Do you like the Harry Potter movies too?

I’m going to preface this answer with the fact that I’m wearing Harry Potter socks as we speak😂, and I have a bin full of them bc that’s what ppl always give me as gifts-> hp stuff.

So, do I like the movies? The short answer is yes, very much. The long answer is yes, but I like some more than others for various reasons. I’m not a purist when it comes to transferring books onto film or tv. They’re two (technically 3) very different mediums, and the stories have to be told in different ways, highlighting different details. Sometimes I like the movie/show better, and most of the time I like the book better (bc you get a more thorough understanding of the story and the characters’ motivations). I definitely prefer the hp books to the films; however, I like them as an individual work of art that tells, perhaps, a slightly different story.

Bc I’m me, I wrote a novel in response. See below if you’re interested.

Overall, I think they did an excellent job with hp. The trio’s acting abilities grew with the story, and the adult cast was phenomenal. The music is also particularly good. I like the original 3 scores by John Williams a lot (those are all the recognizable melodies), but I actually like Patrick Doyle’s GoF score the best. It’s big and grand, and the new themes have depth, a totally different style and feel than before, which is perfect when you consider the change in tone from book 3 to 4. I only wish he’d kept the original themes more present. Alexandre Desplat’s 7th and 8th are really pretty too.

Movie-wise, the only one I really struggle with is Half-Blood Prince. Dumbledore and Harry are SO out of character. It’s happened with Dumbledore before (“HARRY, DiD yoU PuT yoUR namE in THe GobLeT oF FiRE?”), but Harry’s personality has been pretty spot on (for me). In movie 6, they have him hobnobbing with Slughorn willingly; he’s so weirdly bubbly and happy to please, which really goes against the whole Legilimens thing in the book that makes him miserable, and the Ginny scene in the RoR was disappointing and anti-climactic. I bought his relationship with Ginny in the books early on bc it was built up. She became her own character, interesting and powerful. It’s not believable in the movies. Excepting PoA, which I’ll mention next, I didn’t really have problems with them omitting plot points or adding details. You can’t have everything, and some things don’t work on screen. The problem for me was the difference in character. He was a completely different person, and it was jarring. Do I hate the movie? No. It’s just my least favorite.

Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite book hands down, and it’s bc Harry finds out he has family, people who love him; and he finds out more about his parents and their generation. He goes from being an orphan with a distant godfather-like figure (Dumbledore) and a friendly but somewhat irresponsible uncle-like figure (Hagrid) to also having a real godfather (Sirius) who loves him deeply and wants to be in his life and a kindly, role model uncle figure (lupin). Essentially, he finds out how much he is loved, and he now has ppl, ppl who are emotionally available, he can look up to. We won’t get into how much it breaks my heart that he loses them. So, needless to say, for me at least, the whole marauders plot line is very important, so when they cut it out of the 3rd film and then ended it with him flying on his broom, I was really upset. It took me years to watch that film and be able to see the artistry of the cinematography and appreciate how beautiful of a film it was. In the end, I think it captured the essence of the story more than it retold the story, and I’ve grown to love it for what it is. The important details are there. Harry grows; he changes; he learns; he just does it differently. Like many who loved the 4th book best and were disappointed in the movie (most of my friends), I didn’t initially like it. It grew on me.

I could give you opinions about all the films, honestly, but I doubt anyone’s gotten this far. As you can see, I love hp and know it intimately, which is why I struggle so much with JK turning into an evil troll. I can’t just turn this part of me off, and it hurts. It was my first great obsession, and apart from maybe sobbe (we’ll have to see about longevity there—and even then it doesn’t compare bc of the grand scale), I don’t know that anything comes close to how I feel about it. I’ve moved on, but it’s still a huge part of who I am, who I was.

Kat doesnt have a valley girl accent 😄lmao she sounds straight up Canadian. Tara sounds more like what you'd consider a "Valley girl" which really is a suburban accent because girls from the Valley do not talk like that at all. I dont even know if people outside of SoCal know what The Valley is but it's an actual place not just L.A. The "Like omg" stuff, thats all Calabasas, Beverly Hills speak. Watch Clueless, Cher talks like that and she lives in BH while Dion and her boyfriend sound more of what girls and guys in the Valley and L.A sound like (best example i could use im sorry lol).

Im really interested in learning if other states have this. I know New York does as does Texas where the accent changes in different places. Hows PA? Do you guys really use a hard R in your pronunciations?

i'm not saying kat has a full on valley girl accent, she sometimes can switch into that type of accent tho, depending on who she's with, i think. but i think what stops her from permanently talking like that is her thick canadian accent.

and tara definitely has that type of accent, mixed with a bit of the kardasian-esque one (which i wouldn't really qualify as valley girl since that's not what it fully sounds like, maybe tone wise i would say it's different since it's nasally).

i would say a philly accent is kinda like a new york accent. from what i've read on it, it's similar in a lot of ways to a nyc/baltimore accent, but of course since we're philly we gotta stand out and do so many other weird things lol

i will say my accent is a bit different than what most would think a philly accent is. first off i don't live in philly so that's kinda why, but also bc i did theater my accent has change a bit. plus living in the burbs outside of philly gives you a different accent altogether.

and then in other parts of pa... different story entirely. i don't know it that well, but i know it can get hella different than mine.

(hospitalisation & drugs & addiction tw) this made delilah spiral massively obviously.... she clung on by the skin of her teeth fr a while bt she rly was just getting quite out of control doing an extremely excessive amt of coke to get by at this point so her parents actually did.... end up shipping her off to switzerland for rehabilitation. they didn’t tell anyone this tho n as far as ppl were/are aware she was doing charity work with habitat for humanity in trinidad. her parents literally........... hired ppl to take photos of things there n a social media team posted them to her instagram account jst. the most elaborate lie.... it’s a lot.

hm well skam nl is my favorite and their social media game is trash LMAOOO so generally No but i do feel like remakes who DO have such a good presence kind of elevate the show and i think it’s pretty heartwarmin to see some remakes go sm farther than skam with social media and puttin out educational and IN CHARA resources like skames does this so well and i feel like in that way, the team is really really spreadin skam’s spirit via these resources (like joana’s billion bpd awareness ig accounts and lucas rubio’s yt channel)

2. Least favourite clip of the show? Why?

tbh there are definitely some duds but probably one of the clips with sana gettin herself into a hole in s4 just bc some were hard to watch cus cringey or yikes .... idk i cant think of others LMAO

season 1 - tbh even though i really enjoyed this season, it does take a while for it to build up like i rmr at first not being that interested until ep6 maybe ?? which is hard when you’re trying to get your friends to watch but they have to wait until ep6 before shit starts RLLY buildin up and gettin wild

season 2 - hm ig noora chasin after william ??

season 3 - bro NOTHINGGG call me a purist but its such a refined masterpiece like the pacing is good the characterization is so good ugh i deadass cant think of anythin

season 4 - i always felt a little ??? w noora being sana’s bff ig bc from s1-s3 it didn’t Feel like they were that close like even in noora’s pov, sana wasn’t really a part of it that much ?? like eva was more of noora’s bff ?? so i feel like it would have made more sense if maybe sana spoke more with chris or vilde bc sana and vilde eventually seemed to get closer esp with kosegruppa and chris has always been by sana’s side ?? idk that always confused me

5. What is your opinion on the cast’s participation on social media? Do you prefer it when the cast aren’t that involved like the Skam cast, or do you like a lot of content like the Fr cast do?

tbh i don’t care much abt the casts LMAOOO if anythin it kind of brings more harm as seen with the harassment axel and maxence get and also can bring more controversy like with irene (which honestly is p sad considerin how much i love skames bc now i feel super :/ watchin it like she shouldve just had private accts at this point)

OOOHHH ugh torn bc i like isak’s pov but also i want even’s so might have to forfeit isak season for even season ....... hm so probs vilde, sana, even, noora (maybe not w william tho) and honestly maybe jonas too ??

8. Are there any moments that you liked in the show that everyone else seems to hate?

IJXDWQOIJJ yes .... remakes-wise, people hate skam nl s2’s last half but i enjoyed it for the most part ... i think the pacing was off for the last ep but personally, clip 50 made up for it and is p god tier imo ..... and also don’t think the first half of ep10 is enough to discredit the entire season bc i rlly loved seeing liv’s pov and have sm fave moments from the season 

but skam wise, omg might get a lil controversial w this one IM SORRY !!! im bein honest and its Just my opinion ok 

personally s2 got me more invested than s1 and i don’t think its a super bad season like i didnt really say many problems wrong with it until i got on tumblr wiejioqjoiqjq i was sort of interested in the questions that the noora/william dynamic brought up which is, as expressed in william’s war speech to noora, that nothing is ever black/white which i feel was a huge message and feeds into the ‘you never know what ppl are going through’ theme of the season ... like i like the idea of someone like noora, who can have a black/white mentality (as seen in the first clip of s2 when she tells vilde that they can’t have the tannin company as their sponsor bc they objectify women or smth but misses the context and what it could mean for the bus monetarily bc shes caught up in bein ‘woke’) having to break out of that and see more than one side ... and i think remakes like skam austin expanded on this idea well like when zoya was like ‘must be so nice being right all the time’ which i Do feel like is an important for youth to know today .... bc i think its so easy to get caught up in the idea of being so objectively right and morally superior that people lose sight of the more nuanced characteristics to life ... (omg long ramble BUT)

also LMAOOOOO this one might be more controversial as it pertains to bench scene s4 ok oops again doNT GOTTA AGREE !! ........ but i feel like the scene had a lot of good intentions ... i was def kind of cringing a bit tho bc i understand the subject’s sensitivity and how these topics are hard to talk about but i genuinely feel like they both made Some points and should listen to each other .... like as Hard and as maybe ‘unwoke’ it is to admit, unfortunately you sort of do have to answer the tough questions bc that way we learn from each other .... and i perfectly understand why some ppl wouldn’t want to do this and i certainly am tired abt havin to answer shit abt my sexuality or stupid male questions abt women but if u dont answer them, people do go lookin for answers still and the internet is such a shitty place that its pretty easy (esp with youtube’s algorithm) to lead you to ignorant ppl and perhaps radicalization .... questions help us to better understand our community and sometimes they can have good intentions too but we have to ask and answer them or else people will make up answers (which ive literally seen and its honestly worse to see fake as shit and UNINFORMED answers bc ppl did not want to ask you or ppl of ur identity, esp when they’re already startin from a place of hate .... but i rather have ppl ask me patronizing questions than have them spread false info bc that can do much more harm in the long run) however i DO think that isak should also consider sana’s side and i sort of wish we saw him conceding more bc they both have smth to learn from one another, like sana shouldn’t just be learnin from isak, isak needs to learn from sana too

omg honestly too much to write here tbh ..... but if it says anythin im (very slowly) in the works of a three part skam essay about basically how skam teaches us to be better humans and how to better treat the people we care about diowjqioj essentially the three biggest themes of the show: you never know what someone is going through so always be kind, always communicate with your friends, and no person is ever alone and i feel like these are definitely rlly good messages to live by (also livet er nå BITCH !!!)

SEOKJIN 

seokjin is the type to play power ballads in the car 

maybe a bit of beyonce bc, y'all know our seokjinnie is diva 

and at the traffic lights ppl will literally be able to HEAR the both of you busting your lungs singing 

and you’ll have synchronised dance moves all down-packed to all the songs 

but seokjin isn’t one for EXTREMELY late night drives, bc he likes his beauty sleep 

however, he is definitely into fast food drive thrus 

he’ll make those iconic ‘hmmm’ and ‘wahhh’ noises and soon, it’ll rub off on you too 

it might be a good idea to let seokjin drive at all times bc you’ll be laughing way too hard at his attempts at jokes

oh it wouldn’t be silent all the time 

but sometimes it would be 

bc either you were having a nap 

or yoongi was having a nap 

and he napped in the backseat 

it would warm your heart to hear his soft snores bc YES FINALLY your baby is getting his much-deserved sleep 

yoongi would always wake up to the smell of food tho, bc you knew he’d be hungry when he woke up 

and that sorta rubbed off on him 

when you would wake up in the passenger seat after dozing off, yoongi would have brought you your absolute favourite foods 

and even tho you didnt know it, yoongi had really gone out of his way to get it for you - just to see you smile 

bc he had quite literally gone off course and done a u-turn just to get the food for ya 

he a sweetie, not a meanie 

and there’d sometimes be some RNB or trap music playing in the background 

but it was almost always piano instrumentals 

bc even tho he wouldnt admit it to you, that instrument truly was his first love 

but it helped him find you <3 

NAMJOON  

now car time for namjoonie is inspiration time  

actually no, all the time is inspiration time  

when you’re behind the wheel, you’ll literally be having a convo with joon and he’d just be like ‘ooh’ or ‘yes’ out of nowhere  

and you glance at him and he’s got his nose in his notebook, quickly scribbling lyrics in his secret book  

(it isn’t secret to you tho bc he’s shared all the lyrics he’s ever written with you)  

and then he’d realise he quite literally cut you off, so he’ll look up at you and apologise profusely  

“i did it again, didn’t i?”  “it’s okay joonie, you can take the man out of the studio but you can’t take the studio of the man”  

he’d do that shy giggle he does with his hand over his mouth when you say that  

but other times, when namjoon’s the one behind the wheel  - mind you this does not happen regularly bc you aren't afraid to admit that you fear for you life when namjoon is the one driving  

he’d play all of those amazing and beautiful songs he recommends through twitter and when he’d give you the aux cord  

oh boy

y’all will just be singing in the strangest of tones  but there’ll always be that one, heavenly moment when you’ll cut it out and literally harmonise by ACCIDENT   

and joon will just stare at you and you’ll stare at him before realising

HOSEOK  

i think you already know where this is going  

hoseok does not sit still in the car unless he is tired  

and that is a rare event  

he’s always groovin’ and moovin’ 

even if you accidentally switch the station to some random one that’s playing ethnic music 

he’s poppin’ and lockin’ and no one can stop him someone stop me  

but anyways, hoseok is the one who ultimately brought you out of your shell  

his dancing and his aura of pure happiness has been passed onto you  and so you’re always dancing in the car too  

and you two are the type to take videos of it (obv the person in passenger seat is taking the video, don't snapchat and drive peeps xx) and post them to twitter and instagram and all that jazz  

car time with hobi is forever and always a fun time  

but honey, let’s not forget that as well as dancing and spitting fire, this sunshine can SING  

if a ballad comes on, oh boy, you better make sure that seatbelt real tight or you’re going to fly out the window  

he literally leaves you speechless sometimes with his vocals  

and you don't tell him, but you always manage to record him when he's singing in the car  

and you save them for when he’s away on tour that way you can keep hobi in your pocket and keep him close

this lil mochi, my peachy boy, is the dude that’ll look cool af in the car  

even if you two are on your way late at night to get something to eat  

you're out there wearing no paints, socks and slides and one of jimin’s shirts that are oversized for even him  

whilst ya boy is out there wearing sweatpants and a random tee but still looking fine af

and you’d complain about it sometimes bc he’d want to go into the place to eat and you’re like

and he’d be like “yes, you look ethereal, now let’s go”  

he’d always hold your hand in the car  

and when he needed to use two hands on the wheel he’d literally grab onto your hard -0.4 seconds after his hand was free  

whenever you two would go driving together you’d always let jimin drive bc you knew he liked it and he didn’t get to do much of it during other times  

omg you’d try to be sly and snap a few pics of him bc goddamn, but he’d realise and pull the silliest faces just to make you laugh  

“yah, stop taking pictures, what are you? my personal paparazzi?” he’d tease  

song wise, i feel like it’s either really soft music with jimin or like…. hardcore suggestive music  

with soft music he’d be holding your hand and sing along quietly  

but with the suggestive music well…. he’d just wriggle his eyebrows at you and smirk bc HA ITS SO FUNNY ISNT IT

TAEHYUNG  

oooft this boy  

he’ll call you up randomly at the most ungodly of hours asking if you wanted to go for a drive  

you’d always say yes bc why would you say no???  

and so he’d pick you up and the two of you would just drive around the city  

soft jazz music in the background bc taehyung has pretty cool and eccentric taste  

and he’d just hum along  

which would quite literally put you to sleep sometimes  

and tae would just giggle bc wow you're so cute  

but at other times - like when the rest of the world is awake - it’d be lively music  

bc tae needs to wake up and so do you  

it’d be so funny bc tae would play english songs and he wouldnt know some of the words  

and he’d just start blabbering sounds that he thought sounded similar enough to the actual lyrics  

(if this aint me with kpop tho)  

and he’d just be such a great person to be in the car with  

sometimes it’d be quiet between the two of you bc just being with one another was enough  

or sometimes the two of you would just be laughing so hard at a story tae was telling  

or sometimes it’d be a bit of a deep, emotional convo about the past or things that tae or even you just need to get off your chests  

and you loved each and every one of those moments  

bc tae made everything fun  

even if you were both bawling your eyes out in a parking lot after getting a little carried away with your deep chats, he’d fail at cracking a joke and you’d both be a giggling, crying mess  

but tae still thought you were the prettiest thing, so don't you worry a bit xx  

JUNGKOOK  

alright this boy  

sometimes the two of you would spend more time arguing over who got to drive than actually sitting in the damn car  

usually it’d be settled with an arm wrestle or whoever simply got to the driver’s seat first  

you both have a few bumps and bruises bc of the second scenario  

it’d be funny sometimes to watch kook drive tho bc he’d get a little rusty after tour and he’d just sit there in the driver’s seat completely zoned out  

“kookie, you have to switch the ignition on, buddy. we’re losing daylight here.”  

but the both of you would have this set playlist and set songs where the both of you would have individual parts  

like you’d do duets together in the car  

sometimes rap, sometimes pop, sometimes ballads  

but y’all put your all in each and every song  and the both of you would sometimes make it a competition to see who could sing better 

jungkook would sing songs trot style lmao  

and sometimes you’ll be out of breath by the time you reach your destination  

but it’s all good  

you’d also spend a lot of time in the parking lots of fast food restaurants bc foooooddd

and you’d always scold jungkook bc he’d always buy too much food but still manage to scoff it all down  

“jeon jungkook, how the hell are we going to eat all of this?”  

lol within 10 minutes the food’s all gone sis, you both scoffed it all  

“i told you you’d eat it all”  

roasting each other all the time  

and then having to cheer up a butthurt jungkook bc he took it to heart just a lil bit

oh and sometimes you’d grab his hand while he was driving and he’d get  all startled  

and you’d laugh at him

so barbara was born n raised in san francisco, california to a solidly middle class family. her parents were divorced growing up, although they were friendly & got along well enough to be friends & co-parent barbie. she’d always been quite an idealist like Yes The World Is Good but when she was twenty, her dad had died due to a rogue heart attack that seemingly happened for no reason & it completely shattered barbara.

that’s when a local gang found her, at her ultimate low, & roped her into their business. she stayed w them for two years or so & at some point or another barbara started to realize that she didn’t think this business & way to make money was a good one. eventually, they starting cutting pay & barbara started to feel like she was bein manipulated. working w the gang kind of made her give up her optimism & is what truly formed her into the stone cold but somehow still elegant & captivating barbie she is today ! her idealistic attitude & never-ending optimism died with all of the shady shit that gang made her do.

then barbara was offered a job as an assassin for a powerful man doin some shady shit & she was unable to refuse even tho her first instinct was to turn it down – it offered great money & stability, & with the impression that she’d only be hurting people who deserved it, barbara shakily accepted the deal & left the gang !

she’s not pleased w the fact that she’s murdering ppl for a living, obviously, but she tries to make do with what she has & tells herself that the ppl she’s killing deserve it but !! messy !

personality-wise, barbara comes off as super intimidating at first n like she just doesn’t have feelings… super proper n always sitting upright n stiff as fuck… scares ppl away bc she seems like a robot at first

she's that kid who studies for the test like 3 weeks before it actually happens and has color coordinated highlighting and bullet journals.. she wants to be on top of everything, constantly – she doesn’t like feeling unorganized or like she’s falling apart ? i think it’s partially bc she tends to over perfect areas of her life like that, and like color coordinating her closet and making sure everything is tidy to make up for the Mess that is her secret career ??

one of the most annoying things ever is how perfect she seems on the surface ?? like, she likes everybody n is probably the type of person who rescues stray kittens from trees n sings as little birdies fly down & comb her hair or some shit but anyone close to barbie in real life knows she is a hardcore mess
