i've read a couple posts now that have me Thinking, and i will say, I was skeptical with Violet's hesitancy over Francesca's match. I felt like Violet was dismissing the love Francesca felt for John, or, at least, the narrative itself was. and by the end it kind of proves that, yeah, the narrative was dismissing the love Francesca felt for John because it shows a much more magnetic attraction to Michaela right off the back.
at the same time, I was always at least a little bit suspicious of how fast Francesca wanted to be married. It felt like she was attached to the idea of her life with John, rather than him as a person. I think she found a kindred spirit in him, but I don't know if she was truly in love or if she even had any idea of what it would feel like to be in love.
so it didn't come out of nowhere that she was attracted to Michaela from the get go. And I can agree, from the perspective of representing different types of love, it might feel frustrating to play into Violet's idea that all love must start with passionate sparks flying and nervousness and being flustered but... I mean... I think that is often how a lot of us experience romantic attraction? and this show is, first and foremost, a romance.
I think if Francesca is in fact a lesbian this is a fairly good depiction, and, honestly, I prefer the reading that she is a lesbian rather than bisexual because it's A) interesting and B) makes sense.
Francesca, having never been in love before, rushes into a marriage with a man she feels deep kinship with because she thinks this must be love. They have things in common, and operate similarly. It's probably love, right? Besides, she rushes in because she's introverted and autistic and wants to be over with the dating portion already.
But how was she to know what it felt like to be attracted to someone when she was only ever dating men? and now- she meets a woman she's attracted to. I'm not saying she's in love with Michaela, yet, but, there's something drawing her to her in a very different way than John. Which I think is an intriguing place to go with her character, and am eager to see how all that develops

"Maybe Francesca's 'look' at Michaela the end was just like 'grr get away from my man'"
Bitch no, not only did john INTRODUCE Micheala as his cousin, but also Francesca is gay. The look was a reference to Violets earlier words about Edmund, how she couldnt get her words out around him at first she was so flustered and nervous.
the absolute nonsense i've been seeing everyone, it's a dumpsterfire over there.
kay but watching the normal ppl reacting to Bridgerton on facebook these past few days has been a wild ride, these fuckers miss EVERYTHING, and i really do mean everything.
they dont clock connecting scenes, references to past character conversations, they dont notice little facial expressions, they misread intent behind scenes, they completely forget about interactions from previous seasons.
THIS IS HOW NORMAL PEOPLE WATCH SHOWS.
HOW DO ANY OF THEM ENJOY ANYTHING EVER?
