that one arashi post about presenting her as overtly feminine in fan media but not in a "trans women are only valid if they conform to traditional femininity" kinda way and more in a "happyele are a bunch of pussies for having a trans woman imply/state she wants to be more feminine in every sense of the word and then never letting her do so beyond socially" kinda way
#i cant remember if i rbd that on my old blog or this one??#but i am Thinking about it again#its smth i always try to be conscious about?? bc as a more man-leaning person i do not present masc 90% of the time#and i rlly dont feel pressured to present a certain way since im kinda all over the place when it comes to gender#and with arashi its like. the opposite?? like she feels pressured to present more masculine bc of her public status#but she WANTS to wear cute dresses and flowy skirts and big puffy blouses with obnoxiously large bows#the long hair is non negotiable i give all my faves a mullet whether they want it or not#i blame axel kingdom hearts for starting that trend#ensemble stars#enstars#arashi narukami#AND SOCIAL TRANSITION IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS ANY OTHER KIND#and for a lot of trans ppl thats enough!#but she is v clear about wanting to fit a more traditional feminine image bc she WANTS to. NOT bc shes EXPECTED to.#ok thats it i always get defensive for literally no reason whenever i draw her#i think its bc hiyori is there too and i feel like i dont make her as fem looking??? i just suck at drawing women idk man#if youre not androgynous/slightly fem looking or literally built like yoshiya kiryu i cannot draw you sorry#iamtryingforchiakiiamTRYING

i have very little interest in interacting w media exclusively populated by very intentionally cis gay characters and that seems to be what gay dude furry vns tend to like doing. im sure theyre fun for cis guys bcuz u probably wont even consider it as kind of weird or shitty when its more ppl like u, but i am neither cis nor particularly interested in media that just doesnt have any women in it. not even entirely bcuz of the bisexuality and wanting to date the fake women cuz as established i dont have an interest in pretending to date fictional people its just kindof an immediate turn off (non sexual) for me for something to not have any female characters regardless of the like format or genre of the thing lol, and i think its more common w this stuff bcuz it generally exists For that like fantasy romance. maybe if the vns had more even splits with gender or if they werent all cis dudes + all cis dudes 1 trans guy etc id be more interested but i feel like i look at a lineup of all cis men and even being a bi man i just think nah no thanks
#like im not throwing this as a criticism bcuz i rly dont Know enough abt these formats to criticize them#ive only seen what ive personally stumbled across ykwim. but i can say for me personally theres not a lot of interest#if i made my own Thing id prob do a mix of genders and everyones bi and theyre also all trans. for My interest <3#it wouldnt be a dating thing tho or if it was i would try and do the 'taking a thing that doesnt interest you#and trying to make it interesting to you personally'#anyway its not like i 'cant' relate to cis guys or whatever obviously lmfao thats not the issue#trans ppl relating to cis ppl that share our genders isnt the issue. the other way around is apparently whats sooo hard for cis ppl#i just dont feel like giving a shit. is the thing. i could just make my own thing

Maybe bc it's been a long time ago and old problems seem smaller but I'm having such a hard time w figuring out exactly if I want to transition or not. Like I'm not unhappy rn but I feel like I would be more happy as a transmasc Lesbian but also it's very scary to me....
#quenthel special#last week or so i saw somebody i follow here whos also hungarian talk abt starting t or being on t#and i kept telling myself that getting on t as a nb person was impossible w legislation but maybe not#but also im leaving and abroad laws are different#but my god i dont want ky family be weird abt it bc i would change then...#and im worried abt finding work already so as a trans immigrant that would be even harder...#the more i struggle w tgis the more respect n adoration i have for all trans ppl too bc this shit is so so scary...#idk if i will ever be brave enough to go for it at least not w a horde of ppl supporting me...#like im esp worried abt my family bc they mean a lot to me but being a masc dyke already is kind of pushing it i feel like#so maybe being a transmasc lesbian would be truly a step too far...#also what would my best friend think.... he understands how i feel abt my gender 100% but im still so worried#and it does not help im starting to be less comfortable being gendered as a woman by strangers but being called a man again would be bad too#also im worried that being on t would being back a medical issue i had and ill need surgery again bc thats so expensive...

thinking about how my usual go-to intersex dirk is affected by cooercive gendering in both the beta and alpha timelines.... and just gender stuff in homestuck in general.... cause the timeframe really counts. where babydirk lands temporally really makes or breaks this guy and his rship with his body. dirk as a character is so concerned abt how others percieve him that he wears his interests and hobbies like leather armour. he wears the projected images other ppl have of him more than he just, yknow, is
dirk in the beta timeline wouldve been fostered and was CAMAB, but his puberty started doing Unexpected Things, so they took little bro to the doctor so he can have his manly male puberty 'fixed'. bro would spend his whole life directly under the thumb of hegemonic cismasculinity, and he would know that if he adjusted even an inch, just to shift his weight even a little, then he suddenly wouldnt be Man Enough. and the blowback for that would be terrifying for him. hed be being slowly suffocated by the adults in his life and lil cal constantly whispering into his ear. this would be part of bro's experience with being groomed for sure
dirk in the alpha timeline however would be a free range kid. he wouldve grown up basically genderless until he figured out how to peruse the dead internet and discovered what boys and girls as cisgender concepts were. alpha dirks problem wouldnt so much be that hes directly under the thumb of Cis Manhood, but bc hed be desperately chasing after the ghosts of communities long dead. hed be directionless. he assumes hes a boy, he feels like one a lot of the time, but is he really? he keeps finding conflicting information on what Being A Man is, what Being A Woman is, what being Anyone At All is. hed chase after cismasculinity bc itd just feel the most familiar to him. he'd fall into the traps chrisofacist gender rolls laid out for masculinity bc thered be no one around but himself and his own very fallable perspecetive on this stuff to help get him out of it. and roxy is in the exact same boat. theyd have no idea how to even START talking about this except through the pidgeonhole of compcis
and its interesting too cause there IS talk of gender in the alpha session, but its from calliope whos also very very very removed from human (and troll, bc theyre analogous in canon) gender in the first place, eerily similar to dirk and roxy and their particular brand of isolation from humanity**. callie very explicitly represents the side of fandom that is good-faith exploration of canon, but whos too married to their own fanon and always more biased towards it over canon. i love callie so much but shes my biased and unreliable queen haha. what she says about gender, esp supposed gender-locked classpect stuff, isnt nessicarily, actually true. and thats REALLY cool bc of course everyone is a little biased about gender stuff and trans theories. its so personal how can we not be yknow?? and we experience other ppl through our own lens, having even residual biases (just favouring pink moreso than blue for example, im not talking abt bigotry) is just really normal imo. callie's a really good example of this. she knows shes a girl and loves being a girl, as she fuckin should, so she holds a grain of bias towards femininity and womanhood
**normally i would include jake in The Social Isolation, but again, where the alpha kids landed temporally REALLY makes a difference. jake is also completely isolated but he has an active and current internet to dig through. i wanna explore jakes relationship w/ himself more often but my brain is so full of dirk and roxy and callie its, well, its bias LMAO

BLOCK LIST
BIG LIST OF A BUNCH O PEEPS I BLOCKED
as well as why! i'll add on as i go!:)
we do NOT condone harassment, please just block.
includes: pro/endos, radqueer, transID, anti good faith, and more!! XP
first off, so were on the same page, what are these and why are they bad?
pro/endos: try to demedicalize a dissociative disorder, claim you can be a system without trauma, more info here 👉 [X] [X] (both are carrds that link multiple sources) (sorry they didnt save ill put it in later)
radqueer: these are people who transIDs (transage, transrace, etc. these people claim to identify as a different race or even pretend to "transition" into being disabled like transautistic) or ARE them.
anti good faith: good faith identities are basically identities made in good faith. this tends to encompass "contradictory" identities such as lesboys and other mspec identities. anti good faith people police gender and sexuality identities and invalidate these peoples experiences and try to exclude them from spaces or tell them what THEIR sexuality is. dont be misguided into thinking you're doing good if you exclude these people, its splitting up the lgbtq+ community, and thats what they (TERFs, anti-lgbtq+) want us to do.
now onto the blocklist!:)
radfems, TERFs, and transmeds
pach1-pach1 (deleted his dni but befor it was deleted it said that they support vivzie, are anti xenogenders and neoprns iirc, and anti good faith. a reply on my post abt telling ppl to block them also said theyre a transmed, so did another account. theyve also been seen harassing anti endos despite claiming to be it himself) (they own syspunk-is-anti-endo-losers as well)

ive been thinking about trans julian and how his parents call him jules and a lot of ppl r like "oh well being trans is accepted in the federation so theres no way his parents could be transphobic!" which like. thats what living in a blue state is like lmao. btu i was thinking about this more from that angle and ended up with the idea that yeah, his parents are supportive, but its all superficial. Julian's parents are obsessed with reputation and images (his father specifically, and I personally do not believe they chose to alter Julian absent of any kind of shame. Come on now.), and because of the acceptance thats commonplace on earth and the federation, they cannot be openly transphobic without risking their standing and reputations. So they use his pronouns, let him do informed consent hrt, but all the while telling him how hes "wasting" and "ruining" the" perfect body they gave him". and julian knows they only support him for their own image. And this is how I get to the "Jules" thing. It is his deadname. That was his given name. But Jules is a masucline enough name for people unaware to not think its deadnaming. Even people who do know Julian is trans, they think it's just a nickname his parents have for him. That's why they're so inistant on calling him Jules. They can't misgender him, they'll look ridiculous, and thats more clearly transphobic than calling him Jules. Its the last thing they have to truly let him know how they think of him as an individual. He can get as far away from them as possible, but they will always have something over him. They will always be able to remind him of what they think is "the truth". Julian's parent's see his transition as a betrayal and a waste, but cannot openly be unsupportive, so they use the last thing they have. Calling him Jules. And nobody notices, nobody thinks anything of it. It's Julian's weight alone to bear, surrounded by people who love him, but can do nothing to help because they just don't know. He's terrified of having even more of his weaknesses revealed.
#and post! i am crying.#dr bashir#julian bashir#ds9#deep space 9#deep space nine#trans julian bashir#trans#transgender#star trek#this is long sorry im insane

i feel really selfish saying this, but i really wish there were more general trans movies with characters who aren't trans women. like, i'm really glad that they're there and there should be more, but on the other hand, its kinda all thats there? obviously there ARE movies like this, but 9 times out of 10 when there's a recommendation to go see a trans movie, its either a trans women or a character heavily implied to be a trans women there. and i'm really glad those movies are there! but i'd just wish there could be a big discussion about movie and there would be a trans man or a nonbinary person representing the community.
(this also goes for other types of media too)
i sent an ask complaining about how the majority of trans movies that the community talks mainly show trans women and i wanna take that back cause a lot of those media are shitty towards trans women. i dont think its fair to complain about that when those media are awful towards trans women. i apologize
anon of the trans ppl in media asks you can publish them! i retracted it cause im kinda emotional rn and i couldn't really remember if i was being fair or shitty
I think what you're forgetting, anon, is that while trans women are depicted badly in a lot of places - less so over the years, people mainly reference things from the previous century - there's still way more positive transfem rep than there is of anything for transmascs, and that doesn't mean transfems have it better, but as always hyper-visibility and invisibility are two sides of the same coin. It's okay for invisibility to not feel good. There should indeed be more media about transmascs.
Now I'm finally doing that. This year I made my first ever hand sewn cosplay. There are definitely mistakes, but it's pretty sturdy and I can't express the sheer sense of pride I got from wearing something I sewed myself. There are some things I wanna tweak on it, like I must have made a mistake when measuring the waistband because it's WAY too thick. But it's functional, it's accurate, and it even has a zipper! It was expensive because of course for my first ever sewing project I picked a character with a pleated skirt (you need 3x your waist in fabric and im fat which definitely adds up lmao, plus i got the fabric custom printed from a print-on-demand company) and the pleats took forever to do. But I'm so so so proud of it. I'm looking into armor crafting with EVA foam for a future cosplay, and it's intimidating but I'm really excited at the idea of working with it. I've seen so many amazing armor sets and props made with EVA foam and I can't wait to make my own. I'm thinking I'm gonna cosplay Maple from BOFURI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, So I'll Max Out My Defense.. Then again, that might be jumping off straight into the deep end again like I did for the last cosplay since she has a GIANT shield. At least I'm sticking to her main outfit, not the one with giant angel wings lmao. I may have watched several videos on wing crafting but even I'm not brazen (or stupid) enough to try making those for only my second real cosplay lmao. Anyway this has been your regularly unscheduled cosplay info dump. Thank you for tuning in, we'll see you next time!
Ambitious! I hope it all turns out great, it sounds like a lot of big projects to have on one's plate.
My opinions are a lot more nuanced than most takes on 'shipcourse' that ive seen, but I've gathered that im generally included when people say 'proshippers dni' based on how people define it in said dnis. I'm not gonna purposefully interact with someone who obviously doesn't want me there. But that makes it frustratingly difficult to find people to follow who also believe in things like transandrophobia. It happens all too often that I find someone with great takes and go to follow them, then see that they have a dni that includes me. It especially sucks when all the other things in the dni are things like "racist" and "transphobic". I'm sorry, but I just can't see having a nuanced opinion on fiction as being on the same level as being a bigot towards others. It sucks to be put on the same level as actively hateful people because I have concerns about the normalization of censorship. I believe that when you open the doors to censoring media because of morals, you set the groundwork for things like the Hays Code. Censorship has always been disproportionately used to silence marginalized groups. I just can't get behind that, no matter how 'noble' the intentions behind it might be.
If it helps any, I'm also what one would call a pro-shipper but find the word itself beneath my dignity because I think it's ridiculous it's an argument in the first place.

kicking off my first analysis…
the most “clearly trans” (or not?) song by mcr.
“Not That Kinda Girl”
this unfortunately quite literally involves gerard and how they seem themselves.
lets dive in..
“everybodys talking bout the way you left your man” not to be THAT person but… around the time this song was (most likely) wrote was when Gerard and Bert McCracken had a falling out… not to mention they literally held hands during the Under Pressure performance. so.. yeah “everybodys talking bout the way you held his hand”
now these could be interpreted as filler lyrics… however i would like to interpret it as Gerard figuratively drowning in the media’s portrayal of him and the expectations society has. kinda enough said..
ignoring the “borrowed” lyrics and the implications of that… jk.. there are a lot of implications of gerard borrowing lyrics from one of the first technically “feminist presenting” songs about a woman who is done with societies shit. sound familiar?…
“so say goodbye to all my friends” if im getting my facts right Gerard lost two good friend around this time… Frank and Bert… from my knowledge frank and gerard and well most of mcr for that matter were fighting and on the verge of quitting the band. and well i already mentioned what happened with Bert.
“i fell in love with her again” … this is obviously about Gerard and Lynz relationship.. a lot of people, even people close to him, did not want him marrying Lynz for countless reasons whether theyre valid or not. They got married around this time, and there was a lot of controversy because these things happen when youre a hot and famous rockstar especially a hot famous rockstar that kisses men… because the women want you the men want you and the gays want your representation. everyones gonna hate his spouse by default (not defending lynz (IDK anything about her)these are just facts…)
“everybodys talking bout the way you cur your hair” we know Gerard cut his hair and dyed it white for the black parade around this time. everyone was talking about it. obviously didnt give a flying fuck.
“everybodys talking bout the way you smoke that there” sensitive topic warning: … people were probably still talking about Gerards known cocaine addiction… and his path to sobriety and caring wayyy too much about what he does. they criticize him for smoking cigarettes bc ppl are insane and paranoid for some reason. i guess people are always hypercritical about celebrities especially if theyre a huge role model for vulnerable youth. Gerard has never cared too much about all that though. “i dont care at all”
now that we have established this song is clearly about Gerard, lets talk about a reoccurring line in this song
“cause im not that kind of girl”
this phrase has been kicked around for ages about women who sleep around or something. being “not that kinda girl” implies your “different from other girls” mostly in the sense that youre not a floozy or whatever… like lets not pin queens against eachother..
now why did Gerard use girl? he could have said “not that kinda guy/boy” but perhaps no one would get the reference unless they can read into the irony…
but i think Gerard likes the irony of using “girl” as a way to refer to themselves. because people have treated him and his relationship like hes just some “silly girl” or something. like they think Gerard is some kinda whore for kissing men and having gfs… the way society tends to view bisexual/queer people… (using bisexual bc theyve done things with guys and girls publicly and that makes you bisexual by societies standards..)
this song doesn’t necessarily have to do with being trans if you put it that way. Gerard is probably using “girl” to refer to themselves because of the irony.
but i’m gonna say this song is trans because why the fuck not.
thats just how i interpret it. it has trans vibes.
does not necessarily mean its about gerard, because gerard has made up so many characters for his music alone, why would this not be about just another character? the answer lies in the fact that all these things happened to him. hes talking about himself. isnt all singing, all lyrics, really about self awareness and self loathing or pondering of self? dont get me started… also the fact that all characters authors create are some fragment of themselves.. so yeah. referring to yourself as a girl (if you were born male) is just kinda trans…
now one last point after this conclusion. possibly a stretch. this song could be Gerard telling people they’re still queer even though they’re in a relationship with a woman. If this song is about Gerard being a girl then they’re saying they’re still queer for being in a relationship with another girl... tumblr dont FREAK. i said it was a stretch. (though it’s literally in the text…) but could just be like i said, just Gerard saying they’re still queer despite being in a “heterosexual passing” relationship and nothing else…
and this part i almost forgot… sorry for being all over the place i have adhd…. but this part kinda confirms my theory. “all your life i let you down”… is Gerard saying they let us down by letting society believe they are cis? idfk.
anyway. thats what makes me think this is the most off the bat transgender esque song.
transfems and lesbians this is YOUR song.

HI HI HI long ask incoming :,,DD
so i have a transmasc muslim character from Malaysia, and i was wondering what the biggest no-no’s are when it comes to writing their transition? and, also, what is it like being a queer muslim in general?
being a queer and trans asian i understand enough (personal experience lol) but i was raised (unfortunately) in a predominantly catholic country that has a LOT of misinformation abt muslims. which sucks. i vaguely know that removing one’s hijab is a very delicate, sensitive thing to do. but what happens when the person no longer identifies as a woman, and wishes to present masculinely? or heck, even present a bit femininely, but still choose to identify as a man? how would a trans muslim go about presenting the way they want to, in the theoretical situation that they’re in a safe enough environment to do so?
hii <333 i want to clarify beforehand that this is a VERY sensitive issue, esp among muslims. cause us as muslims have faced enough misrepresentation as is, and some (i promise not me) may consider it insulting and misrepresentative for a queer muslim to exist (as if they dont already). just, be wary when approaching this subject
now, the issue here is that trans muslims are an EXTREME minority, and i mean extreme. not many people transition and still call themselves muslim. they either renounce islam, or hide their identities for the sake of safety. islam resembles christianity in a way—queerness is a big no-no. HOWEVER, in islam its not haram to BE these things, its haram to act like it (specifically, acting like the opposite gender. dressing like them, who you get married to, etc)
you have to be v delicate, since most ppl would not accept a trans muslim character (i say most bc there are ppl who wouldnt mind, but society as a whole generally would in fact mind)
you almost never see women decide to take off their hijab bc they dont identify as a woman. removing the hijab is taboo enough in muslim culture, but doing that due to not identifying as a woman anymore? BIG no-no
if, theoretically, theyre in an environment safe enough to do so, they still may find ppl unfriending them bc of it, or tryna convince them not to do so for their own safety
HOWEVER, i do have genderqueer friends irl who are still muslim, all of them afab. im gonna use two of them as an example (keep in mind we do live in a transphobic/homophobic society)
the first one (genderfluid but goes w any pronouns) was a hijabi before they stopped identifying as a woman, and they still wear a hijab. however, they do wear chest binders and more masculine style of clothing (e.g. no skirts). they still cover their awrah (the part of a muslim that should be covered. for men its from the navel to below the knees, for women its everywhere except the face and hands), but theyve become a lil more careless w the hijab (like wearing it looser)
the second one (he/they) isnt a hijabi, and they still have long hair. however, he also wears a chest binder, but still likes makeup and things like that. ik less abt this one cause we arent as close as me n the first friend, but thats what ik
and i also mentioned the awrah. keep in mind that men have a hijab too, just a different kind. "hijab" just means covering, n both genders have to cover personal parts. so your character may stop wearing a headscarf, but they still have to wear longer shorts n grow out a beard (and yes, growing out your beard is a must for men in islam. according to most scholars anyway, since the prophet pbuh did it)
if your character was previously a hijabi, you might make him more careless w the hijab (showing more n more hair until he eventually renounces it completely) n start wearing more t-shirts w jeans and things like that (search up "grunge hijab" n youll see what i mean)
it IS better to make a trans non-muslim in a muslim society, considering a lotttttt of muslims might find it offensive if theres a trans muslim, but obv i have no say in your character and in the end its entirely your choice <33 just be aware that its kinda like stepping on broken glass here

do you know of any accounts around that center more uhhhh diverse understandings of gender? or just being trans? it some times feels like when i cast a wider net or just look out of accounts I'm familiar with, i suddenly don't exist? and not to be dramatic but that over some time it's beginning to isolate me from my trans identity.
LIKE I'll leave accounts i feel comfortable and seen in and just a little taste of what ill see is;
hurtful generalization that can only be true if your white/perisex/abled/nt.
Critic of a demographic of trans people YOU fit into that would only apply if you were white/perisex/abled/nt.
Angry post that make it clear that op only manages to talk to white/perisex/nt people.
trans meme; hope your white/perisex/abled/nt.

"Oh well Black trans wome-!!!!") ["Boy i sure hope this isn't tokenization!!!!"] [*clicks Through to profile*] [*op proceeds never mentions a black trans person again*][*cat looking at camera from green text meme**tokenizing*]
and i bring up intersex and disabled ppl but I only have to deal with being a Black trans person, and not to give the game away(of what this ask really is) i guess but like thats SOOOO worrying, it implies either that 1) there are not enough POC/intersex/disabled/neurodivergent trans ppl to meaningfully incorporate into the theory/jokes/positivity or 2) The greater online trans community does not think their perspective is meaningful in the first place.
(and then to actually give the game away) This IS lowkey a Whine post, but also i enjoy your blog 1) anything you wanna add? and 2) the posts on trans ppl you interact with make me feel seen not only in marginalizations that affect me but also those that affect people i have made community with.
p.s. this is long srry, i woke up downed the last of some radioactively blue drink than sat down to write this ask
I feel you! It sucks so fucking hard I think when like... you're intellectually aware that a lot of these perspectives - perspectives that just are the norm and the reality for so many people - just aren't taken into account by a lot of "mainstream" accounts, and that that's largely to do with whiteness as a culture (as in: a desire to sublimate and dominate any outsider culture or minority, either rendering it a commodity or rendering it invisible) and white supremacy, and all of the other bigotries that fold into that white-centric and anglo-centric view.
I don't know that I have a huge number of recs in terms of individual accounts - obviously I love @thewarmvoid, Salem always brings so much nuance and consideration to everything Salem does, whilst at the same time fucking battling off constant lynch mobs and bullshit; I don't know if fae're on Tumblr, but Anonsee Maytrix has a lot of class analyses and posts on Twitter and BlueSky; @spacelazarwolf posts a lot of different Jewish trans perspectives, and obviously I'm speaking from my own perspective of Jewish transmasculinity, but I find that a lot of different Jewish understandings of transness and gender stand out to me as critiquing a lot of the status quo around gender and sex; Idris at @bijoumikhawal is a long-time mutual of mine and they always not just have the best fucking analysis and takes of faer own but also curate such interesting and in-depth analysis from different perspectives and bloggers, from a huge variety of cultures and perspectives, especially from Egypt and other North African countries and regions; @xoxoviva posts a lot of great stuff, especially like, good meta on different shows and comics; @mamapluto posts and brings in a lot of Native American and different indigenous perspectives that I always love and appreciate seeing on my dash.
I unfortunately have a terrible memory for usernames and names, so whenever people ask me for recs like this I have a few people off the top of my head, and then I'm basically just left linking the people who are most recently in my notifs where I go, "oh, yeah, this person rocks", but I think that's because over time I've followed such a huge variety of people and I really enjoy connecting with different people and seeing such wildly different perspectives on one thing or other, whether that's in the analysis they post themselves, or just the people and communities they follow and are connected with, and what they then share on their own blogs.
I hope there are a few recs in here that suit what you're looking for and bring a bit more joy onto your timeline and a sense of being seen and reflected, Anon!

PLEASE can i have some danny fun facts. or danpher. i love ur oc
GWAA ty it rly means a lot to meeeee
-hes filipino-canadian
-17 so a year older than topher
-stealth trans guy + unlabeled sexuality bc he thinks hes too cool for labels. mayyybe kindaaa prefers women? but sometimes hes like ough. men..
-hes less grumpy and more flat out angry. not that he inherently has a negative outlook on the world, just that its veryyy easy to get under his skin and he has very passionate/explosive reactions. ive said this before but if u were to draw a cartoonishly simplified version of him, he wouldnt look bored or apathetic, he would have angry sharp teeth and flames around him. THATS the vibe
-and when hes not angry ?? he just wants to have fun. he does whatever impulsive and stupid thing he wants for the sake of having fun no matter how short-sighted it may be.
-emphasis on HIMSELF having fun. if it hurts others, so be it. he doesnt care abt what others think. this makes him a weirdo at best and unfuckingbearable at worst. while he likes praise and attention and thinks rather highly himself, he wouldnt change himself for others. if anything, he would be stupid enough to think they LIKE his "brutal honesty" and stuff
-he likes giving out long insults/roasts frequently. it gives him more flair when im writing him lmao. hes so. creative.. ?
-he becomes attracted to, or i suppose undeniably attracted to, topher when he becomes disillusioned with chris. not because danny hates chris (he does! but still) but bc tophers weird passive-aggressive to openly hostile semi-criminal (pickpocketing, identity theft, etc) self is soooo <333 danny is infatuated
-(he would never admit that out loud though. he doesnt like to say nice things)
-lead singer and bassist of an amateur rock/alt/metal band. his band consists of like 3 other ppl and theyre all each others exes. not in a polycule way just in a very very messy way thats funny to me

big ol tl;dr for anyone looking:
if ppl "not appreciating" female characters by creating content for them bc they don't want to bothers you that much? there's only one thing you can and should do:
MAKE YOUR OWN CONTENT OR APPRECIATION POSTS OR WHATEVER IT IS YOU THINK PEOPLE SHOULD DO INSTEAD AND STOP DEMANDING PEOPLE CHANGE THEIRS. IF YOUR FANDOM SPACE IS LACKING IN CONTENT YOU WANNA SEE? MAKE IT. DO IT. NOTHING'S STOPPING YOU EXCEPT YOURSELF.
but if you don't wanna do that and you don't wanna pay someone to, then stop complaining.
(note re: the discourse thing/me wanting to "start discourse": i only reblogged onto my "discourse" sideblog bc i didn't want this on my main blog. not bc i think it's automatically discourse. political stuff just goes over here now so i can keep the things more separated for my own sake)
op of the post blocked me but im genuinely baffled at this response
because how in the fuck did you gather ANY of that from me saying this
brother all i did was define what the word means. like i am so baffled as to how you decided that i was implying op was transphobic or some shit bc i absolutely was not!
nor was i trying to start discourse. i was literally just saying that, in my experience in the circles i'm in and the people i've seen, doing both is possible and they often do both. i'm not a huge fan of cis genderbends myself in any direction because if i'm gonna genderbend they're gonna be trans given that i am also trans
and then theres this that i said
which everyone seems to have completely ignored. bc that's the crux of this. it's not that they dislike the canon women it's that they want to take their blorbos they love the most and girl them because that's how fandom works. it's about self indulgence. fandom is supposed to be you doing what you love the most, and engaging with the characters you love the most, bc it's about fun
why are yall trying to force people to post abt characters they may not care for for a number of reasons? bc thats what this feels like. it feels like you want ppl to talk abt, post abt, write abt, draw abt, etc, characters they are not super passionate for, simply bc you believe they should, bc you think what they do in fandom is some kind of formula for their like, actual real world beliefs
i genuinely cannot stress enough to you guys that most peoples actions in fandom are almost entirely divorced from any political meaning. or at least, they were, until people started acting like that was a sin actually and that if you liked this character or if you liked too many male characters and not enough female ones that means youre secretly a misogynist who just hates women so much because you don't post about them all the time
most of my fandom blorboposting ends up being about a handful of any random assortment of characters because that's who my brain latches on to, but that doesn't say shit about my feelings about any other character. specifically in bsd, i mostly post and talk about literally two of the characters WAY more than the others bc they are my favorites. this includes ALL the other characters, just about. most of my fanworks are for them and will continue to be for them because they are my OTP and my top two in this series.
why is this important?
because someone genderbending a male character or multiple of them in order to see a CHARACTER THEY ALREADY THINK ABOUT 24/7 AND LIKE A LOT AND HAVE A DEEP ATTACHMENT TO, as a woman, does not mean they don't love and appreciate the canon women. holy shit. that's what i was criticizing in the original post.
also like. most of the ppl doing the genderbending i see are either women or like, somehow woman-aligned, or wlw/attracted to women in some way, etc. and most of them are making these genderbends bc theyre attracted to the canon character. it's self-indulgence it's ALMOST ALWAYS self-indulgence guys it's FANDOM that's what it's FOR you CANNOT FORCE SOMEONE TO CARE ABOUT A CHARACTER FOR ANY REASON AND STILL MAKE AN ETHICAL ARGUMENT OUT OF IT JFC
it wasn't meant to be discourse on my end either. i was trying to offer an alternate reason or perspective of approaching what op seemed to think was an issue given the wording of the post, by offering my personal experience. i also never said op was wrong, by the way, my expression of disbelief was also put alongside me going "maybe it's just the people i follow" because i tend to follow people who, when they do genderbends, are also avid fans of the canon women too, they just like the men they're genderbending more. hence why they're doing that.
this expectation within fandom that people must create content of female characters - or ANY characters - lest they be accused of despising them or not appreciating them is going to be the death of fandom and i'm so fucking serious. you CANNOT insist people spend their time making shit for FREE that they aren't 100% jazzed and excited about in FANDOM SPACES and then get mad when they don't do that and expect fandom to be something that continues for generations as it has in the past
and for the record seeing as how op reblogged with this which. where do i even start lmao. ik they've written me off as a woman-hating misogynist so i'm not expecting good faith arguments in response from them but, c'est la vie

quick intro post
Hi I'm Neifion! I'm genderless and please refer to me with they/them pronouns. I am an adult and I live in Aotearoa 🌋🦆🐑 This is my alterhuman blog!!!
🧚♀️ I am a Fairy Otherkin, especially forest fairy with shapeshifting powers! Alongside this I practice a personalised form of Fairy Faith, influenced by the work of Brian Froud and personal experience. So partially psychological and partially spiritual otherkin origin.
As a shapeshifter I find I also get shifts for other forms I like to take, so I may make posts with kins that are not listed here. They aren't true kins but if they pop up often enough (like my nightfury shifts) I may call them that for sake of simplicity and tagging.
🐇 Also a Rabbit Therian, pure psychological therian, mostly due to imprinting! I am a white rabbit (not albino), unknown breed. I seem to flip back and forth between wild and domesticated.
I take quite a lax approach when it comes to labels and terms, similar to my gender and sexuality (both unlabeled). So I may use terms interchangeably.
Also both my Therian and Otherkin identities were only realised as an adult, I only "awoke" this past year! So I am very new to a lot of this, but I'm here to share my experiences none the less! And make new nonhuman friends!
I also use this blog for general fairy, forest-ey aesthetic stuff hehe
no DNI i just block if ur vibes are wack.
this blog is intended for mature audiences as i sometimes talk about adult topics etc. Users 16 and up preferably. Will block if ur too young and i catch you XD
this blog supports trans folk, all queer folk, bipoc rights, indigenous rights, palestinian freedom and bodily autonomy.
I'd prefer if you avoid using tone tags with me. but if you have to, please spell them out in full. I am autistic, i get why ppl like them i'm just not a fan. (I find them a bit infantilizing) nbd if you forget/didnt see this tho.
my adults only mythkin discord server:
ok i think thats it, see u around~

So like. As amazing at the tma has been about fat acceptance and love and has been absolutely vital to a lot of my self acceptance as a fat trans man, because this fandom actually talks about fat people (as opposed to other fandoms where fat characters and hcs are nonexistent), it means it’s also exposed me to the most and worst fatphobia of any fandom. I genuinely don’t even gaf about the actual discourse discussed in this fandom, it’s generally the people who negatively react to discourse of ppl complaining about fatphobia. The initial problems are usually ignorable to me, but it ends up bringing up peoples voices that make it incredibly clear what their true thoughts about fat ppl are. Idrk why I thought I should share this with you, ig just seeing if you have similar experiences.
I struggle here because i don't like to feel like i am attacking other artists. i'm a hater and i love to complain but i know i have my own short comings. but when it comes to the fatphobia in this fandom im always left not knowing how to talk about things because people will come to me and tell me why my complaint about someone thinning out a fat character is wrong or bad.
do keep in mind i dont really engage with the tma fandom as much i feel very much on the outskirts so this is jsut what i feel like i see on my end and i'm sure theres way more going on i simply dont know
in recent months we have had a newer influx of artists in the fandom who have come in with their own interpretations of the characters which is all fine and good. its jarring sometimes when we become so used to these formless characters looking a certain way that when new people enter the fandom with different ideas it feels wrong and like an attack.
the biggest issue has been people drawing a thinner martin. and while of course everyones welcome to their own interpretation and martin expressing that he's not exactly the smallest guy has multiple ways to be interpreted it is extremely frustrating to see people take that as giving him the most bare minimum extra weight. especially when having a fat character as desirable and as a love interest and such a Fun character is so far and few between
i could go on and on about how each time a popular artist posts a thin martin it gives everyone who looks up to them the excuse to do the same and it's why it's become such a prevalent thing lately. i don't think popular artists should have to worry about being good role models or anything in a fandom i think if youre making art you should do it for fun but it sucks to see when someone becomes so influential and are creating a problem. i deleted like three paragraphs on this alone so i'm going to move on.
i think what i see in the fandom most in regards to fatphobia is a skill issue. people don't know how to draw fat characters. but it also feels like people are barely trying. the artist i have in mind who i would consider to draw skinny martins DOES add a bit of roundness to him. i can aknowledge theyre doing SOMETHING. but you can't come to me and tell me that i can't criticize their art because culturally that's fat to them... like sure it could be. but it's also definitely a limitation of their art style and ability and instead of defending them and patting them on the back for doing good enough shouldnt we encourage people to grow and improve? what an amazing asset to be able to draw people of all size and variety. thats an AMAZING abillity to have in youre tool belt. i wish i had more resources for drawing bodyfat but unfortunately i do not. i have learned from looking at people and luckily having a lot of large loved ones in my life i've learned from as well as you know.. my own body to learn from. and learning to draw bodyfat and drawing characters i love with it has done wonders for my body dysmorphia.
i went on a rambling tangent and idk how coherent all of that is but the end point is that fatphobia sucks it has no place in this or any fandom and we need to practice our skills instead of erasing something that has made this fandom so wonderful to me.
here's some resources
