There’s No Saying Goodbye To Me: Final Chapter
Chapter Nine; We Have A Lot To Talk About
I can’t believe I finally fucking finished this thing! It was a one shot for a challenge from @sherrybaby14 like... two years ago. Thank you all for your patience and your enthusiasm. I hope you feel like this is a fitting end for the story.
Thank you a thousand times to the beautiful and clever @dangertoozmanykids101 for this wonderful, WONDERFUL GIF she made for this story. I love you, sister! 18+ warnings for a metric fuck ton of sex, m/m/f, and tons of profanity.
The beautiful and brilliant @dangertoozmanykids101 just sent me the most magnificent song from this sultry, lounge-type singer who’s rather fabulous. She said she could hear this being sung during our girl’s final bout of sex with Steve and Bucky. Have a listen as you read...
Cara Emerald - I Belong To You In which saving the world and killing a Tesseract is trickier than one might think...
“How does this work again?”
You were stumbling over the rocks in the cavern behind the waterfall, the gems above you still glowing with that unearthly sheen that didn’t seem to need a light source to reflect it. Bucky was holding your hand, helping you step over some of the more significant tripping hazards.
“We can’t use any of your electronics to contact our worl-” Steve hesitated, “-the old world. The frequency there is slower. But the stones act as a conduit and we can amplify the signal here.”
You eyed the setup- a suspiciously simple device that looked like a phone and a huge monitor. “Did you bring this over with you?”
Bucky chuckled, leading you over to the screen, which was glowing with the same soft hue as the gems. “No, we learned that lesson. Everything that’s not organic- flesh, cotton, leather- fritzed out and exploded. Two of the first parallels showed up mostly naked and with second-degree burns. This is all jerry-rigged, but it works.”
“This is so voodoo…” you mumbled as the glowing screen morphed into an image of Nicholas Fury, whose eyepatch was on his right eye, rather than his left.
“So you’re the one who’s been causing all the problems,” he growled, not even bothering to greet Bucky and Steve.
“Sorry, Commander… Captain…?” You looked over for help and Steve supplied “General.”
“General Fury,” you corrected, “but getting kidnapped and white-roomed wasn’t my idea of a honeymoon.” He leaned closer to the screen, an even larger scowl digging into his features and you waved your hand. “However, let’s not waste time.”
“If you think you have something we haven’t seen, this would be the time to share it.” He sounded cold and composed, like your Fury, but he was haggard, skin greyish and the room behind him was shabby, people in ragged uniforms or street clothes moving back and forth behind him, everyone with an air of urgency. Even the lighting seemed greyer.
“This came to mind after I understood that fire can take out the smoke entities. I’m sure you’ve tried every kind of flame and blast-based weaponry, but Steve-” you looked over to verify and he nodded, smiling at you, “-Steve told me they rebuild numbers by hiding in major bodies of water.”
“True,” Fury rubbed under his eyepatch with his thumb. “We tried chemical weapons, conventional weaponry, even wasted most of the Australian continent with a nuclear weapon, which poisoned the oceans up to Japan and through Malaysia and Indonesia. We launched nuclear weapons again in Russia at the biggest cluster of them we could target. Minimal damage. To the entities, at least. I’d like Stark to hear this but he’s rigging up an ariel explosion sequence right now.”
“Okay, hear me out, last month, I was reviewing some research documents for Director Fury about a new Thermite composition. Thermite is spectacular because it doesn’t need oxygen to burn-”
“Yes, yes,” Fury interrupted. “It has been extremely effective for us here, but since it forms its own vapor barrier, it cannot be used underwater.”
“There’s something new,” you cut in, and you could tell by his irritable face that people did not interrupt Fury. But you were all short on time. “The new Thermite research here utilized metastable intermolecular composites, which kept the high boiling point at 2887 Celsius. It burns underwater. You can set an endpoint by releasing nanothermites in a timed charge. I can access the research again- it’s not at such a high-security level that it will set off too many internal alarms. We can alter the composition by…what was it with Dr. Banner’s work? The key numbers were all exactly .05% off from our Earth’s formulas. I can correct the composition within minutes and I’m guessing you have all the metal components needed?”
There was something strange with Fury’s expression. On anyone else, you might assume it was cautious optimism, but you didn’t think he was familiar with that emotion. “We do.”
“General, if you can track the clusters, you can bomb the shit out of them from the air and block them from reproducing.” Your expression clouded, “But you will be superheating the body of water for about a mile around the detonation site. There’s going to be more marine life destruction. But… you have a chance.”
“I’ve never seen Fury speechless before,” Bucky whispered to Steve behind you. There was a low grunt which sounded like Steve had nailed him in the side with his elbow.
“How soon can you get it to us?” The general’s voice was hoarse with exhaustion. “Gentlemen, I don’t need to tell you how dire this is; the situation here has speeded up the Doomsday clock. You have to destroy the space fold and the vortex within the next twenty-four hours. Even if this new formula works, we can’t risk…”
You looked at this even harder, colder version of your Director Fury, you watched the emotionless expressions of the people passing behind them. Of course, Steve and Bucky were harsher, even cruel, of course the other Avengers were. Their entire lives were spent fighting against the inevitable end.
Bucky and Steve shared a look. “What about Tony and Natasha?”
“I’m getting them out of here within the next twelve hours, but we’re burning out the connection on our side. You have to be ready to handle it there. How big was the entity that got through the vortex?”
Bucky rubbed his face with both hands for a moment. “We got lucky. It was a baby. That must be how it slipped through the sensors.”
The men moved into some entity and astrophysics talk that you couldn’t follow with your exhausted brain already trying to put together the information you needed, so you jumped a little when Steve put an arm around you.
“Are you ready to head back to the house, sweetheart?”
And for the first time since he’d kidnapped you, that actually sounded like a good idea.
There was coffee, much coffee for the rest of the night, and you didn’t even notice the sun’s early rays washing the bay in front of the house with a golden sheen. You were lucky; they hadn’t changed your passwords in the Washington DC offices, which you personally thought was a little sloppy. But you got what you needed. The next meeting with Fury was terrifying. He was in a different location, and there were wounded being dragged by others who looked just as bad. He took the information you’d sent him and passed it to another aide without expression.
“Tony and Natasha will be paralleling as soon as he checks the numbers here. They’re the last.”
“How many more were you able to get out,” Bucky asked. He looked stoic, but you could see him gritting his teeth.
“Only another 120 or so,” Fury said.
“But- they thought they could parallel another couple thousand people at least!” Steve protested.
Fury chuckled in the most humorless way you could imagine. “We’re down to one platform, Rogers. The rest of them were overrun by the entities. The workers detonated the platforms - and themselves - to keep the entities from reaching them.” His single eye focused on you. “Thank you for your service,” he nodded.
You gave a wet little chuckle, the enormity of it all was finally slamming into you like a punch to the heart. “I wish our Director Fury could have met you. I can only imagine how incendiary that meeting would be. I… I wish you the best.” You nodded firmly. ”This can work. I’m absolutely certain.”
“I am afraid we will not be able to update you, but I hope you’re right.”
Walking on the edge of the waterfall, looking down you remembered jumping off the rock ledge with Steve and screaming on the way down, not entirely sure how you would land. Your entire life felt that way right now. Steve and Bucky were still talking to Fury in low tones, their faces grim.
But walking back to the house, they were silent, slowing down as they approached the location of the vortex, staring into the dark mass of trees and vines.
“C’mon,” Steve finally says, “we all need to shower and get ready to…” He exchanges a long glance with Bucky and you feel your stomach churn. The look they’re giving each other is the bleak one Fury wore during your last discussion.
“Get ready to what?” Their long legs are carrying them away and you trot after them. “To do what?”
By the time you reach the terrace, they’re both stripping down by the outside shower. Even though this place has been your prison, you instantly loved this set-up; a large space, glassed-in on three sides with a grey slate floor and multiple copper showerheads to flow in every direction.
Pausing, you can’t help admiring the sheer beauty of these two. They may be heartless bastards, but you can understand why they were so hard. They’re softening in their treatment toward you, which gives you hope that there’s some humanity left. Steve said he’d send you back to Washington DC, but you can’t go back now.
They’re both naked now, Bucky with his beautiful, bulky musculature and his glistening Vibraniam arm, and Steve with his perfectly sculpted body. His big, capable hands washing his hair, turning it darker from the water as the white suds slip over broad, tanned shoulders and down that chest you used to lick, trailing each abdominal muscle in his eight-pack with the tip of your tongue.
Shit. Your mouth is actually watering.
Marching over, you turn both showerheads to cold. It doesn’t even cause them to blink, still mechanically washing off the soot and filth from last night. “Okay…” you hiss, turning off the main switch to the outdoor system and blocking them from turning it back on. “Get ready to do what?” They share another glance and you yell this time. “Stop doing that having a conversation thingie with a mere glance! Tell me what the fuck is about to happen!”
Bucky’s long hair is dripping, and he pushes it out of his face. “Doll, we have to close the fold in space from our side here. And we have to destroy the vortex so nothing else can come through. It’s… Look, I think Steve is right to send you back to DC.”
“Well- well no, Bucky!” you spluttered, “it’s not right and I’m not going! I think I’ve proved that I can help with whatever the hell your earth is tossing into ours. If you two can get hurt, I can… I should be here, and I will help, so that-”
“Sweetheart.” Steve’s long-ass arms wrap around you from behind, and he bends his bulk over to rest his chin against your shoulder. “I was selfish to bring you here. I was stupid, trying to break you and wasting the time I might have had with you if I’d done this right. But the reality is, everything we planned on is gone. The entities are tearing through our defenses like tissue paper. We thought we had months, maybe years. It’s looking more like a few days.”
“But, I know the new Thermite composition will work! They can drive them back to the oceans and burn them inside out, it’ll work!”
His cheek brushed against yours as he spoke, and his golden stubble rasped against your cheek. “I know it will, sweetheart. It’s genius. But we’ll never know because we have to close any possible connection from here to there. And we don’t know if the detonations will…”
Steve’s voice drifted off, you’d never heard his firm, commanding voice weaken. He was never afraid to tell the harsh truth.
“Could this- could you two die trying to do this?” Your lungs felt like they were filled with lead, like it was impossible to draw a full breath.
Bucky sighed. “Yes.”
You don’t know what to say, so you turn the water back on, grab a big, soapy sponge and run it across Steve’s chest, swirling it around his nipples and down each sculpted arm. Lathering it up again, you wash Bucky’s back, putting a line of kisses against the thick knots of scar tissue where his shoulder meets his vibranium arm. Smiling at his impertinent grin, you run your fingers through his long hair, gently massaging his scalp and working the shampoo through each strand. Then, it’s back to Steve, soaping his exquisitely chiseled ass, squeezing each firm cheek with a little sigh. Long before you’d loved this man, you had loved this ass. Watching him run through the streets in Manhattan in those thin sweatpants? Oh, my god.
Wait. That wasn’t this Steve, that was my St-. No, that Steve was never mine. You were a placeholder. But this Steve traveled through a parallel fold in space which was still freaking you the fuck out and you would need a more detailed explanation later but…
You realize your hands have slowed during your extended mental ramble, and they’re both looking at you with little grins. Not big ones, the kind you would want to smack right off their faces. Just… small ones. Like they enjoyed your weird little quirks.
And then they take the soap, and the sponge, and their big, rough hands, and they clean you. Everywhere. Every crevice. You have never been so clean. You’re between them, pressed against Bucky’s chest, your head lolling against his shoulder. Steve is soapy, you’re soapy, and he’s rubbing himself hard against you. His thigh slides up between yours, and your knees instantly weaken, which… just pushes your center down on all those beautifully chiseled muscles.
Bucky, damn him, is kissing along your jaw, whispering filthy things. “You have no idea how gorgeous you look right now, your hips circling and pushing your pretty little pussy down hard on his leg.” You can feel him, hard and hot against the small of your back.
“You should probably kiss me,” you whisper to him even while having no idea why you’re whispering.
Bucky’s chest is shaking and you realize the little bastard is laughing. “Why are we whispering?” he whispers. His hands slide to your hips and he’s helping you move faster along the long, long thigh of Steve Rogers, who is currently cupping your breasts in his hands, rolling your nipples with the tips of his fingers and looking very interested.
“It's because my other boyfriend is right here,” you whisper back. “We wouldn’t want him to get jealous.’
Both these men pause, hardened, battle-tested, and fresh from the grim deathscape of their world. They look at you and just start howling. Laughing so hard that it squishes you even closer to them both and it feels wonderful.
“You’re right, doll,” Bucky wheezes, “we should get out of this shower and go make out in the bedroom. Maybe send Stevie here out for a gallon of milk or something.”
“I’m standing right here, asshole,” Steve points out, but he’s still laughing. And you can tell from the vague look of surprise on his beautiful face that it’s something that hasn’t happened for a long time. He takes the showerhead and rinses you all off, though he keeps it between your legs far longer than is necessary for actual cleanliness.
But when you’re all in the bedroom, naked and nobody’s laughing anymore. This could be your last time with one of them, or both. And the thought of it is somehow horrifying. You’d gone from hating and fearing them both to… you didn’t know… to at least understanding why they approached you the way they did.
Bucky slides in behind you, sitting up against the pillows and putting your legs over his long ones, which pulls them wider, running his hands along the soft skin of your inner thighs. He’s kissing your neck and whispering his dirty talk again, “Steve wants to worship your perfect pussy, see how hungry he is?”
Steve was, in fact, on his stomach and leaning in on his elbows, thick fingers spreading your lips wide as he blew gently on your exposed clitoris, making you yelp and try to pull away for a second. Wrapping his arms around your thighs - and Bucky’s, you have mentioned before Steve has the wingspan of a bald eagle - and you feel Bucky’s chest shake behind you.
“I did not say that out loud!” You’re trying to hide your face and close your knees at the same time and they’re laughing and keeping you from doing either thing.
“Have I ever mentioned how much I love how chatty you are in bed?” Steve chuckles, kissing the thin skin of your thigh before nuzzling into your center again. The tip of his perfectly-shaped nose is rubbing against your clit and his tongue is hot and just… oh, god now he’s tunneling it up inside you and growling. Like a beast and it sets you off embarrassingly quickly.
Bucky’s hands slide down to cup your breasts, idly running his thumbs over the sensitive skin in the crease where they meet your ribs. His hands enclose them completely, with room to spare and they’re so warm. You’re alternately turned on and then feeling nurtured and then back again. The second orgasm Steve is pulling out of you isn’t helping your complete lack of equilibrium as Bucky licks a line up your neck and murmurs to you about how beautiful you are when you come. How he wants to see it again, how your skin heats up like a furnace.
Then Steve moves over you to push inside, but he pauses, looking at you and Bucky. “Would you…” he looks at him and then at you again, “do you want Bucky to fuck you?”
The awareness that you were lying here, between these two men and that there was going to be sex involved made you freeze for a moment, and behind you, you could feel Bucky’s body stiffen, too. Carefully extricating yourself from Steve’s long grasp, you turned around to straddle Bucky, running your fingers through his lovely, long hair.
“I would love to fuck Bucky.”
He grins up at you with that shameless smirk of his, one hand sliding to your hip, the other holding his cock up. You don’t look down. You’re already certain that he’s as huge as Steve, and you don’t want to psyche yourself out of this little game you’re all playing, so you plant your lips on his luscious ones and he kisses you, helping you slide down the length of his cock. Every time you’re certain you’d reached the end of him, there was more, and the silky tip of him was pressing rather insistently against your cervix.
Seeing your slightly pinched expression, he laughs and grabs the back of your neck, pulling you down again for a warm, slow kiss. “You tell me when you’re ready.”
There’s a warmth against your back and Steve’s hand snakes around as he puts two fingers on your clitoris, gently circling it over and over until you feel your slick making his fingers slide around, sloppy and stroking between your lips, stroking your strained flesh gripping Bucky’s cock and moving up again to gather more on his fingertips.
“You look so perfect, sweetheart, so gorgeous straddling his cock, your nipples are tight, and you’re gasping for breath. So fucking beautiful.”
Your hips move at the same speed as Steve’s fingers, circling and squeezing Bucky until he’s groaning like someone just shot him in the leg. “You’re terrorizing my dick, rolling your hips like that,” he wheezes, and you laugh, moving your hips counter-clockwise this time.
His sculpted thighs tense as he pushes them up, nearly bouncing you off your perch on his cock, grinding against you, slowly rotating to rub against your clit, making your heartbeat abruptly speed up and you manage to gasp out, “Please, g- go ahead, I’m ready.”
Was that a triumphant grin on his gorgeous face? That self-satisfied son of a bitch! Lifting you off his cock, you both feel the pull of your center against it, reluctantly releasing from him inside you with a lewd ‘pop!’
“Lie down, Stevie.”
Your blond giant does as Bucky asks, laying back and reaching up to center you over his cock. What the-? You thought nervously, “Is this some scary sharing thing that will freak me out and-”
“Ohhhh, my god.” Your voice is deep and guttural and so unlike you, but Steve is sliding your pussy against his cock, it’s slick and shining and you know that’s from you as your lips spread around him, your sensitive nub bumping against the head of his cock with each pass. This time, Bucky straddles his legs from behind and kisses you between your shoulder blades.
“I want to be back inside you, doll.” He bites your shoulder, hard enough to make you jump a little. “Are you okay?”
Your brain is still with your pussy, which is sliding along Steve’s glistening cock, so you nod vigorously, trying to communicate that yes indeed, you would like that. You all pause for a moment as he pushes back inside you, trying to go slow, but you’re guessing by his white knuckles that’s easier said than done.
“That’s it, doll,” Bucky whispers in your ear like the little devil he is, “open up. Let me in.”
You’re pressed between these two huge, beautiful men, sweating from their combined heat but not even noticing because everything outside the motions of the three of you no longer exists. Wet slicks, along your thighs and theirs, you’re lightly sucking on Steve’s nipples and he gives an involuntary bucking up of his hips, which presses your clit hard against him and you come, squeezing against Bucky, who swears loudly, pushing his feet against the foot of the bed to stay inside you.
“I’m not coming,” he groans, “this feels too good! Stop riling her up with your magical dick!”
And you all start laughing, everything pushing and squeezing and slicking over other things. You all come together, Steve’s warmth shooting up between you, all the way to your breasts. Bucky growling and biting down on your shoulder as his cock swells impossibly larger and his heat bathes you. Your last orgasm squeezes him tightly enough to hold him inside.
There’s perfect, blissful almost-silence for a moment, the soft sound of the waves against the sand, a plaintive seagull, and the gasps from the three of you, trying to catch your breath.
Finally, Steve sighs, “We gotta get up. If Tony parallels and finds us like this, he will never let us live it down.”
“Really?” you ask teasingly, resting your chin on his chest, Bucky’s weight heavy on your back and feeling perfect. “There’s actually something that makes Stern Steve Rogers shy?”
He puts a forearm over his eyes, it’s perfectly muscled and sun-bronzed. “You don’t know Tony, he’s just such a-”
“I don’t,” you said, suddenly sad. “Not really. By the time he made it back to Earth, he was in terrible shape. He didn’t mentally have room to handle more people, that’s what Pepper told me.”
They were silent, Steve’s thumb rubbing your cheek, and Bucky’s fingers threading through your tangled hair.
“Is your Tony not as… I dunno, not as fragile?”
“He’s kind of a bastard,” Bucky says thoughtfully.
It’s not like you can help it, bursting into laughter. “Pot, meet kettle.”
Then, they’re laughing, and all that slipping around makes them hard again and this time, they find a new way to worship you, Steve pounding inside you and Bucky giving you his dirty talk.
“I want to help!”
“Honey, I know you do.” Steve rubs your arms, “But this is all demolition. No one’s ever tried to destroy the Tesseract, it seems insane even thinking about it. And the quantum physics needed to implode the vortex, Bucky and Tony have to do this right.”
You’re thinking, a frown settling between your eyebrows. “I’m sure Tony has the right calculations for the other side, but did you allow for the .05% differential on this side?”
“Goddamnit,” groaned Bucky, “this shit is going to kill us, I swear.”
“It just might!” Steve snarled, “So stop joking around, this isn’t funny.”
“Okay, both of you stop, I’m squished between you again but this time it is not enjoyable.” You blew an errant bit of hair off your face. “Do you want to check with Tony or have me work the sequence code?”
No one is smiling now. This is a life-altering decision for not just one, but two Earths. And even with the Snap, yours has no fucking idea what was about to hit it if anything goes wrong.
Putting his hands behind his head and pacing, Steve said, “Let me contact Banner, he communicated with Tony last. Natasha and Tony are paralleling, I can’t reach them.”
You had been so disgusted with Dr. Banner, but knowing he wasn’t your Dr. Banner made it seem less of a betrayal when he refused to help you. This was all too confusing to hold a grudge.
The three of you paced, passing by each other and staring at the sunset. When it was time, Steve said, “Please stay here. Not because we want to keep you out of danger, because if something goes wrong with either of us - if Tony and Natasha can’t cross - it’s you. You’re our failsafe.”
You latched on to him, holding his beautiful face and kissing him fiercely. “Nothing will go wrong. You’re Steve and Bucky.” Turning to Bucky, you attacked him with the same zeal. “You both come back. Okay?” They cross the white sand beach and melt into the treeline, disappearing from view.
“Okay, okay, okay…” You’re mumbling to yourself, repeating all your instructions to keep from screaming. “If Bucky and Natasha don't come back, I have to set off the secondary particle accelerator. If Steve and Tony don’t come back, I… Oh, fuck.” Sitting down abruptly on the stone floor of the terrace, you stare out at the waves, made bloody by the crimson rays of the setting sun. It felt like the worst of bad omens. You were terrified of that stone hollow behind the waterfall, of the giant, eerie gemstones and that giant one squatting in the back of the cave like a particularly malevolent spider. The Infinity Stones here were something of incalculable power. They nearly killed Banner, even in his Hulk stage. They had killed Tony. The Tony from here.
“Fuck this is so confusing!” You’re shrieking up at the early stars, seagulls who stare at you disapprovingly.
You can feel it when the vortex is collapsing, the hum, that fucking hum that made the fillings in your teeth rattle, the hum that made you want to weep tears of blood- it gets stronger, and more shrill and then deeper and soon the stones of the terrace are rattling and you’re fucking terrified. Curling up with your hands over your ears, you rock back and forth desperately praying it’ll be over soon.
“...Sweet..rt…you… th..e …ple…” It’s Steve on the two-way radio, the static obscuring every other word.
Seizing the device, you press the button, “I’m here, I’m here, Steve are you okay?”
“...S… no… wor…ng…need …y…”
Oh, fuck oh fuck oh fuck… you think, delirious with terror. “I’m here,” you wheeze, “I’m coming!”
You’re flying across the sand, bare feet pounding and going faster than you can believe it, but that’s what acute terror and fear for your loved one’s life can do to you. You realize what you just said; love. I’ll think about that later, you nod, I’ll just put that on the back burner because I’m probably going to die right now.
Scrambling up the rocks, you can see the wild rotation of the light inside, oscillating from green to blue and back again, and then most concerningly, a sickly yellow, like something diseased and dripping pus. Scooting around the waterfall, you nearly scream as you trip over something. That something is Tony- the other Tony and his skin is sheet-white and there’s red sores blooming all over his face and hands, blood dripping from his ear.
‘Where’s Steve!” You put your hand under his head, trying to lift it. Another pulse of light shoots through the cavern and Tony screams soundlessly. His fingers are trembling, trying to point, and you see Steve.
His massive body looks like it’s… oh, fuck, like it’s bubbling? Parts are bulging, others are collapsing in and the red sores are blooming like malignant flowers on his skin. He’s still trying to reflect the nauseating glow of the Tesseract with gems he’s torn from the stone ceiling, and he collapses to his knees as you run over, sapphires dropping from his slack fingers.
“Steve, oh fuck honey, Steve what do I do?”
His eyes are swollen, so bloodshot the blue is gone, he tries to tell you, he tries but his eyes roll back and close with a terrifying finality.
You always operated better from fury than fear, or heartbreak.
“You motherfucker!” You scream at the square monstrosity, immovable and unharmed, feeling like it was waiting for you. “Fuck you, man! You need to go, you fucking asshole! You don’t belong here!” Mindlessly seizing precious stones from the rock, you throw them impotently at the cube, screaming your lungs out. You don’t seem to be getting torn up like the men were, and you hurl the sapphires with all your strength.
There’s a crack in the corner of the Tesseract, just a little one but the colors start rotating faster.
“A crack…” you wheeze as it feels like a goddamn lightbulb just lit up your terrified brain. “Fuck you and everything about you!” You’re prying out the biggest sapphires, ignoring your bleeding fingers and hurling them, one after another hitting the cube over and over, getting closer than you ever thought you’d be brave enough to do, gathering more and hitting it again, there’s more cracks now and the yellowish, sickly light is dripping - it looks like it’s dripping but not like liquid but at this point you have no fucking idea because you’re still screaming and throwing sapphires the size of your fist until the cracks in the Tesseract all glow with the monstrous yellow light and then the thing doesn’t explode all over the way you’d expect, it implodes - it squeezes inside itself and twists and folds until there’s nothing left.
But the spiteful little bitch does have a farewell “fuck you,” because chunks of rock are falling from the walls and the ceiling of the cave and a hand grabs you from behind.
Screaming, you whirl around with a chunk of sapphire held high to bludgeon whatever touched you but it’s Steve, and he looks so much better, like he’s healing right in front of you. And his mouth is moving.
“What?” you shout.
“WE HAVE TO GO NOW!” Steve’s shouting and you nod.
“Oh, okay.”
He slings one of Tony’s arms over his shoulder and the other over yours, and you all stagger out of the cave to find that the rock outcropping you use to climb is gone.
“I hope you can swim, Tony!” you shout, and you leap, still not knowing where you were going to land.
Natasha, ironically, is nice. Nicer in certain ways that this Earth’s Natasha wasn’t, but you had, and have a little girl crush going for both of them, then and now.
“Are you absorbing all of this?” Her red hair is glowing in the moonlight, her head tilted curiously.
“Yeah, I…” you shake your head, “no. I’m so freaked out that I can’t begin to put all the pieces together in the right order, but…”
You’re showered and clean, like Steve and Tony, who are both deeply asleep. Natasha examined them impassively and told you they’d be fine in the morning.
Bucky was showering now, and you could hear him singing.
“That fucking lunatic is singing?” Shaking your head, you marveled at his sheer insouciance. “Singing. After the vortex murder thing and how you two still have teeth left in your mouth I do not know.”
She chuckled, but the smile slipped from her lovely face. ‘Tony was so excited about your Thermite formula. Do you think it worked?”
Sipping from your wine glass, you nodded. “I think so. I believe it will. It was just right. That flame can chase those fuckers wherever they try to burrow.”
“Good,” she says with a savage sort of satisfaction.
“Why didn’t the Tesseract try to kill me the way it took down Tony and Steve?” You were still mulling that one over. You… and one of the most terrifying sources of power and you killed it by throwing stuff at it?
“I think I know.” Bucky plopped down next to you in only his towel, drops of water dripping off his broad chest. He threw an arm over your shoulder and Natasha rolled her eyes.
“I knew it. You are just-”
“Wait,” you held your hand up. “Bucky, finish what you were saying.”
“The Tesseract - our Tesseract, anyway - isn’t from here, and maybe that protected you. But I think you were the only one from either world who could have destroyed it.”
Your brow furrowed, “Why me?”
“You were the failsafe, doll,” he smiled tenderly at you. “You were our living, breathing failsafe, the only human who didn’t have a match on our Earth. You were the only thing not mirrored on our Earth.”
“I’ll be damned,” mused Natasha, “you are absolutely right.”
There’s some kind of alarm you haven’t heard before that’s suddenly shrieking at a really annoying intensity.
“What the fuck is that!” Shooting out of your deck chair, you turn in a circle. “Could the entities have found a new way in? Oh, fuck!”
“She says fuck a lot when she’s anxious,” Bucky explains to Natasha, who nods wisely. “Doll, it’s a perimeter alarm. Someone’s landed on the island.”
You sigh. “Fury. Has to be.”
You’re correct, and when Director Fury comes raging over the sand with a complement of operatives, you’re the only one standing on the terrace. “He will so shoot you at first glance,” you’d persuaded Bucky. “And he knows our Natasha is gone. Let me sort this out.”
Surprisingly, Bucky agrees with you and pulls Natasha inside the house.
“Finally!” Fury shouts at you. One might think he was ready to shoot you, but you knew this was his relieved shouting. “What the fuck is going on here!”
“Director, welcome to Half Moon Key,” you say, feeling sympathetic over his utter confusion. “Come and sit down, please. We have a lot to talk about.”
Alerting mutuals who I think might be interested, please let me know if you’d like on or off this list. Thank you!

Assemble
Chapter 4
Pairing- Loki x Reader x Steve (one side)
Warning- cursing
Your thoughts and other characters are in italics.
Flashback in Bold.
Back on the Helicarrier in Bruce’s lad. Y/n knocks on the door. “Y/n come in.”
Y/n walks into the room and looks around at all the equipment.
“Your call on the spectrometers... how did you know that would work?” Bruce wondered.
“Well we’re trying to find the Tesseract and it gives off a certain type of energy which can be read as a frequency hence why I said spectrometers.” Y/n explained. “I just wanted to let you know that if you need any help I’m here.”
“Well two heads are better then one.”
Y/n walks over to the chair across from Bruce.
As soon as Y/n sits down she gets pulled into Bruce’s mind.
“HULK… SMASH!!” The Incredible Hulk roused as he smashes the ground making it crack open.
“I’m so sorry I knew about your friend but I didn’t know it was that bad.” Y/n announced.
“So you’ve done research on me?” Bruce queried
“Not for the reasons you’re thinking your memories just told me.” Y/n told Bruce.
“My memories?”
“I can read minds and when I sat down I saw an Image of you know who.”
“Voldemort.”
“What no The Hulk.” Y/n stated.
“Oh that guy.” Bruce dryly.
“I know what it’s like to have apart of you that you can’t control.” Y/n disclosed.
“You do?” Bruce curious tone.
“Ya afraid if you let your emotions get the best of you it’s game over but I have faith you Bruce.” Y/n said Optimistically.
“Really?”
“I just through away the only source that can help me control my powers. In three hours my full powers are coming back if I believe I can control them. Then I believe you can control him.” Bruce smiles as Y/n opens one of The files on the desk. “I’m not saying it’s gonna happen right off bat it’s gonna take some time.” Y/n finished.

“Natasha watches the skies. Thunder. Coming out of nowhere. Fury speaks over her headset.
“Said anything?”
“Not a word.” Natasha replied.
“Just get him here. We're low on time.” Nick ordered.
With Loki tied up and cuffed to his seat, Tony and Steve watch from a distance, whispering. “I don't like it.”
“What? Rock of Ages giving up so easily?” Tony supposed.
“I don't remember it being ever that easy. This guy packs a wallop.” Steve remarked.
“Still, you are pretty spry, for an older fellow. What's your thing? Pilates?” Tony wondered.
“What?”
“It's like calisthenics. You might have missed a couple things, you know, doing time as a Capsicle.”
Steve looks at Tony, finally meeting his ego match. “Fury didn't tell me he was calling you in.”
“Yeah, there's a lot of things Fury doesn't tell you.”
Thunder and Lightning nearly hit the jet, making it shake violently.
“Where's this coming from?” Natasha mumbled to herself.
Thunder rumbles overhead. Loki stares out the window intently.
“What's the matter? Scared of a little lightning?” Steve teased.
“I'm not overly fond of what follows.” Loki answered.
Outside the jet a blinding light hits the jet. Not a light. The Mighty Thor. Thor open the ramp and grabs Loki by the throat and flies out. Steve and Tony are left dumbstruck. Tony puts the Iron Man helmet on.
“Now there's that guy.” Tony said with a sigh of irritation
“Another Asgardian?” Natasha wondered.
“Think the guy's a friendly?” Steve asked.
“Doesn't matter. If he frees Loki or kills him, the Tesseract's lost.” Tony turns and gets ready to jump off the jet to chase after Thor.
“Stark, we need a plan of attack!” Steve protested.
“l have a plan. Attack.” Tony jumps out of the jet and chases after Thor. Cap grabs a parachute to follow.
“I'd sit this one out, Cap.” Natasha insisted.
“I don't see how I can.” Steve replied.
“These guys come from legends, they're basically gods.”
“There's only one God, ma'am. And I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that.” Cap jumps out of the jet.

Somewhere out in the European mountains, Thor throws Loki into the side of the mountain. He raises the mighty hammer, Mjölnir. He looks down at his brother, who he thought to be dead and is angry to see him alive in this fashion.
“Where is the Tesseract?” Thor demanded.
“I missed you too.” Loki laughed.
“Do I look to be in a gaming mood?!” Thor snapped.
“Oh, you should thank me. With the Bifrost gone how much dark energy did the Allfather have to muster to conjure you here? Your precious Earth.” Loki scoffed.
Thor drops Mjölnir, causing the mountain to quake. He picks up Loki. His brother. Although Thor is pissed for what he has done, a family is everything to a man or god. “I thought you dead.”
“Did you mourn?”
“We all did. Our father...”
“Your father. He did tell you my true parentage, did he not?”
Thor lets go Loki, who walks away from Thor, causing an even bigger wedge between them.
“We were raised together, we played together, we fought together. Do you remember none of that?”
Loki turns around. “I remember a shadow. Living in the shade of your greatness. I remember you tossing me into an abyss. I was and should be king!”
“So you take the world I love as recompense for your imagined slights. No, the Earth is under my protection, Loki.” Thor declared.
Loki laughs “And you’re doing a marvelous job with that. The humans slaughter each other in droves, while you idly threat. I mean to rule them. And why should I not?”
“You think yourself above them?” Thor asked.
“Well, yes.” Loki said in a casual tone.
“Even if your love was here. You think yourself above her.”
Loki stops walking away from Thor. “I do not know what you speak of.”
“Mother told me what she did for you. She gave you a love someone who will be there for you and love you forever come home brother we can find her together.” Thor said Sincerely.
“I already found her. She’s here you know of her....she helped fight The Destroyer.” Loki stated.
”Y/n.”
“Do you think I came here because of your love of Earth....we well rule over all humanity and there will be nothing you can do about it.” Loki said with fire and determination.
“Then you miss the truth of ruling, brother. Throne would suit you ill.” Thor disclosed.
Angrily, Loki shoves his brother to the side. He walks back up to the ledge. Turns around. “I've seen worlds you've never known about! I have grown, Odinson, in my exile! I have seen the true power of the Tesseract, and when I wield it...”
“Who showed you this power? Who controls the would-be-king?” Thor queried.
“I am a king!” Loki swore loudly.
“Not here! You give up the Tesseract! You give up this poisonous dream! You come home.” Thor said trying to reason with Loki.
“I don’t have it. You need the cube to bring me home, but I've sent it off I know not where.” Loki grinned.
Mjölnir flies back to his grasp. “You listen well, brother. I...”
Thor is Knocked off the Mountain by Iron Man who tackles him in mid-flight.
“I'm listening.” Loki mocked.
○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○
Thor and Iron Man crash into the forest. Thor rolls himself up. Iron Man is still standing, but keeps his distance. The helmet opens up.
“Do not touch me again!” Thor growled.
“Then don't take my stuff.” Tony stated.
“You have no idea what you're dealing with.” Thor began.
“Shakespeare in the park? Doth mother know you weareth her drapes?” Tony mocked.
“This is beyond you, metal man. Loki will face Asgardian justice!” Thor explained.
“He gives up the Cube, he's all yours. Until then, stay out of my way... tourist.” The Iron Man helmet clamps and he walks away. In one quick move, Thor pulls Mjölnir, throws it, and Knocks Iron Man clear across into a tree.
“Okay.” Tony scoffed.
From the mountain side, Loki watches in amusement. Thor raises his hand. Mjölnir flies back to his hand. Thor swings the hammer, summoning a ray of energy. Iron Man stands up and from his hand boosters, a blast of energy Knocks The mighty Avenger on his ass. Iron Man flies back up and knocks Thor into a tree. Thor, kneeling on the ground, pulls Mjölnir to his hand, raises it to the skies and pulls in Lightning and Thunder. Thor points the hammer at Iron Man and the outpouring of bolts lighting increases in intensity. Iron Man falls back.
“Power at 400% capacity.” Jarvis informed Tony.
“How about that?” Tony grinned.
Iron Man flies away from his hand boosters, pushing Thor to his knees. Like two gunslingers ready to draw, both Thor and Iron Man fly towards each other and meet in the middle and ascend up.
The two battle. Iron Man grasps Thor, elbowing him and smashing him into the side of a mountain. Thor leaps off the mountain and takes Iron Man with him.
Thor and Iron Man crash right back down, smashing down every tree possible. Iron Man yanks Thor right up. Thor grabs both hands boosters and begins to crush them. Tony quickly chargers as much energy as he can and shoots energy in Thor’s face. Thor falls back, losing his stance. Iron Man headbutts Thor, with his gold-titanium alloy helmet. Thor... headbutts him back in head and actually sends Iron Man across the forest. Iron Man boosters up and flies back at Thor, grabbing him by the arm and cape and swings him into another tree. Thor looks up, ready. Thor runs with all his patience out the window. Iron Man swings and misses, giving Thor the momentum to grab him, lift him and smash him down hard. Thor summons back Mjölnir to his hand. Just as he's about to put the hammer down, Iron Man uses his hand boosters to skid across the ground and trip Thor over. Standing up, Thor looks for him, but from behind him, Iron Man crashers into his back. Thor stands facing Iron Man. Ready to pounce... Captain America’s shield ricochets off both Thor and Iron Man, stopping them.
They look up and see Captain America standing on top of a fallen tree with the shield back in hand. “That's enough!”Steve said coming down looks at Thor. “Now, I don't know what you plan on doing here.”
“I've come here to put an end to Loki's schemes!” Thor answered.
“Then prove it! Put the hammer down.” Steve voiced.
“Um, yeah, no! Bad call! He loves his hammer!” Tony provoked.
Thor backhands Iron Man with Mjölnir. Thor, losing all tolerance with this sentential of liberty, raises the hammer. “You want me to put the hammer down?”
Thor leaps high into the air raising Mjölnir. Captain America crutches down holding up his shield.Sure bring the hammer down onto the shop with a massive. Implosion of light reacts to the Vibranium shield creates a massive shockwave that blows up anything within a mile.
IronMan stands up, looking around like `holy shit.' Lying right next to him is Cap.
“Are we done here?” Steve asked.
Captain America,Iron Man, and Thor just stand there.

As Bruce and Y/n are working in his lab as Loki walks down being guarded by men and when he looks into the room he catches Y/n’s face he was shocked but he covered it well. Banner stops working on the scepter and looks up. Loki eyes him as he walks, nodding and smiling. Bruce rubs his head.
“Hey Bruce you ok?” Y/n asked.
when Y/n finally looks up at what Bruce was look at she see him. Everything slows down and she can only see him. She can hear her heartbeat as clear as day. She gets the sense of familiar like she’s known him her entire life and just haven’t seen him in a while. Even though she’s just seeing him for the first time. Every nerve in her body has a awaken and she feels a different form of electricity go through her. She feels like like the world hell the universe is pulling her towards him she doesn’t understand why.

Loki is now free from his cuffs and is contained in a large glass cella held by hydraulic rigs. Fury walks up the control panel of the cell. “In case it's unclear. You try to escape. You so much as scratch that glass.” Fury presses a button which opens up a hatch underneath Loki’s cell.
Loki peers as much as he can from the glass. Without seeing, the sounds of gusting wind would make man shit his pants. Not a god, though of course. “Thirty thousand feet, straight down in a steel trap. You get how that works?!” Fury closes the hatch. Points at Loki. “Ant.” Then points at the button which would drop Loki into the steel trap. “Boot.” Nick finished
“It's an impressive cage. Not built, I think, for me.” Loki said smirking.
“Built for something a lot stronger than you.” Nick stated.
“Oh, I've heard.” Loki looks into the camera.
The others watch on the monitor Loki getting interrogated. Banner looks at the monitor, intently.
“The mindless beast, makes play he's still a man How desperate are you, that you call upon such lost creatures to defend you?”
“How desperate am I? You threaten my world with war. You steal a force you can't hope to control.” Nick Started. “You talk about peace and you kill `cause it's fun. You have made me very desperate. You might not be glad that you did.”
“Ooh. It burns you to come so close. To have the Tesseract, to have power, unlimited power. And for what? A warm light for all mankind to share, and then to be reminded what real power is.” Loki disclosed.
“Well, you let me know if Real Power wants a magazine or something.” Nick said smiling about to walk out the room but Loki voice stopes him.”
“Humans often over look when real power is standing in front of them” Loki said looking into the camera. “And what marvelous power she has such shame you keep a breathtaking creature like that locked up.”
Fury walks off leaving Loki in his glass cell. Loki looks back at the camera, smirking.
Y/n is watching the interrogation from Bruce’s lab.
Bold I’ll give him that.
○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○
Steve watches until the monitor goes black. Thor, who didn't even look, just listened, stands there, torn apart. They all just stand there in stunned silence. Finally --“He really grows on you, doesn't he?”
“Loki's gonna drag this out. So, Thor, what's his play?” Steve asked.
“He has an army called the Chitauri. They're not of Asgard or any world known. He means to lead them against your people. They will win him the earth. In return, I suspect, for the Tesseract.” Thor explained.
“An army? From outer space?” Steve inquired.
○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○
Y/n walks out of Bruce’s lab and head towards the bridge lost in her thoughts on how Loki knows so much about her and why is every fiber of her being telling her to go to his cell. Just thinking about the way he look at her makes her smile makes her feel flushed. Not realizing that she made her way to the bridge when she looks up she instantly smiles even more.
“Thor?!!”
“Y/n?!!”
Without hesitating Y/n runs and hugs Thor. He then picks her up and twirls her around in excitement.
“Y/n! I did not know you would be here.” Thor proclaimed happily.
“I didn’t know you would be here I thought the bifost was destroy.” Y/n told Thor happy to to her friend.
“It was my father summoned all his power to get me here.” Thor shared.
Agent Hill and the other look at Y/n with confusion. “Am I missing something? How to you tow know each other?” Agent Hill questioned.
“I met Thor in New Mexico. I helped him fight the destroyer.” Y/n grinned.
“Does Director Fury know about this?” Agent Hill asked.
“Of course I wouldn’t dare keep secrets from the Director. But what’s going on with Loki why is he here this time.”
He’s here because of you. Thor thought
Y/n looks at Thor shocked. “What?!”
“He’s building another portal. That's what he needs Erik Selvig for.”
“Selvig?” Thor asked.
“Erik? ....why was Erik working with Shield?”Y/n asked Agent Hill.
“He's an astrophysicist.” Bruce answered.
“He's a friend.” Thor stated.
“Loki has him under some kind of spell, along with one of ours.” Natasha informed the others but mumbling the last bit.
“I wanna know why Loki let us take him. He's not leading an army from here.” Steve disclosed.
“Steve right there’s something here that Loki wants.” Y/n agreed.
“I don't think we should be focusing on Loki. That guy's brain is a bag full of cats, you could smell crazy on him.” Bruce voiced.
“Have care how you speak. Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard, and he's my brother.” Thor declared.
“He killed eighty people in two days.” Natasha commented.
“He's adopted.” Thor disclosed.
“Iridium, what did they need the Iridium for?” Bruce asked.
“The It's a stabilizing agent.” Tony answered Bruce’s question as he is walking in with Coulson. “I'll fly you there. Keep the love alive. Means the portal won't collapse on itself, like it did at Shield.” Tony walks over to Thor and hits his bicep. “No hard feelings, Point Break. You've got a mean swing.”
“Also, it means the portal can open as wide, and stay open as long, as Loki wants. Uh, raise the mid-mast, ship the top sails. That man is playing GALAGA! Thought we wouldn't notice. But we did.” Tony covering his eye, looks around. “How does Fury do this?” Tony asked.
“He turns.” Agent Hill answered.
Tony looks around the monitors and places a button size hacking implant under Fury's desk, without anyone noticing. “That sounds exhausting. The rest of the raw materials, Agent Barton can get his hands on pretty easily. Only major component he still needs is a power source. A high energy density, something to kick start the cube.” Tony explained.
“When did you become an expert in thermonuclear astrophysics?” Agent Hill queried.
“Last night. The packet, Selvig's notes, the Extraction Theory papers. Am I the only one who did the reading?” Tony wondered.
“Does Loki need any particular kind of power source?” Steve questioned.
“Erik got to heat the cube to a hundredand twenty million Kelvin just to break through the Coulomb barrier.” Y/n answered out loud.
“Unless, Selvig has figured out how to stabilize the quantum tunneling effect.” Tony replied.
“Well, if he could do that he could achieve Heavy Ion Fusion at any reactor on the planet.” Bruce explained.
“Finally, someone who speaks English.” Tony grinned.
“Is that what just happened?” Steve questioned.
Tony and Banner shake hands. A glimmer in their eyes shines as the mutual respect for each other shows.
“It's good to meet you, Dr. Banner. You're work on anti-electron collisions is unparalleled. And I'm a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster.” Tony remarked.
Bruce looks down. “Thanks.”
Nick Fury walks on to the bridge. “Dr. Banner is only here to track the cube. I was hoping you might join him.”
“Let's start with that stick of his. It may be magical, but it works an awful lot like a HYDRA weapon.” Steve pointed out.
“I don't know about that, but it is powered by the cube. And I'd like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys.” Nick disclosed.
“Monkeys? I do not understand.” Thor said confused.
“Don’t worry I’ll explain it to you later.” Y/n whispered to Thor.
“I do! I understood that reference.” Steve exclaimed.
Tony rolls his eyes, while Cap looks proud of himself. “Shall we play, doctor?”
“Let's play some.” As Banner and Tony walk out, the Galaga player turns ever so discreetly, watches as everyone else disperses and goes back to playing.
○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○
Banner continuously scans with a gamma ray detection scanner on the scepter for radiation. Tony looks at his monitors, shifting and solving as many algorithms and equations.
“We didn’t get a chance to formally meet I’m Y/n Munroe.” Y/n said holding out her hand for Tony to shake.
“Tony Stark.”Tony shakes Y/n’s hand.
Tony have surgery and screaming. Tony wakes up suddenly with a tube up his nose, laying on a cot in a cave. He rips out the tube and tries to pick up a cup on the table beside him, but fails. He notices a man shaving and tries to reach further but is stopped by wires.
“I wouldn't do that if I were you.” Yinsen stated.
Tony realizes that he's connected to a battery. He rips off the bandages over his chest to see an electromagnet inside his chest.
“That’s how it happened.” Y/n mumbled.
But Tony heard clear as day. “What happened?”
“Um nothing.” Y/n said walking over to Bruce.
“You didn’t tell me you knew Erik Selvig.”
“Oh ya I met him years back when I was 17 I was his assistant after I got my PhD.” Y/n explained
“You have a PhD?” Bruce asked.
“Ya I don’t really talk about.”
“Don’t like being the smartest person in the room.” Bruce observed.
“Exactly.” Y/n said sitting down in a chair.
After a moment the computer that this is working on starts to beep.
“The gamma readings are definitely consistent with Selvig’s reports on the Tesseract. But it's gonna take weeks to process.” Bruce told Y/n and Tony.
“If we bypass their mainframe and direct a reroute to the Homer cluster, we can clock this around six hundred teraflops.” Tony explained
“All I packed was a tooth brush.” Bruce commented.
“You know, you two should come by Stark Towers sometime. Top ten floors, all R&D. You'd love it, it's candy land.” Tony said with a smile.
“Thanks, but the last time I was in New York I kind of broke...Harlem.” Bruce shared.
“I live here and I broke Harlem...I caused a black out and a state wide earthquake.” Y/n confessed.
“That was you?!!” Bruce exclaimed.
“I heard about that what the hell happened?” Tony wondered.
“I had a nightmare.” Y/n replied.
“Your kidding me.” Tony claimed.
“I kid you not.” Y/n answered.
“Well, I promise a stress free environment. No tension. No surprises.” Tony grinned.
“Oh no Tony don’t....”
Tony pokes Banner with a miniature electrical prod. “OW!” Tony looks at Banner closely.
Steve walks in on them, pissed at Tony. “Hey!”
“Nothing?” Tony questioned.
“Are you nuts?” Steve asked angrily.
“You really have got a lid on it, haven't you? What's your secret? Mellow jazz? Bongo drums? Huge bag of weed?” Tony asked calmly.
Y/n laughs.
“Is everything a joke to you?” Steve wondered.
“Funny things are.” Tony remarked.
“Threatening the safety of everyone on this ship isn't funny. No offense, doctor.” Steve made known.
“No, it's alright. I wouldn't have come aboard if I couldn't handle pointy things.” Bruce implied.
“You're tiptoeing, big man. You need to strut.” Tony chuckled.
“And you need to focus on the problem, Mr. Stark.” Steve stressed.
“You think I'm not? Why did Fury call us and why now? Why not before? What isn't he telling us? I can't do the equation unless I have all the variables.” Tony explained.
“I agree with Tony I know Erik and I know how he feels about Shield he would’ve wanted someone familiar to be here with him.....I should’ve been here with him.” Y/n disclosed.
“You think Fury’s hiding something?” Steve questioned.
“Of course he is I should’ve been here helping Erik but I wasn’t because he knows I can read minds. I would read his mind and find out what he’s really doing.” Y/n mumbled.
“He’s a spy. Captain, he’s the spy. His secrets have secrets.” Tony said then points over to Bruce. “It’s bugging him too, isn’t it?”
“Uh...I just wanna finish my work here and...” Bruce stuttered.
“Doctor?” Steve asked.
“'A warm light for all mankind,’ Loki's jab at Fury about the cube.” Bruce started.
“I heard it.”
Bruce points at Tony. “Well, I think that was meant for you. Even if Barton didn't post that all over the news.”
“The Stark Tower? That big ugly.” Tony gives him a look. “...building in New York?”
“Isn’t It's powered by Stark Reactors, self- sustaining energy source. That building will run itself for what, a year?” Y/n asked.
“That's just the prototype. I'm kind of the only name in clean energy right now.” Tony commented.
“So, why didn't Shield bring him in on the Tesseract project? I mean, what are they doing in the energy business in the first place?” Bruce explained.
“I should probably look into that once my decryption programmer finishes breaking into all of Shield's secure files.” Tony replied.
“I’m sorry, did you say...?” Steve trailed off
“Your looking through all the Shield files.” Y/n said astonished.
“Jarvis has been running it since I hit the bridge. In a few hours we'll know every dirty secret Shield has ever tried to hide.” Tony said holds out a bag of blueberries. “Blueberry?”
Y/n takes a blueberry. “I need to file or two from him anyways.”
“Yet you’re confused about why they didn’t want you around?” Steve remarked.
“An intelligence organization that fears intelligence? Historically, not possible.” Tony pointed out.
“I think Loki's trying to wind us up. This is a man who means to start a war, and if don't stay focused, he'll succeed. We have orders, we should follow them.” Steve told Tony.
“Following is not really my style.” Tony grinned.
“And you're all about style, aren't you?” Steve said with a sarcastic smile.
“Of the people in this room, which one is; A. wearing a spangly outfit, and B. not of use?” Tony mocked.
“Steve, tell me none of this smells a little funky to you?” Bruce chimed in.
Steve takes in the possibility, but as an obedient soldier, shakes it off.
“Just find the cube.” Steve walks out of the lab. Still torn apart by the possibility, he walks away, towards the hull of the ship.
“I’ll talk to him.” Y/n announced.
“You can try he looks like the snitching type.” Tony disclosed.
Y/n rushes out of the lab to find Steve. “Steve.”
Steve stops in his track. “You agree with him you think what he’s doing is OK.”
“I need information on someone and I know Nick fury‘s not gonna give it to me. It’s the only way I can know for sure.” Y/n stated.
“That question you asked Coulson.” Steve reported.
“Ya. I know what you’re about to do.” Y/n announced. “I know you wanna get answers just as well as I do now go get them.” With one last look Steve walks away. While Y/n heads towards the cell where they’re keeping Loki.

Heyo folks! I’ve had a lot of time on my hands today, (And thank you all for your kind words!! :0) So I decided to finally post about yet ANOTHER story I’ve been working on! I know, there are a lot, just bare with me here
This is for one of my first ever graphic novel/comic projects, “Tesseract”. I’ve been wanting to post my sketches for a while now, but didn’t want to confuse and jumble everyone with all the stories I’ve already posted about. BUUUUT the urge to post about it today won :) So now I can finally ramble and infodump about it!
It’s about (Unsurprisingly) The concept of a Tesseract. And the fourth/fifth dimension and frequencies in general! I’m not gonna go all the way into how it works here, cuz that’s in the story already and also I can make an entirely different post later solely for explaining that if you folks would like! There’s just NO WAY I can fit ALL of this story in one text post, so I’ll just flesh out the basic premise and plot (kinda).
Anywho, there’s a facility called the “Ace Asylum and Research Center”. (AARC) The crest for it is on this lovely lad’s lab coat! Which represents each different dimension. This story takes place in 1960. The Beanpole of a man in the picture is Oliver! One of the protagonists of this story. He works at the facility (Which is based a lot on Portal actually). There are people who are kept at one of the MANY floors, just definitely not the top one, who are used for said research and experiments. Three of these people being kids (technically teenagers and one legal adult but oh well) and our other protagonists. Alice, Emmet, and Chip
After the effects of the latest experiment leaves their memories jumbled and forgotten, they all slowly follow the breadcrumbs left by ol’ science dad here, and help him take down this place. ’Cuz uuuuuuh yeah their practices aren’t exactly the most humane (Yes, he does ‘adopt’ them along the way. Wow, how surprising! /sarcasm). They go through different dimensions, frequencies, and floors of the facility. These four and their efforts to escape the facility are challenged by another doctor at the facility. Eva. She’s pretty much the boss of this place, and Oliver is/was her second in command as far as the AARC goes. Which makes their journey all the more difficult. She also leads one of the most dangerous experiments still taking place. It’s quite literally called “Hate” due to it’s low frequencies. Frequencies that can be generated from humans, and from an emotion called, you guessed it, “Hate”. It makes this weird black goopy substance that can kind of posses a person and bring out the worst in them. There’s an even greater source of all those negative emotions that produces the Hate-stuff and low frequencies in general, but that’s a seeeecret for now. ;)
As you can see on the image, moths and butterflies are a pretty constant theme in this. My brain said, “Oh! Butterfly effect stuff??” And just rolled with it.
It’s a story that messes with physics, dimensions, memories, time, and the fabric of reality itself. As well as more personal things, like emotions, trauma, and the concept of self as a whole! I can’t wait to share (most) of my sketches with y’all, since it’s about 10 years of story that’ve just been rattling around in my noggin, so things are subject to change of course! I have soooOOO many drawings and lil concepts for this story it’s INSANE. hence why I’m waiting to complete (Or at least get close to completing) My first two comics to get some experience under my belt before diving into this one.
(So sorry for the long ramble-y post, it’s a lot of S T U F F. I’ll flesh it out to y’all through those sketches and lil dumps, and answer any questions you folks have if you’d like!) Alrighty, have a wonderful day!
#to summarize#science dad adopts three test subjects that have already found out something’s not right and go to him for help#they also breath time and space on the way#as you do#Tesseract#Oliver Tesseract#Alice Tesseract#Emmet Tesseract#Chip Tesseract#wOW is there a lot of this story I couldn’t fit in here#hoOOOOO boy#It’s okay if that’s real confusing and not at all fleshed out now#I have pretty much everything explained and developed a whole lot better in the actual story and sketches#have a lovely day you lovely people!!!!!#*break time and space#not breath#I’m too lazy to go back and fix that :)

Lacuna Coil were the first metal band caught up in the pandemic. This is how they made it through
When COVID-19 forced Lacuna Coil to cancel shows in March, little did they know what was coming next. Singer Cristina Scabbia looks back on the most disorientating year of her life
Metal lived the COVID-19 emergency through Lacuna Coil before we lived it ourselves. In February, their homeland of Italy became the worst-hit in the world after China and South Korea, with case numbers rising rapidly every day. On March 1, Cristina Scabbia posted a patriotic photo of herself in a restaurant, hands in the prayer position, with the caption: ‘Italy is made of history, priceless art, great food culture, breathtaking landscapes and creativity and I am in LOVE with my beautiful country.’
The next day, Lacuna Coil cancelled shows in Dubai, Bangkok, Sydney, Melbourne, Tokyo, Osaka, Singapore and Jakarta, causing a backlash from some fans who didn’t understand the severity of the infection rate. For the band, it was a horrible shock and a disorientating time as the situation worsened. They were unable to leave their houses except to buy food.
“We went to South America for a tour, and when we came back, at the airport, they were taking our temperatures. We were like, ‘What’s going on?’ Because of course we’d heard news, but we didn’t really know what was going on in Italy,” remembers Cristina. “Within the week, they put us on lockdown because of the numbers of deaths, and people going to hospital in a very bad condition. It was absolutely surreal, because I’ve never experienced anything like this.”
They’d heard about COVID-19 spreading through China, but it seemed like something that was happening at a remove; something across the globe that wouldn’t have an immediate impact on their own lives.
“We were feeling lost, because there was no solution. There was a lot of confusion, because of course we didn’t know anything about this virus, and the hospitals were collapsing, and no other countries were going through this but China,” says Cristina. “So something that felt so far from us, in the news, was all of a sudden in our homes.”
We all know what happened next. Even as we watched Italy’s battle, it still felt localised, until tour cancellations increased in frequency and the UK went into its own lockdown on March 23, along with many other territories around the same time. Swathes of the music industry came to a grinding halt. By this point, Cristina was well into isolation and had come to terms with her new situation. The band were only five months into the cycle for ninth album Black Anima, and were frustrated at losing momentum. For her, the solution was to put music aside for a spell and turn her thoughts inwards.
“Some colleagues did some home recordings, but I didn’t want to connect music to this lockdown, because to me, this lockdown was something negative,” she explains. “I wanted to do something different. I said, ‘This is my chance to take some time for me. Not Cristina from Lacuna Coil, but just Cristina.”
Cristina set about doing the kind of pastimes that have since become lockdown clichés: making bread and pasta, gaming, exercising and drawing, as well as participating in some band-related Instagram Live chats – including a couple with Within Temptation’s Sharon del Adel and Lamb Of God’s Randy Blythe. For someone who often spends months on the road, and has been through a great deal of tragedy in the last few years (Black Anima touches on the breakdown of a previous relationship and the loss of her parents), it was chance to pause and exhale.
She signed up to Twitch, joining an emerging rockstar livestreaming community featuring the likes of Trivium’s Matt Heafy, Tesseract’s Dan Tompkins and Devin Townsend. She’s long been a gamer and one of metal’s most authentic internet personalities, always willing to share silly memes, post makeup-free selfies and share her innermost thoughts, so the move made sense for her, and she’s spent hours chatting to fans – not to mention unboxing gems like the none-more-metal Doom Eternal.
“When I was looking for an alternative to my usual socials, I thought that Twitch was the perfect platform for me. I am a talker, I am very spontaneous, I don’t really mind what people might think about me if I’m not perfect and dressed up,” she says. “And it is really exciting, because I took the chance to learn something new.”
Exercise has also become a priority; she began making a conscious effort to work out, following a cardio programme online. It initially calmed her COVID-19 anxiety, and has given her new strength and flexibility. When her lockdown birthday rolled around, she spoke publicly of her gratitude at being in good shape at the age of 48. She’s at pains, though, to stress that “it was not about losing weight, it was more about mobility” - after all, she’s a huge fan of her country’s incredible cuisine.
“I don’t want anybody to think that now I’m a pro athlete, and ‘Oh my god I’m working out every day. It’s just, something in between,” she says. “Do some movement, so this way you can be able to eat a pizza and not feel guilty, because you will not have to change the size of your pants!”
Thankfully, the future looks brighter than it did in March. Talking to us today from her boyfriend’s restaurant an hour north-west of Milan, where they have just finishing painting the ceiling, Cristina acknowledges her “very surreal break” but sounds optimistic about what comes next. Lacuna Coil might not have been making new music during this period, but they have been working on two top-secret things that will be revealed in due course.
“One of them will be a celebration that we’re thinking about next year, something very special,” Cristina says cryptically. “And one is supposed to happen this year, but I can’t spoil anything. But we’ll let you know!”

✧I Need You✧ Chapter 154
Every single part of you was screaming that this was the beginning of the end. The beginning of something terrible. Bruce couldn’t even look at you. JARVIS had been machining some sort of temporary housing for… whatever the hell had been inside that scepter compartment. And Tony had remained as distant as possible as he ran cleanup and made sure everyone stayed clear of the labs. Little accident he’d said, and promised everything was okay. You’d been relegated to sitting on a stool, holding a cloth against your nose to stem the flow of blood. Eventually the leak stopped.
Just as Tony stepped back in and closed the doors behind him. He stayed there, facing away, gathering himself. You allowed him a moment. Mostly because you weren’t entirely sure you wanted to hear what he had to say. But when he was finished, he walked down the steps. “Before we start...” Very promising, for sure. “Can you just try to walk me through what you were doing?”
With the scepter, he meant. Obviously. “I don’t know.” As honestly as you could. Even if the answer was unsatisfying. “I don’t wanna say something like it was calling to me but I guess it was something close.” And you’d answered whether you’d wanted to or not. And you really hadn’t. But that didn’t matter much now.
Bruce and Tony shared a look between each other. Telling. But then Bruce looked away, leaving Tony to figure out how he was going to say whatever it was he was going to say. And the longer he waited the more anxious you became. Until eventually he admitted- “I actually don’t know where to start.” It was very strange to see Tony so out of sorts. Struggling like this.
“Just tell me what’s going on.” Trying and failing to not get agitated. But his anxieties were working your own up. You didn’t like this. Whatever this was. “...please.”
He looked at you. Very, very briefly. But his eyes dropped after a few seconds. Guilt was wracking his entire being. Standing a little closer to Bruce, he pulled something up on one of the screens and then directed it into the air. Graphs. Data. Equations. With your name on them. You didn’t know what you were looking at. So you waited as patiently as possible for him to figure out how to talk.
And once he did, there was no going back.
“I don’t know how to quantify your powers. I never have. It’s not something that seems like I can break down no matter how much science I apply to it. But this-” He waved a hand over what you were starting to realize was a graph of dates. “-this I thought I could try to make sense out of. They’re- …” He sighed. Frustrated. “You have a unique gamma signature.”
He’d begun pacing around the room in slow, calculated movements. One step after the other. You stayed seated but watched him, and wrung your hands tightly together in your lap. Waiting more until he spoke again. “When you do whatever it is you do, you signal that pulse. It’s not radiation- you’re not leaking anything- at least not anything dangerous- it’s more like an identifier. I tried tests on Steve and he comes out clean. Thor does, too. And Bruce-” The two looked at each other again. “You’d think- at least I did- considering the accident had everything to do with gamma- that he’d be a little more similar. But he’s not.
I wanted more time- to figure this out- to make it make sense. No one has a signature like yours, but…”
This was all too much to take in. You didn’t know how to begin to think about any of this. Tony had been running tests? No. Not just Tony. Your gaze shifted over. “You’ve been working with him on this.” Tony had kept this from you but had been working with Bruce. Something familiar pinged you. A friendly face standing over your bedside as you’d just come out of a battle with Extremis.
What are you doing?
Checking your levels. Most of it is out of your system by now, I was just making sure things are on the straight and narrow.
He looked at you and then dropped his head again. “Yeah, well… I suppose I was the leading expert on gamma radiation at the time.”
They’re hoping I can track it. This thing is throwing out gamma radiation. Might be why they’re looking into this Banner guy.
What had brought them together in the first place. You felt yourself going a little numb- and dizzy- as the wheels started spinning. Tony was talking again. “Up until very recently, your signature was totally unique.” Shifting his hand flat across the air as he said this. He then pulled something else off one of the screens. Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, to be precise. “Until them.”
Bruce startled you when he followed up, “The signatures aren’t the same, but they have the same sort of frequency- theirs are a little more on the loud side- they’re just starting out I think. You’re becoming more nuanced-”
I wasn’t sure where you two were vacationing...
That’s how they’d found the scepter. Bruce had tracked them and almost mistakenly thought it was you. And that wasn’t the first time either. Events were slamming your memory. They’d broken the dam.
Gravitational anomaly has subsided, sir. I’m tracking the flux of gamma radiation now. JARVIS, where is Ms. INY?
That time they’d been tracking that thing- the problem Thor had dragged to earth-
Your feet found you first and you held a hand up to signal that you in no way wanted either of them to come close to you. The feeling of wanting to press yourself into the corner- or maybe run for the door- was suddenly very strong. “Who else knows about this?” How long was the list of people that knew something so intimate about you-
“SHIELD knew.” Tony saying this was like delivering a blow to your gut. “It’s how they tracked you.”
“Oh my god.” The words slipped out of you as you reached out to put one hand on the nearest table to brace yourself. Something you’d been doing a lot recently. SHIELD knew. Nick knew. “How?”
“They came right after the incident with your professor-” Tony tried to answer.
But you cut him off. “No- how- only you have been working on this gamma signature stuff right? So how...”
You were unwinding very quickly. It wasn’t clicking just yet. Tony seemed stuck. You couldn’t bear to look at him. Bruce’s voice filled the room. “As much as we’ve hypothesized… the only thing that seems to make sense is that the Tesseract was in friendly hands since 1946. The Maximoff’s signatures are close to the scepter, but not quite. And yours are… close but not quite. We’re not sure yet what links them. But they’re the only signatures like it on earth.”
Earlier today- I’ve been thinking about it- you said Banner and I already found the scepter once. Were you thinking of the Tesseract?
He hadn’t been worried about your brain being muddled that day- he’d been worrying that he’d gotten caught. Even though Bruce was the last to speak, you were looking at Tony. “Are you sure about this?”
You wanted him to tell you no. That he wasn’t sure about anything. And they weren’t, really, right? That’s why they’d been hiding it? Tony wanted more time to do the math- that’s the gist of what he’d said- but- but- “They have redacted files on a girl.” He pulled this onto holodisplay, too. Tone empty. Body full of regret that you had no time for right now.
Redacted was an understatement. It was basically twenty pages all blacked out except for a single paragraph about the Tesseract- a subject number- a subject gender- and a date- 1990.
“Running theory… either she was another experiment. ...or she was you. In case of the former, we think whatever they were doing with her… it had something to do with whatever they did to you. And their lead researcher died not too long after their trail went cold on you. Which wouldn’t matter anyway- their research was extremely limited. And their methods were lacking. Which might explain why they lost sight of you. Until- ...well.” Well was right. Because if that was even a little bit true, Tony outing himself might have been the reason SHIELD had picked you back up.
Bruce’s voice piped back in and there was a little bit of frantic energy that seemed to be bouncing between the two of them. He started speaking very rapidly, pointing at some of their research, moving it around as he did. Almost like he was hosting a lecture. Like you were some animal in a fucking zoo. “Biologically speaking, you’ve only just started peaking- your cell cycle is unlike anything we’ve ever seen and the senescence is slowing. But every time you get in contact with one of the theorized originating power sources there’s a biological shift. And stressors in your environment have been having a huge impact, too. You’re almost like a walking case study on the man-made Super Serum vs an alien environmental stew. We’ve actually been able to expand quite a lot on the-”
“Is this fun for you?” You didn’t recognize the utterly angry tone of your voice, especially not when it was addressed towards either of them. You loved these men, truly. But they were talking at each other- about you- you just couldn’t take it anymore. “Is my life a fun little project for you guys?” This was… this was too much for you.
Who were these people? You were entirely sure you had no idea anymore.
You’d stopped them both cold. The feeling nearly dragging them to the floor was something beyond guilt at this point. They felt terrible. Maybe they were only now waking up to what they’d been doing- or who they’d been doing it to. Who could say?
You know the chances of them trying to turn you into a science experiment are fairly high, right? So what happened to you? Some sort of experiment gone wrong?
Were you a lab experiment? SHIELD? Or someone else? Because really, it’s remarkable. Your powers. Tell me. Where did they come from? Some experiment gone awry?
Just uh- real quick… you weren’t- you don’t remember being tested on in a grungy government lab or anything, right?
Voices were assaulting you. Good god… how long had this been staring you in the face? “So what-” You spit this out as another hot flash of anger took a much easier hold in place of shock that had worn you out. “For years you thought I was some- what- some freak SHIELD lab accident powered by some alien source and you were never going to tell me?” You went a little weak after letting all of that out, denial easy. “No. No. I wasn’t- I’d remember that-”
You hadn’t grown up in a lab. You’d had parents. You- Tony finally was staring at you. “We never talk about your past.”
Your hand waved very dismissively at him. “That doesn’t mean anything- this can’t be right-” You remembered your parents. You also remembered them dying. You remembered that pain. And… in between there and college-
...why couldn’t you remember anymore?
“Maybe it’s not. We don’t have all the data.” Tony was an arm’s length away. And every part of him was screaming that he needed to reach out and find you. So loud you could hear it. Because you were drifting away from him. Rightfully so. “And I’ve spent a lot of time trying to make sure SHIELD was convinced otherwise, too.” The way he said this was so weird. Like he was admitting that guilt as much as he was trying to take praise for protecting you from something you didn’t even know about.
...you really wished he hadn’t said that. And you wished you hadn’t seen the quick drop of his eyes to the Reactor glowing on your chest, and then pulling away in the next second.
It was to prove Fury wrong, more than anything. Bring the Reactor. Let me take a quick run through of your suit, then. Put it on. And… don’t take it off until we’re debriefed. Promise me. You didn’t take the Reactor. Where’s yours? In a drawer somewhere?
You fixed the suits? - Yours first. I… had a deal. With Fury. Before any of this. If he wanted us to keep working for him, he had to purge all mentions of that stuff. You worry about me- and I’ll worry about you.
Every time Tony had prioritized your suit over his- or worried why you weren’t wearing your Reactor- or made some necessary upgrade to it- or-
“This?” Asking him very meekly as you reached up and took it off your chest. “You’ve been- what- hiding my signature- with this?” Something else even more terrible hit you next.
Tell me, how did you find her? Oh? Tell me about that. Very interesting. Very interesting.
“Oh god- Kilgrave knew about this before I did?” You really were five seconds from a full on meltdown.
Hey… what was the reason you showed up at that place in Brooklyn anyway? I’m assuming following some lead- neighbors heard screaming or something- saw me in a window? He just told me to go. The longer time passes the more I’m losing on the event, but- you know Tony. I’m sure he had drones out all over the city. Probably was a noise complaint he caught on a police scanner. He was taking any lead he could get at that point.
Kilgrave had known more about you than you knew about you. And Bruce had lied right to your face. How was that okay? How was that right? You just barely noticed Tony’s head turning up, directing a very sharp look at Bruce. Oh good. So at least you weren’t the only one not in the loop. Not the only one being lied to all the time. Apparently Tony didn’t know that either. But he knew just enough to put the pieces together finally.
You were pretty sure you were going to be sick. This was too much to take in. You didn’t want any part of it, really. It was unfair- and- … “You’ve been hiding this from me this whole time?” Asking the both of them, but really just Tony. Because the both of you had promised each other a very long time ago not to do this. “Why couldn’t you- why didn’t you ever say anything? Were you never planning on telling me?”
It was more shame now, but still the guilt was heavy too. So much so that it covered that warm light you used to know. He just felt… cold now. “I wanted to figure it out for you. I wanted to be able to give this to you with all the answers. I didn’t- ...I wasn’t hiding it because you were a science project- if that’s what you think- I just wanted to be sure. The last thing I wanted to do was scare you and have nothing to show for it.”
“So what’s happening right now.” Tears had started falling. Maybe you’d been crying the whole time. It was hard to tell anymore.
His eyes lowered. “Yeah. What’s happening right now.”
The worst part about this was you believed him. This wasn’t some malicious stunt designed to hurt you. He hadn’t been gleefully keeping this from you because you fascinated him. Science project- ...no that wasn’t what you thought at all. You understood that all of this had been to protect you. He’d been working so hard on doing that. For years now-
And you’d had no idea. Which was why it wasn’t okay.
“You lied to me.” A lie of omission was still a fucking lie. “You knew more about me than I knew about me. How is that fair, Tony?”
For a sliver of time, you almost wanted him to fight back. So that you could release some of this awfulness. But resignation held him deeply. “It’s not.” You couldn’t be here anymore. You couldn’t stand to look at him right now. It was that thought that had you turning away, and pain crackled through you as he snapped out to grab you. “Honey-” Not physical pain.
Just every other pain imaginable.
As carefully as you could manage, so as to not devolve further, you took a breath and then leveled your eyes with him. You weren’t sure you had enough bravery in you to make the request that you did, “Let me go.” Somehow you managed. And stood still while he held on to you. While he cracked at the edges and felt the flutter of panic from him. The realization that he’d created a problem he might not be able to fix now. ...one that was detrimental to the both of you. You were suddenly mirroring each other’s heartbreak. But finally he released you, hands up flat in a sign of defeat, and you shuffled away, feeling like you were dropping pieces of you with every step. Barely pieced together rag doll that you now knew you were- stuffing falling out now that you’d been ripped open. At the door you hesitated. And still didn’t look at either of them as you asked again, “Who else knows about this?”
The entire team? The entire fucking world, perhaps? Everyone except you knew you were some lab accident involving some alien tech?
Tony’s answer didn’t make you feel any better. “Fury had some idea. I don’t know how much. Not the whole picture, at least. A lot of your files were redacted- ...even before I got to them. ...besides him, it’s just me and Bruce.”
You really had to gather yourself together to not just crumble right there. “I need some time. I need… I need time to think about all this.” You didn’t wait around long after saying that, pulling the door open and closing it carefully behind you. Your march up to the penthouse was long and arduous, and you felt yourself floating further and further away. You caught sight of yourself in the bedroom mirror.
What even were you? Would you ever know? ...did you want to?
You collapsed onto the bed and curled up on your side, not knowing what to do. What to feel. What to think. So it was nice… when it all just sort of went away. You weren’t there, really. You just-
“Ms. INY…” JARVIS unfairly yanked you back to a place you didn’t want to be. “Is there anything I can do for you?”
The stupidest question of the night came out of your mouth. “Did you know about this, JARVIS?” Of course he did. Tony had been working on this. That meant JARVIS was involved in every possible way. But you just sort of wanted one last confirmation of betrayal.
Even if he was a program. And he couldn’t do that.
“...yes, ma’am. I knew.”
No. JARVIS couldn’t do that. But Tony could. Tony ordered his silence. Just like he’d done the same to Bruce, you were sure. Maybe he never would have told you. Maybe he never would have figured this out- he still hadn’t- and just never said anything to you for the rest of forever.
A part of you wished that had been the case.
You curled into a tighter ball. “Please just leave me alone, JARVIS.”
“...I understand, ma’am.”
You didn’t want to do what you did next. But it was inevitable. Yet even sobbing didn’t even bring much relief.
–
Tony’s legs gave out as soon as that door closed behind her. She’d sapped the rest of his energy. Had taken a huge chunk of him with her- and she didn’t even want it. He was lucky to find a chair right beneath him, but maybe the floor would have been better.
Inching forward as his spine bent, he put his head in his hands, gaze downward but wholly unseeing. His brain was chugging so loud he thought his eardrums might explode. What are you going to do now? What should you do now?How will you fix this? What if it can’t be fixed? This is what you deserve. You should have come clean. You hurt her.You promised never to do that. What if she leaves? What about Ultron? The clock is ticking.Time is running out. What about her? What about her? They’re coming. What about her?
“Tony-” Bruce had a hand on his shoulder and Tony shot back, sitting straight up as he put a hand heavy on his chest, rubbing, itching, scratching- while he felt his heart thudding a painful disconnected rhythm- his other arm swept out, knocking Bruce off him, something about the touch overwhelming his senses and sending him into overdrive.
He couldn’t breathe. “I just- I need a minute-” He needed a minute. And she needed time. Panic had a hard hold of him. His vision tunneled.
They’recomingthey’recoming whataboutUltron whatabouther whatifsheleaves youdon’tdeserveher whataboutULTRON myfaultmyfaultmyfault
“Easy, Tony- come on-”
He was going to lose her. The earth was going to lose something greater. Which point came first?
He needed her. He needed her right now. He was being sucked into a vacuum of space he wasn’t sure he could pull out of. Not without her help. Her guidance. Her love. But he’d shattered her trust. He’d hurt her- What if she never came back? Bruce’s voice warbled beyond his comprehension as his thoughts circled the drain.
Somethingiscoming Somethingiscoming
Time was running out. Tony couldn’t breathe. Maybe worst of all, he couldn’t think.
How was he supposed to fix a problem like this? What would happen if he couldn’t?

B(if)tek & Artificial: 1996-2003
The turn of the millennium sparked fears globally of a technological fallout: computers would crash at the changing of a ’99 to a ’00, security systems would fail, the world’s nuclear stockpile would be triggered. The impending panic of inaccurate ordering of automated dating in digital systems spread its fear far and wide and came to be known as the Y2K bug.
On the underside of the world, in Australia, where most things arrive late, distorted or totally different to their original form, there were two women embracing analog and digital technologies in all their glory. Nicole Skeltys and Kate Crawford were better known as B(if)tek, a pioneering electro-femme outfit. Feminism with a wink and a bleep. Ladytron before Ladytron. Nicole’s eccentric solo project was Artificial - Hillbilly House - as she likes to call it.
River Yarra speaks to Nicole about her time as B(if)tek and Artificial paired with a 1hr mélange of the two womens’ music.
•••
River Yarra: I read somewhere that B(if)tek started in Canberra (1.) Can you tell me how that came about? Wikipedia says B(if)tek’s debut album “Sub-Vocal Theme Park” was released on Geekgirl, but wasn’t it on a German psy-trance label? Who is Geekgirl and what was your relation to them?
Nicole Skeltys: In 1996, when Kate and I realised our late night noodlings with analogue machines in my garage in Canberra had accidently produced enough material for an album, we approached our friend Rosie Cross to help us with the costs of pressing and promoting the CD. Rosie Cross was a digital feminist pioneer, she had set up the first on-line e-zine/site/blog for women into tech & tech related arts called Geekgirl. So Subvocal Theme Park was released in Australia thanks to her support and encouragement. But seems like it was only a few weeks after that, that we got contacted by a German trance label called Nephilim who wanted to release the CD in Germany and Europe. So we agreed to that too. To this day, I still don’t know how they found out about our obscure independent antipodean release. But I’m glad they did, because Subvocal got a cult following in Europe, and even just a few years ago, it reappeared at top of the electronic charts in Hungary!
RY: Most of your associated acts from the turn of the millennium seem to be males. At that time, were there any other female identifying musicians in your circles?
NS: We were (and I still am) a member of a seminal electronic arts collective in Australia called Clan Analogue. It was (is) a collective of artists - mostly electronic musicians - who support each other and release own material, put on our own events etc. Yes, there were very few women doing electronic music production & performance back then, we were certainly the most successful in Australia at the time. But Clan had/has some great women artists & DJs like Sobriquet, Lush Puppy, Bass Bitch, Charlotte Wittingham (in Telemetry Orchestra), Cindi Drennan (in Tesseract). It was only after we’d released our second album 2020 in 1999, that Ladytron hit the scene - and are still going strong today. I sometimes quip that ‘we were Ladytron before there was Ladytron’.
RY: What do you feel your experiences in the music industry were stacked against your male counterparts?
NS: Because we surrounded ourselves with - and often chose to perform with our friends in the electronic arts community, particularly Clan Analogue, there was a political awareness and aesthetic & intellectual support for what we were doing. We also had a lot of fun taking the piss out of feminine stereotypes in live performances - we used to dress up as nurses, space-age airline stewardesses, geishas, girl guides etc and hop around on stage. So that all worked well for us, but when we stepped outside of that cognoscenti electronica world, we sometimes came face to face with the reality of male dominated rock. We were one of the support acts for the 1999 Beastie Boys Australian tour, but the first night we appeared on stage in nurses outfits, we got harassed and leered at by the mass of 'right to party’ boys in the front row who didn’t get us (or indeed what the Beastie Boys then stood for). So we dressed in 'normal’ clothes for the rest of the tour.
RY: In your 2020 album, were you imagining what the future might hold and how close are we to your predictions?
NS: Ha ha! I was asked that last week in an interview for a forthcoming documentary about Australian electronica in the 20th century. And my response was/is - if you look at the cover of 2020, you see a lovely girl against a retro-futurist 'life in space’ background, looking at her smart watch/ gadget - possibly for inspiration. And I can guarantee, that we are on track to next year looking EXACTLY like that. Not only that, but back in 1999, there was no 2020 - but very soon, there will be. How spooky is that? We were always ahead of our time…
RY: Your 3 albums are all quite different while still retaining the same analog vision. What influenced your genres and what did the change between them look like?
NS: Subvocal was just a glorious outcome of innocent noodlings and experimentation in a Canberra garage, dark, brooding, cinematic, a bit magical. Canberra feels pretty remote, and we used to play a lot in our own forest parties late at night, so perhaps the music reflects some of that atmosphere. 2020 was more upbeat, perhaps reflecting the fact that by then we were in demand to play at clubs, raves and festival dance stages across the country. Our final album Frequencies Will Move Together was quite heavily influenced by Boards of Canada at the time, and we also had the pleasure of asking some of our local and international friends (like Monolake) to do remixes for the 2nd album in this double album release - thanks to a generous grant from the Australia Council.
RY: You played some live performances on SBS (2.) and won an ARIA (3.) for best dance record in ’99 How did that arise? - In the same year’s hottest 100 the only dance song in the top 10 was Fatboy Slim’s “Praise You”
NS: Yes, we were on TV a fair bit from about 1999 - 2001 - including Saturday morning Video Hits show, which was kind of the Australian equivalent of Top of The Pops! We were nominated for best dance act that year, but didn’t win. However, that inspired us to set up own own awards to reward artists who were genuinely pushing the aesthetic boundaries, taking risks and had a political conscience. The WINK awards ran for 3 years, and were funded from our own pockets, with some equipment & venue support from the Australian Centre for the Moving Image. We gave away cash prizes, had a proper ceremonies with hundreds of attendees, & provided each lucky winner with custom made lightbox awards designed by a local craftsman. We got entries from all around the world. That is one of my proudest achievements, it was rewarding artists for all the right reasons (as opposed to just being commercially successful which is the mainstream music industry’s only criteria of worth), and it made a lot of people very happy.one hour show in March to the theme of women, feminism, and women’s rights…
Canberra (Lands of the Ngunnawal people) is the capital city of Australia. It was decided as such after a bitter feud between the two established metropolitan areas of Australia - Melbourne (Birrarunga - Lands of the Kulin nations); situated on the south eastern coast, and Sydney (Lands of the Eora nation); the eastern coast- couldn’t agree on which city would best suit the capital. Thus they picked somewhere in the middle.

Whatever It Takes: Chapter Two
A Loki x Reader based in the Tesseract fic universe! Avengers: Infinity War follow-up fic. Next in the Tesseract fic series. Links to Tesseract, Lokasenna, What Heroes Do, and Fidelity. Also to my AU Feel You.
I WOULD LOVE FEEDBACK! Want to be tagged in updates? Let me know!
@malignentmac @fandomsfanman @i-am-supermerwholoked221b @markusstraya @sincereleygmg @pandaqua @person-born-winchester
Just a forewarning, this one has a major POV shift from the past entries, since Reader was Dusted at the end of Fidelity! Keeping with my recent trend in fic titles, it’s named after a track on the official soundtrack. I also constantly watch this Video, and recommend it to hype you up!
“What do you mean he’s gone?” Banner groaned, running a hand down his face, “You’re telling me that not only is Tony still gone, but Fury disappeared too?”
“It would seem that way.” Striker mumbled. “The only thing we’ve found at Fury’s last known location is some sort of pager. We fear the battery might run out soon though.”
“Send it here.” Steve said, “We will find a way to keep it running. If that’s all Fury cared about when he started dusting, that means it must be extremely important. Is the pager flashing any words or coordinates?”
“We’ll send it to the Avengers Compound now.” Striker confirmed, handing the object off to someone outside of the projection’s range. “You should receive it within an hour. And as far as any clues on the pager, the only thing the screen is showing is a strange symbol with a star of sorts at the center. At first we thought it was an older design of your suit, Cap, but after some research we found that to be inaccurate.”
“So you have no idea who this device is calling?” I asked, “Or if whoever at the other end is even around after all that happened?”
“Listen here,” Striker snapped, “We don’t exactly have much to go on at this point, and if it was important to Fury, it’s worth a shot at keeping around. You are on some THIN ice, and if it wasn’t for Roger’s steadfast defence of you and your apparently “changed” character, you’d be on your way to the Raft right now.”
“That’s enough.” Steve said, stepping between myself and the projection of Striker, “Thank you, sir. We’ll get that thing hooked up to a generator of sorts ASAP and let you know if we hear anything back.”
Steve shut off the projection, taking a heavy sigh as the blue light fizzled out.
“Thank you.” I said, surprised that he would have defended me in any capacity. “You didn’t have to do that.”
“I know.” he replied, a smile briefly flashing on his face, “But you really have changed. I think that deserves a second chance alone, notwithstanding that I don’t like it when people bully others. I’m also not Striker’s biggest fan, so it made the whole ordeal easier for me to begin with.”
Steve leaned closer to me, lowering his voice to a hushed tone, “And Thor needs you here, not locked away somewhere leaving him all alone.”
Thor sat in an adjacent room, his brooding features the only external indication of the trauma that had occurred days prior. A bowl of rolls sat in front of him, untouched but waiting should he change his mind.
“I want to make sure he doesn’t start self-destructing with guilt after the way things happened.” Steve said, “If there’s anything you think will help, we could really use your insight.”
I paused, taken aback with Steve’s sudden complete trust, and his reaching out for my help. While the experiences of the past few days had been nothing short of devastating, I had a hard time comprehending that someone who once viewed me (and perhaps rightly so) as an enemy was treating me with such empathy and compassion... almost as a friend.
“If there’s anything we can do to monitor where half of our remaining people might be, that would be a good place to start.” I said, gesturing to some of the readouts that were projected along the walls. “One of us was able to get a group of our people away from Thanos’ ship and should be heading this way. If they send out a distress signal, we will need to be able to assist them in their journey here.”
“On it.” Natasha said, “Would you guys send out a distress signal in whatever language it is that you guys normally speak, or is it english?”
“It would be in Allspeak, so you’ll be able to understand it.” I clarified, “I don’t know where they ran to though, so it would be best to scan in a general radius outwards from earth to ensure we pick up any signal they send.”
As Natasha and I set up the monitoring frequencies that we would need, Banner went about producing a generator for the pager that would soon arrive.
“I hope that whatever Fury had in mind with this pager, it works.” Steve said, sitting in one of the nearby office chairs.
“For everyone’s sake, I agree.” Bruce mumbled.
We all sat around the conference room days later, watching the global missing persons count steadily ascend as the pager beeped away in its container down the hall.
“This is a nightmare.” Steve signed, his eyes trained on the growing number projected in front of us.
“I’ve had better nightmares.” Natasha replied, sighing.
Rhodey walked in moments later, breaking our attention away from the screens.
“Hey.” he said, leaning against the door frame. “So that thing just stopped doing whatever the hell it was doing.”
We all followed Rhodes into the other room, where Bruce stood by the pager, its screen dead and blank behind the glass.
“What have we got?” Natasha asked.
“Whatever signal it was sending finally crapped out.” Bruce responded.
“I thought we bypassed the battery?” Steve countered.
“Oh, we did, it’s still plugged in.” Rhodes answered, “It just stopped.”
“Is there no way to turn it on again?” I asked, “Surely there’s a power switch.”
“Reboot it, send the signal again.” Steve agreed.
“We don’t even know what this is!” Banner said, irritation lacing his voice.
“Fury did.” Natasha said quietly. “Just do it please. You tell me the second you get a signal, I want to know who’s on the other end of that thing.”
The second Natasha had finished her statement, my blood ran cold. Something powerful was closeby, and we were nearly defenseless…
Natasha and I turned at the same time, but I was the only one holding a knife up in response.
A woman stood before us, her appearance seemingly completely human, but an energy radiated from her the likes of which I had only seen once before. There was something extremely familiar about the power, but it was also different in a way that I could not yet discern. Whatever it might be, she was most definitely a force to be reckoned with.
“Where’s Fury?” She said, staring all of us down.
“You’re the one he called for?” Steve questioned, and pointed to the symbol on her suit. “That’s the symbol that was on the pager.”
I lowered my knife slowly, “Fury has met the same unfortunate demise as half of this universe.” I said, “Not before sending the message that has undoubtedly brought you here.”
“Do you know what happened?” she asked, her stance relaxing slightly. “And my name is Carol Danvers. I’ve known Fury for a very long time.”
Bruce interjected, “You ever heard of a guy named Thanos?”
“Can’t say that I have, the universe is a big place.” She quipped, irritated with how long it was taking to get the information she desired.
“Well he’s the reason everything’s happened.” Bruce responded, “He took all the infinity stones, the power stone, the mind stone, the tesseract-”
“The tesseract?” she interrupted. “I thought Fury had that safely tucked away.”
“A lot has changed since you were with Fury.” Steve said, sighing. “I know all too well how fast things move when you’re not around to see them. We’re trying to formulate a plan to find him and bring him to justice, whatever justice we can manage. To find out where he is, we need to find out if Tony Stark is still alive, and if he is, we need to bring him home.”
“Where was he headed last?” She said, “I’ll find him.”
“He was last seen following a giant donut spaceship out of the atmosphere.” Rhodey said, “He followed because some squid looking thing had taken Doctor Strange and the time stone, but we don’t really have a heading.”
“If that’s the case, he’ll be on Titan.” I said, sighing. “Maw was doubtless trying to bring that stone back to Thanos so he could pursue the other that remained on earth.”
“Titan it is.” Danver said, marching outside quickly before shooting into the atmosphere and out of sight.
“Who the hell is she?” Rhodes snarked.
“Whoever she is, she has nearly the full force of the Tesseract’s power within her.” I said, turning to face the rest of the Avengers. “Yet it’s in a different form than the kind that resided in (Y/N).”
My heart sank and was pulled at by another wave of anger and heartache merely mentioning her name again. Before I could control it, my face flickered with the emotions that I did not want to deal with in front of anyone. I had dealt with grief many times before, of course, but this time I couldn’t simply run away and be alone. I saw the appeal of Thor’s choice to seclude himself even in the Avengers compound.
“Let’s just be glad she’s on our side, then.” Steve said, gripping my shoulder in support. “Maybe there’s a chance she can help us find him and make him bring everyone back.”

So I finally watched the 2018 movie and needles to say, I loved it. I loved that it was very positive in it's messages of emotions and self-worth and I also feel that they did a very successful job making Camazotz more horrifying than IT was in the book. I didn't think it was possible, but those mad geniuses, Ava DuVernay (director) and Jennifer Lee (writer), pulled it off and I give huge props to the rest of the cast and crew as well. I'm not too sure how well it did at the box office and I hate that people are trying to put it down. I hope it did well enough to warrant a potential sequel.
I WANT TO SEE PROGINOSKES AND THE ETCHROI RENDERED ON SCREEN, DAMMIT!!!
Anyway, the point of this reblog is that the film gave me a few ideas on this Ducktales AU, and I'd like to share them with you. I appreciate reblogs as well. Help spread the word. I just might inspire people.
So the following is stuff copypasted from a Ducktales server I'm a part of. I shared the ideas there first, but I'd like more feedback as well.
I just saw the first 38 minutes of A Wrinkle in Time (2018) and now I want Mrs Whatsit to be played by the Forest Spirit from Fantasia 2000.
Now that I'm about 2/3 through A Wrinkle in Time (2018) I can now say that they somehow succeeded in making Camazotz more scary than IT was in the book. And because I had Huey be the one to get brainwashed in my AU, that means Horror Huey is now Canon.
Also, Mark Beaks is totally The Man With Red Eyes.
I think in my AU concept, the characters of Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin are oddly split between Webby and the Quack Pack.
Huey - has the intelligence of Charles Wallace
Dewey - Social Blindness and alleged tough guy reputation
Louie - self loathing and trust issues, embarrassed by family
Webby - interloper who comes along because the Mrses think she has useful skills, may or may not come from an abusive background (she lives with her grandma for a reason)
Huey and Dewey alternate between Charles Wallace's openness. Both of them have it, but Huey is slightly more open in comparison to Dewey. Huey is outspoken and fell for Gavin the Bigfoot's scam, after all.
That Louie feels somewhat embarrassed by his brothers at school considering that they're the subject of bullying hits a raw nerve when Nightmare!Huey is berating the rest of the party on Camazotz.
Huey: Sorry, Red. Dewey's always been a problem. He's quite the aberration, y'know.
Mark Beaks as Red: Yeah, I can tell.
Louie (Nervously): But.... aberrations are far more interesting..... don't you think, Huey?
Huey: Interesting that you say that even though you pretend you aren't one of us. Or are you so much of a hypocrite that you believe empty words will get you anywhere here? You can't scam IT.
Something to that effect.
Also, here are new ideas I just thought of. I'll share them in my discord soon.
Because I made Fethry Duck The Happy Medium, that probably makes his girlfriend, Gloria, the "human" version of Mrs Whatsit.
While Della Duck is likely still the pilot/test subject for the Tesseract, HDL's Currently Unnamed Dad likely worked as a scientist. I imagine that not having Della around worried him, causing him to try and recreate the frequency that caused her to vanish. He became so distracted that he likely died in a car accident. That or he could have had an illness that offed him just after Della died.
The bullies at HDL's school in St. Canard don't ever bring up their dad when they and the faculty pick on them.
A character from Darkwing Duck has a name that might sound familiar to some, Bianca Beakly, who became a supervillain called The Bug Master. I feel that this could potentially relate to Webby's possibly abusive background in this version.
That's all I got for now.
I have another probably lame AU to Ducktales.
I have a new Ductales AU idea, and I promise it’s better than this one, specifically because I have expansive ideas about it.
It’s a Ducktales AU based on Madeline L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time and it’s currently upcoming 2018 cinematic film adaptation. Now because I’m only ideas with almost zero writing skill, I’m hoping that @i-restuff and/or any other Duckfan tumblr user(s) who write Ducktales fanfiction can write stories or help me expand/flesh out the following ideas.
