I think people who let their children use slurs and get a kick out of them using them to others or even swearing at others especially in public deserve permanent jail time and their kids to get adopted by vegans who do gentle parenting.

opinions under cut that i dont think many people will like so if you get upset easily just to be safe i would skip out on this one ,:D
1: every time i see the word proship or antiship or any variation of those a part of me dies a little. do you understand what a slippery slope that is. what do you define as something thats "immoral" to ship? adult x child? i get why thats icky!! i dont like seeing it either!! sibling x sibling? no one should be in a relationship like that!! its exploitative!!
the main issue is that people seem to equate shipping with thinking those characters would be good for one another. it isnt wrong to think pairings are interesting, its wrong to endorse them in real life. feeling grossed out does not mean being violated, and as long as a piece of art/a fic is tagged correctly, those sorts of explorations of fiction deserve to exist.
in general, we should stop trivializing the real life harm done by things such as pedophilia and abuse and incest and all those by comparing them to simple human creativity. i promise its alright and feeling ucky will pass. if you get upset by seeing it im so sorry but it is up to you to filter things. please free yourself from twitter hell.
2: people treat fandom and fiction in general way too seriously. it isnt that deep people are just making things because its interesting and fun 99% of the time it wont reflect their beliefs.
dont even hit me with "fiction affects real life!! what will happen when the kids see it and it gets normalized???" it is not anyones responsibility to parent others children. at all.
can i tell you something? i was a kid who read smut at 9 years old. and lo and behold i am not someone who endorses rape and / or molestation. there are probably hundreds of others just like me who feel very uncomfortable whenever people act as if exposure breeds corruption.
did you know that seeing people say that made me paranoid about me actually being a bad person? did you know i became obsessed with being "good" to balance it out?
you arent helping anyone. this type of fiction can be incredibly cathartic for survivors, it can spread awareness of the issues, and even if it didnt, that shouldnt matter. net zero harm shouldnt be considered "evil".
its okay. its okay, you dont need to be scared of getting attacked anymore. i will defend you with my life. the bug porn you wrote at 15 years old doesnt mean you want to fuck bugs and it doesnt mean youre evil. youre free. its okay i promise. theres a whole big wide world outside of the little pseudofascist bubble you were exposed to. youll be fine.

man the replies on that last post I reblogged are just evidence pieces of how the term 'p*dophilia' has just become a dogwhistle/buzzword some people like to use on anyone either 1) not also joining into/endorsing their violent hivemind cult of bullying people on the internet 2) anyone telling them to stop. I don't think they realize this is a play right out of the conservative playbook (that has often been used against queer people no less): call anyone disagreeing with your fascist policies a predator or p*do to immediately shut down them and their arguments.
Literally, that post said: "Stop bullying people for fictional situations they may create or enjoy"
And then these people said: "STOP BEING A P*DO!!! YOU'RE SUCH A PREDATOR!!! I DON'T DEFEND PREDATORS!!"
Like...what?? That post said nothing about specific fictional situations with minors!! Why are y'all always jumping to that conclusion?? Does that not seem a bit WEIRDER to you, that you're ALWAYS thinking about that?? That you're ALWAYS assuming this is what people are talking about??? I don't wanna say 'PROJECTION' so I won't, but honestly it makes them look all the more suspicious to me if I'm honest, esp as someone who was a victim of that as a child. Just saying.
It gets even more hilarious/weird when you've seen these people in action in fandom and know by 'p*dophilia' they usually mean either a) a fictional age gap relationship with two consenting adults or b) a ship that involves two adult characters, one of whom they ship with someone else and want to invalidate the pairing or sometimes c) a character that is an adult that they've hc'd as 'minor coded' whatever the fuck that means, so now everyone has to share that view and behave accordingly.
But idk man, it's just so fucking weird when people on here say, 'Leave people alone to enjoy their own fictional situations' and then these kinda people immediately jump to assuming they're talking about fictional p*dophilic situations, which I'd say 99.9% of the time is not even what they're talking about. They're PROBABLY talking about the thousands of other ships and situations that are not remotely the p-word but have been characterized as such to invalidate the pairing bc of ship wars or whatever.
It's just weird. It's so fucking weird and annoying, and at the end of the day it's only a justification for harassing and bullying and gatekeeping people out of places and it has been used time and time again by hateful people (again: queer used to be considered synonymous with the p-word when homophobia was even more rampant than it is today, and even TODAY gay people are still being accused of it just for existing)
Like i dOnT whO nEEds 2 HeAr ThiS but bullying people on the internet for fandom stuff is not going to save the children of the world from being preyed upon. If that is really one's goal, to HELP children, there are so many things offline in the real goddamn world that one can involved with to help. But sure, you just keep going on bullying, harassing and doxxing and watering down an important distinction on the internet. I'm sure that's gonna save so many children.
Fucking ridiculous.

"I dont support it in real life!"
Then why write about it? If for coping purposes, why post it online for others (especially actual predators) to see and consume? Then why portray those things in a positive light instead of condemning them? And you're seriously going to tell me that just because as an adult you want to see a fictional minor (that mind you, is usually designed to resemble an actual child) depicted in sexual situations doesn't mean you don't share that same view concerning children in real life? You find fictional minors attractive but not real ones? Why does the line between finding someone who is (and usually also looks like) a child sexually attractive get drawn at whether the child is real or not? I'm not calling anyone pedophiles, but if the shoe fits... And also no, I am not talking about 18 y/os finding 17 y/os attractive. Use your brain. Creating content of underaged characters is still questionable regardless of age, however.
I want you to disconnect this argument from sexual content and pedophilia for a moment and think about this in terms of any story ever.
Do you think people who write about murder endorse murder? Probably not. The "do video games make kids violent" argument has also been debunked several times over. So why do you get freaked out when it's sexual content? Why is it suddenly an endorsement when it's something being written about sexually, or even just something that's taboo in general?
For that matter, you're talking to someone who has written necrophilia since he was like, 15, at least? What makes writing about fictional necrophilia any different than writing about fictional pedophilia, when both are crimes that involve nonconsenting persons?
As to actually explain the appeal of fictional underage: it's not necessarily about finding a young-looking character attractive. I'd argue it's usually not, actually. For me personally, I write about fictional underage because it's a way of me expressing my very real sexual feelings I had as a child, that I obviously couldn't express then because I was too young to grasp consent and safety. I was also abused of course, but beyond that, a lot of adults enjoy thinking about their first awkward relationship, their first kiss, their first time. That's why so many adults in fandom-- especially LGBT adults who were robbed of being able to express their sexuality as teenagers-- latch on SO aggressively to ships depicting LGBT teens. They're projecting onto them and living an experience they never got to have.
And in any case, AO3 has 300,000 fics on the topic. 300,000. Many with hundreds of thousands or even millions of hits. Like it or not, it's popular. About as popular as the rape/non-con tag, in fact. You are GOING to meet people who enjoy that content at some point or another, so you have a choice to make. You can either choose to die on the sword of something that isn't real at the expense of an actual human being, or you can choose to extend respect and courtesy towards real people even if you don't understand or are personally made uncomfortable by their fictional interests. Which one you choose is up to you.
Addendum: I was exposed to loli/shotacon hentai when I was like 10 and at no point did it make me think that actual CSA was okay. I do struggle with POCD regardless but that's more to do with me having been sexually abused than it is anything to do with hentai lmao.

I think you mentioned listening to podcasts? Do you have any favorites to reccommend? I've run out of content :(
that i do !
im not entirely sure what kind of podcast you'd be interested in but i'll throw out a few of the goodies in my huge library of stuff , i'll miss out a few of the HUGE podcasts that have been all over tumblr though
a LOT of it is true crime or human interest stuff , or history because im nerd ,, and a few of these dont have nearly enough attention so [shrug] i'll try to keep this short i guess lol this isnt EVERYTHING ive got in my library or listened series' by any measure
i AM gonna pop a shout to both Stuff You Missed in History Class and Stuff You Should Know from iHeartRadio because their HUGE archives have kept me from losing my mind many times over , and they cover a wide range of both important and wacky topics
BomBARDed (ongoing) this is the only fiction podcast i have happening right now really but its DAMN GOOD ONE .... it's an actual-play D&D 5E podcast in the DMs own musically-inspired world, focussed on a group of multiclass bards going to music school !! and all players (+DM) are members of the Texas band Lindby !! and they actually use and play music in the show with one original song an episode !! Kyle's worldbuilding and storycraft are truly incredible, and (Nick) Goodrich, (also Nick) Spurrier, and Ali's characters are in depth and interesting as well as an absolute powerhouse :') i actually made a piece for its first fanzine, Bardic Dreaming, which published earlier this year and is free to view now, all the players and the community are super wholesome its just very good overall 💙
History & Humans;
Fall of Civilisations (ongoing) legit one of my favourite podcast finds, im so glad my youtube autoplayed one of these ... it took me like 2 hours to realise it was 1) not the same as what was playing before and 2) had been on for 2 hours and wasnt near finished lmao. anyway, this is a series by historical fiction writer Paul Cooper, and is honest to all thats good one of the best documentary series ive encountered in years - and ive consumed a LOT of documentaries. it covered the downfall of various civilisations through history, and the episodes run from an hour to FOUR hours depending on the topic. its so chill to listen to and just get done, but over the pandemic all of the episodes have been given full movie-quality video versions too on youtube if youre more of a visual person.
Casting Lots: A Survival Cannibalism Podcast (on series break) yeah that says that lol ... its a SUPER niche topic but its very interesting and treated very well despite being kind of comical at times, the hosts are just naturally funny lol ... it delves around from the history of cannibalism in whole regions to specific incidents as recently as the 1970s, and of course the first episode is about the Donner Party, and it covers things ive never heard of despite being kind of important ?? anyway Alix and Carmella are good eggs
Sawbones (ongoing) i probably dont need to mention much here other than say that Justin and Sydnee saved me from being SO BORED sooo often, the history of medicine is wacky as hell and its what most of my history GCSE was on so [shrugs]
Cautionary Tales (on series break) this was a wild-card find lol ... it's by Tim Harford "the undercover economist" who writes for the Financial Times, and its topics kind of weave modern topics and science with how to learn from historical errors ... its a bit weird but well worth a go, also each series has a few celebrity guest voice actors which is pretty awesome
Ephemeral (ongoing) this is a very strange but thought provoking series about sounds and other things just barely saved. topics include the last castrato, the hello girls, hand-stamped records, the spread of kīkā kila music, and acoustic fossils of wild places.
Neat! The Boozecast (ongoing) history and bartending whats not to like lol ... hosted by Teylor Smirl and now their dad Tommy, they're just digging around in how important booze is to human culture
True Crime (white collar and weirdness);
Swindled (ongoing) this is an amazing show full stop. A Concerned Citizen details some of the most impactful and unruly things to happen in white collar and corporate crime. very factually accurate but given the sheer bullshit of the topics the deadpan snarking is [chefs kiss] absolutely warranted ..
American Scandal (on series break) this one is a series within a series type, and spends a few episodes at a time poking holes in some of America's biggest scandals, from a dramatised but fact-based point of view. such as what the hell was going on with Enron, how big tobacco was forced to own up to covering its own ass, how Iran-Contra happened, etc. it also now has a sister show called British Scandal, which does the same thing for British cases but with a slightly different format.
Missing in Alaska (finished) this was a fascinating series, a deep dive into what happened to two US government officials who disappeared on a small chartered flight in Alaska in 1972. it goes some really strange places, but it actually turned up a lot of previously unknown information through the audience. John Walczak's new series in a new feed is Missing on 9/11 which looks into what happened to Dr Sneha Philip.
Pretend (ongoing) Host Javier Leiva holds interviews with anyone living a lie, or who have been touched by them. con artists, snake oil salesmen, former cult members, catfishing victims, anyone and everyone.
Power: The Maxwells (finished) hosted by journalist Tara Palmeri, the story of media tycoon Robert Maxwell from nothing to empire to mysterious death and the scandals uncovered after he was gone.
Lets Talk About Sects (ongoing) Sarah Steele covering cults from around the world, in particular those in Australia - where she is from. She often has former members on the show to share their stories, and share knowledge of how they left. each story has the relevant content warnings at the start of each episode.
Brainwashed (finished) investigation of the CIA's covert mind control experiments, centred on the experiments performed at a hospital in Montreal, and its cultural impact.
Dr Death (2 series finished) two series investigating huge cases of fraud and medical malpractice, and how they were brought to a stop. series 1 covers Dr Duntsch and his horribly butchered neurosurgery, series 2 covers Dr Fata and his fraudulent cancer clinic
The Immaculate Deception (finished) untangling the weird and disturbing fertility fraud of Dr Jan Karbaat, who fathered children himself through his fertility clinic, and the impact of his deception. later episodes also touch on other similar cases.
True Crime (Violent/General);
The Casual Criminalist (ongoing) Simon Whistler of-the-many-youtube-channels cold reads a script about the case of the day, with some of his daft commentary thrown in.
Southern Fried True Crime (ongoing) Crimes from the American South hosted by Erica Kelley, she puts all the facts out there but refreshingly for true crime she doesnt hesitate to tell you if she thinks someone is human garbage lol
They Walk Among Us (ongoing) probably one of the most popular UK crime podcasts, very measured and well put together, not weird or annoying about it either.
All Crime No Cattle (ongoing, feed slowed down for now) specifically about crimes from Texas, hosted by Erin and Shay, they're very sensitive hosts and a lot of the cases they cover shed light on why the Texas criminal system is how it is or show an impact at a national level
Canadian True Crime (ongoing) Canadian crime from an Aussie who's lived there for a decade, Kristi is again a sensitive and measured host covering some important topics
True Crime (Violent/Deep Dive);
Hitman (finished) journalist Jasmyn Morris digs around in the sticky tangle around a book published by fringe publisher Paladin Press, and its apparent use as a blueprint in the killing of a mother, her friend and her 8 year old boy for financial gain.
Camp Hell: Anneewakee (ongoing) this series is exploring how a wilderness camp "correctional facility" was endorsed by the Georgia care and juvenile reform system, despite widespread abuses and shady practices the whole time. warning for csa and child cruelty throughout.
True Crime Bullshit (on series break) this one is a huge huge rabbithole but a very interesting one where the host Josh Hallmark has spent years digging into the life and potential crimes of Israel Keyes. Keyes is often mentioned as a serial killer with no pattern, but in picking it apart thats not quite true, and has sparked some re-evaluations of missing persons cases and stumbling upon information the FBI has redacted organically. there's also a series in the middle looking into the crimes of Kelly Cochran
Forgotten: Women of Juárez (finished) this series looks into the huge numbers of missing women of Ciudad Juárez, the strange circumstances surrounding them, and the potential cover-ups and corruptions on both sides of the border, trying to give a voice to all of the forgotten women and girls and their families without answers. the series itself is finished, but a spanish language edition is being released every week now.
aaaaaand i'll call it there before i list everything lol, i hope you find something to plug your boredom hole with !!

terfs dont look at transmen and think "i can fix him" they think "omg i must save this girl" cuz they dont see us as men :/
shit u right nonnie. unfortunate, really. like their blind hatred of men is an issue and so is the rampant transphobia but like...
i suppose in some ways i've been disingenuous. i don't necessarily hate every terf themselves. it is the ideology which i unabashedly hate, which needs to be eradicated. some terfs are capable of changing. some terfs are not so indoctrinated as to become completely and totally blind to any possibility of change.
that said...
sometimes i just wanna ask terfs like. if they've ever sat down and looked, really really looked, at the words they themselves say. at the words and lives and actions of the people they look up to and follow. and i wonder if they see the similarities. the patterns.
i wonder if they see their behavior, and look at the behavior of those generally considered on the wrong side of history (anti-suffrage people, anti-abolitionists, pro-segregation, anti-immigrant, nazis, white supremacists/KKK members/so on, etc etc), both "back then" and now. and i wonder if they see the similarities in their words, in their rhetoric and ideology.
i wonder how many of them have ever asked themselves how a cult leader could convince his followers, who used to be good people, to brutally murder several innocent people, including a pregnant woman, before turning around and blindly advocating for violence against men and trans women (i'm not equating men and trans women here btw, i'm saying they're both targeted by terfs). and i wonder if they think.
and i genuinely hope that either one of two things will happen for them:
1. in the case they don't change, i hope they never have the opportunity to harm any vulnerable people in their lives or around them, many of whom are already so traumatized, or young, or impressionable, and i hope they die knowing that they will largely be remembered for the hate they spoke and violence they endorsed.
2. or, i hope that, some day, they will stop seeing their targeted minority groups as numbers or statistics, and start seeing people. there is a brilliant story about a black man who, at the height of the civil rights era, ended up convincing dozens of people to leave the KKK by simply taking them on car rides around their town and talking to them about his life, and their life, and showing them that he -- as well as all other black people -- are people first and foremost.
i hope that more than anything. sincerely. and yes, many of my words online are angry, because i am angry, and most people are not changed by people's words online. they are often changed by those present physically in their lives. i hope that one day terfs, and all those like them, will remember that we are all people with choices, and the likelihood of someone being a good or bad person is based not on your assigned gender, or any form of biology, but rather your choices as a person.
and i will end with words from the great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. while these words were focused on race, and that cannot be forgotten, these words at their core resonate no matter what's being said.
But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.
[...]
So even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.
I have a dream that one day down in Alabama with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification, one day right down in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers. I have a dream today.
And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true. And so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire. Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York. Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania. Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado. Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California. But not only that, let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia. Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee. Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi. From every mountainside, let freedom ring.
And when this happens, and when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:
Free at last. Free at last. Thank God almighty, we are free at last.

I saw your twitter thread about the loki series haters and you’re absolutely right. I think a lot of people forget that the series was affected by covid so they had to reduce the plot as much as they could. I signed the petition thing but only because as a genderfluid person I’m upset at the way they handled genderfluidity with the Loki/Sylvie relationship because it seems like its been based off autogynephilia and within the fandom I’ve seen a rise in homophobia and transphobia since. I dont think the petition and the letters will actually do anything because like you said this stuff gets planned out but hopefully marvel have taken note that the majority of trans/gf people have been hurt by the representation.
Anon you are very valid! And I appreciate you for approaching this topic with the same nuance, as many people seem incapable of doing!
That’s actually another source of frustration for me: the idea that a campaign solely politely discussing Loki’s genderfluidity or requesting it be brought to the forefront differently would actually make more sense, and be more useful. I may not identify as genderfluid specifically, but I’m non-binary (and wish I could shapeshift gender presentation based on mood lmfao), so I get it even outside of the baseline understanding of what poor representation involves. And I may not talk about it often, but I’m not oblivious to the validity and necessity of that discussion whatsoever; it just so happens that most of the people who talk about it don’t do it in a way that I fully agree with and thus endorse.
However, I will say that for me, I think the whole “selfcest” angle is completely absurd as a complaint. Like, get a grip, that’s not a real word or a real thing. People also overestimate or misunderstand that supposed ~romance~ quite a lot which is a part of the toxic fandom culture problem overall. It’s more metaphorical than literal, for one thing. And while that Sylki relationship certainly doesn’t exist in a vacuum, if we’d seen Loki shift into a feminine/womanly form even once or allude to it, I think that would have gone a long way in removing most of people’s ability to complain about Loki/Sylvie in any way that holds water. The absence of a demonstration or discussion of genderfluidity outside of Sylvie’s existence is the main issue, not the story they were telling between the two of them.
The fandom is an absolute fucking shitshow of bitterness in one corner and bigotry in the other corner though, of that we can certainly fully agree. And I do genuinely hope Loki’s genderfluidity is better showcased in season 2, which (in my view) would be easy enough to incorporate without changing any story plans overtly much. Privately, I’ve always kind of wondered if they’ve deliberately kept that on the backburner as a later ~reveal~ in season 2 since season 1 had the bi reveal (which WAS DONE WELL! Fuck off, ignorant stan children!). I’m not saying it was right of them if so, but I’m saying it wouldn’t surprise me. As long as it doesn’t turn into Lokius happening because or when Loki is presenting as a woman lmaaaoooo (though I truly don’t think it would be).
One more thought: I also think a lot of people forget overall that COVID affected it, and that either way the story isn’t over. I don’t understand how this is hard to grasp. It’s only half done. It’s like getting pissed at a book halfway through. If they had a single collective braincell between them, they’d recognize the potential in the idea that Sylki is now a closed door which leaves others open to the future. But no, they’d rather be entitled and convince themselves anything good about the show as somehow made up in their head, and it’s written by horrible people.
Mess.

short about and rules until i get this blog in order.
GENERAL
this is a blog for marvel’s erik “magneto” magnus lehnsherr / max eisenhardt, 616 based with certain mcu influences and a selective mcu verse tailored my own way. i generally do not like the mcu or xmcu. i have been writing magneto for around 6 years and my takes are personally developed and my own. do not lift from me, i will notice. my previous url was magnetive.
i am jewish, as is erik. i don’t care about your goyische opinions.
nsfw will appear, especially mentions of the holocaust and antisemitism, nazism, child death, violence, starvation, etc. i’ll tag almost anything. nsfw of a sexual variety will probably appear occasionally as well; i am 24.
please tag a/b/o, mothers day, pet death, and pedophilia for me.
the usual goes. don’t godmod but inferences to move a thread along, be respectful and polite, no bigotry, etc.
my interpretation of erik is not that of the hammy archetypal villain how he was portrayed in early appearances, nor that of certain depictions of a man dissatisfied with his faith.
also, obviously i’ve always taken the twins as his own children and cannot see them as anything else. addendum, i do not appreciate “deadbeat dad” erik jokes, nor anything that seriously portrays him as not loving pietro.
i will not interact with kilgrave blogs or “hydra” blogs. i don’t care if you’re “coping” or don’t endorse the fucking red skull. rape and nazism is not welcome on this blog.
SHIPPING
i’ll basically say i’m open but selective. erik is not easy to ship with and its not the priority of my blog and never really has been.
i see erik as a bi-ace man with male leanings; this does not discount the women he’s loved and never will.
i like cherik, but please be aware that i’m hyper critical of charles xavier, especially 616 charles, and think he’s a bit of a bastard. this isn’t mean to reflect you as a writer, just the character himself; in fact, it rarely reflects how erik himself feels.
please note that i am severely uncomfortable shipping erik with anna marie / rogue. it’s totally fine if you ship them, but considering i portray erik as being actively involved with raven’s life, and having known her children since they were young, it makes me really uncomfortable to think of him dating either of them. i’m also just uncomfortable writing him with people who are way younger than him in general; they have to at least have emotional and physical maturity of an individual preferably in their 40s.
no weird ships please. nothing with characters substantially younger than him or characters he does not and would never view in that light.
OTHER
again, erik is a jew and so am i. i’m going to be talking about it a lot and bringing it deep into my writing. this unfortunately is going to include the shoah, as its something erik lived through and experienced, and deeply impacted the way he would go about the rest of his life. despite his hardships, he loves himself, his faith and culture, etc.
there are a number of people i dont want to see on my dash and will probably unfollow if i’m forced to. its not personal, it’s for my own comfort.
DO NOT WRITE WITH ME IF YOU WRITE GENDERBENDS OR WRITE WITH GENDERBENDS. do not write with me if you write with weaponxtm / kiel. thank you.
I HATE this rpc. i am a long withstanding marvel writer and i literally hate like 75% of the people in this rpc. if i follow, i want to write. if i’m at all irritated by something you post, i’m just going to unfollow for my sanity.
i typically do not follow first for the above reason, and also just because i’m shy.
DO NOT WRITE WITH ME IF YOU WHITEWASH THE MAXIMOFF TWINS. they are RROMA and JEWISH. if you use elizabeth olssen (or however you spell her name) as your fc, aware of all the shit shes said and aware that her playing the character she plays is whitewashing  and antisemitic, i hate you and want nothing to do with you.  if you are unaware, i will be happy to explain.
if you dont have any mun info anywhere on your blog, i probably am not going to follow you.
i’m danny. 24 in october. jewish. trans.

it's troubling that you felt the need to add that people can "still like Harry Potter" after detailing how baked into the series the bigotry is. how could you approve of anyone still liking that franchise?
anon, i’ll be honest with you. i don’t know why i said that.
i think what i meant when i said that is that i understand how people can find the world intriguing and i understand that people who read it when they were children can feel an intense emotional connection to it. personally, i find harry potter irredeemable after knowing everything about jkr’s bigotry, and to this day i’m not gonna trust people who are seriously into it. i don’t even think the books are that well written. but that’s beside the point.
you’re right, anon. i really dont like the harry potter series. and i don’t endorse liking it or buying the books or giving jkr money either.
so... yeah. i guess there’s my stance on that. thank you for helping me think a little harder about that. it’s important to distinguish between “this media has some implicit bias that should be recognized and called out but it still has value as a piece of media and therefore shouldn’t be entirely disregarded” and “this media has so many abhorrent elements that are inextricable from its plot and those flaws come out to being more prevalent than the value of the media as a whole, and therefore it’s better to completely toss it out of your reading list”. i personally see harry potter as being the latter because of how entrenched it all is and how a lot of it seems at least somewhat intentional.
yeah,,, unfollow me if you’re gonna defend harry potter after this. there are black, brown, transgender, lgbtqa+, disabled, jewish, muslim, etc. fantasy authors you could be reading instead whose stories don’t have these flaws.
fuck jkr and fuck harry potter.

there’s so, so, SO much nonsense surrounding this game that i’m gonna do my best to separate it into digestible bits, with its own categories. even then this is... wow. it’s big.
Warning tags will be added at the start of every section, but the general gist is: incest, pedophilia mentions, fetishization of rape and abuse, fetishization of mlm, fetishization of people of color, racism, ableism, nb erasure and transphobia. aside of the warnings, this post will also touch upon Scummy Business Practices
let’s get going
Dana Rune’s and Elle’s lack of moral fiber: #incest #pedophilia#rape and abuse fetishization #homophobia
tl;dr: dana loves incest porn, elle loves guy on guy rape, and the both of them are friends with at least one pedophile
dana rune has run, is still running an incest zine (please visit my faq on what i think about “thats not really incest” and “it’s just fictional!”). The Arcana, as a dev team, clearly does not care, as shown in their e-mail responses.
dana also very much doesn’t care and has reacted to any criticism on this by dismissing people and blocking actual incest victims who tried to contact her about it claiming it was for her “mental health”
in some tweets she claims she “interprets” the characters as not siblings, but she never really cared enough to cover her ass when it all began (she happily admits she’d “cross the incest line”)
dana has commissioned artists who also ship incest, draw near-pedophilic art that’s supposed to pass as acceptable because the character involved is supposedly not a minor despite looking like a child down to wearing pigtails (the character is also wearing a racist-ass belly dancer outfit), AND even made white-washed fanart of The Arcana.
dana follows twitter user kapymui who also produces incestuous Fire Emblem art
dana has retweeted omocat long after it came out that omocat is, at the very least, consuming pedophilic content (on “omocat didn’t know what shota meant!”: yes they did)
moving on, elle has a long, long, LONG history of fetishizing mlm and the rape and abuse that comes with yaoi and had a rich, RICH “yaoi” tag before they deleted their tumblr
they curiously deleted their tumblr right after i made this reblog
shortly after that, tumblr user thalassiq remade and started attacking and insulting any blogs criticizing them - even people providing support in IMs. Since this doesn’t match Dana and Elle’s normal pity parties I’m personally willing to believe they were just a person wanting to start shit - but it’s so telling how Elle used this chance to dismiss everyone who disagrees with them by calling them “children” and did not even bother to offer a kind word to people who were harassed and even had their trauma mocked by this person. It costs 0 dollars to say “that was not me but I’m sorry about people who were hurt.”
Dana and Elle are close with Ava’s Demon creator Michelle Czajkowski aka that one person who endorses child porn of her characters, and even had her draw a promo image for the game. Michelle has been creating highly sexualized content of her minor characters for a while now.
ok so elle and dana are gross freaks, how is that related to the game?
oh it’s very very related
Dana Rune’s and Elle’s lack of moral fiber that’s Actually Inside The Game or The Game’s Blog: now with more #racism #fetishization of poc and mlm #whitewashing #fat hate #pedophilia #nb erasure #transphobia
tl;dr: the arcana is filled to the brim with racism! so much of it! haha holy shit! and that’s not even where it ends!!!
their game is rated PG-13 but includes incredibly sexual situations such as Julian making this fucking face while getting off on pain. This isn’t the only time Dana and Elle use their videogame aimed at young teens to showcase their kinks and fetishes. I have no issue with NSFW or titillating content, as long as it’s rated accordingly. This content is NOT and it’s a blatant disregard for their audience just to have a larger, more pliable demographic and have more money sent their way.
if you start your argument with “well, teenagers look at porn” 1. shut up 2. theres a HUGE difference between teenagers going after adult content aimed at adults, and adults creating content they know will be seen by kids barely starting puberty
as pointed above, dana has 0 qualms literally commissioning people who make whitewashed fanart of her own fucking game that’s supposed to be all about the inclusivity and safe spaces
thearcanagame blog has a pattern of reblogging whitewashed fanart (before you come in swinging with the good ole “ITS THE LIGHTING”: 1. no it isnt 2. the artist should’ve picked better lightning then 3. i draw and post shit online too so dont come telling me i just dont understaaaand),
fanart of their fat characters showed skinnier than they are in their sprites (although to be real for a moment - Portia is curvy at most and them behaving she’s fat rep is HILARIOUS).
going back to NSFW content: nadia and asra are overwhemlingly sexualized in the game, and were the first to have sexualized CGs and sprites introduced.
CGs: Asra’s here, here aND HERE, Nadia’s here with a NSFW warning because she’s just got her whole fucking ass out. Sprites: Asra’s thank god for whoever compiled it all in one image, Nadia’s and once again, NSFW warning lmfao!
Julian’s sprites on the other hand are noticeably tamer, including the one where he’s fucking strapped in leather. His only sexual (NSFW warning because its literally softcore tentacle porn WHICH, ONCE AGAIN, SHOULDN’T BE PUT IN A GAME AIMED AT 13YOS) CGs were also included months after Nadia and Asra received any of theirs.
Through all of the updates, people have constantly requested that Asra and Nadia’s sexualization be toned down, and time after time The Arcana just churned out fetishistic, hypersexualized content at an absurd rate, especially when compared to the one white love interest.
Oh, speaking of the one white love interest: Julian is based off of Jeff Goldblum (this is not spectulation - they p much bring it up at any given time) but like. If Jeff Goldblum was white. They base their favorite love interest off their supposed favorite man in the world but casually leave his skin tone behind. Lmao.
they also play favorites very obviously - in the prologue, Nadia and Asra have a romance paid scene each. Julian has a scene... that requires no coins. Julian was also the first LI to receive three CGs, two of them requiring no coins, while both Asra’s and Nadia’s first CGs were behind a paywall
Dana and Elle have been notoriously skittish about confirming or denying their characters’ ethnicities. After hyping for weeks on thearcanagame that they would confirm the character’s races they basically made a post that amounted to “well they’re not white lol!”
they only relented after the perfectly understandable outrage... and posted a thread about it on Elle’s twitter. Nothing on the actual thearcanagame blog. Anyway, here’s the thread. Note how there’s mention of Julian being Jeff Goldblum... but nothing about him and Portia being Jewish (or “fantasy Jewish” as it were).
The one time they did confirm their jewishness dana then backpedaled and said she shouldn’t have done that lol.
another fun tidbit of how well The Arcana handles race and how much it cares about feedback from fans: an ask was sent about an anon begging for Nadia to step on them. The blog, with the finesse of a bunch of horny dumbasses, didn’t just publish the ask, but approved of it (even though the fans of color had long, long, LONG been telling everyone not to fetishize Nadia into a “step on me kween” wet dream). People were outraged, of course, and the blog ~apologized~ and said they were still learning.... then a new chapter included a scene of Nadia stepping on the Apprentice. 🙃
not to mention elle, on their twitter, made a passive aggressive “women can be doms?” tweet, trying to twist it into a “yr oppressing women” angle (when the issue is that women of color are always constantly portrayed as aggressive and domineering)
Now for a wombo combo of racism and Elle’s fetishization of mlm:
the devs have spoken at length of how Julian’s and Asra’s relationship was quite unhealthy. In a paid scene in Asra’s route, they’re depicted as Asra being disgusted w Julian touching him+Julian following Asra to his shop when Asra refused his offer to go with him (aka julian... stalked him lmfao).
.......... this scene is promptly followed by a highly sexual scenario where Julian’s pain fetish is played up. Remember how this game is rated PG-13? Me neither. Asra’s previous disgust with Julian is also forgotten, for some reason (and by some reason i mean Elle wants to make them fuck w/o buildup or logic).
Then Asra’s route has yet another paid scene dedicated to Asrian, even though he’s supposed to not even like Julian! And be head over heels with the Apprentice! But Elle just has to make these two be entangled despite insisting their relationship was not good for either of them!
Now here’s the kicker: Julian doesn’t have any paid scenes related to his romance with Asra. Note how it’s one of the brown LIs whose route is highjacked by the white LI, but not vice versa. Hmmmmm.
Now, on the topic of Asra: thearcanagame has said repeatedly that he’s nb and uses he/him pronouns, and promised (since last year) that there would be dialogue where he speaks about his gender
as of the making of this post such dialogue still does not exist
so basically asra is the nb to dumbledore’s gay: anyone who just plays the game w/o keeping up with the official blog has no idea of what asra’s gender is supposed to be.
aka he’s not nb. he’s just a cis guy. the arcana just doesn’t want to put its money where its mouth is, i dont care if elle is nb themself. the team made a promise which has not been fulfilled yet and i suspect will not be.
instead, our introduction to canon nb characters is... these two.
By “these two” i mean neither vulgora nor valdemar are even fucking human, and stick out like sore thumbs with their monstruousness.
so our nb rep is... non-human villains. a few books later one of Nadia’s sisters with they/them pronouns shows up, but that’s too little too late on top of the fact that we should’ve known Asra was nb from the first to begin with. It’s a fucking embarrassment and an insult.
at least two villains are visibly disabled (Lucio’s missing arm and Volta’s blind eye+intentionally asymmetrical face). Julian’s eye doesn’t count because, spoilers, he’s not lacking an eye and even if he was it’d still be hidden behind a dashing eyepatch instead of grotesquely displayed as a sign of his lacking morality.
BUT WAIT! IT DOESN’T EVEN END THERE!
The Arcana Exploits The App Business Model To Price Their Full Game at $500, $1000 if the three extra routes make it out, and they never delivered their Kickstarter rewards:
tl;dr: you heard me
the original price per route was planned on being $1.99
they took that “subject to change” really seriously, it seems, because now each route, once the game is fully out, is estimated to cost around $170 each.
both those screenshots are taken from this post which explains in detail just how truly scummy all of The Arcana’s business model and decisions are: https://mysticmicrotransactions.tumblr.com/post/174308723344/dishonesty-from-the-arcana
the tl;dr is basically what’s listed in the beginning of this section, but other highlights from that post are: the use of addictive gambling mechanics such the Wheel of Fortune, and the dazzling calls to action in the new mini-game.
something that The Arcana supporters forget (or choose to ignore) is the fact that for a long, long time the game did not have the mini-game or the log-in rewards for coins. Players depended only on the gambling of the WoF or paying absurd amounts of money for the new chapters.
the devs went from playing the victims who were unable of controlling prices to (as spoken of in the link from mysticmicrotransactions) saying the making of the game (a pathetic little app game backed by a studio and a kickstarter) justifies the prices
they also gave people false hope about maybe changing the prices in the future, all while bleeding money from loyal players in “micro” transactions
the arcana literally added a $99.99 coins option on their latest update
in case it hasn’t sunk in yet: you can pay a hundred dollars upfront to the arcana, and you still will not have access to the whole game
there is no defense to this
none
“it’s free stop whining” let me explain:
“spend months on end accumulating fake currency or pay hundreds of dollars up-front to be able to play” is a scummy business model no matter how you look at it
if i can spend $60 upfront to play an AAA game there’s no excuse to demand more than that for a game with much smaller and, honestly, inferior content
the combination of there being already far and few games featuring lgbt characters and characters of color AND the little cult of personality set up by Dana and Elle makes people feel that spending money to support them is an acceptable expense.
it’s not
manipulating people into spending ridiculous amounts of money and then claiming “it’s their choice” is just scummy business, baby, and thats all the arcana does
the devs are brats who instead of admitting $500 is absurd for a game instead write petty little caricatures into their game - like, lbr: dana, elle, if i could afford diamonds in my hair i wouldn’t have even bothered with your shitstain of a game
despite bragging that ppl would get the full story w/o needing to pay, the paid scenes are pretty much required - the first few books of julian’s route have no romance without accessing any of the paid options. you dont even get so much as a kiss in without handing coins over. many, many people were baffled when julian had a teary break-up scene when from their perspective they hadn’t even started building a relationship.
wow that’s more than i ever thought it’d be
and i’ve been aware of their bullshit for near a whole year now!
i don’t have much of a note to end this on, other than: the arcana just isn’t even that good. it suffers from weak writing, pathetic character development and above all actually harmful content. do not try to argue with me on any of these points unless you’ve read all of that, because whatever you have to say i’ve likely mentioned before. if you still are that determined to yell at a me on the internet, please preface your argument with the phrase “I’m a pee pee poo poo man” so I know you’ve read everything in here. thank you!

How To Get Rid Of Republicans

How To Get Rid Of Republicans
Tumblr media
Opinion: Almost Half Of Republicans Admit Theyre Ready To Ditch Democracy
Getting Rid of the GOP RINOs
Almost half of Republicans are now saying the quiet part out loud: Theyd prefer to ditch this whole democracy thing.
So finds CBS News-YouGov polling conducted in mid-May. The survey asked Republicans a series of questions about the required level of fealty to former president Donald Trump, their views of the 2020 election and priorities for the party going forward.
The results were bleak.
Two-thirds said it was important for Republicans to be loyal to Donald Trump now. The same share said they did not believe President Biden was the legitimate winner of the 2020 election. recent assertion that I dont think anybody is questioning the legitimacy of the presidential election.)
But the most troubling results came from a question about the partys best strategy for winning in 2022 and 2024. If you were consulting for the party, respondents were asked, would you focus on developing a message and popular policies and ideas to win over more voters? Or would you prioritize changes to the voting rules in states and districts?
A whopping 47 percent chose the latter option. In other words, nearly half of those who still identify as Republicans appear to have given up on a key premise of democracy: that you earn the right to govern by proposing ideas that appeal to a majority of the public. Theyd prefer to short-circuit that process and, instead, make it harder for their opponents to vote.
So much for party of ideas, as the GOP once called itself.

Trump Tells Republicans To Get Rid Of Rinos
Former President Donald Trump delivered a fiery speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Sunday. The speech will be seen by many as the first step towards a 2024 comeback, especially given his bold call to action.
Trump called on GOP voters to remove renegade legislators who threaten to split the party.
President Trump vows vengeance on those who betrayed him.
David J Harris Jr
President Trump might have lost the election, but he still enjoys record levels of support among Republican voters and more people turned out to back him than any other GOP candidate in history. On Sunday, he warned the party that RINO lawmakers are threatening to spread division in a party that, at the grassroots level, is united.
The only division is between a handful of Washington, DC, establishment political hacks, Trump said, after naming 17 turncoats who opposed his presidency or voted with the Democrats to impeach him.
Trump ended on an upbeat note, promising to support strong, tough, and smart Republican candidates who can create an effective and united political machine to take on the Democrats.
Thousands Of Voting Rights Advocates Are Rallying Across The Country Saturday To Call For Sweeping Protections Against A Further Erosion Of The Voting Rights Act Of 1965

Thousands of voting rights advocates rallied across the country Saturday to call for sweeping federal laws that would wipe out voting restrictions advancing in some Republican-controlled states that could make it harder to cast a ballot.
Many activists view the fight over voting rules as the civil rights issue of the era. But frustrations have mounted for months because two expansive election bills have stalled in the U.S. Senate, which is split evenly between Democrats and Republicans and the measures lack the votes to overcome a GOP blockade.
The rallies, which were held in dozens of cities, were intended to increase pressure on Democrats to rewrite procedural rules that would allow Democrats to muscle the legislation through without Republican votes. But they were also aimed at coaxing President Joe Biden to become a more forceful advocate on the issue.
You said the night you won that Black America had your back, and that you were going to have Black Americans backs, the Rev. Al Sharpton, who helped organize the national demonstrations, said at a rally in Washington Well, Mr. President, theyre stabbing us in the back.
More than a thousand people turned out in sweltering heat on the National Mall on Saturday, the 58th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s I Have Dream speech.

Homosexuals Do Not Deserve Equal Rights
This comes from their religious beliefs, which form the basis for a lot of policy. Republicans believe that homosexuality is a choice and, as such, gay people should not be acknowledged in the same way as other groups. Therefore, according to a Republican, homosexuals should not be allowed to marry, nor should they be allowed to adopt children.
House Gop Leader Says He Backs Ousting Cheney From No 3 Job
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WASHINGTON Top House Republican Kevin McCarthy on Sunday publicly endorsed Rep. Elise Stefanik for the post of No. 3 leader, cementing party support of the Donald Trump loyalist over Rep. Liz Cheney, an outspoken critic of the former president for promoting discredited claims that the 2020 election was stolen.
House Republicans could vote as early as Wednesday to remove Cheney, the highest-ranking woman in the Republican leadership and daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, and replace her with Stefanik, whose ascension has received Trumps backing.
Asked in an interview on Fox News Channels Sunday Morning Futures whether he supported Stefanik, R-N.Y., for the job of Republican Conference chair, McCarthy responded: Yes, I do.
We want to be united in moving forward, and I think that is what will take place, he said in response to a question about whether he had the votes to oust Cheney, R-Wyo.
McCarthy said the leadership post must focus on a message day in and day out on what he said were the problems of the Biden administration.

American Democracy Is At Risk From Trump And The Republicans What Can Be Done
The Capitol attack was a warning: US democracy is at risk. To fix the system before the 2022 midterms, two steps have to be enacted
Academics rarely agree about the big issues, and generally hesitate to enter the political fray by signing collective public statements. Yet a few days ago, more than 100 leading scholars of democracy endorsed a remarkable Statement of Concern, which I also signed, warning about grave threats to American democracy and the deterioration of US elections.
We urge members of Congress to do whatever is necessary including suspending the filibuster in order to pass national voting and election administration standards that both guarantee the vote to all Americans equally, and prevent state legislatures from manipulating the rules in order to manufacture the result they want. Our democracy is fundamentally at stake. History will judge what we do at this moment.
Why the alarm? Is this warranted?
On 14 December 2020, after courts litigated challenges and all 50 states certified the count, the electoral college formally declared the defeat of Donald Trump. Most assumed that the peaceful and orderly transition in power would follow, following historical traditions for over 200 years. Instead, the world was shocked to witness the violent Capitol insurrection on 6 January, triggering five deaths, 140 people injured and more than 400 arrests.
What is to be done?
The Ridiculous Reasons Some Republicans Want To Get Rid Of Liz Cheney
No one is in a hotter seat in today’s Republican Party than Liz Cheney.
The Wyoming Republican, who is the third-ranking member of House Republican leadership, was not-so-subtly called out by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy earlier this week at a GOP retreat in Orlando, Florida.
“There’s a responsibility, if you’re gonna be in leadership, leaders eat last,” McCarthy said. “And when leaders try to go out, and not work as one team, it creates difficulties.” When asked whether Cheney was still a “good fit” for the leadership team, McCarthy responded, “That’s a question for the conference,” Punchbowl News’ Jake Sherman reported Tuesday.
Hours later, former President Donald Trump sounded off on Cheney. Here’s some of what the 45th president had to say:
“Liz Cheney is polling sooo low in Wyoming, and has sooo little support, even from the Wyoming Republican Party, that she is looking for a way out of her Congressional race. Based on all polling, there is no way she can win. She’ll either be yet another lobbyist or maybe embarrass her family by running for President, in order to save face.”
What, you might ask, has Cheney done to deserve such opprobrium? Well, let’s take a closer look.

The Republican fault lines go in every direction: between the grassroots and the establishment, between big donors and aspiring presidential candidates, between House leaders and Senate leaders.
Republican pollster Frank Luntz says he has seen intraparty battles before, “but this one is so deep and so polarizing and people are so passionate about it I don’t know how you heal it. I don’t know how you bring these people together.”
The biggest internal division right now, says Luntz, is between Republicans who voted for impeachment and voters who opposed it. He found in research this week that 43% of Trump voters say they would definitely vote against any lawmaker who supports impeachment.
“That makes it impossible for Republicans to put together a majority by 2022, and in fact, that’s a direct threat to the existence of the Republican Party overall,” Luntz said.

President Trump speaks to supporters on Jan. 6 before pro-Trump extremists launched a violent attack on the U.S. Capitol. Trump’s role in encouraging the siege over false claims of election fraud has hardened divisions in the Republican Party.
In a matter of hours on Jan. 6, the Republican Party went from shrugging off its loss of the White House to a party in crisis.
It was becoming clear just before the violent insurrection at the Capitol that the party had lost two Senate runoff elections in Georgia, making President Trump the first president since Herbert Hoover whose party lost the White House, the House and the Senate in one term. And plenty of Republicans blamed Trump for the Democrats’ success in Georgia.
Trump’s own defeat means the GOP has failed to get a majority of votes in seven of the last eight presidential elections.
Now, Trump leaves office as the only president to be impeached twice, and the House vote against Trump over the Capitol insurrection marked the most bipartisan impeachment in U.S. history.

Religion And The Belief In God Is Vital To A Strong Nation
Republicans are generally accepting only of the Judeo-Christian belief system. For most Republicans, religion is absolutely vital in their political beliefs and the two cannot be separated. Therefore, separation of church and state is not that important to them. In fact, they believe that much of what is wrong has been caused by too much secularism.
Those are the four basic Republican tenets: small government, local control, the power of free markets, and Christian authority. Below are other things they believe that derive from those four ideas.

Biden Is An Elusive Target
Republicans have had little success demonizing Biden with independent voters because so many people feel they know him, analysts said.
The president has been a fixture in American politics for more than a half-century. A senator from Delaware for more than three decades, Biden participated in many high-profile hearings and congressional debates. He served eight years as vice president to President Barack Obama.
After winning the Democratic nomination for president last year, Biden;racked up more than 80 million votes to unseat Trump despite Trump and his Republican allies lobbing constant allegations of malfeasance against Biden and his son;Hunter, as well as attacks on Biden’s fitness to hold office.;
Some of those attacks have continued into the Biden presidency;but;to little avail.
An average of polls compiled by Real Clear Politics gives Biden an average job approval rating of 54.2%.
The underlying data in those polls shows a common theme: Republicans tend not to like Biden, and Democrats support him strongly, including those who backed more liberal candidates such as Bernie Sanders in last year’s primaries.;
Americans have a generally positive view of the president who casts himself as the product of a working-class environment in Scranton, Pennsylvania, a practical politician willing to work with Republicans on legislation to help Americans.
What Do Republicans Believe In
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do all Republicans believe the same things? Of course not. Rarely do members of a single political group agree on all issues. Even among Republicans, there are differences of opinion. As a group, they do not agree on every issue.
Some folks vote Republican because of fiscal concerns. Often, that trumps concerns they may have about social issues. Others are less interested in the fiscal position of the party. They vote they way they do because of religion. They believe Republicans are the party of morality. Some simply want less government. They believe only Republicans can solve the problem of big government. Republicans spend less . They lower taxes: some people vote for that alone.
However, the Republican Party does stand for certain things. So I’m answering with regard to the party as a whole. Call it a platform. Call them core beliefs. The vast majority of Republicans adhere to certain ideas.
So what do Republicans believe? Here are their basic tenets:

‘he’s On His Own’: Some Republicans Begin To Flee From Trump
NEW YORK President Donald Trump’s steadfast grip on Republicans in Washington is beginning to crumble, leaving him more politically isolated than at any other point in his turbulent administration.
After riling up a crowd that later staged a violent siege of the U.S. Capitol, Trump appears to have lost some of his strongest allies, including South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham. Two Cabinet members and at least a half dozen aides have resigned. A handful of congressional Republicans are openly considering whether to join a renewed push for impeachment.

The result could reshape the party, threatening the influence that Trump craves while creating a divide between those in Washington and activists in swaths of the country where the president is especially popular.
President-elect Joe Biden isn’t putting his weight behind the effort yet, suggesting there’s not enough time between now and his Jan. 20 inauguration to pursue impeachment or any other constitutional remedy.

How To Get Rid Of Republicans

House Gop Leader Says He Backs Ousting Cheney From No 3 Job

What is to be done?

thanks for the submission anon! not sure why the entire article was pasted but i’ll put it under a cut. i dont endorse everything said here but i think its a worthwhile read
The question remains as to whether Canadian polemicists know what they are talking about when they denounce “cultural appropriation”. I don’t think they do. I think they are misrepresenting the phenomenon and bloating it to useless dimensions, sloppily borrowing American terminology, and bending the reality of Canadian history out of shape. I also detect a familiar narrowing of the dominant vocabulary that is authorized for use by the media in public discourse, so that one term or phrase is used to do the work that previously several different concepts handled. Confusion is the inevitable result—and that is by design. It is intended that we should be confused, since that spawns endless circular debates, irresolvable conflict, parties speaking past each other—all of which works against sharing, against acculturation, and against building a stronger national society. It also works against the indigenization of Canadian society, the cultural side of the economic citizenship that I defended here. Instead we are turned into mutually hostile bands of litigants, constantly parsing each other’s statements for even the smallest sign of something which we might find offensive. We are constantly feigning fainting spells, our delicate selves being so overwhelmed by the daily outrages against our reputation (brand).
Some well-placed Canadians do not know the difference between cultural appropriation and assimilation, and the errors that ensue lead to a falsification of Canadian history. To begin with, assimilation in its most basic historical sense involves a dominant group (typically colonizers) absorbing or incorporating the dominated group (the colonized) into the social and cultural norms of the dominant group. The indigenous culture is thus meant to be extinguished, and those who once belonged to that culture now acquire a new culture—they are converted to the culture of the dominant group. The indigenous culture is in no sense “valued” by the colonizer—it has no value, it can be held in contempt, and was usually targeted for erasure. Not to be mistaken with the unidirectional process that is assimilation, acculturation involves “those phenomena which result when groups of individuals having different cultures come into continuous first-hand contact, with subsequent changes in the original cultural patterns of either or both groups” (Redfield, Linton, & Herskovits, 1936, pp.149–150; see also Herskovits, 1937, p. 259). Both assimilation and acculturation are examples of culture contact, culture change, and more broadly, “diffusion”. Cultural appropriation, which is not as well defined as the previous terms and does not enjoy as long a history in North American anthropology, is muddled because it could mean taking over or taking from or simply borrowing. The corollary is that when a culture has been subjected to appropriation, that culture continues to exist intact: I can claim that your culture is now mine, but that does not mean you cease to have your culture; I can acquire select values, practices, and motifs, and make them my own, and again that does not mean you lose those elements; I can borrow an item, inspired by you, and you lose nothing as a result. Where cultural appropriation seems to rise to a condition of conflict, is when commerce and formal ownership are involved—but then that takes us to cultural exploitation, which is far removed from simple acts of sharing and borrowing.
Focusing just on the pair—assimilation vs. appropriation—recent evidence in Canada shows the monumental errors that are made when appropriation is used to handle the meanings of several very different concepts, all at once. Here, for example, is Jesse Wente, a Canadian Aboriginal, not a chief of a nation but a self-described “Ojibwe dude” who, not to be falsely modest, is a figure in the Canadian mass media, a self-appointed gatekeeper and culture broker, and a purported specialist on “diversity” and “inclusion”. Wente recently vented the following:
“It’s easy to say you don’t believe in cultural appropriation when it’s your culture that has been forced on many, while erasing there’s [sic]”.
He is right: it would be easy to say that, because it’s wrong. What Wente describes in that quote has nothing at all to do with “cultural appropriation” (it’s the opposite), and everything to do with assimilation. At no point does he describe the dominant culture taking from the dominated culture. This shows that Wente does not even know the meaning of appropriation. However, by accident, especially in making us correct his mistake, he points to the actual reality of Canadian history, which has been one of assimilation, rooted in utter disdain for Aboriginal cultures, expressed in a desire to beat the living crap out of those cultures and turning Aboriginals into clones of white people. Aboriginals did not “appropriate” modern, Western, Christian, individualist and capitalist lifeways: these were forced on them. There is no such thing as an involuntary appropriation. It’s the same history of assimilation that made it possible for Wente to write in English. Canadian policy was never about making Canadian settlers more like Aboriginals, to encourage appropriation—to even suggest that is a terrible perversion of Canadian history.
The history of residential schools in Canada is not a history of “cultural appropriation”: it is a history of assimilation. In 1883, Canada’s first Prime Minister, Sir John A. Macdonald, explained the residential schools policy to the House of Commons:
“Indian children should be withdrawn as much as possible from the parental influence, and the only way to do that would be to put them in central training industrial schools where they will acquire the habits and modes of thought of white men”.
(That will take us to the next section and how genocide has been conceptually mangled by deliberately and confusingly rephrasing it as “cultural genocide”). The policy of residential schooling was explicitly an assimilationist one—as expressed in the famous words of Duncan Campbell Scott, the Deputy Superintendent of Indian Affairs from 1913 to 1932:
“I want to get rid of the Indian problem….Our objective is to continue until there is not a single Indian in Canada that has not been absorbed into the body politic, and there is no Indian question, and no Indian Department.”
It was a policy of “taking the Indian out of the child,” and abolishing the Indian altogether. The idea was not to create a tabula rasa as an end in itself, but to erase and replace, by forcibly converting the child to the dominant, British Canadian culture. It is closer to being cultural imperialism than it is to cultural appropriation. However, since the authorized discourse in the elite-controlled media has successfully narrowed the vocabulary of Canadians, no such mention of imperialism ever surfaces, in any context.
We can conclude that the problem with the “cultural appropriation” idea, as deployed by gatekeepers, is that it either does not actually describe and explain the phenomenon to which it is assigned (and thus does not exist), or it does exist in other contexts but we are not told why that is anything other than the normal course of cultural diffusion. We also know that cultural appropriation is not a prominent part of Canadian history, which instead emphasized assimilation of indigenous peoples. Finally, in some cases, what is being marked as cultural appropriation is instead actually cultural exploitation, which is more than just borrowing. Do you get the sense then we are being told there is a cultural appropriation “problem,” when none actually exists?
As for cultural exploitation, that is not an easy issue to settle. Numerous Aboriginal hip-hop musicians in Canada borrow from US sources without apology, just as in central Australia there are Aboriginal reggae bands, playing their music without sending shiploads of tribute over to Jamaica. This is not to mention the many dozens of zombie films made over the past century, all done without paying royalties to Haiti. (Perhaps the producers of The Walking Dead were very clever in avoiding use of the Z-word.) The problem lies with the intentional spread of rules of “intellectual property” by governments and international bodies working in the service of a neoliberal political economy. An expert class of managers arrogates to itself the right to instruct and aribitrate over how we can learn from and be inspired by other cultures. So much for “market freedoms” then, and so much for “globalization,” when the very upholders of both of these are revealed to be little more than rent-seeking racketeers.
Enter the lawyer: Olufunmilayo Arewa is a professor of Law, at the University of California, Irvine, writing in The Conversation US, an online publication made possible by many of the usual giant capitalist US foundations and expeditionary philanthropists such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the Henry Luce Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation, and so forth. The “funders” vary by country, but are usually an assemblage of banks and foundations. The Conversation is part of a growing trend that Pierre Bourdieu warned about decades ago in Homo Academicus (pp. 112, 119, 120, 267, 268, 297): the blurring of the lines between academia and journalism which reduces the autonomy of universities, makes them answerable to market audiences, and introduces journalistic standards of renown into a field previously dominated by standards of scholarship.
Thus it is not surprising to see Arewa’s piece in The Conversation—it is not so much predictable as it is almost mandatory that it would appear there. A lawyer, writing as a journalist, based in a major US university, backed by powerful foundations, all of which gives us a glimpse into the dense cluster of special interests that have been vested in the manufactured debates around cultural appropriation. This is a field dominated by elites—academics, journalists, bankers, lawyers—not an organic outgrowth of some popular outcry existing at the “grass roots” of indigenous communities.
Not to keep the phenomenon safely out of the reach of such special interests, Arewa (in loose language uncharacteristic of careful lawyers) blurs the lines between cultural appropriation and cultural exploitation. The accent is on exploitation, an arena fraught with danger, with loud claims for compensation, restitution, reparations, profit sharing, royalties, etc. An example of this deliberate slippage is where she writes, “borrowing may become appropriation when it reinforces historically exploitative relationships” which she quickly follows with a mention of opportunities to “control or benefit” from cultural “material”. I do not mean to suggest that Arewa is careless, sloppy, or lazy—I think that the language that bleeds from one concept to another is deliberate, intentional, and vested with special interests. The aim is to produce a “problem,” a problem that can only be solved in the legal arena and the marketplace. It is a neoliberal problem of diversity management, that demands neoliberal technologies of control and capital accumulation. Culture is turned into “material” that can be “controlled” by someone. (Who? You can guess.)
There is nothing ambiguous about this: if you read Arewa’s piece you will see the words above immediately followed by a section devoted to artifacts, museums, and a bunch of dollar figures—translation: culture as property, held by institutions, sold in the marketplace. It is the finale of her piece that gives away the motive in writing it:
“An understanding of both borrowing and appropriation should be incorporated into legal, business and other institutional frameworks. In fields such as intellectual property law, greater recognition of the power structures underlying borrowing in different contexts is important. This can be an important starting point for blocking future exploitative cultural flows. And it can help prevent extraction of more cultural booty”.
This squarely places the discussion of cultural appropriation in the neoliberal zone, where everything is commodified and then privatized and thus subject to the “rule of law”. Culture—whatever that was—becomes a matter of “intellectual property law”. Luckily, being a lawyer herself, Arewa is one of those who presumably stands to benefit. And that is the trick behind all of these attempts to regulate our speech and social interactions: subject them to regulations, censure and censor violators, and create capital for specialists who appear, as if by magic, to expertly mediate the whole problem…a problem they conceptually manufactured in the first place. The final gift is that the rules and norms of capitalism can be used to heal the rifts caused by capitalism—this really is magic.
There is one more area, a critically important one, where the conceptual wizardry produces benefits for elites, and losses for those who are supposedly meant to be protected, and that is the Canadian invention of “cultural genocide”.
It was shocking to see Canadians accepting the notion that the history of residential schooling—where children were forcibly taken away from their Aboriginal parents, to school them out of their Aboriginal heritage—has been officially defined in Canada as “cultural genocide”. Conveniently, there is no such concept under international law, and it thus whitewashes Canada’s reputation for what it really is: a state guilty of genocide.
Of course, no state guilty of genocide has the political capital needed to lecture and threaten target states of the periphery. “Cultural genocide” avoids that problem, and is useful for evading any talk of UN sanctions and Security Council resolutions.
There was no conceptual need to speak in terms of “cultural” genocide—everything that is essential to the history of residential schooling is already covered by the existing UN charter on the “Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide,” and has been since 1948. The key text comes under Article II, particularly point (e):
Article II
In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
(a) Killing members of the group; (b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; © Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; (d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; (e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
A lawyer quoted by the CBC, reportedly made the following points: “Schabas compares the use of the term genocide to a very hot spice that ‘transforms something from being rather old news into something that gets the headlines’. Sometimes, he says, it also makes it harder for victims to reconcile with the perpetrator groups”. That is one remarkable statement. Not only is the history of residential schooling in Canada not “old news” (it only ended in 1996), the nature of the term being like “hot spice” never stops Canada or other Western nations from liberally applying it whenever convenient, against target nations abroad. Wholesale fictions of “genocide” were invented about Libya in 2011, to justify NATO’s intervention—few, let alone in the CBC, were ever heard to say, “Hold on now, that’s a hot spice term, and if we use it then that might prevent the victims from reconciling with the Gaddafi government”. Instead, much of this CBC article, in the ample tradition of liberal hypocrisy, casts about for the appropriate legal scholar to lament about how, aw shucks, it’s too bad we do not have “cultural genocide” in international law…when the current convention against genocide already covers exactly what happened with Canadian residential schools. Such blindness is not incompetence, it is wilful. It was sad to see indigenous leaders abide by all this, as if they had won something significant, instead of acknowledging the political fraud for which their experience was hijacked. How ironic then that this indigenous “leader” should declare: “If you can’t identify what the issue is, then you really don’t know what you’re working with”.
In my book, Ruins of Absence, Presence of Caribs, the central concept and argument focused on the “reengineering of indigeneity,” where indigenous identity became vested with the interests of specialists emanating from several arenas surrounding the Caribs in Trinidad & Tobago: the national state, the Catholic church, the mass media, local businesses enterprises, local government, academia, tourism, NGOs, and international governmental organizations. We see a similar vesting of special interests in the fabrication of the “cultural appropriation crisis” and the story is not one of mendacious leftists (there are those too), but should instead be seen as reflecting neoliberal capitalist patterns.
Lawyers, professors, journalists, and other self-appointed gatekeepers: these are some of the specialists, sanctioned by the media and governments, who litigate and adjudicate the neoliberal commerce in culture, that is, culture turned into property and removed far beyond sharing, parody, mutual insults, and all the interactions that make up everyday social life. To be clear, never once have we heard any sort of popular indigenous outcry over “appropriation”—what we are made to hear instead are the voices of lawyers, academics, media pundits, and diversity consultants who show up with business cards, courtesy of the new cultural policing. We are therefore dealing with interests vested in reengineering culture into a series of specialist turfs, accompanied by calls for recognition, rewards, and fees. Regulation of culture by the rule of the marketplace generates bureaucracies, and these bureaucracies create capital for the culture brokers that arise to take advantage of the opportunity. Even better, the manufacture of conflict over “appropriation” produces the space for appointed experts to intervene, and to inevitably acquire capital. This is the path of culture that is instrumentalized, or even weaponized.

“archer3-13: could dheginsea have done something else though. Non intervention is his prevailing flaw, the game spells that out, but the situation involving his kids more so falls on almedha making a mistake and ashnard being a dick. Outside of open warfare or sending more dragons to be captured and abused, your options at that point would be either negotiation [wich isnt happening with ashnard and is implied to be the reason rajaion offered himself up to ashnard in the first place] or trying to get a secondary power involved, which could be constrained as picking sides and possibly inciting war which dheginsea is commited to not doing. Theres also potentially kidnapping but that leaves open the question of who you get to do it and if they could even do it and the fallout of getting caught.
Additionally you could argue that time is a secondary factor in this, dragons consider even 4 or so years to be a relatively brief time [like a days worth given ena and nasirs reactions to ikes dont be a stranger] which if we stagger that out over however old soren is is like... the feeling of 3 days worth of time for a dragon. speculation on my part but it is possibly something to consider.
Like this isnt a dheginsea did nothing wrong sort of thing, a major aspect of his and lehrans characters are old sins coming back to bite them in the ass, but getting upset at him over ameldha and rajaon feels like splitting hairs over something thats not particularly his fault and only tangently related to his isolation policies.  Especially since tibarn already has a better drag for him about something thats a direct result of his isolation policies
Tibarn: I never would have believed that one day I'd be facing off against you. Life sure is funny, sometimes. Dheginsea: Even you, Tibarn? Don't make me kill you. You haven't got a chance. Tibarn: Don't be so sure about that. You just might be surprised. Besides, you've got a lot to answer for, Dheginsea. You'll finally pay the price for all those years of inaction and indifference as your kin were butchered and enslaved. Dheginsea: You shortsighted fool, you still don't understand... All right, I'm waiting. Show me what you've got.”
Yes.  He could have. While negotiation may not have worked, it was an option to try.  While all-out warfare isn’t something dragons want to get directly involved in, that’s still a choice.  If he’s that worried about it, endorsing the other nations’ retaliation against Daein would’ve been a start.  But at the top of this long list of possibilities, had they ended Daein’s threat outright, the rest of the continent wouldn’t have been drawn into war either.  The medallion’s pretty specific about the scope of war needed to unleash Yune, and one nation’s battle wouldn’t be enough.  As someone with the most immediate knowledge of what was happening, had he acted and put them down sooner, things could have resolved even faster.  Not to mention if we draw this back further, had the dragons stepped in to intervene in the history of laguz oppression, Daein might not even be the way it is in the first place.  This can get granular, but yes, person with the most ancient authority on the planet, you did in fact have options and influence enough to avert this disaster.  You can argue the skewed perspective of time thing, but skewed perception of time doesn’t skew your judgment, and when you have a whole squad just go missing and presumed dead, reasonable judgment’s gonna tell you this is something you should at least start preparing to address.  Not to mention, while a personal nitpick, I can’t stand that idea of just “perception of time is skewed” as a reason for years-long inaction.  There’s no sense of scale that would make an entire year’s worth of events seem like nothing happened.
I mean, I have mentioned that the major problem is his isolationist policies being the major issue, several times yesterday.  The children thing comes from three points:
1) It’s honestly the best narrative showing of the intensity of his policy.  A foreign leader remaining neutral in a situation where other similar nations are under threat but they aren’t?  That’s easy to do.  But this was his own kids.  Kinda hits closer to home.  Yet he still didn’t move.  That’s why the kids thing sticks so hard.  Because if you’re not even going to break that policy to do the right thing for your own children, you weren’t gonna move for anything at all.
2) The Heroes paralogue wanted to focus on him being sad about the loss of his kids, which, given everything, is still totally his fault, and therefore the paralogue’s story just wasn’t working in the way it intended.
3) This whole discussion started on a post where I expressed that this whole kids thing would be a sticking point for Ninian.  It was meant to be specific to how she would respond to him, if she knew about his history and actions, not my own stance on “this is the worst thing Dheginsea ever did.”  Pretty sure tacitly endorsing genocide and slavery of other laguz through perpetual inaction wins that contest.

Note
I hope you dont think im a troll or hating on you w my differing opinion on the whole stationary shop issue but here's something to consider: I feel like you are making stationary shops and their promoters appear evil ): they may charge high prices for their goods but people who would pay for such stationary are often people with the ability to do so. These students are priviledged in a sense and willingly buying the products. Its hard to feel sorry for them.
(cont) Exploitation is everywhere, which doesnt make it alright but it also means that these shops shouldnt be demonized when all they are doing is making priviledged students pay higher prices for stuff that they can get at lower prices if they know where to go to ): this form of “exploitation” is no where as harmful as sweatshops in poorer countries that manufacture goods that our consumeristic society uses. Nike, h&m, zara etc. Thus these shops and their promoters really dont deserve to be demonized and disliked to such an extent. Esp so for the promoters since they play a less significant role in this entire thing ): its like accusing a model/advertiser that advertises a shoe from nike of exploitating the poor labour. And since we buy these products and support these brands (even iphones - China’s electronic sweatshops) are we not all responsible for exploitation? Should we all receive negativity?
SORRY FOR MY LATE REPLY and thank you for your question.
‘this form of “exploitation” is no where as harmful as sweatshops in poorer countries’ The thing is, just because there is a worse example out there it doesn’t mean we should let things slide. you might as well say ‘suicide in first-world countries is not THAT big an issue compared to ALL THE STARVING CHILDREN IN AFRICA. you can’t just conflate different issues across class/national lines. ‘first-world’ issues have to be considered within their own context. you are right when you identified that there is exploitation everywhere, but it doesn’t make some forms of exploitation more/less unethical than others. w.r.t. the ‘demonising’, or as you put it, ‘making [them] appear evil’, i think there is a distinction between evil and unethical. personally i don’t really believe in the concept of absolute good VS absolute evil, so yeah i think they’re highly unethical but i wouldn’t go so far to say that they are evil…?
‘Thus these shops and their promoters really dont deserve to be demonized and disliked to such an extent’ well i mean this is my personal opinion and if i really dislike promoters it’s kind of?? my choice?? it feels like you’re attributing all the criticism lobbied at promoters/shops to me or yuke, when all we did was voice our own opinions. if many people agree with us, that’s their personal choice. i’m not sure what you mean by ‘such an extent’ but i’m assuming you’re referring to them getting anonymous hate comments. i don’t think either yuke or i can be held responsible for this. i’ve said this on my IG before but personally i do not endorse anonymous hate comments of any kind. people should stand by their opinions with their real identities at stake, not hide behind anonymity like a coward.
‘Should we all receive negativity?’ i’d just like to say that this whole ‘negativity’ accusation is fallacious and lazy reasoning. anything that goes against one’s personal belief can be conveniently labelled ‘negativity’. there’s a difference between spreading information and spreading negativity..? but if you’re talking about getting anonymous hate comments, like i’ve said, i don’t believe in censorship so i think people can say/create/write wtv they want, so long as they’re ready to stand by their words and face the consequences. anons who send ‘negativity’ are in the wrong.
‘Esp so for the promoters since they play a less significant role in this entire thing ):’ do they? do you honestly think unethical shops like kps can have such a dominance over the studygram community IF IT WEREN’T FOR PROMOTERS? i don’t think so. i think they chose their marketing strategy very cleverly. they chose students with a following who are more inclined towards monetising their followers because they knew that these students with big accounts would not have the business knowhow to ask for their money’s worth, so they can pay these promoters peanuts. they knew that big study accounts have immeasurable persuasive power over other, smaller study accounts, so by sharing 1 pen on their studygram accounts they can increase sales with just the cost of having given that 1 pen to the promoter. they also knew that these promoters did not really see their followers as people or friends, just people they could turn into customers, because most people (especially young children) are naturally selfish.
