourteen. The first Carracosta had been revived in the region around that time." She pauses again. "Mega Stones and Z-Crystals have been around for a long time and aren't as accessible to students... so it's worth a try, anyway. Hell, maybe even those Tera Orbs that they have in Paldea."

Hm. Okay. Just trying to get my thoughts together.

Jin - always loved the open sky, liked being up in high places. Maybe they had dreams of " a sky lizard"? Not helping the Draconid allegations, but maybe that'll better connect them to Rayquaza before the story. Getting the meteorite that would later be given to Rayquaza would maybe cause those dreams to pop up again? Maybe prophetic dreams of the future events in the game ( with the fight between Kyogre and Groudon and later the part where Rayquaza comes down to stop them)

Amber - I don't think she was always connected to her Chooser like Jin was, but bc of her already love for the earth, she felt Something regarding the red orb. That feeling only grew when she grabbed it.

Wally - probably the most unexpected - took the blue orb with Amber, trying to command Kyogre, and it somehow worked. Slightly. I think, maybe, Kyogre imprinted on Wally after being slightly moved by his command, hence why he became a Chosen.

Kenji - Saw Ho-Oh flying over Johto as a child! No one really believed him but he knows what he saw. It's as if Ho-Oh wanted him to see it...

Aiko: Similar to Kenji but kinda more dangerous - was one a boat trip with her Uncle Chuck when a storm picked up. Thankfully everyone was okay, but the more important thing was that Aiko sworn up and down that she saw a big sea bird through the haze of the storm....and it felt like it was looking back at her. Despite everything around her...she wasn't scared. If anything, she was simply curious.

Beryl - Need to work on that

Silver - 100% related to that Celebi event. Though there was nothing prior that suggested Silver was ever going to become a Chosen. Though he could have been one for Ho-Oh or Lugia.

Danica: Giratina, in its loneliness, decided to latch itself onto a fellow lonely child- Danica. In doing that the two would become fast friends - though Danica would end up thinking her shadowy friend was simply an imaginary one. Giratina still looked after Danica throughout the years, acting a bit like a guardian angel for her.

Kiran - Not a Chosen but has Arceus' blood in him so. Yeah.

Alexis - this is where things get complicated. Alexis never had gotten dreams of a legendary, or saw something in his youth. The title of Hero of Ideals was kinda thrown at him. And yet it wrung true. Zekrom did end up Choosing Alexis, maybe being a soft presence with him ever since he had gotten the black orb. Alexis is interesting bc even without any fanfare, he was always the person who represented ideals.

Elliot - while she wasn't Chosen the first time by Reshiram - N found it first and thus, it's bonds where formed - she was always someone who could embody Truth. The only problem was that BW was not her time, not her story. By the end of b2w2, though, N decides to continue his path without his powers, and thus, Reshiram saw it fit to Choose Elliot.

Eva - Came out of nowhere. It happened suddenly. Kyurem was never the type to have a Chosen. Never. And yet, after the events of b2w2, it decides to break that pattern, and choose the girl who saved it. Maybe it was a form of gratitude. Or maybe, more likely, it was a way of ensuring it's survival - having a Chosen means having someone to call when things get bad. Again. Eva was a very abrupt Chosen.

Wayne - The Swords of Justice are not privy to humans. They taught Keldeo to be wary, to not trust a human. And Keldeo, being a good student, did. But when the threat of Neo Team Plasma arrived, to the point where they felt the need to require the help of a human. If any of them were to Choose someone, it would have been either Eva or Hugh. And yet, Keldeo couldn't help but keep an eye on Wayne. Despite his past, despite the people he called family hurting others and him being a part of it- despite all that Wayne tries so hard to keep moving forward, to keep trying to do good. That's what drawn Keldeo to Wayne. That's what made Keldeo the first of its group to have a Chosen ( at least. As far as we're aware of).

Jude and Dante, I feel, would require a rewrite of sorts. I think I could do more with them and their status as Chosens. Or rather, how they got to that point.

Ames - Was Mom Number 2 for Nebby lmao. Upon evolving, wasn't even aware it had Chosen Amsonia. They did not discover this until a bit later. In general, Amsonia likes the night. They like the quiet, they like how the darkness is comforting, they like how bright the moon is. So it makes sense,really , to be Chosen by a moon deity.

Ray is also someone I need to figure out since. Well. He's gonna be the Chosen of Solgaleo. I need to find a way for all of that to happen.

Naomi - We all know the story. Dad was supposed to be Chosen but got Cursed as well, and when he died, it passed onto her. Gradually the Curse was broken and she became a Chosen. I think ever since she was a child, she always felt a ....pull, from the Wields, but was either pulled away from it or too afraid to go in

Hop - Similar to Naomi minus the curse stuff. Always felt a pull from the Wields and wanted to explore it so bad but was also a tiiiiiny bit afraid of it

Luca - mother fucker was the first thing Terapogos sees lmao. Though bc of his ancestry, Luca does feel some sort of connection to Area Zero. The place feels... familiar?

R.B - I still don't know if she's gonna be the Chosen of Pecharunt. Honestly, I kinda don't see her as it, more just the babysitter of it lmao.

here's a list of things i love about PSMD for no reason other than i think it deserves appreciation (spoilers)

the hero gets adopted by a nuzleaf. Hero, a young child that doesn't know why they were brought into this world, attacked by beheeyem, scared and alone, finds someone that takes them under his wing and gives them a home. it's really sweet that once Nuzleaf brings them to the Village, Hero's not alone anymore.

yes it was all a trick, he deceived you. but being betrayed by your father figure hits so much harder. it's much more personal, especially when both Hero and Partner are kids. and when Nuzleaf goes through all that ordeal in the post game, then gets accepted back into the village?? And his little speech to Hero????? it's heartbreaking and incredibly touching at the same time

everything is just so cute!!!! you go to school with your new friendo and you're friends with the schoolkids, and you make the trip to school every morning taking in the scenery, the smell of dew and fresh grass, and the sun on your face... and you take classes about Mystery Dungeon mechanics, and principal Simipour is a big BRO, the school nurse Audino is super kind and helpful... and you get to play with your pokemon friendos in summer vacation, and explore a dungeon with 'em... AND your bond with your Partner begins to form, getting stronger and stronger from then on. PSMD's beginning arc is so warm and pleasant, it's like reliving childhood memories all over again, when things were happier and you didn't have to worry about how cruel the world is. this story section's one purpose is to get the player used to the game's mechanics, as well as foreshadowing. unfortunately most of the school kids get forgotten later on, but I still love this part for everything it is, even if unintentional.

it's not just the beginning that's cute. PSMD'S ENTIRE WORLD IS ADORABLE. It's just filled with life every town you go. there are a bunch of pokemon locals and they all have interesting things to say, in the main story and the post-game. there's a point where their comments get repetitive, but that's bound to happen in any PMD game. Even then, the days are never the same. one morning you wake up and the Lively Town locals are exercising, then the next they're having singing lessons, and then they're practicing martial arts. and you get to connect with (or recruit) some of them just by.... chatting!!! Sitting next to that big ol' venusaur and sharing stories, laughing and having fun. it's good stuff.

Sometimes you find travelling pokemon in dungeons and it's jsut the coolest thing. Imagine you're exploring a dungeon, then your Connection Orb notifies you there's a fellow explorer in the floor. First thing you do is try to find them, and when you do - oh dang a travelling Archeops!!!! And then they just,,,, exchange their experiences and thoughts on exploration and how hard it is to fend off those enemies and the cool treasure they found the other day (the game calls it "[Team Name] and [Traveller pokemon] compared notes"). then the traveller heals you, fills your belly and restores your PP. and they go on their way. idk man it's such a cute interaction. explorers chatting, empathizing and helping each other, bc their job is not an easy one...

PSMD Partner is the most developed Partner in any PMD game yet. They start off as this naive, hyperactive kiddo, then stuff happens, and worse stuff happens, and you get to see how they grow and change and by the end they're a different person than they were before (in more than one way ...). It's just so nice to be by their side, from the beginning to the bitter end, and watch their growth. in contrast, Hero is a little unbalanced in that their backstory is not explored as much, and their personality is kind of a blank - probs meant to be vague so the player can be in their shoes. to me this just gives you the opportunity to shape their character however you want, so you can have tons of different hero/pardner dynamics.

The music is rlly flippin' good. Some of the tracks are recycled from previous entries, but when they go original??? it's a blast!!! "Echoes of the Mystical Forest" is one of my favorites in all four entries, it has no right being so amazing for a random dungeon. "Time to Set Out" makes me cry immediately (also i think it would be a better fit for the parting ways scene at the end...). Don't even get me started on "Second Dark Matter Battle", it has everything an epic climax needs and MORE. the Partner remix????? absolute genius

speaking of which, Dark Matter ITSELF,, is freaking amazing. Its actions were foreshadowed in the very beginning, though they were not blatant through the game. i do think they could have done a better job at showing the pokemon's negativity raising in the world, as well as negative feelings in the characters... but it's not like Gates did a good job at it, either (outside of cutscenes, all the locals in Post Town are incredibly nice to you and fights didn't "break out often". it's like the game tells you the world is a dark place, but what it shows in gameplay doesn't add up). so i'll cut them some slack. Still, I find Dark Matter a more compelling villain than the Bittercold for several reasons. it is sentient. its speech is a jumbled amount of voices all talking at the same time - the anguished voices of the world. It actually concocted a plan to hurl the planet into the Sun, using pawns like Nuzleaf and Yveltal to do its dirty job. in the Voidlands, Hero and Partner discover its past, and how it'll come back after defeat, like a cycle. when Partner accepts Dark Matter, they accept negative feelings as something everyone has within themselves. Most of all, the fact that Dark Matter is a manifestation of negative feelings doesn't make it just a generic threat, a final obstacle to be defeated so the world can be saved. It makes Dark Matter - negativity itself - a natural part of the world, the yin to its yang. and that's why I LOVE IT SO MUCH DANG IT EVEN THANKS PARTNER FOR THEIR ACCEPTANCE

The fact that Dark Matter can possess pokemon that have "even the smallest amount of darkness in their hearts". it makes me think of Mr. Nuzleaf and what he might have gone through in the past to make him so easy to be controlled. Did he hold a grudge against someone?? Did he commit a crime?? Had Nuzleaf always been malicious???? And if so, is this why he shows so much remorse in the post-game??????? because he had always been this vile fiend and then he met this small kid and got attached, but still carried on with his evil actions because his malice was still stronger than the positive feelings and Dark Matter's hold on him intensified?????? I don't know!!!! and as much as i wish the game could have given us that sweet mr. Nuzleaf backstory, it's pretty fun to have freedom to come up with your own version.

Everything about Super's climax is just phenomenal. Every single flippin' legendary is there to help you. Arceus is in the game. MEWTWO IS THERE. and when things are looking hopeless, they really seem hopeless. First the Tree of Life is dying, then your allies get turned into stone and sent to hell The Voidlands, Arceus gets turned into stone, the entire world is stone (except for several mon' that are still safe and holding onto hope, but they're so few). Your Harmony Scarves stop working and you and your Partner are back to your feeble, basic stage forms. You are bordering exhaustion, you have no Emeras, it's just you and your Partner against an eldritch abomination that's killing the life on the entire planet like a parasite, devouring all hope. but you still fight back. Given how adults in the game always discourage the village children from going adventuring, that they cannot do this or that because they're so little and fragile, it's awesome how Hero and Partner beat Dark Matter as tiny kids.

PSMD is not a flawless game. in fact there's plenty of things that hold it back and i even mentioned some... but it's still full of love put into it and it resonates w me more than PMD Explorers of T/D/S and Gates to Infinity (Rescue Team is a close second). its my all-time favorite PMD game.

fjord’s feelings for caduceus changed in episodes 98-99

by which i mean, fjord finally realized how special and important he is to caduceus, which in turn set the tone of their relationship for the rest of the campaign. buckle up, this is a long one.

not when fjord threw away his sword and went to caduceus instead of jester. or when caduceus presented him with the star razor. or after the citadel fight when caduceus gave him his holy symbol. i think things changed for fjord in episode 98-99, when caduceus saved his life and removed the orb.

this is going to require some context.

because here’s the thing: fjord’s always looking for the price, waiting for the catch or other shoe to drop. people caring for him because of him with no strings attached is unprecedented. vandren and the world taught fjord that love is conditional, that only if you hide what others would find ugly and make yourself useful to them will they deign to give you a scrap of affection. i don’t think vandren did this maliciously, mind you, it was just part of his worldview and fjord’s life up to and beyond that point supported it. we can see that right up to the end of the show, where fjord is terrified that vandren didn’t remember him or that he didn’t mean nearly as much to the man as vandren did to him.

so we have fjord, who learned to don masks and hide his truest self, including his best and worst aspects. while fjord made the nein into a coherent group, into a force, a crew, a family, even, he still waited for that other shoe to drop. waited for the day that they would reject him because he was no longer useful or because he pushed them too far. you can see this waiting all over the early campaign; he’s not looking for an excuse like caleb to cut and run but he anticipates nearly all the moments that almost fractured the nein, in spite of that low wisdom score. while jester carried the guilt of not being able to save molly, fjord carried the guilt of not protecting the group in that crucial moment. travis confirmed on talks that fjord’s biggest fear when he lost his powers the first time was that he would no longer be useful and be kicked out of the group. 

that’s why fjord damn near broke down at the end of 72. the nein, no questions asked, with their standard level of snark, accepted that he was going to be a liability and kept him around anyway. armed him anyway. declared that he was no liability and that they would help him along until he could help himself and them again. this unconditional acceptance caught fjord completely off guard. it always does, really. because caduceus had said for months, an out of game half a year, that he was looking to reforge the sword as a gift for fjord. he said this to fjord’s face. he did not change course when he learned that the sword was a legendary blade forged by acolytes of the wildmother and moonweaver. the blade was still meant for fjord, even if fjord was still chained to uk’otoa. fjord extends his love and protection to the nein but is still not convinced the reverse is true. he was starting to believe it but he wasn’t quite there yet.

caduceus has a high enough wisdom to understand that’s fjord’s hang up even if he doesn’t quite understand the reasoning behind it. that’s why he pulls fjord aside in ep 75 and tells him that he doesn’t have to choose the wildmother, that there are other gods and other ideas out there looking for a champion. fjord, who at this point considers wildmom his only option (travis says she’s the only one who’s shown the slightest interest in fjord and that’s why he’s gunning for her), is befuddled by caduceus and this whole talk, so much so the pair end up talking past each other for the next several episodes.

after fjord officially becomes a paladin, things between him and caduceus become fairly...unsettled compared to their previous interactions. they talk past each other more, they aren’t in sync enough to double team those social interactions they were just starting to get good at. things are just weird for a while. to me, that’s fjord waiting for the catch, waiting for caduceus to call in some favor or something like it. and he keeps getting confused when caduceus doesn’t. so he tries once or twice to follow in caduceus’ footsteps and do as he would instead. and it just makes things weirder. these two don’t have a moment together that doesn’t leave one of them confused or unsatisfied until ep 87, when caduceus gives fjord the holy symbol and inadvertently kicks off the next phase of their relationship. because here, caduceus tries to put them back on equal footing and fjord recognizes it. caduceus rejects framing their relationship as mentor/student and tells fjord he doesn’t need caduceus to give him answers. fjord is “well on his way.”

by defining what they aren’t, mentor/student, our two boys inadvertently ask the question, “so what are we?” honestly, it’s a question that the entire group grapples with in the 90s as they reintegrate yasha, as veth struggles with the question of changing back and whether she can stay with the nein, as beau tries to sacrifice herself for veth, as jester learns some uncomfortable truths about the traveler, as caduceus finds his family again. fjord and caduceus can easily define what they aren’t - not mentor/student, not brothers or cousins- but what they actually are stumps both of them.

their relationship doesn't look like any of their relationships with the others: beau is fjord's bro and first mate, caleb is fjord's complicated mirror and admiree, jester his crush and first person he learned to be vulnerable with, veth his antagonistic sibling. on caduceus' side, caleb is the one he looks to for a fellow project nerd and clear, unvarnished goals, beau and jester are the sisters caduceus misses, yasha the quiet beloved barbarian he understands better than the rest, and veth a mess he wants to help but can't. but fjord and caduceus' relationship is highly undefined at this point. notably undefined, beyond their newly shared connection to melora. at the dinner with essek, we get the stone bomb. and travis and fjord panic. like no, seriously, they spend the next four episodes low key panicking over this revelation. this ties back to fjord waiting for those other shoes to drop but it’s also more than that.

when it comes to destiny, fjord has always been the answer, the self made man, to both caduceus and caleb’s questions about destiny. he makes choices about who he is, who he wants to be, and takes actions towards those goals. he is one of those rare people who can wear many different masks, take on many different roles, while still maintaining his sense of self and becoming a fuller version of who he is. when I say fjord is the answer to destiny, what i mean is that he is what ioun said way back in c1 about Fate: mortals make choices and through those choices, destiny is fulfilled. he is the answer to caduceus' own growth from passive instrument waiting for someone to play him to active communicator in this conversation between gods and mortals. in this sense, fjord is what caduceus learns to be (this is exactly why caduceus rejects a mentor role; he has as much to learn from fjord as vice versa).

so for this coincidence to pop up, this idea that maybe fjord only had the illusion of choice to extend his service to the wildmother, that maybe somehow he was manipulated again, that there was some grand destiny pushing things and fjord had no say in it, yeah, i can see why fjord was low-key terrified. so is this what fjord and caduceus are: just some predestined grand fairy tale partnership neither of them have that much say in? episode 96 resoundingly rejects that label too. for one thing, none of the stones or clays treat fjord's last name as anything amazing or spectacular. for another, this string of episodes gives us caduceus at his most human. the terror of not knowing what happened to his family, the uncertainty of his homecoming, the relief of saving his family and home, the irritation at the way the chaos crew treats the temple, the playful attitude caduceus cultivates after, it's all on display. caduceus drops much of his placid exterior and willingly allows the nein to see sheer depth of emotion he has.

which leads me back to episode 98-99. uk’otoa’s agents come for fjord. and caduceus is pissed. travis and ashley both said on talks that they hadn’t really seen taliesin that pissed, that it was like someone had threatened an actual loved one of his. fjord dies. and comes back to an exhausted, still pissed off firbolg who is five seconds away from snapping archmage vess derogna’s head off for interrupting his prayer of healing. taliesin doesn’t even begin to relax until they start interrogating the dead fish people the next day. once caduceus confirms the ball is still in fjord, notably caduceus and caleb were the two who remembered, fjord starts asking for a way to remove it. he asks caduceus to start a commune with wildmom in tandem with jester’s commune with the traveler. caleb tells fjord that caduceus fought “very hard for you while you were down, i don’t know if he’s up to it.” having heard that, caduceus still tries, with his first divine intervention attempt of the campaign. and when jester figures out that greater restoration will work, caduceus pushes through his exhaustion, takes charge, and goes through a truly terrifying greater restoration with fjord to remove the ball. convulsing, seizing, shuddering, collapsing, etc.

in those moments, and in the quiet after when fjord confirms that he still has his powers, it finally hits him that yes, people can protect, fight, and love him for who he is alone. there is no chain or other shoe waiting to be dropped here. the wildmother is no uk’otoa, to punish or take power at a whim. caduceus will fight with everything he has and then some for fjord because he loves him (not for nothing does fjord only realizes the depths of jester’s feelings when she uses heal on him). who are caduceus and fjord to each other? they are people who will fight for one another and the others as far as they can. fjord says over and over again that he wants to protect the nein and look out for them because he cares for them. he demonstrates it over and over again as well. caduceus says basically the same thing; he wants everyone safe and happily on their way and will stay until they are. he demonstrates this all the time as well. this is, i think, the first time that he demonstrates his dedication so unequivocally, free of the artifice of duty, fully committed through love. fjord recognizes this in caduceus and caduceus does in fjord.

i say this is a turning point because, while they don’t really have another super in depth conversation alone together, these two start clocking each other and openly help and look out for each other. there’s an ease and intimacy to the relationship after this. fjord watching caduceus swim near vokodo’s lair, fjord being ready to hand over his armor to caduceus when it looks like his won’t be ready, fjord, caduceus, and beau plotting behind jester’s back to keep her safe from the traveler, the absolute offense fjord takes to eadwulf after he spoke to caduceus like that, fjord levels up in paladin after caduceus tells him he’s proud to know him, all the way to the end of the show when fjord shelters the clerics and tells them to finish lucien, we get little moments like these from both of them. hell, caduceus is the first person in the campaign to tell fjord directly that he loves him.

anyway who wants an obnoxiously long list of future trio post-special-episode-five headcanons?

- dusknoir originally planned to leave the group go off on his own post-special episode 5, assuming their team-up was temporary and grovyle and celebi wouldn’t want to hang around with their former enemy long term. grovyle and celebi insist on sticking with him, since the three of them worked well as a team during the trek up vast ice mountain. they also feel a sense of connection to dusknoir thanks to their shared ordeal. it’s awkward at first, due to lingering feelings of resentment/guilt between them, but they work through it and become super close.

-in dungeons, grovyle tends to take on a leader/direct attacking role. dusknoir tends to be more tactical/defensive. celebi knows heal bell and knows the bodyguard skill so she usually takes on a support role (managing items/figuring out directions/etc), but she’s easily the strongest fighter of the trio.

-the three of them work as an exploration team of sorts to help fix the damage caused by the planet’s paralysis. they also work really closely with dialga on that (bc legendary powers and whatnot) and it’s uncomfortable for everyone. tfw your boss has tried to kill you and your entire polycule on multiple occasions. 

-grovyle and dusknoir bicker constantly, but not out of genuine anger. it’s kinda like a “safe” way of interacting for them that doesn’t get into all the messy shit between them from when they were enemies. on at least one occasion, grovyle has smacked dusknoir in the head with their treasure bag during an argument.

-at first, grovyle feels completely aimless without a clear mission. he and dusknoir have a heart to heart about this and dusknoir turns grovyle’s words from special episode 5 back around on him. basically saying like. the idea of proving you exist through actions/etc doesn’t just apply for big things like dying to save the world, but anything you do to make the world/the lives of people around you better. grovyle finds it helpful. 

-one of the side effects of having lived in a paralyzed world for so long is that their sleep/wake cycles are really off. grovyle also sleeps like shit in general. despite this, they like to wake up super early and watch the sunrise together. 

-grovyle has a knack for using items in unusual ways in dungeons. like that time in the future where he uses a luminous orb to temporarily blind dusknoir+the sableye so he can escape.

- since dusknoir is used to exploring solo, it takes a while to adjust to being part of a team. even though he became famous by working on his own, he likes being with grovyle and celebi more. 

-grovyle is ABYSMAL when it comes to cooking. dusknoir and celebi have taken over that area for everyone’s safety. no food poisoning or accidental fires in this house, thanks. 

-dusknoir and grovyle tend to be really intense most of the time and celebi tries to get them to lighten up and relax. sometimes she’ll use her time travel powers to cause shenanigans to make them laugh.

-celebi doesn’t just say “my dear” when referring to grovyle, but anyone she’s very close to, like the hero. the first time she uses it for dusknoir, he nearly shits his pants. (this headcanon actually came from a pmd2 fan comic i made at age 12 but that’s another story)

-grovyle and celebi have a really easygoing friendship since they’ve known each other longest. even though he’s usually quite reserved, grovyle is a lot more relaxed and open around her. they're also pretty casual about physical affection and the like so shit like them embracing while watching the sunrise is just normal. 

-dusknoir’s self-preservation sorta shifts into being intensely protective of grovyle and celebi. grass types DO have a lot of weaknesses and all. similarly, grovyle and celebi tend to be very reckless. they both assumed they’d die when history was changed so their own personal safety was never a priority.

-celebi likes to tease dusknoir about various things because she finds his reactions funny. he tries to act smart and dignified regardless of the circumstances but it’s pretty easy to rile him up. since dusknoir is the tallest of the group, she likes to sit on his shoulder. he allows it. 

-it’s obvious that both celebi and dusknoir have a crush on grovyle. instead of being at odds because of this, they’re supportive of each other. grovyle is completely oblivious for a long time, despite how much he cares about them both.

-the sableye see dusknoir as a weird older brother/father figure. this extends to grovyle and celebi once it’s clear that the three of them have become a permanent group.

-when grovyle is trying to make a big decision/figure out some mystery, he talks to himself as if he’s talking to the hero. if anyone calls him on it, he gets defensive and tells them to fuck off. losing the hero is still a sore spot for him. 

-none of them are very great at dealing with their emotions. celebi acts cheery all the time to mask what she’s really feeling. grovyle is so intensely practical he completely pushes emotion to the side until it kicks his ass at random moments. dusknoir is repressed as hell thanks to denying his true feelings about the state of the world for so long. they're doing their best. 

-since celebi is a legendary, every now and then she says some totally abstract/weird shit that goes totally over grovyle and dusknoirs heads.

- grovyle and celebi both swear all the time. dusknoir refuses to say anything stronger than “damn.” it’s grovyle and celebi’s personal goal to get him to say fuck.  

-since grovyle and dusknoir have been to the past but celebi hasn’t, they like to point out places that they went to in the past/places that look similar when they’re travelling with her. “hey celebi, this is where i had to rescue hero and partner from a bunch of manectric/electrike” when passing through the future’s version of amp plains and that kinda thing.

-it IS possible to use the passage of time to visit the past, but all three of them are hesitant to do so for different reasons. they do go back for a visit eventually but it takes a long time for them to come to that decision. 

-celebi suggested that the trio should wear team scarves like the hero and partner. grovyle and dusknoir both said “that’s ridiculous” but ended up giving in when they realized how excited she was.

I really want Wild Rift to add a feature where you can earn legendary skins, like in the pc you can by clutch bags or orbs from an event and you can have a chance to earn legendary skins

Granted there's not many legendary skins in Wild Rift as of now, I think there's only five. And the reward system is very different from the pc.

Wild Rift has this thing called a "poro chest" which you get after saving 5000 poro energy (harder to get than it actually sounds). You get poro energy by buying things at the poro store.

Now, I want Wild Rift to add a feature where every month, a single day, just that one day, you have a chance to earn a legendary skin from the poro chest. If you miss that day, sorry, you're gonna have to wait another month.

Like imagine, you've been saving up that poro chest for a month for this "lucky day" because you really want a legendary skin and then manage to get one, wouldn't that be fun?

The new seasonal banner was leaked

Recently, PM1 has uploaded a video regarding a recent official leak on the upcoming seasonal banner, in it you'll find all of the information (link here).

I'll also talk about the unit choices, I'll hide the details right below in case you'd rather wait for the trailer, but if you prefer to learn about the next batch of new units soon as you can to help yourself with planning — like me — then go ahead and watch the video and/or read further below!

The new seasonal units are listed on an official announcement from the game's Twitter account, the thread was apparently deleted 12h after being posted, but the OP revealed these would be our seasonals (screenshot from PM1's video):

...Man, this is a huge relief, I feel myself even better resolved for Halloween Kagero's return banner.

Of course, there are skills yet to be revealed but even if there's something I'd like to have, I don't feel like I'd have strong enough backup here, and also, the only character I'd care to pull for at this moment would be Kurthnaga, but I'm not crazy enough to go out of my way to pull for him.

Onto the banner things, I've mainly taken extracts of thoughts from PM1's video but I assembled the key info with my own words and added something more. 🙂 So...

The first thing to point out would be Robin, PM1 mentioned that it's likely this alt will be based on the "Male Grima" version, and I actually can attest to that, as Fallen Male Robin's epithet is "Fell Reincarnation", and in here, I.S. made a playoff from that epithet, having only replaced "Fell" with "Fall" (due to the season), they did the same with "Female Grima" last year: "Fell Vessel" → "Fall Vessel".

Next up is Rhea... interesting pick, at least she'll be playable as a lone unit and not cheerleading someone else, I know very little of her so hardly any comments here.

Kurthnaga would most likely be the semi-demote, usually the third unit revealed in every New/Special Heroes trailer falls in the full/semi-demote categories. Depending on the fodder I'll pick one color or the other but I'd like to pick his if nothing else tempting is around in the banner. It also makes sense he's here, as last year we had Dheginsea who's Kurthnaga's father.

And Sothis leads a new Duo Hero, PM1 mentioned that it's likely Male Byleth would be her cohort, that'd indeed be interesting and seemingly logical, but don't quote me on that, I never got to play much from their home game. 😐

Anyway, Halloween units have a tendence to be armored, but here are my class guesses:

Robin would be an armored green dragon like his original version.

Rhea would be an armored colorless tome, just gut feeling and color choice by elimination.

Kurthnaga would be a flying red dragon, likely to match with his father and because dark/fire tends to be associated to red when it comes to magic, plus Kurthnaga can fly like all dragons and if this guess were true, it'd make him stand out even more as a project.

Sothis would be an armored blue dragon, I feel like she'll have some form of "holy breath" but Idk actually... still, I hope someone here enters this class, we still only have Legendary Young Tiki on it. 🤨

As for the trailer, a few users might have expected it to be out by now, however, it didn't happen, I.S. just deleted the leak from their game's official SNS profiles and will post the trailer in the usual timing (should be 52h before banner, so as soon as it's 10/5 for me)... they pretend nothing happened and fire the Intern-kun who leaked the info soon afterwards.

And the free unit wasn't revealed yet! But I really have no guesses on who could they be...

My overall problem with yet another qol feature being added to the pass is that its designed to do it with the intent to make f2p and low spending players feel like they are missing out and that paying players have access to a better, more rewarding version - which they do. There are already people on the sub defending Intsys doing this by trying to spin it like people are angry they arent getting things for free, which is a very disingenuous take. Players have every right to be angry that 1/3

the qol changes they have asked for end up out of reach behind a predatory buisness model. FEH is pretty much splitting into two completely different games and which version you get is based on wether or not you want to buy the pass or not. Almost everything on the pass up until now was the type of changes that netted you some rarer rewards and made the game less grindy. And while you can still grind and get dragonflowers without the pass, summoning has always been based on rng 2/3

I don't really want to go through this point by point like when I have my Reddit Assholesona on but I kind of feel like I have to or I will diverge into one heck of a tangent.

My overall problem with yet another qol feature being added to the pass

This isn't just a "qol" feature like autostart and rewind turn. Those are nice features to have, but they don't fundamentally change the game in some way. Adding sparks to legendary banners will fundamentally change how the game works in some way, which I detailed in my reblog of Ezra's post. Either they need to offset the lost money from banners, creating new banners or adding more units or giving you worse rates or giving out less free orbs to entice you to buy orbs or something, or they need to offset the lost money from banners by forcing you to pay for the privilege. If you think this a simple QoL change then I don't know what to say, other than you don't quite seem to understand the business model of a gacha if you think adding free sparks for everyone wouldn't rock this game's financial economy to its core.

You're just stating the fundamental business model of Gacha here. Yes, paying players get more than free to play players. That has been the business model of this game since the very beginning, it will be until it's death, and it will be for all gacha until the inevitable heat death of the universe or until an entity that actually cares about consumers regulates it. I'm not sure why you were expecting them to diverge from this now. If you want to play a game where F2P players and paying players can be on equal footing you are playing about the worst type of game for that.

There are already people on the sub defending Intsys doing this by trying to spin it like people are angry they arent getting things for free, which is a very disingenuous take.

That's exactly what you're angry about, though? They never promised you would get this feature for free. That was an expectation built up in the heads of the fanbase.

Players have every right to be angry that the qol changes they have asked for end up out of reach behind a predatory buisness model.

You're playing a gacha. It is inherently a predatory business model bent on exploiting the gambling addictions of young adults and children. I don't know why anyone was expecting any different when it was never promised to us.

FEH is pretty much splitting into two completely different games and which version you get is based on wether or not you want to buy the pass or not.

This game has always been two different games depending on how much money you are willing to spend on it. The truth is, even if the spark was added it would do very little to level the playing field. Why? Because you aren't going to acquire enough F2P orbs in order to fully utilize it on every single banner. The truth is, F2P players would acquire a handful of good new units a year, whereas whales will just have an easier time stomping you into the ground.

"So what!" you may say "that's more than we were getting before!" but the problem is, if F2P and the minnows and dolphins and whales start getting too equal, IS will need to do something else to un-equalize the playing field. Because that's how Gacha works. Be that decreased value on the sparkable banners, new banners that are better and unsparkable, lower rates on banners to encourage orb buying, or fewer F2P orbs to ensure F2P players can't catch up without spending money.

Almost everything on the pass up until now was the type of changes that netted you some rarer rewards and made the game less grindy.

And it wasn't worth the ten dollars it cost as it was. People have been complaining about that since it came out: it wasn't a good enough value to be worth the money. Truth is there's nothing they could add to make it worth the money without seriously pissing someone off. Better F2P players than the whales, because the people who don't spend money on the game don't fund the game.

And while you can still grind and get dragonflowers without the pass, summoning has always been based on rng

There's always been an RNG component, but if you have enough orbs the RNG is barely relevant. Enough pulls and you will eventually get what you wanted, and if you can buy pulls you can buy your way out of RNG. Which again, has always benefited people willing to spend money on the game as is the typical Gacha model.

Like I said before, there have always been ways to buy your way out of RNG. This is just much cheaper and significantly more consistent. You can literally buy sparks on a seasonal and a Legendary banner for less than the cost of a single pull's worth the orbs. It's $13 to buy 20 orbs. It's $10 to buy essentially two really good units, assuming you have the orbs saved up.

Frankly, that's just how this kind of thing works.

I hate to say it, but IS is only interested in you so long as you are paying them for their game or you could potentially be converted into paying them for their game or you make the game more fun for the people who are paying for it. A certain amount of F2P players are necessary, but never expect them to do more than the bare minimum or slightly more than the bare minimum to keep you.

I dunno if you've heard this one before, but "If you aren't paying for the product, then you aren't the customer, you are the product." Google is free because they sell your information to advertisers. The advertisers are Google's customers, you are Google's product. FEH is free because you aren't their customer, you're what they sell to whales as entertainment. Or they use your existence to sell their product to investors. Don't make the mistake of believing they care about you beyond what you can do for the people who actually pay them to keep the lights on, because they will choose money over you every single time.

GORDON-

- The Second Human Turned People Case, though he thinks he’s the first

- Cubone

- Moves: Headbutt, Bonemerange, Fire Punch, Endure

- Ability: Battle Armor

- Apart of Team Sunrise, Partnered with Tommy

- Has no memory other than his name and the fact that he used to be human

- Was first found by Tommy, unconscious on the Beach

- Intially creates an Exploration Team with Tommy to both make Tommy happy since it’s his dream and to search for clues as to why he’s suddenly a Pokémon and how to change back

- However, Gordon ends up liking being in an Exploration Team since a part of the job is about helping others. Gordon’s natural protective nature means he fits the job like a glove

- Trying to find a reason to why he’s not Human anymore but Gordon’s starting to wonder... Does he even want to go back? He likes being in an Exploration Team with Tommy- is there anything for him if he returns to the Human World?

- Was previously in an Explorer Team called Team Belladonna with his Ex, however they broke up and he stopped exploring a couple months before he met Bubby

- Found Bubby unconscious on a Mountain and his Explorer instincts kicked in, quickly helping him and having Bubby stay with him while he recovered

- Originally Bubby was only meant to stay until he recovered his memory but it ended up becoming a more permanent arrangement later

- Formed an Exploration Team both to help Bubby search for answers and because Coomer missed it as it was a big part of his life

- Has been Partnered with Bubby for years now. Would do anything to keep his secret safe

BUBBY-

- Initially became an Explorer with Coomer because of his determination to figure out why he’s a Pokémon but stayed because he genuinely enjoyed the work

- Despite his initial drive to figure out how to become Human again, Bubby no longer pursues this. He likes his life with Coomer, he doesn’t want it to change

- Likes to talk to one of his regulars at New Leaf, a Bounty Hunter who has plenty of interesting stories and is overall fun to talk to

- Recently got employed by someone who gives him a weird vibe. Darnold doesn’t know what it is but all they want is for him to make a machine that can open portals and... Well, it sounds interesting and harmless enough?

FORZEN-

- A Bounty Hunter who’s very good at his job

- Is a Bounty Hunter, meaning he specifically goes after Wanted Pokemon for a living

- Very good at his job, one of the best trackers out there and very rarely doesn’t complete the job he takes

- Used to be aquatinted with Benrey though wouldn’t recognize his Totodile form

- Truthfully has no idea what happened to Benrey but one day, he disappeared and a huge bounty was placed on his head. Forzen took the job, no hard feelings but it was a lot of money, but was never able to find him, one of his few jobs

Gotham Queen: Hazama

So, a while ago, I saw this post where someone, either @assclass-dump or @bea2804 (I don’t remember which one was it, and I am not about to roam through the Hazama tag just to find that one post, so I’ll tag both just in case) point out how Hazama has a unique cape in Koro Q. 

The moment I saw that cape, I instantly thought of one thing: Batman.

That lead to an idea of a Hero!Hazama AU where she was part of the bat-fam, and all because of that one cape.

Anyway, I’ve been trying to think of some Hazama content, and today, I had an idea for a drabble based on that one idea.

If she were to be completely honest, seeing the legendary bat-cave was....disappointing.

It was exactly as she'd imagined it: big cave full of fancy equipment, a giant computer, and oh, we shouldn't forget the shiny bat mobile.

Really, what do you expect from a billionaire vigilante?

"Answer the question."

Red orbs met the narrowed white slits of none other than the caped crusader himself. Hazama wondered if this was the notorious "bat glare" that was rumored to send shivers down one's spine. If that were the case, then it was another disappointment. 'He should see my mom when she's in one of her moods.'

Maybe it was just her. After all, nothing came close to the haunting eyes of her own mother as well as the soul-shattering screams that had become the title track of her miserable childhood. In fact, everything else paled in comparison to the devil woman that was her mother.

Hazama shrugged. "I tracked you down, that's it.”

The glare deepened, not that it had any effect on her. 'Maybe I should show him that picture of mom, tell him to take notes.'

"How exactly?" Batman questioned.

"I had help."

"Who?"

'An AI who roams the internet. Oh, and she's been living your big, bat-computer, so that's how I know who you and your sidekicks really are.'

Of course, she wasn't going to tell him that, mainly to get under his skin, but there was a reason as to why she was here in the first place.

"It doesn't matter right now." Hazama spoke, straightening in her seat and regarding the hero with a serious look. "I'm here to help with the tentacled monsters that're suddenly popping up."

The Dark Knight did not seem pleased by that answer. In fact, he was growing irritated with this mysterious girl who had casually strolled in that bat cave like it was no big deal.

"Kirara Hazama." Nightwing stood next to Batman, a tablet in hand. "Sixteen years old. Japanese nationale. Transfer student at Gotham Academy." He looked up to meet the girl's eyes. "Not to mention, you were one of the students involved in that whole assassination ordeal from last year."

Hazama clutched her elbow. A year had passed since Korosensei's passing, but it was still felt so recent, as though that fateful night was only hours ago. Her heart clenched when she remembered the the tiny, yellow orbs floating around them, the feeling of Korosensei literally slipping through her fingers was unforgettable.

And now, her past had followed her all the way to another country; Hazama didn’t know if this was life trying to be funny, but if it were truly the case, then it was an utter, humorless fail. 

Really, all she wanted was to be as far away as possible from her controlling mother, and the opportunity comes in the form of a transfer exchange program. But then one day, she gets attacked by a creature bearing an eerie resemblance to her late teacher. It had everything: the tentacles, the yellow skin, and even that trademark grin of his.

“Koro...sensei?”

Except that grin had been laced with malice, and before the girl could comprehend what was happening, she found a tentacle wrapped around her neck and dangling her in the air to suffocate. 

“Sensei!”   

Were it not for her assassination training, Hazama would not have managed to escape. Those had arguably been the most horrifying seconds of her life, more horrifying than the Okinawa ordeal, where Hazama truly believed herself nearing death’s door. 

“It’s not him.” She breathed, her hand seemingly glued to her neck. “Korosenei would never...”  

And she was right, especially after more and more of these psuedo-senseis appeared on the streets of Gathom city, wrecking havoc in a manner akin to mindless zombies. Hazama didn’t know their origins, but she was deadset on unraveling this mystery. ‘And...’ She bit her bottom lip.

And maybe...by some strange, unforeseeable miracle, he would be be alive.    

Batman scrutinized the girl, her melancholy was not lost on him. The sadness glinting in her eyes was uncomfortably familiar, one that told the story of loss. He may not of read it, but he felt like he already knew the tale.

But that wasn’t the issue at hand. He will eventually learn how this girl managed to track him down, not to mention, do a thorough background check.

But for now, his priorities lied in handling the “Octopus terror” that had plagued Gotham. If this Kirara Hazama person had a solution to this, he was willing to listen, though her words will be taken with a grain of salt. After all, Batman did not trust her, not when she had somehow figured out their secret identities.

“Kirara, was it?”

“Hazama.” She corrected. “I don’t like my first name all that much, so just call me, Hazama.”

The man was silent for a few moments before responding “Very well then, Hazama.” He crossed his arms. “What do you know about these creatures?”

“Not much.” She admitted. “But they’re undoubtedly linked to my teacher.”

“Your teacher?”

“The one we were tasked with killing.” She explained, ignoring the slight ache in her heart. “I know how his past; maybe that could help us get to the bottom of this.”

“Uh...us?” Nightwing spoke up. “Kid, we’re talking dangerous stuff here.”

Hazama raised an eyebrow. “And?”

“What do you mean “And”?” The acrobat questioned irritably.

“Just because you have information on these creatures doesn’t mean you can come with us.” Batman said, regarding her with his notorious bat-glare once more. 

Hazama glared back at him. “You’re going to need me.” She said firmly.

 “I won’t.”

“You will.” She argued. “For a whole year, my class and I were trained on how to kill that octopus.” 

The bat glare intensified. “We don’t kill.”

“Neither do we.” She walked closer to bat until the distance between them was a few centimetres. “At least not when it comes to human life.”

She then pulled out her anti-sensei knife for the two men to see. “This is what I used when I was attacked by one of the monsters. To humans, it’s just a rubber knife.” 

She bent it slightly to prove her point. “But it’s a deadly weapon to those monsters.”

The two heroes still didn’t look convinced.

“We spent a whole year studying that octopus, jolting down all his weaknesses.” She met Batman’s gaze with a determined look. “Like it or not, you’re going to need us.”

Batman narrowed his eyes. “Us?”

“Correct!”

The two men whipped their heads to the bat computer, their eyes widening at the sight of a purple-haired girl displayed on screen.

Ritsu smiled brightly at the two and waved. “Hello!”

The Dark Knight was the first to recover from his shock. He turned back to Hazama, bat-glare ever present.

“I take it this is who helped you, correct?”

The Goth gave him a smug smile. “Yup; and she’ll be a big help in this mission.”

“You bet!” There was a glitch on screen and suddenly, Ritsu was dressed in a female version of Batman’s costume.

Batman was absolutely not amused by this.

“Alright.” He turned back to Hazama. “But once this is over, you both will be answering some question. Is that clear?”

The girl shrugged. “Sounds fair.” She smirked. “But if you’re gonna interrogate me again, you’re gonna need to do better than glaring. Here, take notes.”

She then held up picture and gave it to Batman. Curious, Nightwing leaned closer, then jerked back a second later. 

“Yikes!” He yelled in fright. “What is that?!”

“My mom.” The girl replied casually. “I use this to scare off cat-callers. It’s the one thing my mom’s good for.”

Batman regarded her with a neutral look. “Not the best relationship, I suppose?”

“Nope.” She stretched her arms and walked away.

“Where do you think you’re going?” The Bat asked, narrowing his eyes.

“I’m starving.” She replied without even looking back. “Your butler said he’ll be making dinner, right? We can’t save Gotham on empty stomachs.” 

Nightwing chuckled slightly. “First Tim, now this Hazama kid.” He turned to his former mentor with a playful smirk. “It’s pretty hilarious how a bunch of kids can easily deduce your secret identity, huh?” 

Batman’s only response was a glare, followed by him holding up the photo to show Nightwing the devil herself.

Question: Has anyone in this fandom ever thought of an AC/DC crossover where Hazama was apart of the bat-fam before?

Because I’m starting to like the idea, especially when I imagine her endlessly trolling the Dark Knight.

I saw that you probably aren’t doing fanfiction right now because of shutdown, but, if you are, I kind of have an idea, it’s sort of sad and based off of Shrek Forever After, but with a bit of Black Knight. After having an argument with Tails, he finds himself accidentally saying that he doesn’t need him and that he was better off without before them, after that, Sonic ends up in a world where his own friends don’t recognize him and he has to gain back their friendship.

It wasn’t long before Tails flew over, dodging the smoke from the destroyed robots all piled like debris from the previous battle.

Sonic had launched quite a fearsome and fierce spindash that did a massive ping-pong effect throughout all of Eggman’s lone army.

They were sure the army was headed towards the city, and Sonic bolted ahead of his team to take of things while they worried and fretted over the defenses and other ‘boring’ lectures of planning that Sonic didn’t want to stick around for.

He dusted himself off as Tails landed by his side, his eyes showing the concern and annoyance in them.

“Soooniicc! You said we’d work together!” Tails protested, but Sonic just rolled his eyes, seeing the young fox boy bundled his fists together by his face and show his obvious disapproval of Sonic’s more... fast method... of stopping Eggman.

“What is everyone so upset about? I beat the army, and barely dropped a sweat!” he mimed gliding his finger down his arm and then flicking the imaginary ‘sweat’ into Tails’s face who flinched at and wrinkled his nose at the gesture.

“That’s not the point... you always rush off without us. We’re a team!” he hopped a little forward, trying to grab Sonic’s attention at the truth to his words, but Sonic just waved it off and kicked a sparking robot’s hand, who was reaching from the pile up towards the sky, twitching before Sonic knocked it out and it ripped from the pile and started sparking off in rolling dark humor...

Sonic smirked as Tails looked horrified at the image and then shook his head, “You’re too stubborn...”

Sonic’s head whipped up, looking strangely offended at that as he turned to Tails and stomped towards him, making the poor boy walk backwards and shocked to see his friend so aggressive all of a sudden.

“Stubborn? Stubborn!? I used to take down hundreds upon thousands of robots long before you all tagged along! And what now, huh!? You’re all the stubborn ones! I could have cleared through these zones to Eggman’s base, took down his stock of mechanical tyranny, ripped up his notebook schemes, and been back before you guys called out ‘Break!’.” he flung his arms about, and the strange behavior made Tails cower back slightly, on the verge of tears. However, Sonic was so lost in his frustration at feeling held back by his friends, that he kept going without even realizing the damage he was causing to his friendship... “Without you guys, I’d be saving countless lives, planets, and the sort without having to worry about saying, ‘What’s the plan, Tails’!?”

When he finally came to and looked to Tails, his wildly flinging hands slowly came down and so did the flame of his aggravation.

“Tails...” His eyes softened, seeing how frightened and hurt Tails appeared.

He had withdraw down and against the pile of scrap metal, his bottom lip quivering, and one hand held up over his face.

He rubbed the rolled up part of his glove over his now wetted nose as he held in his tears, getting up from leaning against the pile and bringing his tails up to his hands as though to hold them like a child would his security blanket. “We don’t mean to slow you down, Sonic... we just want to help... and we want to be apart of your adventures too.” He sniffled and took off, holding his hands over his eyes as to not let Sonic see how much his words affected him.

Sonic immediately regretted what he said, holding out his hand to him, “Wait... buddy...” his hand slowly came down and he turned around angry again, kicking more robots and spin-slashing into some on the ground, “Augh! What’s wrong with me!? I would never say that!” he slammed his foot against a particularly hard object, and jumped back in the pain. “Yee-ouch! Ow, ow, ow!” he held his foot in a comical, pogo-stick way before looking down at the strange, darkly colored orb object he had hit...

His eyes narrowed on it in curiosity, and then looked around. Tails was already flying back and crying to the others, no doubt being comforted after telling them all Sonic had said.

His face dropped again, as though not wanting to deal with that and feeling guilty over his outburst.

He was always a hothead, but tried to hide that as best he could from his friends. He was going crazy just sitting around talking all the time, and his jittery, antsy feet made him quick to the fuse...

Luckily, his love for his friends was more powerful than that... most of the time.

He sighed and dug through the rubble, deciding it best to go this journey alone, and pick up the strange, orbish ball.

“What do we have here?” it was about an inch smaller than Sonic’s head, but still rather large in his grasp. He moved it around, looking at it’s curves and seeing that it had rings of different colors around it’s glistening shades of black, purple, green, and pink. “A new Eggman toy? Ohhh~ Shiny!” he tried to cheer himself up, but looked back over his shoulder to see Amy and Knuckles, not looking happy, waddling through the debris of Eggman robots.

He pouted, “Uh oh... IIIIIII~ Really don’t want to deal with this.” he looked around for an escape route, and found one as he ducked his head and hid among the tin carcasses of Eggman’s army.

Burrowing as was his specialty of being a hedgehog, he heard Amy and Knuckles calling out in their search for him, and stuck his head out from a gap of two overlapping robots.

He peeked back and smiled, then brought out the orb before a sparking robot’s upper-half snapped some of its wires loose and it’s arm draped over him.

“Ah! Bad touch, bad touch!” he pushed through the gap as best he could and tried to kick the arm off of him... but what he didn’t see... was that the sparks smacked against the orb... and made it glow.

“Soooniicc!” Knuckles’s and Amy’s voices rang over his desperate attempts to get the sparking dead robot off of his stuck leg, and panicked when he saw Amy look over and point towards him. “There he is!”

“Wha? Grr..!!! Sooonic!” Knuckles’s immediate glare, followed by him hunching down and stomping over to his location made him freak out even more.

“Eee..!” His mouth stretched back to reveal he was getting caught, but finally put the orb over his head and cried out, “Being me would be so much easier if I wasn’t stuck with you!” he was talking about the robot, but the orb burst like a bomb into a swirl of techno-colors.

Sonic felt himself falling slowly through the gleaming black as his hands whipped out to try and ‘swim’ or pull himself upward.

“W-what’s..? What’s going on!?”

It replayed some of Sonic’s words around him, showing him through another set of eyes... blurry with tears.

“Tails...” his expression changed, his hands stopped fighting the pull downwards... almost like Alice falling through the rabbit hole.

“I don’t need you telling me what to do!” Sonic’s voice shouted through the muffled orb.

“I... I didn’t mean it like that, Amy...” He felt himself sinking a little faster, hearing his words from days passed.

“Stop saying I care so much! I only care if I’m having fun doing it!” another image of him looking snarky and confident.

“Man... Do I really sound that annoyingly arrogant?” Sonic’s head kept swishing back and forth at all the images and the words began to echo in a cacophony of incoherent statements as Sonic tried to plug his ears and his feet kicked the air. “No... Nooo... Nooo!!!” he cried out as he fell faster and faster into the dark.

“Hey, hey mister, are you alright?”

Sonic blinked his eyes, mumbling as though coming too from a nightmare.

Tails was looking over him, watching him stir.

“Uhhh...” He leaned up, having a hand on his face, “Sorry about earlier, buddy... I really let you have it, huh?” after thinking he was electrocuted and possibly passed out, he shook his head and started getting up, apologizing. “You know I couldn’t do half the amazing things I do without a little bit of your own style thrown in there, right?” he gave him a thumbs up, but weakly so, still coming too and hunched over from the trauma. “H-hey? Where’s Eggman’s robots?”

“Huh?” Tails leaned back up, “Buddy? Look, mister... You’re Sonic The Hedgehog. You don’t have any ‘buddies’.” he put his hands to his hips, “Anyway, you beat down Eggman again, so I guess this means your out of here and on to the next thing. I won’t bother you too much, just wanted to make sure you were okay, but it looks like you were napping.” He turned behind him, waving to a crowd that had formed around the city. “Heeey! He’s okay!” Tails waved to them, calling out.

They all looked relieved and cheered, before dispersing rather quickly back into the city.

“H-huh?” Sonic looked confused, but Tails just turned around and nodded to him.

“Okay, I know how you roll, so I’ll take off now and simply say, Take care!” he took off without another word, waving slightly to him as though he was a stranger...

“W-wait, Tails! I said I was sorry, don’t pull this on me! Come on, bud!” Sonic reached out to him, racing after him as Tails looked weirded out by him following him.

He looked under him and made a face, “Umm...”

“We can sort this out! We’ve gotten through way worse than a little outburst.” Sonic shrugged, but Tails still seemed weary of him.

“L-look, you may have hit your head pretty hard against those robots, but I don’t know you. No one really does, but we all know you’re Sonic! Legendary and lone hero! You sure do clean up those baddies real fast though, see you at a distance!” he waved him off again and took off even faster.

Seeing how desperately Tails wanted to get away from him, Sonic slowed down and looked extremely broken, as though not able to quite function under this odd predicument.

“What’s... going on?” he looked at his hand, “Tails wouldn’t play around like this... he loves spending time with me.” He flexed out his hand, the one that had blown up with the supposed ‘explosion’ but saw no sign of blast... not even ash on his pristine white glove.

“...Amy.” He looked around and saw her heading back with the crowd, “Amy!” he dashed towards her, “What’s going on with Tails? Is he really that mad at me?”

“H-huh?” She looked taken-aback that he was there, and immediately started flipping out in silence, fangirling and putting her hands up to her face as though she had just ran into a celebrity. She pulled out her phone and posed, “Could you sign this?” the photo came out of the phone and she clicked a button for a pen to also drop like a plug from inside it.

“W-what?” He sweatdropped, pulling away from her slowly and looking her in the eyes, searching for an answer. “Amy... it’s me... Come on, not you too!” he flopped his arms out towards her, “Amy! Stop it! This is going too far!”

She withdrew her phone-pen and photo. “O-oh, right, sorry! I know you like to be the lone, mysterious Sonic The Hedgehog who doesn’t need any help! I’ll go now! But... I love you!” she waved and ran by him, hurrying away as other girls stopped her and offered money for the photo but she guarded it by summoning her hammer, making--or rather--forcing her way through the crowd that came at her.

“It’s mine! All mine! Get your own!” 

Others started taking photos of Sonic as a response.

The flashes overwhelmed him, making his mind spin as he turned around to try and find more familiar faces... but they were all strangers... every... one of... them...

“No.” he gripped his head, “No, no... Knuckles... Knuckles!!” he sped so fast through the people that some girls had to hold their dresses or long skirts down from his wind blast.

Upon reaching Angel Island, Sonic panted and gripped his chest, “Knuckles, it’s awful!” he held up the Chaos Emerald he had before the blast... teleporting once safely away from the city...

“HEEEY!” Knuckles woke up from his nap, then seeing the emerald, rubbed his eyes in disbelief and angrily looked to his pedestal. Sure enough, one Chaos Emerald was missing...

In absolute hostile rage, he lowered his head, gritting his teeth.

He slowly turned his flaming eyes towards Sonic, getting up and twitching his fists into pounding against the ground, as though a racer, like a bull, readying to charge off into the fray...

“Everyone’s acting like I’m some kind of lone ranger, it’s creeping me ou-FFPH!” he was slammed into by Knuckles’s head ramming into his stomach.

Getting taken off-guard, Sonic rolled back and jammed his back into a tree, spiking it with his two angled spikes at the force. He was briefly knocked out, but coming back, he rose his head and shook it, blinking his eyes and then struggling to get out from the tree. It was clear he looked like a turtle stuck on his shell, trying to get up and kick his feet out to do so, but his back quills were too deeply embedded in the tree.

‘Geez,’ he worriedly thought to himself, ‘Knuckles, even at his worst, wouldn’t hit that hard knowing it was me.’ He looked back as Knuckles slammed another fist into the side of the tree, barely missing Sonic as he held the Chaos Emerald in up in his other hand.

“Now you listen here, blue punk.” He spat out as his head got dangerously close to Sonic’s, “I already have to deal with that no-good bat girl and that deranged, psychotic Eggface! I don’t need another so-called ‘hero’ thinking he can just walk up to MY ISLAND and take what he sees fit!” he cracked his two-spikes on his glove out from the tree’s now tilted bark. “Hmph, now get off my island! I don’t like your kind around here... Always parading your victories, running off after the praise and never caring about anyone else but yourself! Your kind make me sick!”

He walked briskly back to his shrine, but freaked out when the Master Emerald was gone, “AH! MY EMERALD!” he dropped the Chaos Emerald and gripped his head, then panicked and picked it back up, turning to Sonic. “WHAT DID YOU DO WITH MY PRECIOUS EMERALD?”

Throughout the day, Sonic had to regain their trust, and even convince Eggman that he knew Sonic...

Eggman knew him as his life-long, hated adversary but...

“I hardly actually know you. You hate water? Does that... like... count?” He shrugged from his eggmobile. “Wait, wait! Are you..? Are you saying you at last wish to join forces and be friends!?” He pulled out a party blower and horn, releasing fireworks but Sonic shook his head.

“I...” He looked to Tails, Knuckles, and Amy... who he had kinda dragged along this wild ride...

They looked at him like he was strange and this was all odd, and it hurt his heart to see it.

He fell to his knees, “I... I don’t know how I got any of you as friends... and I know I don’t say it enough but... I’m so grateful I have you.” He hit the ground.

Eggman looked a little confused too, shifting his eyes, “Umm... What?”

He didn’t understand the jibber-jabber so he just took a canon to fire at him from below his Eggmobile.

Sonic didn’t even bother to dodge... but as the black canon fired... the black, purple, green, and pink lights within it made it look strangely familiar...

Amy summoned her hammer and hit the canon up into the air, “You leave Sonic alone!” she stated, as he looked up to her, already to weak in his emotions to do anything else.

“Grr... he may be a bratt, but he’s a lonely bratt, regardless!” Knuckles punched his fists together, standing up beside Amy and getting ready for a brawl. “So butt out of his business! Nah, do me one better, butt out of everyone’s business! Especially my own!” he must have been referring to the world and his own Master Emerald crisis...

“And I-!” Tails stood forward, but looking to Sonic, it almost seemed like he didn’t know what to say.

Sonic looked away, not expecting this Tails to say anything.

“...I think he needs us.” Tails nodded with a soft, sad smile, then turned back to Eggman with all the force a young child would have in wanting to defeat evil and tyranny. “You’re a bully! I’ll show you what Sonic inspires! In all of us!”

The three were about to fight, but the ‘canon-ball’ came flying down and bonked Sonic on the head.

When he came too, he was surrounded by Tails, Knuckles, and Amy... all were leaning over him, trying to wake him up.

“Sonic! Sonic, wake up!”

“H-huh?” He opened his eyes, not sure what was going on again, but saw the heap of robots and then looked to see his friends, grabbing their shoulders.

“You know me!?”

They all seemed worried, “Well, of course we know you!” Amy laughed, “Silly! We were worried when we saw the blast! Tails said you two had a fight...”

“Well, he fought.” Tails looked away, a little sheepishly.

“Nevermind that, tell me, you punk!” Knuckles gripped Sonic up and held him up to his face, “What gives you the right to shout in people’s faces, huh!? Show a little more respect for those who actually care about your safety and success, alriiighhttt!?!!?” Sonic wasn’t even phased by Knuckles’s scolding, he was too wrapped up in the joy of figuring out these guys were his actual friends.

“I LOVE YOU GUYS!” Sonic threw his hands up and Knuckles set him down gently, creeped out by his bold and... strangely out-of-character declaration.

“Uhhh....” Knuckles moved away from him, letting him slightly go but keeping his fists on him for good measure. “That blast hit your head too hard or somethin’?”

“Oh my!” Amy quickly jumped up and put her hand to his forehead, “Sonic! That nasty blast really did knock you out pretty badly, didn’t it?”

“Amy!” He gripped her and Knuckles into a hug, “You’re all the best!” he laughed, and they all looked a little odd being under his arms like this...

“Tails..!” He looked to Tails, then quieted down and approached him in a calm manner. Tails was still acting shy...

“I’m so sorry, Tails.” His eyelids dropped and he came very humbly over to him. “You were my first real friend, and I didn’t understand how much your friendship changed my life... you put up with me a lot, heh... and for that, I’ll forever be grateful to you, buddy. Honestly... I know I don’t speak my heart very much but...” He raised a hand slowly to him, before letting it flop on the little fox’s head, who giggled at the ruffling it gave his fur. “You’re the bestest friend a guy could ever ask for... I wouldn’t be the hero I am today without you.”

Tails held his hand on his head and looked cutely up to him.

He jumped into him and they hugged, as Amy and Knuckles also looked thrilled that the two made-up, and Amy placed her hands together and by the side of her cheek, leaning towards it.

“Aww, brotherly love!” She cheered, admiringly, but Knuckles just rolled his eyes as if justifying this weird behavior of Sonic’s wasn’t the right way to act about it.

“Alright, so he hit his head and now he’s soft... is that really a good thing?”

“W-we should probably get your head looked at, Sonic.” Tails pulled away slightly as Sonic went to rub his head in embarrassment, but flinched from the pain and the others immediately flocked him to check out further injuries.

“Don’t move! And I know that sounds like a death sentence, but just remain still!” Knuckles argued.

“I’ve got bandages!” Amy quickly began to wrap his head as Tails helped him to sit and pulled out some water.

“Here, you must feel really awful after that short-fuse... Maybe even lightheaded too, just relax for a second, okay? We’ll have you better in no time!”

Amazed by the kindness he never really saw beforehand, he rubbed his wetted nose and glossy eyes against his glove as Tails once did, and allowed his friends to take care of him...

His... true friends.

He would never wish to part from them again.

And from here on out, he never seemed to have an issue holding in his temper either!

psmd rewritten expedition society character things

ampharos:

used to have a kid who liked to explore mystery dungeons. key word being used to

his kid isnt DEAD you guys its a pokemon game. that mf’er is lost and he cant find them

this is derived from when in chapter 12 or so partner and hero are being talked about by mawile and ampharos, and mawile says to keep a close eye on them and ampharos says something to the likes of ‘dont worry i wont let it happen again’ or whatever

was actually VERY resistant to hero and partner joining the society, unlike in the game. only when hero and partner save him from the poliwrath brothers does he reconsider this. 

his clumsiness and ease of getting lost basically translates to him taking forever on dungeons. he’s a character who just does ‘whatever he wants’ in terms of ai on floors. the rest of the society tries not to resent him for wandering off so often, but it sometimes leads to tension in particularly challenging dungeons.

mawile:

has lived / second or first hand experienced all previous pmd games. she knows exactly what happened from rescue team to gti and she does not want to see it happen again. because of her trauma, she’s a bit more shut off and calculated about things. she usually uses tough love to communicate that she really, REALLY cares about people and doesnt want them to get hurt.

mawile is an ex-dungeon mon. she was born and raised in a dungeon and was recruited into a rescue team and lived in a friend area up until the rescue team disbanded and she decided she want to go her own.

her love for archeology is inspired a lot by the fact that she just generally wants to know more about the world around her. she thinks the better she can understand natural disasters of the past, the better she can help handle the ones in the future or the present.

buizel:

ex-pirate turned guild member. quagsire (from gti) fixed him up REAL good after he was done with him. he still retains a cartoonish accent, and also likes to talk about the ‘good ol days’ out on the sea with his pals.

buizel doesn’t actually like the kids. like at ALL. he thinks they’re a chore and he’s CONSTANTLY on their case for even like, EXISTING in the society. the few times he’s not complaining about these kids is when he’s flat out ignoring them

this is resolved when they beat up entei for him. only somewhat though, then his respect is gotten but he’s still a bit rough and grumpy around the edges

bunnelby:

the most boring of the group. grew up in a underground society (like, actually underground not unknown) at a normal house with normal parents. he decided to be a geologist because like, what else are you gonna be, y’know?

probably the least chaotic and well adjusted person in the entire society, but that’s mostly because he was really sheltered. his mental health is okay.. for now

has been working off the grid for most of her life, but now that she’s with the society her research on cross-world communication has EXPLODED. she is the creator of the pokemon nexus, the communication orb, and a lot of the gadgets! if something needs fixing, you either come to her or you go and find jirachi

she and jirachi get into a LOT of fights over who’s smarter of the two of them. she asserts that her engineering is pushing the boundary of modern technology, while he says that he could run circles around her in his sleep.

it’s a healthy rivalry, and it keeps the both of them preoccupied and constantly trying to one-up eachother. which means lots of progress on new inventions

jirachi:

jirachi, after being wished on by bidoof, had the idea of coming out more into public. he was moved by bidoof’s heart, and after sleeping on it, decided to move in with the society so he could do more than just grant wishes and sleep. 

he has a strong connection with stars, and ever since he moved in with the society, he’s been more well in contact with legendary and mythical pokemon than ever before. he doesnt like to talk about his relationship with other legendaries very much, mostly because he’s an introvert. he just doesn’t have a lot to say

he cannot use wishes on himself. no matter how much he tries. someone else has to wish on him, and even then, it’s monkey’s paw.

his genius seems to be ‘natural’. he thinks this is because he is a mythical pokemon and has lived for dozens of years. though, he can’t remember most of his life because he was asleep for a lot of it.
