I love when fans say that Darius would be better as Hunter's mentor and not parent, but then never actually explore that mentorship and only bring up Darius' and Hunter's relationship to bash Darius and still judge him as if he is a failed neglectful parent.

And by 'love' i mean i hate it, it is so unsubtle most of the times, and usually in the same post/fic Darius' role in Hunter's story is dismissed all together.

i decided to make this it’s own post instead of ranting in the tags of somebody else’s.

if I could browse the evan/sam tag without seeing k mentioned, i could get on board with the shippers. not the ship itself, the community. conceptually speaking, i have no problem with anybody’s shipping habits. i love the chemistry between danielle and brennan.

my issue is that 1.) k bashing lives alongside the actual shipping to the point of being unavoidable and 2.) the opinion that ‘romantic love can’t heal someone but it can help the process.’ both of these things together give me the impression that people don’t actually disagree with the idea that evan can be fixed with love, they just think k was doing it wrong.

so, yeah, i still think people are projecting a lot of self-hatred onto k for having done the same type of shit that they themselves do or want to do for evan. if there was the ability to separate that noise out from the sam/evan shipping i wouldn't say anything, but as it stands, i hate seeing two characters of color being triangulated around a white love interest like this. because k/evan happened canonically, we don't get to let it live 100% in the realm of fantasy fulfillment, we have to deal with the messiness that happened between them. sam/evan gets to be tender because they don't have that baggage, we don't see the points of friction that would exist if they were together, and some people are using THAT to mean that it would inherently be healthier. i've heard at least one person complaining that folks are being too 'moralistic' about sam/evan and again, i can't help but contrast that critique to fan treatment of k this season. we can’t apply a moralistic lens to k and then put it away now that you like this other dynamic better. what it feels like is happening is that there is a portion of fans that do want evan to be rehabilitated thru romantic partnership and because that's the fantasy, k deserves to be punished for failing at it and sam can be the clean slate. i don't think any of these characters deserve that, nor does that square with how they are being played in mismag itself.

And how this even relates back to William with pittrap/agony Bonnie/dadtrap being this like coalescing ball of William's misery and failures as a father in a forever pursuing monstrous beast that only knows how to lash out and keep everyone where /he/ wants them (whether through the trauma of losing his children or his own control issues causing this behavior is debatable)

I don't even know what I want to think of it but something about it all, just the constant reiterating of Oz's loving family in the story that's fermented in familial corrosion and decay for a decade now just makes me stare

Recent surges of XY fanart is reminding me about how a part of me gets sad whenever Diantha + Augustine + Lysandre are presented as a trio when to me Malva should be the fourth to the quartet, and like, of course I get why (her relevance isn't really apparent until the postgame and the other three are the 'faces' of the region, french flag colours and so on and so forth) so I have no ill will towards that sort of thing but

It does feed into this sort of meta-analysis turned headcanon for me where no matter how much publicity she has she's never really in the spotlight, despite her position and her presence she's relegated to a secondary pedestal, excluded from ever really sitting at the top. you might say she's got a complex about it

That's what annoys me the most, any mention of them comes with people going on and on about how they're not the same as before like how would you know that? The other day, I was watching this cute Tiktok of them and then made the mistake of checking the comments silly me. Every other comment was either but Pedri is closer to Ferran or Gavi is always with Fermin now like please why does it matter? Just enjoy them being cute and move on. It's the same for Gavi's tiktoks with people other than Pedri it's like people can't understand that those two can exist away from each other.

I think if there's one thing that truly, truly exhausts me about fandom now is when people very vehemently and passionately take sides and hate certain characters over others and dedicate entire blogs just to how much they hate those characters

it's not even in a "be nice, let people enjoy things" kind of way, like that's whatever, I don't need anyone's permission to enjoy anything.

it's more that it's just exhausting. it's just so much work to hate a character like that, especially if you're the type of blog to seek out empirical evidence to back up your viewpoints.

it's one thing to dislike a character and to talk about it. it's another thing to start like, a full-blown campaign trying to get other people on your side. aren't you tired?? don't you have like, actual real life things to do? go clean your room.
