ok so I might be drawing parallels where there are none but I'm rewatching c1 because of tlovm so.

when they're in the Feywild looking for Fenthras they find a hag's house in a giant tree that has a bit of a glow to it (in ep 62 Uninviting Waters). Pike and Scanlan go investigate on Vex's broom, and they roll shit, so we don't get much, but I'm thinking it might be Nana's house?

the episode transcript for the description is this :

MATT Okay. You don't pick up a lot of detail, but as you come up over the top, looking on the inside, it looks to be rather comfortable, surprisingly. It's a small home. There's a table, and there's a small hearth. There appears to be what looks to be a shelf of some kind, ramshackle, maybe, but still functional, with books pressed into it. You can see a number of small baskets hanging from the ceiling, containing various roots and other pieces of plant matter that are gathered and bundled together. You can see there is a fireplace by the hearth. There is also a series of drying animal carcasses hung in the corner that are all stripped, and they're being aired out in that space. You also see what looks to be a large chair that is facing the hearth, slightly away from you, and a small end table next to it that contains a little teacup and a little tea set.

TALIESIN What size person is the chair for?

MATT Actually, the chair is pretty large. It's tall. The tea set is small. And as you're making a look, you see one large crooked hand reach out from behind the chair with impossibly long fingers with hooked nails reach over. You can see what looks like dried wrappings hanging from parts of its wrist and elbow as it reaches over and wraps its gnarled fingers around this tiny teacup and pull it back behind the chair.

so I'm thinking either the hag/Morri just has a small tea set, or it's for a young Fearne or even for her second mouth on her stomach.

also the description loosely fits the one Matt gives of Nana's house in C3E45

MATT There, you're greeted by a low-lit, cozy entryway, a flat expanse at the base of where the split is. You can see it's decorated in knitted dolls, placed on little naturally warped tables. You can see animal skeletons that have been posed in dancing positions with each other that are placed up on little shelves and along the sides of the entryway. You can see alien-looking potted plants that seem to be taking root on their side of the room and guarding it fiercely. More of the staircases and rope bridges you can see begin to splinter off from here and lead higher and higher up through the tree.

The wide shoulders are thin. They come out like pointed, skeletal shoulders, the sleeves extending these long, thin arms. You see, around the top of the dress from where these shoulders are, they're obscured by a bunch of dark linen and chiffon that creates a mantle around it.

The tree's description isn't quite the same, but that part of the Feywild was weird(er than usual) because of Saundor, so it could have changed a lot between Vox Machina and Fearne bringing Bell's Hells to visit.

MATT You see the tree, while it is thicker, it is not as high as the other trees. In fact, where there would be a top of a tree, it looks to be instead a tangled mass of branches that have been matted over and tied down to the top of where this tree ends.

MATT You step within the tree, and you can see the actual trunk of this structure, and you can see the actual trunk of this structure. This is probably the largest tree you've seen aside from the Sun Tree. It's comparable in its thickness. You can tell, about 30 feet up, it splits into two separate trunks that then wrap around each other in a corkscrew upward.

Now, none of those are 100% like the others, and I'm very likely reaching, but! I think it would be funny because it would make Nana Morri Artagan's ex :)

I feel like I don't have much to say about this episode, mostly because I'm writing this nearly a full day after having watched the episode.

Seeing Liam roleplay a PC with very positive family relationships and just the gentle nature of a son visiting his home for the first time in a while was delightful.

Matt having Chetney be the maker of several of Orym's toys is a pure treat! I ain't buying the father theory (I doubt any one is with any level of seriousness) but it's leading to above-table fun :)

Why is it that I've been so much more invested in descriptions of locations when they are NOT on Marquet??? Maybe it's just because we really haven't BEEN many places on Marquet, we've had Jrusar and Yios which are cities, then the forest and place they went for the museum heist, and then Max Max place. For a campaign set here, a lot of aspects of it don't take place there, especially now that it looks like a chunk of time will likely be spent on Ruidus. I'd really appreciate more actual journeying through Marquet and seeing the landscape, though with fast travel now active, who knows.

NEW LAUDNA ART IS SO GOOD i love it so much!

What I don't love? Laudna basically being fully reverted to acting fine. After the kiss from last episode, it seemed that a lot of her behaviors suddenly reverted then as well. I'm HOPING that it's more of a case of her compartmentalizing again, but I really enjoyed the Laudna we had in Issylra and at the beginning of last episode. Her placidity is not necessary enthralling characterization to watch.

Then again, I'm being a tad harsh, as this episode really did end up being the Orym episode in terms of roleplay. Pretty much ALL the other PCs took a back seat in Zephra, which is understandable if a bit disappointing. And then we didn't have much RP in the wasteland/forest/however the hell you describe the lands, as it was stealthing and looking for tracks and then combat. I'll hold off full judgement until another episode or two has passed.

I am so excited to see the new Orym and Ashton art I CAN'T. So far, Laudna, FCG, Deanna, and Fearne's new art have been my favorites.

VERY cool combat with VERY clutch spells from Fearne.

OH AND LIAM MADE A MANEUVER THAT'S FUCKING AWESOME. I was always, ALWAYS stoked when he designed new spells for Caleb, or even just flavored them such as his Cat's Claw for Bigby's Hand. So if he keeps making maneuvers??? I am SOLD.

Still would love a guideline of how the fuck Ashton's subclass works. I get Taliesin wanting to surprise people, but I'd still like to have an idea of it, more than just confusing descriptions in combat.

30 flowers filling a third of the bag is way less that I had thought would be needed, that gives me hope of this being resolved in next episode, likely with more Zephra RP and then heading back to Marquet.

I'm a little selfishly disappointed they didn't tell Keyleth about Vax screaming. It makes sense, but look. Sometimes I just like angst for angst, okay?

A very VERY enjoyable episode.  It’s been a while since we’ve had one where there’s so much conversation and RP and it’s a breath of fresh air.

I’m a bit disappointed in Matt for not having the leylines as a projection in the background.  I would have LOVED seeing that get slowly stronger each long rest - or even just only being able to see it once it was ‘full’.   But speaking of leylines, props to Matt for acknowledging the fact that Chetney HAS seen this, two or three times.  I know he didn’t plan for it, his descriptions were very much the ‘this is the most magical thing you will ever see in your life’, but he kept true to the fact that Chet is old as balls.

Good choices all around for the Sendings.  Big fan of Ira being brought back into play, because I feel like he’s definitely going to fuck shit up for the party in one way or another.  He’s powerful, but he’s very much on his own side and I like the dynamic that’s bringing in.

Honestly I am LOVING the dynamic that Laura is playing here with Imogen and her mother.  Imogen knows realistically that her mother is on the wrong side, but there is the emotional desperation to have Mother Know Best and Be Loving and Be Right, so Imogen rationalizes based off of her emotions and craving for connection.  Consistently she has described her mother as needing help the past few episodes, where to the audience it seemed pretty clear that Lilianna was where she wanted to be.  I wouldn’t mind seeing Imogen turn during the battle, not the Dark Imogen like I keep seeing around, but just a daughter desperately wanting to believe in her mother.

I suppose I really should finish EXU Kymal - was this stuff with Opal foreshadowed in it?  I only saw the first half of the first episode and then never got around to actually finishing it.  EXU was not particularly to my tastes (much like how I struggle with some of the one-shots, it was just so CHAOTIC that I couldn’t.  Orym held the only braincell.)

Sam’s faced when FCG flipped the coin for the Changebringer’s alignment!  Laughed so hard I cried and had to go back to actually see the expressions.

I don’t know what I took away from the Ashton and Laudna conversation, except that I’m glad they had it, and I hope they have more.  I don’t think it changed the way I viewed either character, but it has the opening to.

Fearne & Orym!!!!!  Look, I don’t care how small the moments are.  Liam and Ashley have been my desperately wanting scenes of them together, whether Caleb and Yasha, Vax and Pike, or now C3.  I EAT ALL THESE CRUMBS.  BEST FRIENDS FOREVER.

Also a fan of the mini shopping session we got.  I enjoy the shopping sessions as long as they don’t take a whole episode, and they definitely got some good loot.  A 19 con necklace??  DAMN good.  Hope the gold gets shuffled ‘round in the party though.   It’s hard for me to compare how dnd-poor they are compared to the Mighty Nein.  I’m sure critrolestats has the actual gold amount.  I just feel like the Nein was more poor, accurate or not XD

As much as a short combat would have been fun, I’m actually quite pleased that we just got a few storms and a very short encounter ending with a goldfish.  I have a sneaking suspicion that Matt’s random encounter chart was kinder than usual, more designed for poor rolls to delay rather than destroy.

I’m....not a fan of the message bloom.  I actually went and rewatched the moment where Orym got the seed, and it was this quiet serious moment and he was told “you are an Ashari, are you not?  Make it grow.”  and then it’s just a longer one way one time sending?  Pretty big of a let down, tbh.  (though I, much like Orym/Liam, completely forgot about it.)

Keyleth coming in.  How do I feel about this.....  it’s really hard to say!  I think I’m more okay with it because they didn’t ask her for it.  They gave her a status update, but also very easily accepted when she said she was busy - and I don’t see the party changing their minds and trying to push harder, in or out of character.  Keyleth coming to join was very much a Matt decision here, which is why even though I’m a bit iffy about it, I’m more willing to accept.  I’m HOPING that it’s more that she’s fighting Just Off Stage Left the entire time, dealing with The Army That The Bells Hells Would Have Snuck Around Anyway, or something like that.  Have a show of power, have it work for the story, but not actually have it change how the narrative would have gone, if that makes sense.

EDIT: how could i have forgotten to mention the Imogen/Laudna scene???  Shockingly, I’m still not shipping it?  Even with the declarations of I love you, it still feels non-romantic to me.  I’ve seen people say ‘who says I love you to friends?’  um, me.  I have told friends that I am not interested in romantically in the slightest that I love them, and they have said it back to me.  ‘who cuddles with their friends?’ early 20s? me again.  also, fearne and orym cuddle every night.  BUT, I will say that if we get more conversations like this, I can see myself getting more comfortable with the ship.

Very happy that the solstice is going to be likely the next episode (maaaybe one or two more if we have heavy combat/sneaking/etc), because I am so ready for what Matt has in store.   ....though if they do stop it, that’s going to be a hell of a lack of payoff.  I have a strong suspicion (as I think basically everyone watching does) that the Keys are going to work no matter what the Hells do.  On to episode 50!!  (omg are we like halfway through the campaign?  it still feels like it might be a shorter one to me, I can see it only lasting 100 episodes)

Sorry for no reaction last week, these things happen.

I love the multiple instances of reactions of the Hells that are so clearly different than the Nein.  While the Nein as a party always felt heavily neutral that slowly shifted to good, a lot of the Hells already feel like they’re in good (though I’m genuinely wondering if Chetney might actually be in the evil spectrum, but we won’t see it against the party because they’re people he cares for?  Imma keep my eye on his NPC interactions!).

...whaaaat is going on with the dusstras being tortured and having it’s kids killed???? Is this just a case of environmental ‘humanoids don’t care about animals when taking resources for themselves’, a specific case of ‘bad guy using area where the creature is from for it’s own purposes’ or even more specific ‘bad guy actively hurting the creature for reasons’.  OR, is it just a random flavor moment that Matt chucked in that will never be dealt with again? XD

I feel a bit bad for Taliesin that no one followed up with Ashton after their impalement after he took care of Orym yesterday/last episode, but I also am a little annoyed because c’mon dude, the group was all talking over each other.  Pull a Liam, interrupt or take a moment when they’re silence and THEN say what Ashton is doing, you’re more likely to get party reactions or interactions from it.  It was hard for me as a viewer to hear what you chose, even though you said it twice.  And you’ve been playing with this group for ages, you know that they’ll talk over shit and miss stuff all the time!

While I’m appreciating all of Chetney’s gifts to the party, I 100% think that Robbie got the best one, just in terms of complexity and appearance. XD  Like, the hand is fun, the box was sweet, the dollhouse is hysterical, but that SHIP WAS SO PRETTY AND COMPLEX.  So now we’re just waiting on Fearne, Imogen, and maybe FCG unless the feet were considered the gift but I doubt it.

Minor shade to Taliesin, but I’m glad a few of the party (and cast OOC) mentioned that he needs to SHARE things.  There’s levels of in character secrecy or hesitancy that make sense, but omg I’ve been annoyed with Tal from time to time (especially in C1) where he would be like “I have a plan” or “I’m going to do a thing” and then not TELL anyone what is was until it was actually happening.  Or in the case of C3, “oh god is it Thing?” “what’s Thing?” “I’m not gonna tell you now”.  If you’re stating it out loud, expect people to follow up, and give some fucking answers, even if you don’t tell the full story!  If you don’t want to do that, but want to make a statement, pull the shit that Liam does and have Ashton make a comment to himself when no one else can hear.

I’m really enjoying the descriptions of Bassuras, even though I’ve never seen Mad Max itself, I’ve seen plenty of pictures and gifs from original and otherwise.  Looking forwards to the exploration of the city, especially because I do miss the travelling.

I fucking love Fearne so much, I cannot even.  (I also cannot even, apparently Ashley with dark hair is all I ever wanted OMG)  I adore how she’s being so creepy at night, looking at and touching people.  I’m also very glad that FCG was woken up by this and is able to confront her about NOT COOL.

FCG being VERY protective of their markings, what the fuck is up with that?  I WANT TO KNOW NOW.  (also their pissed at birds because one shits on their head all the time.  Did Matt know this?  Is this something Sam has been planning but never told Matt so now Matt just needs to decide how he wants to deal with this?  IS THE BIRD THE BBEG THE ENTIRE TIME???)

ERIKA ERIKA ERIKA!!!!  Okay, 1) I don’t actually think I’ve seen any of the one shots she’s in so I’m looking forwards to seeing her play, 2) I’m very interested to see how long she ends up staying as a guest, getting a vague idea of how guests will be going forwards, 3) ...I’m actually kinda slightly disappointed because I do love just the cast on their own, but I’m keeping my opinions open, and 4) I wonder if the temporary break was maybe to accommodate her schedule?

You know, as much fun as Sam’s gas cans are, I prefer the flask?  Because the flask (for the most part) wasn’t disruptive.  But the gas can is FREQUENTLY disruptive, and this one is BAD.
