it takes two.
Tumblr media
spencer deals with a lot on the field, but nothing can prepare him for when he’s stuck inside a locker with you.
pairing :: spencer x fem bau!reader
warnings :: 18+ due to sexual themes but no smut, slight claustrophobia triggers
word count :: 2.2k
author’s note :: inspired by a scene from s9e23, i'm imagining spencer in a fitted collared shirt and tie, reader wears a skirt
accompanying song :: stuck between by dutch criminal record
Tumblr media
“nothing’s showing up on vicap. i’ve cross-checked records against everything you’ve mentioned, sir, but there’s literally nothing. zilch,” you hear garcia let out an exasperated groan as she ferociously taps at her keyboard.
you watch as hotch kneads the skin between his brows with growing impatience while morgan starts to pace around the room. you’re not doing any better yourself, your stressed-out fingers threatening to tug at the strands of hair neatly holding your ponytail together.
it’s too frustrating. the leads are clearly there, but your team is lacking the final puzzle piece to complete the profile, to confirm that it’s someone in the department that’s deliberately injecting themselves into the investigation.
“your answer is probably written down on paper. ugh, i hate when bad guys try to act all smart,” garcia fumes, and sulks as she gives an apologetic wave from her side of the screen. hotch nods, relays a thank you, and cuts the call before rounding the whole team together.
“think about it, those two are the perfect scapegoats. all of these agents have everything to lose, so why not just blame them? they’ve been in and out of cells already, and it makes perfect sense to craft a narrative that’ll point fingers at them,” morgan starts, making small gestures as he speaks with his signature cadence, topped with a honeyed rasp.
“and they’ve got all the authority to influence the public’s opinion,” jj nods in agreement.
“we need to try to get those two to talk again, but we also have to take extra precautions. jj and prentiss, go interview them one more time to see if they’ll spill any names. morgan, i need you to work with garcia to look for other possible leads. reid and l/n, go to the records room to review the files of the agents working with us. dave and i will try to hold down the fort,” hotch instructs, nodding at each of you as he rolls out the orders.
“and try not to draw suspicion. if all else fails, say that you need to run to the bathroom,” rossi adds with a wink. it always amazes you how calm the italian agent is during such high-pressure situations, a trait you’ve grown to immensely appreciate.
“shall we?” you say as you nudge spencer, and he hums back in response. you bid a wish of good luck to emily and jj and traverse the hallway to the records room with the doctor, your heels clacking beside the cushioned steps of his slightly worn converses.
after looking left and right to make sure no one’s around, spencer opens the door. you silence the sounds of your heels as you follow inside, and let the bolt of the lock plunge into the frame by slowly closing the door.
“alright, you take the left, i’ll take the right,” you whisper, and spencer gives you a thumbs up.
the two of you work silently and as fast as possible, sifting through the piles of records that lie on the tables and beside the cabinets. you feel your heart jump into a cartwheel every time a sheet of paper slips out of the manila folders, the sounds of rustling and creasing setting you on edge.
“i found mcgregor and drew, but i don’t think it’s either of them,” spencer declares with a voice that isn’t supposed to sound loud at all, but it feels hundreds of decibels higher than the bare whisper you spoke with earlier.
“okay, i found weaver and lee, but they don’t fit the profile either. let’s continue looking for the other two,” you call back.
spencer walks over to you and kneels beside your left to help you with your search. once you spread the folders on the floor, you spot one of the two remaining files, and spencer soon finds the other. you’re about to turn through the sheets in the folder when the doorknob starts to shake, startling the both of you.
“shit. spence,” you blurt as spencer takes his file in one hand and grabs yours with the other, and shoves them into an open drawer. after he slides the compartment back with his careful and nimble fingers, you grab his arm and squeeze into a spare locker. you barely manage to seal the opening shut in time.
you could say that it was quick thinking that saved your and spencer’s cover, since the door jiggles and thrusts open a mere second later.
you never would’ve imagined that the day would come when you would draw air directly from spencer’s breaths, let alone enclose yourself in the same room as him.
and yet here you are, perched on top of spencer’s knee, the scratchy fabric of his trousers resting under the hollow space of your pencil skirt and between your legs. his other leg presses against your side of the wall with an uncomfortable bend, while his chin sits an atom’s width from your forehead.
it’s a nonnegotiable consequence that comes with his tall figure, the way his clothed knee has to rub against your inner thighs under the draped fabric.
one of your hands lies awkwardly on his chest while the other is on his thigh, right above the knee that’s using you for leverage. your attention immediately shifts to your left when you see the rays of the intruder’s flashlight scope through the room.
you stop mid-exhale when the light pours through the gaps of the locker, casting shadows on spencer’s face and your body. he looks stressed, anxiously wetting his lips with closed eyes, face turned away from you.
and he looks overwhelmed. rapid bursts of inhales and exhales fire from his body, likely due to the collar of his shirt being bound tightly around his neck with the tie. with shaking fingers, you slowly reach for his tie, waiting for approval to loosen it.
you feel his forehead bury into the cave of your shoulder, and he whispers his desperate ask into your ear: “please.”
despite the lack of light around you, you’re able to locate the small end of his satin tie, and you tug lightly. the knot unfurls as you pull, and spencer lets out a small sigh of relief before breathing a low thank you in your ear.
as this happens, you hear the intruder surf through the piles of papers, unlocking drawers and lifting boxes left and right. hurry, hurry, hurry, you pray desperately in your head. beads of sweat start to form at your temple and threaten to fall down to your exposed neck, which happens to be situated directly in spencer’s line of sight.
“come on,” you hear the guest in the room complain, angrily flipping through papers and slamming the cabinets. you think it’s finally time for him to leave when you hear the high-pitched ring of his phone.
but your eyes widen when instead of heading to the door, he makes strides towards the locker right across from yours, and leans his back against it before holding the phone up to his ear. holy shit.
“jensen speaking,” he says with a gruff voice, and plays with the button of his flashlight so it turns on and off spontaneously. as the light flickers, it dimly shines the space inside your locker.
spencer turns his head to meet your eyes, a panicked expression covering his face. you’re about to mouth a small sorry for the helpless situation you’ve dragged him into, but just as you’re about to do so, spencer’s trousers slide against your legs, creating friction so unbearable that you let out a squeak.
you freeze, looking up to see spencer’s eyes flash warningly. he instantly clasps your mouth with his hands to cover any further sound from escaping your lips, but with no form of support to maintain his position, he starts to slip, and his shirt lightly skids against the locker’s slippery walls. this is somehow even worse for you, because spencer’s knee starts to dig further up your legs and into your cotton underwear, forcing you to squeeze your eyes shut.
luckily for the both of you, jensen seems to be distracted by whatever words are being spewed from the other end of his phone call to pay any mind to your suppressed yelps.
“i think their agents might be on to us,” he scowls, and you watch from the corner of your eye as he tosses the last of his files into a box and opens the adjacent locker to ram it inside.
“yeah, i’ll try to stall them for as long as i can. they don’t know what they’re getting themselves into.”
jensen curses and promptly ends the call, returning his phone into the pocket of his shirt. he finally walks to the door, sighing as he twists the knob and steps out. the two of you lie in wait for an additional three minutes before trying anything.
“i think we’re good,” spencer huffs, finally opening the locker door with a thud as the sounds of steel clashing against steel echo throughout the air.
“yeah,” you nod, taking a breath to collect yourself as you step out. you watch as spencer runs a hand through his hair and moves his fingers down to adjust his tie.
he returns the stare, his adam’s apple bobbing when he eyes your wrinkled shirt and scrunched up pencil skirt – which looks more like a mini-skirt with how it sits right below your hips.
“i um, i need some air. how about you?” spencer asks at last, clearing his throat. you bite your lip when he starts to brush the dust off his thighs and knees, the moments of earlier flooding into the back of your mind like the warmth pooling between your thighs.
“yeah, i could use some fresh air too,” you respond breathily, averting your eyes and focusing instead on smoothing out your shirt and retying your loosened ponytail. when you’re done, you turn around and stagger to the door, not looking twice to see if spencer’s following you. an intense flush spreads across your cheeks, and your only viable path of escape is to the bathroom.
“you, um, missed a spot,” you hear from behind, and you follow spencer’s gaze to see that he’s referring to the back of your skirt.
“oh,” you say as embarrassment swamps you, and you hurriedly pat at the fabric. “does that look better?”
“it’s still folded there. if you want, i can- may i?”
the question tumbles from his pretty lips and messes with your head. his hand hovers right around your waist, the same way yours lingered on his tie as you waited for his consent. and his softening eyes. his slightly smoldering gaze looks so innocent and alluring at the same time, your heart starts to feel heavy with the weight of desire.
note to self: never wear a pencil skirt again.
“please,” you utter like a silent prayer, and mentally prepare yourself to endure the test of his fingers against your skin.
as soon as he receives your word, his hand lightly brushes against your thigh and trails down your skin. he takes the hem of your skirt and pulls down, giving several tugs before releasing the stretched garment.
he clears his throat when you don’t move even after he’s retracted his hand.
“all good now.”
spencer’s words drown out your thoughts and snap you back to reality. he’s already standing by the door, holding it open for you with a patient smile.
“thanks,” you say as you walk out and rub your hands together, nervous for what you’re about to say next. “spencer, um, i’m so sorry about that whole ordeal, it was really unprofessional of me to drag you in there, i wasn’t thinking when i-”
“you did the right thing,” spencer interrupts your ramble with the shake of his head, and his flawless smile pulls at your heartstrings.
“i would’ve pushed you in there if you hadn't. that door’s the only way in and out if you don’t count the windows,” he continues, slipping his hands into his pockets as he walks you to the elevator.
“oh,” you shyly murmur back, your cheeks flushing with a shade of bright pink as his words pour over you like warm water. he would’ve pushed you in there if you hadn’t?
“yeah, but how about we try a bigger locker next time?” spencer almost reads your mind as he half-mindedly jokes, causing you to drop your jaw in shock. he doesn’t acknowledge your reaction, however, because he starts to dial rossi’s number on his cell.
“by the way, the uh, new look suits you. the grey skirt and all,” spencer says with a lopsided smile before he raises a hand to excuse himself and call rossi. you’re saved the embarrassment of responding when rossi accepts the call, but your palms are already profusely sweating at his compliment.
note to self: maybe wear the pencil skirt again.

Suguru looks past Jin, rock hard beneath the desk. You’re beautiful struggling to maintain your composure. Holding up his hand Jin falls quiet. “Bring me a glass of water.” Smirking when you stiffly stand, clenching your thighs together.
Clenching your thighs together, keeping eyes casted down, clasping your hands in your lap. Biting your lip, fighting for your life not to moan when the vibrator taped to your clit pulses faster.
You’re so close to cumming on Suguru’s sofa with one of his employees explaining their concerns. Soaking your underwear, your cunt clenching nothing. Your ass squeezing the small training plug.
“Yes sir!” Your voice is shaking, your whole body burning, cunt throbbing and tingling from the immense pleasure.
Turning away from Jin’s curious gaze. “As you were saying Mr. Jin.” The vibrations stop, the reprieve is welcoming and disappointing. Your sensitive clit twitches from getting worked up so close and the sudden lack of stimulation.
Opening the fully stocked mini fridge built into the wall, pulling out the bottle of water and a chilled glass from the cabinet beside. The toy vibrates on your soft clit, slapping your hand over your mouth, fighting yourself not to moan.
Ignoring Jin’s drawl, purely focusing on maintaining your slipping composure and not spilling the water. Throwing the plastic bottle into the recycle, grabbing the chilled glass of water, trembling. Getting lost in the sweet pleasure, it vanishes.
Taking a deep breath turning around to face your sugar daddy and his employee. Suguru isn’t looking at you, smiling at Jin. “Thank you for bringing that to my attention, I’ll see to it that’s taken care of, please see yourself out.” Pressing the button under his desk for the doors to slide open.
Jin nods his head, clasping his hands behind his back. “Yes sir, thank you.” Stiffly walking past Jin, grateful he finally leaving. Going around Suguru’s desk. Holding out his glass of water, his warm thick fingers brush your’s.
Pushing himself away from the desk. His thick bulge in his black dress pants, “Good girl, thank you for the water.” Squeezing a handful of your soft ass, you softly gasp, glancing over to where Jin stands on the elevator peering with wide eyes through the closing office doors.
Suguru massages your cheek. the toy vibrate on your soft clit. “Don’t cum, not yet.” Standing up, grabbing your jaw, gently prying you mouth open with his thumb. Taking a sip and spitting it into your mouth. “Swallow, but you can’t cum yet.”
Setting the cup down, unbutton your dress shirt. “Please! I don’t know how much longer I cannnn!” Clenching your trembling thighs together, knees buckling, legs weak. You grab onto Suguru’s hard, thick bicep.
Getting off on his massive height, unable to stop thinking of fat cock he has for you underneath his pants. Stroking his cock through his pants. “A little bit longer, you’re so hot squirming, struggling not to cum just to make me happy.” Tugging your skirt down, for you to step out of.
His phone buzzes, whining when Suguru answers, “Nasty pervert, I’ll fuck her against the glass for you to watch.” Putting his phone on speaker on the desk. “She such a slut she will get off on seeing you stroke your cock to her.” Slipping your shirt off, unclasping your bra, he can’t get them off fast enough.
Tears trickle down your face, Suguru wipes away one with his thumb. “Aw my sweet little slut is crying cause she can’t cum yet.” Turning to face the window, grabbing your leg lifting showing Satoru your sloppy wet cunt.
Begging, crying, cunt dripping. “I’m gonna! Please! I can’t hold back! It’s too much.” Grinding your hips back, Suguru’s hard cock pressed against your lower back.
Satoru unzips his pants, dropping them with his underwear, sitting down, squirting lube into his hand. “Fuck she sound hot whining like that.” Suguru turns you to face the window, lifting your legs giving Satoru standing in large window his office a perfect view.
“Cum!” Thick warm cum splashes into the window, trickling onto the ground. Trying to close your legs, shifting trying to get away from the intense stimulation.
Groaning in admiration, gliding two this fingers into you. “Nnn so warm n wet, perfect little cunt for my fat cock to ruin.” Taking the toy off your clit, tugging on the jewel of the butt plugged.
“You’ve been wearing this for two hours let’s give your ass a break. Mm fuck I can’t wait till I can fuck her into a gabbing cum filled mess.” Gliding the plug out of your ass, setting it on his desk.
Suguru crouches, slapping your ass biting your cheek, enticing soft whimpers. Holding onto your hip to steady you. Your head is fuzzy, legs wobbly, you haven’t cummed that hard before. You want more. “Wanna cum again, please sir take care of my needy cunt.” Spreading your legs, and bending over when he dips his head between, lovingly kissing your soft cunt.
Gliding his finger in, getting off on how your soft cunt take his fingers. “You been such a good slut for me, I’ll take such good care of your sweet tight cunt for you. After you can sit in my lap during the meeting. Then we can go home, have a candle lit dinner.” Biting your ass, sucking roughly groaning, pumping his finger faster.
Satoru’s breathy moans coming through the phone. His jerking his cock faster, sliding his hand through his soft white hair, tugging. His mouth dropping open, checks flushing pink. He slows his pace, smirking and winking at you. “You’re such a beautiful dirty whore getting off on watching me jerk off while he plays with your cunt.”
Smiling at Satoru, “I’m a pretty dirty whore who likes it getting fucked in front of you.” Suguru stands up, squeezing your ass, sliding his hand up your waist. Gently playing with your nipple, biting your shoulder. Tilting your head to the side, he trails kisses up
Satoru pleads “Let her press her beautiful slutty ass on the glass. Lemme see your sloppy beautiful cunt and sweet ass.” Looking up at Suguru for his approval, he spins you around on your high heels.
Unbuttoning his shirt, slipping it off. Suguru is beautiful with his thick pecs, sculpted abs, broad shoulders slim waist and fat cock that rests on thick balls. “Let him see what’s gonna be taking good care of my fat cock.” Admiring your sugar daddy, bending over gliding your fingers into your needy cunt.
You want to cum again despite squirting. Suguru and Satoru always bring out an insatiable lust within you. You’d proudly be their cum stuffed whore.
Buzzing the front desk, “Don’t send or allow any calls through until I say otherwise, take a message if it’s urgent thank you.” Pressing your ass to the cold glass, shivering. Playing with your nipples, soft rubbing them, moaning the moment he lets the button go.
Suguru groans, you love the erotic way he sounds. “Nnn fuck send her over when you’re done, I wanna turn. You can put her plug back in. Wanna see her pretty ass stuffed mmm, gonna cover her soft cheeks in cum.” Grabbing Suguru’s cock, when he comes close, kissing his head.
He grabs your hair roughly turning you around, pinning your tits to the glass, keeping your ass out. Lining his fat, veiny cock up, you spread your legs apart pushing your hips back. “If she can walk sure, but you can’t fuck her ass not yet. Im taking her training slow, no reason not to savor perfection.” Spitting on your ass, smearing it with his thumb, gliding it in.
Keeping a firm grasp on your ass, groaning in pure relief. “Nothing else better than being inside you. Nnn making my legs go weak, you’re too perfect.” Grabbing your wrist, holding it behind your back. Offering your other wrist for him to hold together with one large hand.

ikea meatballs before marriage?
contents ౨ৎ ⋆ touya todoroki x fem reader. fluff. cursing. slightly suggestive. ⭑ your fiancé and you get a little too into playing house when you’re supposed to be furniture shopping for your new apartment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“you’re home early.” touya smirks. an apron you’re ninety-nine percent sure he stole from the aisle showcasing the ovens with ‘i cook as good as i look’ printed on it is tied around his waist.
“i’m home!” you say cheerfully, playing along with him.
you take a moment to study “your” kitchen and droop in disappointment.
it was a bit too dim for your liking, the lighting.
there’s no way you could read the recipe books rei had gifted you without touya having to stand there and hold a flashlight while you did.
but the deep forest green accented cabinets, reaching all the way to the ceiling, were beautiful.
perfect for storing fuyumi’s leftover snacks that her students gifted her yesterday.
she had complained to you over the phone about how there was no space at home since all the cupboards were full of soba noodles, courtesy of your fiancé and little brother-in-law.
touya nervously watches, until he sees as you visibly brighten up, and he lets a little huff out, half in pride, half in relief.
he knew his pick couldn’t be that bad.
then you spot the fake plant hanging from overhead, and grimace as you see a cluster of even more potted plants under it near the toaster.
cute in theory, but definitely a fire hazard.
touya notices the little way your eyebrows furrow with doubt, and casually leans against the edge of the sink to distract you from making any more keen observations.
you giggle at the way he almost knocks off the price tag on it in the process, too busy staring at you to bother noticing.
“how was work?” your favorite fire hazard asks, reaching out a hand to gently brush a stray lash you didn’t notice from your cheek.
your face always feels hotter than usual when touya pulls away, even after all this time.
“ugh, so exhausting,” you fan yourself a bit, let out an exaggerated sigh. “the printer blew up and got toner all over my clothes, can you believe it?”
“aw.” there’s a playful sparkle in his eyes as touya innocently frowns in sugary sweet sympathy. “want me to run a bath for you later?”
you can feel your cheeks start to burn. you just took one with him yesterday!
but of course you find yourself stuttering out, “oh, um sure.”
the memory of his fingers softly massaging your scalp as he helped you wash your hair. the gentlest of touches on your skin as he lathered you in suds, pressing a kiss to your forehead between rinses flood back to you.
you remember trying to wash his hair one time, but he quickly stopped you by trapping you in his lap, insisting that he wanted to do yours first. like he does during every bath he runs for you when you stay over at the todoroki house.
and he would take just as good care of you, your heart knows, in your cozy new apartment that was waiting for you back in shizuoka too.
not too far from home, so that everyone could still visit, but not too close either, so the both of you had your own space.
touya grins as a shy expression suddenly crosses over your face, knowing exactly what you’re thinking about.
with amusement, he watches as you reach over to set your purse on the white marble counter.
a pair of strong hands claim their usual spot on your waist, holding you in place, and then you’re pulled away until your back bumps against a familiar, firm chest.
“uh-uh, mrs. todoroki.” he murmurs softly in your ear. “i just cleaned that for you before you got home.”
your breath catches. mrs. todoroki?
“my bad,” is all you can manage to squeak out.
his nose tickles your cheek in response and you giggle at the feeling of his piercings, cold and soothing against your warm skin.
“so. what do you want for dinner today?” touya says, leaning over you to open the fridge. he scans its empty contents with a face so serious that you have to bite back a laugh.
“what do we have?”
“stale air—i mean,” touya coughs. “uh, salad.”
“that’s it? just salad?” you point an accusatory finger at him, and he snorts at the way you force your eyebrows to scrunch together to make an angry face. so cute.
“oh, you think this is funny? take that apron off right now, you big phony.”
“yes ma’am.” he laughs airily, reaching behind him to undo the tie when his hands stop.
touya turns to you with a pout. “can you do it for me? my fingers hurt from cooking and cleaning all day.”
he makes it so hard to stay mad at him, even as a joke.
you bite your lip to suppress the fond grin growing on your face, but it's too late, touya’s already seen it and he knows you’ll give into him soon enough.
“aw, my poor husband all alone in the house, cooking air and salad. it must’ve been so hard for you.”
he pouts even more. “it really was.”
the giggle you’ve been holding back finally spills from your mouth. he was ridiculous, and you loved him for it. “okay you big baby, i’ll untie it for you.” you move to stand behind him, hands reaching for the back of his waist to untie the neat bow he did for himself earlier.
“i think you mean your big strong husband.” touya leans his weight back into you.
not enough to hurt you or make you fall, but just enough to give you a hard time undoing the knot of his apron.
“sewing machine was acting up like crazy today, had to teach it some manners.”
“i’m sure you did.” you fight back another laugh, which turns into a whine as his broad back leans into your face even more.
“touya stop it! do you want this apron off of you or not?”
you can practically hear him smirk from in front of you.
“i’m okay with anything as long as it keeps your hands on me.”
you step away from him and he lets out a ‘oof!’ as his back thuds against the hard floor of the ikea showroom, taking down a fake plant with him.
touya is donning a new apron when the two of you find yourselves outside of another kitchen showroom.
“‘relax, i’ll feed you bitches.’ it read in bold.
you giggle hysterically as he stands there, hands on his hips and looking way too proud of his find, as you snap a pic to send to the groupchat with his siblings.
i’d rather eat poison, natsuo texts back.
his message is hearted by fuyumi and shoto a few moments later.
a miffed touya reaches over your shoulder to steal your phone, which you easily let go of and surrender like usual with a laugh.
his chin rests on your head, your back pressed to his chest as he perches his upper arms on your shoulders to text back.
after he hits send with a satisfied smirk, the both of you walk onto the set.
the kitchen this time was one with a less colorful theme, yet you hear a sharp intake of breath from touya and you feel your own breath catch in your throat.
the tall windows and generous lighting more than made up for it.
framed paintings of cranes were hung on the slate gray wall behind the dining table, and the refrigerator was much, much larger than the one you saw touya open before.
familiar indigo petals catch your eye. there was a beautiful painting of rindou flowers next to the window in the kitchen, and you can’t help but stare.
“mom would love those.” touya murmurs from beside you. your fingers lace through his as you smile softly in agreement.
“she would.”
still in the second showroom, touya’s rummaging inside the cabinets while you study the spice rack.
imagine all the goodies you could fit in there, from sesame seeds to shichimi togarashi.
you drool thinking about all the miso soups and sweet potatoes you could put them on when he suddenly turns to you.
“i’ve been working on my cocktails while you were at work, by the way.” touya grins, handing you an empty, plastic wine glass from where you’re perched on the granite countertop. “wanna try?”
you raise it to your lips and take a delicate sip of nothing.
“oh yum! what’d you put in it?”
“kale juice.” he snickers behind his hand. “your favorite.”
you make a disgusted face. “well that’d explain the kick to it.”
“right? i really, really think fuyumi and natsuo would like it.”
“touya todoroki, don’t you dare.”
“hey.” he raises both hands in innocence. “a little kale never hurt anyone.”
“you say that but you hate kale.”
“a little kale never hurt anyone unless it’s me.”
you roll your eyes and wrap your arms around his neck. touya’s hands smoothly guide your legs to hug his waist, bringing you closer to him from where you’re sitting on the counter. he stays standing, towering over you.
“can’t believe i’m marrying a hypocrite.” your voice is muffled against his shoulder, and he laughs.
suddenly, you gasp and point at the sink. “touya!”
his eyes widen at your raised voice, instinctively looking behind him for bugs to kill because that’s the only time your tone would sound that alarmed.
touya hugs you closer to him protectively.
you can’t help but melt as his arms wrap even tighter around you, his serious turquoise eyes still scanning around the kitchen for any threats to you.
no bugs.
no tacky “live, laugh, love”-esque sayings framed on the wall.
which he knows is your biggest interior design pet peeve after binging an insane amount of those house flipping shows with you.
“...what is it?” touya finally asks after a moment of hesitation.
you giggle at the ticklish feeling of the cold silver of his lip piercing brushing against your forehead as he speaks.
“the dishes aren’t in alphabetical order!”
touya breathes a sigh of relief, then laughs into your neck.
he pulls away to roll his eyes at you. “you nearly gave me a fucking heart attack!”
“what, why?” you laugh, fluttering your lashes at him. so utterly adorable, that he resists the urge to bite you.
touya fights back a blush and averts his eyes from your face, remembering his protective actions. they had been purely instinctive. he reaches up to cover his face with one hand.
“touuu!” you can’t help but laugh harder, reaching up to pry his fingers away from his face. “come on, look at me!”
touya shyly slides his gaze back to you, and lets you take his hand away from his face.
you lace your fingers through his and lean in to give him a sweet kiss on the lips, which only makes him blush even harder. the chill of the ikea air conditioning did nothing to help.
his eyes trail in the direction of the spice rack you were dreamily looking at earlier.
“why is this crooked?” he frowns, reaching behind you to straighten it.
“pfft is it bothering you?” you take a glance at it. looked okay enough to you.
“yeah it is.” touya’s hands are on the shelf, trying to readjust it into the right position when suddenly—
snap!
the both of your eyes widen at the sound.
the shelf was upright and more centered than before.
except now it had a clean split down the middle of it.
of course, touya chooses to focus on the most important part.
“well at least it looks better now.”
and all he can think about as you laugh into his shoulder is that he can’t wait to stand hip to hip with you in your actual kitchen.
sunshine peeking through the curtains as the two of you make soups, bake each other’s favorite pastries, and indulge in your random middle of the night cravings.
from now until forever.
after lunch in the restaurant, touya adds ikea meatballs to his list of favorite foods.
you’re pretty sure that’s only because you fed them to him.
because while you adore him to pieces, he is an unbelievably picky eater, much to fuyumi’s chagrin.
luckily, he’ll eat anything as long as you’re the one giving it to him.
your sister-in-law thanks you for her lack of headaches when she makes dinner.
in the third kitchen showroom of today, you squint out the window behind the sink.
“i don’t know if i like it.”
“don’t know if you like what?” touya’s still washing his hand in the imaginary water under the faucet that’s clearly never going to start running. his silly self has been there for the past five minutes, at least.
you hold back a laugh at how meticulous he is about it.
“the view.”
he looks up and snorts at the wistful gaze you throw out the obviously fake window.
it had a picture of city scenery taped on the wall outside of it, and the circular shape of a familiar building catches his eye. he recognizes it.
the meguro sky garden in tokyo.
the first place he ever took you out on a date to.
with a fond twitch of his lips, he remembers the way he almost tripped over his feet under the cherry blossom trees when you had suddenly pecked him on the cheek. all those years ago.
touya turns the faucet off, and comes up behind you to lean his head on your shoulder as he wraps his arms around your waist. his eyes soften as you nuzzle against his chin.
he knows that you know he can’t feel any sensations there anymore.
but god, does touya love that you still touch him in the places where he can’t feel.
the way you litter soft kisses under his eyes, stroke his forearms as you guide them to your waist. like they’re still a part of him, like he’s not broken.
like he’s always been whole to you, never any less.
“but sweetheart,” touya muses. “think about how close it's close to the best schools.”
your face heats up as you realize what he’s talking about. like you haven’t thought about it a million times before.
a kid. with him.
his and your kid.
as if the universe read your mind, a very chubby baby being pushed in a cart passes by the opposite side of the window, covering the picture of tokyo’s scenery.
and it stares at touya and you with the judgiest look you’ve ever seen in your life.
the two of you glance sideways at each other and burst out laughing.
“nevermind,” you giggle, feeling small and safe tucked in his strong arms. “maybe the view isn’t so bad.”
looking softly down at you, the beautiful color of your eyes meets his, and his heartbeat quickens.
touya can’t help but agree.
a familiar weight softly rests on your shoulder when you groggily open your eyes, and your fiancé is close to follow as he stirs beside you.
you flip around to face him from where he was spooning you, giggling at the little trail of drool coming from the corner of his mouth as you watch his eyes flutter open.
you feel your breath catch in your throat as you gaze upon him.
his hair is starlight in the morning.
touya, still half-asleep, snuggles against you, completely drunk on your warmth. the soft feeling of your skin against his.
he doesn’t even try to resist it.
the little giddy smile that tugs at his lips whenever the cool feeling silver of your sapphire embedded ring sparkles under the sunlight pooling through the curtains of your shared bedroom as he laces his fingers through yours.
his own ring softly clinking against the one he gave you.
after moving into the privacy of the apartment, with no prying eyes or nosy siblings randomly bursting into his room, touya loves to sleep with his lips just barely grazing your neck.
whenever you wake up from a  nightmare, he’s already kissing the nape of it, the protective hand he has on your hip smoothing circles into your bare skin.
when he wakes from his, you’re already quietly cradling him in your arms, running your hands through his midnight black hair.
you really have no idea how hard you make it for him to get up.
but the idea of seeing you happily smile because of him is what gives him the final push to wriggle out of your embrace, and the adorable little pout you give him  almost breaks his heart.
“where you going, tou?”
he grins cheekily, placing a finger on his lips. “it’s a secret.”
there's a grumble from you in response and he smooths the crinkle between your furrowed brows with a gentle kiss.
“i’'ll be back soon, i promise.”
“you better or i’m eating your last pocky.”
he laughs at your threat, as if he wouldn’t give it up to you the moment you asked.
at the sight of your eyes already starting to droop, touya presses another kiss to your forehead. “go back to sleep, sweetheart.”
“no.” you pout as his socks pad against the floor when he leaves the room with another laugh.
huddled up in your floral patterned blankets, you drink in the faint scent of sweet cologne that lingers on them.
it still smells like him. warm like him, too.
there’s an old photo of touya framed on your nightstand. you love to look at when you fold his and your clothes.
rei had slipped it out of the family album for you to keep the moment she saw how much you liked it.
it’s the one where he’s holding a baby shoto like a football in his arms. there’s an easy grin on his face.
you look at it for a little longer, letting a sleepy, content smile spread across your lips.
until five more minutes pass, and you’re starting to feel impatient.
“shoto!” you call out the doorway in the direction of the guest room you set up for him the day before he came to visit. “what’s your brother doing?”
“cooking.” comes shoto’s soft voice floating down the hallway.
and that’s all it takes for you to get up and rush to the kitchen at lightning speed.
thankfully, the fire alarm hasn’t gone off yet by the time you get there.
you find touya slicing peaches on the counter, in front of the painting of rindou flowers. there’s a plate of neatly assorted fruit next to him, and your eyes widen as you admire the rose-shaped strawberries. how’d he do that?
“hey.” touya’s eyes narrow playfully when he notices you, putting down the knife. “you’re supposed to be in bed.”
you place your hands on your hips.
“and you’re supposed to not be burning our new apartment down.”
throwing a cautious glance at the unmanned pancakes sizzling in the pan beside you, you add on. “with your little brother in it.”
he breathes a laugh and saunters over where you’re standing by the fridge, cornering you to the counter.
your fiancé grins at your stammers when he leans closer. he can practically feel the heat from your cheeks from here, and touya thinks the tiny house plant overhead grows an inch taller from the sheer warmth you’re radiating.
“stove’s off, sweetheart. they’re not gonna burn.”
“o-oh.” you sigh in relief.
“you worry too much.” touya murmurs softly as holds you in place by the waist to hold up a spoonful of blueberries he forgot to add to the batter.
your lips reluctantly part to let him feed you, and his heart skips a beat at the hint of a smile on your face.
“mmph!”
suddenly, touya’s lips are on yours and you taste the sweet tartness of the peach he must’ve had before you came over.
the cold piercing of his tongue teases your mouth and he corners you even further against the cool marble of the counter to make out, just as you hear a pot start to boil and your eyes snap open.
you’re breathless as you muster all your willpower and break away from him.
“touya, the pot!”
“oops.” he glances at it, still caging you against the counter with his arms.
“forgot about that.”
“found your necklace that fell behind the bed last week.” touya says later after breakfast. you’re both sitting on cushions fuyumi and natsuo gifted you at the coffee table in front of the tv, watching ponyo as sunlight seeps into the living room.
it swings it back and forth on his finger and your eyes widen in relief.
“i was looking everywhere for that to wear to shoto’s class party!”
“i know.” he grins, and you sigh as he presses a soft kiss to your neck. of course he did.
touya reaches around your neck to securely clasp the back of the necklace’s chain, a smirk tugging at his lips.
“i think i deserve a little reward.”
you giggle, he was so cute.
“thanks touya.” you say, pressing a kiss to his cheek, and he pouts.
“not there.”
“where then?” you smooth your hands against his bedhead and he almost whines when this time, you press a kiss to his forehead. “here?”
always such a tease, and he adores you for it.
touya looks like a desperate puppy as he huffs, nudging your nose with his.
like you didn’t spoil him with kisses yesterday when he fixed the washing machine that was acting up.
you’re still not totally sure how he did it, but that was probably because you zoned out while he was explaining it to you.
too busy watching the way his forearms flexed as he fixed the pipes behind it and when he’d take whatever wrench or screwdriver he asked you to hand him from the toolbox.
finally, finally your lips find his and you kiss him, soft and sweet.
a cool breeze blows through the open window, and the both of you breathe it in, smelling dewdrops on grass from the rain last night and hints of sunshine.
touya smiles against your mouth, arms pulling you into his lap so he can taste you better.
you’re stuck with him.
from now until forever.

Hi, I absolutely love your writing and i’d thought i’d try to request a remus lupin x reader kinda hurt comfort fic or blurb? Reader comes from a dysfunctional family where her dads alway angry and she feels like she’s walking on egg shells when around him and her mom throws all responsibilities like taking care of younger sibling onto reader so they always feel like they aren’t doing enough and they kind of cary these traits into their relationship with remus? maybe remus comes home from a hard day at work and reader can immediately sense he’s in a bad mood and like gets really quiet and starts working on the house instead of spending time with him bc she thinks he will be mad or something
This was way longer than i intended it to be im sorry😭 and I totally understand if this was too much or a topic that you don’t wanna write about there is no pressure at all!!!
love ya! -anon
Thanks for requesting lovely!

Remus Lupin x fem!reader ♡ 849 words
If the sharp turn of his key in the lock didn’t tip you off to Remus’ mood, the way he shuts the door behind him would. Automatically, your mind starts whirring with the things you can do.
Your boyfriend has barely taken his shoes off before you’re in the kitchen, unloading the overfull dish rack. You’ve no idea how you let it go this long; some of these things have been dry for days. You’re shutting drawers and cabinets as softly as you can, wary of worsening Remus’ irritation with a racket.
“Hey.” He pads into the kitchen, reaching for you.
“Hi.” You smile and give him a kiss. His hands start to come around your waist, but you pull away in favor of grabbing a pot from the rack.
“What’re you up to?” he asks. The exhaustion in his voice has a terse edge that makes your fingertips crackle with nervous energy.
“Just tidying a bit.”
“Want some help?”
“I’m good, thanks,” you reply in your most serene voice. “You’ve only just got home, why don’t you relax?”
Remus hesitates a handful of moments, watching as you go back to whizzing about the kitchen before wordlessly retreating to the living room.
Once the dish rack is empty, you decide to start filling it up again. There’s an unwashed pot on the stove, an old container of leftovers in the fridge, and a handful of dishes on the coffee table. You make yourself as scarce as you can when you go to retrieve the last. Remus is still emanating traces of a worn-thin temper from where he sits on the couch, reading his book, and you try to minimize the clatter of the dishes as you stack them. When there’s a sigh, you try even harder.
“Would you stop for a second?”
You freeze in your tracks. “Stop what?”
“Just,” he shakes his head, frustrated, “put the dishes down.”
You obey wordlessly.
Remus looks at you with something you can’t decipher in his expression. “Now would you come here, please?”
You walk over to him, tensing for—you don’t know what. You don’t think Remus would hit you, and he doesn’t seem like he’s going to shout. You’re stiff with anticipation nonetheless.
He reaches for you. You wrap your arms around his shoulders, slotting against him naturally, the way you always do. Remus presses both palms into your back, hugging you tighter than usual but not enough to hurt.
He nuzzles his face into your neck. “What’s going on with you?” he asks, and he sounds like the soft, grumbly version of himself that tells you to stop fidgeting at 4 a.m. before trapping you in his hold. You start to relax.
“You seem like you’ve had a hard day,” you say. Not quite an admittance, but close.
“I have,” Remus agrees. “I was hoping to come home and relax with you. Maybe have a kiss if you were feeling generous.” His teasing comforts you further, and you don’t flinch when he adjusts his hold so he can look you in the eyes. “Are you being weird because you know I’m in a bad mood?”
When he puts it like that it sounds so silly. This is how you’ve learned to be around hot tempers, quiet and useful, but of course Remus would want someone to console him. To be with him instead of hiding away.
“I’m sorry,” you breathe out. Your hands smooth over his shoulders, a belated comfort.
He sighs, and this time when you hear the frustration in the sound you know it’s not meant for you. Remus takes your face in both hands, pressing a firm kiss to your brow before resting his own against it.
“Nobody’s angry with you,” he says softly.
“I know,” you reply just as quietly. “If I think about it, I know you wouldn’t be. It’s just…”
“Old habits die hard?” he guesses. There’s a wry twist to his tone.
You hum apologetically.
Remus lets his cheek slide along yours, pulling you in for another hug. This one is gentler, his hand running the length of your back and squeezing in all the right places. “It’s okay,” he reassures you. “I’m sorry I came home so cross, sweetheart. I never want to worry you.”
“I like to worry about you a little,” you tease, and you can sense the reward of your boyfriend’s smile spreading unwillingly over your shoulder. “And it’s not fair to expect you not to have any bad feelings around me. That’s just normal.”
Remus hums thoughtfully. “What if we try this: when you’re feeling like I’m upset, you just say something and we’ll talk about whether it has anything to do with you. Do you think that would work for you?”
You turn your head to rest your cheek on his shoulder. Remus’ palm cruises down the curve of your spine as you let out a breath. “Yeah, I think so. Thanks.”
“Thank you, lovely.” He tucks his chin to skim a kiss over your temple. “This is just what I needed. I feel better already.”

you’re a mean one mrs grinch II a.putellas x reader
"more?" alexia sighed in disbelief as you returned from your shopping trip, bags of decorations in hand. "yes. its december!" you rolled your eyes, reaching up to peck her lips hello ignoring her grumpy mumblings at your holiday habits.
"it looks like a shopping store window in here." alexia crinkled her nose in disgust as you had already started to put out your new decorations.
"well not everyone hates the holidays as much as you amor." you quipped, the girl rolling her eyes and helping you hang the north pole sign you had in your hands as you were just not tall enough to reach the hook.
"i do not hate christmas." "well you don't love it." "because it is all about money and presents and lies and flashy things. it is corrupt!" "sure sounds like you hate it."
"oh! wait here." you held up a hand cutting her off before she could speak, the catalan rolling her eyes and checking you were out of sight as she rushed around hiding a few of the ornaments sat around on the tv cabinet and mantle.
"look, matching!" you beamed happily holding up the matching sets of pyjama pants and tank tops, alexia grimacing at the sight of them. "princessa i am not wearing that." she refused stubbornly with a shake of her head.
"just during the night when we watch movies. no one has to even see them! they're just for me and you." you smiled softly as alexia sighed and you perked up as it looked as though she might give in.
"...no." the midfielder decided, taking a seat on the lounge.
"please alexia!" you groaned, no amount of pouting or puppy eyes getting your girlfriend to even budge an inch. "no." the girl replied bluntly, arms crossed over her chest as she leaned back into the lounge staring up at you.
"why? you're being unreasonable." you huffed, crossing your own arms and staring right back. "no." was all you got back, the older girl unwavering in her firm stare. "baby." you tried again, moving to sit down on top of her with a smile as she raised an eyebrow.
"no."
you threw your head back and groaned loudly, standing up and storming off to the bedroom. alexia watched you go, contemplating going after you but instead deciding to give you a little space and time to cool off.
"amor." you glanced up from your book with a sour glare around a half an hour later, eyes flicking back down to the pages in front of you. "bebita." she took a seat on the edge of the bed as you huffed and continued to ignore her.
"hermosaa." alexia sang out, hand reaching out to gently tug the book away and place it on the nightstand, shuffling closer to you. "no." you mocked her word from earlier sarcastically.
"you know i do not go all out for christmas." alexia's hand settled on your knee, giving it a gentle squeeze. "but it is my favorite holiday and you will not even meet me halfway." you protested. "ugly matching clothes are not halfway amor." alexia chuckled, missing the way the hurt flashed across your face at her words.
"fine." you felt a surge of anger replace the pang of pain in your stomach, pushing her hands off and storming out of the room. "hey cariño what-" her eyebrows furrowed into a frown as you began to yank down the decorations and toss them into a pile on the floor.
"what? you hate it anyway, you think it is stupid and meaningless and-" you struggled through your waves of emotions to get your words out, instead huffing and now turning to the tree continuing to pull things down, alexia's eyes widening in shock as your destruction continued.
"hey bebita no, stop por favor." alexia frowned moving to take your hands in hers, trying to pull your body in for a hug as you harshly shoved her away. "i need some air." was all you managed out, grabbing your jacket and shoes by the door and suddenly it was slamming closed and you were gone.
alexia tried calling you over and over, her worry increasing as you declined her calls again and again and the magnitude of just how much she upset you began to sink in, immediately followed by the guilt.
her hand was on the front door ready to try and find you when her phone rang, the device falling from her grip and clattering to the floor in her haste to answer, the brunette dropping to her knees and rushing it to her ear.
"hola? amor?" she breathed out without bothering to check her caller ID. "hola, grinch." alexia frowned at the unfamiliar term. "mapi?" the midfielder sighed, standing to her feet and shifting the phone against her ear.
"you have really upset her ale." the brunette wincing at the serious tone from her normally playful best friend. "is she with you? i will come now." alexia grabbed her keys and flung open the door, two steps down the hall before mapi discouraged her.
"she has gone for a drive with ingrid to see the lights display down main street. something i know she wanted to do with you!" mapi's tone softened a little as alexia sighed, retreating back into her home, yanking her jacket off and dejectedly making her way back to the sofa.
"there are a lot of things she had planned to do with you, she showed me a list she has on her phone. have you done anything for the holidays with her since the break started?" mapi questioned as alexia winced.
"...no."
"alexia." mapi sighed in disappointment from the other end of the line as the midfielder sank down into the sofa. "she is from england capi. christmas is a very big deal there and she has grown up always celebrating, always with her family, probably doing their own special traditions." mapi started to remind her friend in a warning tone.
"but she chose to stay here with you this year, to spend time with you and your family. but you cannot expect her to just forget everything she has grown up with and knows. this is not easy for her, i am sure she misses her family and how they spend the holidays together." the defender lectured as alexia sighed, body now wracked with guilt.
"she could have gone home! i told her that." alexia sighed rubbing a hand against her face tiredly. "bah ale! that girl loves you amiga and she knows how much your family mean to you. especially during the break in season when you get to see them more, and we both know how much your mami loves her." mapi laughed as alexia finally cracked a small smile, the fact truer than she often cared to admit.
"so i am not asking you to lead a christmas parade or dress up like santa clause and hand out gifts. but at least try to make sure there are things she does not need to miss during the holidays." mapi finished, the two chatting for a few more minutes before alexia ended the call and tossed her phone aside.
she had some serious work to do.
"and you know you are welcome to our house anytime yes?" ingrid asked for what felt like the tenth time this evening as you laughed, pushing her lightly and assuring you understood.
the two of you had bonded over both choosing to remain in spain for the holidays, missing the typical snowy white winters you were used to for the women you loved.
"i should get inside. i need to apologise for leaving and not even answering her calls, she is probably worried sick." you sighed, unbuckling yourself as ingrid pulled you into a tight hug and you kissed her cheek, thanking her for listening before you stepped out of the car.
sending your girlfriend a text that you were on your way up you bounced nervously on the balls of your feet as the elevator seemed to take even longer than usual to reach your floor, your hands playing with the hem of your jumper as finally the doors opened.
your eyebrows raised in surprise to see the taller girl already waiting for you outside your shared apartment, relief flooding her face at the sight of you as she met you halfway in a bone crushing hug.
"i'm sorry for leaving and ignoring you." you mumbled into her chest as she cradled your head and firmly shook hers. "i am sorry for being unreasonable hermosa." the catalan rasped apologetically, the two of you embracing one another for a few more silent but needed moments.
"did you enjoy the lights?" alexia asked once the two of you pulled away as you gave her a curious look. "mapi called, let me know you were okay." you nodded in understanding at that. "they were really nice." you smiled in response to her previous question.
"maybe we could go? take alba and mami?" alexia asked hopefully as now you really gave her a look of surprise. "but i didn't think-" she cut off your words by leaning down and pressing a kiss to your lips. "close your eyes please." she pulled away and requested with a smile of reassurance.
you were aprehensive to do so but you followed her orders none the less, alexia moving behind you and covering your face with her large hands 'just to be safe'.
you heard her key rattle around in the lock for a moment before she guided you inside, steadying you as you tripped over once of her shoes and almost lost your footing. a kiss to the cheek and a soft apology murmured in your ear she continued to guide you as you tried to work out where in the house you were right now.
"open." you felt her hands drop from your face as your eyes opened, blinking a few times to adjust before your hand flew to your mouth and you looked on in awe. "alexia..." you trailed off, not just the living room but now your whole apartment decked out in various matching christmas decorations.
you melted seeing the stockings hung up, making your way over to them and tracing a singular finger over the letters on the bottom of each one indicating one was clearly yours and one was alexia's.
"i am stubborn cariño, i know that." you turned as the brunette in question began to speak, nervously playing with her fingers.
"but you have always loved me and stood by me. you gave up christmas with your own family to spend time with mine and i appreciate that more than i have allowed you to see, which is unfair." she paused as you moved closer, grabbing her hands in yours with a squeeze.
"i still do not love christmas, i never will. but i love you and i do not want you to have to give things up that you love and find special because i am a...how do you say it?" you frowned at her obvious struggle, the girls broken english though not perfect had improved since meeting you, as had your spanish.
"ah mierda mapi said it before! a gringo? no. a gri-" she continued to struggle, huffing in frustration. "a grinch?" you guessed as she exlaimed happily and nodded. "si! a grinch."
"do you even know what that is?" you laughed, moving to wrap your arms around her as she shook her head, lips moving against yours sending your head into a spin. "its perfect ale, and i love you too." you smiled resting your head against her chest.
"you are perfect hermosa." she smiled charmingly, kissing your cheeks with a grin as you blushed. "i would like to watch a movie." you stated suddenly, brushing away her hands and gesturing for her to sit down.
"one more thing. stay here!" alexia gently pushed you to sit down instead, holding up a finger and hurrying away. you busied yourself texting mapi a thank you, not hearing her return until she cleared her throat.
"good?" alexia asked, your hand covering your mouth as she stood dressed in one set of the matching pyjamas you'd gotten the pair of you, a santa hat sitting lopsided on her head. "very good." you beamed, alexias heart melting at the way your eyes lit up, silently promising herself she would never let them dim.
once you'd hurried off to change into your own set the two of you had cuddled up together on the lounge, your back settled against alexia's front as you flicked through trying to find the movie, her hands massaging your shoulders as she laid soft kisses to your neck.
"this one." you beamed, clicking play and laying back down into her more, her arms snaking around your torso and settling on your stomach as your own fingers interlocked with yours.
"how the grinch stole christmas?"

The Arrangement (9) - The Arrangement
Tumblr media
Chapter summary: Ava proposes an arrangement, and things get out of control with Astarion... once again.
Pairing: Astarion x female!Tav
Warnings: 18+. Alcohol. Innuendo. Body worship. (almost) Fingering. Sexual tension.
Word count: 6k
Series masterlist . Ao3
Ava extended the palm of her hand across the table, expecting you to comply with her silent request.
But you weren’t so easily swindled, especially when too much of her story was beginning to rub you the wrong way.
As such, you feigned complying by placing your hand atop hers, whilst your other carefully unsheathed the dagger at your hip.
Her face held a honeyed smile that you didn’t return, and your watchful eyes followed her every move,
But before her knife could come close to your skin, you got on your feet, sending the chair sliding across the floor before you made a lunge for her, plucking her from her seat with one hand and pressing her back against the cabinet behind, your dagger firmly held against the side of her neck.
She did try to swing the knife in her hand, but you immediately caught hold of her wrist and squeezed tight until she dropped it on the floor.
“Sharp reflexes,” she noted with a curt smile.
You held her in place with the weight of your body, the sharp edge of your blade ready to slice through her skin.
“You sound surprised.”
She smiled again. “It is uncommon for sorcerers to be so skillful with anything but a staff and fancy hand flourishes.”
“Not many have the opportunity to learn from a seasoned rogue.”
Astarion had taken a liking to honing your dexterity, even when constantly remarking you’d never rival his.
However, in this particular moment, it did come in handy and his teachings had paid off.
“Unfortunately for you,” Ava said, her smile dropping slightly. “You are not the only one with tricks up their sleeve.”
And before you could question her remark, you felt the cool sting of metal tapping against your neck, just above the faint bite marks from the night before.
For a moment, the grip on your dagger faltered, but you quickly regained composure, not easing the blade pressed against her skin.
“This is coated in a most agonising poison.”
You offered a devious smile. “What a coincidence – so is mine.”
“Astarion’s?”
“Touché.”
A homebrew recipe that he had once shared with you.
Travelling together with Astarion had given you the opportunity to broaden your skill set and that covered knowing how to brew most basic poisons.
She did look far too amused for someone who you could easily incapacitate should she stray but a little.
“And here I thought we had made some progress.”
Her taunt made you snap at once. “How much of an idiot do you take me for?”
She arched an eyebrow. “Idiot?”
You pushed harder into her, causing the glass jars inside the cabinet to rattle. “Your story sounds a little too convenient. You were a monster hunter for decades, then had a sudden change of heart, and tracked down Astarion to aid him,” your words were venomous enough to match the poison coating your blade. “I’m sorry if I have a hard time believing someone could just abandon their principles all at once and even go as far as to kill their own kin.”
Her arm was gripping yours, but you didn’t flinch, your eyes boring into hers. “You don’t have to believe me. I wouldn’t either, to be frank. However, you shouldn't be passing judgement when it comes to others having changes of heart.”
You remained silent.
“You took a leap of faith with Astarion, did you not? You trusted him even after learning he could easily turn on you,” she went on, her voice now firm and low. “But he didn’t. He proved he could change, even when it goes against his very nature as a vampire spawn.”
Another wave of anger flared inside you.
How could she even compare this situation to that of Astarion’s? She was nothing like him. She didn’t know the first thing about the two of you.
“You utter sweetened words and use my bond with him to make me sway,” you said in a low warning tone. “But I simply don’t like you. It’s not even about you wanting my blood – it’s how you so easily take and take from him and expect me to compactuate with it.”
Ava scoffed, trying to push you off of her but to no avail. “So is that why you’re here? To stake your claim?”
" Claim? Astarion is his own person.”
She chuckled darkly. “Yet here you are, speaking on his behalf. Enlighten me on how that works.”
Her words tore through your flesh more effectively than the knife she held to your neck ever could.
You immediately let go of her as if suddenly burned by her touch and took a few steps back, falling silent.
Was that the impression you gave her? That you were taking away his free will on this matter? Would he think the same if he knew how close you had been to sinking your dagger into her?
Shame.
Guilt.
Your chest felt impossibly heavy from the weight of your doubts, and you dropped your arm at your side at once.
Ava adjusted her dress as she straightened up, but there was no triumphant smile on her face. “I am not the enemy. You don’t have to trust me – Hells, you don’t have to like me – but he does to an extent, and I already said that I do not take a single drop of his blood without his full consent, as I won’t take yours.”
It was starting to overwhelm you just how hard Ava was to decode. You wanted to trust her word and to believe that helping her with your own blood could be helpful to Astarion in the long run, especially if there were people out there who wanted to hurt both of you.
But you just couldn’t bring yourself to fully digest her reasoning without asking the proper questions and double checking.
You were once told: “Never swallow before chewing.”
“Why did you kill your group, then? Why not just leave?”
Ava’s pleasant features turned sour as she returned to her seat. “There are no fiercest shackles than those of the mind. I know it. Astarion knows it,” she said nonchalantly, placing her knife on the table. “Not that I expect you to resonate with this as I’m sure you’ve lived a sheltered life.”
You’re wrong…
On so many levels.
But you weren’t going to give her leverage on your past.
Not even Astarion was aware of the intricate details of your upbringing.
“Sorcerers are born with an innate talent for magic wielding,” she went on, her eyes fixed on you. “I wouldn’t be surprised if your family in Baldur’s Gate ranked up high with the rest of the nobles.”
You narrowed your eyes, lips still pressed shut.
It was unfair that she was drawing all these assumptions in regards to you when they couldn’t be further from the truth.
There had never been privilege.
The magic coursing through your body was what made you nearly lose it all once…
But silence was your best weapon now.
“Not everyone has that privilege – I know I didn’t. I was forced to do the bidding of others, because that was all I knew growing up until Astarion’s case put things into perspective. Sure, I did expand my knowledge on Alchemy here and there, but I was never allowed to openly practice it,” there was a faint hint of sorrow in her voice that nearly made you feel sorry for her. Nearly. “So long as they lived, I would never be truly free as they would make sure I’d painfully regret leaving them. But I was done hunting those who could use a second chance, which was exactly what you offered Astarion.”
Her answer absolutely floored you.
Your mind wanted her explanation to not make any sense.
You wanted a reason to hate her.
A reason to tear her bond with Astarion to smithereens.
Yet here she was, giving you seemingly truthful justifications to her deeds, which further troubled your heart and mind and completely defied your anger.
Eventually, you slid your dagger back in its holster with a long sigh. “Who’s after us?”
She crossed her legs. “I have my suspicions, but I need more time.
As much as you wanted to take her vague answer at face value, your common sense spoke louder this time.
“How can I be sure you’re not just feeding me some fable to cover up your own tracks?”
She chuckled almost in disbelief. “You truly are a tough one to crack, no doubt. I have a solid alibi, if that is what you’re requesting.”
“Go on.”
She paused briefly as if pondering her next words. “I was with a patriar.”
Hold on…
“Who?” you immediately shot back.
“Someone from the Parliament of Peers.”
Now, this piqued your interest. “ Who?”
“Rob Sorel.”
The wealthy baldurian merchant with an uncanny reputation for being ruthless when his interests were involved? The man whose wealth could easily overshadow that of a duke?
That seemed like a stretch.
A very unsettling stretch.
You crossed your arms. “And what were you doing with such an influential patriar, especially so late at night?”
Ava gave you a long and hard look, lips tugged upwards, unveiling her amusement.
Oh.
Oh.
“His influence reaches beyond Baldur’s Gate and I am able to gain exclusive access to wares that aid my research.”
You felt tempted to ask what the trade off was, but judging from the way her face twisted deviously, you could tell it probably revolved around carnal pleasure, which you refused to know the sordid details of.“Feel free to have Wyll cross-check this information as I’m sure Rob has mentioned my name.”
This nearly sent off alarm bells ringing in your head. “Wyll had never heard your name before I told him.”
She chuckled again, drumming her nails on the wooden surface of the table. “Oh, but he has . Ava is short for Avalar. I have had long dealings with Rob and he will uphold my alibi. Feel free to ask.”
Against your better judgement, you began to feel less… wary of her.
Not that you were able to fully let go of your gut feeling, but every answer was delivered with almost no hesitancy on her part and, truth be told, you would quickly be able to catch her if this involvement with a patriar was nothing but a desperate lie.
A sudden knock on the door made you jolt in place.
It was Wyll. “We ought to get going. Are you done?”
Your eyes remained fixed on her. “Yes. We're just going over some details.”
He didn't reply again and you saw Ava raise her eyebrows. “Details?”
You ignored her remark. “Will you try to track whoever is after us, then?”
“I will.”
You swallowed. “What's the price?”
She rose to her feet and took slow yet sure steps towards you until she was close enough for you to fully see the olive green colour of her eyes.
“Let's just say our interests are temporarily aligned.”
Bullshit.
“You wanted my blood.”
“I want your blood, yes. But I will settle with running a few more experiments after he's fed on you, if you accept this condition, that is.”
As far as you were concerned, you would rather she stopped meddling with anyone's blood, but Astarion seemed so confident in her promises…
Maybe there was a chance of success… maybe she could truly help with their hunger.
Maybe.
“Only after you tell Astarion about this discovery of yours in regards to his blood mixing with mine,” you said firmly. “Or I will.”
She nodded, offering a sweet smile.
“Don't think of this as payment, though. A mere transaction. An arrangement, if you will.”
You were starting to dread that term as of late. It was as if everything revolved around transactions and that it was the only way people knew how to properly function and establish relationships with others.
Slowly, you nodded and, for the second time that night, Ava extended her hand to you, only this time you took it in yours.
A mysterious smile settled on her lips until you pulled her closer to you, lowering your voice, “I still don’t trust you.”
“I’d be disappointed if you did.”
You glared intensely into her eyes, hardening your face. “Any small step in the wrong direction, and you’ll hear from me.”
She nodded. “Deal.”
Then you gave her a firm shake before letting go and exiting her room without even looking back, as you were in dire need to distance yourself from the overwhelming events of tonight.
Wyll hurried to your side, glaring at you inquisitively. “So? What did you find out? Is she to be trusted?”
“Do you know a woman who goes by Avalar?”
He tapped his chin pensively for a moment. “Avalar? That name does sound familiar. Wait – she is Avalar? The merchant?”
You nodded as you made your way down the staircase, feeling the uncomfortable and draining presence of the mage slayer right behind you.
“She is connected to Rob Sorel, right?”
He hesitated at first, grabbing your arm and bringing you to an abrupt halt as you reached the bottom of the stairs.
“Lord Sorel isn’t one to trifle with idly. If she is indeed who she claims to be, then we must keep an eye on her.”
You felt a shiver run down your spine, already feeling that you might have given her the benefit of the doubt too quickly.
Wyll turned to one of the Fists by his side and gave him a silent command to which the man nodded and exited the tavern.
“She said she was with him on the night we were caught, and that Sorel will vouch for her.”
The commotion around the two of you from the rowdy and very much intoxicated crowd made it nearly impossible to hold a proper conversation.
“I will dig around,” he said with a raise of his voice, guiding you to the door.
But you yanked free from him, which earned a wary look from the other Fist.
“I need a drink. Please.”
The Fist spoke before he could, “My Lord, I don’t think we should linger any longer.”
You rolled your eyes and promptly made your way to the counter, squeezing past a few smelly individuals who grumbled in
Bork appeared rather quickly in front of you, and you blinked twice.
“What can I get you, missy? ”
Wyll was by your side at lightning speed. “Are you sure you want to have a drink? Now?”
You never felt a particular interest in indulging in alcoholic beverages, but you craved it now more than ever.
“A pint, please.”
Bork’s lips parted into a devious smile and you tapped your fingers impatiently as he shifted to work on your request.
“You are not one to hold your liquor, if I remember correctly, my friend,” Wyll noted, already placing one gold piece on the counter. “Mayhap you ought to take a sip or two before we leave.”
He was absolutely correct, but you also needed a quick way to numb your restless mind.
At worst you’d get a bit too intoxicated.
At best, you’d find a way to, hopefully, sleep through what was left of this night.
As Bork set the mug in front of you and eagerly collected his payment, you grabbed it with both hands and proceeded to down the sweet liquid.
In one go.
Wyll’s hand tried to ease your eagerness, but you slapped it away with a chuckle.
“Why do I have the feeling I will have to carry you home after this?”
By the time you were through with the ale, you realised you had made a severe mistake.
If Wyll had not been there to steady your unbalanced feet, you would have certainly tripped on the nearby stool.
Fuck…
Tumblr media
By the time you made it back home, it was more than evident you should not have drunk all of it.
But it seemed that your brain was starting to morph a sense of guilt into finding anything within your grasp to be rather hilarious.
Even when you almost bumped into the mage slayer stationed outside your house.
You gave them a wide grin and a pat on the shoulder as if he couldn’t easily split you in half.
Wyll pushed the  door open and guided you inside with both hands gripping your shoulders for added support.
“Easy now. Mind the step.”
You completely disregarded his warning, which led to you almost losing balance if not for his strong arm that looped around yours, pulling you back.
You giggled.
He was truly a sweetheart.
Inside, you were met with the dim flickering of a few candles that provided enough brightness to spot the love of your life.
Wait.
Love of your life?
Scratch that. What a ridiculous overstatement.
“What in the sweet Hells took you so long?” Astarion said with a scowl, rising from his chair and heading straight towards you like an arrow.
You giggled again, throwing your arms in the air. “You stayed up and waited for me!”
Astarion halted abruptly in front of you, hands on both hips. “I don’t sleep as I’m sure you’re aware. What is wrong with you?”
Wyll patted your back reassuringly. “She…drank a pint, and – well… this is the result.”
Suddenly, there were two Astarions standing next to each other and you yelped in shock, flinching back.
“Why are there two of you?” you asked, pointing at them.
Both of them cocked an elegant eyebrow. “Two of what?”
Odd.
They moved and spoke in perfect unison.
If one Astarion was already such a headache at times, you couldn’t even begin to fathom what two Astarions would be capable of.
Driven by curiosity, you tried to reach out to one of them with your hand, but grasped nothing but air as your vision corrected itself and only one Astarion was left.
Really odd.
But entertaining.
He quickly gripped your gesticulating arm by the wrist. “Will you stop it? You’ll hurt yourself.”
The sudden proximity made your stomach turn dangerously, but you were far too amused to care. “ You’ll hurt yourself ,” you mimicked poorly, earning another scowl.
“I let you out of my sight for a few hours and this is the result,” he said with a sigh, then turning to Wyll. “Why would you let her drink a whole pint?”
Wyll rubbed the back of his neck. “She insisted, and I figured she could use the distraction.”
“What happened with Ava?” Astarion pressed.
Oh, Gods… not her again. “Will everyone please stop talking about her? Gods!”
He then pulled you closer to him, not letting go of your wrist, but easing his grip.
His beautiful eyes met yours and you felt yourself swoon, feeling the image of Ava dissipating into thin air.
Gods… he was the most beautiful man to ever grace this earth, no doubt.
Books should be written on his beauty and songs should be sung in his honour.
You felt yourself smile widely at him, feeling a rush of heat flood your face.
You’re so handsome…
His brows immediately furrowed.
Oh.
Shit.
You had said that aloud.
But you stood by it.
Astarion was so very handsome.
The only man who could make you yearn for him and have your heart and soul enamoured by all of him.
Then his face gradually softened. "Well, good thing there are no newshounds nearby. Can you imagine the headlines in tomorrow’s paper about the hero of Baldur’s Gate making a fool of themselves?”
You felt so giddy and drunk in his beauty that you just nodded at every word that spilled from those full lips that you wish you could just–
Whatever you say, handsome…
“Where’s Shadowheart?” you heard Wyll ask.
Astarion shrugged. “No one else is here, and it’s not as if I’m their mother.”
He was so snarky and it just made you almost melt under his touch.
“I can stay if need be.”
You rapidly turned to face Wyll, and immediately felt dizzy as Astarion steadied you.
“Please stay! We can have a party!” you suggested with a dramatic pout.
Behind you, Astarion scoffed. “I’m quite sure dear Wyll is busy with his Duke duties, darling.”
Wyll chuckled. “I always make time for my friends.”
“Well, I can take it from here,” he retorted and you could spot a hint of disdain in his voice.
So attractive…
Astarion then lifted your arm and wiggled your wrist. “Say goodbye to Wyll, sweetheart.”
You giggled dramatically again. “Goodbye Wyll!”
He took a step forward and placed a gentle kiss on your forehead. “I’ll be back tomorrow once I have an update on what we discussed.”
Astarion pulled you away from him at once with a gasp. “Keeping secrets from me? Oh, you two lovebirds.”
Hold on!
No! You weren’t that close to Wyll.
As you were about to protest, Wyll spoke, “If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you sound jealous, Astarion.”
“What is there to be jealous of, I wonder?”
You nodded vehemently, finding it utterly amusing how he sounded so territorial all of a sudden.
Adorable man.
Wyll gave a lighthearted chuckle before turning to leave. “Well, I’m sure I can think of a few reasons.”
You laughed way too loudly at his remark, which caused Astarion to click his tongue in annoyance.
Adorable.
The door closed shut behind him, and Astarion immediately spun you on your feet to fully face them.
“What were you thinking? Drinking a pint?”
You couldn’t care less about what he had to say in this moment, and simply glared at his face, your hazy mind reminding you just how much you adored him.
And before you could restrain yourself, the words tumbled from your mouth. “I… I really like you.”
Idiot.
A deafening silence settled around you, and you began to feel an increasing wave of nausea as he merely glared at you.
Then you giggled, trying to disperse the awkwardness as fast as possible.
He didn’t laugh with you, tugging at your hand instead. “I think it’s time to get some sleep, darling.”
Too bad you were clearly incapable of walking in a straight line, which earned his attention. Without a warning, you felt your balance shift rapidly as he scooped you in his arms, effortlessly carrying you along the dim corridor.
“Put me down! Astarion!”
Instinctively, you looped your arms around his neck for support, but still trying to wriggle out of his fierce hold.
“I don’t need to be carried… please put me down,” you whined. “I - I will curse you!”
An amused smile tugged at his lips. “How very ferocious of you. I suppose we should have gotten you drunk more often back then. I’m sure our foes would have fled in horror at the sight of you.”
You slumped into him with a pout. “Mean.”
He pushed the door to your room open with a nudge from his shoulder, before easing you back on your two feet again.
The room was plunged in darkness and you felt him shift away from you, setting alight a single candle next to your bed, and you blinked a few times to adjust to the clarity.
You were now entering the less amusing stage of your insobriety and you could feel yourself scowl at him, clumsily crossing your arms.
“I should have hexed you.”
“Darling, the only thing you’ll be hexing in that state is a doorknob.”
You snorted at his playful jab. “I was perfectly capable of walking!”
“Into a wall? Yes, indeed.”
He then moved back to your side, helping you out of your cloak and quickly wrapping a blanket around you.
The simple gesture was enough to melt your defiant demeanour at once.
The two of you stood there in silence, eyes locked and you found yourself wishing he’d kiss you, but you knew he never would.
Astarion valued consent above all else, and he would not cross any lines. Each time you had gotten ahead of yourself in terms of sobriety, he always reigned you in.
And that was just one of the many things you adored about him.
How safe he made you feel and how you knew he’d never take advantage of your vulnerability.
“You need to properly rest,” he urged, ensuring the thick fabric around you was tucked properly in place.
Just as you were about to head to bed, you felt the room tilt to the left and you yelped, clutching onto him for support.
“I’m going to fall!”
The walls around you began to swirl and sway and your own legs wobbled.
A genuine laughter rumbled across his chest as he patted your back. “You silly little goose. Your warped mind is playing tricks on you.”
That term of endearment caught you slightly off guard and your heart fluttered.
Gods…
Why was he so easy to love?
Or was this the alcohol talking? Were you truly so far gone, that the alcohol was merely making it easier to surface your feelings?
Either way, you wouldn’t voice them, and allowed him to guide you to your bed, helping you to slip under the bedsheets.
It felt rather good being taken care of this way.
Maybe he didn’t think of this as anything but a nuisance, but you were grateful, nonetheless.
“Thank you…” you mumbled in a whisper, gripping his hand.
The ceiling was now begging to spin dangerously fast and you had to close your eyes to help with the overwhelming sensory overload.
He didn’t reply back, but you felt him tugging his hand away from your grasp.
A sudden shiver of panic coursed through your body. “Please stay? You always leave…”
Please…
He relaxed his cool hand against yours.
Slowly, you peeled back an eyelid only to see him easing onto the spot next to you over the covers.
You turned on your side to glare at him and he mimicked you, meeting your eyes in silence.
“How do you feel?”
In love.
“Well…”
He nodded and you smiled warmly at him, probably looking rather silly, but too mesmerised by his face to even look away.
“May I touch you?” you asked hesitantly.
He arched his brow, but nodded.
You lifted your hand and with a single finger, you began to slowly trace the bridge of his nose, admiring how he didn’t just look perfect…
He felt perfect…
“You’re so beautiful…” you sighed, feeling the slight bump of his nose as you trailed down to his lips. “So… so beautiful.”
He chuckled deviously. “I’m all for praise, darling… do go on.
And you wanted to, but you were beginning to feel lightheaded, and your hand dropped from his face and your eyes dropped close.
“Or not…” you heard him say.
His voice seemed so distant now as drowsiness enveloped your senses. A part of you wished you could trace all of his face with the pad of your finger, worshipping every inch of him.
“Please, don’t leave…” you found yourself repeating.
He clicked his tongue. “I will if you vomit on me.”
You giggled, managing to shift closer to his body and rest your head on his still chest. “Deal, handsome…”
Your heated body welcomed his coldness, and it didn’t take long for your busy mind to progressively quiet down as you drifted off into a pleasant sleep.
Tumblr media
It was the soft click of a door being shut that roused you from your sleep. With eyes still closed, you flipped onto your back with a pained groan as your body was hit with the aftermath of last night.
“Rise and shine,” Astarion’s honeyed voice filled the room.
You stretched yourself with a yawn, feeling your mouth dry as sawdust and an overwhelming thirst that nearly made you sob.
“I’m never drinking again…” you whined pitifully.
The mattress dipped slightly next to you. “Well, how do you feel today?”
“Like death…”
“Your breath definitely reeks of it,” he said, voice dripping with disapproval. “I drew you a bath, as I anticipated you’d need one.”
At this, your eyes flew open. “Is this your chivalrous way of telling me I stink?” you grumbled, trying to make sense of your surroundings.
The curtains were no longer drawn and the faint light bleeding from the top and bottom was enough to tell you the sun had already risen.
He took your hand in his, tugging gently until you were sitting in front of him with your legs crossed. “Darling, you’re free to bask in that dreadful stench for all I care.”
You shot him a serious glare before bursting into laughter. “Good point. I need to get off these clothes…”
Astarion helped you on your feet and you carefully paced across the wooden floor and into the washroom.
A pleasant smell hit you as you stepped inside, with him following closely behind.
“I borrowed a few bath salts from Gale,” he informed, pointing to the round tub in the middle of the room, almost filled to the brim with steamy water.
You glared at him in disbelief. “Borrowed as in… stolen?”
He shrugged.
You knew him too well.
“He does have a decent selection, yet manages to always carry the most interesting smells around,” he said, bringing you over to the large basin under a round mirror. “I minced peppermint and it should help with your breath,” he added, handing you a glass of water.
You did as he advised and took a gulp, rinsing your mouth eagerly before spitting the content onto the basin.
“So… are you going to tell me how the conversation with Ava went?”
Wiping your lips clean with a rag, you gave him a look.
“It could have gone worse, I suppose.”
“Charming,” he said. “Worse as in ‘I almost killed her’ or ‘She made me want to pluck my eyes out’?”
“All of the above, maybe,” you said with a roll of your eyes.
To be fair, after hearing her reasoning, she didn’t come across as that bad. But you couldn’t help but to still feel wary of her intentions in the long run.
Astarion was studying your face intensely as you emptied the glass of water to quench your thirst, the minty aftertaste doing wonders to your throat.
“Anything in particular I should know about?”
Besides her wanting to take my blood? Nothing at all, you thought grimly.
You merely shook your head.
“I’ll be waiting outside, then.”
Right.
Bath time.
You took a quick look in the mirror and nearly groaned out loud from the sight of your weary face.
Just as you were trying to strip the shirt you had on, you huffed in annoyance, which earned his attention before he slipped out of the washroom.
“You need help.”
You tried to pull the sleeve, but your body ached too much to comply. “I need help.”
Astarion slowly crossed the room again, and swiftly helped you out of your shirt.
You hissed as his cold knuckles brushed against your bare stomach. “Cold, cold…” you said, teeth jittering.
Being naked in front o fhim had long lost some of its inherent sexual meaning. It used to make you feel too exposed and only when the two of you were about to indulge in one another.
Now, it felt like something casual.
His stare didn’t linger on your breasts for too long or on your now hardening nipples.
“I apologise,” he said with a smile. “Let’s get you out of these next.”
Skilled fingers worked on the front of your trousers, undoing them slowly before carefully dropping on one knee and pulling them down along your thighs.
You had to look away to hide the rush of heat that had settled on your face.
Now that felt too intimate…
He tugged at your underwear next and shiveres began to prickle along your body.
You suddenly felt too exposed.
Astarion had seen you this bare since you last slept together before reaching Moonrise Towers.
And this new predicament had your heart strumming hard in your chest.
You slipped out of your trousers and looked down to meet his crimson eyes. “What?”
“May I kiss you?”
You swallowed. Hard. “Where?”
He leaned in to press his cold lips to the dip of your hip, lingering for a few seconds before pulling away and rising to his full height again.
Gods…
“Do you need my help getting inside?” he asked and you could see it .
You could see the lust in his eyes.
You could hear the faint innuendo in his words.
And you could feel the familiar throb between your legs increasing.
“Yes…”
He promptly gripped your hand and you lifted each leg to dip into the nicely heated water, its surface covered in frothy suds.
Slowly, you lowered yourself into a sitting position before leaning back.
Astarion placed a folded towel under your neck, so you could easily relax against the wooden tub as you sank below the waterline.
“May I wash you?” he asked, settling himself on his knees behind you.
You immediately nodded, gripping the edges and trying your best to ignore the swell in between your folds.
It was almost embarrassing how easily he could turn you on with mostly his words and intonation.
Your eyes fluttered shut and you jolted briefly when you felt a soft sponge being dragged from your neck and down your breasts.
A sigh parted your lips and you arched your back instinctively, just enough to raise your nipples above the waterline as he grazed each of them in circular motions.
You instantly clenched around nothing, knowing fully well that it would have driven him insane had his cock been buried inside you.
A second moan was heard when he started planting soft kisses along your jaw while his hand kept on gliding the sponge down your abdomen.
“Does that feel good?” he whispered in between kisses.
Your legs parted as you welcomed his ministrations.
With his other hand he gripped your jaw and applied enough pressure until the back of your head hit his chest, his thumb caressingly you lovingly.
A strained whimper erupted from you when the sponge reached your folds, deliciously caressing the growing swell in between.
Your hips rolled a few times to increase the friction and you begged the Gods above to have him use his fingers instead…
“Please… Astarion…”
He planted a lingering kiss on your lips, pressing the sponge against you so you could grind desperately on it.
“Does it feel good, darling?”
“Use your fingers… please…” you begged against his lips, squeezing your legs together to trap his hand as you gripped the edges of the tub for support.
He chuckled darkly, dropping the sponge and he had to cover your mouth with his other hand to muffle a loud moan as he slid one finger along your folds.
“Do you remember how many you could take?”
Your eyes rolled shut as lust clouded your senses, hips rolling at a faster pace.
All you remembered was struggling to fit his cock inside at first…
The pad of his finger teased your swell a few times before he moved to place it at your entrance.
“Answer me.”
You could cry from the despair alone as he refused to slide a single one inside.
“I - I… two? Astarion… please… ”
He chuckled teasingly in response, and you
The door to the washroom burst open, causing him to detach from you at once.
Shadowheart.
You let out a yelp, sinking until you were neck-deep in water.
“Ever heard of knocking?” Astarion’s words were dripping with poison.
“Even heard of not greeting people with... that?”
From this position you were almost at eye-level with his lower half, giving you a privileged view of his rather generous bulge, strained against his own trousers.
You felt heat flare in your cheeks as you remembered just how easily he would drip precum for you.
She hurriedly crossed the room and threw a robe at you. “Dress up. Quickly .”
Lust quickly turned into panic from the way Shadowheart glared worriedly at you.
“What happened?”
“Gale is leaving,” she said. “We just received word from Waterdeep that his contact has been killed.”

[SUMMARY: You are not in a labeled relationship with Joel and end up getting pregnant just as he leaves to find his brother. Once you both find each other and he finds out you’re pregnant, Joel reacts in a cruel way due to his PTSD.]
Angst drama TW: mention of abortion, death.
“You shouldn’t have kept it“ he said flatly.
“That baby won’t survive this world-“
“Stop it” you whispered.
Joel and you had been keeping each other company for the last few months. One thing led to another and eventually you were intimate with him. Neither of you had really spoken about what exactly the two of you had together, Joel was never up for much conversation and you honestly preferred it that way. The world was complicated enough than to add labels on what you both had. All you knew was that the feel of his touch would make you forget about the shit storm you both were dealing with and he sure loved to relieve stress with you, especially whenever he’d return from a long day out. You knew whatever you two had wasn’t going to last forever, Joel was searching for this brother and you felt he was close to finding him.
One day you walked in to find him packing his bags and you knew this was it. Joel stood up taking a deep breath, his jacket and backpack on, he was ready to leave.
“I got a car to get me to where my brother is rumored to be” he began to explain as you leaned back against the wall with your arms crossed. You never asked where or anything about his brother, Joel rarely liked to share much anyways. You nodded with half a smile as he walked closer to you with a hint of sadness in his eyes.
“Why don’t you come along with me? You can stay with me and-“
“Joel, I told you this is where I belong. Go find your brother” you assured him. You could see the disappointment in his eyes but he respected your wishes and nodded.
“I’ll see you around” Joel leaned in and kissed you once more before quickly walking off as you felt a sudden knot in your throat.
Why the hell would you be getting upset about this? Turning back to see him leave you saw him walking out with a woman you had never seen, must’ve been the person who helped him with a car. A sinking feeling in your chest as he disappeared from your view, you sighed throwing yourself onto the bed.
“It was fun while it lasted” you whispered to yourself staring at the ceiling, you always knew it would end yet you never really much thought of how it would feel when it did.
Weeks continued to go by as you found yourself more alone than usual. You found yourself missing Joel but you always tried to shake the feeling off. It had been four weeks since he left, you couldn’t believe how fast time had gone when your heart dropped at the thought.
“Four weeks” you whispered in shock. Four weeks had passed and you realized you never got your period. Calming yourself down you tried to convince yourself it was stress, of course it was, Joel was as careful as he could be. Pacing back and fourth in the room you decided to head to the doctors room a few doors down. Walking inside without asking for permission taking advantage that no one was inside, you began going through the drawers.
“Come on, there has to be a pregnancy test here somewhere” you mumbled to yourself when one of the nurses walked in.
“Excuse me, what do you think you’re doing?!” Ignoring her you continued opening each cabinet and drawer until you finally came across a basket holding a stack of them.
“Got it!” Grabbing a few you ran out of the room as the nurse continued to yell at you down the hall.
Closing the door of where you stayed you quickly bit the plastic off at the edge to take out the test. Just as the instructions had said, you dipped each stick in urine and now waited for the results.
“Please don’t be positive, please don’t be positive” you closed your eyes as your heart raced with anticipation. You knew it was time to check them and slowly opened your eyes to see exactly what you were afraid of. Two positive pregnancy tests sat in front of you, your hand quickly covering your mouth in shock before you looked up at yourself in the mirror. Tears immediately forming as you began to hyperventilate. Fanning yourself you took a deep breath closing your eyes again trying to keep yourself calm, only to open them hoping to somehow see something different.
“Shit!” You yelled slamming your fist on the counter. God knows how far long exactly you were. Maybe there was a way to still change this, there was a doctor there after all.
“Sorry we don’t provide procedures of that nature” the doctor spoke with an unfriendly tone.
“What do you mean? You do plenty of procedures-“
“We don’t do that” she emphasized.
“What about a pill?” You asked desperately. The doctor simply shook her head and rolled her eyes. You sat in shock and silence, how the hell were you suppose to bring a child into this world with the way things were.
“What am I suppose to do?” You whispered.
“Talk to the man who got you here” she stacked up her papers and stood up leaving you alone in the room with your thoughts. The man who got you here was God knows where at this point.
Seven months had now gone by, many things changed for you including where you stayed. After your area was attacked you were saved by a group who took you in and kept you safe. Being in Jackson you felt was the best thing that could’ve happened to you. The people were friendly, helpful and it gave you hope for your baby. There was two doctors here that monitored your pregnancy the best way they could and were happy to inform you that you were having a boy.
It was easy to make friends here, one man named Kevin took a special liking to you and always seemed to help you around. Tommy and his wife Maria were especially very friendly and did what they could to make sure you were comfortable. For the first time you weren’t so afraid and hopeless. From time to time you thought of Joel, you wondered if he ever found his brother, you wondered if he was still alive.
Laying in bed you could hear the others speaking down the hall, three people were found close by and were going to be bought in. Jackson always seemed to take in people, it was surprising how they never seemed to run out of food. Speaking of food, your stomach rumbled at the thought of something to eat yet your eyes fought to stay open and so you decided to nap for the time being.
A couple hours later you woke up feeling famished. Getting your swollen feet off the bed you sighed pushing yourself up to take yourself to the cafeteria. You’d give anything for a nice grilled burger right now but anything will do. Pushing through the big wooden doors you could hear Tommy’s voice when you heard another very familiar voice.
It couldn’t be…could it?
The voice making you stop in your tracks as you looked up and could see it was exactly who you thought.
Joel stood with his back to you speaking to Tommy, just as Tommy noticed you standing at the doorway as if you had seen a ghost.
“Hey, you alright?” Before you could move Joel turned to you with an instant look of shock. His eyes immediately noticing your growing belly as you took a step back.
“Joel?” You whispered hesitantly, your hand gently cradling your belly.
“You know her?” Tommy asked confused as Joel fully turned to you beside his brother, silently he nodded not taking his eyes off you. A feel of some kind of relief washed over you but didn’t last as the unknown woman you had seen Joel leave with entered the room through the side door.
“Come on, Joel. Let’s get some rest” she grabbed his hand not noticing you in the room. Joel could see the hurt in your eyes as you took another step back and quickly walked out of the room.
Joel slowly took his hand back not saying a word as Tess looked at him confused.
“What was that about?” She asked but Joel didn’t respond, his eyes never having left the door you walked out of. Tess began to sarcastically laugh.
“Don’t tell me that’s her”
“How long she been here?” Joel asked Tommy ignoring Tess only angering her. She sucked her teeth walking out but it didn’t seem to phase Joel.
“Two months” Tommy responded.
“She was in pretty bad shape when we found her” Joel quickly turned to Tommy with a look of concern.
“But she’s alright now?”
“Of course, we have doctors looking after her- Joel” Tommy couldn’t seem to help himself from asking.
“You and her…-“
Joel cleared his throat uncomfortably and took a deep breath. Tommy simply pressed his lips together accurately reading his brothers reactions. Joel wasn’t sure if the baby was his but he knew there was a possibility.
“Go talk to her, brother” he patted Joel on the shoulder and left the room.
Sitting on the bed still in shock you wiped the tears from your face and heard a knock on the door.
You knew it was him yet you were so hesitant to open.
He looked down at you with furrowed brows as you stood silently unsure of what to say.
“Is it mine?” He blurt out in a dry tone. You nodded, your confirmation making him show obvious distress. He took a step back brushing his hand over his lips as you thought of what you could say.
“You let me leave“
“What?” You asked confused.
“You let me leave knowing damn well you was pregnant-“
“No!” You yelled in frustration with his accusations.
“I didn’t know a thing, I found out a month after you left I didn’t know what to do” you explained as his eyes drifted down to your belly but he only seemed to be feeling anger in that moment.
“I could’ve thought of something for you to do” his dark eyes found yours with a coldness that could cut through you leaving you speechless.
“So you found my brother and thought what?“
“I didn’t know that was your brother, Joel. You never told me a damn thing about you! I’ve been here for two months, you told me you were off to find him almost eight months ago!”
“Well things came up” he snapped back.
“Oh I’m sure they did, with your girlfriend right?”
Your words making him silent but you could tell there was so much he wanted to say.
“You shouldn’t have kept it“ he said flatly.
“That baby won’t survive this world-“
“Stop it” you whispered.
“This world isn’t meant for children-“
“Get out!” you screamed holding back tears.
“Get out and go back with that girlfriend of yours, I was fine on my own-“
“That’s not what Tommy told me” you had enough with how cruel he was acting. Slamming the door in his face Joel stood for a moment with a slight look of guilt. All Joel could think of was how this very world took his daughter from him, he couldn’t face something like that again. His fear coming out of him in ways that only hurt you, Joel felt out of control. Not saying a word he walked off back to the room Tommy had set for him.
Walking into the room he found Tess laying back on the bed, almost forgetting he wasn’t alone. He didn’t say a word to her but she could sense his anger.
“That thing yours?” A sarcastic tone in her voice.
Joel didn’t respond turning his back to Tess making her once again laugh.
“It was handled, Tess”
“Oh yeah? How was it handled, Joel? Did you miraculously make the whore disappear?” Joel stopped in his tracks looking over his shoulder.
“She’s not a whore”
“Now he defends her” she mumbled under her breath as she stood up from the bed.
“Listen, Joel we had a plan-“
“No” he snapped back at her turning to face her.
“You had a plan, Tess. My plan was to find my brother and I did.”
“So then maybe this is the end of our journey” she shrugged.
“Maybe it is.” And with that response Tess grabbed her bag and walked out loudly slamming the door. Joel didn’t bother going after her, he didn’t even know exactly what he was feeling. Joel sat on the edge of the bed rubbing his face with his large hands when Tommy opened the door.
“You alright?”
“What do you think?” He grumbled still hiding his face in his hands.
“When did that happen?” Tommy asked referring to you as he closed the door behind him.
“We lived together for a while” he explained looking up at him.
“So why didn’t she come with you?”
“It wasn’t like that.” Yet he couldn’t help but remember how much he wanted you to come with him.
Joel sighed leaning forward shaking his head.
“I can’t…I can’t do this again, Tommy” Joel whispered referring to the loss of his daughter.
“Does she know about-“
“No.” Tommy could hear the guilt in Joel’s voice, he couldn’t imagine what his brother was feeling.
That night Joel tried his best to get sleep but it seemed like an impossible task. His arms crossed he stared at the ceiling wondering what was going through your mind.
The next day Joel came out to take a look at how the community worked, he saw Ellie already helping out and found you working with a few others. Lifting boxes and passing them down, Joel suddenly looked concerned as Tommy appeared beside him.
“How you feeling today?” Tommy asked noticing Joel didn’t take his eyes off you.
“Why do you have her working?”
“She’s fine, those boxes aren’t heavy.” Joel didn’t care if the boxes weren’t heavy, he didn’t care if you were the one who volunteered to do it, had you two been on speaking terms he wouldn’t have allowed it.
“She wanted to keep herself busy, Joel. What could I say?” Joel watched as you continued to work. At one point tripping over your own foot, he jumped ready to help you before you caught yourself.
“I told you she shouldn’t be there” Joel crossing his arms, his shoulders tense as a man came up to you and began to speak with you. You told the others you were going on a break and walked off with this man not knowing you were being watched. Tommy noticed the expression on Joel’s face and nudged him attempting to distract him.
“That’s Kevin…nothing goin on with em.”
Joel didn’t say a word but Tommy knew his brother all too well.
“Look, why don’t you just try talking to her again. Try at least man, that’s your kid-“
“I know that” Joel turned to his brother with an irritated look. Before Tommy could say a word Joel quickly made his way down the stairs following you and Kevin inside.
Joel walked down the hall and could hear you laughing until he stopped at a doorway. Kevin stood before you with his hand on your belly striking a jealousy Joel had never felt before.
His jaw clenched as he watched you laugh moving his hand around so that he could feel his child.
“Did you feel that? The baby is usually calm but when it’s time for bed it’s a wrap” you sighed placing your hands to support your back.
“Shouldn’t be on your feet too much” Joel’s voice surprised you making you turn to him. Kevin stood up straight clearing his throat, he knew who Joel was. Nothing had ever happened between you and Kevin but everyone knew Kevin liked you, everyone but you.
“The doctor said I’m fine to go about my day” you explained as he stood across from you, not even sure why you explained yourself in the first place. Joel didn’t respond at first, looking over at Kevin not afraid to show he didn’t want him in the room.
“Kevin, I’ll talk to you later ok? Just give me a minute” Kevin nodded and walked out of the room looking back at you as he walked out the door.
“What do you want Joel?”
“You and Kevin?”
“No” you responded defensively.
“What do you care anyways, isn’t your girlfriend waiting for you somewhere-“
“She’s not my girl” Joel responded as he took a step closer.
“Well Kevin has just been a friend helping me a bit.”
“Oh I’m sure he is.” He was obviously bothered by Kevin yet it was confusing as to why he would be. It couldn’t be jealousy, Joel never had any deep feelings for you, or so you thought.
“Joel, what the hell is your problem? We don’t have to speak, you already made it clear how you felt-“
“Have I?” He took another step closer inches away from you.
“What is your problem?!” You repeated in frustration as he stared down at you.
“My problem is that you have Kevin over there trying to get close to you and my baby-“
“He’s not trying to do that” you tried to defend him while also realizing Joels wording, suddenly he had a problem with someone getting close to a baby he didn’t want? Suddenly he had a problem with another man getting close to you.
“It’s not like that with him” you continued.
“Oh yeah? So what was that?” He motioned his head towards the door Kevin had walked out of.
“What was what?” You yelled once again.
“This” Joel unexpectedly placed his hand on your belly, shocking himself by how quickly he felt the baby begin to kick. You gasped looking down feeling the baby jump around like he had never before. For the first time for Joel this felt real. His anger, his nerves suddenly subsiding at the feel of his baby moving around inside you. He was speechless, his hands not moving away as you felt a rather sharp pain from a kick making you wince. Your hand unexpectedly covering his hand on the spot where you felt the pain, yet neither of you moved.
“You alright?” He whispered. You looked up to find his deep brown eyes filled with concern, a rush of confusion taking over you. One minute he’s angry the next he’s concerned, one minute he doesn’t care the next he’s jealous. Whatever it was it was all too much and the last thing you wanted to deal with was games.
“Hey” he spoke in a whisper trying to get your attention noticing your mind went elsewhere. Before you said a word you abruptly pushed his hand away and practically ran out the room.
Quickly wiping a tear away you could hear Joel right behind you calling out for you until he caught your arm.
“Let go of me!” You yelled snatching your arm back.
“You don’t get to do that, tell me I should’ve gotten rid of it then…then now acting like you give a shit.” He knew why you were upset with him, hell he himself didn’t know what the hell he was feeling but he also knew you didn’t know the truth. Turning away from him again you tried quickly to make your way out the door until his words stopped you in your tracks.
“I had a daughter” you couldn’t see his face but you could feel his emotion within that simple sentence.
“The night-“ he cleared his throat looking down.
“The night this began, my daughter was…my daughter was killed” you stood still with your lips parted in disbelief.
“I don’t talk about it but…it destroyed me…it changed me” he whispered, the sound in his voice breaking your heart. You turned to find him looking down fidgeting with a watch he had on, his mind taking him back to that very moment.
“Joel…” you whispered slowly walking towards him.
“I know I said things to you, it wasn’t right but I cant-“ his voice cracked as a tear fell down his cheek. Slowly you placed your soft hand on the side of his face and that’s when he truly became vulnerable. Joel began to sob in a way you had never seen, you silently cried with him caressing him gently before he looked up at you and quickly wiped away his tears. He stood up straight and looked down at your belly before looking at you straight into your eyes.
“I promise honey I won’t let anything happen to you or our baby, ever. I know I haven’t shared much but I promise you can take my word on it. I’m sorry I left-“
“Joel” you whispered taking his face in your hands. All along he had feelings for you just as you did for him, all along so many things unsaid..
“We found each other now” you whispered.
“That’s all that matters” you continued just as you felt another strong kick.
“Oh-“ you leaned forward holding your belly.
“What is it?” Joel quickly placed his hands on your arms holding you up.
“He’s just kicking a whole lot right now” you chuckled shaking your head before realizing the look in his eyes.
“What?” You asked confused.
“He” Joel whispered.
“Oh…yes. It’s a boy” for the first time in a long time Joel’s lips curved into a smile.
“Well if that’s the case, if he’s anything like me, you better get your butt into bed” the two of you laughed together looking into each others eyes before slowly leaning in and kissing him.

It’s your birthday night
“Hey I was wondering where you went off too.” Natasha smiled seeing you in the kitchen.”
“Just needed a breather.” You muttered vaping your weed pen.
“Sure it wasn’t because Rachel is singing with Quinn?” The redhead kinked her brow.
“…No.” You muttered drinking the rest of your drink. You were crossfaded and ready to get shit faced.
“Hmhm.” She chuckled sitting on the counter where you were leaning.
You grinned looking down at her dress covered legs.
“I got you something.” She said softly, taking it out of her pocket.
“Whhhat? You shouldn’t have.” You chuckled, taking the small box in your hand. You opened it and took out a necklace with the names of your daughters on it.
“If you look through the top you’ll see them.” She smiled watching your jaw drop. You could see a picture of you and your little girls from the time you were in Natasha’s pool.
“Nat this is… thank you. I love it.” You chuckled, hugging her tightly against you. “It’s a really thoughtful and sweet gift. I love it.” You blushed, handing her the necklace to place on you. She leaned in, unclasping the hook before placing it on you and leaning back again.
“You’re welcome.” She said softly, you were both close and you don’t know if it’s her scent or being crossfaded but you have an urge to take her. God, you get so horny when you drink. Her arms are still loosely hanging around your neck. You’re so close between her legs she can feel your bulge growing she leans in lightly kissing your cheek. “Happy birthday.”
“Where is Bruce?” You ask softly, stepping closer feeling her legs nudge you closer.
Natasha shrugs, she doesn’t have the energy to lie, not when she’s buzzed and can smell your scent.
“He doesn’t deserve you Nat.” You say boldly caress her cheek.
She’s just going to tell you. Tell you her marriage is a sham, and tell you that Quinn is the one that doesn’t deserve you. The words are on the edge of her lips when you start leaning closer “Y/N-” She husks arching her back ever so lightly to lighten the ache between her legs.
“You deserve so much better.” You say softly.
“The same could be said for you.” She whispers her hands now cupping our cheeks. You both hold eye contact as your hands hook beneath her legs bringing her close against you.
“Nat.” Her name slips from your lips feeling her nose rub against yours. It’s such a small thing that ignites the fire in your belly. You feel your cock throb as the blood rushes down.
Her lips touch yours letting the fire spread. You both moan finally unleashing your emotions that have been lingering for too long.
Her legs hook around you and suddenly her hands are reaching for your belt and yours reach below her dress dragging her soaked panties down and shoving them in your pocket.
She takes your meat in her hand gently tugging you. You break the kiss bringing her closer by the hips feeling her rubbing against your hard cock.
She sighs and you groan feeling her hot juices against your cock. “Y/N!” She husks feeling your tongue against her neck. “I’ve wanted this for so long!” She husks pushing you inside.
“Oh my God… oh Natasha oh fuck!” You moan as the toe of your shoes bang against the bottoms of the cabinets. You pivot your hips hitting her spot.
“Ohhh!” Natasha’s mouth opens with a loud moan as she pulls you closer feeling you deep inside her womb.
The cabinets bang as you thrust harder and harder. She pushes your shirt up to feel your skin.
“I wanna feel your body against mine so bad.” She husks. You shove her dress was far up as you can hold her against you. You can feel her meeting your thrusts.
“Fuck I can’t hold on much longer.” You moan feeling her hard nipples and soft skin against yours. “I’m sorry you just feel so fucking good.”
“Oh baby I’m gonna cum it’s been a really really long time.”
“Good cause I can’t hold on im gonna… I gotta-“ you tried to pull out but she kept you there and you exploded. “Ohhhh!” You groan feeling the coil inside of you spring to life. Emptying your seed deep inside of her.
“Fuuuck!” She moans her pussy twitching, milking you for all your worth.
You're both panting as you come down from your high. “Fuck.” You breathe out remembering your wife, the women of your children and the one who threw this party for you is right outside. You let go of Nat laying a hand against the top cabinet. “Fuck.” You say again before looking up.
Natasha feels her heart fall and you look disappointed. She can’t tell if you regret it because you're married or if you regret it because you’re not into her.
“Hey.” She says lifting your chin.
Your eyes are Wild.
“Kiss me.”
She leans in taking your lips once more. Your breathing is still heavy from having hot sex against your kitchen counter.
You both are silent as you break the kiss. Your cock is still inside of her. You gently pull out grabbing paper towels you wipe your cum that seeps out of her pussy. You have half a mind to clean her with your tongue but the whole you debate the idea. There are voices right outside asking where you are.
You stuff your cock back in your jeans and Natasha steals one last kiss from you. “Hmm.” You hum squeezing her close and breaking when the back door opens.
Natasha purses her lips gripping the counter as you take a few steps back.
“Hey there you are, come on Quinn’s looking for you.” Mike grins, gripping your shoulders as he pushes you along outside.
Your birthday night was the start of a torrid love affair.
The next time you and Natasha fuck is the day after your birthday. You spent the next day thinking about what you did. You were racked with guilt in the beginning but as time wore on that day all you could think about was the way her velvet walls felt against your cock. The sound of her moans and groans as you stretched her out.
You were bricked and needed her to help you. Quinn sadly thought it was for her.
“You are insatiable. Don’t worry, I'll take care of you tonight.” She husked winking at you as she continued on with dinner.
That night your wife sucked on your cock in a way that used to have you coming in minutes. You tried to focus on her hazel eyes as she choked on your staff, but your mind would pan to Natasha. You wanted her so bad you feel the way your body aches for her. Quinn rode you like a cowgirl and still all you could think about was the way Natasha’s body would arch into yours. You wondered how’d she taste, and how wonderful she would feel writhing on top of you.
You pictured her and came with a grunt.
You satisfied Quinn as she was getting tired of being the only one to have orgasmed so many times.
The next day Quinn went to work and took Beth to school. You went straight to Wanda with Fin.
“Do you mind watching her for a bit? I need to do something real quick.”
“Oh of course.” Wanda nodded, taking your daughter. “Thank you, I'll be back.”
As soon as Wanda shut the door you ran towards Natasha’s. You banged on her door leaning both hands on the panels of her door breathing heavily as your heart thumped against your chest. You shouldn’t be here. You shouldn’t be doing this, but you couldn’t fight it anymore. You wanted her so bad you just had to have her again.
“Y/N.” She said eyes widening as she opened the door.
You don’t say a word, you just bring her in your arms kissing her as passionately as you did the day before yesterday.
“Hmm.” She hummed, slamming the door shut. You lift her up and pin her against the door.
“I can’t stop thinking about you.” You muttered as you both gasped for air.
“You haven’t left my mind. I thought you regretted it.” Natasha’s chest heaved.
“I don’t.” You shook your head leaning in to kiss her lips softly this time.
“Take us upstairs.”
You nod, kissing her once more before running up the stairs.
“Left.” she mumbles taking a break from kissing your chest.
You hang a left and rush through the door plopping both of you on her bed.
“Hmmm take it off.” She husks pushing against you.
You both shed your clothes quickly, unable to contain the sexual energy you both feel radiating around you.
“God you’re so fucking beautiful.” You say biting your lips as you look down at her porcelain body.
“I’ve wanted this for so long.” She says bringing you down by the necklace she got you.
“I’m here now baby, daddy’s here. I’m gonna take care of that ache between these delicious legs.” You say laying between her legs.
She moans at the sight of you so close to licking her pussy. She thrusts her hips up tangling her fingers in your hair. “Please!” She begs. “Please fuck me daddy. I need you so badly.”
You pin her legs down, and inhale deeply before feasting on her sweet tangy pussy. “Fuck you taste so good!” You mutter. Your tongue is flicking her bundle of nerves so perfectly. She takes your hands placing them on her breast moaning as you massage both.
Your lapping her up and her body is twitching against you she’s getting closer.
“I need you daddy.” She shakes her head. “I need you to stretch me out in the best fucking way!”
“I wanna keep tasting you.” You smirk hearing her whine.
“Please daddy! Please fuck me right. Please Y/N fuck me into this mattress!” She pulls you up and you lay between her legs humping into her as your teeth clash in a battle for dominance.
Her nails scratch your back as you slip right into her. “Ohhhh!” Her body tenses tightly around you as she moans. “Ohhhh fuck!” she sobs feeling you slam into her your abs rubbing against her taunt stomach.
“You feel so fucking good baby.” You groan. “You’re taking me so well.” You lift yourself up so you could see the way her tits jiggle with every thrust into her. You let one hand go around her breast, flicking her nipple and the other rubbing her clit.
“Oh Natasha! Oh baby, you look so good with my dick inside of you. Look at that bulge baby! You’re such a good girl taking all of me like this.”
The redhead moans reaching for your neck but you pull back and pull out.
You flip her over and she groans as you sit on the back of her thighs lifting her ass up. You lean down licking her tight little asshole as your fingers play with her pussy. She moans drooling against her pillow. “Ohhh fuck!” She sounds muffled against the pillow.
You slap her ass cheeks before slapping your cock against her puffy pussy. “You want my cock baby?”
“Yesss!” She screams into the pillow. “Please daddy!”
You smirk, pushing your thick long cock inside of her..
“Oh Y/N you feel so good daddy! So good!” She moans wiggling her ass against you.
“Hmm you feel good too Angel. I haven’t stopped thinking about you. The way you sound. The way you feel. My God Natasha I’m so addicted to you already. All I want is you.”
Natasha made sounds that would put a porn star to shame. She pushed into you using her elbows to arch her back. You help her up against your body. “Oh detka.” She moaned against your lips. “I’ve wanted you for so long.”
You push in deeper then out then back in as deep as you can getting a guttural moan from her lips.
“That’s it baby you can take it. You can take this dick can’t you?”
“Yes daddy! Yes! I love your big cock so fucking much!”
“This is the best pussy I’ve ever had. The fucking best.” You say cumming deep inside of her. “Ohhh fuuuck!”
She can feel the air from her lungs rush out feeling your heavy muscled body against hers. You grunt in her ear before rolling off of her.  She pants lifting herself up and rolling on her back. “Fuck that was so good baby.” She pants before looking over at you. Your cock is still rock hard and your looking at her like you never have before.
You reach out for her, bringing her on top of you.
“I’m still aching for you Natasha.” You say pushing her hair back before bringing her in a kiss.
“Then let me take care of it.” She smirked against your lips.
She makes her way down bringing your twitching cock in her mouth.
“Oh my- oh your mouth is amazing.” You breathed out feeling your toes curl. Her eyes never leave yours as chokes down your length.
“Fuuuck baby that’s enough I don’t wanna cum yet.” You groaned.
“Can I ride you now daddy?” She straddles you, rubbing her pussy against your length as you grope her breasts.
“Of course baby…That’s it princess rub yourself against daddy.”
Her eyes start to flutter close as she picks up her pace. She’s rocking against your throbbing cock as she falls against you kissing you.
“Hmmm!” You hum gripping her ass cheeks. “Fuuuck your ass is so perfect baby.”
Natasha reaches below angling her pelvis as before sinking against your cock.
You both hiss at the heat between your legs and she starts to rock slowly.
“That’s it, baby ride me.” You husk before she bites your lip.
“So good this dick is so fucking good. You’re so thick and long I can feel you stretching me out daddy.” Her pace starts to pick up and soon she’s bouncing on your cock. She loved watching how your body reacted to hers.
“Your pussy is choking and stroking me in the best fucking way.” You grunt.
“Ohhh Y/N!” She cries out steadying herself with both arms as she rocks as fast as she can. She gasps and gasps for air as she cums around your meat once again.
“That’s it baby take it and keep cuming on daddy.” You lift her up with ease before thrusting up inside of her faster and harder than she could do herself.
“Oh yesss! Oh fuck yesss daddy just like that don’t stop! Don’t stop fucking me!” She moans against your ear.
“Fuuuuck this you feel so good I’m about to cum… cum with me?” You ask and she nods quickly. Looking into her eyes you cum hard with her.
You both twitch in each others arms. “That was so damn good better than good it was fucking fireworks and shooting stars my God.” You pant feeling her kissing your neck before trailing up towards your lips languishly kissing as she tangles your legs.
She moans feeling you hump inside of her gently letting her ride out her high still.
She sighs against your chest her finger nails dragging softly against your abdomen.
“I could wash my clothes with these abs.” She smirks against your skin before repositioning her head to see you better.
“You can use them any time you want, angel.” You chuckled letting your one hand thread your fingers in her red tresses and the other graze her skin on her back.
You both lay in pure bliss not wanting it to end.
Her hair curtains around you as she kisses you softly. Your hand palming her perfectly sculpted ass.
“How is it that you are so beautiful, sexy, cute, and a naughty little good girl all at once?” You ask, breaking the kiss. She blushes looking away. You gently move her chin towards you.
“To lure you in my arms of course.” She smirked, kissing you once more.
“I have to go and pick up Fin from Wanda’s soon. Wanna join us for lunch? I’ll cook for you.” You ask, pushing a lock behind her ear.
Natasha whined into your neck. “I don’t want this to end yet.”
“Hey come on it doesn’t have to-“
“I want you to keep fucking me all day long.” She hums humping you.
“Hmm.” You hum at the feel of her tight walls.
“Please daddy one more time?”
You roll over on top of her fitting right between her legs. You slowly start to thrust into her.
“Dadddy! Oh Y/N.” She moans pulling you down against her body.
You take in the way she feels around you, and the way she looks blissfully full.
“You're so beautiful, Nat, you're gorgeous. I’ve never seen a woman like you.”
She was falling so hard for you. She just hoped you would catch her.
“Maybe we could go somewhere? Get out of town and not out of bed.”
The redhead smiled, kissing you softly. “I’ll go anywhere with you.”
You sighed digging your face into her neck sucking and nibbling as the pace of your thrusts increased.
“Oh baby.” Natasha groaned, feeling you twitch inside of her as you kiss her spot.
“I can’t believe we’re doing this.” You sighed.
“I’ve wanted you from the moment I saw you moving in. The way your muscles flexed. The way you smiled at me.”
You kiss her pushing yourself deeper and deeper.
“Especially when I caught you fucking your wife.”
“Wait what?” You chuckled pulling back and pausing your movements causing her to whine.
“Keep going don’t stop and I’ll tell you more.”
You chuckled darkly doing as she told you.
“Oh fuck yes babbbby.”
“Tell me more.”
“I saw how big you were and the way you’d fuck her. I would imagine it was me and touch myself with my toy.”
“My naughty girl.” You grinned kissing her once more.
“I’d wake up early just to watch you run so I could see the way your big dick would bounce in your shorts.”
“I saw you once. You had just gotten out of the shower your blinds were wide open. You bent over and all I wanted to do was show you how good I can be instead of your husband. I got in the shower and thought of you as I jacked off.”
“You thought of me?”
“Yes baby.”
“Oh my-“ Natasha moaned as she came around your cock.
“Give me two more baby.” You say picking up your pace.
“I’ll give you anything daddy.” She sobbed, feeling herself cum again almost too quickly..
“Shit that’s it love.” You both rolled around in bed until you finally pulled out, and turned her against you lifting up her leg from behind. You let your thick soldier enter her once more. She turned her head meeting your lips moaning at the way you felt around her body.
“Oh Y/N you make me feel so fucking good.”
“Yeah?”
“Hmhm.”
You leaned in kissing her before moving to her spine to her shoulders to her neck.
“I’m close, sweetheart.”
“Me too daddy.”
“Ladies first.” You whispered.
“Same time.” She shook her head.
“Okay Angel just tell daddy when.”
“Keep thrusting daddy just a few more.” She moaned as your hand explored her curves.
“You are the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life. You’re so fuckin pure like an Angel.”
Her arm went back letting her hand scratch your scalp.
“I feel the same about you Y/N. I want you to fuck me like this every day.”
“Anything. I’ll do anything for you.”
“Come with me daddy.” She husked moaning against your mouth as you thrusted so hard you had to wrap both arm around her to keep her from flying away from you.
The moans and pants filled the room as your cum shot deep inside of her.
You curled into her kissing up from her arms to her neck and cheek.
“I love you.” She so desperately wants to say.
You’re both covered in sweat. Normally you’d want to cool off on your side of the bed but now you didn’t care. Truthfully you wanted to go again, but you know you really need to get Finley.
You both looked down at your combined juices seeped out of her tight little pussy.
She pulled you in a kiss slowly tasting your tongue.
“You’re so fucking perfect.” She husked. “Better than I imagined. I wasn’t lying about fucking you every day. I can’t go back to not having you at all.”
“I’m yours Angel I’m all yours.” You whispered, caressing her cheek.
You hold her for a while until you notice her sleeping. You eventually pull out and get up to clean her up a bit. You gently wipe between her thighs and get dressed.
“I don’t want you to go.” She says softly, startling you.
“Let me get my daughter and I’ll make you both lunch.” You smile.
She nods, sitting up.
You kiss her one more time after putting your shoes on. “I’ll see you in a few.” You smile before heading downstairs and out the door.
⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗ ⧗
“Natty!” Finley squealed.
“Hi Finny!” She smiled brightly lifting up your toddler as she babbled away.
“Papa look! Natty.”
You grinned, throwing your cooking towel over your shoulder. “Hey Natty.”
“Hey daddy.” She smirked, biting her lip. She desperately wanted to kiss you.
“No Natty, that's my papa.”
“You don’t want to share.”
“I share with Bethy.” She shook her head causing Natasha to let out her melodic laugh.
After lunch you watch Natasha teach Fin ballet and until its nap time for Fin.
“She fell asleep while we were doing a bit of yoga.” Nat whispered, holding your daughter up.
“I noticed.” You grinned as you led her upstairs to put Fin in her bed.
You were both walking back downstairs when you held her from behind. “You look so beautiful when you dance.” Your hands ran down her hips.
She hummed in response pushing her butt into you. “You’re so hard for me.”
“I couldn’t hold it anymore.”
She wrapped her hand behind your neck bringing you down in a kiss. “Think we have time?”
“We can make time.” You nod in response.
“Take me baby.” she husked.
You push your joggers down letting your member spring to life as she pushes her tights down. You shuffle over behind the sofa letting her hold on to something as you begin to rub her pussy with your fingers.
“Oh baby.” She sighs. “I love the way you touch me.”
“I love the way you feel and the way you make me feel.” You breathe her in as she pumps your meat.
“I’m ready for you daddy.” She bites your ear as you push inside of her.
You both quietly groan at the feel of each other.
Natasha bends over the sofa stretching her back but you pull her back up using one arm around her tight little waist and the other raised up to wrap your hand around her neck feeling her nipple against your forearm. She practically melts in your arms as you thrust your hips.
“How is it each time feels like the first time in the best way possible?” She mutters.
“It's the way we make eachother feel.” you admit.
“Fuck.” she bites her palm as she meets your rhythm.
“Natasha.” You husk against her neck. You wanna say those three little words so badly. You’re in love with her. You just need to tell your wife. You have to tell her it's over. You snap out of your thoughts as she brings you back in a sloppy kiss. You’re both growing closer and closer with each short stroke.
“Ohh Y/N.” She bites back her moan. “Just like that.” She mutters feeling her eyes roll back. “Cum with me.”
You grunt, squeezing her tightly as you cum inside of her. You kiss her neck before moving to her lips with a heavy sigh.
Natasha looks at the clock and feels her heart tighten. Quinn and Beth should be home in a little over an hour. She knows it's time for her to leave. She desperately wants to ask you what this all means, but she's scared it will only make you want to stop whatever this relationship is.
“What's wrong angel?” you ask as she pushes away from you lightly.
She refuses to speak instead she points at the clock heading to the bathroom to clean up.
You anxiously wait outside wondering if she wants to stop this thing between the two of you when you hear the door open.
“Nat-”
“Don’t make this harder for me Y/N.” She whispers walking towards the door.
“Baby.” You say bring her against you.
“Y/N.” She says against your chest.
“I’ll see you tomorrow night right? At Thors?”
She nods and you kiss her softly and leave another kiss against her forehead before letting her go.
Halloween Party at Thors
After finding you out back and sitting on your lap at the behest of Carol and Val of course.
Natasha could feel how hard you were and would wiggle her ass against you when the gang would look away.
You took her hand under your jacket, setting it on your cock. She rubbed you slowly.
“Fuck I’m so hard for you baby.” You muttered near her ear. “You look so fucking good in this catsuit. I gotta have you now.”
“Meet me in Thors bathroom upstairs.” She muttered before getting off your lap and leaving behind your jacket to cover your hard on.
“How ya doing Y/L/N?” Val smirked.
“I gotta take a piss.” You muttered walking back inside with your jacket.
“Oh they’re totally fucking.” Val muttered in her wifes ear.
“I can only imagine the steam coming off their hot bodies.”
“Call it a night and-”
“Yes.” Carol quickly said, pulling her wife up and out of the party without as much of a goodbye.
You watched as Quinn talked to Christine so you made a beeline for Thor’s bathroom upstairs.
“I told you Nat hasn’t stopped hooking up with Y/N.” Wanda huffed looking around.
“Maybe Y/N will tell Quinn and let her go?”
“I hope so.”
Meanwhile upstairs
You knocked and Nat opened the door bringing you in. Your lips and teeth met with a clash.
“You look so fucking good in this cat suit.” You squeezed her ass, slapping it with both hands.
“I knew you’d love it.” Nat smirked pushing you back a bit before dropping to her knees.
You watched with hooded eyes as she licked your second head. Your hand wrapped around her tresses just as she began bobbing her head.
“Fuuuuck!”  You groaned, you gently guided her all the way down your length hearing her gag a bit.
“Like this daddy?” Her voice was muffled.
“Don’t talk with your mouth full baby.” You smirked and her eyes darkened and she let out a muffled giggle. “Your mouth baby those lips… fuck.” You sighed holding on to the sink.
You watched as she worshiped your cock sucking the life out of you, and occasionally licking you up and down so slowly you’d twitch in her hand.
“Daddy will you lick me now? I’m so wet and sticky for you.”
“Fuuuuck yes come here baby.”
You lifted her onto the bathroom cabinet. Kissing her passionately before lowering her zipper letting your tongue lick all the way down her body. You slid her tiny little black thong out of the way feeling her tangy juices run down your tongue.
“Ohhhh fuck daddy your tongue is so good.”
“Hmmm.” You hummed burrowing a little bit deeper letting her legs drape over your shoulders.
She moaned humping into your mouth. “Oh daddy!”
You hummed in response, lapping her sweet juices up. You could go down on her for hours if you could. You could feel her fingers grazing our hair.
You began spelling out different things against her clit to make her jolt.
“Daddy.” She giggled, bringing your hands up to her breast. And the other she sucked on your thumb.
You began swiping your tongue just right she was like a fire hydrant ready to burst.
“Fuuuuck daddy right there… don’t stop, I'm so close! Ohhhh dadddddy!” She began humping your face, squeezing your hands against her as she came undone. She gasped for breath as you stood back up.
She licked herself off of you feeling your cock teasing her slit. You took her hand placing it on your member. “Slowly daddy.” She whined, inserting your tip causing you to hiss at her heat.
You barely push in before pulling out. Repeating it a few times hearing her mewing against your neck. “You’re so sexy Nat. Sometimes I can’t believe I’m here with you.”
She opened her eyes and brought your hand up from her chest to around her neck. “I love being your dirty little secret.”
“Oh my gosh.” You groaned, plunging yourself deeper and deeper.
“I love being your toy daddy. Fuck I love it so much.” She gasps at the feel of your hand.
You began thrusting into her at an alarming rate. Her moans grow so loud you cover her mouth to muffle the sound. Even though the bass of the music is loud you still don’t want to be caught.
“That’s it baby girl you’re taking me so well.” You moan seeing the tears in her eyes. You loosen your grip and let go but she keeps you there shaking her head. “I wish I had all night with you. I wanna keep going. I wanna feel you riding me like a cowgirl.”
She moaned, eyes rolling back as she came undone. You let go of her kissing her lazily as you thrust slowly. “Fuuuck I’m gonna cum soon.” She pushes you back getting on her knees.
“Fuck my mouth daddy. Fuck it how you please.” She brought you against her lips before opening wide.
She gripped your ass as you moaned, pushing deeper and deeper down her throat.
She gagged and you muttered. “Just a few more thrusts baby. Fuck your mouth feels sooooo good.” You tense feeling your cock twitch you give a few short thrusts before cumming in her mouth. “Ohhhh fuck that’s so good.”
You pulled and she stuck out her tongue showing you the thick cum that trailed down her tongue into her throat before she swallowed. You help her up before pulling her close against you.
“You're perfect.” You whisper, laying your forehead against hers.
“So are you detka.” She kisses you.
“We should probably get back down there.” You sigh.
“You should wash your face first you smell like me.” Natasha smirks.
You grin before doing as you were told. You bring her back against your chest.
“You go first.” She says against your chest.
You squeeze her one more time before kissing her lips and walking out the door.
You both inhale realizing the situation of it all. You’ve both been fucking behind Quinn’s back for the last month. Nat is all you think about. She’s all you want. You knew it was time to get a divorce lawyer.
Natasha turns and washes her hands and mouth.
You walk down the stairs and see Quinn laughing along with Christine. She definitely didn’t notice your absence. You grab a drink and watch Natasha follow suit.
A few days later at the fair
You look around making sure your daughter Beth is distracted. You lean in kissing Natasha softly. She squeezes your hand before breaking the kiss afraid Beth will see.
“This is almost perfect.” She says softly.
“Almost.” You agreed.
“Sing to me Paolo.” She smirks.
“I'll touch that fire for you
I do that three, four times again, I testify for you, I told that lie, I'd kill that bitch, I do what all of them around you scared to do, I'm not.
Long as you juggin' out here for me, I got it.
Mobbin', schemin', lootin', hide your bodies
Long as you dreamin' 'bout me, ain't no problem
I don't got nobody, just with you right now
Tell the truth, I look better under you
I can't lose when I'm with you
How can I snooze and miss the moment?
You just too important
Nobody do body like you do
I can't lose when I'm with you
I can't just snooze and miss the moment
You just too important
Nobody do body like you do, you do”
Natasha briefly checked for Beth’s attention before kissing you softly. You kissed her hand as the Ferris wheel started descending back down.
The rest of the night made Natasha feel like the two of you were together with a little family. It made her ready to finally tell you everything you deserved to know.
The next morning
“What’s wrong baby?” You ask.
“I can’t keep lying to you, we need to talk.”
“Okay…” you say.
“Y/N there’s some things you should know. One my marriage is a sham. Bruce and I married one another for my citizenship. He wanted to make his ex jealous and I just wanted to stay in the country.”
“Wait, you aren’t in love with him?”
“I never have been… are you mad at me?”
“No of course not I’m just confused as to why you never said anything I wouldn’t have told anyone.” You chuckled.
“I don’t know, I guess I was worried if I said anything you would have told Quinn and she definitely wouldn’t have let you be my friend. That’s not really what I’ve been scared to tell you.”
“Hey you shouldn't ever be scared to say anything to me.”
“Someone stole your chance at MIT, and I’m pregnant.” She word vomited all over you.
“Wait what?! No start over.” You shook your head.
“Tony checked with MIT to see why you got declined and found out you were accepted on a full ride but someone declined it.”
“What?” You said in disbelief.
“Could it have been Quinn?”
“Oh my gosh.” You sat back down in shock you couldn’t believe it. “I-…Yeah it could have been her.” You shake your head before holding it in your hands.
“I’m sorry baby. I’m so sorry.” She said rubbing your back. “You had your career stolen from you.l”
You began crying thinking about how Quinn could have done this to you.
“Oh, Y/N, baby.” Natasha brings you in her arms.
“Did/ Did you just say you’re pregnant?” You sniffled.
“Maybe.” She squeaked.
You looked at her as if to say ‘tell the truth’.
“Yes. I took 3 tests Y/N.”
“Wow. I thought you… couldn’t?”
“I was told all my life I couldn’t.”
“So this is a miracle baby?”
Natasha’s eyes started tearing up as she nodded with pursed lips.
“Nat, that's amazing.” You said softly, bringing her back in a hug.
“You’re not upset?” She asked.
“That you’re pregnant? No of course not that’s no one’s fault it just happened. It’s not our baby’s fault-“ Natasha cut you off kissing you as she straddled you.
“Hmm Nat hun we-“
“Make love to me Y/N.”
“Let me get a divorce first.”
“Wait-“ Natasha looked down looking for any lies.
“We’ve been sneaking around and I’ve sort of been feeling guilty about it. Quinn is the mother of my children even though she is semi evil she still deserves to know, and you deserve someone who isn’t married.”
“Baby.” She whispered softly, kissing your head.
“Natasha I’m in love with you.”
“I love you too!” She smiled leaning down to kiss your lips and her body began rocking. “I’m not sharing you with her anymore.”
“Hmm Nat no baby we should wait.”
“You just told me you love me. I can’t help it if I really want you to make love to me all night long.” She threw her head back arching her back.
“Hmm.” You sighed feeling your cock grow with need. “I want to. Oh fuck you have no idea how bad I wanna worship your body right now. Take my sweet time making this tight little pussy squirt all over daddy.”
“Then do it daddy. Show mommy how much you love her.”
“I can’t believe I got you pregnant.” You chuckled, kissing her lips.
“I’m so happy Y/N.”
“Just let me divorce her and we can finally be together.”
“You can move in here with me. I have rooms for the kids.”
“We might need an extra one for the baby.”
“I can’t believe it’s finally happening.”
Natasha didn’t want to wait. She unzipped your pants, pumping your cock a bit before pushing your inside of her.
“Oh my-” She kissed away your moans as she rode you faster and faster. She was so unbelievably horny for you.
“Oh daddy.” She husked, leaning her forehead against yours.
“Go on baby cum around daddys dick.”
“I love you so much.” She gasped.
“I love you too baby. So damn much.”
She moaned loudly as her hips halted her walls clamping tight around you. “Say it again.” She whines.
“I love you Natasha. I love you so much baby.” You groan as you palm her ass cheeks. “I love you, I love you, I love you and this luscious ass.”
She giggled, kissing you as you quickly laid her down against the sofa. Her legs widen and lock around you. You begin humping into her, feeling your cock twitching as her moaning begins getting louder and louder.
“That’s it my love let go.”
“Fuck me harder daddy.” She groans as you nibble her nape slamming down against her hips harder and harder as her hands grip your ass.
“Oh fuck I’m gonna cum baby.”
“Me too daddy. Keep going!”
You groan as you increase your motion going faster and harder with each stroke.
She locks you in place as she cums around your cock and you groan feeling her walls milk you dry.
“I’m telling her tonight my love I promise.” You pant.
A year later you divorced Quinn and now have a little bundle of joy in the next room with your soon to be wife.
“I can’t wait to marry you.” You sigh, holding Natasha from behind as she looks down at your baby.
“Me either.” She sighed leaning against you.
Finley was happy to have Natasha as a step mom. Beth wasn’t too keen on it but she will with time. As for Quinn, your relationship with her is strictly about the girls. She’s still sad you’re gone and upset that she lost you. But at least now she has Rachel to hold her when she cries.
You’ve never been happier with a great career ahead of you at Stark Industries, two beautiful daughters, a gorgeous wife, and a little baby in her arms.

Tumblr media
“You really ate that and have the gall, the gumption to call it food?” Barbara says, baffled by the story you told her as you both were making your coffee. Somehow on the walk in, the conversation had gone from the muffin you got on your way to work, to the topic of childhood lunches.
You laugh, “listen, bologna and ketchup was the only consistent thing I ate until, like, middle school.”
“And you enjoyed that?” she says with a shocked face and what you guess is minor disgust from her downturned lips. You nod in response with a little mhm and Barbara’s hand comes up to hide your face from her line of sight, turning away so as to not laugh right at you. She’s nothing if not polite. Her reaction only makes you laugh more.
You both sober up as you hear the door opening, and there’s equal gratefulness for it being Melissa that enters the room. Your eyes flick over her quickly, taking in her pink top you don’t think you’ve seen before and black leather pants that you’ve certainly never forgotten her wearing. Her eyeliner is perfect, but it doesn’t hide the darker circles under her eyes, the folders in her bag telling you stayed up late to grade assignments.
Barbara greets her while you silently step away to the cabinet, grabbing an orange mug out. You know exactly how she takes her coffee, at least how she takes the bitter lounge coffee, with a sugar and a hefty pour of milk, only the one percent though. Just as she finishes unpacking her stuff and sits down to keep talking with Barb, you return to your spot across from her.
Her eyes move to you, watching you test the coffee with a small sip off the edge. You think a moment before pushing the mug over to her, a tiny smile crossing your lips. She raises a brow, taking a small sip of her own to test it. “It’s perfect, hon, thank you,” she says, just a little ruffled that you pay attention enough to get her coffee right and that she’d never gotten her coffee to taste this good.
“Anything for you,” is your earnest response. With the smile still on your lips, you send a wink her way before your attention is stolen by more people filtering into the room. As you chat over your shoulder with Gregory, Melissa faces her lap, desperate to get rid of the blush that painted her cheeks at the ease of your attention and words.
She decides to stay a little quieter, listening to the conversation Barbara is having with Janine, sipping on her coffee that she was holding close to her chest. There’s a prickly feeling on the side of her face, and when she turns she finds your eyes on her. They flick from her eyes to her shirt, scanning her the sleeves and stitching, and she has to pretend she didn’t notice the barely lingering look at her chest.
“New shirt?” you ask when your eyes meet hers.
She takes in a deep breath, “yeah, just got it yesterday. D’ya not like it or something?”
“What? No, Mel,” you said, “you look beautiful. As always.”
There’s not enough time for her to hide before her cheeks are an even brighter shade of pink than her shirt, eyes blinking rapidly. Melissa prays that Barbara didn't just hear you say those words, let alone see her reaction to them. Whatever this was between you two, it’s new and fragile and not fully defined, and you both agreed you don’t want to let anyone in just yet.
—☽—
Melissa has become attuned to you. She knows when you’re around well before she sees you, always able to sense your presence. If it was because she was always looking for you, she’d never admit it.
With soft steps knowing it’s a quiet time in her room, you approach her classroom as a stop on your way to the lounge for popcorn. Stopping in her doorway, she immediately turns and looks at you. Eyes widening at the immediate attention, you give her a little wave.
“Alright little eagles, I’m gonna be in the hall. Youse better stay on your best behavior,” she says as she stands up from the desk, making an ‘I’m-watching-you’ motion. Joining you in the hall with a little smile on her face, she leans against the wall.
“You didn’t have to leave your class,” you say as you match her position, leaning into her space just a little.
Her smile grows a bit, “then why’d you stop by?”
“Just wanted to see you, that’s all. But getting you to talk to you is definitely a bonus,” you answer, the grin on your face stretching as you look at her while you speak.
That wasn’t the answer she was expecting, not that she really knew what she thought you’d say. Licking her lips, she ducks her head and shakes it, but only for a second. Looking back up at you, she manages to say, “you just came to stare at me then?”
“I prefer the word ‘admire,’ but same-difference.”
“Yeah, right,” she says with a little scoff, trying hard to keep from allowing the heat to creep up her neck.
You mock her a little scoff with a smirk as you push off the wall, about to start back on your journey. “Whatever you say, gorgeous,” you say before turning away. Your turn stutters as you come back around, fingers raising to her necklace to fix the chain so the clip was at the back of her neck. You mumble a barely audible there we go before you turn around and continue on your way.
Melissa is frozen in place for a moment, hand raising to her neck, tracing the spot your hand ran against. A thankful thought passed her mind that the hall was empty, not even a doc camera around. She was not above threatening them to delete the footage or smashing the camera that caught her flustered and dazed from your affection.
—☽—
At lunch, she has to refrain from looking at you, knowing that if she even dared to, that her cheeks would be as red as the firetrucks she adores. Thinking instead that she didn’t want to talk at the moment, you were conversing with Jacob about a movie he watched over the weekend and was dying to share it with someone. Admittedly, Melissa was half listening, really only to hear your voice.
There was a slight snicker from the couches, a sort of snicker that peaked Melissa’s attention. She sees Mr. Morton and another eighth-grade teacher peering at yours and Jacob’s direction, clearly listening to your conversation and finding it humorous. Focusing her ears, she hears mumbles of lame as hell and great, another freak. Her brows furrow and fists clench, Barbara quickly notices her friend’s change in mood and gives her a questioning gaze that Melissa ignores.
“Aye,” Melissa pipes up, the whole room goes silent. Her eyes stay on Morton and what’s-her-face as she menacingly says, “watch your mouth or I watch it for you. Got it?” The only response either one gives her is a fast nod before averting their eyes, frozen in place from fear.
When Melissa’s glare finally leaves them, everyone else’s eyes drop to avoid being next, except for yours and Barbara’s.
“What was that for?” Barbara speaks quietly so only the three of you at the table can hear.
“Nothing, Barb. Just didn’t like what they were saying is all,” she answers, purposefully keeping her eyes off both of you.
Your hand goes to her arm in an attempt to comfort her a bit, thumb caressing her skin, “what were they saying?”
Melissa desperately tries to ignore her rapid heart, “it was nothing, hon. Don’t worry about it.” Unable to resist a little bit of extra contact, she pats your hand reassuringly. Neither of you notice Barbara’s eyebrows fly up in surprise at the outward affection you both displayed.
When lunch ended, Barbara went back to her classroom to do her lesson on the changing seasons, and you and Melissa both had prep periods while your students went off to recess and their extra activities. Taking the extra time you rarely got to have together during the work day, you spent the majority of the hour grading next to each other. Little smiles and checking in made you both ditch the grading altogether, just enjoying each other's company.
“If I invited you over for dinner tonight, what would you say to that?” she asks with a coy smile.
“I’d say I’d love to have dinner with you,” you reply with a tad of shyness, playing with the rings on her hand you were holding in your lap.
“Six work for you?”
“I’ll be there, on the dot.”
Your phone buzzes on the table next to you, making you flinch at the sudden intrusion. She heard you mumble shit under your breath, before you stand and hurriedly collect your things. Double checking that you had everything, you let out a deep breath.
Without much thought, you lean down and press a soft kiss to her cheek, “I’ll see you later.” Before she can  respond you’re rushing out of the room to get your kids from art class.
Melissa’s head drops to her desk and grumbles, “gonna be the death of me, that one.”
—☽—
In her kitchen, you’d found that your favorite spot was sitting on the counter next to her. She let you ‘help’ by letting you add the seasonings, but wouldn’t let you near much else. You were content to look at her while she worked in her element, an ease and happiness in her movements that you delight in.
With just having to wait for the vegetables to cook down a bit, she turns to you and leans in close, arm brushing your thigh. You bite your lip, trying to suppress a smile, and raise your hand to brush hair out of her face. Your hand slides from behind her ear to cup her jaw, thumb stroking her cheek.
“You’re so pretty, you know?”
She doesn’t respond. Instead she leans into you, her hands moving from the counter to your thighs. Pink lips brush against yours, a silent question. This was all she’s been wanting since you two snuck away Friday as everyone left school, where she left you breathless in your empty classroom. The answer she gets is your lips pressing into her, soft and slow, savoring the taste of her. Melissa barely holds back a whine at the feeling of your lips on hers, she never thought she could miss a feeling so much, but a weekend apart from you had her craving your touch. Your tongue traces against her bottom lip, begging for entry, and she’s quick to grant it.
Unlike her, you don’t hold in a groan at the feeling of her mouth on yours. Your hands travel into her hair, lightly tugging her closer. The sensation has her hands gripping your thighs, using them to pull you into her. You feel a certain desperation in her kiss that allows you to take the lead easily, sucking her bottom lip between your teeth and biting gently before kissing her softer to make it better. Your legs wrap around her as you slow your lips, wanting her close as possible.
As you pull away, she pushes back in to catch your lips again for just a second. Her hands on your thighs are making it incredibly hard for you to focus on your already struggling breathing. There’s a muted moan from her as your fingers scratch her scalp, pulling gently as her soft hair.
“You’re trouble, you know?” she murmurs breathlessly, mirroring your previous question.
You smile as you rest your head against the cupboard behind you, still holding her face as you ask, “how so?”
“All you’re staring and flirting, you know exactly what I’m talking about,” she responds like it’s obvious.
“Again, I was admiring, not staring. And when was I flirting?” Your tone and the look on your face makes the redhead realize that you truly weren’t aware of the effect you were having on her.
Her hands slide up to your waist, your shirt raising just enough for her pinkies to brush your skin. The goosebumps that develop under her touch makes her heart skip a beat, loving that she had a similar effect on you. When she doesn’t answer you right away, you angle her face to bring her attention back to you, silently asking your question again with your eyes.
Melissa sighs, “saying you’d do ‘anything’ for me, calling me beautiful and pretty. You’re a flirt.”
“Those are just all true, not really flirting. I would do anything for you and you are very beautiful and very pretty,” you say, smiling. The heat in her cheeks spread to your hands, the warmth spreading to your heart. She tries to duck away but you’re faster, pulling her closer just barely to press a soft kiss to the corner of her lips.
She wants to respond, but no words form under your gaze. Your eyes avert from hers and she finds hers following where yours go. Suddenly the simmering of the vegetables in the pot reaches her ears, reminding her that there was a world outside your eyes and lips. Your hands drop from her face, letting her go to check on the food you can’t touch. She just squeezes your hips before letting go.
You’ll still be there when she gets back.

The Cantaloupe (The Surprise, Part 24)
Tumblr media
Emily Prentiss x fem!reader Warnings: hospital times, surgery, pregnancy times, some scary medical stuff, blood, unresolved ending (I promise there's a happy ending just... not in this chapter), explicit language (let me know if I've missed anything) Word count: 2.1k
Summary: Early labor has kicked in again. Only, this time, there's no reversing it.
Week 34: The Cantaloupe
“Emily!” you yelled from the bathroom, gripping at the edge of the counter next to you. A contraction rolled through your body, and by its intensity and length you felt sure you’d been having them for a while. Why hadn’t you woken up!? You’d only gotten up to pee and been shocked by the full flood of liquid that spilled out of you. It was your water breaking. The contraction had followed.
For her part, Emily launched herself into the bathroom so quickly she almost fell, blinking, pantsless, leaning against the doorframe. It was 3:00 AM.
“You alright?” she groaned, trying to wake up fully. “What’s wrong?”
Sweat beaded at the back of your neck, and you felt well and truly panicked. It was still way too early to be having the baby. Tears pricked at the corners of your eyes, and you were dangerously close to hyperventilating.
“M-my water broke,” you said, your voice quiet and shaky as you started to rock back and forth. “And I’m having contractions.” Your voice caught in your throat. “Em,” you choked out. “It’s still too early…”
Emily was fully awake now, surging toward you and bending to hold your face in her hands. “Hey, shh, it’s okay,” she said, using her thumbs to wipe tears from under your eyes. Her own eyes were wide, and you knew she was scared, too, that she was putting on a brave face for you, and you loved her desperately for it.
“It’s gonna be okay. I’m gonna grab you some clothes, alright? And get dressed. And we’ll go to the hospital.” She opened the cabinets and looked for a pad for you to wear.
You were so short of breath you felt like you might faint, like you might throw up. “Em, she’s too small!” you cried. “What if I lose her!?”
“Y/N,” Emily soothed, kneeling in front of you and pulling you into her embrace. “You’re okay, honey. The baby will be alright. But right now I need you to breathe. Can you do that for me?”
You could feel the rise and fall of Emily’s chest and tried hard to match your breath to hers. Once you’d calmed down a bit, Emily lifted your head and kissed you quickly. She nodded at you, as if to confirm that you’d be okay if she left you for a moment. You nodded back, sniffling.
She patted your thigh, then quickly exited the room. When she came back, she had on a tank top and sweatpants. She handed you a stack of clothes before holding up one of her button-up work shirts to you.
“You think it’ll be cold at the hospital?” she asked, trying to get you out of your head.
You shrugged, pulling on your sports bra. “It was last time.”
She nodded and pulled on the shirt, letting it hang loose and unbuttoned around her as she knelt to help you with your sweatpants. You had a hard time getting your feet through the leg holes these days.
You stood slowly, cautiously, letting Emily slip your Birkenstocks onto your feet. When she stood, you just looked at each other for a moment and, before you could even really register what you were doing, you’d thrown your arms around Emily, pressing your face into her chest and hugging her as hard as you could. You felt her arms snake around you, her fingers press into your back, into the skin at your neck, her breath by your ear.
“You ready?” Emily whispered, pulling back to look at you. You nodded, and she squeezed your hand, leading you down to the car.
“Should we bring the hospital bag?” you thought out loud.
Emily locked the apartment door behind you, whispering, “I’ve had it in the car since last time.”
You felt a brief, lovely moment of calm looking at your wife. Strong, beautiful Em who took such good care of you. You leaned forward in the elevator to place a quick kiss on her cheek.
She furrowed her eyebrows, but smiled at you, her eyes still sleepy. “What was that for?”
You shrugged. “I just love you.”
You were both quiet in the car. Emily drove as quickly as she could without sirens and lights at her disposal. You’d tried the radio, but found it just made you more nervous. You gripped the center console when another contraction rocked you. Emily replaced it with her hand, concerned eyes shifting between you and the road.
At the hospital, she quickly found you a wheelchair and, as usual when she was anxious for you, raised all kinds of hell until you were safely in a room with a doctor. Emily sat next to you, leg bouncing, as the doctor ran an ultrasound wand over your belly.
“Hmm,” he said, eyebrows furrowed.
You and Emily shared a concerned glance.
He breathed out heavily before removing his glasses and looking at you. “Ms. Y/L/N, there’s no need for alarm yet, but your baby’s heartbeat does sound irregular.”
You felt like crying again and reached out to grasp Emily’s hand.
“There could be any number of causes, but I think it’s gonna be in baby’s best interest that we get him out of there as soon as possible, okay?”
“But she’s… she’s alive?” you squeaked out.
“Yes, ma’am.” He swiveled his stool around and looked at your charts. “Alright, Dr. Delgado has been alerted to the situation and she’s on her way. Right now, a few of our nurses are gonna get you prepped for a c-section.”
Yours and Emily’s voices overlapped one another. “Wait, wait! A c-section!?”
“They’re very common, very safe,” the doctor reassured you. “A vaginal birth isn’t an option here. We don’t know what’s causing baby’s heartbeat to stutter, and you're far enough away from your due date that he’s still breech.”
“Well, can I… can I stay awake?” you asked.
He nodded. “Yes, ma’am. We’ll apply a local anesthetic to your lower spine.”
“Okay,” you conceded, trying not to look too terrified.
When he left the room, you turned to Emily, and even she was looking a little pale. She brushed a strand of hair out of your face, watching you with worried eyes.
You shivered a bit, nerves coursing through you. “You ready to meet her?” you asked, trying to focus on the one good thing to come from all of this.
A smile flashed across Emily’s face and she kissed you quickly. “So ready. God, I hope he’s got your nose.”
What felt like mere minutes later, you were being wheeled to an operating room. Emily held your hand, all dressed up like a doctor with a gauze gown and hair net and mask. You were just glad they were letting her go in with you. You didn’t think you could do it alone.
Dr. Delgado was waiting for you in the OR, and you’d never been so relieved to see a doctor in your life. This whole evening had been one unexpected and terrifying thing after another, so to see her in here made you feel much safer.
They hooked you up to several machines and hung a little curtain just under your chest so you (and Emily) wouldn’t see the blood and freak out. They rolled a stool over for Emily, and she perched next to you, one hand holding yours, the other running comfortingly through your hair.
It was hard to believe, hard to imagine that everything you’d worked toward for the last eight months, everything you’d put your body through, everything you’d hoped for, longed for–it was here. It was time. It had all led up to this.
The OR nurses helped Dr. Delgado into her gloves, and she turned then to you and Emily.
“Well, ladies. You ready for this?”
You looked at one another and nodded.
“More than likely, the baby will be just fine,” she said, as the other doctors and nurses prepped the surgical site. You’d never been more thankful for anesthesia. “But there’s also a good chance that he’ll need some time in the NICU. We may have to whisk him away pretty quick if he needs immediate attention. This does not necessarily mean that something is really wrong. But if you’d like to accompany the baby, Emily, you’re welcome to.”
Emily looked at you, as if for permission. You squeezed her hand and nodded. “Go with the baby, honey. I’ll be okay.”
“Okay,” she whispered. “I’ll keep him safe, I promise.”
“I know you will,” you whispered, looking deep into her eyes. And for neither the first time nor the last time you were struck with the thought that there was no one in the world, and never had been, that you loved more than Emily.
“Alright,” Dr. Delgado said to her team. “Let’s get in there.”
You could feel a vague sense of pressure against your skin sometimes but it was, otherwise, almost boring. Emily’s foot tapped incessantly, as it always did when she was anxious.
“I really want to see what’s going on over there,” she whispered to you, about fifteen minutes into the procedure, craning her neck slightly.
You gripped her hand and pulled her back to you. “No!” you protested. “So help me god, if you faint while I’m having our baby I will never forgive you.”
She rolled her eyes. “I’m not gonna faint. I’ve seen plenty of blood. Lots of bodies cut open.”
You grimaced. “Okay, well, you haven’t seen me cut open. Might feel a little different.”
She shrugged and nodded. “You’re probably right.” You winced and she furrowed her eyebrows at you. “You okay?”
You nodded, shutting your eyes for a moment. “Just dizzy.”
Emily ran her thumb back and forth over your eyebrows, just watching you, trying not to worry about you or the baby.
“Oh,” one of the doctors exclaimed. “That’s a lot of blood.”
Emily shot up, holding your hand tightly.
“Shit,” Dr. Delgado mumbled. “We’ve got a placental abruption.”
Various alarms started going off, and you glanced around, alarmed, trying to crane your neck to see what was going on. But your vision was swimming. You felt almost nauseated. You found it hard to focus, hard to keep your eyes open.
“Alright, baby’s out,” one of the doctors called.
Emily watched your eyelids flutter shut. “Honey,” she called, patting the side of your face, her voice growing more and more worried. “Baby, stay with me.
When she could no longer get you to open your eyes, she yelled, “Hey, something’s wrong here!”
“Moms lost a lot of blood,” a doctor called.
“Where is it coming from!?”
“We’re losing her!”
Dr. Delgado’s voice rang out above everyone else’s: “Get the other mom out of here! Emily, go!”
Emily felt panic rise inside her, icy and burning, as she watched you with wide eyes, pleading with you to wake up. “Come on, Y/N, come on,” she mumbled, her face inches from yours, tears brimming in her eyes. “Don’t fucking quit on me, honey. Don’t you fucking quit.”
“Baby’s not breathing!”
“Take her to the NICU!” Dr. Delgado ordered. “And get other mom out! Emily, you need to leave so I can save your wife’s life. Okay? Somebody page general!”
Emily felt like her world was falling apart, like everything she’d worked so hard to build, everything she held dear, was breaking in front of her. A nurse grasped her arm and pulled her toward the door, and she locked eyes with Dr. Delgado once more.
“I’ll do everything I can, Emily,” she assured her. “Now get out. Stay with your daughter. She needs you.”
Emily took one last look at you, at your body, bloody and splayed on the operating table. You were right. It was different when it was you. Then she took a shaky breath and stepped into the hallway, racing after the tiny crib cart that had emerged just moments before her.
“Hey!” she called after them, catching up to lay a hand on the edge of the crib. Her breath caught in her throat as she looked at the baby. So tiny. So beautiful, even all scrunched up. Even as one of the doctors pressed air into her lungs. Emily felt a tear drip down her cheek.
A girl. Her girl. Her girl with her mama’s nose. Emily sniffed and wiped her face as they all clambered into the elevator, heading up to the NICU floor. She slipped her pinky finger into her daughter’s tiny, warm hand and let out a shaky breath.
“It’s okay, ma fifille,” she cooed, voice breaking. “I’m right here. Mommy’s here.”

It's from her
Captain John price x fem!reader
Summary: The task force learns that john's beanie holds way more importance to him than it should
Warnings!: sad and vulnerable john, prob ooc, not edited
Tumblr media
Leaving for a mission was always hard. He knew that you struggled immensly with it and while he never showed it, it took it's toll on him too.
To leave you behind. Knwowing that you had a hard time because of him.
To have the mission ahead of him. The knowledge that he'd be away for weeks or even months on end. The contact to you was rare and it took a lot of effort for him to be able to have a phone call or receive a letter from you. He always worried. While he was the one fighting for his life, there was always a part of his mind that thought about how you were doing, if something happened, if you needed him...The constant uncertainty was driving him on edge sometimes.
And he missed you. Oh, how he missed you. He spent so many lonely nights in his tent or a safe house imagining you beside him while the snores of his comrades filled his ears.
John clung to the few things he had with him that were you. One of them being his hat.
It was one of the first things he got from you. You had knitted the beanie when you first moved in together. Every evening when you two had cuddled up on the couch, the TV playing, you had knitted. He had seen it develop and it was the most calming sound to him, whenever he heard your needles clicking softly against each other. Not until you finished the hat had he been aware that you made it for him.
"Here. I made this for you." You had smiled at him proudly as you handed over the dark-knitted beanie.
It was nothing special and with closer inspection, a few mistakes could be sighted but for john it meant the world. At first, he had struggled to even think of a response as he gripped the soft fabric in his rough hands.
"I know you always like to have something on your head and I thought that would keep you warm when you're in a cold area..." you had muttered out your explanation.
"thank you." He had replied quietly. The love and astonishment had been evident in his expression.
There were times when he thought back to that moment and wished he had said more. That he would've been able to express what it meant to him. But you knew without him saying so. It was clear in his actions.
It was endearing how he still took it on every mission after all these years.
The 441 started to notice it's importance to him when he couldn't find it at base. His usual calm demeanor was slightly irritable and underlined by the strong walk as he barged into the common room as if he were on a mission to save the queen.
"Does any of you shitheads have my hat?" His deep voice made the whole room go quiet.
Soap and ghost exchanged glances. "Got no reason to steal your hat captain." Ghost grumbled out.
John clenched and unclenched his fists multiple times. The muscle in his jaw tightened. "You'll have no problem then if I check your rooms lieutenant." There were some unspoken words between them as two pairs of hard eyes met each other.
"No problem." Ghost replied.
Price took a look around the room before giving them a nod and leaving for their private quarters.
"What's wrong with him?" Gaz leaned over the table to his comrades.
"No bloody idea. Probably got his period." Ghost grumbled.
Price rummaged through room after room methodically. The drawers and cabinets were thrown open and closed softly after close inspection. He muttered a few annoyed curses when he arrived at soap's room: the drawers were already opened but his clothes were probably more scattered over the floor room than in his closet. Room inspections were obviously in dire need of attention.
When he made it to Gaz's room the hat was the first thing his eyes spotted as he opened the door. There it was. slightly frizzy and worn at the edges but still looking soft the way it always did. Except that it didn't lay at its usual spot in his neatly organized closet.
"Can't keep their bloody hands to their own stuff." John grumbled.
The tension fell from his body as he picked the beanie up and took it back to his room. He laid it back to the dedicated spot with a scarf next to it. His eyes observed how it seemed to lay so innocently in front of him. A tired sigh escaped his lips before he pushed himself into an upright position and locked the door to his room for good measure.
In the next moment he dragged gaz out of his chair pressed him against the wall. Johns hand clasped the collar of gazs uniform. While gaz grunted from the impact of his captains weight against him, his face stayed nonchalant. If you knew him better you'd seen the small sliver of nervousness in his eyes.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing with my stuff?" Price gritted out.
"I didn't take anything from you sir." Gaz shot back almost angrily at the accusation.
"You think that's funny huh?" John sneered. It was unusual for the captain to throw angry words at his team. He was always the composed one; giving them a sense of confidence and security in the battlefield.
"No sir."
"Hmhm. I found something in your quarters. My goddamn hat on top of your closet."
Gaz frowned. "Captain I didn't- sir I don't know anything about that."
Price grunted in frustration before ghost stepped to them and slightly pulled the captain back. "Take it easy cap."
John let himself fall back before pointing a warning finger at the young sergeant. "Just keep your hands off of my things. Especially that hat. Got it?"
Gaz gave him a nod but he didn't back down from his position as innocent. The air was tense as everyone watched the ongoing confrontation.
Ghost gave his captain a look which held john back made him leave the room back to his own office (where he should've worked for the last hour). The lieutenant followed him out as if to escort him. "Why are ya followin' me simon?"
Ghost was about to protest about his name choice but decided there were more important matters at hand right now.
"I figured you'd want to tell me what's going on?" The deep voice came from behind the mask.
Price stopped in his tracks and crossed his arms while shifting his weight onto his toes. "What?"
While price was a tall and muscular man he had no chance against the build of ghost as he towered opposite of him.
"You're going wild over a damn hat for no reason." His tone sounded almost bored.
"It's not just a bloody hat!" John's jaw clicked.
Ghost scoffed. "Then what is this about?"
"With all due respect lieutenant, you wouldn't understand."
That was it. It was never brought up again until a few months later on a mission at the Russian border.
A small safe house offered them shelter before they took off for the next day.
The night was a troubled one. Everyone was anxious and tired, which was a dangerous mix of feelings in a group of men. But they were trained for this. Keeping one eye and ear open constantly; without pause. This was the requirement to survival.
John took the night shift after Ghost woke him up out of a rather unpleasant dream. Everything was quiet except for a few night animals chirping in the forest surrounding them. The sun already brought a bit of light through the windows.
He sat down against a pillar and rubbed his exhausted eyes with his calloused palms. A defeated sigh escaped his lips as he took the gun into his hand and let his head lull back against the wood.
The last few months had been rough. The 141 was on this mission since almost two months now and it felt like they didn't get any closer to their target. For john it meant two months without you. No call, no letter, nothing. For all he knew you could be laying in bed with another guy right now. No, what was he thinking. That was a riddiculous thought. He grunted quietly as he rubbed his hand over his beard. John definitely needed sleep.
His beard and hair had grown out over the time, which made him think of the way you'd sit him on the toilet lid and step between his legs to shave his beard for him. You never realised how that position made it quite impossible for him to relax under your intense stare. He smiled at the memory and simultaneously hope that he'd be able to be in that position soon again.
The nightmare had made him unpleasantly agitated and worried. John just hoped, prayed and begged Laswell to make sure that you were okay.
A few hours later the sun started to rise above the horizon, which brought john his clue to wake everyone up and get going for the day ahead. When everybody was checked and price paced slowly in front of the group to explain the plan his voice got stuck in his throat. He had been telling them that they would be making their way into the snowy area your voice made it's way into his thoughts.
'to keep you warm in colder regions.' you had said with that sweet smile when you gave him his hat.
The hat.
He didn't have his beanie on. It got soaked through yesterday and he took it off to dry. But they had checked the whole safehouse already, ready for departure.
"My hat. Has anyone seen it?" he questioned the group of men standing before him. They looked stunned at his sudden change of topic.
When they didn't answer he started walking up the stairs. Frantically going through the rooms again. Soap went with a nod to the others after him. "Capt'n. We're ready for departure. None of us saw yer hat."
John shook his head. "Not without it." He searched the drawers in the room even though he knew it couldn't be there. His expression was stoic and unreadable but there were emotions behind those blue eyes.
They gave him a few minutes but when he didn't make a move to get on with it ghost shouted up the stairs. "Cap we have a schedule remember?" It sounded slightly irritated coming from behind the mask.
"I said I'm not going without it!" John thundered back.
He couldn't leave without it. It felt like leaving you behind. It was irrational and stupid and the hat was going to cost him his goddamn live someday but he needed it. That feeling couldn't be explained with rationality or tactic. you would have described it as love. But john would rather name it desperation.
"It's just a bloody hat. We need to get going." Ghost came up beside him.
"It's not. It's from her." John pulled his lips in a thin line as he exhaled through his nose sharply. The room went quiet for a moment at his admission.
Ghosts expression stayed emotionless as he crossed his bulky arms over his chest.
"Yer bonnie wife?" soap asked for clarification.
John nodded sharply and but turned away quickly from the pair when soap raised a brow.
"Honestly dinna know yer were married to her until a few weeks back. I'm sure ye'll survive a week without the hat and see yer lass soon hm?"
Ghost grunted in frustration. "Seriously? That's been the reason for this bloody hat."
"I wouldn't expect you to understand. When you're married we can have this conversation." John shot back at his lieutenant. His voice thick with accent and a deep grumbling from the throat.
Soap got between them before Ghost had the chance to respond. "So we ready to go then? Captain?"
John pursed his lips and it pained him to go through with it but he shut off his emotions like he so often did and gave them a stern nod. He started to talk about their upcoming task again as he took the lead once more.
When he got home to you a week later he couldn't hold back a few tears in his eyes when you presented him a new, more colourful beanie, that you made when he was gone. And to his delight you ushered him into the bathroom to shave him first thing in the morning.
The task force never dared to touch his hat again.

fic: if i bleed (you'll be the last to know) (13/?)

Part Summary: “I love you, Leigh,” you declare, the words tumbling out almost uncontrollably. Ever since you stepped off that plane and your feet touched back on home ground, you've been aching to say it. Her eyes turn steely, the brief flicker of doubt swallowed up by resolve. “You say that now,” Leigh counters, her laugh dark and hollow. “But I'm not easy. Loving me might just kill you.”
Pairing: Leigh Shaw x Fem!Reader | Word count for this part: 5.900+ | Warnings: Some angst | Author's note: I think there will be just 2-3 more chapters before we close this book. Just fyi!

When you finally stir awake, the room is washed in a soft morning light. Beside you, Leigh is already up, sitting on the edge of the bed in yesterday’s clothes. Her hair is pulled back casually, a few strands hanging loose, looking a bit disheveled but still unintentionally perfect—or perhaps that's just your infatuation speaking in the early morning haze. But you can't help yourself.
“Morning,” you mumble, voice gravelly from sleep, as you try to tame your own bedhead. You're still barely clothed under the thin covers in contrast to Leigh’s state of fully dressed. The realization makes you blush, remembering last night’s affairs. Subconsciously, you pull the covers tighter around your body, a wave of shyness washing over you.
“Hey,” Leigh whispers in return, giving you a small smile.
You prop yourself up on your elbows, feeling a pleasant ache in your inner thighs and back. “What time is it?” you ask, glancing around, trying to determine the time based solely on the sunlight filtering through the windows.
“It's still early,” she says, checking her phone. “But I've been up for a bit.”
You notice the creases in her clothes, evidence of a night spent on your floor. She seems a bit distant this morning, thoughtful, like she's already planning her day.
“You could have woken me,” you say, letting a small, teasing smile play across your lips.
Leigh shakes her head. “You were sleeping so soundly, I didn't want to wake you,” she says, her eyes holding yours for a moment longer than necessary. There's a warmth there, but also something you can't quite read.
“But I did make coffee,” she offers, tilting her head toward the kitchen. Her eyes land on the pile of your clothes scattered on the floor, remnants of just a few hours earlier. She clears her throat and her cheeks color a little as she says, “I'll let you get dressed first then.” Without another word, she heads back to the kitchen.
You grab some clothes and quickly dress, and then a thought hits you. Was Leigh watching you sleep? The idea makes you a bit giddy, flipping a fluttery feeling through your stomach. It's strange to think about, but also kind of endearing. Her sticking around this morning feels like a small victory. Being with Leigh felt good, but you weren’t sure what to expect at sunrise.
In the kitchen, you watch Leigh move with an easy familiarity, exploring the cabinets and figuring out where things are stashed. She quickly locates the mugs right above the coffee brewer, grabs two, and sets them down on the counter.
“How do you take yours?” she asks, her hand hovering over the sugar and cream.
You shrug. “Two creams, two sugars?”
Leigh is meticulous, measuring each spoonful of sugar, ensuring there's just the right amount of room for cream. Every small adjustment she makes for your preference makes your heart skip. You’re touched by the simple fact that she cares enough to know and remember exactly how you like it.
You realize, not for the first time, but perhaps the most profoundly, that you’re falling in love with her. You have been for some time now, but this morning it feels like the descent down a rollercoaster—fast, exhilarating, and a little bit terrifying. There's no slowing down or stopping it; you just have to close your eyes and hold on for dear life.
As you both sip your coffee, you find yourself easing into the comfort of small talk, curious about Leigh's return to working at The Beautiful Beast. She mentioned needing to help her mom out, especially after a few recent resignations—a situation you understand all too well from your own experiences with running a business and the never-ending struggles of hiring staff and managing them.
While part of you listens, another part is preoccupied with thoughts of last night. You want to delve into what happened, to ask if she enjoyed herself, and to apologize for not being more assertive. You want to confirm what it means for both of you, but the thought makes your hand tremble slightly around your coffee mug.
Before you can gather your courage, Leigh’s phone vibrates loudly on the table. She checks it and her expression tightens. “I need to go,” she says suddenly, standing up.
You automatically stand up too, but without a clear next move, you find yourself frozen, waiting for something to happen. Both of you are just standing there—Leigh figuring out how to leave, and you, how to say goodbye.
Then, as if deciding for both of you, Leigh steps forward and gives you a quick peck on the lips. “I’ll see you later,” she says.
“Bye,” you reply, a bit dazed as you watch her grab her things and leave.
You touch your lips, feeling the ghost of Leigh’s quick kiss, an electric zip that lingers like the aftertaste of strong coffee. You’ve seen Leigh in nothing but shadows and moonlight, felt the undeniable press of her bare skin against yours, but the shock of her kiss never dulls. It’s a bit like being struck by lightning—no matter how many times it happens, you never get used to the jolt.

Sara sits confidently across from you, dressed in a black turtleneck and slacks, attire appropriate for a formal interview. Earlier, she mentioned she's finishing her thesis and is interested in a part-time job that can accommodate her academic commitments, which seems ideal. However, the situation is far from perfect. Ideally, hiring someone you once found attractive isn't the best practice, but she's the only applicant who has responded to your job postings so far.
Feeling her eyes fixed on you, you fiddle with the sleeves of your coat while reviewing her résumé. Between you is a history as transient as a wisp of smoke but clear nonetheless. You’d almost ventured into something with her after a lonely night spent swiping through an app you swore off a dozen times before. And with the recent memory of Leigh leaving your apartment still vivid in your mind, you question whether considering Sara for the job is the right decision.
“So?” Sara ventures after you've been quiet for a while. You feel your cheeks warm with a blush, realizing you've been stalling. Forcing yourself, you tear your eyes away from her rather impressive qualifications.
Letting out a sigh, you set down your glasses, rubbing the bridge of your nose. “Honestly, this just doesn't feel serious,” you confess. “I keep expecting Suzie to pop out with her phone, recording this whole thing as a prank.”
Sara's laughter spills out, rich and melodious. It’s infectious, and after a while you find yourself chuckling too.
“I promise, I'm serious,” she assures you, still smiling. She leans forward, her voice dropping to almost a whisper. “Look, our history was brief. We didn’t really date, we just met that one time—”
“Twice,” you interrupt, unable to resist correcting her.
Her smile broadens. “—outside of the app. We can be friends, forget all that other stuff, okay?”
You consider her words, searching her face for any sign of discomfort or hesitation. Finding none, you ask, “And that won’t be weird for you?”
“Not at all,” she replies confidently, her head shaking slightly. “And… if you're alright with just part-time for now?”
“Yeah, I can manage reception on my own some days,” you say. But there's another nagging thought that won't let you go.
Sara quickly catches on to your dithering. “What is it?”
“It's just... aren't you worried this job is a bit beneath you? You're chasing an MBA. Wouldn’t you rather find something more aligned with your degree?” you ask.
She leans back, her eyes narrowing slightly in thought. “I’ve considered that,” she says slowly, “but right now, the flexibility this job offers is what I need most. And honestly, I believe in what your clinic is doing—it's a good place to be, even if it’s just a stop along the way.”
You smile at that, genuinely touched by her kind words about your establishment and the work you do.
“Alright, then, I just have one more question to, uh, make this official,” you say, shuffling the papers in front of you. “You've got impressive organizational skills and a solid background in customer service. How do you think these will help you in a medical office setting?”
Sara doesn’t hesitate, her answer ready almost before you've finished speaking.

“Are we sure it's okay to leave Sara by herself while we grab lunch?” you ask, a slight frown forming as you think about what might need handling while you're gone.
Suzie gives you a reassuring smile as she slings her purse over her shoulder. “She’ll be fine. It’s usually quiet around this time, and I’ve given her a rundown of the essentials. Plus, she knows she can text me if anything comes up.”
You can't shake off a sliver of worry, knowing how overwhelming the first day can be. “Alright,” you say, still unconvinced but trusting Suzie’s judgment. “Let’s make it quick then.”
The two of you make your way to a charming little café tucked around the corner. It's a snug nook, celebrated for its hearty sandwiches and home-cooked soups. As you walk, the idea of bringing Leigh here bubbles up in your thoughts—she'd appreciate their renowned kale soup, you reckon.
As you line up to order, Suzie nudges your shoulder lightly. “So, not weird at all hiring an old flame?” she teases.
You roll your eyes. “It's strictly professional. And technically, we never really dated. We just… hung out.”
“Yeah, you hung her out to dry.”
“I’m still your boss for the next two weeks,” you remind her jokingly.
Suzie smirks and raises her hands in mock surrender. “Okay, okay, boss. I'll behave.”
“But seriously, you can't tease me about Sara anymore because, you know…I'm with Leigh now,” you say, looking down at your feet, hiding your grin.
Suzie turns to you, her eyes widening. “Oh. When did this happen?” she asks, her tone noticeably flat. You were expecting her to be more excited about the news.
Your spirits dip a little at Suzie's lackluster reaction. You straighten up and decide to share the brief version of your reunion with Leigh. As you recount the events to Suzie, you keenly watch her reactions, hoping for a clue into her thoughts. You mention forgiving Leigh and how, after forgiveness was exchanged, Leigh kissed you. Throughout your story, Suzie's expression remains unreadably neutral.
When you finish, she finally speaks, “Honestly, I'm happy for you. Just make sure you're both on the same page.”
“She did stay until morning,” you tell Suzie, feeling a need to convince her—and maybe yourself—that this is significant. After all, someone making you coffee in the morning has to mean something, right?
“Okay, that’s definitely a good sign,” she says with cautious optimism. “But have you guys talked about what this all means? Like, are you actually together now or what?”
The reality of her question gradually settles on you after a few moments. “We haven't really defined anything,” you admit.
Suzie heaves a sigh just as it's her turn to order. She picks a dark chocolate frappuccino and a salmon bagel, loaded with extra cream cheese, then drifts off to a corner to wait while you place your order. As you step up to the counter, you realize you’ve lost your appetite. You settle for an Americano and a mixed bowl of fruit to go. When your food and drinks are ready, you both head to a corner booth by the window.
Suzie, picking up on your nervousness, advises, “Just take things slow, okay?”
You murmur a noncommittal, “Mhm,” your thoughts adding, Too late for that. The two of you eat in silence until the chime of a text notification breaks through—from Leigh.
You can feel Suzie’s curious gaze at you while you read Leigh’s text:
[12:33 PM] Leigh: Thanks for last night
You hover over the keypad, unsure how to respond.
You’re welcome?
The pleasure was all mine?
You shake your head, cringing at your own thoughts. Suzie catches your expression and squints at you. “Everything alright?” she asks.
“It’s Leigh,” you mumble, glancing briefly from your phone to meet Suzie’s questioning look.
“What did she say?”
Instead of explaining, you tilt your phone towards Suzie, letting her read the message herself. A few seconds later, a knowing smirk forms on her face.
“She’s playing it safe,” Suzie concludes.
Your phone pings again, making you jump. Almost fumbling it, you quickly check the new message and read it aloud:
[12:34 PM] Leigh: Hey, quick question. What dog shampoo would you recommend? Logan's perfumed smell doesn't really last long.
“She's playing it way too safe,” Suzie remarks, clicking her tongue in disapproval.
Ignoring Suzie, you quickly type back, suggesting a favorite of yours, and include a link to an online store.
[12:35 PM] You: Try this one <link>. It's hypoallergenic and it should keep Logan smelling fresh longer than the others I've tried.
After sending the message, you look up to find Suzie still wearing a small smile.
“What a bunch of modern idiots,” she murmurs, loud enough for you to hear, before taking a hearty sip from her drink.
You and Leigh continue texting about Logan and his needs. She mentions she'll drop by tomorrow to pick up his supplies. You keep to yourself that you're already planning to gather everything and surprise her by dropping it off at her place—an excuse to see her again.
-
You leave the clinic early, gripping a bouquet of flowers in one hand and Logan’s bag of supplies in the other. Since that lunch with Suzie, you've been introspective and quiet, wrestling with the idea that she might be right about defining your relationship with Leigh. You realize you're already in too deep, weary of assumptions and the uncertainty of not knowing where you stand with her.
Expecting to find Leigh at her mom's fitness studio in the late afternoon, you make your way there.
But she isn't there.
“Oh, hi, Y/N,” Jules greets you from behind the reception desk. She's busy wiping down the counter and sorting through stacks of folders—membership forms that appear to have accumulated over the past few years.
“Is Leigh around?” you ask, scanning the mostly deserted area. Your eyes sweep past the maintenance staff quietly going about their cleaning, but there’s no sign of Leigh.
You miss the brief flicker of discomfort that crosses Jules's face at the mention of her sister. “Leigh's probably at home,” Jules says evenly, going back to her task. “She takes every Tuesday off.”
While you’re still distracted (and a little disappointed), Jules notices the bouquet you’re holding.
“Are those for her?” she asks.
You give the bouquet of red Chrysanthemums a slight wave, then a bit sheepishly, you nod and confirm, “Yeah.”
“That's sweet, Y/N,” Jules comments, her lips curving slightly.
She seems to expect you to leave since Leigh isn't around, but instead, you take a seat on one of the stools at the reception.
“How are you, by the way?” you ask, flashing a warm smile at her. You lean your arms on the counter and start drumming your fingers, genuinely interested in her response.
“You sure you wanna hang around? Leigh hates waiting for anyone,” she says. Though her words are light, there’s a shadow behind them that yanks your attention.
“Is everything okay? I mean, with you and Leigh?” you ask cautiously. Jules doesn’t speak for a moment too long, and you nearly backtrack, thinking maybe a lighter topic might salvage the awkward silence.
But just as you’re about to pivot, she blurts out, “I moved out recently.”
You gawk at her, surprised by the sudden confession. Jules notices your open-mouthed shock and it almost coaxes a laugh from her. She's somewhat entertained by your astonishment but also touched that you cared enough to ask. Inside, she’s glad she secretly cheered for you over Danny.
“I know, right? Bet you didn't see that coming,” she says with a wry smile.
“Moving out is definitely a big step,” you reply, “but uh, you kind of didn’t really answer my question there.”
Jules chuckles and rounds the counter to sit beside you. “No,” she says flatly, her expression sobering as she sits beside you. “And honestly, I'd rather not hash out my issues with Leigh unless it's with my therapist. Talking about it just feels like letting her win somehow.”
She lets out a deep breath, her gaze drifting away momentarily. “And no, I didn't plan on moving out. I just got tired of being treated like crap by my own family.”
Jules starts picking at the edge of the counter before she looks up. She had mentioned not wanting to discuss it, but somehow, she finds it easy to open up to you.
“I mean, obviously, we're not related by blood,” she continues, “and yeah, it's the 21st century—being adopted shouldn't be a big deal, right? But even though it's common, it doesn't make me feel any more part of the family, any less like an outsider. I feel like an eternal letdown, like I'm always just shy of what they hoped I'd be.”
“What exactly are they hoping for?” you ask softly.
Jules shrugs, her eyes darting away as she wraps her arms around herself protectively. “I don't really know. It's more of an outline than a shape.”
You think about her words for a moment before adding your two cents. “Could it be that maybe some of this pressure is self-imposed? Maybe you're the one filling in the blanks with what you think they expect of you? It's okay just to be yourself, you know. You don't have to be everything to everyone, and that’s perfectly fine,” you say.
Jules nods slowly, her gaze fixed on some distant point. Then, quietly, almost a whisper, she adds, “It's tough, especially with my…you know…past drinking problem. Even though I've been clean for months, it feels like I'm always on trial, always having to prove I’m better now. And when I slip up, even just a little…” her voice falters, “I just... I imagine what they must think of me, if they—”
“If they love you any less for it?” you interject gently.
Her eyes snap back to yours, slightly wet and reddened. Instinctively, you reach out for her hand. Jules grasps it in return, and you give her hand a comforting squeeze.
“I don't really know Leigh in terms of family stuff,” you say, shifting uncomfortably on your stool as you choose your words carefully. “And maybe you've got it right, Jules. But then again, maybe not. See, when we really care about someone, we tend to put them on a pedestal, root for them so hard that sometimes, without even realizing it, we might push them a bit too much.”
You let the thought sit for a while, then continue, your own quandaries weaving into your speech. “Maybe it's best if you talk to Leigh about this... I mean, personally, I need to talk to Leigh about something too. I want to stop assuming things and thinking my perspective is the whole reality. We all do it, don’t we? Set traps for ourselves with our own expectations and assumptions.”
Jules sniffles, manages a faint smile, and discreetly wipes away a tear with her pinkie. Then, unexpectedly, she leans forward and hugs you, her head resting snugly against your cheek. You return the embrace, gently rubbing her back in random circles.
When she steps back, there's a new light of recognition in her eyes.
“You remind me of Matt.”
You're not sure if that's a flattering comparison or not. You did connect with Matt, after all, not because you were opposites that attracted, but because you saw parts of yourself reflected in him—similar interests, similar ways of thinking.
You can’t help but ask, “How so?”
“Matt always played mediator between Leigh and me. Oddly enough, we both really listened to him, took his opinions to heart. He had this wisdom, you know?” She stops for a second, her expression clouding over. “Which really threw me when I found out about some of the... stupid choices he made.” She gestures towards you apologetically, adding, “No offense.”
“None taken,” you assure her quickly with a lopsided smile.
“Yeah, Matt was that person in the family who really saw everyone, who tried to knit us all together. I miss him,” Jules says wistfully. She looks past your shoulder, into the distance, as if she's seeing his ghost. You don’t look behind you. You can see his ghost in her eyes clearly.
Jules continues, “And whatever went down with Leigh, I don’t think it was all his fault. Leigh... she can be challenging to love sometimes. Oh god, that sounds awful, doesn’t it? I’m sorry.”
You shake your head, understanding what she means more than she might think. “It's okay, Jules. It's hard, loving people isn't always straightforward or easy. They say love brings out the best in us, but often, it brings out the worst.”
“It’s like I can hear Matt talking, but in a female voice,” Jules jokes, returning to her post. “Anyway, are you and my sister finally going out?”
“That’s what I’m hoping to find out soon,” you say, gesturing to the bouquet you're holding. You feel a bit forward buying flowers for a girl, especially since you don’t even know what Leigh's favorite flowers are—or if she likes them at all.
Jules gives you a mischievous grin and says, “Well, good luck with that. For what it's worth, I don't think Leigh dumped Danny for nothing. She seems to really like you.”
“Thanks, that means a lot,” you say, feeling a bit more buoyed as you rise from your seat.
With a final nod to Jules, you head out, the bouquet of flowers in hand feeling less silly and more like a talisman as you drive straight to Leigh's house.
-
You pull into the driveway of the Shaw residence, your hands gripping the steering wheel a tad too tightly. The bouquet of flowers sits next to you, a daunting shade of red against the gray upholstery, and Logan’s supplies are carefully arranged in the backseat. You mentally rehearse your opening line to Leigh, hoping the surprise might soften the ground for the conversation that needs to follow.
You ring the doorbell and wait, shifting from foot to foot, your hand gripping the stem of the flowers a little too tightly while your other arm cradles the box containing Logan’s things. But when the door swings open, it's not Leigh who greets you.
“D-Danny,” you stammer, the subtle smile on your lips completely falling away.
What is he doing here?
Danny looks equally unenthused to see you. “Hey,” he replies, his eyes briefly dropping to the flowers before meeting yours again. “Looking for Leigh?”
Before you can respond, Leigh appears behind him. Her face emerges as she peers at you over his shoulder, his towering height partially obstructing your view of her. She looks utterly surprised to see you at her doorstep, giving you the impression that she wasn't expecting you and maybe you shouldn't be here at all.
“I… I thought of bringing Logan’s supplies now since I’m free, but… yeah, I should probably go—”
“Danny was just leaving,” Leigh announces abruptly.
You find yourself frozen, rooted to the spot as you turn to face her. Danny looks poised to object, but Leigh fixes him with a look. It's enough. His defiance melts into resignation, his shoulders dropping slightly as he exhales a heavy sigh.
“Fine,” he grumbles, “I'll call you later, Leigh.” He stalks off without waiting for a reply.
You’re still looking at the ground, the front door cracked open, a draft passing in between you and Leigh as you stand on her doorstep.
What was Danny doing here? You can't seem to shake it off.
Leigh reaches out and gently touches your elbow, nudging you inside. “Come in,” she murmurs, leading you past the threshold.
Inside, Leigh takes the box of supplies from your hands. She starts sorting through it, tossing a casual “Thanks” over her shoulder as she examines the contents. Her focus is entirely on Logan’s needs until she looks up and spots the bouquet you’re still hanging onto.
Your cheeks flush as her gaze shifts to the flowers. You had fantasized about a dazzling smile breaking across her features at the sight. Instead, Leigh’s expression tightens with skepticism, her eyes narrowing slightly as she regards the bouquet.
“Flowers?” Leigh inquires uncertainly.
It's not the response you'd imagined, and you suddenly find yourself scrambling for an explanation, the bouquet feeling unexpectedly cumbersome in your grasp.
“I, uh, passed by a flower shop,” you start, fiddling with a petal as you concoct a small white lie. “I bought some for myself and figured, since I was coming over with Logan's supplies, maybe you'd like some too.”
You've both seen each other naked just hours ago, yet somehow that doesn't seem to matter now. This doesn't feel any easier than before you slept together.
“They are pretty,” she says, accepting the flowers. She looks around for a moment. “I'll find a vase for these.”
Relieved she's accepted them, you seize the opportunity to change the topic. You're on the verge of asking why Danny was just here, but to your own surprise, a completely different question slips out.
“Where's Logan today?”
“He's with mom,” Leigh says, returning to the living room holding a plain-looking vase. “She’s really bonded with him. Actually, she's out showing him off to some old friends today.”
That coaxes out a small smile from you, imagining Logan charming everyone he meets.
Now the roles reverse and Leigh takes her turn with the questions. “How about you? Weren't we supposed to meet for Logan’s stuff tomorrow?” A beat passes, and she adds, “I wasn’t expecting you.” Her tone isn’t harsh, but it's clear that Leigh isn't fond of surprises. You mentally file that away for future reference.
“I wanted to see you,” you say, the words tumbling out more bluntly than planned. “You left so quickly this morning after... after last night.”
Then, almost without thinking, you find yourself nodding toward the door Danny had exited through, the question spilling out before you can reel it back. “Why was Danny here?” It sounds more accusatory than you intend, and you hurry to cushion it, not wanting to come off as possessive. “I mean, I thought you two were—”
“Broken up?” Leigh fills in the blank sharply. She sets the vase down slowly, then turns to face you, her expression becoming more earnest by the second.
“Yes, we are,” she confirms, crossing her arms lightly over her chest. “Danny came by to pick up some of his things he had left here. It's not... we’re not back together. But if you’re asking why he’s still in my life, then I have news for you, Y/N: we’re friends. And he’s still Matt’s brother.”
You bite your lip, feeling a surge of defensiveness rise within you. “I'm just wondering, that's all,” you manage to say, trying not to sound too confrontational or possessive. You’re suddenly aware of how precarious your position is—you’re not really entitled to feel jealous or make demands. After all, Leigh hasn't given you any sort of claim over her; you're not officially anything. You came here hoping maybe that would change, but now you worry you might be messing it all up.
“Of course you can be friends with whoever you want,” you add hastily.
“Exactly,” she says, but then she pauses, scrutinizing you with a curious tilt of her head. “But what about you?” she presses, taking slow, deliberate steps towards you, like a predator stalking its prey.
You give her a quizzical look.
“The flowers, showing up without a heads-up... What are you hoping to get out of this?”
As Leigh’s gaze bores into you, probing and skeptical, something inside you snaps. The hurt ricochets through you, searing and unexpected. She was so delicate with you, making you feel all sorts of things while doing wonderful, unspeakable things to your body, and now she’s making you question your own reality.
“I've been falling in love with you, Leigh,” you say, your voice rising without your permission, the words bouncing off the walls with a force that startles even you. “Are you just enormously daft or do you not care at all?”
Silence crashes down like a heavy curtain following your admission.
But Leigh doesn’t flinch from your outburst, nor does she display any signs of distress. She remains eerily still, almost statue-like. Yet, when you look into her eyes, you see it—the unsteadiness there, the only part of her that seems vulnerable to your scrutiny.
Then, she speaks. Just one word, but it's enough to completely deflate you, a response more chilling than if she had simply said she didn't care.
“No.”
“What—” you start, but she cuts you off.
“You don’t love me.”
The certainty with which she says it feels like a door slamming shut, final and resolute, leaving no room for doubts or arguments. Your mouth hangs open, muted by her unequivocal assertion that you don't love her.
You’re gearing up to tell her how wrong she is, to insist that what you feel is real, but she cuts you off with a question that feels like a bucket of ice water.
“When you learned that ‘Nick’ was just Danny all along, that Matt’s brother helped him betray me, what was your first thought?” Leigh's voice is clinical, almost detached.
You feel like you’re missing something, grasping at the air for an answer that will satisfy her. Her gaze traps you, demanding truth, and you realize you can’t escape until you give it to her. What does she want to hear? What is she trying to understand from this?
“My first thought?” you repeat, trying to remember how it made you feel. “I felt sorry for you, Leigh. I couldn’t believe someone so close to you would do that. I felt angry for you, and yeah, I felt really sorry that you had to go through it.”
Leigh's eyes flicker, a subtle shift like a wince. “You pitied me,” she says, her voice cold. “And you also wanted to fuck me. That can be a real killer combo you could mistake for love.”
You stumble back a step, your legs suddenly weak as her words sink in. It's as if she's taken your heart and laid it bare under a harsh light, reducing your feelings to something small and pitiful, far from the love you thought you felt.
Finding the nearest surface to lean on, you press your back against the front door. The temptation to leave, to walk away from this painful confrontation, is strong. But the beautiful, infuriating creature in front of you couldn't be more wrong about you, about love, about how you feel for her. And you’re hell-bent on changing her mind, even if it’s the last thing you do.
“Then why be with me last night?” you challenge, your voice strained. “If you really think that, why even bother?”
Leigh's smile takes on a mocking twist, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. “Just satisfying your curiosity,” she says. “I wanted to lift the veil for you, help you realize it's nothing more than just guilt and sympathy.”
You shake your head. “I don't believe that. Last night wasn't just curiosity or some misguided sense of duty. It was real, Leigh. And I think you know that too.”
Her eyes remain hard, but just beneath, there's a shimmer—perhaps doubt, or something like it.
“You think you know what love is?” she whispers, her voice so faint it's almost lost. “You think it's just about feeling sorry for someone and wanting them?”
“No,” you say firmly. “I think it's about seeing someone for who they are, flaws and all, and wanting to be there for them anyway. I think it's about standing by someone even when it's hard, even when they push you away. And Leigh, I see you. I see all of you, and I still want to be here.
“I love you, Leigh,” you declare, the words tumbling out almost uncontrollably.
“Leigh—”
“Why do you think Matt was found at the bottom of a forty-foot drop?” she nearly screams, her voice fraying at the edges of hysteria. She starts pacing, her movements restless and agitated. “Why do you think he came to you? Why do you think he kept running from me?”
At the mention of her dead husband, everything suddenly makes sense. The walls she’s built, her reluctant heart—it’s not about being mysterious or difficult. It’s about fear, a deep, visceral terror of being the storm that wrecks another life. Leigh isn't just pushing you away out of whimsy or cruelty; she's doing it because she believes it's the only way to prevent history from repeating itself.
“I’m not Matt.”
She stops pacing, her eyes locking onto yours, filled with anger, fear, and something that looks a lot like pain. “No, you’re not Matt. But you don’t get it. He couldn’t handle it. He couldn’t handle me. I drove him away, and I’ll drive you away too.”
“You didn’t drive Matt away. He was running from his own demons, not you. And I’m not afraid of you. I’m here because I want to be. Because I—”
Her face crumples, the mask she’s been wearing cracking. “You don’t know what you’re saying,” she whispers. “You don’t know what it’s like.”
“I know it’s not easy,” you say, closing the distance between you. You feel her radiating every feeling she’s struggling to contain, the ones she’s attempting to shield from you. “But I’m not going anywhere. I’m here for all of it.”
Her eyes well up, tears slipping down her cheeks. But she doesn’t move away. “Why?” she asks, her voice so small and child-like. “Why would you want to stay?”
“Because I love you,” you say simply, “and I’m not afraid of the cost.”
Leigh gives you a look that could freeze fire—like you’ve just spoken the worst of blasphemies.
“Stop looking at me like that,” you murmur, cupping her neck gently.
“Like what?” she asks, her voice trembling.
“Like it’s the worst thing you’ve ever heard.”
She attempts to smooth over her expression, trying to regain some semblance of control, but there’s a fleeting moment where she resembles a chastised child. You can't help but smile gently, touched by her unguarded reaction.
“Leigh,” you whisper, taking her hands in yours. “One date. Go out with me. Let me prove it to you. Let me show you why it can be a good thing.”
She lets out a shaky breath, and for the first time, there’s a glimmer of hope in her eyes. She nods, almost imperceptibly, but it’s enough. Its a start.
“Okay,” she whispers in surrender. “One date.”

don't you worry your pretty little mind
Tumblr media
pairing: Dave York x fem!reader
rating: PG for 1 (one) ass squeeze but otherwise just all the fluff
word count: ⁓ 1.3k give or take
warnings: none, i think?? teeny tiny smidge of angst at the very beginning, Dave being an adorable dad, one singular ass squeeze as mentioned above, reader has no physical description besides being called "wife"
a/n: my contribution to @happypedrohours's Charcuterie Board Challenge!! thank you Mel and Sara for putting all of this together 🥰 my pairing was Dave + feta cheese. the event doesn't technically start until Friday but i have another wip scheduled for that day 👀 and i was just too excited to wait to share this. happy belated father's day to our favorite murder daddy 💛
“Honey, have you seen the feta?”
Dave wanders into the kitchen to see your entire top half buried in the open fridge. He laughs at the sight and you whip around with wide eyes.
“Well?”
“It should be right there on the shelf in front of you.” Dave leans on the counter beside you, chuckling again as you dive back in.
“You’re right, it should be. But it’s not.” You slam the door closed and begin pacing around the kitchen, opening various cabinets in a frantic search.
“Sweetheart, it’s not going to be under the sink with the sponges.” Dave tries to reason with you but you’re set on your task. He finally sighs and gently takes your wrist, halting your movement. “Hey, relax. It’s just a stupid plat-”
“David York, I swear to God if you say ‘stupid platter’ one more time, I will hit you over the head with the cutting board,” you threaten only half-seriously. “This is the one thing your mother requested for this party and it’s ruined.”
Dave fights the urge to roll his eyes as you’re already on edge and he knows it would only piss you off even more. “It is not ruined because there’s one thing missing. Look,” he wraps his arm around you and directs you to the center island where your meticulously designed charcuterie board lays out, “there is plenty of food here already. Grapes, olives, bell peppers, pitas and hummus. Carrots and ranch for the girls.” He turns to you and lifts your chin to meet your eyes. “My mother is not going to miss one thing out of all of this.”
You huff despite your appreciation of his attempt to reassure you. “Yes, she will. Because she hates me.” You cross your arms, deflating as Dave scoffs and backs away, rubbing his forehead.
“We’ve been over this. She does not-”
“Yes, she does, Dave! She literally told me herself that I’m the reason you and Carol split!”
“And we both know that couldn’t be further from the truth!”
“Yes! I know that. You know that. But she is convinced that I’m a homewrecker and she’s on a mission to destroy me by nitpicking every single thing that I do.” You match Dave’s stance, rubbing your own forehead to stave off a headache. “I just…she’s your mother, Dave, and I…”
Dave sighs and closes the distance between you again, rubbing your arms soothingly. “I know, baby, I know. I appreciate you wanting to impress her but in the end, it won’t make any difference.” Your head shoots up, brows furrowed in confusion. “I love you. You’re my wife. And nothing my mother says or does is going to change the way I feel.”
You relax at his clarification. Scrunching your eyes closed, you groan in defeat and lean your head on his chest, wrapping your arms around his waist. You hold each other for a moment, Dave rubbing your back. Finally, Dave lets out a deep relenting breath.
“But if it really means that much to you, I’ll run to the store and get more.”
You squeeze him tight and peck his lips, a cheesy smile breaking across your face. “Thank you.”
When Dave returns 3 hours later, the kitchen is even more a mess than it was before. It looks like the fridge vomited all of its contents across the counters and dining table. Your charcuterie board, however, still sits untouched in the middle of the island. You’re nowhere in sight.
Dave sets the plastic grocery bag containing your cheesy trophy next to the culinary creation and opens his mouth to call your name, but the doorbell cuts him off. He goes to the door, welcoming in his daughters and ex-wife. Carol bears a tray of brownies and follows Dave to the kitchen while Molly and Alice race upstairs.
Carols lets out a low whistle at the tsunami of food items. “Doing some spring cleaning, Dave?” she jokes.
Dave just shakes his head in exasperation as you enter in from the garage. “I thought I heard the door!” You cross over to give Carol a quick, friendly hug and take the dessert tray from her.
“Baby, what…is all this?” Dave turns in a circle, motioning to the room around him.
You crouch down and rifle through a cabinet for a plate to set out the brownies. “I turned the entire fridge inside-out looking for the feta. No luck.” Standing, you see the grocery bag on the island and gasp delightedly. “You got it! What took you so long, anyway?”
Dave groans and drops his head back tiredly. “You would not believe the trials I endured to find that for you.”
You and Carol laugh at his dramatics. She pats his shoulder and ventures over to the stairs in search of the girls. You round the island and place your hands on his chest. “My hero.”
He looks down at you, smiling at the appreciation in your eyes and pulling you into his arms. “You’re lucky I love you.”
“Yeah, I am.” You lean up to kiss him and he happily accepts, cupping your cheek with one hand to deepen it. You pull away slightly to mutter against his lips. “I’ll have to figure out a way to thank you later.”
A rumble emits from deep in Dave’s chest as his other hand slides down to cup your ass, earning a soft squeak from you as he squeezes. “I might have a couple ideas.”
You pull apart from each other as a shout from upstairs warns the impending arrival of Molly and Alice. You unpack the cheese and begin slicing it as the thunder of small feet spills down the stairs and into the kitchen. Dave steps forward and catches Alice in his arms as she runs in, followed closely by her sister, lifting her with an exaggerated groan as she squeals in excitement. “You’re getting too big for me, baby girl.”
You laugh and smile fondly at Dave interacting with his daughters. Carol enters and quietly offers to help you arrange the platter, careful not to interrupt the heartwarming scene in front of you. You start handing her pieces of cheese as Molly walks over and plops her chin on the countertop with a disappointed huff. “Awww, you found it.”
You scrunch your eyebrows and look up at her. “What do you mean, sweetheart?”
“I hid the cheese, but you found it anyway.”
This catches Dave’s attention as he looks over, putting his hands on his hips in a typical dad stance. “Where did you hide it, Mol?”
The young girl crosses to the fridge but opens the door to the freezer instead. She digs to the back of the bottom drawer and emerges with a rock-solid brick of feta cheese. “Right here.”
Carol’s jaw falls open in surprise. You press your lips together, stifling a laugh. Dave stutters out, “W-why…why would you put it there?”
Molly shrugs, unconcerned. “Because it’s gross and I didn’t want it.”
You burst into a fit of giggles at the innocent statement and Alice joins in. Carol simply sighs and drops her head in exasperation before devolving into soft laughter as well. Dave, meanwhile, still stands with his hands on his hips, blinking repeatedly as he tries to comprehend his daughter’s words.
He finally looks over at you incredulously and you try to smother your amusement for his sake, but the look on his face is too priceless and only makes you laugh even harder.
“Happy Father’s Day?”

At Corissa’s insistence, and against your own reticence, you have a taste of nearly every course. The fiery red head gabs animatedly in her work, to her assistants and the servers, and even to you. You feel something very peculiar; you feel included.
That pleasant sensation is as fleeting as the night. The servers bring in the dishes, many untouched, and you clean them attentively, keeping the counters clear of clutter. Corissa mutters about the waste and has the leftovers scraped into containers, promising them to her hardworking staff. She even offers you one but you refuse, you’ve indulged enough. You suspect Mr. Laufeyson would be less than pleased to see you walking out with a to-go box.
You are not requested again to tend to the diners. Voices carry from down the hall and the front door opens and shuts between farewells. Amid the hue, you do not hear Mr. Laufeyson though you try not to listen intently.
Corissa and her staff depart with their work done and you’re left to clean up. It’s near midnight. You’re surprised at how long the gathering lasted and yet, you wouldn’t know what to expect. You’d never attended anything like that. You didn’t even go to your own high school graduation.
There’s a scuff and a shadow darken’s the edge of your vision. You lift your head to find Mr. Laufeyson crossing the threshold, his polished shoes clicking on the tile. You dip your head in acknowledgement and return to stacking the dishes neatly inside the cupboards.
“Do not forget the dining room. My guests proved to be animals,” he scoffs, “though, what use would you be if they didn’t leave you some work?”
You nod again. You close the cupboard door and move to the stemmed crystal. You open the glass cabinet that holds the various liquor vessels. You set each in tidy lines, following the pattern.
You wait for him to leave but he remains. Is he watching you or are you just paranoid? You clasp the door shut and face him, though you’re not intent on him. The dining room. You hope you might finish it quickly. You glance at the clock again.
“Do you recall what I told you at the beginning of the night?” He asks brusquely.
You gulp and part your lips, your words trapped in your chest.
“Speak,” he demands with a flippant flick of his fingers.
“Yes, I do, Mr. Laufeyson–”
“Not a look, not a word,” he retorts.
“Mr. Laufeyson, I didn’t–”
“The blond man. I saw your eyes stray,” he insists, “the worst thing you can ever do is lie to me.”
“I… I apologise, it wasn’t– I didn’t mean to–”
“Ah, enough,” he dismisses your protests, “this isn’t an argument. I am merely reminding you of the rules. I do hate to repeat myself.”
You seal your lips and put your chin down in deference. You made a mistake. You’re wrong, he’s right.
“Now you know. I expect it not to happen again,” he rebukes.
His sole squeaks on the floor as he spins and struts out. You look around, time to move on to the dining room. You tiptoe out and find the hallway empty. You creep down to the dining room and find it similarly abandoned.
You enter and begin your work. You wipe down the table and tidy little bits of food and forgotten napkins. You push in the chairs and remove a broken stem from one of the vases at the centre line of the table.
The clock ticks and heightens your impatience. You have to hurry if you’re going to catch the bus. If you don’t… you don’t know if you can budget a cab.
“There is another thing,” Mr. Laufeyson gives you a start as he appears through the archway, “something forgotten…”
You look at him with confusion stitched into your forehead. He reaches into his jacket and slips out a pinkish slip of paper. It’s folded into quarters with a curl in one corner. You recognise it immediately.
“I assume you didn’t mean to leave it on the floor,” he sneers as he comes closer, holding it between his index and middle fingers, “I almost tossed it but I did peruse it in case… Well, I don’t mean to pry…”
You take it and nearly thank him aloud. You look at the folded invoice and a cringe pinches your cheeks. You didn’t even realise you’d dropped it. You would prefer to forget about it but that would hardly void the debt.
“You look well,” he muses. You flinch; what does he mean? “I did note it was for the same date you were absent however.”
You tuck the invoice into your pocket and fix another chair. He lurks close as you try not to falter. He puts his hand on the next chair to stop you.
“You may speak. Humour my intrigue. You don’t appear very sick.”
You close your eyes and take a deep breath. It feels as if he’s making some joke you don’t understand. Your lips strain and you stare at his tie.
“My father had an emergency, Mr. Laufeyson. That is all. He is better now.”
“Ah, a loyal daughter,” he remarks, “it is almost endearing.”
You stand in a stalemate. Your eyes drift over to the clock and back to his slender tie. You’re almost done and you’ll have just enough time to get to the stop.
“I suppose you are eager,” he steps in between you and the clock, “to get home to your sick father.”
You clutch the cloth tight and scrunch your lips. Your stomach does somersaults. You want to beg him to let you finish so you can go home. So you’re not stranded but you already made yourself pathetic enough.
“I am not a man without empathy, I would not keep you long. However, I do wish to have a proper conversation,” he declares.
You nod and wring the cloth. You dare to peek at his face and find his attention on your hands. You still them and drop your eyes again. Is he going to fire you? Rather, tell the agency of your misdeeds?
“I would assume you rely on transit. I am in a rather bright mood after my little soiree so I feel of a mind to offer a favour. One which would allow us to converse,” he rolls the button of his jacket between his thumb and index, “I would drive you home and you would listen, yes?”
You nod and he shows his palm.
“Say it.”
“Yes, Mr. Laufeyson. That is very kind.”
“Isn’t it?” He preens and swirls away again, “ten minutes should be sufficient for you to wrap up. I will be at the door.”
“Yes. Mr. Laufeyson.”
“Wonderful,” he strolls out, his unusual glee putting you on guard.
🧹
As promised, Mr. Laufeyson is waiting at the front door. You only realise after checking the back door. You don’t feel good about accepting an unearned favour but the last bus is well and gone.
He opens the door as he sees you enter the foyer. To your surprise, he holds it for you to pass through first. You suppose it's a habit. He is fond of etiquette.
He follows and directs you to a sleek black car in the drive. You wait patiently at the passenger door as he unlocks it and lowers himself into the driver’s seat. It’s only then that you get in, gently closing the door. You put your kit between your feet and click your seat belt into place.
He turns the ignition and the engine hums quietly. It runs so smoothly, you barely feel it. He backs up before steering around the arch of driveway and towards the gate. He reaches to hit a button on the small fob dangling by the rear view and the wider gates split for him to pass through.
You wait for him to begin. He must be basking in your anticipation. Less than eager for what comes next, it's more a needling anxiety.
“So, let us get down to it,” he begins, one hand on the wheel. The roads are near desolate in the late hour. “I’ve a proposition for you.”
You wait and listen. You assume that’s the deal still. He chuckles and carries on.
“An arrangement convenient for both of us. You see,” he pauses, exhaling as he measures his words, “I am not fond of the agency. I’ve not been for some time, neither have I had the time to search for an alternative.
“Details are irrelevant. My ex-wife enlisted them for a maid. Just as she employed the gardener and the cook. She might be gone but her handiwork remains, though a very big void as well,” he turns down the next street as you twiddle your fingers, “that is too say, she managed the house and without her, I find myself lacking. I’ve not even the chance to acquire a house manager, but now…”
He lets his suggestion dangle but you’re not quite sure you understand. You hate to presume. Hate to think more of yourself than you should.
“What I’m proposing is that you step into her shoes. In the manner of taking on that management. The gardener, the cook, general maintenance and the like,” he explains, “but of course, you would also keep to your existing tasks, keep the house orderly in all ways.”
You still your hands and stare at your lap. You don’t really believe it. He thinks you capable of all that? Based on what? Some mopping?
“You are rather adept at following orders,” he says, “and you are in need of money, yes?”
You hunch down in shame.
“I will pay more than the agency for I would not take a cut as they do. You will be compensated appropriately for your efforts,” he assures, “as they would lessen mine.”
You look over the dash and at the road ahead. Your father will be home soon, he might need more help, and yet, you most certainly need money. You still have over a month left on probation and even after, you’re not guaranteed full-time hours.
“There would be a starting bonus,” he intones, filling the silence, “fifteen hundred. As an incentive.”
Your eyes burn. That’s what the invoice reads in red. He’s taunting you now. He knows that you need it badly.
“This offer stands until you leave this car,” he says firmly, “so you may think about it.”
You blanch and keep your eyes forward. You can think all you want but that won’t change anything. There is no other answer. Even if it makes you nervous, even if you find that house stifling, and him terrifying. None of it matters. You need that money as much as your father needs you.
“I accept, Mr. Laufeyson,” you murmur. “I will do my best.”
He hums, a triumphant note, “I expect nothing less.”
🧹
You’re greeted by an empty house. It was too late to even think of going to the hospital. You wouldn’t want to wake your father during his recovery, and besides, his dejection sticks in your head. He told you not to come back.
You go to bed but don’t sleep very much. It’s hard in the lonely house. You want to tell your father that you got a new job. That you’re going to be able to pay for his hospital bills and that you’ll make things better. You will, when he gets home.
What has you just as wakeless is Mr. Laufeyson. He said you could start tomorrow. You’re nervous about that. Your only experience is the last month and a half of cleaning. He might expect more than you can do. Worse, you might not be able to meet those expectations.
You toss and turn, sleeping a few hours just before your alarm. You have your tea and get dressed. You bring your kit, just in case, and head out to catch the bus. You don’t like being in the house alone so you’re all too happy to get out.
You walk the block and a half from the bus stop. You realise as you come to the iron gate that you don’t have the new code. You stand cluelessly, locked out and listless. You notice the small button by the metal speakerbox. Does it work?
You tap the bell and wait. Nothing. You even lean in to listen to the speaker. It’s entirely dead. You try again. Still, nothing.
You lean in and peer through the bars, like a prisoner. The front door opens and Mr. Laufeyson appears, a harried pace with a hint of agitation. He comes to the other side and looks out at you. His eyes scan you from head to toe. He opens the gate from within.
“In, in,” he demands curtly, “are you not supposed to make my life easier?”
You step in and he swings the door shut harshly. He huffs and swiftly outpaces you back towards the door. You hesitate. You never go in that way.
“Do not waste my time,” he orders without looking back.
You jog to catch up with him. You hop up the steps behind his lithe gait and trail him inside. He stops and points to the mat. You leave your shoes on it even as he keeps his own on.
“I’ve a list made up. That is sufficient, yes?”
You nod and he sighs. He’s already moving as you slipping in an effort to keep up.
“Speak,” he drawls.
“Yes, Mr. Laufeyson.”
“Very good,” he praises, a lilt of condescension dripping from his lips. “I trust you sent your resignation in. I would be happy to cut ties from that cursed agency at the soonest opportunity.”
You bite your lip. You didn’t even think of that. Your silence is telling.
“Add it to the list,” he says derisively.

Newcomer (Joel Miller x Reader)
Part Two of Whiskey Tears.
Rated: Angst | Violence | Fluff | Suggestive | Age Gap | Mentions of Assault | Language
Summary: You, Joel, and Ellie have been a trio from the start. You were a family, but you find your relationship with Joel withering when he starts to pull away. Now a new comer makes her way into Jackson and into Joel’s heart…
You were the first one up. It has always been that way with your quiet steps and peaceful mornings filled with silence.
Your favorite part of your new home was your kitchen free from broken cabinets and rusted faucets. Curtesy to Joel of course. It wasn’t terribly warn down when we first moved in, some dusty bedding, peeled wallpaper throughout the house, but the kitchen had it worse. You mentioned it once to Joel, wondering how the two of you could bring this kitchen to life. A place where you felt most at peace. You were contempt with what you had of course, working around it as you cooked for your family.
Until one day you walked into your house to find Joel replacing them with ones the he had carved and pieced together himself.
You remember crying and him telling you not to. But how could you not? When the man you hopelessly love does something like that for you?
Joel only knew how to bqq something and Ellie was too impatient to follow directions and so since the beginning you were the designated cook and you were proud of it too.
So to find someone in your kitchen banging your precious cabinets and disrupting the system you had made… Well your ears were practically turn red and you swore if anyone would look close enough there would be steam coming out.
But you were an adult person and an adult handles everything with a sense of calm… Right?
“I’m sorry but what are you doing?” You asked as you stood in front of the island counter to keep yourself from pouncing on her.
Heather turned around with a startled jump, “Oh! Good morning! Don’t mind me, I’m just making breakfast.”
“Breakfast is my thing. Cooking for my family is my thing.” You stated clearly with a sense of calm.
I think Joel would be impressed that I haven’t stabbed this lady yet. I’m being an adult. That’s what he wanted right?
“Well I think I can handle the cooking today. It’s the least I can do.” She stated with an edge to her tone.
Stay calm. Be an adult.
You took in a sharp breath and smile, “Being as you are a guest in my home, the least you can do is take a seat and let me cook in my kitchen.”
You watched the way she dug her nails into her skin before giving you a sharp nod, “Alright. Then cook.”
“Gladly.” You muttered before making yourself at home and cooking Joel and Ellie’s favorites.
Pancakes for Ellie and scrambled eggs with deer bacon for Joel. You didn’t have pigs for regular bacon and so this was the next best thing in the apocalypse, that and Joel’s famous deer jerky.
You easily fell into your routine, humming a tune that you created for Ellie one night when she was scared. You didn’t care how Heather sat at the island and watched you like a hawk. You did what you did best. You provided for your family.
While the last bits of deer bacon was frying, you started on making the coffee before set the table with the plates and food already prepared. You also made sure to add an extra plate even if you didn’t want to.
But you were going to prove to Joel that you were an adult.
The last item left in the kitchen was the deer bacon and as you piled it on a plate you heard Joel’s drawl muttering a good morning and Ellie’s loud yawn in the dining room.
You smiled and filled a mug of coffee for Joel, holding it in one hand while you held the plate of deer bacon in the other.
“You made this?” Joel asked looking at Heather.
“I did! I wasn’t sure what you usually eat for breakfast so I asked your other daughter and she told me pancakes, eggs, and deer bacon is the perfect morning breakfast for everyone.” Heather explained as if it actually happened, she would be convincing to anyone else… Anyone who wasn’t Ellie that is.
Ellie’s brows furrowed as she stared at the table. It was plated exactly how you would plate it for them each morning. It didn’t look new and Ellie knew that…
“She did?” Ellie finally asked skeptically.
“Yep!” Heather smiled without a hint of guilt.
The way that Heather said such a lie with ease made your blood boil as you stepped into the dining room with a glare directed towards the officially unwelcome newcomer.
“Oh! Thank you for being a dear and getting those for me, I couldn’t carry everything here on my own.” A sweet smile was planted on Heather’s face, on that made you scowl.
Who says I have to be calm to be an adult?
You took three steps to the table, standing directly between where she was sitting in your seat once again. You tossed the plate of deer bacon down in front of Joel with a thud before slamming your hand down resonating a loud smack against the wood, coffee mug held tightly in the other hand.
“What the hell.” Joel exasperated at watching you loose your temper.
You didn’t care about Joel’s opinion of you. Not right now and not with this conniving witch in front of you. Your fury was centered around the horrid lies spilling out of the temptress mouth.
“First of all, I am Not his daughter.” I seethed lowly, “Second. You better tell them the truth before I cram these pieces of deer bacon that I cooked not you, down your throat you lying piece of—”
“Enough!” Joel’s voice boomed causing you to steady your hand to keep from spilling his coffee.
Your heater gaze quickly flickered to Joel who seemed angry, but not at the person you thought he would be angry with… No. his anger was directed towards you.
“Who gives a fuck who made breakfast. Will you stop causing a scene so early in the morning and just sit down?” Joel sighed.
His sigh was clearly directed towards you and you were angry that he couldn’t see whatever game Heather was trying to play.
“Are you serious? She is clearly lying to you. How are you not more pissed off about this?” You yelled.
“I don’t know what I did wrong, but I’m sorry if I caused any trouble. If it will make you feel better, I won’t make breakfast again from now on.” Heather’s voice sounded so fragile that you wanted to smother her with a pillow.
“Oh piss off!” You turned towards her, ready to give her a piece of your mind.
“Excuse me? I much older than you—” She began and you cut her off.
“Clearly.” You scoffed.
“Dear I’m just trying to help. Maybe your too young to understand that respecting your elders is important so please— Ouch!” She yelled out in pain.
It all happened so fast. One minute she was talking and the next second you felt a sharp pain in your ankle causing you to spill Joel’s coffee on her arm.
Ellie’s eyes widened, “Shit.”
“Are you kidding me right now!” Joel’s voice boomed as got up from his chair.
“I—” You didn’t know what to say and apparently Joel didn’t want to hear it because he roughly shoved you out of the way to check on Heather.
His shoved made you spill the rest of the coffee over your hands causing you to hiss out in pain.
“Are you okay?” Ellie quickly jumped out of her seat to check on me.
“Yes… Yes. I’m fine. I— I don’t know what happened.” You said quickly as Ellie took the cup from you, “I didn’t do it on purpose.”
“I’m going to go get some ice.” She said as she quickly rushed off into the kitchen.
“Ow! Ow ow ow. It hurts Joel.” Heather had tears in her eyes and he cleaned off her arm with a towel.
“I’m sorry… I really didn’t.” You weren’t even sure why you were apologizing, but you felt that Joel would be even more pissed at you if your didn’t.
“You— I can’t believe you— you reckless over excessive little girl.” Joel seethed at you, “Did you know she was constantly burned by the raiders that held her hostage? No. Of course you fucking didn’t.”
Ellie stepped in at the moment with ice wrapped in a towel. Joel took it out of her hands and motioned to the door.
“Tommy’s waiting for you by the barn to talk you about your new job Ellie.” Joel grunted yet his glare never left your face, “You should go.”
Ellie looked over to you in concern, “But—”
You shook your head, “It’s okay, go. I’m fine. I promise.”
Ellie left soon after and an unnerving silence between you and Joel filled the air. Your hands welre turning red because the ice that you needed was currently being used for Heather’s arm. You felt too ashamed to get another one and too scared to wonder if she had actually kicked you.
You watched Joel, an aching feeling settling in your chest at the way he was attentive to her. The way he held her gently and asked her if her arm was still hurting while you stood behind him cradling your own wounded hands. That made tears draw to your eyes.
“Joel—” You tried to call out to him, but he didn’t want to hear any of it.
“You can’t just throw a fucking tantrum whenever you want… God… I didn’t think you were this much of a brat.” He shook his head.
That left a sharp feeling in your chest as your eyes casted down to the floor in shame.
“Leave.” Joel muttered and when you didn’t move he raised his voice, “Fucking get out of my sight right now!”
That had you running up the stairs and slamming the door to his room. Sobs wracked through your body as you slid to the floor, your blistering hands long forgot as tried to calm yourself down.
“He thinks I did all of this on purpose? How could he believe her over me? …Why won’t he believe me?” You whispered into the silence.
That sinking feeling however didn’t leave your chest. The deep hatred that you felt towards a woman you’ve barely known for two days was beginning to boil and you just knew she was up to something.
You angrily wiped away your tears and changed into some warmer clothes. You didn’t care about the puffiness under your eyes or your red nose, you could blame that on the weather. After you finished getting ready you went downstairs to leave the house and start your day at work.
It was your turn to help string up some lights anyways so that made it easier to get out of the house. You could only hope that things would change before the upcoming holiday, Winter’s Hollow. A day that everyone could celebrate.
“Where you going?” Joel’s asked from behind you.
You ignored him as you slipped in your boots.
“Your hands are red…” He continued and you turned away from him so he couldn’t see them anymore.
He let out a deep sigh, “Firefly please.”
“Don’t call me that.” You finally grumbled, “Not right now.”
“You’re hurt.” He pressed.
You looked up at him with a glare as you slipped on some gloves, “Like you care. You’re the one who did it.”
“I…” He looked directly at you, “Didn’t realize I hurt you.”
His expression was one of worry and guilt. Two emotions that were very rarely shown on Joel’s face in front of anyone except for you, Ellie, or Tommy. You almost crumbled… Almost.
“Joel!” Heather called from the dining room and his head immediately turned towards her direction.
You rolled your eyes and grabbed your jacket remembering why you were leaving in the first place.
“Have fun with your new girl.” You swung the door open and left.
***
“Morning.” Maria waved you over to her.
She stood by a box of lights and a lamp post.
“I was wondering when you’d show up.” She teased and usually she would get a snarky reply and a smile from you, but when you remained quiet she began to worry.
“Hey… Are you okay?” She asked and placed a hand on your arm and when you fully looked at her she knew, “You’re definitely not okay. What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” You tried to say, but she gave you an unimpressed look.
She raised an eyebrow as she looked at you, “Something is. Your nose is red and you’ve clearly been crying.”
“It’s just the cold, I’m fine.” You tried to explain, but she wasn’t having any of it.
Maria rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest, “Like hell you are.”
You sighed, “Joel and I got into an argument.”
“Over what?” Maria asked.
She was concerned of course. In the three months that you and Joel have lived here she has never heard you and Joel argue.
“Heather.” You said her name as if it were poison.
“Oh…” She nodded her head slowly, now beginning to understand the story, “It’s going that bad huh?”
“He’s been taking her side over everything these past two days and he lets her kiss his cheek and I don’t… Fuck I hate it. And she lied this morning about cooking breakfast and I swear she kicked me or something. I didn’t mean to spill coffee on her and Joel got… He got so angry.” Tears welled up in your eyes, “I didn’t mean to make him angry.” You cried.
Maria pulled you into a hug and you clung to her like a lifeline. She was slowly starting to grow on you as these past couple of months passed by.
“I’m sorry, that must be so stressful.” Maria tried her best to calm you down.
“I was so worried about him when he disappeared. I couldn’t even sleep without checking the driveway every hour to see if he was walking up those damn steps and now it hasn’t even been a week and it’s like he replaced me.” You sobbed.
“I didn’t realize they were that close…” Maria’s voice trailed off. She didn’t want to loose you, you were the closest thing to a sister-in-law she’s ever had, “I’ll talk to Tommy. See if there’s a house available that she can live in. Maybe it’s just a savior complex thing and he feels like because he saved her, now he’s indebted to her or something.”
You sniffled into her shoulder, “Thanks.” Your voice was muffled in her jacket, “I don’t want to be that person, but I think she’s a real bitch.”
Maria chuckled, “Seems like Joel is too.”
You pulled away from her hug, “He said it was because of our age… That it wasn’t right to be together.”
“Well that’s bullshit otherwise he wouldn’t have been with you in the first place.” Maria scoffed.
“Do you think there’s more to what he’s telling me?” You wondered and honestly you wouldn’t put it against Joel if he was.
“It’s Joel we’re talking about, of course there is.” Maria shook her head and you watched as she reached down to grab some of the lights, “The Miller brothers are as hard to get close too. I swear there one of those endless jawbreakers.”
“Jawbreakers?” You asked her in confusion.
“It’s like a candy that you have to continuously lick until you reach the center. I’ll find one for you one day.” She said and you couldn’t help, but snicker.
“That’s quite an analogy.” Your snicker grew into a laugh and Maria joined you.
She nudged your arm, “Oh shut up and help this pregnant woman with these lights.”
“Yes ma’am.” You laughed as you reached into the box.
Maria made it easy for you to take your mind off Joel. It was as if she had a secret spell to make you forget your worries. I guess that’s what all good friends do.
“Phew!” Maria wiped her hands in her jeans as you finished hanging up a few more lights, “I think it’s about time for dinner, don’t you think?”
You nodded your head as you stepped down from the ladder, “I’m pretty sure I can eat an entire pot of stew right now.” You said causing Maria to laugh.
“Well as long as you share then I’m cool with that. Lets go.” She said and the two of you made your way to the lodge to grab some lunch.
“You know what I’m really craving?” Maria said as the two of you stepped into the small restaurant bar, “Pickles and ice cream.”
You raised an eyebrow at her in question, “Pickles and ice cream? That sounds…”
“Absolutely amazing I know.” She was practically drooling at the craving, “One day we’ll have ice cream and you’ll understand what I’m talking about.”
“Over here!” You suddenly heard Ellie yell and the two of you turned to find her, Tommy, and Joel already sitting down at a booth.
You were relieved to not see Heather with them. You don’t think you’re ready to see her coming up to Joel right now. The two of you quickly made your way over.
Before you can even say hello Maria smacked Joel on the back of his head.
“Ow…” He grumbled as he rubbed his head, “What was that for?”
“You know what.” She said before taking her designated seat beside her husband.
Tommy gave his wife a confused look to which she said, “I’ll tell you later.”
You then took your designated seat beside Joel, a small smile on your face from Maria’s protective side.
Maria sat by Tommy on one side of the booth with you by Joel with Ellie on his right, closest to the window on the other side of the booth.
“Well it took you girls long enough to get here.” Tommy joked as he wrapped an arm around Maria to warm her up, “We were waiting to surprise you both with dinner.”
“Hey the lights can’t hang themselves.” Maria replied, but fell into his embrace, “But thank you for waiting for us.”
You watched the two with longing wishing that Joel would treat you that way, but all you received was his arm pressing into yours.
“Tell them about the horses Ellie. I swear this girl is going to be a cowgirl one day.” Tommy chuckled.
“You would not believe the day I have had!” Ellie practically shouted as she launched into her story.
You listened, laughing at most parts as her story slowly became over exaggerated, but you loved every second of it.
It was halfway through her story about how she threw herself over a fence when you felt the warmth of his hand slide over yours. Your breath quickened at his touch and the way you were suddenly hyper aware of his breath hot on your ear.
“How is your hand?” He asked barely above a whisper as to not draw attention to the both of you.
“I think I’m safe from amputation.” You jokingly said to slow the way your heart was racing.
He ran his thumb along the back of your hand muttering a, “Hm..”
The moment was nice, something that you have missed deeply from him these past few months.
“Joel…” You spoke his name softly and when his attention was solely on you, you spoke up, “I—”
“Sorry I’m late!” A shrill voice made your entire body cringe.
You didn’t turn to greet her as Maria and Tommy spoke light hello’s and Joel said no worries.
“I didn’t know you were invited.” Ellie stated with that attitude of hers and it made you snort in amusement.
“Joel invited me. To celebrate my first day at work here.” Heather explained with a smile that you knew was directed towards Joel.
“Um… Where can I sit?” She asked and her gaze fell on Joel’s again as if he would immediately get up.
As if you would let him.
You squeezed his hand just as he was about to respond. Maria saw the desperation in your eyes and she quickly spoke up instead.
“You can sit on our side.” Maria said as she nudged Tommy to scoot down the booth before she follow suit.
Heather looked less than pleased at not being able to sit by Joel, but accepted the off nonetheless with a warm smile.
Ellie carried on with her interrupted story with Maria listening intently. Your hand relaxed its grip on Joel’s while his grip in turn tightened around your hand. You knew he felt awful about this morning and he was trying to apologize in his own Joel way.
You leaned into him as your gaze read the menu that sat in front of him. It was a paper with big hand writing that contained half of what a normal menu would with only two meal options for tonight. Rabbit stew or potatoes, beans, and vegetables.
You glanced up at Joel, “What did you order?”
“The potatoes.” He answered.
You could feel Heather’s heated stare on you, but at this moment you didn’t care. You were going to fight for Joel and show her that he’s yours.
A grin pulled at your lips, “Of course you got the potatoes.” You leaned back from the menu and made yourself comfortable into his side, “I’ll get the stew then and we can share.”
His brow furrowed, “Who says I’m sharing my potatoes?”
You scoffed in mock defense, “You always share your food with me. I am irresistible.” You joked.
Joel shook his head as he chuckled deeply in amusement.
“How have you been settling in?” Tommy asked, pulling Heather away from the conversation that only you and Joel were having.
“Quite well actually, this place is lovely. I can see that you all take very good care of it.” She answered.
It was then that Lily walked to the table with three more glasses of water for Maria, Heather, and I. She then pulled a small pad of paper and a pencil out of her pocket.
She pushed her short blonde hair out of her face as she smiled, “What can I get started for you tonight?”
It was potatoes for Joel and Tommy and stew for you, Ellie, Maria, and Heather.
“Coming right up.” Lily smiled before walking away.
“You never guess what happened.” Maria quickly leaned into the table to spill some gossip, gossip that you knew very well and were more than happy to indulge in.
“What?” Ellie asked already intrigued.
“Well.” You started with a low tone to keep anyone outside from snooping in on your conversation.
“Here we go.” Tommy joked with an exagerated sigh.
“Might as well get comfortable.” Joel said to his brother, the two of them holding back their grins.
Tommy and Joel settled back into their seats, letting the girls gossiped while being interested in the gossip as well… Silently of course.
“I heard from Lorraine at the town meeting last week that…” Maria started to which you finished.
“Apparently Lily has been hooking up with the preachers daughter.” You stated matter of fact, remembering the night Maria knocked on your door right after she was told to keep it a secret.
“No!” Ellie gasped, “But isn’t that like blasphemy or something? Hooking up with a preachers kid?” She asked.
You thought for a moment before shrugging, “I don’t see how it could be.” You turned to Joel, “Is it blasphemy?”
“How should I know?” He grumbled back.
“Well…” You motioned your hand towards him, “I figured if anyone would know it would be you.”
He huffed and pinched your side causing you to squeal, “Funny.” He muttered.
“I’ve been around long enough to know that marrying someone who is related to a pastor isn’t blasphemous. I think the only thing that would be a large age gap between two especially when one is so young with their life ahead of them.” Heather mused as she took a sip of her water.
You felt Joel’s hand tense against yours before it slipped away, moving to rest behind on you the booth. This left an aching feeling in your chest that you couldn’t quite shake off especially at how specific Heather’s words were as if she were directly speaking about you and Joel.
You looked directly at Heather, “I think when they are both consenting adults then age shouldn’t matter. Love should.” You stated.
“And that is why you are still too young to understand dear.” She smiled as if she almost felt bad for you.
The booth was quiet for a moment before Maria spoke up to ease the tension.
“All I know is that they may or may not be secretly eloping.” Maria cheered.
“That seems wonderful.” Heather agreed quickly, “I don’t know them very well personally, but I wish them all the best.”
“Aww, I’m really happy for them.” You leaned back in the booth, trying to stay in the conversation and not have your mood ruined, “I can’t wait till my Ellie gets married.” You sighed happily at the thought, “It’ll be such a cute wedding and I hope my daughter-in-law will be as nice as Lily.”
“Excuse me?” Joel raised an eyebrow as he looked down at you, “She is not getting married. Ever.”
“Hey who says that I can’t?” Ellie leaned over to look at the both of you, “Not that to want to or anything, but still.”
“I say you can’t and it don’t matter if ya want to or not. It’s not happening.” Joel said gruffly.
Joel’s dad mode made everyone laugh while the food was being served. The booth once again fell into a calm atmosphere and you felt your body release some tension the moment you got warm food in your belly.
You were eating your soup peaceful. At times you would place rabbit meat on Joel’s plate while stealing a potato as payment. He didn’t seem to mind and the small chatter and clinking silverware against dishes was heard throughout our small group.
This was how it used to be and a sense of calm washed over you…
Until Heather tried to do the unthinkable.
“Can I try yours Joel?” She asked and began to reach over when Joel nodded, but you were not going to allow that.
Only I can eat off of Joel’s plate and of course Ellie too, but not Heather. Especially after what happened this morning. You thought. I haven’t forgiven her and why should I? She hasn’t even tried to apologize to me after lying to everyone.
You blocked her spoon with yours just as she reach Joel’s plate. Sharing food was your thing with Joel and no one else’s.
“No.” You said without a second thought.
“And why can’t I? It’s just food dear.” Heather had a condescending tone to her voice, another thing that you didn’t like.
You glared at her, “You have your own food.”
“And so do you.” She rolled her eyes.
You were about to say something when Joel squeezed your thigh as a warning.
He gave you a stern look, “It’s fine.” He said as he pushed his plate towards Heather.
You could only look up at him in confusion. He never shares his food with anyone. It was only ever you and Ellie.
“It’s just food.” He said as if it was the most simplistic thing in the world as he took his hand from your thigh.
It’s just food. You scoffed softly at his answer as you glared at Heather.
And maybe it was. Maybe you were over exaggerating, but being together on the road for months with barely any food, it was more than just food to you. It was the silent care that was shown between your little family as you shared the small amounts of food you had.
“Wow! This is delicious! I think I like yours better Joel.” Heather complimented.
“You can have more if you’d like.” He responded with a casual smile, one that had Heather glancing at you with a little smirk.
That made you grind your teeth in humiliation and anger.
It’s your food now and then you later. Why can’t you see that Joel?
You glanced down at your soup with a defeated look.
Do you even want to see it?
