There's been something about the woobification of Buck that's been sitting on the tip of my tongue for weeks now, and I think I've finally figured it out.
This is, of course, mostly in reference to the moral outrage about a decade-ish (give or take) age gap between two adult men and the infantalization of one said grown man, so all the puritanism isn't really coming from a place of good faith anyway, but here's the thing that's been bugging me that I couldn't quite put a finger on until now.
Buck has people he goes to for certain things. He has, what are in his mind, experts in the field for most of the things he can't think through on his own, that he goes to for a sounding board.
He went to Hen to talk through the sperm donor dilemma for a few reasons that made sense to him. 1) She's a mom. She has very much had to deal with the reality of 'giving up' children she considered her own. Buck is aware that he would be giving up something that could mean something to him, and he wants to talk to someone who has some insight into that. 2) She's dealt with IVF. She knows the risks, she knows the trials and tribulations, she knows about this thing that he is thinking about agreeing to be a part of so she's going to have a fuller grasp on the enormity of everything this process entails.
And they drink about it. Hen gives him what she can and cautions him where she thinks she should and they continue to talk about it and regardless of what SHE thinks, he makes his mind up in part because he got to talk to his Expert.
Bobby is often his go to when he feels like he's losing his grip on things. He's seen Bobby staring down the bottom of the bottle. He's seen the work he's done to pull himself back into the world, and he's seen the way he fights for his family, his people. Buck leans on him in times of questioning himself because he knows Bobby has pulled himself off the ledge with bleeding hands and a bleeding heart.
He reaches out to Maddie about interpersonal shit constantly. We see it all the way back in S2 when he's starting to question what the hell he's still doing in Abby's apartment, and that never really changes. She's the one with advice for him when he's angry with his parents, upset with the firefam, worried about his friends, or just generally concerned with the way he's perceived by people or how he perceives the world. He goes to her when he's embarrassed, ashamed, because he knows she won't judge him for it. She'll call him out, for sure, but she's not going to look at him differently when she knows he's done something he considers bad behavior.
When he goes to her during the Tommy arc, he's there for one reason he'll admit, and another she has to ferret out. 1) He lied to his best friend and he doesn't know why. 2) Oh yeah he went on a date with a dude that's not strange WHY IS THAT STRANGE I'VE ALWAYS BEEN AN ALLY PLEASE DON'T PULL BACK THE CURTAIN - and Maddie is there with two things: 1) It's not weird but it IS new and something you clearly haven't worked through all the way which is why 2) you'll tell Eddie when you're ready
And Eddie is sort of his go-to to bounce ideas off of. Eddie is his Buck expert. Eddie is the guy who can sort through all the bullshit and who sees Buck for exactly who he is, every time, regardless of what Buck himself is thinking. Eddie is his best friend, and he knows the good the bad and the ugly better than anyone else. He is also, quite frankly, the one Buck seeks out to help him contextualize all of his romantic feelings for people. Eddie's the guy he talks to when he's interested in someone, when he's falling for someone, he's the guy through which Buck filters his love interests into the firefam. I do the same shit with my best friend. It's instinct to want the person you consider the expert on you to meet the person you are interested in, it's instinct to want them to like each other, to get along. Buck knows Eddie loves him (in whatever way you see that love, Buck knows Eddie loves him) and he wants this person who loves him to be at least an active listener as he talks himself through the minefield of relationships. I do also think that up until the events of season seven, Buck considers Eddie sort of an expert on that traditional love-marriage-kids-white-picket-fence relationship Buck thinks he's striving for - in a very naive way, because obviously the wasn't what Eddie and Shannon had and Buck knows that, but he's probably fed some of Eddie's rose colored reminiscences back into that notion.
When he comes out to Eddie he's got two worries. 1) I lied to you and I figured out why but I'm still a little worried you think it's weird and 2) I screwed it up with someone I really like and I don't know where to go from here.
And Eddie (Buck expert) reassures him that just because it's new and unexpected doesn't make it strange, that it doesn't change anything in their friendship. And then he gets right to the heart of it - if you like him you should reach out and tell him that. He doesn't know you like we do but if you give him the chance to, he'll love you as much as we do. If he doesn't give it the same shot you want to he's the idiot.
With all that context in mind, Buck isn't seeking out Tommy's attention because he wants an authority figure, or someone to take care of him, someone to guide him through sex or love or relationship dynamics or any of the other random shit I've seen ppl infantalizing Buck about.
What he's looking for, and what he ultimately tells Tommy he'd like to pursue, is a partnership. Someone to walk (or more likely for Buck, speedrun) through experiences together. The Athena to his Bobby, the Chim to his Maddie, the Karen to his Hen.
So every time I see someone infantalizing Buck for seeking out a relationship with an older man for X or Y reason, I'm just like - no. He has Bobby, Hen, Maddie, Eddie, Chim etc for that. He doesn't want or need Tommy for that. He is a grown ass man who has built these strong relationships with his peers and his mentors and he is so fucking aware of that because he reaches for their help any time he feels the urge for a helping hand.
So yeah, Tommy's older. Yes, Tommy has more experience with his sexuality than Buck. And that - that's really it. Buck's been in the same career for more than half a decade. He's lived on his own since he was no older than 19/20. He's had serious relationships, he has a rich and fulfilling life. There is no power imbalance in the relationship between Buck and Tommy.
And while the age gap may be a bit of a draw for Buck, it's not WHY he's attracted to Tommy. We know because he's told Maddie. He's cool. He's interesting. He's confident. He has a cleft.
Buck isn't going into this waiting for someone older and more experienced to take the fucking reins. He felt like he clicked with Tommy, like there was an immediate connection, and yes, Tommy had to kiss him about it for Buck to actually figure out what it was he was experiencing, but from that point on it was all on Buck (and the people he leans on for advice) to help him sort through.
Tommy didn't do shit other than pump the brakes and try to give Buck the space he thought he needed to decide what he was ready for. Buck (again, with the help of his experts - Maddie for the emotional piece of it, Eddie for the Buck of it all) did the work on his own. Tommy didn't swoop in and overbearingly hold his hand through a sexual awakening. He kissed him, asked him out, realized he wasn't ready, stepped back and then checked in multiple times when Buck came back at it going 120 miles an hour.
And then he did everything he could to prove to Buck he wanted the same thing - a partner, someone to talk to, and lean on, and flirt with and rely on to show up whenever they could feasibly manage it (and sometimes when it's a little unfeasible too).
The narrative even acknowledges that Buck had no reason to go to Bobby in this scenario, when he often would, and lays out exactly why.
Within the canon of this particular arc, we're meant to see this as Buck realizing he has the experience necessary to think these things through on his own. This is Buck finally taking control of something that's always felt like it fell into his lap a bit. This is Buck doing more than treading water until his legs give out.
And minimizing that growth bc you personally don't like the LI he's pursuing is gross at best. At worst it's something much more insidious.

SHADOW / EVAN BUCKLEY
Tumblr media
PAIRINGS: Evan Buckley x Girlfriend!Reader
SUMMARY: Evan would go to great lengths to make sure his girlfriend never leaves.
WARNINGS: Stalking, baby trapping, sexual depictions, obsessive behaviour, invasion of privacy, babying, isolation
WORDCOUNT: 3.3K Words
A/N: Uhm, let’s not talk about this…
Evan was in love.
For the first time in his life he was truly, head over heels for someone. Even he himself couldn’t believe it. His friends all noticed the change in demeanour. The excessive happiness that he seemed to radiate at all time. They couldn’t find it in themselves to be anything but happy for him.
He’d had his fair share of relationships, but of course they didn’t last. Whether it was off on travels, untrustworthiness or a bad connection. They didn’t last. But with you, he knew you were the one. From the way you looked up at him, the way you smiled when he held your hand. You never judged him, dealt with his family issues as well as his own recklessness.
You were perfect, in every way. And Buck knew it. It’s why when he found out you were think about breaking up with him that he found himself spiralling.
He’d been using your phone to text Bobby, to tell him he wasn’t coming in the next day. You’d both planned to have a beach day, since the both of you had been busy lately. After texting Bobby, a text from your friend has caught his eye.
Just break up with him!
Evan could feel his heart racing, what the hell?
So he pressed on the conversation and found his worst nightmare. You’d been talking to her about how you found yourself with less time alone, almost always being dragged out to a restaurant or some other place by Buck. You felt smothered, but didn’t have the heart to tell him. If you’d told him he was being clingy he would’ve tried to dial it back. But speaking about him behind his back? To your bitch of a friend?
It wasn’t right of you. And it wasn’t right of her to encourage these thoughts. She’d met Evan before, multiple times. She always talked about how perfect the two of you were for each other. And here she was, trying to get you to leave him, your soulmate.
So he texted her, on your behalf.
I’m not breaking up with him, don’t text me. I don’t want to see you anymore.
Then he blocked her number.
“Evan?” His head rose from the pillow, looking down at you as you walked into the apartment. “Yeah babe? Everything okay?” He heard you jogging up the stairs, “Maya blocked me, I think. I tried to talk to her on Insta and she told me to screw myself. I don’t know what I did wrong.” Bucks heart hurt at the sight of you crying.
“Oh baby, you didn’t do anything. You shouldn’t be thinking about a friend who can be so rude with no explanation. C’mere.” He held his arms out for you as you settled into his arms, tears dampening his shirt. “I’ve got you, you’re okay.” He cradled your head against his chest. “I— I just don’t know what I did.”
“Shh, don’t waste your energy on her. Okay?” Your head lifted, “Okay…” He could sense your uncertainty, you’d been friends with Maya for a while, almost a year. He knew it’d be hard for you to get over it, but it was for the best. Evan knew what was best for you.
Your boyfriend was acting strangely, to say the least.
He’d been much more involved with your friends now. Always asking after them, what you guys were doing, whether or not Maya came back in touch. It felt as if you couldn’t breathe in their presence without a million texts from him.
Evan ❤️
Where are you right now?
Who’s with you?
When are you coming home?
Home. He always assumed you were coming to his place. As if you were already living together when you’d only been together for five months. Even when you brought it up to him, he’d brush his actions off.
“I mean we’re practically living together already no? What’s the point in you having your things somewhere else when you can have it here. Saves you a trip in the morning baby.” Evan murmured into your neck as you stood in the bathroom. “I… I have my own place Evan. I like having my own place. It’s not just my things that are there. It’s my place.” His arms briefly tightened around you at the sound of your protest.
“I know, but don’t you want to live with me? Be with me?” Buck retracted his face from your neck, his arms circling around your neck as your hands held on to his arms. “I do! I do want to be with you. I am with you baby.” His frown disappeared in a second, replaced with an unsettling smile. “That’s what I thought.” He kissed your cheek before walking out the door.
You stared into the mirror. What the hell does that mean? That’s what I thought? You shook your head in an attempt to collect your thoughts. Did you want to be in this relationship? Where you felt like you were being babysat? As if Buck was your parent, always asking where you were and who with. As if you couldn’t handle yourself, needing supervision.
It took you another month to realise this isn’t what you wanted in a relationship. You wanted to be equals, to rely on eachother and trust each other. The ability to go out and not give your exact location every ten minutes. To not feel as if you have an overwhelming pressure behind you, always looming. Like a shadow.
But it was a month too long. You’d given Evan even more access into your life. He’d sweet talked you into sharing your live location with you. Even your bank account was accessible to him, being able to overlook your transactions. He had keys to your apartment and even his face ID on your phone (not that you knew he had access to your phone).
You’d confided in your best friend. And she’d encouraged you the whole time. She herself hadn’t noticed Evan’s overbearing behaviour, he always handled himself properly in public. Not a single person would suspect him of being so controlling. He was to sweet for that. And even if they noticed his clinginess, they viewed it as a sweet trait.
He loves you so much he can’t breathe without you. Half of his personality had become you. His wallpaper was a photo of the two of you, his password was now your birthday. His pantry and fridge were filled with your favourite foods, even when you weren’t staying over.
It was all you. Evan finally had someone to love, to spoil and to hold with all his might. He’d be damned if someone tried to take you from him. So when he used your phone to call an Uber since you’d both walked to the restaurant, imagine his surprise and anger in finding another friend of yours against him.
Y/n: I think I’ll tell him tonight, at his place. Somewhere he feels comfortable and won’t be embarrassed.
Rebekah: Good idea, I hope he takes it well. I don’t think he means to cling in all honesty. Might just be a subconscious decision since he hasn’t had many long term relationships. Hopefully he finds someone for him.
Y/n: I know, me too. I just feel so bad, he’s had like two or three girlfriends before me and none of them worked out :(
Rebekah: I know babe, but don’t stay with him out of pity. That’s even worse for him.
Y/n: It’s not pity, I’m not still with him out of pity. I really do love him, but I can’t help feeling as if I have no space. He’s always asking for where I am, and with whom. It’s overbearing. And he seemingly can’t handle me being independent, as if I need him to do everything for me. I’m not a child.
Rebekah: You aren’t, no where near it. I get that you love him, but this isn’t healthy. You both deserve better. Some girls love a guy who cares so much. Wishing you all the best, I have a wine bottle waiting for us x
Y/n: Maybe I can wait to do it another night? I’m having a good time, reminds me why I love him :(
Rebekah: No!! If you keep going you’ll never get away.
Y/n: Pleaseeee??
Rebekah: Breakup sex isn’t a horrible idea. Might soften the blow lmao 🤣
Y/n: That’s not what I meant! I’m gonna go, and am NOT leaving to have sex.
Rebekah: Whatever you say, happy break up day xx 💋
Happy break up day? What a bitch.
If there was one aspect of your relationship that never suffered, it was in the bedroom. And Evan couldn’t help but notice when he was closing your open apps, your cycle tracking app. His thumb hovered over it, he looked around to make sure you weren’t returning from the bathroom. Only a few words stuck out for Evan.
High chance of getting pregnant.
You soaked in the ride back to Evans place. One more night with him, that’s all you were giving him. The idea of breaking up with sounded alright over text, but actually facing it? Your hands were sweating, heart racing. You didn’t want to let go, but you knew you had to.
Now or never.
Your eyes darted around Evans apartment, soaking it all up for your last time, when his hands came around your waist as he kissed your neck. “A bit eager aren’t we?” You joked as his hold tightened, “Mhm.” He grabbed you by the hips before turning you to face him, “You look amazing, and you smell so good.” You couldn’t help but blush at the compliments, Evan always knew how to make a girl blush.
“I do?” His hands cradled your face, kissing you on the forehead, “You do baby.” Evan’s hands travelled down to your butt, “Up.” He only needed one word, and so did you. He carried you up the stairs, then softly laying you down on the bed.
Evan was swift in taking your dress off, then his own outfit. “I love you.” He spoke as he thrust into you, your hands held on tightly to his hair, “Oh god Evan!” He couldn’t contain his smirk, he loved you like this. An absolute mess, all for him.
“Say it back.” His fingers dug into your hips.
“Ow! What?” Your brain was foggy, Evans words went in and out your ears.
“Say. It. Back.” His voice held no sweetness, it was purely demanding. His pace was brutal, and again it felt as if you couldn’t breathe. The pleasure was overwhelming, you felt so good. “I…” Your heart was racing again, it felt wrong to tell him you loved him.
His teeth bit down on your collarbone, “I love you!”
You shouldn’t have said it back. It was all that you could think about as his demeanour changed again, a lovesick grin on his face as he kissed you passionately. His hands felt heavy on your skin, burning into you. All you could feel was Evan. Your head was hazy as he carried you, bridal style. The water was warm, and so was he.
Evan slid in behind you in the bath, his arms were strong around you. He took his time in cleaning you off, savouring the moment. “You hungry?” He sounded so casual, as if he hadn’t literally bruised you moments before. “A little.” Your voice was quiet for some reason, you didn’t know why. “We’ll have anything you want.”
That night you spent with him was one of the weirdest of your life. You felt safe with him, more so than you felt with anyone else. But you couldn’t shake the memories of prior times. Him literally crashing a birthday party to make sure you were where you said you were. Evan dragging you back into bed when you needed to work. Him telling you to not reach for the top shelf, saying it was ‘too much for you’. Or him cutting up your food.
Everytime he looked at you, you felt conflicted.
Was this what love was? Uncertainty? Through the night you found yourself tired. Your brain was constantly filing through a million thoughts, about Evan, about yourself and your life. You loved him, but would it be wrong to stay with someone who seemingly infiltrated every aspect of your life? You didn’t know, all you knew was that the pizza was amazing and he was snuggly.
So you stayed the night. You’d fallen asleep in his arms halfway through ‘Me Before You’. You’d spent majority of the movie arguing over whether she should’ve stayed with him or left. And whether he should’ve lived to be with her. “It’s not right! He’s miserable! She should be understanding of him wanting to leave! Which she is in the end.” Evan shook his head as he tossed his slice into the box. “You’re so wrong.” You gasped.
“He should stayed for her. He knew she loved him and it was selfish of him to leave.”
“He was miserable Evan!”
“Would you leave me if I lost my ability to walk?”
Well that sentence shut you up quickly. “I—, I wouldn’t. I’d stay with you. But the movie is different, she meets him afterwards. He’s already miserable, and she makes it better, yes. But he knows he can’t give her the life she deserves. So he’s selfless in letting her go. And also, if you wanted to go, I’d support you. I’d be sad, yes, but you’re not happy. And I’d want you to be happy.”
“I’d never tell you to leave me. You’re too good to let go. Having you by my side is all I need.” You remained staring at the screen, unable to move. “Thank you.” Evan raised his eyebrows at your dismissal of his words.
“I love you Y/n.”
You turned to him with a small smile, “Love you too.” And within ten minutes, you were sleeping in his arms. Evan glanced down at you with a smile before pulling out his phone. He typed out the date of yesterday. It seemed like a date he’d need to remember. And it was lucky, in about nine months, he’d be holding a mini you in his arms.
You woke up with Evans arm draped over you, locking you in place. You slipped out slowly, grabbing a shirt and leggings of yours. You’d failed in breaking up with him, you knew you had. Last night had sucked you right back in to the storm that was Evan Buckley.
He looked at peace when he slept. Content. Maybe you could have a talk with him about boundaries. You weren’t ready to let go of him yet. And it was exactly what he was counting on, he’d wormed his way into your life. To the point where you weren’t sure what life was like without him.
Evan kept his eyes closed as you left. Letting you think you’d gotten away without him knowing. Last night was amazing in his opinion, and when you didn’t respond through out the day he surprisingly kept his cool. He had a good feeling about the night, and if he was lucky, you’d come crawling back either way.
The day had been quiet, you ran some errands, completed your laundry. And with only one text for Evan compared to the usual twenty.
Have a good day ❤️
You found yourself smiling at the text. Simple and sweet. Maybe he’d read your mind and was now reeling back? God you hoped he was adjusting his behaviour. And through the rest of the week, he didn’t show up. He didn’t randomly come to pick you up from work, or bombard you with calls and texts when you went out for drinks. You’d become so accustomed to telling him your location that he didn’t have to ask.
You called every day, barely over an hour. Just debriefing eachother about your days and gossiping. It felt as if you were both improving in your relationship. You were lowering your guard, and he was working his way in. He wasn’t being too pushy, and you weren’t being protective.
And it was a new chapter in your eyes. Since he’d stayed that way. You found yourself even happier than usual. Going out with him more willingly, especially to dinners with the 118. In two months, they saw more of Bucks girlfriend then they had in the previous 7-8 months.
And whilst you may not have noticed any changes of your own physically, Evan sure did. He felt them, your chest was heavier, and a slight bump was developing. You’d recently been an avid sushi lover when it came to eating out, and you’d been having cravings.
You’d confided in Evan about missing your period, and whilst he acted concerned, it was probably the best news he’d ever gotten. He’d come home the next day after his shift with about six different home pregnancy tests. And you’d been willing to take them.
His world stopped when each one came out positive. But first he had to gauge your reaction, the relief was unmatched when you turned to him with a smile. “We’re having a kid.” You whispered as he nodded, “A mini you, or me.” Tears fell down your face as you squealed before jumping onto him. He laughed as you buried your face into his shoulder before facing him, “You’re gonna be a daddy.” And he couldn’t help but cry himself.
You were going to be a family.
Evan was outstanding when it came to taking care of you. Anything you needed was in front of you within the hour. You’re tired? Here’s a pillow, blanket and soothing sounds to help you sleep. You’re hungry? Here’s every craving that he’s logged of yours, with delivery on the way. You’re sore? He’s got oil in his hands and eager look on his face, to which you tease him.
“Missed me that much huh?”
“You have no idea.” He whispered before kissing you.
It was a Friday dinner at Bobby and Athena’s when you announced the pregnancy to them. To which you were met with blank stares which eventually erupted into cheers and hugs.
“Oh god, Bucks having a kid before me.” Chimney shuddered as Evan slapped his bicep, “Evans going to be an amazing father.” You smiled as he grinned, “Why thank you Mrs Buckley.” He kissed you before you could react, is marriage around the corner for you?
“Well actually…” Maddie spoke out as you all turned, “Oh my god, are we pregnant at the same time?” Her small nod caused chaos to erupt amongst the home, “Two new additions to the family!” Bobby cheered. Chimneys mind was close to exploding as he hugged her.
“I’m so happy they all know.” You spoke happily as Evan sighed, “I can’t believe she’s pregnant.” You kissed his cheek before holding his hands, “Do we need to have the butterflies and bees talk?” He rolled his eyes as you pretended to pout, and he poked your cheek.
“Can’t believe we’re going to be a family. The three of us, forever.” Evan kissed the top of your head as Athena and Bobby smiled, “They’re going to be great parents.” Bobby nodded along, “Can’t believe Buck’s going to be a father. I remember his first day, and now he has a whole family.” He couldn’t help the slight tears in his eyes.
As Evan stood in the middle of the room he felt happier than ever. He had a family he loved and a family member on the way. He knew he finally had everything the could’ve ever wanted. Especially with the girl he loved in his arms, and he’d never let go.

A/N: whoop, still doing this, I will try to finish before this october 🫣🫣 I've only gotten to season 5 of Supernatural so sorry this isn't more canon-centric
MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Constantly being on the road provided little privacy. Being the only girl in a team of hunters made it harder to have some. Being the only girl in a team of hunters that were brothers made it nearly impossible to have any.
But (Y/N) couldn’t complain. The Winchesters were the closest thing she had to a family, and they needed her help.
She had lost her parents at a young age and had made a life for herself as best as she could. She was sent from foster home to foster home until, at eighteen, she met Bobby Singer by chance during one of his hunts.
A couple of days before, she had been kidnapped by a young vampire as she walked from work and took her back to his nest, where she was fed upon from the moment she arrived. She believed she’d die there with nothing to show for her life other than a rundown apartment and a shitty waitressing job.
But just as everything had seemed bleak, Bobby had come in swinging a machete around and killed every single one of the vampires that had resided in the abandoned warehouse. Seeing the girl who was barely clinging to life, the man took her back to his motel and waited until she had regained consciousness.
He was sure she would scream, try to run away, or even hit him. Yet all she did was flutter her eyes open and thank him. She wasn’t afraid, nor was she angry. She had simply accepted what had happened to her as something else she had to deal with.
“You really ain’t scared of everything I just told you?” he had asked her that night as they ate some burgers. “I mean, I just told you that you almost died because of vampires, and you were more surprised that they put pickles in your burger.”
“I’ve dealt with worse shit in my life to find the supernatural unbelievable,” she shrugged. “With how my life goes, dying from a vampire is the least of my worries.”
Bobby had only met one other teenager as nonchalant and used to peril, and he had not been able to help him as much as he wanted to. But he knew he would always regret if he left (Y/N) to her own devices after meeting her. So, Bobby offered her a chance at a different life. Going against everything he had ever believed, he offered her a room at his place and a new job. And she said yes.
That answer had changed her entire existence.
(Y/N) took to the hunting lifestyle rapidly, finding it easier than being an eighteen-year-old girl living by herself in a sketchy part of town. She invested all her time and energy to get stronger and faster, wanting nothing more than to become better and better.
Bobby tried his best to keep her life balanced, especially after seeing what the hunting life had done to John Winchester’s sons, Dean and Sam. For years, he pushed her to have a social life and do things normal young people would. Still, he couldn’t squander her determination. So, when Dean called her up one day to help him and his brother find their father, she quickly agreed, much to Bobby’s dismay.
But once her mind was set on something, there wasn't much he could do; all he could do was hope she’d one day come back safe and sound.
And that was the day she had lost all sense of privacy. The trio jumped from motel to motel, and there was not enough money for two rooms. Thankfully, there always were two beds and sometimes a rickety couch, not that it helped the choking sexual tension between (Y/N) and the older Winchester.
From the moment they met, there was an undeniable chemistry between them. Sure, Dean flirted with anything that walked on two legs, but it was different with (Y/N). He wanted much more than just a one-night lay with her. He wanted the entire package–the apple pie life he’d dreamed of.
But he wanted something different for her—something better than what he could offer. Like Bobby, he didn’t want her involved in the hunting business. He had even begged Bobby not to let her go. But Sam was right. If they had any chance of finding their father, it would have been with her by their side. Just because he had agreed to let her tag along did not mean he didn’t worry whenever they were on a mission. If he wasn’t making sure that Sam wasn’t hurt, he was worried that (Y/N) was, and more often than not, his concern came out more like hostility rather than worry.
Much like their latest case. The three of them were sat at a diner, a giant breakfast spread on the table before them, and the only one eating was Dean. (Y/N) and Sam had their noses buried in books and laptops, trying to gather all information they could about a particular nest of vampires that had made their home in a small town outside of Detroit.
The case was particularly personal for (Y/N). The vamps that had been running amok the town had been the same ones that had almost taken her life many years before. Just like Bobby had told her, they left an item of the person they abducted with a star drawn in their blood at the place they were taken from. The creatures looked for easy targets and always hunted in the darkest corners of the night.
Now, (Y/N) had a plan to get to their nest, but it seemed she was the only one who thought it was a good one. “I’m just saying that it’s worth a try,” she whispered as she sipped her coffee. “I can make myself a target, and they’ll think it’s fucking divine intervention that they got the one that got away. Then you guys can follow and kill them all. I don’t see what’s so bad about that.”
“Are you fucking serious, (Y/N)?” Dean seethed. “They could kill you on the spot. It’s too risky.”
“It’s the only plan we’ve got right now that could actually end this,” she countered. “Even Sam thinks that it’s good.”
“All I said was that it could technically work,” the younger Winchester defended. “But I also agree with Dean that it’s too dangerous.”
“I don’t care if I get hurt as long as we get them.”
“It’s not about you getting hurt, (Y/N),” Dean spat, slamming what was left of his sandwich onto the plate. “It’s about you fucking dying.”
“Well, it’s a risk I’m willing to take,” she countered with the same anger. “It’s my life we’re talking about here, Dean. Not yours.”
“You’re fucking unbelievable!” he exclaimed through gritted teeth as he got up, grabbing his jacket in the process. “I’ll be in the room. I need to cool off.”
Sam and (Y/N) watched as the older Winchester left the diner, a cloud of steam almost visible in his step. It wasn’t the first time he had stormed out that way; it was his standard practice when things weren’t going according to his plan. But that moment, in particular, felt different. The energy was different.
“Okay, he needs to get over himself,” the girl muttered as she slouched in her seat, her arms crossed across her chest. “You guys cannot be the only ones allowed to sacrifice yourselves for the greater good. I know I can get hurt. I signed up for this job just like you guys did.”
“I don’t know who’s more oblivious,” Sam snickered as he popped a slice of bacon in his mouth. “You seriously don’t understand why he acts like that with you?”
“Because he’s a total douche with a god-complex?”
“No, idiot,” he laughed. “Because he likes you and cares about what happens to you.”
“Oh, come on, Sammy. We’ve been through this before,” (Y/N) said. “The only things Dean Winchester cares about are his car and you. I don’t even fall in the top five.”
“Jesus, you’re both just so stubborn,” he sighed, rubbing his temples. “Go talk to him, and then tell me if he doesn’t care.”
“He’s just gonna fight with me.”
“Go, (Y/N),” Sam exclaimed. “And actually talk to him.”
“Fine!” the young woman finally relented. “But you’re getting stuck with the research then.”
“Like that’s ever changed,” he scoffed jokingly. “Now, go.”
(Y/N) took the short walk back to the motel as slowly as she could, kicking a rock in her step as she fiddled with the key. It wasn’t the first time Sam had hinted at Dean’s supposed feelings for her. It had become his one source of teasing material since they had met for the first time. But she had always taken it as a joke, nothing more—just a quip a little brother used to bother his older brother. There was no way there was any truth to it. And if going to the room proved that, then that was what (Y/N) had to do.
As she neared the motel, she caught a glimpse of Baby, and a slight chuckle bubbled in her throat. That car was Dean’s one true love, and she knew that. He treated his vehicle better than any of the women he paraded in and out of their motel rooms or even the ones who never made it out of the bars. Hell, he treated it better than her or Sam at times.
That was the reason she had never admitted her feelings in the almost eight years she had known him. (Y/N) knew they wouldn’t be reciprocated. Dean had never given a single indication that he’d ever share her sentiment. Well, other than Sam’s words. But who could believe him then?
All she needed was one sign. A simple whisper from the universe that he did share in those feelings. That the reason he fought with her so much was because there were so many emotions bottled up inside him that he couldn’t help how they came out. Just one sign.
“(Y/N),” she heard an exhale as she neared the motel door. It was raspy and guttural, and she knew it had not come from the wind. “Fuck, (Y/N).”
She could have been dreaming. In the supernatural world, anything was possible. But the metal doorknob felt too cold in her hand, and the key turned too loudly for it to be her imagination. Behind that door, a scene was unfolding that surpassed her wildest fantasies, and she was the main character without knowing it.
(Y/N) opened the door slowly, pulling it upward to avoid the whining of the hinges, and she came face-to-face with something she could have only dreamed of. In fact, she was sure she had dreamt it before.
Dean was splayed in the middle of her bed, his hard cock in one hand and a pair of her underwear in the other. He ran his hand up and down his length, easing his pumping with the leaking precum that stained him. After every few strokes, he’d bring the piece of fabric to his face, taking a long drag before muttering (Y/N)’s name once more.
His eyes were pressed shut, and his movements were erratic. Dean was close, that much she could tell. She could see it in the way he breathed, in the way his hips stuttered, and the way his skin had grown red and flushed. Dean was reaching his climax with her name spilling from his tongue.
“So fucking stubborn,” he croaked out as his seed spilled all over his stomach. “(Y/N), fu~uck.”
“Good to know my underwear didn’t just disappear three months ago,” she grinned as she finally made herself known. “Didn’t take you for a panty sniffer, Deanie.”
“What the fuck are you doing here?” Dean exclaimed as he tried his best to cover himself. He pulled the sheets from under himself, pulling too hard and falling to the floor with a loud thud. “How long have you been there?”
“Long enough to know who you were thinking about,” (Y/N) taunted as she approached him. His legs were still on the bed, and his jeans pooled around his ankles while the sheet covered the rest of his body. At any given time, she would have made fun of him; tease him until he begged her to stop. But the heat that pooled between her legs had blurred her mind, and all that she wanted was to replace the hand that was working him. “Something you wanna tell me, Dean?”
“God, you’re insufferable,” Dean huffed as he tried to get up. “It’s not what you think.”
“And what do I think, Deanie? What did I just walk into?”
“I just needed to relieve some stress.”
“Oh, and do you always relieve your stress thinking of me?” (Y/N) mewled as she knelt down, her breath hot on his skin as she whispered in his ear. He stiffened up at her closeness, trying his best not to touch her. “See what I think, Deanie, is that what Sam’s been telling me is the truth. That you like me and that you care about me. And since daddy never taught you how to express yourself correctly, you just let everything out when you’re angry.”
Those words ignited a fire in Dean. He no longer cared about his lack of clothing or the situation (Y/N) had caught him in. All he wanted was to regain control. “You think you’re funny, huh?” he growled as he flipped her onto the ground and towered over her. “You think that just because you caught me like this, you know everything now?”
“I know enough,” she smirked up at him as she fought against his grip. “Matter of fact, I can feel it against my leg right now.”
“And you think it’s for you? You think you’re the only (Y/N) out there?”
“I’m the only one you know,” she teased. “And I’m the one whose panties you were sniffing.”
“It’s just a matter of convenience, (Y/N),” he shrugged. “You’re here. That’s that.”
“Are you sure, Dean? Because I’ve never seen you hoard the underwear of any of your past playdates. So, why mine? And why were you jacking off with my name rolling off your tongue?” (Y/N) propped her torso up by her elbows, pressing the tip of her nose to his, testing the waters before diving in. “And what if I told you I felt the same way, Deanie? What if I said that I’ve thought of you with my own hand down my pants? That I’ve edged myself for hours thinking of what you could do to me. And it’s not a matter of convenience for me, Dean. It’s the real deal.”
Dean couldn’t believe what the woman under him was saying. He’d gone so long thinking his feelings were one-sided that Sam only told him the things he wanted to hear. To him, (Y/N) was too smart and too beautiful ever to want to be with him. He wasn’t what she deserved, but now he knew he was what she wanted.
“Tell me you’re messing with me,” he grumbled. “Tell me this is just one big joke.”
“Why do you want me to lie to you, Dean? Is it so hard to believe that someone can feel something for you? That I love you?”
“You don’t mean that,” he continued. “How would you know what you feel is real? It’s not like you have a lot of options on the road.”
“Because I’ve felt like this from the moment I met you, Dean,” she confessed. Her heart had begun hammering inside her chest, begging for a moment of rest. But that was the last thing she wanted. It was the last thing she needed. “Why don’t you want to believe that I could feel this way about you?”
“Because you deserve better, (Y/N),” he muttered softly, almost like he didn’t want her to hear it. “I’m not better.”
(Y/N) knew words were not enough to calm the doubts that drowned his mind, but she knew how she could show it. With a smile on her face, she pulled one of Dean’s hands with her own as she unzipped her pants with her other. She moved their interlocked hands to the wetness that had pooled in her core, pressing his calloused fingers on the aching bundle of nerves that had been begging for attention. “I know what I deserve,” she hissed. “And I know what I want, Dean. I want you.”
“You don’t know what you’re saying,” he argued. But his fingers were telling another story. As if by instinct, his digits had started circling her clit, rubbing circles and shapes over the bud. “I’m damaged goods, (Y/N). I’m no good.”
“And I’m not better,” she added. “We all have a past, Dean. It can’t stop us from living in the present.”
“Is that what you’re doing, then?” Dean chuckled. “Living in the present?”
“We both are, Deanie,” (Y/N) grinned mischievously, knowing she had won him over. “As soon as you give in, baby.”
“You win, then,” he smiled. “For now.”
Dean pressed his lips to (Y/N)’s, savoring their softness and their warmth. It was everything he had imagined and more. They moved perfectly in sync, fitting into each other’s empty spaces like they had been crafted for each other. And maybe they were. Maybe they were part of some divine plan and had no idea. But at that moment, it didn’t matter. It was the fact that they were together that made everything just right.
“So, is this all because of me?” Dean taunted as he teased her folds. “This how you always are?”
“Yeah,” she sighed in pleasure. “I can’t help it when I’m with you.”
“Wish I had known earlier,” he grinned deviously. “I would have been taking care of you, (Y/N).”
“I think we’ve been taking care of ourselves quite well,” (Y/N) teased. “I mean, from what I saw today, you got your system down.”
“Oh, is that so? That mean you got your system too?”
“Well, I have not heard any complaints yet,” she chuckled. “I kind of know my body quite well.”
“Show me then.”
“What?”
“Did I stutter?” Dean smiled. “Get up on the bed and show me how you touch yourself thinking of me, baby.”
Dean slipped an arm under her legs and another on her back and carried her to the bed, where he laid her body softly on the mattress. He kissed his way down her body as he rid her of her clothes, revealing the valley of her skin and marking his path with his mouth.
“Show me,” he said as he kissed down her legs. “Show me what you do.”
“You gotta get off me first,” she chuckled. “Or are you gonna do the work for me?”
“As tempting as that sounds, baby, we gotta even the fields here. And we don’t have much time.”
With a slight chuckle, (Y/N) situated herself comfortably on the bed, propping her back up with a few pillows. Just enough so she could see Dean’s form. He had dragged a chair and rested it just at the foot of the bed, his eyes firmly trained on the woman’s body.
Soon enough, (Y/N)’s hands set off to work instinctively. They roamed her body sensuously, squeezing and kneading her most sensitive spots. As they worked their way through her skin, one rested upon her breast as the other made its way between her legs. She spread her limbs wide, giving Dean the show of a lifetime as her digits spread her folds and gathered her wetness before landing on her aching clit.
She knew it was her hands that were touching her, but her mind quickly tricked her into thinking it was Dean’s calloused fingers running across her body. In her head, it was him that was toying with her clit, it was him that was pinching her hardened nipples, it was him that was bringing her closer and closer to her awaited orgasm.
But it was clear that it wasn’t. Where he sat, Dean had taken his hard cock back into his hand, pumping at the same rate (Y/N) was touching herself. He slid his hand up and down his length, using his thumb to circle the head as precum coated him. In his head, it was her hand wrapped around him, squeezing softly as he tried to ride out his climax as long as he could.
“Fuck yourself, baby,” Dean groaned out. “I’m getting close here.”
“I always knew you were always too fast to the finish line,” she teased, concealing a moan that burst through. “Might just call you two-minute Dean.”
“You really know how to shatter the fantasy, (Y/N),” he sighed. “Just do it, baby.”
“Alright, but stop talking, Dean. You’re wrecking my fantasy here.”
After Dean finally quieted, stifling a moan that was bubbling, (Y/N) continued with her work. The hand that had been touching her chest slithered down her body, sinking into her core as her other hand continued her attack on her clit.
Moans and pants left her as she pistoned into her cunt, her digits curling at the end to bring her that much closer to her climax. She could see how hard it was for the man before her to keep up with her speed. His skin had started to redden and beads of sweat had formed across his body. His chest heaved quickly, and his movements stuttered as he held onto whatever resolution he had left.
“Fuck, Dean,” she moaned. “I’m so close, baby.”
“Me too, sweetheart,” he stammered. “Keep going. Cum for me, baby.”
(Y/N)’s picked up speed as she felt the tight coil in the pit of her stomach threatening to snap. She had done that dance many times before, searching, pushing, beckoning her orgasm to the brink. But it was the first time the Dean that was before her was real, close enough she could touch him. Close enough he could touch her.
It was that very thought that had her yelling out his name as her finish washed over her body, drenching her hands in her essence. Close behind, Dean burst across his stomach with her name dripping from his tongue, his eyes firmly trained on hers.
Dean took her into another rough kiss as they came down from their respective orgasms, her lips so irresistible he didn’t care how out of breath he was. “God, you’re perfect,” he panted. “So fucking perfect, baby.”
“Was that everything you had dreamed of?” (Y/N) teased with a grin. “Was that what was running through your head when I caught you?”
“Something like that,” he chuckled as he caressed her cheek. “It was more of a contact sport, if you get what I’m saying.”
“Well, we still got some time to kill before nightfall,” she offered. “And I’ve got enough for a round two.”
“Don’t threaten me with a good time, baby.”
As Dean kissed his way down (Y/N)’s neck, a knock on the door startled them apart, sending them scrambling for their clothes.
“Guys?” Sam called from the other side of the door. “Is everything okay with you two? We really need to get ready for tonight.”
“Fucking Sammy,” Dean grumbled quietly, his eyes rolling as he slipped his t-shirt on. “We were just getting done talking.”
“No fighting?”
“We were very civil, Sam,” (Y/N) called out, trying her best to swallow the laughter that was bubbling in her throat. The pair had gotten dressed in record time, fixing the bed and brushing their hair. She was slipping on her boots when she whispered to Dean, “We are definitely getting a raincheck on that round two, Dean.”
“Oh, you betcha, baby,” he grinned. “Don’t think I’ve ever been so grateful to be caught in the act.”
“Just be grateful it was me and not Sam,” she smiled before kissing him once more. “Now, let’s go kill us some vampires.”

Buddie 7x07 "Ghost of a Second Chance" Meta
So sorry for the delay! This one took me a minute due to life/work stuff happening, but here it is! A doozy! This episode had a lot of parallels with the other characters storylines happening so bear with me here! This is mostly going to be about Eddie.
This episode deals a lot with past trauma, specifically bringing up stuff that some of the characters haven't dealt with in a while or seemingly had already dealt with in the past. Maddie with Doug's abduction, Bobby and the apartment fire, Eddie and Shannon. All of these are re-introduced in this episode, but it's important to note that they are NOT resolved, mostly Bobby and Eddie, and will likely continue into the rest of the season. Maddie reacts the most noticeably to her trauma being triggered, and of the three, she's the only one who has actually managed to work through that trauma from the past, so while it does affect her, it does not cause her to self-destruct like Eddie and most likely Bobby will.
As many of us predicted, we theorized that it was going to get much worse for Eddie before it would get better. And this episode has put Eddie on that path that will likely take him towards rock bottom if Ryan and Tim's interviews and teasers for his 7b arc are to be believed.
The first big parallel to Eddie's storyline is the woman and her baby being abducted by a man with mental health problems who allowed a past trauma with his ex-wife/child to reach a dangerous point. While Eddie's actions in this episode are not placing a woman's life in danger, it does parallel how in pursuit of soothing his own pain, Eddie and this man, are prioritizing their own feelings, over the feelings of a woman stranger (Kim) and an innocent kid.
Tumblr media
I was already anticipating many many Shannon call-backs in this episode, but the writers dive in immediately by having Chimney intubate Catherine. This is the same heavy choice Chimeny had to make when Shannon was hit by a car, and Chimney was interim Captain. He had to make a choice to either intubate Shannon, effectively taking away her last chance to say dying words or to not intubate and allow Eddie and Shannon to exchange final words. With Shannon, Chimney does not intubate, but with Catherine, he does. This could possibly indicate the need for Eddie to make different decisions this time around if he wants to survive this new catastrophic plotline.
Tumblr media
This was an interesting way for the writers to give us a kind of "speedrun" of introducing us to Marisol a bit more. I know that the ENTIRE fandom has been bugging over the fact that we "hardly know anything about Marisol other than DIY and Nunnery", and now they're giving us more information, but notably it's all very surface-level information. It makes the scene feel like Eddie's trying to get to know her for the first time instead of this being a woman he's been seeing for about six months at this point.
While 7x05 did indicate to us that Eddie is trying to get to know her all over again, it really does drive home how little effort Eddie has put into trying to build a relationship with her, which is then further proved by the rest of the episode. All of this demonstrated very clearly just how little investment Eddie has had in ANY of his relationships after Shannon's death. It's probably supposed to make us think "Oh, that's because he only ever truly loved Shannon!" but in reality, the Eddie-Shannon onscreen relationship was very tumultuous, and they spent most of their relationship (even during their time pre-military) away from each other. All in all, the topic of how well Eddie knows the women he's with, and how much effort/investment he puts into his relationships (including Shannon) are being pulled into question here. And I think it's being done to show the audience that Eddie has only ever dated and married women as a duty and not something he actually does because he wants to be with the women as people. Once again, this includes Shannon.
Tumblr media
Before Marisol can even finish her two truths and a lie, Eddie interrupts, starting to dictate the conversation again, and Chris is the one who has to step in, reminding Eddie that this moment is about Marisol. Eddie has been the one to lead his relationships with both Ana and Marisol, almost to the point of steamrolling over them. A similar thing happened in his relationship with Shannon, where Shannon notes that Eddie is always making decisions for them without consulting her, including going to the military, or moving Chris to a new school, etc. and how that was always a giant issue in their relationship. While this moment is not Eddie purposely steamrolling over Marisol, it does show that again, Eddie has a myopic view of relationships with women, where he's constantly trying to steer them towards something that he wants without really letting the woman have any agency. Shannon had to physically leave him in order to get any agency of her own.
Additionally, the choice to have the get to know you game be "two truths and a lie", inherently implies dishonesty, or at least makes us think of lying. And considering that becomes a theme for Eddie this episode and likely in upcoming episodes, it's also indicative of the general theme of not knowing someone and not being honest with them. It could've been "twenty questions" or something not involving purposely lying, but instead it's two truths and lie, and Eddie is now about to be involved in a whole bunch of lies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've seen others point out that this line is clearly meant to compare Marisol and Shannon. Shannon, Chris and Eddie had a tradition involving smores, one that Chris and Eddie were trying to keep alive only last season when they visited Shannon's grave. This line is meant to show us that Marisol is not Shannon, and as Eddie actually gets to know her, this is more and more evident. It's no fault of Marisol's, but it's likely what is sticking in Eddie's head, right before he ends up meeting Kim. Eddie, once again dictating what he wants Marisol to be rather than accepting the truth of who Marisol is, exclaims that obviously Marisol has had smores because Shannon loved smores. But Marisol is not Shannon, and Eddie is always comparing his partners to Shannon in unhealthy ways.
Tumblr media
While this line is clearly a joke, nothing is done without purpose in TVland, and this is another one of those times where even though Eddie's joking, it's actually telling of how he actually feels. He's already had one foot out the door with Marisol for the last 3-4 episodes, and now it's the smores that makes him say "we can still leave her" because who Marisol is, does not align with who Shannon was. But the thing is, I have a hard time believing that Shannon was even who Eddie truly wanted, at least not without expectation or pressure. Shannon is an Ideal, and no one, not even Shannon herself, can live up to it. No woman is supposed to or can reach this Ideal, because (in my opinion) a woman is not really what Eddie wants deep down in his most hidden of unconscious desires.
Tumblr media
"You two aren't going anywhere". Oh, the dramatic irony is killing me here. Because not even a couple of minutes later, Marisol has lost Eddie for good when he sees Kim. The death bells have already been ringing from the very beginning, but this is the final death knell that has been rung. Even if Eddie stays with Marisol through most of this arc, their relationship will end, as will his relationship with Kim.
Tumblr media
Eddie and Kim lock eyes and he's reminded of Shannon instantly. Because of that, this relationship is dead before it even begins. A moment later, Christopher calls out "Dad!" just like he did when Shannon and Eddie were on the beach, interrupting Eddie's thoughts.
Marisol notices Eddie acting weird, asks if he's alright, he says he's fine, and she calls him out, asking "is that the truth or a lie?" He promises he's fine, but we as an audience know that's a big ole lie. This has been the case for years, and it's interesting that it's coming at this point in the season. The early half of the season we saw Eddie the "happiest" he's ever been. And I can't help but wonder how much of that was true happiness, and how much of that was just putting off thinking about it. It's easier to lie and say he's fine, that his relationships are fine, that his relationship with Shannon was fine. It's harder to admit the truth, that he's not okay, that his relationships with Marisol and Ana were unhealthy and his relationship with Shannon was the unhealthiest of all. It's easier to place the blame on his unhappiness on missing Shannon, instead of admitting that it's his own choices that are making him unhappy.
Another theme of this episode is internalized biases and misunderstanding the current situation due to being blinded by the past. Maddie misses crucial details of her call with Catherine because she was looking at it with too much bias about her own situation with Doug. Eddie also misremembers his past with Shannon, but instead of recognizing his mistake like Maddie, and trying to look at it objectively, Eddie lets that bias from the past effect his current decisions, which is already resulting in a mistake by cheating with Kim and will likely result in more mistakes the rest of this season.
Maddie heard what she expected to hear. Eddie is seeing in Kim what he expects to see from Shannon. Both lead to really bad outcomes.
Tumblr media
Eddie goes back to find Kim/Shannon, and they meet. She looks similar but not really the same (btw, kudos to the makeup team, wow). She has similar facial expressions (nose scrunches, giggles, etc.) and she asks him if he's looking for something specific. And the answer is yes, he's looking for Shannon in Kim, just as he was looking for Shannon in Marisol and Ana.
Tumblr media
This is very obviously a sexual innuendo, which is interesting because their first real interaction is showing more of a "sexual" chemistry, than anything really romantic, or soul-connecting. It's a clear harkening back to how Eddie would use sex as a way to stop fights between himself and Shannon. It's also one of Eddie's biggest distancing tools. He used sex to distance himself from Shannon and from Marisol, as an excuse to not address problems, or just simply to not get to know them. And given that Eddie was having sexual dysfunction issues in his last major episode, this is meant to provide a juxtaposition to that. Sort of a "Hey look Eddie couldn't get it up for Marisol the Nun but he can get it up for the Shannon look-alike". On the surface, this might be to show us that Eddie really only has sexual chemistry with Shannon, but if you look below the surface even a little bit, you'll realize that his sexual relationship with Shannon was also deeply dysfunctional, but in its own way.
Tumblr media
The answer is no. Eddie does not trust Kim because she's a stranger, but this line is meant to remind us that Eddie very much DID NOT trust Shannon for most of her arc in season 2 and even up until her death. It's a callback to the line in season 2 Merry Ex-Mas where Eddie says he "forgives Shannon but doesn't trust her" and Shannon says something along the lines of "Eddie trusting her enough to have sex with her, but not enough to let her see her own son". Kim is hitting all the lines that are meant to remind Eddie of rose colored "Good times" but are meant to remind us, the audience, of all the issues he had with Shannon.
Tumblr media
This moment of Eddie and Shannon on the beach is meant to represent Eddie's "happiest" moment on-screen with Shannon when she was alive. Eddie remembers it that way, as kissing Shannon and finally having his family back together. But in actuality, it was the start of the end for them. Shannon thought she was pregnant, paralleling the time when they accidentally got pregnant as teens and both of them had to put their lives on hold and commit to a marriage that might not have been the ultimate right choice for them. If any of you remember, this is also the moment where Eddie and "signs" and the "universe" are connected for the first time. Eddie asks for a sign, and Shannon says she's pregnant. In my personal opinion, this was supposed to be a sign for Eddie to not get back together with her, given how traumatic it was the first time around, but he ignores it and tries to push down his feelings. "Life is like a vat of chocolate, it pulls you down but it's comfortable". And when Shannon very clearly stated she wanted a divorce, Eddie did not really seem to accept it...and the universe took Shannon away permanently. (Again, I want to reiterate this is all about fiction I'm talking about here not irl, okay? This does not apply to real life) The universe tried to warn Eddie, to bring him a sign, and when he ignored it, as he always does, the universe decided it needed to take Shannon away permanently.
And now here we are again, 6 years later, with Eddie ignoring ALL the signs over and over and over, and setting about down this path with Marisol that literally everyone knows will not make Eddie happy, and what does the universe do? It throws him the biggest wrench it could by bringing someone who looks/acts like Shannon back into his life. Kim was brought in by the universe (the writers) to show Eddie that his relationship with Shannon was not as wonderful and amazing as he remembers it....and he ignores all of the signs yet a-fucking-gain. I get the feeling that this arc with Kim is going to end VERY. VERY. badly for Eddie. I think we should all be preparing ourselves for that.
Tumblr media
Eddie is making active duplicitous choices here. He's lying about being in a relationship with someone else, lying about being a single dad. And it's not the first time he's said something like this (see the "taken for now" line in 7x04), further demonstrating how he's always had one foot out the door with Marisol.
I also want to point out that Eddie lying and deceiving Kim and cheating on Marisol is not meant to be the show saying "this is good! this is who Eddie's supposed to end up with!" The writers know how most people feel about cheating. Most people are 100% aware that cheating is morally wrong, and by Eddie making these decisions, they're not supposed to show that Eddie is inherently a cheater or a bad guy. He's acting OOC on purpose. The writers want us to see Eddie lying and cheating and want us to clock that Something is Very Very Very Wrong and that has to do with Eddie's romantic relationships, Shannon, his perception of Shannon, his perception of his past marriage, and his expectations of himself.
We, as an audience, are not supposed to be enjoying this. We're meant to be uncomfortable.
Tumblr media
911 is doing something really interesting lately with their pointed use of Full First Names vs. Nicknames. When I heard this my first thought was actually of Ana and how cringe it was to hear her calling Eddie Edmundo all the time. Shannon actually never once called Eddie by his full name. If anything, Eddie calling himself Edmundo here, introducing himself by it, is once again supposed to trigger the audience's "Something Is Wrong Here" mode. I was also going to mention how this is also something a lot of people have felt with Tommy's constant use of "Evan" instead of Buck. Some people like it, some people don't, but everyone can acknowledge that it's odd and unusual.
Tumblr media
Even as he's flirting with Kim, talking more about "stimulation", Eddie is holding an "S" for Shannon. I think when Kim told Eddie her name, a sharp K, very far away from the soft S of Shannon, it was a slight shock to him. If her name was something similar like Sherri or Sheila or something, Eddie could've lived in the fantasy more. Her name being Kim momentarily broke the illusion, hence him looking down at the S for Shannon.
Tumblr media
Eddie is remembering the first time he slept with Shannon after she came back into his life while he's sitting at the table with Marisol, completely ignoring her. But not only that, as many people have pointed out, he's misremembering. The walls in the background are recent, with the new teal color and his new bed. Shannon's hair is a cross between dark and light, almost like a mix of Kim and Shannon, and--and this one rocked my world--they had sex right side up.
Many have pointed out how it's odd that Eddie and Marisol's sex scene harkened so similarly back to his one sex scene with Shannon, where they both ended up at the tail end of the bed, upside down. People have often discussed Eddie and his upside-down sex as a metaphor for unhealthy sexual connection, for misconnection, and right side up sex to be healthy sex. To find that he is thinking of him and Shannon in his memory of being right side up has been pointed out by others to be yet another example of Eddie's rose-colored memories of his past with Shannon. In his memory, he views his relationship and sexual relationship with Shannon as this Amazing and One of a Kind thing, hence the right-side-up sex, but in reality, it was upside down, it wasn't healthy.
He's looking at his relationship with Shannon through a veil of the present, chock full of regrets, would've/could've/should've's, and two almost-failed relationships. Not to mention that he literally was just having extreme sexual dysfunction with Marisol not even two episodes ago it's very likely that his remembering this passionate, voracious, unquenchable thirst for Shannon is also brought on by the fact that he's having sexual issues with Marisol. It might also be him wanting to remember that he does and did have desire for sex with women...as long as they're Shannon or reminding him of Shannon. This is not at all supposed to be something that is represented as healthy for Eddie, and I don't believe the show is trying to put across that message.
Eddie remembers his sex with Shannon, and when he decided to "bring Shannon home for Christmas". Even in this scene, the focus is not on the two of them as a couple. He doesn't talk about how much he missed her, or how it feels good to be close to her again. He talks about how he wants to reunite her and Christopher. "Santa" in this present day and age is bringing "Shannon" home for Christmas, by bringing Kim into Eddie's life.
Bringing it back to Maddie's storyline, with the Big Bad Kidnapper of this episode. He was encouraged by his sister to move across the country for a fresh start after his wife and baby left him due to his own abusive actions (assumed, but the sister did say they were "afraid of him"). We don't know too much of the details of this man's story, but it does show a clear parallel to Eddie too, with his wife leaving him to move across the country too (though she left their son with Eddie because obviously, Eddie's not abusive like this man). But the man's sister was hoping that this move would mean he would "stop looking for them". Eddie ends up doing the same thing with Shannon metaphorically. He never stops looking for her in all of his romantic relationships, hurting other women like Ana and Marisol, in the process.
Tumblr media
The man is so clearly a parallel to Eddie but in the worst most devolved way. Eddie has been seeking out a Mom for Chris for years, even when Shannon was alive. It was never about Shannon, wanting her, loving her, needing her because he's so deeply in love with her. No, it was, and still is, always about the mother she could be for Chris. It's the same thing he did with Ana, and with Marisol. I'm not sure if this thing he's doing with Kim will eventually lead there too, or if it won't make it that far before it gets blown up in his face. But Kim cannot be a new mother for Chris, even if she wants to be. Christopher would clock that she looks like Shannon, and might feel betrayed, like Eddie is actively trying to replace Shannon, which I doubt Christopher would take well. So what is Eddie's endgame here? In my honest opinion, I don't think he has one. I think he's acting on pure emotional hurt, and desperately seeking out a balm, and not considering the consequences of his actions.
Just like that man was hit dead on with the literal consequences with the police, I think Eddie's gonna be hit HARD as a result of these mistakes. I feel like it might be something really bad, possibly involving Christopher. If "isolation" is going to become the thing he might have to contend with Christopher being really really angry with him in whatever way that takes form, and the rest of the firefam not being happy with him either. I think Eddie's going to be going through another arc similar to where he was emotionally in season 3a with the streetfighting arc.
Tumblr media
Just how like the man who abducted her was a parallel to Eddie, Catherine herself is also a parallel to Eddie. She's clearly in pain, but she refuses drugs that will make her feel better. She feels she has to stay awake and endure the pain as a comeuppance, similar to how Eddie felt he had to endure his pain like a man because he deserved it. She feels her husband will hate her, just like how Eddie feared Shannon would hate him for what he did. He fears Shannon would never forgive him, but just like Catherine, even worse is the fact that Eddie has yet to ever forgive himself. No matter how many times people tell her it's not her fault, no matter how many times people tell Eddie he's a good father or a good person, they will never believe it. That guilt still rocks them, and for Eddie, it's been the monkey on his back every day LOONNGGG before Shannon even passed. Likely he's been dealing with it from the second he found out he got her pregnant. Even though Catherine's daughter was returned to her, she will still likely feel guilty, just as Eddie's guilt has lingered and festered and turned to rot the longer it's gone unchecked.
It'll only be once Eddie can let go of that guilt, let go of Shannon, and forgive himself, will he ever be able to actually start healing, and making the right choices for himself.
Tumblr media
Many people have pointed out how this parallels the scene in 3x03 with Christopher and Eddie coming to Buck's house after the tsunami. That was a moment where Buck was feeling "lost at sea" and Eddie and Chris came in to be his "life raft that gets you home." And now Eddie's the one lost at sea. He thinks he has to find Shannon when really all he really needs is here with Buck and Chris. Eddie and Chris are "late", but eventually, they will find their way home to Buck.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Have y'all ever heard the phrase "where there's smoke, there's fire"? It means that if there's a rumor or something being said about a topic, there must be some back story/truth in it. It's what I point out every time the show "jokes" about Eddie's sexuality or lack thereof to women, Eddie ready to leave Marisol, etc. They're in the script because there's a kernel of truth to them, even if it's still nebulous (or smoky) at the moment.
Additionally, Buck is making a new lasagna recipe (a metaphor for his new found bisexuality and MM relationship with Tommy) and something about it is not working. In the same way that I've been theorizing that there is misalingment in his relationship with Tommy, we're now seeing that lasagna (like in 6x01 where the couch theory was introduced) is yet another metaphor for Buck's relationships. He had 3 at that point in time (as well as 3 failed attempts at lasagna) and now he's here in a new relationship, and something about it isn't working, he just doesn't know what. I'll reiterate, it's not the bisexuality, but rather the person he's in a relationship with. This being told once again to Eddie, in Buck's kitchen, with Chris present, is driving home the point once again.
Eddie, on the other hand, is aligned with Buck. He knew ahead of time to order a pizza for them. This isn't usual, given that Buck's a good cook, and has cooked for Chris and Eddie many times. Eddie being attuned to Buck right now is meant to show that he can sense these things about Buck, even when it's not conscious.
"To be seen… to be found… isn't that what we're all searching for?"
Tumblr media
Buck assumes Eddie's meeting with Marisol, and Eddie does not correct him. I've seen other people mention how this feels like Eddie is cheating on Buck, and not really on Marisol, and in my opinion, that all comes down to who is Eddie more emotionally intimate with. He already feels super disconnected to Marisol, even more so in this episode, but we've spent the first half of this season establishing how Buck and Eddie are closer than ever. So Eddie lying to Buck feels like the real cheating here, because Eddie has only ever given himself fully to Buck, in all his messed up glory. He's never given that to Marisol, or Ana. And he most definitely never gave that to Shannon.
Side note, I loved the cologne line because it implies that Buck knows how Eddie smells, and that smelling him now is something Buck is enjoying. Him saying they won't wait up for Eddie further cements the domesticity of the scene. Buck has a full relationship with Chris outside of Eddie, but they also have a strongly established bond all three of them. In an episode where Eddie assumes Marisol must love smores despite her never having tried one, Eddie inherently knows that Buck's struggling with lasagna and needs to order a pizza.
Tumblr media
Eddie and Buck's flirting--because that's what it is-- feels natural. More so than the flirting with Marisol in the beginning of the episode, and more so than with Kim-Not-Shannon that was moored down by the reality that Eddie is severely projecting all of his major issues onto her. Buck and Eddie have an easy rapport filled with mutual support, inside jokes, gentle ribbing, synchronicity and above all, friendship and trust. THAT is why the betrayal of Eddie with Kim only a few moments later feels so stark and like a huge blow to the audience.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eddie sees Kim, and all he sees is Shannon's face, but I have to give MASSIVE kudos to the hair, costume, and makeup department here because they couldn't make Kim look ANY more starkly different from Shannon. In the scenes at the store, Kim is dressed more professionally, in lighter more inviting colors. And then here, when Kim can take off the customer service mask, and be fully herself, we see that she dresses in darker clothing, pants, and jackets with her hair up in almost an alternative-punk style. It's a MASSIVE contrast to Shannon who was almost always dressed in lighter, warmer colors, in shades of orange, yellow, and warm pinks, with minimal makeup and long flowy dresses or soft sweaters. Shannon's hair was almost always down and flowing around her face with her bangs. Kim's hair is completely up, totally out of her face in a severe bun look, without any bangs. She could not look father from Shannon if she tried. And yet, Eddie is not seeing Kim, he's not seeing the individual woman who's probably really lovely, the woman he's inherently hurting by using her to be reminded of his dead wife. No, all he sees is Shannon, and he's 100% willing to tank his whole life just to get a bit of that feeling back.
Eddie is on his way towards rock bottom, and this episode is only getting started. The glass is going to shatter extremely hard, and I worry for what the consequences will be for Eddie for all this, because there's no way he's escaping this without deep cuts. He will likely lose Marisol and Kim in one fell swoop. As for Buck, Chris and the rest of the 118, that's yet to be seen. But we know Eddie's parents show back up later on, so they could be coming in with the steel chair, likely to hit Eddie harder when he's already down. After all, the originator of "Don't drag him down with you, Eddie" is none other than Helena Diaz. This season is giving very strong season 3/4 vibes, and if that's the case, it's possible Helena and Ramon are going to pose a problem by the end of the season like they might've done in season 4 if things had gone as originally planned.
I'm worried, scared and excited to see how this ends up for Eddie. But I'm also hopeful. I see a light at the end of this tunnel. After all, it's always darkest just before dawn.
Thanks for reading my meta!

No joke, my dream mainline AA final entry (whether that be AA7 or later) is not one that simply brings back all the beloved living characters from past entries who’ve disappeared (Gumshoe, Franziska, Kay, etc.) I want it to lean hard into the concept of spirit channeling in order to bring back all the former big bads (Dahlia, Manfred, Kristoph, Phantom, etc.) but also the lost loved ones (Gregory, Mia, Clay, Jove, Dhurke, Metis, etc.) for an all-out, true send-off to the mainline series.
It’s Ace Attorney! It can be ridiculous; the stakes get stupidly higher with each game anyway! Let’s say Maya senses there’s havoc being wrecked in the spirit world, and she channels Mia to discover that something has gone terribly awry with Judgment and now everyone who’s ever died in the series is stuck in purgatory, unable to move on into either Heaven or Hell (or whatever equivalent there is in the world of Ace Attorney).
Mia and some other spirits who dealt with justice systems in life (whom we later discover to be the likes of Gregory Edgeworth, Dhurke Sahdmadhi, and Godot) are trying to sort it out, but they simply can’t do it on their own—so Mia is reaching out to the world of the living for help. Now all the main living characters—Phoenix, Apollo, Athena, Maya, Ema, Miles, Gumshoe, Klavier, Simon, Nahyuta, Franziska, everyone—have to team up to help their loved ones find peace and ensure their enemies face justice in the Beyond.
Like, can you imagine what an amazing emotional mess this could be? Miles having to face his father after all the mistakes he made in his life, and them working together to send Manfred to literal hell (and just think about how Franny fits into this dynamic). Apollo and Phoenix needing to unlock Kristoph’s black psychelocks, digging up all the Gavin family skeletons, and requiring Klavier’s help to do it. Simon and Athena and Metis and the actual Bobby Fulbright having to unmask the Phantom for real. The list goes on.
It’s pipe dream, but I’m foaming at the mouth just thinking about it.

Love You Better (Pt 3/5)
Tumblr media
Dean Winchester x Reader
The distance between you and Dean starts to take a toll. How much longer can the tension between the two of you continue before it snaps? And can your relationship survive his insecurities
I think only warnings are cursing and some sort of talk about sex
You weren't sure what exactly had woke you up. You blinked a couple times to let your eyes adjust to the darkness in the room. Nothing was out of place and you could hear Sam's snores coming from the adjoining room. You laid there a second before you heard Dean barely whisper your name.
You turned over to face him and saw in his face he was in pain. He looked broken even asleep. You gently touched his arm "Dean?" He jolted awake, green eyes wide as he took a few breaths. He finally focused on you so you asked if he was ok. He nodded "Yeah, I'm good" you knew he was lying but you also knew pushing it wouldn't work. "You called my name in your sleep. Bad dream?" He nodded quickly "The usual, you getting hurt" if you had been anyone else you would've believed that but there was a hesitation in his eyes, his touch that told you there was more.
You moved closer to him and laid your head over on his chest "Well try to get more sleep. I'm right here" he smiled but it didn't even reach his eyes. He leaned down and pressed a feather light kiss to your lips before settling back onto the pillows.
You were worried about him. You needed to ask Sam about the fallout from the time he'd gotten poisoned by a Djinn before, maybe call Charlie too since she'd dealt with it. After a moment of listening his heart beat under your ear you felt sleep nipping at your mind to pull you back under.
Tumblr media
Dean watched as you told Jax goodbye. He still wasn't sure of the reason the two of you had split. If he was being honest Jax was a decent guy and from what he'd seen and heard had damn near worshiped the ground you walked on.
--------
You hugged Jax and he whispered into your ear "You and Dean are a good fit" you pulled back and smiled "I'd like to think so" then motioned around the garage "This place seems to be doing well, I'm happy for you"
He nodded over to where Dean was leaning against the impala talking to Sam "Looks like we both landed where we were meant to" you hugged him once more before saying "Don't be a stranger"
-------
He walked you over to the impala and offered his hand to Dean first. When Dean shook it he smiled "Was good working with you again Dean. Take care man" Dean nodded "You too"
Jax shook Sam's hand too and thanked him for the help before the three of you decided to hit the road home.
-------------
You'd gotten about sixty miles from Austin and Dean was being a little distant still. You weren't sure what was wrong. He'd even let a few songs you knew he loved pass without so much as drumming along on the steering wheel. You cut your eyes up at Sam to see if he'd noticed but his eyes were on his phone screen checking emails.
You let out a breath then leaned up between the two of them to kiss Dean on the cheek "if you want me to drive I promise I can treat her right. You didn't sleep too well last night" he shook his head but a slight smile pulled at his lips "I'm good sweetheart"
You nodded and leaned back in the seat, he'd talk to you eventually. You had to trust that.
Tumblr media
Dean walked up the steps to Bobby's porch. He could hear the sound of music from inside. Certain things stuck out as feeling out of place. Like the junkyard had organization to it, the paint on the house was fresh and wasn't peeled anywhere not to mention the flowers blooming in the garden.
The nagging at the back of his mind grew worse but he pushed it down. He knew where he was, this was Bobby's there was no way anything too much was wrong. He hesitated with his hand on the knob and before he could turn it the door opened and there you stood.
"Sweetheart I think something is wrong" your eyes widened slightly but you nodded "What do you mean Dean?" Then looked around behind him "Where's Lisa? Did she get called into work last minute?" The confusion he felt he knew was visible on his face "Lisa?" Before he could question further he heard Jax's voice calling your name. The man in question came into view behind you and nodded to Dean before slipping an arm around your waist "Baby what's going on?"
Dean could feel his blood boiling as you turned to look up at Jax "I don't know. Dean was saying something was wrong and Lisa couldn't make it" Dean motioned between the two of you "What is going on?"
Your smile faltered slightly "We're celebrating Jax opening up two more garages across Texas. You don't remember?" He shook his head "I think I need to sit down" you stepped out of Jax's embrace to offer him a hand but he shook his head again "I'm good"
You stepped back to let him past you and he heard you tell Jax to go get some water and Ellen? Ellen was alive?
You followed Dean into the living room and sat next to him on the couch, your eyes full of worry "Should I call Lisa? Sam should be here soon" He shook his head and started to ask what was going on but noticed a ring on your left hand. His heart clenched in his chest as he motioned to it "That new?" You looked down at the ring then smiled brightly "We were gonna tell everyone over dinner but yes, Jax proposed last night"
He stared at you for a long second "How long have you two been together?" Your eyes furrowed slightly before you said "Dean did something happen? An accident or something?" He shrugged "I don't think so" you nodded slowly then said "Remember me and you had a fling but then after that wreck that we got into with Sam and Bobby I don't know I guess we started pulling away from each other. You ended up getting back with Lisa then Jax asked me out. That was God six years ago now?"
He felt like the room got ten degrees hotter, he could feel his chest tightening "So you and him have been together that whole time?" You nodded slowly "Im gonna call Lisa ok?" He watched you stand to walk away and knew this wasn't right.
--------------------
Lisa had ended up actually being at work but apparently everyone stayed at Bobby's when you landed in town? Which meant Bobby and Ellen were downstairs in their bedroom while Sam and Jess were in one room, you and Jax were in another and Dean was supposed to take the third room until Lisa could join him.
He couldn't sleep, you weren't supposed to be with Jax. You were supposed to be with him. Of course the sound of Sam and Jess having sex wasn't helping either. He eventually gave up and decided to head downstairs, he took a deep breath before walking past the room you and Jax were in.
When he heard you moan loudly it took everything he had not to break the door down and kill that son of a bitch.
"Dean!" You were on your knees in the bed shaking his arm, trying to get him to wake up. He was having a nightmare that much was clear. He'd been saying your name then his hands were balled into fists tight enough you were afraid he'd hurt himself.
When his eyes opened you ducked back to give him room to breath "Baby are you ok?" He stared at the ceiling for a second before nodding "Yeah, I'm good"
You watched him for a while before he finally sat up, leaning back against the headboard. The sheet pooled around his waist as he did so. He'd gone to bed wearing sleep pants and a tshirt which made you question why he'd been wearing a shirt when he normally didn't.
A slight smirk that was a ghost of his usual one played at his lips "Quick staring sweetheart. You know what I look like under these clothes" you felt your cheeks warm for feeling like an overly hormonal teenager. A couple days had passed since you'd been home from Texas and you were used to yours and Dean's sex life being a usual thing. It didn't bother you when you had reason but you were starting to wonder if something had happened you didn't know about.
"Excuse me for you being gorgeous there Dean" he shook his head at your words but smiled nonetheless "Come here" he held out an arm so you moved closer to him, ducking your head against his clothed chest "Are you sure you're ok?" You asked quietly "I'm ok" he replied and leaned down to press a kiss onto your lips. It was just a touch of a kiss but enough to take your breath away. God you were in love with him and seeing him like this was breaking your heart.
When you cut your eyes up at him he smiled "Let's get some sleep" you nodded and laid down against the pillows and he laid down behind you so you reached for his arm and pulled it around your waist before falling back asleep.
Tumblr media
You woke up the next morning and felt Dean's hand had slipped under the shirt you'd worn to bed and had cupped one of your breast in his sleep. You didn't want to move in fear of waking him because this was the most intimate touch you'd had with him since before the three of you had gone to Texas.
You missed his touch. He'd been barely kissing you. You felt him stir behind you and tried to stifle a moan when you felt his erection around your ass. He rolled his hips into yours and laughed as he moved his hand to pinch at your nipple" Good morning"
---------
You were like putty in Dean's hands, always had been. As he teased at your breast you shifted back into him, rubbing back against him "Are you feeling better?" You asked and he nodded biting down gently on your pulse point. You let out a moan and felt him freeze behind you. "Dean?" You turned and he smiled "I forgot we gotta help Jody do some stuff today. Better get up now so we can start getting stuff together to hit the road"
You watched him grab clothes and adjust himself in his pants before he came over to give you a quick kiss "Be back in a few" you watched him walk out and fought the urge to cry. What had you done to make him not want you?
Tumblr media
The sound of your moan rang through Dean's head. He should've ignored it, pushed through and give both of you the pleasure from being together you desperately needed but he could still hear you moaning Jax's name, the sounds of flesh hitting flesh and Jax praising your body.
He let the water rush over his face in the shower hoping maybe to wash it away. He didn't want to lose you because of this. He wanted to be selfish and just bury himself inside of you but the doubt remained what if you didn't love him like he loved you? He couldn't blame you, you deserved better but how the fuck was he even supposed to face that maybe you didn't want him like he wanted you?

i think it's funny that there's a sort of inevitability to buck and eddie becoming a popular ship when you look at the start of s2. and it's not because they're two attractive guys or because of their chemistry or even because of what their relationship becomes later on. it's because of how eddie is introduced and folded into the narrative
with abby gone, there's a void in the show
maddie slips into her role at dispatch, taking over that 911 operator pov and offering the compassionate and clever perspective abby brought to the emergencies she dealt with
eddie, on the other hand, takes on her role in buck's life
abby is the person buck spends the most time with on a one to one basis in s1. abby is the one he talks to and who also confides in him when she's struggling. abby is the one he makes a conscious decision to step up for at the end of s1.
with her gone, it would make sense narratively to introduce a new love interest for buck. instead they introduce his sister (a dynamic we understand already exists, even if we don't know it yet) and his new coworker/best friend (and rival for approximately 20 mins lol) and everything abby was to buck and was for buck basically gets transferred to eddie. this is the person he's spending time with now, this is the person confiding in him, this is the person he can show up for over and over again because he wants to
i remember when i was watching the show for the first time back in 2021 i was trying So Hard not to get sucked in to buddie so i was very much watching as an outside observer. and i remember watching those first 4 or 5 eps of s2 and thinking, 'oh yeah i see why this is a thing because if this was a man and a woman all of this would be hinting to them falling in love down the line'
and even all these years and rewatches later it still reads like that!!!!
so much of those first couple of eps is orchestrating moments to establish buck and eddie's dynamic:
buck reassuring eddie during the earthquake that chris is fine before bringing eddie to pick him up at the end of the night (vs. say, buck helping abby look for her mom when she's goes missing and reassuring her, until he brings her to the hospital once she's found - significantly their first meeting and the thing that changes things between them).
and then buck taking eddie to the hospital when pepa calls about isabel's accident, giving bobby a head's up about eddie bringing chris to the station, discussing eddie's struggles with maddie bc he wants to help, calling carla to help eddie with childcare (all a direct parallel to bobby's encouragement he step up for abby and the way he did try to do that before she left)
those first few eps tell us eddie is Important to buck and he is personally invested in trying to make eddie's life better/more manageable (and on the flip side, they obviously need to create connections between eddie and the other characters if they want us to root for him. and with bobby and athena together, hen with karen, and chimney about to meet maddie for the first time, the only person missing a counterpoint is buck)
and none of this is me saying the show intentionally put eddie in abby's shoes (they definitely didn't) but from a purely logistical perspective of making eddie buck's primary new scene partner and when you consider the show didn't make the effort to establish ali as a new viable rival to what abby was for buck, it's like, of course people are gonna latch onto eddie and buck's relationship instead!!!!! of course this is where we were gonna end up!!!!!! what else did you expect!!!!!!

An Unthinkable Choice....
Tumblr media
(Dean Winchester X you)
(Mentions of death and funeral)
Dean can't decide between saving you or Sammy, so you make the decision for him.....
When Dean found himself in the impossible situation of having to choose between saving you or his beloved brother Sammy, the weight of the decision was palpable. The bond between brothers ran deep, and Dean couldn't imagine a world without either of you.
As the anguished expression crossed Dean's face, you could see the hesitation in his eyes. The inner turmoil tore at his heart, tearing apart the very fabric of his being. Every instinct told him that he had to save both of you, but reality had dealt a cruel hand, demanding that he make an unthinkable choice.
Tumblr media
It was at that moment that you stepped forward, your resolve shining through the fear in your eyes. You knew what had to be done. Without a moment's hesitation, you sacrificed yourself, throwing your body in the path of the impending danger. Dean's cries of protest were drowned out by the roar of the oncoming threat. Time seemed to stand still as your selfless act unfolded.
In that split second, everything changed. The world seemed to dim as your life force faded away, leaving Dean devastated and desperate to reach your side. He cradled your motionless body, his trembling hands brushing strands of hair from your face. Tears streamed down his face as he whispered words of regret mixed with love and gratitude. Sammy ran over to be by your side, trying to console his brother. He knew how much Dean loved you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"You silly, brave idiot," Dean whispered, his voice choked with emotion. "Why did you have to do that? We could have found another way. I can't lose you... not like this." Dean picked you up, carrying you out to the impala. Laying you gently on the back seat. No words were spoken as he and Sammy drove back to the bunker, both of them looking back at your lifeless body every now and then.
When they got back to the bunker Sammy went to help Dean get you out of the car "don't touch her" he snapped at his brother. He didn't mean to shout at Sam, he knew he must of felt somewhat guilty about you dying. But Dean didn't blame him. As Sam made his way down the bunker steps, Dean followed behind with you in his arms. He laid you on the bed you had shared together. Brushing the hair out of your face, he placed your hands over your heart. He didn't want to believe you had gone, but he knew. Deep down inside he knew. He didn't want to leave you on your own, so he lay by your side. Sam knocked on the door to tell him he had phoned Jody and Bobby and that they were on their way. Dean didn't budge, he just lay there staring at you.

As your funeral was prepared, hunters from all corners of the country gathered to pay their respects. The air was heavy with grief and admiration for your sacrifice. Dean couldn't bring himself to speak, his pain silenced by the weight of his loss. But his presence spoke volumes, his steadfast devotion evident to all.
The hunters knew that this was not an ordinary funeral. It would be a ceremony befitting of a true hero. Dean worked tirelessly, constructing a pyre from seasoned timber. He wouldn't let anyone help, he wanted it to be perfect, it was for you after all. His love.
At the appointed time, Dean stepped forward to light the pyre, his hands trembling with a mixture of sorrow, love, and gratitude. The flames leapt to life, consuming the wood and transforming it into a blaze that reached for the heavens. As the fire crackled and roared, a bittersweet peace settled over the gathering.
Tumblr media
The hunters didn't mourn your loss in silence. Instead, they shared stories of your bravery, your wit, and your unwavering dedication to the fight against evil. They spoke of your laughter, the sound of which could bring hope even in the darkest of times. And as the tales unfolded, the weight of grief and loss was lifted, replaced by a celebration of your extraordinary life.
Dean, though still broken, found solace in this bittersweet ceremony. He knew that your sacrifice would never be forgotten, that your memory would live on in the hearts of those whose lives you had touched. And as he looked to the sky, he whispered a promise to you, his voice carried by the wind.
"I won't let your sacrifice be in vain," Dean vowed, his eyes shining with determination. "I'll keep fighting. I'll keep Sammy safe. And I'll make sure that your spirit lives on."
In the end, it was not just a hunter's funeral but a testament to the power of sacrifice, love, and the unbreakable bond that held you all together. As the flames continued to burn, lighting up the night with their fiery glow, Dean stood strong, ready to face the challenges that lay ahead. Your sacrifice had given him the strength to carry on, to fight for a world where love conquered darkness and heroes were never forgotten.

Look I love Eddie Diaz. I feel for him. I can’t imagine finding out you are going to be a father at 19. Getting Married because it’s what your parents want. Then enlisting in the army and being gone.
I can’t imagine what it was like to come back after being injured and dealing with PTSD, your wife upset with you, your son having CP, then having your wife disappear for two years. That is Devastating. And your parents wanting to control everything you do.
But that being said (this might be an unpopular opinion) but Eddie Diaz is kind of an asshole.
He sees Shannon again for the sake of their son to be able to go to good school in LA. Apparently he’s good with having sex with her but not allowing her to see Christopher. Even though his son wants to see her.
After she is killed he doesn’t get help, he watches his best friend get crushed by a whole firetruck, watches his best friend have a plumary embolism, and almost loses Christopher and Buck in tsunami.
Said friend is held back at every turn from working even after he was cleared. Treated like he didn’t know his own body, told by Bobby that he is the one holding Buck back. Instead of being there for Buck he is off with his new friend Lena fighting in illegal fights. Gets mad at Buck for suing Bobby no one else, Plus all the things that were said in the meeting with his lawyer. Even those were public record. Acts like a jilted wife at the grocery store. Calls Buck exhausting, and tells him he needs to suck it up. All because he hasn’t dealt with his own trauma. He throws Bucks Trauma in his face. Still haven’t forgiven Eddie for that one.
Treats every woman he has been with like a new mom for Christopher or a babysitter.
Wants Buck to be there for the emotional conversations for Christopher.
Treating Marisol and Kim pretty badly.
Although Kim was her own kind of freak.
Expects Buck to fix all his problems. I get it Buck wants to help and loves helping Eddie.
But we still have part of the fandom thinking Buck is the one who needs sorting out. More like Eddie needs a lifetime of therapy and to not date anyone period.
Sorry Eddie you need a warning label.
Do not date me unless you want to deal with being my sons new mom, babysitter, please do not touch me I have a whole lot of catholic guilt, and I’m still not over my dead wife.
God help me I still love him through all of that. I want him to get help and be happy alone for a while.
—————————————————————————
Apparently I ruffled some feathers. I did say it’s unpopular opinion. But that being said it’s just that an opinion. I love Eddie Diaz but he is a flawed character. I do not think it was ok for him to sleep with Shannon when he was not ready to bring her back into their life! That’s messed up. Believe me I could write a whole synopsis on how I hate Shannon Diaz but Eddie should not of slept with her.
Also you can block me

Because I’m not tired and my brain is going a million miles a minute because Tim f-ing Minear decided to drop some more stills.
Season 6 ending with Buck in a relationship and Eddie asking Marisol out for coffee. Obviously with three cruise ship episodes, there might not be a time jump for 7x01. However I think Tim is editing 7x01 and hence some of the stills. And he said they just cracked the seal on 7x04 so these stills are definitely not from that.
I theorized Marisol wouldn’t be around long. Some people think so (I do however love the idea of her playing a stalker. It would be amazing. We did call Jonah from day 1) but I don’t.
It’s a basic reset for new viewers.
We do know everyone recovered by the end of season 6, so this could tie into that.
My angsty AF theory is that Buck doesn’t know why he’s flailing with Eddie going out with Marisol. He’s been very involved with Natalia at the end of season 6 and therefore could think “I might need to take a step back from the Diazes.”
Buck hasn’t really dealt with the trauma of dying, of his coma dream and thinks if someone came back, then maybe he should date them. And he’s probably feels Eddie slipping away if he’s spending time with Marisol and Buck dives into the relationship with Natalia.
More below the cut before holy lord LONG POST.
In this still, it seems like they are still in sync at work. Probably putting out a fire and rescuing someone. This feels like the conversation in Jinx about Eddie running into Ana. They are bumping shoulders so they could be talking about relationships.
Tumblr media
Somewhere between this still and these stills below, something happens. That something makes Eddie work out hard enough to sweat which we have only seen maybe three times. Once when Buck was being a brat, another during the fighting and again when he’s on the treadmill after transferring. But for the most point, he only does this when he’s anxious or mad about something to do with Buck.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My angsty AF theory is that Buck really stepped back on their friendship and him being there for Chris. Eddie is still affected by the lightning strike and suddenly Buck isn’t there anymore. Whether it’s to give Eddie time to date or to spend more time with Natalia, Eddie is going through it.
He saw a life without Buck and he knows it sucks but he doesn’t know how to properly say that to Buck. And we have the puppy eyes where Buck asks if everything ok with Marisol and maybe just maybe getting a hint that something is off with him and Eddie.
These stills are reminiscent of Buck’s speech about Ana and Eddie’s lack of feelings and panic attacks about her. Except maybe this time, Buck starts to realize there might be more to this.
Tumblr media
Obviously Eddie is getting advice from Bobby but the last time he asked advice in this type of setting, it set him on the path towards Ana. Maybe this time Bobby’s advice is a little more direct.
Then we come to this still with Buck and Chris.
Tumblr media
This is not an usual still between this two. This speaks of tension and Chris maybe mad about something. And Buck looks like he’s trying to explain something. (Lyn’s color theory works well with this). Maybe he tries to explain why he hasn’t been around and tries to apologize for not being there.
It also relates back to Chris almost losing Buck. This kid has been through a lot but Buck has been a constant figure in his life for years now and Buck promised he would always be there.
So if it seems like Buck broke the promise and Chris is possibly taking it out on Eddie and Eddie is at a loss, then Buck finally gets it through his head that he doesn’t have to step back.
And he tries to talk to Chris about why he wasn’t around.
Obviously they all need to just talk to each other. Especially about the shooting, the will and the lightning strike.
Lastly we have this still. (I’m on Team Buck here)
Tumblr media
Maybe before the Chris and Buck still or after, Eddie finally caves and tries to let Buck know he is wanted and can come around whenever.
This should grab is also reminiscent of Eddie telling Buck there is no one he trusts more with Chris. It echoes the same exact feeling of “You are my family no matter what. You’re part of Christopher’s family no matter what.”
Despite the redemption of shitty parents in season 6, I hope Tim really gives us the found family feels we fell in love with. More so with the Buckley-Diaz family and how much Eddie has invited Buck into his and his son’s life from basically day 1. (Ok like day 7 but I digress).
I don’t think Buck is gonna allow Christopher to be injured physically. I think it’s going to play out in emotionally injured way because he would accidentally do that again.
And for the love of God, go to therapy.

JATP Season 2 Wishlist
that i wrote in my notes app back in:
Tumblr media
and realized i never posted it here? tbf i'm rarely on tumblr. but because i really miss them rn i want to share my ✨ brainrot ✨ that i had back when i thought they were getting a renewal.
Carrie Wilson
she was my biggest flaw in Season 1. I wish her "redemption arc" is fleshed out more in Season 2; give her either more context & backstory to validate her reason for unnecessarily antagonizing Julie, or screentime to properly address how she's just projecting an emotion completely different into bitterness and anger into Julie's recovery
show particularly her earlier dynamic w/ Flynn and Julie? Maybe as Flynn calls her out, we'd get flashback glimpses prior to Rose's death (maybe even Double Trouble temporarily being Triple Threat 👉🏽👈🏽)
for some reason i'm picturing a scene where she's in her dance studio (she has one in their mansion, of course) practicing some of her Dirty Candy routine when she keeps messing up and not in the right mindset to keep dancing. i feel like the best (maybe easiest but whatever) way to guide the audience into her artist mind is to make her be a perfectionist. in frustration, she blows up for a minute before slumping onto the ground and reminisces her fun times with Julie & Flynn
also when you have her develop, please don't make her lose her femininity and the bubblegum pop music, it's great
Old Songs Resurfacing
it'll prove how detailed & thorough you are as a screenwriter if you pay off the songs mentioned in Season 1 in passing to be actual songs in Season 2
Unreleased: Get Lost, Long Weekend, Crooked Teeth, My Name is Luke, and if that riff from the scene in EP. 5 that spurred on the Bobby reveal isn't from one of these songs, add that too
Demo Album: Late Last Night, Lakeside Reflection, In Your Starlight
Willex
imagine your queer couple gets to have their first kiss first than your het main couple, not only will that settle Madi & Charlie's statements about being uncomfortable in doing a kissing scene and maintaining the priority of Juke's emotional over physical relationship, it would also make an powerful statement
Reggie's Character Arc
i know that he initially had an arc that involved a romance with Flynn but because of the ages of who they casted, they scrapped it and didn't have time to rewrite the scripts for him as filming neared, so they have time to adapt to how jeremy portrayed him for season 2: a lovable dork who craves familial love
since there's a possibility that lifers can now see the boys, maybe some found family trope for Reggie and Ray Molina?
he has pretty much formed a parasocial relationship with him at this point
so why not instead of a love interest, Reggie can have his character arc develop & we see his family before thru flashbacks and paralleling those in the current times because he sees Ray as a father figure
picture this: it's raining, Bobby opens the garage door to the sound of knocking, the boys find Reggie soaking wet and out of breath when he tries to say he doesn't know where else to go then the boys immediately figure out another fight in the Peters household happened. Reggie tries to talk again when Alex (because even though they're the airhead-sarcastic duo, they know they love each other) runs up to hug him and tells the other he doesn't have to say anything
cut to a freshly showered Reggie, quietly watching tv with Bobby, Luke, and Alex in the garage, eating whatever
also a solo acoustic country song, pls. just to make him happy
The Aftermath of the Deaths
for both the boys and Rose
we get parallels about how Bobby dealt with trauma and grief to Julie
like, the reason why the clothes are still in there (are to have costume changes for the boys) is because Bobby immediately moved out of the house (therefore also the garage) and left the clothes there because he couldn't bear to burn it, or visit the boys' houses to break the news to their families and return the clothes, or donate it somewhere so he just...left it. it would make for a more solid reason (for costume changes) and an emotional context as to how Bobby really tried to forget them because it was "easier."
it would also make sense why Carrie and Julie ended up friends. Rose probably was there for Bobby when they discovered what happened at the alleyway, so they stayed friends over the years and had their respective families but still kept in touch, (bonus points if absolutely nothing romantic happened between them! yay to normalizing platonic male-female relationships) and why Rose would immediately think of Bobby's three late bandmates to send for Julie when she was on her deathbed
Bobby never really "moved on" (because grief is a really complex thing). it's showed that he has a therapist and everything, and this could definitely have some aftereffects on his daughter. Carrie growing up seeing her father be this amazing rockstar but a negligent father and only showing love in ways she doesn't need (like riches and fame and connections to the music industry) because he's actually a really lonely man on the inside and no one can see that except for Bobby's spouse and Carrie. it'd explain why Carrie is spoiled, and other negative character traits that Carrie has on the surface
it's even why Bobby changed his name to Trevor: 1) Bobby is so closely associated to Sunset Curve and it's an absolute pain to be reminded of that every day, 2) it's a stage name and artists really do get that
More Worldbuilding
they already had some pretty creative concepts/ideas in the first season, so why not expand/expound on them a bit more
the instruments are attached to their souls that's why the boys at first can only touch them, like how Willie's skateboard and helmet are attached to him
which is why when they attach themselves to the world of the present, they gather up energy and focus on touching tangible things like the picture frame
this may follow the logic toward the end where they are finally able to touch Julie because she has become attached to their souls. emotionally.
More Creative Collaboration
i believe in the principle that when a story is finally released/published/told to the world, the world shares it. this is also visible in film/tv where when the scripts are finished and actors receive them, the story becomes part of theirs to work on. which means that they have some sort of autonomy over their characters' motivations, a chance to be heard of their ideas and pitches, and why some certain scenes wouldn't work, etc etc. it doesn't just become the director's story nor the screenwriters'.
the actors' ideas such as Perfect Harmony and their solos from Nothing to Lose are great because they let them in. they took risks, and it paid off incredibly well. more of that please. have them be a part of the writing process, (also the story), but never forget what made the music production great in the first place. be coherent and don't be like others that let too many hands work on one piece—it will lose its sound, its identity.
Julie Knowing
that Nick is possessed by Caleb. ohmygOD. hear me out.
the same S1 ending will play somewhere in 2x01, but it will be revealed that Julie was watching through the window the entire time and when she opens the door to receive the flowers, that last look she gives him is actually her scheming.
determined to get Nick back, imagine The Promised Neverland's level of mindgames Julie could play with Caleb because we already know our girl's smart
Free Willie Willie's Freedom
since the boys feel indebted to Willie's help, they insist on helping him too with getting rid of Caleb's stamp
maybe through his connection with Alex? or maybe Willie's family or friends who are still lifers (which is unlikely but either way). he needs to be saved !!
Song Sequences Ideas
juke counter melody duet like Rini's "Even When/The Best Part," Shane & Mitchie's "Wouldn't Change a Thing," or dodie & Jon Cozart's "a love song/a non love song"
emotional carrie ballad paired with lyrical hiphop choreo
willex song - i absolutely have no idea where this could go directionally but maybe alex on an acoustic guitar with a really soft sweet tune
reprises of S1 songs but in the complete opposite of their original style (the fandom's lonelier All Eyes on Me version, i see u)
nick guitar solo - just because Sacha actually plays, idk how it'd fit in to the plot yet but hey
Nothing to Lose (Reprise) - back in the '90s, a producer manipulates Bobby to sign a record deal to become a star but on one condition: disassociate himself with Sunset Curve, to which he first declines until he slowly gets persuaded. (sort of like Todrick Hall's So Lucky to Be You meets Lyn Lapid's Producer Man)
"So how about it, Bobby Shaw? Do we have a deal?"
"Trevor."
"I'm sorry?"
"Call me Trevor Wilson."
i'm pretty sure someone made an animatic with this idea too but i cannot for the life of me find it !!
7. Season 2 starts the same way as Season 1 does before the opening song plays
Black screen that reads a text "Hollywood 1995"
a pan down to the Orpheum's overhead sign that reads "SUNSET CURVE SOLD OUT"
cut to the interior with Rose finishing up her cleaning when a stage manager calls out: "Sunset Curve!" to which Bobby abruptly stops his pacing back and forth to look up. he and Rose look at each other. music swells until...
cut to him running onto the alleyway, "are they still not finished eating? those gluttons are dead to me i swear—" he cuts off his own words when he sees the boys getting dragged onto stretchers. but we, the audience, don't see it. just a close up of bobby as the ambulance lights reflects his face. rose comes up behind him, still clutching their t-shirt.
[i honestly have no idea if Bobby should get on stage because it just proves Luke's theory of The Orpheum's opening bands eventually becoming big & successful so it'll explain the Trevor Wilson fame even though at first he only did it for the boys, or if he shouldn't because according to the article Julie googled he ran away immediately after they were pronounced in the scene] but either way, this is how the opening starts.
then it progresses to Rose and Bobby respectively having children so they could parallel each other blah blah
8. Julie plays a simple song on the piano while the guys watch her in awe
Storytelling through Props
let's dive deep into Rose's luggage/suitcase and use the props to head for Julie's emotional attachment with them
they already did it with the wardrobe: Rose wears the black leather vest in the pilot while Julie wears the same thing in EP 6
add depth to the characters' relationships like us finding out Julie's multilayered necklace is actually a gift from Carrie or something
SOYON ANN YOU'RE A GIFT FROM GOD. Bobby's necklace is present in both young and old!him
**Rose in flashback scenes should be wearing clothes we've already seen Julie in Season 1 just for greater effect.
The Bobby Conflict
definitely needs to be brought up again by Season 2; they only discarded somewhere in the middle because more pressing matters like the boys' existence blipping away was pushed to the forefront of the story
however, The Bobby Conflict changes. it'll be cleared up that he was offered a record deal as a solo artist by a manipulative producer. and given that the poor boy is only 17 (too, maybe), he agrees. what he doesn't know is the contract's fine print: giving up Sunset Curve's royalties
that information clears it up to the audience and the band, so the conflict becomes this: Bobby's Survivor's Guilt. god wouldn't that be so good tackling that in a kids'/family show.

Summary: "A man who's pure of heart...may still become a wolf when the autumn moon is bright" - Howl (F+TM)
BuckTommy Werewolf AU. Throughout most of his adult life, Tommy had dealt with what he was. The duality of being a man and also an animal…a beast. Werewolves weren’t born, they were made.

Tommy didn’t remember much about the time between leaving the wedding and getting back to his house. He had snapshots of Evan helping him with his clothes and then not much else other than his pillow and the smell of Evan near him. He woke up slowly the next morning, felt a little too warm because Evan was still in bed with him and literally lying on him. He couldn’t tell what time it was, but he knew that it was later in the morning and that he’d had a full night’s rest.
Months ago, he couldn’t have dreamed of having someone in his bed that he genuinely wanted there for more than just sex. Evan had changed that. He’d entered Tommy’s life and literally changed everything about it for the better.
Evan moved, stretching a bit as he woke.
“Hey,” he said, voice sleep rough and lazy.
“Hi,” Tommy said back. “I wasn’t too much trouble to get here was I?”
Evan chuckled. “No. You, uh, you walked on your own for the most part. I think my parents showing up was the final straw on keeping you awake.”
Tommy laughed. He did remember all of that. Out in the parking lot they had seen Athena make sure they got into their rental car and left, but he and Evan hadn’t hung out long enough to talk to her about how it had gone.
“At least they didn’t show up to the ceremony.”
“There is that,” Evan said. “They, uh, they gave Athena a letter to pass on to me. I don’t know if I even want it, but she said she’ll bring it by. I invited her and Bobby to dinner.”
“Here?” Tommy asked.
Evan nodded. “If that’s okay?”
“No, it’s…it’s great actually. We’ll have to go shopping if you’re thinking of cooking anything.”
“Yes, I figured that. We don’t have to get up yet, though.”
Tommy eyed Evan and he could see a glimmer in his eyes as he leaned over Tommy.
“There is something we didn’t get to last night,” Evan said.
He leaned down to kiss Tommy with the same hunger that had been present when they were in that bathroom at the wedding reception. Tommy responded at once, his arms went around Evan, bringing him down to rest on him. Evan gasped against him and Tommy just kissed him harder.
It had been more than a little shocking to Tommy how fast Evan had fallen into the physical aspect of their relationship. He was a bit of a sex fiend. Loved everything and was eager to learn. He had no hang ups about any of it, even though he’d never done anything with a guy prior to Tommy. He was eager too, and Tommy hadn’t known to trust that at first, had thought that Evan was putting some of it on. He had been so completely wrong because Evan was just that open about sex.Tommy had never wanted anyone as much as he wanted Evan and when he got him completely spread out, naked and his hole stretched out and ready for the first time, it was like a dream come true. It was always glorious.
When Evan gasped out, “want you inside.” Tommy felt himself get harder if possible.
“And what if I want the opposite?” Tommy asked.
Evan moaned. “Could be arranged,” he said cheekily. “Right now, though, I want you to fuck me.”
How could Tommy disappoint? He kissed Evan again hard and then flipped them over so that Evan was on his back under Tommy. He reached for the bedside table, still keeping as much contact with Evan as possible, and grabbed the bottle of lube.
He kissed down Evan’s neck and chest, not making any stops until he was down to Evan’s hips. Evan wiggled out of his underwear and Tommy helped. His cock was hard and wet. Beautiful. Tommy couldn’t help but take him in his mouth. Evan groaned, spread his legs.
“Tommy, please.”
“Turn over.”
Evan did at once, ass up in the air, but his arms folded under his head. Tommy didn’t know how he managed to keep it together just at seeing Evan like that. His hands smoothed out over Evan’s ass. Evan spread his legs, arched his back. He was too much. Tommy was quick, then, getting Evan prepped and ready. He’d never met someone that loved having his ass played with as much as Evan did.
By the time that he had Evan ready, he could tell his boyfriend was getting impatient, but Tommy knew what it felt like to not be prepped properly and he would never have Evan feel that.
Evan let out a keening sound when Tommy finally pressed himself into him. He pushed back and Tommy let him, until he was bottoming out and Evan was begging him to move.
It didn’t take very long. Evan came just seconds before Tommy,  grunting and moaning and saying his name in very desperate broken sounds, his hand on his own cock. They flopped onto the bed together sweaty and dirty and their mouths met in a lazy kiss.
“I love you,” Evan said.
“Love you too, Evan.”
Shopping with Tommy turned out more fun than Buck had expected. Tommy really didn’t cook much so he was missing a lot and figuring that he might cook at Tommy’s house more often, Buck bought more than just what he needed for Bobby’s recipe. Tommy was apparently a fiend for free samples and he was also completely unaware of appreciative glances sent his way.
Buck for his part, tried to keep the shopping list, but it turned out that Tommy got easily distracted by interesting looking items he was willing to try out. Buck, didn’t mind. He also wanted to buy everything he’d tried out. By the time that they got back to the house, it was late in the afternoon.
“So, Bobby has been teaching you to cook?” Tommy asked.
“Pretty much since I started at the 118. I’ve been trying to nail his lasagna, and I think I finally got it right the last few times I made it.”
He put Tommy in charge of a salad and focused on creating the layers on the pan.
“Are you going to read it?” Tommy asked when Buck had finally put the pan in the oven.
“I don’t know,” Buck said.
On the one hand, he’d wanted to tell Athena to just burn it so he never had to have it in front of him. On the other, he was curious and it was also possible that the letter could work against his parents in some way. At the wedding, they hadn’t exactly acted like they hated Buck for what he was, but that didn’t take back everything else they had done.
“Whatever you decide, I’ll be here,” Tommy said.
Bobby and Athena arrived with a bottle of wine and dessert.
“I’m glad to finally be here for a good reason,” Athena said.
“We are too,” Buck said.
“And I do bring good news,” Athena said, “your parents were on a flight out this morning.”
Buck hadn’t realized how relieving it was to hear that they had finally left LA. Athena patted his hand in understanding. After that they changed the subject and Buck got to find out that Tommy had been there when Athena and Bobby met for the first time.
Bobby chuckled. Athena glared at him.
“He just thrust this rooster at me,” she said.
Buck burst into laughter and looked towards Tommy.
“We were all out of our depth,” he said. “All of us were chasing this rooster around the yard and it still had knives attached. Nightmare. I wanted to just transform and bite into it, not gonna lie.”
Buck laughed even more and Bobby and Athena joined in.
“That was my first day,” Bobby said. “LA was not what I was expecting, but it was definitely the new start that I wanted.”
“It was definitely what the 118 needed,” Tommy said. “We’d gone through Captain after Captain for years before Bobby took it over. Definitely for the better. It made me rethink wanting to transfer, that’s for sure.”
“Thank you for saying that, Tommy,” Bobby said. “And I’m not saying I wouldn’t have minded you staying, but Buck took your spot and we wouldn’t be here without him.”
“No, we wouldn’t,” Tommy said and turned and pressed a kiss to the side of Buck’s head.
Buck knew he was blushing, especially at the smile that Athena bestowed on him.
In the end, when he was presented with it, he opened it without a second thought. Bobby, Athena, and Tommy watched him as his eyes took in his mother’s handwriting.
Evan,
Your father is convinced you won’t even read this. I thought I had to try. We’re sorry.
It may not mean much to you, not after everything we’ve done, but we are.
I wish you had told us when you were turned, though I understand why you didn’t.
It has made us rethink things. When your sister told us not to come to the wedding we realized that we were wrong. We had a lot of time to think sitting in jail and we’re not mad you put us there.
You may not want to believe us, but we’re done with it. We’re heading home and getting rid of everything. I hope one day things will be different between us. Better.
The last thing we want is to lose you or Maddie or Jee-Yun.
I really do hope that one day we can be a family again. Your father and I are sorry.
If there is anything we can do to make amends we’ll do it.
Love, mom
His emotions were all over the place. On the one hand there was the anger that he still felt for them, and yet the letter felt like some kind of offering of peace. An apology. He handed the letter to Tommy and tried to figure out just where he stood. If there was one thing, it was that he didn’t want to see or talk to them any time soon.
“Do you believe they’ll actually stop?” Tommy asked.
“Can I?” Athena asked.
Buck gave a nod at Athena and Tommy passed her the letter. “I, uh, I don’t know,” he said to Tommy.
“Hmm,” Athena said when she was done.
“You don’t buy it?” Bobby asked, taking the letter from her.
“I just don’t know how genuine it is,” Athena said. “You would know best, Buck.”
“All I know is that I don’t want to reach out to them. They’re not my family. You are.”
Athena shot a smile his way. Bobby did as well. Tommy gave his knee a squeeze. Tommy had never spoken about his parents much, but what Buck knew was that he had left home to go to enlist in the Army because he had no other options open to him and that when he was bitten he didn’t even think to go home or share the news with them. Instead he continued on his own. But he wasn’t alone anymore.
“So, the question now is what you want to do about all of it?”
Buck and Tommy had sort of talked about it during their time grocery shopping. What it came down to was the Werewolf Division and their stance on the hunters. For a government agency they were doing more harm than good and all in the name of secret keeping. Who knew how many hunters were out there and how often they managed to actually capture and kill a Werewolf. How many people were presumed dead or missing? How many deaths were covered up?
“I think we go right to the top,” Buck said. “What is good about keeping us secret if it means a portion of Werewolves are being hunted down and killed.”
Bobby was smiling and nodding. “We’ll all be here to help you both however you want that help.”
“Thanks, Bobby.”
“One thing I will say,” Athena said, “your parents might help in making this easier. They will have some information that will be of use. We could use that.”
She wasn’t wrong and it would be the best proof that they were willing to change.
“You’re probably right,” Buck said.
“She always is,” Bobby said.
Athena grabbed Buck’s hand. “We’ll talk about this more another time. No decisions need to be made tonight.”
Bobby and Athena didn’t stay too long after dessert. When Buck hugged Athena, she gave him a good squeeze and then did the same to Tommy. Bobby pulled him into a hug as well and Buck got to see how surprised Tommy was to receive the same treatment.
When they got back inside, Buck let Tommy pull him towards the living room. They collapsed together onto the couch. Buck was tired from all the cooking he’d done. He and Tommy still had to clean up the table and the kitchen and it just seemed like a lot.
“That went well,” Tommy said with a grin.
“I’m glad. I really do think they’re more my parents than my parents.”
Tommy smiled at him. “I’m glad you had them. I’m glad we have them. It makes all of this easier. Athena’s right, you know, your bio parents do have information that could be useful.”
“I know. I’ll think about it.”
“And now, come on, dishes. I would leave everything until tomorrow, but I know you, Evan.”
Buck laughed. He knew Tommy wasn’t wrong. He’d be annoyed if he walked into the kitchen in the morning and found piles of dirty plates and messy counters. He groaned getting up, but Tommy grabbed his hand.
“We’ll be done faster together and then we can just watch a movie.”
Buck let his mind wander as they cleaned. Tommy took care of filling up the dishwasher while Buck put things away and wiped everything down. They worked in sync and Buck couldn’t help but think about how easy it was for them to do things together. Maybe it was a bit early, but Buck didn’t hate the idea of living with Tommy. Of coming home to Tommy.
“You look a bit far away,” Tommy said.
“I’m just…I’m thinking about what you said.”
“About your parents?”
Buck shook his head. “No. About living together. We’re not rushing, not when we know this is it. I know it and I think you do too.”
“Really?”
“Yeah,” Buck said and he’d never been so sure. “I’ll have to check when my lease ends, but I think that’s the next step for us.”
Tommy grabbed him around the waist, brought him into a soft cherishing kiss. It said it all.
“Have I ever mentioned how glad I am to have met you?”
“Maybe not recently,” Buck said.
“Well, I am. I am so glad, Evan.”
“Yeah?”
“I hated to admit it to anyone but myself, but I was really lonely. People tried to befriend me but I was always afraid to let them in because I’m a Werewolf and how do you get to know someone if you can’t be truthful about who you are. You showed me that it can be easy and that there are people that will accept you for who you are. But I needed you and I’m just so glad you came into my life.”
“Wow, I don’t think I did all that on my own, but I love that I got to help you and make you less lonely.”
“A lot of it lands on you,” Tommy said.
When they were done cleaning, Tommy made them popcorn and Buck grabbed them beer. They settled onto the couch, Tommy putting on a romcom that Buck hadn’t seen before. They sat cuddled up together. Buck wanted this forever.
It was dark out, the moon was in the waxing gibbous phase, shining bright in the sky and almost full. A lot of the stars were visible. They were far enough into the forest that most light pollution didn’t affect what they could see of the sky. Their second night camping had left them all tired. Eddie was passed out on the hammock, tail wagging from time to time. Tommy couldn’t understand how he’d even made it onto the hammock as a wolf, but he had. He looked comfortable.
“Do you know any of the constellations?” Evan asked, finger pointed at the sky.
Tommy leaned back. “Some of the more visible ones. The big dipper.”
“Not a constellation,” Evan said. “It’s an asterism, but those stars belong to Ursa Major which is a constellation.”
“Oh,” Tommy said.
Evan smoothed the frown on his face with his fingers. “Everyone thinks it’s one since it’s easy to find. But I guess the most seen is probably Orion since it’s so bright.”
Evan lifted his hands and pointed them at the sky and Tommy followed the figure that Evan traced.
“Is that the biggest?”
“Hydra is,” Evan said.
“And which is your favorite?”
“Um…I guess the easy pick is Canis Major.”
Evan began explaining Canic Major, complete with the story behind it. Tommy listened, eyes going back and forth from the sky to Evan’s face. He really was lovely to listen to and to look at. When he finished his explanation, Tommy kissed him. Evan smiled into it, kissing back. They both settled back on their sleep mats a moment later.
It was a bit cold out, not helped by the fact that neither of them was wearing much. For Eddie’s sake they had put on underwear after changing back, but since then the sweat from running around had cooled off. Eddie had probably been right to shift to sleep even though they had set up the tent and it actually was big enough to fit all three of them.
The trip had felt right after how the last full moon went. Tommy actually had no idea who had decided it would be smart to go really deep into the forest and camp for more than just the night of the full moon. It wouldn’t be doable every month, but it was still nice.
They had even been talking about how maybe they could invite some of the others along and really make it a pack thing. Somehow, Tommy didn’t think that Athena and Karen or even Maddie could be persuaded to go camping but maybe Hen and Chim and the kids. Maybe even Bobby and Ravi. If he had managed to come out as a Werewolf to his friends at Harbor maybe some of them might be interested.
Earlier in the night, he’d sent a picture to Lucy, Melton, and Garita who only knew he was taking a few PTO days. He’d received several questions about his naked activities under the full moon. Someone had started a rumor that Tommy was a practicing wiccan and that had almost made him cry, he was laughing so hard.
He’d yet to answer, but he was thinking about telling them the truth on his next shift. Maybe on one of the slower days. With everything they were getting done with Athena regarding the Werewolf Division, it was probably about time he explained things to the people he worked with.
The wind was starting to pick up, making the night even cooler still.
“I think I’m going to shift,” Evan said. “Unless you want to go in the tent?”
“Shift,” Tommy said.
Evan kissed his cheek. Next he got up, dropping his underwear and transforming on the spot. He climbed back on the sleep mat with Tommy, splaying himself out against him. His fur was warm and soft and Evan gave his cheek a lick before pressing his cold nose to Tommy’s neck and letting out a yawn, his warm breath falling over Tommy.
Tommy ran his hand down Evan’s back and side and then up to his head to scratch behind his ears. Evan leaned into the touch. Evan was meant to be a Werewolf, he existed so well as one. He was confident about it, embraced every part of it. Tommy loved him for it too, for what it had brought out in him after he met Evan. He placed a kiss atop Evan’s head and then got out of his own underwear before transforming.
They cuddled together under the stars as wolves. Tommy breathed Evan in and slowly he drifted off feeling more peaceful than ever.
The next night, he, Evan, and Eddie transformed under the light of the full moon. When Eddie began to howl at the moon, Tommy tipped his own head up and joined him. Evan added his own howl a moment later. In the distance they heard other howls.

The more I think about it, the more annoyed I am that they completely ignored Buck’s relationship with Hen, during his coming out. I loved him coming out to Maddie, because it was so him. He loves and trusts her with everything and is comfortably around her, so of course he’d slip up and come out. However! Buck loves Hen like a second sister, and she loves him like a little brother, so do you know how easy it would have been to have Hen, Maddie, and Buck out for coffee or at the grocery store, and him saying what he said, and slipping up in front of both of them!? And then the scene would have played so well, because on one hand we had Maddie seeming not nearly as unsurprised as she should have been, which, fine! If we had to have her not know, then so what. But Hen!? Hen knew, and they even had her make an off hand comment about it, so why starve us of her knowing before the rest of the team? Why starve of us of him having two people on his side, who he loves dearly, know this bright new thing about him, and not care? Because no one he loves cares he’s into men, and if they wanted to go forward with humor, having Maddie be like, “How did we get here then?” While Hen is like, “About damn time we got here!” While Buck is like, “I don’t know! How did you know!?” While he was also freaking out over the date going badly and lying to Eddie, would have fit perfectly well into the episode.
Uuuuuuuuugggggghhhhhh. Season seven was so mishandled. They worried about too many things being stuffed into the season, that the smallest changes would have made it feel cozy yet emotional, instead of all over the place.
Season A-plot (not the first half the season, but the actual main, overarching story of the season) should have focused on Bobby’s descent toward commuting su*c*de, yet not succeeding, and finally and truly getting help for this aspect of his mental health, instead of being able to hide it behind his alcoholism and guilt. Then the next bulk of screen time could have focused on Eddie’s spiral into grief as he once and for all dealt with Shannon being gone and no longer having the life he spent so many years trying to force into fruition.
Buck’s storyline then could have been spread out, and they could have better built up him figuring out his feelings and desire to date men, even with Tommy being sprinkled in. Then Hen’s storyline could have also gotten fleshed out, because it would have been able to breathe, and give us a little more reason to even maybe understand the Councilwoman. I mean, imagine had they wrote her into the first two or so episodes during the cruise arc, with Hen and her becoming acquaintances and bonding over whatever, only for her son to then die and so on? Then the weight and stakes would have felt much more personal, because it’d be a woman Hen thought she’d become friends with, doing a total flip on her, and using her political pull to ruin Hen’s life.
We could have had so much! Bobby and Eddie regressing into their trauma, while Buck and Hen questioned themselves in terms of who they are and what they can or have provided to others, but no. Instead it was all rushed and half assed.

Ok here is the thing.
People are willfully misinterpreting the deleted scene. And I don’t care if you’re a BuckTommy or a Buddie shipper but what we’re NOT going to do is pass Hen and Karen’s actions as infantilizing or mean spirited.
Without making stories up here are the objective facts:
- Karen and Hen have watched Buck date 4 people who have hurt Buck because they wanted different things from him
-The last time we saw Tommy talking about relationships (and Hen was there) he was saying he didn’t want one
Now here is the thing they could do nothing. Lots of people said that since we didn’t see them give any of the girls this treatment that they should have just done the same this time. But here is the thing Buck is a grown ass man.
So we never see any of the 118 interfere in his relationships. Until they seem to be a problem or he brings them up. They all had opinions on him living at Abby’s house and on how he dealt with that. Chimney and Bobby both had things to say to Buck when he first slept with Taylor. At no point did they infantilize him or made it seem like he wasn’t capable of making decisions for himself.
But the difference is that they know Tommy even have a tentative friendship with him. So they don’t have to wait and see how it plays out. They can go ask Tommy what he wants so they know how to proceed. Because we as the audience know that Tommy and Buck had a talk about what they want. But Hen and Karen don’t. And as far as they know Tommy likes being single. But they know that’s outdated so they go and ask him.
They’re not questioning Buck’s judgement. They’re not even putting Tommy under a bad light. They’re asking him what his intentions are. What he wants. Because they know as much as we do that Buck wants something serious.
Which is why I love this scene. Because this scene says more about how Karen and Hen see Buck and how much they love him than anything else 😌

please write established (maybe married) buddie on a call and oblivious buck getting hit on, jealous eddie "excuse me, he is married. to me"
loooove your fics
read on ao3
Eddie's barely paying attention to the patients he and Hen are caring for. They're both fine, really, and were sitting on the sidewalk when the 118 got there so Hen and Eddie went to work while Buck and Chimney dealt with the fire. He's too busy watching Buck fight each car flame with expert efficiency. He's laughing with Chimney, head thrown back as they spray the chemicals with the precision of two firefighters who had a bond like brothers-in-law.
It's times like these where Eddie remembers exactly why he fell in love with Buck. He finds joy in any situation, good or bad, whether it directly impacts him or not. Even the two patients seem amused by his carefree joy, and who is Eddie to blame them? Buck won him over that way.
"Since I'm all checked out, can I go take a closer look at the damage?" his patient asks. She's only got a small laceration on her arm, presumably from a piece of shattered glass, but is otherwise unscathed. She's fine to walk, but he's a little confused about what she thinks might be left.
"Yeah, sure. Buck!" he shouts. Buck turns around immediately, the smile widening on his lips. "She--"
"Beverly," his patient interrupts with her own shout.
"Beverly wants to take a look. You good?"
Buck nods his head and puts the fire extinguisher down onto the pavement. Eddie should notice the way Beverly practically rushes over, somewhere between a skip and a saunter, but he's hyper-aware of how close the end of their shift is.
He's got Abuela cooking dinner at home and three off-days in a row to spend with Buck, their first since they got married a few months ago.
(Eddie wanted to take a honeymoon but Buck wanted to take a page out of Bobby and Athena's book and wait a little while. Eddie had to nix the cruise idea almost immediately, even though he can't believe Buck even asked.)
He just wants to clean up, restock the ambulance for the next crew, then spend the next three days with his family.
But of course, nothing is ever easy for Eddie. Not with a husband like Buck.
"Ugh, this is just my luck. My boyfriend broke up with me yesterday and my friend was just trying to cheer me up with a drive." Eddie can practically hear a pout of her lips and makes eye contact with Hen who rolls her eyes playfully in return. "I can't believe I'm single and carless, now."
"I'm sorry, that really sucks," Buck says. He sounds so authentic, Eddie's heart clenches.
"You might be able to help me with one of those problems," she shamelessly says.
Buck, the beautiful man he is, barely notices the flirtation. "We have a phone in the ambulance you can use to call someone to pick you up!" He's like a puppy in his response, and Beverly deflates instead of praising him like he clearly deserves.
"I can find a way home." She pauses like she's trying to think of how to get him back on track. Eddie snorts because he's been trying to figure out how to do that for almost a decade now. "So, do you live around here? There's a lot of really cool restaurants I can recommend for when you're done with your shift."
Eddie has to give her credit for some really solid attempts.
"Our station is actually on the other side of town and I live in the opposite direction, but I'll keep that in mind if I ever find my way out here!"
Beverly sighs and glances at her friend for assistance, who is next to no help since she's still in shock, like Beverly really should be.
"So, you're at station 118 then?" he hears Beverly ask. Her voice is so obviously flirtatious that Buck has to have noticed.
"Uh, y-yeah. 118, that's us," Buck mutters, tone laced with nerves.
Eddie glances over at the stutter and sees Beverly much closer than even Eddie would be to him on a call. His eyes narrow but he stays put. Buck can take care of himself.
"I bet you can lift that much, too, huh?" Beverly makes a dire mistake, and that's to reach out toward Buck. "I'm only 115, so it'd be pretty easy for you to... you know, lift me, right?"
Hen mutters, "Uh oh." It's loud enough for her patient to ask what's going on, but Eddie doesn't wait for her answer. He does hear Chimney's practically diabolical laughter, and Buck's awkward throat clear.
"I just weighed in at 190 and most nights he lifts me with ease, isn't that right, Buck?"
Eddie almost wishes he'd been recording. Beverly's mouth drops comedically open before her hand slaps it back up, Chimney and Hen break into maniacal laughter that seems to break the other patient from her shock, and Buck blushes a deep red that disappears under his turnout and as far down as Eddie's sure Beverly was trying to get.
Just because he can, Eddie adds, “Though, I’m sure after we take our honeymoon, you’ll gain a lot of muscle during our… workouts.”
“Jesus–” Buck breathes out. “It was great to meet you, Beverly. You said something about having a way to get home?”
“Yeah, I’ve got a ride…” She turns to Eddie, a delightful smirk on her face. “Though, it’s not nearly as pretty as yours.”
Buck’s a mess as Eddie bursts out in laughter, and he’s positive his team’s about to file a complaint to HR, but something about being able to stake his claim over Buck so openly now makes him giddy inside.
Yeah, it's times just like these where Eddie remembers exactly why he fell in love with Buck.
