#darktalks#well i fucking got what i wanted. huh. that sure was a modular armor system#overall i liked it a bunch! kassandra is very fun as a character#i liked the mystery of the cult and i really enjoyed the friendship dynamic with barnabas and herodotos. coupla pals goin on a ship#Speaking of! i liked the adrestia. i liked sailing around and i liked ship battles#i think it's because it's scaled back in comparison to Those Other 3 in terms of weaponry and addons and what have you#so it didn't feel like if i was falling behind if i wasn't dedicating ALL of my resources to the ship all the time idk#the maps id say were right on the border of excessively bighuge but i liked how varied the scenery was#not just between greece and the dlc2 areas but between different regions of greece#and the mythical beast/monster encounters were a nice level of challenging that broke up the monotony of fighting other humans#more on the story i like how personal they've made the plots of orig and odys. it really gets you feeling for the protags right away#it's something that also happened with ezio and connor for example. but syndicate and black flag (especially black flag) are kinda lol lmao#even still in AC2 the motive was ''hunting assassins'' not ''hunting YOU specifically'' so to some degree it was still impersonal#it was cool seeing darius in action but dlc1 parts 1 and 2 felt a bit more eh to me#i think it was just because fast travel in makedonia and achaia was a bit of a pain#dlc2-1 also felt a bit overlong because of how many factions you're helping. 2-2 by comparison is super short (but sweet).#2-3 made me want to kill aita all over again. i have mixed feelings on the isu  Aletheia can hang#this is not the games' fault of course but after Hades (game) seeing all these ''gods'' just look like taller humans is a bit of a flop#(let's not get on how much of an idiot they made hermes of all people)#the further rpgfication of equipment and abilities felt like a chore. what the fuck do you mean ''+17% assassin damage''. be serious.#from what ive heard that's something very much still present in valhalla BUT ALSO there's a stamina bar?????? wherefore dost thou do this.#i will say i missed having an animus database. which was also missing in origins? like ik there's the discovery tour but it's Not the same.#i liked the RW segments well enough. something something blonde woman and protagonist with isu artifact smth smth two nickels#kind of a flop moment to not finish off the literal Biggest Problem for the assassins when you had the chance Layla :/#to valhalla we go

Day twenty one
After his success in Lavant with both sides, Desmond moved on to Italy, being met in Rome by the Borgia Family who welcomed him warmly. They were weary of speaking in the open since Abestrgo was in the area, which Desmond even setting foot there got him on Abestrgo's radar, yet for moment he was safe as he went about his business, working with the Templars of the 15th century and their assassin counterparts.
Connor for his part actually got along well with Ezio Auditore as they went hunting out in the little persevered wilderness of Italy near Rome. They trapped but released the prey. However snotty locals who hunted for sport, left a wounded wolf pup all alone. Connor patched the poor thing up and wound up with a loyal Roman Wolf, whom with Ezio's help named Remus.
Soon enough Desmond's work was done and he moved on.

New idea:
Something happens, Desmond time travel to the past... But...
He become something like the Eldritch! Desmond, except that:
He adopts the child versions of his ancestors (and the others protagonist).
Like he take Arno just after his father dies.
Or he just adopt them before the canon is about to start or the start of the canon (like Shay is recently survived the Lisboa).
The Eldritch God Desmond idea that technically has an ending. Sorta.
He can only leave the Gray thanks to this holes that he can crawl out of.
The holes turn out to be the shadows underneath the bed or the shadowy part of a barely opened closet.
His form takes on a grotesque turn, as if reality itself tried to create a form for something shapeless enveloping the Gray.
That’s right.
We’re turning Desmond into the boogeyman that visits children at night XD
He first visits Altaïr after the death of Umar. The chest that held Umar’s possessions was left slightly open, almost empty because Assassins have already taken some of them back. He finds Altaïr crying and missing his father. The child wasn’t even afraid of him, not at all.
He was too tired from crying but he couldn’t sleep because, when he closes his eyes, he would see the head of his father rolling in the ground.
Desmond comforts him each night after their meeting, staying by his side and letting the boy sleep on his monstrous inconceivable body.
He was there when Abbas’ father tried to take his own life and all the Brotherhood knew was that he had gone inside, calling Altaïr a monster in his grief-stricken madness.
Altaïr grows up under the care of the monster inside his father’s closet and he’s… strange. He doesn’t see the world the same way others did. He had no loyalty to the Brotherhood. He stayed because Desmond told him he had to stay.
When he saw what the treasure was, he knew immediately that Desmond would want it.
.
Ezio is different. He first saw the boogeyman when Claudia was born. He had screamed in fear and the boogeyman left.
The next time he sees the boogeyman, it was when Petruccio was born. He thought he was just dreaming and ran away to Federico’s room to hide.
The final time he sees the boogeyman, it was the night before the Auditores would be arrested. The boogeyman crept from underneath Cristina’s bed and pinned Ezio, covering his mouth before he could say anything. Cristina slept peacefully as the creature whispered to Ezio.
Ezio thought he was just dreaming.
Then he learned his father and brothers were arrested and…
The creature grabbed his hand just as he opened the chest that held his father’s Assassin robes.
He whispered the same thing once more.
“Give the evidence to House Medici. Uberto Alberti betrayed your father.”
Ezio was scared, of course.
But…
He also knew that the creature was trying to help.
So he heeded his warning and went straight to House Medici.
.
Ratonhnhaké:ton first encountered him his first night in Achilles’ home. The closet door creaked open and he slipped into Ratonhnhaké:ton’s room. A being older and more powerful than anything Ratonhnhaké:ton had ever seen.
But he wasn’t afraid.
There was no need to be afraid.
He knew that he had not done anything to offend the being so he greeted him in his native language.
He used a thousand voices that whispered all over the room.
He simply told Ratonhnhaké:ton to not forget to eat dinner next time and left.
He became a nightly visitor, sometimes moving out of Ratonhnhaké:ton’s room to wander the manor in one of their regular walks.
Achilles confronted Ratonhnhaké:ton one morning about his nightly visitor.
“He’s a ghost that has haunted the Brotherhood. Seeing him means he’s marked you.”
“Marked me?”
“You will do great things, Connor. Maybe you will guide the Brotherhood and lead us to greater heights. Maybe you’ll leave the Templar Order in a storm of fire and ashes. You will leave your name in the Brotherhood and one day… you will disappear from this world and will never be found.”
.
Other possible adoptions:
- Edward would start seeing him in the chest in the captain’s room in the Jackdaw.
- Arno would see him underneath the bed in the room he was given in the de la Serre mansion. He runs away from the de la Serre once Desmond learns they’re Templars and ‘whispers’ to Arno that Monsieur de la Serre may have something to do with the death of his father.
- Jacob and Evie starts seeing him after their mother died and their father left for India. Desmond has his own ‘room’ in the train where he would slip in and out of.
- If you want to include Shay, Desmond could slip out underneath his cot in Morrigan’s captain room after they left Lisbon and Shay starts seeing him as a ‘nightmare’ haunting his guilt over what happened in Lisbon.
- Bayek would start seeing him after Khemu’s death and he thinks he’s one of the old gods, reminding him to avenge his child. (maybe Khemu even talks about Desmond as a friend who helps him sleep)
- Instead of Kassandra, we can make Desmond adopt Alexios as Deimos and turn this into ‘tired dad and chaotic mass murdering gremlin’ XD)
- Basim starts seeing Desmond in the shadows of Alamut and tries to ignore him, thinking that a spirit haunting this place would not ‘talk’ to him if he pretends that he can’t see him. Jokes on him, Desmond is there because he can ‘see’ the Isu sleeping inside Basim.
- Eivor sees Desmond her first night in Ravensthorpe and assumes he’s a spirit of the land so she treats him with respect.

Jacob: whoa! Halloween stuff is out! [runs over to a container filled with animal/mascot heads/masks]
Altaïr: [sighs] really Jacob?
Ezio: it's not that big of a deal--oh look, there's some stuff on sale.
Connor: [quietly looks through Halloween decorations]
Desmond: i think we could use some new decorations, both inside and outside--
Arno: JACOB FRYE!
Jacob: [is wearing one of the animal/mascot heads/masks and turns to look at Arno] what?
Ezio: disgusting.
Desmond: gross.
Altaïr: [sighs and pinches bridge of nose]
Connor: why?
Arno: GET THAT OFF YOUR HEAD BEFORE YOU GET LICE AGAIN!
random people: [turn and look, giving a judging stare]
Jacob: ....FINE. [awkwardly takes it off throwing it into the container of heads/masks and walks away]
this literally happened at Walmart the other day when I was there, it was a little girl, her dad, mom and brother. I pictured the boys immediately. not gonna lie to y'all, I stared, laughed and had to walk away quickly. and I know, of COURSE it was Walmart of all places.

↠ You were by no means an assassin but quite enjoyed pretending to sneak around like one. You wondered how long would it take before your target spotted you. It wasn’t easy especially when around the mentor. In the library, the study you were awaiting his arrival with a book in your hands. Malik and Altair didn’t see you of course. It was mindless chatter between the two and you looked up with a challenge in mind. Could you climb the bookcase without them noticing? A chance you took and started to climb the bookcase, when you no longer heard any words exchanged you held your breath. Slowly you lifted your head, peeking over the bookcase to not see only Malik but Altair… “Y/N! What are you doing?” A loud startle and you fell to the ground, the bookcase falling to the other side atop a desk with a loud thud and books falling atop yourself on the other. He ran to your side with concern written all over his face. “For heavens sake I told you not to do things like that! It’s dangerous!” He stood and walked away. “No more… you are hearby prevented from entering these grounds. You will stay in the village.” You stood up quickly. “That’s not fair, I was just-“ “just what?” He turned to you, “You are like a child, constantly… playing.” That hurt more than he knew. You did as he said and knew he was right but usually it wasn’t like this, not as dangerous and stupid, no yelling but just a shake of his head. He regretted it though, the yelling. And when he visited the village furious not at your childish pranks and games but because you were doing it to another… man.

↠ When you both met up after a few errands you said nothing but embraced him. And when he started to lean down for a kiss a thought came to mind and you rudely interrupted and pushed him away. “Bella,” he said in quiet warning. You walked backwards with a mischievous smirk written on your face. “Hmm… only if you can catch me before I reach the tower.” Before he could register, you ran away swiftly from his grasp towards the ever approaching tower. Faster and faster you went before It scared you when all of a sudden he ended up tackling you resulting in a fall into a haystack, a lucky fall. “What was that?” One of the nearby guards said on alert. Ezio quickly covered your body and your mouth with his hand in an attempt to prevent any laugher from escaping. Your body shook with it though and he only gave you a playful warning to calm down before you’re both caught. “Probably just a cat, lets go.” After hearing their heavy footsteps leave, Ezio jumped out and pulled you along with him. Before a word could be spoken, even a laugh; he pulled you to a nearby wall and continued kissing you, “looks like I won,” he smiled knowing that despite the danger a moment ago he was most happy with you as it brought those days of his youth back when he cared for nothing but fun and excitement.

↠ Striding on your horses down the countryside to New York you said excitedly, “We should race.” He didn’t say anything though. “Oh come on Connor it’d be fun, besides if one of us loses we would give the winner a gift, a favor of sorts.” He only frowned at that, “If a favor is what you need Y/N, there is no need for this” “It’s no fun when there isn’t a reward though, and this endless traveling becomes dreadfully boring at times.” You sighed, how much longer of this silence? Connor may be intune to it but I am unfortunately not. He sighed, “Very well, but let’s avoid the roads, the redcoats I mean.” You nodded with a smile. “Then let’s stop, set our marker and start with a countdown.” At first it always confused him as to why you wanted to race, challenged him in fact. But simply it was who you were and what brought joy to both your lives.

↠ You had a love of games but when he didn’t appear for minutes on end you decided to find him yourself. Walking around the corner you spotted him with a few of his teammates. A ghostly smile graced your lips when you went around, yelled his name and jumped on him the moment he turned around, resulting in the both of you to fall to the ground with a groan. Hands on either side of him you lifted your body up into a sitting position atop him. “It’s no fun when I’m the one looking for you, it’s supposed to be the other way around,” you pouted. “Sorry,” a sorrowful smile graced his lips before he flipped you over giving a soft peck on the lips. You both quickly realized you weren’t alone when someone coughed. “Get a room you two.” Arno laughed, got up and gave you a hand as you ignored the others “Whatever, Arno for going past the time limit… you owe me.” “And what exactly is this debt I owe?” “Glad you asked, I want to play chess; with those delicious pastries from the café. Then end our evening with those over the top romance novels of yours.” He chuckled and shook his head. “Whatever you say Cherie I’d gladly play.” Saying his farewells he took your impatient hand in his and walked you to the café. ‘So childish’ he thought, but then again he didn’t mind. He enjoyed and basked in your excitement and joy.

sometimes I think about Desmond with the Bleeding Effect being less of him thinking he's Ezio or Connor or Altair and more that his emotions and connections to their lives are just so powerful he can't really move past them. especially after Clay helps him with his Synch Nexus. he mostly knows who he is, where he is, when he is, but he still feels that he lived decades upon decades as Altair or Ezio. He still fell in love with Sofia and Maria, was still friends with Malik and Yusuf, was still a father to four children. the kids are the really hard part. Ezio died when his children were young, but Desmond remembers cradling them and their little hands wrapping around his finger. he still carries trauma like Sef's death and seeing Ezio's family hanged.
more than anything, even though he logically knows who he is, he doesn't feel like Desmond at all. he knows he can't respond if he hears a voice calling for Ezio, but the name still feels like his own, like he could put that person back on if he wanted to. Ezio and Connor and Altair are parts of this current person, this person who isn't quite any one person and now contains multitudes well beyond his years. of course he feels like a pawn in ac3, he goes from running whole brotherhoods and being a respected elder to being a twenty-five-year-old treated like a kid and hidden away from the world. the Bleeding Effect less like a delusional disorder and more like a fundamental change in his being, a connection to people and cultures he carries with him but can never revisit. he is a hundred and twenty-five years old in his own head. when Juno tries to trick him into something, he turns around and reminds her that he has played these games with her before, and she calls him Altair like it's a curse word

you know, i always find it really funny when dudebros complain about syndicate and odyssey being too "jokey" or not "taking its characters seriously" or whatever…
like, did y'all collectively sleep through "it's-a me, mario!", "i meant besides vaginas", ezio inventing the latte, bartolomeo's... just... *gestures vaguely* entire character, etc?
like, it's fine to have preferences of course, i myself prefer a more serious and grounded tone, but these are usually the same people who tout the ezio trilogy as "peak assassin's creed", call ac1 a glorified tech demo and hate on connor for being "too serious and boring", like? make it make sense!
#asscreed#ac syndicate#ac odyssey#dont get me wrong#i do have problems with syndicate and even more so with odyssey#but it's not the tone lol#honestly i think kassandra is the protagonist that's the most similar to ezio if you really think about it#but bc she's a woman she's suddenly 'overpowered' and 'unrealistic'#yall don't remember the insane things that ezio survives in revelations do you#speaking of which#been replaying the ezio games lately#and i have something to confess...... i really don't think ac2 is good#ac brotherhood was a BIG improvement#in terms of story pacing for one (none of those insane unmotivated time jumps... well aside from the strange montage at the end)#and the characters are a lot more fleshed out (probably bc there aren't like 20 of them)#and the handling of female characters is MUCH less egregious#maybe bc there's only really claudia and caterina left LOL#lucrezia is a little annoying i guess... but she gets a pass bc she's cesare's sister and really they're the same kind of crazy lol#and hey we actually get to see how dangerous sex work can be and how it's not just a way for sexy nuns to give inner peace to men#even cristina gets fleshed out!#and i like that we get so see ezio being a little bit of a selfish prick in her missions#and making bad decisions in interpersonal relationships#at least i THINK that's what we're supposed to take away from it... but who knows maybe it's just supposed to be a tragic love story...#i hope not.... i hope the player IS supposed to think that ezio's treatment of her is bad. otherwise.... :/#sorry for rambling#guess im just kinda surprised by how much i enjoyed brotherhood#it had been a long time since i last played it#also the modern day is really good!#that you can talk so much to everyone and also being able to read their emails and the mundane banter... idk i just think its neat :)

365 May 3-6
After a point Desmond just came to the understanding that his life was weird and he really didn't feel like arguing with it anymore. Coming back from the dead? Near death? Limbo? Whatever did that to a person. He was so beyond his life throwing arguably impossible shit at him.
"I'm home," he said looking at the living room of his apartment that absolutely should not fit as many people in it as it did. And yet.
The first week it'd happened he was sure he was having a new mental break down. But no. That'd have been a reasonable explanation for a bunch of murderers showing up at his door looking like people out of a ren fair. He didn't know why they were there. They didn't know why they were there. When Desmond asked they just grabbed his blackened hand or arm. They were drawn to it. Somehow? For some reason?
Seven languages all roughly saying, "Welcome back," came in a chorus. They could all understand him at least. Whatever fucked up magic or whatever had given him that at least so he didn't have to sift through seven different tongues in his head to pull out the one he wanted.
"I brought bread," he said which got everyone interested. He didn't anticipate people from previous centuries to be picky eaters but they absolutely were. And that didn't even cover Ezio's insanely high standards for olive oil, which he basically drank. But everyone ate bread. Thank god. He always had to go down a few blocks for an actual bakery because of course they wouldn't eat store bread. The bakery knew him on sight now since he'd been going there every other day for a month and bought the exact same arrangement of bread. When they saw him coming in they just packed up his order for him.
"Everyone get their shit done while I was gone?" he asked amid some talking. Some of them could communicate but it was a near thing. Some of them even spoke English, which was cool.
"It was boring, but yes," Ezio said.
"Good. Who wants to make dinner?" Desmond asked, going into the kitchen and taking the bread out.
"Everyone stop looking at me," Evie said. "Just because I'm a woman."
Desmond didn't engage while Jacob was defending his sister's honor, or whatever. After a bit of bickering he called out, "Fine then we're all going to be unhappy and Altair will cook." There was some groaning.
"Fools," Altair said and Desmond was the only one who understood. He got up from where he was sitting on the floor and entered the little kitchen with Desmond. "My cooking isn't that bad... now," he added. Altair, like the rest of them, were not how Desmond remembered them from the memories as mostly wild and blood thirsty twenty-somethings. They were all older. In their thirties or forties. It was still weird seeing Altair in a beard. At least he wore it better than Ezio.
"Yeah you don't burn my pans now," Desmond said. Desmond still helped him figure out what to do. They all knew how to use the appliances by now but other than Connor, Bayek, and Evie none of them had ever had to cook for themselves until they'd shown up in Desmond's life. But like good Assassins they all took to instruction quickly and Desmond just had to tell them what to do and they figured it out.
"How much longer are we staying here?" Arno had come around to the kitchen while Altair was cutting onions with freakish laser precision. Desmond wasn't sure Altair couldn't understand French but he always acted like he couldn't so he didn't push it.
"I dunno. Until you guys fucking leave?" Desmond said. Who knew when that would be. Who knew why that would be or how!
Arno gave him an annoyed look. "I know that. But this is unsustainable," he motioned to the living room which had all the furniture shoved into the corners to make enough room for everyone to sleep. Desmond's bedroom also had some sleeping space on the floor. "Even at our lowest this is too much."
"Well if I want to break my lease I need to pay a fee. And then I have to find a new place that I can afford. And if you guys all fucking vanish one day I'm going to be in a big place all by myself unable to pay. I don't mind having roommates from former head mates but actual normal people? I'd rather die."
"That can be arranged," Altair said behind him.
"Shut it, you," Desmond frowned at him but Altair wasn't even looking at him.
Arno was also frowning. "Well perhaps it would be more useful if we put our minds to figuring out what happened to bring us here instead of what you have us doing."
"If you want to go ahead but I can't afford to feed someone who isn't helping," Desmond said, folding his arms. Because magic that they could all understand his spoken English they could also understand written English. Desmond had found all of them some reasonable paying translation gig work. Desmond knew they all hated it but also had no idea what to do in this century, let alone how to cross a street without almost being run over by a car.
Arno also folded his arms and mirroring Desmond. "I am not a stranger to hardship. But I'm tired of waking up with someone's feet in my face. Also Jacob snores; loudly," he put a pained look on his face.
Desmond grimaced. He could sympathize. Before he could keep going with Jacob Altair tugged his sleeve. He turned around. "Is this right?" and it was still so baffling hearing a hard ass like Altair ask him something so kindly.
Desmond looked over the chopped vegetables Altair had in the pan. He'd added raisins. Always with the fucking raisins with Altair. "Looks fine. Don't cook it too long or it'll turn to mush." He turned back to Jacob. "Look I'm not unsympathetic. I just don't know what to do myself," he said.
"Can we help you? Clearly we're supposed to be here? So we should help you."
Desmond sighed, "I would love that but none of you know how to use a computer."
"... A what?"
"Exactly."
"Is that the little glass tablet you carry around with you?" Arno asked.
"Yes."
Arno looked conflicted. "It seems... confusing but I'm willing to figure it out if it gets me into an actual bed."
"Fine," Desmond said and already knew it was going to give him a headache. "This weekend when I'm free."
Arno smiled. "Great," and he walked off.
Desmond sighed dramatically. "Punk," Altair grumbled, or about as close an approximation as Desmond could translate out.
"I knew you could speak French," and Desmond punched his arm.
"My wife is French, of course I can," Altair said with a grunt. "His accent is so snooty. I hate it."
"He's Parisian," Desmond said.
"No wonder he sounds like a prick," Altair grumbled and Desmond laughed.
--------
Having seven people crowding your space while trying to use your laptop was... something. It sure was something. Somehow they all managed to perch around him without getting in each other's way too and were all staring intently at the screen. Desmond had been talking to them, very slowly, for about three hours now explaining how a computer worked. He typically had all their translation work printed out and then on his days off typed it all into the programs or emails for the clients.
Surprisingly the one who seemed to understand it the best were the two old guys Altair and Bayek. Bayek was especially insane because he was from before the common era. Like the numbers ticked down on the grand time line of human civilization from where Bayek was from. Desmond wasn't particularly surprised by Altair who'd had his head in the future through the Apple for decades. That didn't mean either of them were good at it but they asked the least questions when he asked if they understood.
"I think that's about as much as I can just explain. You have to try it now. Who wants a go?" Desmond asked. He expected Arno to immediately volunteer. Hadn't he been the one excited to help him find a new apartment?
"I do," Bayek said.
"Weren't they still playing with sticks and rocks in your time?" Jacob asked, not knowing what Bayek was saying but getting the idea. Evie smacked his arm, hard, making him complain.
"Sit," Bayek sat. "It's light, hold onto the keyboard area so it doesn't fall off your lap," Desmond said and put the laptop on Bayek's crossed legs. There was a moment of confusion as Bayek figured out how to use the touch pad but then he got it. "I'm surprised you're at all good with this," Desmond said casually.
His answer absolutely floored Desmond. "This is nothing compared to the Isu ruins." Desmond hadn't personally lived through Bayek but he'd been told the story. Bayek was really good at telling stories. "That is actual confusing shit."
"What'd he say?" Ezio asked.
"He said it's nothing compared to Those Who Came Before," he said. "Didn't know Egypt had that sort of tech involvement with the Isu," he said thoughtfully.
"Ask him if it's as easy as it appeared when you did it," Arno said.
Desmond did and relayed it back while Bayek was clicking around on the computer and internet. "He said it's like reading a scroll where the words and pictures move with your thoughts."
"How poetic," Arno said.
"I also wanna try," Evie said.
"Yes, and I," Ezio said.
"Give him a few minutes," Desmond said.
"The keyboard is... confusing. I know what these letters mean but their arrangement is-- quite stupid," Bayek said.
"Yeah, basically," Desmond agreed.
"It also hurts my eyes."
"Yeap. It'll do that too," and he took the laptop back. Then Evie got to mess around with it while Bayek rubbed his eyes. He hadn't blinked the entire time. Then it was Ezio's turn once she'd had a go at it.
"Is there a way to see these mmm- webbed sites in Italian?" Ezio asked.
"Sort of? Just type into the text box in Italian. It should pull up Italian sites."
Watching Ezio pick and poke through what he wanted to ask Google was excruciating. "Ha! Italian," and he scrolled through the search results. Desmond leaned over to see what he was looking at.
"Hey!" Desmond snatched the laptop away. He switched into Italian himself to scold him and god he sounded a lot like Claudia by the way Ezio wilted. "Don't look up boobs on my fucking laptop. Of course I leave you alone for a minute and you're trying to see some tits. What are you? Seventeen again?"
He was going to have to put child locks or something on this thing so these Assassins didn't give his laptop a fucking virus looking up porn. "What can I say. I'm a man of simple pleasures?" Ezio said with a wry grin.
"Banned," Desmond pointed at him in annoyance.
He let everyone try out the laptop. No one was as taken with it as Bayek and Connor somehow almost broke it. Arno at least came away from the lesson and hands on part being slightly confidant in using it. Everyone also complained it hurt their eyes. Because none of them blinked while using the laptop. Blue light was hell of a thing.
They dispersed after that. Bayek, who still sat next to him, said, "Can you show me more things?"
"Sure? Like what?"
"I want to know what happened to Egypt," he said. "And the Romans. And the Greeks. Are they still around?"
"Well Ezio is what you could call Roman," Desmond said slowly. "He lived in Rome, the city, for a while."
"Is Rome no longer an empire?"
Desmond chuckled, "Buddy, they wish."
"... I would like to see what made Rome fall," he said, not in a sad way but rather he was very interested. "And what happened to Julius," his eyes narrowed.
"You're going to love what happened to Cesare," Desmond said and pulled up some wikipedia articles. He showed Bayek how to navigate the site, what the colors meant, what the little numbers next to words meant, and the sources at the bottom. After that Bayek was glued to it. "And make sure you blink," Desmond added. Bayek nodded.
Desmond got off the couch and wandered into his room, flopping down onto his bed. That had taken so long. He picked up his phone and looked at it. It was only mid afternoon. He had a few missed texts. It looked like they were from work. He ignored them. He wasn't paid enough to answer texts on his day off.
----
Desmond was used to being watched at this point even if he couldn't see them. Didn't bother him. This time when he looked across the Goodwill it was Jacob staring right at him looking like he was dying while Evie was trying to find some clothes. Seemed that even after a few hundred years brothers still would rather die than shop with their sisters. He chuckled to himself and went back to ignoring him.
Desmond was more concerned with convincing Bayek and Connor that no they couldn't just walk around shirtless or tank tops all the time.
"But it will get in the way of my movement," Bayek said about the long sleeved shirt Desmond was trying to get him in. It was summer so was pretty warm and Bayek had never existed in any sort of cold weather in his life. His logic was sound for Egypt.
"Yeah but you can't enter most stores without a shirt, dude," Desmond said. Connor was more accepting of full shirts having grown up around Westerners but Desmond remembered being in his head. He always felt too big for in his clothes. Especially Achilles' old uniform that he'd nearly ripped several times from just how thick his arms were.
"But it's hot out. We don't need sleeves until later in the year," Connor said.
"What'd he say?" Bayek asked and Desmond repeated it. Honestly a lot of the time he was just repeating what everyone said so any two of them could hold a conversation. "Why would the time of year matter?"
"Winter?"
"... What is that?"
Desmond pinched the bridge of his nose. "Think like the flood season but instead it gets cold."
"It would get cold in Egypt sometimes," Bayek said.
"No like water turns into ice," Desmond explained.
"But it's not like that now? And there's so much clothes here surely I won't want for them," Bayek said. Everyone had been pretty stunned when Desmond had brought them to Goodwill and it was just filled with more clothes than any of them had seen in one place.
"In winter cold weather clothes tend to go quick," Desmond said.
"Hmm-
"Desmond," he looked over at Evie's voice as she came through the aisle. Jacob was sulking a ways away.
"Sup."
"My brother is useless as ever. I need input on these modern clothes," she said.
"Sure."
Evie showed him two shirts. They looked pretty nice and were fairly subdued, which he expected. One was a feathery blouse, the other was a thin sweater. They complimented her skin color. Desmond didn't know a lot about fashion but he'd seen enough women come into a bar to know what was good. "Which one?"
"I like them both," Desmond said.
"That is not helpful," she said.
Desmond reached over and grabbed the tags. They were both five bucks each. "Do you like them?"
"Yes."
"Then you can get both-
"What?" she asked, confused. "But these are so fancy and high quality," she said. Desmond knew the Industrial Revolution had been going on during Evie's time but fast fashion was a hell of a thing.
"It's fine, they're just a few dollars-
"That's expensive! Are you sure?" she asked.
He chuckled. "Yeah. If you like them we can get them. Make sure you find some bottoms you like too to match."
"Are you really sure?" she asked.
"Yes. And tell your brother to stop looking like a creep and pick out some clothes too," Desmond said.
She rolled her eyes. "He knows no other way. But yes, thank you," she held the clothes to her and walked off.
"Those are expensive though, are you sure?" Connor asked. He understood modern money better than Bayek who was ignoring them and looking at clothes.
"It's about the equivalent of fifteen cents," Desmond said, knowing Connor would understand that.
"Oh! Really?"
"Yeah. Inflation is hell of a thing-- don't worry about it, it's economics," he told Connor who just looked so confused.
"I think I like this one," Bayek said and Desmond sighed when he pulled out the most Dad shirt he could have found. It was a tie die tank top. "Finally something brightly colored. This time is so drab," he scoffed. The worst part was Desmond knew he'd absolutely wear it.
"Okay," Desmond said, defeated. Then he groaned at the sound of some very angry Arabic a few rows over. "Now what?" he looked and saw Ezio harassing Altair about... something? "Excuse me. Before Altair kills his biggest fan boy," Desmond said. "Find a shirt that fits you, Connor," he told Connor and went over to where Altair very nearly had his hands on Ezio's neck.
Desmond easily slotted himself between the two of them. "What's this about?" he asked.
"Ezio says I dress like a woman," Altair pointed at Ezio furiously.
"... What? Also how do you know what he's saying?"
"He's just speaking a different version of Latin," Altair said. "That isn't the point!"
Desmond turned to Ezio. "Did you say he's dressing like a girl?"
"I said he'd look like a fancy lady with his dress," Ezio said and yeah Desmond got why Altair was about to kill him.
"Take like twenty steps back while I defuse this bomb you made," Desmond told Ezio.
"I resent that," Altair growled at him.
Ezio did step back and Desmond turned around to him. "So what did he get you about?" Altair raised a shapeless dress that was very much a dress but it was also shaped like a thobe which was traditionally exactly what an old guy like Altair would wear. "Looks like a thobe to me," Desmond said, realizing what Altair was going for.
"Yes. That's what I tried to tell him."
"But it's a dress too."
"So?"
"Look I don't care," Desmond raised his hands before Altair bit his head off. "You'll get looks if you wear that though and I know you hate being perceived." Altair grimaced at that. "If you want a thobe I'll order you one or find one at a Middle East bodega or something but you should just find some pants and a shirt." Altair huffed in annoyance. "Yeah I know, you hate rules. Get over it," Desmond rolled his eyes.
"I am more annoyed you know me better than myself at times," Altair grumbled, arms folded. "Same as the rest."
"Trust me I really wish I didn't. Either way, we can still get it if you want but I would suggest pants."
"Fine," Altair huffed.
"Connor, Connor," he heard Bayek calling from the end of the aisle. At the least that was something they could do. Desmond watched Connor join Bayek down the aisle and Bayek triumphantly held up an old sleeveless Laker's jersey. Desmond snickered imagining Connor's face of horror at the yellow and purple monstrosity. Connor for his part waved his hands like he didn't want it.
An hour or so later Desmond was finally in line for check out with the others. Evie had taken what he'd said to heart and found a bunch of stuff but everyone else was still too stunned by the variety to pick more than three or four pieces. The cashier was pleasant and had clearly seen weirder shit than a guy like Desmond shepherding a bunch of adults forward to have their clothes rung up and then put into individual bags. The total wasn't even that bad for buying clothes for seven people. The more modern Assassins still gasped or gagged at the price but Desmond didn't flinch at the hundred and seventy dollar price tag.
"That had to be wrong," Connor said once they were leaving.
"What was?" Desmond asked.
"The price-
"You said not to worry. That was a fortune!" Evie cried.
"It was like five dollars," Desmond said.
"That's not what the cash register said," Evie insisted.
"It's the equivalent of five dollars," Desmond rolled his eyes.
"Seriously?" Jacob asked.
"Yes. Seriously."
"That's still a lot of money," Arno said.
"For seven people buying clothes that is a steal. I've seen people buy a single shirt for five dollars," and he chuckled when Evie, Jacob, Arno, and Connor looked appropriately disgusted. Bayek, Ezio, and Altair just looked confused.
"Are these dollars worth a lot?" Ezio asked as they walked down the sidewalk.
"I do not have the brain power to convert to florins," Desmond groaned. "Or dinars or deben across like a thousand plus years okay?" he asked. "Like a shilling?"
"Ah," Ezio nodded.
"If you aren't worried about it neither am I," Bayek said.
"Sounds like a bunch of poor people to me," Altair said, specifically in Latin.
"I would agree," Ezio said absently. Desmond slapped his hand over his face.
"I wasn't poor. That's still a lot," Arno said in something recognizing Latin. Both Ezio and Altair laughed at him. "What?"
"Your accent," Desmond said.
"What of it?"
"Sounds like he's talking without moving his lips," Ezio chuckled. "Open your mouth when you speak," he said loudly. "Or speak with your hands. I can understand you better if you do," and he did indeed wave one hand while talking.
"Can we not do this?" Desmond groaned as they got to the parking lot. He'd rented an actual van for the day just to avoid public transport. He'd gotten them all on a bus or subway individually as they'd appeared but he didn't want to have to watch all of them at once on a subway. He knew somehow, someway, someone would get lost and he didn't want to hunt down an Assassin in a big city. Especially not these guys who could be... a bit stab happy if you bothered them too much. Well except Connor.
They all loaded into the van and Desmond reached into the center console to grab the single dose of pain killers he'd made sure to bring with him. Because he knew and had been right; by the end of this shopping trip he could feel the start of a headache. "Okay everyone buckled in?" Desmond turned around once he'd taken the pain killer. There was still some confusion about buckles for Bayek but Jacob had gotten it for him. They all gave him a thumbs up to cut down on the cacophony. "Great. Who wants lunch?" More thumbs up. "How about McDonalds?"
"What's that?" Jacob asked.
Desmond chuckled. "You'll see," he said and backed the car out of the parking spot and drove off from Goodwill.
-----------------
Desmond was looking over rental listings drinking his morning coffee in bed. Altair and Bayek were both on a blow up mattress on the floor. He'd bought a few over the past month but there was still only so much room. It was going to be so expensive to move. Thankfully now that everyone could operate the laptop or tablet now they could input their own gig work so could do more so long as they weren't blinded by boredom. A single bedroom apartment wasn't enough for eight full grown adults.
There wasn't much reasonable in the city itself but outside the city he could rent a full house. That was doable. And about as expensive as his current apartment actually. He scrolled listings on his phone but did consider just picking a neighborhood outside of the city and calling a realtor to find him a rental house. He didn't even care what it was.
He knew it was light out because Bayek woke up. He was punctual and even with the curtains over the windows Bayek always woke up at dawn. He sat up blearily. "Coffee?" it was the one English word he could say because the word didn't exist in any language he knew. It wouldn't have been invented for another sixteen hundred years for him. Didn't mean he hadn't immediately become addicted just like everyone else.
"Full pot in the kitchen," Desmond said, sipping his mug.
Bayek got off the inflatable gingerly and left the room. Desmond didn't have the heart to tell him no matter how careful he was about it Altair always woke up after he left. On the bed Altair huffed, awake now as well. "You could just go back to sleep," Desmond said.
"No," Altair said softly and that tracked. He sat up. "Do you ever worry?"
"I grew up in the twenty first century, my entire body is just made out of anxiety," Desmond said.
Altair grimaced. "I mean why we're here?"
"Nope."
"Really?"
"Nope."
"Why not?"
"After the shit I've seen this isn't even the worst of it," Desmond said, sipping his coffee, barely paying attention to Altair.
"How is that possible?"
Desmond looked at him now. "I died, you know," he said casually, like discussing the weather. The only indication that had actually happened was his left arm was fucked up beyond belief. "And coming back from death? Nothing really bothers you," he shrugged. "Certainly not some old head mates."
"Which you won't tell us what that means," Altair said.
Desmond shrugged. "Better that way."
"So you really don't care? Why we're here? Where we came from?"
"Not even a little," Desmond was done looking at rentals. He'd just call a realtor, get them to find him a three bed two and a half bath with a yard. He switched over to Twitter. Perfect turn your brain off activity.
They sat in the dark quiet of Desmond's room for a bit. "What's it like, being dead?" Altair asked after a few minutes. Desmond didn't answer him. "Desmond?" he looked over because Altair's voice was close. He had moved to be next to Desmond's bed.
"You should know what death is like, you've killed more people than me," Desmond said off handedly.
"I've sent people to the afterlife. I've never been to one. The others have grand Catholic ideas. Bayek said he fought gods in his afterlife. But you've died. What's that like?"
"Nothing," was all Desmond said.
"It was nothing?"
"Sure. We'll go with that."
Altair scowled at him. "You're being annoyingly obtuse, young man," he growled.
Desmond looked right at him. "Don't with me," he said in a serious way. It must have been plain on his face because Altair didn't press the subject.
Light spilled in from the living room when Bayek opened the door but it was Ezio behind him who spoke up, "Desmond, Jacob drank all the coffee and there's no more left."
"I made a pot. How'd he drink an entire pot?" Desmond groaned. "Also I know you idiots know how to use the coffee machine."
"No powder," Bayek said in his Dad tie dye tank top.
Desmond sighed. "Okay I'll go to the store," he got out of bed and rummaged around for some pants. Ezio and Bayek left the doorway. "Jacob," he yelled into the main room, "you're coming with me for drinking all the coffee."
"I didn't do shit!" Jacob yelled back.
"You better be dressed when I get out there or I'm dragging your ass to the corner store in your skivies!" and it was a real threat. Desmond changed his shirt and his dead beat dad would have been so proud of him tucking his long sleeved shirt in all the time now. He didn't like it rising up when he lifted his arm, you could see the death damage on his flank too, horrible thick black veins and old burst capillaries. He also always wore a glove now.
Jacob was fuming standing in the living room when Desmond came out of the bedroom but he was fully dressed. The inflatable mattresses had been put away already and the only person with coffee was Bayek since he'd woken up first. "I didn't even drink it all," Jacob complained. "Ezio just says whatever he wants and you believe it."
"Contrary to what he thinks its because the guy can't lie to save his life. Least of all to me," Desmond said. "Now stop complaining," he pulled on his shoes.
When he opened the door to walk out he almost bumped into someone. It was a woman. She was tall for a woman with ash brown hair and old eyes wearing an insanely sharp pant suit. "Veronica?" Jacob said next to him.
"Jacob?" she said with an accent Desmond couldn't place.
"Holy shit what are you doing here?" Jacob asked.
The woman, Veronica?, looked at Desmond, then at Jacob, "That's my question." She looked over Desmond's shoulder then back at Desmond, her eyes wide in an expression just from the way she held herself Desmond took as she wasn't surprised easily. "What are they doing here?"
"Uh... they're my friends?" Desmond said, confused by the line of questioning also who the fuck was this lady? For a moment he thought she was like the others but there was no befuddlement to her, no wide eyed bewilderment. They'd all appeared looking out of time and place. She was not. She was something else.
"Who's at the door?" Ezio came around. "Ah? Maria?" he asked.
"You also recognize her?" Desmond asked.
"That's Veronica," Jacob said. Now the others were coming around.
Desmond looked at the woman who was looking right back. "You also shouldn't be here," she said and it stuck him right in the chest.
"Well that's rude," Evie said. "Don't be mean to our friend, Veronica."
"Do you all recognize this lady?" Desmond asked the Assassins and stepped back into his apartment. He felt better being surrounded by them. Whoever or whatever she was wouldn't be able to fight off seven Master Assassins.
"Of course."
"She was our friend."
"She helped me."
"She knew my father."
"She helped me complete my mission."
They all said almost at once. What the actual fuck? He'd never seen this lady in any of the memories he had but apparently they all knew her. She was a friend. They all knew her by a different name though. "What are you doing here, Melite?" Altair was the only one asking a serious question.
The woman just sort of smiled apologetically. "My name is Kassandra actually," she said. Then she looked at Desmond. "I think we need to talk."
---------
And… that’s it lol Oops sorry If you want to see other scenes maybe suggest some? We should talk about it

I keep thinking about that post about Altair Ezio and Connor watching Desmond after they died/my ghost ancestor au that I was kicking around for a while and I can’t get over how much all of them would think his life after leaving the Farm was the dream.
Like yeah he’s still on the run but he’s also enjoying himself and not actively fighting for his life at every turn. He gets to laugh and drink and eat whatever he wants without his father hanging over his shoulder like some malevolent cloud. If they had been with him his whole life think about the difference they would see. Think about the first time they heard Desmond laugh (too sharp and too loud land too cut off where he snapped his jaw shut because the sound startled him). Think about them watching him get drunk for the first time and laughing so hard beer comes out his nose and all of his coworkers who dragged him out are slapping him on the back. Think about them watching him dance around his shitty apartment in his boxers and socks to some 90’s pop hit that he heard for the first time working at the bar and can’t flat out of his head. Think about them watching him, of course, getting railed while Ezio cheers him on. Think about them watching the absolute joy in his face when he boys his motorcycle.
Think about them watching as he’s kidnapped by the very Templars he had been warned about while they are helpless to stop it

in honor of it being ramadan, could you please write how the assassins (altair, ezio, connor, arno, and jacob) would react to their fem love interest being muslim? ❤️
Tumblr media Tumblr media
☾ ⋆ ゚𝐌𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓 / 𝐑𝐔𝐋𝐄𝐒 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒: of course! sorry this is so late but now at least it's in time for Eid al-Adha being on the way! <3 as always, I'll just say that I'm not muslim myself so I'm always open to constructive criticism when it comes to writing about cultures and practices other than my own. A big thank you to @gojohater101 for giving me some pointers on things :) 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒: altaïr, ezio, connor, arno, jacob 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒: none
Tumblr media
。・:*˚:✧。altaïr ibn la'ahad
♡ if you withhold from things such as drinking, gambling, swearing, etc. it honestly inspires Altaïr to follow your example and be more diligent in his practices too! He really admires you and the way you go about following your faith.
♡ a part of me feels like Altaïr lives the sort of life where he is a man of faith but he's very busy so it's not often at the forefront of his mind. But he's seen you making wudu and dua and it's really made him dedicate more time to his faith too and he's found that he's feeling much happier in following the example that you set for him, even without meaning to. He just loves you so much and admires so many things about you, he truly believes you bring out the best in him.
。・:*˚:✧。ezio auditore
♡ Firenze is quite a multicultural city and he's well-travelled so Ezio won't ever judge you. He'll ask you about your practices quite a bit but it's only ever out of curiosity and so that he makes sure he doesn't ever disrespect you by accident.
♡ one of Ezio's ways of showing love is gift-giving so he'll make sure to find places that specialise in pretty and modest clothing so that he can still spoil you all while respecting your way of dressing and your comfort. He also loves cooking for you so he finds substitutes for where he might use alcohol while cooking so that it still tastes good but he's able to make a version without alcohol for you. He doesn't make a very big deal out of it though and just ends up eating the same alcohol-free food as you, it's a silent little way of him loving and respecting you.
。・:*˚:✧。ratonhnhaké:ton | connor kenway
♡ he's very intrigued to hear all about your beliefs and practices as well as sharing his with you! He was the one that repaired and renovated the manor so I can 100% see him setting up a prayer room for you. He wants you to have the space that you need and he consults you about it to make sure that everything is in order. He'll try fasting with you if that's something you do! He'll get up before sunrise with you to cook and eat and he'll join you in fasting during daylight too.
♡ running the homestead means that he's a pretty busy guy but he admires the way that you take time out of your day for religious practices and it makes him realise he should probably take a page out of your book and slow down every once in a while too so that he can partake in his own practices as well. He'll always provide you with whatever you need, you mean the world to him and he wants you to be well physically, mentally and spiritually.
。・:*˚:✧。arno dorian
♡ like Connor, he also renovates the place a little to make sure you have a prayer room because he wants you to know that he respects you and he'll always make room for you in his life - emotionally and physically. Also like Ezio, he'll find some substitute flavour for alcohol when cooking so that he can respect your beliefs. He even arranges for a new line of the café's sweets that don't include alcohol so that you have a full pick of the menu when the two of you spend time watching performances over treats and coffee together.
♡ Arno is absolutely a fashionista and I won't be convinced otherwise. He gets into learning about modest fashion so that he can still treat you with new clothes the way he thinks any man should do for his lady. Considering the time period, I'd say that a lot of his sources come from places like Morocco so he's likely bought you a kaftan or a few considering how the french ladies were rather fascinated with this fashion at the time.
。・:*˚:✧。jacob frye
♡ like with Ezio, Jacob's city had opened up to become a very multicultural place so he doesn't really bat an eye at you having a different faith to him. (I honestly headcanon that Jacob was likely baptised under the anglican church but he's not really a big believer, he focuses more on this life than the next). He does ask you questions out of curiosity though and because he wants to make sure he won't say something disrespectful out of a lack of understanding.
♡ he's watches you pray a few times just out of a simple fascination and curiosity. He once interrupted you making wudu because he didn't know what you were doing but he was quick to apologise and let you continue without interruption once you explained to him - he ended up buying you some flowers to say sorry because he felt really bad for having interrupted something that he knows is so important to you.
Tumblr media
p.s. again, I'm very open to any sort of constructive criticism! I want my followers to feel represented in my work. You all have a place on my blog, no matter what your background is 🩵

Of course we got to have the OG protags (Altaïr, ezio, and Connor)
Maybe one side with their hoods on and the other side without their hoods??? IDK I don't know, I'm just giving out little ideas!
Tumblr media
AUGH i'd love to so badly, but for the sketches i'm planning, they'll still be hooded on both sides due to how charms are produced: they're basically a specific shape that the art on both sides have to conform to within the silhouette, so what i have in mind are different expressions.
things like altaïr being arrogant vs more locked in hostile to go in for the kill, ezio being happily carefree vs despondently fighting, connor being focused on the hunt vs kind with warmth in his smile, those are ideas that i have in mind like desmond i've already finished!

Has anyone ever had a ask where desmond was reincarnated as connor's kid?
Here’s one where Desmond sorta kinda becomes Ratonhnhaké:ton’s adopted son (together with ideas for Altaïr and Ezio)
For this one, Desmond isn’t adopted and is reborn as one of Ratonhnhaké:ton’s three children and his only son.
It would be fun to make him the youngest so he has two older sister who dotes on him because he was born a bit late, like five and three years younger than her two sisters.
He tries to follow Ratonhnhaké:ton around but he usually gets dragged by her sisters to play. He doesn’t mind since playing meant going to the woods near the homestead and getting used to his new child body.
He would have nightmares as a child and would wake up to hear his mother singing him a lullaby as she held him close.
And that was the most painful thing of all.
Being given such love without any expectations at all.
Ratonhnhaké:ton was just as bad. He
Ratonhnhaké:ton sometimes leaves for missions and he knows Desmond as his most curious son who has tried (multiple times) to smuggle himself into joining Ratonhnhaké:ton on his missions.
Desmond always gets caught though because Ratonhnhaké:ton has honed his skills much more than Desmond could use his limited skills as a child.
Not once did Ratonhnhaké:ton scolded him, only chuckling and ruffling his head as he tells him to be a good boy while his father was gone. Ratonhnhaké:ton would come home with a gift for all of them and spend some time in the homestead, helping the community, training them, and even just going on a short hunting trip.
Desmond’s favorite was the cooking though. Ratonhnhaké:ton taught them how to cook while their mother told them stories of the many times Ratonhnhaké:ton had cooked for her. It was a chaotic event every time, with the children running around trying to help and making a mess in the process.
It was the most peaceful thing Desmond ever experienced.
His habit of following Ratonhnhaké:ton around did make Io:nhiòte consider him as something like her apprentice since she was already being trained as an Assassin. Their oldest sister only went as far as be trained of self-defense and other basic skills, wanting to remain with their mother’s tribe instead of joining the Brotherhood.
That’s how Desmond realized that Io:nhiòte will become the Miles’ ancestor.
Their mother doesn’t really mind if they want to be Assassins. She’s worried, of course, but it’s the kind of motherly worry that she would have regardless of what path they took in life.
Desmond is actually the one who suggested that he travel to England to take care of the Kenway estate, having had a correspondence with Jennifer Scott before her passing as a kind of ‘hi, I’m your grand nephew and I just wanted to check in’. He has no real hard feelings for the Kenway name but he did want Jennifer Scott to feel that she had a family.
Maybe he was being sentimental over having such a loving family this time around that supported him no matter what.
He didn’t expect anything out of it so it was a surprise when he received a letter telling him that Jennifer Scott wishes to meet with him.
Jennifer Scott was planning to make him the next head of the Kenway estate.
Desmond didn’t even know there was an ‘estate’.
The Kenways were rich???
He thought Haytham was just rich because he was a Templar.
And so Desmond travels to England, both to visit Jennifer Scott and to pay his respect to the British Brotherhood.

Imagine Altaïr, Malik, Ezio, Haytham, Shay, Connor, and Arno trying to deal with an S/O who has befriended the local crow population.
It's cute when the crows keep bringing you small trinkets, keep using you as a perch, or follow you around all the time.
What's not quite as cute is when one day you get captured and the damn crows keep breaking into the residence and SCREAMING at your poor boyfriend. He'd be finding you right away the instant he knows something's wrong and you're hurt, and the corvids are definitely more than smart enough to help.
Oh, and when you're found? Injured? Not only are you staying right with them at all times but you're being watched by five or six sets of beady eyes all the time.
Awww! This was so cute and then got angsty then cute again!
HERE ON MASTERLIST 9
altair
It’s 50/50 with him, either he’s intrigued by your bird companions or annoyed they impose on moments with you
if you were ever taken from him or missing, Altair tries not to panic but feels some relief that he can track you down when the crows lead him to you
Now he appreciates their loyalty to you and how they’ve come to accept him as well. After all, he’s glad there are those who look after you when he’s not there
malik
Thought it was a bit odd at first, but it wasn’t a bother to anyone, and at least when you visited there was additional company with the birds. As long as they didn’t make a mess of things.
if anything bad happened to you or you were taken, he’s grateful for their lingering presence to signal where you are
After an incident like that, Malik now has the habit of tying notes to their legs, saying something like “whatever impulse you have that leads to trouble, think twice about that.”
ezio
Equally annoyed but intrigued about the corvids and tries to bribe them to bring him trinkets too
in the case of you being taken or missing, every eye on the ground and in the sky is able to find you safely.
Also likes to tie notes to said crows’ legs to pass along to you. Something funny, cute like “I see you.”
haytham
Is not amused at all. He thinks they’re annoying 😝
but if you were ever kidnapped or separated from him, he’s grateful that the unlikeliest allies help find you
There was a rare moment you saw him attempt to bond with them, one successfully perching on his finger
shay
He didn’t think much of your pet birds before but they were a welcomed presence on the ship during longer voyagers
the one time you were not by his side, his fiery temper almost got the best of him before your own trackers lead him down every path to find you
From there on out, he greets them like he does any other crew member. Giving them treats sometimes
Ratonhnhake:ton
He adores your birds and thinks it’s sweet they look out
however, pity the souls who try to take you away because there’s no corner they can hide in
Of course your pet crows are just naturally drawn to his calmness, always perched on his shoulders
arno
He thought it was oddly endearing that you’ve bonded with these birds, although they happen to be a bit of a nuisance
Now if you were to ever be taken from him, it’s all hands on deck
Given the amount of loss and heartbreak he’s had in life, it’s no surprise that Arno always wants you close to him and appreciates the corvids for keeping tabs on you

Hi
Can I ask you?
What will The Boys (except Connor, because he taught Desmond Indonesian when they toured Indonesia) do when Desmond learns Indonesian?
Nuhun
(Thankyou)
(i hope i understand this correctly: how do the boys react to Desmond knowing how to speak Indonesian thanks to Connor teaching him)
Altaïr:
he is shocked at first, but after listening to Desmond speak it more and more he's impressed. he's definitely the first one to let Desmond know if he pronounced something wrong, used a word incorrectly, what a better word to describe whatever it is he's talking about, etc. in short he's the type to correct the weak spot of what ever it is, but he doesn't do it in a rude way, he more so will say something along the lines of "were you trying to say [insert Indonesian word]? you accidently mispronounced it, it's pronounced [how to say the Indonesian word properly], I only say this so you don't accidentally imply the wrong thing or sound wrong to native speakers." Desmond appreciates Altaïr's honesty and help, he never gets upset with Altaïr for it either.
Arno:
top proud of Desmond. Arno knows that Desmond has a harder time picking up on things quickly (other than Jacob, but Desmond is miles ahead of Jacob, no pun intended) and is glad to see he's learned Indonesian. not only could it be of use in the future if they have a mission in Indonesia, but it's also a flex Desmond can say he knows how to speak Indonesian. is another one that will politely help Desmond if he makes mistakes or asks for help.
Ezio:
a bit upset Desmond's Indonesian is better than his Italian. the betrayal! but he's another one that's proud of Desmond, Ezio out of all the Boys (since the Auditores took Desmond in) knows about the things he's suffered and missed out on and seeing something Desmond accomplished and is proud of makes him not only happy, but proud of Desmond in general.
Edward:
color him impressed! the young lad learned Indonesian, especially in a short amount of time? even if it's only a little bit, he's impressed Desmond has learned as much as he has. he's buying Desmond a couple rounds of drinks in celebration! also proud of Connor for taking time to teach Desmond, and proud of Connors patience of a saint for being able to handle it. wants to help Desmond with any mistakes, but knows Altaïr or Arno will help so he doesn't have to worry about it.
Jacob:
just like Edward. he's impressed by the amount Desmond's learned in a short amount of time and will buy the other couple rounds of drinks in celebration. Will definitely teach Desmond insults and swear words just to annoy Altaïr and Arno (and of course Connor) he's a little shocked Connor would take time to teach Desmond, the reason being "why does Desmond have to learn Indonesian? it's a waste of time." none the less proud of them both.
Desmond:
is this how I say it--
oh shit, sorry--
[says word incorrectly, and by saying incorrectly accidently insults someone's bloodline]
I am STRESSED CONNOR.
Connor:
send help.
you're doing great Desmond [gives thumbs up, and forced smile]
no Desmond that's not how you say it--no but you're close--Desmond, you just called that old woman...a bad word.
DESMOND PLEASE, PEOPLE ARE JUDGING US.
summed up, all are proud of Desmond in their own ways, and even more proud of Connor and his patience and ability to teach another language.
Connor, Desmond is stressed enough. please give the boys a break 🥲
