Iā€™ve gotten a couple of comments on a shitpost of mine about Au Lait, where I rip on Taichiā€™s outfit. So Iā€™m gonna take the shitpost seriously for a minute. Keep in mind, the age of majority in Japan is 20. Every single person in this series is underage. Also keep in mind that Mew Mew Power is the name of the dub. As far as I know, the Japanese version did not alter the girlsā€™ ages at all. If you notice, 2020 Re-Turnā€™s redesigns added more fabric to every girlā€™s outfit (even if itā€™s only lace, like in Zakuro and Retasuļæ½ļæ½s). Purinā€™s dress is a little longer than her bodysuit, Mintoā€™s is longer than her OG dress, and even Ringo (who only appeared in a drawing by Mia Ikumi) got extra fabric covering her chest. Bows were placed to cover the large areas of open space on the girlsā€™ chests. Look at the boysā€™ outfits. Every single one of them has an exposed midriff (minus Ayato), which is ā€œfineā€ (not really, but yā€™know) because theyā€™re boys and 17, older than Zakuro was with her midriff. Curiously, the oldest boy is wearing the most clothes, as is honorary Mew Mew Anzu, who hasnā€™t been shown out of her school uniform. I included her as a contrast to the boys, who have been highly sexualized. Taichi is wearing the absolute least amount of clothing, in bloomers, a very tiny midriff crop top (itā€™s shorter than the other boysā€™), and detached sleeves. I actually think his outfit is a tribute to Zakuroā€™s, with sleeves added because Iā€™m pretty sure Zakuroā€™s outfit on a 14 year old wouldnā€™t fly today. But it super bothers me that Taichi is the least covered of all the boys and heā€™s also the youngest. Yes, the magical girl (and now magical boy) genre has a problem with the sexualization of children. Look at Sailor Moon, who popularized it - every single one of those girls wears a skirt that barely covers her ass. (And I say this as an avid Sailor Moon fan.) Hell, even the OG TMM had several art book pictures in provocative poses and skimpy clothing. To be fair, it seems that the magical girls/boys are treated much the same way fledging actresses are in Japan. Many (last I heard was close 80%) are doing grauvre work to break into the industry as young as 12. This post isnā€™t intended to attack Tokyo Mew Mew or Au Lait. I enjoy the series as a whole, was ridiculously excited for the magical boy reboot, and have never had a serious problem with their costuming. I made a single shitpost about Taichiā€™s reveal (using the exact picture of him Iā€™ve put here) and literally only two people commented ā€œoh I guess you arenā€™t familiar with the OG seriesā€ and it annoyed me. If you want to take a shitpost seriously, Iā€™ll do that, but I donā€™t especially want to because it means breaking down the series (and every magical girl series, tbh) into exactly why itā€™s problematic, the changing attitudes towards what is and isnā€™t okay and what was and is no longer okay, and the sexualization of children. And nobody really wants to trash their treasured series over a shitpost. This post is just a side by side comparison of every single Mew outfit (plus Anzu), in an attempt to justify the original shitpostā€™s statement that Taichi is both scantily-clad and young, and it makes me uncomfortable. At least Purin got a bodysuit.

can i ask kuroo taking a drunk girl home (they don't know each other) and protecting her after seeing her being harassed by some guys in a bar or something? thanks! šŸ’œ love your blog sm.
Yes, you totally can! Iā€™m so weak for Kuroo if you havenā€™t already pieced that together, Iā€™m writing this for me, too :ā€™) Fem reader ahead!
-
ā€œLeaving already?ā€ Kuroo asks as Kai stands and grabs his coat from the back of his chair.Ā
ā€œYup.ā€ He shrugs apologetically.Ā ā€œThe baby will be up at 6 am whether Iā€™m ready to be or not, and I like to let Ikumi get as much sleep as she can. Maybe next time, weā€™ll have you guys over for dinner instead of meeting at a bar.ā€ He grins.Ā ā€œWeā€™re getting older, you know.ā€
Kuroo canā€™t deny that. At 25, itā€™s not much of a surprise to him or anyone else that Kai has been the first to settle down. Even so, they still find the time every few months to get together along with Yaku and hang out for the evening. Itā€™s comfortable, and he really enjoys seeing his old friends.
He shakes his head.Ā ā€œGot that right. See ya around.ā€ He lifts a hand in farewell.
ā€œYeah, Kuroo, I think Iā€™m gonna head out too, actually.ā€ Yaku stands up as well.Ā ā€œI promised Hinami Iā€™d stop over at her place yet tonight, soā€¦ā€
ā€œHey, donā€™t sweat it.ā€ He waves his hand dismissively.Ā ā€œIt was a great night, guys. Weā€™ll plan something again soon.ā€
ā€œFor sure.ā€ Kai grins.Ā ā€œLater!ā€ He and Yaku leave the bar together, and Kuroo looks down at his half-full beer. Itā€™s a Wednesday and there isnā€™t much going on around him, so he decides to take his time and finish his drink before heading back to his own apartment. There isnā€™t anyone waiting there for him, anyway.
Itā€™s almost 11:00 when he finally steps outside, and the fall air definitely has a bite to it. Heā€™s so focused on getting back to the warmth of his apartment that he almost doesnā€™t hear the conversation taking place a few feet away from him on the sidewalk.
ā€œHey, little lady. You got anything goinā€™ on tonight?ā€ He freezes. Itā€™s not hard to tell that the speaker is drunk. Heā€™s leaning hard on his friend, who doesnā€™t look much better for wear.Ā ā€œWe cā€™n show you a good time.ā€
ā€œN-no. No thank you, I, no.ā€ Itā€™s pretty apparent that youā€™re drunk, too. They have you backed into a corner, and youā€™re shrinking into yourself. Your hands are lifted defensively in front of you.
ā€œAw, cā€™mon.ā€ Now his friend speaks up.Ā ā€œWeā€™re not far from here.ā€ He reaches out and grabs your arm, and thatā€™s when Kuroo finally shoves aside the voice that tells him to keep walking.
ā€œā€˜Scuse me.ā€ he draws to his full height, which is inches above either of your harassers, and turns in your direction.Ā ā€œI believe the lady said sheā€™s not interested.ā€
ā€œBack off.ā€ One of the drunks hisses at him.Ā ā€œMind yer own business.ā€
ā€œWhy donā€™t you let her mind hers?ā€ Up close, he can see that youā€™re shaking. It dissolves some of his own fear.Ā ā€œOr your business might become my business.ā€ He hopes the expression heā€™s making is menacing, because it feels more like a grimace.
ā€œAlright, dude, just chill.ā€ The first guy mutters, finally backing up and dragging his friend with him.Ā  When theyā€™re finally gone, Kuroo turns his full attention to you.
ā€œAre you alright?ā€ At his words, you burst into tears, letting your face fall into your hands.Ā ā€œAh.ā€ He awkwardly pats your back.Ā ā€œDonā€™t worry. Theyā€™re gone.ā€
ā€œIā€™m so sorry.ā€ You blubber.Ā ā€œI shouldā€™ve never stayed this late.ā€ It all starts to spill out.Ā ā€œI was supposed to meet this guy and he didnā€™t show, and so instead of going home like my roommate said I should, I decided to stay for a few more drinks anyway, cause like, why not?ā€ You lift your hands in a helpless shrug, revealing your tear-stained face.Ā
ā€œHey, itā€™s fine. Those guys were douche bags, but those types usually donā€™t put up too much of a fight.ā€ For both of your sakes, Kuroo is glad thatā€™s the case.Ā ā€œItā€™s over, so letā€™s just get you home. Lead the way.ā€Ā
You open your mouth to protest, but something in his expression makes you close it again. For the first time, he realizes youā€™re only wearing a thin sweatshirt.Ā ā€œDidnā€™t you bring a jacket?ā€
You sniffle.Ā ā€œNo.ā€ You admit.
ā€œHere.ā€ He shrugs his off without a momentā€™s hesitation, wrapping it around your shoulders. The breeze finds its way quickly through the loose weave of his flannel shirt, but with your hands pulled up into the sleeves of his jacket, at least you will be a little warmer.
ā€œIā€™m sorry. Thank you.ā€ You whisper.Ā ā€œItā€™sā€¦ itā€™s just a few blocks this way.ā€ You almost trip over your feet when you start walking, and immediately his hand is at your elbow.Ā ā€œSorry.ā€ You whisper again.
ā€œDonā€™t worry about it.ā€ For a few moments, the two of you walk in silence. At a crosswalk waiting for the light to change, he speaks up again.Ā ā€œThat guy is a jerk.ā€ You look up at him, confused.Ā ā€œThe one who never showed up.ā€
ā€œAh.ā€ You laugh weakly.Ā ā€œIt was just some random tinder thing. I donā€™t even know why Iā€™m on it, or why I even agreed to meet him.ā€ You squeeze your fists around the fabric of his jacket. It has a nice smell to it.Ā ā€œProbably gonna go home and delete the app.ā€ The light turns, and you make your way across the street.
ā€œProbably a good plan.ā€ Kuroo hums in agreement. For some reason, you feel your cheeks growing warmer than theyā€™d been from the alcohol.
ā€œUm, Iā€™m just up here.ā€ You gesture to your apartment building. A few more yards, and youā€™re there.Ā ā€œTh-thank you. Really. A lot.ā€ You stutter, getting frustrated with yourself. You take a deep breath.Ā ā€œYou didnā€™t have to help me, but Iā€™m glad you did. I donā€™t know what I would have done-ā€
ā€œItā€™s no big deal.ā€ He cuts you off. You smile apologetically and shrug off his jacket, handing it back to him. ā€œUmā€¦ā€ He rakes his hand through his hair, dipping his head. Suddenly, he feels a little bashful.Ā ā€œGod, I hope this isnā€™t weird.ā€ He fishes into his jacket pocket and pulls out a pen and his receipt from the bar, scribbling down his phone number before he can think better of it.Ā ā€œGive me a call if you ever need a body guard. Or coffee.ā€Ā
ā€œOkay.ā€ You take the receipt and look down at his messy, firm script. The heat in your cheeks is definitely from more than the alcohol.Ā ā€œI will.ā€ He turns to go before you can see the smile break across his face.
(Iā€™ll die if someone requests a continuationā€¦ā€¦ā€¦.. what who said that)

Some Notes on what the grown-ups are up to...(Part 1 | SnKimiko Related)
So hey, I am not quite tired yet but too tired to draw so welp, I guess weā€™re doing this instead.Ā
Honestly, recently Iā€™ve realized that I havenā€™t really explored the careers the canon characters pursue within in my Next Gen Fanfic. Which is mainly because I honestly havenā€™t thought that much about it but rather only ever held some rough ideas. Thereā€™s reasoning to that but that mainly has to do with myself but I donā€™t have to get into that in detail now. Itā€™s a lot about the fact that Iā€™m still a pretty young person with not the best understanding of how the world works yet...but Iā€™m working on it!
So meep, I thought I could write down some actual notes for some info regarding what the canon characters are up to whenĀ ā€œShokugeki no Kimikoā€ takes place. Iā€™m still a little unsure about them (so donā€™t be surprised if I eventually change things up later), so Iā€™d gladly appreciate feedback honestly!Ā
Anyway, that lengthy intro aside...letā€™s get into it, I guess ; 7 ;
-
MegumiĀ
Megumi Aldini-Tadokoro, formerly just Tadokoro, lives in her hometown in Tohoku and took over the position as itā€™s head-chef after her mother retired. The news that a Totsuki graduate, and not just any graduate but a former Elite 10 member, took over the Ryokan certainly drove a lot of people to the place.Ā
Megumiā€™s wisdom regarding hospitality and her outstanding talents in the culinary field ultimately improved the tourism of the region immensely. The Ryokan is praised for the traditional Japanese atmosphere, exquisite food and, of course, the welcoming atmosphere and the warmth with which the guests are welcomed with.Ā
Given that her priorities are certainly the customers and building a relationship with them even if it is for only one day, Megumi always resigned off from opening another restaurant. She canā€™t be at all at the same time after all and in her mind it would make everything less personal. However itā€™s at a time where Megumi already earned a name for herself and instead of mocking her decision asĀ ā€œtoo limitedā€ orĀ ā€œnot enough visionā€, sheā€™s respected by the culinary world.Ā
Despite the fact though that the Ryokan is her prime focus, she does help out her husband Isami with new recipe ideas or other advice for the Trattoria-Aldini-Branch whenever he asks her. She does help out in the restaurants themselves as well, once or twice a year. Which is always made out to be a great deal.Ā
She often gets invited to various hotels throughout a year and occassionally, sheā€™ll take the offer and arranges a special banquet for one night for the hotelā€™s guests to enjoy. Itā€™s certainly always an event to behold and something that every hotel, sheā€™s served so far, wears with pride.Ā
Sheā€™s mother to three children, two sons and one daughter. The oldest son, Hiroshi Aldini-Tadokoro, is a current higschool first year in Totsuki and a member of the 115th Generation. Her two twin-children Nino and Maja Aldini-Tadokoro still visit a primary school in the local area. They will be part of the future 119th Generation of Totsuki.Ā
Takumi
Takumi Aldini lives in Tuscany and is the head-chef of the originalĀ ā€œTrattoria Aldiniā€ where he grew up in. But itā€™s not just that...
With the help of his business-knowledgeable wife Ikumi and of course his loyal brother Isami, Takumi build a successful brand out of the Trattoria which expands all over the world, having restaurants in almost every noteworthy city. Itā€™s, additionally, kept affordable. Itā€™s not something that the normal middle-class man can eat in each and everyday but it certainly is something he can go to once in a while.Ā
Takumi is managing the restaurants within the West, so mainly Europe and America. (Isami is taking care of the restaurants in the East)Ā
At the same time, the original Trattoria keeps him busy as well given that as the first and original Trattoria it has a bit of a cult-status and is on every touristā€™s To-Do list that comes into the area. Whenever Isami and his family come over to Tscany, things become even more lively as many foodies would kill for the opportunity to see the infamous Aldine-Family and especially the Mezzaluna-Siblings in action.Ā
Takumi has one daughter with Ikumi: Mika Aldini, a student of Totsukiā€™s 115th Generation.Ā
Alice
After her cousin Erina vanished alongside Soma, the Totsuki-Empire was eventually laid into the hands of the so-often-overlooked Alice Nakiri, making her the new headmistress of Totsuki once Senzaemon retired.Ā
There were a few doubtful voices regarding Aliceā€™s Election as new head of this enormous branch, as so many had always pictured Erina in that position. But over time, these voice where shut down as Alice managed to fulfill her job pretty well.Ā Some of her strategies or ideas might sound eccentric or unconditional at first, but thereā€™s always logic and a certain wisdom to them. Also, Alice always had a great understanding of what she wants and how to get it which does make her a solid, cunning and to-beware negotiator.
She also does a lot for the intellectual part of Totsuki by expanding itā€™s library, funding research projects in fields other than strictly cooking, diversify the range of languages taught on Totsuki...etc.Ā
As her profession as Totsukiā€™s headmistress consumes her quite a bit, Alice was only able to open two restaurants: one in Tokyo, calledĀ ā€œSnestormā€ and one in Copenhagen, calledĀ ā€œYukidokeā€. Both are reservation-only places where she serves her experimental and unique culinary ideas. Snestorm is more focused on Western ideas, so to speak, while Yukidoke is more Eastern-orientated.Ā
She has two twin-daughters with her husband Ryo: Lola Nakiri and Mona Nakiri, both members of the 115th Generation of Totsuki. She and her family definitely remain the apex of Japanā€™s culinary landscape. They host a yearly Summer-Ball which is one of the grandest, biggest and most anticipated events for any person worth their salt within the culinary industry.
Akira
With the reputation of having survived Totsuki and ending up amongst the 10 best students backing him up, Akira opens four highly-successful restaurants over the years between his graduation from Totsuki and the current timeline of ā€œShokugeki no Kimikoā€. Currently, heā€™s outlining plans for a restaurant in the US.
His first is calledĀ ā€œSonaā€ and is located in Tokyo and also known as Akiraā€™sĀ ā€œmain restaurantā€ so to speak. Over the years it has grown into a small palace and its one of pricey but also praised restaurants within the city. Quite a few rich ladies would die to have their wedding taking place there, as one certainly feels like some sort-off Mid-East royal stepping into the place.Ā
The second is calledĀ ā€œSignumā€Ā and is located in Singapore. Whatā€™s special about this restaurant is that the menu changes drastically every year. The concept is basically that each year, Signum serves a different kind of cuisine. One year itā€™s Thai, the other itā€™s Indian, then itā€™s Turkish, then Malaysian and so on. Akira announces this yearā€™s menu on each New Years Party hosted by the Hayamas in Sona.
The third is calledĀ ā€œSolarisā€Ā and is located in Kairo. Akira got inspired to open it, because of his sonā€™s enthusiasm regarding travels to Egypt. It serves mainly all different sorts of curry but also various specialities of Mid-Eastern cuisines.Ā
The fourth is calledĀ ā€œLilac Gardenā€ and itā€™s the first one to not start with anĀ ā€œSā€ and this one is more dedicated to his daughter. Itā€™s located in Herakleion on Kreta. Itā€™s honestly a bit more of a cafĆ© and has a truly beautiful pavilion that offers an enchanting look on the sea. Whatā€™s noteworthy is that the entire place is decorated with all sorts of flowers.Ā
Aside from being busy with restaurants, Akira does actually time to time support Aliceā€™s more academic advances in Totsuki by teaching seminars. Itā€™s a rare occurrence but whenever he does, a broad number of students come rushing.Ā
He also found himself a little hobby in a little side-business as perfumer. Originally, he only wanted to construct a perfume for his wife Hisako as a little surprise for an anniversary and ended up thinking:Ā ā€œWhy not make some money out of this?ā€ While the perfume for Hisako of course is a Hisako-Only-Creation that will never make it into the public hands, he did bring 3 other perfumes to the market that sell pretty well.Ā
Akira has two children with Hisako, a son and a daughter. The son, Akio Hayama, is part of the 114th Generation and a member of Totsukiā€™s current Elite 10. The daughter, Kaori Hayama, is part of the 115th Generation as well as itā€™s valedictorian.Ā

facts about me I may not have mentioned before
I started drawing when I was 12 out of a desire to draw humanized mlp fanart
my first crush was twilight sparkle when I was 14, I regret this fact but it's true so I won't hide it.
I love collecting miniatures and things like nendoroids!
I had this stupid phase where I would call (particularly anime) lesbian ships "yuri, yuri, yuri" bc I was still feeling awkward about the word lesbian.
My favorite outfit would be a flannel shirt (from the men's department if possible), converse and jeans
my favorite fictional character is hanayo koizumi
I've tried a ton of ADHD medicine and none of them work very well so don't sweat it if it takes a while for medicine to work
for the longest of time I just drew in a general crappy anime style before finding a style I enjoy and fits me
I really like catgirls, it's kinda embarrassing but come on cats and girls in the same concept? that's fucking gold
I really enjoy girly things despite my usual fashion style and the fact i'm non binary, it's hard finding a balance that doesn't keep me from the things I enjoy but doesn't give me dysphoria
my first anime/manga was tokyo mew mew and it's actually really cute?? the manga affected my art style for like a year though I really admired Mia Ikumi's style
despite being almost 18 I still don't have my driver's lisence
I've tried just about every free art program online as well as photoshop, paint tool sai and manga studio, I personally like paint tool sai the best however
when I started drawing all i'd use was crappy copy paper, if you do need cheap doodle paper I do actually recommend copy paper
it took me a long time to get comfortable with the term lesbian?? like my sexuality has confused me a lot but now knowing comp het is a real thing has actually helped a lot
i'm out of facts for now if there's anything else you wanna know shoot me an ask and if this post does well I'll make another soon!

2nd out of 5 parts of an ask by @smokeprincess24
Mika Aldini
šŸ‘¹ How does you OC act around different people and how does their personality change to match the environment theyā€™re in? How do they act with: friends, family, strangers, children or their lover(s)?
Mika has some hesitance in exposing her soft, romantic side to others and is prone to deny it. She only lets people she truly trusts have insight into some of her rosy fantasies. Her mom is the one who sheā€™s most comfortable talking about such things.Ā
Other than that, thereā€™s not much of her behavior that differs depending on who sheā€™s talking about it.Ā
šŸ… How easily is your OC embarassed? What subjects make them flush and why? What event has made your OC the most embarassed theyā€™ve ever been?
Mika is VERY easily embarrassed. Wether itā€™s about her being too obvious about her crush on Hiraku and it being pointed out, or her fatherā€™s way too open display of his love and affection for his only childā€¦thereā€™s a lot that can make Mika flush.Ā
šŸ’„ Are there any emotions your OC doesnā€™t know how to deal with, doesnā€™t understand or hates having to feel? Any reason behind this?
Actual heartbreak is something sheā€™ll greatly struggle with. She has not quite suffered from one yet but has only seen it in works of fiction. Mika always knew in the back of her mind that its something that happens, however she wonā€™t be prepared for just how deeply it can hurt. Given that she always sort-off idolized romance and only ever looks at the pretty parts of it, itā€™s definitely something thatā€™ll make her feel very miserable.
Sheā€™s generally rather inexperienced with feeling plain vulnerable to begin with. Another emotion sheā€™ll struggle with (rather soon) is guilt.Ā
šŸ€ Does your OC have any skills that people wouldnā€™t expect them to have? Do they have a hobby or pass time that others would consider strange or weird? How did they learn this particular skill or pick up this hobby?
Mika knows both how to ski and snowboard! People know that sheā€™s rather sporty but the fact that she possesses these skills is a little surprising to some because many find it hard to picture the sun-loving, fiery Mika in snow to begin with ahdhd.Ā
Well, sheā€™s not an all too big fan of winter and when she does end up in a snowy area during the cold months she does believe that doing sport is just the best way to deal with it.Ā
ā Does your OC like to sleep alone or do they enjoy sharing their bed? Have they been to any sleepovers? Have they ever been camping? What did they think of the experiences if so?
Mika has not much experience sharing a bed yet. Itā€™s something she imagines as very comforting and lovely though and she wishes to experience it someday with someone she loves. Ā
šŸ When your OC says ā€œI had a bad dayā€ what does that tend to mean? Is it really as bad as theyā€™re saying or are they being a bit dramatic?
Mika, much like Chieko, has a leaning to be overdramatic at times. So a ā€žbad dayā€œ from Mika-understanding is most likely a string of some annoying and frustrating events, but something sheā€™ll most likely be over with the next day.Ā
šŸ‰ How religious is your OC? Do they pray to any god(s) or do they not believe in that kind of stuff? What is their view of religion in general? Where do they believe people go when they die? If your OC is not religious why not and what do they believe in otherwise?
Mika is Christian and sheā€™s registered in the Catholic Church, but later in life actually finds herself leaning more towards Protestantism.Ā
She does believe in God and visits Church to important occasions like Christmas, Easter and so on but she does not go there every Sunday.Ā
šŸ’§ What is something from your OCā€™s past theyā€™re the most ashamed of and why? What is something theyā€™re really proud of? And lastly what is something in their past that could make them shake with dread?
Sheā€™s mainly embarrassed by some of her more intensive outbursts over more trivial things but what sheā€™ll truly look back upon in shame will come later on.Ā
What sheā€™s so far the most proudest of is the time when she cooked for the Trattoria-Aldini-Branch in Rome and the practicum Takumi arranged her in Mizuharaā€™s ā€œRistorante Fā€ after her graduation from middle school, as preparation for her Stagiares.Ā
šŸŸ What was your OC like as a baby? What were they like as a child? A teenager? An adult? How do you think theyā€™ll develop ten years into their future? Twenty years? Will they live to old age?
Mika, as baby, was pretty loud and demanding. She began crawling relatively early and began crying and screaming the moment she wanted something. She certainly kept her parents of her feet.
Mika was a happy, adventure-loving child who certainly enjoyed to be outside a lot. She learned swimming at an early age and her love for dancing showed as soon as she could walk, honestly. She had always been a little feisty but to her family sheā€™d also expose a love for plushies and Disney princesses.
As a teen, sheā€™d become a confident and bold individual whoā€™s tired of being the sole young chef of Tuscany and out to find a worthy rival. Mika certainly lives for the thrill of the challenges of Totsuki and practically embraces the competitive atmosphere. At the same time, her love for Disney movies involving princesses has ultimately developed in a deep fascination with all things romance and a strong longing to experience it herself.
As an adult Mika will have grown in experience regarding romance and does see everything a little less through rosy lens. Sheā€™ll remain a strong individual in her adulthood, who knows what she wants and how to step up against anyone who decides to be an obstacle. Sheā€™ll be a little calmer though and have her temper under a bit better control.Ā
šŸ‡ Does your OC have any bad habits? Does your OC have any addictions like smoking or drinking? How did they fall into these habits and why?Ā
At times she does loose her temper a bit too quickly and itā€™s not always necessary to yell right away. She also tends to procrastinate when it comes to studying tings unrelated to cooking.
She drinks on parties and she does have a little tendency to party a lilā€™ harder than necessary sometimes.Ā
šŸ”®What does your OC think is their best trait. What is actually their best trait? What about their flaws? Are they one to admit these flaws or do they like to pretend theyā€™re perfect?
Mika thinks her best trait is her courage and Iā€™d agree with her on that!Ā
A major flaw of herā€™s is that she can be a little bit inattentive to the people around her at times. Sheā€™s very unaware of this though.Ā
šŸŒø Whatā€™s a sentence that would make your OCā€™s day better? One that would make them laugh? One that would make their day worse? Why? What words would you have to say to them to completely ruin their day?
ā€œYukihira Hiraku is about to have a Shokugeki!ā€ is a sentence that always puts her mood up. She loves watching Hirakuā€™s Shokugekis! She gets to see the person she admires in action and itā€™s also just a great experience overall as his matches are certainly thrilling, captivating and the rest of the audience is very into it as well.
A sentence that could ruin her day is anything that suggests something bad happened to Hiroshi. Sheā€™ll either end up pissed off at whoever might hurted him or worried for the rest of the day.Ā
šŸŒ· How much effort does your OC put into their looks? Do they care much about how theyā€™re dressed or what their hair looks like or are they not bothered? Could they be considered a snob or a slob?
She has a pretty well-developed fashion sense and does take her fine time choosing her outfits, no matter the occasion (unless itā€™s a school day because yā€™know then she knows what to put on: the uniform). She also takes good care of her skin, possesses some make-up skill and takes VERY LONG to shower. Itā€™s all things she honestly just picked up from her parents mostly.Ā
ā¤ļø What inspired you to make this OC? How long have you had them? How have they changed in the time youā€™ve been developing them?
Mika is one of the oldest Fanchilds of mine. Sheā€™s the fifth to ever be created, I think. She was created on that faithful night in 2016 where I decided to create more fankids after I had designed Chieko a few days or so earlier and took my drawing-tools to bed to sketch and color them ahdhd. Takumi/Ikumi is one of my first ships in the series as well and, back then, I didnā€™t saw much else option for either of them...so my decision to let them have a child was pretty automatic.
Mika did not change all too much over the years, really. What mostly got added recently is her frustrating love-triangle situation and also her story was just ironed out more over the years ahdhd but character-wise she remained more or less the same. Takumi and Ikumi honestly share a lot of the same character traits in the end and I think thatā€™s a reason for that.Ā
šŸ§” What traits of your own do you see in this OC? Are they a little bit self-inserty? Donā€™t be shy, we all put parts of ourselves into the creations we love!
Hm, I donā€™t think I have all too much in common with Mika. Sheā€™s very brave and challenge-enthusiastic and Iā€™m....one of the greatest cowards youā€™ll ever meet being frank.Ā
What we do share I guess is a strong love for the sea. Also, I do enjoy dancing (although I am not anywhere near the level she is) And I mean, she cooks Italian which is one of my favourite cuisines...but thereā€™s really not much she takes after me ahdhd. She has much more in common with my mom than me being real.Ā
šŸ’š Are you writing anything with this OC or planning on writing anything for them? Do you rp with them or are they just for fun to mess around with?
I have a few ideas but I donā€™t know if Iā€™ll get to it soon.
šŸ’— Ramble a bit about this character!
Mika, Mika, our beautiful helpless romantic Mika. Did I mention already how greatly her love-situation frustrates me? I really want her, the romance fanatic, to get happy with someone but ahhh who?? Sheā€™s also one of my first OCs and actually pretty dear to me and ahhh, WHY?!
But meep, aside from that and my whining about a situation I drove myself into; Mika is honestly really fun to write and I love the trio sheā€™ll have going on with Kimiko & Hiroshi. It mirrors the classic Sōma/Megumi/Takumi-Trio in certain ways but it wonā€™t be an exact rehash either so ahh. Iā€™ll just enjoy writing this I think.Ā

Hi! I dunno if this was already obvious, but I LOVED WHAT YOU DID FOR THE TRAINING CAMP SOOOO MUCH!! So I wanted to ask, what was your thought process for coming up with the challenges and characters who would feature in them, particularly the first and second ones? Love you :3
Tumblr media
ahhaaaahhhhhhhhHHHHHHH //lies down//
I- I am so glad you enjoyed it ;w; Especially since itā€™s your favorite arc in canon, it makes me happy to hear I did a well a job on it. Because I was a little unsure if I did do it justice haha ovo;;;
I donā€™t know if I can reconstruct the entirety of my thought-processces throughout writing the arc, but Iā€™ll try:
Regarding the alumni I chose: a lot of Shokugeki Fanfics that take place in the future and tackle a future Trainings Camp like to have the entirety of the 92nd Generation (+ even some of the senpais) show up at it. I donā€™t really want to let the canon characters enter all at once in SnKimiko but rather let them drop in one by one until a much later arc (2nd year) where the adults get a bit more relevance in general. Not a lot but a bit. I did end up going for Takumi and Ikumi, because Takumi was introduced in Trainings Camp and I thought that would be a nice throwback. The other alumni were also there mostly for throwback reasons, plus I wanted to introduce the admiration that Kimiko has for Kojiro Shinomiya actually meep (as well as that little Mini-Plottwist ahdh). Rui and Shigemichi got chosen rather spontaneously but I wanted someone from the 91st or 90th Generation there (because I thought it wouldnā€™t make sense if itā€™s constantly just the 92nd Generation that gets to do all the stuff)Ā but thought it was way too soon to get the former Elites there. Adding to that, I just like Rui quite a lot šŸ˜Œ. Lastly, thereā€™s Akari Miyano whoā€™s pretty much the Easter Egg within Trainings Camp. I donā€™t know if I got it across well enough but who she actually is, but well sheā€™s not a fanmade character by me but an actual canon character from Shokugeki. Sheā€™s a One-Off in Shokugeki though and not really a name that I think is present to anyone.Ā
I chose Rui as first examiner because sheā€™s a character I was always curious about and I wanted to attempt getting some more character into her. Additionally it presented me with a good opportunity to introduce her most precious son.Ā
Mika and Hiroshi got added to echo Takumiā€™s and Isamiā€™s introduction, but I wanted to handle things a tad bit differently considering that, different to their dads, the two were already formally introduced beforehand anyway. I wanted to make Kimikoā€™s and Mikaā€™s rivalry an aspect. But once again, Mika had already more time to sink in as character than Takumi did and she already loudly declared herself as Kimikoā€™s rival...usually with not much acknowledging from Kimiko. So in the end, I decided that the first day of Trainings Camp would be a great opportunity to have Kimiko truly realize Mikaā€™s capability of standing toe-to-toe with her. To not just have them face off against each other so early, I thought about the whole Itsuki-situation and how Kimiko first focuses on someone else.Ā
Regarding the challenge with the colors of ingredients, thatā€™s just something that came to me some morning if I remember correctly. I wanted to do something that does involve a sort-off limitation and giving the students a limit through the ingredients they can use was an idea. I then thought I should add one color that has a wide array of ingredients going for it making it the more easier choice, that being yellow (lemons, bananas, potatoes, corn ...etc.) and one color with not a lot of ingredients going for it making that one the more harder challenge to work with, that being blue. At the same time, mixing these two gives green which is another color with a wide array of ingredients (spinach, green apples, salad, pears etc.) This challenge is also supposed to showcase that both Kimiko and Mika have quite the creativity going for them while also putting them on even level, with Kimiko being able to craft a good dish out of the color that is the hardest challenge while Mika is the only one to come up with the idea to mix the two colors presented to her.Ā
When it comes to the 2nd challenge, that majorly started out with me wanting to introduce Kazuo. I wanted to get his introduction done in Trainings Camp because I wanted him being introduced before his sister Ran. Ran will actually get her introduction insanely soon and sheā€™ll also become pretty active rather soon as well. So yeah, I had to get Kazuo into Trainings Camp somehow. Somewhere along the lines, I got the idea of having him team up with Kimiko while also adding Takayuki to it. Takayuki was added for three reasons: simple reoccurrence as a character, heā€™s with Kazuo most of the time anyway, I thought it would be fun having him team up with Kimiko as well given that they last met as opponents. Another good factor that actually dawned to me a little bit later is that all three characters have older siblings in the Elite Ten and that fact often being pointed out to them by other students.Ā
Given Itsukiā€™s introduction on Day one already, I also thought this would be a nice opportunity to hint more onto a certain antagonist by also getting Emi into the spectacle, as a slight fun challenge on the side but also as a means to introduce theĀ ā€œMafiaā€.Ā
Akari Miyanoā€™s role in Trainings Camp was something I had already thought up ever since 2016 and I thought inserting her and the plan I had for her here would be perfect. Again, sheā€™s much of a little Easter Egg.
I donā€™t really remember anymore how I came up with the challenge that is presented to the trio, but I think it does have something to do with the topic of harmony in a sense. And harmony is what our trio struggles with at first, so I thought it would be a good challenge.Ā
Regarding how things played out in the end, that just mainly came to me in the flow while writing the thing actually: The main dish task falling onto Kazuo who has the most eccentric style of cooking out of the three and that being something that Kimiko is at first doubtful about, additionally making him cook Mikaā€™s dish (and Mika only cooked one thing yet which was a main dish) got me to introduce his heavy crush on her; Takayuki making too extravagant appetizers because he so badly wanted to the main dish; them being sabotaged by one of the Mafiaā€™s member but not by Akiko (despite the one hint that sheā€™d be the one to do so in the beginning); that finally leading to them working together; Takayukiā€™s first mistake of making too filling appetizers turning out well in the end while Kimikoā€™s everlasting creativity leads to her helping out Kazuo....that just all kind off came naturally to me while writing ;w;
When it comes to the Breakfast Challenge, I quickly decided I want Kaori to shine there. She already shone on the lines on Day 1, when she impressed Takumi, but I wanted her to shine in front of Kimiko, giving that the two will have a rivalry as well. In contrast to Kimikoā€™s and Mikaā€™s rivalry which is similar to Somaā€™s and Takumiā€™s in which both parties are basically equal in skill; Kimikoā€™s and Kaoriā€™s rivalry is much like Somaā€™s and Akiraā€™s in which one of the two legit outdos the other one at that point in time. I also figured that the Breakfast Challenge is just perfect for Kaori, as her main gimmick is to energize people which is something that people look for in a breakfast in the early morning and while she does not have her fatherā€™s sense of smell, she does still have a good understanding on the utilization of fragrance which therefore gives her a large advantage on drawing customers to her stand.Ā
Sorry for getting so rambly ;w; I hope it wasnā€™t all too much all over the place (it probably was) and that I worded things at least a little decently....meep.Ā
But thank you so much for the question and the interest. I am super glad you enjoyed Trainings Camp so much!
Love ya too Emi ;w; !!

Shokugekiweek 2017
Day 8 (Part 2): Original Characters / Role / Cooking SpecialtyĀ
A/N: A very quick little look into the Next Gen of Polar Star in the very beginning of the 115th Generation, long before Kimiko Yukihiraā€™s transfer into Totsuki and the start of the challenging highschool times.Ā
Warning! Contains some odd ships (or rather their childs)
I actually wanted to draw something, but my laptop is right in front of death, so I use it as little as possible and wrote this little one shot, because I will never shut up about my Shokugeki Next Gen.Ā
This entire shot is a kind off a little prequel to this fan fiction, which actually deals with the daughter of Erina and Soma, Kimiko Yukihira, who does not appear here. Itā€™s nothing fantastic, but itā€™s awfully lot of fun to write for me and if you have interest...welp, check it out I guess.
Enough with my rambling. Letā€™s go.Ā
Beginnings
"Done."
Megumi Aldini-Tadokoro backed off to admire her work and Hiroshi was not sure about it but it seemed that her warm, yellow eyes were near tears as she let them trail over him.
Isami Aldini-Tadokoro only smiled, but even more brightly than usual.
Here he stood, Hiroshi Aldini-Tadokoro. Dressed complete and properly into the naval blue uniform that the school sent home to him a few days earlier.
Which school, you may ask?
Totsuki, of course.
Unlike his friends in Tohoku, Hiroshi would not visit the local middle school here but attend a school in Tokyo instead. Totsuki Culinary Academy, the most famous and prestigious culinary school in Japan as he had heard way too many times now. His parents, as well as his uncle and aunt had graduated from there. Something not as usual as someone might think. Apparently the graduates can usually be counted off by hand, because of the school's extreme out weeding throughout the six years.
Except for one Generation, but no one even thought about this sort of brilliance in just one Generation to come back any day. So it wasn't ofĀ any bother.
"...You won't be sad with me, if I don't make it, right...?" Hiroshi had asked many times. His parents assured him that they were certain he could do it, but if he didn't felt like going to the school they wouldn't force him.
He decided he could give it a shot and enjoy it as long as it lasts.
So here he was now, ready to go. The entire village standing outside and ready to bring him to the train.
But before she would expose her son to the excited crowd, Megumi wanted to make use of the silence in the house one last time. "Hiroshi." She softly smiled. "Yes, Mom?" Hiroshi responded and locked his blue eyes with her's.
He felt his mother's hand going through his unkempt blue locks as she said. "Don't ever forget, that you have people you can talk to. Isami and Me. Your grandmother. Your friends here in Tohoku...You can even phone all the way to Italy and speak to uncle Takumi, aunt Ikumi or little Mika. And also-"
Her eyes trailed away from him. Not just away from him, it seemed, but also away from the current time. She was in memory of something. "...I am sure you'll find friends in Totsuki as well. And don't ever hesitate to ask them for help, if you feel in need for it and that they're the right persons."
Hiroshi gave an unsure nod.
"And remember to have fun." His father winked at him and gave him a quite proud look afterwards. "I am more than sure that you have the talents to reach the top spot of the academy."
---
The Farewell had been long, emotional but a beautiful memory that Hiroshi would always treasure in his heart during the long time he'd spent on Totsuki.
After the many tears, the thousands of hugs and the millions of encouraging words, Hiroshi was finally sitting in the train that would bring him to Japan's capital city.
And in what felt like no-time to him he was already standing in front of the huge gate of the even more huger school with widened eyes and unable to grasp each and every detail of the campus at once.
This school was truly something, he could tell by the look alone.
Around him masses of students entered. More than one of them was exiting a limousine and nearly everyone held a prideful expression. Hiroshi pressed his lips together and tightened his grip around his suitcase, as if it could protect him from anything. He wasn't even sure of what he needed to be protected off.
Slowly but surely he started to move and just follow the students in his age.
While walking he couldn't help himself but to ask this one question.
...What did I actually sign up for?
---
He did sign up for a school that didn't even bothered to spare it's students the lesson on day uno.
After a long, stretched entrance ceremony, held by one of the upperclassmen, Akio Hayama, Hiroshi, as well as his classmates, were already thrown into the many kitchens Totsuki had and had to attend their first cooking lesson.
Luckily, Hiroshi had managed to find a partner in all this chaos and a good one at that. The guy had looked as unsure and timid as himself, hectically turning his head after the teacher had stated that he wants the students to work in pairs.
He had brown hair and dull, black eyes. Daisuke Aoki was his name.
And right now, Hiroshi was walking outside with him as they finished their first day of school.
"And you're not nervous at all?!" Daisuke was exclaiming in bewilderedness. The two boys had just realised that they would both live in the same dormitory. The only one available on the campus, Polar Star.
"Should I?" Hiroshi turned to Daisuke, slightly worried about his companion's comment. "Well uhm..." Daisuke unsurely elaborated. "...Polar Star is one of the most popular places to live during Totsuki times. It has a long history and is very famous, since the Jewel Generation." "Jewel Generation was the 92nd, right?" Hiroshi wanted to make sure. Daisuke gave a quick nod.
That was the Generation that had ever managed to get more students through than can be count off by hand. A sensation, apparently.
Both of Hiroshi's parents had been part of it, as well as his uncle and aunt, and the teachers had gladly reminded him on that fact through the entire day.
"The entrance exam shall be really hard as well..." Daisuke's words brought Hiroshi back into reality. The boy truly was worried.
"Aoki." Hiroshi addressed him and he turned his head. He gave him an encouraging smile. "I am sure, you'll be fine. You were great help today as well."
Daisuke blushed a little and stammered. "Th...Thanks, I guess."
Before Hiroshi could change the topic to not have Daisuke worry so much anymore a loud yell made it's way to their ears, resulting in a turn around.
"Hey!"
There stood a boy, their age, with hair as black as the night and eyes as violet as lavander. He wore the school uniform without tie and opened jacket. His eyes were completely ignoring Hiroshi's presence and only narrowed at the sight of Daisuke. And as Hiroshi casted one look to his new friend, he noticed that he was returning the challenging gaze.
The boy walked up to them.
"Where have you been?" Were the first words he gave to them and Hiroshi was sure they were directed to Daisuke.
Daisuke who only intensified his challenging gaze. "Since when is that any of your business?"
The answer followed immediately. "Well, someone has to take care of you!" Afterwards a melancholic sigh, worthy of Shakespearean theatre. "And we both now that I am the more mature one of us here." Daisuke snickered, but the boy was not paying attention to it. "And my day had been rough enough, that I don't have the time to chase around some baby!"
Okay this was clearly heading into a direction that Hiroshi wasn't really fond of and so he timidly interjected. Or tried too. "Uhm...Excuse me?"
Both boys turned.
The black haired one pulled up an eyebrow, while Daisuke's face lightened up. "Who are you?" The unnamed one asked.
"Aldini-Tadokoro Hiroshi..." Hiroshi responded or rather murmured so that the boy had to lean forward a little to properly understand. "Gosh, you're as soft-spoken as him." He pointed to Daisuke.
Then his expression shifted into a rather haughty one and he proudly announced. "I am Kawashima Hideyoshi, by the way. Yes, son of the Kawashima Urara, as well as Kawashima Shoji."
"Nice to meet you." Hiroshi held out a hand, but Hideyoshi simply went past it and continued to head into the direction Daisuke and Hiroshi were intending too. Walking didn't stopped him from talking though. "In a few months, I am going to own the school, alright? This is nothing but a playground to me. First I gotta become the world's greatest host and then-"
"Sorry." Daisuke appeared next to Hiroshi, whispering. Hiroshi couldn't help but to flinch a little. "Huh ?" "He's always been like that." Daisuke explained and his expression turned a little grim afterwards. "I have the pleasure to be around him since I was born...but...." Now his face got at least a little softer. "He can be nice here and then...."
"Aha..."
Daisuke shrugged in apologise, but Hiroshi gave him an "It's okay"-head shake. He Ā would just believe Daisuke's comment about Hideyoshi's friendly side and decided to work for bringing that side out. His mother had said he would make friends here and he would try that for sure.
And so the three continued their journey to the school's sole dorm.
---
The school's sole dorm was full. Very full.
As soon as Daisuke, Hideyoshi and Hiroshi entered they were already greeted by a lousy crowd of students their age, who all intended to join the dorm. Most of their chats were about the dorm's legacy but some also complained about the rough day and how they couldn't wait to get into their beds.
Hiroshi gulped at that sight of many contenders. Behind him he heard a bicker emerge and noted that it was in fact between Hideyoshi and Daisuke. He also noted that is was about...jam.
Odd.
Just as he finished to build up all his courage to stop the childish discussion on which fruit tastes best on bread, the crowd suddenly went silent and soon afterwards, Hiroshi heard a jolly laughter which made him turn around.
A man with light brown hair, sparkling blue eyes and a pink apron was standing infront of the middle schoolers now. "No need to fall silent all of the sudden, I won't do any harm to you. May I rather introduce myself?" He didn't even waited for an answer. "Well, I am your dormmother Isshiki Satoshi or Satoshi-San to you and Welcome." His arms went wide and the exclaim that followed afterwards could probably be heard by the entirety of Tokyo. "To the Polar Star Dorm!"
Hiroshi flinched a little, while Daisuke and Hideyoshi had stopped their bicker and just gave the dormmother a flabbergasted look.
"I can just assure you that you picked the absolute right place to live in. Here is where you can fully embrace the beauty of youth, sharing your rice with others and celebrate till the morning with your newfound friends."
Hideyoshi blinked. "Youth?" "Dad had told me the dormmother could be quite weird time to time, but he's a very decent and cool guy." Daisuke noted.
"Well then." Satoshi clapped. "As much as I want to let you run off to your rooms immediately, I sadly can't do that. It's Polar Star's tradition to have the students intending to live here attend an entrance test. It's already noted on the sheets that were handed out to you by the staff earlier. So I hope that's not too much of a surprise to all of you. Well then, you cook me a dish with the ingredients that you brought and I'll judge if it's worthy for these walls." He tipped his chin. "And to have space in the kitchen, I'll only take a little group at the time...let me see..."
His eyes started to scan the crowd of anticipated children in front of him. And then he suddenly pointed somewhere into the crowd and exclaimed. "You two please."
Whoever he had chosen were too far away for Hiroshi to see. But he guessed that they started moving. Satoshi was only proceeding his inspection as he suddenly looked into Hiroshi's direction.
His finger lifted and Hiroshi felt it pointing at him. "You two as well."
Two? ...Oh of course.
Hiroshi turned around to see Hideyoshi and Daisuke simultaneously pointing at themselves, silently asking for a confirmation. Satoshi gave it to them through a nod and so the two started moving.
Hiroshi had just waved to Daisuke as Satoshi spoke up again. "And you too."
Hiroshi let his gaze go back to the dormmother and saw that he was pointing at him. "Yes, you with the blue hair." Satoshi made it even clearer.
Slowly Hiroshi nodded and picked up his bag with ingredients. The crowd parted or him and he quickly walked forward, to escape the many eyes burning for him. He then arrived in the front, next to Daisuke.
Satoshi clapped his hands together a second time. "That's it for now. Please wait here in the main hall, I'll come back as soon as these five are finished."
He swiftly turned around and walked away. Hiroshi exchanged one quick look with Daisuke and Hideyoshi and then they started to follow him.
---
Polar Star's kitchen was huge and heavily equipped, so that Hiroshi couldn't help but gasp. Next to him Hideyoshi wore an excited expression, while Daisuke fumbled with his fingers...and next to them...
Hiroshi now finally got a chance to look at the other pair that was chosen alongside him and Daisuke and Hideyoshi.
A boy stood there, with crossed arms. Next to him was a petite girl, who was holding a book. The boy's auburn hair was silky and quite long. He bonded them together in a ponytail. Most notable was the fact that his bangs casted a shadow on his face and perfectly hid his eyes. The girl next to him had black hair which she wore in a bun. But some of the hair had loosened from it, as Hiroshi noted. The most dominant feature though were the circular glasses, sitting on the girls nose and hiding her shining, teal eyes behind them.
Before Hiroshi could give the pair a friendly greet, he already heard Satoshi speaking up again. "Well then, here are your aprons. You don't want to get your uniforms dirty, don't you?"
In his hands were a bunch of little aprons that had the same colour as his. He handed each of them one and looked at them happily afterwards.
Hiroshi didn't even hesitated to look at the print on the apron and had already bonded it around his waist.
"Before you start cooking..." Satoshi said. "...I'd like to know your names. And I don't know how you feel about it, but I'd say ladies first."
With that said, everyone immediately turned to the only girl in the room who looked up surprised. Satoshi gave her an encouraging nod.
"Oh well, uhm...." She started and took off her glasses to start cleaning them and have an excuse to look down. "My name is Marui Chieko."
It may was an illusion to Hiroshi but it felt as if Satoshi's ever-lasting smile grew a little after Chieko had said her surname. The dormmother turned to the boy beside Chieko. "And you?" "I am Ibusaki Yasu." He stated stoically.
Next up was Hideyoshi. His introduction was a little longer than the ones before him and accompanied by poses and wide arm gestures.
Daisuke kept it a little shorter again.
"And lastly..." Hiroshi now felt Satsohi's gaze wandering to him and knew what he had to do. He took a step forward and turned to his soon-to-be dormmates. "Good day, everyone. I...I am Aldini-Tadokoro Hiroshi." He quickly bowed. "It's a pleasure to meet you all."
As he looked up again, he was greeted by silence from the audience. Except for one thing. Sniffing.
One quick turn revealed it to come from Satoshi who rubbed a tear out of his eyes. "E...Everything okay, Satoshi-San?" Hiroshi stuttered hastily.
Satoshi nodded. "Yes... Yes it is... I am just so happy right now and...." New tears streamed out of his face. "I wish you the best of luck for this exam!"
---
The vision of a calming fountain faded slowly and Satoshi took a deep breath.
"Hiroshi-Kun, you passed."
Relief and amazement filled with Hiroshi's body and he blinked bewildered.
He...passed?
"An excellent interpretation of Maki Sushi." Satoshi praised before looking to the other candidates with a sad look. "I am sorry for you four that it didn't worked out today. But..I am more than certain that tomorrow will hold more fortune for you."
"So we can try again?" Daisuke immediately beamed. He was standing next to a crushed Hideyoshi. Yasu had turned his back to the others and has not talked to anyone since, not even to his companion Chieko who was sadly eyeing the floor.
"Of course you can! I beg you to, to be exact. You can sleep in the barn nearby for this night and come back tomorrow."
For the first time since Yasu heard the news that he didn't passed, he was turning his head half-way. Chieko looked up as well and Hideyoshi's spirits seemed to have returned within a second as he jumped up, balled a fist and cajoled. "Alright then! Be ready tomorrow, Satoshi-San!"
The other three bid goodbye as well and so the quartet left the kitchen.
Satoshi turned to Hiroshi and placed an old-looking, metal key into his hand. "Congratulations, Hiroshi-Kun. Room 304. Good work today." His smile grew a little. "Your parents can be proud."
Hiroshi inspected the key a little before looking up. "Uhm...uh...Satoshi-San?" "Hm?" "Won't the others be cold tonight?"
Satoshi scratched his head. "No. The barn may not be a room, but it's comfortable none or less and don't worry, I am more than certain it's not for very long."
---
And Satoshi was right.
Chieko and Yasu passed the entrance test on the very next day. A stuffed duck and a smoked salmon handled the deal. Chieko was in awe that she has gotten one of the bigger rooms, in form of room 205. Satoshi said that it was for all the books that the girl had brought with her. Yasu took the key for room 212 without saying any word. He did looked relieved though, Hiroshi thinks.
Daisuke and Hideyoshi took a little longer but at some point they heard the "You passed" from Satoshi as well. Hideyoshi got room 216 and Daisuke room 109.
Others tried and tried as well, but each day it became lesser and lesser. Till at some point, no one wanted to face Satoshi's judging anymore.
And at that day the 115th Generation part of Polar Star had been formed out of four guys and one girl. And Satoshi gave a little mini-banquet just for the five of them in he dining room.
"Congratulations." He lifted a glass. "I am very proud of you five. You never gave up, didn't lost your hope and now you're here. I can't wait to go through these six years with you. Cheers!"
"Cheers!"
Hiroshi smiled to his dormmates, who began eating.
He was glad that they all made it, since it had be really sad for him to see them all so miserable on the first day. And maybe, just maybe, this little group would become the friends that Hiroshi's mother was talking about.
But it didn't took Daisuke and Hideyoshi long before they started bickering again. This time about which pizza topping is the best. The discussion got awfully heated as Hideyoshi mentioned pineapples.
Yasu and Chieko remained as silent and closeted as always and only exchanged whispers between each other here and then.
Hiroshi's smile faded a little bit. Two knuckleheads and two introverts. Not to mention, both pairs were made up of childhood friends with a pre-established bond. If he wanted to befriend them, it would not be a very easy journey.
He let out a little sigh. As he remembered Satoshi praising them for never giving up.
He would just have to try. He didn't even truly did until now.
"Marui-San?" He therefore addressed the sole girl, who stopped a whisper-conversation with Yasu and expectingly turned her head to him.
"What was that technique called again you used for your dish at the entrance test?"
Chieko blinked a little taken aback by that sudden question. She then pushed up her glasses and started to elaborate. First she did it a little unsurely and flat, but the more Hiroshi nodded, asked questions or just watched her with interested blue eyes, the more safely she spoke and the more eager her speech went.
Satoshi was watching this with a knowing smile, shook his head and went to the kitchen to cook up more food.
And that's how it started.
Hiroshi's first year on Totsuki.
It was the starting gun for a long journey that would hold many challenges, surprises and other things to each member in the Polar Star Dorm.
The first change already started in their second year of middle school, where Hiroshi's cousin Mika Aldini transferred into the school and joined the dorm as well. Her fiery attitude brought some freshness into the dorm indeed and she was quickly the centre of attention within the 115th Generation. Next to the headmistressā€™ two daughters and Kaori Hayama, of course.
But everything truly became one whirlwind with the start to highschool, which would cast the true challenges on the young chefs.
Alongside this change came a honey-blonde diner girl, with golden eyes and a bright smile, going by the name of Kimiko Yukihira. A girl that would turn Hiroshi's world upside-down quickly.
But all of this would take it's time and for now he was just happily chatting in the dormitory's dining hall, not knowing at all what ride he actually signed up to.
