*mdni
wc: 900+

*ੈ✩‧₊˚༺☆༻*ੈ✩‧₊˚
It had been three years since you graduated from the school. Everyone was excited about your return. Storm and Scott picked you up from the train station downtown. It was an unexpected surprise when Professor Xavier reached out, asking you to teach for a semester. He has always been an important influence in your life; having brought you in as a troubled teenager. Being an X-Men changed your life for the better.
"You are going to love all the new students!" Storm smiles, helping Scott and you carry in your bags.
"I can't wait to meet them!"
Once everything was inside, you headed upstairs to your old room with a suitcase in hand. The room was located on the farthest end of the mansion, which was secluded and quiet; away from all the chaos. You never would've guessed what was on the other side of the door.
"Do you mind?"
There, lying in your old bed, a scruffy, annoyed, attractive man who looked double your age, smoking a cigar on his back. You freeze drinking in his appearance.
Who the hell was this man in your room?
"This is my room." You question if you opened the wrong door or took a left instead of a right. Nope, that was your old bookshelf and bedframe.
"I'm pretty sure this is my room." He replies, cocking his head to the side.
"No, you're in my bed." You bite back, growing more irritated with the stranger.
"This is my bed, sweetheart." He glares at you while his eyes linger down your figure.
He found your angered expression adorable. The way your nose scrunched a little and your hand found its way onto your hip. Your pretty short black skirt captivated him. If it wasn't for the stick up your ass, he would've been more than willing to let you stay in his bedroom.
"That's my bookshelf!" You pointed out. "And that is my bedframe!"
"Well, if that's the case, you need a new bedframe." His voice drops in a way that makes your stomach turn in a dangerous yet delicious way.
A small gasp leaves your mouth before you can catch yourself. Not wanting to see that stupid smirk on his face, you whip your head around and stomp downstairs to Professor Xaviers' office.
It's been weeks since your first encounter with Logan. Ever since you had to move to a new room, you've avoided him at all costs. If what Scott has told you is any truth of Logan's character, then you knew he was trouble.
Despite your attempts to stay far away from him, Logan had other plans. Caught in every corner; stuck at every turn, he managed to capture you. He would go out of his way to brush past you in hallways. Even in crowded rooms, his eyes shamelessly burned holes into you.
The worst of it was when he would sit in during your lectures. Half of your mind focused on the lesson while the other half ran wild with the thought of him watching you.
If you weren't careful, you would cave.
Which was exactly what Logan wanted. He knew it was wrong to need you as badly as he did. You were so much younger than him yet you pranced around the mansion like you knew everything. He didn't want Charles to know about the feelings string inside of him. You had barely been gone three years, there's so much you hadn't experienced yet. The last thing anyone wanted was for Logan to taint you.
On Friday nights you would stay in your classroom grading papers until the early morning hours. This Friday was no exception. It was almost two am when you scribbled a B+ on the final stack of papers. You stood up, leaving all your belongings in the classroom until Monday morning; desperately wanting to be in bed. Once you locked the door and turned down the hallway, you saw him coming up the stairs.
"What do you want, Mister. Howlett?" You glare at him. Logan's eyes darkened at the way you addressed him.
For such a mouthy girl, you did have some manners.
"You've been avoiding me." He states, following closely behind you. The clothing you wore drove him insane. Tight tops, unbelievably short skirts, and dresses. If Logan could die, he's sure it would've been at your hands.
"You've noticed? I figured you would have been too busy getting rejected by Jean to care."
The comment was supposed to sting painfully for him; instead, it backfired on you.
Of course, you noticed the way he shamelessly flirted with the redhead. It plagued your mind ever since you saw it happen with your own eyes. The way he gawked at her unapologetically, even with her boyfriend present. You would never admit it but it made you bitter, to say the least.
"Oh, I see..." Logan smirks.
"See what?"
"I can see you." His words make you freeze up. "You're jealous."
You roll your head back and laugh at his accusation; despite the truth it held.
Without hesitation, Logan grabs your hips and pins you up against the wall. You whine as your back makes contact with the cold grey wall. His grip tightens at the noise you let out.
"Not only can I see the effect I have on you..." Logan's voice is rough against the shell of your ear. "I can hear and smell it, sweetheart."
A flush of red creeps its way up your pretty face in the low light. Logan groans when he pulls back and sees it for himself. The second you are face-to-face, you pull him. A rush of teeth clashing into each other messily. One of your hands rests on his jaw while the other knotted itself in his hair. Logan's right hand slides up your thigh and under your skirt as he picks you up. You bite and tug on his lower lip; until you can taste the tiniest bit of blood. Both of you were desperate for each other.
"My room." You mumble against his lips. Logan chuckles, knowing that the only room on this side of the mansion is his current bedroom.
This will have to be your little secret.

Promises, oceans deep - peter parker x reader
Tumblr media
peter parker x f!reader // you said you were gonna grow up, then you were gonna come find me // based on the song 'Peter' by Taylor Swift
Summary: the misfortune of being left behind in the blip, and the consequences of aging without him.
Part two <3
tw: mention of bad eating habits/food disorder; insomnia; angst
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The night was cold, dark. The halls of the compound were as empty as they had been since the blip. That's the thing about this place - in it's hayday, it was a wonderful place to live. Laughter and camaraderie filled every corner, every crevice. There was always music, dancing, movies, games, whatever. That was before. Now, the halls were a stark reminder of everything that is lost. Every step echoed in this hollow home.
Forgive me, Peter My lost fearless leader In closets like cedar, Preserved from when we were just kids. Is it something I did?
The glow of the fridge was the only light in the kitchen as you searched for anything to eat. It hadn't even occurred to you to look earlier, when you could do something about the empty shelves. You sighed, taking the milk and setting it on the counter, prepared for another night of cereal for dinner.
"You need to eat better, (y/n)." You jumped at the voice behind you. How, when your steps were so cacophonous, were his so silent? You turned to face him, turning to pick up the blanket that had slipped off your shoulders as you jumped.
Steve. As he turned the light on, he looked tired. The bags beneath his eyes aging him by at least a couple of years at least. You had always considered him to be almost immortal, un-aging. But these past few years, you saw him looking older, much more tired. You weren't really sure if it was a result of the pain of the times, or if he really was biologically aging. The thought of either was too painful to dwell on.
"Yeah? And you need to sleep better, Cap."
He chuckled and shrugged with a small, sad smile on his face. You both knew the other was right, and also knew that neither of your words would make a difference. After two years of your comrades being missing, dead or blipped, the Avengers had stalled. So, each of you, the remainders that is, seemed to have set about to destroy yourselves in a myriad of different ways.
He walked around the counter, taking the milk out of your hands. He opened the top and gave it a whiff, visibly recoiling. "That's so out of date." He poured it down the sink before bumbling around the kitchen, bringing out a pan, some eggs and various herbs and spices. "Sit down, let me make you something substantial."
You followed his orders, knowing that if you told him that you weren't hungry, felt sick, he wouldn't believe you. You knew he had too much on his plate with all the council meetings you had long gave up on. Just tonight, you would give him the win. God knows he needed it.
There was a comfortable silence between the two of you as he crafted up a meal with anything usable he could find in the kitchen, "God, we have to get better at doing food shops." He muttered, mostly to himself.
He broke the silence as he handed you a plate of food, having made on for himself as well. He sat next to you at the kitchen island as you both ate. "So, how's school?"
You almost laughed at the mundane question. You tried to remember the last time you were asked such a question. You missed this, you supposed. The small talk, back when life was normal. Back before Thanos.
"School is... okay." You didn't want to tell him that actually, school was a constant reminder that your boyfriend and two best friends were missing, presumed dead. "It's boring, pointless."
"You graduate this year, right?" He asked.
The question made your bones go cold. You hadn't even thought about it, but yeah. You would be graduating this year. Without them. You swallowed harshly. "Yeah."
He could see the emotions written all over your face and gave your shoulder a squeeze, reassuringly.
You went back to silence.
The goddess of timing, once found us beguiling. She said she was trying, Peter, was she lying? My ribs get the feeling she did.
The day was a blur. You walked up to the stage to receive your diploma, looking out into the crowd. They were sitting in the guests of honour box, being the avengers and all. Natasha and Steve smiled at you and waved, Bruce and Tony cheered while Thor gave you a hearty thumbs up. Rocket sat on his shoulder, looking bored. You wandered across the stage in a fugue state, accepting the scroll and the valedictorian award. The school hadn't asked you to do the speech, which you were grateful for. They knew you never really talked anymore.
As you returned to your seat, the principal called out "And now, we want to take a moment to remember those that we lost..."
When his photo flashed across the screen, you were sure you were going to be sick.
And I didn't wanna come down I thought it was just goodbye for now.
"Good job, kid." Natasha opened her arms and enveloped you in a hug. You returned it, almost desperately. You didn't feel like it was a good job. It was an empty achievement without them.
You both turned to walk back to the parking lot, with Steve putting his arm around you. "What do you want to do to celebrate, bud? You wanna go out to dinner?"
While your heart screamed absolutely not, your head said that they needed the win. "Sure, yeah."
You said you were gonna grow up, then you were gonna come find me.
When you moved to college, it was almost a breath of fresh air. You felt bad, leaving Steve, Natasha and Bruce since Tony had left to live with Pepper and Morgan, and Thor had gone to settle the Asgardians into New Asgard. But the silence in the halls of the compound was chest-crushing, and only grew worse by the day.
You heaved your things up the stairs into your dorm. A single one, thank god. Being one of the surviving members of the Avengers really did have its perks sometimes. You struggled to carry things that you probably wouldn't have before, and recently you had noticed that you were so tired. You tried to hide your shaky legs and the sweat on your forehead from Steve and Natasha. But they noticed, and exchanged worried glances behind your back.
Steve obviously insisted on helping everyone else in the parking lot, ever the good samaritan. You and Natasha arranged your room together, putting up posters and decorations and trying to make the space feel homely.
You picked up a picture frame and turned it around. Him.
You said you were gonna grow up, then you were gonna come find me. Words from the mouths of babes, promises, oceans deep. But never to keep.
The assignment you were working on was rough, like, really rough. You had been conducting some research and there was just something alluding you. You ended up scrolling through instagram instead, when Steve's contact flashed across the screen. You looked at the time - 2am. Way past Cap's bedtime.
"Hello?"
"(y/n)? Were you asleep?" He asked, worry immediately flooding his voice.
You rolled your eyes. "Yes."
"God, don't... don't lie to me, kid." He sighed. "Either way, you've got to come back to the compound, it's... Scott Lang. You remember the giant guy from Berlin? He's back, we're not really sure how. It might... It might be something."
You breathed out. "What?" You squeezed your eyes closed and breathed for a few seconds. "I'll be there, I've... fuck, I've got an assignment due tomorrow."
You could hear Steve smile at the absurd normalcy of what you had said. "Hey, let's mind our language. I'll get someone to send a letter to your professor to excuse you, I'm sending a quinjet to you now. Be ready."
"Sure thing, old man. See you soon."
"See ya, kid."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From there, things moved quickly. Too quickly. Your life descended into utter chaos from writing papers in college to time travel, other worlds, alien species and infinity stones. Natasha's death.
And then there was the snap. The second one. Bruce screamed in pains as rainbow colours flashed up his arm, a thousand little lightning strikes. Steve stood in front of you, protectively. If this explodes, we're all dead. You thought, rather pessimistically.
As Bruce finally gathered the strength to snap, you were almost shocked to see he survived. Everyone ran forward to check him, Tony cooling the nasty looking burns on his arm, neck and face.
"Clint, your phone." You spoke, but it was perhaps too quiet. "Clint! Answer your phone!" You shouted, getting everyone's attention. It was the first time you had spoken in a long time, never mind shouted.
It was Laura. Oh my god. It was Laura.
Scott looked out of the windows, admiring the birds. There were so many more birds. He spun around and laughed.
And that's when it hit. You weren't even sure what it was, but then you were falling through the air. Your surroundings were crumbling and it all happened so fast you couldn't even react. Steve grabbed a hold of your arm and drew you to their chest, protecting you as you tumbled.
As you collided, your mind swarmed with so many thoughts. What the hell had happened, and was Peter back?
The battle raged. You didn't even know if everyone was out of the rubble. The battlefield was the now ruins of the only real home you had ever known. You lined up with Cap, and the others. And stared down what you were almost certain would be your death.
As the alien army marched closer, Steve turned to you. "You should run, (y/n). You have your whole life ahead of you."
You smiled, almost sadly, at him. "Cap, I don't think there is a life after this." He sighed, knowing that it was no use. You had been raised better than to abandon your family, and he knew that it was his fault. He couldn't save you.
Suddenly, sorcerer circles opened behind you and the ones you had lost came pouring in. Including him.
Are you still a mind reader? A natural scene stealer. I've heard great things, Peter. But life was always easier on you, than it was on me.
There was little time for rejoice as the army advanced towards you.
"Avengers!" Steve called. "...assemble."
And with that, you were running. You watched as spider-man flitted in and out of the hordes, doing his bit. You ran towards him, and held no mercy for any rogue soldier who dared to come near you and him. The others protected him too, and you were glad of it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The battle was won but Tony was lost. You stared as Pepper cried by Tony's body, his eyes open, his body and face badly burned from the impact of the stones. There was a circle of Avengers around him. Just staring. No one knowing what to do, or say.
Peter. Your Peter. Collapsed into a heap near him, his emotions taking over. It was instinctual, the way you ran to him.
"Hey," You whispered, gathering him up into your arms. "I've got you. He's resting now. He saved us." You tried throwing every phrase people had ever thrown at you, at Peter. You knew it all meant nothing to him.
You looked down at his face, and horror crossed your face as you realised how much older than him you were now.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Steve watched his youngest team members in the puddle on the ground, the kid who had given him a run for his money in Germany, and the girl he had raised these past few years. He watched as your heart broke, and Peter couldn't even see it. He knew exactly what was going though, watching the now 21-year-old you holding a still 16-year-old Peter.
As emergency services and the military started to pull into what used to be the Avengers Compound, he knew there had to be a co-ordinated effort to resolve the tragedies they had just witnessed.
He walked over to you both and whispered softly, "Come on, kids, there's work to be done."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And sometimes it gets me, when crossing your jetstream, We both did the best we could do underneath the same moon but in different galaxies.
"(y/n)." You didn't hear him say your name until that night. Well, the next morning, you suppose. You didn't even know what time it was.
Your face softened as you saw him. After the compound was destroyed, Clint was kind enough to bring you all to his house with Laura and the children, just until something more permanent was sorted out. It had been a couple of weeks now, and you had barely exchanged a word with anyone.
"Hi, Pete." You breathed out. He looked at your face, intently. Like he was searching for something he recognised, and couldn't find it. "How... how are you?"
"I'm alright. Um... yeah. Doing okay."
"Good, good." You hummed, sipping your cup of tea.
There was a moment of silence as the two of you looked out over the farm.
He cleared his throat. "(y/n), can we talk? I..." He faltered. "I miss you."
You looked at him, a little panicked, you'll admit. You didn't even know where to begin thinking about how to go about moving on with your relationship with Peter. You had been together for a year... but that was five years ago. That's not even considering that fact that he was still in high school and you were now of drinking age, at college. Shit, you still hadn't done that assignment.
"Peter, I..." His puppy eyes made your heart break. "I'm an adult now... it's been five years for me, and I... I changed a lot, in that time."
"Right, yeah." Tears swelled to his eyes. "You're right, yeah." You knew he was putting on a brave face.
"I'm sorry, Peter. For now, we have to go our separate ways, I think." Tears crashed down his cheeks, but he never broke eye contact with you. "I... I have to go back to college, and I won't see you for a while."
And I didn't want to hang around... We said it was just goodbye, for now

The Arcana HCs: M6's ringtones
Julian
For Asra: Hot n Cold by Katy Perry
I mean, does it even need explaining? Yes, Asra knows this is their assigned ringtone, and no, they don't mind it at all
For Nadia: Run the World (Girls) by Beyonce
Nadia didn't know that this was her ringtone until you told her, to which she looked flattered and Julian began to stutter
For Muriel: Why Can't We Be Friends by War
Does Julian respect that Muriel is allowed to feel however he wants to about him? Yes. Does the dislike still bother him? ... maybe
For Portia: Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses
This was the most sentimental ringtone Portia would allow him to set for her, and only because of the sick guitar intro
For Lucio: Mean by Taylor Swift
He's not going to lie, some of Lucio's accusatory words did hurt a little, especially after he saved his life with that amputation
For you: Can't Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley
A classic. It sums up his feelings for you perfectly, and if you happen to dial him in earshot he'll croon along for you
Asra
For Julian: Dumb Ways to Die by Tangerine Kitty
There's no hard feelings between them anymore, but the moment Julian decided dying counted as a solution this became his song
For Nadia: That's My Girl by Little Mix
She might not remember how close they were, but after the tea parties they had together, he'll always be rooting for her
For Muriel: Lean On by Major Lazer
Never let it be said that they can't be sentimental. They'll just do it to EDM and cheesy lyrics for maximum teasing potential
For Portia: Drama by AJR
If you think for a second that he and Portia didn't eventually bond over their love of collecting tea, I beg you to reconsider
For Lucio: Stupid Hoe by Nicki Minaj
You can try to shame them for this all you want. They are humming along, and have been known to keep singing after picking up
For you: Tear in my Heart by twenty one pilots
You're the tear in his heart, and that means he's alive. Changes it sometimes to lighten the mood, but always switches back
Nadia
For Julian: Rasputin by Boney M.
She doesn't remember him, but there's one thing she knows for sure - the only thing he does more shamelessly than flirt is dance
For Asra: Daydreamer by AURORA
Doesn't the title of the song say enough? Even if it didn't, the dreamy music fits them too well too deny
For Muriel: Lean on Me by Bill Withers
Here is what she knows about Muriel: Vesuvia failed him, and she wants him to have better. Now if she could just get his trust ...
For Portia: Count on Me by Bruno Mars
The person who sat by her as she slept and took care of her needs after awakening and stuck by her side? She can count on her
For Lucio: Shout Out to My Ex by Little Mix
Never let it be said that Nadia is afraid of growing and getting stronger. Though saying he broke her heart is an overstatement
For you: Halo by Beyonce
Just ... read through the lyrics. She's never going to hear you call her without remembering what you mean to her
Muriel
For Julian: D.I.L.L.I.G.A.F. by Kevin Bloody Wilson
Specifically the chorus - "Do I Look, Like I Give A F***: DILLIGAF." He doesn't plan on getting chummy with him any time soon
For Asra: Stressed Out by twenty one pilots
He knows they both had to grow up and suffer, but he still gets nostalgic for the quieter years they spent as kids in the woods
For Nadia: Kings & Queens by Ava Max
Is she intimidating? Yeah, but he'd pop champagne to celebrate her succeeding Lucio any day. More queens on the throne, please
For Portia: W.I.T.C.H. by Devon Cole
Nadia may be intimidating, but Portia's the one he truly fears the most. This woman is small and mighty and way too unpredictable
For Lucio: When Will You Die? by They Might Be Giants
Does he have any murderous intent towards the count? not really. Will he sleep easier when he knows he's all the way gone? ... yeah
For you: All of Me by John Legend
Well it's true, isn't it? You pulled him back out into the world and earned his total trust. But he's never letting you hear his ringtone
Portia
For Julian: Welcome to the Black Parade by My Chemical Romance
As all younger sisters must, she chose this solely to make fun of him. Julian, on the other hand, is flattered at the iconic song choice
For Asra: Jericho by Iniko
She knows there's better choices out there, but it's just the vibes, y'know? Try convincing her that they haven't been to outer space
For Nadia: Best Friend by Saweetie
Can't resist singing along to it every time it goes off. Which means that she'll always answer with "hi bestie!!" even when she shouldn't
For Muriel: Y.M.C.A. by Village People
1) She doesn't know him that well, 2) it's a really good song, 3) telling him not to feel down is what she wants to do anyways
For Lucio: Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys
*cue gremlin face* sure, she never met him personally, but the dude wasn't a great husband for her bestie. giggles each time
For you: I Will Always Love You by Dolly Parton
Likes to belt this out to you when she picks up. Whether she squeaks on the high notes each time is up to the listener
Lucio
For Julian: House of Memories by Panic! at the Disco
You can't get amputated on the battlefield by a newbie without trauma bonding at least a little bit. Besides, it's catchy
For Asra: Teenagers by My Chemical Romance
Ohh, he remembers when they were a teenager, and he does not want to go back. He had good reason to be uneasy around them
For Nadia: We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together by Taylor Swift
Yes, he knows their marriage ended because he died, but indulge him a little if sometimes he likes to fantasize that he called it off
For Muriel: Sorry by Justin Bieber
Well, what other song are you supposed to give the victim of your past self? Okay so maybe it isn't the best apology, but it is "sorry"
For Portia: Sweet but a Psycho by Ava Max
Oh, he knows that the force truly worth fearing is not the woman you did wrong - it's her loyal and unhinged best friend.
For you: Teenage Dream by Katy Perry
You do make him feel like a teenager again! It's not nearly as glamorous as life used to be, but having you there for it is exciting

Watching Cats (2019) DvD Commentary
Thoughts as I watch:
Tom is literally basing this entire movie on the one time he saw Cats in 1981 when he was 8 years old
He called the movie a coming of age film about Victoria meeting characters that effect her and that Tugger represents the sin of lust (yes I am laughing)
He said abandoned three times in a row to describe Grizabella
Tom made up the thing about Grizabella used to be with Macavity happened because he wanted to cut out the idea that she was a prostitute
Has Bustopher eat trash because he thought that's what cats would be more interested in
The pause in Bustopher Jones when he says to gather the cats is a meta joke about the cats actually being people
The food was CGI
"Sees the implication of his unchecked appetites" in reference to Victoria and Bustopher Jones
Hooper brought his niece and nephew to set to play on the Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer set
He keeps insisting that there is a learning and growing arc for Victoria, but I have no idea what he's talking about
He has barely talked about the characters as actual characters and mostly just talks about how great it is to work with famous celebrity number five or how they're symbolical. I think he's making things up at this point
He added the love story because he thought Misto trying to figure out how to be a magician was a good parallel with Victoria's story of finding herself
Originally the first barge scene was longer with a lot of improv from James and Rebel as Growltiger went on
"Robbie Fairchild is brilliant" that is the only thing Tom said that makes sense
This man really said "women can be the god of cats in 2019"
Judie and Ian were the ones to decide that Gus and Old D had a thing...well at least they followed the pattern of cats actors making weird decisions for their characters
I've come to the conclusion that Tom chose his cast based on which famous actors he's always wanted to work with
Tom has no idea how to describe choreography...just like how he has no idea how to film it
Giving Victoria a solo to sing was ALW's idea
He thinks the call and response of Beautiful Ghosts and Memory is brilliant and doesn't understand how he fucked that up
They almost cut "Moments of Hapiness"
He keeps talking about how great this film is for women, but where is Demeter sir!
He didn't know that it's Jellylorum that sings Gus' song and because Ian couldn't tell what the relationship between the two was he cut out her singing it for him
He talks about the advantage of mixing the CGI with the practical clothing, and I'm like, you know what would be even better? No CGI!
I don't know who's playing Bomba, but she was the first person to be cast in Cats
He said that he thinks Macavity works better as a solo and it didn't need to be a duet...I have never felt more like murder in my whole life
Taylor Swifts dad gave him the idea for the catnip
He likes the idea of Macavity being evil yet still plays by the rules...why?
He's talking about the changes from the musical to Mr Mistoffelees, and boy is he not bringing up that Tugger is the one that sings the number
Talks about community like there was any in this movie
This man has no idea who Jemima/Sillabub is, does he?
He finally mentioned Mette Towley as Cassandra at least. Recognize that she's the best character in this film goddamit!
Apparently Munkustrap was supposed to be learning about leading this whole film...wat
Apparently he watched the 98 film several times while writing the script...and yet this movie is straight
I'm not watching the commentary for the end credits. Fuck I hate this man

Idk if you like this concept but i can't stop thinking about harry with swiftie y/n who always sings London Boy to him. And likes to tease him about the fact that he dated Taylor
Tumblr media
swiftie!y/n by @harrysfolklore is superior, but i did my best!
(also, i know london boy isn't actually about harry, he's just being a tease)
*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.**.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*
“Hello everyone. My name is Y/n Y/l/n, but only because my boyfriend hasn't proposed to me yet.”
In the dim lighting, you could just make out Harry's figure at the back of the bar, where he promptly flipped you off. Laughing a bit, you continued.
“He told me we weren’t going home tonight until I got up here and performed, and while you are all a lovely bunch, I fear I am growing a little tired, so here I am.”
You and Harry were spending some time in Japan. Tokyo, to be exact. He'd just come off his first solo tour, and you both thought it would be nice to get away for a little while. He liked Japan, and you had never been, so it was perfect.
In the few weeks of being in Japan, you and Harry frequented a couple of places, one of which was a karaoke bar a few blocks from the apartment you were staying at. It was all locals and the two of you, but everyone was welcoming, especially when Harry started doing rounds of sake and getting on the small stage to perform here and there. You were content to watch, though Harry tried multiple times to get you to at the very least join him. And now that it was nearing the end of your stay, he was pressing a little harder.
So now you were on the stage with a microphone in your hand, trying not to look at anyone for too long.
“You got this, babe!” Harry shouted from his seat, resting his fingers in his mouth to blow a sharp whistle.
“Thank you,” you said. “This song goes out to my boyfriend, my London boy. And Taylor Swift, who I am forever grateful to for breaking up with my boyfriend so that I could have him one day, and I hope she'll follow me on Instagram one day so we can become best friends and dress up as Charlie’s Angels together for Halloween.”
You weren’t typically the kind of person that over shared, but it took a good amount of alcohol to get a microphone in your hands, and you tended to share a little too much about yourself when you were drunk.
Harry gave you a thumbs up as the music started, and since you called Taylor Swift “mother” on a regular basis, you didn't really need the words on the screen to help you along.
“We can go drivin' in, on my scooter. Uh, you know, just riding in London. Alright. I love my hometown as much as Motown, I love SoCal. And you know I love Springsteen, faded blue jeans, Tennessee whiskey...”
It was safe to say that you loved Taylor Swift. You grew up with her music, each album speaking to the different phases of your life as you went through them. Her music, her lyrics, the stories she told...you just understood all of it, you felt understood by her songs.
Meeting Harry, falling in love with him, it was all chance. He came into the clothing store you worked at, and you only recognized him as the guy from that boy band who dated Taylor Swift (which you did not tell him until much, much later). But he took you by surprise. His hair was long and his smile was shy but kind, and instead of talking about clothing suggestions like you were paid to do, he asked about you, and you asked about him, and instead of walking out with shopping bags, he left with your number, and the rest was history.
You never really expected to fall in love with Harry. Honestly, you thought he would forget about asking for your number. But he texted you a couple hours after you met, and you stayed up almost all night talking about whatever popped into your heads. He made his interest in you quite obvious, so there was never a period where friendship became more, but you still considered him your best friend. You were just two young people in love and experiencing the world together, and you wouldn't have wanted anyone else by your side.
Harry knew now what a fan of Taylor Swift you were, courtesy of a night where you had a little too much to drink and accidentally showed him a picture of a teenage you dressed in a “You Belong With Me” costume at one of her concerts.
*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.**.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*
“So, you’re a fan, are you?” he asked.
“That might be an understatement,” you told him, crawling into his lap. “You should know, if I believed in hall passes...”
Harry bursted out laughing, throwing his head back as you giggled with him. You thought he might be put off by your love for your favorite artist, but when he sobered up, he kissed the top of your head and said, “Noted. I’m very thankful that you don't believe in hall passes then.”
*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.**.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*
“You know I love a London boy, I enjoy walking Camden Market in the afternoon. He likes my American smile. Like a child when our eyes meet, darling, I fancy you...”
You were no performer, but you did your best, skipping between tables and trying your hardest not to sound horrible. You tried not to look at Harry too, because you knew he would be smiling no matter how good or bad you were, and you needed to make it through the song without getting flustered.
However, as the song came to a close, you went over to where he was and planted yourself on his lap, singing the last few lines just to him.
You could tell he was a little drunk too. His green eyes hooded as he smiled down at you. Butterflies fluttered in your stomach, and his grip on your waist made it hard to focus, but you managed to make it to the end of the song before kissing him.
His lips tasted like alcohol and the lip balm he kept in his pocket at all times. You held the sides of his face in your hands, thumbs rubbing at his temples as the patrons of the bar applauded your big finale. Eventually you pulled away to give the microphone back to the person in charge of the karaoke machine, but Harry didn't let you get far, his arms circling around your waist and holding you close.
“Let’s go home,” he mumbled as the next person got ready to perform.
“Can we grab something to eat on the way back? That left me starving. I don't know how Taylor does it.”
Harry chuckled as he stood up from his seat, leaving a couple bills on the bar before taking your hand in his as the two of you walked out into the chilly night air. “I perform too, you know.”
“I know, but she has these huge dance numbers too. It must be exhausting.”
“Are you saying I need dance numbers in my performances now?” he asked, but he knew you were joking around. He was a close second in your list of favorite artists, and he was well aware of that.
You shook your head, shivering a little as the wind picked up. Harry pulled you close, resting an arm over your shoulders. You wrapped your arms around his middle as you walked, pressing your cheek against his chest and savoring the warmth emanating from him.
You were both quiet as you walked down the street, content to just be next to each other. Until,
“You know I’m not from London, though, right?”
“Oh, I know. But Holmes Chapel boy doesn't have the same ring to it!”
Harry leaned down to brush his lips against yours. It was short and sweet and perfect, his most nudging yours as he pulled back just a little. “You’re right. I’ll have to give her a ring about that.”
“You have her number?”

What's In Front Of Us
Tumblr media
Pairing: Clark Kent x plus size! reader
Warning: Mentions of bullying
Summary: For once in his life, Clark never felt so speechless until he saw you in blue.
a/n: loosely based on the song You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift
The bell school rang, alerting the students it was dismissal. Everyone flooded the hallways as well as you. You walked up to your locker, unlocking it as you got the books you needed. When you close it, a familiar face looks at you, smiling.
"Did the birthday girl had a good day?" Clark Kent, your best friend since childhood, asked you.
"It was fantastic." you said sarcastically, then bursting into a fit of laughter as Clark joined too.
"I wanted to sleep in World Geography so bad." You said, almost putting your books inside of your bag.
"Yeah, I felt the same for Chemistry." Clark said, already grabbing your books and carrying it for you.
You never minded Clark helping you, besides, you want to use his super strength for good use.
You two were inseparable growing up. You were basically at the Kent Farm all of your childhood and often referred to you as their second child.
"Also, birthday girl gets to drive." You smirked, flashing your new car keys to Clark. He smiled at you, knowing that you've pleaded your dad to drive and he gave you his old pick up truck. You both walked to the parking lot, and see the popular girls whispering at you as you get in the old pick up truck. You never knew why they disliked you so much, but you never paid attention to their sneers. Clark always admired that about you, that nothing tore you down.
"Anyways, I was thinking we could study for a bit at the coffee shop and I'll drop you home." You said to Clark as you drove out of campus.
"Sure, my parents will be relieved that I'm actually getting help with this class. They're more proud of your grades than mine." He joked.
"I have that effect on other people's parents. You have your powers and I have mine." You joked as Clark chuckled.
Soon, you drove to where you guys were headed and walked side by side inside the Talon. You then ordered what you wanted and sat down, just going over some things for your Chem homework.
You were still talking about some formulas and you look up to see Clark glancing elsewhere.
You follow his gaze and see he was staring at Lana Lane. It was like she popped out of those teen rom-com scenes where the guy is staring at his love interest. You roll your eyes, muttering 'typical' as you return to your notes.
"What?" He says, turning to you obliviously.
"You have super hearing and you didn't hear me?" You question.
"Who has super hearing?" Lana asks as she came up to your table.
You and Clark turn to her like deers in headlights. Clark coughs in his hand as you try stammering out.
"Oh, I was... just teasing how Kent prides in his hearing but he wasn't listening about our homework." You said.
Lana politely smiles as she looks at Clark flirtatiously.
"Better start studying Clark. You don't want to be grounded on prom night for slacking school." She said, picking up his empty drink and went to the back.
You had nothing against Lana. She was nice to you compared to the other girls in school. But you felt a pang of jealousy that Clark started to notice her more often. He thought he was weak in the knees for her, but soon found out the kryptonite necklace she wore made Clark ill. (Maybe you were a bit appeased by this, but you would never tell Clark that.)
Clark looks at her till she leaves his sight and immediately looks down to his textbook, reading the chapter.
"Really? I've been helping you for a whole week and it takes Lane two seconds for you to study?" You asked, feeling a bit upset.
Clark looks up to you, feeling bad. "I'm sorry, you know how I get flustered."
"Yeah..." you muttered again before reading to yourself.
"Hey, someone's a bit grumpy. Is it because I didn't give you your birthday present?" Clark asks, smirking.
"Clark, I told you, I don't like being spoiled." You said. Of course, you appreciate the Kents for taking care of you, especially since your dad is still mourning the loss of your mom.
"Hey, you're my best friend. I want to show how lucky I am that you're cool with me being an alien and all." You snicker at his comment, he never failed to make you laugh.
"Okay, Kent. Give me my present." You said in a sassy tone.
Clark smiles and dugs inside of his signature red jacket and hands you a present that looked like it was wrapped by a toddler. (You'd think he'd use his speed to be useful but oh well) You open it and you stare down at a silver bracelet that had a charm with the first letter of your name.
"Clark... I can't- accept this." You said, feeling a bit choked.
"Hey, yes, you should. I just remembered that you've always wanted to have a bracelet like your mom so I tried to find the closest thing like in the pictures." He said.
You form a smile as you wipe your tears.
"Thank you." You whispered, you said, fumbling to try to place it around your wrist.
Clark saw you were struggling a bit so he takes the bracelet and helps you put it on.
He gently holds your hand up and you both admire the twinkle it shows under the lights.
"It's beautiful." you said, looking down.
"Yeah, it is." he whispers under his breath.
You two retract your hands, feeling a bit flustered.
"Um... let's just go back to work." you whispered, staring back at your textbook.
Clark didn't say anything except smile at you and continued on with his studies, happy that he gets to be with you.
Soon, you drove him back home and see that his parents were out as Jonathan was getting off the tractor and Martha coming out of the house.
"Hey you two! How was studying?" Martha asks.
"It was good, Clark listens to me better than the teacher." You joked, making Clark roll his eyes playfully.
"Well, I'm glad that you're teaching him, he's always got his head in the clouds." Jonathan said, messing Clark's hair making his son smile.
"Why don't you stay for dinner? I don't think muffins and coffee is a proper meal for this time, especially not on your birthday." Martha asks you.
"I really don't want to intrude." You said, knowing Mrs. Kent won't take no for an answer.
"She did make you your favorite." Jonathan hints, giving you a warm smile.
"Well, I guess can't pass up on a good meal." You joked as Martha hugs as you walks you into the house.
All of you started to eat and shared your day, laughing and enjoying each other's company. After dinner, Clark walked you to your car and opened your door.
"Hey so, I haven't heard any plans from you for prom." Clark asks as it was near the date.
"I wasn't initially going, but my aunt sent me a dress she made herself to surprise me. Said every beautiful girl deserves a beautiful dress." you said.
Clark comes closer to you, leaning on your open window.
"I didn't know what you were up to, so I was wondering if you wanted to go together?" Clark suggested.
You look at him surprised. you knew he didn't want to go to prom all together, unless he asked Lana, but he hasn't even asked her. You assume that she already has a date. You're about to tell him that you didn't want to be a second choice but his eyes gave you this look.
"You know you're the only one for me... so what do you say? I'll buy you a corsage to match that bracelet of yours."
In that moment, something in you just sparked.
"Well... flowers do sound nice." you said.
Clark shone his signature smile and straightened up.
"Great! I'll pick you up at your house, 8 o'clock sharp!" He said as he jogs to his door.
You couldn't help but shake your head as you started your car.
Prom would be one night to remember.
As the night came, Clark was trying to make a bowtie but kept on failing. Jonathan saw his son and walked in his room.
"Getting nervous there son?" he asks, leaning by the door frame.
Clark looks at his dad and looks down to his unfinished tie.
"It's just a dance." Clark said.
Jonathan laughs his head as he goes up to Clark, already fixing his tie.
"It's not just an ordinary dance, especially for you two lovebirds." His dad joked.
Clark rolls his eyes, as his parents often paired you and Clark since you two met.
"Dad...." Clark warned.
"I'm just saying son, it takes a long time for us Kent men to realize what's in front of us. That's all I can say." Jonathan said.
He finished the tie and patted Clark on the shoulder, implying that he was finally done. The two share a grateful look at each other and walked out to the car. Martha joins as she brought a polaroid, wishing to get pictures before you two head to the school.
When they arrive to your house, Clark takes a deep breath and knocks on the door.
He then sees your dad who looked very bright.
"Clark! Come in, she should be coming down by now. Started getting ready since noon!" He says. Clark's parents go up to your dad and talk while Clark was staring at the staircase, trying not to burn it.
He then did a double take as he finally saw you as you walked out of your room as you were walking down the stairs. You wore this dark blue off-the-shoulder dress with a high slit on your left leg. He was stunned as your hair and makeup were professionally done. What made his heart flutter was the bracelet he gave you.
Martha gasps as she places a hand on her chest.
"Darling, you look beautiful! Clark, tell her she looks beautiful!" She said.
"Thank you Mrs. Kent." you said, staring at her.
You then look at Clark, slightly squirming in your dress that felt hot.
Clark could tell that you were waiting for a response. But there were so many words in the english language for him to describe you: exquisite, stunning, angelic... his breath was taken away.
All he could do was gulp, and offer you your corsage.
"This is... for you." he mustered the courage to say.
You decided not to let Clark make a fool of himself and walked up to him as he placed it around your wrist, feeling the same vibrations when he placed your bracelet on for the first time.
You two smiled at each other and looked up when you see a flash. Martha took a picture and orders you to pose with each other. Clark and you take pictures and tell your parents that it's time to head out. They wave you goodbye as Clark drove you to the dance.
The ride was silent, as the two of you sat awkwardly to school.
"Sooo..." You muttered.
"Sooo..." Clark replied.
You've grown a bit unsteady, and Clark could sense too. You're heart was thumping faster than a speeding bullet.
Clark gives you a glance and looks back on the road.
"Your dad seemed happy."
You smile as you look out the window.
"Yeah, he said that today reminded him of his first date with mom on their prom night. Brought back some good memories."
Clark smiled. You and your dad have been so estranged for so long, but was happy that you two found some inner peace.
"I'm not great with, talking about things... but I want us to have a fun night together, with you." You look at him and give him a smile.
"I'd love nothing more."
As you parked in the school's parking lot, Clark helped you down his car and held your hand. He held it tight, reassuring you that he wouldn't leave your side. You both took a deep breath and walked into the prom together.
Luckily you went during the rush, hiding among plain sight among the numerous teens. The night went without a hitch, you two were having a great time laughing and dancing.
Then it came the slow dance.
You and Clark looked at each other awkwardly.
"We can sit down if you want." You say, already crossing your arms as you felt too conscious.
"I was hoping we'd dance if you like." he says, stepping forward to you.
You look up to him, eyes doe like as you took a silent gulp. You slowly wrap your hands behind Clark's neck as he placed his hands on your waist.
You two don't break eye contact as the lights dimmed and the music filled your ears. You two slowly closed with each other, not saying a word. You lay your head on his chest as he held you tighter once more. Clark felt like he was floating in midair, wanting to hold you as long as he can.
He got lost in thought till he heard your voice.
"Clark?" you ask.
He looks down at you, your eyes shining like stars.
"They're staring at us." you said, uneasy.
He looks around and sees his peers, even hearing the smallest of whispers around you.
"Don't pay attention to them, they're just jerks." He says.
"What are they saying?" you ask.
"Nothing, they're all jealous that I get to dance with the most gorgeous girl in the room."
"I don't think i believe that... You sure you don't want to dance with a prettier girl like Lana?" You ask, stopping your dance.
"I don't want to dance with her, I want to dance with you." He says, firming his voice.
The insecurities start building in your chest and you let go of him.
"I'm sorry, I can't." You said, already running away with tears in your eyes.
He calls you by your name but you can't look back, not when you were feeling like a fool.
You go straight to the bathroom, holding onto the sink as you cried more, ruining some of your makeup.
It was stupid, stupid to think that you could have a chance with Clark. You guys have been friends your entire lives, he'll never view you as something more.
You whip your head up and hear some laughter. Lana was the first girl you saw and she looked so happy. She then saw you and saw her features soften.
"Hey, I'm just going to take a bit, you can go." she said to her friends.
She goes straight to the paper towel roller and took a piece. She walks right up to you.
"May I?" she asks, lifting up the napkin.
You were shocked, but you straighten up and allowed her to wipe off the mascara down your checks.
"Whoever told us that prom is the best night of your life is utter crap." she said.
You couldn't help but laugh.
"Yeah, i'm just counting down the days till I leave for college." you said, feeling a bit better.
Once she was done, she threw the trash and gave you a comforting smile.
"You look beautiful, you and Clark must be having a good time." She said.
You frown a bit before you lean by the sink.
"I'm kind of avoiding him right now." You said in a low tone, crossing your arms.
Lana looks upset. "If he said anything I swear I'll bring him hell." She said in a serious tone.
You laugh, as you know she'd fight for you.
“Clark is fine, it’s just… the people around us stare at me like I came out of a circus.” You said.
“Hey, don’t think that. In ten years, they’ll be wasting away in some bar or regretting having three kids who are under five. You? You’re going to graduate top of our class and go out into the world, doing greater things. They’ll regret ever saying one bad thing about you.” Lana said, placing a comforting hand by your arm.
You hugged her tight, trying not to cry.
“Thanks Lana, you don’t know how much that means to me.”
She rubs your back and looks at you, beaming that you’re feeling better.
“If I’m not mistaken, I believe you need to finish a dance with your date.” Lana states.
You take one deep breath and you two walk out hand in hand.
What you didn’t expect was Clark sitting by the staircase, straightening up when he sees you.
You look at Lana and give her a smile, implying that you’re able to take care of yourself. She gives you one last hug and says goodbye before heading to the dance.
You and Clark stand next to each other, in uncomfortable silence.
You two speak at the same time, always interrupting when one tried to give the other the floor.
Clark gestures you to speak.
"Do you wanna get out of here?" you ask.
Clark sighs in relief.
"I thought you'd never ask. I wanted to show you something if you want to follow me." He said.
You hesitate for a moment, but you give your hand to him. You two walk to the car and Clark drives you out of the school. You were confused about when Clark takes you to his barn and gets out quickly, wanting to surprise you with something. He returns back with lightning speed, grinning as he hopes to win you back.
"I think you're going to like this." He said.
When he tells you to come upstairs, you were in awe. He decorated the place with his white Christmas lights to illuminate the inside as you two saw the starry sky.
"Thought this would make up for tonight," he says as he walks up to the radio with a cd player and played a slow song.
Clark turns around and admires you standing there. He takes a few steps forward and holds you closer to him as you swayed to the music.
"I never got to say how breathtaking you look tonight. Guess I got too nervous to say it," he says.
You chuckle as you look up at him.
"Well, if that's your apology, I forgive you." You said.
You're thankful for Clark doing all of this. You were a very private person, so sharing this intimate night with each other in a comfortable place made you feel more confident.
You lean on Clark's chest, hearing his fast heartbeat. Clark holds you closer, never wanting to let you go.
That's when he realized his dad's words from earlier.
"I'm so stupid." He mutters to himself.
"What?" You ask.
Clark gulps as he realized he was thinking out loud and stops dancing.
"I'm an idiot."
"I think I need more context than that." You joke.
He rolls his eyes and held your hands firmly, staring into your eyes.
"I've been feeling so lost and nervous, my throat would dry and I forget the words that I want to say. But when I saw you walking down those steps, everything became so clear. I-I... want to protect you, I want to take you out of this town and show the world because you deserve every second of someone loving you and..."
His face inches to your lips.
"I want to be that person that loves you."
Your mind is racing and your heart might as well be jumping out of your chest. Clark could sense the uneasiness as you couldn't reply.
He begins to slip away from your touch, about to turn around "Maybe it's late, I'll take you hom-"
"Wait." You said.
You spin him back to you and without a beat passing, you kissed his lips. Clark's hands lay flat on your back as your heartbeats align. You two felt like you were levitating.
You two break apart, smiling wildly.
"I always wanted to do that," you whispered.
Clark could only chuckle as he shakes his head, as you always made him laugh.
"I thought the same thing." He said.
You two kissed again as the world around you blurred like an unfocused camera. But both of you knew you could capture this night like a picture: forever still in the moment.

make sure nobody sees you leave
hood over your head keep your eyes down
tell your friends you're out for a run
you'll be flushed when you return
"Y/n, where are you going?" Lily asked as she was watching you put on your sneakers.
"Oh, I'm just-" Shit. You weren't good at lying and the invisible clock was ticking down loudly in your ears. You had to come up with something soon before you were busted for being untruthful.
"I'm just gonna run to the store quick, I just realised I don't have any-" You took a moment to look around. What would be something that you so urgently needed. "I don't have any coffee," you hurried to answer even though you knew full well how stupid it sounded. "You know how I get if I don't get my morning coffee. Do you need anything?"
Lily shook her head as an answer but gave you wondering look almost like she didn't believe a word you just said. However, she soon disappeared behind the corner into the living room and began to set the movie you had planned to watch with your friends.
Alex walked past you with a bowl of popcorn in one hand and a bottle of Coca-Cola in another. "Just don't take too long this time or we'll start watching without you," he joked referring to the last time you had a movie night which abruptly came to end before it even started when you left to sneak behind your boyfriends back to see Max.
You couldn't find any words to answer Alex so you just ended up chuckling quietly before you left. You pulled your phone out to text Max that you were on your way but that you had to hurry so that your friends wouldn't get suspicious.
take the road less traveled by
tell yourself you can always stop
what started in beautiful rooms
ends with meetings in parking lots
The street was quiet and the evening was growing darker by the minute. It was getting cold and you were wondering if you should have put more clothes on.
You didn't like sneaking behind Daniel's back. In fact, you hated it but there was something exciting about the secrecy you and Max were forced to share. A glimpse here, a quick brush of contact there. Those little moments always gave you butterflies in a way Daniel hadn't given you for so long.
You pushed your hands deep down in to your coat pockets in the hopes of getting to warm up a little. It didn't help though, so seeing Max's car already parked at your usual meeting spot as you made your way around the corner made you feel thankful. In your current state even a moment of warmth was all you could ask for.
The door creaked open. Max had reached from the driver seat to open it for you before you had the chance to grab the handle yourself. Those little things always made you smile.
"Hey," you said as you got in and leaned in to give Max a kiss. You could feel the smirk on his face as your lips interlocked. Neither of you ever wanting to waste the time as it usually was always only few stolen minutes here and there you two got to share together in private.
And even after those moments were over, you always told yourself you could stop at any given time. You never did though. Something about Max always pulled you to him. It was like an invisible string.
Sometimes you thought back to the time it all first started. You went over that night again and again. And you were always left wondering how something that had at the start been so beautiful could end up becoming this. This something that was so forbidden and wrongful.
You were torn with the idea of being with Daniel, the man you had been with for so long already. The man you knew loved you and wanted to share a life with you. But what you had with Max... Illicit, yes but so exhilarating at the same time. It was like a breathe of fresh air in your lungs each time you inhaled.
Time seemed to move slower each time you were with Max. It was like you were in your own world where it was just the two of you. And you enjoyed every minute of it.
Lost in your thoughts, you couldn't hear what Max had asked you.
"Y/n? Everything okay?" He sounded worried. You nodded your head quickly, to show him that everything was, in fact, okay before collecting your thoughts.
"Yeah," you wondered what you wanted to say, "I was just thinking." You turned your head to look out the window and felt Max's hand creep up on your thigh.
Out of the corner of your eye you could make out Max's facial features. His strong jaw, his piercing blue eyes, his brown hair and his few day old stubble. Those were all the things that made him attractive in your mind - those were all the things that you found better in him.
Max sighed. He could tell something heavy was on your mind. He didn't like seeing you like this. To him times like this, when you were lost in thought, contemplating between right and wrong, were useless and stupid. If you really were so uncertain of your actions, what were you even doing here? You should just go back to your boyfriend instead of waste his time. He never said those words out loud but he thought about them more than he cared to admit.
"I'm sorry, Max-" You picked up on the shift in his behaviour. It wasn't hard. Max wasn't one to really hide the way he really felt. "I'm sorry, I just can't help thinking about us. This whole thing. What we're doing, are we stupid?" The words came rushing out and you couldn't stop yourself.
Scoffing, Max shook his head. "You're overthinking this," he said. His voice was laced with venomous intent. Something you hadn't heard from him before. "If you wanna be with Daniel, then go fucking be with him. I'm not stopping you!" Taken aback by his words, you furrowed brows. "But whatever you decide, stop wasting my time."
The two of you sat in silence for a few seconds. Max was staring straight ahead, knuckles white as his grip on the steering wheel tightened. You tried to keep your composure, not wanting to break down in front of Max. But since it was getting harder to do after every passing second, you decided it was for the best if you just left.
Without saying a word, you opened the door and got out of the car, slamming it close behind you. You could hear Max scream something after you but you didn't pay any attention to it. You were done listening to his lies, playing along his tune. This was it, you decided.
On your walk back, you could feel tears start to pour down your cheeks. You stopped for a moment, resting your back against the cold tile wall. There was an ache in your chest - they kind that you might get when your heart breaks.
You knew this was for the better. It was better to end it all before things got messy. With the lifestyle you and Max and Daniel led, it was a surprise no one had yet spotted you and Max on your secret rendezvous. After all, it wasn't unusual for someone to be hiding behind a corner, hoping to catch a glimpse of one the drivers or their family. Add there a scandalous act and it was a shit storm waiting to pour down on everyone involved.
Still, as you tried your best to convince yourself this was what was right, you still couldn't ignore the ache that now seemed to have found a permanent residence deep in your chest. What you and Max shared, even with all the imperfections, was something beautiful that had now suffered the untimely demise.
Truth was, you were willing to leave Daniel. You were ready to walk out on him and the life you two shared, and you had told Max that. But he had told you it wasn't a good idea, at least not yet - if ever.
And every day since, you had grown tired of waiting. You still loved Daniel and hated to see him hurting. The thought of Daniel finding out about you and Max was eating you alive every day.
That's how you found yourself in this situation. Walking back to your friends who were waiting for you, unaware of where you had been and who with. Unsure of what the future was going to look like but certain that Max was not going to be a part of it - at least not in the way you had hoped.
It pained you to throw your relationship with Max down the drain, act like nothing had ever happened. But life wasn't always easy, you knew that. Sometimes the right thing to do was walk away. You just weren't certain if you had walked away from the right person.
leave the perfurm on the shelf
that you picked out just for him
so you leave no trace behind
like you don't even exist
The grid had made plans to go out for a dinner. Everyone was coming. Including Max.
"We're gonna be late soon," Daniel called out to you as you were in the bathroom staring at the shelf full of perfumes, wondering which one to use.
You glanced at the shelf. Almost choosing one before deciding against it, knowing full well it was one of Max's favorite perfumes on you. And tonight, you wanted no reminder of him ever even looking your way.
"I'm coming, I'm coming," you yelled back and rushed down the stairs to see Daniel waiting for you. His eyes went up and down as he look at your stunning figure. You were wearing a thigh high dress that hugged your figure perfectly. Your hair was in a high ponytail and you had opted to wear a beautiful, gold necklace that Daniel had gifted you for your anniversary.
A presumptuous smile grew on his lips. "You know on second thought," he began, "maybe they don't mind if we're a little late," he said as he wrapped his arms around your body, burying his face in the crook of your neck. Shivers went down your spine as you felt Daniel's breathe on your skin.
You gave him a playful slap on his shoulder as you urged him that the two of you really should get going.
It had been a few weeks since you had last seen Max. You hadn't been able to join Daniel in the grid, thanks to your busy work schedule. It wasn't anything unusual and you were thankful for it - no one had questioned your absence or thought of it as something abnormal. And those few weeks away from the hassle of the races had given you much needed time to think.
But with the traditional dinner each time before summer break official started and everyone got on with their own plans, you knew you couldn't avoid facing Max.
You and Daniel soon arrived at the restaurant. It took you a moment to gather up courage to get out of the car but Daniel didn't seem to notice your nervous appearance. You were thankful for his blissful unawareness - it wasn't like you could really give him a satisfying explanation for your sudden agitation anyway.
The two of you made your way inside, hand in hand and your nervousness faded slowly. Daniel placed a small kiss on the top of your head right before you spotted the table full of your friends and Daniel's colleagues.
Lando was the first to spot the two of you, getting up from his seat. He made his way to you, giving you a hug, saying how much he had missed you and wished you had been at the races.
"I know, I'm sorry. I was busy with work but I watched the replays from each race." You did your best to offer him a sort of explanation, not necessarily needing to. Lando knew what your schedule was like. He was, after all, the reason you and Daniel even started dating in the first. Lando having been your best friend for a long time before he started his F1 career, you two knowing each other from early childhood and staying close ever since.
Lando shuffled back to table, hurrying you two along the way. There was an excitement in his step. Lando had been kind enough to save you and Daniel seats next to him, with you unfortunately having to sit right across from Max.
If looks could kill, you thought to yourself as Max threw daggers your way with his eyes. You tried your best to avoid his gaze, hoping no one else noticed what was going on. The last thing you wanted was your dirty laundry to be aired in front of everyone.
Thankfully, the first moments of dinner you were busy listening to Lando and Daniel tell you about everything that had happened during your absence. Maybe you could survive this after all.
take the words for what they are
a dwindling, mercurial high
a drug that only worked
the first few hundred times
As the night went on, the topics of conversations changed. And at some point it became harder and harder for you to engage in them. There was a sort of pull in your mind towards something else. The words around the restaurant becoming more distant with each letter.
Max's words echoed around your mind. You kept slipping, thinking back when the time you spent with Max was something you looked forward to. When his words were sweet like honey. When the stolen glances were filled with love.
Max was your drug. He brought you such a high, it was like a fever dream. It was something you never wanted to let go. The times you spent with him were like a fairytale.
But then it all came crashing down. Now it all felt so much worse. The highs were high but the lows were so much more lower. The man you once believed to be your long lost soulmate turned out to be just a twinflame, leaving you broken and bruised.
and you wanna scream
don't call me 'kid'
don't call me 'baby'
look at this godforsaken mess
that you made me
you showed me colors
you know i can't see with anyone else
You heard someone call your name, the voice sending shivers down your spine - and not the good kind. You turned around. Max was standing there, staring at you but not saying another word. Hadn't you heard him come after you? Had Daniel paid enough attention to put two and two together? Did he even see Max run after you as you had excused yourself to use the bathroom?
"What do you want, Max? You shouldn't even be here, someone could see us." Your voice was barely above a whisper. You sounded nervous.
Max's mischievous laugh bounced off the walls. He didn't care if someone saw the two of you. Hell, he was almost hoping for someone to catch you there. That would bring a fun end to the evening.
You, on the other hand, wanted to scream. You couldn't believe how Max could act like this. It was infuriating. He was like a child who didn't get what he wanted and now he was taking it out on you and anyone else who dared cross his path of revenge.
"Are you really gonna spend the whole night pretending you're happy and in love with him? Come on, y/n, you're not fooling anyone," Max said as he took a couple of steps closer to you. There was still a gap between your bodies but it was growing smaller with every passing second.
Max tried to reach for your hand but you managed to move away from him just before your bodies had time to touch. "Baby, please-" There was a plea in his voice. Oh, how you had missed him and hearing him call you that. You wanted to jump back into his arms, give in to him and become his. But you didn't.
"No!" Your voice was louder than you had expected it to be, startling both you and Max. "No, you don't get to call me that anymore. You don't get to call me baby or lover or anything like that. Not anymore. Not after you-"
Suddenly you didn't know what to say anymore. Your mind went blank as the two of you stood in the foyer. Pictures flashing in your mind, painting first the story of you and Daniel, then of you and Max.
The moment felt dense. You didn't know what you were doing there or why you even were there. Max had made a mess of you, he had turned you into something you couldn't recognize.
You felt angry. At yourself. At Max. At life. In a blink of an eye, the man who was standing in front of you, had helped you see a different side to life. He had given you the promise of something more only to take it away as soon as you had started to feel comfortable.
Max knew full well what he was doing when he made the first move on you all those months ago. He did it anyway. He didn't care if it ruined you. He wanted something, he took it.
Time stood still. You and Max stared at each other for a few moments longer before you took a deep breathe and walked away from him.
don't call me 'kid'
don't call me 'baby'
look at this idiotic fool that you made me
you taught me a secret language
i can't speak with anyone else
and you know damn well
for you, i would ruin myself
a million little times

Peter
Haylor FANFICTION based off the song Peter by Taylor Swift. <3
First fanfic in a long time, and first one about a celebrity and not a show, so please be gentle with me. It’s a one shot probably and nothing will come of it besides this. 🫣🫠 also my character development is in the works. Harry needs some… help 😅
Forgive me Peter, my lost fearless Leader, in closets like cedar preserved from when we were just kids Is it something I did? The goddess of timing once found us beguiling. She said she was trying; Peter was she lying? My ribs get the feeling she did.
Timing was everything in LA, and the Grammy Awards were no joke. Harry was sweating as he turned away from the crowd. His anxiety was sky high, and he knew that he could not handle the red carpet much longer. He threw one more smile towards the crowd as he departed, heading inside. He knew the cameras would follow, but as soon as he hit the doors, he ducked inside the closest bathroom in hopes that he might get some reprieve. He sighed when he found no one else inside. He leaned against the wall, pushing his sleeves up a little. The sheen of sweat on his upper lip bothered him, his head was aching, and although he was up for a grammy, he wasn't sure he even wanted to be there anymore. He loved his job. He loved this life. But sometimes he just got tired. After a few moments' peace, he used the restroom, washed his hands, and walked out the door.
Right outside the door, he hit something soft. Or rather, someone soft. He let out a small “oof” before steadying himself quickly and then the person in front of him. His green eyes met the most beautiful blue eyes he'd ever seen – ones he'd seen in his dreams for the last12 years. He bit his lip.
“I'm so sorry Taylor. Are you okay?” He asked, his breath caught a little in his throat. He willed his hands to not shake as he held on to her, she still seemed a little unsteady.
“I'm okay, I think. You didn't run into me so much as scare me.” She nervously giggled. She looked around the mostly empty hallway, then stepped back. “I hope to catch up in a bit, but I better go find my date.” She said with a wistful look on her face. She turned and walked away, and Harry could do nothing more than watch her leave. A million thoughts ran through his mind, things he should have said, things he wished he would have done in that moment before she walked away – again. He didn't even want to picture her date. Or think of his own, for that matter. He muttered to himself as he went to go find his date in the crowd.
And I didn't wanna come down; I thought it was just goodbye for now. You said you were gonna grow up then you were gonna come find me ... words from the mouths of babes - promises oceans deep, but never to keep.
Taylor kept her head held high as she walked away from Harry, but she was so glad he couldn't see her face. She remembered after only a moment that the rest of the world was about to see her face too, on camera. She took a shaky breath and composed herself before stepping into the main hall. The place was abuzz with activity, and she knew that the clever hosts had placed her and Harry not too far apart. She had come with hopes of having a good time, so why was she already so rattled? She liked being in his presence. He always calmed her down... Well, not always, if she admitted the truth to herself. But generally. She had taken to being a big supporter of his, and he supported her. She wasn't about to change that just because she was in a relationship. She found her boyfriend at the front of the room, talking with another celebrity. She smiled and tried her best to act interested, but her eyes were looking around for a certain man. She focused on her boyfriend in front of her, and he smiled and put his arm around her. She snuggled up to him, wanting to seem as calm and collected with him as she usually did.
From across the room, she accidentally met Harry's eyes. He was looking right at her. She smiled a weak smile, and he returned the same, and she felt her heart pick up speed. She couldn't be the first to break eye contact, no matter how much she tried. She couldn't force herself. Harry noticed Taylor's boyfriend was trying to say something to her and forced himself to look away, and she finally looked up and spoke
“Sorry, what were you saying? I was zoning out”. She giggled a little and her boyfriend gave her an indulgent smile.
“I was just saying...” And almost immediately Taylor zoned out again, but she avoided looking at Harry. She knew that if she looked at him again, she was going to definitely alert her boyfriend to something.
Are you still a mind reader? A natural scene stealer? I've heard great things Peter, But life was always easier on you Than it was on me. And sometimes it gets me, when crossing your jet stream, we both did the best we could do underneath the same moon in different galaxies. And I didn't wanna hang around We said it was just goodbye for now
Harry did his best at avoiding looking at Taylor, but when it came time for her to accept her award, he gave her his full attention. It was perfect timing; everyone was already paying her attention. He was so proud of all of her accomplishments. She was the shining star she always had been. She was the brightest, most amazing comet. There were so many things that Harry could say about Taylor's writing ability, her music, her singing, her talent in general. She “was” the music industry, as they say. She went on stage, and the moment she got up there, she thanked her boyfriend and Harry's heart plummeted. It was fine. He knew she had a boyfriend. He wasn't insane. His date wrapped her arm around his waist. He smiled at her gently, but his eyes never fully left Taylor's face. He couldn't even properly accept that his date was actually his girlfriend at that very moment. Taylor was his focus. His all. His everything. As she had been, for far too long. Taylor's eyes went from her own boyfriend's right to Harry's, and it all shifted. If she hadn't been so aware of the cameras, Harry had the odd feeling she'd have left her eyes right on his.
The acceptance speech was nothing short of amazing, but her speeches always were. He clapped along with everyone else, but his heart was racing. As she was getting ready to leave the microphone, she said “We said it was just goodbye for now.” And walked off. She didn't even look in his direction, and everyone dismissed it because it was lyrics for one of her songs. But Harry's heart began pounding harder and he couldn't hear anything else. His girlfriend was saying something to him, but he couldn't hear her. He sank to his chair, his anxiety washing over him.
And I won't confess that I waited, but let the lamp burn as the men masqueraded, I hoped you'd return with your feet on the ground, tell me all that you'd learned cause love's never lost when perspective is earned and you said you'd come and get me, but you were twenty-five and the shelf-life of those fantasies has expired. Lost to the “lost boys” chapter of your life. Forgive me Peter, please know that I tried to hold on to the days when you were mine but the woman who sits by the window has turned out the light.
Taylor walked right to her boyfriend, who was looking at her, a confused expression on his face.
“Was the last line in the speech we practiced, babe?” He asked quietly. Taylor shook her head. “No, sometimes I just feel inspired. I'm not really sure what came of it, but it made me feel better to say it.” She smiled at him, and he gave her a puzzled smile back. He shrugged and spoke
“I'm going to go get a drink, do you want something?” She thought about it for a moment and spoke “Maybe some white wine?” Her boyfriend nodded and kissed her cheek and walked away. There was an interlude at that moment and Taylor carried herself over to Harry, who was alone now. She saw he was sitting in a chair, and not standing, and that his date had gone. She knew that his “date” was his girlfriend, but she couldn't put that label to it, for her own heart couldn't handle it. She smiled at the beautiful man in front of her.
“Are you okay, Harry?” She asked, leaning in to hear him reply. “I'm feeling a bit anxious, honestly.” He said, meeting her eyes. Those eyes had always had some kind of spell on Taylor, and she couldn't help but get a bit lost in them. Her twin flame, sitting in front of her, just out of her reach. She knew she should walk away. She knew that Harry knew that last line had been for him. They were never going to be truly over; they were always going to walk that line. She smiled and placed a hand on his shoulder. “It'll all be okay.” She said, and he gave her a smile that she had once coined as his “cheshire grin”. Her heart shuddered. She swallowed hard and spoke
“I better go. It's really good to see you, Harry.” She turned to leave and heard him say quietly
“And I get the feeling that you'll never need me again.” She would have turned around, had her boyfriend not been walking toward her. The next presenter came on the stage, and she walked away, glancing momentarily back at Harry, her eyes willing him to see that she'd always need him.
•fin•
I feel a *little* weird about two celebs so I may focus in the future about Harry x Y/N or Taylor x Y/N type things. We will see.

hello love, could you write something with healy reader and gabriette? like how their relationship works, maybe reader not liking her at first, preferring some other ex from matty and feeling abandoned by matty, and what matty and gabriette do so that reader feels better about them? thank you i love your writing
hc on reader and matty’s gf’s
matty healy + reader + gabriette (+others)
Warnings: language, parents dating, mention of anxiety, idrk, I did a hc my bad
A/n: oh hello random person I’ve never met in my life. Never met before mhm nope. Def not known each other since kindergarten. Nun uh nope. Anywhooo. Enjoy or I’ll find you. (Jokes on you. I’ve know this individual forever and they are the ONLY person in my real life that knows I write this shit and I completely forgot about that(I told them and a 1975 concert btw lmao) and I saw the request and forgot and i laughed at 2am bahahaha) jk love u bie
look at the photo they r so mamma y papa I casaanttttt
Tumblr media
The thought of your dad and his love life makes u want to smile and puke all at the same time
You’ve never had a mom/mother figure growing up
That’s just how it was and you were fine with it
Your dad always told you ‘our family is perfect the way it is’
And you believed him
He had quite a few girlfriends when you were younger
None of which you really cared for
the most serious one in your opinion was with Gabriella
She felt like a true friend
And you were heartbroken when she left your dad
Understandably left your dad
I mean the guy was a mess
Even since those 4 years, u became more aware of how these ‘relationships’ really work
U learned what marriage meant and became fearful that your little family was going to change forever
After your dad and Gabriella broke up it wasn't long after that your dad found fka twigs
That one was a little more complicated
Just because you were growing up and becoming more mature and aware of things that were going on
She was nice to you, you cant deny
But your dad changed immensely while he was with her
He seemed to fall back into some of his old ways and that scared the shit out of you
The dynamic between your dad and you changed, not for the better
It wasn't that you blamed her for your father’s acting out
You blamed him and therefore turned on her too, never saying or doing anything mean, but just avoiding your father and in turn avoiding her too
But the moments where you did connect were lovely
There were just far too few of them
Your dad was even more heartbroken when they broke up which was surprising
You just let him be and made his emotions George’s problem
Charlotte didn't last long
you met her once at a party and they weren't even dating then
You technically weren't even aware they were dating until the news broke that they split
y/n | *1 attachment
y/n | since when did you have a girlfriend
y/n | yall like actually dated???
father healy | yeah lol
father healy | I didn't think it was gonna actually be anything so I never really told you
father healy | my b
y/n | dw.
y/n | sorry you have a complicated love life
father healy | its alright. Youre the only girl I truly need : )
y/n | awe u big ol sap
y/n | maybe you need to try someone whos not a model
y/n | or actress
y/n | just like a normal human ??
father healy | hm ok ill give it a thought
and then he dated fucking taylor swift
“What the actual fuck were you thinking?” You said storming into the dinning room.
“What?” All 4 boys said in unison.
You turnnd tour phone around and showed them all the page six article “Oh shit.”
“You’re dating DOCTOR TAYLOR ALLISON SWIFT?!?!?!”
George slapped him.“We told you to tell her before the rest of the world found out”
“You all knew?!?!”
‘Of course, we knew. We’re his best friend!” Ross said matter of factly.
“And I’m his own flesh and blood! There’s a pecking order!!!” Your gaze fell back to your dad. “You can’t do this.”
“What?”
“Date fucking Taylor Swift! She just got out of a 6-year relationship and you are the problematic guy on TikTok with a couple of good songs.”
“Damn, ok, thanks.” Adam said while bouncing his son up and down.
“You done?” Matty asked, getting serious and parental.
“No.” You said.
Matty gestured for yo to finish.
You thought for a moment and said “Fuck you.” You released a sigh you didnt know you were holding in. “Okay, now I’m done.”
He pated the seat next to him and you climbed over George like you’ve done since you were little to get to the seat. He moved a peace of hair out of your eyes and wiped your tears. “It’s not that serious. Yes, she got out of a 7-year relationship and I’m impossible to love so we’re taking it slow. Alright? And, look, I know you already met her but she would like to”
“Yes.”
All the boys chuckled.
Matty continued. “Listen, I want you to th-”
“Yes.” Matty laughed harder. “Dude it's Taylor Swift.” You said, mater-of-factly.
“Alright.” he sighed.
George pipped in. “Tell her where you’re going this weekend.”
Matty just deadpanned him, wanting to save that news for later.
No fucking way. You were about to lose your shit. “Where are you going this weekend?”
“... Nashville.” He said hesitantly.
“No, you are fucking not.”
“Yes, I am.”
“No, you are fucking not.”
“Yes, I am…And you can come to.”
You cried more. Omfg you were going to the Eras Tour.
He hugged you and kissed your head as you buried your face in your hands. Everyone laughed at your antics. Yu hugged him back and said thank you. “I need to stop making me learn about your relationships through social media.”
“Okay, I’ll try.”
Then they lasted for like a month lmao
When Gabriette came along, he actually told you before he told the internet!!!
You thought she was nice and super pretty
And plus you’ve never seen our dad this happy in a long time
Your dad had asked and made sure it was okay for her to come around during a party
You said it was no biggie but was slightly panicking on the inside
Just because you knew nothing about her
You stuck to George most of the night
Both men were fully aware of what you were doing - retreating into your shell - but didn't comment and instead let you be
You never liked parties in the first place and the added circumstances didn't help
She brought a dish and you coant deny it was killer
The music was really loud but she introduced herself and it was sweet
Matty noticed you later on a couch, staring out into space and sat down next to you
He excused himself from Gabriette and she understood what was happening
You assured your dad it had nothing to do with her or anything it was just the environment you were in
Which was absolutely believable and probably true
It was just your anxiety taking over in a space like this
Anywhooo the night winded down and it was now just you, your dad, and the closest inner circle
Including Gabriette
He pulled her aside again and told her that you were having lil sprouts of anxiety
She 100% understood and told him to do whatever he needed for you
He sat by you the whole night and she sat next to Charli
You became more yourself in the quieter environment
It was a fun end to the night
She spent a few nights over during winter break and you didn't mind
She was fun to be around
You both baked together which was a fun spur of moment things
It was never awkward
It was just fun with her
And you were glad your dad was happy.

so I haven't really found the words to talk about this yet but I'm finally starting to, so here goes -
I'm finding myself with a very minimal, fringe sort of scattered friends in this town. at best I don't fit in with, nor do I have the desire to fit in with, really, any of the travelers or backpackers or working holiday visa people who inhabit this place (btw; anon who warned me not to go here.... 'bogan' isn't what I'd call it but your read on the vibe was right); at worst I'm finding myself on the borderline of being straight up bullied the way I was in high school - no one outright saying mean things to my face, but that very high school esque cocktail of snarky and condescending side comments, people always going off to talk without me, laughing, and stopping laughing immediately once they're back near me, being rude enough to know it's rude but just the right balance where if I say something about it I'm the one who looks weird. how isolating that is and how it pushes you down and down and down and down inside your head. I think as an adult, once you grow up and find yourself out in the world, and get to choose the people you're around, you forget what that was like. Working in the music industry specifically and knowing only one soul in real life with a "regular" job (hi Jo), I've completely forget what that's like. In the spirit of "emotional maturity", I've probably found a way to tell myself it's all kid shit and I made it seem worse than it all was, etc, and maybe it's just people being people.
Maybe that's true.
Specifically, though, the thing I've found myself being harassed over, the main tension point, is my music taste. I've been put into this twilight zone of a reality where everyone around me straight up hates Taylor Swift (in the year 2023 I genuinely didn't think that existed more than a few fringe rondo's, but apparently all those fringe rondo's live in this town), and the ones who don't say "fuck this bitch" out loud every time her music comes on, are, at their warmest, completely indifferent to the fact that she's even alive. I haven't met one person here who would even say they enjoy 1989 or whatever. I work around 20-25 y/o's mostly, and yet I put on Lorde and Maisie and Sabrina and Backseat Lovers and The 1975 and all the pop stuff I'm aware myself and that age group really like (with a bunch of famous Aussie artists thrown in), and I'm asked if we can stop with all the "weird music" and "play things everyone knows and likes" - another twilight zone thing because I had no fucking idea every girl ever wasn't on this type of pop. I put on classic throwback Fall Out Boy and All Time Low and Paramore or even Halsey's hit songs and I'm asked why everything I listen to is "so depressing". I get fully HARASSED about my music taste by the people I work with every single day. like, multiple times an hour snide comments about "weird people music" and shit like that when I really thought my taste was pretty mainstream. then they all put on either like, the most generic of generic Top 40 radio that I didn't even realize people willingly put on; just thought big labels decided it was gonna be successful so shoved it onto commercials and radio and a bunch of Spotify playlists until they gave up, OR music that I literally would need to be borderline overdosing on cocaine to enjoy - I'm talking blasting dubstep club beats and the like... at 5:30am in a coffee shop. And I haven’t said a word to them about it or been mean about it at all, and I try really hard to be polite to them but it just doesn’t matter how nice I am; they feast on me like a pack of hungry lions anyway. I moved here to be outside, and people only ever want to go to the club. Even people I get along with want to go to the damn club every other night at the least, and I’m weird for not wanting to be anywhere near something other than a bar we can have some drinks and laughs - I didn’t even know people still went to clubs, especially not vagabond travelers in an eco tourism hotspot.
And suddenly I am my high school self all over again; feeling completely fucking normal but not falling in, not able to make myself fit no matter how hard I try. I talk to people and people laugh at what I say when we have to make conversation, because, well. I'm fucking likable and I can chat up anybody. and then, for no real reason, 20 minutes later they remember they're supposed to be bullying me and go back to it. just like how it was for me in high school, where I won the “most talkative” superlative and yet when I walked on stage to graduate half the class shouted at me that I was “scum” (lol).
So anyway. That's all to say, I photographed full-band live music last night for the first time in 3 months. And suddenly, doing that, too, I was back in high school. Living in a normal world that everyone else is at and is aware of, but in my own secret pocket of it I've carved out: a pocket where I fit. where I'm still a loser by the standards of everyone around me, but a loser who is doing something objectively cool and objectively impressive, something I thrive at that no one can talk shit about because I'm GOOD. someone I knew but have nothing in common with came up to me last night and said, “I got that you took pictures but then I saw you on stage and was like OHHHH”. and I might not belong anywhere else, might not get along with anyone else, but the second a camera is in my hand and I'm crawling behind a drum kit and jumping off a stage an artist is playing a show on, and the band who I’m acquainted with is smiling at me and they love it, and everyone sees me doing it... I belong there, and I know I belong there, and no naysayer can do or say a word about it... that's what it's all about. like the loser theater kid who comes alive on a stage in front of people when they perform and no one can argue with it anymore. I remembered why I do what I do last night. How I found it (or maybe how it found me) suddenly makes sense all over again; not some poorly made impulsive choice by a girl who was too influenced by wanting to be around the boy bands she liked, committed too hard and got stuck - which is how I've seen it in adult hindsight. live music is the faction of the world that I am just the perfect puzzle piece for. somehow the most niche thing in the world - and it does seem niche once again when surrounded by people like this - is my only solid ground in this life. I am my truest self when I am running around with a camera while someone's singing; a self that anyone can see and immediately will get it. and that's just how it is.

good evening. it is 22:18 pm. my flight leaves in 14 hours. i spoke 2 the moon today and she said that i can't start packing until i get rid of the worms in my brains and the narratives in my heart in the form of ao3 formatted fic ideas that rotate in my mind at the speed of light.
broken window serenade [matthew tkachuk/leon draisaitl] alternate universe - yellowstone fusion, childhood friends to enemies to lovers, internalized homophobia, cowboys & ranch hands Everyone knows the Tkachuks around here. They own the biggest ranch south of Montana, hundreds of hectares of grazing land nestled on the border in between Missouri and Nebraska. Leon's been a part of the ranch since before he could even ride a horse. He knows this place better than the back of his hand, knows his way around the business and the politics that come with being Keith Tkachuk's right-hand man and the leader of the ranch hands. So it's not a problem at all when Keith falls ill and the ranch is left to Brady and him in the meantime. Not a problem at all, when Matthew shows up for the first time in eleven years, like Leon hadn't spent the same amount of time convincing himself that Matthew was a figment of his imagination. That he didn't leave him in the middle of the night, didn't ruin everything and everyone else for Leon after that.
more notes: my toxic white middle age conservative trait is that i love yellowstone. look the show is Not The Best but WHATEVER i fucking love cowboy hats so much and i think for the benefit of my health i need to imagine leon draisaitl on a horse. anyways leon is a poor little canadian-german orphan (do NOT ask me how he got to missouri) who has been a part of the ranch since he was young, growing up with matthew as their friendship turned from deeply codependent childhood besties into fucking around together. and then matthew leaves one morning after he comes out to his dad and disappears for the next 11 years which ruins leon. and now keith's in the hospital with a stroke and matthew's back and leon just wants to run him over with a horse! something about the sincerity of childhood relationships and also the first bond you make in a new and strange place and the idea of being each other's comfort. and having that all taken away from you without a choice. and having it walk back into your life dressed in a business casual suit. there is also the version of this that exists. from matthew's perspective but like. always more narratively interesting to dig into the one who got left behind.
so good at being trouble [jack hughes/nico hischier] rule 63, alternate universe - celebrity, jack hughes is not a hockey player, getting together, secret relationship, mixed media, outsider POV, Pop Base @popbase Jack Hughes spotted with Nico Hischier, captain of the New Jersey Devils (NHL), at dinner in Los Angeles.
more notes: i'm not even a swiftie but the travis kelce and taylor swift of it all REALLY got to me. and then trevor's whole thing with the tiktok influencer and getting publicized via alex's ig is sooooo. and the wag christmas pics. i'm in shambles island over here. i'm gnawing on a bone that is pop star/professional athlete of it all. i want jack to show up slyly in the pictures and nobody knows if she's there because of luke or because of nico. i thought this would be full pov fic but it is so much more tastier as a mixed media/snippets in between type of fic because i want nothing more than to lean into the media machine that haunts their relationship. also luke having a meltdown that his captain and his sister are dating.
love is no island [trevor zegras/jamie drysdale], alternate universe - not a hockey player, love island fusion, getting together, no shirts no shoes but trevor still gets service, It was a joke, but it wasn't really a joke, because Trevor had been single for too long when he saw a post advertising Love Island applications appear on his phone. He's never been out of luck before, doesn't really know what to do without something to occupy his time and his hands. Even his social media algorithm knows this. It had been the best idea of his life. Then again, everything sounds like the best idea of his life after six shots and a fruity cocktail on an empty stomach.
more notes: ok i binged love island s6 throughout thanksgiving break and i've been thinking about the similarity of being put in a high-stakes fast paced environment and the semblance of intimacy that it creates in hockey and in love island. i'm thinking very deeply of trevor who can't sort his private vs public feelings and is also scared that this means nothing to jamie, whose friends signed him up on a lark and doesn't actually want to be here. nothing much to do but to fall in love and it feels a little too inevitable and maybe too easy. they sweep the voting and win the grand prize and fly back and go. oh. now what.
like the best that you've had [trevor zegras/jamie drysdale] rule 63, women in the NHL, 2023-2024 NHL season, getting together, "So like," Mason starts, having slowly skated his way over to Jamie as they're doing cool down laps. Practice ended an hour ago, but Trevor wanted extra reps at defending and to torture Mason for whatever reason, and it turned into keep and chase that ended with Trevor straddling Jamie, trying to face wash him on the ice. "You and Trevor a thing, huh?" They weren't particularly subtle if Mason's figured it out in his first practice with the team. Jamie blushes. "Oh. Good luck." Mason nods sagely, patting Jamie on the back before skating away quickly.
more notes: girl trevor is a female coyote who's ready to EAT. deeply inspired by top dog by magdalena bay. i've been thinking about the dynamics of women in the nhl (see: bingo board) for a long time and trevor would make the best girl in the game, so deeply sure about herself, loudly wants and hasn't ever felt shy a day in her life. i keep thinking about how jamie would go insane. specifically i wanna pick away at the dynamic that is being deeply in love with someone that everyone keeps telling you not to fall in love with. not that there's anything wrong with girl trevor but she looks like she chews on boys' heart for fun and spits them out clean as a whistle after. and she does! the first three months of living together, jamie runs into way too many guys that look heartbroken while getting kicked out like!
call this place my home [matthew tkachuk/leon draisaitl/connor mcdavid] rule 63, accidental pregnancy, developing relationship, polyamorous relationship, alternate universe, 2022-2023 NHL season Leon and Connor have been tied on the leaderboard for the past week, like they can't figure out who should win the Art Ross trophy this season, passing the puck back and forth in between them on the way to the net. They did the same to Matthew during Toronto, because they always liked sharing everything. Now she's staring at a positive pregnancy test. Go figure.
more notes: saving the best for last because THIS IS SO FUCK NASTY AND INDULGENT, i am not above this apparently. look i keep thinking about matthew getting pregnant and deciding to keep it and not knowing who's the father is and haha well the three of them have been. sort of a thing anyways. for the past year so maybe they should just? not figure out? and she's going to miss the rest of the season anyways so she might as well stay in edmonton. the baby's got to have canadian citizenship. surely. also german citizenship. the baby will play for team usa though. i think there are a lot of fun questions to explore like how do you acknowledge you are in a deeply committed polyamorous relationship and also how does having a kid change that. also how does having a kid change YOU and your own definition of love. how do you learn to put faith and hope into the wide changing world and trust that you will be okay no matter what happens. the pregnancy is actually a metaphor, you see,

Tumblr media
It was a pretty quiet day in the Holland house. Dom and Nikki, along with his brothers, were all out of town on a "vacation" of sorts. Tom ended up staying home to take care of Tessa. He was pretty excited to finally have the house to himself for once, especially since that meant he could invite you over. Everyone knew that you were his best friend-you've been there for him during some of the hardest times in his life. You've known him since before his first Marvel role, and you were so blessed that you got to see him grow up in his own little ways.
You and Tom knew practically everything about each other. He could always tell when you were having a bad day or vice versa, and knew exactly what to do. So, when you showed up on his front porch for the scheduled hangout with a fake smile on your face, he knew something was wrong. He tried to get you to talk to him several times, but eventually just let it be. He knew you well enough to trust that if it was serious you'd come to him in your own time.
You two started your TV marathon-Brooklyn Nine-Nine, of course- and sat down on the living room couch. Tessa immediately curled up in between you both. You leaned into Tom's chest, allowing him to wrap his arms around you providing the casual comfort only a best friend could. His and Tessa's presence and breathing calmed you significantly, even as your thoughts weighed heavily on your mind.
"What if he doesn't support me? What if he breaks off the friendship? What if he hates me?"
Your brain ran through all of the possible outcomes with anxiety, thoughts whirling through your head at what felt like 50 miles an hour. Only when Tom's hand squeezed your arm gently did you come out of it, shooting an apologetic smile at your best friend. He nodded in understanding, holding you just a little closer as if he could protect you from the negative thoughts he didn't even know were there.
Logically, you knew Tom would probably be supportive. He'd had so many positive interactions with LGBTQ fans and family alike, but for some reason your brain thought it would be different. Oh well, you figured, might as well get it over with.
However, the second you opened your mouth, you felt your blood run cold. You quickly shut it again, hoping Tom didn't notice your little speaking mishap.
In reality, Tom definitely noticed. It only made him more concerned for you. You'd been off the whole day, not paying attention to the show at all. He knew all he had to do was wait for you to come to him, but he was still anxious as hell. Tom was a helper, and he had never felt the need to help more than he did in this moment.
"Want to go get some ice cream, Y/N?" he asked, a smile on his face. Your eyes brightened up as you nodded, jumping off the couch. "Okay, I'll get Tessa's leash on. You wanna grab a hoodie from my closet?" As you nodded again, he went to grab Tessa's leash and let you do your thing. You came back downstairs a minute later, all ready to go.
Tom put Tess in the backseat, making sure she was secure. The minute you got in, you stole the aux and Taylor Swift started blaring. When Tom scoffed, you smirked unabashedly-it was Taylor Swift. The ride to the ice cream parlor was uneventful, filled with quieter music and Tessa's paws on your arm. It was peaceful, and for a moment you were finally able to relax.
The bell dinged as you both walked into the shop, Alex coming over to greet you.
"Hey, loves! How's it going?" they grinned, already preparing your orders and Tess' whipped cream.
"Pretty okay, Alex! Mom and Dad are out of town, so me and dingus here are having a sleepover." Tom smiled, making sure Tessa didn't try to sneak behind the counter again. As soon as Alex got your orders prepared, Tom motioned to head out to the car, but you shook your head.
"Is it alright if I stay back and talk to Alex for a sec?" At his nod, you walked back in to find Alex sitting at one of the tables with a milkshake. They smiled and motioned for you to sit down. Nose deep in their milkshake, they motioned for you to continue.
Alex was one of the most open people you've ever met. They made it public knowledge they were trans, and you looked up to them very much.
You gulped. "How..how did you come out to your best friend?" Alex immediately sat up a little straighter and made eye contact with you.
"Well, honestly I feel like they knew. I kind of just came out with it outright. They were so supportive, and honestly it went really well. Why? IS there something you need to tell me?" they asked, a glint in their eyes.
"I'm pan, Alex." you stated, eyes widening when they giggled a bit.
"Dude. I know. I also know that you're terrified to tell Tom, am I right?" At your shrug, they continued, "I can promise you 100% that he's going to support you. He's your best friend, and above all an awesome person. I think you should do it. You got this kiddo," they beamed. Standing up to hug them with tears in your eyes, you started walking out. They grabbed your shoulder, and whispered "it's gonna be fine." Planting a kiss on your cheek, you finally met Tom outside.
You ate your ice cream on the way home, quite enjoying the newfound confidence the chat with Alex gave you.
The second you got home, Tessa jumped on the couch with you, effectively taking Tom's spot. He playfully glared at Tess and scooted her over until he was sat beside you. Turning on the movie, he felt you snuggle up to him and relaxed.
Your heart was beating, however, as you sat up again. "Tom. I really need to get this out and I've been thinking about it for a while, it's completely fine if you don't accept it. I mean it's not fine, it'll suck ass, but I understand-"
our best friend cut you off by placing his hand over your mouth, taking his turn to speak. "Y/N. Please just tell me. I won't judge you, I pinky-promise."
"I..shit. I'm pan."
Realization flashed across his features, and before your eyes could get too teary he pulled you into his chest.
"That's okay, kiddo. I know. I've got you, it's okay love." He continued murmuring support into your ear as your eyes got heavy. You knew you were going to fall asleep soon. You placed your hand on Tessa's head by muscle memory as she scooted towards you, finding enough strength in you to say three words.
"I love you," you sighed sleepily, your best friend's face going soft again at those words. He murmured his reply, but you were already fast asleep. The last thing you registered was the feeling of being loved, and you wouldn't trade it for the world.

c. | michaela shannon finch.
she's a badass with a big heart. –r.h. sin
Tumblr media
Is that CAMILLA LUDDINGTON? No, that’s just MICHAELA FINCH. They were born on 12/15/1977 and are a (FLOWER) FAIRY living in Northknot Town. They work as a NEUROSURGEON. Some say they're FRIENDLY and INTUITIVE, but I’ve heard others say they're STUBBORN and DEFIANT. When you think of HER, don’t you think of A KIND SMILE AND KNOWING EYES, A RECORD PLAYER FILLING THE WHOLE HOUSE WITH SOFT SOUNDS, AND THE SOUND OF RAIN AGAINST A WINDOW?
A E S T H E T I C
THE SOUND OF RAIN AGAINST A WINDOW. THE FELLING OF WARMTH WHILE CUDDLING UP ON A COUCH WITH A KNITTED BLANKET. A KIND SMILE AND KNOWING EYES. THE FEELING OF ACCOMPLISHMENT AFTER FINISHING A HARD TASK. THE SOUND OF A RECORD PLAYER FILLING THE WHOLE HOUSE. THE WARM SMELL OF COFFEE. MARCHING FOR A WOMEN'S RIGHT MOVEMENT.
M U S I C    P L A Y E R
“  I do what I want (she does), say what you say. I work real hard every day. I'm a motherfucking woman, baby, alright. ” woman by kesha “  They wouldn't shake their heads and question how much of this I deserve. What I was wearing, if I was rude... Could all be separated from my good ideas and power moves . ” the man by taylor swift “  But I won't let them break me down to dust. I know that there's a place for us–- For we are glorious. ” this is me by keala settle
P E R S O N A L I T Y
When asked about, people tend to describe Michaela as a total girls girl. She's kind and genuinely cares for others. She's never been the type to try to bring someone down to help herself. Michaela will always consider everyones feelings. But that doesn't mean she's a push over either. Her kind heart doesn't mean she'll hesitate to put someone in their place. Especially when it comes to her children, 'Mama Bear' is always ready for them. She's a very active and hard working woman. Doesn't let anything stop her from her goals. Which isn't a bad thing, but has gotten her in trouble from time to time. Mainly when she was younger, but once in awhile even now.
H E A D C A N O N S
Growing up, Michaela was always someone who other's would describe as "ahead of her times." She'd run around like most children, but also had moments where she'd just stop and really think about things that most children didn't. She didn't just accept most things told to her. As soon as she could read, the girl didn't stop researching anything and everything. She needed to know the why's and how things could change. She always knew she wanted to be a doctor. The only thing that changed was what she'd specialise in. She wanted to help everyone and focusing on one thing didn't always sit right with her. Micha just wanted to do it all and help everyone. The old she got, the more she was able to realise what seemed to call out to her. Due to always being so into school, she was able to get into a school of her choice and graduated at the top of her glass. When she was twenty, she found out she was pregnant, and while it hadn't been part of her plan in that moment... She knew she wanted a family. So she decided to not only keep the baby, but also to not let it stop her from her goal. A lot of people judged her for not slowing down. They all assumed she'd overwork herself but she proved them all wrong. Even before her kids were born, she was setting examples for them. Having Beckett changed her life. Michaela wasn't a selfish perseon, but all her goals shifted. They became goals she wanted for her family. She wanted to prove that if you want something badly enough, you can do it. So she always encouraged her kids to go after what they wanted. Nowadays, Michaela is still pretty much the same. She has everything she's ever wanted. With all the threats, she has been on edge a little because she's afraid to have any of it taken away from her.
C O N N E C T I O N S
husband. to be plotted. must be mermaid (merman). but would love for them to have dated broke up and got back together (could have been because she was pregnant)... struggled a bit but made it work. and have been happy since. (fc suggestion: john krasinski, ryan gosling, open to 40+) best friend. i would love for her to have a friend that she's just had since childhood. the two did everything together, but once they were older, they didn't end up doing the same thing, but they never let that get in their way. they still support each other all the way. work friend. someone who started their career around the same time as michaela. so they really went through it together. might have friendly competition as work, but never actually argue about it. frenemy. someone who just bumps head with michaela a lot. the two are both pretty stubborn and somehow end up seeing each other a lot. they don't always disagree, but still just can't seem to be on the same page at the same time.

'tell me what you gon' do to me/confrontation ain't nothin new to me/you can bring a bullet, bring a sword/bring the morgue, but you can't bring the truth to me/fuck you and all you expectations/i don't even want your congratulations/i recognize your false confidence/and calculated promises all in your conversation' - all the stars (kendrick lamar, sza)
