the thing that bothers me about dragon riders is that the dragon absolutely does not have to let you climb on its back. your ability to 'ride' the dragon is entirely dependent on the dragon allowing you to do that. it could fly just fine without you sitting there. which means you are not a dragon rider, not really. that beast is not your pet. you're the dragon's pet. you're its trophy wife.

"tek" in "tangotek" does a lot of heavy lifting to make it sound more kiki but "leman" in "skizzleman" makes it sound more bouba

#and now actually add their personalities (or however you/i perceive their personalities) and the categorization becomes even more difficult #wha wah i cant categorize them in neat little boxes (there is just now more boxes. boubaful kiki and kikiful bouba)#zed and impulse like as words are pretty definitive to me. zedaph is bouba and impulse is kikiful bouba #but then i once again think about how i characterize and draw hem and they reverse. zed is kikiful bouba now and impulse is bouba #so basically if i put them in little boxes with characterization and how i draw them in mind #tangotek kiki; skizz boubaful kiki; zed kikiful bouba; and impulse is just bouba #im only really qualified to talk about zed so everyone else is pretty much imho #mauv's meowing

there’s such an attitude among ex-christian atheists that religions just spring up out of the void with no cultural context behind them. like ive heard people say shit like “those (((zionists))) think they own a piece of land bc their book of fairy tales told them so!!!” and they refuse to understand that no, we don’t belong there because of the torah, it’s in the torah because we belong there. because we’re from there. the torah (from a reform perspective) was written by ancient jews in and about the land that they were actively living on at the time. the torah contains instructions for agriculture because the people who lived in the land needed a way to teach their children how to care for it. it contains laws of jurisprudence because those are pretty important to have when you’re trying to run a society. same for the parts that talk about city planning. it contains our national origin story for the same reason that american schools teach kids about the boston tea party. it’s an extremely complex and fascinating text that is the furthest thing from just a “book of fairy tales”

something small but consequential about alien stage that drives me crazy is the juxtaposition of mizisua and ivantill. mizisua, where love translates well and ivantill, where love doesn’t. where love is a two-way road vs where love is a crash test car. either way, it ends in tragedy. maybe the only consistent thing about the human heart is that it eventually breaks, maybe the closest they can get to experiencing their own humanity light-years away is through all the loving and losing they do
