ok so i figured out why the songs in the new disney movie Wish suck so bad - for the movie celebrating 100 years of mostly animated movie MUSICALS, they didn’t get a songwriter who writes MUSICALS. they got two POP songwriters (Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice, who’ve written for a lot of big stars like Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, etc). despite lin-manuel’s faults, that man can cook up a song and had won a tony even before hamilton. there’s a reason moana and encanto went crazy. the anderson-lopezes made frozen and frozen II a HIT. maybe if they didnt have them chained to a desk writing two more frozen movies they could’ve worked on Wish instead. the ICON alan menken completed his EGOT from the daytime emmy he won for writing a song just for the tangled TV SERIES in 2020, and they couldnt even get him back?! for the movie celebrating 100 years of animated musicals?!!!

one of the directors of the film is Chris Buck, who did Tarzan - that movie only really has one or MAYBE two songs sung by the characters, and is mostly a soundtrack by Phil Collins instead. but thats a FULL soundtrack that was supposed to be pop the whole way through, not a musical.

one of the only times they got a pop songwriter to do an animated musical was Elton John for the Lion King, but he went on to write several popular musicals after that.

they got a big Broadway star like Ariana Debose, and a big Hollywood star who can really sing like Chris Pine, on that movie and gave them POP composers? for the 100th anniversary? this is the studio that made HAMLET WITH LIONS and a BOOK BY VICTOR HUGO into legendary animated musicals. what the FUCK happened? which executive made this stupid ass choice?

Total Drama Wedding Rush (Alenoah fic I'm workin on)

THE ALENOAH BRAINROT PEOPLE 🥴🥴🥴 This one is super self indulgent I think, it's just me wanting to write them falling hopelessly in love with each other in the most inopportune situations I can throw at them 😛

This is basically a crossover of all TD series in a way, and although the focus is on the two stubborn geniuses, some of my favorite ships are definitely there 🥰🥰

So here what I got so far:

Set maybe 5 years after Total Drama Island reboot, TDI contestants are around 35 years old while the reboot contestants are over 20 (LIKELY NOT CANON SHUSH 😅)

Total Drama Wedding Rush is a coupled race (Chris is totally NOT still salty about not hosting The Ridonculous Race and he is NOT retaliating with this show 🤥), with a bit of a McLean twist later on...

There's a million for grabs, obvi 🤑🤑

Couples will go through wedding-related challenges, wearing suits and dresses, tasting tests (oh boy), meeting the parents, all the way to the walk to the altar

It's not a real wedding though

Seriously Chris cannot stress this enough, he would never lie about this

... no, for real, it's not an actual wedding 😅

Chris wanted to make it real and hide it until the end to scare to death some contestants but his stupid marketing agent said no

Noah decides to join one last reality show with Owen before committing to his new job

All the most iconic couples of all TD series are allowed, Noah didn't think him and Owen were gonna get in but they did

Deadpool & Wolverine

Just my raw thoughts not a review or anything

BE WARNED, THERE WILL BE SPOILERS

It’s been a while since I left the theater immediately wanting to rewatch the movie I just saw but Deadpool & Wolverine somehow managed to succeed at the task with flying colors and while it’s easy to tell it’s not for everyone, if you are a chronically online person that likes Marvel enough to keep up with rumors and developing projects, this movie is a love letter to you. The movie begins with the thing that had everyone worried the most, how will this movie work while also not tarnishing Logan, well the answer is Deadpool find Wolverine’s skeleton and proceeds to use it to kill like 100 TVA guys as he dances to Bye Bye Bye by N*Sync in probably my favorite action set piece in MCU history (maybe it���s recency bias but I really did like it a lot), it's ridiculous, it’s funny and fully gets you on board with the tone of the movie while also dropping the opening credits in a memorable set piece which I would compare to the iconic Devil Trigger opening of Devil May Cry V just with a very different tone. After this opener we flashback to catch up with Deadpool and see him very down on his luck as not only has he given up superheroing but Vanessa left him and he now works a dead end job as a used car salesman, the movie doesn’t linger on this for long as we get to a small celebration of Wade’s birthday with all of the Deadpool cast from the previous movies making an appearance before the TVA interrupts and takes The Merc With A Mouth to their headquarters to give him the signature new costume for a new sequel and pitch him the idea of joining the MCU which he seems on board with until they mention his universe being destroyed which upon further explanation we learn is because of the loss of their “anchor being” which is a person so important to that universe that without them it starts to slowly deteriorate until death in this case that would be James “Logan” “Wolverine” Howlett as portrayed by Hugh Jackman through all the previous Xmen films ending with his death in Logan.

And so begins Deadpool’s journey through the multiverse to find a replacement Logan in a roguish attempt to save his universe stumbling upon many iconic points in Wolverine’s history such as the X hanging, the Hulk fight and what I thought was General james Howlett but sadly I was wrong, that said we still get a few other versions of Wolverine like a height appropriate version of Jackman as well as a surprise cameo version played by Henry Cavill. All this comes to an end when Deadpool find a drunk Wolverine fucked up enough that he can take him back only for the TVA representative Paradox to explain to him that this is not how this works, that is in fact the worst Wolverine and he wants that universe destroyed ASAP so he is gonna hurry this along by sending them both to the Void from Loki. The bulk of the movie takes place here and it’s mainly an excuse to have a ton of memorable cameos as right of the bat we meet Chris Evan as Johnny Storm reprising his role from the 2005 Fantastic Four as well as almost every minor villain in the Xmen franchise until they are taken to meet our main villain Cassandra Nova who is played expertly by Emma Corrin and has some wicked powers that enhance her presence. Skipping a little both Deadpool and Wolverine escape the grips of Cassandra fight a lot and then meet the resistance compromised of Dafne Keen’s Laura/X-23 from Logan, Wesley Snipes’ Blade from his late 90s early 00s trilogy, Jannifer Garner’s Elektra from Daredevil and her own movie in the early 00s and Channing Tatum as Gambit from a doom project film that just never happened after being stuck on development hell for years. This dumb group of misfits is the heart of this movie, as they start an assault on Cassandra Nova to help Deadpool and Wolverine we get a showcase of what makes them all so great or in the case of Gambit what could have made them so great as they touch on every aspect that made them cool with Blade even repeating his iconic ice skating line as well as fixing the issues the character had previously like with Elektra in just a great action sequence that is also gonna be an all timer before they are teleported back to their reality by an unwilling Cassandra who happens to have one of the teleporting rings from Doctor Strange which she uses to also come to their reality so she can absorb the timeline destroying bomb and gain even more power because she is just a girl boss like that I guess. To do this, she employs like a good 50ish Deadpool variants that we know get to see our main duo fight with Jackman finally putting on the iconic cowl which just makes it so much better as they manage to kill all the Deadpools before realizing that they also have Wade’s signature healing factor which means we are stuck here forever but then the unexpected happens as Peter shows up and apparently all Deadpools love their Peters and he begins to be celebrated which allows our main characters to go and try to stop Cassandra. Upon finding Paradox the duo learns that the only way to stop the telepath now is by fusing the dark matter and the normal matter reactor which would kill them so they prepare for the worst before Deadpool tricks Wolverine into staying outside and goes for the sacrificial play as he struggles to make it before Logan manages to break in and gives Wade his hand and stabs his claw into the reactor triggering the reaction which causes an epic orchestral choir version of Madonna’s Like a Prayer to start playing as we see both our heroes hanging on as the machine starts to beat Cassandra and eventually kills her before it all blows up and the timeline’s health is completely restored. The movie has a dumb little fakeout trying to convince you they both died but it’s short because we know they are built different and they come back to wrap up the film before deciding to get some shawarma and then Deadpool asks Wolverine if he would just like to stay with him to which he agrees as we see both sharing another meal with Blind Al before the camera turns to their masks and the movie wraps.

The audience for this movie might be niche but as someone that is (un)fortunately in it I had a blast and loved every second of it, I can more easily look past all it’s flaws and weird inconsistencies like wtf even are anchor beings because the movie was made for the very obsessive rumor crazed fans like me to have a good time and I would be lying if I said getting something like this wasn’t incredible. I loved this movie and will probably continue to even if I do start noticing more of it’s flaws. It might not be the highest most intrinsically made piece of filmmaking but sometimes you don’t need that and just a lot of heart will take you there and this movie has that in strides. The credits go through a lot of b roll and blooper footage from all the Fox films in a nostalgic but also sort of reverend way mourning the past but also celebrating all that it did, the Fox universe was not perfect but it definitely got the perfect send off.

-- It's a show with many iconic lines, but are there any lines or scenes that were particularly memorable to you?

T: When I'm playing Yuuri, I don't remember it very well. I have memories of coming to the studio, and then the recording starting, but... When I work with Suwabe (Jun'ichi)-san, I trust the Yuuri I've created and I immerse myself in my role without thinking too much. That's why, when I was watching the anime as it was airing, often my reactions were like: "So that's how I acted!" "Eh? Did I really do it like this? Don't remember this"... When I'm watching the screen, I'm watching 100% from a viewer's perspective - like, "Victor has a nice butt" for example (laugh). And watching from this perspective - the scene in episode 10, when Victor and Chris must have been so cold in that pool. It was a very comical scene that made me smile. At the same time, they are so young, still in their twenties, but in figure skating world they are veterans past their peak and this scene shows how ruthless it is. Every time, while I'm watching the show I'm impressed how amazing it is, because every detail - why this scene is included, why these characters are here - has a reason.

U: Each time Yurio appears on screen, he fires up a killer line, so I remember most very well. Yurio's "Ba--ka!" in the first episode was very intense, and it appeared again in his monologue during his FS in the final episode - it's become a line, I can't forget. And, "If I can win just by selling my soul to you, I can give it to you together with my body, as much as you want" when he met with Lilia or "I'll make borsch out of you in Moscow, you pig bastard!" after Yuuri and Victor's declaration of victory... It was personally fun for me to say Yurio's lines.

Isaac is an autumn and leans towards woody orientals and, to a lesser degree, floral oriental; Edward is a summer and leans towards aquatic and citrusy notes; Drew could be an autumn or a spring and leans towards woody and soft oriental notes; Nevin is an autumn or a winter and leans towards orientals and soft orientals, Chris is a spring or a winter and leans towards dry woods and aromatics (and probably gourmands tbh), and Barry is a spring who leans towards greens and citruses. good lord that was a lot but were not done yet because i have a few actual colognes picked out for some of them :)

Santal 33 for Isaac; simple and woody, a little spicy and a little floral; not super complex, but this fragrance is super iconic amongst fragrance lovers.

Black Phantom for Chris; I can't NOT give a gourmand cologne for Chris. That would be borderline criminal. The notes of alcohol and tobacco align quite nicely with his daddy issues if i do say so myself. (Also, Ky mentioned ages ago that Chris would be the coffee lover of the boys, and i just remembered that years later)

Kingdom of Dreams for Nevin; When i fucking tell you it took me 7 million years to find a good smoky cologne for Nevin. Jesus H Christ. Anyways. Warm, earthy, and smoky notes just give me an image of either a bonfire or a ritual in the deepest part of the woods gone horribly wrong. either way, it's fitting for him, and i love it.

Light Blue for Barry; One of. the hottest colognes I've ever had the pleasure of smelling. 100% a Hot Guy cologne, I, too, would trust my darkest secrets and personal information to a guy if he was wearing this. 10/10 I would wear it, but unfortunately, it's not a fragrance for me.

Acqua di Gio for Edward; A very, VERY popular cologne, truly iconic, he is the moment, i swear to god 90% of guys have owned this cologne at some point, but it is popular for a reason. I think it would he hilarious if Felix also wore this simply because it fits almost every category of guy.

and lastly, Dead Sexy for Drew; The fragrance notes on that image simply say "woody," so you would assume the vanilla and sweet notes would be dominant ones, but this 100% smells like moss on decaying trees in the most Drew way imaginable. I can not believe this wasn't tagged with aromatic because that is absolutely the best way to describe it. It smells like how the sun dries the moss on old trees after days of heavy rain, and it's one of my favorites.

felt like talking about megaten demons again so here’s some official art of demons based on mostly american horror/sci-fi.

list of names n extra notes:

audrey (audrey ii from little shop of horrors), betelgeuse (beetlejuice from… y’know, beetlejuice), chris the car (christine the car from christine), nickelwise (pennywise from it), friday (jason voorhees from friday the 13th), franken (frankenstein’s monster from frankenstein), terminator (similar to the t-800 from terminator), scanner (likely a reference to the movie scanners), and hierophant (pinhead from hellraiser).

yeah hierophant is an alternative nickelwise which is why i’m putting it here despite the hellraiser franchise spawning from britain. idk how hierophant got that name since i don’t remember anything in at least the first hellraiser that could warrant the alternative name. (could’ve called it idk spikehead if they wanted to avoid copyright.) technically this might not be the first time a demon’s design was inspired by cenobites as lucifer’s infamous redesign for 4 closely resembles them. similar reasoning for franken, being an english work. like stated before, most of these are taken from american works, especially stephen king.

there’s more stephen king demons, though like many enemies exclusive to persona 1 and is/ep, only spritework exists, my personal favorite being carrie. kinda a shame there’s been no character or persona in persona inspired by her, since the og book and film adaptations are the trippiest “dangers of extreme religious worship”/child abuse is wrong/anti-bullying things i’ve ever seen. (there’s also a movie sequel that’s basically the first with less religious extremism and more goth icon/dangers of frat boy culture/really good rock backing tracks.) idk the concept of psychic girl who gets bullied a ton feels like it would be right at home as an atlus rerelease extra girl.

of course terminator sticks out too. when it comes to forgotten smt demon, terminator is an icon in that department. outside of the guns being the same and being (presumably) a robot (idk i haven’t gotten around to playing smt 2 yet but there’s a lot of more mechanical demons based on all the art i’ve seen), the name is the closest it really is to resembling the t-800s. idk to me it feels like it’s different enough that bringing it back in at least one future megaten game wouldn’t be that much of an issue compared to other horror icon references. they could just change the guns/ditch the guns altogether and change the name. really cool overall.

scanner is another weird one that i kinda wanna see again just because it sounds like it could be cool. dude only appears in smt 1, and while fan wikis aren’t super reliable sources, because it gave off that “this has to be some reference to a cheesy 80s movie” vibe, i dug into the origins more. yeah there’s a canadian fic called scanners and yeah scanner is 100% based on the whole idea of scanners in the film. never seen it nor heard of it, but hey the director, david cronenberg, also directed the fly so it’s probably a fun watch.

friday’s design is technically wrong though it’s also kinda not. despite jason most often using a machete (and preferring to kill horny teens), a lot of references have him using a chainsaw.

chris the car is technically not completely gone. of course the idea of ghost drivers and the like in media are nothing new (though the car itself is the killer in christine) so for all i know i’m overthinking it or it’s a coincidence, but oboroguruma—a demon exclusive to dsrk 1 and 2–seems to take some design inspiration, having a similar destroyed bumper/grill with an exposed motor.

lastly, while not pictured here or anything, something i found out one time is that lucifer’s favorite fake name, louis cyphre, is a reference to the novel falling angel/its film adaptation, angel heart, though none of the various disguises resemble how he looks in the film. idk i found that an interesting tidbit.

kaneko was apparently into western media (which is unsurprising) so that’s likely the reason there was so many of these movie references during the earlier days of megaten. what i’m sure is due to copyright, many of these older demons never appeared again. copyright law does vary in different places and i’m sure for the few jjba fans who are reading this, you know just how lax japan is in comparison likely due to being western stuff and most copyright holders don’t have that much of an international grip. unless you’re disney. with the whole localization effort atlus might’ve not wanted to have to change a bunch of shit which i don’t blame them for. though with the existence of nickelwise and hierophant coming from tokyo mirage sessions, a pretty recent game (released in 2015 and rereleased on the switch in 2020) that doesn’t seem to have run into copyright issue or had to take them out in the rerelease as far as i’m aware, it’s not entirely impossible to see anything similar again. it is kinda sad though.

I was thinking about How I Met Your Father (the since-canceled How I Met Your Mother spinoff starring Hilary Duff) and how the series kind of set up a storyline that was aiming for an unconventional ending instead of the nuclear family ideal. Sophie is played in flash forwards by Kim Cattrall, the eternal icon of single ladies everywhere, and Sophie seems to have a great life. She's a successful photographer, has a fabulous NYC apartment, a great relationship with her adult son, and is unashamed of her youthful shenanigans. She does not wear a ring and it's unclear if she has a partner. It became clear as the show came to an end that he was raised by both parents, though they never clarified if they raised him as a couple.

Sophie is goals AF. Who wouldn't want to be her?

The show had a small fan base, but from what I could tell they HATED Adult Sophie and constantly begged for Kim Cattrall to be kicked off the show. They didn't care that Sophie seemed like she might be fine not having a partner after all, because they saw that as the only possible ending for her. They also constantly complained that Adult Sophie wasn't mom material, even though her son was an adult. If she didn't fit a stereotype, they didn't want her.

Now I go back to the original subject of the show, which is Sophie's love life. She has an on-and-off relationship with Jesse (played by Chris Lowell), a sardonic and somewhat pretentious musician (he is clearly intended to be the "Ted" of the show). However, after the first season one of the writers got fired and announced that their friend Sid, who owned the bar they all hung out at, was in fact the father. Sid was affable and down-to-earth (the "Marshall" of the show) and also in a long-distance marriage, so he wasn't a romantic prospect for Sophie in the show storyline. It seemed to me that the show was leading towards an endgame where Sophie has a baby with Sid, but they don't end up together, and maybe she gets together with Jesse later (they could explain his absence by saying he was on tour) or stays single.

The fans objected to this fiercely. Sid and Sophie had to end up happily ever after or else! It didn't seem to matter that she seemed to live alone and seemed happy without a partner and spoke warmly of her baby daddy (whoever he was). They kept insisting Jesse had to die so Sophie and Sid could end up together. Jesse could not cope with breaking up with Sophie and having her get together with one of his friends. It didn't matter that not only had he and Sophie already gotten together, broken up, and still hung out with each other in season one, but that two other people in their friend group had done so as well and no one needed to die. It's the reaper for poor Jesse or else, so he can get out of the way of the nuclear family that it's not clear that Sophie even wants.

The show ended with Sophie and Jesse giving it another go and Sid breaking up with his long-distance wife. It's not clear that it ever got decent ratings (no streaming numbers were ever released, and it didn't chart). I'm not mad about the cancellation: Hulu gave it a shortened first season, then gave it a longer second one where the show got much better but it appears the numbers didn't improve. They tried. I also think Duff maybe wasn't that enthusiastic about it: she had a fourth baby about nine months after the show was canceled and hasn't mentioned it since. It seems she maybe wanted to focus on something else. I think in the long run, the show's audience just could not deal with the type of show it was. They wanted a conventional happy ending and the show just wasn't heading there. Neither was HIMYM, I guess.

The show overall wasn't brilliant, but it was enjoyable and I liked the characters and even though most of the other fans hated it, I liked that it seemed that the show was aimed to embrace an unconventional happy ending where everyone would remain 100% alive (very important!) and on good terms with each other. That seems a more realistic dynamic than the picket fence stuff, and I'm sad to have missed out on the chance for it.

182 Days of TPN - Day 182

Epilogue: "Dreams Come True"

I'm gonna be honestly with y'all, no matter how many times I've read through this chapter over the last couple days to try and prepare myself, all my thoughts and comments are still so similar to what I originally wrote two years ago. I doubt anything I say now could top it but I'll apologize in advance if I really do sound like a broken record this time since my feelings regarding this beautiful finale really haven't changed since then. I'll start off with saying that I am a tiny bit bummed that we never got the chance to see the children explore the large city they arrived in, but the second season's ending slideshow sorta filled in that need for me. While the city is definitely a complete contrast to what they were used to living in back in the demon world, I love they all decided to create their own little village around where Emma lives. That'll definitely make her feel more at ease with being somewhere she's familiar with and I'm sure a majority of the kids fancy the wildlife surrounding them too, especially Ayshe and the dogs. Let's not forget how impressive it is that these kids were able to build so many houses on their own as well! And the idea of them taking turns to visit Emma so she doesn't get overwhelmed with so much attention at one given time makes me so happy. Speaking of our girl, she looks so pretty! She definitely looks like the Emma we've come to know and love with that big smile on her face (even if seeing her without her iconic 63194 still upsets me a little) while looking fondly at new photos of her large family. Sure, anyone in this world could've taken the photos, but of course I headcanon that it was Ray who purchased a new camera to do so.

Emma's face here is damn hysterical and Phil looks so proud of himself for surprising her. Seeing these young kids casually riding on top of a plane that large is truly quite a remarkable sight, but she had to at least hear that thing flying closer, yea? No way something that huge can sneak up on someone.

It is so darn cute how the younger kids act like buying a plane that size and flying it everywhere they go is totally normal. Their chill attitude has poor Emma completely speechless. I'm so proud of her for learning everyone's names though, not only by recognizing their faces but their voices too as she knew it was Phil calling to her from outside. Seeing Violet become a pilot is surprising but the job fits Oliver very well since he was typically seen holding onto a plane toy during numerous Goldy Pond flashbacks. Looks like he achieved his dream and I'm happy for him!

I'm even more excited to see Chris feeling 100% better and finally reuniting with Emma! It's sweet how he still loves her so much regardless her lost memories. I'm only noticing now but it appears Jemima even brought flowers for Emma? Ahh, these kids are too precious for words!

It's crazy how they're able to visit so many different places and experience countless new things all in the span of one single day, but I suppose traveling is pretty simple with a plane like that, not to mention how this world doesn't have any national borders to worry about. Seeing Yvette get inspiration and sketch everything she sees is adorable and of course you have Ray being the strict older sibling who makes sure everyone else behaves while out in public. I still wish more of the Goldy Pond kids were invited to join the trip, but I understand how meaningful it is to see all the GF escapees finally live out their dreams which they shared with us at the very beginning of the story.

One of the most ridiculous and funniest things this extra chapter reveals to us and Emma is how Norman became the leading man behind some huge multipurpose company. I know his motive was to act independently from the Ratri clan (which is fair because I wouldn't wanna rely on those bastards either) but at least have the company be a fresh idea in his mind or a little new, not hit us with his total success right outta the gate! I can accept this life for him further into the future for sure, but not at 15/16 years old! You're still a child sir! Dude must have really loved hearing others refer to him as "boss." Vincent would obviously be okay with that and I imagine Ray making fun of Norman each time, or jokingly calling him "emperor" like he did in one of volume 15's extra pages. Speaking of my boy, he looks way too chill and perhaps unbothered about this whole idea, or maybe he's just so used to his friends having crazy idea that he's become immune and knows deep down there's no way he can change their minds once they get this passionate about something. Even though this chapter is primarily focused on the GF children, it's nice to learn more about what Nigel and Sony are up to nowadays with their new roles.

Hearing how Norman was capable of skipping grades and essentially graduating is the most believable thing about this page. I'm sure the schools in the human world were nothing compared to the difficult tests he passed with ease at GF and Lambda. I'm relieved he and the rest of the Lambda crew are healthy as well, but I can't imagine him recovering while simultaneously constructing a large company from the ground up. Perhaps he focused on getting better first and then started on his career path, but then I'd have a harder time believing this boy managed to do so in less than two years, depending how long it took for him to fully recover beforehand. Norman is definitely a force to be reckoned with.

Moving onto everyone's wishes now and ooohhh my, the girls look simply gorgeous!! I love each of their outfits so very much! I especially like how often Anna has her hair up in that ponytail too. It suits her and she's beautiful! And it's adorable how she and Gilda pull Emma along with them so they can all take advantage of the 3-for-1 deal. Emma looks great in her new outfit too but I very much prefer her previous one, only because it's reminiscent of her GP out a little bit. So happy our little musician was able to witness an opera too. I've been to several Broadway plays and musicals before but seeing an opera is still on my checklist for sure.

I gotta give kudos to all the children because while it's certainly insane how they're hitting everyone's dreams all in one day, not once do they ever look exhausted. They're having the time of their lives and are beaming with excitement no matter if they're fulfilling their wish or someone else's. Some of their wishes are really simple too if ya think about it, like a handful are things us readers could try out for ourselves, but after all the drama they fought through in the demon world, they absolutely deserve to enjoy everything this world has to offer them. I'm once again loving Ray being that caring older brother who makes sure his younger siblings don't exert themselves. Not to mention how damn hilarious it is to see him not even flinch while touring the haunted house. After the traumatizing childhood he lived through and the wacko world of the Seven Walls, nothing should frighten my boy, so I'd like to imagine he only entered the haunted house to look out for the younger child like Rossi and Alicia who are absolutely regretting their life choices. What matters is that Yvette is loving every moment of her wish and possibly laughing at her sibling's expense.

Despite mentioning how we could visit such places ourselves, I have yet to actually go watch an official soccer game, visit a hot spring or eat lunch in such gardens. I mean, I visited such botanical gardens down in the city but not once have I ever had a fancy picnic there! These young kiddos are out here making me jealous for real. I still find it so amusing that Rossi, a child who had fled from actual demons before, is amazed by dinosaurs. I guess it would be interesting to see such creatures whether they're alive or not. As of this previous weekend I can say I finally rode one of those old style trains as well, but Phil is way more excited about the adventure than I could ever be. So glad this moment of his was sorta animated, though he wasn't bouncing in his seat as wildly as he is here.

Everyone has these grand experiences in mind for their wish and Norman is over here just vibing with his two favorite people. It's real definitely simple compared to everything else but with how often the trio was forcefully separated throughout the story I know how much he doesn't wanna feel that pain ever again.

While I love how excited Emma was upon seeing the giraffes, I'm certain her reaction was due to seeing these animals up close for the first time. Of course I'd be ecstatic if our girl would slowly gain back some of her memories over time, they choose to show us the anxieties she probably feels every day about whether or not she's really Emma deep down and if she should act like the girl her family loves so much or just be her new self.

Phil being that one good boy who chooses to focus on Emma and her sudden mood switch while she's battling herself in her head.

I wanna say "oh sweetheart, you're anything but alone," but I know her amnesia makes her feel as if she's isolated from her family by not being able to remember every detail about them, the experiences they shared, or her true feelings. She can imagine this giraffe wish would've made her old self happy, since everyone else's wishes brought such big smiles onto their faces, but that's because they all wished for these kinds of moment their entire lives. New Emma is hearing about this dream for the first time and has no clue on how to react to a wish that isn't truly her own. She's probably even feels a little scared that she won't come across as genuine about the idea and she doesn't wanna disappoint her family by not living up to their expectations of what the original Emma would've done in her situation now. It really breaks my little heart to see her doubt herself so much when she literally has the greatest family in the world who would accept her regardless of what she acts like or feels.

One might think that Emma yelled so loudly to try to convince herself and her family that she's really excited about this wish, but to her surprise, she's rewarded with beautiful laughs. Once they arrived, Emma asked if her dream was to see a giraffe but no one bothered to correct her about how original Emma always wanted to ride one instead. To see this Emma reach deep down into her heart and shout with such confidence about what she really wanted to do is perfect in every way, so little does she know that her reaction was exactly what her family expected of her and they couldn't be more delighted to hear such words come from her again.

I'm in love with her adorable, surprised face and how she's in complete awe to learn that perhaps she and the original Emma are more alike that she's realized.

Aahhh it thrills me to no end that this little joke from all the way back from the first chapter is exactly how this series ends. We're coming fill circle baby!

Favorite panel/moment:

Oh no way, Ray's wish as my favorite? Wow, who could've possibly guessed that? Not to show any dislike towards the Mona Lisa or anything, but I'm very glad the story chooses to show us the kids visiting the Sagrada Familia way better. The architecture of this damn thing is impressive and it's insane how it looks this breathtaking despite it not being completely finished yet.

More importantly, this smile of Ray's is the most precious and beautiful thing I've ever set my eyes on! He's probably filled with so much emotion just by standing in a place he never imagined himself to be. He believe he was gonna die a long time ago but now that all his trauma is behind him and he fought his way to freedom, he's so grateful he's alive to actually see this gorgeous structure actually in front of him and realize that all the hardships he fought through alongside his family was truly worth all the effort. This face of his has absolutely lived rent free in my head these past couple years.

BEST GIRL!! I am so incredibly happy and proud of you that you achieved your dreams!! Truly inspirational and she undoubtedly keeps her top spot as my favorite shonen protagonist.

And with all that, I can finally say: End of series.

Seriously though, thank y'all so much for reading through all this, whether you were here from the very start back in April or ya caught interest somewhere down the line, I appreciate every single one of you! I dunno exactly when these posts went from a couple short comments to full length chapter reviews, so I apologize for all my rambling since I honestly didn't intend to write out such long posts. I literally couldn't help it. The love I have for this series is as strong as ever and I'm very surprised that even after these last couple years I still somehow manage to learn or notice new stuff about this world and these characters. One of the many benefits to reading through this story at a slower pace I suppose, and wouldn't you know it? Today is the perfect day to experience it all over again from the beginning.

anything goes is my favourite musical ever, and i was wondering who would play who if cornley ever put on a production of it! the casting fit so perfectly that i thought i would share my findings with the world (of tumblr). so without any further ado, here is anything goes, goes wrong!

JONATHAN HARRIS as BILLY CROCKER

honestly perfect casting on chris’ part. jonathan definitely has the skills to take on such a major role as the leading man, plus he shares a lot of similarities with billy’s personality! now we just have to hope he can get through those pesky doors…

SANDRA WILKINSON as RENO SWEENEY

sandra is THE girl for this role. she has the star persona, the perfect level of juuust teetering on being too overdramatic, and of course the strength and dedication to take on a role this large. you just know she will work so hard on this role and absolutely perfect it! well, as long as there are no snags in the actual show that is.

MAX BENNETT as LORD EVELYN OAKLEIGH

now, who to cast as the overly smiley guy who is a bit silly and needs to be absolutely enamoured with reno? why not the overly smiley guy who is a bit silly and is absolutely enamoured with the person playing reno! you could not find a role more suited to max bennett if you TRIED.

VANESSA WILCOCK-WYNN-CARROWAY as HOPE HARCOURT

vanessa has the much-needed sweetness that is crucial in a role like hope harcourt! although being nervous at first, she can definitely take on a role of this size, as her more recent roles in play of the week have shown. she has also undertaken roles with an underlying defiance before and this one is no different, definitely a character that suits her skill set! plus, she 100% has the high vocal range suited for this role.

ROBERT GROVE as MOONFACE MARTIN

ohhh robert is going to LOVE this role. the undercover gangster who is pretty crabby but with a soft spot? and he gets to carry a gun and be a humorous role? this will probably be his favourite character that he’s ever played.

ANNIE TWILLOIL as ERMA LATOUR

the fun-loving, flirty, confident female icon? are we describing annie or erma here? this role gives annie the chance to show off and let her true self shine. and, of course, she can flaunt her impressive set of pipes in buddie beware!

DENNIS TYDE as ELISHA WHITNEY

whoever could play the bumbling idiot? well, why not cast: a bumbling idiot! ‘nuff said.

LUCY GROVE as EVANGELINE HARCOURT

they needed a woman to play this role, and it was small enough of a part that they thought maybe lucy would be up for a challenge. with a bit of coaching from robert and sandra on (over)acting, she could play this character perfectly well! fingers crossed she manages to overcome her stage fright! and if not, the character is mostly scared all the time anyways?

CHRIS BEAN as SHIP’S CAPTAIN

an extremely small role for chris for once! but the cast really fit so perfectly, how could he not have them play the characters he gave them! honestly, he is extremely proud of his casting decisions. just sneak in a little multiroling for the remaining characters (or maybe getting some of the stagehands to join in? plus he could always contact francis to play the purser! could he even convince trevor to be henry t dobson?), then find out if they really need a chorus anyways, and this will be his best show yet! and of course if something goes wrong he could always, well, just step in as one of the other characters… nobody knows but he has secretly been learning billy crockers lines……

Brick McArthur Headcanons (Total Drama)

Going off a pride post I saw on Twitter last month, there was a fair bit of critical analysis arguing that Brick could be trans. Largely with his conflicting interests and how they're shown in the actual show (fashion, military, discipline, etc.) I think he does have something in that ballpark, but unlike what one may believe, I think he's incredibly comfortable with it post-TDROTI--- he's a he/they icon who dresses as he pleases! (Exhibit A: STRESS COUTURE!)

Additionally, I think him, Anne-Maria and Dakota were able to bond over fashion, and the two of them are his go-to second opinions when it comes to anything he designs

He is a SCHEDULER, and I mean this in the most extreme way possible. He likes to have a set routine, but also proper direction, so he has an incredibly detailed calendar with ALL of his tasks.

His fear of the dark came largely from the influence of other cadets and the soldiers at his camp, because this is an easily influenced man with notable weaknesses and he is gullible!! I imagine the typical campfire ghost story scene.

Despite the tension after ROTI, he managed to keep contact with Jo and Lightning. Their rivalry became a lot friendlier after the competition, and Brick frequently helps them plan outfits they'd be comfortable in! (ex. Jo's discomfort with overly feminine things and Lightning's physical changes thanks to the finale)

He takes his mom out to dinner at least once a month :)! They have a couple places they frequent and the staffs know them by name.

His internal clock and compass are extraordinary, he always knows which direction he's going and can estimate the time by how he's feeling.

Brick is the most AWKWARD person to be in a car with, purely because his driving routine alone involves him BLASTING confidence anthems and classic shower tunes and him PASSIONATELY singing along, which he actively does not do if he's with anyone else. (He refuses to turn on the radio sometimes when he has passengers in case they're accidentally blasted with ABBA or Katy Perry. It has happened with Jo once. He has never recovered.)

He does not know how to use chopsticks properly. He tries, oh he tries, but he just can't get the hang of it. But he never asks for a fork instead, just extra napkins :,)

He uses mugshots of Chris McLean as target practice (and used them when he was teaching Jo and Lightning to shoot recreationally) (its very good therapy) (especially after all stars)

My favorite solo from each main character on glee (because why not)

SUE: Vogue. “WILL SCHUESTER I HATE YOU”

KURT: Rose’s Turn. Chris Colfer rarely got songs that highlighted ALL his vocal strengths. This song used everything. He had a strong head voice, an amazing mix, and he can EMOTE WITH EVERY INCH OF HIS LIFE. No wonder he got the Golden Globe.

QUINN: This Is A Man’s World. This scene is ridiculous, but out of context the song absolutely slaps. Diana can BELT and she deserved to do it more.

ARTIE: Stronger. Probably my favorite Britney song. Kevin ate. That is all.

PUCK: Only the Good Die Young. This song is so fun and I think Puck’s voice is very underrated. A good ol’ jam. Thank you for repping the Jewish community king ❤️

WILL: Sway. It’s a shame that we never talk about his voice because HOLY SHIT MATTHEW MORRISON IS INCREDIBLE. This man is so talented and we never acknowledge it because of Will Schuester’s shenanigans.

BLAINE: Somewhere Only We Know. You can hate Blaine all you want but you can’t deny the POWER of this song. The love in his eyes is sickening I am not okay right now

FINN: I’ve Gotta Be Me. Given the fact that Cory didn’t have any singing experience before, this song makes me so fucking happy because you can see how much he had grown as a singer, but also how proud he was of himself! Look at him go!!! (Bonus: If I’m bending the rules in terms of what qualifies as a solo I would 100% make his Paradise By the Dashboard Light. That was his undoubtedly his very best vocal performance. It’s SO FUCKING GOOD it makes me go batshit.)

RACHEL: My Man. “She may be difficult but boy can she sing.”

BRITTANY: Run the World. The dancing is definitely the more impressive part of this number, but it still sounds great! This song really highlighted Heather’s strengths, when most of her songs weren’t very memorable in my opinion.

MIKE: Cool. Maybe Tina should be a professional vocal coach because damn look at him go!! Idk why an Asian kid wanted to play the role of a leader of a white supremacist group but at least he sounds great 🤷‍♀️

MERCEDES: I Will Always Love You. Literally every single Mercedes song is perfect, so this was the hardest one for me. This means I had to base it on acting. And she DELIVERS here. It should be illegal to be this talented.

TINA: Because You Loved Me. The fact that this is one of TWO solos that Jenna actually got to finish infuriates me. She was ROBBED because she is an amazing singer.

SANTANA: Nutbush City Limits. LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, MISS NAYA RIVERA. HOLY SHIT. Finn saying before the song, “They say that true divas aren’t really mortal” is so true. This woman was an absolute icon and I will always be blown away by her talent.

JAKE: Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself). It’s so EARNEST and HEARTFELT and Jacob Artist popped off with the acting. And the falsetto!! God it’s just beautiful.

EMMA: Getting Married Today. This is a trio, not a solo, but it’s so fucking good that I HAD to do it. That is literally one of the hardest female songs on Broadway, and for some reason they had Jayma sing it even FASTER than the original version? I can’t imagine the stress of trying to do that, but she was perfect.

SAM: Copacabana. This is just a really fun song! Everyone’s having a good time and Chord sounds amazing.

RYDER: Your Song. This is my favorite Elton John song, and boy was it done justice. The acting is really good in this scene. The mix of anxiety and earnestness coming from Ryder is adorable. He had great chemistry with whoever that girl was. (On a storyline note, I hated how this all developed though. If it had gone my way, Unique would confess it was her, then Ryder would sing this directly to Unique.)

KITTY: Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours. I just really like this number. Obsessed with Becca’s high notes.

MARLEY: Wrecking Ball. The cheating storyline with Bree was so fucking stupid and shouldn’t have happened. That being said, Melissa ATE what they gave her and left zero crumbs. She really came in like a wrecking ball.

UNIQUE: I Know Where I’ve Been. THIS SONG MAKES ME GO FUCKING CRAZY!!! THE TRANS CHOIR!!!! THE ACTING!!!!! THE FUCKING HIGH NOTE!!!!!! IT’S JUST SO GOOD I CAN’T HANDLE IT!!!!!!! This is the best part of season 6, full stop. THE most underrated Glee song ever. I will not accept criticism towards this opinion.

Since Furiosa was such a steaming pile of crap Sawyer and I rewatched Fury Road to make sure we weren't just imagining how good it was and we discovered that we were 100% correct and Mad Max: Fury Road is That Bitch.

Pissing and moaning about movies under the cut.

Furiosa was so godawful boring and its characters were one note simple and entirely unbelievable. How did they manage to take someone as compelling and layered as Furiosa and make her so fucking boring.

(I mean, I know why I think that happened, and it has everything to do with the fact that ATJ's acting relies on her staring at things and this 👁👁 gets a little old after a while)

The movie relied so much more heavily on CGI than its predecessor. CGI in Fury Road is spare and seamlessly integrated; it blends with the environment and is believable. The sandstorm isn't real but you believe those war boys getting sucked into it. Compare to the first time we see Furiosa and Mary Jabassa in the canyon I physically grimaced, unable to contain how annoyed I was at how unreal the lighting and the background looked.

And beyond that, the plot in Furiosa limps along. There were long stretches where none of what we were seeing mattered in the slightest. The weird plot beat of Rictus taking Furiosa away from the Wives Sanctuary with the intent to sexually assault her made no sense: she's property of Immortan Joe at this point, and you Do Not take from the Immortan. Like, Rictus would not have fucking ever taken anything from his father, be so for fucking real. There are better ways of getting Furiosa out from the Sanctuary and into the fray. In Fury Road, everything has a point. Every beat is a thread that ties itself into the grander plot. There are no loose trails, no meandering moments. Everything has a payoff.

Furiosa has none of that. There's spectacle and Cruelty but none of it goes anywhere. It just is. In Fury Road, every single moment is important. Every little moment helps tells the story and has a payoff later. Like, for example, the organic mechanic says offhand to be careful because Max is a universal donor, then it comes back later when he gives Furiosa his blood. There's no payoff like that in Furiosa, unless you count the BS that was her keeping the peach pit.

Dementus was also pointless. He was a worthless, poorly written, poorly acted character. When Tom Hardy is snarling on screen as Max, frantically running and behaving oddly, you believe him. You believe he is unhinged. You believed Immortan Joe was dangerous, you believed Nux was a devoted sycophant who wanted his God's approval.

I don't believe Dementus. His point in the whole movie, in the whole fucking backstory, was to give slightly more weight to Max telling Furiosa that hope is a mistake. He's got all the evil gravitas of Dr. Eggman and is even less believable. Chris Hemsworth doesn't have the depth within him to pull out crazy sadist warlord. It's not in his wheelhouse.

And I hate what they did to Furiosa's backstory. It felt like her anger at Immortan Joe in Fury Road was misplaced because suddenly he's not the one who stole her, and in fact she managed pretty well in the Citadel. By making Dementus the one who stole her it completely takes out the thunder from her rage at him in Fury Road. What good is the "remember me?" before she rips off his jaw if she's been supported and promoted under him, with seemingly no issues that she ran from his wives cave as a child? It cheapens that whole payoff.

Furiosa had the misfortune of trying too hard to capitalize on the popularity of an iconic character, and in doing so undid everything about that character that made her interesting. It took out Furiosa's teeth and failed to live up to its predecessor.
