What if the Mewmans from Star vs, instead of being basically humans with some butterfly things and cheek marks, were like a species of butterfly monsters that imitate humans in appearance? Like they look like humans for the most part, but are in fact caterpillars/butterflies?
I know that the Mewmans are basically a magically evolved form of humans, and I’m not sure how these Mewmans would come to imitate humans since they don’t live on Mewni, but it was a thought I just had while thinking about Star vs
#like just spitballing some ideas here#maybe at the start of SVTFOE Star is at like the end of her “larva” stage#and by the end of the story she’s evolved into her butterfly form#and so maybe there’s an arc where she’s in her pupa stage and thus can’t really do anything#so Marco basically has to hold down the fort himself and/or Star gets taken back home#and Star emerges whenever dramatically appropriate#and maybe just also as a side gag Star does things that are more bug like than human on occasion#I don’t really know#star vs the forces of evil#star butterfly#random stuff

the 100th situation!! yippee!
we've officially hit our 100th situation (not counting the pinned post)...!! to celebrate, i drew everyone* for one of my oddly specific, self-indulgent aus with a target audience of one (me); my drdt x digimon au!
version without any digimon
the au is mostly running on vibes (especially as we don't have concrete backstories for everyone, and a lot of interpretation has to be done), but the digimon adventure trilogy is the main inspiration!
disorganized notes: -) i'll be going to more detail in my other acc! linked here -) this takes place in an universe where hope's peak academy and the tragedy never existed. they still have their "talents" but they don't get nationwide recognition or anything. this helps and hurts some backstories -) i'm separating the story to two arcs. the first arc is where mai befriends everyone in the right half of the image and takes them adventuring in the digital world, ending in her untimely and unfortunate death. which was totally not supposed to happen, whoops :( this fractures mai's friend group and only the valiant efforts of a post-character development arei prevents them from completely cutting off contact with each other -) the second arc takes place ~3 years after, where mai's friends' unaddressed drama and hard feelings finally crop up again and two innocent bystanders (teruko and eden) are forced to take front seat and suffer the consequences. everyone left in the left side of the image isn't relevant to the plot and are background cameos at best but i didn't wanna leave them out -) its basically Character Building Playground for me and a way for me to cope about what could've been. but it also means that the most "content" i make up in my head is actually between the first and second arc, because i wanna figure out how awful everyone's coping mechanisms are and the falling outs that ensue...
summary of my unserious thought process behind each partner choice (more detailed in my other acc): -) the characters from hu to teruko specifically have partners who are relevant in the digimon adventure continuity. if you've watched tri in particular, you know exactly why i chose mai and teruko's partners ^_^ -) hu: morphomon. thank you lost evolution kizuna for introducing a butterfly child-level / rookie!! -) ace: patamon. they are both orange. interpreting patamon as a small angry dog was also really funny to me -) david: gabumon. protag assignment. gabumon wears a fur pelt to appear stronger and it's stated to experience a "180° personality shift" -) xander: agumon. protag assignment. they would be BEST friends -) j: tentomon. juxtaposition of cute pink baby form vs very cool and scary looking insects that shoot LIGHTNING. -) arei: piyomon/biyomon. no reason in particular the evolutions i picked just fit really well -) charles: palmon. plant. the idea of charles naming a plant "charles jr" was hilarious to me, and then the idea of palmon wearing matching goggles and a labcoat was very very cute -) whit: gomamon. sea ouppy... commonly characterized as a very laidback and fun-loving partner in digimon media. -) mai: tailmon/gatomon. Kity :) this specific tailmon is also meant to mirror monotv and behaves like it -) teruko: meicoomon. Kity :) sad kity who turns evil and fucked up :( -) eden: solarmon. silly machine digimon. also commonly evolves to the clock digimon -) min: wormmon. bookworm pun. also very vague allusion to ichijouji ken. Min is not plot relevant (for now) and she's actually way better off here than canon!! -) rose: lalamon. no reason in particular i just think they would be friends and lalamon's face is funny. -_- and 0o0 -) nico: loogamon. wolfy :) wolfy who bites -) veronika: porcupamon. spooky monokuma-esque bear -) levi: bemmon. ourple. also the one "unnatural" digimon pick that i thought fit him well. also, also hoping that digimon liberator gives me a shiny new bemmon evolution line that can work with him! -) arturo: jellymon. i had absolutely zero idea what to do with him because hes one of the two characters i cant get a grip on (for writing) so i just sicced Ghost Game's Jellymon on him

DigiTimeLines: Document format [pt2]
[part 1] | [AO3 version] | @digimonadventuretimelines (blog; outdated)
Part 2 is not totally focused on the next villain arc, but a few arcs involving a few kids and foreshadowing for the next segment (yes, part 3 confirmed, but not sure if it will be the closure to this big plotline) -- also there's some canon divergence in it, but this is a multiverse story project, so different sources of canon can still exist in their own timelines.

The Prelude To A New Enemy
No one knew how to explain what happened to Motomiya Daisuke. He was alive, of course, but in front of them all was… A small dog-like baby digimon with fur resembling Daisuke’s hair in color and style. In other words, he looked like a Pomeranian dog. Koushiro labeled that digimon form as “Pomeranimon” but Daisuke hated the idea of being called like that!!
Oddly, his voice sounded babyish and childish (like in Hurricane Touchdown movie) instead of the voice of an adult man. Taichi wanted more to know what happened after he got captured, but Daisuke being alive and safe now was enough for him. Ken is the one who deserved to know that info (but Taichi still wanted to know, so were the others in the room) -- but Daisuke says he’s too tired to talk. Miyako grabs her tiny and furry husband and starts demanding him to explain things NOW, and he just agrees to.
At first, Daisuke and Wingdramon managed to beat the enemies but couldn’t go home. They knew if they opened the gate, the enemies would go after Ken… So they stayed on the run and tried to survive. It was when a strange thing happened -- they met a strange Digimental in the jungle, being secured by the foe’s army. So this was the thing they were looking for, right? Something something Digimental of… Darkness? He didn’t remember very well of that part. But Ken was needed because of the Digivice of Darkness. They were trying to bring the Kaiser back and then use it to show how the humans were evil beings only interested in turning every digimon their slaves.
Daisuke and V-mon thought about taking that Digimental with them before they could use it, but Papillonmon appeared and threw those shadow butterflies against them. Then, that vile digimon forced Daisuke to use that Digimental on V-mon, armor evolving him into a black-armored Magnamon. Papillonmon then used his special attack to transform Daisuke into a digimon and labeled it Lupinmon. Since then, Daisuke and V-mon were fighting hard to regain control of their bodies but couldn’t for much longer.
It was when Magnamon ordered Natsu to go back and ask for the group’s help, but she ended up being chased by the evil enemies for five years and had no chance to get back to the human world until that day she met Daichi.
As Daisuke finishes his report, he yawns and falls asleep in Miyako’s hands. She’s about to shake him to keep him awake when Daichi intervenes saying to let him rest for a while. The adults are quite upset with their children, but they are at least relieved everyone was back and safe. Taichi tries to talk with them, but Taisuke just says he only wants to shield them, and he leaves stomping his feet on the floor. Hikari looks at Taichi, as if she knew something was wrong with them all, but she couldn’t blame those kids for trying something risky: They did the same around their ages too.
Ken mutters that they were chosen in the past, but then they made the choice to stand up and fight. Have Taichi forgotten that?
Kiyoko and Eiji follow Taisuke, trying to talk with the boy that maybe the adults were afraid of their old friend killing their children. Daichi and Hoshi come later, but Daichi seems… off. They ask what’s wrong and the kid says something is not right. Why would Papillonmon let Daisuke and Magnamon set free all of a sudden? Kiyoko gasps, ‘Are you saying dad is still in his hands!?’ but Daichi denies it, and adds that it was another thing.
What thing? The thing is… He didn’t see that Digimental his father mentioned there. So, obviously… Papillonmon retrieved it from Magnamon before leaving the Manticoremon soldiers try to get rid of them all. This made Eiji muse about that detail: Maybe Daisuke is still under Papillonmon’s spell, but not under his control. Hence why he’s still a digimon, but devolved this time. Hoshi asks if this means her dad is in danger again, and the group only assumed this could mean ‘yes’, yet they had nothing in hand to confirm their suspicions.
Would the adults believe them? Not without Daisuke and V-mon’s help.
Space-Time Traveling, Again
Once Daisuke and Chibimon had their energies recovered they were kidnapped by Kiyoko and Taisuke. The iconic 2-TOP duo were facing the children’s eyes and watching them mutter something to each other. Daisuke loses his patience, as if he was a teacher finding his classroom was merged into chaos while he was out. Mirai finds this whole situation enjoyable! A human turned into a digimon!? This must be studied! Mitsuki jokes about Mirai wanting to dissect the poor Daisuke-mon and Kiyoko snaps at them! NO ONE IS GOING TO LEND A HAND ON HIS FLOPPY FUR! (Daisuke, annoyed: Stop reminding me that I have fur!!)
Reika asks them all to behave and respect Daisuke, because he’s still an adult. Though he felt that form humiliating, only to have Elise scratch the back of his dog ear. Somehow this helped him to relax… Well, he’s stuck in that form until Koushiro can fix it. Chibimon complains, he wants to be pampered too! Elise uses her free hand to scratch Chibimon’s belly, who feels so pleased and relaxed… Until Natsu switches to Digimon form in order to get some belly rubs too. Elise complains, she can’t give love to all of them at the same time!! Her partner Zebra also complains because he wanted Elise’s attention too. She calls for the others’ help, and then Jin tells all of the digimon to stop bugging Elise.
Daichi calls everyone’s attention to their main topic, and Daisuke raises an eyebrow: What is it? His son then asks him if he or Chibimon had seen the Digimental he mentioned again, when they regained consciousness -- Daisuke and Chibimon looked at each other for a moment: OH NO, they forgot about the Digimental!! Daichi and the other kids grimace when they hear that.
Daisuke laughs nervously, and dramatically cries about him being stupid. Taisuke says, in his most tsun way, that it wasn’t his fault if he was brainwashed. The rest look at the boy, who snaps at them for that: I WAS JUST STATING THE FACTS, Y’KNOW!? Daichi wonders if he should go back in time and secure the Digimental, but Natsu says that could be wrong!
Daisuke muses that they could go back a bit further in time, but he thinks it’s risky and he should leave it to Ken and the others. Eiji counter-arguments the enemies might be after his dad now. With no other options, Daisuke sighs. He knows if he allows those children to risk their lives, their parents might unleash their wrath on him. Ulforce suggests they send just Daichi and him there, but Daisuke says they don’t know what they’re looking for! Mike suggests he describe the Digimental and that they would draw it, like the police do with suspects. Chibimon shrugs, can Daisuke be able to describe something? Daisuke squints his eyes at his own partner, and decides to go with that suggestion.
As Daisuke described the Digimental, the kids’ best artist -- Reika -- tried to capture the image in the paper. When she finished, they all looked at it. Taisuke says it looks like “a World’s Cup trophy-thing, but in cold colors” and everyone glanced at him. He does “What? I think it’s what I see here! Evil Soccer Cup’s Trophy.” -- Hoshi growls, this wasn’t the right hour to think about soccer!! Daisuke, with a deadpan face, looks at the kids and just agrees with Taisuke.
They have a plan, and then Daichi now tells them to keep everyone, mr. Ichijouji Ken included, safe while he’s out. The kids agree. Daisuke says he wants to go, but Natsu says she and Ulforce can protect Daichi for him. With everyone’s agreement, Daichi, Ulforce and Natsu go to the Dimensional Space dungeon again.
Daisuke still thinks everything is his fault, so he asks Taisuke, Hoshi and Eiji to take him to Taichi and Ken. Chibimon cannot evolve if Daisuke can’t use his digivice, so they have to be protected by those kids.
Hard Task: Talking to Taichi & Ken
The Ichijouji siblings could manage to call Ken for a small talk with Daisuke, but can Taisuke contact his dad for this too? The answer is… There’s a lot happening between Taichi and his son, Taisuke definitely hates the fact his dad is a busy man and since this whole crisis started, Taichi didn’t get time to rest and be with him and his mother. So, Taisuke is definitely out of his reach right now. But Daisuke needs to talk with Taichi immediately -- Maybe the best scenario would’ve been with both at the same time.
Hoshi knows Taisuke has a beef with her uncle Taichi. Eiji knows Hoshi and Taisuke do not get along either. And he’s a shy person, a bookworm. He cannot raise his voice and stop any clash between his sister and his cousin-and-best-friend.
Daisuke frowns: This is too much for him. If he were still human he could act as the responsible adult he is, but as a… digimon? He’s small and cannot do much! So, he had to count on Eiji for this. The moment Hoshi and Taisuke started arguing about how to call Taichi, things began overwhelming Eiji. The digimon with them were trying to help to reach a conclusion, but those two human children are hard to deal with.
Daisuke tries to call them out, but yup. His small dog-like shape cannot stop those two. Kitty, Sting and Draki as well, they were almost arguing between themselves too. It is when Eiji snaps and shouts. His hair went all over his face, resembling Ken in his child days. He tells them to stop, that this wouldn’t help anyone and that mr. Motomiya wanted their help for something important! Everyone glances at the boy in shock. Daisuke blinks, and comments this reminded him of when Ken used to snap at the others when he got angry. Eiji starts apologizing for that, that he didn’t want to… But Daisuke smiles at him and says he didn’t do anything wrong. Everyone agrees, they were wasting their time with that nonsense.
Eiji comments that if they get to talk to their dad first, they can manage to get him to call uncle Taichi with his help. Chibimon wonders if this is possible. Daisuke muses that as well, it’s not like Taichi and Ken hate each other, but they’re always kinda… awkward together… The kids agree with this too. But if this could help fight the enemy, they will cooperate with each other.
Taichi and Ken managed to meet with their kids and Daisuke. Their digimon were also present, because this is about their enemy. Daisuke took a deep breath before he could reveal something he knew. Then, when he starts… Everyone’s eyes were widened:
The enemy was trying to bring the Kaiser back, yes, but they also wanted to use him to invoke a greater threat to the world: Imperialdramon. They wanted to use Imperialdramon’s power to cause havoc in the human world, and force the humans to banish every digimon from their world, and then closing the gates around the human world.
Ken stroked his chin: This means the problem was bigger than he thought. At least it wasn’t related to some-other-digimon-he-knew (aka Millenniummon) so he was a little relieved. Chibimon could sense Wormmon was in shock, and then he added that they learned that while he and Daisuke were trying to steal the Digimental of Darkness before they could snatch it.
But that didn’t work, of course. Taichi asks why they didn't tell him before, and Daisuke looks at the floor and stays quiet. Taisuke mutters something like ‘You’re always busy, ol’ man’ which is heard by the digimon and Daisuke (because, since he’s in a digimon form his senses are pretty superhuman now) and they look at the boy. Daisuke babbles immediately that he couldn’t do that before but now he did it. Chibimon adds that Daisuke and him were ashamed of getting captured and brainwashed.
Ken muses if he is still a target, after all… Daisuke has been rescued and is back to his senses now. Daisuke frowns, he’s concerned about this form though -- If he’s really free from Papillonmon’s control. Taichi understands what that meant, and tells the kids to leave Daisuke and Chibimon with the police. Hoshi says in a serious tone that she thinks this is too harsh on them. Daisuke smiles and says Taichi’s right, he and Chibimon might still be under the enemies control and he is asking for surveillance too. Eiji frowns, but he leaves Daisuke and Chibimon in Taichi and Agumon’s hands. Kiyoko is going to kill us -- Taisuke whispers to the Ichijouji siblings. Daisuke sighs, and then makes it clear to the kids are aware that he heard them -- It’s for their children’s safety. And then entrusts Daichi and Kiyoko to those three.
Taisuke blushes, somehow. He didn’t expect to get an important task like that. Taichi and Ken ask Daisuke if this was okay and then Daisuke nods -- Those were the children who rescued him after all, and they all should trust them like their families trusted them all to beat Apocalymon and Vamdemon ages ago. Taichi nods and smiles -- Yup, they’re our children after all.
Searching for the Digimental of Darkness
Daichi, Ulforce and Natsu were looking at the infinite number of doors in that space. Ulforce wonders if they can find the right door since all of them are the same! Daichi smirks and says he had been labeling all the doors they opened with a label printer he had borrowed from Mitsuki. Natsu and Ulforce are impressed, but did he label the first door too? He reveals he had brought it with him since the first time they did space-time travel. Ulforce says HOW, but then Natsu reminds him they had been there briefly before Daichi’s decision to use that gimmick to save Daisuke.
Still, there’s a ton of doors unlabeled yet. So how could they find the one leading them to the time Daisuke and V-mon found the Digimental? Natsu suggests asking ClavisAngemon and that mysterious hooded person.
And, since she was “basically ominous” just by that mention, the woman in the hood appears in front of them. She also summons ClavisAngemon in order to lend the trio a hand. The woman notices the label printer in Daichi’s hands and asks why he had that in hands. The boy says since all of those doors have the same design and no labels, they couldn’t know where they were going, so he decided to label them by himself. She laughs kindly and reveals they could’ve used the digivice for that, since the D-TimeRune can scan the doors and point out where they could go through them. The trio stares at her, and screams in a very angry tone: WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL US FIRST!?
Daichi takes a deep breath to calm down. He just then breathes out, and shows the drawing to them -- They needed to find the door leading them to this Digimental, a door from their timeline. ClavisAngemon and the woman gasp, and her eyes are widened too. They ask why they are looking for that forbidden power, and Natsu informs them that the enemy in their timeline-bar-world had acquired and used it to put a DigiChosen against them. The woman was aware of that as well, since she can see through the doors about the past, present and the future. She is actually an overseer entity.
The trio uses the digivice this time, finding the correct door and opening it. But to their surprise, the door leads them to the human world instead. There they find a girl named Nishikawa Yume, whose appearance was pretty… familiar. She’s partnered with a YukiAgumon called Blitz. Yume knew those three were suspicious, and believed they came from the future. She’s basically the same age as him (14yo). Daichi ignored that girl and focused on finding the Digimental of Darkness quickly, BUT it felt like an impossible quest: The place Daisuke said to be where he and V-mon found it… Has no Digimental when they got there. Finding it too suspicious, Natsu uses her pendant to move through time and reach the moment the Digimental appeared. EXCEPT Yume and Blitz managed to sneak into their magical bubble-shield and witness their secret. Ulforce gets annoyed by those two, but Daichi interrupts him and asks how they got there. Yume smiles and says she knows what they’re looking for, and offers to help them, in return for a favor. What is her deal? To use Daichi’s power in order to protect someone important to her. Natsu finds it fishy, but the boy accepts the offer and makes a deal with that girl. Yume then mentions the existence of a dark passage in that area, leading them to another parallel realm where the Digimental is locked to not be caught by no one. Ulforce asks how she knows that, and she says better they do not know.
Small Yet Helpful
Koushiro, Jou and Miyako were studying Daisuke’s Pomeranimon form. They had Gennai’s help as well, but it seemed that none of them could find an answer to why Daisuke is still a digimon. Daisuke was afraid of him still being under Papillonmon’s control, hence why he asked to be kept locked and under surveillance. What if he hurts someone!? He would never forgive himself if something like that happens. Miyako ran a few more tests on Daisuke, ones that could detect digimon’s coding and digital waves on him, but thankfully nothing was found. So, something else was preventing Daisuke from returning back to his original human form. But what?
Mirai drops by and asks the adults if she could help in something, but they are still not sure if they could let her do anything. They just ask her to keep protecting the digimon and humans while they work on it. Mirai fakes a smile and then leaves. But at night she just comes back and kidnaps Pomeranimon.
When Daisuke asks her why she says she’s just upset that no one wants her giving them a hand because she’s seen as too young for that. Except she’s too smart compared to the children from her age, and this makes her frustrated because she does not know what to do then -- adults say she’s too young to help them, and children around her age say she’s too different from them to play with her. The exceptions were Taisuke and Elise (who are the same age as her), because they also feel different and weird. Daisuke frowns, and she says she wants to be a “normal” person. Daisuke replies saying it’s okay to be different, and that people should accept her for who she is. He knows Koushiro’s reasons to refuse Mirai’s help was due to the fear of him still being under the enemy’s power… So he reveals that to her. He also says maybe she could help him out, but that they kept that a secret from the others. Mirai asks what it is, and then he says “Be yourself, do what you do the best. Leave the adults to me.” With this, Mirai nods and says she will then use her expertise to find out how to bring him back to normal, but Daisuke asks her another favor -- to help Daichi as much as she can for him.
All of those requests given to the children… They sounded like either Daichi was in trouble, or Daisuke was about to die. But rest assured, it’s just Daisuke being a dramatic dad and wanting Daichi’s friends to help his son as much as they can.
Mirai and Daisuke’s convo are interrupted by a Phantomon. The small pup form for Daisuke wasn’t able to beat a Perfect level digimon, and yet…!! Mirai calls for Koh (the KoKabuterimon) help, who evolves into Kabuterimon and faces the enemy. Koh is not used to fighting, so all he does is prevent Phantomon from capturing Mirai and Daisuke. He grabs them and retreats, but Phantomon chases them. Daisuke knows he has to do something, but… Heh, he just jumps from Mirai’s arms and throws himself at Phantomon’s face. Mirai and Koh scream, and then… Mirai’s digivice shoots a light on Daisuke’s Pomeranimon form.
He evolves… Back to Lupinmon -- Except it’s Fairytail Mode Lupinmon. That new digimon form is stronger and he destroys Phantomon, but before destroying it, he snatches something from the digimon’s robes and is caught by Koh. Mirai wonders if she just formed a link with Daisuke and he’s also confused -- So, this digimon form can be linked to digivices!? Can he link himself to his old D-3 and then evolve V-mon again!? Maybe… Sure, why not try it!?
The Digimental of Darkness’ Hidden Dimension
How did Yume know about that? They were told that they were better not to know the answer, but they would go investigate that later. They managed to go there without her and Blitz, so they could have a talk about what they think of her at least. Daichi’s opinion is maybe she has a reason to not tell them where she got that info, Natsu and Ulforce’s are she’s fishy, better not trust her at all.
Said Digimental was there, Ulforce and Natsu could feel it, though they couldn’t see it. But before that, what would they do? Grab the Digimental and leave? According to Daisuke’s report, the enemy had secured the Digimental and was hunting Ken down for his digivice. But what were Daisuke & V-mon thinking to do next? Just flee? Hide the Digimental? Take it to Koushiro or Gennai? Destroy it? They had no idea what they should DO with that thing!!
Of course Daichi was aware of how Digimentals work -- you say “Digimental Up!” and then it activated the Armor Evolution. But Daichi also knew Ulforce is a V-mon, and V-mon species had an affinity to Digimentals. He wouldn’t risk turning Ulforce or Natsu into a feral monster and let them run amok. They needed a strategy.
Searching the area for the Digimental they found its guardian -- Aegiochusmon: Dark. Prepared for battle, Daichi puts Ulforce and Natsu on hold and tries to explain to Aegiochusmon why they were there. Aegiochusmon understood them, but it’s when they learn that the changes in the past wouldn’t erase/destroy the future or present, and yes that Daichi was creating new alternative timelines for them all. But how did Aegiochusmon know that? Daichi was in denial now. Natsu stays silent, and Ulforce tries to attack with his V-Bracelets. Aegiochusmon then repels the plasma shots and threatens to send them to the null area if they don’t leave.
Daichi keeps refusing that information, Ulforce orders Aegiochusmon to give them the Digimental, but the other refuses to. Natsu grabs both Ulforce and Daichi, thanks Aegiochusmon and leaves immediately. The boys complain hard and criticize her behavior, but she ignores them. Daichi was feeling she was hiding something from them. Then, she suggests they find the Digimental of Miracles to counter-attack the Digimental of Darkness. Ulforce wonders why Miracles and not Light -- The Digimental of Light is the opposite of the Digimental of Darkness after all. The logic lied more in the sacred power and high defensive stats the Digimental of Miracles could give them.
With this… They returned to their present again.
Another Kind of Trouble (?)
Remember when I said there’s two main enemies before? The other issue making Taichi lose brain cells to put an end to the conflict was the anti-digimon people. Despite having the entire world’s populace partnered with digimon, some of those people hated them and had awful relationships with the digimon -- might become a bit heavy here, but -- such as abusing them, harming them and even trying to end their lives… Or using them for crimes.
Criminals are “easy” to deal with, at least. You arrest the human and send their partner to some sort of a victim protection program to keep the digimon safer from the toxic human tamer… And then “undo” their partnership -- not that they end the connection between human and digimon, but they send it back to the Digital World to be taken care of by a special group of caregivers formed by digimon and humans habiting the DW.
As for abuse, harm or murder attempt cases… Those are harder and it’s just like what happens to human beings, but they couldn’t let the digimon return to those people’s hands. So they’re completely sent to the same group of caregivers and under the victim protection program. Things might be harder than dealing with a human being though, and no one wants those digimon victims to be devolved into digiegg stage.
The rest of the Neo Chosen group is focused on saving the digimon from bad partners, while Daichi is out. They’re forced to protect the digimon before the human partner triggers a dark evolution and go amok, so many times those kids had no other choice but revert the wild feral dark evolution into an egg or baby form. With the help of the police, the adults would arrest the toxic tamer and never let their digimon see them again -- unless they redeem themselves and repent for their actions. Because yeah, those kids and their parents/relatives would hope for the best and happy ending.
But digimon taking control over their partners also exist. Criminal digimon abusing their human partners, forcing them to commit crimes, to evolve them so they could hurt and destroy stuff also exist and are on the top of the list for things the Neo Chosen and their families have to combat. In this case the human is protected from the digimon, and the digimon is forced back to digiegg state.
Some of those cases ended up with the rest of the kids unlocked Adult and Perfect evolution for their partners:
Elise: BlackGabumon → B.Garurumon and B.WereGarurumon
Mike: Floramon → Sunflowmon and Lilamon
Jin: Kamemon → Gawappamon and Shawujinmon
Reika: Armadimon → Ankylomon and Triceramon
Mitsuki: Tsukaimon → Pidmon and HolyAngemon
Mirai’s partner, Koh, would super evolve later, but at this point she was just busy working behind the curtains and working as some sort of navigator-esque character.
Another problem they have to face is people very Menoa-like trying to build mindless human-made digimon for military and war purposes. Taichi & co. hated this case so badly that the authorities and agents like Yamada Kyotaro (also known by “Imura Kyotaro”) would put a stop on any program or project involving this kind of research and manufacture.
But a part of their worries was definitely Papillonmon’s plans -- where did he go and what will he do now?
Clash Between Daichi and Soleil
The “Space trio” -- Soleil, Lune and Étoile -- kept working on their own way: In the shadows and doing the sneaky job. They met with Daichi in the meantime, when the boy was seeking for the Holy Beasts. Soleil uses a prophetic voice tone saying Daichi is too soft for the world-saving job and that he was selected as the savior of the worlds by Homeostasis. Natsu and Ulforce definitely argue with Soleil that Homeostasis don’t go and threaten people like him. Soleil is so sure Daichi, Ulforce and Natsu are disobeying the “divine” orders and unleashes his fury on them -- claiming himself to be the embodiment of Justice.
A fight happens between Flaremon and AeroV-dramon. Lune realizes Ulforce is an interesting digimon specimen and tells Lekismon to stop the fight by putting Flaremon and AeroV-dramon in sleep. Soleil growls at the interruption, but he calms down when Lune justifies just letting Daichi and co. roll with it, because things would’ve been more “interesting” -- no one besides Lune herself knew what that meant (it means she wanted to study Daichi’s methods and philosophy, that’s it.)
Étoile suspiciously drops a card on Natsu, asking to meet her later… Without Daichi and Ulforce. The card also meant it wasn’t a trap, just a human-to-digimon talk. Natsu accepts the terms, and waits for Étoile later, on a… Digimon bar. This bar had everything -- Alcohol and non-alcohol, also oil and other non-human drinks. Why would a human kid want to meet her there?!
Turns out that… Étoile is not human.
Natsu noticed it by the fact Étoile did not appear as Étoile, and yes as an enigmatic and elusive digimon named Arsenemon. He was like her and Arukenimon & Mummymon, or Bakemon species -- a digimon able to shapeshift into a human being. He had chosen that form in order to hide from Lupinmon and protect his archnemesis Herlockmon -- now devolved into a purple Pokomon/Viximon subspecies. Natsu realized something was familiar to her… Daisuke was Lupinmon, but he did not turn back to normal and just reverted into a small baby II level digimon after he was rescued. Could this mean…??
Arsenemon says that he’s aware that Daisuke did not do anything purposely and was a victim, but he was so done with Papillonmon and his lackeys for that. But he also suspected that someone was pretending to be Homeostasis and just manipulating Soleil and Lune under the curtains. Natsu nods in agreement -- Homeostasis does not talk like that at all, they’re not a god-like figure, it’s just a security system for the Digital World.
But who?
The Holy Beast, Yume and Daichi
Before continuing, Daichi and co returned and reported to Daisuke and the others about their discoveries -- Daisuke got a little sad they couldn’t prevent it from happening, but Eiji says that might be for a good cause… They talked to the adults about this too, and then Ken mused about Natsu’s idea to use the Digimental of Miracles to counter the Digimental of Darkness. Yet they had no idea what would happen next, like what Papillonmon would do, or if there’s a way to bring Daisuke back to normal. Then, he asked the kids to search for an old acquaintance of the group, one of the Holy Beasts he and the others had met before in their childhood. Daisuke suggested going with them, but Hikari quietly asked if it was safe to let Daisuke go with them in this state. Koushiro interrupted them saying there’s still something off with Daisuke and they couldn’t take their eyes off him. When the kids asked why, Daisuke changed his mind and said he must stay under surveillance. Mirai frowned, this didn’t sound correct…
Actually Daisuke, for being able to “evolve” into Lupinmon again because of Mirai… Had made Daisuke himself concerned of not being free from Papillonmon’s power, not from his mind control (this one was already undone by Daichi) -- so he feared running amok soon or later.
Now, after facing Soleil and Natsu had talked with Étoile… the trio plus Taisuke, Kiyoko, Eiji and Hoshi wander through the Digital World, as a group. They ran through a few issues, but nothing big. To meet the Holy Beasts, they have to contact one of the Digital World’s agents (aka Gennai’s kind, or Gennai himself) -- But this is where they… had no idea how to meet an agent.
Yume appears with her partner YukiAgumon (named Blitz) and she asks Daichi if he got what he wanted. The others minus Natsu and Ulforce glance at Daichi and “do you know this girl?” but Daichi completely ignores their question and replies to Yume with a nod and adds that he couldn’t get the Digimental but they came up with another plan to countermeasure it. Then, Yume asks what it is and Hoshi whispers to Daichi to not tell that girl anything… Except he ignores his friends again and tells Yume that they’re looking for the Holy Beasts.
Yume smiles and says she knows those digimon, making everyone exclaim in shock. Natsu raises an eyebrow because how could that human girl know the Holy Beasts? That’s fishy…!!
But Yume takes them to the area where the one she knows the most reigns and it’s…
Baihumon.
Kiyoko blinks, “Shouldn’t we be meeting a blue dragon instead?” and the group confirms it. Yume says Baihumon is an old acquaintance of her father, and that they barely meet nowadays. Taisuke wonders if the Holy Beasts are all partnered with humans and then Eiji -- in his very smart aleck mode -- remembers them about the fact some books and digimon folklore mentions that four of the five Chosen Children digimon have ascended into the final form as the Holy Beasts. Ulforce, Natsu and the rest of the digimon confirm it. Taisuke then asks what happened to the fifth digimon from that group and then none of the digimon or Eiji knew. Yume then slips something like “they died in combat” and Daichi frowns, he goes straight to the point: “Are you related to the fifth Chosen and their digimon?”
Baihumon interrupts them, asking why Yume brought those people and digimon to him. She gently says they’re looking for the Digimental of Miracles, to counter the power of the Digimental of Darkness. Baihumon seems surprised by the mention of that wicked Digimental, and then asks the kids what happened to its guardian. Again, none of them know what happened to Aegiochusmon: Dark, but Taisuke jumps into the conclusion that that guardian had betrayed everyone! Eiji thinks the most realistic conclusion is either that or that the enemies beat the guardian.
Daichi wasn’t that interested in the theories revolving around what happened to Aegiochusmon, but he definitely got some interest on Yume’s behavior when Taisuke asked about what happened to the fifth kid and their partner digimon. But this is everything Yume wanted, actually -- to lure Daichi into her own selfish plan.
Baihumon then decides he will talk to the other Holy Beasts and pass their reports to them, he’s a courteous but not so friendly digimon though, but he kept contact with human beings because of Qinglongmon and his human partner. Seems like he was hiding something too, considering he didn’t say anything regarding his fifth old comrade… Hoshi notices that Daichi is too quiet to the point it’s suspicious, so once they’re back to the human world she asks him what’s going on. Daichi mentions he’s not very sure why, but both Baihumon and Yume were acting strangely when Taisuke asked that question, and Taisuke himself starts wondering if they should investigate that. Kiyoko and Eiji remind them that there’s a digi-crisis happening right now and they shouldn’t get distracted by this. Hoshi suspiciously agrees with Taisuke -- that they should go with it. The kids look at Natsu for a while, and she shrugs. It’s futile to discuss with them, but she also thinks it won’t hurt to research about some fellow Chosen Child while they wait for the Holy Beasts’ decision.
Meeting Baihumon’s Human Partner
With the power of Mirai and Mitsuki’s investigative skills, the group reach a man running a coffee shop in Tokyo called Nishijima Daigo. He was possibly in his late forties and was different from the kind of partner the group had thought of -- He was a completely charismatic, caring and lovely person… Also a walking mess.
Meeting mr. Nishijima made Daichi even more curious about Yume’s true personality -- there was something off in her, yet something… familiar. The kids ask the man about the Digital World he had met in the past, and his reaction is… He completely changed his mood to someone more serious. He asks those young Chosen how did they know about him and his connection to Baihumon, and then Hoshi says his daughter told them. He almost burns his coffee brew by the mention of Yume. He sighs, so she’s doing that again huh… But how they knew about his child was a mystery. Daichi then explains to the man that they met before, a few years ago in 2024 during a mission (he’s not sure IF he can give the details of holding the power to space-time travel though… So not many people are aware of Daichi having said power… yet) and it makes Nishijima wonder which kind of mission would this kid have been involved in to cross with Yume’s path.
It doesn’t matter, Nishijima then tells them to not let her convince them from doing something risky. This makes Eiji raise an eyebrow -- What does Nishijima mean? It’s when the man writes down a few things on a paper napkin and hands it to Natsu (assuming she’s an adult human and responsible for them) with the vague phrase of “Do not let her know about this, but search it by yourselves.”
They left after a brief break to eat a few pastries and non-alcohol drinks from the café, praising Nishijima’s cuisine and cooking skills -- which made the man go back to his good mood and bubbly personality.
Once they left, they had to think about where to go to search for… a person named Himekawa Maki. Eiji suggests them searching in the Digital World’s library -- the Tree of Knowledge. That sounded like a good plan!! But Taisuke just thinks they should ask for Mirai’s help. They look at the boy for a moment and Daichi says, with a deadpan face, “Both? Both. Both is good” -- The mention of that meme makes them realize Daichi is in better shape than he was years ago. So they go to the Tree of Knowledge with Mirai and Koh.
Himekawa Maki’s Secret Life
Nishijima didn’t clarify things enough. The kids and their mons were wondering what kind of role this Himekawa Maki person would have in Yume’s life, but then they would just find a picture of this person in the database and realize that… Himekawa Maki is Yume’s mother.
Or to be more accurate, was. They learned through those archives that she died in a digimon incident after she had given birth to Yume, months later.
The causes of her death weren’t totally depicted to the public archives, which lead the kids to think something more and more serious had happened and their parents had to hide from the public. If they ask their families, there is a high chance of leading them to more misleadings than someone being pretty honest about this. Something… Maybe Nishijima wanted to hide that from Yume and asked them all to keep it a secret? So Ulforce asks them what they should do now, and then Taisuke dramatically gestures to the Know-It-All Genius Junior Izumi Mirai. Oh, that was Taisuke’s backup plan!! There’s nothing that Mirai cannot discover!!
So Mirai starts inspecting the files, the database and even running into some archives protected by password. Seeing a key requirement made them believe that yeah, there’s something behind this all and they had to pass by a permission key wall. It’s when Mirai chuckles and starts bragging about her new ‘gimmick’ -- a virtual replica of the Digimental of Knowledge, containing the Digimental data stored into her D-TimeRune Digivice. Everyone was so impressed by that that they wondered how she managed to get a Digimental for that, and then she said she copied the data from mr. Hida’s digivice.
But why should they use a Digimental data to bypass the permission wall? And then, she reveals about Koh’s armor evolution -- Searchmon. Everyone isn’t sure what that meant, but then she proceeds to demonstrate that trick. She armor evolves Koh with that data to Searchmon, and then Koh uses his Jamming Hertz special move on the wall. Thanks to it, the wall malfunctioned and then it opened the files, as if the key was input. Taisuke asks how she did that, and then Eiji theorizes that Searchmon’s attack might have worked as some sort of key-gen and generated a permission key to access those archives. Hoshi asks why wouldn’t they just protect those archives with a strong password and then Taisuke smirks and gushes that Mirai would’ve found her own way to bypass that too. Kiyoko reminds them that her and Daichi’s mother is an excellent hacker too, so it wouldn’t be that hard. (Was Kiyoko jealous? Who knows~)
Once they get access to those files, they start reading them all and looking for anything that could lead to answers… Until Kiyoko finds out something.
The group gathers to the screen she was reading and they learn that Himekawa and Nishijima were part of a prior group, one before ambassador Yagami’s group. And that those five kids faced the Dark Masters trio, but they were beaten. Himekawa’s anger led Megadramon (Bakumon’s perfect level form) to evolve further and then become Mugendramon -- who would later be corrupted and then become the forth Dark Master. The other four kids and their digimon had unlocked the form of the Holy Beasts for their partners and they had no other choice but destroy Mugendramon, reverting it into a corrupted Digiegg. Gennai and the others had to hide this secret from Himekawa for ages, that Bakumon’s egg had hatched later and then that Mugendramon turned into the same tyrant ruler of the Metal Empire area ambassador Yagami and the others had faced in 1999. This secret was kept from everyone else, so none of the Tokyo Twelve (Taichi and Daisuke groups, actually) were aware of it. But Himekawa ended up doing everything she could to bring Bakumon back from the Dark Area, leading to a brand new digimon crisis… And in the end, she was killed by her own partner once she managed to get Mugendramon’s data. This was months after she and Nishijima had a child on October 19 2013, named Yume. Nishijima begged everyone to hide this info from his daughter, so of course he and Baihumon wouldn’t say anything about it.
But… Does it mean Yume learned the truth? She was kinda bugged by Taisuke’s question and Daichi mentions he heard her saying “they died in combat” -- so maybe Yume's not aware of the truth, but maybe some sort of fakery story where her mother died as some heroine?
Yes. Yume’s story about her mother was totally covering the bad parts of it: She was trying to help the Chosen Children, but sacrificed herself in order to save everyone.
No one noticed until now, but Mirai had brought Daisuke inside her purse (because… She was convinced that he wasn’t a baddie anymore, and they were bonding quite well as mentor-mentee) and he did witness the entire story. He gets out from the purse and exclaims that they never had imagined that! The kids get surprised by this sneaky Pomeranimon and Mirai babbles that she couldn’t leave him inside a cage like a lab rat! Hoshi says she shouldn’t have done that, because they don’t know if mr. Motomiya is trustworthy in this form. Kiyoko growls “Huh? Are you saying MY dad is sketchy and cannot be trusted!?” but Daisuke interrupts the possible fight to remind them they don’t know if he’s totally free from Papillonmon’s power. But Eiji’s curious about why Mirai would bring him with her, it didn’t feel like she was just taking him for a walk (Daisuke: Hey! Stop treating me like I’m a pet!! 💦) and she confesses she just thought he could help them out too, also having access to the data there could help her to find a way to turn him back into a human being.
Could this be possible? Well, if you’re in a place with tons of information and it’s called “Tree of Knowledge”, it might have the answer to that main issue. At least it’s what Mirai thought.
But going back to the main subject, Daichi realizes that “Nishikawa” might not be her real name, and yes some portmanteau of her parents names, an ALIAS. They checked the database and there was no Nishikawa person affiliated to Nishijima, he never got married again. But why would she hide her true identity…?
Yume’s Real Plan
If anything, Yume had an ambitious plan which her father had already discovered: She wanted to go back in the past and prevent her mother from sacrificing her life to save the world. In the same napkin he handed to the kids had also a plea: Please do not let Yume discover the truth, and do not let her get in touch with Mastemon.
Kiyoko frowns, “Who’s Mastemon?” and then they start scrutinizing the Tree of Knowledge’s database in order to discover about this Mastemon. Then they learn about this jogress digimon, able to travel through space-time and create portals. Natsu blinks, and then she looks at her pendant. Daichi and Ulforce look at her, and she mentions that… she possibly had inherited those powers from Mastemon -- but she’s not Mastemon herself!
So this means when Yume caught them in the past it probably drove her into the idea of using that power to go back in time and save her mother, and this sounded too familiar for Daichi… To the point he’s ashamed. Well, now he knows that no matter what he does in the past, it only creates a new setting of events for a brand new divergent timeline. He explains it to the kids, now that he’s less obsessed with that power. Kiyoko frowns again, so this means no matter what Yume does, she might never bring her mother back in this timeline… Natsu nods with a sad expression on her face.
But how to convince Yume she shouldn’t do that, that it won’t change their reality and will only cause her more grief? They started to think, and think… Daisuke sighs and says the only option is to tell her that, and hope for the best. Hoshi politely asks what would they do if she does not listen to them, and then Daisuke says they should just break Natsu’s pendant then. Natsu babbles desperately that she cannot destroy it, what if they need it later!? Mirai suggests leaving the pendant with mr. Gennai then, he’s trustworthy!! But Taisuke thinks they could leave it with the Holy Beasts, they could be able to secure that power from anyone else. But Daichi’s opinion is that they should keep it with that hooded woman from the Dimensional Space, or with ClavisAngemon. There were so many options… Daisuke keeps insisting they shouldn’t play with things involving space-time powers, that this is too much responsibility and no one responsible enough should be trusted with it. Then Natsu just thinks this is a burden because she was hated by people for having it, and Daisuke says you’re not a burden and I admire you for being this strong to carry this responsibility. Daichi jokes that “yeah, I can't be trusted with a power like this” and Ulforce and Natsu just agree with him, seriously.
Daichi blames himself for making Yume get interested in time-travel, possibly because this means something happened back in 2024 and gave her those ideas, so maybe he accidentally made a “time loop” -- and now he, Natsu and Ulforce are stuck in it. Kiyoko raises an eyebrow: If you said that anything you altered in the past created new events for new timelines, how can you be so sure it was you who met Yume in the past and gave her that idea?
Mirai also agrees that Daichi’s idea is in conflict with what was told by Aegiochusmon: Dark, so it would make no sense unless…
Oh no.
That Yume came from the past. Not from the future.
But what happened to the Yume from their actual time? Did she vanish or something?? The actual Yume would’ve been a little older than Daichi, right? If she was born in 2013… Taisuke and Daisuke gasp and think that both cannot exist in the same place!! Mirai agrees, the digimon also nod sagely, while Hoshi gives up on that talk -- It’s too much for her brain. Eiji deduces that Yume actually caused some kind of time paradox. Hoshi now is not even paying attention to the whole geek-like conversation and just started playing some game on her phone. Kitty asks if the two Yumes gathered into one? The others question if that’s possible though…
Daichi interrupts them to say maybe they should just send Yume from the past back to 2024 and tell her to not mess with space-time. But then… Draki (BlackAgumon) asks how Yume came to the future in the first place…
… They look at Daichi, who takes a moment to notice that maybe she had followed him there.
Oh well… Ulforce says they have to talk with her soon or later, and then Captain just “Well, like now?” and then they all look behind and here she and Blitz are. Taisuke gasps, shouting “DID SHE HEAR US!?” and hides behind Kiyoko and Hoshi. Seems like Taisuke was afraid of that girl since she met them and he innocently asked that question. Daichi asks if she heard them all, and how long she was there, to only have her stare at them seriously.
So everyone lied about his mother, about everything. She wasn’t a heroine but some villain. Yume didn’t want to believe it, and she wouldn’t. She keeps demanding them to help her save Himekawa because her mother wouldn’t have done something cruel like that and that everyone was lying about her. Daisuke tries to calm her down, saying something like “she wasn’t a villain but more like someone who got a terrible traumatic experience in the past” Daichi realizes his father is talking about something he doesn’t know, something Daisuke himself was hiding from him. Yume refuses to hear them out, and she keeps thinking none of them care about saving a victim. She knew the Digital World’s entities were cruel, and it made Blitz kinda sad. Blitz is the only friend Yume had her whole life, but not much talkative. But then Blitz tries to reason with Yume, saying that’s not true, after all they became friends and then partners!! Was Yume forgetting their bonds now? To condemn the Digital World to be the one to take her mother’s life?!
It’s when Daisuke just jumps from Mirai’s purse and stands in front of Yume. He wants to just talk to her, but she keeps refusing them. It’s when he just reveals what Natsu was trying to hide from Daichi -- That he was also a victim of the digimon, BUT that didn’t make him hate them at all. Daichi’s eyes widen, and the kids just exclaim “What!?” -- Yume included. Natsu was silent, but she thinks Daisuke didn’t need to go this far to talk about his past.
Then, Daisuke tells them that a digimon named Vamdemon had invaded Odaiba when he was a kid, on August 3rd 1999. He was just seven years old and he and his family were captured by Vamdemon’s minions and taken to the Tokyo Big Sight. There, he was separated from his family and put in a room with all of the kids residing in Odaiba, or the visitors from that day. He heard some of those bad guys talking about finding the Eighth Chosen Child, and he remembered seeing Tailmon for the first time in his life, way before he learned Tailmon was Yagami Hikari’s digimon partner. But he also adds that that encounter didn’t make him hate the digimon because he saw Taichi and his friends with their partners too, and how they saved Odaiba made him wish to be as strong as them. He admits he didn’t trust the digimon before, but once he met V-mon three years later, he had the chance to learn more and change his mind.
Daichi then asks Mirai if Chibimon was inside the purse and she chuckles nervously. (Yes he was inside too, but sleeping like a rock)
Yume blinks, how can a digimon be so sure about her feelings… Daisuke says he’s human trapped in a curse for now, but being a digimon for a while is making him realize how hard it might be to those digimon, and he thinks now the digi-rebels might not be entirely evil and yes digimon afraid of the unknown. She gives him a timid smile, maybe Daisuke really had a way to change people’s hearts.
Blitz says Yume and her should go back to 2024 and abandon that idea of saving Yume’s mother. Yume understands, but she wants to stay in the future now… Natsu says she can’t and that this was creating a time paradox with the Yume from 2029, in which they can’t exist in the same place at all because she’s not from a parallel world. Kiyoko gets some interest on why can’t there exist two Yumes from the same timeline, and why Natsu is implying that if one of them came from a different world this would be okay. Eiji explains that it’s because this Yume came from the past, which means the future Yume cannot exist anymore if had time-travel to the future. Hoshi thinks this is too much for her head all over again and decides before they send Yume back, they should just have fun together, at least.
Now that they solved that part… Maybe they could focus on Papillonmon’s next moves, right?

Wildling- werecat trevor
too many vampire/werewolf trevor stories. Why not catshifter? he likes climbing/sleeping in trees, avoiding people, and broke a mans leg once for abusing a cat.
summery- Trevor wasn't a social butterfly like Sypha or a classy vampire prince like Adrien, despite being born into lordship. Compared to them Trevor lived like a feral alley cat half his life and often acted as such. One day he was alone the next he had two people he might come to call friends.
Still instinct and habit are hard things to hold back for a stray sometimes, even with how much he's come to trust, maybe love the two. Especially when it came to the three key rules to survival.
1 always be ready for a fight whether it be for defense, a place to sleep, or food, letting your guard down could mean death.
2 if you know you can't win a fight, bluff your way out. Half of the time intimidation was more than enough to suffice against an opponent.
3 injuries should be kept hidden at all costs. Injuries and sickness mean weakness. It makes him a target for an easy meal.
-backstory- Not long after the manor was burned, a witch catches him stealing food, it was supposed to be a punishment, she had a reputation after all, but hopefully the mild curse she gives him should help this child survive long enough to fulfill his part in the prophecy. She didn’t know it would take it upon itself to evolve alongside him afterwards. it was never intended to give him a beast form, semi immortality, or let him bear children alongside their wife.
-They didn’t leave Alucard after Dracula's death, but Trevor ends up called away for a hunt. After coming home and sleeping off injuries for a week Trevor wakes with a sense of foreboding and the smell of strangers. Meanwhile Alucard allows the twins to explore his family's hold. The conflict awakens something within that has started to wake the need to claim what’s his
-the mirror still works. Sypha uses it to fill her travel urges, and to drag Trevor home when he wanders off and gets hurt.
-Trevor is touch starved but also unused to good touches so he still tenses. Does not like being woken up suddenly because of past experiences and may punch or stab because of it. Can NOT sleep easily without a knife or two under his pillow.
-before the fight with the twins it was very subtle, he had slightly sharper senses especially for magic, reflexes, agility, strength, instincts that were more suited to help in his hunts, awareness focused than anything. Had sharp teeth but not unusually so, kitten noises were very subdued and rare, will either sit still for hours or pace relentlessly depending on the situation, still can't help but pee everywhere though.
-the night the twins try to kill Alucard is when it peaks, the second he smells burning flesh, fuck his wounds he runs to Al and pounces on the threat.
-His full form is only slightly taller, still shorter than Al, his claws ears tail come and go while still trying to learn control, very likely to pop up when hes emotional. more noticeable fangs even without shifting, his little ticks get worse, purrs and growls more openly, is slowly getting comfortable with giving hugs and cheek rubs.
-he can get pregnant cause why not? he's still repressing depression about the whole last Belmont thing and the curse takes advantage of it. But it only after Sypha starts playing with the peen book and they double up on their ‘cute kitten’ which a month latter he spends a week wondering where this mild fever came from and why he’s suddenly extra touch starved and attempting to control his hornyness even though they both have suddenly been looking at him like starved dogs, it doesn't help that he's also somehow lost the ability of human language. No one realizes it for a long while until its kind of obvious.
-Ot3. sypha gets to be semi immortal too cause magic
And yes the witch is catwoman
This is as far as I got...
Trever was very much like a cat the two observed.
But considering what little he told them about his life when they first explored the hold, it was sort of understandable that a homeless 12 year old lordling would turn feral.
(after they ask about it)
He didn’t blame her for it, Selina had been one of the kinder ones, and only half trained as he was at the time; it was a lesson of caution in itself.
It had only been a week after the fire. He still smelled of ash no matter how many rivers he dunked into. He had plenty of practice navigating the wilderness, but before there had always been someone with him. Showing him what to do and never without food. A whip wasnt very good for hunting at his current level of skill.
So when he happened across what he thought was an empty house with a garden and dried meats hanging

Alright here's the dream and a bullet-point summary since I want to actually do stuff today. Feel free to use as a story prompt.
I dreampt there was a girl named Annie, who was having a sleepover party and she and all her friends had just gotten back from a flea market where they'd bought a bunch of stuff they were looking at and playing with, like old board games, jewelry, and some perfumes.
Including one that Annie had bought, which was in a tall rectangular glass bottle, with dark red liquid, called “Queen Anne's Lace”. Her name being Annie, of course she had to get it.
They were in her room testing out her new purchases when she decided to see what this perfume really smelled like, because there'd been a sign at the stall selling them that you weren't allowed to test perfumes there (because it was indoors, and people with asthma exist). And then they'd been too busy looking around outside to try it somewhere away from people.
Anne had a big window behind her bed, which she opened before she sprayed the perfume, in case it smelled horrible and stank up the room.
But no sooner did she spray it that...
...Well, she lost consciousness.
She was later told that a sudden gust of wind had poured in through the window with hurricane-like force, and then just as suddenly, sucked straight back out again - - knocking Annie violently backwards out the window.
She dreampt she was in the spirit world, and met Monkey, a short little self-described grey demon, who had dark purple and brown striped skin, a pointed muzzle, a very short tail, and very large pointed ears.
Monkey told Anne that the perfume she'd sprayed on herself was the last remnant of an ancient magical artifact, which had summoned him, and he was to be her guide from now on until she died and joined him in the spirit world. As long as he wasn't busy in the spirit realm, that is.
She woke up in the hospital, assuming it was a dream, only for Monkey to still be there.
He acted as her eyes, reading things to her, telling her where to go and what was in the way, ect.
As they got to know eachother better and bonded more he began to change, growing taller, his skin turning bluer, growing an armadillo shell(?) on his back, and getting a fox-like tail.
Eventually there was some sort of emergency in the spirit realm where the other spirits were pissed at Monkey thinking he'd cheated them all somehow because he was evolving but they weren't, and they were trying to kill him. So Annie used the perfume again, and this time its effects caused her to get hit by a car by being shoved into the road by the wind.
This time when she appeared in the spirit realm she wasn't human anymore, she was a half-caterpillar spirit thing.
She found Monkey and helped confront the other spirits with him, and Monkey revealed that apparently all the time they'd been bonding, the magical connection of their souls had been reverse-engineering the spellbook their connection originally came from.
All the demons had been promised such a spellbook to let them connect with a human soul so they could have that magical bond and also evolve, but someone hundreds of years ago had destroyed them all
Monkey and Annie ended up having to flee the crowd, and ran into a giant butterfly chimera thing. The butterfly was them in the future, bonded into one final form that contained both their souls. Fully evolved spirits could time travel apparently.
Their future selves told them that their bond was almost ready to complete the recovered spellbook, and all they had to do was return to Earth, and their future selves would take care of problems on this end by teaching the other spirits how to write their own spellbooks from their template.
Annie woke up in the hospital again, this time missing her right leg below the knee. I still don't know why.
And they lived happily ever after.

The Book to Mini-series adaption "Looking for Alaska" will win your heart
"Looking for Alaska" is a master-piece that stands out as one of the best book-to-series adaptations. I vividly recall the days when I was completely immersed in John Green's "Looking for Alaska". Each day, I eagerly anticipated the next twist in the story. The world of Culver Creek felt so relatable, brimming with emotions. When I began watching the series, it felt like I was reliving the book all over again.
The story is narrated by Miles, an unassuming boy who enrolls at Culver Creek. From the moment he steps onto the campus, the journey of self-discovery, fun, pranks, and the coming-of-age for each character unfolds in its own unique way. The series perfectly captures the atmosphere of Culver Creek. As soon as Miles arrives, he is given the nickname "Pudge" by his roommate, Chip. Just like in the book, the characters vividly portray the pleasures and pains of teenage envy and rivalry.
The relatability of the characters is what makes this story resonated so deeply with me.
As Pudge and Chip's friendship develops, the series reveals how they evolve from being mere acquaintances to the best of friends—practically brothers. Chip is an emotional yet strong character who stands firmly for what is right. Many of the pranks they pull off are successful, thanks to him. Together, Chip, Pudge, and Takumi form a close-knit group.
We are then introduced to the heroine of the story, Alaska Young. She is moody, spontaneous, secretive, bookish, a feminist, and carries a tough past. She’s flirty, dreamy, and ultimately unattainable. One detail I absolutely adored about her is that she named herself when she was young.
Pudge feels butterflies fluttering in his stomach when he first meets Alaska Young. Initially, he’s drawn to her confidence and her strategic mind when it comes to planning pranks. Though unspoken, she naturally assumes the role of the group's leader, while Chip is the one who brings their plans to life.
With time progressing, the group begins to grow, and their bond appears to be stronger. The story further prospers with an assignment given in the classroom. Everyone ponders the topic chosen by Alaska Young: That’s the mystery, isn’t it? Is the labyrinth alive or dead? Which is he trying to escape—the world or the end of it?”
Till then, readers presumably assume that we have a decent assumption about the character of Alaska. But as we keep going forward with the story, we sense that unlikeable characters from Alaska keep appearing to others, including Pudge. Even though others might not be ready to accept the hidden Alaska, Pudge thinks otherwise; he feels the need to understand her more and struggles with choices'. No matter what, Pudge still supports Chip and Alaska. Pudge goes through the grey area of knowing the real Alaska. He trusts her and gives her the assurance that he is there for her in any circumstances. Yes, Alaska Young has a dark past. And she struggles with it, holding the wound deep. Pudge walks with her, even though darker shades of Alaska keep appearing.
"Looking for Alaska" becomes more than a teen drama when Alaska dies.
A big story turn happens in the middle, which is unusual compared to other novels. In most of the stories, big turns either take place at the end of the novel or right upfront at the beginning.
"Looking for Alaska" is sadly deemed a teen story, but for me, it was more than a masterpiece. It answers the important questions about life, uncertainties, traumas, and kindness. And how the real story of a person is hidden underneath the layers of their heart. And everyone, including Alaska, wanted to know how to break the labyrinth of suffering. It's still a mystery.
But Pudge finds the answers.
Pudge narrates the reason for the heartbreaking question to Takumi. He quotes, “If only we could see the endless string of consequences that result from our smallest actions, but we can’t know better until knowing better is useless." They couldn’t have known, though they wish they had. The irony is ever-present and well-placed. Pudge realises that he will never discover Alaska’s last words, nor will he ever know whether she chose to end her life or if it was an accident they might have prevented. He will carry these questions and the uncertainty that comes with them for the rest of his life.
Overall, the actors did a fantastic job. The direction and the production team also justified the book. It's a must-watch for book lovers.
Series rating - 4.5/5

Giraffe's Eye View | Mothra (1962) REVIEW
Wondering why the sudden case of Deja Vu? It's because this was posted as one long review called 'BINGE WEEK', but I've decided to shorten it for the sake of your sanity and mine. If you're interested in my previous review, click here for my thoughts on Princess Mononoke! For now though, onwards to a grand adventure!
Before becoming Godzilla's most hated foe turned girlfriend, the Queen of the Monsters led her own solo outing in 1962, complete with a poster proudly proclaiming her as the 'mightiest monsters in all creation'. Uh huh. Much as I love Mothra, the mightiest monster in all creation wouldn't keep dying at the end of nearly every freak'n film they're in! At the very least she makes for a better dinner guest than her big, green, radioactive boyfriend. Still, does she make an equally compelling star of cinema? Let's take a look at Mothra (1962) to find out!
Before we begin through, allow me to backtrack a bit. Anybody who read my review of Princess Mononoke saw I made a big stink about subbing vs dubbing, my preference being dubbing so I could simply focus on the story being visually. My attempts to do that again here were met with my missing crucial plot points, the English cast being a tad incomprehensible at times. I tried Googling the dubbing cast so I could better understand why I was having a hard time understanding them, but efforts my searches bore no fruit. Eventually I decided I'd just switch over to the original Japanese version, so at the very least I could read the plot points as they happen. You win this round subbers! I'M NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT! With all that said though, what goes on in this movie?
Our adventure starts with a ship caught in the middle of a hurricane, its crew having to seek refuge on a nearby island poisoned with radiation. Eventually they're found, perfectly fine much to the shock of everyone back on the mainland. The crew explains they managed to survive thanks to the aid of the island's natives, prompting a expedition to gather more information. Upon arriving the explorers discover that the island is as green and fertile as Poison Ivy's playhouse, complete with hostile plants. Our lead protagonist Chujo (Hiroshi Koizumi) nearly becomes supper for vines when a duo of foot-tall females help him, later revealed to be fairies. Chujo manages to talk to them using his skills as a linguist, only for their greedy funder Nelso (Jerry Ito) to kidnap them. Just saying dude, there are easy ways to get a date.
Especially considering these two ladies have some powerful friends in high places. Having not seen King Kong or Atlantis: The Lost Empire enough times, the greedy executives takes the two fairies home to be presented to the public, only for the two of them to summon the titular Mothra. This is why whenever you go on vacation, it's better to just get a key chain or postcard from the souvenir shop as apposed to people. Swag like that doesn't result in giant bugs destroying half the country.
From there it's the typical Kaiju chaos you expect from a Toho presentation, Mothra being immune to conventional weapons, mowing down cities like a lawnmower over grass, even evolving into a more destructive butterfly form. Turns out Spongebob and Patrick were totally right to be terrified of Sandy's pet caterpillar. Fortunately our human protagonists are much smarter, finding a way to appease Mothra before inevitably returning the fairies to her. This movie is a good argument in favor of human characters being interesting in a giant monster movie, since they help build suspense before Mothra's arrival while also providing some much-needed comedy. Development for these characters are lacking and not every joke lands, but I can say I was much more invested in these folks then any of the human protagonists of Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Admit it, you can't remember any of their names either! The main draw in either film is of course the monster. Mothra seems to have as much screen time in either flick, though this movie pulls out a win by not having her die at the end! Wait, you can do that? Somehow that's less believable than a giant bug demolishing Tokyo. In any case this movie holds up surprisingly well six decades later, though it would be nice to see it rebooted for modern times. Until that inevitably happens, feel free to find a copy of the original and behold the might of Mothra!
While you do that, I might as well continue this Japanese craze I'm going though with some anime!

Ever since they were young, the concept of romance intimidated the hell out of Sage. Their parents weren’t a stable definition of love – mostly staying together for the sake of already being married and not wanting to deal with the trouble of divorce. They both had partners on the side, caused drama, and fought regularly, but in the end, they did always choose one another. That, in all reality, had been what Sage thought their future would entail: fights, half-assed trials, and pathetic excuses for infatuation. Relationships for them were either 'real-world' relationships where both parties are completely flawed, or fictional stories consumed off pages in the middle of the night. Regardless, when Sage pictured a relationship for them, it would have never been what was unfolding in front of them. The concept of soft touches and butterflies was foreign, but damn did it feel comfortable and good as it happened to her. Everything that was happening between herself and Owen was something she never would have pictured for herself, but as it happened, she couldn’t picture it any other way. They trusted the will of the universe; so if this, these big feelings, and these rapidly evolving emotions were what the universe had in store for them, they were going to ride that.
Now she craved the familiarity of a real relationship – the stability that was supposed to come along with that. Sage wanted to get the chance to actually learn what being in a relationship meant, especially one where both parties seemed fully locked in on the other. Sage wanted to learn, firsthand, with Owen what a relationship really was – no matter what all that meant. While it might still be early to tell, she knew she signed on for the good and the bad already, even if she had an inkling that there wouldn’t be much bad to come along between the two. She wanted it all, wanted to experience the full scope of humanity that was between her and Owen, to see all of him, to learn what makes him happy, but also to learn what makes him tick. Wanting to be inside someone’s world was a foreign feeling, but it was welcome. Being the cause of any sound from him was quickly becoming one of their favorite activities, thankful she was able to get an extra form of communication from him. Learning what their own actions can do to cause his reactions, learning the difference between his sounds -- that's exactly what Sage was excited about. They couldn't do much to contain their excitement over the fact that it was already starting to happen between them.
“All the dances are yours; I’ll go ahead and make that promise.” As he complimented their choice of phrase, they grinned. It had been their intention to say something else, but as they looked over his face, the words got lost in infatuation and utter adoration. Not minding the newfound moment of admiration, Sage let their eyes wander over his face. They were completely thankful that somehow they had maneuvered through life in such a way that they got Owen’s attention. Being under his gaze was a delicious treat that they would happily indulge in as much as they possibly could. With their bottom lip caught between their teeth, Sage giggled quietly and repeated, “More important than eating.” With a moment so sweet, so simple – Owen absolutely knew how to make it everything Sage could want and even more. Pressed up against him, heartbeat steady and sure, but stomach fully fluttering – they let their grin settle on their face and sighed happily.
As he moved, they caught the twirling motion, a loud laugh pulling from their chest. They, in full honesty, hadn’t been spun while dancing since they were little – so the action pulled a hint of nostalgia from them. Letting him spin them around, they couldn’t hide their excitement, pleased to hear his joining in a chorus of laughter. Breath hitching ever so slightly at the kiss, Sage moved her arms to wrap around his shoulders. As he pulled back and signed, Sage rolled her eyes, leaned up on her tip-toes, and kissed his cheek a few times. After a few more random kisses, they pulled back, face feigning annoyance. “You can’t just spin me around like that, kiss me, and then push to go back to cooking. So unfair.” They would have rolled their eyes, but they fully were cut off by his hand on their face. Enjoying the touch, they laughed and shook their head a little, “No, you’re so right. I am beyond ready for some cuddles, so this dinner needs to be done as quickly as we can get it to be.”
Tilting their head just slightly, they kissed his wrist, lips lingering on his skin for a few moments. Finally, they looked back up to him and started signing, “You need to stop being the perfect distraction, okay?” Their hand moved to lay over his and interlock their fingers. Pulling his hand up for another kiss to his palm, Sage sighed, and finally pulled their hands down. Letting her attention fall to their hands, though, she watched them for a moment, then slowly pulled her hand back to sign. “Okay, okay – cooking. We really need to get this dinner going." With a small huff, mostly at herself for being the one to fully make the move back into cooking, she moved to put the cast iron back on the burner. “Are you any good at baking and following directions? I might need you to start the cornbread while I get the pork started.” Raising her brows she moved to bump his hip with hers.
For as long as he could remember, Owen had built up walls. Too afraid to let people really in, to let them get close to him. It was something that had happened in the foster homes that had stayed with him- keeping people at an arms length, never letting them close enough to really see him. Up until now the only people that had broken down those walls were his fathers and his adoptive sister. Partially out of fear that he would lose those close to him like he had his parents all these years ago. And the other part of it being afraid of letting people see him been vulnerable- that maybe they would see some sort of weakness in that, would think less of him, added in with his deafness- So he had slammed those walls up, tried to keep people out as much as he could, letting those silyl fears win. But now Sage had knocked those walls down too and Owen had let them in without a second though. More than happy to let her all the way, to let her fully see him, not just the Owen he kept at the surface for most people to see. So when their hand cupped his face, Owen didn't think twice about leaning into the touch. About soaking up every damn second of this that he could.
"Good thing I won't be able to tell if you fuck up since I can't hear the music." He huffed a laugh, though his face remained soft and gentle as he looked down at Sage, another tint blossoming across his cheeks as their hand found his bicep, finger tapping against him as the two of them continued to move around the kitchen. Their bodies seemed to mold as one, to fit perfectly together like puzzle pieces, and Owen absolutely relished in that fact. Like they had been carved for one another, like they were a perfect match. With Sage he never second guessed anything, something he had done in all his previous relationships. It felt like even after only a few days if dating, the two of them were already in sync. And he felt nothing but pure happiness, every second with Sage his heart was soaring, beating fast in his chest in the most pleasant of ways. With Sage, it felt like he had found what he had been missing without even realizing it.
His lips slightly parting as Sage's hand made its way down to his wrist, letting her take it without question, the softest expression crossing his entire features as she pressed his palm to their lips, kissing at it. A sound escaping from him as he kept his eye son them the entire time. Pretty sure that he could melt into a puddle right there in the middle of the kitchen as she kissed at his hand and knuckles. Trying to remember the last time someone had been this gentle with him, had kissed him like this, had made him feel anything remotely close to how he was currently feeling. Every touch from them was filled with so much emotion, so much behind each gentle kiss against his skin. And when Owen didn't think it was even possible, he found himself falling for Sage more and more. Their words so gentle, a fond smile gracing his lips as he kept his eyes on their hands. "I'm going to want to dance with you all the time." Owen admitted as he moved his free hand up to sign. "I like that a lot- looking at it as little pauses before the next time." He added a few seconds later, his head lightly tilted to the side, eyes still locked in on Sage.
All he wanted to do was wrap his arms back around Sage, to pull them in close again, and never let go. But he kept his eyes on their hands, smiling as he watched them move, already shaking his head some. "Dancing and being close with you is more important than eating right now." Though he knew at some point they would have to break apart and finish making dinner together. But he knew there would be time after that though, when they could curl up on the couch, and not let the other go for rest of the night. So without a second though, Owen let his arms slid back around their waist, pulling Sage in close once more. A very content sound escaping his lips once more. His cheek resting against the top of their head, one of his hands moving to run up and down Sage's back ever so lightly. Trying to memorize everything about this night, not wanting to forget a second of it. Wanting every memory he could make with Sage. Feeling more full, more happy than he had done so in such a long time. The tapping of their fingers against his shirt and stomach making him grin even more.
After a bit of swaying back and forth with Sage, Owen grinned, pulling back some as he moved one of his hands, making a twirling motion before he took Sage's hand, spinning them under his arm with a loud laugh. His blue eyes bright as can be as he kept them on her, pulling Sage back in for a deep kiss. A rumble of his laughter against their lips before he pulled back once more so he could see her face. "We really should finish cooking, what you said you're making seems so good and I'd hate for it to go to waste." Though he scrunched his nose some at the idea, of separating his body from theirs. "That and I keep telling myself the sooner we get to cooking, the sooner I'll get to curl up on that couch and hold you close all night once we're done." Owen added a few seconds later, once more his cheeks heating up some as he looked down at them, bringing a hand up to cup one of her cheeks, his thumb lightly brushing over her skin.

One Villainous Scene - Vengeance Fulfilled, Vengeance Denied
youtube
This villainous scene is somewhat bittersweet in that on the one hand it’s one of the most superbly executed sequences in modern animation, while on the other hand there was nowhere left for the show it was in, Star vs. The Forces of Evil, to go but down afterward.
And it’s the climactic scene of the episode titled, appropriately enough, “Toffee”.
Within the Realm of Magic, Toffee reveals the horrifying gooey form he’s been in for the entirety of the story arc that is now concluding. With Star as his hostage, he possesses Ludo’s body once again and offers up his ultimatum to Moon: his detached finger for her daughter’s life. Well, Moon upholds her end of the bargain, leading to Toffee’s physical resurrection...and, chagrined that Star had cost him the power of corrupted magic, Toffee promptly goes back on his end of the bargain by crushing the wand half grafted to his hand, leaving Star to drown in the Realm of Magic. “She’s gone.” And then he just...walks away.
Toffee’s sheer coldness is the scariest part of this scene. Ever since Moon took away his finger and left him with a permanent reminder that he isn’t invincible so long as the leaders of Mewni had magic on their side, Toffee had been plotting revenge: personal revenge on Moon by taking everything away from her while at the same time recovering what she took from him, and revenge on Mewni on behalf of all monsters by removing magic from the equation and leaving the Mewmans powerless. And now that he has achieved that revenge, there’s no expression of joy, no gloating in triumph...he just fulfills his goal and then calls it a day, like this means nothing to him and is just business. His simple, heartless reactions to the sobbing Moon, Marco and Ludo only makes it worse. Toffee has become so warped and so psychotic that he can’t even process normal emotions at the hour of his victory, a victory he’d spent years upon years working toward because he was that psychologically slighted by what Moon did to him. Even for a literal monster, that is inhuman behavior that’s just chilling to behold.
Oh, but don’t worry - his emotions switch back on when Star comes back to life in her fully evolved butterfly form, new wand in hand and blasting a wave of purified magic right at him. Toffee’s shock, rage and crazed disbelief is palpable as he drags his way over to Star and the others, practically a living corpse now, ranting about how they can’t win because he’s too good a planner and is the only one who somehow knows for certain that magic is fated to die which means that he and his plans have to succeed. Except no, because Ludo pushes a stone pillar down on him, killing him. However Toffee gained the knowledge that he did, he misinterpreted what it meant, and the confidence he gained as a result led to his demise.
Toffee was a core component in making the first half of Star vs. The Forces of Evil as good as it was, and he reached a perfect conclusion here. While the second half of the show suffered for many reasons, one of them being that Toffee’s master plan from this first half didn’t end up connecting to much of it in a big enough way, nothing can mar Toffee’s own time on the show or his status as one of the greatest and scariest villains to come out of an animated series.

My Thoughts On Princess Twilight & Her Friends Making The Unity Crystals (But Ending Up Bucking Up Equestria)
even if the story behind the Unity Crystals is interesting, but that doesn’t mean what Princess Twilight and her friends did, was the right choice.
same thing with Star Butterfly placing the whole blame on magic instead of herself, her Mom and the rest of the Queens that came before them, that misused those gifts.
destroying magic and the realm it came from, does not erase the truth that she and her family had misused it, and that being mostly from Solaria Butterfly’s side of the family, because it is possible that Star is a descendant of Jushtin Butterfly through Fesitiva Butterfly.
even if we can hope the good guys win, but is the point of them wining if they end up crossing a line or ignoring the emotional pain of tragic villains...?
I think that Sunny, Hitch, Izzy, Pipp and Zipp might do way better than their predecessors that are Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity and Rainbow Dash that made up the Friendship Council.
plus I think it is possible that Midnight Sparkle from Equestria Girls Movie that had to do with the Friendship Games, might of been foreshadowing Equestria’s future, that Princess Twilight would take all the Magic away.
The Unity Crystals making Sunny a type of Alicorn, might be because the Crystals had evolved over time and saw her as worthy to become a New Alicorn Princess.
if Twilight was mad a Alicorn another way, she could of had Ethereal Wings instead.
for a Pegasus like Fluttershy, if she became a Alicorn Princess, she would get a Ethereal Horn.
I still don’t agree with the whole turning Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy Glow to stone....and it isn’t right how Celestia ran things by throwing creatures that were the natural native creatures of Equestria before ponies came, into a prison for being too dangerous to be around ponies.
she even crossed a line by throwing Cozy Glow in there as well, there is a thing called Juvenile Hall, I mean yes Princess from PPG and even Gideon from Gravity Falls ended up thrown in Adult Prison too.
plus it was lucky that Gideon formed some kind of Family bond with the prisoners in that prison in Gravity Falls.
I guess at first you don’t really think about it, but then you start to notice that it doesn’t seem morally right, even if it would make more sense to put Cozy, Gideon and Princess in some kind of Junior Juvenile Hall.
but yeah even if Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy Glow were put in stone, it’s nice to know the stone isn’t lasting long and it appears to be breaking, those three should just go to EQG, at least it would be better for them.
I still like MLPFIM, I just can’t agree with some stuff that happens in it, as it is true that Twilight and her friends aren’t flawless, no one truly is.
but she did cross a line when during her reign, she technically stole all of the magic and placed it in the Unity Crystals or however it is, I don’t know...
I only know a little about it, and know that she and her friends made the Unity Crystals, and it end up causing a mess and disharmony.
even if that was not the purpose of the Unity Crystals, but by making it so that the Ponies Magic and Other Magics are connected to them, and if anypony isn’t vibing it causes the Magic to Glitch and cause the Magic not to work right.
this in turn, is a type of hostage and force ponies to get along, that isn’t how the magic of love and friendship works.
even if half of the ponies end up like phobic jerks, and it ended up causing it to keep up for generations until Sunny Starscout and her friends current timeline.
but you don’t just fix that kind of thing, by making it so no one can use their magic unless they “Get Along”....
but some good did come out of it, because Earth Ponies can use Earth Magic with their hooves and make flowers appear like magic and even help trees.
also maybe if Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy did escape their prison, they could of went to the EQG World, and since time works differently there, it is possible not much time has past there when the Fall Of Equestria happen.
so if Cozy decided to return there, she could be surprised by how many years and centuries has past and if she ends up truly befriending Sunny and the others and hears about what happen.
it wouldn’t be surprising if Cozy calls it karma for Twilight Sparkle and her friends...
I would have to agree, I believe what happen was karma.
if Sunset and her friends came through to that new age of Equestria,
things for them might be slightly different.
like Rainbow not having Pegasus Wings anymore, at least not all the time...
but her being a Earth Pony instead and her Pegasus Wings only appearing in Ethereal form...
Pinkie Pie becoming a Pegasus, and Fluttershy becoming a Unicorn.
and Sci-Twi becoming a Earth Pony, and she only gets her horn that can do magic, when it appears in ethereal form.
and if Sunset was worthy to become a Alicorn Princess as well, her becoming one could be slightly like Sunny.
but since Sunset wasn’t born a Earth Pony, she would just get the Ethereal Wings.
it be cool if that became canon, the Mane 7 Meets the Mane 5.
and EQG-Fluttershy becoming a Unicorn and EQG-Rainbow Dash becoming a Earth Pony, and can only get her Ethereal Wings to appear sometimes.
it’s possible that only a Year has past in EQG World, while in The World where Equestria is where Princess Twilight Sparkle took over for Celestia and Luna, many moons has past and most of the counterparts of the humans of EQG World, have long moved on to the afterlife.
and it might be possible that Hitch could either be Fluttershy’s descendant or reincarnation, the signs are there, he loves music, animals love him (and at some point he does end up being able to talk to them) and well it is just a possibility that he is the reincarnation of the Pony Fluttershy.
plus if EQG-Fluttershy still can talk to animals and became a Unicorn, she and Hitch might get along and they can talk about their thoughts and feelings about being able to understand critters.
anyway I know that not everyone will agree about my view about it, but I don’t think Princess Twilight Sparkle did the right thing when she and her friends made the Unity Crystals.
and I can only guess that the Unity Crystals will still work the same way, but also allow magic to be like how it was before but also keep the new magic that was born, like the Earth Pony Magic staying.
it could be possible that without the magic, Sunset couldn’t go back to Equestria and has been stuck in the Human World for a Whole Year, but even if a Year has only past there, many Moons have past in Equestria.
and it’s possible that since the two worlds lost some form of connection even when the portals aren’t active in the mirror.
when Sunset first went to the human world, it’s possible she was maybe 13 or 14 years old when she went there, and if Twilight was maybe a little filly at the time and maybe let’s say 8 or 10 years old, but when she went to get her crown that Sunset took to the human world, and they end up being born the same age during that time.
that means that time in Equestria works differently, so when The Dazzlings were banished to the human world, not much time has past while they were in the human world, but a lot of time has past in Equestria.
it would be like if Spike The Dog, ended up staying in Equestria and ended up growing up as Full Grown Dragon, but when he returns to the Human World, not much time would pass, plus he would either be a really old dog when he got back or he would go back to being a puppy.
in theory, it is possible that Princess Twilight didn’t tell Sunset what was happening or that she and her friends were going to make the Unity Crystals.
also I’m not sure if I’m right about the theory about Zipp being a Nonbinary-Mare, she doesn’t like being called by her full name, and well I’m saying it is just a possibility, plus a person not wanting to be called by their full name wouldn’t have to do with their gender identity.
but I still think it is possible that Zipp might be Nonbinary but doesn’t know it yet.
and if Zipp is Nonbinary, she might be the type that could go by both She/Her & They/Them.
even if it turns out that not everyone is a fan of the MLP New Generation that makes up Sunny and her friends, but I think they can do better than what Princess Twilight and her friends have done.
I still like Princess Twilight and her friends, I just can’t agree with all the actions that they have done, like the misuse of magic.
and causing emotional trauma to Chrysalis, who showed signs of a change of heart when she started to feel good about helping Cozy and Tirek, and the friendship they were forming was a good sign.
but because of the bad experience from the “Toxic” side of Magic of Friendship, it had left a scar on Chrysalis and it made her view it as a sickness and something that is bad and needs to be rejected.
it’s possible that while what she did by replacing Twilight and her friends, as well as the Other Rulers of Equestria with Changelings, might of been really bad.
but she might of only did it out of desperation, because her Hive was slowly dying, and she might be selfish and want all the love for herself....
but her doing that whole replacing Twilight and her friends with Changelings, might of been a twisted form of Kindness.
even if she wasn’t the best ruler for the changelings, her breaking into the Wedding and even what she did later on before she was kind of kicked out of the hive....but she kind of ran away....
she was perhaps desperate and she would do anything to feed herself and her subjects even if it meant becoming the bad guy.
it’s also possible she wasn’t originally a Changeling and was once a pony, but she was resurrected as a type of Unicorn-Changeling Hybrid.
for all we know, she could be another version of Fluttershy that came from Alternate Version of EQG, and that Fluttershy ended up lost forever when she ended up going to Equestria, and she ended up being resurrected and transformed into Chrysalis.
think about it, what does a Chrysalis become when it opens...?
a Butterfly, well either that or another type of insect.
we as fans can still like a show, but it doesn’t mean we can agree with all the actions of the Good Guys, and know while it’s okay that they aren’t perfect and it’s okay for them to make mistakes, but at times those mistakes can cross lines that we might not always be okay with.
another theory I have is that Sprout and Misty might make up the New Mane 7 in Sunny’s group.
I’m not sure if Misty is really the Unicorn’s name, who was with that Evil Alicorn.
but Misty could possibly be seen as the True Successor to Sunset Shimmer, maybe...?
hopefully if Discord does appear in a future episode in the new series, he will understand that magic wasn’t the problem, and it was those who misused it.
Magic can be used for either good or bad, but even if some who try to use it for good, might end up misusing it for the wrong reasons and causing misfortune and bad blood to become worse over time between the different ponies.
Earth Pony, Unicorn and Pegasus aren’t the only Pony Races.
there are Bat-Ponies, Crystal Ponies, what the Dazzlings are and their Dragon Looking Siren forms might just be how they look when they absorb too much negative magic from others, which would have them go from their normal Pony forms with fairy looking wings that might look a little like changeling wings, to transforming into Dragon Looking Sirens.
the “Find The Magic” song could hint that the Dazzlings can feed on positive feelings and they wont become corrupted by the positive feelings and magic.
Magic can have different parts of itself, and sometimes you need to be really careful how you use it, otherwise your misuse of it will corrupt you.
it’s not Magic’s fault that Equestria became the way it did, it was the misuse of it’s magic that caused part of the reason why the Old Equestria Fell from grace.
not everyone has to agree with my thoughts on it or the theories in this.
but Magic should not be made the scapegoat for Princess Twilight Sparkle, her friends or even Star Butterfly and her family’s mistakes when they have misused the power and gifts from the magic.
I can’t wait for the new episode of MLP Make Your Mark, well I can, and I know it will be worth the wait.
and I think while the Unity Crystals can still be seen as good, but at the same time they were made for the wrong reasons in the past, and that is a misuse of magic, even if Twilight and her friends were trying to help, it still only caused more harm than good.
and those actions, were possibly in theory, being foreshadowed by Midnight Sparkle, but not everyone has to agree about that theory, and it’s okay that I’m the only one or one of the few who believe that might be possibly true.
anyway thanks for listening so far, I still don’t agree with some actions that some good guys make in a series that can cross a line.
and Steven Universe Future and Amphibia were one of the shows that I am happy with that didn’t cross a certain line just to win the day.
I mean I know there are some villains that can’t be redeemed, but for those who are deeply emotionally hurt from really bad trauma like Bradford Buzzard from the Ducktales Reboot, I think it could of been possible for him to be redeemed.
and it didn’t help that Scrooge couldn’t see that and was too caught up in his Adventure High to try to see from Bradford’s point of view.
and I think that if Louie and Donald didn’t have the positive stuff in there life, like a good relationship with their family and the things that make them happy.
they would of end up like Bradford, and sadly it would possibly be both Scrooge and Della’s fault it would happen.
I still view Bradford’s Grandmother being the True Villain, because it is her fault that Bradford became the way he is, and even if he was the worse Scout Ever, it was probably due to his Grandmother.
also maybe I can talk more about the theory that Flurry Heart might not really be Princess Cadance and Shinning Armor’s daughter and she was possibly originally a Unicorn who switch places with their Pegasus Daughter who was named Cozy Glow, and she used the same flower that Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo used to make themselves older.
and the one we know as Flurry used some of the flower’s magic, to make Cozy into a slightly older Filly or used the magic to send her a few moons to the past...
then used the magic of the flower to erase the memories of those in the Crystal Empire who known about Princess Cozy Glow, and then used the flower to turn herself into a Baby, but she could of used the flower to turn her into a Alicorn first before using it to turn her into a baby, and then sealing away her true memories.
anyway once again I can try to talk about that theory, later....
even if it is a weird and not very possible being true or canon.
but it would make sense that Cozy Glow might be a Princess, because Chrysalis and Tirek are Royalty, and it could turn out to be true, that Cozy Glow is a Pegasus Princess.
once again that is just a theory, and not all theories have to turn out to be canon, and only some percent do turn out to be canon.
like Rainbow x Applejack’s ship becoming canon,
and them obviously being married.
I’m talking about the Pony ones, not the Human ones from EQG...
and again it’s okay not everyone agrees about the theories I said on this post, and well I still don’t agree with the misuse of magic, but hopefully things will get better in the new MLP series and they could end up viewing what Princess Twilight and her friends did, was not 100% a good thing, and could still look up to them but also seeing that they aren’t perfect and they can make mistakes.
see ya later and stay safe everyone.

In the past, we’ve discussed which doctors we would want the Penultimate Crew to meet. Today, I’d like to inquire about past companions. Similar to how stories such as School Reunion allowed us to get a glimpse of a previous companion’s life after they left the TARDIS, if we were to borrow a similar format, which old companion of the Doctor would you have the current team encounter, how do you think they’d react to one another, and for what reason(s)? I’m aware in your pilot most of the teachers in the Doctor’s School took on the guises of her old friends, but surely they didn’t comprise all of her companions? (That’d be a lot of teachers if they did lol) On that note, would this be a companion we’ve never seen before, like the multi-doctor question, emphasizing how distant in the future this series would be?
Interesting one ! Yeah, of course the holographic teachers were only based on the ones that would work best in this setting, such as Ian and Barbara.
I already mentioned that I like the idea of Clara keeping an eye on the Doctor and playing a part in her going back to her travels. I think it'd be nice for the Doctor's companions to stumble upon her TARDIS-dinner on accident and be surprised to see one of their former "teacher" out there in real life.
Mel is another person I'd love to see cross path with the Doctor at one point, especially when she's still onboard the Iceworld. I'd love to try to imagine what fun things she'd done and built inside her little traveling world and what passengers she might've gotten aboard. Maybe she could give the companions a lift to find the Doctor after they became stranded for some reason ?
I'm also a big fan of Bill and I'd love to see her new "Pilot" form meet up with the TARDIS crew to be an example of both the worse and the best of what could happen to people who travel with the Doctor (killed and turned into a Cyberman but also able to transcend Humanity and find love in an impossible way).
Susan is another interesting choice for me, if a bit classic. If the Doctor is indeed close to the end of her life, I think them meeting back could be a nice way to close a chapter of the Doctor's life and come full circle with her granddaughter (maybe in another incarnation ?).
I, of course, would love to see a brand new companion turn up but I do not have any specific idea about them yet. Maybe someone a bit more rensetful of their time with the Doctor ? Or someone for a more distant world/time than what we're used to onscreen. Maybe a former hidden Time Tot who escaped the Time War thanks to a Chameleon Arch and was sent to Earth for the Doctor to eventually find and educate ? That was an idea I had a while ago for another AU but it could work here.
Due to the peculiar situation of the Eighth Doctor with Big Finish and the Time War, I think there are a couple of paradox-like companions that could provide interesting stuff for the current TARDIS team to talk about, such as Sheena/Emma/Louise from "The Starship of Theseus" or Josie from "The Pictures of Josephine Day" or Gabby and her whole Vortex Butterfly thing (I'm not a specialist on any of those though).
To be honest, I'd probably love to do something with every single former companions, they all are witnesses of something specific and could all bring their own experience to the companions while guiding the Doctor towards the right path by reminding her of what they've been through together and by showing her how their lives evolved thanks to her and since her !

This reminds me of the Ship of Theseus paradox…if all the parts are different, does the original remain? If someone loses their physical form and the memories that made them who they are, are they still themselves?
(I’m tagging the VTSOM fandom in this post now just because that’s a reference and it reminds me of a VTSOM fic I wrote)
Anyway, I’d argue in Tippi’s case that she is still the same person because she regains both aspects of herself in the end. Maybe she’s changed a little from her experiences, but she’s still her, just like Count Bleck is still Blumiere deep down, even when he tries to suppress that version of himself.
Come to think of it, Super Paper Mario seems to be as much about love as it is about change. Blumiere becomes the worst version of himself, though he’s redeemed in the end. Timpani literally undergoes a metamorphosis and is changed into a butterfly, though she’s also returned to her original state in the end.
Everything in SPM seems very dynamic, many of the villains don’t stay villains and you get a sense that the world(s) are just constantly evolving, as they have been for 3000+ years. Maybe that’s part of what makes the game’s story and world-building work so well!
Could Tippi be considered the same person as her past self when she has a different body and name with no memories of who she was?
I came up with this question when I was imagining what Sick from Kaiten Mutenmaru would say to torment Count Bleck if he had enough knowledge. Someone liked the idea so I decided to post it.

Join us for a virtual tour of Judy Chicago’s The Dinner Party by Curator Carmen Hermo. An icon of twentieth-century art, a watershed moment in feminist art and thinking, and one of the most popular artworks in our collection, The Dinner Party celebrates the achievements of 1,038 women in Western culture, and sits at the heart of the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art. It’s also a perpetually popular destination for intergenerational family visits. We wish all mothers and caretakers a Happy Mothers Day!
Judy Chicago’s monumental The Dinner Party was created between 1974–79. The artwork takes the form of a meticulously executed banquet table set for 39 individual women; each woman is honored with a hand-painted and formed ceramic plate, and an elaborate needlework runner. On the hand-cast Heritage Floor, the names of 999 other women stream out in relation to those at the table, visually representing women’s vast contributions in nearly every aspect of history.
Before entering the installation, you are greeted—and guided— by six woven tapestries, decorated with abstract imagery that evoke motifs on The Dinner Party. They convey Chicago’s vision for an equitable world, where women’s histories and perspectives are valued.
“And She Gathered All before Her,
And She made for them A Sign to See,
And Lo They saw a Vision…”
The Entry Banners are the first thing you see, but were the final objects made for The Dinner Party, woven at the San Francisco Tapestry Workshop in a feminist adaptation of Renaissance techniques.

Entering The Dinner Party’s purpose-built gallery (designed to protect fragile textiles on long-term view), the striking, iridescent ceramics of the plates and Heritage Floor catch the eye— it’s immediately conveyed that this massive artwork is meant to elevate and honor women’s histories.

Judy Chicago recalls that her education, from childhood to grad school in the 1960s, both purposefully and passively conveyed to her that women did not contribute to civilization. Part of the project of The Dinner Party was an immense research effort, to provide accurate information and context about women in history. In this image, Chicago and other workers research some 3,000 women, informing the final selection of 1,038 in the artwork.
Chicago wanted to re-write the history that she was taught: The Dinner Party subverts the dominant narrative of Western civilization by re-telling it through women’s achievements.

Each woman’s unique place setting shares these components:
A hand-painted ceramic plate, featuring Chicago’s vulvar “central core imagery”
An embroidered runner, with historically accurate needleworking techniques from that woman’s era
And a golden ceramic chalice, lustrous cutlery, and napkin as accents.
Here, “historically accurate needlework” meant that The Dinner Party studio workers actually skinned a deer themselves, in a nod to prehistoric living!
Each wing features 13 women. The 8th place setting is dedicated to Hatshepsut, who was a Pharaoh of Egypt some 3500 years ago, and known as one of Ancient Egypt's most successful leaders, establishing vast trade networks and commissioning hundreds of buildings and monuments during her prosperous, peaceful reign.

Judy Chicago valued accuracy as well as visual symbolic meaning. Brooklyn Museum curators and Egyptologists Ed Bleiberg ad Yekaterina Barbash translate the embroidered hieroglyphics for us:
That first row reads “Effective One, Living One, Favored One of the City (Thebes).”
On the second wing, a place is set for the writer, philosopher, and mystic nun Hildegarde of Bingen, a 12th century polymath renowned to this day for her musical and lyrical chant compositions.
Judy Chicago drew on medieval art’s clarity of form, which educated illiterate believers about the Bible. The Dinner Party helps inform viewers who may not know women’s historical contributions.
Every element of The Dinner Party conveys a distinct detail about the woman represented, or a symbolic reference to all women’s oppression and erasure.
If you were standing in front of Hildegarde’s place setting, you wouldn’t be able to see this amazing embroidery on the back of the runner depicting her visionary drawing. Instead, you can only see it by moving around the table, and reading “through” and “across” history, alluding to how we all must work to question and expand our collective stories.
Personally, my favorite moment is the stunning runner for astronomer Caroline Herschel. Judy Chicago’s design, executed with lyrical skill in crewel embroidery by ecclesiastical embroiderer Marjorie Biggs, gives a spinning sense of Herschel’s telescopic view of our universe.
Curatorial assistant, Jenee Daria describes this place setting:
“Mary Wollstonecraft authored ‘A Vindication of the Rights of Woman,’ 1792, considered the earliest and most important treatise advocating for equality and education for women. The butterfly and vulvar motif on Wollstonecraft's china-painted plate, and its multidimensionality, represent Wollstonecraft's will and intelligence which metaphorically undulate by the strength of such vibrant hues and the power of her testimony.”
“The embroidered runner incorporates meticulous needlework, petitpoint, embroidery, crochet, and stumpwork to create a visual narrative of Wollstonecraft's life and an embodiment of the limitations of her environment.” - Jenee Daria
Here, Wollstonecraft stands outside a schoolhouse where children are taught “The education of girls is a right not a privilege!” Her youngest, Mary Shelley, would go on to write the literary classic “Frankenstein.”
The 39th and final woman at The Dinner Party is artist Georgia O’Keeffe. The dramatic dimensionality of the plate symbolizes her artistic liberation, as well as her great success in the early 20th century amidst a hostile and male-dominated art world. Ending The Dinner Party with an artist with such a pivotal influence on feminist artists of her day, Judy Chicago emphasizes the importance of knowing one’s lineage.
Judy Chicago worked on The Dinner Party alone at first, and as the concept evolved into its truly epic scale, more than 400 collaborators worked to complete it, an undertaking that took five years. This detail is from one of three “Acknowledgement Panels” that traveled with The Dinner Party and are preserved at the Brooklyn Museum and available on our website.
Despite this, the scheduled museum tour was cancelled after a wave of dismissive reviews from art critics: some saw the work as “kitsch,” and even “pornographic” due to its vulvar motifs. This replicated the rejection women have faced across history, while proving how radical Chicago’s reclamation of vulvar forms really was— even for the presumably avant-garde art world.

Here we see people lining up at Brooklyn Museum—we hosted The Dinner Party in 1980-81 thanks to local activism and fundraising efforts. It was so popular, it marked the first time we rolled out timed tickets!

In 2002, the Elizabeth A. Sackler Foundation gifted The Dinner Party to the Brooklyn Museum, establishing a plan for the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art, which opened to the public in 2007. We are so lucky to have this epic and important work on permanent view at the heart of our feminist galleries, and hope we can soon welcome you back to explore it in person for years to come.
Want to know more? Access the Brooklyn Museum’s rich online resource guide here. Including detailed entries on all 1,038 women featured in the work!
Thank you for joining us on our tour of Judy Chicago’s The Dinner Party. Join us next week for another tour of our galleries!

watch the universe expand | mlqc | lucien/mc | a character study disguised as fic
spoilers for ch.13 and random stuff from following chapters
warning for non-graphic discussion of violence and some themes that may be disturbing/triggering re:human experimentation
The call comes as it always does, not quite like clockwork, in the small hours of the night, when he imagines the stars have reached their zenith in the sky, done with their rise, ready for their coming fall.
"Lucien?"
"What is it? Can't sleep?"
"Can you tell me a story?"
The call comes as it always does, not quite like clockwork, in the small hours of the night, when he imagines the stars have reached their zenith in the sky, done with their rise, ready for their coming fall.
"Lucien?"
He chuckles, colors only she can bring out of him warming his tone.
(He thinks her voice at this time of night is what violet would look like, at least as the poets describe it, a light in the dark, the first soft edge of dawn as night gives way to day.)
"What is it? Can't sleep?"
(He wonders sometimes what color his voice is to her. Black, perhaps. Possibly grey.
He can't imagine his voice having any real color, not even to her.
He'd be surprised at the truth. To her, he's more than color, he's light.)
"Lucien?" she repeats instead of a straight answer. "Can you tell me a story?"
It's a routine they've fallen into ever since the first unfinished one, what he'd told her about the artist and the butterfly that felt too true to be called a bedtime story but he'd been loath to admit to himself that it was more.
Every sleepless night, she asks for another story and manages to fall asleep before the finish.
Every night they spend on opposite sides of a shared wall, he questions a little more of his soul, the feelings that lie within, and finds he doesn't have any answers.
Perhaps he doesn't want to find them.
Eventually her reactions— quiet oohs and ahhs and gasps and the occasional question— always fade into nothing but quiet, even breathing, and it's like he's been let off the hook but he never hangs up, or at least, not for a long moment more.
"Lucien," she'd mumbled once, when the first rays of light had just cleared the horizon. "Is the story over?"
Somewhere between exams and sips of white tea, lulled into a temporary peace by the gentle rhythm to her breaths, he'd nearly forgotten she'd been on the line.
Still, he'd managed to keep the surprise from his reply.
"You just missed the ending."
There'd been a long silence, nearly long enough that he'd thought she'd fallen asleep again, and he could hang up, off the hook, but—
"Was it a happy ending? It's okay if I missed it, just as long as it was happy."
"...It was."
She'd made a noise of satisfied incoherence in response, and he'd taken the opportunity to wish her a good morning, prescribe her a few hours more of sleep, apologize, then hang up.
(He still wonders about that fuzzy morning, that long night.
If she would've questioned him more if she weren't so tired. About the story’s ending. About the length of the call.
If he would've answered. If he would've lied.)
"A story?" He repeats now, settling in the corner of his living room he knows will be closest to her.
Scientifically, he knows it isn't possible, humans simply don't have the body temperature— but he fancies he can feel her warmth, even through the wall.
Perhaps it's a trait of the Queen's gene, previously unexplored. And, well, he wouldn't be opposed to testing that hypothesis, but we digress.
It's clear as day, or, at least, as clear as a monochrome day can ever be: there's something more.
Something that catches on a corner of his heart when she makes a quiet 'un' of assent and clears her throat, the sound, tinny as it is through the phone speaker, vivid enough for him to picture. Her hand pressed to her mouth. Her smile, after. The crescent moons of her eyes.
"Not any story, though. Tell me about Evol again?"
Then, at his silence: "Please?"
(Irrational thoughts rise, unbidden. He'd do anything for that word from her lips. Fight an army. Raze a city.
He'd live by it,
die by it,
and at the end of the day, he still wouldn't deserve it.)
"What do you want to know?" He asks, but to his ears, it sounds like I'd tell you anything.
She hums in thought, a butterfly floating light in the breeze.
"Why do people have the Evol they have? I don't want the science, not really."
Her voice trails off, comes back stronger,
"I want your honest opinion, Lucien. Tell me why?"
and it sounds less like a question, but not quite yet a command.
He chuckles, then obliges.
Time crawls by, soft and slow, a steady seamstress stitching together unexpected, lingering thoughts. At his words, quiet intense musings picking at open seams and pulling at loose threads, the universe between them unspools.
Why do people have particular Evols? To answer that question, we have to first understand why people have any form of differing traits.
Biology says, at first glance, chance. A freak gene mutation on a chromosome of interest: deep within relevant coils of DNA, an A-T pairing shifts to an A-G. Maybe it’s deleted altogether.
('That's not very romantic,' she comments with a barely stifled yawn.
He chuckles, soft, indulgent.
'You're right. I'm sorry. You did ask for a story, after all.'
He continues.)
But. That’s not all, not when evolution’s taken into account. The idea of natural selection has been radically transformed by its representation in popular media to be some strange justification for the hierarchy of society (in a quite underhanded fashion, he thinks, keeping the poor down and beaten as if it were their natural place, allowing the rich to get only richer as if nature and not trust funds had secured their positions on the top of the pyramid of life. Only life isn’t a pyramid. Not a tree, either. Not quite. More like a story, perhaps. But he digresses.) In reality, in biology and in nature, it's much less simple.
The theory of natural selection, at its most bare bones, is, yes, survival of the fittest. Just that ‘fittest’ doesn’t mean strongest, most cruel or most cunning, doesn’t even mean kindest or most caring. It means nothing, really, outside of context.
Very biologically speaking, ‘fittest’ implies the organism reproduces with the most success when compared to others in its given environment. Traits caused by random mutations that help an organism survive in a particular environment long enough for it to have offspring are passed on. And if the environment stays the same, the same traits will be favored and passed on, over and over again across and through generations, coming to define a species and the role that species plays in the world.
Clearly, it doesn’t mean much in that sense for humans anymore. What is our ‘fit’? Perhaps we've broken free of the chain of evolution, and now lounge atop the dogpile, above the fray. Triumphant. Stagnant.
Because even though maybe we've been running as fast as we can, evolution's never more than one step behind. What's a generation of progress in a millennium? No more than the barest breath caught in the endless march of time.
No, evolution still very much has us in its clutches and these days, he wonders what it would take for humanity to realize it, as complacent as we are— there are certain traits favored, personality and looks, but beyond that, beyond the biology, even, isn't there more? Something we want most in the world we live in, our given environment. What a person needs most, forever strives for, what'll allow them to flourish in their environment enough to have a legacy and know some part of them continues to live on.
To meet that need would be to finally surpass evolution, unlock a new humanity, create a new world. The Red Queen, running rampant, running free.
(But first, Evol. The key.)
There are three theories on the nature of Evol. This is the first.
The Theory of Superhumans had been put forward by a scientist over a century ago, through a series of research studies, his articles full of academic terms like intensive accelerated artificial selection, induced heritable genetic variation, changes in gene expression in an adverse environment, followed by the thesis, spelt out in plain words: under the right conditions, a human can develop superhuman abilities.
It had been heralded as a theory for the ages, for the books, sure to stay with and shape the course of humanity's advancement for centuries to come— only, we know the rest.
Each term, carefully clinical, couched the horror of the truth: the scientist, name now scrubbed from history, willfully lost in time, had thought to try to create superhumans— the Evolved, he'd dubbed them— by gathering unsuspecting participants, then putting them through several trials meant to push the limits of humankind, to unlock some secret extra ability, to finish our ode to survival of the fittest, its beginnings scrawled in the letters of our genes.
'The right conditions' had meant mortal peril. The trials had been worse than torture. Almost all the participants had died.
The surviving four (out of over nine hundred, making the success rate of the experiment less than half of a tenth of a percent) had been sworn to secrecy while the scientist (the madman) had been sentenced to an execution, his underlings thrown in jail, his research condemned, labelled a crime against humanity and a failure, his papers all burned.
Only, if the research had been a failure, one might wonder, why the burning of the papers? A message? Don't try this again. It was a failure. Why, then the secrecy?
The rumors, the whispers, the festering that spreads under the bandage of a wound left otherwise untreated—the experiment hadn't been a failure, it was a success.
(And maybe a young woman who survived put her hand up to the sky and let it fade. Maybe a young man who survived let his emotions spill out and take physical form. Maybe one of the survivors had placed a hand on a lost love's chest and willed their heart alive again. But they all kept their silence, true to their vows.)
His voice trails off. Some part of him wonders if he's bored her, the rest concerned with if he's said too much.
Words he's said to her come to mind now, flashing bright and blinding in the darkest hours of the night.
'Trust your instincts.’
‘Don’t you ever think maybe I’m the danger?’
‘Run away while you still can.’
He can't think of a time where they all apply as fittingly as now.
Perhaps, from afar, they'd seemed like fireworks, dark, mysterious, alluring in a world with no other light. But this close, they're a warning, perhaps even a lure— he's tempting her to come closer despite the danger, he the ravenous firefly cloaked in a bright, warm glow.
Surely she can see the truth of him, as close to him as she is. Surely, and yet, she stays, takes another step closer.
"You said there were three theories," she says, still awake, still listening. Still seeking out more. "What's the next?"
"I've told you this one before," he replies, and he means to meet her, to challenge her to press up against the other side of their wall. "Do you remember?'
There are three theories on the nature of Evol. This is the next. (familiar ground)
(Once, humanity built a tower and would've reached the heavens—
Once, Icarus flew too close to the sun—
It fell. He fell.
The world goes on.)
Twenty-five years ago, a British PhD student found a book. (Let's call it The Black Swan.)
He read it cover-to-cover, then read it twice. Three times. A fourth. Again and again, until the book's story, half legend, half truth, took seed in his mind, where it grew anew.
Twenty-four years ago, he tracked down the experiment's remaining survivor, the woman who could bend light and shadow and fade into the palest streaks of day.
('Have you come to kill me?' She asked, wry smile twisting over her age-lined face. She saw his lab coat, his notes, his eager, hungry smile. She knew them all.
He opened his mouth. She stopped him.
'Apologies. I misspoke. You came here to learn.'
He nodded, too-quickly, still eager. Still young.
'For science,' he said, the same tired argument, old words, old justifications and cover-ups reflected in new eyes. She shook her head.
'Don't say that,' she said, weary amusement lighting her distant gaze. 'It's for humanity. For a new world.'
She held out her hand. He took it.
No one ever saw her again.)
Twenty-two years ago, a hypothesis, not quite yet a theory, was formed. In it, the newly minted scientist put forth a potential genetic basis for superpowers in humans: one gene with the power to transcend human ability, once activated and expressed. The gene was Evol, the individuals possessing it Evolvers.
In his notes he attributed the name Evolver to the term Evolved used in a decades-old unpublished paper— a single pile of ashes left of rumors and whispers and burned research papers, given new life, reformed.
(The reality is this: the woman and her body on the verge of vanishing on her deathbed, her wrinkled hands thin, wan, shades of grey, beckoning the watching scientist over.
'Let me tell you a story,' she'd said, her voice carrying and strong. 'Once Icarus flew too close to the sun. He fell. But what don't we remember? Daedalus— he flew.'
'Is this another one of your lessons?' The scientist had asked and he was still every inch as greedy, but he'd lost his eager tone. 'I assume I'm Icarus, aren't I, experimenting on and dissecting Evolvers, flying too close to God, growing too arrogant for the unforgiving sun?'
'No.' she'd said. 'Listen.'
But he didn't.
He heard only half a story. But now, the rest of the tale. The truth.
'Let me tell you about Daedalus. Let me tell you about a man like you who thought he was special. Who thought he had what it took to change the world.'
Icarus fell, but Daedalus flew. Human progress, but at the cost of what? At the cost of who?
Hundreds of thousands of participants of failed experiments and twisted studies greet her when she goes beyond death's door.
'It's never been for science,' she'd have said if he'd cared to listen, words burning one last time, vibrant and alive, on her tongue. 'This is for our humanity. Our dignity. Not in spite of humanity's love but because of it.'
And love is evol backwards, isn't it? Two sides of the same coin.)
Twenty years ago, the scientist published his research. The study had been innovative, the findings thorough: each Evolver had in them a sequence of DNA, a bare few codons that transcended evolution, pairs of A-Ts and C-Gs he dubbed the Evol gene. Its expression varied from person to person, just as one might have brown eyes, and another blue, though he'd noted there were cases of similarity in awakened Evol in family lines, within communities, between lovers and sometimes close friends.
These findings suggest a correlation between Evol expression and environment, he wrote. Shared experiences shape an Evol's final awakened form as much as genetics, if not more.
The only question is, what makes an Evolver, if not just genetics? Who gets the gene? Who awakens it?
Then, messier, more frenzied writing. More bold. What if we could create Evolvers?
The reading between the lines: what if we took apart Evolvers so that we could build one of our own?
Six months later, and he'd been stripped of all his accolades and funding, the remaining Evolvers he'd taken in released when they were found.
Crimes against humanity, they'd called it. He'd laughed, said it was for science. For humanity. For humanity's progress. (despite our humanity. for anything but our love.)
"Lucien," she says, soft but insistent— she's been trying to get his attention for a while now, bringing him back out of his reverie. "You've been silent for a long time now. Are you still there?"
He blinks. Attempts a closed-eye smile, then remembers she can't see him, and covers it with another gentle laugh.
"Just thinking," he replies. "It was a good story. You told it well— better than I would've. I'm impressed."
"I just added on the ending with whatever felt right in the moment!" She protests, making the smallest noise of embarrassment. Then, even softer:
"I liked it when you first told it to me. Just, it didn't sound complete. It didn't have a lesson, really, or any sort of answer."
(Implicit in her words: Your stories never do.)
Silence. Again, she speaks, reaching across their shared void.
"I just wanted to understand it better— the story, I mean." She pauses, and he can feel his heart pound, just a beat faster than normal. At her next words, he can practically feel her blush.
"I want to understand you better."
He laughs again, quiet and gentle. With his heart loud in his ears, it's all he can manage to do.
"I don't know if you should."
Another warning. Another barrier, another wall thrown up. Still, she presses on.
"Tell me the last theory," she says instead of answering. "Tell me the theory that's yours."
(He does.)
There are three theories on Evol. Two official, as official as they could be, and the last is his— a pet theory, really, the kind full of conjecture and personal accounts that’d never make it off the drawing board, much less to the first peer review.
Awakening his Evol had been easy. What came after was what had been hard. They hadn’t told him what they’d done to him, what monstrous power they’d given, what he’d gotten— but maybe it hadn’t ever been theirs to give, it’d only ever been his to have.
A thought experiment:
You think your ability is super speed. You take the hand of someone— say, an old lady, crossing the street— and suddenly that ability is gone. You're shocked. Terrified, even. Maybe all your life you'd thought you were special, and didn't think specialness vanished, it was your trait, your birthright, not a thing as fleeting as an amusement park ride. Later, you pat a friend on the back, and their thoughts come to your mind, loud and clear. You're shocked again. Almost terrified again. But then you realize: your ability was never one thing. It was everything. (It was nothing.)
But what does specialness reliant on the existence of other special people mean in terms of you and your existence? Logically, nothing. Your genes are random. There's nothing like fate written into them, you have this ability by sheer chance. Still. You are everything and nothing. (You’re different from all the others. There’s no one else like you.)
You're a reflection of others, but in the end, what are you? What's a genius, what’s being special or different or extraordinary, if at the end of the day, it’s all just a single breath (a pained eternity) away from normal?
Copycat, echo, mirror. Imposter.
(You paradox, you.)
He tries to embrace the power of his Evol. Push it, examine it, test its limits, its potential.
He learns he can copy multiple Evols at the same time. He collapses the first time he tries invisibility and telepathy together, experimenting with invisibility's time limit, telepathy's reach, ending up in a sweaty, trembling heap on his apartment floor. For a blinding moment, a moment of stupidity (helpless humanity), he wants to share his results— but it's just him in his apartment, him and the sound of his racing pulse.
He strains. He trains. He learns to manage three.
When he feels the pressure in his head build to a point beyond mere discomfort, he releases the one— a forcefield he's grown fond of, the silent glow surrounding him fading to pale unadorned apartment wall. This time, his breaths are even, measured, controlled. He does not turn to share his accomplishment with anyone who might be there. He knows nobody's beside him. He knows he's all alone.
Instead, he stares down at his open palms, then closes them, the second Evol, x-ray vision, vanishing. Then follows the last, a simple heightened perception, and the rest of his senses bleed back into grey.
(There's one power he tries to copy, one simple talent even his genius can never master. A want more desperate than any other—
He searches. He use any excuse to be around strangers, meet new people, see new faces, shake others' hands.
(Somewhere in the sea of introductions and small talk and conversation, a new personality— the beginnings of what would become ‘Professor Lucien’, polished, calm, smooth— emerges.)
He never finds it. Instead, he finds he can copy countless others, craft dreams, weave miracles, do anything and everything— all except for this one mundane ability, taken forcibly from him.
Seeing color.
He doesn't know if he just hasn't yet found the Evol or if he has, unknowingly, and passed it without a second thought, the Evol itself incapable of being replicated, echoed, or worn like a glove.
He isn't sure which one's worse. He isn't sure which one's true.)
They come back to him in this purgatory— his demons, his saviors, those monsters. Black Swan.
They tell him he's special (he's learned long ago the word means worse than nothing) that they're like him, together they'll make a better world.
He accepts their lie. (It feels better, after all, to be somebody's weapon than nobody's anything at all.)
He plays being a killer. Dons the name Ares. Throws coldness up between him and all the others like one of his forcefields, like a wall.
They speak of the potential of human evolution. They speak of a new race of superhuman Evolvers taking charge of and ruling the world. All in impassioned, hateful, dangerous words— they color his world black and he embraces it.
Anything is better than grey, he thinks early on, perhaps foolishly, over yet another still-warm mangled body.
'Normie,' one of the other men on the mission spits, aiming a kick at the body, low and vicious, his voice like a bloody oath. He turns to Ares with a grin. 'We did good. Wanna grab a drink?'
Ares doesn't smile. He thinks, 'What's one more corpse?'
He returns to headquarters alone.
(They don't send him out on team missions, after.)
And now—
her.
His color. His reckoning. His proof.
(In her eyes— her strong righteous savior's gaze— he imagines the artist's jar shattering, the butterfly soaring high, soaring free.)
"Lucien," she says, calling out to him, voice hovering, trembling on the edge of a sob. His heart clenches, and he clutches it, wondering how he should respond.
"Lucien."
He takes a breath, then another.
"I'm sorry— what is it? I'm still here."
Lines like "Are you okay?" or "Talk to me, please." go unspoken. Instead, she says, soft and gentle:
"Have you seen the stars tonight? They're beautiful."
"I haven't."
"Then...come to the balcony with me?"
An almost-eternity passes. But then, he agrees.
(first, a brief tangent.)
There are four men. He's one of them. But what about the other three?
The boy trapped in his past by the memory of the one he couldn't protect, his Evol and him both frozen in time.
The boy who wanted freedom from the rumors, the fighting, most of all, from his dad, who grew wings to escape them and become one with the breeze.
The boy who'd never been loved unconditionally and now surrounded himself with it, a part of him rearing its head to demand it.
(all other stories. for other times, other worlds.)
"You know, sometimes I think the stars must be lonely," she says, and though he doesn't dare look at her, he hears her both in real life and through the phone speaker cradled close to his ear. He feels rather than sees her move closer to his side of the balcony, closing the distance, coming to the edge.
"They're thousands of light years away from each other," she continues. "Maybe they wonder if they're all alone, sometimes, if they're the only light for miles in an empty, endless dark sea."
"It makes me sad, to think about it. We spend our lives looking up at the stars and casting lines, drawing constellations between them, but in reality, they're just as lonely as we are. Maybe even more."
"I'm rambling, aren't I? Sorry— it's been a long day, and it's just this time of night, it always makes me melancholy for some reason. I can't remember why."
She laughs a little, self-deprecating. In the night's stillness, he hears the shuddering in her next breath. It takes hold deep within him, her fisherman's hook, line, and sinker, gone straight to his heart.
"Don't say that," he says, the words freed from that same place deep within him, and what he means is 'You're not alone.'
"MC."
He's at his edge of the balcony before he knows it— for the first time, it's him reaching back across the ocean between them, it's his question, his unspoken plea.
His eyes seek hers in the darkness.
She finds him.
(His color.
Her light.)
There's a knock from the doorway, echoed over the phone. He laughs softly into the speaker, then moves in from the balcony and crosses his room to open the door. It's her.
“Lucien,” she says, and his name on her lips holds all the secrets of the universe, stars and galaxies swirling in the space between each of her breaths.
She holds her hands out to him, she, his lifeline, his compass, the one bright color of his life.
He hesitates for a moment, then takes then, gets pulled by them into her, into the warmest embrace.
(he can hear her heartbeats, echoes of songs of legend of stories, intertwined with his)
"Lucien," she murmurs into his chest. "Tell me a story? Tell me yours."
This time, he hears her as he's meant to, the words were never a command, they were a question. A plea. Another step in his direction, just like the knock on his door.
(he lets her in.
she stays awake for the rest of the story, stays on the line for the rest of the call.
together, they create their own ending.)

Visitations: The Ending Explained
So @gele-gordijnen asked me a really interesting question and I think am finally ready to answer it. She asked can you tell me if Visitations is or isn’t a happy ending?
So here it goes.... (if you want the ending you imagined to stay intact don’t expand)
So in the most long winded way possible yes it is a happy ending but the ending really doesn’t matter in away because it’s what its trying to communicate to the reader about themselves and the way they treat or don’t treat those they love.
It’s very clear that Robbe and Sander never fell out of love but their love became unmanageable. It was way to potent that it hijack all other parts of their lives. Robbe loved Sander so much he was to scared to tell him he wanted to pursue the idea of leaving Belgium. He would rather push aside his own desires then to lose Sander or jeopardize their relationship with a dramatic change in dynamic. The issue here tho is relationships always change and evolve. Trying to ward off change only causes more conflict and Sander was right to doubt his intention in away because Robbe didn’t have faith that they were strong enough to survive change. But at the same time doubt and fear of change is only human. We all make decisions out of fear and doubt at points in our lives and we come back to this same moment again in the car scene where Robbe is trying to decide his future and its so hard for him because at this point fear and doubt have consumed his entire being and he is trying to break this inherit pattern of decision making he has established. But this is how Robbe has operated for so long I mean look at what he did to Lucas in the car. The moment Amsterdam became real to him he lashed out in the most extreme way out of fear and Luc shouldn't have said what he said but wouldn't you feel like you’re deserving of an explanation after being so open and honest? They had clearly had several conversations about Sander and Robbe clearly said there was nothing there which we know was a lie and deep down so did Robbe. Sander to put it plain and simple loves Robbe too much. Robbe is not in the state of mind to have a healthy honest relationship with him. He clearly loves him but he is so weighed down by the past. Those years of back and forth happened because Robbe wasn’t ready to admit to himself that he maybe made a mistake. Sander was absolutely wrong for what he did but people make mistakes. Love is not a black and white situation. Good people sometimes make bad decisions out of anger and resentment. Sander makes the same mistake at the night of the gallery open when Robbe is trying to open up to him. Its clear in that moment wants to ask for forgiveness but Sander is so angry that he punishes him as Robbe has punished Sander so many times. What’s that saying? sometimes you harm the ones you love the most. If you haven't caught on every scene that plays out in present day is taking place in the metaphorical grey space the place before the event horizon where the skyline is the color yellow to signify the grey place may be hazardous to sobbe. They have been there too long they need aid to get out. The grey place also represents reflection all over the fic there is symbolism towards mirroring or self reflection. The butterflies are a clear indication that we are somewhere in the life cycle of rebirth. Sometimes sobbe is the butterfly and other times they are the caterpillar, the egg or in chrysalis.Thats why the story takes place in flashbacks we are somewhere in their life cycle. In the fic death is not a bad thing because caterpillars die and turn into butterflies so if we are dying we are really just being reborn again and sobbe does metaphorically die as the caterpillar a couple of times.
The end is happy because they finally chose each other. They jump the crevasse they run towards the event horizon but we know from science we dont know if a human can survive an event horizon. The likelihood is they cannot it will probably kill them but thats not the point sobbe made it out of the grey place the sky turned pink and the floor underneath them turned monochrome. And what did I say before death is not a bad thing in the fic because it usually indicates rebirth and it isn't a coincidence that sobbe is part of a universe that can exist in different timelines. BTW if you read carefully all the evaks are seen for a split second in some form in the story and Joana sorta of explains the ending. When Robbe asks her how does he find her? She tells him he doesn’t but that she’ll be waiting for him and since we the reader know Robbe is Isak and Joana is Even we know that they do indeed do find one another in the other universe. So yes, Sobbe and everything they mean always survives. Do they literally survive? Maybe...because you know who does survive? Bowie. Plus I don’t think that matters honestly because am not really sure this story was ever really about sobbe in the first place but about how love is a metamorphosis or better yet a journey.
#visitations#its a long read#the ending explained.#what did i tell you at the very beginning it was always about the journey#but also pay attention bowie was always the key if he lived then so did sobbe

My Top Songs [2020]
Hi all!
As 2020 comes to an end (thank whatever higher power there is), I wanted to share a list of my favorite songs! (the following are songs RELEASED this year) (I’ve included a list of songs that I heard this year, but weren’t released in 2020, after it). These are mostly korean/chinese.
Alright, this is in NO particular order, just my favorites. I’ve mostly included one song from a group/solo act and added their other great releases in description. It is mostly music that I listened to, so if your favs are not here, feel free to rec me good music! ENJOY!
(the list ended up becoming quite long, so read under the cut)
Black swan(orchestral version) by BTS
BTS had a great year musically. 2 korean albums, 1 japanese and lots of solo stuff. My most played songs are Dynamite (listen, she did what she had to do), Stay Gold (if gold had a sound, this would be it), Black Swan, Blue and Grey (i live for melancholy), Life Goes On (spring day’s successor), Filter(park jimin is a threat), Friends (my feels!), Louder than bombs (TROYE SIVAN), UGH (murder music), 00:00, Moon (jin solos are beautiful always) and Your Eyes Tell (honestly, show me one bad japanese single, i dare you).
Ghosting by TXT
I got into TXT a lot more this year, as opposed to being a casual listener that I was last year. Many people say they have a no-skip discography and I believe it’s true. My most played songs were Blue Hour (i ADORE this song), We Lost the summer, Wishlist, Can’t you see me (the song that made me a stan), Fairy of Shampoo (ethereal), PUMA (choi yeonjun is a threat), Eternally (an ATTACKK!) and their f2020 cover.
Answer by ATEEZ
Ateez is another group i really got into this year, mesmerized by their performance abilities. My most played : Star 1117 (i’m very soft for this song), To the Beat (a true bop), Inception (holy jongho vocals), One day at a time and Good Lil Boy (does hongjoong ever have a bad rap verse?). Their Black Cat Nero cover also blew me away!! (i’m lowkey obsessed).
God’s menu by Stray Kids
I’ve been keeping an eye on Stray Kids ever since hellevator came out and this is my favourite song by them, so far (yes, i had a heart attack when i first saw Hyunjin). Most Played : Back Door (the beat drop gives me life, the choreo is probably my fav), All in, Easy (do they ever have a bad chorus?), GO LIVE (the beat??!! killer), Another Day (i am a slow jam hoe) and My Universe.
Pacman by eaJ
I didn’t think it was possible to love him more after day6 but Jae’s solo music has proved me wrong. Yes, i love Pillows (with Keshi) to bits but pacman is my first love. Most Played : It just is (Seori and their golden vocals), LA TRAINS (vocals!!!), Pinocchio (the mv is adorable, the beat is so fun), 50 proof (the vibes man, it's the VIBES) and TRUMAN.
Left & Right by Seventeen
Another group with amazing releases this year, I’m slowly getting into Seventeen more these days. Most Played : Fallin’ Flower (so beautiful, the vocals), 24H (the beat change?!!???), 17 (Joshua, DK and Pink Sweats) and HOME;RUN (this is a brand of fun that is entirely their own).
Not by the moon by GOT7
I am no stranger to GOT7, i’ve liked their music for years now but this is one of their more lyrical releases this year and i adore when GOT7 does this type of music. Most Played : Poison (jackson opens it and the vibes are immaculate), Last Piece (the way the vocals flow into the rap) and Thank You, Sorry.
So Beautiful by DPR IAN
This is literally the first song i’ve heard from this artist, please rec me more. I also adore No Blueberries with DPR LIVE and CL.
Eight by IU, Prod. SUGA
IU is an indisputable vocal queen, and her music always comforts me greatly so when i heard she was having a song produced by Yoongi, i promptly lost my shit. It was everything I expected and more and embodies sorrow and pain with great grace. Give you My Heart from the ‘Crash Landing on you OST’ was also a loved song this year.
Cry for me by TWICE
How do i talk about the queens? TWICE is the group i go to when I want fun music with good vibes but this song has such bad b*tch vibes that i am in love. Most played : More & More (a bop), Don’t call me again, I can’t stop me (i love the way it flows), Handle It (the vocals??? How pretty this song is???) and Say Something (seriously, eyes wide open is an amazing album).
Criminal by Teamin
Where do i start with Lee Taemin? I love almost all his solo stuff. He grabbed me by the neck ever since ‘Move’ and hasn't let go. Criminal is SO taemin that i don't think anyone else could have delivered the concept with such grace and grit. Most Played : 2 Kids (the chorus is so good), Clockwork, Idea (i love the vibe) and Pansy (i'm a ballad hoe).
Maria by Hwasa
Listen, i loved Twit when it came out but i love Maria as her sound so much more. Most Played : I’m bad too (feat. DPR LIVE) (i love the beat, the vibe and the flavor), LMM and Orbit from ‘The King: Eternal Monarch OST’ (as soon as her voice comes in, i loved the song).
Breath by DEAN, Rad Museum, Mokyo
I’m not aware of many DEAN releases this year, please feel free to rec me if I missed any.
Dear my friend by Agust D ft. Kim Jong Wan (NELL)
D-2 was everything expected from the second mixtape off Agust D and yet it brought a fresh wave of singing and melodies, once again proving the man’s production genius. This song is so reminiscent in it’s lyrics and still so real, its my favorite off the record.Other songs I loved : People, Deachwita and What do you think? (i DID love the complete mixtape though).
Given - Taken by Enhypen
Yes, I watched I-LAND. Given-Taken was a better debut then I expected at first. 10 months (the chorus and beat) and Flicker off their debut album were also played a lot.
I just want to stay with you by Zion.T
The King: Eternal Monarch was a much awaited drama for a lot of people and it’s OST is one of the best ones this year. Zion.T’s amazing vocals really did an amazing job of expressing the love in the story. Other songs I really liked from this album were Gravity by Kim Jong Wan and the Hydrangea Instrumental by Lee Geon Yeong.
The purge by Jay Park, pH-1, Woodie Gochild, Sik-K, and others.
H1GHER: RED TAPE is my hype album of the year. All artists involved did an amazing job. Seriously, get yourself some bomb ass beats, as a treat. Other loved tracks : Telefono Remix (Woodie Gochild is great at his flavour of delivery), Closed Case and The Arrival.
Soul by Lay (zhang yixing)
Yixing’s album LIT was his best project till date, no arguments. He’s really evolved into such a refined musician, especially with how well he merges traditional chinese instruments into Hip Hop/RnB beats and I adore the vibe of this album. Although the album is great entirely, Soul is my favourite for how softly and prettily it flows. Other loved tracks: Eagle (the BEAT), Fly, Boom (bops on bops on BOPS) and Call My Name.
100 ways by Jackson Wang
It is astounding how well Jackson has formed his own style of music ever since starting off with Papillon. He’s also sort of come into himself as an artist and it has birthed some great music. Other loved tracks : Pretty Please (i love the vibe of the song!) and Should’ve Let Go (ft. JJ Lin).
SUGA’s interlude by Halsey
Idk how else to explain it but Halsey and Yoongi have great music synergy. There’s something about their song/lyric writing that matches very well and needless to say, I adore the song. Blueberry eyes by MAX is also another great Yoongi collab.
In Your Time by Lee Suhyun
It’s Okay to not be Okay had an OST that was dreamy, gritty and very fairytale-esque, much like the drama itself. Among a bunch of great songs, this one is my favourite. Other loved songs: You’re Cold by Heize (always delivers!), Breath by Sam Kim (OST angel), Hallelujah by Kim Feel (chills!), In Silence by Janet Suhh (literally how angelic is her tone??), I’m your Psycho by Janet Suhh (it’s creepy in a dreamy way) and Brother | Her World | Through the dark Tunnel of time | Butterfly - all amazing instrumentals by Nam Hye Seung and Park Sang Hee (seriously, go listen to the album).
By my side by Junny
Another great discovery towards the end of the Year, Junny has vocals for DAYS and admirable delivery. Other loved songs: AURA ft. pH-1, edge (this is so hypnotising in it’s beauty) and I will. Please feel welcome to educate me more about this artist!!
Make a Wish by NCT
NCT always provides bops and NCT U is my favourite sub-unit, for their unique style of music, so when they came out with this song I was ready and they delivered! Most Played : 90’s Love (the old boy band theme was so well done), From Home (i’m a sucker for slow songs), Nectar (yes, i adore WayV’s music), MAD DOG by NCT 127 and Kick It by NCT 127 (this is the flavour of NCT i LOVE).
Zombie by Day6
Day6 has always been in my daily otations and as always, they put out good music after good music. I loved both the original Korean and the English versions of this song (they do rock well, what else is there to say?). Other loved songs : Tick Tock (oh the vocals, the way the beat moves!), Love me or Leave me, Day and Night... actually the whole Album is great, go listen to ‘The Book of us: The Demon’.
Fearless by Ma Di [other chinese songs]
Chinese songs have been a surprisingly pleasant addition to my daily rotation. Fearless from the “Go Ahead” OST takes the top stop because of how well it embodies the struggles of stepping into adulthood, the melody and MaDi’s amazing vocals. Other Chinese songs I loved: Praise for Red Plum Blossoms by Xiao Zhan (the perfect welcoming of spring paired with such expressive vocals), Remaining Years by Xiao Zhan (Joy of Life OST) and his OST for the Oath of Love.
____________________________________________
The following is the list of songs I heard in 2020, but were not released in 2020. Please let me know if you like them, or if you know other similar music! (I know, I know, I’m late to the game) Enjoy!
DEAN - Sometimes I hear Howlin' in my head
