🗨️ Seokjin’s childhood/school was just, ugh, I really felt heartache for thirteen year old Seokjin 🥹 So very common as a kid, to wish you’re older – and then it’s just not what he expected at all. I really loved it! There were a few times I was laughing so damn hard, times where I was shedding a few tears as well. Just, incredibly good; very well written, the story was captivating and motivating, just yeah, brilliant. (Sorry, I’m suddenly bad with words). I loved the ‘lessons’ he learned, and then having the luxury (I’m using that word because we don’t have that irl) of going back to his childhood (almost like starting over) and damn it was good 👏💯

Yoongi

🗨️ Holy 😱 😱 😱 this is just completely unadulterated sin 🥵🫣 I can not describe how much I love this fic! It has A LOT of angst and at times it’s just sad reading how each character falls apart 😭 it’s amazing! If you’re into stories that will have you question your own morals and who to root for, this is for you 💖

📝 Yoongi fell in love with you. A girl he had never even met before. Knew everything that you were made up of within 96 pages of a worn red journal with a nirvana sticker on front, with coffee and tea-stained pages that also smelled of lilacs and summer.

🗨️ I can already tell that this story will be amazing; it’s so sweet, cute and tender. The storyline/idea is really cute and fluffy, like who wouldn’t love that?? 😭 And as someone who wrote countless journals as a teen, this one just hits differently. It’s so cute and the concept is gold 💜 I really, really look forward to reading the next chapters and what Yoongi will uncover of OC through her journal. And if he can return it to her sometime and they meet! 🥹

📝 Making hating Christmas your entire personality was never the plan. Then again, it seems bad things only ever happen around Christmas - like discovering your fiancé cheating on you, forcing you to move back to your sleepy hometown. But Min Yoongi happens to love Christmas, and if there is one thing your very stubborn childhood crush is going to do, it’s try to reignite your Christmas spirit. Even if he has to force-feed it to you with gingerbread cookies and too-sweet eggnog.

🗨️ Gosh, I remember reading this sometime last year and it was perfection - it still is! ✨ It’s so so so fucking good. If you haven’t read it, please do so 🥹 it’s also one of the best Christmasy fics 💜

🗨️ I think it is both cute and heartwarming, with their foolishness and stubbornness towards each other. 🗨️ I just love me some good enemies to lovers AU 🥵 the relationship between OC and tae is really good, I think the tension between them was well built 👏🏾 I loved how their relationship unfolded and grew through their fake dating 🥹 the way OC realized she had feelings for him, but he had showed her before in his subtle moves, how much more he relaxed in her presence. I loved the interaction between oc and tae’s parents too, the way that they could obviously tell that OC was head over heels 😂 ah just, It was really really good! It was funny, it was comforting, and such a lovely read around Christmas! And the smut was sweet and tender (also hot!) 😍 a really great fic that I’ll add to my Christmas re-reads for years to come ✨ I loved it! Please go read it if you haven’t already 🥹

Nothing this month 😞 — I AM SO SORRY that I haven’t read any with JK this month (though he is featuring in some with the other members). My JK ‘to read’ list is the LONGEST imao 😂 I’ll hopefully do better next month – but you can always check my Jungkook Library 💜

I have spend most of December being on holiday/time off, which gave me a lot of time to write my own stuff, which in the end gave me less time to read 😣 But it’s all good! I loved getting some stories and thoughts out of my head and now there’s space to read and obsess over other’s stories again 😀

You watched in satisfaction as the imprint of your lips stained a faded red colour, two semi-circles adorned by fine lines. The smell of strawberry wafted gently, so subtle you could have missed it. Yet, his voice rang in your ears. “You taste so sweet, baby. You always do.”

You had first met Jungwoo in your first year of university. Surrounded by girls, one of them having their entire torso turned towards him like she was ready to mount at any moment. Giggles floated past you as you walked by, books slipping in your arms from the sweat on your skin. The edges dug uncomfortably into your side as you tried hoisting them from side to side, trying to find that sweet spot that wouldn’t make you want to throw all of them only the floor, give up and go home.

“Hey.” You hadn’t heard it at first, too busy untangling your arms. But it suddenly felt silent, too silent now, the giggles now gone. You looked up, and the first thing you noticed was also the first thing you said.

“We have the same headphones.” Your voice was monotone, your breath heating up your cheeks underneath your mask.

He frowned, and the second thing you noticed was-

“I like whatever you’re wearing on your l-lips.” He stammered towards the end, probably now understanding how strange that sounded. But if he was embarrassed, he didn’t let on. His face erupted in a confident, self-assured smile, one hand effortlessly running through his dusty brown hair. His face was cute, like a puppy, or a fluffy cat. Soft features, smile lines and shallow dimples on one side of his face. “I’m not hitting on you. My sister runs a small business and sells makeup. I’m trying to get girls to buy her stuff. She’s saving up for a car because she hates public transport. I, personally, don’t mind it. Anyway. Um, you want a flyer?” Paper shuffled in his hands as you realised that he was handing out flyers, not what you had originally thought when you saw all those girls around him.

You fought the urge to say aww as you took a flyer tentatively. You didn’t wear makeup other than yes, your lipgloss, the same one you had brought from your home country since you didn’t really have time to shop in Korea in the few days you had been here already. Your eyes started scanning up and down the flyer while your mind pondered, who still uses flyers to advertise nowadays?

You shuffled from foot to foot, aware that he was still standing in front of you for some reason. “Your sister seems really talented.”

“She is. She also, looks a lot like me.” Jungwoo proceeded to shove the remaining flyers under his armpit, other hand flipping out his phone. In your peripheral vision, you watched one girl side eye you, hard, very possibly the one who had wanted to mount him a minute ago. “Oh, that’s okay, um- oh wow!” Your eyes widened. “You guys look so alike!”

“Right?” Strangers standing musing for more than a minute was odd enough, but what he did next was even weirder.

“The flyer I gave you has my number on it, by the way.”

You looked at his face, soft brown eyes full of hope that made your heart twinge slightly with delight. He was so adorable.

“What happened to ‘I’m not hitting on you’?”

“I’m really not? It’s because my sister lost her phone, and,” he grinned sheepishly, scratching the back of his head, “I want to help her earn money as soon as possible. Because if I don’t-“

He grabbed both your arms, making you flinch a little in surprise, but not pull away, eyebrows perked at his words.

“-she’s going to make me drive her to uni every day! Do you want that for me?” He whisper-shouted this last bit, and you shrugged his arms off.

“I don’t even know your name, so…”

“Kim Jungwoo. Jungwoo. Are you from America?”

“How could you tell?” You smiled, the English rolling off your tongue with ease. “I’m actually technically from Canada. Born and raised. Lived in New York for a while, so…close enough, I guess.”

“Oh! So is my roommate! His brother is auditioning for SM tomorrow, and he needs me to drive them both there-“

You laughed, this time your head naturally rocking back. “Are you the campus free uber or something, Kim Jungwoo?”

“No, he’s dating my sister. Mark’s brother, not him. Hey!” He pointed one finger out, almost comically, like a cartoon character. “You should date Mark.”

“Why?”

“Because you’re both from Canada. It just makes sense. He gets lonely sometimes. I think it’ll be good. Will you come with me?” He talked with the speed of someone on drugs, but with none of the fatigue or lack of lust for life. In fact, he was what you would expect if you asked anyone in the world to picture someone bright and cheery.

You told yourself that was the only reason you said yes that day. Never could you have known how far your relationship would end up growing. Like the first seeds someone carelessly tosses to the dirt in the cold season, another person notices and starts to water here and then, it was only a matter of time before something bloomed come summer.

“We’re going to be late.”

“Oh, relax.” Jungwoo scoffed, but you eyed his nervous hands, shaking and fumbling with everything, from the gear stick to the AC controls. Behind you, Mark’s voice called out. “Did you want me to-“

“No, Mark. It’s fine.” You shared a knowing glance with the Canadian boy in the back seat, and Jungwoo noticed. He coughed, smiling like he knew something everyone else didn’t. “Shut up.” You hissed. He giggled louder, now catching the attention of Mark’s brother behind the driver’s seat, his eyes warily leaving his phone for only a second or two. “What’s so funny?”

Jungwoo finally pulls back the gear shift, that engine now grumbling to life. “I just think _ is too nice and pretty to not have a date for Christmas.” Puppy dog eyes now on you, shirt hanging loosely on his body, he turned and tapped you on the chin playfully. You rolled your eyes, groaning. “Oh my god. Tell me why I even started talking to you that day?”

“You said you reminded me of a puppy.” He pouted, making a tiny, perhaps insignificant part of you beam with something warmer, deeper that just friendship. For the past month, Jungwoo and you had been on a casual texting basis. If by casual, you meant every day, multiple times a day. Turns out you both just had a lot to talk about, or were drawn to each other, or…well, you didn’t want to think about it too much. All you knew is that for the first time since you had arrived here, or honestly, in your entire life, you felt like yourself. And that was enough for you. More than enough.

Now here you guys were, talking about dates for Christmas.

“Can we go, guys? Seriously.” You nodded aggressively and swatted at Jungwoo to start the car, while Mark leaned over, tapping you on the shoulder. Your body swayed as Jungwoo started driving as if he hadn’t driven in ten years. “Jungwoo told me your lips are pretty.”

“Uhm, excuse me!” Jungwoo braked hard at the lights, making the two men in the backseat yelp, Mark now flown back with a resounding dull thump. “Oh my god. Forget making it on time. I’m not sure we’ll make it there alive.” Concerned murmurs filled the car, but Jungwoo kept his foot on the accelerator, pushing through. “Oh relax, guys. And also, you agreed with me, Mark!”

“Well,” You pressed your head against the seat, hoping to avoid a future concussion. “I am wearing Min-ah’s lipgloss, so, it’s all thanks to her.” You shared a smile with Jungwoo, him glancing at you for far too long for someone on a busy road. Mark’s brother raised his arm in frustration. “Jungwoo! Please. I want to be an idol, I want to live!” A loud honk kick-started the car again, narrowly missing the lights changing from yellow to red at the busy intersection.

“Oh, Jin-hyung! That means you could probably advertise the glosses, right?” He slunk back into his seat, muttering something like they’re both mad. “Well, like, after you pass, of course.”

“I’m not sure I will.” Everyone in the car started overlapping with words of affirmations and enthusiastic praises, even yourself. “You’re so great! And you’ve practiced, what, like ten times? And that’s just in front of us.”

“Yeah, Hyung.” Mark’s hands patted Jin-hyung’s knee. “You’re the best singer I know.”

Jin-hyung turned to face Mark swiftly. “Can you come in with me?”

“Um, wait-“

“Please? I’m gonna shit myself if I go in alone. Please?”

Jungwoo leant in towards you, and you immediately placed one hand on his shoulder, steadying him. “Easy, tiger. You know you have to stay in your seat to drive, right?”

His eyes not leaving the road, he asked, “What are they talking about?”

“Jin-hyung’s asking Mark if he can come in with him. I’m not sure if that’s allowed…” You trailed off, watching the building tower over you, drizzles of rain prickling the wide front window. “Wow. Is this it?”

Jungwoo nodded, his attention now on the brothers in the back seat as he tried to park the car. The atmosphere was noticeably intense now, and you also weren’t sure how to react. He coughed. “We’re here. You guys alright?”

“No. Shit, I can’t do it. I can’t.” Jin-hyung’s face was one of pure terror, face pale and clammy, pit stains now forming on his shirt despite the cold blasts of air from the AC. You and Jungwoo shared a glance, the first one that wasn’t silly, rolling your eyes or smirking. “Well, a-are you sure?”

He was quiet, and you noticed light reflecting off the rearview mirror, Mark looking down and biting his lip, face marked with intense concentration. The tension in the car was suddenly thick, like the way a bread knife runs through a block of cold butter, and you swallowed. Finally, Mark spoke. “Okay, Hyung. I’ll come in with you.”

You watched as Jin-young’s chest retreated as he breathed a sigh of relief, cheeks still flushed and red. He tried not to let this relief show, but his voice cracked as he spoke softly. “Thanks, Min-hyung.”

After the two left the car, it was just you and Jungwoo. And, for the first time since you guys had met, it was quiet, maybe even a little awkward. Your hands flew towards the controls of the car, trying to fill the time, only to be met with Jungwoo’s skin on the back of his hand. Wow, he felt so soft. “Oh, sorry. Do you listen to music? I mean, should we?” Retreating your hand slowly, you let your eyes travel to his face.

“Kiss me.”

“What?” You didn’t even register, even as you replied. He looked equally as shocked, staring back at you blankly as if someone else had said what he had said. He let one arm slump over the back of his seat, and your heart starting pounding, your throat clammy. “Jungwoo…”

“I don’t know why I said that, sorry.”

“Wait, do you…But you wanted…me and Mark…”

“I know!” He brought both his palms to his face, rubbing his eyes so hard until it felt like you were seeing stars. “I know. That was so stupid. I can’t believe that just happened.”

You were silent, your emotions rattling inside you noisily, threatening to blow your cover. Your mouth opened and closed a few times, until you stared at his doe eyes, his cheeks now flushed pink with embarrassment. You leaned over, closing your eyes at one point before your lips met, soft, plush, a mix of his morning Americano and the strawberry lipbalm from Min-ah. Pulling away, you were met with the tiny intricacies of his face, his scent, the feeling of his shirt under your palm. The cologne he was wearing tickled your sinuses. Normally you hated that smell, but today…

“Was that okay?” His breath caressed the thin skin on your face, and you nodded almost involuntarily. “Your cologne is a bit strong for me, though.”

“My what?”

“Sorry.” You had no idea why you were so unfiltered with him, thoughts running free from the confines of your brain and into the air. “It’s just…men’s cologne makes me sneeze.”

“Oh baby, you are so cute.” His voice deepened and it felt like someone just released a dozen hungry butterflies loose in your stomach, beautiful and urgent. He chuckled, pressing a kiss now to the sides of your lips. “You’re cute when you blush. So cute.”

The sound of the car door opening made you both jump, both pulling away in the process, backs now snug against your own seats. “How did it-“ you started.

“Min-hyung is going to be an idol!” Jin-hyung’s face was sweaty and warm, his eyes puffy and red possibly from crying, but he wore an unapologetic smile on his face, like this was what he wanted all along, and the relief was simply euphoric.

You pulled your hand away from inside his, trying to rid the clammy feeling off your palms. “What’s wrong?”

“Just nervous.” Jungwoo towered over you, wearing one of those denim fleece jackets you loved so much over a white t-shirt you had gifted him 2 weeks ago. “You look so yummy in white, Woo.” You wanted to cringe at that your own voice reverberating through your skull, but you felt warm and nice instead, like you had just sipped hot chocolate in this freezing weather. He knocked his ankle against yours, playfully pushing you to the side, only to drag you back with his arm looped around yours. “I’m right here. It’s okay.”

“Okay.” You nodded, but anxiety still stirred inside you, making you sick. “Plus, we can always leave if you want.”

“_! Jungwoo-hyung!” Mark looked small in his oversized puffer jacket, waving one arm over his head enthusiastically. Beside him was Johnny Suh, a trainee friend of Mark’s from Chicago, master of sarcasm and dad jokes. Walking up towards the two men, Jungwoo’s arms slipped away from yours, and you playfully patted Johnny on the arm. “Hey, you.”

“Hey, gorgeous. Wait, are you and Jungwoo a thing now?” You half-smiled, shivering against the blast of cold air that pierced through your stockings. You felt warmth spreading on the small of your back, and Jungwoo’s voice behind you. “Yeah, man.”

“I got him that.” You pointed at Jungwoo’s shirt, and he pulled you closer to your side, squeezing your hip firmly. “Yeah. So you can stop flirting with her now.”

“Damn, so you went out with her only to stop me from flirting? Red flag.” He raised his eyebrows comically, and you laughed, but Jungwoo didn’t seem very amused, not to you. He smiled and nodded, but you immediately knew he was uncomfortable. His lips were pale but plump, and you fought the urge to kiss him, biting your own bottom lip in reflex.

When you went inside, you wriggled your shoulders, shaking off your coat. “Hey, baby, you okay? You’re not jealous, are you?” Your tone was teasing, but you watched him carefully, at the way he avoided eye contact with you as he searched for an empty space on the coat rack. “I’m fine.” He muttered, and you pressed your lips together, fighting a giggle. Probably your toxic trait but he was so cute when he was sulky and pouty that you didn’t know how anyone took him seriously. “Woo, please. Don’t lie.”

“Okay!” He still wasn’t looking at you, smiling and nodding at passersby’s as he spoke. “I don’t care that he flirts with you, I really don’t, I really really…”

“Yes, you do.” You rested your weight on one hip, crossing your arms across your chest to look up at him.

“No, I don’t! I trust you.” The warm flame you had burning inside you erupted, replacing that tiny flame of anxiety, filling you with a sense of security, of love. I trust you.

“But you said I’m the funniest man you met, yet you keep laughing at his jokes.”

It was your turn laugh noisily in response, so much so that Mark noticed and joined in from afar, probably already a little tipsy and sharing random anecdotes from his life that no one asked for. You brushed snow off your boyfriend’s shoulders, watching as his nose and cheeks flushed red from the cold. “Cute. You’re so cute.”

“Well, I know that, but am I funny? I don’t care if your exes were hot or whatever, but funny?”

“First of all, you know you’re my first serious relationship. And secondly, Johnny’s humour is different. It’s more flirty, on the spot. You, well, you’re awkward and cute funny, you know? Plus,” you leaned in, intentionally letting the lipgloss on your lips smudge on his sensitive skin behind his ear, “you’re the only one I wanna kiss so bad right now.”

“WOAH! Get a room, you too!” You pulled away, noticing that the red on his cheeks were deeper, spreading all over his face. His eyes stared back at you almost blankly, and you pecked his cheek. “After this, okay? You can have all of me.”

Chest heaving, you shut your eyes, wanting to savour every moment that had passed. Your bare skin shone with a thin layer of sweat, legs tangled in his. You felt him brush up against your neck, his voice vibrating in your ears. “Was that okay?” He asked as if he already knew the answer, pressing his bare body closer to you. You answered by bringing your face closer to his, and he sighed. “You taste like watermelon today. Lemon yesterday, and then strawberry on Tuesday.”

“Jungwoo, this isn’t what I wanted you to say after we had sex for the first time.”

“Sorry.” His eyes were flickering shut. “But you taste really good. Like, everywhere.”

“That’s so cute and kind of nasty too.” You scrunched your nose, and he chuckled. You hiked one leg above his thigh, needing him again. “Can I?”

He kissed you, sucking your lips, making you moan audibly and the tension in your body release as you sunk down on his length. “O-oh.” You whimpered as he began to thrust slowly into you, pressing your hips tight against his. “Fuck, yes.”

Your boobs against his bare chest, arms wrapped around his broad shoulders, you kissed him deeply, not wanting to lose contact. He groaned, thrusts getting sloppier as you felt yourself reach your own high for the second time.

Your butt was getting sore from sitting on the hard surface of the stairs for hours, but you didn’t care. You watched him hang out with his friends, making them laugh so hard you could hear them from metres away. You held the envelope tight in your shaky hands, suddenly nervous. What if he didn’t like it?

“Hey, _.” The stairs creaked as you looked up, watching Johnny’s figure shrouded by the faded light of dusk. You shuffled over as he sat next to you, resting his arms over his knees. He looked tired, only hints of his sarcastic self shining through here and there. “You here to see the missus?”

“Johnny.” You rolled your eyes, but your stomach churned as you realised his eyes were on the envelope in his hands. You snatched it away to hide under your jacket, but it was obviously too late. “What’s that? Is that for him?”

“Yeah.” You had no idea where this self-consciousness suddenly was coming from. You were so proud of it, even this morning as you were driving here. Johnny was silent, matching you as you both sat, letting the distant sounds of the boys yelling fill the space between you for a few moments. Finally, he spoke.

“He loves you.” You swallowed, suddenly feeling tears well up in your eyes. When was the last time anyone had loved you like that? “So don’t worry. He’ll like it.” He patted your shoulder, and with a few thundering steps, he was gone.

As you stood in front of Jungwoo again, the same nervousness brewing in your stomach, you tried to remember those words.

“What? Who loves me? What guy?” Jungwoo looked confused, genuinely frowning and holding your hands in his. You furrowed your eyebrows, slowly coming out of your thoughts. “What?”

“You just said, ‘he loves you’.”

“Oh, oh…I said that out loud?” You removed one hand to tuck a strand of hair behind your ear. “Look, I, had this entire monologue prepared, but, um, I’m just a bit nervous.”

“Why?” He caressed your face, and you heard some ooos and cheers come from the right of you. Jungwoo rolled his eyes. “Lee Donghyuck, if you don’t-“

You watched Haechan give you both over-enthusiastic thumbs up with his hands, and Jungwoo gently guided you off the stage, his hand flush on the small of your back. “Just relax, baby. It’s just me. You’re making me nervous. Is something wrong?”

“No, nothing like that.” You shook your head just as you whipped out the envelope and thrust it sideways. Your heart felt like it was bursting out of your chest, under all the layers you were wearing. You blurted out. “I kissed the pages. I kissed them after putting on the lip balms and glosses and lipsticks I wore when I kissed you and you told me I tasted good. I know! That’s the kind of thing that sounds cute in theory, but absolutely psychotic in real life. And I just-“

Jungwoo shut you up with a kiss, the envelope grazing your side as he held you tight with his other arm. Goosebumps ran up your limbs, despite all your layers. Pulling away, he rubbed his nose against yours, making you break out in a smile, despite how corny it was. “You’re probably thinking about how corny this all is. But I love it. I love this. And I love you.”

Behold, the fic I've been teasing! On October 25th, 2024, my best friend @oojamaflip-whatchamacallit and I stayed up until 2 AM making a dreadfully complicated and artfully color-coded flowchart. Now, two months, many plot changes, and two unplanned chapters later, that flowchart has been transformed into a beautiful baby fanfiction. And by baby I mean about 22k words, without the two chapters that aren't technically part of the story.

Hi eldritch and thank you for the questions, some of them really got me thinking ❤️ 14. First I need to sit down and think what I want to convey with the emotional scene. And based on that, plus what's happening on the scene, I need to dip into characters heads, like what are they both feeling at this very moment, what kind of emotional charge are they coming into this scene with, what memories and past experiences of theirs are relevant that might affect what they say and how they act and feel. And then I go from there to write out the actual scene. I definitely feel what the characters feel, I go, or should I say slip, into their head so easily. So that's why when I write angst, it can get pretty hard for me, especially if me myself and I are not feeling 100% atm. I do draw from personal experiences when I'm writing, if there's at least a little bit that I can relate to from my own experience, I use it to help see things from that character's pov or to imagine what they're feeling. It also adds to really feeling the angst 😅 but then again it goes the other way too, like when the characters are in love and feeling positive feelings 😊 33. I used to want it a lot, but I think that dream has changed a bit. At the moment I enjoy writing fanfiction as a hobby, at my own pace, and posting it on ao3. Who knows, maybe the feeling changes again someday but to just know people are reading (and apparently liking??) my writing, is making me feel very content at the moment 😊 40. Oh gosh, so many tbh🥲I mean wouldn't mind some spicy art from my smutty oneshots (like um... the goddess one 🥵) or perhaps the accident-filled meeting of barista Shadowheart and Clara from Before The Last Brew. But of course my mind mostly wanders upon To Defy The Gods. Would love to see a kiss between my redemption DJ Shadowheart and Tav, or perhaps [Spoilers ahead for those who aren't up to date until ch 9] the moment when Shadowheart defied Shar for the first time for Tav or perhaps when Shadowheart called upon Selûne's aid when they all were about to perish and became her cleric [spoilers end here]. But I think scenes that I would like a lot to see as artwork haven't even happened yet (I pretty much have the whole plot of the fic outlined until the last chapter), some epic moments ahead I can't reveal yet. There's even one coming in the next chapter that I would love to see as an art piece 👀 56. This is a hard one as I am very self-critical and tend just to see things to improve on in my writing. But I've been told that I'm good at writing smut scenes, bringing both tender and spicy to it. But I suppose what I most pride myself on is my ability to go into characters head, for example in To Defy The Gods I've written a lot of scenes from Shadowheart's pov and I feel I've done a good job writing things from her perspective, what she would say and how she would react based on what she has experienced.

[COD MW2 HCS] 141 + Los Vaqueros + König with a Neutral Gender! Writer! Reader

A/N : How come we never see a Reader as a writer in whatever fandom - or am I blind - in headcanons ? I mean... So many people writing amazing fanfictions or headcanons on this platform or everywhere else and... No ? Really ? We’re talking about a military Reader here, by the way.

TW : none (for once) except the ugly typos you may encounter. Only one very little mention of smutty litterature

John “Soap” MacTavish

So... Let’s start with our lovely Scottish sergeant

It is apparently canon that he likes to draw on a small notebook he keeps with him dearly.

So he knows. He is acquainted with the ‘writer’s zone’ we flee into when inspiration holds us within its graceful arms. When the images of action flood through out brain when a stroke of genius light up our features and how we appear lost in some kind of parallel universe only us are able to interact with (well... it’s how it looks like for me, feel free to comment - writer or not - how your imagination works)

However, Soap is mostly aware about the tropes and what we can consider as the technical side of writing such as relashionship dynamics for your characters - if it implies the said relashionships -

I think he is the kind to prefer roomates universes because of the domesticity he is able to find there and friendship warms his heart. Although, that’s just an impression.

He is actually the biggest help out of the 141 because when he draws he also uses the codes of his type of creation for his cute doodles you suspect him to scribble on the yellowed paper of his little diary.

He knows what it is to lack of insipiration, even though he tends to throw his thoughts on the paper and reproduces his surroundings.

He appreciates the smallest details that compose his world. He notices them all.

But I digress.

You two share a world not so accessible for the rest of the team. When you talk about [Insert fiction character of trope here] in a very specific context, the others gaze at you confused.

More than writing, it is a little sweet thing you two share and you would never lose that for anything in the world.

Simon “Ghost” Riley

He... Understands... Not like Soap. He doesn’t have that much imagination.

He gets it is your hobby. It is as valuable as any other activity.

Simon thinks it’s cute in some way. You, lost in thought, next to him, about and into something he can’t quite grasp. And a sheet of paper or the blank screen of an app on your tablet or whatever device you judged comfortable.

At first, you asked for his help about some details, or his opinion, or his advice. Then, you understood he was too down-to-earth and wounded by his abusive past to allow himself to relax this way next to you.

Yet, you used your hobby as a way to stay with him as a support. He had just to tug a bit at your sleeve and all your attention would be on him.

It was the first step.

You understood quickly that your writing might be able to help him unwind and finally get comfortable.

You write him silly stories, made for him to laugh, or to smile at least. It wasn’t a big deal, just fables. You have no idea what he does with it. You just hope it enables him to dream even if just during the day like a fleeting thought clinging to him. A distant echo of something nice his heart and his memory agreed on keeping dearly underneath his leaden shell.

You also may be the one reading your own stories to him. But the mistakes, the inconsistencies or the lack of meaning and every little flaws in your writing may appear much more visible once clearly uttered.

By dint of effort, you manage to soften him a bit. He doesn’t want to ask you if he could read either what you are writing or if you have something for him. However, he eventually hopes within the depth of his heart that he can flee from reality for a few minutes.

He is so grateful to you even though he is bitter on the fact he can’t bring you much constructive criticism.

Kyle “Gaz” Garrick

Another one who understands one might have such a hobby but he may not relate.

I don’t see Gaz as someone who reads a lot. It’s just not his thing. He’ll read for sport news or something related to one of his own hobbies.

I guess he doesn’t have the patience to sit somewhere comfortable and allow his mind to wander this way thanks to your words.

Except maybe when he desperately needs to unwind and his thoughts are too noisy so he needs to occupy his plagued mind with something totally different.

However, he is curious about the creation process.

He’ll ask about your ‘tools’ after you explain to him that your scenario and elements of the story doesn’t entirely pop out of thin air and you may have to rethink and to shape your ideas to make up a story both understandable and enjoyable.

He laughs when he notices about your nonsensical Internet history. How can it be so weird ? And then, he remembers what kinds of research he does when the night isn’t kind to him and he doesn’t laugh anymore.

Sometimes, your brain amazes him. You sound so cool when you take the time to explain some of your ideas.

Kyle is awesome at helping you for worldbuilding. He has a lot of imagination when he manages to leave his military universe on the side and peeks at yours.

He is an excellent beta reader since he is actually very neutral about writing in general and he’ll try to give you the most help possible when you ask him. Too short ? Too long ? Not enough or too much emphasis on a detail ? He just aims at your betterment !

John Price

You are a writer ? Well... As long as you do your duty you can be whatever you want.

He is neutral with the idea of you being a writer. He is a soldier before anything. And a leader at that. He’ll support you because Captain Dad... I mean... Captain Price always supports his team but sometimes the said team gives a hard time to his comprehension and patience.

You’re mostly quiet, with music for your ears, typing or penning something on a sheet of paper. Moreover, it seems like you have some sort of natural distance with Soap’s or Gaz’s - or both - usual chaos.

Price has to say that it amazes him how you are distant of everything when you are in what Soap would call a writer’s fever.

By the way, he happens to watch over you both when Soap draws and you write on the couch of the common room. If you both eventually show him what you created - if you don’t he will not force you - he’ll gaze at you like a proud momma duck despite his best behavior.

He is mostly the one staring in disbelief as you use vocabulary, tropes, imaginary events for your own type of art since he can’t understand it even though you all speak the same language.

Price notices very early you are a skilled writer, or at least you have some experience. The reports he gets from you are probably the best from the soldiers he got under his orders. He might have something to say about the spelling and the shape of your letters if you give him handwritten reports. Depends on you I guess.

He will not ask to read what you write. You can call that the appropriate distance induced by hierarchy. You remain soldiers. You may as well act like it.

Sometimes, you’d like his opinion. An outside point of view about your work is always good, no ? Well... John Price has a Ghost syndrome. He is annoyingly ass deep in his military life. Hence, he faces a very limited imagination except when it comes to interrogate an enemy.

The worst about him is that he could be an amazing beta reader. Constructive criticism and probably giving you ways to improve yourself in what you already are so good at.

Just give him time. He’ll get interested one way or another. First, you may try to be closer emotionally to him. Might be a good start to go past this military hierarchy and to know what his tastes are to get his heart beat only at the tone of your phrasing with your unique talent

Rodolfo Parra

He thinks it’s so cool to have a hobby as enjoyable as he thinks you have just by the way you act when you are writing.

Rudy doesn’t have the time to delve that deeply into a hobby. Los Vaqueros constantly demand his attention. However, when he gets the time he - like Gaz - tries to ask about the process of writing. He even tries to write by himself.

You explained about the tropes and dynamics and he seemed to get it immediately. Childhood friends to lovers is his favorite one by the way.

It was just a little story he came up with. It was the first thing that stuck to his imagination, appearing out of an obscure place of his brain. It was uncertain, somewhat shaky but simple and, in a way, adorable.

He almost took it personally when you said this small piece of text was just like him.

However, before you sink even deeper in awkwardness, you dismissed this last interaction and tried to correct him the best you could.

After that, he was looking forward the little time when you could write with him and he could learn. Another thing, it’s quiet around you, focused, relaxed. Alejandro knows where to find him when he is looking for his right hand.

He could be an amazing beta reader if he wasn’t so kind. He forgives you everything. “Have you noticed inconsistencies or flaws ?” you’d ask. “Maybe a little something here but I’m sure it’s me” he’d reply. Unnerving, right ? The gentlest reader but you don’t need him to be so nice. You need him to be observant.

He also comes up with very simple ideas when it comes to writing but his way of apprehending things has something one can’t quite describe. My closest synonym would be a vibe, something like raw talent that only needs to be explored thoroughly. It resembles to cutting a diamond, sharpen the edges to make it glistening and precious.

His imagination is not too chaotic but his thinking and reasoning develops and fill in the gaps of his originality.

Anyways, Rudy is amazing. As always.

Alejandro Vargas

There has to be one who does not take you very seriously. Well... It is Alejandro. The Mexican colonel is... something else, to say the least. He considered himself a man of action and not a man of words. So, to him, whatever you were doing with those scraps of paper during your free time was none of his business.

He’ll try some kind of joke with you writing nasty things in the secret of that little head of yours. Two answers now. “No, colonel, I’m not into writing that kind of litterature” would be the first reponse with a hint of scorn hidden behind your deadpan aspect.

The second answer though... “Yeah ! I write smut ! Now that we’re talking about that, do you mind if I use your features for my next...” and then you proceed to make a very descriptive, thoroughly explained speech about your imaginary Alejandro and what you planned him to do in this small story of yours. The point was to make the colonel embarassed. Although, it worked better on Rudy who went blushing like a tomato.

If you choose the second option, it will end up in nasty jokes each time you meet each other. This silly game is absolutely unsufferable for everyone making the mistake to listen to you.

If anything, your relashionship suffers from this disregard. You didn’t ask Alejandro’s appreciation, hardly tolerance even but it left a sort of bitter taste. Rudy is... Kinder. More understanding.

However, what happens is that you tend to be consequently more distant from Alejandro. It may have been a silly joke about a pastime of yours but writing is so personal that it was as if he made a joke about your own self and this was intolerable. He had no business disrespecting you this way.

Beyond that, you banished him from your writing process. His opinion, his hypothetical help, what he might like to see within a story - doesn’t matter how silly it may be - he was no part of it.

If he changes his mind, you’d tend to retort him something alike “Let’s stay in our own field of expertise colonel. Let me dream about my stories. And you, dream about chasing El Sin Nombre. Good fences make good neighbors as one says”.

Something that also might happen is that Rudy’s new habit of unwinding with you quietly in the common room and having long conversations with you about that hobby you were now both sharing made him feel weird. Alejandro was surely passionate and admitting he’s wrong - at least for this - was no part of his character but this was the proof he should’ve acted differently. The realisation took its time but he eventually accepts the fact he made an asshole of himself.

He’ll apologise when he catches you alone, writing. Now the question may be about how much time do you want to play with him for having been such an arse.

Eventually, Alejandro learns his lesson and he even asks you to read what you write. When he’s done, he is so silent, gawking. You laugh at him.

König

Our gigantic, adorable Austrian operator is a book worm. It’s horrendous. The heavy bullying he has been a victim got him to be safe between the shelves of library. The scent of old paper and the calm of the library got him out of his skin, journeying between worlds out of his appalling daily life. He was typically the dreamy, lonely kid who had characters inside his head as sole company.

So yeah. Books mean relief, respite, getaway for him as well as a way to heal himself from the pain he received from his classmates or whoever hurt him in his younger days.

He doesn’t have much time for reading anymore and these books are a little too bulky for the small package he was allowed to have. So having you near him is like a blessing. He can talk out his thoughts.

Beyond writing, it is the vibe around you that convinces him to sit next to you in the common room. He tried to make himself small, to not take too much of the couch but you couldn’t deny his thigh touching yours. You raised your head and smiled at him. König did not utter a single word, already flustered to fail at conversing. But, as time goes on - and after numerous times he just sat next to you enabling himself to move a muscle - you made most of the conversation. He felt almost immediately at ease.

You two daydream together now, talking about little things always related to writing or reading. It is also a way to relax after close calls and the danger of being killed.

He is the KING at worldbuilding. König has always several ideas coursing through his brain. His mind is sometimes chaotic, full of details. He gave you the impression once that telling the history of one of this world would create a great saga on it own. Moreover, König is so passionate about these little bouts of thoughts put together.

He is also very aware about tropes and dynamics. His favorite of the latter is the small protector x the big shy character because he can relate. And he also has a soft post for a good ol’ mutual pining or a hypothetical love at first sight - as unlikely as it seems in real life -

He doesn’t try to write with you though. He knows he is not too good at this, which is weird considering the tremendous amount of time he can spend while reading. Although, König knows he may have a chance if he writes in German. It depends on you being able to understand him or not.

König is also a dissatisfactory beta reader, different from Rudy though. He doesn’t dare utter what he judges as flaws because he thinks he’d lose you. He is so happy to be the first reading whatever you are working on because it makes him feel so special.

He always supports you and tries to relax you when pangs of frustration creeps inside your mind because your writing doesn’t go the way you plan it to be.

Just like with Soap, what you two have is not understandable by the people around you. What’s more is that König’s anxious nature tends to keep you both distant from the people outside of your little bubble.

It‘s a pity that in 1991 fanfiction wasn‘t this self-evident as it is today. I love all those talented and brave writers that let us enjoy their amazing works about our favorite movies, tv series and so on.

And I would bet I could have found hundreds of stories about at least two specific episodes of Matlock! Yes, I really mean that old tv series of a grey haired lawyer starring Andy Griffith.

Episodes 1 and 2 of season 6 are full of possibilities for lovely romantic stories, smutty ones and all in between. I just love Matlock with his crush Julie March flirting along and hinting what they also could do 😄

Unfortunately there is not much to find in the world wide web and that really is a pity. So many lost opportunities!

I’m not sure if it ever reaches anyone but I’m really not interested in shutting up on this one.

So, there’s another drama boiling today in the HL fandom (like we haven’t got enough of it already). Someone called sclinaz on TikTok made this video about “getting traumatised by nsfw content including underage characters and created by adult people” and added a list of content creators who are “weirdos”, suggesting blacklisting them.

Here I want to debate fan-made content using underage fictional characters (in this case, characters are 15-16yo, and it will be important later) being classified as paedophilia.

Lemme tell you why I am even writing this. First and foremost, I’m a survivor of actual sexual child abuse, and I personally know what it is like to be an underage kid being sexualised and exploited by an adult. And from my perspective, there’s been some… misunderstanding about how things actually work. So I want to share what I think about it because I believe I have a vote on such questions.

So here’s what sclinaz states as the reason for “calling out” the creators:

So the reason sclinaz feels traumatised is that realisation that some adults have been creating smutty content (fanfiction, fanart, audio) that implies these adult creators have been “imagining doing sexual things with underage characters while creating this content”.

Well, first things first, I understand the discomfort such thoughts might bring. Especially when you’re a teenager yourself, thinking of it might feel even painfully menacing. But here’s the thing:

1. Everyone has their own preferences

This means that different people find different things arousing. Someone is getting off on the feet pics, and someone else is dreaming about being non consensually manhandled. It’s okay, it’s fine, tastes differ.

People of all ages have sexual fantasies, it’s totally normal. These fantasies can include things that you can find gross or inappropriate, even dangerous. For example, not everyone is going to like content made from fantasies that a member of a BDSM community might create. That’s why we created trigger and content warnings, right?

But what about all these nasty paedophiles and voyeurs and etc? Are you trying to say being sexually attracted to children or spying on people in private places is just a matter of a different taste and personal preference?

Well, here is quite a clear and precise answer for that.

2. Not every "unusual" sexual fantasy is a pathology

Look, I'm a gay man, and I mostly fantasize about having sex with other men, obviously. This might feel "unnatural" or "disgusting" to someone who isn't gay, but it doesn't make me a psycho, right? If you don't trust me on that, you can at least refer to what psychiatry says on that matter (and that's what the hypothetical court would refer to as well).

Sexual fantasies are considered a pathologic disorder only if both of the two criteria apply:

They are intense and persistent.

They cause significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning, or they harm or have the potential to harm others (eg children, nonconsenting adults).

There's a DSM-5 change to this wording if you like:

Most people with atypical sexual interests do not have a mental disorder. To be diagnosed with a paraphilic disorder, DSM-5 requires that people with these interests:

feel personal distress about their interest, not merely distress resulting from society’s disapproval; or

have a sexual desire or behaviour that involves another person’s psychological distress, injury, or death, or a desire for sexual behaviours involving unwilling persons or persons unable to give legal consent.

So there are two conclusions to make out of this:

Fantasising about something illegal does not equal doing something illegal Sharing one's fantasies with consenting adults is not illegal

Both statements are pretty easy to apply to our everyday thinking process. Let's say Tarantino has just made a new movie with lots of violence, blood and whatnot in his unique style.

Is it illegal for him to produce such content? Is it illegal for me to go to the cinema and watch the movie? Even when it is about nazis? Even when it is about a justified murder spree?

See, fantasies are really far from the real world.

But, Levi, you might say, a way of 1000 miles starts with a single step! What if today a pedo is writing a fanfic about two teens, and tomorrow they go and assault a real kid?!

Yeah, more than a reasonable concern. But hear me out...

3. Paedophiles do not read Young Adult (fan)fiction. They are interested in prepubescent/early puberty

This is actually part of the definition of what "Paedophilia" means. If you dig a little, you'll see it's commonly noted that the absolute majority of child abuse victims were children of age 13 and younger.

No need to go far for the example: I was 13 when I was assaulted. And I was groomed since I was 7.

But you don't have to trust me, of course. Here are some statistics: 89k teens aged 14 to 21 vs almost 500k children aged 13 and younger. I'm a math prof, so let me count this for you: only 15% of children who fell victim to CA were older than 14.

Source: US Department of Health and Human Services; Administration for Children & Families Child maltreatment 2021, pages 37-38

This is about child abuse in general, and if we look into it more attentively, we'll see that less than 10% of all CA reports are classified as sexual abuse.

This might give us an approximate (and very, very rough) estimate of 8,3% of all CA victims being victims of SA and younger than 14yo. This means 85% of victims of CSA were 13 years old or younger. Let's see if this rough estimate we've built based on the assumption that SA follows normal distribution on the age of victims is anywhere close to the real world.

Here are some statistics for France (numbers we're interested in are paywalled but present in the overview and relate to year 2019):

Here we see that the average age of the victim is 4 to 9 years old, and only 25% of victims were older than 16. Believable.

What is more, here's an actual study that says: The results confirmed that the age range between 6 and 11 years is a high-risk period, with increased prevalence for the first episode in three of the six experiences with contact assessed, in line with previous studies [15,16,20,29,30,31]. <...> However, adolescence has also been found to be a period of high risk for CSA for both genders, with the age range from 12 to 15 years old being the most prevalent for two CSA experiences and with high percentages in the rest of the events. This result supports the findings of previous studies that consider adolescence as a moment of increased risk for sexual abuse and intercourse [11,21,30,39,40], and indicates the need to reinforce preventive programs in the adolescent stage.

With all effort, this doesn't sound like something that can grow out of the fantasy about two consenting teenagers of 15-16yo discovering their sexuality together.

One might argue that an adult who is sexually involved with a teenager is still very unhealthy happening, and I would totally agree with that. But there is a difference between fiction and reality, right? Let's imagine a Netflix series that is centred around high school kids exploring their bodies and sexuality and includes an excessive amount of scenes where a sexual encounter involving teenagers (underaged characters) is shown.

I am talking about "Sex Education", which is a pretty popular title that is doubly paedophilic content... But okay, two consenting teenagers having sex is okay. But the writer who wrote the script, and all the people who were involved in filming the scene -- they were all adults, pretending to be these underaged characters, or even worse -- watching it! Does it make anyone of them or any of the viewers a paedophile?

Not to mention that the entire industry of Young Adult fiction is mainly written and published by people in their 30-40 or even older.

But Levi! How are you going to protect the kids? There are only measures that are taken after the abuse has already happened! We need to spread awareness to help prevent such crimes from happening!

Good point! Assault that never happened brings much more happiness than seeing your perpetrator going to jail. But...

4. Today little effective evidence-based strategies for proactively protecting children from CSA are available

You should spread awareness about THIS if you want to help.

I'll explain what's the problem here. Claiming someone as a pedo on the internet is relatively easy. But what do you think is going to happen next? Batman-led law enforcement automagically captures them and, after a just trial will apply them an appropriate punishment? I am very sorry, but I guess I might just have some bad news for you.

Unfortunately, clearance on recorded sexual exploitations of minors is rarely higher than 60% (e.g. Statistical Yearbook of Finland 2022, page 287, Références statistiques Justice 2022, page 145). There are many reasons why this happens, but also there are ways to change that. What can you personally do?

Actively participate in informed discourse about what sexual abuse is and who might be in danger.

Spread awareness that perceived parental care is the only protective factor against CSA. Highlight the importance of involving parents in prevention programs, giving them the resources for early detection of sexual abuse, and teaching them how to provide support to their children.

Help create and vote for the implementation of education programs, including sexual abuse information and resources as part of the school and teacher education curricula, as well as support services to students in the school context.

5. Cancelling fandom content creators does not help anyone

This is actually a direct conclusion from the previous point.

Creating content is not illegal and does not count as evidence for perpetration. Thus, calling out a person who has merely written a niche kink fanfic is going to:

(a) destroy this person's public reputation and mental health (b) bring nothing towards prosecution and/or conviction of a real perpetrator (if any) (c) make the fuss about "pedo alert" quickly become "boring" and "pushy", which might accidentally silence someone's REAL cry out for help

You do know this story about the boy who shouted about the wolves, right? That's the same.

Why the actual fuck do I care so much? You see, when I was raped at the age of 13 by the man who was my sports coach and my aunt's fiance, I tried to tell my parents, my aunt and my peers about what happened. I tried to get help because I knew (and I was right) that this would happen again if nobody intervened.

Did anyone believe me? Did anyone take me seriously?

Sadly, no.

Mainly because it wasn't something people were aware of might happen to them. It was a horror story for newspapers and TV criminal chronicles. And meanwhile, it was happening right in front of everyone to see, not in fiction, not on TV, not via AI. Right next door.

So if you want to help, then please. Go talk to your younger siblings; go speak to your caregiving friends. Go vote for sexual education in schools. Go and donate a dollar to the local (child) sexual abuse help/prevention centre. Spread the contacts of crisis centres.

Fanfiction ask meme! 9 (for pretty boy, because I'm obsessed with it, so sue me), 13, and 24 (which feels like it's meant to have a generic "love it/hate it" answer, but I'm really curious about whether writing smut feels different to non-smutty scenes and any and all of your thoughts on that!)

9) The entire nightmare sequence in the church hands down. Every time I write a trippy dream or nightmare sequence (or acid trip sequence) just know that is when I am having a fucking blast. But everything to do with that church scene is my favorite and still is, I kind of went hard as fuck on that and I am unashamedly proud of it

13) Fuck now this is a question, I haven't written for that many characters, but as far as having to write background characters my least favorite is Tuk not because I hate her by any means 😭 I just struggle with how it feels to get in that headspace of a child that young, it causes dissociation which I don't want to deal with while writing. That could just be me though other parts/alters enjoy writing for her the few times she does pop up while they absolutely loathe writing Quaritch which is very amusing all things considered! He can just be such a finicky bastard to pin down and make cooperate

24) Writing smut doesn't necessarily feel any different to writing non-smutty scenes! But I have to be in a particular mindset to write it, the stars have to align, certain factors in my headspace have to come together or else the smut comes off with less punch than the scenes without it. I remember being embarrassed for absolutely no reason when I started to write smut and couldn't even type the word cock let alone cunt, thankfully that changed real fast and I don't even break a sweat moving between a scene with sick nasty fucking and complete absence of sensuality. I do really enjoy writing sex as this looming presence in the background even during scenes where no smut is occuring at all; there's just something about it, especially when writing characters that are hypersexual like pretty boy Jake or just like rJake in sick guy who is hungry as fuck to fill a gaping artifical void. I absolutely love writing smut and non-smut scenes equally and find no real difference moving between them– but some days, my brain is truly nefarious and will fire off ideas rapid fire for the most interesting, gut wrenching smut scenes and those are the days when I love writing smut a bit more with a little devil perched on my shoulder whispering in my ear haha

INTERVIEW WITH A WRITER

WHEN DID YOU START WRITING?

Probably around 5 years old. It was my childhood dream to become an author. I wrote a lot in elementary and middle school and dabbled with a variety of ideas and genres in high school. Then, I had a really discouraging setback - long before Google docs, there was only Microsoft Word, which didn't save to a "cloud" or anything like that. My computer straight up died, and I lost about 100 pages of writing. Mourning the lost story, I lacked motivation, and with college on the horizon, I had other priorities. However, many years later, Hogwarts Legacy sparked my creativity and interest in writing again.

ARE THERE DIFFERENT THEMES OR GENRES YOU ENJOY READING OTHER THAN WHAT YOU WRITE?

Right now, I'm really into the Romantasy genre (LOVED Fourth Wing and like the ACOTAR universe so far), and I think any Harry Potter romantic fanfiction fits into that genre. However, I also enjoy more "slice of life" modern romance stories (I enjoy Ali Hazelwood, for example) and Dystopian fiction.

IS THERE A WRITER YOU WANT TO EMULATE OR GET COMPARED TO OFTEN?

There are so many writers I admire, but I want to be seen as unique. I don't want to copy someone else's style. I will just mention that I've seen so many Reylo fanfics get published, and I truly am astonished that publishing houses clearly take notice of them! I'm so happy for any fanfic writer who ends up getting published (Thea Guanzon, Ali Hazelwood, Julie Soto, and many more!)! I do not think that my current work would ever get published, but it's a good first foray back into writing.

CAN YOU TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR WRITING SPACE?

I write at home in different spaces. Sometimes I sit at the kitchen counter; other times I sit on the couch while my husband watches baseball or plays video games. In the summer, I go outside on my patio. I also write in a massage chair! (Yes, I have a fancy massage chair!)

WHAT'S YOUR MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO MUSTER UP A MUSE?

I think there are many answers to this. One would be from fanart - especially when it's commissions for my story. Playing Hogwarts Legacy, especially in parts in which the MC interacts with Sebastian, makes me want to write. Honestly, just reading good novels and fanfics (especially smutty ones 😏) makes me want to write and contribute to this fandom, too!

ARE THERE ANY RECURRING THEMES IN YOUR WRITING? DO THEY SURPRISE YOU?

Love and Adventure are themes in almost everything I've written. Now that I really think about it, almost every romance I've written has had some sort of "forbidden" aspect to it - a couple that seems like they are just too different or are torn apart by others but the odds are always defied for a happy ending.

WHAT IS YOUR REASON FOR WRITING?

I have a lot of ideas, and although they shift and morph into other plot points often, I just have a drive to tell stories. Now that I've started writing again, I feel like I am somehow fulfilling my childhood wish to become an author.

IS THERE ANY SPECIFIC COMMENT OR TYPE OF COMMENT YOU FIND PARTICULARLY MOTIVATING?

EVERY comment is motivating, but I love ones that mention specific parts of my fic or have theories/predictions because it means someone is actually reading.

HOW DO YOU WANT TO BE THOUGHT OF BY YOUR READERS?

Someone who has interesting ideas, has strong characterization in their writing, and can surprise readers with unexpected twists. Also someone who can deliver some high-quality smut! 😏

WHAT DO YOU FEEL LIKE IS YOUR GREATEST STRENGTH AS A WRITER?

My husband thinks I do a good job of portraying characters accurately and writing emotional scenes. IDK... Tough question.

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR OWN WRITING?

Some days I feel like I'm doing great - other days I feel like my work isn't all that interesting. I definitely improved a LOT over time - looking at my first few chapters, I struggled with verb tense (I would go back and forth between present and past tense) and making dialogue sound realistic. My writing is often very sappy, and while I enjoy that, I'm sure others might not love it. No matter what, though, in the end, I write for myself and my own enjoyment, and that helps me to keep going. Every chapter allows for improvement.

WHEN DID YOU START WRITING

Literally only since Hog Leg came out. I’ve had little stories in my head but only ever started writing recently. It’s all very new😅

ARE THERE DIFFERENT THEMES OR GENRES YOU ENJOY READING THAN WHAT YOU WRITE

I write so much sad/angsty emotions. I think even my “lighter/happy” works end up with angst. But I do love reading a happy little fluffy piece. It keeps me sane.

IS THERE A WRITER YOU WANT TO EMULATE OR GET COMPARED TO OFTEN.

This one is difficult😅 unlocks too many fears of getting accused of “copying” people. I guess I’m just my own thing. I should be so lucky as to have my name mentioned amongst my mutuals.

CAN YOU TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR WRITING SPACE

I write most everything on my phone. So I guess. Wherever I happen to be at the time. Though, sometimes I do pull out the laptop and a nice candle.

WHATS YOUR MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO MUSTER UP A MUSE.

Maladaptive daydreaming. I think about them constantly. Almost 24/7. 😳 But otherwise, reading and music are fantastic.

Mostly grief and angst. Which, yes, is surprising, given I don’t feel I have much experience with either. I’m lucky for that though. 🥹

can i get some early seasons samdean recs please i saw in one of your posts you were talking about Them (early seasons obsessed samdean) and i adore them

*rubs my evil little hands together* you came to the right place

If you haven't read The Last Outpost of All That Is, I think it's not only the pinnacle of samdean fic but of fanfiction in general (hence the URL). It's set after John's death but before Dean's deal and diverges from canon (but in a way that makes sense).

Let's start with classic authors:

candle_beck is my favorite spn author of all time. I highly recommend all of their work but will specifically shout out Second Map of the World (set in vague early seasons, first time fic), American Myth (same) and For Keeps For Good Forever (S3 AU).

Another classic author is Paxlux -- all their stuff hits the good spot but I will specifically shout out Artery (very poetic, vague early seasons first time) and Watch the Weather Change (interesting early seasons case fic)

Astolat is another "everything is good author" but I'll shout out Kings Queens and Jokers Too (tall tales AU), Leader of the Pack (S3 AU where Sam has powers) and Taking the Fifth, (one of the few actual AUs I really enjoy).

There's also sevenfists, whose work I fully recommend but will specifically shout out Life As We Know It.

Everyone knows nyxocity but I will shout out specifically Like Staring Into the Sun (it's smutty but hits the brothers-obsessed-with-each-other vibe).

More modern authors:

I'm sure you know about hathfrozen but if not, make no delay and go read their stuff! Sooo good at accurately portraying how WEIRD the brothers are. Shoutouts include Dead Unfinished Selves (S3 AU, disturbing), and The Gold Room (sexual tension the fanfic, S2 setting)

Also, applecrumbledore!!!! They are probably my second favorite author after candle_beck. They write obsession so well! Shoutouts to Human Hands (S2 casefic where Sam has powers) and Dream fuckery (no timeline given, case fic). Their other stuff is pre series or late seasons but I would give it a shot too, especially Acid! I haven't seen anything after S10 but I still really enjoyed it. Very much about obsession.

Kin & Keeper - a very long fic about Dean coming to terms with Sam's death in Swan Song. Tells their relationship through flash backs. Worth the long read!

The Truth in the Lie - fake dating casefic!? What's not to love.

The Other was a Star Shaped Hole - post S5 AU with a bone chilling plot twist. All about obsession and the refusal to let each other go!

Hit the Ground Crawling - S3 AU. Sam pulls Dean out of hell, but he stops talking.

And the Highway Lines Pass By - post S2 AU

It Doesn't Mean You Can Explain the Ocean - vague early seasons, one sided Sam pining but So So So beautiful. Give it a shot!

My little niece said something so profound the other day. She said— with all her 13-year-old wisdom; that she can’t relate to any female character in Naruto. At all. You see, I’m not fifteen anymore, so all of my animosity towards the female characters in Naruto has relatively died down over the years, mainly because I stopped watching it after the manga has ended. watching the series now objectively is really weird to me. Like… really weird.

I think you sent all these messages to the wrong blog.

Just like many other Unpopular Opinions I hold... I am a stern believer of "Kishimoto is not a Misogynist. He is an In between (neither Feminist nor Misogynist)... His annoying Sakura & Hinata were off setted by Wonderful Tsunade, Granny Chiyo and Konan + Saori from Mario manga"

So, Please Block me (???) So that my posts won't hurt your opinion. And please take this post as more of questioning your own words from my POV rather than me bashing or offending you. Since your ask is pretty nice and I have no reason to offend you.

There are so many SNS fanfictions which has Over the Top Romance as the base. Does it means all those Authors are Extremely Romantic in real life???

Then how is it that this claim of 'Kishimoto is a Misogynist because he did dirty to Sakura and Hinata' holds absolute truth???

There is this wonderful movie called Kill Bill which was directed by Quentin Tarantino. I swear it's one of the best commercial movie which passes the Bechdel Test with flying colours. Theres literally 5 women characters who were written with such a care and flair.

Among them, O Ren Ishii is my All time Favorite woman Character in the entire media. Like I am devoted her to the point of building a Worshipping hall for her. And none of women fight for getting an affection from a Dick. All of them were given such a vibrant personality with 80% of the screentime.

With the way this movie was written, you can even say Quentin Tarantino is a Feminist.

But do you know what he did to his Co Star Uma Thurman in real life???

He quite literally forced her to perform a difficult stunt that could take her life if not careful. And as it happens, she got crashed into a tree that almost killed her.

So, A director who made a movie about woman empowerment has no concern for a woman in real life and was even willing to let her die if that could get his job right????

So Tarantino is not a Feminist that he projected through his movie... At best, He is a wonderful creative artist.

Why just slandering Kishimoto but not those Smutty novel writers or doujinkas????

You know it's bad when your main female characters' goal is based around trying to build a romantic relation with a main male character

Like that dude had a wonderful dream of becoming an Hokage. But all he did was screaming, "Sasuke!!! Sasuke Sasuke!!!".

My point is Kishimoto always keeps one character's development to be revolved around another character. Naruto around Sasuke, Sasuke around Itachi, Obito around Rin... That's his way of writing. Gender has nothing to do here.

Anon, I think you are forgetting the basic facts here. Tsunade's original dream was to revolutionize the medical system in Konoha... And she did it successfully. And Tsunade literally carried Dan's and her brother Nawaki's dream to become an Hokage... So, it's very logical for her to see her boyfriend finally becoming an Hokage in a Tsukuyomi Dream.

Wasn't it enough for you that Kishimoto actually made Tsunade as a Hokage for 80% of the series??? Not just a simple Hokage, but a strongest Kage who took literal stabs from Madara and she was the only kage who saved all other kages by lending her chakra (eventhough her body was sliced into half) after Madara knocked them all out???

It was established from the first chapter that fourth Hokage saved the village from Kyuubi and he has some connection with Naruto....

If all the 4 Hokages' faces were carved onto that rock in as early as 1st chapter, I wonder how can the Author make Kushina into another Hokage??? Like how???

Tsunade is the Woman Hokage.... Mei is the Woman Mizukage who was shown to reform Kirigakure into a respectable nation... Granny Chiyo, a married woman was fighting A Robotic Monster at a ripe old age of 85...

I mean, No.... Some Women were given leadership position in this Manga... And Some prefer to be Housewife on their own choice... Kushina becoming Hokage has no base anywhere.

But Still

He made Kushina into a working Jounin along with Minato in Road to Ninja movie, A movie whose story was conceived and composed by Kishi himself.

If he could make Kushina as a working woman, Minato into a Dishwashing husband in a movie.... Where is Misogyny here????

Why do you badly want Hinata to have more scenes in a Gay Manga???? Like how does that helps SNS???? Gay media means A media that portrays Love and Relationship between 2 male characters... Kishimoto will do anything if that means that could prop up Naruto and Sasuke... Because this story is about them.

He created Sakura to compare and contrast Naruto's similar feelings towards Sasuke...

He created Obito to show how Naruto would've turned out had he lost Iruka and Sasuke...

Mario, a manga which was written by Kishimoto himself. He literally made Saori into the MVP of that manga... Like the story won't move if there is no Saori (AKA A female version of Sasuke)... But why nobody is appreciating his work???

Why everything has to be about Hinata and Sakura??? Because they are associated with the Main Characters??? So, A Woman gains her importance only through A Man... I just don't get this Logic.

Here's why I don't think Kishimoto is a Misogynistic Monster, this fandom portrays him to be.

1. He wrote Tsunade, a secondary side character to have a dream that has nothing to do with a Man... Fulfilled it successfully like a boss... Then carried his loved one's dream and truly became an Hokage. While Tsunade was fulfilling a dream after another, Jiraiya was wandering aimlessly... Kakashi explicitly told he doesn't have a dream.

A character to have her own arc... A character to have a solo fight with 2 main villains of this series... (Million times better written than Sakura and Hinata)

2. He wrote Konan, a secondary side character... Only woman Akatsuki member... Had a notable fight with the main villain of this series and almost killed him... (If only he wasn't an Uchiha... he would be dead already)... (She did more than what Hinata did in the entire series)

3. HE WROTE SAORI, A FEM VERSION OF SASUKE.

4. He never sexualized little girls... However he sexualized Sasuke and Sai though.

5. He never idolized Hinata as the ideal woman as the Dudebros wanks for her to be. However, he idolized Saori kind of woman in his works. Which shows he likes women to be strong.

6. His portrayal of women characters in Road to Ninja and Mario is worthy to be noted. Other than Hinata and Sakura, his portrayal of women characters in Naruto is pretty decent.

7. If Kishi made Sakura to feel inferior with Hinata's boobs... Then he also made Naruto to feel inferior with his short ding dong...

8. If Kishi made Kurenai's dad to instruct his daughter to bore him a Grandson, then he also made Hashirama to instruct his clansmen to promise on their Grandsons that they won't kill Madara. Meaning, It's a Pro Natalist comment irrespective of Gender.

9. A culture which promotes Marriage and to have kids... Tsunade remained single.

10. He literally made Shikamaru to have a draw with Temari in Chunin Exams... He made Temari to protect Shikamaru's ass in the Sasuke retrieval arc... Meaning, Shikamaru and Temari are equals. So, you are calling an Author as a misogynist who created Hetero Couples who are equals... Like DanTsunade, ShikaTema, Mario/Saori, Minato/Kushina (in RTN movie)????

If you want me to say Kishi is a Misogynist, then all the above 10 points shouldn't exist...

Kishimoto could've easily wrote Hinata to have more scenes like changing her clan and whatnot + A Big boobed bimbo + An Ideal Waifu whose only job is to satisfy Naruto + Naruto living happily with his beautiful but a bimbo wife... This version of Hinata's portrayal would have made me tag this author as a shitty misogynist...

But that's not the case...

Considering his positives cancels out the negatives... He should be deemed as a neutral instead of tagging him as Negative.

And hence, Kishimoto is an In Between.
