working as a blacksmith and having a good time with it honestly. sure, it's less high tech than what she's used to back home but asami loves to learn new crafts and get used to new environments. actively involved in guild life and she's probably poking around with magic and monsters more than she should as well. starters (1/4): ben skywalker

honestly he's got no magic but would sign himself up to be a wizard's apprentice so fast. like that seems cool of course that's what he's doing. he likes adding ingredients to potions and chilling. absolutely will approach magical monsters even if he shouldn't starters (1/4): klaus hargreeves

she's happier now than she had been in modern washington. this is way more interesting to clara. she's working as a tutor but is absolutely getting too involved in nobility politics, and could get caught up trying to overthrow someone. also very interesting in the magical creatures all over the place starters (0/4):

a farmer who lives on the outskirts of town. she's really good with animals, and is probably one mistake away from being accused of witchcraft for one reason or another. she's not doing any witchcraft, but it probably way too comfortable talking to people who are. starters (1/4): rosamund du prix

knows things changed suddenly, but has realized this is a great way to start scamming people. anything she can remember about the modern world she's selling as information, and they're also just kind of pretending to be a witch because she's got enough magic to get away with it, and when they ask for something she can't do, they're just putting drugs in potions. starters (0/4):

she's working as an inkeeper but she's very upset to be back in the past. she already lived through this era! been there done that! where's her phone? her dramas? she will absolutely be complaining about this to anyone who will listen even if they think she's mad starters (0/4):

nobility. probably a whole king and very stressed and unhappy about it. made a ruler very young and has no idea what he's doing. he can't catch a break even when he's not home okay. starters (2/4): wei wuxian, jin guangyao

he's going to become fully aware after the event. right now he's still unaware of his real life but he's aware of his life in modern washington and knows this is not right. probably accidentally became a local prophet because of how he's just starting to Know things now, but he's mostly running around trying to figure out what the fuck is going on starters (0/4):

he's aware things are different but honestly he likes this better so he's kind of keeping his mouth shut i'm afraid. he's thriving as an astrologer/tutor/priest for the rich, and kind of hopes things will stay like this. don't mention how things were different he will gaslight you starters (0/4):

he's a priest, does exorcisms and everything. obviously he still has his powers and knows who his dad is, but he just uses that to genuinely be able to help with ghosts and gain trust with people. he's living surprisingly comfortably here. starters (2/4): bianca di angelo, satana hellstrom

nie huaisang : aware things have changed

he knows things have changed but he's not really making that clear to anyone. sure, he'll talk in fantasy about a modern washington, but there's no need to stress everyone out by making them think he's more than just an airhead. he's a lower noble who spends his time chilling and painting. he's very interested in the mythical creatures and will try and adopt a baby dragon starters (1/4): nie mingjue

apprentice under shen qingqiu and learning about european swords and clothing. the problem with her being more confident and a little bit better at fighting in a world where duels and jousting are possibilities is she keeps considering it. girl is mostly living as a scholar but is ready to brawl do don't encourage her. starters (1/4): sha hualing

she's obsessed with the human concept of knights so this is great for her. she is of course serving as a knight, and though i'm sure she's under a specific kingdom but i would love to plot someone who she's specifically guarding. she's very protective and will be willing to throw herself in front of danger without hesitation pls employ. starters (1/4): sella palpetine

roronoa zoro : unaware any change has occurred

working as a bounty hunter/sword for hire again for both humans and mosnters, whatever gets him a paycheck. he'll work for whoever, but he's less inclined to work for people of power, he just doesn't really get along with them that well, and he's mostly looking to fight more than get a massive paycheck. starters (2/4): sanji, sgaeyl

advisor to some sort of noble! overworked and a schemer, so if anyone's plotting against nobles he is a good person to go to. he's happy to do a lot of underhanded shit to get rid of people. give me a noble for him to work under. starters (1/4): kaul shae

honestly living a chill life as a barmaid/occasional beggar when funds are low. qingxuan is actually really comfortable and having a fun time with the common people in this form of washington, so it'll be a nice time for them. a good friend to have if you want cheap drinks starters (1/4): syala eren

technically somehow got herself stuck as a noble lady, and i think it would be funny for someone to plot being the poor knight/guard looking after her because i know toph is quite literally always running away from them and trying to get into fights or start trouble starters (4/4): katara, mai, jamie, zuko

he's a gravedigger lmao, and not obsessed with it for obvious reasons. catch him sulking around in graveyards on the regular. he's staying away from most of the new mythical creatures and is trying to convince the people he knows to stay away from the dragons as well. starters (1/4): astrid hofferson

PLL: OS (Summer School) Finale Live Notes.

*Spoilers for the entirety of PLL Summer School

Okay friends, we've come to end of the season! I took notes throughout the episode, so here they are, plus some post-episode thoughts.

I knew Kelly wouldn't be dead! Faran had no reason to arrive so quickly if she wasn't going to be able to save her.

Okay, not important, but Kelly's hair always looks so good when they let it be wavy, I hope she'll get that style more in season 3 (assuming there is one), which would also set her apart from Karen.

Y'all, istg if the Ravenswood namedrop means they're taking an actual supernatural angle with this, I will be the one rioting.

"They just kinda showed up outta nowhere. I mean, doesn't that Christian guy make horror masks?" hkhjsdhfjk Heartbreaking: The Worst Person You Know Just Made A Great Point. Jk, jk, I promise I do not actually hate Jen or think she's the worst person in the show, I just really hate the love triangle trope and the way this storyline has been handled and this made me laugh, and while this feels like a big deflection, yet again (like... as did you?), she seriously does have a point, someone SHOULD be bringing up the masks.

I actually love the bickering when people start accusing each other’s SOs. I do like that the girls are supportive of each other, but they need conflict, too. Also interesting to see what comes out when people are getting defensive.

Aaaaand there's another Scream reference. Tabby: Safety in numbers! but then Tabby, approximately 2 seconds later: Let's go individually investigate our suspicious love interests and then regroup! TABBY YOU ARE A HORROR NERD, YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER!

If Johnny is not involved, he really is the CHILLEST dude on the planet.

Confirmation that the Bloody Rose murders were filmed! That's so validating. At this point in the episode, I'm leaning towards Wes and not Christian in this aspect. They're (the girls) too worried about Johnny and Christian, which wouldn't make either of them a major twist, and they have been literally 0% worried about Wes (which I still maintain makes absolutely no sense, considering what Tabby and Christian found at his place. & the main reason he ever dropped ever so slightly on my suspect list [he was still very, very up there] was how ridiculously HUGE of a red flag that should have been that it felt like it could be a set up, but then Tabby didn't get suspicious [which was also my biggest red flag with Christian, but now she is suspicious of him] so...)

I thought it would be a stabbing and not her smashing him on the head (I also thought it might be a nightmare), but I WAS right about my “rule of threes” and my prediction that Johnny was going to fail to talk down Imogen, after successfully doing so twice before.

I'm not convinced he's actually an antagonist because if he were, why the fuck would he hide bodies at the place he works, like that is a ridiculously bad move, but also if this kills him & he’s not bad, that’s gonna be so fucked & also Imogen could definitely go to jail. So. Idk what to believe yet.

Y’ALL, I swear to god these are my as I am watching notes & I absolutely did not realize how hilarious me calling Johnny “the CHILLEST dude on the planet,” was going to end up being. I know this scene is serious, but I just lost it, knowing how it related to my notes.

Okay, on a more serious note. Survivability is not looking great for Johnny. Also, Imogen, word of advice- when you find bodies in the freezer, LEAVE and call the police, don’t go confront the guy you believe murdered them!!!

Okay, pause. Tabby just fell down the stairs at Christian’s (knew that was coming, obviously) after finding a Davie mask (not surprised), but since we have half an hour left in the episode, I’m guessing this means that the frame job I thought was happening IS happening and it’s happening to Christian (Wes hired Christian specifically to frame him?) and Johnny, meaning Wes is likely the mastermind. Also, this makes me VERY suspicious of Jen. She pushed the girls towards Johnny and Christian and now there’s the perfect evidence to turn Imogen and Tabby against them?

Right. So I did not have on my bingo card that Rose Waters would actually get her face carved off, that was honestly more brutal than I was expecting.

The body on the altar is Pastor Malachi, which I’m a little disappointed about (in myself), but I did say he was the only one of the other victims that I could make any argument for being there, but I really thought it was going to be somebody important to Rose.

Okay, WELL, yes on Mrs. Langsberry and yes on Wes, but I did NOT expect him to take that mask off during the livestream. I really thought he was going to try to pin everything on someone else. I also don’t believe for a second he intends to let Tabby live, no matter what she says (though I do believe he would let her “seem” to live for the sake of the film, then kill her after).

Did Christian not just say they should go to the screening room because there are no doors? But then immediately direct them out of some exit doors? I think this is just silly writing & not actually nefarious, but rofl.

“Mickey is a sick fuck who wants to get caught!" It really is Scream 2! It really is! Except Tabby didn't have a "wavering because I'm not sure if I can trust my boyfriend and maybe I shouldn't untie him," equivalent moment, really.

I know they all did self defense, but that last guy Tabby took out looked like a video game takedown, lol. I would have probably believed it more with Faran, but I get it.

Well, at least Faran got to punch Bloody Rose.

I AM SO MAD AT MYSELF. Tabby and Christian have that whole convo about their favorite horror movie deaths and she brings up the pitchfork, and at the time I even thought, “I wonder if someone is gonna get stabbed with a pitchfork,” and then I chose not to bother to type that up and I cannot believe I did not type that up! Of all the useless crap I typed up and that's the thing I didn't bother to ever post about? I'm disappointed in myself.

Y’all, maybe one of you should stay with Tabby, like maybe you don’t need 4 of you to go into the cabin to check the Wes situation.

I do love the “they always come back” Scream reference with Wes’s death here.

Okay, but... why did he kidnap Dr. Sullivan? And why was Pastor Malachi on the altar? And we're not gonna talk about the tests? Like I get they were for the movie, but we're just not even gonna mention them? Because if Wes is using that footage for his film, then isn't it kind of a problem that they all survived because that very much does not make Tabby the typical sole final girl.

Uuuuummmm…. Like assuming we’ve had all the important reveals and not considering what they might write next season, Imogen really fucked up the Johnny situation, turns out that really was the chillest dude on the planet.

Whoa. Wait. After all that, we’re just getting it thrown at us that Dr. Sullivan is actually a total asshole?? It's wild that she was actually risking her license just to write a book and she hates all of them.

I mean, Archie not actually being dead is the least surprising thing ever. Obviously he was not actually dead.

So.... are the girls wearing the girls masks supposed to be the movie Tabby is imagining? Or are we actually supposed to be concerned about this?

Wow, okay, lots to digest.

Immediate Post-Finale Thoughts

I'm so tired and I stayed up super late to watch this, so I will probably do a "now I've had some time to think about it," post finale post later, but this will have to do for now.

Overall, I thought this was a fun finale! Personally I like this reveal much better than the Principal Clanton one.

However, there are so many loose threads, unresolved storylines, and randomly missing characters, so I'm gonna go over a few of those.

Ash just basically stopped existing. They say his name a couple of times, but him just not being in the finale at all felt weird.

Same goes for Greg, who I normally wouldn't miss, except they had all the Faran/Greg stuff last episode. I'm not sure why they cut most of that, but then left what they did in 2x07. It feels like maybe they felt they had to keep some of it because they wanted to show Faran missing Kelly's phone call, but they couldn't explain why Faran and Greg were out together if they didn't have their hookup earlier in the episode, but... I think it would have been cleaner to just cut all of that and just show Faran seeing the missed call without any explanation of why she missed it. I don't know. I think this was a pretty messy way to handle it.

-longest sigh in the world- you're telling me that the Shawn/Noa/Jen love triangle literally had absolutely nothing to do with anything and we spent that much time on it????? This kills me. I gave the writers too much of the benefit of the doubt on this one. I really, really thought they wouldn't do all of that and literally not have any of it matter. Is this really what they wrote? This isn't the edit? Blegh. This was such a waste of time of a plot point. Why did they bother to have Shawn in this plot line at all? You're telling me not only did I sit through 2 of my least favorite tropes (love triangle and infidelity) and you could have just written Shawn out between seasons and had the conflict be that Noa is enamored with Jen, but one (or more) of the girls don't trust her because she showed up out of nowhere (like she accuses Christian and Johnny of doing) and keeps lying about things? But instead they did this? And for what? So Noa can call someone to hot wire a car? Because we didn't even get any drama out of it (aside from Noa smashing Shawn's car and the little bit of bickering in this episode) because the girls were immediately supportive and Shawn's reaction was relegated to some angry weightlifting. What the fuck? This was a huge miss, imo.

So... It seems like a lot of Imogen's stuff was only there to set up her attacking Johnny. Like the whole babysitting Estelle sequence never comes back around (but this is the first time Johnny sees her panicking with a knife), and the stuff with her dad and Rebecca didn't matter, except for the fact that Johnny also talks her down when she has a knife. Hm.

So? How long were those bodies in the freezer and what was the point of putting them there if Wes wanted to get caught anyway? Because surely Johnny would notice if they'd been there a long time, but also they weren't trying to frame him (poor dude got hit on the head with a wrench by his girlfriend and then locked in a freezer with 3 dead bodies), so?

I wish we'd gotten a little more explanation of Wes's plan. I still don't really get why he kidnapped Dr. Sullivan and tied her up in the shack. Where was that going?

Am I just super sleep deprived, or did all this just not have any connection to the Waters family lore, aside from Wes killing Rose (I think she's dead) and appropriating the Waters family story for the film? Also, how does his reveal work, since he's just suddenly not in character? Like what the hell is Wes's film?

Who/what did the snake in Imogen's poster represent? WAS it Dr. Sullivan and Wes knew about the book? I can't think of why it would be there, otherwise. This stuff feels quite messy to me.

I have a hard time believing Mrs. Beasley is just not going to be an abusive piece of crap any longer, but it's nice to see Kelly with the other girls.

How did SpookySpaghetti get all the girl's new phone numbers? That was not made clear.

Do we think there was someone else we know who was involved (I mean that they've actually planned for, not that they will retcon in later) that didn't get caught?

So the three figures in the poster are Wes as Archie, Mrs. Langsberry as Rose, and Chip? as the skeleton? I assume?

I do feel pleased that I called the combo of "someone making a movie and a mother avenging her dead child," but I'm a little disappointed a love interest didn't get revealed as evil, and also I thought the "mother" would be a bit more unhinged than Mrs. Langsberry ended up being. Like obviously she is committing a bunch of murders at Wes' direction, so not a shining example of rational thinking, and she's in denial about Chip, but I thought the "mother" was going to be fully delusional, tbh.

Am I still a little sad that they didn't find a way to shoehorn in a musical moment for Antonio? Yeah, a little, but he's alive so there's always possibly next season. (To be clear, I do not want them to do a musical episode, like please no, I just was hoping they do karaoke at some point this season or something, though I had no expectation of that fitting into the finale).

Hey natewantstobattle fandom, I think there's something we need to talk about with the new v1r@l music video

It is highly likely (honestly it obviously is) that the art found in the video is AI generated. Now, this isn't me accusing nate of anything, as there's a possible chance that he is simply not aware of it being AI art. He's an artist himself (albeit a musical one), I doubt he would be in support of such theft, and he was smart enough to call out the whole NFT scandal as well.

When I first watched it it had stuck out to me that the anime artstyle found in the video seemed out lf the ordinary, but I brushed it aside automatically. I went to go see who created the art, and noticeably the only thing they had linked to was a video producer

I normally don't question give hearts when it comes to crediting, so I assumed that the person who made the video must ALSO be the one to make the art. But from observation, that must not be the case

This is not a company who has workers of different skill sets, which one could possibly be digital painting. This is one person, from the looks of it, who uses AI generated artwork. Looking at their website, there's a section exclusively for digital art. While these certainly do fit the common AI generated artstyle, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was, they don't have any inconsistencies and errors that AI art may hold, so no proof there. BUT there are certainly errors found in the music video itself that no one other than an AI 'artist' would make. My apologies if I don't point out all of them

0:38 - The boy's head resting on a vaguely shaped, stubby, backwards hand. It was no distinct structure to it, the fingers look half cut off, and no one in their right mind would twist their arm and hand like that to rest on it

1:08 - Nitpicky but this guy has the WEIRDEST hair texture I've ever seen. The parts in the light do not match the shaded parts of the hair. They're like...odd blotches of fire

2:38 - There's this out of place hood-headphone cord. It looks like it comes out of and goes to nowhere behind the old man, and attempts to be a headphone wire and a hood strap at the same time

2:57 - It may not be obvious at first but the girl's sleeve is not correctly attached to or shaded in with the rest of her shirt. Like. Just look at it

(Note: A person has said that there's one scene in which a character has five and a half fingers, but I haven't been able to spot it yet

The video also noticeably tries to hide the hands A LOT, whether that be blurring or cutting it out entirely. Considering the mistakes we've already found with the hands, and AI art commonly not being able to get hands to look right, it's very possible it was purposeful)

Now, more about what I said in the beginning about Nate possibly not knowing:

Another thing to point out is that give heart has worked with this producer before. But the past videos that were made by them don't seem to involve any AI art at all

Nate's cover for "The Day." The art found in it is from the manga/anime My Hero Academia, created by Kohei Horikoshi. This is art that obviously can't be stolen and taken as one's own

"A Taste of the Flame," Hazbin Hotel song by Shawn Christmas. This time, there is an actual person behind the art in the video and rightfully credited in the description

A normally trustworthy video producer, who is not even open about admitting that they use AI art (not stated anywhere on the business site). So, this is my good faith assumption that Nate is not aware of this. He has a team of people for his videos, and considering is personality, it's very likely of him to overlook what this mv consists of. I don't know him personally, obviously, but considering how he presents himself in his content, past opinions, and the definitely normal behavior of wanting to believe in the best of someone you're a fan of, I don't think he would support the use of AI art. He's an artist who also doesn't like his work being stolen, and I can imagine if there was (and oh dear god if there already is) an AI that generates music scrapped from him and other musicians, he would not be happy.

There are other possibilities if he DOES know it's AI. One being that he doesn't know that AI art steals art from other artists, and the second being an AI that takes from fully consenting artists. I 100% doubt both of these

If he truly does not know, I will be pretty relieved. But I will still hold him accountable for negligence on his part. It's his channel and content, and even if he overlooks some of the stuff in it, he still has full control of what gets posted there and is responsible for it. I won't be as upset, but he should've known better to not let this fly and investigated more on this VERY overtly suspicious artwork

Okay, now getting to the main point and what you should take away from this; we need to be letting Nate know what's up with this, bring it to his attention or at least ask him of what AI art is doing in this video (whether he supports it or not). Because it's important for us to know, AND if this truly was done without his support/consent, he NEEDS to be aware so he can fix it. I'd rather have no mv for v1r@l rather than one that promotes art theft

TL;DR: NateWantsToBattle's new music video for "V1r@l" consists of AI generated art theft, we don't know whether he consented to this decision or not, and as a community should let him know

re the allegations: honestly kind of disgusted. i'm not a moralist and i think consenting adults can do what they want. but i feel that if anyone is even mildly critical of a whole system put in place to get young women extremely drunk to the point they can't remember what happened to them they get accused of treating women like children who can't make up their own minds - which is really, really disingenuous actually! i am fine with women wanting to sleep with rock stars, and i feel that shelby lynn's accusations don't hold much water, to say the least. but i feel that pointing out there is a power imbalance between till and some random 20-yr-old who's been deliberately gotten drunk out of her mind isn't being paternalistic, and i would have zero issues if till had just stuck to fucking groupies who knew exactly what they came here for, instead of grabbing random women off instagram who may genuinely not have been completely aware of things, or who may not have been up for the kind of sex that till reportedly likes to have (violent and forceful). so i'm finding it very hard to support the band atm, and to be honest the way fans talk about the women involved (calling them 'fuck-meat' and other names) just feels to me like they're revealing a deeper seam of misogyny in the fanbase - i don't care if the women did or didn't come to fuck till, referring to another human being like that is just unacceptable in my book.

That's completely understandable. I don't think these women should be called names or anything like that. The system of Row 0 is... I honestly don't know how to feel about it. As I've mentioned before, I'm choosing to stay neutral about the situation

Aroace Hunter week day 4! A day late! Because life decided I should have 0 free time yesterday and I wanted to write this.

Hunter stood in front of the Clawthrone estate door. He shifted from leg to leg, debating if he should knock.

On one hand, this was the easiest place to find help in his research. There weren't many books on grimwalkers, at least ones that weren't fables, and Luz had said Eda and Lilith had had an interest in myths and legends.

On the other hand, it involved Lilith, and he wasn't sure what he thought of that yet. This wasn't the Emperor's coven, but they hadn't talked since then either. It could get messy.

He sighed, deciding to trust Luz's judgment and knocked.

"Coming!"

Lilith opened the door, her expression souring when she saw him.

"Hunter. Dad isn't here, you should come by later."

Off to a great start. Hunter thought.

"Actually, I need your help with something. I'm researching grimwalkers, Luz said you could-you would help."

"I- well- if Luz said so," she huffed, "but grimwalkers? Why in Titan's name would you research those?"

"No reason-" She gasped, stopping him from finishing.

"Are you trying to bring Belos back?!" she summoned her staff, pointing it at Hunter's chest.

Hunter backed up. "No?! Why is that your first idea?! I hate him!"

Lilith squinted at him. They stood like that for a moment, ready for a fight. Lilith lowered her staff first, and let out a sigh.

"Maybe that was uncalled for."

"You think?"

Hunter glared at her. She glared right back, but didn't argue further.

"Grimwalkers, you said? I think I have some books that may help."

She stepped deeper into the house, holding the door open for Hunter. He hesitantly walked in.

"You can sit down while I get them." she pointed to the couch. Hunter walked over and took a seat, hardly relaxing.

A minute in and she's accusing me of wanting Belos back. Wonderful.

He heard rummaging upstairs, and ocassional cursing. Soon, she came back down, a small stack of books in her hands.

"Those are all about grimwalkers?" He sat up, momentarily forgetting their previous talk.

"Unfortunately, no, but I believe they could contain some information. Here, you can start from these ones." She divided the stack into two, and sat down across from him. Silence filled the room, broken only by the sound of turning pages and occasional muttering. There wasn't much information in the books on Hunter's end. Most were legends and fables, ocassionally a theory or two. Nothing he didn't know already.

"What are you looking for, exactly?" Lilith asked. Hunter snapped his eyes up. He had forgotten she was there.

"Anything, really. How they're made, I guess?"

She squinted at him again.

"I'm not bringing Belos back." he snapped.

"I doubt you could if you wanted to." she leaned forward, "Most of these are incredibly difficult to find, or impossible."

"You found it?"

Lilith nodded, and turned to book to Hunter.

She started listing the ingredients as he read.

"Palistorm wood,"

Guess that's how you saved me, Flap.

"Selkidomus scales,"

That's why I was sent to hunt them.

"Stonesleeper lungs,"

Hunter took a deep breath.

"A galderstone, for a heart,"

He touched his chest.

"And a bone of the orter species. Half of these are nigh impossible to get."

Hunter nodded, keeping his breath even.

Most of the books he'd read mentioned an ingridient or two, usually to highlight how horrible making a grimwalker was. This one had a full list, and it aligned with what he had found in the few scholarly books there were.

The writer was more sure of it than the others, writing it down as if it were a fact. He reached out to take the book, and Lilith let him. She sat down by him, both focused on the reading. There was more, instructions on what to do with the ingredients, and the differences a grimwalker may have. It mentioned the magenta eyes. That's the one thing all the stories had in common.

"Where did you find this?" He asked.

"I believe it came from the castle, or what was left of it. I forgot I had it, I thought it was a lost history book."

Of course that's where it was found. Belos must have used it to make all the golden guards. Hunter too. He scrunched his nose at the thought.

Lilith closed the book and got up to put it back on the pile. There was more Hunter wanted to read, but he wasn't sure he was ready to go through it right away.

"Did you get what you wanted?" she asked.

"Yes."

The room went silent again. Hunter leaned into the couch, thinking about what he had learned, or more confirmed, really. With the same book Belos presumably used.

Lilith watched him as he was lost in thought, going through a realization of her own.

"Hunter?"

"Mm?"

"I'm sorry for accusing you of wanting to bring Belos back. I hadn't thought about...what he could have been like to you, I heard some of what happened in the human realm but," she sighed, "I was too stuck on how it was in the coven. He must have treated you as bad as the rest of us even then."

Hunter blinked at her. He had thought about how the visit may go, and this was nowhere near it. The fight when he first arrived was more what he expected.

"And I'm sorry how I treated you in the coven." she blurted out.

"Uh, I- thank you? It's the past now, anyway."

She nodded, looking away and they were silent once again. Hunter spoke up first.

"I'll head out now, thank you for the help."

"Oh, of course! Take the book with you."

"Are you sure?"

"Consider it part of the apology."

Hunter nodded and took the book, hugging it to his chest.

"Bye, Lilith"

"Bye, Hunter. Come again, if you need more help."

He gave her a small smile.

"I will, thank you."

Game 7 - 7th Sea, Second Edition

7th Sea is a game about swashbuckling adventure, and the conflict between heroes and villains. It's another not!Earth setting, with this one placed in a time period analogous to the 17th Century.

It calls on novels like The Three Musketeers and movies like Sea Hawk. And though they're off by about a century, the Sharpe, Count of Monte Cristo, and Horatio Hornblower novels also fall into this area.

This would seem like a a case for our first gorgon archer that's an epitet, but actually, I've done this build before and there's a good way to go about this. I might dip into that build a bit here and there, but will likely do some variations. There is some homebrew involved, but it is at a level that the game expects you to do. Basically, some of the magic in the game provides examples of powers and encourages building your own powers. But let's go to the build.

Step 0: Concept

Now, we clearly have the concept in mind, because it's the entire point of this blog to do different versions of a gorgon archer in different systems. But there's a bit more to concept step than in a lot of games. The game uses a Twenty Questions method for developing character personalities.

What nation is your character from? The magic I'm thinking of using is from Ussura and while I've seen podcasts that allow mix and matching magic and nation (which I very much love), but for these builds, I try to stick to RAW as much as possible. I'm homebrewing some powers within the magic, but that's actively encouraged by the text. With this in mind, we're going with Ussura. Ussura is a not!Russia. The primary feeling is rural Russia with the deep forests, mountains, and folk tales. It's a land of "superstition". There is a darker land in the setting that is basically not!Germany by way of Castlevania. The magic in Ussura is dark but not really malevolent.

How would you physically describe your character? I'm assuming an athletic build, broad muscled-shoulders from pulling a bow string. Lots of moving around on foot, hunting in the hills and forests. Hair in multiple tight braids. Dusky skin from being out in the environment a lot. Dirt stains, lots of small scars. Dressing practically, hunters gears. When her magic is active, her hair becomes snakes.

Does your Hero have any recurring mannerisms? I think she plays the flute and will occasionally practice finger placements when she has a spare moment or when she's stressed.

What is your Hero's main motivation? She went out into the world after most of her village died. She was the only to survive due to Dar Matushka (her magic), and she wants to find out why it was done and who did it. This is going to be a long, ongoing thing with many steps. And along the way she'll encounter other situations that need a hero. She is seeking justice, but is teetering on revenge instead and this will project on to the other situations she finds herself in.

What is your Hero's greatest strength? Greatest weakness? Her greatest strength is her patience, useful for a hunter. And her greatest weakness is that she gets fixated and tunnel-visioned on things.

What's your Hero's most and least favorite things? Her favorite thing is a wonderfully cooked meal with a lot of spices. One of the best things she enjoys about traveling is enjoying the new foods she encounters. As for her least favorite things, she doesn't like card games. She never understands the rules and people are always accusing her of cheating.

What about your Hero's Psychology? This is a fairly open-ended question. And by "fairly" I'm engaging understatement. I would say this character is socially awkward and has a firm moral core, but as I said earlier, she fixates on things and misses out on the periphery. Her eye is on the target, but doesn't always on what's around her. And while she's patient, patient rage just means sustained risk of collateral damage.

What is your Hero's single greatest fear? The character is most afraid of disappointing people. She always felt she didn't do enough to support the people from her village and when they all died, it just pinged that tremendously. She has survivor's guilt and fears a repetition, though probably not consciously. So she's a bit focused on searching out potential evil and her tendency to fixate means that her self-care is dwindling.

What are your Hero's greatest ambitions? Her greatest love? The problem here is that finding that ambition and love would be part of her story as it develops. She's a person very much bound up in living up to expectations and taking on tasks. Very much a now person. She doesn't really know what she wants for herself. Hasn't even really thought of it.

What is your Hero's opinion of her country? She loves Ussura, the music, the culture, and everything. She enjoys experiencing it, at least from the edges, where she can avoid being overwhelmed. And she's started to see the merits in other cultures as well, now that she's traveling.

Does your character have any prejudices? She doesn't much like artists. Sometime when she was a child, an "artist" came through her village and grifted most of the people in town before moving on.

Where do your Hero's loyalties lie? She's a very personal person, her loyalties extend as far her own circle. She was loyal to her village and she's loyal to the people she meets and takes a liking too. But she also doesn't want to see harm come to people if it can be avoided.

Is your Hero in love? Is she married or betrothed? No. Anybody she would have been interested in growing up died. She may be ace or demi. She's never really thought about this sort of thing.

What about Hero's family? Well, first her family lost land and money to that grifter, and then everybody died due to a poisoned well. She likely has some relatives in other villages, but doesn't personally know them.

How would your Hero's parents describe them? A strange girl, never seems to show much emotion. Likes to watch people be on the edge of festivals. Loves to eat. Doesn't talk much.

Is your Hero gentle? In some ways, yes. She doesn't like to hurt people either emotionally or physically. On the other hand, she can be very efficient and brutal when she does need to fight. She approaches things like a hunter, weakening prey when she has to, but preferring to finish things in one action. Also, as she has been touched by Dar Matushka, she has a penchant for arranging lessons for people that may appear cruel on a first glance, even though they will turn out better for the subject... assuming they learn from it.

How religious is your Hero? She has a syncretic approach to religion mixing bits of the old gods and spirits of Ussura with the Church of the Prophets here and there. She doesn't participate much in ceremony or ritual, but expects priests to be good, holy people, while also respecting witches and sorcerers for what she considers an acceptable profession. This does mean she is especially offended when either prove to be villainous.

Is your Hero a member of a guild, gentle's club, or secret society? Not as of yet.

What does your Hero think of Sorcery? She is a sorcerer, though she didn't seek out becoming that. She considers sorcery to be a respectable profession with its own responsibilities. But she is aware of the dangers and temptations of some types of sorcery.

If you could, what advice would you give your Hero? Find your own path, live for yourself. Find something you love rather than moving from obligation to obligation. Even when you're the only one seeing the obligation.

So that was Step 0.

Step 1: Traits

These are your character's basic attributes, there are 5.

Brawn - strength and physical power

Finesse - agility and coordination

Resolve - willpower and endurance

Wits - ability to think on your feet.

Panache - charm and magnetism.

All of these start at 2 and we have two more points to add on top of that. One thing's for sure given the description we've had before, Panache is not our priority. That said, people can be charming without meaning to be. Still, however, Finesse will go up to represent her skill with stealth and archery and Resolve will go up due to her ability to focus on her goal. This means her Traits look like this:

Brawn: 2

Step 2: Nation Bonus

Our choice of Nation also gives a bonus to our traits. For Ussura, it would be a bonus to either Resolve or Wits. I could increase her Resolve to 4, but I think she is good on thinking on her feet within the bounds of her fixations. So lets take Wits and now our Traits look like this:

Brawn: 2

Finesse: 3

Step 3: Backgrounds

We choose two backgrounds that come with some Quirks to generate Hero Points, some Advantages, and five skills that gain a rank.

I already know which backgrounds this will be and while this character's personality is very different from the first time I did this build, these backgrounds are the same.

Hunter:

Quirk: Earn a Hero Point when you use your hunter’s acumen to save someone from danger.

Advantages: Sniper, Got It!

Skills: Aim, Hide, Intimidate, Notice, Ride

Touched by Dar Matushka:

Quirk: Earn a Hero Point when you teach someone a lesson in a way that would make Matushka proud.

Advantages: Sorcery x2, Survivalist

Skills: Athletics, Intimidate, Perform, Tempt, Theft

Step 4: Skills

With the points from our Backgrounds, our Skills currently look like this:

Aim: 1

Athletics: 1

Hide: 1

Theft: 1

We now have 10 points to spread between skills. At character creation, we can only go to a maximum of 3 in any stat. But getting to that 3 has something of a benefit, showing the list of skills and benefits for high ranks below:

First things I'm going to do is increase Aim, Athletics, and Notice. Adding 2 to each to max them out. That leaves us with 4 points left. I'm putting two of those points in Empathy, she's bad at emoting, but she's decent at reading people. Another point will go into Weaponry (she has used axes and knives) and one into Scholarship... just to add something a bit out of expectation. Apparently she likes to Read.

This makes her skills look like the following:

Aim: 3

Notice: 3

Perform: 1

Now, as a note, the way the game works, at the start of a scene, you choose a Trait and a Skill to determine the main way you plan on focusing your actions. So spreading things like this is definitely more towards RP purposes. But then again, there will be times that her high skills don't really apply to a situation, so having a spread of skills is still useful.

Step 5: Advantages

Our backgrounds already gave us some Advantages as follows:

Sniper (3pt) - You gain 1 Bonus Die when you make an Aim Risk using a long-barrelled musket, longbow, or crossbow.

Got It! (2pt) - Spend a Hero Point to immediately pick a lock, crack a safe, or disarm a trap.

Sorcery (2pt) - We'll deal with this a bit below.

Sorcery (2pt) - See above.

Survivalist (1pt) - If you are in the wilderness, you can forage or hunt and find enough food for yourself and up to five other people. Under extreme circumstances—lost in the middle of a desert, or abandoned in the Ussuran tundra, for example—you find enough food for yourself and up to two other people.

On top of this, we have 5 pts for more Advantages.

One of these advantages will be Poison Immunity, as part of her enchantment from Matuska. For another, and this is too funny, I'm taking Extended Family. She doesn't know that many people in her family, but they recognize her so frequently, she stumble upon a cousin or something that is glad to hear from family. For the last, I looked for an Advantage related to gambling but instead, I'm going to take Valiant Spirit so that she starts each game with 2 Hero Points instead of 1.

So now her Advantages look like the following:

Sniper (3pt) - You gain 1 Bonus Die when you make an Aim Risk using a long-barrelled musket, longbow, or crossbow.

Got It! (2pt) - Spend a Hero Point to immediately pick a lock, crack a safe, or disarm a trap.

Poison Immunity (2pts) - Poison never affects you, aside from some potential mild discomfort. If the poison would ordinarily kill you, it might cause you only to vomit instead, but there are no additional effects.

Sorcery (2pt) - We'll deal with this a bit below.

Valiant Spirit (2pt) - You begin each game with 2 Hero Points instead of 1.

Extended Family (1pt for Ussurans) - Spend a Hero Point to reveal you have a distant cousin who lives nearby and can help you with materials, information, or shelter.

And let's get on towards her Sorcery. she has Dar Matushka where she was given powers as part of a lesson in proper behaviors. As long as she doesn't violate certain restrictions, she has several Gifts she can use, and this is where homebrewing comes in as I homebrewed several gifts based on the examples in the book. I'm looking at the powers I used for the first time I did this build and they fit well enough into this character, except for the one that I pulled from the pre-made Gifts, Command, so I'm replacing that with Purify as it better matches her story.

I'm going to assume that she got the second rank of sorcery after her village died and that's when she gained her ability to cure and purify poisons as well as be protected from them herself. Either she sought out Matushka herself again, or else her sorcery simply grew in response to the trauma.

Serpent Hair - Spend a Hero Point to transform your hair into serpents. The extra eyes and other senses give you a Free Raise on Notice Risks for the rest of the scene. (My Creation)

Petrifying Gaze - Spend a Hero Point to reduce an opponent's Raises that round by your Intimidate rank due to being temporarily paralyzed. (My Creation)

Curative Blood - Spend a Hero Point to transform your blood into an antidote for any poison. You suffer a Wound for each person you want to cure. If the poison is supernatural in nature, you suffer a Dramatic Wound. (My Creation)

Purify - You cleanse a room of toxins, poisons, diseases, and even dirt. The room is perfectly sterile after its use. Purify affects every surface, inside closed and locked drawers, and even affects food and drink. A potentially unfortunate side effect of this is that any alcohol in the room loses its potency.

Now, let's look at the old restrictions unfortunately, they were better fit to the older build's personality. One is to never complain about things, and the other is to never brag about your abilities. Neither of them are much of a challenge for this character. So, I'm going to choose new Restrictions that are actual challenges for this character.

Each of these has a Limit which, if broken, causes her to lose the use of her Gifts; and a Penance, which allows her to regain those powers.

Community

Limit: You must refuse involvement with festivals and ceremonies.

Penance: You must act to bring a community together to one purpose.

This goes toward her preference for living on the edges of community. Now, if she is asked to take part in a festival in a central manner, she can't say no without consequence. And if she does, then she will basically have to organize a successful festival or other event. This could include a successful defense of a village or the like. And yes, as someone who hates being sucked into crowds and parties, I vividly feel what I'm doing to this character.

Consideration

Limit: You must not ignore the risk of collateral damage.

Penance: Perform reparation to those harmed.

This goes towards her tendency to fixate on people. I did consider the idea of making sure that her target is the proper source of her trouble, but I've already said her greatest strength is patience, so it wouldn't be tackling one of her weaknesses. So instead, I've made it so that her magic is dependent on her making sure she doesn't cause harm by accident.

Step 6: Arcana

Next comes "Arcana" which is themed along the major arcana of the tarot deck but with it's own setting-unique cards. We pull for two features: a Virtue and a Hubris. There's two ways to do this, one is to do it randomly by drawing a card from the deck (if you have one available) or rolling dice (there's 20 Arcana so a d20 works) The other option is to choose two cards that fit what you want.

I'm going with the random version, using d20s since I don't have a 7th Sea Arcana deck.

For Virtue, I rolled a 12 which is the Coins, as in "coins for the ferryman". The virtue for this is Adaptable: Activate your Virtue to take your first Action before anyone else in a Round.

For Hubris, I rolled a 18 which is the Reunion. The hubris for this is Bitterness: You receive a Hero Point when you bring up old grudges or bad feelings when doing so will lead to trouble.

Step 7: Stories

At this point, we're going to form a character's starting Story. These are how advancement happens. An improvement is triggered by completing a story and that story will have a number of steps equal to the point value of the improvement desired.

The point values of different improvements are as follows:

For this, I'm going to go with a 4 point Story aiming to gain the Advantage "Legendary Trait" this will be towards Resolve.

The story will be the first step toward her seeking out the villain behind killing her village. And I'm going to create a name finally here, Galina Pásés Sergovich, meaing she is Galina, Sergei's younger daughter from the village of Pásés.

Story: The entire village of Pásés was poisoned with Galina the only survivor.

Ending: Galina learns why her village was targeted.

First Step: Find someone to analyze her sample of poisoned well water.

Step 8: Details

And now we wrap things up with final details and the like. First we choose a Reputation, a one-word description of how people think of you. In this case, I'm going with "Quiet".

Then we choose languages. We always have Old Theah and the native language: Ussuran in this case. And because our Wits is higher than 2, we get a bonus language for each point higher than 2 it is. In this case, one more language. I could go with the obvious and take Sarmatian which is nearby, but instead I'm going to choose Eisen.

Next comes Secret Societies... in this case, I'm going to say she's part of no secret society at the start of the game.

Starting Wealth is 0. It is assumed you earn enough to make a living, but Wealth is the ability to buy extra things. And as a starting character from a poor background, she has only the default.

For Wounds, she also has the default of 4 dramatic wounds and 16 regular wounds.

And the final character looks like this:

Have honestly been feeling a bit put off by Rammstein since reading numerous posts on Reddit about the 'Row 0' girls, and that Till (it seems, exclusively just for him) has this arrangement with a so-called 'casting director' who scouts / accepts messages from young women of a certain appearance to be at the front row / attend after parties and this rumoured second secret after party that is just for Till (so they say).

I don't deny that this was harmless fun for some people, and I'm not taking that away from anyone but there's such an unwarranted hostility on the subreddit to people who have expressed their views on how shady this all seems. And even when a few people have shared having a negative experience - having their mobile phone taken off them, being spiked etc., it just sort of flies under the radar and I think it is because it isn't what people want to hear - not when it is their favourite band.

People are starting to get pissed off if others bring up the front row girls arrangement at all, like you should just accept it and shut up about it. On a discussion forum where people can't discuss their point of view without having predictable responses thrown their way like, 'they're adults and can do what they want' (no one is disputing that); 'consenting adults!' (totally ignores power dynamics in this situation and methods of procurement...it is icky to me that people are procured at all); 'what do you expect from Rammstein / it is the way it is, it is rock and roll blah blah blah' (appreciating a band's material - any artist really - doesn't always extend to being totally accepting of their real life practices, and there's a lot of shady activity that's been passed off as 'just rock and roll'). And my 'favourite' one I've seen, where people are accused of 'slut shaming'. On my part, I would never put the focus on the woman in this situation if she decides that is what she wants to do. I'm more questioning the whole set-up and the features that women in this situation are specifically being valued for. As some people on the subreddit have started posted looking for advice on how to be selected by the 'casting director', and if that were me, it would honestly wreck my self-esteem being valued on select physical attributes...and apparently there is a dress code? The dress code was rumoured before but now it's being spoken about as an actual thing, and this whole arrangement seems to have little do with being a fan, and more with what Till apparently finds pleasing.

I've been aware of this for a while and witnessed some comings and goings at the gig I attended in 2019. This tour has been very blatant in the arrangements whilst completing denying or ignoring that some people are having a bad time, and their voices are not being heard because nobody believes them. In any other situation where this didn't involve a band you loved, would people find it acceptable to accuse people of creating hoaxes (where questionable behaviour has been raised as to the goings-on at the private parties), or accusing women of lying and being jealous? And that female fans (in particular it seems) should just accept and put up with this very obvious circus because 'that's the way it's always been' and you must just be a prude if you have any kind of issue or ill feeling towards a much older man who has a female (assistant? employee?) who arranges for young women decades younger than him, to meet with him, and there's all these stories of sex with multiple of these women after shows on the subreddit?

In what scenarios have we heard that kind of language before? Liar, prude, jealous, etc.?

It's just really disappointing to me. As far as I've read online, I think Till is the only one really at the centre of this, no idea about the other guys. But it has gradually soured on me to the point I'm not sure I'd pay hundreds of pounds again to see them. There's other voices on the subreddit that share my sentiments, and I don't post much on there because I can't be bothered with the headache from some of the commenters (I have noticed there are the usual apologists who give the impression that Till can do no wrong) but have tried to put it across in as balanced a way as possible.

I just have a really unsettled feeling about all of it that I can't shake, and again I'm not denying that it's all bad because obviously I wasn't there and I can see from social media that most people seem to be having the time of their lives. But it is just something that has niggled at me and I can't really get those negative accounts - some of which sounded quite serious - out of my mind, and it is like no one is even entertaining them in the slightest.

I love your work ❤ I was wondering, if it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you consider writing something w/ preg!omega!kiri, and bakugou either says something dumb and makes him upset, or he goes into labor somewhere super inconvenient and baku either has to fight the urge to be at his omega's side (maybe he's fighting a villain or something?), or they're together, but baku has to deliver their kid? WARNING OMEGAVERSE

Everything that had happened in the past few days was one big horrible idea. Everything. Absolutely everything.

Bakugou had been stressed, but regardless, stress was not an excuse for some of his reckless and rude behavior. It didn’t change how he’d been acting. At the moment, he regretted his actions, he wanted nothing more than to go home and tell Kirishima he was sorry.

But he couldn’t do that right now.

He didn’t want to admit that he was scared and – and how he’d rather –

He grunted, he didn’t know what he wanted.

He thought he did but…

That morning, Bakugou noticed Kirishima was staring at the calendar there was no doubt that he was counting down the days to his delivery. They would be parents soon, to their first child and surprisingly, Kirishima was handling everything quiet well. He was ready, hell, he’d been ready the moment he found out he was pregnant.

Bakugou on the other hand, wasn’t as ready.

“I think we should give the pup up for adoption.” Bakugou said, suddenly, the words stumbled out of his mouth before he could stop them.

“W-what do mean?” Kirishima turned around, pressing his hand to his back, “You don’t mean our pup, do you?”

Bakugou nodded, “There’s no way we can take care of a baby right now.”

“We’ve been preparing for months.” Kirishima argued, he frowned, “We have clothes, and bottles, and toys. Katsuki, if you were so unsure, we should have talked about this a long time ago, not when I’m thirty eight weeks pregnant.”

“We can’t take care of a baby and be pro heroes, there’s no way.” Bakugou explained, “What if something happens to us – it wouldn’t be fair to the baby.”

“Katsuki –.”

“I can’t be a father.” Bakugou decided, his voice was low and he kept his gaze down, “Eijirou I can’t – and if –.”

Kirishima took in a sharp breath, anticipating what Bakugou’s next words were going to be. This didn’t seem like him, this wasn’t being manly this was being cowardly. Bakugou had been so excited since they discovered they were going to be parents and now, now something had changed.

Actually, the closer he got to his due date, the stranger Bakugou’s behavior had become.

He was obviously scared.

“Where is this coming from?” Kirishima inquired, he was deeply concerned for the sudden change in his alpha’s attitude toward his pup, “You, you told me you were excited…and you weren’t lying! Katsuki, what are you saying?”

“I just fucking said I don’t want to be a father.”

“But you, you said you did before, I don’t understand.”

“What is there not to understand?” Bakugou growled, “Has that stupid pup fucked up your brain to where –,”

“I’m not giving up our baby just because you’re afraid!” Kirishima accused, tears began to bubble at the corners of his eyes, “You weren’t afraid months ago – why are you afraid now!?”

“I’m not afraid!” Bakugou shouted, “I’m just being realistic, we can’t raise a child and you’re in denial that we can!”

“I –.” Kirishima paused, he could feel the pup moving inside him, he sighed, “Get out.”

“Fine!” Bakugou yelled, “You take care of that pup alone then!”

Bakugou stomped toward the door and knocked down a glass vase with flowers he had bought for Kirishima a few days ago. The glass shattered into small pieces along with the sound of a door slamming.

Bakugou hated fighting with Kirishima, but, the omega was right – Bakugou was fucking terrified of being a parent. He thought he was ready, but, came to realization that he might not be. Maybe suggesting they give up the pup was not a good way to initiate the conversation.

Bakugou managed to walk to a park where he sat a bench.

“What happened?”

Bakugou looked up and saw Mina staring at him.

“What do you mean?”

“Eijirou just called me and told me he needs help cleaning up a vase, and you yelled at him, and said you wanted to give up the pup.” Mina listed.

Bakugou was about to speak to defend himself but Mina didn’t allow it, she continued to chew him out, “Grow the hell up, Bakugou!”

“Listen I –.”

“I’m not listening to anything you say right now!” Mina shouted, “If you’re not going to take care of your pup because you’re scared then I will! I’ll help Eijirou with everything and we’ll make it so that the baby grows up and never knows you’re his father!”

“You can’t do that!” Bakugou argued, he stood up from the bench and stared Mina in the eyes.

“I thought you didn’t want to be a father.”

“I –.”

“I’m not listening to anything you have to say, and if you decide to go back home I can’t honestly say that Eijirou will take you back!” and with that she walked off, ignoring Bakugou’s demands for her to come back and talk to him.

He sat back down on the bench and hung his head down low.

She was right.

He let his emotions get the better of him, and this time, was unlike any other time because it was with his omega. Bakugou always considered Kirishima to be his omega even though they hadn’t bonded yet.

And the reason behind why they hadn’t bonded yet.

Was that Bakugou was scared.

Kirishima had wanted to bond, and had asked plenty of times but each time had ended in an argument because Bakugou was to scared to do it.

He was too afraid to let someone see and feel his overstimulated emotions, especially Kirishima.

He glanced toward the buildings of the city, maybe fighting some villains might help him clear his head.

But no.

Not even that plan worked out how he wanted.

Annoyed and frustrated with just about everything, Bakugou was careless and got captured by a villain.

It had been nearly twenty four hours since his capture and he wanted nothing more than to cuddle with his omega and apologize. Although, he wouldn’t be surprised if Kirishima wasn’t even looking for him. As far as Kirishima knew, Bakugou probably left him for good, right? After everything he said to him, Bakugou had convinced himself that Kirishima probably wasn’t even looking for him.

But if he was found.

Bakugou decided he’d bond with Kirishima.

But, instead of making up with his boyfriend, he was stuck, he had been fucking taken hostage by some annoying-ass villains that wanted Kirishima. These guys had a grudge against him, but hopefully, he was safe somewhere –

Bakugou bit down on his lip and tried to activate his quirk but couldn’t.

He could hear the villains talking nearby, thinking they’d successfully lure Kirishima out here.

There was no way Kirishima would be dumb enough to fall into their trap.

The two villains who captured Bakugou immediately made contact with the media and informed everyone that they had Bakugou and wanted Red Riot.

Ida, Todoroki, and Midoriya went to collect Mina and Kirishima and relocated them to Ida’s agency so they can think of a plan.

But of course, Kirishima kept insisting he go and confront the villains, all while ignoring a pain branching around his back and lower pelvis. He knew what was happening to his body, but he didn’t want to deliver his baby without Bakugou there.

“Please wait,” he thought, “Not now, little pup.”

“We can’t let you go.” Ida told Kirishima, for what felt like the billionth time, “We’ll handle this.”

“I can use my hardening –.”’

“No.” Ida decided, “If they’re trying to lure you to them, don’t you think they have a way to combat your hardening? Maybe an acid or some way to erode your quirk?”

“But…”

“Do you know exactly how long you can keep your hardening up while in your current state?”

“Okay, not long but I think I can get everything done in time.” Kirishima urged.

“No.”

Mina took Kirishima’s hand and squeezed it, “They’ll bring him back, they just sent Izuku and Shoto over.”

“Why can’t I use my quirk!?” Bakugou shouted at one of his captors, a tall woman with green eyes and long black hair.

She laughed, and rolled her eyes, “Really, who knew Red Riot has a thing for dumb dirty blonds.”

“You better be happy these stupid vines have me restrained or –.” he paused, his mind putting together the puzzle, “Fuck…”

It was the vines. Thick dark green vines were constricted around Bakugou’s wrists and legs. Thorns dug into his skin, making it painful for him to try and break free, the more he struggled the deeper the thorns cut into him.

One vine was tethered around the woman’s ankle – maybe, if he could figure out a way to sever this link in between them he’d be able to use his quirk.

But how?

The woman smiled at him, she knew he had figured it out, “As long as my vines are wrapped around you, not only do you no longer have power over your quirk, but I do.” she then demonstrated by igniting little sparks from her palms.

“Just because you can use it, doesn’t mean you know how!” Bakugou snarled.

“Shouldn’t be to hard to use, I mean, since you can do it.” she insulted.

“Fuck you!”

“Oh and if they decide to send the wrong hero, like hmmm, Deku…” she began to explain, “They’ll have to deal with my brother’s quirk.”

“Which is?”

The air temperature around them began to drop by the second, the woman smiled, “It looks like someone is here to rescue you, I guess that means you’ll see my brother’s quirk soon.”

“Ah ow…”

At the utterance of the word, the whole room paused and looked at Kirishima who smiled reassuringly, “I’m fine, it’s just a contraction…”

Mina crossed her arms and stared at him, annoyed at how nonchalant he was about beginning labor.

“Are you in labor?” Ida asked.

“I don’t think so.” Kirishima denied.

“Do you need to go to the hospital?” Mina asked.

“No.”

Ida frowned, “You said you’re having contractions, I think that means you’re in labor.”

“Eijirou, how far apart are they?” Mina spoke her concern.

“I think, about five minutes.”

“Fi-five!?” Ida repeated, surprised.

“We should take you to the hospital, just in case.” Mina urged, she stood up and took Kirishima’s hand but he didn’t want to go with her.

“Not without Katsuki.”

“We’ll have Bakugou meet us there, if you want to see him.”

“I…I do.”

“Mina, have we agreed to take him to the hospital?” Ida asked.

“Of course!”

Kirishima was hesitant to go with them, but what choice did he have? The baby was ready to see the world and meet his fathers. Hopefully, both of them.

“Okay.” Kirishima finally agreed, and allowed Mina to help him stand.

Of course this baby would have Bakugou’s impatience.

“You two need to get out of here now!” Bakugou screamed, as soon as a he saw Midoriya and Todoroki step through the the entrance of the warehouse, “That guy has some weird quirk, don’t go near him!”

Midoriya reacted quicker to Bakugou’s words than Todoroki, he grabbed onto his wrist to keep him from advancing further. He observed the pair of villains standing just a few feet in front of Bakugou. Both the man and the woman possessed a similar body type, although she was taller but not by much. They both had long black hair and snake like green eyes.

Midoriya noticed the vines wrapped around Bakugou and how they were attached to the woman by her ankle.

“Do you think you can do something about those vines?” Midoriya whispered to Todoroki, “I think if you just cut that one connecting the two of them that should be good.”

“No problem.”

“I’ll handle the man.”

“Don’t step in here!” Bakugou begged, “His name is Sao and he can –.”

“Don’t ruin the fun!” Sao kicked Bakugou in the chest before running toward the pair of heroes ready to rescue their friend.

Todoroki froze the ground beneath Sao, to which he smiled and said, “Not going to work.”

“Wha -,”

Midoriya wrapped an arm around Todoroki’s chest and jumped into the air. Roots sprouted from the ground, reaching up toward the pair. One root managed to wrap itself around Midoriya’s ankle but was pulled apart the further Midoriya went.

The pair landed on the roof of a nearby building, and Midoriya lost his balance and fell.

“What’s that on your leg?” Todoroki asked, kneeling beside Midoriya.

“I…I’m not sure but…” Midoriya reached for the root and tried to pull it off his leg but it wouldn’t release itself, “You try.”

Todoroki nodded, first he tried to freeze it and break it off but that didn’t work. Then he tried to burn it off, which also didn’t work, he looked up at Midoriya and said, “Hey, didn’t Bakugou say Sao had a weird quirk, do you feel okay?”

“I think so, umm, just a little sleepy.”

“Hmm…I’ll call Ida.” Todoroki decided, “Maybe he can help us think of a plan.”

Kirishima squeezed Mina’s hand as another contraction ripped through him, “Ow, ow, ow…”

Mina spoke on the phone to Ida who was in the waiting area, “What do you mean they haven’t got Bakugou? We need him here, now!”

Kirishima gazed up at Mina, “They didn’t – ahhhh, I – I don’t think I can do this without him!”

Mina growled and shut off the phone, “Think of this being a surprise for him.”

“What do you mean?”

“Imagine how happy he’ll be to come back and see you with the baby!” she encouraged.

“Fine.” Kirishima nodded, “Yeah, okay…”

A doctor with two nurses walked into the room, and informed, “I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to wait any longer, I know you’re waiting for your alpha but…”

“It’s fine.” Kirishima decided, “I, I’m ready.”

The doctor positioned herself in between Kirishima’s legs and commented, “Oh wow. This baby is ready to come out, give me two or three big pushes and you’ll meet your new pup.”

“Yeah.”

“Ready, take a deep breath and push!”

Kirishima yelled and pushed as hard as he could, the pressure in his pelvis was building up.

“The head is out, give me one last big push!” the doctor commanded.

“You’re almost there, Eijirou, you can do it!” Mina encouraged.

Kirishima pushed one last time and felt that pressure finally leave him, he laid back in his bed trying to catch his breath. The doctor held up the baby from in between Kirishima’s legs, the little pup was crying.

“He sounds so much like Katsuki.” Kirishima said, breathily.

“Yeah, but Bakugou doesn’t sound as cute though.” Mina joked.

One of the nurses quickly cleaned up the baby and handed him to Kirishima, who immediately started crying.

“Hey there, I’m Aunt Mina.” Mina introduced herself, “And this is your Dad, you have another dad too, but he’s having some problems getting here.”

“I’ve just been informed by one of the nurses that Kirishima has successfully given birth to a boy.” Ida informed Midoriya and Todoroki, “But I haven’t gone in to see him yet.”

“To bad Kacchan wasn’t there.” Midoriya said, with a sigh and a frown.

“I’m done talking.” Todoroki stood up and hung up the video chat, he turned to Midoriya, “When we have our first child, we’re both going to be there, it’s not fair that Bakugou didn’t get to see his pup being born. We have to save him, now.”

Midoriya smiled, and nodded, “Yeah.”

Midoriya stood up, but felt a burning sensation emitting from his ankle that had the root attached to it. The leg collapsed under his weight, but he caught himself with his hands. He looked down at his ankle and heard a ‘pssst’ sound as the root burned through his uniform and into his skin.

Todoroki cursed and used ice to cool down the root, hoping it would keep it from eroding further through Midoriya’s ankle.

“Does that feel better?”

“Umm, y-yeah.”

“I’m going to try and take this off you –,”

“It’s fine like this, we have to go save Kacchan first!” Midoriya decided, “We’ll just have to keep it cold.”

“Izuku –,”

“Shoto, please we have to save him so he can see his baby.”

“Alright fine.” Todoroki reluctantly agreed, “But I won’t hesitate to drag you out of the battle if I see things getting bad.”

“Understood.”

Bakugou’s eyes flicked from Sao to his sister Sai, as he desperately tried to think of a plan. He needed to get his omega. Shit, what if Kirishima goes into labor and Bakugou wasn’t there for him? Bakugou had to escape, he had to see his pup, and he had to bond with Kirishima.

At this point the only thing he was afraid of, was Kirishima leaving him.

Bakugou decided that the first thing he needed to do was free himself from the stupid vines.

Bakugou wanted so desperately to be with Kirishima, it was like he could smell his wonderful omegan scent.

Unknown to Bakugou the most perfect, unplanned plan was about to unfold.

Unknown to Todoroki and Midoriya, Kirishima had snuck out of the hospital and was ready to rescue his alpha. Kirishima knew his baby was safe with Mina and Ida and the nurses at the hospital. He’d come back as soon as he finished this.

Kirishima kicked down a hole in the wall, and shouted, “Give me back my boyfriend!,” at the exact same time Todoroki threw some frozen shards toward Sai and her vines. With Sai and Sao’s attention on Kirishima, Todoroki managed to sever a few of the vines around Bakugou.

As soon as Bakugou felt his quirk return, he blasted himself in the direction of Sao. Knowing that Sao had the ability to burn his opponents with the use of nearly impossible to remove roots, Bakugou wanted to take him down. Those roots could probably burn through Kirishima’s hardening.

Wait –

That’s right Kirishima was –

As Bakugou shoved Sao to the ground, he turned around to look at Kirishima who was charging after Sai. And his heart sank…Kirishima wasn’t pregnant.

He missed it.

He missed the birth of his first pup.

In frustration, Bakugou ignited a few nonfatal blasts against Sao, knocking him unconscious.

Vine’s launched out of Sai’s arms and became wrapped around Kirishima who had no idea what they could do. He figured he could use his hardening to break out the grip of the vines but by the time he realized his quirk was gone it was to late. Sai used the vines to throw Kirishima against the concrete floor.

A horrible pain racked through Kirishima from his pelvis and he screamed.

Hearing the cries of his beloved omega pissed Bakugou off, he shouted Kirishima’s name as he ran toward him. He was ready to destroy that woman, how dare she hurt Kirishima.

Sensing that Bakugou was about to kill someone, Midoriya rushed over and severed the vines with a punch while Todoroki froze Bakugou’s feet and Sai.

The vines around Kirishima disappeared to reveal blood blooming from in between his legs and staining the concrete floor.

“Eijirou!” Bakugou called out.

Todoroki thawed the ice from Bakugou’s feet and ordered him, “Take Kirishima to the hospital, we’ll deal with these two.”

Bakugou didn’t even acknowledge Todoroki, he carefully lifted Kirishima in his arms and began to make his way toward the hospital.

“Why the hell did you come here?” Bakugou hissed.

“To rescue you…because I love you…” Kirishima said, his voice was weak.

“Eijirou, I – I’m sorry…,” before Bakugou could continue Kirishima lost consciousness from blood loss.

Kirishima had to be taken to surgery in order to control all the hemorrhaging. While his omega was in the OR, Bakugou was able to meet his little pup.

The little boy had bright red eyes and straw colored hair.

Bakugou gave him a little kiss on the side of the head, and apologized, “I’m sorry I wasn’t there to see you being born.”

The baby just stared up at him, and yawned.

“I hope that means you forgive me.”

A few moments later, Kirishima was brought out of surgery and returned to his room. The doctor was with him, and she smiled at Bakugou, “So you must be the alpha he was waiting for.”

“Yeah.”

“Well, I’d like to tell you that both your pup and omega are fine, however, due to the injuries Kirishima experienced it might be almost impossible to conceive again.” the doctor explained, “If you were to successfully conceive a pup, the pregnancy will be a difficult one, so I’d advise you both be careful with your ruts and heats.”

“I understand.” Bakugou answered.

“Good, I’ll leave you three alone.” and the doctor said, then left.

Bakugou handed the little pup back to Kirishima and he began apologizing while tears ran down the sides of his face, “I’m so sorry about everything I did and that I - I’m sorry I missed the pup being born and that you had to do it on your own.”

“I’m still hurt about everything you said.” Kirishima admitted, “I think it will take a while for me to get over everything but, I love you and I know we can make everything work.”

Bakugou kissed Kirishima on the cheek, “I love you too, Eijirou.”

Real people can queerbait. If someone famous clearly hints more than once that they may not be straight knowing for sure they are that is queerbaiting. Celebrities are brands too. People using all Harry's support towards the community is obviously inaccurate and no one should listen to larries ever but if someone queer feels like certain things Harry has said about himself feel like queerbaiting then that's how they feel like and they're not so wrong that people should invalidate their feelings.

Just as a starter, I don’t think that larries are uniquely (or even predominantly) the ones at issue in how people address Harry’s sexuality, it’s a pretty fandom-wide issue. But beyond that, feeling disappointed that Harry (or any other celebrity) is not openly LGBT because you felt like he indicated he was and it would mean a lot to you if he came out, and blaming Harry/accusing him of queerbaiting for it, are two completely different things. People will react how they react to what Harry does and says. But it does not make Harry blameworthy and it is not queer baiting.

I think many people are putting hugely unfair pressure on Harry. Sexuality is really complicated for a lot of people. Putting a label onto how you identify and saying that label and formally “coming out” and all of that is really hard for most LGBT people. To take myself for an example, like the fact that I am ~not straight literally never occurred to me until I was 18 and in college. Like I can look back and identify signs now, but truly, the realization hit me like a bus in a (no kidding) intro Women’s and Gender Studies class, when I realized I had a crush on this cute sophomore. I’ve since then had approximately 9,456 mini-crises. I’m on the board of my school’s LGBT organization, have four (five if you count the Lisa Frank rainbow unicorn) LGBT-related stickers on my laptop, and regularly wear pride shirts. But if you ask me how I self-identify, I will drop a smoke ball and run away, because it’s hard and it makes me nervous and I dunno, I just don’t want to! Like my parents probably have suspicions, but I’m not “out” to them. There’s no reason, like they’d support me and all that, I just… haven’t done it. The thought of any formal sit down or whatever just…. stresses me out? Like I said, I dunno! I’ll make some jokes and have ~indicators of my sexuality all around, but I’m not really “out.” And who knows, maybe I’ll end up with a guy and will have never really “came out” and people won’t really know how I identify. But does that mean I was baiting anyone? No. It means things are complicated.

And one of my best friends definitely identifies as straight. But she’s on the board of the LGBT organization too, and worked at Lambda Legal, and has pride stickers too. Lots of people probably think she identifies as LGBT too. But she doesn’t. She’s just an ally who actually shows up and does stuff for the community. She doesn’t constantly declare her sexuality, because that’d be weird! I’m skeptical of allies who need to constantly reaffirm their straightness. Someone thinking you LGBT is not a bad thing. Reaffirming straightness while claiming to support the LGBT community isn’t really helping, it’s continuing to perpetuate that it’s bad to not be straight. So is she queer baiting anyone? No.

Think about how messy all my feeling are, which just exist in a small vacuum of my life, and then put it onto the stage of literally millions. Harry has 20 million followers on his social media account! People track everything his says and does. If I find the idea of addressing my sexuality stressful and complicated, imagine what it might be like for him. So if he does identify as LGBT (and loving women doesn’t make him not LBGT! there are more identities than just gay or straight!), and he feels comfortable making jokes and waving pride flags, because it’s reaffirming to him and also reaffirming to LGBT fans, then great! It means a lot to me and I’m glad he’s comfortable doing it. If he’s not comfortable saying “I’m not straight,” for any reason, I respect that! And I get that like holy crap, I can’t imagine the stress he’d feel.

And if he identifies as 100% straight, then he’s actually done what I want allies to do. He’s reaffirmed the validity of LGBT people and supported causes and been there during the bad times and the good times, and made tons of fans feel more welcome, loved, and safe. And he did it without making it about him, without making it “I’M NOT GAY BUT.” He did it just to do it.

One more final note, before I wrap up this essay: I also think the idea that it is bad that Harry could be choosing not to come out for career purposes is really, really harmful. It may be that Harry/his team/those close to him came to the decision that at this point in his career, explicitly coming out wouldn’t be wise. There is still so much homophobia out there. I could blame him 0% if he made that decision and it was largely a strategic one. It doesn’t undue the constant support he’s shown in ways that are still explicit, but don’t involve “coming out.” And people make the decision to not be out at work all the time. It’s shitty and I wish it wasn’t the case, but it is. LGBT people have to make active choices about whether or not to be “out” all the time. The world’s more welcoming than it used to be for LGBT people, but it’s still… not all that welcoming. There is ample evidence for that. I would never expect Harry to come out just to make me happy, if he didn’t feel it was the right decision for him at this point. Everyone can have their own feelings and that is allowed, but you can’t project your feelings onto a real human making decisions in a landscape of potentially complicated feelings and difficult situations and get angry when they’re not following what you want them to do. Life is tough, and I really do think Harry is doing his best to be here for the LGBT community, whether he is explicitly part of it or an ally.
