-Happy Ending- Bakugou Katsuki x Wife Fem!Reader
tags: Domestic, suggestive, fluff, established relationship, holiday
warnings: sexual touching, suggestive language, swearing, alcohol mentions. minors dni.
You forced your husband of 2 years Bakugou Katsuki to take a much needed break from hero work and to indulge in a getaway holiday on a remote Japanese island resort, which was favoured by pro hero's as well wealthy elites for its privacy from the general public.
Having made it to the island, you took note of Katsuki's continuous unease the entire trip. He couldn't find it in himself to relax. You had tried disabling his Internet access, offering him alcoholic drinks and taking advantage of the local hot springs. Nothing worked. Your husband was still physically and mentally tense....up until the penultimate day of your trip.
——————————————————————
"Katsuki, what's the matter? Why are you so tense?" you coo concerned, leaning over from behind his large muscular body.
"mmhm, I dunno, I guess I can't stop thinking bout hero work and what I need to get done when we get back home," Katsuki replied, shuffling back to make eye contact with you.
Stroking his defined jaw, you hum. you had always loved these domestic moments with Katsuki, which only really happened when you guys were together in bed, late at night like right now.
Katsuki moved to face you and pressed his face into your chest. "m sorry princess, I know how much you wanted me to just take a break but I fuckin can't" Katsuki mumbled while inching his hand up and down your exposed plush thighs.
"It's okay, handsome," you pause. "Is there anything I could do to help you?" you whispered, revealing in his touch.
Katsuki smirked against your sleep shirt and leaned up to quickly kiss your jaw. "Mmmm, gimmie, one of those heavenly massages, babe...please" He whimpered in your ear, causing you to blush.
"With a happy ending?" You tease already knowing the answer "tch obviously baby. " he rolled his eyes and gulped."If you're down?" ——————————————————————
"How does that feel, Suki?" You worked your soft fingers into his back muscles releasing tension and massaging away the knots "mmmhm fuckin amazinggg angel" Katsuki groaned.
Katsuki was rolled onto his back, arms resting under the pillows and stripped down to his boxers while you were positioned with your legs on either side of him, hovering over his god-like frame.
Katsuki was always adamant that your massages were 10 times no...100 times better than any spa could provide. Thus, he always begged for them when the hero work or leaning over his oversized desk doing paperwork casues a strain on his body.
Sitting a comfortable silence while you eased your husbands physical and mental tightness, with the occasional grunts and groans coming from Katsuki filling the room, you eventually had worked the entirety of his body, except where Katsuki had really wanted you to touch.
"All done handsome," you lent down to kiss your husbands neck while gently stroking his bicep.
Turning over to lie on his back, he tilted his head to look at you. "God, that was fuckin incredible baby...however I think you missed somewhere" he flashed a boyish grin your way while caressing his stupidly defined V line.
"Oh no, don't worry," you whisper salaciously, returning a smirk while reaching down to kneed his bulge lightly. "I didn't forget about your happy ending"
——————————————————————
The last two days of your trip went by well, and Katsuki allowed himself to fully relax by your side and take advantage of the time off while also treating you to your own happy endings ;).

Homophobia in the church is making me so distressed
I'm in the process of converting to the Orthodox church, and I was so happy, frankly joyful, about it. I felt like I was being accepted and that it wasn't an issue that I'm queer. Like I knew that they're not gonna be conducting gay weddings any time soon, but I thought that it wasn't an issue either. Yeah well, that was until I came across some material by one of the people who often teaches at the church. He's not a priest officially or anything, but he's not a lay person either. It's confusing, but it's besides the point anyway.
It was a video lecture about the Orthodox church's view on family. Kinda knew what it could/would contain before clicking on it, but foolishly I wanted to hope that maybe it was what it was gonna be.
It was kinda the standard stuff you expect to see in these things. Marriage is for man and woman, for starting up a family, blessed by God for starting a family. Being gay is giving into fleshly temptations blablablaa. You know the drill. He read some paper from a big synod about what the church fathers think about these new marriage laws. And also apparently the two options the church provides for people is marriage and being a monk/nun (I don't think that's true tho, irrespective of whether being queer is a sin or not, but anyway).
This kind a threw me into this whole loop, like is being gay sin or not??? What is our place in the church??? Are we even allowed to be, if the view of the church is so stern, that it's like celibacy or sin.
It didn't really help that it was the first week of Great Lent / Fast, and the church services were really about realizing your sinfullness and being remorseful. I just kept thinking about this 247, I couldn't sleep, I started to have these self harm thoughts and yeah. It got bad, and still is.
I contacted the priest I've talked to a few times before. He's the one I talked about this queer thing before, and he was like it's not a problem at all, but he did warn me that some people have a very black and white view of this. Well, he said that yeah, that person has a very very black and white view about this, and that the reality in the church is not so harsh. He said that we could talk about this more when I have confession, and I could also talk to the Bishop about, as he has a very open and loving heart, according to the priest.
This helped a tiny bit, but honestly I have had a knot in my stomach ever since. I think about this all the time, and I have trouble falling asleep. I get these self harm thoughts at times, but I think I have them under control. This sucks so bad tho
I've never understood why would God make us so loving, and then condemn it?? It makes no sense
#queer christian#lgbt christian#Lol not gonna tag this with any orthodox related tags just in case#tw homophobia#homophobia#homophobia tw#Suicide#Self-harm

Jeffrey Mishlove (New Thinking Allowed)
Heidi Jurka is author of 'The Making of a Psychic'. During the period from 1976 to 1979 she worked closely with parapsychologist Andrija Puharich on his "space kids" project. She was living in Puharich's house in August 1978 when the place was set on fire by an arsonist.
Here she provides many details concerning her work with Puharich, the "space kids" and "mindlink" projects, and the arson fire that put an end to this chapter in her life.

One of the most intriguing aspects of Gene Roddenberry’s creation of the Star Trek franchise was his relationship with a mysterious extraterrestrial group calling itself the Council of Nine that were being channeled by the psychic Phyllis Schlemmer in the 1970s. Roddenberry sat in on channeling sessions from 1974 to 1975, and participated in Q & A’s that were recorded in Schlemmer’s 1993 book, the Only Planet of Choice.
What lent credibility to the Council of Nine was that their existence was confirmed in the famous Law of One channeling sessions held from 1981 to 1984, which are widely regarded as the most authoritative channelings ever conducted due to the strict scientific protocols used by a retired applied physics professor, Don Elkins.
These historical events provide important context for Elena Danaan’s most recent contact experiences where she claims to have been taken to Jupiter’s moon, Ganymede, where she met with the Council of Nine, and was told why Rodenberry was chosen to prepare humanity for a Star Trek future.

A book popped through my letterbox recently entitled Memories of a Maverick by H.G.M. Hermans. The maverick in question was Andrija Puharich (1918-1995) and the author, ‘Bep’ Hermans was his second wife. Her book has prompted this tribute to a great and much misunderstood scientist of great vision, versatility and courage and a wonderful human being. But for him, nobody outside Israel would probably ever have heard of me, and it is no exaggeration to say that I owe my career and my success to him.

Let us destroy this Jesus.
"Jesus moved about within Galilee; he did not wish to travel in Judea, because the Jews were trying to kill him. But the Jewish feast of Tabernacles was near.
"But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, he himself also went up, not openly but as it were in secret.

"Some of the inhabitants of Jerusalem said, “Is he not the one they are trying to kill? And look, he is speaking openly and they say nothing to him. Could the authorities have realized that he is the Christ? But we know where he is from. When the Christ comes, no one will know where he is from.”
"So Jesus cried out in the temple area as he was teaching and said, “You know me and also know where I am from. Yet I did not come on my own, but the one who sent me, whom you do not know, is true. I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me.”

"So they tried to arrest him, but no one laid a hand upon him, because his hour had not yet come." (John7:1-2, 10, 25-30).
Friday 24th March 2023 in the 4th week of Lent. Why did the enemies of Christ tried to arrest Him during the Jewish festival of Tabernacles? The answer is laid out clearly in the first Reading from the 2nd Chapter of Wisdom:
"The wicked said among themselves, thinking not aright: “Let us beset the just one, because he is obnoxious to us; he sets himself against our doings, Reproaches us for transgressions of the law and charges us with violations of our training. He professes to have knowledge of God and styles himself a child of the Lord." ( CF Wisdom2:1a, 12-22).
The enemies of Jesus could not stand His probity and integrity. They considered Him a reproach to their transgressions. Like the high court judge who takes bribes, their conscience would give them no peace especially when they come in contact with Jesus. Therefore, Jesus must die. But Jesus' antagonists were ignorant of the prophecies about the Messiah. They said: "For if the just one be the son of God, he will defend him and deliver him from the hand of his foes."

In the fullness of time, Jesus would hand over Himself to be glorified on the Cross. For the Cross is the appointed means of the glorification of the Son of Man. Before that hour, nothing can happen to Jesus.
As followers of Jesus, our lives are hemmed in by God's loving and powerful Providence. If we make the Kingdom of God and His holiness the top priority of our life. God's promise of provision and protection for us is unbreakable.

New Updates to the UK Mortgage Market in 2023: What You Need to Know
The UK mortgage market is constantly evolving, with new economic factors shaping the landscape. As of the start of 2023, there are several notable updates to the UK mortgage market that potential buyers and homeowners should be aware of.
Interview with Mortgage Advisor Miriam Nawagamuwa CeMAP
One of the biggest changes is the increase in interest rates. The Bank of England has been hiking its base rate since 2021 to 4%, the highest in 14 years. Mortgage rates have risen substantially, making borrowing more expensive. However, there are still competitive rates available for those with good credit scores and larger deposits or equity.
In addition to interest rates, the UK mortgage market is also seeing increased competition among lenders. More and more online-only banks are entering the market, offering lower rates and faster application processes. This is good news for borrowers, given them more options to choose from when shopping for the best mortgage deal.
Stricter lending and affordability checks have been introduced following the Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) lending review in 2022. Mortgage lenders now consider borrowers' regular expenditure and other financial commitments when assessing affordability. In the past, banks lent based on a simple multiple of salary. The tough new criteria means that some borrowers may find it harder to secure a mortgage or re-mortgage, but ensures that lenders are lending responsibly and not overstretching borrowers.
The lending ‘stress test’ bar has also been raised on buy-to-let mortgages, pushing more investors into higher yielding HMO’s, holiday lets and serviced accommodation.
Regulators do not want a repeat of the 2008 financial crisis largely caused by banks lending recklessly to borrowers with a poor credit history.
Finally, the government's Help to Buy scheme will end in March 2023. This scheme allowed first-time buyers to purchase a home with just a 5% deposit, with the government providing a loan of up to 20% (or 40% in London) of the property value.
Overall, the UK mortgage market is a complex and ever-changing landscape. It's essential for potential buyers and homeowners to keep up to date with the latest developments and to seek professional advice before making any significant financial decisions. With the right knowledge and support, it's possible to navigate the market and secure a mortgage that meets your needs and financial goals.

Editorial Photographer in Greenville, SC: Creating Stunning Images in Any Weather
How Flexibility, Adaptability, and Creativity Led to a Memorable Photoshoot with Model Anisa in Front of the Courthouse
As an Editorial Photographer based in Greenville, South Carolina, I have had the pleasure of working on many photoshoots in different environments and with various people. However, my recent photoshoot with model Anisa in Greenville, South Carolina, in front of the courthouse, was a fun, creative photoshoot for me. This shoot was a unique opportunity to push my creative boundaries and experiment with different angles, lighting, and the unexpected challenge of an overcast and rainy day.
Overcoming the Challenges of an Overcast and Rainy Day
The shoot began with a bit of a challenge, as the weather forecast called for rain throughout the day. However, as a photographer, I always try to see the positive in every situation and use it to my advantage. In this case, the overcast sky provided a soft and diffused natural light that lent itself perfectly to capturing the moody and dramatic look that I was going for.
Utilizing the Unique Architecture of the Greenville Courthouse
One of the most critical aspects of this shoot was the location. The courthouse in Greenville is a stunning piece of architecture, and I knew it would provide the perfect backdrop for the shoot. I utilized the building's unique angles and lines to create a sense of depth and movement in the photos. I also played with the reflections of the rain-soaked pavement to add an extra layer of interest to the images.
The Importance of Lighting in Capturing the Mood of the Photoshoot
Another key element of this shoot was the lighting. Despite the overcast weather, I knew proper lighting would be essential in bringing out the best in the photos. I used a combination of natural light and studio strobes to create a sense of drama and intensity.
Working with a Talented Model: Anisa's Role in the Photoshoot
Finally, the model, Anisa, was a pleasure to work with. Her striking features and ability to convey a range of emotions made her the perfect subject for this shoot. I also appreciated her willingness to experiment and try different poses and expressions.
This Greenville, South Carolina, editorial-style photoshoot was a unique opportunity to push my creative boundaries and experiment with different angles, lighting, and an unexpected overcast and rainy day. Despite the weather, I created a set of images that I am genuinely proud of, and I look forward to working on similar projects in the future.
Creating Long-term Partnerships with Creative Agencies and Directors
I understand the importance of flexibility, adaptability, and creativity in bringing a creative vision to life. The photoshoot with Anisa in front of the courthouse in Greenville, SC, exemplifies my ability to work with unexpected challenges and turn them into opportunities to create stunning images.
I always seek to develop long-term partnerships with creative agencies, creative directors, photo directors, and art buyers. Working together can create genuinely impactful and memorable images that stand out in today's crowded visual landscape.
If you are in need of a photographer who can bring a unique perspective and an eye for detail to your projects, I would love to connect with you. My portfolio is here www.jackrobertphoto.com, and contact information can be found at [email protected]. I look forward to discussing how we can collaborate and bring your vision to life.

Vice Dorm Leaders getting along with Pokémon:
It didn’t take long for the vice dorm leaders to get involved with the Pokemon too. The shenanigans that happened with them are... interesting to say the least.
Trey + Slurpuff
“The Unbirthday Party was a success thanks to this little guy’s sense of smell… Though I should expect to make a large portion for it, the number of sweets it ate was shocking for everyone!”
Trey was a bit skeptical when Phoebe lent him Slurpuff and told him that chefs would use them to sniff out the freshest ingredients but if they say so then it must be worth a try.
Needless to say, he was pleasantly surprised to see the cake thing nudge him to the best ingredients to use for his sweets. He rewarded Slurpuff with a spoon covered in frosting or batter. The Pokémon mostly stayed out of his way and only has to bring him some tools or supplies.
When he presented the sweets he made, everyone including Riddle were almost knocked into a food coma with how good it was. Even Trey was lost in the trance of the flavor, but he was snapped out of it when he spotted Slurpuff eating almost half of the buffet table, he rushed to it and told it to ask him for more sweets to prevent any problems.
Ruggie + Crobat
“That Phoebe kid feeds you this? Aww man! I’m so jealous, now I wish I was a Pokémon!”
That one-time Ruggie came across Crobat was when he passed by Ramshackle to see a large bat creature with four wings eating from a large bowl filled with berries, Poke puffs and even poffins. The amount it ate distracted him from his usual task and he only snapped out of it when Crobat made eye-contact with him.
Crobat wasn’t sure why a stranger was here but it assumed it wanted food so Crobat nudged a Poke puff towards Ruggie’s direction before going back to chow down. Ruggie didn’t plan on asking it for any food, he was just curious but since it offered, who is he to decline? Picking up the Poke puff and taking a bite, he immediately devours it till there’s nothing left. That was the tastiest pastry he has had; they were even better than the ones in the cafeteria.
He hears Phoebe call out to Crobat and he took this time to scram before he was found. That kid pampers their creatures like royalty, he admits that he once had the thought that wishes that he was a Pokémon too. Ruggie now sneaks to go to Ramshackle and Crobat sneaks him a portion of its food, Ruggie repays it by offering some to it as well. They just formed this unspoken lunch trade. The one time Phoebe made malasadas for Crobat, Ruggie was in heaven lemme tell you.
Phoebe has no idea about this, this was just a secret thing between Crobat and Ruggie. One time Phoebe was with Crobat in the field and it spots Ruggie, Crobat immediately goes to him and flies around him. Phoebe assumed that Crobat took a liking to Ruggie because it probably sensed that he’s a foodie. Oh, if only she knew.
Jade + Lapras
“Such kind yet protective eyes you have~ I’m far from trustworthy yet you nuzzle against me like a seal, this is quite interesting”
Phoebe asked Azul if she can be allowed to have her water Pokémon swim about in Octavinelle. The lake is much too small for the larger ones. Azul gave her permission but in exchange she has to work part-time at the lounge, Azul is capitalizing as usual. The mention of Pokémon being at Octavinelle brought more customers to the lounge, the one that got the most attention was Lapras.
It was very friendly and even paused to look inside the lounge from the windows. Phoebe was not surprised that Lapras was friendly, what she didn’t expect was that it got attached to Jade for some reason. She would have thought it was Sharpedo or even Eelektross who would get along with the cunning vice dorm leader. But instead, Lapras is swimming happily in circles wanting Jade’s attention.
Jade, of course, finds the Pokémon endearing and would always take his time to pet it whenever he’s on break. Even offering Lapras a small treat or two, Lapras is enjoying it. There was a rare occasion that Jade swam with Lapras in his eel form, at times he swims alongside Lapras or have it chase him through the water, other times he just sleeps on Lapras’ back as it swam.
Jamil + Serperior
“Quite the proud one you are, at least you’re more tolerable than Kalim…”
Kalim promised a favor without consulting Jamil again, this time it was to look after some of her Pokémon. Kalim got caught up in the excitement of having to get close with those strange creatures that he didn’t think that it could be troublesome.
Jamil stopped in his tracks at the sight of Kalim with a large green snake behind him. Boy did he get quite the scolding from Jamil, but what can he do now that Kalim as already offered? He just decides to “help” him take care of Serperior. Thankfully, Phoebe provided a list of ingredients that Serperior likes, the list was as long as an A4 paper but at least Jamil has his options cut out for him. He doesn’t have to guess and waste any food.
Serperior mostly kept to itself and wanders around the dorm, inspecting its surroundings. Kalim tries to hug it but it just wraps its body around him and places him a few feet away before slithering off. Serperior will feel terrible if he smacks the sunshine boy away, so it places him at a good distance.
Jamil often sees it staring at him, its sharp eyes resemble his own. He never expected to have it get attached to him in a rather proud way. Everywhere Jamil goes, Serperior follows at a distance and there were rare moments it coils near his bedroom door, and Jamil walks out one morning only to fall into its coils. This strange behavior was suspicious at first but then Jamil learned to get used to it. Serperior is a curious one but then he thinks its more tolerable than Kalim.
Speaking of Kalim, Serperior sensed that most of Jamil’s stress comes from Kalim being a goofball that he is, so it catches Kalim and puts him in a coil hold when he’s about to do something reckless.
Rook + Oricorio
“Oh my! Such grace and beauty you possess to dance with excellent skills! Wait, you mean to tell me it had four forms? I would like to see it, please show me”
He spotted the dancing bird Pokémon in the field when they were having a PE class. Oricorio was in its Pom-Pom form and doing a cheer dance to motivate Grimm to fly better. He couldn’t help but approach Phoebe and ask her about Oricorio.
Needless to say, he was very interested. A creature that has four different forms that represents a different environment? It was like a fox having more than just a winter coat. He asked to see its other forms, it would be tiring to have it change forms constantly so Phoebe just brings out Rotom to show him the pictures of the Oricorio forms. Rook admired the pictures and each one gave off a different kind of beauty.
Oricorio, being a simp for pretty boys, took a liking to Rook. He was just so charming, Oricorio does its happy dance and follows him whenever it sees him. Phoebe once asked him if he can keep Oricorio company for a few days, he accepts the offer and he brings it to Pomefiore. Oricorio also liked Vil and Epel due to how charming their looks are, Vil is fine with it as long as it isn’t a troublemaker while Epel is kind of bummed out when he thinks it likes him because of his fragile looks.
The moment Rook was shown its changed forms in person, he is taking out his camera and is taking burst shots from all sorts of angles and lighting. Out of all the four forms Oricorio has, he loves its Baile form the most, the way it dances with embers around it in a display of passion and power. He looks forward to Phoebe asking him to look after Oricorio again.
Ortho + Emolga & Pachirisu
“Hey! That tickles, big brother you should try and pet them! They’re like those plushies you sometimes order in your room. Isn’t it like having your favorite plushy as a pet?”
Emolga and Pachirisu are both cheeky Pokémon and a duo for trouble. Emolga and Pachirisu were seen making student’s hair go static and stick out with small electric waves.
Ortho spotted the two behind some bushes and immediately approaches them, this is the first time Emolga and Pachirisu were caught off guard and startled. Their electric attacks don’t do much to Ortho due to his robotic circuits, if anything he considers it as some form of tickling.
Ortho thought how cute they looked and they resemble plush toys in his brother’s room. Emolga and Pachirisu was weirded out by Ortho at first but his cheerfulness was infectious and it didn’t take long for them to treat him as part of their group. Whenever Ortho passes by, the two would pounce on him and swing from his arms and legs, Ortho likes this game, he finds it useful to use his scanner to see where they might pop out next.
One time, he took them to see his brother and they made his hair stick out. He was startled but Ortho found it amusing, he got to see what would his hair look like if it stuck out. Emolga and Pachirisu still do their pranks but its less due to them wanting to find Ortho first.
Lilia + Dragapult
“A prankster and yet you dote on the little ones on your horns? We might be cousins from a distant world, fufu~ Let’s go scare Sebek some more!”
Dragapult pranks Sebek a lot, poor boy gets it from almost a lot of Pokémon. It once shot a Dreepy in his shirt causing him to squirm and try to get it out, he looked like he was doing a crazy monkey dance. Lilia appreciates this little prankster and he would join it in tormenting other students but mostly Sebek because his reactions were very amusing to watch. The two even went and started a pranking competition where they tally their number of pranked students for the whole month.
Lilia was allowed to play and hold the small Dreepy that reside in Dragapult’s horns. He melted at the sight of the little cuties playfully tussling his hair, which gave him an idea to mimic Dragapult’s horns(?) With an easy hair growth potion and a LOT of hairspray, he came to school with his hair in Dragapult’s style.
The sight alone in Diasomnia sent everyone, including Malleus into a stunned silence, Dragapult added fuel to the flame by letting the Dreepy reside in his hair for the rest of the day. Crowley saw Lilia and mumbled how the trends have gotten crazier every day. Cater took pictures and he laughed at the sight because it was so outlandish. Kalim was confused but precious boy still appreciated his hairstyle nonetheless. The perfect chaotic duo.

50 Types of Kissing Writing Prompts: #36 - Starting with bunny kisses before moving on to soft kisses.
This got away from me.
~
“Ask me again.”
“Jon, you’ve practised these questions about 20 times just on the way over. I don’t think-”
“Just ask me again.” A beat. “Please.”
Martin let out a lengthy sigh, the kind that came from deep in his belly. It echoed down the corridors of the school hall alongside their heels clicking on the vinyl floor. “Right. Okay, so, how would you describe your teaching philosophy?”
Jon took a deep breath, chest puffing up. “My teaching philosophy is that all children are unique and deserve to have a stimulating educational atmosphere. I want to provide a safe environment where students are encouraged to share their thoughts and take risks.”
Martin smiled, trying not to giggle, but Jon’s voice inflected the exact same way every time he’d say “risks”- a sort of huffy pitch. It was hard not to be amused. “Very good.”
“Ask me the question about resolving conflicts in the classroom.”
“How do you intend to resolve conflicts in the classroom?”
“I would isolate the nature of the conflict in question and strategise accordingly. Compromise is the ideal resolution but in the event one cannot be reached, I will contact a higher authority than myself to mediate and help find a solution.”
“Perfect.”
“You don’t think it makes me look weak-willed?” Jon asked, brows furrowed with distress. “The part about contacting another authority figure? What if they want me to be able to handle the problem by myself?”
“I think it’s fine. You’re new. Shows you won’t let your ego get in the way when you need help.”
Jon let out a low breath, nodding slowly. His chest collapsed until he was nearly hunched over, and he tugged frantically at the strap of his briefcase. Martin had lent him that briefcase since it matched his nice navy blue jacket- he also figured it would help Jon feel more professional.
Martin wanted to say as much, lavish Jon in compliments on how scholarly and refined he looked, but every step they took closer to the school’s administrative office seemed to wound him up tighter and tighter until that briefcase strap threatened to fall apart. If Martin said Jon looked good now, Jon would just argue with him, citing the scuff in his shoes he hadn’t managed to buff out, or quadruple-guess the way he’d tied up his hair or something. The last thing Martin wanted to do was make Jon self-conscious; he’d just have to save all his gushing and lavishing for after the interview.
Martin’s restraint didn’t seem to matter, though, as, without warning, Jon stopped dead in the middle of the hall, digging into the recesses of his case. “I-I should practice the lesson plan one more time, the entire lecture phase is-”
“Jon.” Martin clasped his hands on Jon’s shoulders and turned him around. Jon stared up at him, eyes owlish and glossy with muted panic. “Please. Relax. It’s a part-time home economics class, not tenure for university English lit. You’re funny and charismatic and intelligent. They’re going to be begging you to take the job. The nice lady on the phone said as much.”
“I would appreciate it if you didn’t make promises you have no possible way of keeping,” Jon said, a sliver of ice snaking through his words. Martin lifted a pointed brow, and a dark stain flushed Jon’s face. He looked away. “No, I … Sorry. I don’t mean to snap.”
“It’s okay to be nervous.”
“It’s not that, it’s …” Jon sighed, shoulders sagging. “I just want this to work. I … need this to work.”
Martin tilted his head. This wasn’t the same frantic energy Jon had been carrying with him since he’d gotten off the phone with Principal Williams last week. This was something heavier. More sombre.
“Can you tell me why?”
“It’s silly.”
“Maybe.” Martin shrugged. “Most things are.”
Jon still wouldn’t meet his eyes, staring down at their warped reflections in the floor. Martin waited, rubbing his thumbs over the jut of Jon’s shoulders.
“I just …” Jon started, then paused to breathe. “I don’t know whether or not I can still … function out here. Outside of the Institute. It’s been so long and … what if I just … can’t?” His voice lowered to a dull murmur. “What if I can’t make the adjustment?”
Humming, Martin stroked his hands up and down the length of Jon’s arms. He pressed a kiss to Jon’s forehead. “I don’t think that’s silly.”
Jon sighed through his nose, tickling Martin’s collarbone. Slowly, Martin pulled away.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Of course.”
“Okay, so. Let’s pretend you don’t get the job. Which won’t happen,” he said quickly when Jon’s head snapped up. “You are absolutely getting this job. But let’s just pretend you don’t. What do you think will happen after that?”
Jon’s brow furrowed with quiet confusion. His mouth flapped for a long while before, softly, “I … don’t understand?”
“Here’s what I think will happen,” Martin said, cupping Jon’s face between his hands. “We’ll go home. We’ll order a pizza, half cheese half-Mediterranean. We’ll flip on the TV and finish that nature documentary series. We can polish off that bottle of wine and I’ll rub your feet.” Martin leaned in close enough to press his lips to the bridge of Jon’s nose. “And then we’ll try something else. I actually think that animal hospital nearby is hiring.” Martin smoothed a thumb over his cheekbone. “You’d make a really cute vet tech.”
Jon’s lips twitched, eyes brimming with some complicated emotion. Martin smiled, holding his gaze until Jon turned away, face warming again.
“It’d suck if you didn’t get this job,” Martin said. “You’d be fantastic at it and they’d be stupid to turn you away. But, whatever happens, you’ll be fine. We will be fine.”
Silent, Jon stared somewhere between Martin’s chest and his neck. Then, he swayed forward, leaning into Martin’s sturdy weight, and Martin wrapped his arms around him, pressing his face into prim, professionally styled hair. They stood like that for a long while, breathing each other in. Good thing Jon had them show up about a half-hour early for the interview, just in case.
When they parted, Jon opened his eyes again, calm and bright.
“We could also get killed by a rogue satellite,” he murmured. Martin’s eyes widened. “Just, you know, as a worst possible thing that could happen. Rogue satellite. Right on our heads.”
Martin snorted. “I don’t think I phrased it quite like that, but, yes, I suppose we should consider that a possibility.”
Jon took a deep breath, held it, and let it out slowly, just as Martin taught him. He rolled out his neck, cleared his throat, and tilted his head up. “Alright. Kiss me.”
Martin blinked. “Um. What?”
“Kiss me.” A beat. “For luck. Obviously.”
“Oh. Obviously.” Martin tried to smother his twitching smile. “I didn't realise we'd started doing that."
“Yes.” His eyes became pleading. “Please?”
Martin rolled his eyes, but kissed him, a chaste pressing of their lips. Jon’s eyes had slid shut and he took another deep breath.
“One more?”
Martin obliged. Jon’s eyes remained closed, his chin still tilted up. Martin provided another one without prompting, and then one more, for good measure, soft and indulgent. They were rubbing away at Jon's lip balm, but Martin's lips had been feeling a little dry anyway. The tension bled from Jon’s shoulders, and Martin parted with a breathy sigh.
“That’s all your lucky kisses for the year,” Martin said, earning himself a chuckle. “Spend it wisely.”
A cough drew their attention. An older woman stood idle by one of the classrooms. Through both of their embarrassed spluttering, Martin managed to note her and Jon had tied their hair in similar fashions.
Oh yeah. Jon was going to fit right in.
The woman stepped forward. “Mr. Sims, I presume?”
“I- uh, y-yes, ma’am.” Jon’s face was burning but the woman smiled.
“Glad you could make it. Mrs. Williams seemed really impressed with you after your phone call. Shall I walk you to her office?”
Jon nodded, squeezing Martin’s hand hard enough to break it off and take it with him. “Yes, ma’am.”
“Oh, none of this ma’am stuff. We’re going to be coworkers, yeah?" She held out her hand. "You can call me Janice. I teach maths.”
“Yes, m- Yes, Janice. It’s a pleasure to meet you." Jon accepted her hand. "Um, you can call me Jon.”
After their quick handshake, she indicated towards the hallway. Jon nodded and looked over to Martin. “I, uh … guess I’ll meet you by the car?”
“Meet you there.” Martin gave his hand one more squeeze. “Good luck.”
Jon smiled, a delicate, fluttering thing, before he slid his hand out of Martin’s and allowed Janice to lead them down the hallway.
“So, you’re from London, yeah?” she asked. “Grow up there?”
“No, I’m from Bournemouth. I moved to London after I graduated uni.”
“Oh, really? I think I’ve got a cousin who lives by that area. Always wish I’d have lived somewhere more coastal.” She turned to him, her teeth pearly white. “I have to say, we’re all a little curious about you. Don’t have many city-people here. We’re really excited to have you onboard.”
“Oh.” Even from this distance, Martin could see the way Jon’s face flushed. “I … I see.”
“I’m sure the others will want to ask you all sorts of questions, but don’t let that put you off, the staff here is as sweet as can be. They’ll get used to you soon enough.”
Jon glanced over his shoulder back at Martin, looking fit to burst. Martin waved, sure that his own expression was as sappy and affectionate as could be.
Yeah.
They’re going to be just fine.

All The Things She Said
Pairing: Lana Winters x Reader
Part | 1 2
Thank you for all the love! Requests are open :D
Lana dropped her head in her hand and rubbed her temples and you felt your face go red. Your group of friends on the other side of the room, who you thankfully had not informed of the night before, laughed at your embarrassment.
Attempting to diffuse the tension, Lana approached the three of you with textbooks. "Take these," she said, her glare went straight through you. "And please don't be late to my class again."
You could feel the skin under your necklace burn as your hands made contact while she passed you the books. You could tell she felt something too when her face flinched slightly. There was something different about her.
She was wearing her wedding ring.
Lana noticed that you had seen it. "Stay behind after class."
The three of you took your seat at the back row, and you did your best not to look up during as much of the lesson as possible, resorting to taking notes from the book. Your face burned with the anticipation of Lana's confrontation. You had borderline lied to her about something that could risk the integrity of her career and her reputation. The guilt almost sickened you to your stomach and your friends could sense it.
"You gotta keep calm," Emmett whispered to you, knocking his knee against yours to tell you to stop bounding your leg. You peaked up for the first time in the lesson while the others were taking notes. Lana averted her glance as soon as you did so. "She's been looking up at you every time she gets a moment."
You rubbed your forehead with two fingers and peeled your necklace from under your shirt. It was white-hot. "What the fuck?" You muttered to yourself, getting Emmett's attention.
"I didn't know you had one of those," he said. "Maybe it means that its pair is close by-" Emmett stopped himself and looked from you to Lana.
The bell rang before he had a chance to finish himself. "We'll wait for you in the cafeteria."
The class filed themselves out as you remained in your chair, Heather gave you a reassuring squeeze on the shoulder as she left.
You watched Lana smile at your classmates as she crossed the room back to her desk. The suspense was killing you.
Finally, Lana stood up again and sat on her desk, folding her arms, and staring right at you. "Come over here, please," she said, darting her eyes to the floor.
You followed her instructions and sat at the desk opposite.
Lana played with a pendant on her necklace as she seemed to gather the words to use.
"Do you understand the severity of what happened last night, and why we can't go through with tonight's plan?" she asked after a moment of silence, her whiskey brown eyes finally meeting yours.
"Because you're married?" You replied, slightly meaner than you intended to sound. Lana's eyes look inflicted by your comment.
She took off her ring and laid it on the desk. "You lied to me. You told me you weren't younger than twenty-one and Jesus Christ, why did I want to believe you so bad?" She put her head in her hand and for a moment you were unaware if she was talking to you or herself.
"No, I didn't," you replied. Technically. "I told you that a lot of people think I'm younger than twenty-one. I'm eighteen."
Lana took a minute to regain her composure. "Y/N, I think you're an amazing, beautiful, incredibly funny and smart young lady and I would love to have gone on with whatever we had started. Though, at the end I am still your teacher and you're still my student. That's like fifty shades of illegal," she said. Her eyes were trained on the ground now as she straightened her back.
Your necklace was beginning to burn your fingers now and you could see Lana was rubbing her chest. You stepped closer to her as she backed against her table and put your hand under hers.
But I thought she didn't wear her necklace?
Her necklace was hot too. You pulled her necklace from under her blouse and inspected it. In that moment you finally felt like you were able to one-up even Aria Montgomery.
"Does that mean-?"
You rubbed your temples. "Good golly, this is going to cause the worst migraine ever."
Lana looked visibly stressed too. "Surely there's a mistake, right?"
You stared at her hard. "Soul necklaces have never made a mistake in the history of their goddamn existence, Lana!"
The teacher groaned. "The only reason I put this on was because last night you reminded me that I actually had one and I wanted to throw it in my husband's face that there's someone else better than him-" she stopped herself in her rant to inhale hard "-even though that's not too fucking hard. I did not. In a million years. Put this on to match with one of my students."
"How about the chick who tried to pick you up in a bar, then. Would you have wanted to match with her?"
Lana looked like she was about to strangle you, and you weren't necessarily opposed to that. "Y/N, please for the love of God don't make this harder for me. I've been thinking about you since I got home last night." You could see tears in her eyes and a pang of guilt hit you hard.
You walked to the door, peered down the hallway to make sure it was empty and closed the door.
"Lana-"
"Ms. Winters."
"Way to remove the power dynamic," you muttered sarcastically. Lana tried to hide a blushing smile. "I have six months left. I can pretend you're just my teacher and you can pretend I'm just your favourite student of all time."
Lana bit her lip. "You're still flirting with me? You looked like a deer in headlights when you walked in."
You felt your face glow red in embarrassment. "I thought I was gonna pass out."
That much was true. When it had finally hit you that Lana was your new French teacher you had felt a weight on your heart like never before.
"So, sixth months of pretending. I think I can cope with that," Lana said. She was less stressed now. Well, from whatever relief the conversation had provided.
You nodded and peeked through the window by the door. The hallway was clear. You turned back to face Lana and took a step towards her. The teacher could sense her apprehension as you laid a hand on her cheek and pulled her close to you.
You looked up into her eyes and waited for her cue. She nodded, her eyes locked with yours before they shut and lent in. Her lips pressed against yours and her hands curled in your hair as you worked to deepen the kiss. Lana backed right onto the desk until she was sitting right on it, one of your hands reached down to grab her thigh and pull it to your waist.
Her hands dropped to the back of your neck. You were bewildered. How could something be so wrong yet feel so right? This went against almost every moral code you had with your teachers. You were a model student and now here you between a teacher's legs.
Lana pulled away abruptly. "I don't want to go further than kissing while you're still in school," she whispered.
You smirked. "Please. You didn't even plan on kissing back, did you?"
Lana shook her head as she shuffled off the desk and grabbed her bag from the chair.
You had never seen anyone jump as high as Lana Winters did when Emmett banged the door open.
"Mother of Jesus in a tank. Can't either of you be gentle with the doors in this school?!" She exclaimed. "You'll give me a heart attack one of these days."
"Sorry, Ms. Winters," Emmett muttered. He stepped into the room and shut the door behind him. "I won't stay for long. I also just wanted to say that you don't need to worry about Heather and I saying anything, because we won't. But Heather is also getting impatient and wants to know if you need a lift home."
You shook your head. "I'll be a few minutes. I can walk home but tell her I said thank you."
Emmett gave a thumbs up and left.
"It's raining cats and dogs outside," Lana said. "You'll catch your death of cold."
"I'm a fast runner, Ms. Winters."
Lana shook her head. "What kind of person would I be if I let my favourite student walk home in the rain, hm?" She held up her keys and headed to the door.
You walked behind her while she informed a superior that she was driving you home. Child protection policy and whatnot. Ironic.
Lana sat in the driver's seat and blasted the heat.
"What's your address?" She asked, booting up the sat nav. You recalled her saying that she had only recently moved to this city.
"Sixteen Eli Boulevard," you replied, checking a message from your mom. She was making Carbonara for dinner.
Lana stopped. "You're kidding, right?"
"Are you being serious right now? Why would I kid about where I live?"
Lana pursed her lips and laughed. "I just moved into that neighbourhood yesterday."
Well, that was convenient.
"So, I can be expecting a lot more car rides with you, Ms. Winters?"
Lana cocked her head at you and frowned as she began driving. "Can we establish some ground rules? Like no flirting on school grounds? We can't afford for that to happen again."
You nodded in slightly disappointed agreement.
"In school, at least."
You paused, turning to take in the view of the mountain that sat beside your small town. You never seized to be amazed at that view.
“Can we reschedule our date? I know a place outside of town,” you say. Lana squeezed her eyebrows hard in thought.
“How far out of town are we talking?”
“An hour or so on the train. Give or take.”
Lana stopped the car outside your drive. “I can do Saturday.”
Perfect.
You heaved yourself out of her car and gave her hand a squeeze. It was the closest thing to a kiss you could manage.
What on Earth am I doing to myself.

Pomegranate, Chapter 17: Quiet Earth, Part I.
John Seed x Female Deputy
Rating: Explicit.
Read it on Ao3 here!
Notes: Thanks all who have been keeping up with this! I'm so consistently floored by the amount of content creators we have in this fandom corner and the sheer level of workmanship that exists here. This is the first chapter of Pom that I'll be posting to tumblr, and I'm hoping to draw up a little sketch with each update. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them! Big thank you to @shallow-gravy and @consumedkings as always for dealing with my stupidity and being a pair of top-notch angels, and also just like, everybody who takes time out of their day to engage with this? Y'all really sticking with ultra slow burn and I swear after some wicked angst in the next couple of chapters I'll finally be able to throw some well-deserved smut at you. WARNINGS: Forced conversion, descriptions of dissociation and derealisation, explicit language, sexual content, depictions of violence, guns, blood and gore. Canon-typical debauchery.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
“Don’t touch him!”
Mary May lunged with enough force for John to feel the wake of air sweep through him, even with how quickly she was snatched up and yanked back to her place. The soles of her tennis shoes squeaked against the floor as she was dragged to the far side of the room, unable to be trusted with providing audience to Nick’s Atonement.
A shame, really. It was nicer as a shared experience.
The Baptist rolled his jaw, off-setting some of the tension arising from the shrieks that the blonde flung at the back of his head. He righted himself, taking the tattoo gun from one of his faithful with a gracious nod, and turned his attention down to the pilot currently pinned to the floor. Without a word, he sank to his knees, straddling the man, keeping silent as he could just to listen out for any change in his demeanour. Fear. Grief. Defeat. Acceptance. A sign to prove his readiness.
Nick didn't flinch, breathing hard through his nose and watching with hateful eyes. John hovered an indicating hand over the man’s bare chest, bruised from the fight he’d put up against his capture, mentally mapping out placement. Then, he came in with the needle, beginning with the stem of an ’E’, right in the centre of Nick's sternum.
The pilot snorted, masking discomfort with indifference, turning a wince into a scoff. “Figures you don’t use stencils. I ain’t got a hope in hell of this turning out good, do I.”
That casual old Nick attitude. He missed it.
If only he’d let him do this 5 years ago. He wouldn’t have had to miss it.
John feigned offense. “Oh I’m sorry, Nick. Did you want me to do the rest in cursive? Add a feather? Infinity symbol?”
“For fuck’s sake-”
“Talk about tonal dissonance. It’s not meant to be pretty.” He grumbled. “Might’ve gotten a little more practice if you’d-”
A yell from the rear entryway pulled John’s hand away from his canvas. More squeaking. More interruption. Jerome Jeffries getting hauled into the church, held under each arm by the pair of Chosen that John had sent looking for him.
The Baptist cast a look over his shoulder at them, content with the sight of Jerome adequately beaten and bloodied. “Ahh. Pastor. Try to run and hide? It’s no wonder your flock ran astray with a shepherd so quick to leave them to the wolves.”
Jerome ignored him. No reply. No eye contact. A crime John noted to make worthy of capital punishment in the New Eden. The Pastor was set down beside Mary May, who immediately began seeing to his injuries. Murmuring bubbled between them.
“Did you reach them?” The bartender asked. Must’ve been a negative, because the next thing she did was curse.
“The Deputy was calling when they caught me.”
And if she had half the spine to come and broker an agreement for her friends, she’d be inbound.
“Could you at least gag them? I’m trying to concentrate.” John ordered no one in particular, earning another scoff from Nick. “The faster we work, the less we’ll have to get through once she arrives. The quicker we can be out of this heinous town.”
“Stay away from her, shitbag.” The pilot ground out, this time unable to save face when John retaliated, pressing the gun just a little too hard, digging down through an extra few layers of skin.
“Nick Rye, you’re a married man.” John tutted playfully, resuming his work. “That sin of yours again. Take, take, take. Didn’t think the Deputy to be your type. Wouldn’t say you’re hers, either.”
Nick looked downright disgusted at the prospect. Less concerned for the state of his wife - which meant she'd been a likely getaway. “Always been so fuckin’ jealous.”
“Come again?”
“Think folks are stupid? Think I don’t know you?”
“You don't know me, period.” John bit back, skin on the back of his neck flushing between boiling and freezing.
“Anyone else givin’ you this much trouble’d be long dead by now. That shit on the radio? Reckon you’d be talkin’ like that if your family could hear you across the river?” Nick continued, averting his gaze when John shot him a particularly poisonous look. He didn’t, however, find it necessary to respond to such a veiled accusation.
At least until -
“Everybody knows you wanna stick it to her, John-”
As if he’d been awaiting the chance, John’s free hand shot to Nick’s jaw, aching in protest when he squeezed, not stopping until he could feel the man’s molars beneath his flesh. “That’s about enough from you.” He crooned.
John had his desires, yes. He’d accepted that much. Had he not been sworn to celibacy, he might have jumped at the opportunity to respond to Cora’s advances last night. That said, she was still an outsider, and while her Atonement made the prospect less dicey, he couldn’t consciously consider laying with the woman in real life.
No matter how torturous it had become to gear his thoughts toward anything else.
He could be content with just her company, without making any further advances on her. Last night had simply been a moment of weakness, and he’d prevailed by stepping away.
“If you’ll excuse me.” John switched off the little machine once he’d completed his piece and promptly stood to beckon for replacement parts. Mary May might have gotten away with an allergic reaction last time he’d attempted this, but considering he’d be slicing it out of her within the hour, he couldn’t see any reason for her to be complaining. The bartender had been a thorn in his side from the start. While Nick and his wife had once lent John their...whatever a sinner’s closest equivalent was to friendship, Mary May had always been trouble. Wore her heart on her sleeve and trusted no one she hadn’t grown up around. Bolshie. Almost fucking killed him, once.
John busied himself with needle transfers and a pleasant expression. He could feel the woman’s eyes on him.
Did she think what Nick proclaimed? That complete and utter lie?
How fucking crass. No, he did not want to ’stick it’ to Cora. At least, as far as anyone else was concerned. He was fond of her, and - while yes, he had encountered temptation - if one disregarded the cum-stained, stolen panties in his pocket, and the conjured fantasies, and the purely incidental erection he’d maintained after the Deputy stuck her tongue down his throat last night - there was simply no evidence to suggest to anyone else that he was even remotely tempted to break the rules.
Sex was the furthest thing from his mind. It was mere coincidence that today had just so happened to fall on a morning in which he’d needed to trim.
…
If, however, she were to decide that she wanted to continue what she’d attempted last night, then surely he couldn’t be to blame if he only failed to stop her. It wasn’t technically fornication if he didn’t initiate it. Nor was it considered intercourse if -
“Brother John.”
John jumped, heart stopping, whipping his head around to the Chosen standing at the door of the church.
“What?" He asked thickly.
“The Deputy’s arrived.”
Right on cue, the crackling of gunshots drifted in alongside the Chosen’s announcement.
“Tell everyone to hold their fire.” John ordered. “We have them outnumbered tenfold. The Deputy can’t be stupid enough to create a hostage situation. Direct her here, and peacefully.”
The Chosen’s throat bobbed, swallowing back outrage, and John squinted hard at him, trying to dispel the flicker of green light in the mist outside as it settled against the man’s temple.
“John, I don’t think-”
He never got a chance to act on that incoming insubordination.
Instead, he jerked, cut off by a sickening crack as a section of his skull blew out of his head. Red mist and liquified brain matter followed, splattering against the doorframe, and the Chosen slumped lifeless onto the front step.
John wasn’t so much shaken by the killing as he was irritated by everyone else’s apparent refusal to let today go according to plan. Maybe also the pile of brains and hair now sitting on his once-pristine red carpet. He’d made this easy for the woman: kill everyone he could round up, leave her with no one to claim duty to, and get this all over and done with. Have her home by mid-afternoon. Embark on a new chapter and achieve salvation. It was that simple.
Woe to him for trusting in her common sense.
“Fuck’s sake. Wrath begets more wrath.” He muttered, smoothing a hand over his chin. He didn’t have the patience for this any longer. “Fine. Sister -”
A woman stood from the pews as soon as John made eye contact, equally as unshaken by the scene mere feet away.
“Send out word: the Deputy wants to sacrifice her friends for the sake of a fight.” John punctuated the end of his sentence with a click as he returned his focus to jamming the needles into his tattoo gun. “Give her what she wants. Take her by force.”
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The smokescreen was beginning to clear, but despite the weight it was taking off her lungs, Cora would’ve preferred it remain just a little longer. At least until they’d cleared out the town. Had they been quicker, it might have lasted longer. Covered their approach to Fall’s End. Given them more cover to sneak about unseen.
The streets, while still hazy, were visible now. It wasn’t a difficult task watching Peggie silhouettes run from building to building in search of her team. Resistance members and civilians were either in the process of being rounded up, or littered the road and pavement, dead. The Ryes, Mary May, and Pastor Jerome were yet to be seen amongst either group.
Same went for Boomer.
Aside from the barking of orders from Chosen and faithful, there was little sound. Knowing how much of a fuss her dog had put up the last time he’d been caught by the Project struck Cora’s nerves. He was his own alarm, and he would not go peacefully.
Not hearing him was an indication of the worst.
Some part of her brain argued against the idea. Vouching that John wouldn’t have hurt the creature. That was her dog. He had to be an exception to the massacre, no matter how vicious he behaved.
She had to find him, and creeping through the rear entry of the Spread Eagle was the first point of call.
Luckily enough, the back door had yet to be boarded up. Peggies who rushed past covered windows hardly stopped to peek inside the place for fear of being tainted by the presence of alcohol. Sneaking in was simple enough, too, at least once Jess had picked the lock.
“I’m going to pretend that door was open.” The Deputy murmured her equivalent to praise, passing into the building.
Grace headed straight in after her, taking a left to search for any sign of Mary May while she took a right toward the stairs.
“You pretend the Cook’s head was already gone when we found him?” Jess whispered.
“Freak accident. You all saw it.”
“First floor’s clear.” Grace announced from the serving hatch in the kitchen, clearly unhappy about it.
“Right.” Cora acknowledged, “I’ll check up top.”
The second story was as dead-quiet as the first. Furniture had been knocked over in the hallway and bedrooms had been raided. None of it indicated anything good, but she still had to know.
Cora pushed open the door to her room, and while she held no expectation of what she’d find, her heart sank anyway.
It was empty.
Boomer was gone.
Only his makeshift collar and a tattered bandana remained atop the rug he’d been snoozing on that morning.
Her dog.
John had either taken him or killed him, just like the rest. He’d do the same to the rest of her team. She should’ve taken the Baptist’s offer before the latter had even become a possibility.
“No sign?” Grace affirmed once the Deputy slipped back down to the first floor. “My guess is either they’re in hiding, or John’s giving them special treatment. If they were dead he’d be parading them.”
Sharky and Hurk exchanged a frown when Cora offered only a nod, notably more meek than usual.
“Was he in there, darlin’?” Adelaide asked, a little too gently not to invite a sting to her eyes.
Cora felt her jaw clench. It was a different breed of nausea, trying to keep her composure under the scrutiny of the rest of the team. She managed to shake her head, and Adelaide’s hand found her shoulder.
“Could still be with the others, yet.” The woman offered.
“So how do we find them?” Jess asked.
Find John Seed, of course.
“Finding them’s one thing. Getting to them might be the harder part.” Cora began. “The smokescreen’s only getting thinner and there’s Peggies everywhere. It's grasslands from here to the hills. No way we can herd everyone across a field on-foot, safely. We’ve got to make sure they stay freed, first.”
“And?” Jess huffed. “We’re gonna kill some Peggies, right?”
The blonde considered that.
“We split up. Search the buildings for anyone who hasn’t been caught yet. Round them up and plant explosives as we go. With enough chaos, maybe we can have a shot at turning the tide in the short term.”
Sharky was practically trembling. “Explosives, like, everywhere?”
“Everywhere. The more damage, the better.” Cora replied. “Adelaide, Xander, pair up. Sharky and Hurk, same with you.”
“And us on range?” Jess grinned, trading a look with Grace who maintained absolute stoicism. “I’m so into that.”
“No.”
…
“Say what?”
“No more ranged attacks. I need you and Grace to head back to the van -”
Jess was advancing on her before she’d even finished her sentence.
“You’re pulling me outta the fight? The fuck gives?” The huntress loomed over the Deputy, incredulous. Cora made an effort to stay put, but Jess’s insistence managed to outweigh her stubbornness, forcing the blonde to compromise by leaning as far back as she could without falling.
“We can’t keep running on short-term wins.” Cora insisted. “We have to put our foot down. No more small assaults. No more hoping John gets demoralised enough that he hands himself over.”
Sharky frowned. “What’re you saying?”
She met his gaze, puffing out her chest, retaking her space. “I’m saying the Henbane Bridge is unmanned right now. If we get word to the County Jail, there’s no roadblock to stop them from helping us win this. John Seed’s throwing everything he can at us. I say we try for the same. I say we end it for good. We’re gonna take back Holland Valley. Today.”
“...You really like that dog, huh.”
“That too.”
Jess looked unconvinced. “So the two of us are running errands while the rest of you are holding the fort? Fucking bullshit.”
“I told you. No more range.” Cora bit back, jabbing a thumb toward Hurk and Sharky. “You’d rather send Boshaws and Drubmans to convince Tracey to send us her best people? No offence.”
“None taken, bitch.” Adelaide grumbled.
Grace exhaled, throwing away momentary hesitation. “We’ll be fast.”
Cora traded a nod with the sniper before looking to Jess once more.
Still unconvinced.
“They have cars with guns on them, remember?”
The corner of Jess’s mouth ticked. Temptation.
Mission accomplished.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The tacky fucking carpet was the first thing she noticed, creeping along Main Street. Bliss petals had been sprinkled all over the road leading up to the church.
The carpet ended at the door. An invitation if she ever saw one. Boastful. Arrogant.
A pang of dread ached through Cora's bones, holding her in place while she drew her revolver. It could be an ambush. It probably was an ambush, but there was nothing she could feasibly do to avoid it. If the others were in there, then she couldn't wait around any longer.
She had to do this. At least hold out until Jess and Grace returned, with or without help.
She'd been running for long enough. All other options had been exhausted. At least John offered the least awful defeat.
Drawing close to the entrance, the Deputy pointedly avoided examining a dead crow that had been impaled upon the wall. She inhaled, holding the breath in her lungs, steadying her heart rate.
It was only freedom.
She opened the door, immediately training the gun out before her, following its guide into the room.
About a dozen Peggies dotted the space, leaning against walls, lining the pews - all angled at the pulpit, observing Nick on the floor. He stifled a cry while John sliced through the final remaining layers of skin binding the tattoo to his chest, peeling the word 'GREED' out of his flesh. Blood pooled on the floor around them, and the moment John had stepped away, the pilot was descended on with antiseptic and bandages.
The Deputy waited for nausea at the sight to take its course. It never did. She was all but numbed to the sight.
"Deputy, run!"
Mary May's voice cut through the silence, and the bartender lurched from her own spot on the ground. Guns raised all around the room, swinging around to aim for Cora.
”Hold!” John barked immediately, unconcerned when the Deputy shifted her aim to him. Instead, he busied himself with washing his sullied hands. “Hold your fire.”
His followers obeyed.
Cora, meanwhile, cocked the revolver in her grip. One foot edged into the room, and she glanced around for the Project’s captives before returning her gaze to John. All on the other side of the room. Pinned. Fuck.
“Hope County Sheriff’s Department.” She announced, staring the Baptist down, ignoring the grin that crept onto his face - like he found it fucking funny. “Weapons on the ground. Step away from the hostages.”
“Hostages?” John snorted. He gestured Pastor Jerome, Mary May, and Nick. “These are guests! This is their Atonement. This is your Atonement.”
“Drop the fucking weapons.
John’s patience thinned. Quickly. “I’m not doing this with you.” He replied simply. “Not today.”
With his own look around the room, John inclined his head. An unspoken order to which everyone carrying a gun turned them on her allies.
“We both know you don’t have enough bullets for everyone. Nor do you have the time. So why don’t you put down my gun and surrender.”
“Don’t-” Mary May was cut off with the tap of steel against her temple. Warning.
John was right. She was outnumbered. There was no chance of getting any of them out with force alone.
She inhaled. Exhaled. Watched the fondness slip back onto John’s face like it had never left, and set the gun on the floor.
“That’s my girl.” John murmured. Then, he motioned. “Get her ready.”
Cora’s stomach dropped as two sets of arms coiled around hers, each pulling and pushing, prickling at her skin with unfamiliar, sickening touch. Biology told her to resist. Escape the sensation. The downward pulling.
“No, stop it.” Escaped her while she squirmed. “Get off. Stop touching me-”
“Her friends can’t be far. Find them.” The Baptist ordered, turning away toward the pulpit.
Cora’s knees hit the floor. There was no holding the repetition of protests, but even as she consciously elevated the volume of her voice, it grew quieter in her ears. Calculated attempts to jerk away and make an escape became automatic twitches.
One of John’s followers - a female - crept into view, fingers tugging at the top button on her uniform collar. John readied a tattoo gun over the woman’s shoulder, and the Deputy’s mind screamed alarm bells. Get out. Escape. Fight back. Regain control.
“I won’t hurt you, sister.”
This time, she sank, curling forward, angling herself away from the woman. Another attempt, and she wrenched away again, snarling. Then, the Peggies around her must have gotten tired of all the fuss, because the tear of cotton clawed at her ears. Ringing through her brain.
Her back felt cold all of a sudden.
Green material slipped down her arms, and at the sight of her own uniform pooling in shreds in her own lap, Cora ceased her thrashing. The shredded shirt was yanked from her belt and tossed aside, and she watched with growing resignation while John turned back around.
His gaze found hers. Then flickered downward, first to the compression bra, then a margin to the right. “Here I thought you’d be unmarked.” He commented, inspecting what was visible of the old ink on her lower ribs while he approached.
Hands pressed against Cora’s shoulders, and she drifted back until her shoulder blades hit the floor.
John continued to loom until he stood directly over her. He sank to his knees, expression softening with his descent until he was on all fours on top of her. He looked almost adoring, and she hated how it comforted her, just slightly. She hated how the hands had disappeared from her limbs, and yet she still made no further attempt to escape. He had every ounce of power now.
She didn’t know she’d started trembling until his free hand swept over her collarbones, mapping out her chest, calming the gooseflesh beading on her from the chill, or the fright, or perhaps just that this whole thing felt so humiliatingly exposing.
A blush swelled over John’s throat, maybe indicating some straying line of thought. He snapped out of it and settled to sit on her hips. “This looks familiar, doesn’t it?” He teased, hovering the tattoo gun right over the centre of her sternum.
“Dont.” Was all she could manage. Weak. Pleading. “I don’t want you to.”
“You have no idea how good you’re going to feel after this.” John cooed.
One of his fingers drifted along her jaw. An attempt at comforting her, but to no avail. He looked equal parts gentle and feral with excitement.
The machine buzzed, lowering pitch when the needles finally pressed into her flesh.
This was it.
She’d lost. There was no going back, anymore. No more normal, no more ridding herself of this family. They’d taken everything, and now they were claiming ownership over her, too.
The others were being hunted. It was only a matter of time. John was working too quickly. They’d be gone before the Cougars even crossed the river.
Cora’s nerves muted. Sound closed to just the rumble of blood in her ears. She receded into herself. Found a backseat in her mind, away from the sensory overload and the humiliation and her own failure while her body quietly continued: ”Dont, don’t, stop.”
She’d lost, and John wouldn’t stop. Not while he was branding the evidence of his victory into her flesh.
Defeat tasted worse than anticipated.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Bullets whizzed overhead while Sharky and Hurk took cover beneath the window, watching helplessly as the aisle of potato chips and bar nuts was torn to shreds by the onslaught. Dorito dust filled the shop like mustard gas.
“Cuz, I think they found us!” Hurk barked, snapping an arm over his head in defence when a stray round ricocheted off the front counter.
“What gives you that impression?” Sharky hit back, hurriedly setting down his shotgun and shrugging his backpack to the floor.
“How many are there?”
“How about you check?”
“How about you check?”
A moment of quiet occurred while the cousins glared at each other, leaving their standoff to a battle of no blinking. Then the Peggies outside must’ve finished re-loading, because the back wall of the shop was suddenly being shot into swiss cheese.
They were okay. Everything was cool. Addie and Xander had taken their share of explosives and gone the quiet route. Grace and Jess were gone. Shorty had disappeared into the church, and while he couldn't count the best, Sharky was pretty confident that John had caught her.
Could they have kept on looking for survivors and breaking out captives? Sure - but why do that when they could kill, like 40 birds with one stone and beeline for the gas station? It was conveniently across the road from the church, empty of any and all life barring the dormant tanks underground. An explosion that big was sure to fuck up like a good portion of Main Street. Not even the Chosen would be able to resist checking it out.
Disconnecting the safety switches had been easy. He’d been arrested for doing it like 5 times already. Cops, Peggies; it didn’t matter - Sharky knew what he was doing, and without the giant swinging dick of the law hanging over him, the man was on a mission. Cultists shooting at him was fine. He was used to that.
Threat of death or no, he wasn’t giving up the chance to see this place blow sky high.
“We’ll be outta here any second, Hurky.” Sharky assured. “Just gotta sprinkle a little C-4 around the place and we’ll be gone before it even goes off.”
Hurk was sweating. A lot. He was accustomed to being shot at, but normally, he had more than just Sharky to get him out of a tight spot. “Alright, bro. Gimme some. Many hands and what have you.”
“Fuck yeah. First step, toss some at the tanker outside. We wanna get the place as fiery as possible up here to wake up the big boys underground, and-”
Sharky stopped in his tracks, eyeing the backpack he’d just been in the process of unzipping.
“-uhh.”
“Uhh?”
“Hurky, can I be real with you?”
“Is now the best time for a deep and meaningful?” Hurk hissed, crawling toward him nonetheless.
The arsonist stuck his hand down the pack, rifling through fluff and mesh. “I, uh, I think I brought the wrong bag. And by think I mean know without a shadow of a doubt.”
Hurk watched as his cousin tugged the green, furry headpiece of a dragon out into the open.
“You brought-...”
“I brought my fursuit.”
“Not the C-4?”
“Not the C-4.”
“Okay, bro. That's fine. I'm not mad. Human error. Not even a little bit?”
Sharky checked again, just for good measure. “Nope...so, uhm...you got a match?”
Hurk ran a hank through his hair. “Not to poo poo your ideas, but that probably ain’t the best move.”
So just like that, they were fucked.
Jess and Grace still hadn’t come back. The others were nowhere to be seen. Shorty was holed up in that church, and he and Hurk were about to be rounded up by born-again virgins.
Shit, if that were the case -
“Well, if this is gonna be the last opportunity.” Sharky grunted, tugging the suit out and unzipping the back. “May as well enjoy our last minutes of freedom, huh?”
Hurk took the cue, creeping across the destroyed shop floor and reaching for a popped bag of pretzels. He sat back against the wall, leaning against the rocket launcher he’d propped up against the corner.
“Man.” The brunette sighed, staring at the floor. “If only we had some other kind of ranged, explosive device.”
“No shit.” Sharky agreed. “Some high velocity shit would fix this.”
They exchanged a sympathetic look once the arsonist had zipped himself up and crept over and sit beside his cousin, both leaning on either side of the RPG.
Hurk held out the bag.
“Pretzel?”
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
“Was that so bad?” John asked, placing the tattoo gun aside and framing the Deputy’s marked chest. ’WRATH', in true black, beading with blood. The skin surrounding the text was mottled and inflamed. Excess ink covered the area in patches, gathering in the dip of her cleavage, disappearing beneath her sports bra.
All that sin, already leaking out through the exit he’d made for her.
Gorgeous.
Cora didn’t respond. That was fine. Shock was normal. She’d thank him once this was all over. For now, she just trembled, lock jawed, dissociated gaze searching what John had thought was him until he sat up. No, instead she was watching the ceiling.
John flashed a smile, blocking out a tiny streak of dread at the sight of the woman so vacant. Sweeping a lock of stained hair over her shoulder, he smoothed his fingers past her neck, attempting to gently angle her focus back to him. “Hey. You can come back now. We’re all done.”
You're finally on the other side. React to it. React to me. Look at me-
The boom came first, hollow and deep, and John felt the floor beneath him rumble. Chandeliers and decorations wobbled from the disturbance. Several of his followers shot from their seats, immediately abandoning the Resistance leaders they’d guarded in favour of pacing back and forth, trying to get a look at whatever was happening outside.
“Is this it?”
“Is it the Collapse?”
“It’s time?”
“John, is it the Collapse?”
The panic escalated quickly, forcing the Baptist to break his attention away from the empty woman below him and rein in the flock.
“Calm down.” He exclaimed, “It’s not the Collapse. It’s probably just-”
Another boom. Almost deafeningly loud.
This time, the whole church shook. Windows shattered in their creaking panes and smashed to the floor while pews squealed heavily in protest.
Contrary to his assertion, John dove down, covering the Deputy with his body. Holy shit, was it the Collapse?
The tremor must have been enough to snap Cora out of her trance, because a muffled “Get your tits out of my face.” buzzed against John’s chest.
Tragically, however, the Baptist never got the opportunity to reply to her. Had it not been for the fucking tennis shoe colliding with the side of his skull, he imagined he’d have something very clever to say. Alas, pain shot through his head and he jerked to the side, fighting against the blow to stay put. A snarl from Mary May, his apparent attacker, sounded in retaliation. She dove into him, knee driving into his ribs, throwing him off of the Deputy.
His thoughts left him for the briefest moment, overtaken by ensuing gunshots and shouts and the shrieks of the bartender as she was clawed away from him. Her hand shot forward right as she was yanked up, intended as a punch. It didn’t land, and John couldn’t help but shoot her a smirk for her failure.
“Deputy, gun!”
Nevermind. It wasn’t a punch after all. Mary May had been pointing over his shoulder at the revolver that had been surrendered on the floor. His revolver. The same one Cora was now scrambling toward.
No.
John lurched, heart leaping into his throat.
Not now. Not after he’d won. Not when they were so close.
His hand found the leg of Cora’s pants, wrenching, pulling her away from the weapon, and she kicked against him. Her finger tips slid against the barrel of the revolver, tugging it into her palm.
God wouldn’t fucking undo his victory.
John snarled, catching the Deputy’s wrist when she tried to aim - at him no less. Without her own recovery time achieved, he was able to wrestle the weapon from her easily enough, flattening her struggling body beneath his just long enough to hook an arm around her waist. He twisted around, holding the woman’s back against his belly. Her squirming ceased with the press of the muzzle against her head, and the moment her allies had taken notice of the change, everything went still.
Finally.
A little civility.
Several of John’s followers lay on the floor, either dead or close to it. Only a half-dozen remained, though the pair of Chosen had survived and placed themselves closest to their leader.
Pastor Jerome had procured a handgun from within his own bible - something that pulled a breathless laugh out of John as he surveyed the others. Nick hadn’t been able to arm himself, but he’d still tackled one of the faithful to the ground. His knuckles were bloodied. A familiar sight. Mary May had wrestled a gun of her own away from the woman who’d seized her. She aimed it shakily at John.
Armed but outnumbered, outgunned, and now, they were in check.
They never learned, did they?
“The way you people behave, you’d think salvation was a bad thing.” John tittered. “Right. Now, let’s try this again. Atonement, or damnation.” To punctuate his meaning, he tapped the muzzle against Cora’s head. She grunted in protest, and he ignored her. Of course it was a bluff. No one else knew that but him, though. It was too risky a move for the Resistance to let him do away with the one person that banded their factions.
She was their leader. They couldn’t lose her.
John looked around the room once more, locking eyes with Jerome first - then Mary May. “Are we going to behave?”
The answer was immediate and clear: a gunshot cracking through the Baptist’s ears and the flash of a blast spilling from Mary May’s weapon. Cora’s elbow driving into his stomach and the reaction time of his Chosen snapping to attention, covering him, already hauling John out of the church and onto the street.
Fuck no, he wasn't leaving without his prize.
"GRAB HER!" John howled, struggling against the attempts to get him to safety. "Leave the rest!"
It was a reluctant effort, but the Deputy was yanked along as well, shoved into Johns arms on his repeated orders, with me, with me.
“Mary May, what the fuck!” The Deputy roared over her shoulder.
“Sorry Deputy! I missed!”
Missed?
“You sure about that? Jesus fucking Christ!”
More shots sounded, but only the noise pursued them from the building. It wasn’t until John had shoved Cora into the back of the waiting truck that he realised how warm his hand had gotten. Wet, too.
“Get to the ranch!” One of the Chosen snarled up front, casting a look back at the Baptist while the vehicle took off, watching as he peeled away from the blonde to inspect himself.
Blood.
He was bleeding. But where from? Barring the sting of his scabs and that kick to the head, nothing hurt. There were no wounds hiding under his sleeves or -
A hiss sounded from the Deputy beside him, curling in on herself.
Shit.
She hadn’t elbowed him.
“Cora-” John scrambled for her. "Cora, let me see."
“Told you not to call me that.” The Deputy grit out, kicking at him until she’d well and truly jammed herself into the corner of the seat and the car door. Her left hand gripped her right forearm, just below the elbow and to no avail. Crimson coated the skin on her side, encasing her arm completely and seeping through her fingertips.
She was bleeding. Not heavily, but steadily.
”Deputy.” John bit back, advancing. “You’re hurt. Let me help-”
Just like that, the kicking resumed. “Don’t touch me-DON’T FUCKING TOUCH ME-”
“For once in your fucking life, just relax!”
Only incomprehensible snarling came in response.
John rolled his jaw, brimming with as much irritation as he was adrenaline. The Resistance had made their choice. Regretful, but final. He’d gotten what he came for, and he wasn’t intending on losing her just because she was too stubborn to accept help.
He glanced at the revolver still in his grip. Then back at Cora, rotating the grip toward her. A threat. “Are you going to let me help, or am I going to have to calm you down?”
“Don’t you dare.” Her words came hoarse. She gave scowling a red hot go, but without the rationale to deny him, the Deputy lacked conviction. She exhaled. “Fuck it. We've done this enough already. You get ten minutes. Then you’re under arrest.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Her cheek twitched. A weak chuckle. The slightest flash of acknowledgement as she let him press his weight over her forearm. Thankfully, the wound wasn’t pulsing; nor was there a puncture wound. A gouged strip had been carved into her flesh where the bullet had grazed, but nothing vital seemed to have been struck.
“That - you can keep saying.”
"You're a flirt when you're in shock, Deputy." Had John not been too busy regulating about a dozen other emotions, he might have flushed at her words. For a moment, he just sat there, basking in the borderline friendliness on her face. Then, it occurred to him that they were among watchful company, and he cleared his throat, returning to his task.
Minutes passed. No more words were exchanged. Not until they’d passed the Rye and Son’s sign.
The Chosen in the front passenger’s seat looked over his shoulder, dismissing another over the radio before regarding the Baptist. “The Resistance isn’t making ground. The faithful are still rounding up stragglers, and we’ve taken casualties, but numbers are looking strong. Medic will meet you at the ranch, John. We can deliver our newest sister to the Gate while you recover.”
John inclined his head. “Much obliged. We need this one to stay with us until she’s completed her vows. She can’t be trusted unsupervised, but I won’t put the responsibility of containing her back on our people again.” He looked to Cora, then. Her face had run pale and she’d gone clammy, but she remained upright. Just...woozy. Pacified, for now.
He’d got what he came for. Fuck the rest.
“I have something to say.” The blonde announced, swaying against John’s arm. “I know why Mary May shot me.”
“This another one of your jokes?” John deadpanned.
“This one’s funny, I swear.”
“...go on, then.”
“It’s because I never tip.”
For a moment, Cora looked very satisfied with herself. Then, she retched, slumping forward into the Baptist’s lap when he instinctually jolted out of the potential line of fire. He hurried to steady her, keeping tight hold over her wound, and grimaced while the noise escaped her a second time.
Thank God nothing came out; his shoes would’ve been the first to know about it.
The Deputy didn’t sit back up.
That was fine. So long as she wasn’t dead. So long as she wasn’t fighting back.
“It’s all the sin escaping you.” John explained, off-handed, when a complaining grunt sounded below. “Evil being expelled from your body. You’ll feel better soon.”
“Pretty sure it’s my blood pressure, actually. Soon as I’m good again, you’re history.”
When one disregarded the fact that she’d had a gun trained on him earlier - and the blood drying uncomfortably on his clothes - and the persistent pounding of a headache from Mary May’s heel, this was almost pleasant. The quiet roads. The Deputy, all but atoned with her head on his thigh. Not fighting back. Conceding defeat. Peaceful.
He got what he came for.
He’d won.
He was saved.
Passing his thumb over Cora’s ribs, John’s attention was pulled back to the old ink peeking out from beneath the band of her top. Text, blurred and flattened enough to be years old, and too obscured to decipher.
“Thought I’d be your first.” The brunette murmured.
“Jealous?”
Yes.
“Don’t be ridiculous. What’s it say?”
“‘The Mountains Are Calling’.”
A sickening wave of dread passed over the Baptist. The rock forming in his throat, icy and bitter and seizing him against any reply.
The mountains are calling.
Jacob. Joseph. The Trials. Atonement wasn’t the final step. Handing her over to his brothers was the final step.
He got what he came for, but the woman in his arms wasn’t the trophy intended for him.
He was saved. He’d redeemed himself. He’d completed his task and Joseph would permit him beyond the gates. That was all he was supposed to do. That was enough.
That had to be enough.
“‘And I Must Go’.” John completed quietly.
Cora tilted her head a little, not quite looking at him - almost like she was trying not to. “You know John Muir.”
“Not enough to warrant a photo on the bedside table.”
“Shut up.”
There was nothing convincing about the chuckle he offered. He was too busy observing her, studying the side of her face. Committing her to memory as if he hadn’t spent years acquainting himself with every spot and micro-expression.
“Maybe working for you will be bearable.” She murmured, and John’s heart only sank further. "If I don't manage to arrest you."
The mountains are calling.
She still had no idea that all the promises he’d made her had been fabricated. That she wouldn’t be staying. That he’d lied to her.
The mountains were calling. In a few days time, she’d know it. She’d despise him. She’d be taken off his hands and he’d assume his regular duties once again.
He’d saved both of them.
Cora’s thumb absently grazed back and forth on his knee. Ignorant. “Can I ask something?”
It took everything in him not to mirror the action against her skin.
“Of course.”
“Can I start next Monday?”
"What happened to you being such a workaholic?"
"To be honest with you, I'm really fucking tired."
She’d be incredible. Jacob would love her. Joseph would be proud. John had accomplished something near-impossible for his family, and even if the Deputy hated him - even if she forgot him entirely, he was content with the knowledge that he’d have brought her to salvation.
Even if they never saw each other again, he’d know that she’d passed through the gates. That she’d climb to the surface once the world had been scorched clean. She’d rebuild, and marry, and have children, and he’d do the same.
Hopeful anticipation and the agony of longing had never felt so similar before.
“Fine.” John smiled, giving in, sliding his fingers up her arm and coaxing a stray lock of hair out of her face. There were no promises he’d be able to do it again after this. “But on one condition.”
“What?”
“Spend those days with me.”
Cora stirred, angling to peer up at him out of the corner of her eye. She smiled crookedly.
“Deal.”

♡ week one — kageyama tobio | long-distance relationship
♡ summary — getting into a relationship with kageyama was close to impossible, that you knew. nevertheless, that didn’t stop you from developing feelings for him and eventually becoming more than friends. he was constantly training and didn’t have a lot of time to spend by your side, but once kageyama found himself remembering your laugh on his way home, he decided to do whatever it took to make the relationship work.
♡ playlist
the moon song - beabadoobee & oscar lang home - bruno major blueberry eyes - max & suga
♡ masterlist ♡
Every morning, Kageyama wakes up at the same hour. He puts on his running shoes, grabs his phone, keys and earphones and hits the streets. It’s been his routine since he started playing volleyball. While he ran, Kageyama preferred to keep his mind focused in his steps, the weight he was putting on his heels and toes, his heart rhythm and his mind replaying the sets he had done the day before. He didn’t see running as something he did before he trained, but as part of the training itself. Kageyama was very adamant against listening to music or a podcast during his morning runs.
Everything changed after he met you.
Kageyama puts on his earphones and goes through his mail inbox. Like most days, he sees your name on his most recent unopened email. He downloads the audio attachment and presses play before shoving his phone back to his pocket.
“Good morning Tobio!”
His lip twitches upward.
“So, you must be sleeping right now. Which sucks! Because I just got home from work. Yes, I got safe, don’t worry. Mika and her boyfriend dropped me at my place right now. Remember Mika, my coworker? Yeah. Hey boyfriend always picks her up when we have shifts until one in the morning and they drive me home. I’m kind of tired right now.”
Kageyama hears a long yawn on your side, followed by a thud that he imagines it’s you laying on your bed.
“Let me put on some music,” you say, and a few seconds later he listens to a tune he thinks he’s heard before. “Today’s classes were just okay. I got a grade back but it wasn’t what I expected.”
“But, what can you do?” Kageyama mouths along with your voice.
“Work was also okay. Mika and I spent most of the night talking, she had had a small fight with her boyfriend and asked me for advice. It wasn’t really a big thing, you see…”
The next few minutes, Kageyama listens to you ramble about your friend and her boyfriend, but he has to admit he is paying more attention to your voice than what you were saying. He imagines himself watching you talk and the expressions he had seen you make the first time he had seen you. The tip of your tongue sticking out between your teeth after you laughed at something you shouldn’t have laughed about, the slight pout on your lips as you talked about something you didn’t like or the attentive way your eyes fixated on him while he talked about volleyball.
“Anyway, I know you don’t really care about this,” you say. “But it’s really nice to imagine you listening to me talk during your morning runs. Is it already cold there? I hope you put something on if it is. Not trying to tell you what to do. I know you, more than anyone, take your health very seriously, but I guess I can’t help but worry,” you chuckle. You stay quiet for a moment, and Kageyama basks in the comfort your silence provides.
His mind goes back to those Sunday nights when he’s watching past games on his laptop while he’s face timing with you. You are usually taking a cup of coffee, trying to forget you’ve only slept five hours after getting home from your shift at the bar. You know he has to get to bed in a couple of hours so he can get enough rest for this Monday practice, so you treasure those small moments when the time difference and both your busy schedules let you share a moment. Kageyama’s eyes are fixated on his laptop and you take the opportunity to revise some of your lessons, most of the time finding out there was a paper due next week you had forgotten about.
Every once in a while you take a look at your phone and see Kageyama’s dark eyes glued to his laptop. You bury your nose on the Schweiden Adlers hoodie he sent you last month and even if your boyfriend’s smell has almost completely worn off, you still find comfort in wearing his clothes.
When Kageyama comes back to his house to get ready for training, your voice is no longer in his ears. You always made sure not to surpass the usual time he spends running. He takes a look at the dual clock on his phone and realizes you must be still in class, so he refrains from sending a text and hops on the shower.
The fourteen hour difference between the both of you had seemed like a wall impossible to climb. Not only that but his intense training schedule plus your uni classes and your part time job also took most of your energy and it was a rare occurrence that you could sit in front of a computer at the same time.
But the connection was something he had never experienced before. He had been invited to a foreign university overseas for a tournament. The day before it started, the team had gone to the campus to get to know the facilities, and after they were done, Kageyama had left them to buy something to drink from a vending machine. Not being able to find any, he asked for directions and took the elevator to the cafeteria, not noticing someone carrying a couple of books under their arms standing next to him.
Now it seemed almost fate to remember how the elevator malfunctioned and he had to spend the next two hours with you. After pressing the Emergency button and being told it would be a while, you introduced yourself with a smile. He wasn’t really enthusiastic about getting to know each other but it all changed after he mentioned he was there because of a volleyball tournament. Kageyama can still remember your eyes widening and the questions that followed, all centered about his true passion. A few minutes later, you were sitting on the floor of the elevator, while he explained in broken English every position in volleyball and what they were supposed to do. Even though you hadn’t played any sports seriously outside of school, the fact this guy was talented enough to get invited overseas to play had spiked your attention, and you asked question after question so you could understand more about volleyball.
“So the setter is basically the key player, right?” you had asked, while he scribbled on the notebook you had lent him so he could explain.
Kageyama tried not to smile. He really did.
After you asked him about the tournament schedule and wrote down the name of his team, you promised you would do your best to make it to the game. Kageyama had never really cared about people coming to his games to watch but, once he had won the first game as was leaving the court, his eyes unexpectedly met yours and he saw you waving at him for the bleachers with a smile. He nodded at you and as he disappeared through the gym door he thought maybe someone going to see his games wasn’t so bad.
One week later, Kageyama’s team had won the tournament, and since you had asked for his number while waiting inside the elevator, you offered to buy him something from the cafeteria after the final match. This time, he took the time to listen to you ramble about your career, and how enthusiastic you were about it. He didn’t understand most of the things you talked about, most of your words sounding foreign and new to him. But the one detail he did recognize at first glance was the way your pupils dilated while you spoke. Your hands moved faster than usual as you tried to explain, and you even used the salt shaker on the table as a prop to help you out. The glimmer in your eyes was the same nature as the burn he used to feel in his chest whenever he talked about volleyball. You promised to stay in contact and gave him a small but tight hug when it was his time to leave. He hoped you didn’t notice the pink tint on his cheeks before you went away.
Your love confession came two months after he was back in Japan, followed by the longest and hardest conversation the two of you had ever had. He explained his strict training schedule and you talked about your university increasing the hardness of the classes you took and how little time you had left. A long silence filled the room, and you realized maybe you should have kept the confession to yourself. It was never going to work. There were too many impediments so maybe it would have been better to push down whatever you felt. In the end, you two weren’t supposed to meet and--
“I’d like to try it.”
You can still remember the blush on his cheeks and furrowed eyebrows after blurting out those words. You smiled brightly at him and nodded, enthusiastically.
“I’d like to try too.”
It had been one year and six months since then. To find someone who not only understood his crazy schedule but was passionate about their own work felt surreal to Kageyama. Your plan was to finish your career in your home country and then move to Japan. You had been auditing the Japanese classes at your uni and taking a part time job to be able to support yourself as you settled in a new country. All of those changes meant less time to be able to talk with Kageyama as much as you did before. He assured you he understood, even if he would never admit out loud he missed you as well.
The situation prompted you to find other ways to feel close to him, hence why Kageyama woke up almost every day with a new audio file from you. You went from talking about your day to making him listen to music and even took the chance to practice your japanese. His English listening skills had also gotten better in the past year, all thanks to talking with you and how you would slow down your pace and repeat yourself if he ever needed to. While you recorded your audios after work, he usually recorded his after practice while he walked home from practice. Even if he was always a little worried about the length, you always made sure to send him messages about how happy you were to hear his voice while you ate your lunch or walked to your job after your classes.
Kageyama finishes his shower and comes back to his room. He gets ready in less than ten minutes in silence, knowing he doesn’t have any time to spare if he wants to get to the practice in time. Winter break is a month away, and he wants to give his best before he’s forced to step away for a couple of weeks. He has never liked holidays stepping in his routine, but he knows there was nothing he could do but endure and wait for his training to resume.
Before he leaves, Kageyama checks his phone again and opens the newest email.
Congratulations! Your flight booking is confirmed.
Okay, maybe he is looking forward to winter break after all.

MLQC Season 2 Chapter 15 (Kiro’s Chapter) Part 4 [Double Courage] & [New Game] Translation [CN]
***SPOILERS*** DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED!!!
I decided to combine 2 parts into one post since 15-5 was short. Enjoy~
For the previous translation of Chapter 15: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.
[Double Courage]
There was no sound of footsteps coming and going outside the door and I was the only one left in the empty utility room.
I know he is still outside. Looking at the closed door, I slowly stepped forward and lifted my head.
It suddenly occurred to me, when I first arrived at the hospital after hearing that Kiro had an accident.
At that time, he was also on the other side, refusing me.
I turned around, leaned against the door, and sat down. Soon, the sound of footsteps quietly leaving came to my ears.
I have to admit, I really can’t help him. I am not strong enough to make him feel more at ease.
People need to accept their own weaknesses and limitations in order to think about what they can do from their own perspective.
The whole space is quiet and my heart is surprisingly calm.
I closed my eyes and replayed all the scenes of my time with Kiro over and over again in my mind.
If I were Kiro, why would I need to use another identity while insisting on solving the problem alone?
If I was admitted to the hospital and refused to see anyone, it must be because there is a serious illness and I don’t know how to deal with others.
And I act alone because it may be dangerous and I don’t want to be dragged down by others or….
MC: Drag others down with me.
My brain is spinning so fast. I always feel that there is something that has constantly plagued me and I have come to a conclusion.
MC:…Kiro’s illness has not been cured?
So everything makes sense now.
From beginning to end, he never said why he was admitted into the hospital.
If he was attacked because of what he did, then he abandoned the identity of “Kiro” and acted under the identity of “Helios” which made it even more logical sense.
It is precisely because the illness has not been cured. He cannot expose his weakness but at the same time, he will also worry that he will be a burden to others because of this.
MC: Kiro, are you trying to be strong again?
Secretly covering up his wounds and then create an identity of another person to carry everything on his back.
But this shouldn’t be a world where only superheroes get hurt.
MC: Kilo, display location.
Following my instructions, an electronic map immediately laid out before my eyes. I looked towards the center of the map and was shocked.
Next to the little bear wearing a small flower is another bear.
Helios hasn’t left. He was just outside the door.
I remember coming in, passing by the fire control room.
I thought for a while, not worrying about it anymore, I reached out my hand and touched the head of the little bear that was close to me, as if I could the person behind it.
MC: Kiro, can you hear me?
As I expected, there was no response.
I carefully tapped the microphone on the collar twice and then muttered to myself.
MC: Kiro, I know you are there. You can just treat this as me talking to myself but listen to me, okay?
MC: I know that I am very small and there are many things I can’t do and can’t help much.
MC: I don’t think it is shameful to admit that I am weak, because I know where to move forward after realizing this.
MC: For example, right now I’m thinking, do I have to learn some hacking skills or any combat skills?
There was a vaguely violent cough outside the door and I couldn’t help but smile.
MC: I know you must have encountered something sad.
MC: I also know that I can’t help you with this. You are afraid that I will only worry more so you choose to stay away from me.
MC: But Kiro, do you know?
MC: Sometimes you are a coward and then you make yourself look strong.
Kiro:….MC
Kiro’s dull voice rang in my ears as if it came from the collar and also from the door behind him.
MC: Kiro, you don’t have to be so strong.
MC: Difficulty is like a giant beast with its teeth and claws bared. A little bear will inevitably be nervous and scared when facing it.
MC: But it doesn’t have to force itself to fight alone because if it were two bears, the courage would be doubled.
MC: The weapon to defeat the beast is often not any sharp knife, but the power of courage.
MC: My courage can be lent to you at any time.
There was a small voice and I knew he was listening to me carefully.
MC: I know you are working hard for everyone so I hope I can also help you in some way.
Next, I started to tell him all the information about the hunter game, Joker and the little boy I learned about.
Rather than watching him fight alone, I will accompany the superhero in my own way.
After Helios closed the door of the utility room, he took out the hidden mini computer from under the console of the fire control room.
This is his temporary stronghold. It is located in the center of the city so it is convenient for his system to scan the entire terrain of Loveland City.
After he hacked into the opponent’s map program and was kicked out, he came to a decision.
He wants to build a brand new system to replace the other party’s authority and control over Loveland.
He opened the program on the mini computer and took out another device.
After the device started up, a beam of light projected into the air, showing an unfinished 3D map.
He sat down and flicked his fingers quickly in the air and the program projected in the air began to change with his movements.
This is a program he developed overnight to scan a map of the city and it is more intuitive than a 2D map.
At the same time, he tried to hack into the opponent’s system again, only this time, he did not bother to snatch the program they made.
He just wants to use their system to master the information of all players and all supply points so that he can enter the next step of the plan.
He quickly worked out a plan to end the game, with every step interlocking. And the first step of all plans must be that she can stay safe.
He knows that once Kilo is enabled, his identity will be exposed to the girl.
But in such a chaotic situation, he can no longer consider that much to ensure her safety.
After finding her, his ecstatic mood made him temporarily forget the anxiety caused by those recent events.
He forgot for a while that Kiro is broken, lonely and silent.
When she heard that she was looking forward to meeting the healthy Kiro, he suddenly recovered.
He is no longer the same Kiro, at least not the Kiro she was expecting.
He still couldn’t stand in front of her as Kiro.
The girl’s voice chattered endlessly, but it made him calmer than ever.
When she said that she wanted to learn hacking techniques or combat skills, he couldn’t help but cough.
At that moment, he was sure that she was serious.
She said that he was a coward.
She said that he doesn’t need to be so strong.
Helios tapped his fingers on the keyboard and gradually stopped.
Never compromise, never give up.
He feels his heart slowly being peeled off. There is a force pushing him forward.
She was right. As long as she was by his side, he would gain great courage.
This courage can support him to do many things and make him feel even more strength.
And the information she brought was really helpful to him.
Although he had investigated some information long ago, some of it was the first time he had heard of it.
The name Joker and Evol may be the main messenger of the game and the boy who can provide teleportation for him.
The so-called “ghost” to “human” transmission is actually done by this young man.
He frowned and began to think about what changes his plan needed to make as a result.
Fast fingers flew over the keyboard again and a “beep” came from multiple devices at the same time.
He raised his eyebrows slightly and his eyes showed unstoppable sharpness.
After scanning the three-dimensional map of the city, the player’s information points have been fully entered, the locations of the supply points have been disclosed to him, and the girl’s location information has also been erased from the game.
Helios: This game is mine.
[New Game]
I leaned against the door and suddenly felt a vibration from my phone. When I picked it up, I found that the phone had a black screen.
Before I had a chance to restart it, the screen automatically lit up and then a line of words were displayed.
“Welcome to the new hunter game.”
New hunter game? I was stunned for a moment, before I realized what had happened, the word “hunter” was marked with a red “X” by the animation effect.
MC: Welcome to…..the new hunter game?”
The red animation effect keeps flashing on the screen, seeming to constantly emphasize the concept of “new game”.
Did Joker change the rules of the game? Why cross out the word “hunter”? What does he want to do?
Unsettling emotions came to my mind. I subconsciously wanted to call Helios but I heard a familiar voice come over the phone.
??: Now, the game management rights will be changed.
??: I hereby announce, the new game has officially started.
This voice….is Helios!
I looked at the phone in disbelief and saw the screen change along with his voice.
“Hunter Game Is Out”
Helios: All the rules of the hunter game are invalidated.
Helios: There is only one rule you have to abide by—“No harm to anyone.”
I looked at the big words “NO FIGHT” displayed on the screen and faintly guessed what Helios wanted to do.
Helios: The communication method will now be opened, allowing all players to establish contact.
Helios: The game system adds a help platform and anyone who needs assistance can upload coordinates.
Helios: The map resumes normal use and all supply points will be publicly marked.
When he released these rules, the signal of my mobile phone showed full frame synchronously; a dialog box for help also popped up on the screen.
Then the phone automatically opened a brand new Loveland City map which not only showed the locations of all supply points but also a panoramic 3D map.
Helios: But don’t be too happy. My game will only be harder.
Helios: All of you, still have to follow my rules.
His tone was blunt, as if he was really the master of the game.
I was a little puzzled. Helios is clearly helping everyone to restore peace in Loveland. Why is he deliberately being so cold?
Although the fog has not dissipated, he can directly announce the end of the game. Why would he go the other way and announce the new rules of the game?
At this time, the screen switched to the surveillance on the streets of Loveland City and Helios seemed to have set up thermal imaging technology to clearly see colorful figures on the screen.
After seeing the contents of the surveillance clearly, my eyes widened unexpectedly—
Many people still pushed and scrambled for the aerosol at the replenishment point, fighting hard, and the scene was chaotic.
It seems that the so-called “new game” and “new rules” are meaningless to them.
Faintly, I seem to understand something.
Even if the game itself is stripped away, some people will still be dominated by fear or some kind of temptation and continue to dwell in the cold-blooded fighting.
So is this also Helios’ consideration?
I looked back at the closed wooden door waiting for his answer.
Helios: If someone insists on going their own way and continue to compete for limited resources…
Helios: The aerosol that you’re competing for will be ineffective at the moment.
Before he finished his words, everyone on the screen seemed to be taken aback. Several people raised the aerosols in their hands and panicked.
Helios: This is my game.
Helios: If you don’t believe me, you can try it.
The picture automatically zoomed in and the aerosol in the person’s hand was clearly exposed---the aerosol valve was automatically opened.
The crowd seemed to have finally realized the existence of the new game and stood there facing each other.
This is the meaning of Helios building a new game—
If the game is announced directly, everyone will continue to compete for aerosol if the fog is not effectively resolved.
That’s why he created another image of the game controller and introduced new game rules.
The purpose is to establish authority, let everyone follow his instructions, and get out of the mindset of fighting in a more orderly manner.
Helios: If you want to live, you must act according to my rules.
Helios: All players will be divided into three levels and displayed on your mobile phone screens according to the length of the remaining survival time.
Helios: Sub-level players need to help emergency level players to obtain aerosol.
Helios: The more people you help, the higher the ranking will be.
Helios: The highest-ranked person can still get a generous bonus.
Helios: Remember, “you are the game itself.”
Helios: Looking forward to your wonderful performance.
Helios completely changed the rules of the game.
If it can be executed smoothly, it will make the hunter game lose its original meaning.
It turns out that this is his “own way” to solve the hunter game?
While sighing, I was also a little worried.
The current situation is undoubtedly a huge change for Joker. In order to take back control, he will certainly not give up.
I was about to remind Helios to be vigilant but suddenly there was a slight noise outside the door. Helios opened the door in the next second.
Helios: Let’s go.
Helios: Someone has snuck in.

A Bird in the Hand
Warnings: kidnapping, dubious consent, mind control, imprisonment.
Most people dreamed about being heroes who went to UA, but not you. Your quirk was not the kind that was usable in battle, unless you had wanted to be used as a shield... and as much as you valued heroisism... there was a limit to your ability to be a team player.
You had set yourself a much less lofty, but perhaps more profitable (and realistic goal, let’s be honest) of going into the business stream. You had an appreciation for heroes and Their aim to be on the front lines. You would be happy to be a support of their dreams and ambitions. But, your aim was an internship at one of the hero agencies, wherein you could help the heroes of today and tomorrow carve out a space in the sun. You had a knack for building relationships, and striking a bargain, and hoped that would help you in your quest to assist the heroes of tomorrow.
Besides, with a quirk like yours, it was better to be as far removed from the hero radar as possible. What you had was rarely useful to anyone but yourself. Immediate and permanent healing. That didn’t mean that you didn’t experience the pain of an injury, sadly that was not the case. What happened for you was that your body rejected the physical manifestations of an injury. The moment a knife scraped your hand, your body rejected the cut. You might bleed, depending on depth, but no actual injury would occur. And you would never scar either, which was a nice bonus to have.
The medical professionals that you had met throughout your life had wanted to study you, and use whatever part of your quirk they could replicate. You had spent time giving samples and demonstrations of your unique abilities for quite a large part of your youth, and so had a bit of an aversion to hospitals even now.
You were close to a few of the heroes in both class 1 and 2, and the support students were on your radar as well. You weren’t necessarily popular, but you were known. As a student focused on your studies, you were open to socialising whenever exams were not pressing in.
It hadn’t taken long after the first sports day for you to be impressed by several of your year 1 classmates. Shinso was a standout for you despite his ranking and not being in the hero stream just yet. Still, you could see him going far, and it wouldn’t take long for someone to see that he was an exceptional candidate for it. You approached warily, happy to see that he was interested in you as well, and while not outwardly apparent, touched that anyone had such a good impression of his abilities.
You didn’t work too hard at maintaining the relationship, but frequently said hi, or caught up with him in the moments he was available. Your no-nonsense attitude meant you rarely cared about what his ability could do to you, only what it could mean as a future hero. He also was friendly and driven enough that he made a good aquiantence and friend.
You had no idea that your attentions had Shinzo feeling any certain way. That his eyes lingered on you long after your brief exchange. He was thankful for the attention, and your interest in his abilities made him feel appreciated and liked. That you were also beautiful was not something he took for granted. He enjoyed watching the way you walked to class, how your eyes were viligantly watching your classmates. It was all very intriguing. Besides, Shinzo liked when your eyes found his, and he enjoyed the nod or smile he received whenever your eyes met. You didn’t seem to notice that his eyes had already been trained on you.
But Shinso had also been contacted by the league of villains, and his constant failure to get into the hero stream at school had left him aching for something more. When shigaraki had mentioned he would need some sort of Guarantee of his loyalty, something only shinso could provide, well his thoughts went dark. He knew someone he had said. Someone who had the ability to heal rapidly. Someone who no hero. He didn’t realize just how intrigued Shigaraki would be at a talent like yours.
So when he spoke to you one day with his eyes in yours you didn’t feel any different than usual. You were talking to him as you normally would, only to feel your mind go blank and your conscious no longer... there. You had taken a back seat to his will, a passenger in your own mind. He led you down alleys and streets far from school, and his voice was all you could hear in your head. You stared out the windows of your own eyes, but found no way of speaking your panic, no attempt to regain control was working.
You wanted to trust the boy who had smiled at you, wanted to know that he had your best interests in heart no matter how unsettling or wrong this felt. Still as your mind stayed securely locked on the back of your mind, and your senses dimmed you realized until he let you go, you could do nothing.
You paid little notice to where you were until you were switched back to being in control of your own body, and at that point you were only aware that you were in a smoky dimly lit bar. The eyes of shinsou and someone else you had seen before were on you as they discussed you.
“This is your exchange? Really? She’s a pretty little thing” The man covered in hands said, a red eye Largely obscured from view peering out you. “What did you say she has, a regenerative quirk?” He smirked at you, and his hands inches closer to your arm. You tried not to flinch as he laid restless fingers on you, laying them down one at a time, then drumming them on your skin, never allowing all of them to rest on you at once. You could feel a thrum of energy from him, but simply watched him with trepidation.
Yours eyes met Shinsou’s who for the first time since you knew him showed obvious displeasure, his jaw working to grind his teeth, his eyes focused on the fingers thrumming against your skin. Why did he bring you here to let someone touch you? “Why are you..” you start to ask, only for him to shake his head. Your eyes focus back on the man with the hands on you, and he gives a perverse chuckle as he hears your voice.
“Isn’t she sweet, and obedient too. Not going to ask your questions?” He cocks his head to the side, and you frown. Your logical mind knows you should be screaming, but you lack the information you need to know what is going on. Perhaps it wouldn’t be the worst to ask something? Your comb through your memory, aware of seeing this man somewhere, hearing that voice.... your blood stills in your veins when the recognition hits. You know who this is.
“Why am I here?” You ask him, looking at him rather than his dancing fingers. Your voice shakes slightly, but you try your best to sound calm. You know what he could do now, and you are not looking forward to finding out how your quirk holds up against his. And with a eye to shinsou you ask him “you know this is not how you get into the hero stream right? Were we not working on that together?” Your disappointment is almost worse than your fear. If you had your notebook you would scratch him off of the top of your list of heroes you would manage someday.
He has the gall to look unashamed. “Sadly, there is little chance of that, and I got a better offer.” He said. There was a moment where his breath hitched before he resumed his unapologetic air. The other man gave a mildly manic cackle and your eyes returned to his.
“My turn! I can tell you why your here... your little friend mentioned what you can do... and my little NPC I wanted to see if you can carry my burdens...” he smirked at his little joke, and his restless fingers clamped down on your arm. There was a tingle and your arm felt his attempt to disintegrate you, your skin knit itself back together over and over, as his quirk tried to battle against your quirk. You could feel it trying to work on you, the pain of falling apart ever present as his hands touched you, but you refused to break under him, regenerating over and over as he stayed pressed against you. When he pulled away, your skin was perfect. No mark or scar. “How perfect!” He said with glee.
He brought both hands down to your face, and the pain was immense, yet no longer how long he held down, your body refused to show any damage. You cried out, you could feel what he was doing but, no matter the pain your body refused to let you feel it. It hurt, it burned. And tears streamed down your face as he laughed at you.
“Perfect! Perfect!” He said, backing away. You cried out as he let you go, and lent your head back against the chair headrest. “She was made for me...” he said, his voice hushed as he looked you over once again. Your body slumped in horror at the look on his face. He turned to Shinsou, and gave a broad grin. “Your pledge is accepted! You passed level 1! Welcome to the league. Now, do you mind getting out of here?” He said turning back to you. “I got a companion quest to start.”

Business Trip - Pt 12: Answers
Mina’s eyes finally lift from her notebook, and you are struck the beauty of the young woman - it is a beauty that would not be out of place in a fashion magazine or in a painting in some Japanese history museum. The young lawyer is wearing a short black dress with a plunging neckline, and you found your eyes wandering a little towards the delicious looking cleavage and the creamy, pale vanilla skin of her upper chest.
“I’ve already told you this, but boys aren’t my preference,” she says with a soft tone, “although I do make an exception here and there for… special men.”
“This is our proof.”
At your nod, Park Choa clicks her mouse, bringing up a picture on the large flat screen TV mounted to the meeting room wall. Seated around the large table in the middle of the room are yourself, Choa, Momo, Seolhyun, and Mina; sitting opposite your team are Tzuyu and Sana, the former with an unimpressed, arrogant look on her young features - the latter with a blank, emotionless look on hers.
On the screen is a picture of a battery pack - one of relatively common design, at least externally. But on the side is a small label; such a small thing, but something that would have a massive impact on the fate of two companies and the lives of many dozens of its employees.
“This device,” you continue, “was lent to me by one of your employees several months ago. As you will see, the label reads: Minatozaki Sana.”
A hush falls over the room at the revelation. There it was, clear as day - proof that Tzuyu’s company’s tech was stolen, and proof that Sana was complicit in the theft of said data from Seolhyun’s company.
“We have reason to believe that this device actually contained a hacking program that used the connection my cell phone had to our network to break into our servers and steal the intellectual property that you presented as your own yesterday.”
“That’s not proof at all,” Tzuyu retorts, “that could be any battery pack. There’s no proof whatsoever that it’s any sort of data theft device. For all I know, you bought that this morning and slapped a label with my employee’s name on it.”
“I figured you’d say that,” you answer, and you nod once more to Choa, who switches the display to show a Skype window. On the screen is a young woman, her blue-green hair and circular rimmed glasses making her look a little like she stepped out of an anime or video game.
“This is our IT analyst, Yoo Jeongyeon,” you say, “and she has had some time to retrieve the device from my apartment and analyze its contents. Jeongyeon?”
“The battery pack has been modified to house a hacking device,” Jeongyeon begins, adjusting the large glasses on her nose, “it’s been programmed to hack into the network of any portable device it’s plugged into, before identifying, copying, and transmitting selected data from the host device’s network to a secure server.”
“Jeongyeon, was there any specific data on the device that indicates where the data was sent to?”
“Yes. Server records indicate it was sent to a secure server in Taiwan. I’ve contacted internet service providers both here and in Taiwan, and they have corroborated the transfer of data. The secure server is housed in a building that is owned by Chou Tzuyu’s company. This is all indisputable, unedited hard data that I can send to anyone who wants to see it.”
All eyes turn to Tzuyu, and it was obvious that the young woman was expending a significant amount of effort to remain composed in the face of her accusations.
“Thank you, Jeongyeon,” you say, and the aloof young woman on the screen nods before taking a swig of what appeared to be an energy drink and closing her connection.
“This is preposterous,” Tzuyu says, dismissing Jeongyeon’s statements with a wave of her hand, “and downright offensive. We don’t have to sit here and listen to your baseless accusations. We came here out of professional courtesy, but we don’t have to sit here and simply take this.”
The young woman rises from her chair, anger twisting her youthful features into a scowl.
“Let’s go, Sana,” she says, looking at the seated Japanese girl next to her, who thus far had been silent and wearing an expressionless mask.
“Before you go,” Seolhyun says, the anticipation of revenge palpable in her voice, “you should know that we are planning to sue the shit out of you for hacking a private server, intellectual property theft, and whatever else the fuck it takes to make you regret ever messing with me and my company.”
“Miss Miyoui, if you will,” you add, and at that Mina, who is also present, reaches into her folder and produces a thick stack of paper, which she slides across the table.
“We will see you in court,” Mina says, her tone as confident as ever, “and I will beat you.”
“You? You think you can beat a multi million dollar team of lawyers in court? You, alone?” Tzuyu says, the words almost a hiss.
“Yes, me,” Mina retorts, her face as serene and calm as ever, “I will wipe the floor with you and your company, no matter how many stuck up, expensive lawyers you throw at me. And when I’m done, your company won’t want anything to do with someone who did something as stupid as steal a rival’s tech. Not only will you never work in this industry again; I’ll also make sure you end up in jail.”
“Not to mention that public opinion will against your parent company very quickly,” Hirai Momo adds, “we’ll put our proof out into the public. Social media will take it from there, and not only will your division lose any sort of foothold you may have gained in this industry - your entire parent company will take a reputation hit it probably won’t ever recover from. You’d be making some powerful enemies.”
Tzuyu’s hands have balled into fists. She is furious now, the last remnants of her discipline struggling to retain her composure. Beside her, Sana has not moved an inch, her face still expressionless.
“There is a way out of this,” you begin, “a solution that will result in a favorable result for all parties involved.”
“Oh yeah?” Tzuyu retorts, “and what might that be?”
“We will buy out your division of your parent company. That includes your entire staff and intellectual property, including, of course, the intellectual property you stole from us. We then announce the acquisition of both your division and FNC Inc. at our presentation tomorrow.”
“If we buy your division, we promise not to divulge your little theft to the public,” Momo adds, “and we gain a new division of staff and an office here in Taiwan. You gain the privilege of, well, not going to jail for intellectual property theft.”
“That’s blackmail. You still haven’t proven that we did anything. You can’t force us to sell our division to you just because you’re accusing us of theft,” Tzuyu says, although the desperation in her tone betrays the cracks in her initially impenetrable armor of confidence.
“We’re giving you the opportunity to get out of this scott free,” you answer, “everyone in this room knows you stole the tech, and we have ironclad evidence to prove it. Your choice is simple. Either throw away your entire career and face possible jail time, or swallow your pride and join our company. Who knows, you might even like it.”
The young woman bites her lip, looking very much like a cornered animal. Her fists are still clenched, her brow furrowed as she contemplates her options.
“We’ll get back to you in two hours,” Tzuyu says, and without further word, she gathers her laptop and bag before storming out of the room. Beside her, Sana rises, her face still blank - but when you lock eyes with her for a split second, you notice that her eyes have an unbearable sadness about them that breaks your heart.
The Japanese girl walks slowly to the door and leaves the room; involuntarily, your hand rises as if to beckon her to stay. But then she is gone, leaving you staring at a closed door once again.
“We have those bitches!” Seolhyun exclaims as soon as Sana leaves, “They’d be stupid not to take that deal. I really wanted to make introduce the tech myself tomorrow… but I’m just happy they’re not getting away with what they did to us.”
“Me too,” Momo agrees, “speaking of which, we need to get some logistics ready for tomorrow - assuming they take the deal, of course. We’ll need to set up the presentation to introduce both FNC and Tzuyu’s division as our new acquisitions.”
“We’ll also need to take care of the legal paperwork,” Mina adds.
“Right. Momo, you take Choa and Seolhyun and work on the presentation. Mina and I will stay here and wait for Tzuyu’s decision. In the meantime we’ll work on the legal paperwork and have a contract ready for them to sign.”
“Roger that, boss,” Momo says with a smile and a mock salute, glancing at both you and Mina before adding, “you two have fun.”
You catch a hint of suggestiveness in your girlfriend’s smile and the weighted look in her eyes - but you don’t have time to question her as she takes Choa and Seolhyun and leaves the room.
You let a sigh out and lean back in your chair as the three girls exit the room. You weren’t enirely sure how Tzuyu would react to your claims, but you were thankful that it at least looked like she was going to consider your offer.
“Well, I’m glad that’s over and done with - the rest is up to Tzuyu now,” you say.
“Agreed,” Mina replies, her expression as calm and stoic as ever as she jots down some notes in her notebook, “that went as well as we could have hoped. There’s no way they reject that deal. They’ll accept it.”
“A lot of it will be thanks to you, Miss Miyoui. You scared them out of taking us to court.”
“It wasn’t scaring them. It was a promise. I would have beaten them, no matter what they threw at me.”
“I believe it.”
“And also,” she adds, “please. Just call me Mina.”
“Sorry, Miss- err, Mina. You’re not officially an employee of JYP, so I didn’t want to assume anything. And while we’re on that topic, I know you were hired to take care of the legal matters related to our acquisition of FNC, but I’m sure you could have a job with JYP if you wanted it.”
A slim smile appears on her lips, but Mina’s eyes don’t leave her notebook.
“Why, so I can join your little group of women that you fuck at will on a daily basis?”
You are taken aback slightly by Mina’s frank statement, although at the same time you weren’t surprised given her forthright nature.
“My relationships, personal or otherwise, with my colleagues are purely consensual.”
“I’m sure they are,” Mina replies, “and I didn’t say I have a problem with it.”
“Is that so,” you answer. You smile slyly. You liked where this was going.
“Tzuyu says we have two hours. Better make the most of it.”
“And what did you have in mind, Mina?”
Mina rises from her chair, a slim smile on her perfectly shaped lips as she approaches your chair. With no further prompting or pretense, she reaches for your tie and with swift movements, she undoes the knot and slips the tie from around your neck.
You are wondering exactly what she has in mind when she folds the tie in half and presents it to you, as though she were giving you a gift.
“If you impress me, I’ll consider joining your company,” she says, “Tie me up. Strip me. Make me wet. And then, you can fuck me.”
You weren’t exactly a bondage enthusiast, having only indulged here and there with light experimentation in your younger days, but you weren’t one to turn down a gift when it was given to you, and certainly not a gift from a woman as beautiful as the one right in front of you.
You take your tie from Mina’s hands as you rise from your chair. Her eyes meet yours, and notice that her eyes are beginning to show signs of something other than businesslike indifference - there is a little bit of lust there, a little bit of need beginning to show beneath her prim, proper exterior.
You can’t resist anymore; you lean forward and bring your lips to hers. Your lips press hard against each other for only a moment, before Mina’s tongue slides against your mouth, and before you know it your tongues are duelling, pressing and swirling around each other. Her kiss is frantic, fierce, the complete opposite of her demure personality.
Mina breaks the kiss and you lock eyes with her for a moment before you are suddenly very aware of the tie in your left hand, and with a quickness and aggressiveness that surprises even you, you grasp the young woman by her slim shoulders and turn her around. Grasping her wrists, you bring them behind her back and begin to tie up her hands.
“You like being tied up, do you, Mina?”
“Mina?” she says to your surprise, “It’s Miss Miyoui to you,” she finishes. The smile on your lips widens.
“Do you like being tied up, Miss Miyoui?” you ask, finally finishing the double knot that is binding her hands together behind her back.
“Yes,” she answers, her tone a little breathier than usual.
You bring your hands to her shoulders, relishing the feel of her soft, blemishless skin - like perfect vanilla, smooth and pale. Mina’s head falls backward slightly, and you hear a soft breath of air escape her lips.
“Strip me.”
Your fingers reach the neckline of her thin, black dress, and you slowly draw the fabric down her shoulders.
“Do you like being undressed, Miss Miyoui?”
“Yes,” she answers, her tone now a soft gasp, desire building and threatening to break down the last vestiges of her demure exterior.
Finally, you draw the dress far enough down her shoulders until it is just barely covering her nipples - and with one last pull, you draw the flimsy dress down past her breasts, her soft, small mounds escaping the fabric with a small bounce.
Mina is squirming now, her arms still bound behind her back, her naked shoulders and small, perfect breasts now exposed. Your arms snake around her small frame, and you grasp both her breasts in your palms, enjoying the feel of her warm flesh in your hands. You smile as you feel her nipples hardening, her buds poking against your palms.
You capture both of her nipples with your index finger and thumb, and give the hardened buds a slight pinch.
Mina moans - the first outright sound of pleasure she has allowed to escape her mouth since you started.
“You’re mine now, Miss Miyoui,” you whisper softly into her ear.
You press forward on the young woman’s back, bending her forward until her upper body is pressed against the table. Wasting no further time, you grasp the hem of Mina’s dress and pull it up over her upraised ass, revealing more perfect, vanilla skin - and the absence of underwear. You take a moment to burn the image in your mind of the young woman bent over on the table, her hands bound behind her back, her naked save for her black dress bunched around her waist.
“No underwear, Miss Miyoui?”
“No,” she answers, pausing slightly before adding, “Eat me.”
You weren’t one to keep a woman waiting, and you drop to your knees and admire the soft, glistening flesh of Mina’s pussy for a split second before pressing your mouth to her lips and giving her a long, slow lick.
The moan that leaves Mina’s mouth tells you that she has finally cracked - gone is the demure, reserved young woman you knew from meetings and office presentations - the woman that you were currently tongue deep in was a new woman now. A wanton, lustful young thing.
Her moan encourages you, and you dive in the same way you did with the other women in your life, pressing the flat of your tongue against the lips of her pussy before dragging it up and down, stimulating her sensitive flesh with long, broad strokes. You bring a finger up to her crotch and, with your middle finger, search for and quickly find the hardened, erect bud of her clit.
The dual stimulation has turned Mina into a mewling, moaning mess, every vestige of her demure exterior now long gone - there was only pleasure now, emanating from your tongue and fingers and coursing throughout her young body. Her naked breasts are crushed against the table, and she rubs her chest on the cool wood of the table in some attempt to stimulate her nipples given her bound hands.
“Fuck! Fuck you’re so good at that,” she says, “now I know why Momo loves when you eat her out.”
You want to answer, want to tell her that wasn’t the only thing she liked about you, but you decide instead to redouble your efforts, driving your tongue as deep as you can inside her pussy and bringing your ring finger up to join your middle finger in stimulating her clit. Her juices are flowing freely now, and you gladly gather them on your tongue, the bittersweet taste of her body staining your mouth.
Your eyes are closed as you dive into her pussy, focusing all your attention on tonguing her pussy, but when you open them your eyes are drawn to the tightly clenched ring of her asshole, not even inches away from your eyes.
“My asshole,” Mina hisses, as though reading your thoughts, “my ass. Do it…”
You give Mina’s juicy, heavily leaking pussy one last lick, savoring the juices on your tongue one more time before raising your head slightly and angling your mouth to match Mina’s rear entrance. And with no further hesitation, you press forward with your mouth, your tongue reaching out and giving her clenched asshole a long, soft lick.
“Fuck!” Mina yelps at the first contact of your tongue and her most private of areas, “Yes! More!”
Your tongue almost moves of its own accord, and before you know it you are tonguing Miyoui Mina’s ass, her clenched muscle loosening slightly as she becomes used to the stimulation of her asshole. All the while, your fingers are playing with her clit, never stopping rubbing and swirling around her hard bud, the juices making her flesh slick and magnifying the pleasure emanating from her clit.
“Oh God!” Mina moans, “Oh god! Eat my ass! I’m gonna cum! Yes… right there…. Ohhh!”
Mina’s squirming, wriggling body suddenly goes taut as an orgasm wracks her young body. You continue to tongue her ass and finger her clit, albeit with a slightly slower pace, encouraging aftershocks of pleasure in her body without making her uncomfortable.
Miyoui Mina is a far cry from the ladylike, reserved lawyer she was a half hour ago - now she is a disheveled, half naked mess, bent over on the boardroom table, her juices leaking freely from her pussy and making her thighs glisten. Her face is pressed against the table, but she still finds the strength to make her next demand.
“Fuck me.”
They are words you have been waiting to hear, and you rise quickly, undoing your belt and zipper, finally freeing your fully erect shaft from your boxers. You grasp Mina’s bound wrists with your left hand and your shaft with your right, pressing the cockhead against her drenched lips, lubricating it with her pussy juices.
Mina lets out a soft gasp before she speaks with a lustful tone, “My pussy… is only for girls.”
It takes you only a split second to put two and two together. Then, adjusting your angle slightly as Mina lowers her hips to allow you better access, you press your cockhead against her tight, clenched asshole.
“...but… you can fuck my ass.”
You didn’t think there were any more arousing words in the English language, and you move your hips forward slightly, pressing your hard shaft against Mina’s ass, before you finally feel the tight ring of her anus begin to give way to you. You didn’t have too much experience with anal sex aside from your first time with Momo last week, but you were certainly eager to increase your knowledge.
Soon half of your shaft is now embedded within Mina’s ass, every square millimeter of penetration drawing a lustful moan from her lips. Your grip on her bound wrists tightens, and you pull backward slightly on your tie, pulilng her wrists and upper body back against your hips as you thrust forward - simultaneously, the thickest part of your shaft finally eases into Mina’s tight ass, and you have finally fully impaled the young woman’s asshole with your hard, thick cock.
“Fuck,” Mina says, the curse word escaping her lips in a long, drawn out hiss as her body adjusts to the new feeling of fullness. She had told you she usually slept with women, so this must have been a new or rare experience, although it occured to you given how much Momo enjoyed anal sex that it was likely not Mina’s first time.
“Enough,” Mina says, interrupting your reverie, “Fuck me already. Show me what a man can do. Fuck my ass until you fill it with cum.”
You want to say something, something that is bold or cocky, but you decide to answer her challenge the best way you know how - with action. And to that end you draw your shaft out of her body, and when only the cockhead remains, you thrust forward again, impaling the young lawyer’s asshole with the full thickness of your shaft. With Momo you took it slow, careful not to cause your girlfriend any pain or discomfort - but Mina didn’t seem to have any difficulty allowing you into her body, and so you quickly find yourself pumping in and out of her bent body with the same speed that you had when fucking another woman’s pussy.
A long, drawn-out string of moans begins to leave Mina’s mouth, accentuated at the end of every thrust into her asshole with a loud gasp as your hips meet the firm flesh of her asscheeks. Soon you are thrusting hard enough that your balls are slapping against her drenched pussy with a wet smack - Mina’s ass was much easier to fuck than Momo’s, which wasn’t surprising given Mina’s seeming comfort with anal sex.
“Oh God,” Mina says, her body rocked with each thrust on the table, “That feels so good! Your cock… your cock is so deep in me! So deep in my ass! Yes! Keep fucking me!”
You are slamming in and out her tight, hot asshole now, truly fucking the young lawyer with long, smooth strokes of your shaft, enjoying the sight of her body as it is bent over in front of you, the perfect skin of her shoulders and back flexing with effort as she absorbs each thrust.
You pull backward on your tie, pulling her bound wrists backward and lifting her upper body and shoulders slightly from the desk. Her breasts are freed from being crushed against the table, and you curse the fact that you are unable to watch as they bounce erotically with each thrust into their owner’s body. You content yourself with watching her full, round ass cheeks giggle as they are rocked with each slam of your hips into hers.
With your free hand you grasp her right butt cheek, squeezing the firm flesh, spreading it outward slightly to give you a better view of your shaft as it plunges in and out of Miyoui Mina’s tight ass. You realize that while she was comfortable with anal sex, the fact that she usually slept with women meant that she probably mainly penetrated by sex toys.
“You like… being filled with cock, instead of some toy?”
“Yes!” is Mina’s immediate reply, “A toy… a toy can’t fill me with cum.”
Her words are so erotic, so lusty, that you are momentarily taken aback by the vulgar, wanton young woman Mina has suddenly become. You decide to reciprocate, and ensure that you had fully broken her outer shell of propriety.
“You like being tied up and bent over a table while a man pounds this tight little ass of yours?”
“Fuck yes!”
You decide to take things into your own hands, so to speak, and you pull back with your left hand, pulling Mina’s upper body off the table completely until her body is almost upright - simultaneously you move your right hand around her torso and grasp her naked left breast, grabbing the entire mound with your palm and squeezing. You find yourself disappointed yet again that you weren’t able to taste her breasts earlier - but you content yourself with the fact that your new position could at least allow you to whisper directly into Mina’s ear.
“You like having your ass fucked, Miss Miyoui? You like being with a man?” you hiss.
“Yes! I love it… I’m so full.. So full with your cock. You… You’re gonna make me cum!”
“You’re such a proper little lady at work,” you hiss, pulling back even more on her bound wrists, driving her torso into an even more upright position as you tighten your grip on her breast, “but you’re not like that at all when your hands are tied and your ass is being fucked, are you?”
“No… I… I’m so close…”
“You’re not such a proper lady right now, are you, Miss Miyoui?”
“No… I… I….”
You fuck her a little harder, drawing startled little gasps from her pretty mouth. You were almost there, almost at the point of fully breaking her little facade…
“Then what are you, Miss Miyoui?”
“I’m your fucktoy! My ass is yours to fuck whenever you want!”
Mina’s reply is loud, and if you weren’t balls deep into her tight, clenching asshole then you might have been afraid that someone passing by outside would have heard. But at the moment you didn’t care - the CEO of your companies could have walked in the room and you wouldn’t have stopped fucking the young, quivering woman in your arms.
You are satisfied that you had finally broken through her demure, ladylike exterior and exposed her true nature. Now it was time to concentrate on pleasure.
“Good… I’m going to be fucking this ass quite a bit, Miss Miyoui. Do you like when I’m so deep in you?”
“Yes… I love it when I’m stretched out… Oh… Oh god. I… I’m gonna cum!”
Her slim, tight body would have been too much to handle during normal vanilla sex, but with her half clothed, arms tied behind her back as she is bent over a table, and with your shaft buried in her asshole as she is on the brink orgasm, it is far too much to handle. And it embarasses you a little bit, how quickly you have found yourself so close to orgasm yourself, but given the circumstances you weren’t exactly surprised.
“I… I’m gonna cum soon too, Miss Miyoui,” you admit, somewhat shamefully. Your shaft never stops pistoning in and out of her clenched ass, however, not that Mina minds as she nears the brink of orgasm.
“Then cum… cum with me! Fill my body with your cum... Cum inside my ass! Oh! I’m cumming!”
Mina does just that, the combination of your hand on her breast and the hard, thick flesh pistoning in and out her body driving her into an orgasm that leaves her trembling and spasming in your arms. You pull back on her bound wrists like it was some sort of leash, all in an attempt to drive yourself deeper into Mina’s willing, wanton body.
It is too much for you to handle, and you are struck with an orgasm that takes you completely by surprise - usually you knew when you were about to cum, knew when to expect that wonderful plateau of pleasure - but not this time. It is an orgasm that strikes you completely unprepared for it, and before you know it you are buried balls deep in Miyoui Mina’s body as you release stream after stream of thick, hot cum into her ass, both of your hot bodies trembling with pleasure.
You black out - nothing else exists except the pleasure that has overtaken your body. You feel the semen leaving your shaft, feel Mina’s asshole tightening around your cock, you are even aware of Mina’s long, sultry mid-orgasm moan that fills the room, but only barely - above all, there is the pleasure.
Slowly you both wind down from your mutual orgasms, and you are both left bent over the table, both breathing heavily. You gather your wits enough to slowly withdraw your softening shaft from Mina’s tight ass, savoring the feel of her body squeezing every inch of it as it exits her, leaving behind a mess of thick white semen that begins to flow slowly from her freshly fucked opening.
You grasp the young woman’s shoulders softly and turn her around so that she is facing you again, her hands still bound behind her back. You run your tongue over your lips as you notice her bound hands have thrust her chest forward, presenting her naked breasts, the firm mounds pushed up by the black dress bunched beneath her breasts.
You lean forward, bending slightly, and take her left breast in your mouth, savoring the feel of her sweat misted skin and the hard nub of her nipple on your tongue.
“Momo always said you were a boobs guy,” Mina says as she lets her head fall back, still happily stuck in that wonderful post-orgasm haze, enjoying the new sensation of your tongue on her breasts.
“I wanted to taste them, but I couldn’t with you turned around,” you say softly between licks. You bring your other hand up and squeeze her right breast, not wanting it to be left unattended.
“Maybe next time,” Mina says softly, “I won’t be turned around. Because maybe… it’ll be my pussy you’re fucking.”

“We accept your offer.”
Tzuyu’s words come as a definite relief, even if you knew they were the only real choice the young woman had of avoiding the fallout of her decision to steal Seolhyun’s tech. There is an audible sigh of relief in the room, at least from the women on your side of the table. You note, however, that Sana was absent from the room.
“We will commence formal talks after this conference. I presume your lawyer here will preside over the legal aspects?”
“I will,” Mina confirms, and you relish the fact that her normally pale skin was still a little flushed from your recent exertions.
“I also demand that I and all my staff members receive complete immunity from prosecution.”
“Done,” you answer.
There is a look of defeat on Tzuyu’s face that almost - almost - makes you feel sorry for her. Despite he audaciousness if her plans, she was still just a young girl that was trying to make a name for herself in a competitive industry, even if her methods were suspect.
“And how did your parent company take this news?” Momo asks.
“Not well,” Tzuyu replies, “I don’t think I’ll be invited to the Christmas party this year.”
“We’ll ensure they don’t do anything to harm you or your staff, Tzuyu. And you can be assured that no one else in our company will be aware of what you did. You’ll have a fresh start with us at JYP,” Momo says, surprising you a little bit with her apparent compassion. Perhaps the older woman was feeling a little sympathetic towards the vulnerable girl in front of you.
“Good. They have a reputation of being rather… cutthroat. It’s how they did so well in other industries.”
“We can take them on,” Seolhyun boasts, “there are only two other companies I know of that could possibly threaten us in this industry. Unless it’s one of them, they won’t be a problem.”
“It is,” Tzuyu says with an ominous tone, “if they decide to, they can wreck JYP without lifting a finger.”
“Then who are they?” Choa asks. Tzuyu pauses for a moment as she prepares to reveal the identity of her parent company.
“SM.”
—-
In an empty meeting room elsewhere in he conference hall, Minatozaki Sana is having a hushed conversation on a cell phone.
“Everything is going according to plan. Tzuyu’s plan was foiled. The targets found the hacking device as planned and my name on the device implicated us, as expected.”
…
“No, they still believe I’m a part of her staff. Tzuyu isn’t suspicious of me. They purchased our division as part of our plea bargain, so I’m now once again part of JYP.”
…
“Yes. I will proceed as planned. You can tell Joy she can send me the stealth hacking program when it’s ready.”
…
“Yes, I understand. Good bye, Irene.”

pregnancy pains – a. skywalker
Request: anon, Anakin Skywalker x Reader where maybe she’s giving birth to the twins and Anakin comes back but he’s not with the dark side? Also, I wanna make the Reader like Padmé.
Words: 2.1k
Summary: Representative (L/N) of Aiphos is the secret wife of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker. Her Senator friends know she’s married, but to who they have no idea. She’s also 9 months pregnant and ready to pop; however, the stress of the war isn’t making her pregnancy any better. What will become of Mr. and Mrs. Skywalker and their child?
A/N: i really do feel bad when i pump out requests so late; but, please understand i try to write as often as i can. also, Aiphos is a product of my imagination to keep accuracy on all other planets in the Star Wars universe. i’d like to add i wasn’t sure how much anon wanted the reader to be like Padmé so i tried to give them a similar speech pattern and made them both involved in politics.
-
“Here, let me help you.” Senator Bail Organa hurries to my side as I attempt and wobble out of the Senate meeting.
“Thanks, Bail.” I say as I accept his help, placing my arm around his neck while his arm goes to my side.
“You shouldn’t be flying at this stage in your pregnancy, (Y/N).” Bail reminds me as we walk out of the building and over to my speeder.
“I know, I know; but it’s only to my apartment. It’s not like I’m flying all the way back to Aiphos.” I reason.
“Ugh.” I groan as I bend over in pain. The baby is kicking again. Fiery little one, just like Anakin…
“Are you alright? Should we go to the hospital instead?” Bail asks me with concern, “The Hospital Plaza is just around the corner…”
“My water hasn’t broken yet and the contractions haven’t started, so I’m going to have to decline.” I reply with a strained voice, still in pain from the baby’s little kicks.
Bail stands between me and my speeder and grabs a hold of my arms, “Are you sure?” he asks, putting emphasis on every word.
“Yes, Bail. I think I’ll be fine; my husband returns home tonight and I’m sure he’ll take care of me.” I say to try and put Bail at ease. Earlier this evening, Anakin left to handle some Jedi business involving Master Windu and Chancellor Palpatine. He said he’d come back soon and I’m hoping soon is tonight.
“You aren’t the only one to worry about my safety; Padmé lent me 3PO so I wouldn’t have to fly alone.” I say as Bail releases my arms and my speeder is now in view.
“Mistress (Y/N)! How wonderful it is to see you!” C-3PO announces from the pilot’s seat of my speeder.
“It’s nice to see you too, 3PO. Even though we just saw each other before the meeting.” I remind the gold-plated protocol droid.
“Yes, but those meetings seem to drone on for eternity.” He replies back as he resettles into the speeder.
I giggle at his statement and look back at Bail, “Be safe.” He reminds me.
“Always am!” I respond as I walk closer to the speeder, “The next time you see me, I won’t be wearing maternity dresses anymore!” I joke as I sit beside 3PO. I hear Bail chuckle as he waves goodbye. I wave back as 3PO starts up the speeder and zooms off.
“Have you told anyone of the marriage?” I ask curiously. C-3PO and R2D2 were the only witnesses Anakin and I had at our wedding in order to keep it secret.
“Of course not, Mistress (Y/N).” He replies, “Your engagement is a secret only R2 and I have the pleasure of knowing.”
“Not even Padmé?” I ask for reassurance.
“Not even Mistress Padmé.” He confirms.
“Excellent.” I say, feeling a little more at peace knowing no one knows of our marriage.
“Will Master Anakin be there when we arrive?” C-3PO asks curiously.
“He said he would return soon; I just hope soon is tonight, but I’m not really sure…”
As soon as I finished my statement, I notice my apartment coming into view. The rest of the ride is quiet as we approach the building. 3PO lands the speeder and climbs out. He then rushes to the passenger side to aid me.
“Thank you, 3PO.”
“My pleasure, Mistress (Y/N).”
We walk inside to see Anakin meditating in front of the fireplace, the only light source in the apartment aside from the moonlight shining in through the giant window. From what I can see, he’s still wearing his Jedi robes and his hair is a mess.
“Hello, my love.” He says as he gets up from his spot to come hug me.
“Ani.” I say as I wrap my arms around him, “Did everything go ok? With Master Windu and the Chancellor?”
“Everything went…” He trails off.
I came running down the hall to see Master Windu with his lightsaber at the Chancellor’s throat.
“You are under arrest, my lord.” Master Windu says. He suddenly takes notice of my presence and looks in my direction.
“Anakin,” Chancellor Palpatine starts, “I told you it would come to this. I was right, the Jedi are taking over!” He wheezes.
“The oppression of the Sith will never return!” Master Windu assures him, “You have lost.”
“No, no, no,” The Chancellor’s voice changes from smooth and manipulative to deep and raspy, “You will die!” He shouts as he shoots lightning out of his fingers at Master Windu. He blocks it with his purple-bladed lightsaber and continues to defend himself, but struggles to gain control.
Chancellor Palpatine struggles as well, to say his next few words, “He’s a traitor!”
“He is the traitor!” Master Windu retorts as he pushes his defense against the Chancellor.
“I have the power to save the one you love.” Chancellor Palpatine wheezes as his skin begins to change from the contact of his own lightning, “You must choose!”
“Don’t listen to him, Anakin!” Master Windu urges me as he pushes his lightsaber further in the Chancellor’s direction.
“Don’t let him kill me.” Chancellor Palpatine says as the lightning begins to stop flowing from his fingertips, “I can’t hold it any longer… Anakin, help me.”
“I am going to end this, once and for all.” Master Windu states with determination in his voice.
“You can’t, he must stand trial.” I reason with him.
“And what of Count Dooku?” Master Windu inquires, “Did he not deserve to stand trial?”
I widen my eyes at his statement. I’m caught off-guard by his reminder and am rendered speechless; he has a valid point.
“Remember, it was the Chancellor that told you to kill him.” He reminds me, “Why would a member of the Senate and leader of the Republic urge you to kill him when there was another way?”
“He-he’s distracting you, Anakin!” Chancellor Palpatine quickly shouts.
“Think about it, Anakin…” Master Windu urges me to take into consideration the situation at hand, “Does ‘he was too dangerous to be kept alive’ ring any bells?”
I look up at Master Windu and he looks back at me with hope and I look down at Chancellor Palpatine and he looks up at me with fear, for he said those words to me not too long ago.
“I can sense you are torn between decisions, young Skywalker. May I add that the only reason the Council hasn’t granted you the status of Master was because we were afraid the Chancellor was using you to spy on us?” Master Windu provides, “Once this ordeal is over, the Council has decided to give you the title of Master.”
“Empty promises, Anakin! He just wants to hinder you from making the best decision!” Chancellor Palpatine shouts.
“Make the right choice, Anakin.” He says calmly, ending his argument. I think about the Chancellor and his allegiance, about the Jedi Council and their decisions, and about (Y/N) and what’s best for her.
“I understand what needs to be done, Master.” I reply and step back from the fight at hand. Master Windu nods in my direction and quickly thrusts his lightsaber into the former Chancellor’s heart. He gasps and dies moments later.
- 5 minutes later -
“… great. Everything went great.” Anakin finally states with a smile on his face.
“That’s wonderful, Ani.” I say as I begin to feel something trickle down my leg. I step back from our hug only to double over in pain.
“(Y/N)! Are you alright?” Anakin asks, worry evident in his voice.
“Yeah,” I manage to say, “my water just broke. No big deal…”
“Oh dear.” I hear 3PO say from his place by the couch.
Anakin sweeps me off my feet with ease and rushes out the door. I grunt as I hold my stomach in an attempt to take away the pain.
He kisses my forehead, “Don’t worry, I’m taking you to the hospital.” I moan in response.
He runs to my speeder and gently places me in the passenger seat. He jumps into the pilot seat and wastes no time in speeding away from the apartment.
“Ah!” I shout as the baby continues to kick me.
“The contractions… Are they close together or far apart?” Anakin asks me and I respond with another proclamation of pain.
“Close together it is.” He says, somehow going faster than he already was.
Within a couple seconds, we are outside of the Hospital Plaza. Not the best place in my opinion, since this hospital is so close to the Senate building, but who am I to complain when there’s a child pushing itself out of me?
Anakin messily parks the speeder in the hospital parking lot. He hurriedly jumps out, rushes to my side and picks me up in his arms once more, running into the hospital.
“Someone, help! She’s going into labor!” Anakin shouts in the waiting room of the hospital. I groan after his plea and within seconds, a doctor and a couple of medical droids come with a stretcher. Anakin places me on the stretcher and follows them as they push me into an all-white room with various medical equipment.
The doctor stands in the doorframe and holds his hand out in front of Anakin, “Spouse only.” He states in a deep voice.
“Well good thing I’m her husband.” I hear him reply sassily. If I weren’t in so much pain, I might have laughed.
The doctor ushers him in, closes the door and shuts the curtains to the observation window.
“Agh!” I shout as I have been doing for the past couple minutes.
By the time Anakin comes over and holds my hand, they’ve already laid me down on the bed in the room and prepared me to have this baby.
“Push.” The mechanical voice of the medical droid instructs me.
“Well what do you think I’ve been doing for the past few minutes?!” I ask, exasperated.
Anakin chuckles beside me and holds my hand. I squeeze his hand with all my might to hopefully relieve some of the excruciating pain I’m in. He bends down and whispers sweet nothings into my ear.
“It’s ok.”
“The head is visible.” The droid states.
“This will all be over soon.”
“The lower body is all that is left.” It drones.
“I’m here for you.”
I close my eyes as I focus on the sound of his voice and bringing this child into the world.
“It’s a boy.” The medical droid says as it hands the baby over to the doctor.
“Luke.” I say, still in pain. Something tells me, Luke isn’t the only baby I’m giving birth to today.
The doctor finishes cleaning up Luke and gives him to Anakin.
“Hello there…” He says as he cradles the baby.
“There is another one on the way.” The droid confirms my suspicions.
“What?” Anakin says, surprised. He looks over at me, but I’m too focused on getting this other baby out. This one is a lot less painful and comes out relatively quickly.
“It’s a girl.” It says, handing her to the doctor to get cleaned up.
“Leia.” I announce, finally done giving birth for the next couple of years.
The doctor finishes cleaning her up and hands her to me, “Congratulations, Ms. (L/N). You’ve given birth to-“
“Twins…” Anakin cuts him off with a smile on his face. He looks over at me and Leia and his smile widens.
“Why Luke and Leia?” Anakin asked curiously.
“I don’t know; those names just… spoke to me.” I decided.
“Luke and Leia Skywalker…” Anakin says, “has a nice ring to it.”
