you know what I keep thinking about, actually, when it comes to VG? Arcane. because I hear from people who think deeply about stuff that S2's chardev and worldbuilding is way more disappointing than S1's was, and yet I have the feeling I'm gonna be super shallow about the whole thing just because Viktor turns into whatever the fuck that cool thing is I keep seeing in gifsets.

which is almost the opposite experience from VG where I'm like "okay yeah no the big weird shit is very cool! but [gestures angrily at the extremely thin worldbuilding and chardev]"

#which is wild bc what i play around with in thedas is also a lot of big weird shit bc of who anansi is #but see... that's the thing. i can do the big weird shit very ably on my own. i don't need a game to delve deeply into that #bc i'm gonna do it anyway. what i NEED the game to do is bring the grounded details. the building of the actual mortal world #like how i don't care about the imperium at all but that's ok bc RT will fill in those blanks for me #which only makes being a filthy heretic even MORE fun because the world is complex enough to handle my bullshit #and give me plenty of interesting sand in the sandbox to fuck arond with.#it's like.... collaborative play. i'm bringing my stuff; the gamedevs are bringing their stuff; and together we are making Even More Stuff #idk. the point is i thought i would have so much Stuff to make now that we're in tevinter and i'm getting nothing.#i gotta make everything myself i guess. that's not as much fun as it sounds.#anyway as far as arcane is concerned i just REALLY like whatever that super cool thing is and idk enough about the world #to be affected by the other stuff. i explicitly went into this show with the intention to just attach to whatever i attach to #which is different from my relationship with some of these video games
