Sprite Sketches: Fault 00
Making some sprites for my Shadowrun Technomancer. Not sure on the style, aside from giving the sprites a graffiti look. Maybe with more tasks owed, they look more and more like something well put together, becoming more slapdash until they automatically deregister.

tending to that one niche character i love like i am the last worshipper of an old pagan god whose strength is failing but it remains sustained by my prayers and my prayers alone. filling up their tags that otherwise remain empty like i am bringing a meager sacrifice of devotion to the shrinking altar on the outskirts of town that once was the pride of the city. that's what it feels like to blog about a guy from a show no one else cares about anymore.

I dearly hope we get to see more of Caraxes, hatchlings & the boys! I love how you give dragons their own personalities and make them more than just a narrative/transportation device. I bet Caraxes breathed a sigh of relief after he realized his reckless impulsive human finally got the hatchlings he so desired. I also bet he definitely feels how stressed the fuck out Daemon is rn lol I'd love to see boys interacting more with their father's dragon and Daemon with the hatchings because I am a sucker for that indirect type of bonding when being direct is hard for them right now
If you like Caraxes and the hatchlings, I have good news for you about chapters 24 and 26! We have my absolute favorite Caraxes and hatchlings interaction to date in 24, Caraxes being just the best adoptive dad ever. And some sweet cross-dragon bonding in 26!

Girl, help, the book authors are trying too hard to be "hip" with the fleeting "teen lingo" and trends again, immediately dating their works before they're even released

i think one of the things that is so refreshing to me about trobed is that a lot of slash ships in fandom are admittedly based around stereotypes. there’s kind of a cookie cutter pattern for how people accept gay couples, but none of that is really seen with troy/abed. the openly weird, film obsessed autistic nerd is seen as the more confident and experienced one in his sexuality. meanwhile, the popular and masculine jock is allowed to be overly emotional and sometimes insecure in his feelings.
this isn’t done just to subvert expectations though, it’s all in keeping with their characters. abed is sometimes perceived by his friends as a nerdy virgin, but the show goes out of the way to say that this isn’t the case, with a character that is very self-assured (in what is hinted at in canon and commonly accepted in fanon as his bisexuality.) troy, on the other hand, who works to portray a macho heterosexual persona, comes to realize it’s okay to get rid of those barriers and explore himself now that high school is over. it all comes off as a very authentic portrayal of queer identity, and the chemistry between troy and abed makes for a very real portrayal of a gay couple, whether it was intentional on the writers’ part or not.

I really need to get more into marxist god-building. As soon as I started reading a review of Lunacharsky’s writings on how Marxism evokes religious emotion and is basically scientific theology it was like discovering what i had believed but didn’t realise it

I am failing to ignore twitter but I did not realise the kipperlily crew were losing their mind as much as they are with brennan's interview on screenrant and the idea that kipperlily was not a good person and forced that onto the other rat grinders

I in no way think you’re supposed to be uncritical of Kate Stewart and her litany of poor choices (including using the Triad tech of a woman you’re investigating as an evil alien threat for fuck’s sake Katherine), but can you imagine Captain Jack walking in while the Doctor is finger-guns’ing everyone, looking him dead in the eyes and saying
“If you saw that I had hired children you would have had a stroke.”

watching daniel sharman act among the rest of the cast in ftwd s8b kinda feels like... he's the only original character, the rest are all fanon versions and so Troy is the only one aware something isn't right but he's got to play along with this bad fanfic script
he's as bewildered as we are

Hearing a clip of flans on this podcast talking about how they were influenced by the residents because they're a very distinct band and you feel like when you listen to them you're really entering their world and it's just like that's EXACTLY what I was trying to express the other day and failing to do so the idea that they really did create this musical universe where it's like if there's no place for these Weird songs to exist we will create this place where they can . And you really do get that feeling that it's like recordings from another dimension sometimes obviously especially with like early dial a song stuff where you're hearing it over the phone so that really lends it that air but in general that's something I love about their music So much .. and obviously there are themes and imagery that's repeated throughout their body of work I don't know its my favorite thing ...tmbgworld. I need to go live there

I will humbly ask that Jon's name, if it has to change, which I don't believe it does, be something original like 'Aenar'.
While it would be in character for Daemon to want him to take a name after any late great Targs, or for Viserys to allow almost any name Jon prefers, Jon would favour originality amidst the typical Targ names that currently populate his family.
Ah, but really I only wish for Jon's name NOT to be after Jaehaerys the Wise (the Cruel to all the women in his family) like it is always done in every single fanfic.
If Jon picks a name, it will probably be largely a symbolic gesture. I do not plan for it to be Jaehaerys, if that allays any concerns.

"Like everyone else in the modern world, large parts of my life have become increasingly digital, sometimes against my will. The result is a very mixed bag. Some things have improved, and others have definitely degraded. I constantly wrestle with the balance of these changes, and I try to be mindful about them. But this is the hardest to do where it intersects with my work.
I’ll start with streaming. I did not come up on streaming. I’m in my 40s, so by the time I was buying music of my own it was the early 90s and I had cassette tapes. Then came the CD, then mp3 players, then streaming and cell phones. The last change has affected how I interact with music the most. Since streaming became the norm, I listen to music a lot less. I know my age is a factor here, but streaming has killed a lot of my desire to explore. I still love to hear new music, but I’m basically 100% recommendation based at this point. I never browse platforms like Spotify. In theory, having all of recorded music available at once, for a monthly fee that’s less than what a single album cost 30 years ago, would be a feeling of abundance, of infinite possibilities. But the actual result is just being overwhelmed. Sifting through hundreds of thousands of tracks that aren’t quite doing it for me just sounds exhausting. So I don’t use it very much. I cant remember the last time I actively searched for new music on it. And passive things like algorithmic suggestions and playlists have not filled the gap.
I also work in music, so I’m always suspicious of how much that colors my opinion. But I feel the same way about film these days. I used to really stay on top of movies and shows. Since the streaming model has taken over, I have that same overwhelmed, agitated feeling I get from the music platforms. Scrolling through all those films and shows, with their auto-playing trailers and automated recommendations, just makes me turn the tv off. So I rely entirely on recommendations here, too, and I have no desire to explore.
It’s been strange watching former hobbies and sources of joy turn into chores, or even things I actively avoid. I realize that a lot of people will feel the exact opposite here, though. I don’t think this is unanimous by any means. But this is how it has turned out for me, and it has made what I do for a living feel really strange. Because I no longer enjoy these platforms very much as a user, releasing work has become increasingly dissonant. How do you make things for platforms you don’t personally enjoy? I’ve never had this issue before now. I liked buying albums. I liked going to record stores, where they had curated selections, and hunting for something that I wanted to take home with my very limited funds. So the idea of creating something that would be packaged as an album, that someone else might discover in a shop and decide to take home, was really motivating. It served as a mental model. And while I liked going to shows sometimes, they weren’t what made me want to write songs. I was all about records and the process of finding them. I cherished my tiny little collection, and the idea of being a part of someone else’s was really cool to me.
Watching a number occasionally go up on an app I personally try to avoid isn’t quite the same." - Ben Cooper/Radical Face's blog entry Investment Strategies [x]

I have learnt to really appreciate the Director's Suit more having replayed Control's main story and now AWE. I never used to vibe with it, but it just makes me feel so professional :)
