sorry i don't have much better to ask, but how long have you been doing Jelllaverse stuff? it's always interesting to know how long people have had their ocs/stuff.
Jellaverse is not any official name lol, that's for organizational purposes in which I fucking forget to tag oc stuff as 😩😩😩😩😩 Also I need to update the link in the bio. Maybe temporarily hide it too
also DW ABOUT IT any ask is welcomed and appreciated! mamacita for the love of crust send me more
Answer under the cut
She-Clops has been the first among all of them, I think they've been there since 2016. It has had two rewrites and so many characters came and went but I think I'm satisfied with the Blueyesque story style it has now
Tumblr media
Ghost Pile and When The Moon Is Bright both came around 2017 when Deltarune and Cuphead are huge hits. These are probably gonna be dormant but like, I like to include em but also here's a random pic cuz I can't find any drawings of either
Tumblr media
The Light Plague started at 2018 and it has had many beautiful and painful rewrites. TLP is also the oc set with the densest story since it's a compilation of angsty characters that has each their own thing going on
Tumblr media
Crank Those Gears, I believe that was 2020 or 2021 during my TF2 era because that is heavily inspired by EngieSpy. Still adore GR-17 and Nodiel dearly, hope I get to start on the webcomic
Tumblr media
On the same world building as CTG, there's Shallow Stares with the magic tree babies. Shallow Stares came along shortly after She-Clops. One of the trees in the trio, Twelve, his design actually came to me in a dream and I just drew him. Next thing you know it became an entire dndesque adventuretimesque fantasy world, post apocalypse and all (and that apocalypse was TLP)
Tumblr media
Not part of any self made world but TF2 ocs but Michel and his team should also be here too, somewhere mid 2021 or early 2022, that beautiful fucker is made because the DNAD server (GODBLESS DNAD YEEHAW) has a pack of people who absolutely adores tentamercs and I joined in with em. Gave him a whole team with their own original traits to go along with them. I haven't posted anything about this but the Soldier in Michel's team is a druid that wanna be human
Tumblr media
Leave You're Not Safe Here, heavily inspired by Don't Hug Me, is the second newest out of all the sets, I think it's one year old or about to be a year old. Honestly I LOVE the concept of LYNSH cuz the main characters are all these weirdcore or abstract people but it's like a Regular Show thing so there's also humans in it. Tho the humans are rainbow coloured like Psychonauts characters (fun fact, TLP characters used to be coloured the same way, Cobalt is the only one that isn't changed) Lemme tell you smthn about LYNSH. It's the humans that act like weirdos and they insist that the abstract characters don't belong anywhere. Absolutely not a metaphor for anything
Tumblr media
And now it leads us to Cursed To Charm. First oc set that's collaborated with someone else on the writing, shoutout to my brother from the same mushroom root @beefy-the-stronk CtC is barely three months old and yet we already came up with three seasons worth of a timeline, it's beautiful shit

Ok but since we're all gonna die (/ref) can we actually discuss how kind of insane it is how little sm:mm matters to the overarching storyline of the insomniac universe
Like I genuinely believe if you were to erase the game from the timeline entirely, the only person this would affect is Aaron. Not even Miles. Aaron. That's it. The game is so insignificant that the main character of the game wouldn't change at all if it never happened. And that's really absurd when you consider how genuinely traumatic the events of sm:mm would be to Miles. Imagine you're tasked with protecting the city on your own for like a week and in that time, this mafia terrorist group pops up and starts causing shit, you find out your best friend is leading it, a whole ass gun war breaks out in the streets that definitely killed several innocents, and said best friend gets blown up. By you. You blew up your best friend. And you're telling me none of this matters to Miles in msm2??
and like I'm not even saying that the events of that game should've been a Huge major focus in this one. Obviously the game should focus more on the current story its trying tell than past events. But like. God. SOMETHING to acknowledge it happened at least. And no, various easter eggs around the map that you could go the entire game without ever finding don't count.
This is why it irks me so much that Phin was excluded from Miles's nightmare sequence, the scene in which he's being tormented by fake versions of all the people he feels like he failed. I really feel like the childhood best friend That He Blew Up would've fit perfectly there. And I've said this before but the only excuse I'm accepting for her not being in that scene is that Jasmin Savoy wasn't available to do it, because at least at that point its kind of out of the writers' hands. Otherwise it really feels to me like Insomniac just didn't care enough.
I also don't wanna hear any "Well maybe they don't wanna acknowledge sm:mm because it's badly written!! Maybe they don't wanna talk about Phin too much because she was badly written!!" Because. Really? You're gonna pretend the game about your black protagonist didn't happen just because it wasn't very good? The game that YOU didn't write very good? That just feels like excuses. Like, I agree that sm:mm wasn't written very good!! Absolutely!! But that's no reason to skip out on potential character arcs for Miles, especially when he, the black protagonist of these games, already gets pretty sidelined in favor of the white protagonist
My biggest hope for msm3 is that Miles's arc in that game centers around overcoming the trauma of like, Everything he's gone through thus far. He's already pretty much tackled what happened to his dad, now it's time for him to face everything else. And I think we already have the perfect set up for this, considering he's been left in charge of the city again, and the last time this happened everything went to shit in the worst ways possible. Have it be something about how the whole Underground Roxxon incident makes him doubt if he has what it takes to handle everything on his own again, and with the help of everyone he loves, he learns to push past all of that and feel more confident in himself. My awesome buddy @fun-k-boards also mentioned once that having Cindy as a potential step sister now could remind him a lot of his relationship with Phin, and I think that's a really sweet way to not only work Phin into the story but give Cindy a lot of significance to Miles's story
Honestly I just. Really hope msm3 makes this game significant to the story again. Like can we please all agree how wild it is that sm:mm doesn't really matter to anything at all

they kinda touched on the katherine/stefan situation when stefan told damon it took him years (decades? i don't remember the exact wording) to figure out exactly what she'd done to him. but you gotta remember: this is a show about vampires that was specifically written for teenagers. and in 2009 (when the first season aired), the teenage tv-show scene was a lot different than it is now.
these days we have shows that go into (sexual) abuse, mental health and suicide + the consequences of those things. back then? not so much. by the time talking about those topics on a show with a teenage audience was starting to become more acceptable, the tone for the vampire diaries had been set and it would have been very hard to go into those topics seriously without changing the entire tune of the show. The originals was a bit more mature for this reason (actually dealing with the problems the writers created for the characters) whilst legacies fixed this by simply not creating such serious scenarios.
I honestly believe that is also what happened to elena's character development--the elena we meet in season one would not have been so easily dismissive of other people's struggles. but season 1 was also still trying to be more mature than the later seasons would prove to be (i am conviced the network had something to do with this. CW wasn't known at the time for it's really dark themes. the vampire diaries was one of the first shows to do that. supernatural, too, but not the same kind of dark). if they had delved deeply into Damon abusing caroline, or all the bad things they did that sometimes they just had to do, but sometimes not really, elena's reactions would probably have been more like the elena we got to know in season 1. but they couldn't delve deeply into those topics, and so elena, as the main character, was turned into a dismissive friend and a very inconsistent character ("I don't want to be a vampire, stefan" to "being a vampire is awesome" and back is one example)
it's why I personally like katherine: she was the only one who's issues (and the consequences of those issues) were treated seriously by the show at all. we see her committing suicide on screen (which I guarantee they could only get away with bc the audience already knew she'd come back as a vampire), we see her dealing with the emotional ramifications of losing her entire family, of being a teen mother in a time when that was even less accepted than it is now, of meeting that daughter again later in life... and then the show needed a villain again and poof. all that character development goes away.
they couldn't deal with other issues with the same kind of depth because uh oh. SA. Can't talk about that if we still wanna bring the character who did it back later. Uh oh. Abusive relationship. Can't talk about THAT either. Now what? Let's just pretend it's fine and that most of the characters think it's fine. Damon and Elena have a toxic relationship? As Stefan says: doesn't matter, you're vampires. Caroline wants to bring up the way Damon manipulated her and compelled her into being with him AND also physically abused her? That seems serious. Let's have Elena say "well he's always been nice to me" so they don't have to talk about it.
You know what else the show never addresses? Mystic Falls is in the south. Damon fought in the war on the side of slave owners. Katherine called Emily a handmaiden but uh... newsflash: she was a slave. That's also a too serious topic for a teenage show about vampires that's being made in the year of our lord 2009. I honestly don't even get why they would have chosen that timeline. If you're going to stray from the books (where Stefan and Damon knew Katherine in 1500s italy) anyway, why not choose a time where there wasn't a civil war being fought (partly) over whether or not owning slaves was OK? Just a thought.
On some level, I wish they'd either stuck with the themes of the books, which were a bit less heavy, or just made TVD an 18+ show already so they could really get into the nitty gritty of the themes they created (like what HBO did with the southern vampire mysteries/true blood). The way Stefan and Damon talked about Katherine in season 1, I think at some point the plan WAS that they'd get into it, but as the show got less mature in later seasons all those situations that were already established before that point suddenly couldn't get a satisfying resolution. it also didn't help that Julie plec is a notorious fan-pleaser and really wanted to make Delena a thing DESPITE L.J. SMITH, WHO IS THE ORIGINAL WRITER, WANTING STELENA TO BE ENDGAME. Plec wanted to fanservice so much that she went against everything the story had originally been building towards and made delena canon. and listen, delena fans, I'm not denying delena had some good scenes and some proper buildup as well, but that's not the point. Damon and Elena in the books had chemistry, and Elena admits several times that she loves him. But she's always with stefan. until l.j. smith got fired, anyway. which guess what? Plec is responsible for. Because Delena absolutely had to be canon no matter what. Yet another reason they couldn't go into the whole damon-abused-caroline thing even in later seasons.
But hey. It's at least good to know that if they ever do a reboot (which isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility) they could probably delve into those issues more. Since teen shows actually go into those topics more now. Unfortunately rn Plec is still working on the TVDU as far as I know, so even if someone else produced a reboot, she'd probably make sure delena still ends up canon :/
Let's talk about TVD
For those who don't know TVD is the shortened name for the series known as The Vampire Diaries, the story centres around a girl by the name of Elena Gilbert after the tragic death of her parents.
Elena survives the accident that took her parents' lives and is preparing for her first day of school at the beginning of the series. Now, this all seems nice and mundane until the story progresses and she is dragged into the world of vampires, witches and werewolves, did I mention that she is a doppelganger and the most essential ingredient in a ritual that she has to die in. Yeah so not how she saw her life going.
To make matters worse she gets trapped in a love triangle between her boyfriend Stefan and his brother Damon. Right now that you are all caught up let's jump in.
While the show is quite popular and people celebrate the final victories of Elena and her friends I have an issue with multiple things.
Several Characters in this show are SA'ed one way or another and everyone acts like it's okay. When we are introduced to the Salvatore brothers the reason we are given for their feud is a woman. Not just any woman their sire and the 2nd doppelganger Katerina Petrova aka Katherine Pierce. She moves into their home and flirts with both men while compelling them to keep the relationship a secret from the other brother. While Damon was okay with her vampirism, Stefan was not he was horrified and did not want to be intimate with her anymore. What does Katherine do? Compel him to be fine with it and then continues to be intimate with him. Guys that isn't normal she should have stopped what she did was wrong. The second example is Damon Salvatore who I have to wonder if he is a serial offender what he did to Caroline was awful and nobody really told him off about it he even became best friends with her mother! Then he proceeds to do this with Andy Starr and admits that he was taught to do this by his mentor a female vampire by the name of Sage. He never apologises for these things. Others who come to mind are Klaus, Kol and Lucien however I can't confirm these so they are off the hook.
Elena Gilbert is either Toxic/narcissistic as hell. While at the beginning of the show, we see her as a mourning and afraid girl who is protective of her family which is not really who she is. She uses her friends to their own detriment not caring about the consequences until they really affect her. When she finds out about what Damon was doing to Caroline she scolded him briefly and moved on from the matter then after Caroline is changed she seems to completely forget why Caroline doesn't like Damon and even starts to treat him better than her friend. Another thing Bonnie Bennett has died countless times to protect and help Elena always at her own determent. When Bonnie dies she cries when she finds out it can kill Bonnie she cries but she does not learn from this at all, may I remind yall Bonnie's grams died doing something for ELENA. Then when it comes to not making enemies this girl just makes things worse for herself I mean yes Rebekah was the villain in her book but she had a chance to earn respect and Rebekah's trust what does this girl do stabs her in the back literally then pouts and cries when Rebekah runs her off of a bride when she in her infinite wisdom would not have been in that situation if she had left the woman alone. The situation with the cure as well pissed me off as they knew the consequences of killing an original and chose to kill Kol committing mass genocide and leaving Klaus with his brother's corpse. We all know they could have incapacitated him instead or like any wise person wait on Klaus. Elena is everyone's focus and they constantly sacrifice for her and she does not ever decide to do something smart about it to have a peaceful life. That bothers me.
Caroline and Bonnie Deserved Better. Let's start with our dear Bennett witch, Bonnie Shelia Bennett is a year younger than Elena and so far has died more times than anyone in the show. She never gets a happy ending at all Luka was not on her side and dies, Ben kidnaps her, Jeremy cheats on her and eventually dies, Kai is infatuated with her but tries to kill her, Kol and her would have been fun but it never came to pass and Enzo is killed by Stefan. In addition to it, all her family literally has bad luck with doppelgangers, Amara ran off with Qetsiyah's fiance, Katherine sold out Emily and got her burned at the stake and Elena was the reason Bonnie's mum lost her magic and became a vampire, Shelia died and Bonnie well you get my point. Everything was for Elena and Bonnie lost everything so many times. Now unto Caroline, she has been compelled, raped, taken advantage of, killed and turned without her consent, hated by her parents, and tortured by one of them. And before Klaus, she was of the opinion that every guy she was interested in preferred Elena. And sometimes Elena made things worse. She had a crush on Stefan he turned her down for the copy of his ex/rapist. She likes Matt that's cool and all but he still loves and will always choose Elena. He even looks to her for guidance/approval when it comes to his relationship with the blonde. And Tyler is an idiot who is situationally in love with caroline. The only man that really and truly wanted her honestly she could not be with cause he was Elena's enemy. And she only tells him on the condition he leaves town, not for her sake but everyone else's. When she finally gets Stefan he dies on the same day they get married. Caroline and Bonnie never get their happy-ending relationships because both of them lose the men they love every time. In addition, I would like to point out that they sacrificed so much and hardly got anything from it. Moving on from their love lives when someone turns off their humanity a lot of the things they say are honest to a point. I firmly believe a lot of the misery Elena put the both through without her humanity was the deeply buried thoughts the girl had. There is so much more I want to touch on but I'll leave these three points for now. Please note that I will be doing another relationship dive on TVD and the next show getting talked about will be either MLB, H2O just add water or Teen Wolf.

So. That pjo au??? I used to be obsessed with the series and would love to hear your takes on the au!! No pressure to respond :)
Ooo! I'd love to talk about it thank you for asking!
I already know this is gonna get long so read more:
Okay, so I've figured out parentage for just about everyone. However I mostly only have backstories and shit for SBI/Bench Trio/Las Navedas Crew so this will mostly be focused on them.
We'll go about this time line wise:
So Camp Half Blood is ran by Philza who's essentially in Chiron's place. I've set him as a centaur for the moment but honestly I might just make him a harpy or some other bird hybrid because having him be anything but a bird feels too weird. The 'Dionysis' in this scenario is gonna be Kristin who's a Goddess still, she's Hades and Persephone's second kid. She isn't always around but she's around enough that the campers are used to her. She can revive or kill anything living (which becomes very important later on).
I also should preemptively mention I've taken some liberties. For instance the 'three on a quest' thing doesn't exist and Satyr's aren't demigod protectors.
So my current 'timeline' starts with Techno showing up to the camp because he's the oldest of the current campers (19). When he shows up to camp though he's a literal baby, think Jason Grace kinda shit. Parent just said 'I aint dealing with this' and dropped him at the camp so Phil and Kristin raised him. It's a big reason why he's so strong now. Techno is a kid of Nemesis (if you want to know why I chose her or any of the other parents send me another ask cuz this is already gonna be hella long) and he doesn't really have any powers other then getting a mild strength boost when he's trying to get revenge.
Dream (Athena), George (Hypnos), Sapnap (Ares), Karl (Iris thought I might change it to Hecate) and Quackity (Tyche) all show up next. Don't have much to say about that. None of them rlly have backstories yet (though I do have their powers and shit done if you wanna ask me about those).
Punz, Purpled and Hannah show up next. Punz and Purpled are the only two I have at the current moment that are biological siblings. They're both kids of Nike about three years apart. Hannah is just a friend that's close enough to essentially be their sister (child of Demeter, obviously).
Now this next part is a little iffy but basically Techno is sent by Phil to go off and find Jack, cuz Jack Manifold is the only alive kid of one of the big three (child of Hades). This gets messy though because he ends up finding Niki (Nemesis), Wilbur (Apollo), Sally (Posidon), Fundy (Hermes), Tommy (Demeter), and Tubbo (Haephestus) on the same trip and has to somehow get them all back in one piece.
Spoiler alert: He doesn't manage it. Sally dies and Wilbur leaves pretty soon after they get back to camp because... well, man's is grieving and I need to show his death arc somehow without killing him (because I can't use the Kristin powers twice that's lame and I need them later).
Schaltt shows up after Wilbur leaves. He's a kid of Dionysis and long story short an ass, cuz this is modeled after dsmp right? I don't have it fully fleshed out but I know he gets together with Q for a bit and that relationship isn't super great and that he takes Tubbo and Fundy under his wing for a bit (which again, doesn't end super well). He dies in some super pathetic way at some point idk, who cares.
The fiancees also get together for a bit but end up breaking off for some reason I haven't decided yet. This only gets a mention because frankly I haven't fleshed it out and I'm not very focused on it.
Now we get to the fun parts.
Ranboo is a child of Aphrodite who shows up and gets taken under Techno's wing. Gets some training, makes friends with Tubbo and Tommy dunno poggers shit. He's a bit outcasted cuz he's... well, not a typical Aphrodite kid and also cuz man's still has his memory issues (not sure why he has them yet, might be trauma might be something else idk not super important as of now).
Ranboo, Tubbo and Tommy go on a quest where they find Michael (Demeter) and Shroud (Athena). Ranboo and Tubbo get together for jokes at first until it isn't, you know Pog shit.
The Las Navedas crew (Quackity, Purpled, Fundy, Sam (Athena), Foolish (Apollo though might change to Hecate)) go on a quest for some reason or other. Dunno specifics but it's led up to cuz Fundy starts getting those prophetic skin demigod dreams and has to have George walk in his dreams to figure shit out cuz you know, Fundy's like 12 in this au and has no idea wtf is going on. But anyway they find Charlie (Athena) along the way so that's fun.
Wilbur comes back to camp which is shocking cuz everyone just kinda... assumed he was dead. Think of that scene in the fourth pjo book or whatever when Percy shows up from Ogigia and everyone is like "WE THOUGHT YOU WERE FUCKING DEAD" its like that.
Then to mirror the burger van arc Wilbur, Quackity, Ranboo, Tubbo and Tommy are sent on a quest which I have actually planned out! For the most part anyway... I've planned Ranboo's arc, whatever same/dif.
Basically Ranboo is helping Wilbur and Quackity stop being idiots and get together, while in the process giving them shit therapy a la "I don't think your a bad person." It's fun. They meet his mom who's like "focus and love urself Jesus Christ," they meet Q's mom who tries to kill them in Las Vegas, Wilbur and Q get together finally, Ranboo dies to protect Tubbo it's a fun time. And Tommy is there because I want someone to call these dumbasses on their bullshit.
Anyway, so yeah, Ranboo's dead. Sam isn't an idiot here though (and Dream isn't evil) so we get revengers except Michael's find so they're just going to find Kristin in the underworld (cuz ofc she's gone when they need her) with Tommy and Wilbur to revive Ranboo. Tommy comes so I can do the fun "ig I like Ranboo or whatever" thing and Wilbur is there because I want him to be angsty about Sally. That's it, I just like torturing him, don't judge me.
Anyways this is just a gross generalization of everything and it's still like thirty paragraphs so... pls fkin send me more asks I want to talk about this more. Atm I want to write like just one shots for it that aren't in any particular order? Like I really want to do one for Techno and Ranboo going into their histories and parallels and shit. So... ye <3

Note
2: I will figure it out eventually and that's a promise.
3: Watson is aboustely heart broken and near tears multiple times as well hearing Ran in so much distress and actually crying. Jackie does cry, he attempts multiple times to hug Ran and make it known he's there to comfort him, but it only works sometimes, and when it doesn't work Ran gets scared and tries to get away believing an attacker has gotten him. Grievous is almost like silently grieving, knowing he can't do anything to help his close friend. Cletus feels bad, and since he isnt too good with emotions, focuses on instead attempting to cheer everyone else up. Isaac and Benjamin feel awful as they feel at fault for letting it happen, so to hopefully help they make plans on how to make Ran as comfortable and safe as can be while also getting him to a nearby town they heard about to hopefully reverse it. Charles is doing his damn best to comfort Ran while also distracting him from his own thoughts, which mostly means Charles (and Watson) play the role of story teller for a while. Ranbob is the hardest hit by it, he's suffering so much because he so badly just wants to go over and hug his little brother and comfort him, tell him that it'll all be ok and that Bobby would protect him. But also knows he can't because he knows that would most likely do nothing but make it worse. For a while he spends his time blocking his ears and wrapped in a comfort blanket trying to comfort himself, as everyone else tend to his suffering brother. One thing that makes it harder is that Ran begins to purr to himself in a vain attempt to comfort himself (cause I personally like to think Enderman hybrids are like cats and purr like them, when their happy, content, comfortable, but also to soothe themselves and heal wounds), when Ranbob knows Ran's never purred, so knowing he's so desperate to try it now hurts him.
You will get some comfort, like Watson manages to convince Ranbob to at least hug Ran, and Ranbob manages to purr alongside Ran a bit, which does actually help to calm Ran down. Ran getting wrapped up with the fluffiest blanket they have and always having Watson, Jackie, or Grievous by his side. With Jackie tending to hold his hand.
4: All of the above. Sudden touch can be overwhelming to Ranbob at times, especially when he's not doing well mentally. Also while in this state, touch reminds him of the desperate grabbing and touching of the people he killed that tried to escape or fend him off. And Dream was able to hurt Ranbob by starving and dehydrating him of course, but when Ranbob was being particularly disobedient and tried to fight back Dream would often take control and cut or stab Ranbob then gave back control as punishment.
10: It does get better! Idk if I already said but Kelalen is actually where they get the antidote for Rans blindness potion! And when their given it for free and it works, they become very grateful to Adler and Lucia (the one who actually convinced Adler to give them the potion in the first place cause it was the only one left). And a few days after they arrive they actually decide to explore the town, where they meet Siren and get more information on Dream and who he was, they also get their weapons and armor repaired by them. But while talking with Siren, Cletus and Grievous sneak off and run into Atlas, then Cletus and Grievous agree to help Atlas with his prank. But by the end of their second week in Kelalen the group starts to truly enjoy their stay, Ranbob often saying how it kind of reminds him of Mizu before everything happened.
12: Thats funny though and is exactly how I'd want to be seen.
13: *CLAPS HANDS* OH BOY DO I HAVE NEWS FOR YOU. I RECENTLY TOLD MY FRIEND ABOUT RANBOB SEEING HIS DEAD FRIENDS AND FAMILY BUT FAILED TO TELL THEM IT WASNT ACTUALLY PART OF THE STORY. SO THEY TOOK IT LITTERALY AND THEY HAVE GIVEN ME IDEAS, WHILE ALSO HELPING ME REALIZE THAT THIS COULD ACTUALLY BE USED TO SET UP FOR RANBOB MOVING PAST HIS TRAUMAS AND CAN LEAD TO MORE FLUFF AND ANGST. SO NOW IT IS PART OF THE STORY, WITH CHANGES THAT IT HAPPENED DURING A DREAM AND HE DIDNT BELIEVE IT AND CONSIDERED IT A CRUEL JOKE BY FATE ITSELF AT FIRST. AND YES BY AT FIRST I MEAN THIS HAPPENS MANY MORE TIMES.
Also my friend has a message for you, "HahA THEY BETTER THANK ME I SET THEM UP FOR MORE MISERY 😈😈 /j" (I wanna be safe so if you don't know /j means that their joking)
14: Im not doing Foolish and Dream brothers because I personally don't like/get it. But I was thinking maybe they meet Foolish after Mripat tells them that there was a member of the SMP who was said to be a god and immortal. And after some long conversations they decide to go hunt for this apparently immortal god. Which takes a while since no one actually knows where he is, just that he likes deserts, and have to go off possible sightings or hints in history books. And when they finally meet him they manage to learn about totems (which they previously didn't know about) and even get some. They also learn that infact even during the SMP time no one quite knew what Dream was, and learns the ways the SMP tried to permanently get rid of him. Foolish is also devastated to know that Dream infact survived and becomes determined to help them. Even offering his help that if they ever go back to Mizu to face Dream, he'll come along and help in anyway he can.
15: I like to imagine Edward remembers Ranboo as the young troubled enderman that he basically adopted and took care of. So Edward sees Ranboo in both Ran and Ranbob, so he offers his help and advice. Basically becoming their Grandad, telling stories about everything he's seen. Especially about Ranboo because Ranbob is so curious about his ancestor he just cant help but ask. One convo I've been particularly thinking about goes something like, "Edward: Older one, what do you think your brother thinks about you? Ranbob: I..I think he doesnt like me, and that he wants me gone. Edward: Hmm, your wrong. Ranbob: What? Edward: When I look at Ran, I see a child, not an adult yet, scarred, scared and traumatized. A child that wishes you two were closer, that he could forgive you and wants to believe you, just so you two could be family again. But is afraid too, for he already has a family, that he is terrified of losing, and is scared if he attempts to trust you again that they may leave him. But make no mistake, your brother wants to make amends, your brother cares about you and wants you happy. He knows deep down that he can trust you, and that you are innocent, but you all must help him acknowledge those parts, and stand by him, helping him walk when needed, as he traverses his own nightmares." AKA I really want Edward to be the reason Ranbob realizes that Ran does want to be family again but needs help. Cause if I had to describe the brothers current positions with their trauma it'll be, Ranbob-Knows he has trauma and is trying to get better and live with it, willingly getting help. Ran-Is fucking drowning in trauma cause he refuses to acknowledge he has it and hides it well most of the time, also doesn't ask for help.
2: I fear the day.
3: Hahaha, ow, ow, ow. That, overall, is...heartbreaking. At the same time though, it’s sweet to see everyone pitching in to do their best and help him. We got it with Ranbob, now we get it with Ran.
I am curious, though. From what you’ve said, Blindness potions don’t wear off immediately? Why’s that?
4: *Chants* Please punch Dream. Please punch Dream. Please punch Dream. How do the fishermen deal with this, and help Ranbob?
10: Oh, god, Ran’s blind when they arrive in town. That’s definitely a high tension situation. Not only have you got him out of commission, but everyone else high strung from it, and probably having their protective instincts in overdrive when they randomly get treated hostilely. What exactly does an antidote for blindness consist of? Do most potions have antidotes, or counters? Is milk no longer used, or is that not a thing in the AU? It does sound nice that they all end up making friends later on though. How does Ran adjust to having his sight back? And, y’know, having everyone see him like that, and his brother comfort him(if they aren’t on good terms at this point, the timeline’s confusing me a bit)
12: Throughout this conversation, every time I read something sad, the image struck me, and honestly, it’s what you deserve. If these keeps up, I’m gonna start inserting these little 🏹s every time you hurt my heart.
13: I’m being conspired against. Does everyone see this? Brothers Anon and their friend are conspiring to break my heart. Such gremlins. What did I ever do to you two?
Also, you can tell your friend that from this point on, I will closely associate them with a tiny, purple, cackling imp.
14: Huh. Why do they want to find Foolish? Curiosity? To learn more about the Smp? About Dream? Sounds like it has a lot of potential to be quite the interesting encounter. And, since they didn’t previously know about the totems, they probably wouldn’t notice if one activated in a certain situation where it’s popped...do with that what you will.
15: Anon, I love all of this. Tell me more about Grandpa Edward. Does he fondly look back to Ranboo being polite and quiet while Ranbob and Ran cause havoc in the background? Does he bake them snacks and tell them about Ranboo’s adventures, and how much he loved to mine-which, in hindsight, is kind of funny, considering you just mentioned that so few people follow Skeppy because of the mining, but apparently their ancestor did that thing for fun.

Hi, why did Jim not like Strickler dating Barbara? With Trollhunter!Claire how would things play out in Unbecoming? If the show had kept AAARRRGGHH female, how would this affect it, both in the show and meta? And finally, you mentioned the gay subtext with Blinky and AAARRRGGHH, why didn't they make them a couple? I mean, ever since Korra and Steven Universe, LBGT representation has skyrocketed, I don't want to come across as a SJW, but I just wish that the show took more chances with itself.
Okay, well, I should preface my analysis of Jim’s reaction to Stricklake by saying my biological parents are happily married to each other, so I have never personally been in the position of ‘child whose single parent has started dating again’; and I only knew two kids in high school whose parents I knew were divorced, and they didn’t talk to me about their parents’ love lives; so I can only infer based primarily on media stereotypes.
There are a few reasons portrayed in media as to why the child of a single parent reacts negatively to that parent getting a new love interest.
We can rule out Jim hoping his biological parents will get back together, because James Senior is a complete nonentity in their lives. Jim only mentions him four times, all in the first season - twice to Barbara (“You remember when I was old enough to ask about Dad? Remember what you told me? You said, we just have to take care of each other. And that’s all I’m doing, Mom.”) (“Shrimp cakes? Gosh, I haven’t had those since … since …” “Dad made them for us?” “I didn’t think you were old enough to remember.” ”Oh, I remember enough. I remember how his beard used to scratch my face when he hugged me. How he used to make you laugh. But most of all how much he hurt you when he left.”), once to Bular (“You wanna see Dad. I get it, trust me. But we don’t always get what we want.”), and once to Blinky (“You know I don’t care about my father!”)
There is, popularly shown in media and I’m sure it comes up in real life too, a dissonance in a kid’s mind between their school and home lives, which makes it uncomfortable to have their parents and teachers interacting, exacerbated if the student is having some kind of difficulty at school. Jim reacts negatively to Barbara’s interest in Strickler before he even knows Strickler is a Changeling. (“So. Mr Strickler. He seems very nice. Is he single?” “What?! I don’t know!”) (“Did you seriously just ask my teacher out on a date?!”)
Jim assumes something like a caregiver role at home, taking care of food prep and household maintenance. The introduction of a new person into their lives could set off a reflexive response of, “No, we don’t need you, we’ve been managing just fine on our own.”
Jim’s also very protective. The precedent of Barbara having a relationship that ended badly means Jim might be worrying from the start that a new relationship will also end in her getting hurt.
Any change, positive or negative, creates a stress response while a person readjusts. Having his mother start dating again would be a big change for Jim. (We see no indication she’s done so in the past ten years, although it’s possible she did and the relationships just never got serious enough for her to introduce the person to her son, and it’s also possible that it just never came up because Barbara’s past relationships weren’t relevant in a show focusing primarily on Jim being the Trollhunter.)
And then, of course, Jim finds out Strickler is a Changeling, and thereafter views all of Strickler’s interactions with Barbara through the lens of “he’s trying to get to me and using my mom as both a weapon and a shield”, which is accurate for quite some time, and of course is going to make Jim angry and scared, and not going to warm him to the idea of them being together.
An Unbecoming with Trollhunter!Claire raises the question of whether Not Enrique would still take Enrique’s place.
In canon, Enrique getting swapped was indirectly Jim and Toby’s fault. Because they followed the goblins to the museum, they saw Nomura in troll form, and she revealed the Fetch and suggested bringing in a new Changeling to convince Bular not to kill her after her identity was compromised.
Therefore, a solid argument can be made that in the show’s version of Unbecoming, Enrique was never kidnapped. We never do find out for sure.
If the swap happens because of something Claire did as Trollhunter, Enrique would probably never get switched in the Unbecoming episode, which would be one of the reasons Claire thought at first that it was a better world. (Though she might eventually realize she misses Not Enrique.)
On the other hand, if the initial Trollhunter!Claire timeline was one in which Not Enrique were already planted in the Nuñez house before Claire became the Trollhunter, then Claire’s dynamic with Not Enrique just got a lot more complicated. She has memories of growing to see Not Enrique as an adopted sibling, which he no longer shares, and she has memories of saving Original Enrique from the Darklands, which she is no longer in a position to be able to do.
I figure the ‘failed attempt to thwart the reopening of Killahead Bridge’ thing would happen, because I interpret Unbecoming as a worst-case-scenario vision crafted by Merlin to make the Trollhunter off-kilter and desperate enough to do what the wizard wants without question, but I see this backfiring when he reveals himself because Claire would be furious.
Either way, time reverts itself to how it was before at the end of the episode.
Honestly I don’t see it affecting the overall plot of the show much if AAARRRGGHH had remained Johanna, especially if the writers still went with the show backstory of “raised by Gumm-Gumms and then deserted” rather than the book backstory of “one of the leaders of the armies against Gunmar”.
She would probably have stayed a pacifist for the first half of Season One, to force Jim to have to learn how to fight instead of just hiding behind his big scary troll friend.
We might’ve actually seen cats in the Domzalski house, if the gag was kept that they are drawn to Johanna and love sleeping on her fur, to their peril; but all the cats-being-eaten scenes were just barely off-camera in the show, so maybe not.
I personally would’ve had a less negative reaction to Jlaire, because Claire wouldn’t be the only girl in the core cast, although I might still feel like it was an “Obligatory Het Romance So The Main Character Looks Straight (Or If He’s Bi It Never Comes Up In The Show)”.
BlinkAAARRRGGHH would probably be just as popular as it is now, but if the ship still wasn’t canon (or even if it was), there would also be a number of people defending keeping Blinky and Johanna ‘just friends’ because of the under-representation of close male-female friendships in popular media.
The fandom would probably also create the sapphic ship of Johanna/Nomura, based on how they’re both kickass fighter ladies who used to serve Gunmar and then deserted. (Johannomura? Nomuranna, despite the different number of ‘N’s, sounds like it refers to Nomura/Morgana, though I think that would called Nomurgana, and Jomura could be misinterpreted as the ‘J’ being for Jim, which … no. Johannomura is clearest. Maybe Johmura if that’s too long.)
I don’t know why BlinkAAARRRGGHH was never made official, but I can make some guesses.
Option 1: they didn’t know how popular the show would be and didn’t want to lose potential popularity due to censors not allowing it to air in certain countries or conservative parents not letting their kids watch it.
Option 2: because Blinky and Johanna genuinely did seem to be Not Romantically Involved in the novel, the writers didn’t realize that the adjustments and expansions made to the characters and their interactions made them look like they were together, and so the romantic subtext was unintentional.
Option 3: it was presumed that it went without saying, like how no one in the show goes out of their way to point out Claire’s parents are married to each other. (Okay, except Jim does address Claire’s parents as “Mr and Mrs Nuñez” twice, so that comparison doesn’t quite work.) This is probably the interpretation that will ‘age best’ as LGBT+ rep in children’s-marketed media becomes more prevalent and accepted.
Option 4: the writers have a different love interest planned for one or both of the characters, to be introduced in Wizards, and the romantic subtext between AAARRRGGHH and Blinky was either unintentional or meant to be one-sided.
Option 5: they aren’t together yet, and the script is building up to them becoming an official couple in Wizards.
