Meet Yingyue (and Meiyu)

so, regarding my OC in the works!!

You may have noticed her in my art dump - she's actually an old OC i'm porting over to HSR. I'm thinking that she'll have two verses: one that's her present day incarnation, and one that's her past incarnation.

Yingyue (映月) is a Vidyadhara and a personal attendant to Bailu, the current High Elder, but this position is not unique to her. One of her past incarnations was a friend and attendant of the 90th High Elder of the Luofu, Yubie (the one who sealed the roots of the Ambrosial Arbor), and had pledged to remain by his side and support him. This pledge was reinforced with Cloudhymn magic so that, no matter how many cycles she underwent, she would always return to serve the High Elder. As a result, her incarnations have all tended to form strong connections to the High Elders throughout the centuries, due to the sheer love and dedication woven into the pledge forged long ago.

Yingyue's past incarnation, Meiyu (美雨), was attendant to Dan Feng before he committed his sin. She complemented him well, being a gentle and graceful support to him. She was crushed by his act of treason and the subsequent rebellion, and was also imprisoned due to her closeness to him; she was not free of scrutiny, after all, despite her innocence. Eventually, she was set free, but she never recovered from her grief. She'd dedicated her whole life to him only for everything to fall apart. Most days she could be found weeping, wishing to return to the sea. Eventually she did, starting her molting cycle early to wash away the pain of her life and start anew. But Yingyue turned out timid and lacking in the serene confidence Meiyu had. Meiyu's grief had been so strong that it affected her future incarnation despite the lack of memories. Yingyue and Meiyu are also pacifists at heart, with Yingyue refusing to raise arms against another person or even monster.

I'll be writing both Yingyue and Meiyu (and also designing them soon I hope skagjha)! I've been working on her connection to Imbibitor Lunae with the help of @etherealguard (tyvm muah) but I very much welcome all Dan Fengs/Dan Hengs and Bailus to hash out dynamics if you're interested!!! No but on a real note that was the exact reason I didn’t want to watch it, then I decided why not just watch the live action it’ll be less commitment y’know

But I loved it so much and I just had to see what else would happen (SEASON TWO OF THE LIVE ACTION IS CONFIRMED IN SO EXCITEDDDD)

So I got into the anime I’m only on the 31st episode in season one but what I’m really liking is the live action isn’t a carbon copy of what it covers from the anime

Of course it’s more dramatic considering it’s a live action with actual actors, but some parts of the story were actually changed to make an intriguing flow and storyline that I was instantly hooked onto

So when I started the anime it didn’t feel like I was just rewatching it, because some things were different and that really just left a pleasant itch in my brain

Oh that’s one of my tamer remarks about buggy, my tastes on him already got bullied in a discord server I’m in, so I’m electing to keep my remarks somewhat normal ☺️

a century or so ago french author maurice leblanc was like “ah i have an idea, i know how to get people to read my original novels -- i’ll put my beloved character Arsène Lupin in them as a tiny guest appearance! everyone loves him! they will read my original stories just to catch the merest glimpse of him! ahahaha YES my GENIUS plan is DIABOLICAL! pspspspsps readers” and now a century later i have fallen for his tricks for three books in a row. monsieur leblanc i read your gritty war novel that had lupin mentioned for about two entire paragraphs. i read your sims fanfic where you put your sims in a room and took away all the doors and left them there, then lupin shows up out of nowhere to save them and run around solving all the plot points before hecking off again. i read the depressing murder island book where lupin suddenly appears right at the end and turns the entire thing into a comedy in the most whiplash-inducing way possible. i hope you’re happy, you absolute troll, that i love your ridiculous thief character so much that i was willing to slog through a thousand pages of angst for him in a non-native language. and i would do it again smh, he’s worth it, god i love arsène lupin so much i hope he never stops committing crime

I know, I know, but her potential, her madness, her alluded to but never fully explained backstory... she’s a crazy little maniac like me’s favourite kinda character because I can say any nonsense about her and nobody can say I’m wrong. she’s an ex astronaut and was President of Chile and cannot return to the state of Texas because she committed a large fraud scam where she pretended to be the new Virgin Mary. all of this is true

scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped): oh I don’t really have one??? none of them make me want to kill them bc they’re so cute but Constance truly is The Most Shaped Of All Time

scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave): Sticky!!! He’s so good and he tries so hard and I think a little cringe arc is necessary for young teenagers. but instead of getting into MCR and making niche memes he nearly helped take over the world. utterly underappreciated he deserves more

glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week): already said Garrison so, if not her, Jackson and Jillson!!!!! can you tell I like the terrible ones as much as I like the really good ones? they’re just ridiculous. trashing their headmaster’s twin for being Ugly and Lame as they compliment him when they’re identical twins. idiots i love them

I can’t think of any problematic fav I haven’t mentioned but like as much as I love her I think we need to acknowledge Martina is a little meow meow. her main hobby is tetherball. she had a total of 0 (zero) friends before Kate and upon making 1 (one) friend, she felted her a keychain, something that would have taken hours. Yo can someone tell me when someone writes an angsty fic about Tommy finding out about what Wilbur and Ranboo did together snd then immediately questioning his worth. Yknow cause the one person he really has, Wilbur, decided to do all the activities he did with Tommy with Ranboo. Possibly leading him to spiral on how much Wilbur actually valued him or Tommy questions if those moments were special to Wilbur at all. I mean cause like cmon. The van, committing crimes together, also like Wilbur heard what he needed to hear from Ranboo which is he can change and shit and Wilbur said he has been around the wrong people. Which pspspspsps he has only recently been around Tommy cause we saw barely any Big Q interactions past that old lore stream and the way he talked to Phil implies they haven’t really talked that much. The angst possibilities of Wilbur lowkey shoving in Tommy’s face he has a new right hand man and no longer needing him therefore causing Tommy to lose everyone and yet another person to Ranboo, leaving him with no one and losing his chance at family. Like if anyone writes that someone better fucking tell me.
