one thing that fascinates me about the high school au is ultimately it's all what rosho thinks would happen. like whatever dumb shit samaichi is ultimately revealed to be fighting about will be what rosho thinks they would fight about. i hope it's the most ludicrous thing i hope we see rosho subconsciously thinking they're complete idiots

also the fact that ichiro jiro and saburo are only each a year apart here is obvs to make them fit into the same high school but imagine if rosho just. irl didn't know how old they were actually. just a bunch of kid-aged kids to him (idk if it's funnier that rei never mentioned it or that he did and rosho forgor)

i mean of course ultimately it could all be revealed to be gentaro fic in the end (including the hypnosis) but if taken at face value. i'm just really entertained by how this whole au is potentially how rosho perceives the animals around him lmao

also one of the reasons that those particular tropes irritate me *so* much is because a diff fandom i've been part of for a while had this REALLY common thing (somewhat less common now) where the protagonist would be frequently extremely ooc, largely driven by (what i understand to be) a desire to let him be cared for

which, as i said in my tags somewhere, is totally legitimate - it just irks me when those characters are then treated as if the *only way* for them to be cared for is by making them less capable, more innocent, more childlike, more sensitive, cuter, less able to look after themselves, etc.

none of those character traits are inherently bad and you can create incredibly strong characters (by which i mean well-written and compelling) who fit the description i've just laid out. what annoys me is when a character who does not canonically fit that description has it placed on them in a way that removes their agency and makes them dependent on others
