Ren is someone who is stuck in a system. Got a shitty job with a big (but still shitty) payment, got to do something to kill the environment, promised to quit and never did it. He knows that he is doing something wrong, he really knows, but — what can he do? Where can he go with that place in his portfolio? The only place left for him is Hermitcraft, but even then — he needs to live. He needs to do something, or he will drop dead.

False is someone who was a big deal in a system before she understood that it doesn't make any sense. She was a soldier, one of millions, and she had one pray: its gonna be better this way. But it never was. And even after she did thousands of crimes, she still had some strength to stop. To say "I can't do this anymore". She mourns her sister every day of her life, carring her in chest like a second heart.

Martyn is someone who wasn't in a system from the start. He was always there, but he never wanted to do something "legal", lol, it's not fun! His word is his law, and maybe that's why he ends up in a hostage much worse than a usual prison. He didn't need to learn how to shoot, but he learned how to actually move on from killing a friend, from doing a sin to live another day. He thinks he doesn't have a choice. But he never tried to actually stop.

ADHD is wild. I wanted to write a novel with a hypermobile character (like me!), but that meant I wanted to research hypermobility representation in fiction first (for ideas on how to incorporate hypermobility that I might not think of, but also... common tropes, stereotypes, ableism to look out for, and all that jazz), but then it turns out there are like two fictional characters with hEDS in popular media and that's it for all hypermobility rep (as far as I can find), and also I can't seem to find any blog posts/writing guides/whatever discussing hypermobility rep in fiction in general. (Closest I could get were some reviews of Fourth Wing by people with hEDS).

So long story short, if I want a writing guide I have to make one myself. But in order to make a writing guide I first have to be able to properly explain what hypermobility is (lots of myths out there), which means I need sources, which means I need citations... well, I mean, no one else making hypermobility information videos on the internet is citing their sources (other than "personal experience") but that's part of the problem..., but this means I need to pick a citation style, and my social sciences ass is most familiar with APA and MLA (and whatever footnoting style my uni history department, and only my uni history department, uses), but one time in a policy analysis class we used Vancouver style and I liked it better than APA, so I thought, "this is my research project" I can use whatever style I want... (besides Vancouver is one of the defaults for citing medical research).

So, I do as anyone would, and I go to change the citation style in the drop down menu on Zoterobib, but there are multiple options for Vancouver style, and one of them is Vancouver (sorted alphabetically), and now I am really confused, because I thought Vancouver's whole thing was that it was sorted by order of appearance in the text, and I thought Vancouver was a type of NLM style, and that this was the difference between Vancouver and other types.

So, here I am, researching what the heck Vancouver (sorted alphabetically) could possibly mean, and also what distinguishes Vancouver from other NLM styles (because what if everything I know is a lie?). Do I need to know this to cite with basic Vancouver style for my little research project? No. Am I filled with the all-consuming urge to get this sorted out or else? Absolutely. Do I need to drink water? Maybe...
