does anyone have any lying down setups for drawing/painting/ANYTHING else lol
what I am learning from my imp today is that if I am lying flat I can get my bpm down to 75 but the moment I sit up it goes to 95, and the lowest I can get it while sitting up is 85
I think if I had more activity options while lying down that were not Be On Phone, I would be less bored and therefore do less overexerting myself in order to simply relieve boredom (problem that I have frequently)
#pls dont be like 85 isnt so bad! or whatever the numbers are numbers that show me how hard my heart is working simply to be upright#by not being upright i can be gentler on my heart and body is the point#and conserve energy etc. to avoid crashes#sick

What I'm getting from the "let Marcille be conservative" and Netflix erasing Sokka's misogyny discussions is actually a piece of pretty helpful character building device.
I have a hard time letting characters mess up - let alone make mistakes that impact the story as a whole - and I think I'm starting to grok why.
A lot of my characters' flaws fall into Anime Badass Flaws range, and that's not in itself a bad thing, *but*: what I've also done is planed smooth some smaller flaws to satisfy an audience I don't even actually have yet. Kill the cop in your brain etc.
My characters don't just need Angsty Brooding On The Rooftop flaws, they need Regular People Flaws. I'm talking shit that makes people go 😬 and suck air between their teeth, like Marcille's old-fashioned views and Sokka's sexism.
I'm actually gonna veer and talk about ATLA's character writing and how crucial it is to the story because I totally missed it until I started thinking about this very specific thing.
Sokka being sexist is crucial to the story. It's how he pisses off Katara until she accidentally frees Aang, bringing him back to the timestream and kickstarting the entire show! Speaking of kickstarting the entire show, Aang's avoidance tendencies are what put him on ice in the first place. The story would be wildly different if he hadn't run away, and he might not have run away if the elders he'd once depended upon had made their concerns more accessible to him, instead of trying to control his life and take away his most important guardian.
Sokka absorbing feminism and changing his ways is his first, and possibly biggest character arc in the show. Sokka being sexist impacts his actions at Kyoshi Island. I have to wonder - the Kyoshi Warriors seemed to enjoy a certain level of popularity on their isolated home island. Sokka crashing in and disrespecting them might have lead them to realize that the outside world didn't have the same veneration and views as they held. This might have lead to Suki and her gang heading out into the Earth Kingdom, which has impact in several later episodes, to say the least. Suki's presence is the reason Sokka and Toph survive the finale.
Every character in the show has little human flaws like that - not just Epic Anime Flaws, but stuff that makes them a little bit unlikeable, just like real people have. (And being unlikeable makes them more likeable because they feel more complex and real in turn.) Everyone's flaws affect the story in some way - Zuko's flaws motivate an enormous chunk of the plot and have substantial impact on the Gaang well before he joins up.
Iroh is so likeable that it's easy to forget that he spent months sieging a city and presumably letting hundreds of soldiers to die, only to pull out when his son died. He's wise and friendly to Zuko and the Gaang, but he has done some pretty selfish stuff that has affected the course of history (and that's not even getting into his casual sexism). He could have been written as totally flippant, or Angstlord Extrordinaire, but instead he's a complex and hurting old man who still has the time and energy to try and help the people in his life.
What I'm realizing is that to really drive a plot, and make characters feel alive, is they gotta be a little Problematic. I shaved off Ray's chivalry bc it was problematic, not thinking about how that means that trait causes Problems, or in other words, generates conflict that drives a story. If I want my characters to feel complex and alive, I think they need to suck a little bit! I think sometimes you gotta let your character be a True Believer in Astrology, or is rude to the waitstaff, or will walk 2 miles rather than pay for a cab, or what have you! They gotta be a little dumb and messed up! Sure, this character has no self-esteem, but how does that affect others? How does it make them uncomfortable and change their actions, and not just in a platonically perfect way to 'fix' him?
It's pretty interesting to chew over implications like that - I've read and absorbed "let your characters have flaws" over and over, but only recently come to realize that means they need to suck a little bit. They need to be kind of uncool. They need to have traits that would make you wrinkle your nose at if they were real people. Etc.

The Machine God Wants You To Eat Rocks
Needless to say I think the current “AI” trend (in 2024) is a lot of bollocks. It’s basically either a autocomplete on steroids or a statistical visual/auditory refinement systems, driven by too much energy going into overpriced chips for software trained by underpaid labor. It doesn't do what it says, it’s a running joke, and now that it’s shoehorned into everything, it’s going to have an awesome chance to fail repeatedly and spectacularly.
We’ve heard the jokes and the hallucinations. Eat a small rock a day. Pizza glue. Ignoring all previous instructions.
I’ve speculated on what’s next for Silicon Valley when AI crashes, but having noticed some IT types are willing to play footsie with any grifter, I think one possibility is actually religion.
We’ve seen that some Silicon Valley grifters will try anything and kiss up to anyone. History shows us crypto scams, shameless political pandering, and, well, anything. What’s a large block of people you can grift to, premade for the right pitch? Conservative “Christians” who have been shaped by various opportunists into both a political force, and one with obvious buttons to push.
I can foresee one possible scam being some AI-bro claiming some divine mandage. It might sound preposterous, but people always tried to sell computer graphic apes. Let me speculate on a recipe someone may try even if it may not work.
Let’s take some AI promoter who’s company is not doing so hot and maybe facing a few investigations. What could he do?
First, pretend to have a religious conversion. It’s certainly worked for any number of opportunists, especially ones trying to avoid their past coming after them.
Second, hook up with some religious figure who will take your money/time/publicity and is politically connected. There’s plenty and they probably have their own ideas about how to make AI sound like some divine mission.
Third, claim that AI is part of God’s plan or something similar. A gift from god, a divine plan, whatever. You might even create some “Biblical” AI fed religious stuff from the Bible to things your patrons wrote and maybe hint you’ll get divine guidance.
Fifth, exploit your political and other connections to get more donations, investment, etc. Hook up with whatever crackpot investors you can. If anyone pulls out claim they’re a religious bigot.
Sixth, possibly skip this AI thing eventually into the ministry or a new startup or something. Maybe just start a side project until you can ditch this. However, you might find a whole new audience and political influence.
Dumb? Stupid? I’d have thought so a few years ago. Sadly I see this as viable for a down-on-their-luck AI bro or someone that wants to ride the religion gravy train. It’s a simple blueprint, a path trod by many, and of course you get to combine two culty areas – tech enthusiasts and religion.
I feel sad I can imagine this. Give people some Biblical flair to AI, dress it up a bit, talk divine mission, throw in a weird chatbot, and people will probably back you. It’s like a terribly stupid take on the Adeptus Mechanicus, the machine-worshippers from Warhammer 40K.
I suppose this tells me just what a dumb time we live in that I can make this stupid speculation and feel it makes sense.

We Humans our own worst Enemy
Nature underpins our economy, society and our very existence. Our forests, rivers oceans and soils provide us with the food we eat, the air we breathe and the water we drink and irrigate our crops with. Nature is free and for that reason, we often undervalue the impact it has on our very lives. Without nature and life around us, we would cease to exist.
I want you to think back to a time you can remember that made you feel happy. Most likely you will think of something where you were outdoors enjoying nature. For me, it would be on a family vacation to Mexico where my brothers and I were riding the waves into shore while sand coats our light blonde hair. We giggled and looked at one another as the waves scooped us up and crashed us back to shore. I always have been amazed at nature and especially bodies of water. Even now I love to ride the waves while surfing and always have to stick my hand in the water when I see it to feel its cool embrace. Even when I was a baby I was nicknamed “fish” because I never wanted to get out of the water once I got in. Doesn’t help that I am a Pisces!
Retrieved from: https://www.nps.gov/im/medn/sandy-beaches-lagoons.htm
As research has proven time and time again nature makes humans happy, less irritable and more creative (Mayer et al, 2009). I think my love for nature started when I was a child. I loved discovering the world in my very own backyard and am very grateful that my parents gave me the freedom to do so. I grew tadpoles, identified trees and played in the river and there was never a time where I was happier. Even now I love to go for nature walks, am an avid gardener who took on growing cannabis plants this summer and plan on doing it again this year. I also grow vegetables and have developed an obsession with houseplants. I think quarantine has given me more time to develop hobbies, I want to know if you have found any pastimes to do over the lockdown?
Photo from: my indica GDP plant I grew this summer. Photo taken 10/10/20 right before harvest.
As a future early childhood educator, I believe I have a personal ethical duty to provide my students with a rich understanding of our world. Children love to explore the outside world and offering them time and resources to expand their knowledge about the ecosphere is one of the most beneficial things we can do for their development (Kruger et al, 2010). Nature can provide countless opportunities for discovery, creativity and problem-solving. Exploring the natural world allows children to learn through play and experimentation because it allows children to think the question and make hypotheses developing inquisitive minds. Spending time in nature is also essential for cognitive development and executive function (Kruger et al, 2010). Children will also develop a sense of love for their world and want to continue to be stewards of the earth by protecting it when they grow up. We know climate change is the biggest issue humanity currently faces and we need to make a change NOW to avoid irreversible damage for not only the future inhabitants but are. It is probable that in our lifetimes we will see even more devastating effects of climate change so it is up to us and future generations to make a change right now.
Teaching future leaders and citizens about the planet I have a responsibility to allow scholars to explore nature in their own way to build their sense of place. By exposing children to nature early it will help imprint a love for the natural world, which is increasingly more important as the earth is dying. Humanity is barrelling towards a ghastly future of mass extinctions, climate crisis, health issues and more. Events that can only be prevented if world leaders take environmental threats more seriously. From forest fires, oil spills, overfishing, deforestation, overhunting, gas emissions to massive garbage piles, increased use of fossil fuels etc. these are all human-made creations that are killing a planet that has thrived for over 4 billion years. It is only in the past century that we have begun experiencing this crisis fuelled by the industrial revolution breeding greedy capitalistic ideologies.
Amazing video by 16yo Greta Thunberg that explains the importance of acting NOW for climate change.
Retrieved from: https://www.ted.com/talks/greta_thunberg_the_disarming_case_to_act_right_now_on_climate_change/up-next?language=en
Although it may not be appropriate to talk to children about how humanity is going towards the path of extinction it is important to teach them about climate change and what we can do to help. If we want to make a change it has to start now, scientists predict that by the year 2050 the global population will reach 9.7 billion, which is 2 billion more than today (Kossin et al, 2020). New historical climate data project the earth's temperature will cross a threshold for dangerous warming (+1.5C) between 2027 and 2042 if climate change efforts are not in place to reverse the damage humans have caused (Kossin et al, 2020).
Retrieved from: https://www.nrdc.org/stories/your-guide-talking-kids-all-ages-about-climate-change
Researchers predict the best path to limiting warming involved cutting net human carbon dioxide emissions to net zero by 2050 if we want to stop the damage we have caused. In order to do this, we all need to work together, when possible walk or ride your bike to avoid carbon emissions, carpool and use public transit, drive low carbon vehicles if possible. Other ways to reduce CO2 emissions include taking fewer and longer aviation vacations, fly economy, don’t fly on private jets, insulate and seal your home, make energy-efficient a primary consideration when choosing a new furnace, AC unit, dishwasher, or fridge (ensure an energy star label), turn off lights when not using, add solar panels to the roof of your home, don’t set the thermostat too high or low, eat local food decrease beef and dairy consumption, be conservative of water usage and reduce reuse and recycle. High-temperature extremeness, heavy precipitation, glacier and snow and shrinking and sea ice are retreating. Seas are warming, rising and becoming more acidic. All this leads to an imbalance between earth and the live that inhabitants it
Overall, the world is an amazing place full of wonder but in recent years we have let the planet down. A once thriving full of live biospehere is now dying because of habitat destruction, distribution of invasive species, hunting climate change and overall humans. I want to educate the future by instilling a sense of wonder and lust for nature and a need to protect its beauty. I hope humanity finally learns we are our own greatest enemy and are able to come together to make changes before our untimely demise.

Stop Fitspo
“Instead of taking on these fad diets that fitspo culture was encouraging, for me, it was healthier to eat a balanced meal, exercise regularly, have a positive mindset, and recognize that calories aren’t evil, they’re vital.”
A contribution by Surah Azlan
Disclaimer: This article is about my journey with an eating disorder. It should not serve as a prescriptive way to deal with eating disorders, and does not represent everyone’s individual challenges.
“You should eat less than 900 calories a day, that’s how the K-Pop idols stay in shape”
“No rest days. You have to commit to the grind. No pain, no gain”
“Cut out rice off your diet, it’ll make you fat. Go keto instead!”
These kind of advices used to always echo in my head. Weighing at 84kg as a teen, I grew up feeling ashamed of my body and dreamed of losing weight. I’m now 47kg as a young adult, and I get asked all the time how “I did it”, like it was a victory. But really, it was a long, slow process of growth and understanding myself.
Like with many others, it all started on social media, with these so-called fitspo posts. Short for fitness inspiration, fitspo is the trend of posting pictures of a fit & healthy lifestyle in hopes to motivate others. On the surface, it sounded like a good thing. With millions of followers, fitspo culture supposedly encourages people to exercise and achieve their “dream body”. Social media would be full with pictures of people showing off their slim waistlines, six-pack abs, thigh gaps, etc. Feeling inspired, I started off by watching Chloe Ting videos, tracking my calorie intake, intermittent fasting, and going to spinning classes 3 to 4 times a week.
It felt amazing at first. I was dropping down from a size M to an XS. Exercising became my favourite pastime, and others even looked up to my so-called fitness journey. I was becoming fitspo.
Like a rollercoaster soaring high, my journey also eventually had to go crashing down. It started taking over my life. Thoughts of calories, fear of gaining weight, and the urge to vomit my food crept up my mind. As if they were scratching my brain, these thoughts haunted me and everything I did. I lost sight of my work, my lifestyle, and the things that mattered to me. I could no longer appreciate what was in front of me, everything became just another step to a smaller, thinner body. The food on my table, the people I was with, my own happiness; all clouded by my desire to look good for others.
Things changed when a close friend started noticing my change in behaviour, “You need to go see a doctor. If this continues, you might develop anorexia,” she said.
“Eating disorder? What do you mean? You’re just on a diet and taking care of your body,” My father replied when I told him about my psychiatrist’s diagnosis of me.
The reality was that I was far from taking care of my own body. I ate the same 2 meals everyday (greek yoghurt for lunch and broccoli for dinner), not reaching my caloric needs, neglecting nutrition, and vomiting out anything I deemed as ”bad food”. The effects didn’t just stop at eating. I refused to go out with family & friends to restaurants because I would feel anxious, I wore sweaters indoors because my low body fat meant that I was always feeling cold, and I was constantly feeling weak & having fainting spells.
But people kept commenting on my body, saying things like:
“You look pretty now!”
“You’re so fit goals!”
“I wanna be thin like you too! Siuk eh!”
How could I ever want to abandon my destructive eating habits when I was constantly showered with the assurance and acceptance I felt I lacked all my life?
It’s been a tug of war between wanting to be healthy and looking my best, between what I want and what’s right for me. With the help of my doctor, proper nutritional advice, and the support from family & friends, I’m able to slowly make progress towards a healthier and more positive relationship with food.
My road to recovery made me realize that fitness is not about having a low digit on the scale and a flat stomach, it’s about my own goals and how it makes me feel both physically & mentally. I understand now that what I was doing previously was counter-intuitive, as consuming less calories meant that my metabolism was slowing down in order to conserve more energy, thus leading to a weight loss plateau and possibly leading to binging. I would’ve been stuck in a vicious cycle of binging and purging. Other than that, my eating habits were putting me at risk of developing electrolyte imbalance, weak bones, and complications with fertility.
Doesn't sound very fitspo anymore.
Instead of taking on these fad diets that fitspo culture was encouraging, for me, it was healthier to eat a balanced meal, exercise regularly, have a positive mindset, and recognize that calories aren’t evil, they’re vital. We also need to acknowledge that health can be different for people based on their own specific needs. Health exists at every size, so there’s not one ideal representation of what a “healthy” person looks like, which was what fitspo was conveying. What’s more, we need to recognize that bodies change and adapt, and oftentimes it’s not within our control, so we should avoid making unsolicited comments about others’ bodies.
Fitspo culture and the whole gym-rat wave is a double edged sword. If it makes you happy, it’s good to strive for a fit, healthy lifestyle, but if you let it consume you and allow weight loss to dictate every action you take, it easily spirals to an eating disorder that threatens the very life you are trying to improve. We need to be more self-compassionate and recognize that nobody’s perfect, and no body is perfect either.

Elephant Mountain 50 miler – Race Wrap Up
Taken me a few days to get this one out just like it took a few hours to finish this bad boy of a race 😊. As usual, big props to Aravaipa Running for an awesome event. Special thanks to the staff, volunteers, aid station workers, fellow runners, and all the folks that came out to support us. Thank you so much to Robin and the girls for meeting me at the finish line and our special friends, June & Pete for taking the time out of their day to also meet at the finish line (twice 😊)! The weather was epic, did get a bit warm in the later afternoon but a quick dip in the river crossing helped with that. I’ve shared many times that the people and the culture of this sport is what makes it so special. This day didn’t misrepresent that at all. What a great group of folks I had the special privilege to enjoy many miles with last Saturday. Overall, it was a fantastic day from the moment I woke up till the morning I went to bed (crashed on the couch after a few IPA’s 😊).
So where do we begin? Like most races, this was unique, but it was more about the time leading up. For those that may have been following the blog, I’ve made some slight indications of several changes happening. Well, last week was the official last week at my prior employer where I spent 11 years with Monday of this week, being the first day at my new one! Big changes and exciting stuff but last week, with it being my last days, saying goodbye to friends, shutting things down, and working with others, with some great help on both sides, navigate some challenges. The stress level, and anxiety were a bit high! That in mind, I was very much looking forward to this race and spending a good half a day in the mountains, on the trail, with my thoughts to work through all this madness that was unfolding. Or better said, I was looking to just get away from everything in my happy place 😊. Well, that mission was achieved but there was a portion that I was definitely not happy!!!
We are fortunate to have a few running companies out there that have been able to help create and outline, with the help of land permitting organization, local/state/federal governments, etc., protocols for the ultrarunning community to get back to racing. Aravaipa & Human Potential Running Series are two prominent ones that have blazed a trail here. One of the protocols are waves starts so I was happy when I had an extra 10 minutes to toe the line and I arrived just in time. Got to Cave Creek Regional Park at about 545am, got me gear lined up, shoes tied up, and a last few thoughts to myself and at 610am we were off, in the dark, with our headlamps. The first 11 miles are so climb up and down Go John Trail in Cave Creek Regional and then we head out of there on our way, northeast, to Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area. After the first climb about a mile in we have mostly flat trails, a road crossing or two, but overall, several gentile miles until we begin some climbing up the base of Elephant Mountain. Yes, it actually looks like an elephant. I had a picture that I didn’t share but from Cave Creek Regional you can make out the hump, head, and what can be taken for some tusks, it is a cool shot. Screw, it, I included the picture. That was on the way back to the finish later in the day with the sunsetting 😊. At this point is where I connected with the first of 3 amazing humans, I got to spend time on the trail with, Alan from Albuquerque. As we hiked up “the hump” we got chatting about running, life, kids, families, spouses, jobs, and a few other topics. Allen was is an awesome dude and really enjoyed spending time with him. Made the last few miles getting into Spur Cross Ranch fly by. Once there, Allen had a drop bag and was making some adjustments and I hit the aid station, grabbed some food, snacks, filled up the water bottled than I was on my way. From here, we were going to be traveling out, way out into the backcountry, circling Skull Mountain clockwise, hitting the Seven Springs aid station about 12 miles out, and then coming back to Spur Cross another 14 miles. My thought that the 12 miles out wouldn’t be that crazy since the climbing from the race info didn’t look bad. I wasn’t able to get too much detail about the way back but I knew that would be the warmest part of the day and no aid for 14 miles so I would need to be smart with my food, water, and energy. At this point, I was making good time, right where I felt was appropriate and the plan was to meet up with Robin and the girls back at Spur Cross, we figured around 2pm or so. (plan = punch in face 😊!) As I headed out from the aid station on the way to the Skull Mountain trailhead, there were about 4 river crossing. We had recently got rain but not too much where the water was high, but it was a good amount, but we were able to navigate through on rocks to avoid getting our feet wet. Wet feet at an ultra could mean blistered feed later in the day (foreshadowing 😊).
After a couple of miles Allen and I met back up and we were joined by Dana from Park City, UT. Dana is a mom, former restaurant owner, now going to school to be a pastry chef. We had a ton to talk about because I thought that was brave of her to be venturing out to chase a dream. Plus, we spoke of our kids, daughters, her oldest runs w/ her and they did Rim 2 Rim of the Grand Canyon. Just another great human being. The three of us had a lot of laughs as we climbed around Skull Mountain an the miles ticked off. Soon after we were joined by Kevin from Bozeman, MT. That’s right, 4 different folks, running the same race, right with each other, from 4 different places. Another great thing about this sport. Kevin made the trek down to AZ because MT wasn’t getting any snow and he was feeling bummed he couldn’t get on the slopes! He had recently started ultras when Covid started and he had done a few 50 milers and Rim 2 Rim 2 Rim of the Grand Canyon. We were all feeling great at this point, but Kevin did tell us a few stories of his few 50 milers where at mile 37 was where he bonked…. miscalculated his food intake he believed. Today however, he was fueling well, and we were moving. A couple of miles form the Seven Springs aid station and the turnaround point before the 14 miles back to Spur Cross, Kevin and I broke away a bit from Dana and Allen. Seven Springs was a very remote camping area that was spread out with a few bathrooms, so I took my time in this aid station, but only for about 5 minutes. During this time Kevin took off and Dana & Allen caught up. Allen grabbed some food and turned right around and I got a huge bean burrito, not kidding, feel like it weight two pounds, not typical for an aid station, but I was happy to have it for the need for calories over this next stretch was crucial. Right now, I was feeling sweet, body was in good shape, I was present, enjoying the day, and my plan of letting go of the past couple of weeks was on point. Allen and I spend a few moments together until his buddy was on his way into the aid station and at that point we broke apart. It was now time to take on the 14 miles back to Spur Cross and I want to be clear, these miles sucked. It took me about 10 minutes to work through that burrito and after I wanted to let that settle for a bit, so the plan was to hike for about 20 minutes. As I was moving, I noticed that the trail was in tough shape. The folks at Aravaipa mentioned, often, that this section of the race is remote, rugged, and very technical……. they were not joking. Not lying, this was the most rugged, and technical trail that I’ve ever been on. If it wasn’t the rocks, it was the dried-up craters from the horseshoes because of the recent rain. If that wasn’t it, it was the incessant climbing over and over. Any time that I felt a runnable section coming I would start to run only to be slowed because of the trail or a hill. It was a grinding on that back stretch. I was tracking time and as mentioned, the idea was to meet Robin and the girls at Spur Cross, this would be mile 36-37ish at 2pm. I was not going to make that and figured I was about an hour behind. However, no reception back in these parts but luckily, we had trackers on us. Even though, I was feeling some anxiety come on and didn’t want them, potentially waiting at that aid station for 60-90 minutes. I know they would have been fine, but I felt bad. Soon after that I ran out of water with about 4 miles to go and then the demons started talking to me, as they do during an ultra. At this point I was beginning to catch this dude in front of me and by the looks of things, he was having some similar thoughts about this back stretch. There was this one longer climbs we were doing, steep, where I was struggling and mostly feeling sorry for myself, it was a steep part and I just stopped. I was wrapped up in getting to the girls, getting to the aid station, the last 14 miles to the finish, no water, no cell service, climbing, blah, blah, blah……..then I just stopped, sucked down the rest of my water & looked around. The scenery was beautiful, and this was an area of this state I hadn’t scene and wanted to. I was deep in it and I was bitching about it. The thoughts a few minutes ago were about maybe calling it a day at Spur Cross. They didn’t last long though considering I directed my focus on getting to the aid station, sitting for a spelling refueling, rehydrating, taking a break for 20 minutes, seeing the family, and then we would crush those last 14 miles.
As I caught up to my fellow runner heading down the mountain and back to the river crossing, we had a few choice words together for that beast of a stretch we went through. I was only about an hour behind my anticipated time, but this was the warmest part of the day and the timing for the river couldn’t have been better. I wished my buddy the best and I first dipped my hat in the water then I decided to sit down and let the cool water rinse all the nastiness of those last 14 miles off me 😊. I was figuring, the family had a fresh pair of shoes, socks, and a new shirt for me at the aid station for the last stretch so all good. Well, when I got to the aid station, later than expected, the girls had gone thinking that I had already been through and were on their way to the finish line (they figured out where I was shortly after & met me at the finish right on time 😊). Wasn’t the first time and won’t be the last and it was all good. I got to the aid station, downed a ton of calories, water, electros (coke & Mt. Dew – yes, fantastic during an ultra), salt, and some fantastic avocado, hummus, lettuce wraps (thank you folks 😊) and I sat, for 20 minutes, as planned. Allen then came in and a few other folks. Some looked beat up and were taking their time and a few others looked good and were on their way. Allen got himself situation and was off and then I was about 5 minutes after him. After some downhills and another river crossing (BTW – socks and shoes dried and had now foot problems so all good there) …..there was another climb back up the southern face of Elephant Mountain. This is where I met up with Allen again and gave each other our encouragement. This is when I started feeling that pull to the finish line even though I still had about 10 miles or so left, I was in great shape. I had a gradual downhill, some straightaways, and some minimal climbs before I got back to Cave Creek Regional Park for the last two ascents. It was later in the day, the temps were cooling, my body was feeling great and I was on a smooth groove. As I started approaching the last aid station, 5-ish miles out from the finish I came across and “old friend,” Kevin. I had been several hours since I had seen him and as I passed, it seemed as though he was dealing with that 37-mile issue. He looked okay but was struggling a bit. He assured me that he was good and that he was looking to just get to that finish line; I knew he was going to make it. I hit the last aid station, feeling fantastic, and the ladies there gave me some final words of encouragement to get me through the finish line. As I made my way through the trails that have been familiar to me for the last two years, I felt comfortable, I felt right. I made the 2nd to last climb looking back at where I hit the all (see the picture 😊) and then it was a gradual decent before the final hike up. As I made my way up, I came across another runner and when we turned the corner to begin our final run down to the finish line, we both looked up and experienced and incredible sunset. I was too caught up in the moment and realized I was about 1.5 miles from the finish so did not snap a picture, I wish I did. That long stretch on the back of Skull Mountain that took me longer than expected made a for a great sunset.
The trail to the finish line passed right by my car, where I had parked 12 hours earlier and I laughed as I went by. I guess it was funny in the moment and then again when I finished and went back to the car 😊. It was great crossing that line, seeing my crew, having some jokes about the nonsense of a trail. What felt more satisfying is seeing Allen come across the line a little while later and us embracing in a hug, yeah, I know, Covid, but we spent about 25 miles of a 50 mile race together so what does it matter. It was a great pleasure sharing that time with him and it is something we will both take with us. Kevin crossed the line sometime later and he wasn’t feeling all that well……that whole 37th mile 😊 – but he did finish, and I was so proud of them both. I wasn’t able reconnect with Dana but know she was with her fiancée and that made her, and us, happy 😊. As I crossed the finish line, I finally got the opportunity to see my family for the 1st time of the day, and of course, June and Pete 😊. I spent the day with some amazing people and then another portion of the day by myself, with my thoughts. I shared some thoughts with a few new friends and got the chance to ask myself some tough questions. At the end of the day, it is funny, I did not know how this was going to play out. As I reflect on it, the only thing that could have made it a better experience was having a couple particular people enjoy in the journey.

How To Market FIRE BEGINNER
"When you are shed and also alone, darkness can trigger big troubles for you. The mind can become frightened not knowing what is around you when dark and also alone. It is very important to have a light readily available when creating your survival kit that you take with you each time you hike or enter into the woods simply in case.
One of the most usual kinds of lighting is the flashlight. These do function well however tend to run fire starting out of batteries. There are 2 alternatives. The initial is to keep added batteries with you as a just in case procedure. The second is to purchase a flashlight that is self-powered. Some can be shaken or cranked to generate the power they require which provides one practically perpetual lighting. A flashlight doesn't provide the best lights but it's better than nothing. It's a great idea to bring a smaller, spare flashlight due to the fact that the primary one could break in a crash.
Another source of light is your fire-starting tools. It's not constantly easy to start a fire but if you carry a few techniques to start a fire, you must be able to obtain one constructed. A fire will give you with an additional source of light. For one that is alone, a fire is rather calming since many things out in the wild are going to stay clear of the campfire that you develop. It's not such as straight light as what a flashlight is but will certainly light up the entire area. You require to make sure you actually understand just how to build one.
The one thing that you do intend to caution when making use of fire-starting materials to begin a light is that it is potentially unsafe if you are not experienced in fire starting. For example, we might be the best trouble solver in our office cubicle at the office yet when it pertains to practical, survival scenarios after that we might not be fully prepared. One method to avoid this catastrophe is to Exercise, Practice, Practice.
Probably as soon as a month or more timetable in a time where you and your family practices the procedure of what to do if the lights head out. You can do this if you are single, dealing with a roomie, or partner, and so on. Just turn off the lights for a night and technique utilizing your lighting equipment whether they be flashlights, rechargeable LED lanterns, fire-starting equipment, and so on
. CAUTION - if making use of candles and also any other open flame resource be sure that you are always monitoring its usage. Do not leave an open flame ignored. I repeat, never, ever before leave open fires neglected. Never ever make use of candle lights in a child's area or near drapery/curtains, or loose clothing or blankets. Better to be secure, right? In a youngster's space, we encourage making use of an energy-efficient LED light or nightlight that conserves energy without the threat of using open flame resources such as candles, lp lights, etc. Always, always err on the side of care!
youtube
These two resources of light can be offered without occupying excessive room or weight in your survival set. The goal with anything whether its light or another issue is to constantly have a backup to the key means of obtaining your goals.
If you are in a survival circumstance, you require light. It is necessary to have 2 resources of illumination. This can be your flashlight and your fire."

I Do Not Wish To Invest This Much Time Ablaze BEGINNER. How Around You?
"When you are shed and also alone, darkness can trigger significant problems for you. The mind can come to be afraid not knowing what is around you when dark and also alone. It's important to have a light source readily available when creating your survival kit that you take with you each time you hike or enter into the timbers simply in case.
One of the most common forms of lights is the flashlight. These do function well yet tend to run out of batteries. There are two choices. The first is to maintain extra batteries with you as a simply in case procedure. The second is to acquire a flashlight that is self-powered. Some can be drunk or cranked to create the power they need which gives one virtually perpetual lighting. A flashlight does not offer the best lighting but it's better than nothing. It's a good concept to bring a smaller, spare flashlight because the primary one could break in a crash.
An additional resource of light is your fire-starting devices. It's not always simple to start a fire but if you bring a couple of approaches to start a fire, you need to be able to obtain one built. A fire will certainly supply you with an additional resource of light. For one who is alone, a fire is instead comforting because many things out in the wild are going to stay clear of the campfire that you build. It's not such as direct light as what a flashlight is but will brighten the whole location. You need to see to it you really recognize how to develop one.
The one thing that you do wish to caution when utilizing fire-starting products to start a light source is that it is perhaps hazardous if you are not experienced in fire starting. As an example, we may be the most effective issue solver in our office work area at the office but when it concerns practical, survival situations then we may not be completely prepared. One means to avoid fire starting this calamity is to Exercise, Practice, Technique.
Possibly when a month or 2 timetable in a time where you and also your family medicine the treatment of what to do if the lights go out. You can do this if you are solitary, coping with a flatmate, or girlfriend, etc. Merely turn off the lights for an evening and technique using your lighting gear whether they be flashlights, rechargeable LED lanterns, fire-starting equipment, and so on
youtube
. CAUTION - if making use of candles and also any other open fire resource be sure that you are always overseeing its usage. Do not leave an open flame ignored. I repeat, never ever, ever expose flames ignored. Never ever utilize candles in a child's room or near drapery/curtains, or loosened clothes or coverings. Better to be safe, ideal? In a child's space, we advise using an energy-efficient LED lantern or nightlight that conserves energy without the danger of using open flame resources such as candle lights, gas lights, and so on. Always, always err on the side of care!
These two sources of light can be offered without using up too much room or weight in your survival set. The objective with anything whether its light or another issue is to constantly have a backup to the primary method of obtaining your goals.
If you remain in a survival circumstance, you need light. It is necessary to have two sources of lighting. This can be your flashlight as well as your fire."

You Can Say Thanks To Us Later - 3 Reasons To Quit Thinking Of FIRE STARTER

Crucial & Changeable Moments
Crucial & Changeable Moments
By A Gift From Gaia
Good evening everyone, well as you are all aware I’m busy preparing for the website to go live but as we are not quite there I am posting this week’s energy report here, for now, as it will be stored on the website too so that we are able to go back and look at the beginnings of portals etc should we need to. It’s quite helpful to be able to do this when we are looking at patterns, personal and collective, well that’s if you are as interested as I am
I am super excited to be building a home for my light work to be housed, a place where it can be found, for whoever is seeking more, whatever that more may be, and even I can become complacent at times and need to go over an old key to allow it to completely merge with me and I am even more excited to completely open my heart and share the wisdom received.
A new era for A Gift from Gaia is looming and I want to thank you all for being so patient.
Here is this week’s energy report
These are the website posts but I want to be sure you get them immediately……we are almost there!
Energetic Navigation for 1st – 7th December 2019
We are here at one of the most crucial and changeable months of 2019 but there is no time to look back now, this is where we move fully into the Capricorn energy and begin to realise how to truly surf these energies and Capricorn is about to reconnect The All to meet their inner goat or their goat totem if you aren’t too keen on goats, lets just say you are either going to love it or hate it by the end but either way we will all have the opportunity to learn what aligning to energy is all about.
Slow steady progression is the way we move, cosmic goats move confidently and carefully up those steep mountain slopes and we will all do well to stay aware that our journey is exactly that, up a very steep mountain face to get to the top which from down here at the foot of the mountain looks to be nothing less than heaven, I can see beautiful light structures, pillars of light, I can see the trees abundant in fruit hanging over the edge of the cliff, and I can hear the most magical celestial music being played, what I can also see are some magnificent view points and places to rest along the way, these are also abundantly filled with everything needed to take a breather and whilst I see these amazing spaces I can also see a few danger spots, some can be avoided by holding focus, and some look as though I am either going to have to head straight through although….things could change once I reach those points, they could clear or perhaps I can find a new route once I am up there, who knows, but what matters most is that we begin this journey and focus on the NOW.
We begin the week with Jupiter creeping ever closer to the borders of Capricorn, so for now I would highly suggest that you conserve your energy and begin to dream big, look at the areas that have become super light filled, those areas you became “aware” of during 2019 and cleared, they have had a new foundation set, a “Promise to Self” has been made to never experience those old ways again, which means a new way or a new foundation of how it should be/begin will be forming, setting, and will soon, if not now, be ready to build upon and it is in those spaces that I encourage you to focus, to fill up with gratitude for the ability to receive the keys that unlocked those programs that brought nothing but stress to the field, so now, now how do you imagine the new light structure to look, how to you dream to experience that space now? Dream it, see it as your path to follow and expand upon it because as Jupiter moves into Capricorn this week we begin to make the goat steps to create this newness.
What is important to mention is that Jupiter is still just kissing the Galactic Centre goodbye, the orb spans from 26 degrees Sagittarius to 0 degree Capricorn, what’s entering your field are the codes from your Ancient Future Self, passed through the planet of expansion, of luck, wisdom and authority, so please remember those who are in the phases of clearing the restrictions it always appears as “difficult” in the beginning, but hold focus, all is happening in Divine Time and Divine Order to reveal those parts deeply hidden underneath the layers of pain and suffering you have been holding onto, all must be revealed to be released, it’s how this works. Those who have attuned to these codes will be data crunching and recoding the physical body through expansion, finding new ways to support the physical more, we have learned that the secret to abundance is though health, a healthy mind and a healthy body creates a more high vibrational energy field and it is through this magnetised field that we create our reality, these new codes have been delivering the goods so to speak, all we need do is apply everything received into the experience.
Jupiter in Capricorn is of course going to take a little bit of getting used to, everything has to become simplified in order to catch the surf, the energy of Jupiter within us needs to be observed, in fact if you think the energy of Buddha you will hit a perfect surf experience in terms of holding your frequency and maximising the experience this transit will bring. Jupiter likes to jump the gun a little, it can trigger the ego and things can get a little over excitable, and when this happens understand that you are witnessing self in the bipolar phases, high highs and low lows are to be expected in the Capricorn energies, those learning how to operate will be seen bounding up the mountain, and they will fall. Instead go within, be Buddha and find the jungle within, take time to journal instead of blurting out the light gems you retrieve from the quantum field, also learning to observe the field without the need to interrupt what is playing out before you, learning to see how it is forming, the patterns, the whys and hows that are the building blocks to the reality. Notice when you are about to leap out in reaction, hold the feeling, get to know the feeling and figure out why it came into your experience.
If you choose to truly learn to surf now and spend time with self, using the Jupiter in Capricorn energy you will surely create a Master before the end of its transit.
Also what would be good to mention here is whilst Jupiter now enters Capricorn this week he is now on his countdown to meeting up with the Lords, Saturn and Pluto, the Great conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter happens at the end of 2020, so we will have a giant size awakening and as everything is a spectrum, for now at least, we are likely to see the collective unconscious enter a giant sized karmic loop that I am not entirely sure how it can be supported and it could lead one of two ways, the theme of both is change, it will either manifest as a crash or a flow, and the only way to assist us leading the collective into the flow is to continue to take our roles here incredibly serious, to fully understand that by increasing our vibration, walking further into the pool of purity, releasing our programs and awakening all unconscious aspects so that we increase the light quotient here on Earth and by doing so we are each responsible for raising the collective frequency which in turn harmonises our race and opens more opportunities to experience, both individually and collectively, at least until that spectrum becomes One.
Who we are NOW counts, the NOW is literally the most important moment, and whilst you have all heard those words very few can hold that focus entirely throughout their day, to completely live from that now moment is the space of the Creator and Jupiter in Capricorn is going to be such a wonderful teacher.
Purpose – Precision – Integrity – Succeed – Service – Maturity – Observant – Responsive – Responsible – Respectful
Are just a few selection of words that come to mind when I feel into this energy, and so for those who made these words their priority over these past 12 months will be releasing the final remnants of the old and beginning to create their NewBuild Structures of Light.
Now whilst I say dream big Wednesday amplifies the energy with our Moon conjunct Neptune, as it’s a Wednesday and the day is ruled by Mercury perhaps observe self, and learn to decipher between the minds ideas (Mercury) and the hearts requests, when we pay a little more attention to how the body responds to our thoughts and dreams we get to learn its language without so many bumps in the reality. The flow exists in the heart and until the mind has been cleared of its old programs it continues to lead us into experiences to wake us up, but of course, you can bypass that by bringing it into your awareness now and setting reminders to be observant.
A little gem here to know is that the mind will power a million thoughts and contradicitons a minute, the heart will simply have a path and its unquestionable. Many say they don’t receive this communication yet, that all they receive is a bombardment and nothing precise, calm and sure and to that I say wonderful, you have seen your truth, that the heart hasn’t yet opened and the best is yet to come, this is the reason I share the keys of this cosmic journey, because I have found a path that I continue to expand into and experience, it has become my reality and who wouldn’t want to share that wisdom with their family of light.
So within the lower octaves this may manifest as emotional overload or perhaps some may just get a little delusional, unconscious aspects get rather loud and reactive and when this is witnessed please remember it is for you to see/experience to learn to pay attention, to understand why its in your field and the quicker you can move out of the “he said” or “she did” view the quicker you are able to neutralise the presentation, remembering blindness is not to be blamed and that anger or ignorance simply means there is currently no capacity to understand, the choice at this point is yours, do you engage or dissolve, but before you do don’t forget to see why you created it, what needs to be seen, what needs to be adjusted, what needs more of YOU, within you, and don’t forget that it has appeared for action, is this the energy you invite into your Sacred Field, because allowing just one allows All, the Universe or your field doesn’t understand allowances, we don’t work that way. When we have learned to surf these octaves and can reach the “higher” more expanded states of awareness this energy brings forward a gush of energy to surf, deciphering becomes easy, and we know the best place to head during these energies is to the drawing board and begin mapping it out and providing the path appears to be reflecting a beautiful sine wave as opposed to the spikey peaks and troughs that we once would have surfed then we know we must act now, by taking that next, sure footed goat step, not too fast, without pushing and yet don’t be hesitant either, any odds and ends of the procrastination programming will highlight the blocks to the heart frequencies.
Keep an eye on communication, Mercury spends the end of this week in opposition to Algol, some brutal ends for some, some cutting information, losing ones mind which is most helpful on the path of light and yet it was once most uncomfortable, this energy whilst dramatic can often be the most gigantic spinners that take you off into new directions, and we have more heading in next week as Mercury conjuncts the Pleiades, more incredible frequencies however this most often means the collective becomes more resistant for a while until the intensity settles and folk climatize again but we shall discuss this nearer the time and I will share how to focus and flow through.
Sending so much love
Andrea xxx

Teleportation:
Teleportation
Chase could instantaneously teleport himself and others from one location to another and across great distances.
The ability to move instantaneously from one location to another without physically occupying the space in between. Sub-power of Spatial Manipulation.
Also Called
Apparition/Disapparition
Coordinate Change/Movement
Geo-Leaping
Phase-Jumping
Spatial Movement
Tele-Transportation
Translocation
Capabilities
The user can teleport, or transfer matter (beings/objects, including themselves) or energy from one point to another without traversing the physical space between them. This can be achieved by various means, including causing the atoms/molecules to travel at light-speed, warping the space, or use quantum superposition, in which the user teleports by replacing and restocking energy in a spatial behavior.
While teleportation may seem like it is simply for travel, it can be a valuable ability as it can be used offensively (and quite powerful, as a spatial attack) while offering superiority regarding movement speed and distance coverage. A skilled strategist/tactician can use it for many innovative manners.
Applications
Empathic Teleportation: Teleport to those the user has strong feelings for or can teleport to those who have strong feelings towards the user.
Flash Step: Teleport short distances. (Chase Knows)
Isoportation: Teleport short to shift facing.
Matter Substitution: Substitute one collection of molecules with another.
Partial Teleportation: Teleport parts of a target away.
Remote Teleportation: Teleport others away without transporting oneself along with them or requiring physical contact; can be used both offensively and defensively.
Supplementary (Chase Knows)
Teleport out of harm's way. (Chase Knows)
Teleport into the air at steady intervals to simulate Flight.
Teleport great distances, reducing travel time. (Chase Knows Minus time usage)
Teleport past walls and obstacles. (Chase Knows)
Teleport objects to another location, creating an instant mailing.
Offensive
Teleport objects into a target, causing telefrag, which can punch holes or bisect the target.
Teleport an attack back at a target.
Teleport a target to users front to intercept an incoming attack, defending themselves and causing the target's attempt to backfire at the same time.
Teleport anything small to around the target to immobilize the opponent.
Teleport a massive object above the target, letting it crash down to crush the target to death.
Teleport a burst of air into the atmosphere and/or earth, causing shock waves or earthquakes respectively.
Teleport objects into another object, causing the object to displace the object teleported. (Using glass to cut a concrete pillar or metal sticks into a target's body.)
Teleport air or water molecules when more physical ammunition is lacking.
Techniques
Spatial Attacks
Teleportation Combat
Teleportation Slash
Teleportation Strike
Variations
Deconstruction
The body breaks up into various materials (i.e. dust, ice, crystals, flower petals, etc...) and reconstruct elsewhere, possibly moving as the materials. In some cases, the user's limbs and body simply separate and reform in another location.
Instant Transmission (Energy Reading/Transportation)
Teleport to any location as long as they can find an energy source to lock onto. May need Ki Sense, Aura Reading, or Energy Vision.
Location Swapping (Switching/Trading)
Distort space to exchange one subject with another.
Mathematical Teleportation
Teleport by using mathematical formula/probability.
Molecular Teleportation (Reconstruction)
Teleport by disassembling molecules and reassembling them elsewhere.
Portal Creation
Teleport by opening a spatial portal around oneself, instantly shifting locations, or even keep the portals open to allow others to use for later.
Subspace Travel
Teleport into and out of subspace (also known as hyperspace), an "alternate" space adjacent the "normal" space and integral to the space-time continuum. This allows the user (and anything that they teleport) to travel much faster than the speed-of-light in normal space, as they move from one location to another instantaneously while ignoring all physical obstacles in between.
Teleport Dash
The combination of high speed with teleportation which allows the user to ignore normal rules.
Teleportation Orb Generation
Movement accomplished by "bubbles", "orbs" or domes of psionic energy set at the starting point and the destination point.
Temporal Teleportation
Teleport through the manipulating space-time.
Tracking Teleportation
Teleport to any person the user desires to find.
Sympathetic Travel
Teleport through/via energy/matter/object by merging into it and emerging elsewhere from the same energy/matter/object.
Catoptric Teleportation (Mirror Travel)
Teleport through/via mirrors or reflective surfaces, or teleport subjects into mirrors, trapping them within (Mirror Imprisonment).
Doorway/Gateway Teleportation (Door/Gate Travel)
Teleport through/via doors/gates.
Elemental Teleportation
Teleport through/via element.
Lunaportation (Moon Teleportation/Moon Travel)
Teleport through/via moon's energy/power.
Oneiric Teleportation (Dream Teleportation/Dream Travel)
Teleport through/via dreams/sleep.
Organic Teleportation
Teleport through/via organic matter.
Rainbow Teleportation
Teleport through/via the rainbow.
Solarportation
Teleport through/via sun's energy/power.
Techno-Screen Teleportation
Teleport through/via technological screens.
Levels
Basic Level: User is capable of teleporting short distances, from one side of a room to another, or a few blocks away. User can only teleport themselves and very limited amount of mass, equal to what they are wearing/carrying. (Chase Knows)
Advanced Level: User is capable of teleporting large distances, from one side of a field to another, or a few kilometers or so. User can teleport limited mass, equal to several people/heavy household appliances. (Chase Knows,Barely)
Expert Level: User is capable of teleporting thousands of kilometers, on a continental scale. User can teleport mass equal to a bus/industrial machine.
Master Level: User is capable of teleporting on a planetary scale, moving anywhere on the planet or possibly to the closest satellite such as the Moon. User can teleport mass equal to buildings.
Ultimate Level: User is capable of teleporting on light years distances, on a cosmic scale. User can teleport mass equal to planets.
Absolute Level: User is capable of teleporting anywhere, including from illusion to reality, into one's mind, even conceptual things such as teleporting wounds and diseases off of a body. User can teleport effectively infinite mass.
Associations
Conscious Spatial Awareness: In relationship with teleportation, allows user to know where not to teleport to prevent unwanted telefrag.
Dimensional Travel: Teleport between different dimensions.
Motion Paradox: To move the body without physically being in motion.
Light Warp: Traverse wherever via visualizing abundant light sources instantly.
Space-Time Distortion: Most forms of teleportation require a distortion of the space-time continuum for the warp.
Spatial Displacement: Take sections of space and teleport it around.
Spatial Expansion: In relation with teleportation, allows user to expand the space in an area to provide room for the object being teleported.
Summoning/Banishment: Teleport targets to or away from oneself.
Teleportation Barrier Generation: Create a barrier that teleports anything within or touches it to elsewhere.
Teleportation Manipulation: Manipulate every aspect of teleportation.
Time Travel: Teleport from one time period to another (spatial location may or may not remain the same).
Verbal Teleportation: Teleport by uttering a location's name and being teleported there.
Warping Speed: Moving at extreme speed without physical motion by dropping in and out between real and sub-spacial planes.
Teleportation Resistors
Spatial Anchoring
Ability to refuse to be teleported by force; user of this ability can also prevent the teleportation and time-travel (Dimensional Travel) of others. Usually accomplished by Mental Manipulation or Mind Control.
Teleportation Diversion
Ability to divert the destination of a subject's teleportation. User must know what the place looks like, or the teleporter will just "jump" to any random location.
Teleportation Negation
Ability to prevent targets from using any kind of teleportation. Not usually permanent.
Limitations
Momentum may be conserved when teleporting meaning a being cannot simply avoid the damage in the midst of falling by just teleporting to the ground. See Also: Inertia Is a Cruel Mistress
Teleporting may take time, ie. user may need to concentrate certain time before the transportation happens.
If the user's power is calculation-based, low intellect and stress may hinder ability.
If the time-space coordinate the user is teleporting to is already occupied, user may get thrown to another location, or suffer some other sort of teleportation malfunction.
May not be able to teleport other teleporters due to a spatial contradiction.
Objects teleported may lose their speed.
May be required to know the area they are teleporting to teleport properly.
May only be able to teleport a particular amount of times per time span, and overuse of the power may lead to self-damage and even death.
May only be able to teleport within a particular distance from where they are to begin with.
May only be able to teleport objects within a certain mass or density.
Users of Teleportation Negation can prevent user from teleporting.
Users of Teleportation Diversion can redirect user's landing position.
Users of Teleportation Prediction can predict where user is teleporting.
Users' teleportation may be limited when the Spatial Cognizance is being interfered with, such as rain, chaff or anything that emits spatial noise.
Teleportation may cause a spatial disturbance, allowing highly sensitive opponents to track down destination.

Could You Survive the Open Ocean? Learn to Survive at Sea.
You never know when you may be stranded in the ocean. Whether it be a plane crash, a sinking boat or getting swept out to sea while swimming or surfing, the isolation of being stranded in the ocean can be a frightening experience. Follow these survival tips to keep yourself alive in the open ocean until rescue comes. 1. Minimize risk and conserve energy is top priority 2. Use life raft/jacket or latch together any floating debris to stay afloat. 3. Weigh Options: Only paddle for shore/land if you have an idea of where you're going. Stay put if you feel sure that someone will be searching for you 4. Protection: Scan wrecks for tarps, jackets, wool, waterproof, windproof clothing, etc. Protect yourself from wetness, wind, sun, and temperature. Dip clothes in water under hot sun to keep cool. Shade eyes or make goggles. Grease can be used as a sun-screen but it's best to stay out of the sun. 5. Stay Hydrated: Collect rainwater. Make a Solar Still to make potable (drinking) water from seawater. Drink as little as possible but stay hydrated. Avoid drinking seawater; 32 ounces is risky but not life threatening if no fresh water is available. Avoid sweating. Conserve energy. 6. Watch for birds; they are a good sign that land is near. Generally speaking wind blows towards land during the day, and out to sea at night. WITCHTIPS & HOROSCOPES 5/22-5/28- 2019
WITCH TIPS
This week starts off with a harmonious aspect between action planet Mars, who is crawling through the sign of sensitive Cancer, and rebellious Uranus, which is bringing us unique Bullish insights in the sign of Taurus, on May 22nd. When these two planets rub celestial elbows, they shake things up—which is not necessarily bad. We will all be driven to step away from the “norm” and accept different perspectives and methods of thinking. The same day, dreamy Neptune crashes its waves against the Nodes of Destiny, adding indecision and confusion to our new unconventional ideas. May 23rd allows us to reconcile the loftiness of the 22nd, when Mars and healing asteroid Chiron, who heated up in Aries, square off, forcing us to take a hard look at matters before we swim to change. The 26th gives us the strength to embrace and evolve, when the Gemini Sun and the asteroid Chiron motivate us to set forth in pursuit of a radical new beginning. The Last Quarter Moon in tender Pisces on May 26th lends its energy to help us manifest our dreams, as long as we are open and honest with the universe. Letting go of the past will prove to be tough, but essential as we are now motivated to grow and mend ourselves.
Aries
March 21-April 19
Known to love the thrill of the hunt, this week calls for you to disengage yourself from situations and others who do not serve your highest purpose. If not, you may find yourself caught in a web of confusion, lies, and deceit. Looking at past patterns and releasing unhealthy circumstances will help you evolve into the ram of your dreams—but, only if you choose your battles carefully. Your power and fierceness comes from within, and you do not have to cause emotional upsets within yourself or with others to prove your toughness. You can get the respect you crave by speaking your truth (right or wrong), which will allow your spirit and heart to heal swiftly this week.
Taurus
April 20-May 20
You’re so used to others discouraging and putting your beliefs down, that you believe you are wrong—even though you are right. Although it’s cliche to say, you must believe in yourself more. You have to stand firmly in your credence and trust your judgement. Trust the empirical facts. Trust the process of uncovering truths. Don’t allow yourself to be manipulated or gaslighted into beliefs that go against your own grain. Keep the faith in your intuition. Most importantly, don’t let others manipulate your emotions. Call into your higher self by untying yourself from the ties that bind you to toxic situations and people. Once you stop doubting your actions and choices, you will sore to exciting and great new heights.
Gemini
May 21-June 20
This week calls for you create serious boundaries with others, as well as using psychic protection to ward off the energetic vampires. While you may feel at the top of your game, your sensibilities and emotions are weakened due to unruly energetic forces latching onto your aura causing you to feel drained. In order to detach yourself from these energetic drainages, it’s important for you to cleanse yourself of such vampires and boost your inner vibration. Take a Himalayan salt bath with Amethyst and Moonstone to cleanse your auric field. Carry Black Tourmaline around everyday to allow the negative vibes to bounce off of you. Also, disengaging and disconnecting from other people’s issues will serve to elevate and liberate your energy.
Cancer
June 21-July 22
You’re finally at a point where you feel in control of the direction of your life. While you may be riddled with anxiety planning the next phase of conquering hearts and the world—allow yourself to relish the calmness this week brings to you. This week calls for you to take a momentary step back, reflect, and implement much needed self-care. You have cosmic permission to unwind, get a massage, and spend time relaxing at home (after all, the past few months have been extremely hard and complicated for you, Cancer). Instead of setting intentions and manifesting your goals, let your mind rest. Give yourself a break this week and rest your energy. Try to conserve your power for the weeks ahead.
Leo
July 23-August 22
While life is currently at a high, you may feel as though you are carrying around emotional debt you think you owe to others. The lesson to be learned this week, is that you do not owe anyone anything—particularly your time and energy. Friends and family will persist in involving you, which may cause you more heartache than expected. Or, you may feel indebted to helping another who has helped you gain personal and professional success. Focus your energies on transforming your life, not the circumstances of your friends or family. Staying out of the drama will go against all of your natural instincts, but benefit you in the end. Remember, you’re only responsible for your happiness—no one else’s.
Virgo
August 23-Sept. 22
Fair-minded by nature, this week you are taking the high road within relationships (yet again), even though it may be hard. The underlying issue is that you feel as though you are being a pushover by maintaining a positive and tender approach to partnerships. The way to work around your feelings is to write down all of the confusion and setbacks you are feeling on a piece of paper. If you feel as though you cannot discuss your sentiments with others, write them out. Release all the emotions you are feeling into the world (on a piece of paper) and then bury it in the dirt to let go of your frustrations. This will allow you to be free from the energetic weight of your unexpressed frustrations.
Libra
Sept. 23-Oct. 22
It’s been a long journey to salvation and peace these past few months. The result of being pulled in different directions in all areas of your life has begun to take an emotional and physical toll on your body. This week, it’s imperative that you take time away from the daily grind and focus on yourself. Instead of scrolling through social media, download a meditation app to allow yourself to unwind (if only for a minute) to release stresses. Meditating will connect your body and mind, while controlling emotions. Rather than having a meltdown (which is understandable due to the amount of pressure and baggage you’ve been carrying), melt away your troubles by dedicating your energies into strengthening your mind, heart, and spirit.
Scorpio
Oct. 23-Nov. 21
The most important thing in the world is your divine connection to your inner magic. This week, you are leaning into embrace not only your mystical desires, but also all sides of your personality. Upon your spiritual journey, you may face off with the shadow side of the self, which will be scary and intense. However, in order to become a true and powerful witch, you must accept and honor the darker and edgier side of your personality. Loving both your weaknesses and vigors equally will elevate your transcendental supremacy and understanding of the self, as you are able to see both sides and all aspects of the world around you—which will boost and grow your magical potential.
Sagittarius
Nov. 22-Dec. 21
Being dependent on others isn’t necessarily your jam, but this week you are feeling like you need to connect and be a part of the team. Mending fences, reconciling, and biting your pride (and tongue in order to avoid future arguments) will take a lot of work on your part as you always need to be right—but the reward and relationship is fulfilling. Try to be aware of the flip side of this aspect, which can bring on codependency. Finding a medium in which you are able to set boundaries (both upon yourself and others) and be reliant on others for emotional support is key in order to avoid feeling trapped down the road, which goes against your free spirited nature.
Capricorn
Dec. 22-Jan. 19
Lately you’ve felt a sense of invisibility amongst others. You may even feel as though people do not respect or see you clearly (a sentiment which unfortunately is a recent chronic condition for you, Capricorn). Rather than act out, it’s time to invest your energy in yourself. Have faith in yourself. Be bold and daring this week, in order to feel visible. Repeat positive affirmations in the mirror every morning in order to love yourself. In order to heal, you must start mending the relationship with the self, which will allow you to see yourself. The moment you are love your flaws and strengths, you will feel recognized and distinguished. Master the relationship you have with yourself and the rest will follow.
Aquarius
Jan. 20-Feb. 18
It certainly has been a long time since you’ve taken a break from the stresses of daily life. While this week doesn’t necessary end your anxieties, it gives you a moment to see the world through your own personal lens. Your creative juices are flowing more than ever, giving you the motivation to create art (music, literature, painting etc...) from past upsets. This will serve as a great outlet for you to express yourself through the free-flow of nonverbal (and sometimes verbal) activities that will boost your mental and emotional well being. Not only will you feel better, but you will have mastered the ability to healthily show others your inner self through a wonderful endeavor and boost your confidence.
Pisces
Feb. 19-March 20
Ignoring red flags in all areas of life has led you to suffer through situations and relationships that aim to bring you down. This week, you are focusing on healing yourself and moving away from the past. It will be hard unwrapping your emotions and letting yourself feel all of your sentiments, but essential to mend your heart. Understanding that you are not at fault is the most important step in your recovery process. Going forward, you will be rational and not emotional in your decision making. Learn to surround yourself with mindful people, and to trust your intuition. All of this will allow you to believe in yourself and make better choices which will be fruitful and beneficial to your future.

Brexit: Dead ... Ahead?
“Brexit” – the United Kingdom’s (“UK”) 2016 voter referendum to exit the European Union (“EU”) has grown from a nagging itch in many people’s sides to a full-blown feeding frenzy. There is now virtually blow-by-blow news coverage of daily developments. Pundits issue editorial warnings of dire economic consequences ahead (particularly for the UK). Savage political cartoons and even “You Tube” videos of UK and EU leaders prancing and dancing to the beat of Mama Mia are every day fodder.
Until recently UK media focus often featured the rising and falling pastry dough on “The Great British Baking Show” and the gentle, sure-handed guiding touch of show presenter, Mary Berry. Now, Mary Berry and her baking cohorts have been eclipsed in the media by the dower, dogged image of UK Prime Minister Theresa May, the public face of the Brexit drama, who is widely viewed as presiding over “The Great Brexit Breakdown.”1
The coming Brexit breakdown seems evokes a new version of the old familiar refrain “water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink.” Today, the song might go “Brexit Brexit’s everywhere and no one stops to think.” Brexit’s coming – dead ahead.
This is the seventh in an ongoing series of blog posts by Foley & Lardner LLP on the implications of Brexit.2 UK exit from the EU is currently poised to become effective on March 29, 2019.3 A tentative agreement avoiding Brexit was hammered out in late 2018 after months of the tortious negotiations between UK and the EU27. However, UK final approval is by no means certain as bitter political infighting continues.4 The negative consequences of Brexit continue to intensify as the clock ticks toward March 2019.
Despite almost unanimous calls for resolution of the Brexit question and for urgently needed economic and regulatory clarity,5 bitter infighting in the UK among proponents of “hard,” “soft” or “no” Brexit have consumed valuable time, energy and political capital. Even in the face of this fast approaching deadline, overwhelming opposition in Parliament to the deal has caused Prime Minister May to postpone a vote on the negotiated UK/EU27 withdrawal deal until mid-January 2019.6 Perhaps, not surprisingly, calls for “no” Brexit through another voter referendum have increased.7 Support for ‘no” Brexit” has arrived from an unexpected direction – the EU’s highest court. In December 2018, the European Court of Justice (an arch-villain of “Brexiters” who have railed against UK loss of sovereignty in the EU) ruled that the UK could unilaterally withdraw its decision to exit if it chose.8 While this judicial green light has emboldened advocates a second referendum that might reverse the exit decision, time is running out and it is increasingly likely that the UK will crash hard out of the EU and face unpalatable uncertainties that are sure to weaken its economy and disadvantage its industries.
This “hard exit” out of the EU by the UK and a presumable hard landing were graphically depicted by a cartoon recently posted on Reddit.com:
Where that UK bus careening out of the EU will land is “up in the air.”
From the outset since the Brexit vote went down in 2016, it has been undisputed that the UK industry, which is economically linked to and integrated with the EU, will likely, be increasingly vulnerable after Brexit.9 Warnings of dire consequences voiced in 2016 are reiterated today – reduced competitiveness, increased costs, currency risks, inefficiency, increased unemployment, brain drain and capital flight.10 According to Carolyn Fairbairn, CBI Director-General, money has been and is flooding out of UK businesses, damaging productivity and the wider economy.”11
Sadly, the scene in the UK has not changed much since the 2017 notice to exit was issued, despite pressure of the Brexit clock. Once again in early 2019 as in 2017, the situation in the UK is aptly depicted in a 2017 cartoon appearing The Economist under the caption: “Brexit Talks – The Current State of Play.” The cartoon features a tennis court. On one side is a tall, athletic EU player serving at “advantage.” On the other (UK) side of the net, the court is further divided by yet another net running perpendicular to that net, dividing the UK side of the court into two halves. In each UK half, two clearly less-gifted UK players (labeled respectively “soft” and “hard”) are hitting errant balls at each other (instead of contesting with the EU) and shouting complaints about each other to Teresa May who is depicted sitting on the sidelines, labeling both “hard” and “soft” as at “fault.” In the background and as a reminder of the clicking Brexit two-year clock, there is the game’s umpire who seeks to have the EU and the UK sides resume playing with the not-so-gentle reminder to the UK side – “time.”
Unfortunately, despite the 24/7 news coverage, the YouTube videos and the savage cartoon caricatures, it has apparently not sunk-in on UK decision makers that Brexit is not a game of tennis played on a grass court by white-clad, upper-class gentlemen and ladies. The consequences of a no-deal hard exit are real and are fast approaching. Indeed, the horizon looks rather bleak.
Again, as has been widely recounted, the UK and the EU have been economically closely integrated for decades, particularly since the UK joined the EU in 1974. Transportation systems, communication networks, EU-wide enterprises operate within the EU system on the basis of the free movement of goods, services, capital and people. While by no means perfect, the system functioned based on EU-wide common rules and seamless borders. The overall EU economy and the UK economy, in particular, benefitted greatly from the unified system. That will change dramatically for the UK as a hard-exit will put at risk a raft of services – financial, electrical, agricultural, infrastructure funding, telecommunication – as well as the rights of EU member citizens living in the UK as well as UK citizens living in the EU. In a word, movement whether of goods, services, capital and/or people will no longer be free, easy or seamless.12
Predictions of the potential difficulties for the UK when it exits the EU are numerous and easy to find.13 For example, the CBI predicts that trade between the UK and the EU 27 will immediately face increased tariffs (+/- 5%, depending on the direction of the trade). Logistical log-jams at the ports and on the previously seamless highways (whether air, water or motorways) are widely predicted. EU financial services and the likely end of banking “passport” rights will increase costs, risks and inconvenience. Food, medicine and manufacturing inputs for UK’ previously EU-wide integrated industries will be seriously disrupted. Overall, the UK GDP is
expected to fall by 5% over the near term. While the UK would seem to suffer more than the EU27, it too will feel the impact of Brexit.14
What that post-Brexit world will look like particularly for the UK remains, of course, unclear at this point.15 Assuming a hard, no-deal Brexit, it seems likely that the UK on exiting the EU may, at least in the short-term, fall back on its rights and obligations as a member of the WTO. While the WTO platform provides a general, recognizable and enforceable set of rules on issues like tariffs on goods, trade procedures, standards, etc., reliance on WTO membership will prove no easy substitute for and may well be a clear step down from the free trade benefits which the UK had enjoyed as a member of the EU. Suffice to say, it poses many complex questions that will have to be addressed.
In that event, the UK faces a daunting maze in the coming days, as the Yorkshire Post graphically depicted in a recent editorial cartoon.
[Insert Brexir3 – Yorkshire maze Post cartoon]
Among the most cited alternatives include UK membership in the European Economic Area (“EEA”),16 the European Free Trade Association (“EFTA”)17 and a free trade customs union that the EU has with a number of countries.18 However, all of these alternatives have major negatives for the UK. All of these alternatives substitute membership in a seamless EU market for other interests – greater sovereignty and enhanced control over immigration. However, they all come at a potentially significant price that must be weighed against the value of the perceived Brexit rationale and Brexit’s justification. Indeed, in balancing such competing interests, some might even consider membership in the EEA, EFTA or a free trade customs union with the EU to represent a significant step backwards for the UK and for the EU as well.
Whatever the outcome, the UK will likely require a long time to recover from the serious, negative ramification flowing from Brexit. There’s water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink. There’s Brexit, Brexit everywhere but it’s time people stop and think.

3 As has been clear throughout this Brexit push toward exit, deadlines, however fixed in law or stone, sometimes are at the last moment flexible as the process plays out in real time and real life.
4 “EU say no to May on renegotiating deal,” BBC.com (December 14, 2018). Perhaps, a “nip or a tuck” here or there, but the EU has no stomach for further accommodations to the UK.
5 John Allen, President of the Confederation of British Industry (“CBI”), said in an address to his CBI colleagues that a no-deal Brexit would be “a nightmare scenario … which would be a wrecking ball for our economy.” CNBC, (November 18, 2018).
6 Ironically, the most vocal opponents of the deal are hard-core Brexiters who are members of May’s own Conservative party.
7 See “A Second Brexit Referendum was once a pipe dream. Now some wonder if it’s the only way out of the chaos.” The Washington Post (December 15, 2018).
8 A group of Scottish pro-Europe petitioners (including the “Good Law Project”) had brought an action to seek a ruling whether the UK could change its mind about Brexit. The Scottish Court of Sessions ruled that it could on September 17, 2018. On a referral to the European Court of Justice (“ECJ”) to determine whether, under EU law, the UK could unilaterally halt the Brexit process, the ECJ ruled on December 10, 2018 that the UK could revoke its withdrawal from the EU as long as the withdrawal agreement between the UK and the EU had not been formally executed and the two-year Article 50 notice period had not run. EU Court Press Service (December 10, 2018).
9 Of course, these industry concerns are not new. See “Toyota Demands Clarity over Brexit,” The New York Times (October 25, 2017); “Tied to Europe, British Car Industry is Vulnerable after Brexit,” The New York Times (December 6, 2016).
10 In 2016, one senior union spokesperson stated about the future prospects of his plant after Brexit, “it is absolutely suicidal.” See The New York Times (Ibid at 2).
11 CNBC report on November 19, 2018.
12 As is well understood, there are, however, a significant number of EU-generated rules and regulations that have been adopted by the UK and will remain in place. Still, there will be substantial uncertainty. Moreover, the UK borders with the EU have never been totally seamless as the UK never was a party to the 1995 Schengen agreement.
13 There have been many studies starting even before the 2016 UK referendum. See, e.g., The Institute for Government “Understanding the Economic Impact of Brexit” (October 19, 2018); OECD, “The Economic Consequences of Brexit: A Taxing Decision” (April 2016); Financial Times, “What are the Economic Consequences of Brexit So Far?” (June 23, 2018).
14 See “Free falling,” The Economist (November 24, 2018). This article on a no-deal Brexit provides a comprehensive look into the rabbit hole as the UK is pushed ever closer to jumping into the oblivion.
15 See, “May’s Brexit Deal is Likely to Fail. What Happens Then?” New York Times (December 11, 2018)
16 Lord David Owen most recently urged serious consideration of this idea in an op-ed piece in the November 2, 2018 Sunday Times of London. His article is entitled “If May loses in the Commons, we have one card left: the EEA.” Current members of the EEA are Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein. As has been underscored before, however, UK membership in the EEA does little to achieve the goals of Brexit (assuming current EEA members would approve). The EEA requires that EEA members observe all of those EU four freedoms (including free movement of people), make financial contribution to the EU budget and compliance with many EU rules and regulations.
17 Switzerland is an EFTA member. However, EFTA members do not have the same seamless free trade in services that the UK enjoys today within the EU which could prove a major negative for the UK banking industry. EFTA members are, as well, subject to the jurisdiction of the EFTA court would conflict with the clear goal of Brexit supporters who sought to avoid surrendering UK sovereignty to the European Court of Justice.
18 The EU has free trade customs union agreements with, for example, Morocco, Tunisia, Israel, Turkey, etc. However, such an agreement may complicate trade agreements with other trading partners.
