thoughts on evermore vs folklore? :-0
HIHIHIIIIIII ITS BEEN SO LONGGGG
okay so they’re pretty similar bc she wrote them continuously but I do NOT think they are the same
I feel like folklore is more young and innocent (yes there are exceptions like epiphany mad woman this is me trying ect) with like seven and the love triangle triangle that talk about problems in adolescence and being lowkey naive to bigger problems in the world and there’s invisible string that is kinda like “oh yeah that’s neat” and the 1 that’s like “oh yeah that was sucked but I’m chill now” you know? like there’s deep depressing songs but there’s also deep uplifting naive esque songs
and then there’s evermore which in my opinion is simultaneously more depressing and more uplifting bc like seven for example is a happy song because the narrator doesn’t know what’s happening and is naive to it but songs like happiness are like this was bad and I know full well it was bad but I also know it’s going to be okay and that’s like a running theme throughout the album and that’s the main difference between them like we got folklore that’s like “it’s okay because I don’t know that it’s not” and evermore is like “it’s okay because I know that it wasn’t before but that it will be” and again there are some exceptions from both but like those are so lyrically and musically beautiful that it lowkey doesn’t matter yknow?
as for which I like better, I think they’re both shamazing and I can’t pick <3
#thanks for the ask!!!!#ignore me ranting#literally half of this is incorrect but it’s my opinion so shut up#Taylor swift#folklore#evermore#moots

Everybody moved on (Travis) but I'm still at the restaurant (I miss Joe) (I miss when news about Taylor were actually about Taylor and not her relationship) (I miss not seeing a man every time I search Taylor) (You know I love a London Boy I enjoy nights in Brixton, shoreditch in the afternoon) (I love her but she went from Cornelia Street to moving on faster than my ex, I feel you Joe)
#no because how do you go from blonde prince who doesn't use his relationship for fame and writes songs with you#to football player who probably has to look up half of the lyrics in folklore and evermore#taylor swift#joe alwyn#travis kelce#thoughts#text post#relationship#lover album#lover#folklore#evermore#right where you left me#cornelia street

Finally listened to the anthology songs and they’re so fucking good omg. I don’t know if I can rank them, I just love all of them
#top 3 atm are probably cassandra; the albatross & the bolter#but chloe or sam or sophia or marcus; thank you aimee & the prophecy are also so so good#i mean all of them are. there literally ISN’T a bad song on the second half of the album#on some of them i like the production better than the lyrics or vice versa but still#taylor really said ‘oh you want woodvale? here it is’#i’m joking but honestly.. anthology is exactly what i thought ttpd was going to be#tbh it really is a double album. it’s two separate albums#everything from fortnight to clara bow is very midnights-esque#everything from the black dog to the manuscript is giving folklore/evermore but with a more pop sound#she could fully have released them as two separate items titled the tortured poets department and anthology#and i would not have batted an eye. i don’t think anyone would have#anyway i want the anthology on cd#personal#taylor swift

#ngl but after listening to half of tortured poets#there is nothing great about it#but it also isn’t objectively bad#it’s just there#like jeremy renner in any movie he’s ever been in#like. this is what we as music consumers get for allowing everything she touches to turn to gold#because it has dramatically affected her work#we have seen such a steep decline in her craft since folklore and evermore peaked#like there’s nothing interesting here!! the lyricism isn’t doing anything!! the production is bland!! (k*ll jack antonoff)#her vocals never reach their full potential and stay in a mid range for almost the entirety of the record!!#and nothing makes me come back for more it’s like a 17 song long podcast without any fun hooks or even half-way poetic verses#every song that is half way decent i recognize that aaron dressner was a writer on it#that should tell you something rip#idk it’s just!! there lmao#maybe i’ll think differently when i listen to it more but for now it’s not doing much for me dawg

My issue with ttpd is that my thoughts change on it very often and I feel like I shouldn’t give my opinion on it because I’ve barely listened to the second half of it (aside from obvious standouts like the bolter and imgonnagetyouback). The second half just isn’t my listening style at the moment. I would maybe like it better if it was mixed in between songs from the first half so it feels less like a sad block of emotion to me (because I don’t need that energy in my life).
#idk I felt weird about evermore when it came out bc I was very much obsessed with folklore still but I got over that within a few months#I’m getting to a point now where I don’t know if I’m ever actually going to enjoy the either on its own or as part of the first half#autumn rambles#anyway i seriously need to sleep

My choices vs Spotify data…yet another example of me being CERTAIN evermore is my favourite only for the receipts to show I listen to folklore more 😤🥺
#evermore you will ALWAYS be my beloved I’m sorry they keep lying to me#when I ranked the songs across both albums and more of folklore ended up in the top half than evermore too 👀#idk WHAT she put into these two albums but it is impossible to separate/choose a favourite

masterlist | listen
₊‧°𐐪♡𐑂°‧₊
the colder weather meant the sun was starting to set earlier, and it was evident as you gazed out the window, sitting at the dining room table. the candle you had lit an hour or so ago flickering softly, illuminating the room with a soft glow as the gloomy sky hovered above.
you sighed to yourself, taking another sip from the wine glass that sat next to your plate. you tapped on your phone screen, lighting up and displaying the time and the picture you had set as your lock screen. the 5:30 hovering tauntingly above the picture of you and lando from a few months back, your smile wide and trying to hide it in his shoulder as he held his camera to the mirror. he was sporting a smile also, you could almost hear your shared giggles through the photo.
he was supposed to be home an hour ago, and nights like this were happening more often. he’d always be an hour to an hour and a half late getting home. it was always an apology, saying ‘training ran late’ or the quadrant shoot ‘ran on longer than it was supposed to’, you’d see him for fifteen minutes while the two of you ate dinner, and then he’d go off to the office until he decides to join you in bed later in the night.
at first, you didn’t complain, knowing he was a man with a busy schedule, but after almost two months of this same song and dance, your anxiety was getting the best of you.
what if he was out with someone else? what if he was slowly losing interest in you? what if he just tolerates you?
the sound of the door closing pulled you from your thoughts, snapping your head up as you heard footsteps enter the room. he placed his keys, wallet and phone on the counter, frowning softly.
“sorry i’m late,” here we go again, “i told max i needed to be home by 4 and he insisted we played another round before i left.”
you nodded, taking another sip from the glass on your right, “‘s fine.”
he watched you swallow thickly, tilting your head to look back out the window. he noticed the way your hand tapped against your arm softly, his eyes moving to the plates set on the table. your grandmother’s china.
his heart dropped when he thought back to your conversation the other night, him saying the two of you would have a proper sit down meal tonight since he felt bad for running late lately.
and he just fucked it all up even more.
“you don’t have to lie,” he said, making you advert your attention back to him, “i know you know it’s not fine.”
you shook your head, “what’s it matter to you, anyway?”
he knew he deserved the digs and jabs you were sending his way, “seriously, lando, if you’re not interested in me anymore just say it instead of making me play this stupid game.”
the silence that fell between the two of you after was the final blow. he watched your cheeks glisten in the soft candle light, and fuck, he hated seeing you cry. especially when it was because of him.
he didn’t know what to say as your chair scraped the floor, getting up from your spot at the table and picking up your plate. the food untouched as you grabbed the saran wrap from the pantry.
he heard your quiet sniffle, “i’m so sorry, y/n-“
“then where have you been the past two months?” he blinked back at you before you continued, “every single day it’s the same, overused excuse. so, what is it really, lando? enlighten me.”
he swallowed because he didn’t have answer that didn’t sound like he was making an excuse. he really had been busy with work, but he knew he could’ve done better with planning to make more time for you and him.
you knew he loved you with every fiber of his being, but you were upset. you were angry and sad and all you wanted was for him to come home and spend time together like the two of you used to do. but it was like it was too much to ask for.
of course you knew what you were signing up for when he took you on your very first date, but you didn’t know it would mean being put on the back burner, begging to be let in on the things going on his life.
his silence made you nod, “right,”
he reached out to you slowly, not sure how you would react. you bit down on your bottom lip, the dam breaking now as he stepped towards you.
“y/n,” he said your name softly, understanding that your lash-outs were because of men who had hurt you in the past, knowing too well what it felt like when anxiety and over thinking takes over. he couldn’t be mad at you, he just wanted to make things right. make you feel reminded that he loved you. more than racing, more than his friends, more than anything in the whole world.
the back of your hands were raised to your eyes when he grabbed them and pulled you closer to him, letting your body rest against his chest. you gave in, knowing that at the end of the day, he was your safe place. your shoulder to cry on, the one who always saw you in your most vulnerable stages. there was no getting past him with this one.
your hands wrapped around his middle loosely as you cried softly into his chest. he rested his head against yours, rubbing your back the same way he always did whenever he’d comfort you. his lips pressed against your hair before he grabbed your face gently, lifting your chin to have you look at him.
he wiped the tears from your cheeks, eyes searching yours and that’s when you realized he had been crying too, “i’m gonna talk to my trainer and the guys and tell them i need a little bit of a break, and you and i are gonna spend every single day together doing whatever you want.”
you felt selfish now, “but this is your job, lan,”
“i don’t care,” he said, shaking his head as he moved his hand to hold your cheek, “they’ll be fine if i take a few days off.”
your hand came up to mimic his on your cheek, your fingers brushing against the small moles on his face. the same ones your lips press against whenever you kiss his face. the pads of your thumbs brushed away the small tear lingering around his nose.
“i’m sorry,” you apologized, feeling guilty for being cold to the boy who loved you like no other.
“don’t apologize,” he said, “i should’ve done better. you don’t deserve to feel like you’re on the back burner of my life.”
you wrapped your arms around his neck as his snaked around your waist, pulling you closer as if it was even possible. you looked back out the window, the light from the golden hour sun shining on the trees in the backyard. he pressed a gentle kiss to your cheek, “i love you.”
you smiled softly, pulling back to meet his gaze. your smile making his lips turn up into one mirroring yours, “i love you, too.”
he leaned down and pressed a kiss to your lips, a mixture of the wine you had with dinner and the salty tears you had cried a few moments prior with the subtle hint of your chapstick.
you both pulled away, him taking you by surprise when he lifted you off the ground. you squealed, a soft giggle escaping your lips as you clung onto his hoodie for dear life.
“lando!” you laughed, letting him carry you to the couch and thanking yourself for putting his dinner plate in the fridge earlier.
you had your boy back.

The Bejeweled Elevator is The Eras Tour
Simply put, the Bejeweled Elevator depicts the timeline of the Eras Tour and the remaining re-records! Let's get into it!
(Quick note: more pictures & links to come, this is just taking forever and I needed to get it posted before we're too far into the London shows! I've had this theory brewing since October 2023 and I'll be damned if y'all don't get to read it before it all comes to fruition.)
The Basement
The Basement is the period of time between folklore and evermore's surprise releases and the start of The Eras Tour. It begins with a shot of the golden "invisible" string that leads Taylor through the cardigan and willow music videos. We see Taylor scrubbing away at her step-sister's mess, dutifully fulfilling her role as the tired, tacky, exiled wench. Step-Mommy, Alana, Este, and Danielle seem to have taken Taylor in after a falling out with Prince Jack (oh, what a marvelous gift, for which Taylor should be most grateful). They delight in her position as their servant girl and assert their dominance over her, forbidding her from attending the grand ball. Taylor is being locked in the basement and forced to work for people who already live in excess. She clearly resents her step-family and Prince Jack, whose portrait depicts him with her cats, which represent her catalogue of original recordings.
Taylor has been working away on her own project while her controllers are not around, biding her time until exile ends and she can escape (fresh out the slammer, anyone?). With contempt in her eyes and vengeance in her heart, she meticulously sews beads onto the hooded cloak she wore to remain anonymous during the willow music video. A pocket watch appears out of thin air and tells her that her time in exile has finally ended, and she immediately begins her journey back to the penthouse to reclaim the land that was stolen from her.
The Elevator
Briefly, here is my concrete evidence that the Eras Tour is the Bejeweled Elevator.
The Capitol One Eras Commercial that released on the day the Eras Tour was announced depicts all the eras of Taylor gathered in a golden elevator.
The Eras Tour is full of visual transitions called an "elevator cut" where the screen splits in half vertically and slides open, just like elevator doors. I'd bet anything that our film director mastermind knows what that cut is called and that she has full creative license for everything Eras. None of it is accidental! (Twitter Thread here!) The same elevator cuts are used in several lyric videos, most significantly (imo) is Change.
The Eras Tour "takes us on a journey through 18 years of music," just as the Bejeweled Elevator takes Taylor on a journey through her musical career from basement to penthouse.
The Third Floor: Speak Now (Taylor's Version)
In the elevator, Taylor ascends to Floor 3. This represents the spring/summer 2023 U.S. Leg of the Eras Tour, during which she announced and released Speak Now (Taylor's Version). This time period was when Taylor started doing tons of pap walks again and was seen regularly in the public eye. She regained her sparkle, so to speak, and let herself shine in the spotlight. The media became supersaturated with Taylor Swift content - her scandal with Matty Healy & Ice Spice, her frequent public appearances, and the unbelievable success of the Eras Tour. On the 3rd floor, we see her depict exactly this - she struts a runway of dazzling gems, sheds her cloak, and leaves covered in brilliant jewels. You couldn't overlook Taylor Swift if you tried. This level of blossoming stardom and interest in her day-to-day life is reminiscent of the original Speak Now era.
She leaves this floor fully bedazzled, just as she left the August 9th show in Los Angeles in her sparkling purple shirt dress, glass of white wine in hand, formally entering the 1989 (Taylor's Version) Era.
The Fifth Floor: 1989 (Taylor's Version)
Next, Taylor ascends to Floor 5. This represents the Fall 2023 LatAm leg and Spring 2024 Oceania & Tokyo leg of the Eras Tour, during which she released 1989 (Taylor's Version). On the 5th floor, Taylor uses her sexuality to entertain alongside her dark haired twin, Dita Von Teese. This time period was marked by the frenzied consumption of Taylor's newest public relation(ship) strategy. Just like in the martini glasses on the 5th floor, Taylor learns how to embrace her dark side and uses her sexuality and alcohol to entertain a ravenous crowd. We met Vamplor and WAG Taylor on our TV screens as she cheered, brought record viewership, record jersey sales, and a whole new demographic of fans to the NFL. Her social and dating life was the subject of every. single. media outlet. Just as it was during the original 1989 era - every detail of her life was curated for our consumption.
The Thirteenth Floor: THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT
We arrive at The Penthouse, where the Queen's Ball is being held! Taylor puts on the performance of a lifetime for the Queen, using the lessons she learned on the Third and Fifth Floor to wow the royal judges. She sparkles, dazzles, and shines; she leans into the fun of entertaining and shows everyone how talented of a performer she truly is.
This penthouse performance for the monarchy represents the European Leg of The Eras Tour and the release of THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. The brand new TTPD set on the Eras Tour directly mimics the choreography in the music video.
Examples: The feathered fans surrounding Taylor. The two piece set in ICDIWABH. Lifted overhead. Stage & curtains background.
This leads me to make a few predictions regarding timeline and events for the rest of the tour.
The Kingdom Key and the Proposal
Needless to say, I believe the European Leg of the Eras Tour has more to surprise us with. Taylor is about to impress the Queen in London with this performance and she wins the ball! As winner, she's awarded the title of Queen, a proposal from the Prince, and most importantly to Taylor, the key to her castle.
Prince Jack is forced to propose to Housewench Taylor. This happens in front of a staged archway with tons of paparazzi snapping photos of their every move. Being awarded the key and the proposal are still part of the performance event of the 13th Floor. As soon as Taylor fulfills the requirements: perform, pose, and smile, she vanishes.
The Ghosting: reputation (Taylor's Version)
There will be no explanation. There will just be reputation.
reputation (Taylor's Version) will be announced on the last night of the London show run, accompanied by a shocking break up announcement that fuels the media's relentless speculation on her personal life.
The Castle: Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version)
Taylor stands on the balcony of her castle, surveying her land. This is the same castle that she moved into during reputation era, as depicted in LWYMMD. She's wearing TS hairclips, and has returned home. This scene represents the US Eras Tour Leg Part II, and the announcement and release of Taylor Swift (Taylor's Version). It's nearly dawn, and there is a Full Blood Moon above the castle. Interestingly enough, the October full moon is often called a Blood Moon, and the full moon this October is the day before Miami N1 (October 18th). I've been theorizing that Miami, Florida!!! is her real home for a long time, and TTPD sure did confirm that.
The Dragons: Karma
The final scene of Bejeweled is a wide shot of Taylor's Castle, where we can see three dragons setting the castle aflame. This is Karma - karma is a fire in your house. I'm not sure exactly what form Karma will manifest itself in, whether that's the missing TS6 album, a record label, exposing the industry for how abusive it is, coming out, or something else entirely. But, in the words of our mastermind, Karma is real.

I was the last anon about TTPD length - I totally agree about the front half being more cohesive like folklore and the later being more like evermore. Why do you think she chose to drop it as one long album instead of doing what she did for folklore and evermore? She calls those two sister albums and there is a connection but not like TTPD/the anthology (which to me is the second half!)
part one of ttpd describes what happened with matty, the fallout from joe, and way she reacted to the backlash. it was all the ways she self-harmed and how she felt damaged, not just by those men, but by the reaction.
part two feels broader and deeper:
the albatross and her cynicism about the public's ire informs i can fix him, the smallest man, who's afraid, florida!!!, and but daddy i love him. it's like the umbrella of those songs. they all have the thesis of "when you're persona non grata, i'll tell you i've been there too and that none of it matters."
similarly, how did it end? informs the entire first part: she calls us out for wanting the story, demanding more, but we still don't know... neither does she. it reveals the bruise of that relationship is still tender and that she knows our interest isn't pure.
i hate it here is like the umbrella for loml, guilty as sin?, i can fix him, but daddy i love him, fortnight, ttpd, down bad: a desire to escape her life that feels like a prison, and the way she uses fantasy as a coping mechanism (to her detriment.) but it also feels like an umbrella to bdilh, waolom, icdiwabh, and clra bow: she hates it here. this place made her feel worthless.
cososom, peter, the prophecy, and ilipw also all touch on themes in part 1: she wants something so simple. love, commitment. she takes us through some of her deepest fears: that she will never find lasting love, that she was cursed to never receive it because of the choices she made in life, and she's haunted by the what-ifs because of her deep desire to believe the universe is working in her favor.
and then the bolter, the manuscript: digging into the deep habits and patterns that formed her and inform EVERYTHING in her work.

okay so every single (okay some) pjo character and their opinion on taylor swift bc that’s all i think about:
percy jackson: isn’t the biggest swiftie in the world but adores her music if it’s on. he owns at least two copies of the 1989 cd and his fav song to blast while skateboarding is welcome to new york ofc.
annabeth chase: absolutely loves taylor, probably really resonated with her lyrics and storytelling style tbh. her favourite albums are definitely 1989 (the beach-y california vibe yk), lover, and midnights and folklore and evermore and fearless and reputation and speak now. (what can i say—she’s a swiftie)
grover underwood: he’s a music guy. ofc he likes taylor swift. probably only knows like four songs total, and they’re all from like debut and fearless but hey. that’s something.
piper mclean: you can’t tell me she doesn’t ADORE reputation. and probably fearless too actually. definitely has some kind of merch (a signed cd??) in her room back home.
hazel levesque: obviously didn’t know anything about her but once introduced, loves folklore and evermore and the tortured poets department. soft and soothing songs are defo her thing.
leo valdez: old mate probably listens to all too well every day tbh. he doesn’t love her and definitely isn’t a swiftie, but red (especially the vault tracks and the songs written for hunger games) are always welcome.
jason grace: my boy knows nothing. nothing. but you bet he finds out about her eventually and doesn’t really have an opinion either way. he neither hates or loves or dislikes or likes. it’s just music to him.
frank zhang: probably likes debut. but probably also never really thought about her or knew much about her music bc of his grandmother and stuff yk.
nico di angelo: to anyone’s face: absolutely not. but secretly? oh yeah. he would totally listen to folklore and shit are you kidding me?? he’s such a swiftie.
reyna avila ramirez-arellano: yes and no. a couple songs in her playlist but not like. that much. she doesn’t really mind her and doesn’t really love her either.
luke castellan: he’s lowkey a hater. probably listens to kanye just to spite swifties and writes those hate comments on all her fanpages and shit yk.
thalia grace: she likes about half of the reputation songs and a couple of ttpd too. (especially look what you made me do). but she’s more into older music like green day (iykyk hehe)
silena beauregard: UH. YES. lover girl in the flesh. she is totally the camp’s biggest swiftie and is the one who got annabeth into her. she’d defo have merch and posters and have memorised everything.
clarisse la rue: silena made her do it. that’s what she’d tell you,and it’s true!! but she has a secret soft spot for a good taylor swift song.
chris rodriguez: knows about her through clarisse, doesn’t really give a damn about her.
charles beckendorf: BIGGEST SWIFTIE EVER headcanon okok. owns merch. posters. go to her tours. the whole shibing shabong iykyk
apollo/lester papadopoulos: duh. he’s the god of music bro. i think he would appreciate the literal music industry herself
meg mccaffery: no way. she’s a professional hater for the pure fun of it, has probably never heard a single song other than shake it off, and comments ‘kanye better’ on all her fan accounts
carter kane: tbh he would appreciate her lyricism a lot, but doesn’t strike me as someone who listens to that much music in general?? also he wouldn’t really know a lot of normal pop culture stuff necessarily, so…
sadie kane: she likes her. she likes everything. she’s a pop girlie fs, so reputation/midnights are her BANGER albums. she would definitely have some taylor swift on her ipod playlist, but she’d be more into avril lavigne, lady gaga, olivia rodrigo and stuff like that.
zia rashid: who’s taylor swift?
magnus chase: the only canon swiftie magnus you have my heart. he’s also a basic white girl, thank you very much. he literally (IN CANON BTW) recognises ‘blank space’ and ‘i know places’ and identifies them as taylor swift. so. yeah. he’s a swiftie fs
coach hedge: lol nope. he’d have the worst music taste of all time. NEVER give him the aux
sally jackson: she would LOVEEE evermore and speak now and debut, fight me. she’s also just the perfect person ever so ofc she loves taylor swift
paul blofis: would defo vibe to it imo, but would never put any songs in his playlist tho cause he’s boring ok maybe he would for sally’s sake. and estelle’s
#just so you know i’m the argo 2 so i know all this personally#source: trust me bro#percy jackson#pjo#walker scobell#percy jackson and the olympians#perseus jackson#taylor swift#annabeth chase#taylor swift and pjo#book percy#swiftie#percy jackson as taylor swift#pjo swifties#percy jackson x taylor swift#pjo headcanons#taylor swift eras

SWIFTIE ENID
Okay as a half swiftie I’ve come to both defend Enid as a a swiftie and deny it. Because this is a complicated subject that is heavily debated and I think it honestly it’s a matter of how people characterize Enid BUT as a gay swiftie I have very strong opinions about this.
Okay first I’m going to deny Enid as a swiftie. I feel like Enid having grown around brothers would probably have her grown to resent Taylor Swift as most men hate on her. So Enid wouldn’t have grown to be a Swiftie. Also Taylor’s dating history may have her mom hate on Taylor Swift and so Enid may have subconsciously also picked up on that. But that is stuff from her childhood now as a teenager she may have grown out of that original hate. NO just like me Enid is going to feel icky about Taylor Swift because of her relationship with Taylor Lautner, she was like 20 and he was 17 so that makes her kind of a pedophile and I only knew this once I had already obsessed with most of her music. So Enid is going to also be icky about it, also Enid is a Taylor Lautner fan because my headcanon is that he actually is a werewolf in the Wednesday universe.
BUT if we ignore all that, these are my opinions on Enids Swiftie taste.
So for favorite album I know I’m expected to say 1989 or Folklore, which I was going to say folklore but upon further evaluation I think the winner is…Fearless. Contrary to popular belief NO ITS NOT BECAUSE OF LOVE STORY, I just think the album has a vibe and beat that Enid would like more. Plus this album has some bangers I think she would like obviously Love story, but there is other songs like The way I loved you, Fearless, Untouchable, You belong with me and Mr Perfectly fine.
But outside of the Fearless album I do think she listens to some songs from other albums, probably the most famous songs from each album so here is my list of one song I think is Enid’s favorite from each album. (I tried to pick less popular ones but the popular songs won)
Fearless- The way I loved you.
Reputation- Gorgeous (OMG THIS IS THE ENID SWIFTIE SONG, like it gives me gay vibes and sparkles and sassyness)
1989- Style (This was really hard cause most of them are bangers)
Folklore- Invisible String (another hard one cause the album is very Enid)
Evermore- Right where you left me (basic I know)
Red- All too well (10 minute version) (SUE ME FOR PICKING THE POPULAR ONE)
Speak now- I can see you (This is so Wenclair)
Lover- The archer (Lover and Paper ring are too much on the nose)
Midnight - You’re on your own kid (Sue me again)
Ttpd- The prophecy (another Enid banger song LIKE ITS SO ENID)

ttpd review: thoughts (and prayers)
cuz wtf was that. (also providing my two cents that no one gives a shit about)
Is the promotion in the room with us?
Not going to lie, this part pissed me off. As a post evermore release swiftie, the first album release I got was midnights. And while the promotion for midnights wasn't astoundingly genius, the track list release (midnights mayhem with me) was smart. Everyday, there would be chaos all over social media of taylor taking out a number and releasing the track name. The excitement over YOYOK was to die for. But after reaching peak fame, girlie just decided shit wasn't necessary anymore. Absolutely no promotion for ttpd, except a few lyrics that provided no context (or excitement) whatsoever. That, and the very non subtle "hinting" of some big reveal of what went down between her and joe, by making some playlists, that not only ruined the perspective of many of her fans and the relationship they had with her previous songs, but ALSO. THE ALBUM HAD BARELY ANYTHING ABOUT JOE. (Not that i personally care about what happened, but it was so unnecessary to center the ONLY promotion done around someone who was barely a part of the album). Swifties went on the internet to harass joe alwyn (and his female coworkers) who might as well be called a special mention on a matty healy album. Why even do all that then? We will never know.
Confusion?
taylor released 31 songs, and while a double album theory coming true would be a dream come true for any swiftie, it just... wasn't. Out of 31 songs, barely 10 stood out. Some of it just didn't make sense, in any way. "Why is this on the album?" "This sounds like a midnights vault track." "No issues, maybe this is just a skip. I'll listen to the next. Oh wait nvm. Um." Like girl what. It just feels like a giant vault album of synth pop music.
Also, it's called the tortured poets department. There is barely anything poetic or tortured about the album aesthetic. Except maybe it's torturing me, but I'm as much of a poet as she is, which basically means I'm not one.
The album just feels so different than the other albums, in the sense that they followed an aesthetic, a certain style of music and lyrics, and created some sort of story. This one just feels like she wrote many songs and put them all on an album, picked whatever track name seemed interesting enough as the album name, and called it a day. Some of the songs are gems, some create a confusion as to why they are on this album, and some just make you cringe- or atleast go "wtf". Which is fine, but if not even half the songs fall under the first category out of 30 songs, then it's a problem.
These were written by... taylor?
The lyrics omfg. I'm not going to be one of those ppl who go around saying that the lyrics sounded like an emo middle schooler (I've heard this take) BUT again, some songs have lyrics that make you question how taylor, someone who wrote the albums folklore and evermore, and many great songs like would've, could've, should've, story of us, all too well, fearless, white horse, dbatc, daylight, red... I could keep going tbh, produced...this.
It was very weird to listen to the words "tattooed golden retriever" from someone who wrote "handsome, you're a mansion with a view" (also who the FUCK is calling matty healy that??)
A very important part of taylor's music is how it is focused on the lyrics. The music itself isn't the most special, or different, in most of her songs, but what makes them (and her) special is her songwriting. However, from her songwriting going from commonly used phrases and idioms to make them tell a story, use a wide range of vocabulary, heavily using personification, allusion, transferred epithet, and a few other figures of speech that she uses in her songs to make elements such as colours, for example, tell a story, in a way it seemed effortless and fit perfectly, to this... now it feels like she's trying to do that, but that's it. She's TRYING, and it's not yielding results, and seems more like a try hard "poet" rather than... whatever she was going for. The songs are filled with self-satisfied "clever" metaphors that are being reused and recycled over and over. This is not what ppl meant when they asked you to be more environmentally friendly, taylor.
Final thoughts I guess?
While the songs are basically only an empty shell of something that taylor used to make, the album isn't all bad. Some of the songs do sound good and go well with taylor's voice (aaron dessner, the fucking legend you are) and are quite enjoyable, if not as memorable as her other songs.
There are songs such as the prophecy, clara bow, so long, london, loml, guilty as sin?, etc., that really do come through and honestly I really like them.
I do feel that the album can grow on people, but it's just... not the best. Like she says so much, and not to quote taylor swift, but genuinely the only thing in my head right now is "the more you say, the less I know".
Overall, the album is fine, but not in taylor swift standards. It's just... not bad, with some exceptions.
