when first entering the store he took notice of the man glaring but brushed it off thinking it was directed towards him as bruce wayne

you however didnt really pay attention to the dirty looks being thrown at you

with bruce excusing himself to the restroom and makes a promise of a quick return, you wander around the area by yourself

it was all fine until a man approaches you, giving a fast glance at him before turning away. there was definitely something up with him

“you don’t belong here”

your head shot up at his words, looking around you to make sure he was talking to you

“excuse me?” you lift an eyebrow at him, knowing what he was hinting at

“you fucking heard me, you don’t belong here. go back to your country.”

you inch away as he steps closer,”you better back the fuck away..”

he simply gives a smug face only coming closer,”or what?” you tighten your jaw when he loosely lets out a slur, your fists clenched.

“or i dislocate your arm.”bruce’s voice rings out, deep in anger as his eyes flicker to you and scanning to see if you were ok physically.

the ugly bitch’s face pales when he realizes who’s your boyfriend. without hesitation bruce yanks him away from you, slamming him to the wall

demanding for a first and last name, squeezing his neck when the guy stays quiet

shaking he gives in and tells, flinching when bruce slams him against the wall one last time before dropping him

“i guaranteed whatever poor status you do contain i’ll tear it completely, say goodbye to your job.” he grabs for your hand and brings you into him as you both walk away.

“i’m sorry i shouldn’t have left you alone, my fault,”he presses a kiss to your temple.”and please don’t think any worth of that garbage’s words.”

you shake your head,”he was just some lowlife, not worth thinking about.” you reply leaning into him.

he looked at you and could tell no matter what those words still hurt somewhat and it angered him to no end

no one deserved to hear that disgusting shit, especially not his girlfriend.

his eyes hardens but doesn’t push further to make you anymore uncomfortable than you probably already are

giving another kiss to the side of your head he makes a quiet promise to himself not to leave you alone anymore in public with disgusting people like that around

jason todd:

as soon as the slur leaves the guy’s lips jason’s fist collides to his jaw, no doubt shattering it

you and jason were grabbing lunch at some restaurant slash bar since it was the first time in a few days jason was free

everything was okay until you got up to go to the bathroom and some guy bumped into you

jason watched with hardening eyes as you apologize instead of the guy who slammed into you

“watch where the fuck you’re going at.”

you fall shock at the word, staying in place

while jason is on his feet in no time, swinging to the asshole’s face

screams were heard as well as the sound of bones breaking from his fist impact, the guy stumbling to the floor

“you racist fucking prick that’s my girlfriend you ugly fuck,”lifting him by his shirt he grabs his face and turns him to you.”apologize to her before i break your fucking face.”

he quickly rambles apologizes, crying in fear or pain. most likely a mix of both

jaaon lets him go and gives him another punch, this time to the nose. finding satisfaction at the pool of blood now seeping out

jason grabs your hand and starts to lead you outside,”let’s go eat somewhere else and forget about this shithole.”

you barely had time to give a reaction to anything as everything happened so fast

“hey look at me, don’t listen to that worthless fuck and his fucked up mindset. i dont know what to say to comfort you since i never experienced anything like this.” he stops at the car, placing his hands onto your shoulders

you nod sighing lightly, you only wanted a simple lunch with your boyfriend but instead got hate crime for simply breathing.

“it’s nothing i haven’t gone through before,”he shakes his head blue eyes filling up with rage.

“no one’s gonna be doing that anymore, or at least getting away with it while i’m around

DICK GRAYSON:

he was completely taken by surmise at the slur being thrown at you, as well as the fault of you being the root of the covid 19

but before he had any time to react you were already on your feet glaring,”the fuck you just called me you piece shit.”

before he could reply you already kneed him and punched him between the eyes, dick laughing at the cries of pain

“you want me to take over or you wanna handle it babe?”

even how badly he wanted to beat the shit out of the pos the choice was yours

you denied and wanted to handle this on your own

but everytime the guy tried to get up dick would just shake his head and tell him to stay down, or simply push him back down

eventually if you start going too far richards would pull you away and tell you hes not worth it

he understands your anger but he doesn’t want you to past a line you won’t recover from bc of some worthless grime

“c’mon, he’s not worth anymore of our time. lets go eat pizza.”

DAMIAN WAYNE:

he’ll just look at guy for a few seconds with a blank face

then he’s literally knocking them out

will probably kick him into the wall or ground

u dont know if you wanna pull him away because you already the tabloids, or if you wanna let him continue to beating the guy

damian probably wouldn’t realize how much he beat the guy to a pulp until you’re tugging him away

nudging his neck with to your nose to try and calm him down

he’ll end the fight with spitting on him tbh

your face reddens with anger when your eyes met the racist bitch, enjoying the view of his blood on the floor

unlike the others (mentioned) he also knows and experienced racism and understands your point view way more

and know bow to comfort you better tbh

afterwards he’ll talk to you and comfort you, as well as opening up about his racist encounters, as well as his mothers.

if you’re still upset about what happened some hours later he 100% offers to beat up the guy again

you laugh it off cos hes serious about doing detective work, finding the guy and beating him to a pulp

you thank him but deny his offer and settle to confiding into him and just telling him how your feelings

STEPHANIE BROWN:

“are you fucking serious right now bitch?”

steph deadpans staring at the girl who called you the slur with ease, going on about how you were the cause of corona and to go back to your country

shocked at the words, hearing all of this before but it still doesn’t fail everytime you hear them

turning to you and seeing the hurt on your face from the word, she quickly turns to seeing red

without a second thought she grabs the collar of the woman’s shirt

“you’re gonna fucking apologize to my girlfriend right now or i’m gonna slam your face into the floor and break it

you stay still, pleased at watching the girl shake in fear under steph as she chokes out a mesh of a shit rushed apologizes

stephanie throws her down to the ground after her third apologize

“are you okay?” she knew you weren’t but asking the question would lead into the stage of comforting you

you nod but go on to tell her that this isn’t the first or last time this will happen, but it still never fails to shock you

she frowns at your experiences and doesn’t quite know what to do to help since she never went thru anything like that

she offers to take you to your favorite restaurant and end the day in wayne manor watching whatever you wanted

smiling when you accept, pulling you in her and pressing a kiss on-top of your head

“dont worry i’ll beat any jackass that pulls any racist shit.”

TIM DRAKE:

i think he’ll be the less violent one out of everyone

he would honestly be so disgusted and gross out at humanity and how the woman thinks shes superior just because she’s white

if it was a guy saying what was said, then he would probably hit them ngl

but he takes the higher road with the woman, belittling and ending her with his vocabulary

and you’re pretty sure that his words hurt her more than an actual punch would

you laugh when he compares her built to a buffalo

he then goes on to a more education lean, explaining how skin tone has nothing to do with a person, and she should adapt to modern times and stop being a racist cunt

after he ends it he goes on to find out who she is and email/call her workplace to inform what kind of employee they have

probably also goes on to make sure she wont be hired anywhere else

comforts you alot and and will get you anything you want

prob gets you both milkshakes as you vent to him about today and other racist things said to you

hates how you have to go thru any of this for simply existing

the incident opens his eyes and he starts talking to bruce about opening a charity for ‘stop asian hate’

would shy away from the press and say you both came up with the fund

i got ranty here so the tldr: yeah no shit, you’re taking something i tweeted entirely out of context, i’m well aware of those facts and im not ‘pretending’ anything lmao

onto my full response:

i see you must have come from my twitter! and yeah, i’m unfortunately aware there are people who ship batcest working for dc, its super upsetting! the person who designed the current red hood outfit just posted j*ydick on their twitter today, which is horrifying to see.

like listen im not... im not gonna go out and harass people for shipping batcest. I literally do not have the energy, and I know I’m not gonna be convincing anyone of anything bc the people who chose to ship batcest have made their choice there.

but I’m always gonna advocate for like, those people TAGGING THEIR SHIT so that especially minors but also anyone else who doesn’t want to see fuckin’ incest doesn’t need to. And like, the creation of lists of what creators are making that stuff so people can block and move on? I also think that’s good. Like I don’t think people should go harass anyone over this because its just... theres no point. But letting people who don’t want to see it know who to block so they can move on? that’s a good thing.

The comments of mine I think you’re specifically talking about were about a specific but common type of fanon batcest shipper, because like... immabe real! its very clear a lot of the batfam community on here in general don’t read the comics, (like, as in many people will OPENLY ADMIT that they don’t) and thats not even an inherently bad thing, like people are allowed to interact with media how they want to! But when people get so divorced from canon by only reading fanworks or versions of characters that have been altered and their relationships altered, its easy for misconceptions about all of it to spread, and people to be shipping pairings that literally bear no resemblance to the canon versions/relations of the characters. This isn’t even exclusive to the people shipping batcest. However with the people shipping batcest like... its when those relationships in canon get blurred by just a fanon game of telephone that it becomes easier for them to justify shipping it, you know? That was the point I was trying to make on twitter (i think it was last night? this morning? i dont remember. its 1am rn time is fake)

but like, i’m sorry but in current canon Jason, Dick, Tim, and Damian all consider each other siblings (and Jason had even made a comment at one point in rhato about having four brothers, meaning he probably includes Duke too!). That is... canon. You can see multiple instances of this if you’re reading current comics. And while they have complicated relationships with Bruce, they do all consider him a father (even when Jason says he doesn’t- he literally flip flops on it depending on how he feels in a given day because of his trauma and stuff, but like there will be times only a few issues apart where he will or won’t admit Bruce is his dad). All of these characters have been adopted (or in Damian’s case obv adoption wasn’t necessary) by Bruce in canon at different times (and Cass also, but that’s only in pre new 52 as of right now)

If you are chosing to ship any of the siblings together (or any of them with bruce) you are chosing to ship incest. That is an active choice you are making, and you have to accept the consequences of that. Any judgement/backlash you face for shipping incest is something you are accepting by chosing to ship it.

And if you go “oh but they’re only adopted siblings not REAL siblings-“ you’re an asshole, because adopted siblings are real siblings. I don’t care if they didn’t grow up together, do you realize how invalidating that is towards like, real life people? The amount of people I’ve seen who are adopted themselves get insanely triggered and upset by that kind of content (not just in this fandom btw!) because it just shows people don’t see those familal bonds as being real? It’s not insignificant.

I know ‘media affects reality’ is a controvercial topic, and like obviously ‘i see this thing in media thus i will do it’ is NOT how it works, but the things you normalize/glorify in media you consume says a lot about your thoughts on the topics. Framing matters. Like obviously ‘haha i watch hannibal, gonna go eat people now-‘ is not the case. especially because that media doesn’t frame it as a good thing. That’s the thing I think people miss in these discussions a lot of the time. If you are like ‘i am going to explore how traumatizing incestual relationships could be through these characters’ with batcest? like go off! that could be interesting honestly, and that’s not glorifying it. But acting like ‘omg i just think its so romantic ❤️’ with stuff between characters who canonically are siblings... again you are accepting the judgement that may come your way by publicly doing that.

anyways, i’m well aware of how prevalent batcest is both in the comics industry and around here, i’m aware plenty of them do read comics, and you definitely missed the context in my tweets of me saying things like “a lot” “it feels like many” etc when saying batcest shippers don’t read comics. Context matters my dude ✌️ (also wanna point out, a lot of really gross people work in comics. Racist people, antisemetic people [even today there was some controversy abt that in some hulk comic i believe?] these people being in those industries is... not a good thing even if its normalized???)

But really I think its kinda funny to uh call me a ‘fool’ for something you think I’m doing because you took my words out of context. And maybe you weren’t trying to come off as smug but you absolutely do here and it just strikes me as very funny that you like... are acting like you’re smarter than me or better than me for being okay with incest being normalized in a fandom for superhero comics, a type of media that MANY KIDS READ AND PARTICIPATE IN DISCUSSION ABOUT, while I’m bothered by it.

I don’t talk about this stuff much on here because again, I don’t want to fight about it, I’m not gonna go out of my way to try to change people’s minds on any of it because I know that won’t accomplish anything, I much prefer to just... ignore the content I don’t want to see, maybe warn other people especially minors who also don’t want to see it, and move on with my life. You really didn’t need to bring this to my inbox here, but like go off I guess 🤷

He's been keeping his distance from you for a couple days now. You were confused. He'd been so affectionate last week! Cuddles and kisses and now you were sad and lonely. He rarely came to bed before you passed out and was gone before you woke up! Sighing you stood up and put your hands on your hips. Luda Mae stared at you.

"Tommy finally outta his funk?" She asked.

"No, but I hope he cheers up soon." You frown. "He's been avoiding me like the plague."

Hoyt grinned. "You think you might've done something? Maybe upset him?"

"I dont know! I dont think s-"

You feel a hand on your shoulder and you twirl around.

"Tommy! Baby! Is everything okay?"

He nods gently before glancing up at his mama and uncle. Luda Mae nods happily. He gets down on one knee and opens a box to reveal a silver band with a F/C stone ring in the middle. Your face turns bright red and start to stammer.

"T-thomas... really? A-game you you asking me to-?" Your face gets redder.

He nods nervously. His hands shaking and you burst into tears. Backing up he goes to put the ring away but you tackle him.

"Yes! I will marry you!!" You cry.

He holds onto you tightly and he wasn't gonna let you go. Luda Mae tears up as he slips the ring on your finger. He smiles and kisses your lips roughly.

MICHAEL MYERS

You wander throughout your newly bought house. It's not like you hadn't be able to before because of it being abandoned but now you had moved in with your boyfriend. He sat on the couch his eyes focused on the tv. You were imaging each room being refurbished. The kictehen with new wallpaper and redoing Michael's old room for him. There were three bedrooms and while you and Michael were intimate you had never spent the night together or had sex for that matter. Your face flushes at the thought.

"Hey Michael?" You called and he barely shifts his head towards you, his mask now off.

"What did you want to do for your room?" You asked walking over to him. "Did you wanna repaint it? We can do whatever you want."

JASON VOORHEES

Being with the gentle giant had been very easy. He himself was so shy and cute! You always seemed to leave him an embarrassed mess but he wanted to make you feel loved and cherished. He didn't want to make you uncomfortable but he wanted to make you blush from his love. Which is why hes been in the woods all day while you try to find something to do in the house. You miss your behemoth. Usually on cold days like these you dont have to worry about intruders and you get your man to yourself. Suddenly the door bursts open scaring you. You jump and turn to see Jason.

"Jason!" You run towards him and wrap your arms around his waist and snuggle into his chest.

His chest rumbles with silent laughter and he leans down to nuzzle into the top of your head. He pulls away and motions you to turn around. You do so giggling.

"What're you up to hon?" You ask as he rummages through his pocket.

You feel a cold chain wrap loosely around your neck and the clip clicks. You grab the pendant. It looks like a silver locket with pretty engravings in it. You open it up and see that on th inside has a picture of you on one side and him on the other. Your face flushes and you look up at him.

"J-jason, t-thank you so-so much!" Your face gets redder and redder.

He smiles under his mask. He knew you liked it. He also felt a little bad. He didn't wanna embarrass you.

BUBBA SAWYER

He loves making your face red. He thinks its so cute! Hes always trying to make you blush but the way he makes you blush is completely on accident. During the end of summer you were folding laundry for Drayton while he cleaned up after dinner. The twins were wrestling outside and Bubba was working downstairs. You brushed a piece of hair back from your face and leaned over to grab more clothes to fold as the sliding door slams open. Bubba's done working and he finds you sitting down working on the clothes. But hes needy and okay with a scolding from Drayton for slacking it because he wants your love. He babbles and you look up to see him.

"Hey baby!" You coo. "You want some love?"

He nods and waits for you to open your arms. As soon as you do he dives right in cuddling you. You giggle as he nuzzles into your shoulder. You feel a sudden sharp pain where his face is. You yelp in surprise and pull away. Your shoulder has a bite mark from Bubba. You feel your face get heated.

"B-bubba, you just.. m-marked me?" You asked your face getting hotter when he nods giggling.

He kisses you before Drayton chases him off. He's to happy to even think about it. Bubba thinks your red and and stammering is the cutest!

Slipping his hand into mine he grumbled about me using his own words against him and me not caring ;continued sensing death and in its depressing scent was making me understand why my Thanatos had decided to send me here.

Making it to the destination which was surprisingly not that far from the underworld I saw 3 demigods or um 2 demigods the third one ,on the floor bleeding out from a a huge gash,but not only that but the 3rd demigod was around 5-6 years old.

The other 2 demigods mourning over the fact that the little one was dying. It made sense too take him out of his misery and saddened by the fact that I needed to use my powers but at the moment I stepped up to the male demigod who looked around nico and I's age,Took out his celestial bronze sword trying to act brave and pointed it at Nico and I.\

"Who are you?" He questioned forcefully, Nico slowly took out his sword and in a firm voice said "Drop it"

"What do you want from us, are you another monster?"

"Relax were here to help" I reasoned

"Dont trust them Brandon they might be monsters" The girl who looked a year younger said

"We arent monsters relax were demigods and if you let us help the kid we'll take you to a safe place and the kid would a have a peaceful and painless death, trust us it seemed like you cared for him and if you did you'll let us help" I bargained.

"Fine but if you hurt him anymore than he is i'll kill you"Brandon threatened

After setting Jason on his way to Elysium Nico decided we should camp out in the woods for a night and head to camp tomorrow.

I sat next to Brandon and saw him poking the fire wood with a stick.

"Hi" I said trying to make conversation

"Hey" he replied with no emotion

"Look im sorry about what happened with jason he seemed like a sweet kid"

"He was and he was my brother also"

"oh I-I I didnt know im sorry I blamed your cousin on his death I-"

"It's fine I- Can I hug you?" he asked

"Sure I guess" and he embraced me after a few seconds I could feel a something wet one my shoulder and realized he was crying, I tried my best to comfort him there were so many deaths as a demigod and that just causes pain to people I honestly dont think Brandon deserved to have his little brother to die.

I'm not sure about the other girl but after 5 minutes of him crying Nico came out of the woods heading our way.

"(y/n) I need to talk to you"

"okay" I excused myself from brandon and followed nico to a tree not far from the camp we set up

"We need to leave this place as soon as possible tomorrow"

"Why?"

"Monsters there are 4 demigods out here im positive their gonna to smell our scent"

"Got it,we leave at at sunrise somewhat easy to shadow travel safe enough to fight monsters if they come at us" I replied turning to go back until he grabbed my wrist

I glanced at his hand on my wrist and back at him

"What?" I asked annoyed

"Why was brandon hugging you for so long?"

"Why do you care?"

"I dont but you have a job to protect me and I snuck out of this place like twice to get tents"

"His brother died what do you expect, besides I dont care to protect you and you didnt care either so why do you suddenly care"

"Because I know my father would punish you if you dont and as much as I dont like you I wouldnt like my dad punishing you or anybody else"

"well thats my problem not yours so bye" I said turning away again until he spun me around again

"So your gonna head back to Brandon now"he asked

"That shouldnt matter to you, you dont own me"I said about to head back once again until he pulled me back and kissed me.

"It does and I do now" he said when he pulled back

I pushed him away then I slapped him, and then pulled him by the collar and kissed him passionately.our lips moving in sync and then oxygen ruining everything because the human need of it we pulled away.

"I-uh got to go" I said

"whoa where do you think your going, you cant just shove,slap then kiss your boyfriend and leave me out here alone especially with your job and all"he said jokingly at least i hoped

"oh so im your girlfriend now, didnt know ghost kings had feelings"I smirked

Just A Friend

Request: Can you write one when your on the phone to someone and you say 'I love you' to them and the joker hears and he starts doubting everything you had and starts screaming and punching the wall. He would want to kill you but he loves you so he keeps you locked up until he finds the person you were talking to? ~~~YOUR POV~~~ *ring ring, ring ring* "hello?" I ask as I didn't read the contact name for I was busy reading a new book "hey there beautiful" I hear the voice through the phone "joooooosh, how you doing?" I ask, I haven't seen josh since high school "I'm good long time no see, huh" he says "yeah, I missed you" I tell him honestly, he was like the brother I never had, he was always there for me. "I heard about your parents, are you alright?" He asks, oh my parents right, the ones I killed, good thing I knew the police, I'm that good girl that lives down the street, hmph yeah right. "Yeah I'm okay it's been a couple months. I live with someone else now" I tell him not wanting to say who "oih where are you get back to work" I hear someone say in the background, "that's good, well I got to go, see you, bye" he says "bye, love you" I tell him and hang up. "Who was that?" I hear J say as he walks in freakishly slow "no one" I tell him, it's not like it matters, right? "How come you never tell me you love me?" He asks. I dont say anything, it's not my fault, it's not like he loves me. "I asked you a question" he yells at me "because" I tell him faintly "just because?" He asks as I stand up. When I don't answer he pushes me firmly against the wall "ouch" I whimper "are you cheating on me, did you never love me, what did we have, huh?" He screams right in my face. I flinch at his words "what, you think I'm gonna hurt you?" He yells "well your probably right" he whispers menacingly and as I'm thinking of all the things he could do to me he grabs my arm and drags me out of the room and into a room I've never entered before. He shoves me in, I land face first and when I turn around I instantly see him lock the door. ~~~THE JOKERS POV~~~ "J?" I hear her concerned voice say "Jocker!" She says sternly. She never calls me Jocker. I walk up to the door with the little window in it "yes darling" I snarl "are you going to kill me like you did Harley" she asks bittersweetly. I remember that day, seeing Harley with him, to be honest i couldn't care less but I was furious that she would think about doing anything like that to me, so I cut her off. This is different though, I do care, I love her and I would never do anything to hurt her, so why would she hurt me. I walk back into the room she was in and see a book that I've never seen before, this wasn't from my shelf 'the truth about forever' doesn't sound interesting to be honest, I look at the back wondering if it's more interesting than it seems. 'That's what Macy has to look forward to while her boyfriend, Jason, is away at Brain Camp. Days will be spent at a boring job in the library, evenings will be filled with vocabulary drills for the SATs, and spare time will be passed with her mother, the two of them sharing a silent grief at the traumatic loss of Macy's father.But sometimes, unexpected things can happen—things such as the catering job at Wish, with its fun-loving, chaotic crew. Or her sister's project of renovating the neglected beach house, awakening long-buried memories. Things such as meeting Wes, a boy with a past, a taste for Truth-telling, and an amazing artistic talent, the kind of boy who could turn any girl's world upside down. As Macy ventures out of her shell, she begins to question her sheltered life'. I ask but instead of answering he pushes me forward. "Josh?" I ask as I see him there. What does Joker have planned "hey beautiful, why did you ask to meet me?" He asks "I never asked to-ohhhh" I say realising what's going on. "Hahahahha, you put 2 and 2 together, good job sweet cheeks hahah" Joker laughs as he walks out of the shadows "joker?" Josh asks "what's going on y/n?" He asks again "I-I don't know" I tell him honestly. " how about I tell you what's goin on Joshy boy, you see my girlfriend here was on the phone to another man, do you know how that makes me feel? And then to make it even worse, she says I love you" joker says in a fake calm voice "Sh-she's your girlfriend?" He asks "yep, bet ya didn't know that, did ya ahahahah" he laughs again. "J why are we here?" I ask him getting sick of his stupid game. "For this" he states with an angry type voice as he brings out his gun and aims it right at Josh "don't you dare do that" I yell at him as I run in front of Josh "your not gonna stop me are ya, you've always wanted me to kill the bad guys hahah" he laughs again "Josh is not a bad guy" I say as I walk up to him and push the arm holding the gun down. I quickly bend his arm backwards making him drop the gun as I kick it towards Josh. He's such an idiot "pick up the stupid gun" I yell at him "oh" he quickly says as he bends down and points it at J. I run towards Josh taking the gun off him still having it pointed at Joker "come on J I don't want to do this" I say as I push Josh away making him run out of the alleyway and off somewhere away from J. "And you won't, he's gone now" he says sighing as he sits on the curb. I go to sit with him, not as comfort though. "Why are you doing this?" I ask him "because y/n, I'm jealous, your my girlfriend not his and you say I love you to him but not me, how does that work?" He yells at me "because you can't feel love and I can" I yell "if I say I love you your just going to hurt my heart, I know it" I say sadly now "this is why I never say I love you" I tell him honestly "y/n, I might not fell love the way you do, but I do love you, in my fucked up way, it might not be the love you want and it's definitely not the love you deserve, but I'm giving you all of my love" he says looking down at the pavement. "I love you" I tell him "I love you too"

Stopa Auction League: Navigating 14 teams, Superflex format

Tom Brady takes on extra value in a two-quarterback league (AP)

The Stopa Law Firm is a different kind of fantasy football expert league.

It’s a big-money league (thanks to Mark Stopa, benefactor) and it’s a league about jumbo starting spots (super flex — which strongly encourages two starting quarterbacks — two tight ends, another flex spot) and limited bench space. A modified PPR scoring format is used.

And oh yeah, it’s an auction. And it’s a party that goes down in Las Vegas in mid-July. We can’t post all the photos here, someone would get divorced or arrested.

The challenge is steeper this year, with noted experts Scott Jenstad and Vlad Sedler jumping in, bringing us to 14 teams. We also welcomed back Michael Salfino after a one-year absence.

I asked the league members to comment about their strategy, the auction, or anything they wanted. Here’s what they had to say. Your full auction results are viewable here.

Most “experts” don’t want to admit when the screwed up an auction, but I did on this one. Not so much on the players. I got some decent values (Blount $10, Moncrief $11) and don’t hate my team. However, I wanted to spend at WR and QB, but early in the draft I priced enforced on Zeke Elliott and got “stuck” on him at $48. That’s likely $5 less than he’d typically go for but people were sitting on their hands early in the auction. However, it sent me down a path that I don’t think fared as well for me, similar to how when you take a RB in the first round of an auction.

I’m a WR-first guy. I stubbornly decided to still pay for WR and likely overpaid for T.Y. Hilton and Jordy Nelson, but I decided I wanted some high-floor players since we’re drafting so early and about half your roster is going to be picked up in free agency with this league’s thin benches. Those choices had me chasing for QBs and I never was able to pull the trigger on the $15 – $20 QB I desperately needed. As a result, that left me with Alex Smith as my superflex and Jared Goff as my backup QB. There’s a hint of floor and upside in that duo, but not exactly what I had in mind in a 14-team league.

Mark Stopa

In a deep format like this, everyone will have weak spots.. Given how RBs, WRs, and TEs emerge from nowhere each year, I’d rather be weaker at those positions than QB, and I auctioned accordingly.. There’s simply no chance any QB outside the top 20 is going to be someone you want to use each week, and many owners doing so are wasting a valuable bench spot on a third crummy QB to make up for the crummy one in their superflex.

As for the rest … Rawls and Richard are great ways to fade Lacy and Lynch, two guys I won’t be owning in 2017 seasonal.. I like my cheap Pats guys (Lewis, Hogan, Mitchell) because if injuries strike (Cooks, Edelman), they’ll be gold.. Remember, the earlier in 2017 your draft/auction occurs, the more upside on bench matters, as preseason injuries will happen.. Bills D gets the Jets at home Week 1; picking on NYJ will be an ideal way to stream defenses this year.

Kevin Payne

I got a starting lineup with the majority of my money and then went $1 for every bench spot. Didn’t draft a kicker or defense. Drank a lot of vodka. I’d recommend this for all.

Kirk Cousins, face of the Salfino franchise (AP)

Michael Salfino

The story of the draft was that QBs went for too little in this format and WRs went for too much. So I’m thrilled to land Drew Brees ($37) and Brees Jr., Kirk Cousins. The endgame worked for me because I got some really good WR values by my rankings: Britt, Matthews, Thielen, Cobb for a combined 9% of my budget. Britt for $3 thrilled me even though I want to avoid paying for players on teams that are likely to have major QB problems. The thing is, I think Cody Kessler is pretty good — if only I believed the Browns did, too.

I wish I said $53 for David Johnson instead of later having to say $54 for Le’Veon Bell. I have to worry a little about a holdout and Bell is a greater injury risk given their respective histories. My other regret is not saying $4 for Kareem Hunt, who has a David Johnson 2015 vibe.

Scott Jenstad

We came in with a plan for 2 of the top 22 QB (that is where we set our cut off) but not one of the top 3-4, one stud RB and then to play with the depth at WR and attack the mid-range WR after people had spent money on the top WR. I regret $29 total on CJ Anderson and Ameer Abdullah, although I do like Abdullah, but I think we could have bargain shopped for our 3rd RB slot and used that money to upgrade a bit at WR and TE. However, I absolutely love our late bargain WR and I think Coleman, Wallace, Doctson and Ginn for $6 made our depth and is an absurd group for the prices. I worry about 2nd TE in a 2 TE league as we ended up having to go bottom of the barrel there so that is a spot we will need to work on pretty quickly. I regret letting Jeff land Prescott for only $21, I would love to swap out $20 Tyrod Taylor for $21 Dak.

Andy Behrens

We bumped the league size up to 14 teams this year, which is pretty much the outer limit for a two-TE superflex format. The depth of this league led me to balance my spending across positions. I didn’t want to leave the auction with an unfinished team, knowing I had work to do on the wire. Going in, I’d intended to wait on receivers, the position offering the greatest depth; that approach resulted in decent deals on Garcon, Edelman and Decker.

Derek Van Riper

My plan going into the auction was to have one elite QB (Rodgers, Brady, Brees) and one elite RB (Bell, Johnson, or Elliott). It fell though, however, as the pricing at the top exceeded my expectations, and at 14 teams, I was slightly less adamant about sticking to a stars-and-scrubs approach. The value at the top of the pool came with the elite receivers, leading me to build around Julio Jones and A.J. Green instead. The most unexpected trend from the auction that makes my team vulnerable is the high cost of the mid-range and low-end quarterbacks thanks to two additional teams in the league, and our use of the Superflex. My hope, however, is that the likes of Carson Palmer and Joe Flacco can be within a couple points per game of the options who were priced up $10-15 higher, and that my strength at WR, TE, and lack of a hole (initially) at running back gives me good balance from week-to-week.

Brad Evans

When tequila happens, you land Mike Glennon, Sam Bradford and Deshaun Watson as your only QBs. Intended at the onset, I purposely ignored the QB and TE positions and instead focused on acquiring high floor RBs/WRs. Though loaded in the latter areas (RBs: McCoy/Gordon/Powell/Perine; WRs: Alshon/Hopkins/Tyreek), it came at a tremendous cost elsewhere. Inevitably, I’ll spin a RB off at some point for a passing upgrade, but my roster-construction experiment could blow up the lab.

Brandon Funston

Overall, I’m happy with the roster I was able to pull together – no glaring positional weaknesses. Miracle of all miracles, I was able to be a patient shopper and not blow my budget in the early-round inflationary period. But maybe I was a tad too patient, as I had $6 to play with at the end when everyone else was pretty much in $1-draft mode. I ended up using that $6 on Jonathan Stewart, but if I think back on how it could have played out better, it would have probably been to pay $8-9 for a tight end like Hunter Henry or Zach Ertz instead of $4 for Julius Thomas and gone with a $1 DeAndre Washington (I have Marshawn Lynch, so it would have made some sense) in the end at RB instead of J-Stew.

Jeremy Maclin was a July bargain (AP)

Liz Loza

Thank goodness for Grey Goose and Jeremy Maclin. After spending the bulk of my coin on RBs, I needed to snag an undervalued wideout. With over 300 targets up for grabs in Charm City, Maclin is a steal late in drafts… and I got him for just $5!

Dalton Del Don

I entered with a “stars and scrubs” strategy, planning on spending big on quarterbacks and wide receivers. Whether that strategy works (or if I got the right players) remains to be seen, but I certainly executed it. I regret not securing more $1 running back fliers, as I need to get lucky there (my starters are ugly). But this auction took place in mid-July, and RB is by far the most volatile position. I’ll have to be extra aggressive with FAAB at the position.

Chris Liss

Here’s my writeup from Rotowire.

My thoughts are you need to have a decent QB at the QB flex spot. And one who won’t lose his job unless he gets hurt. If I were to do it over again, I’d probably have bought a third instead of Carlos Hyde and punted RB altogether. I’m fairly sure I could trade a $27 QB for a $30-plus back.

I didn’t intend to go big on TE, but you and I were advancing the bid on Gronkowski, who’s worth $40 in this format, and he stopped at $34. I was actually happy to get him even though I probably won’t have him anywhere else.

I went big on Graham because I had some money left, though he was the best player available (again in the two-TE format) and would rather struggle in the end game than leave $ on the table. It cost me a couple Stefon Diggs types, who I could use, but I’m probably better off with Graham.

Scott Pianowski

I agree with most of Peter Schoenke’s comments, up top. I like to go into auctions with a highly agnostic strategy, but this was a league screaming for more urgency at quarterback. Most fantasy players can take that position casually, given the league-wide depth, but that is not the case in a 14-team league where everyone is highly incentivized to play two QBs a week. I should have either gotten three solid starters, or two high-level guys who could land in the Top 10 with a reasonable runout. If we did this auction again tomorrow, I’m sure a bunch of teams would approach the QB position differently.

It’s never a bad idea to make an early overpayment in an auction if it’s something you really want or really need. I should have parked one major QB early, then seen how the market unfolded. Instead, I stuck to my agnostic leanings and probably paid for it.

I do like the rest of my team, but I’m thin at the one position you can’t be thin at. The trade market probably won’t be much; Brad Evans can tell you that. And it’s hard to imagine a lot of QB talent coming into the league, guys we haven’t already drafted.

19 Reasons Your Obsession With Dev Patel Is Justified

We need to talk about Dev Patel.

The 26-year-old British Indian actor could walk away with the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his rolein Lion.In the film, Dev plays Saroo Brierley, a man desperately searching for his family in India after being separated from them at the age of 5.

Its a great, fiery performance that deserves recognition in and of itself, but theres another reason were rooting for him. Just read this tweet:

That is a huge deal.On-screen representation matters, and its especially important for Asian actors. According to a 2016 diversity study,Asian actors nabbed only 3.9 percent of speaking roles in film a stark contrast from the 73.7 percent white actors receive.

Thats not the only reason werepulling for Dev to win an Oscar, though. Below, a few reasons why were obsessed with the Oscar-nominated actor:

Before receiving all this Oscar buzz for Lion, Dev was in 2008s massive hit Slumdog Millionaire and was equally amazing in that. Remember when he danced like this and low-key stole your heart?

He was also great on HBOs The Newsroom, playing a blogger and the offices resident computer geek.

But right around the time of The Newsroom, something began to change. Our nerdy-cute pretend boyfriend started to grow into his looks in a major way. Its like one day the hair gods smiled down at Dev and said, Hey, Slumdog guy, its time to grow out that hair and drive everyone crazy with lust for your locks.

And grow it out he did. The swooshy-hair era began and nothing has been the same since. Dev has pretty much blossomed into full babe mode now.

Then theres his accent. Dev pulls off a pretty convincing Aussie accent in Lion, but his real-life British lilt will melt your heart.

Sigh. Please never stop touching your hair.

All awards season long, Dev has been a big booster of Sunny Pawar, the adorable 8-year-old who plays the younger version of his character in Lion.

We also want him to win because were positive hed be so humble and bashful during his acceptance speech. Just look at how he reacted to his name being called for his SAG award nomination.

And in spite of all the Oscar buzz surrounding him, Dev realizes were living in politically tumultuous times and theres weightier things happening in the world right now. Heres whathe told the LA Timeson the SAG Awards red carpet:

At times like this, youre constantly questioning what youre doing at awards like this or promoting a movie. It feels so pointless. I look to the people around me and they remind me the message of this film, of the art were trying to inject into the world right now. Its about unification, he added.When I think about that, it makes me have a little bit more strength.

Oh, and another thing: Hes an animal lover. (Dev + doggo = happy us. And loud squee-ing noises,to be honest.)
