Follow me inside the wastelands - Arthur x Female Sole Survivor
This one will be a long fic, with a lot of chapters I already write the concepts, I don’t play as Nora in Fallout 4 since Nate for me is the real protagonist but I liked the ideas of this two I see  on some other fics on the fandom, so I wanted to do my own too
If you are very very very delighted with one fic and want a continuation I didn’t write or post you can donate me at least $5 bucks, most of this fics have next chapters I don’t finish because lack of motivation but hey a $5 is a $5, I see a few reviews and coments that fics that are abandoned months laters receive coments of wanting to know what happends next. Here it is, I finished my handling with you all, enjoy the fic
The first thing Maxson thought when Danse presented Nora to him…
Well isn’t this one a beauty?
Really impressive beauty, rare actually, caught his attention like it never did with a woman before.
But besides that, they didn’t talk much, in fact, they didn’t know much about each other.
She was always with Danse as he was her commander office, do task and missions with him, walk around, talk to him on Danse presence mostly…is not like they have events to know each other, the paladin was always around them, guiding her to be a perfect Brotherhood soldier
And she fulfilled everyone expectations, Danse, Ingram, Kells, Maxson…
The teleport machine to the institute? Heck yeah he supervised the whole construction and was around like it was his own masterpiece, but he had seen the woman work and fight for that idea to sucesfully work and bring results.
The infiltration to the institute? Her own brilliant work.
The data leack? Didn’t have any obligation, could just say she coulnt or that the device they gave her didn’t work to do big amounsts of copy, but she did it anyway.
Bringing back to the wastelands an amazing cientific old partner of the Brotherhood? Perfect charisma
Nora was a loyal Brotherhood soldier, Danse instructed her well to be what everyone needed and wanted, and she delivered it with amazing skills, outstanding the Paladin would say, and he would agree too
They knew each other from far, he was his boss, his supervisor, someone she received order and bring results but not much more so despite being Arthur pretty amazed by her habilities and had the curiosity to know her more that opportunity never came to be just because of how big the brotherhood and their organization was.
Well there was that one time…
He knew that on the lowest levels of the Prydwen the soldiers often made…little parties, and some some some times he would join, everybody received him well and didn’t threat him any different, at least at the party, at the other day it was a different story but in the party he was another more, and he was glad for that because he was almost one of the youngest people on that little reunions.
They chat, and drink, and play little silly games and he would enjoy that, no one would try to sneak a secret or try to buy a promotion or recognition, it was really a brotherhood he appreciated with all his heart.
But one time she was in one of this reunions and both were caught in the other gaze, multiple time, despite being sitted in opposite directions
Why she was looking at him? He was indeed looking at her but only because he caught her looking at him…and so several times.
Apparently that night he joined was particulary special because Nora and Danse together bring two sets of drinks called Vim they pick up from a place called Far Harbor so far away from the Commonwealth…slightly different from the Nuka Colas he was used to, different taste but same scent and some some some of that drinks have alcohol so everybody was woozy about it.
Danse and Nora were a good team, they make results and he can appreciate that a lot since they needed help constantly to advance, as far they were together he would not fear for their safety because together they do amazing.
If they have a baby it would turn on one of the strongest soldiers, perfect good clean with no radiation genes from her and also good genes from Danse, strong, tall and bulk.
For a moment he thought what if in some future they…join…together…such an amazing couple would be a great asset to the brotherhood units but that thought was interrupted again because he was feeling a gaze again. Nora was looking at him while drinking an alcohol Vim, sitting in a crate box, Danse was in a totally different place chatting with some friends of him so…he wasn’t around this time
The red light illuminating the place was hiding his blush as he as getting a bit aroused by the hungry gaze of the woman.
Altought he did nothing more than just looking back at her, locking their eyes together.
He didn’t know her much, never talked more than formalities and very planned responses, but can appreciate her beauty and value.
Skinny curved body, rumors says around she didn’t eat much because the fact that the food was kinda radiated didn’t make her exactly sick but it was just disgusting to the taste. He heard once at the dinning room that the woman preffered to drink Radaway that some Rad Sugar Bombs, for a moment he thinked that was weird but didn’t put much effort in a gossip, that would be rude.
It was difficult to see more on the dark and under the red lights, specially if she had a black suit but the way her legs crossed to be sitting intrigue him. Nora had a strong prescence, a luminous aura that cause things in people and he was getting aware of that
Arthur broke eye contact, took a bottle, open it, and made the same as her, stare into her eyes as he drinked, the woman finished his drink in one spit and stare at him, breathing in and out.
One shot of a alcohol bottle? Pretty impressive, even him wasn’t able to do that
As he went down, Nora approached him with a can of purified water, passing it, Arthur look up to her in the red lights amazed by how…attracted…he feeled to her strong presence.
-Drink water Elder or the headache is going to be a pain tomorrow –as she talked Arthur stare at her red painted lips and brown eyes with curled black hair.
She looked like a beautifull housewife from the old books, a true old American dream.
Trying to be subtle, he picked up the can, his fingers touch hers for a moment but instead of getting nerveous they both…stay…with confidence he look from her toes to head, scanning.
When he reach her face he saw she didn’t move, she noticed. Their fingers separate and the woman went back to sit at the crate box and look another place
That was all the interaction they had on the night, not so much later the woman join Danse on the chat with his friend and he left the party, but it was intriguing at least.
Knewing that the team of knight and paladin were so close broke his heart when he made the realization that…she had to execute him.
This was another test to her brilliant and loyalty.
He didn’t want to execute the paladin he knew from so long ago, nearly a good friend more than just a soldier to his cause but…he was a synth, everything the Brotherhood hated and despised, he had the obligation to set the example and do the right thing…not let an spy ran freely in the corridors of the Prydwen, not let a synth carry the sing of the Brotherhood on their chest, not let an abomination have the ranks and sacrifices of the cause…
He trusted in her to execute the mission, a great devotion to the cause was an inspiration to all.
It wasn’t easy tho, when he arrived on the vertibird with his team of guards to the listening post, even she would never admit it,  they were trying to scape together or at least place a lie but…she come to her senses, put the Brotherhood first, and serve herself loyal.
Maxson approached both at the exit of the station, she was nerveous, he was defeated.
First time he see a vulnerable face on her.
They tried to negociate with him, try to make Danse look good for all his time on service but it was useless, all the dawns playing chess in their reunions together wont make him soft, he was firm on that choice.
Farewell, friend.
-Danse please –she begged to him, grabbing his hand and giving a hard shake, the woman voice break as she started to cry, it was a really sad scene all made by his own choices and actions but he woulnt turn down the chance to exterminate a synth from the institute, it was his mission, the mission of the entire Brotherhood, if he failed, the Brotherhood would do it to.
-Its alright, we did our best, you convinced me that I was wrong to be ashamed of my true identity, whatever you decide know that im going to my grave with no anger and no regrets –his old friend smiled at Nora, who was sniffing trying to control her breathing and not burst in a desesperate cry.
Her eyes open, then turn down her head, still grabing Danse hand, it was useless, the man prefferd to die than fail the Brotherhood, he wouldn’t allow her to kill Maxson and run away together like they would peacefully do a few minutes ago. She bite her lip and looked at him, trying to say something.
-Danse i…
-Knight! –Arthur called raising his voice, then something snap at her and turn down the head again, letting the synth hand go.
That was the goodbye
-For the good of the Brotherhood…he needs to die…-said in a deep whisper with the voice broken, the synth completely surrender at his side, accepting his fate, Maxson would never admit this to anyone but he wanted to cry, such devotion and sacrifice for the army that took him as a son so many years ago to turn his back on him almost make him cry
Arthur didn’t want to look at that, the execution of one of his best friends, but he needed to swallow the sorrow and watch.
To not let her fail her mission.
To not let her threason the brotherhood.
To not let her fall in the charms of that abominations, infiltrating in peoples lives messing up with their heads, not let her fall at being alert and smart.
-In this moment im proud of you like im ever going to be –Danse salute her and went a few steps back, Árthur watching every moment, the synth put the knees on the floor and his hand on the back, head down looking at the ground.
Watching an execution was always hard, no matter who it was, a civilian, a criminal, a supermutant, a raider even…but the fact that he was carrying one of the brotherhood uniforms was heartbreaking for Arthur.
Even if he really wasn’t one of his brother he has been for many time.
It was a tense moment, she took a seconds to grab her arm and approatch him.
-Danse…-she whisper, trying to make him get in reason but…
-Ad Victoriam soldier –in the exact moment he said that, Nora blow his head with the laser pistol, she gasped loud and move a hand to close her mouth at seeing the horror, but after realizing what she done she jumped to the ground and went desesperatly to pick up his rolling head.
-Danse! –she screamed as she put a hand inside from the neck and started twisting it, confused the elder approached very carefully that she didn’t enter in a homicidal anger caused by the trauma of killing by her own hand and desition such a close partner…but he wanted to see, he didn’t understand.
What was with this animalistic behavior? Almost cannibal? She was crying and sobbing as wet flesh sounds appeared from the…cripped head…Arthur looked at the body for a second, headless.
Goodbye Paladin, synth or not, ill make someone burn your rest and give you a proper memorial recognition, you were right, you thought you were human and you choose to fight for the brotherhood like that.
It didn’t took long for Nora to find something inside, something sharp and hard, not…organic, it was a hard position to move the hand, she was blind and it was also stuck but after trying and trying hurting his own hands in the attempt…she took it, the synth component, it was there.
She didn’t doubt Danse or Maxson about it, but at least if he needed to die…better not be a mistake.
Arthur watched her blend, curl and cry on the ground, hugging the cripped head and…the synth component, he swallow saliva and turned back, this was…anguish…her feelings were staring to penetrate his hard temper and he cant loose it, he wasn’t allowed to loose his temper no matter what kind of situation…if he didn’t leave he would start crying over the loose of his old friend.
-Ill see you in the Prydwen to claim a new mission, knight –Arthur took a deep mouth of air and…started walking to the ventibird, not even offering her a ride, he couldn’t be seen crying by no one.
He walked in the dry and dead forest to the transport taking big breaths to suppress the need to cry.
At the Prydwen, he sent a squad to recover the body and…did give him a proper memorial after burning it, even if it woul be a great asset to the scribes and cientifics…no…not this one, even if his brothers despised him for being a synth his service would not be forgotten.
Nora in fact, came back to the Prydwen, after that display of sadness and desesperation he expected her to abandon and dismiss leaving the Commonwealth forever but…she was there, to ask for her next mission, with the holotags of Paladin Danse like she was supposed in the beginning to accomplish the task.
She was loyal to the Brotherhood, she would be there.
Not so long later she almost alone with barely her own forces and resources, destroyed the institute, and went recognized and promoted to sentinel, the hightest rank you can archieve in the brotherhood of steel.
Purely based on her results, preservation, and achivemts, the vault woman from 200 years ago turned on the first sentinel in this chapter of the brotherhood, one of the fews in the entire country all by her own sweat and tears.
And she was over there, around, working for the brotherhood
A year later that event she came to his office after scheduling a meeting, with a bucket 20lts of white paint, that impressed Arthur who didn’t understand what the hell was happening but still motherfucking impressive.
--Good morning Elder, me and the Minutemens clean one of the biggest Commonwealth hardware stores from a group of raiders that took it as a post for ambushing caravans and travelers for the tactic position and bussy roads on the wasteland everyday, a very needed route to move between settlements like Diamond City, Cambridge, Boston… we have resources for the next ten years in tools, paint, glues, scews, nails, gas, all kind of chemicals for different uses…
Arthur was indeed, impressed, but the experience talk for him before he can achieve the sentinel victory
-Biut theres more right?
Nora took a moment to calibrate her voice and speak, full confidence.
-As a minuteman general, as well as a Brotherhood sentinel, ask your collaboration with the new adquisition, the brotherhood now have a tremendous operational and good state base in a very important place between very important destinations with a lot of useful resources, I will ask in the name of both groups to…take control over the hardware store, use it as a new permanent base, put troops day and night there and give the control of the zone to the brotherhood, it will help near settlements to feel more secure and get out raiders by making them know that a new big order is there and they aren’t welcome.
Arthur took a big breath by the noise, she sounded so…clear…secure, firm and perfect…This was the kind of news he wanted to hear all the time, this was marvelous, excellent, a very big advance…
Something in his chest hit him hard.
The way she stand still, quiet and being all secure in this very moment…
-Near to Diamond City there are 3 raiders settlement and 2 supermutants if I recover right
-As long as goodneitborght, but I have plans for that place, they are no use and no harm to anyone right now, not us, not minutemen, not civilians, not anyone –Arthur raised an eyebrow, but trust her ideas.
-If we settledown in that new base we can take that groups out with no problem, secure the area and not let them return by placing adecuate protection, like patrols, turrets… -Nora nooded, but then Arthur got an idea that confused him – I know about your…non brotherhood past and  activities but why did you make this operation on your own?
-When you name me sentinel you and coronel Kells told me that I will now make my own projects and missions…and you all will follow my wisdom and choices with thrust –this time Arthur nooded, full of pride and exciment, when he named her sentinel that day he thought…that it was something she didn’t care or understand enough, that I was just anothyter thing that happened since her answer in that moment was so…dry and formal, almost practice, just formalism.
But it was meaningfull, and it give results.
This almost never happends, not with many soldiers, but he wanted to cry at feeling so overwhelmed, this…is what every general wants from their armys and she was giving him that moment.
Right now he was happy of fulfilling sucesfully his mission.
-That’s right, we will follow our sentinels to the end of the wolrd
-That’s why I want to make this statement –now, her voice wanted to keep his attention, and he will, looking at her eyes directly – I did not make this operation to put the brotherhood in a compromise of taking with no option this new base, this is optional, you can take the base as a gift and exploit it…but I also want collaboration
-State your point sentinel.
-I will not place a number or a bid, but the minutemen, and I, for my mens, want collaboration, we want to work out the resources of the hardware store and use them.
Deal, collaboration, with an army ruled by a brotherhood sentinel.
-Very well, sentinel, you own this victory, the brotherhood is going to capture that point, secure it, defend it, equip it and manage it, that point and the locations around, no problem, we can share and trade with the minutemens as most you can
-Also have to use the facilities, theres a lot of industrial machine…like carpenter tools and hydraulic presses and ovens…
-No problem –Arthur could swear he was drooling over the possibilities that just one woman, one soldier, gave the brotherhood with this movement.
-We also want to secure and liberate the roads and paths to the settlements around so the trade and traffic will go smooth to help that people
-It’s a good idea, sometimes I send my own ventibirds to fly up brahamns for free so traders can move from one point to another safely without raiders to menace them, but its expensive and the gas is hard to get to use in on that
-I knew it Elder, that’s way I wanted to capture this post too
Arthur wouldn’t reprimand her at all, since after all she was sentinel and almost didn’t have the authority to defy her but the question wouldn’t harm, he raised an eyebrow and move his hands over his back, stepping in and walking in her direction, this time  she moved  a bit surprised for the sludden change and for some reason the reaction in her beauty looks…adorable.
-May I ask where did you get the funds and resources for this operations?
Nora was confused –funds? Like caps?
-Yeah, that equipment and…
-My minutemens are not mercenarys they are just regular people –now Arthur is confused now –organized group of just civilians
-But the guns and the armor…
-It was all about the ambush and the plan we take them out there, althought I must admit i…used laser bullets from the brotherhood deposits but it was necessary for the operation, I didn’t want to blow the place down with fatmans to kill all the raiders, and the use of regular bullets could cause explosions since theres so much chemical products around….-Nora had the confidence to not get in problem because she was well…a freacking sentinel and she was giving the big offer to the brotherhood anyway, everyone was winning.
-I must say, just for protocol that I will be asking for a investigation about…the founds for you operation, but I also must say thank you very much sentinel Nora, it’s a honor to be brothers together
Nora breath out, not nerveous, they weren’t going to find much more than just departures of laser weapons and laser bullets, same with gammas, even the armors she and the minutemens managed to get it, must admit it was very suspicious and small ethic to steal from the brotherhood to plan a raid with the minutements but that just the way thing developed.
And she was a war hero for destroying the Institute, she deserved it.
-So be it
-Why you didn’t ask the brotherhood for this operation? You are a sentinel, we have the obligation to follow you,  as a sentinel you have the freedom to move on your own as long it is for the good of the brotherhood but I never heard…this is a surprise –Arthur laughted- a very amazing surprise
-Since the beginning the minutemens and i…do things –the woman didn’t understand the question, but he did understand her answer- do things for the people, for everyone
Arthur didn’t expect that answer, and for some reason it moved something inside his chest.
He didn’t know her full story, is true, but right now it sounded…magical
Who was this non radiated goddess of destruction that help people around with a army of apparently angels that doesn’t need caps?
-There wasn’t any brotherhood brothers involved?
-Oh, there are four, they were the only ones with me included with a power armor the rest…
The elder breathed, and then feel brave, he had a lot of emotions in his chest right now, it didn’t have any sense, his logical part asked him for a investigation and how the hell everything sounded so perfect almost like a trap the other one was delighted with the news with her with the results…
He raised a finger and put it over his lips with a chill smile looking directly at her eyes.
-Sentinel, this are all wonderfull news, why don’t we discuss them at a dinner tonight? I believe everything can wait a few ours more
He will investigate, and search, and ask, and validate her words and success.
Arthur was no fool.
-Ehhh sure…-she whisper, nooding without understanding much.
He waited for things so be that way of course, he wanted to be positive too.
Something inside him wanted to believe in her.
-Great, my mans will look after you around 8pm, we can talk about this victory while enjoing a meal.

Bless me with your OTP!
I know everyone’s expecting Noranse, but I’m going to shake things up with Nara because why not! I love em just as much and they have an interesting dynamic! ;D
I was tagged by the amazing @slothssassin !
Tagging; @eluvisen, @mrninjapineapple, @beckiboos, @ariejul, @sociallyacceptablemadness, @lothrilzul, @val-rampage, @solesurvivorkat , @metalforhands, @mars-colony, @lookbluesoup , @tarberrymentats @marvilus73  and anybody else who’d like to do this! ♥
Do they fight often? If so, what is their dynamic like?
Nora and Nate often bicker over little things, though they’re usually harmless and end fairly quickly. However, when they have real fights, things can escalate and their home become a place of glacial silence and tension. The cause of these fights usually boils down to three things; Nate’s alcoholism, Nora’s rigid morals vs Nate’s social circle, and Nate’s perfectionism.
They both have the bad habit of bottling things up and not talking to each other, silently stewing until they calm down. They try to never sleep on an argument however, and always tried discussing things before they fall asleep.
The only exceptions were when Nate would get too riled up and do what he’s done throughout his life; run away and seek solace at the bottom of a bottle. When he goes sober, Nate walks their dog and has a few smokes to clear his head instead.
Angry Nora prefers to cook out her rage, taking it out on the chopping board loudly enough that Nate instantly knows when she’s angry. The cooking is still delicious and edible, and they often talk out their frustrations over the food -- if Nora has calmed down. If she hasn’t, she’ll comfort eat all the sweets she made herself!
Who is the most skeptical of the two?
This is a tough one -- neither of them are skeptics, really. Nate has more of a feel for people however, because he’s friends with all types. He knows there’s good and beauty in the world, but he’s also seen the worst of humanity, which really comes out in his PTSD following Anchorage. I’d say Nate’s the most skeptical, though post-war Nora definitely has a reality check and hardened up, although she still lucked out by meeting some of the good people in the sea of bad.
Who would be most likely to suggest a night of dancing?
Nate 1000% -- he’s the guy who knows everybody and can queue jump like a V.I.P! Nora’s a bit more shy and awkward (until she’s had a few drinks) and would only join Nate sometimes, though she’d head home fairly early. When out on his own however, Nate would be out until the morning rush hour, typically heading to bars long after their closing hours and hanging with the special regulars. He also loves to dance and sing so it was always a great time for him!
If they’re alone or in a quiet venue however, Nora’s always up for a quiet slow dance between them.
What would they do if the other was injured in battle?
Nate would fall back on his military training, dealing with immediate threats before tending to Nora. He’d then prioritise her safety over the mission and work to cut them a path out of there.
Pre-war Nora wouldn’t know what to do (in the battle, or first aid wise), but post-war with Brotherhood training, Nora would do the same, patching him best she knew how and retreating to the nearest medics ASAP.
Unless innocents were endangered, they would stay by the others bedside until they were stable.
How do their fighting styles complement each other?
Nate and Nora adopted completely different styles -- Nate prefers combat armour and moving stealthy but fast. He’s great with assault rifles, though he’s always shone when it comes to CQC being a big guy. He moves a lot faster than most can guess and with lethal precision, though if he can drop enemies at a distance, he prefers it.
Nora, on the other hand, was trained by Danse. She adores power armour and feels near unstoppable in it. Whereas Nate would rather slip in, Nora would rather kick the door down and bulldoze any in front of her, followed up by ashing with her rifle.
In battle, the pair function rather poorly because Nate becomes obsessed with Nora’s safety to the detriment of both of them. They could work well together with Nora being the big, steely distraction allowing Nate an opening to flank enemies, but Nate’s fear clouds his judgement and all he sees is his wife in danger.
Do they want children? Does it frighten them? How many do they want?
They both want children and to have a family together. Nora would be happy with two children as being an only child she felt lonely. Nate would be happy with two, though he would love to have more as he has a very strong paternal instinct.
Pre-war, Nate had a very strong fear that he would fail as a father due to his mother’s influence, and lack of a caring father in his own life. He’s also petrified that his mother would find out and want to come into his children’s lives, which he would not stand for.
Nora worried about being a good parent too, but her fears weren’t so deeply rooted as Nate’s because she knew she had her family support network to fall back on.
Post war, they’re both frightened at the thought of raising their children in such a dangerous world, but it also serves as a powerful drive for the pair of them to make it as secure for their children as possible, that they might enjoy a childhood in spite of the threats. Chances are they’d also adopt alongside having their own child if they met an orphan who needed them.
What happened when they took them home to their families? If their families aren’t in the picture anymore, how do they feel about it?
Nate has complete no contact with his family. His situation is complicated to say the least. His mother fell pregnant out of wedlock and had a hasty wedding to a man who was clearly not Nate’s father -- and his mother played cruel games with that fact, preventing Nate’s (secretly step) father from ever bonding with him. As a result, he and his ‘father’ were more awkward housemates than family who were often pitted against each other.
Nate’s younger half-brother made more of an effort, but as he was the ‘favoured child,’ Nate harboured a lot jealousy and bitterness towards him that poisoned their relationship. It grew worse when their mother had them competing, and suddenly began fawning over Nate when he joined the military.
His mother he hates like nothing else. Part of him still craves her love and validation, but he fears that she’ll poison his new family with her toxicity and knows her affection is born purely from what she stands to gain.
His mother comes from old money, and her family disowned her after her shock pregnancy and sudden marriage to a ‘lesser class.’ Initially they pretended ‘the bastard’ didn’t exist, but when he joined the military he suddenly ‘made them proud’ and his lack of a known father was suddenly a boon because his father might not be so common after all -- and the family wanted a male heir who would take their name and continue the lineage. Because of this, his mother saw Nate as her meal ticket back to the good life and the family bank account and suddenly cared about him again.
She did meet Nora once, wheedling Nate’s latest home from one of his friends -- but it wasn’t for long. Nora was wary of her following what Nate had confided, and he came home partway through her visit. He exploded and chased her from the building, feeling furious and terrified. Shortly after, he and Nora moved to Sanctuary Hills, telling no one but Nora’s family where they had gone.
Nora’s family loved Nate immediately. He’s a natural charmer, and as a patriotic soldier her parents warmed to him quickly -- it also helped that neither Nate or Nora mentioned he was couch surfing and had no address of his own at the time.
Evangeline, Nora’s cousin and BFF, liked Nate but was also initially wary that he might be a player and she, as a police officer, was less than thrilled at his many murky contacts and friends. Seeing his genuine adoration and loyalty for Nora as well as his good heart, she was won over, which eased his welcome into the extended family.
He now attends every family gathering and is honestly sometimes more enthusiastic about them than Nora.
Nate adores Nora’s family and feels honoured and touched that they accepted him and go out of their way to make him part of the unit. He finally feels like he has a real family with them.
How does each person show affection towards the other?
They’re both casually intimate with each other - little touches, embraces, kisses and snuggles. When out in public, they’ll walk close with their fingers entwined and when they sit they naturally lean into each other. There’s thoughtful gifts between them, and, especially on Nate’s part, big romantic gestures.
Who cries the most? Who is better at comforting?
Nate cries more than Nora -- he’s suffered a lot in his life, and is typically more open with his emotions. When Nora cries, she always tries to hide it while Nate struggles to. Nate comforts through hugs and gentle pep-talks, whilst Nora comforts much the same way, but with added comfort food. When the time’s right, they’ll attempt to distract whoever they’re comforting with something fun -- Nate’s likely to offer to talk over drinks, or go for a drive when he’s sober, while Nora will suggest movies and more food til they’re ready to talk or cheered up.
Who is the bigger flirt?
Nate. Nora’s quite shy about flirting and a hopeless romantic. Nate however is a casual flirt -- he’d never stray from Nora or cheat on her, but he’s naturally flirtatious and can’t help himself. He loves making people feel beautiful and confident, and sometimes it doesn’t quite register that he might have gone too far and led someone on. It’s definitely led to problems, and at times Nora’s gotten jealous and angry at him over it, though she’s come to the understanding that that’s just who he is - -and at the end of the day, it’s her he loves and comes home to, no one else. No one else. >:3

3 OC Facts
Tagged by @wastelandwandererstuff and @marvilus73 \o/ If you’re reading this and haven’t done it yet consider yourself tagged D:< I want to see ur ocs.
AND I HOPE YOU GUYS ARENT TIRED OF NATE YET CAUSE HE’S THE ONLY DEVELOPED OC I’VE GOT ON HERE RN LOL
Tumblr media
1. Nate and Piper have a secret “code”
Which was particularly important while he was working as an undercover Agent in the Institute, and couldn’t always get messages to the Railroad himself. Specific words and phrases stand in for simple facts or questions, and to an onlooker (read: Institute spies) they would appear to be having a casual conversation. One phrase that got repeated a lot back then was “I’m glad for the snow.” which meant “I love you.”
2. Nate never joined the Brotherhood
Instead, he managed to convince them to work with the Minutemen by arguing that the Brotherhood was not trusted in the Commonwealth, and if they needed food/cooperation/etc from the locals, being seen in good standing with the Minutemen was tactically beneficial. “Work with” is used loosely, but the alliance got Nate access to the Prydwen. When he manages to infiltrate the Institute, he and his militia suddenly become extremely interesting to Arthur. Go figure. Danse and Nate end up traveling together as part of joint operations between the two militaries and bond that way! I am also just attached to the idea of Arthur overtly refusing to call Nate ‘General’ because that would mean acknowledging Nate as an authority and the Minutemen as a military organization instead of a bunch of rednecks with lasers
3. Longfellow is a father figure for Nate
And Nate respects the grumpy stick more than he ever did his actual old man. It’s mutual, Longfellow sees Nate as the son he never had. They’re both talented outdoorsmen and will sing Irish folk songs together on the road. On occasion Longfellow’s been convinced to take Minutemen up to Far Harbor for lessons in tracking and fieldcraft. Usually they come back in one piece.

won’t you meet me at the gates to the garden
Little snippet: Nora and the gang, at the Castle, Halloween night. ~1500 words, and a lot of that is quotes from The Canterville Ghost.
Happy Halloween, my darlings.
They can’t celebrate Halloween the way she remembers it, back in Sanctuary Hills, or before that, when she was a kid.  Dressing up in fancy store-bought costumes, based on TV and movie and radio superheroes: Grognak, the Silver Shroud, Mistress of Mystery.  Nora remembers going as a cat, a cowgirl, a witch, a hippie in thrift-store bell-bottom jeans and a peace sign painted on her cheek.  More nervous than excited, holding out a pillowcase or a pail for a neighbor to drop something into.
She didn’t like how you weren’t supposed to say please.  Trick or treat, as if you might do something bad to people who didn’t placate you with candy.  She didn’t like that idea as a kid.  Still doesn’t.
Now Shaun’s the only kid around of trick-or-treating age, and he’s not the type to enjoy filling a sack with sugary treats at others’ expense, anyway.  He’d rather run around distributing any available treats to his brothers and sisters, and the other settlers at the Castle.
He’s enough like Nora that he doesn’t much like the idea of disguises, either.  Monsters are too real, these days, to take pleasure in the dressing-up of someone dear and familiar as someone, or something, less so.
And the dead are-- well, Nora doesn't believe in ghosts, not that way, not seasonally.  If Nate can be here with her, and if there isn't a good reason why he shouldn't be, then he's here a lot more often than once a year.
(She hopes he isn't.  She hopes he's with Shaun-- their first Shaun-- in heaven.  He believed in heaven, completely.  She's about fifty-fifty.  But if there is one, Nate's definitely there, and she can't imagine whoever's in charge wouldn't let him have his son with him.)
This time of year, she thinks more about the war, the bombs falling.  Ghosts, kind of, but not the fun, spooky kind.
But this year they’ve carved jack-o-lanterns, out of gourds and winter melons, scooping out the seeds to roast with a little salt and a little oil, carving cheerful, jagged-toothed moon faces and setting candles inside.  She was just going to show Shaun how, but then everyone else wanted to join in too.  After tonight-- after a night of bright faces all over the courtyard, grinning and spilling light-- she'll gather the gourds and melons and cook them, so the meat of them doesn't go to waste.
It's Dee's turn to read aloud tonight, and he’s picked Oscar Wilde's "The Canterville Ghost.”  He’s reading outside instead of in the library, so they can all enjoy the jack-o-lanterns, for the little time they last.  The night's cool, but not cold; her kids curl against each other, for warmth and for love.  Shaun sits in her lap. Hancock's arm rests on her shoulders.  A real lantern, not a jack-o- one, lights the page, and Dee's face, in that spooky, atmospheric campfire way.  Dee has such a great voice for reading.  It's low and gravelly and dramatic as he reads,
"Right in front of him he saw, in the wan moonlight, an old man of terrible aspect. His eyes were as red burning coals; long grey hair fell over his shoulders in matted coils; his garments, which were of antique cut, were soiled and ragged, and from his wrists and ankles hung heavy manacles and rusty gyves.
"'My dear sir,' said Mr. Otis"-- Dee's voice switches registers, turns prim and nasal, so that everyone's laughing even before he goes on-- "'I really must insist on your oiling those chains, and have brought you for that purpose a small bottle of Tammany Rising Sun Lubricator. It is said to be completely efficacious upon one application, and there are several testimonials to that effect on the wrapper. I shall leave it here for you by the bedroom candles, and will be happy to supply you with more, should you require it.'"
Dee switches back to the dramatic voice to continue, "For a moment the Canterville ghost stood quite motionless in natural indignation; then, dashing the bottle violently upon the polished floor, he fled down the corridor, uttering hollow groans, and emitting a ghastly green light. Just, however, as he reached the top of the great oak staircase, a door was flung open, two little white-robed figures appeared, and a large pillow whizzed past his head! There was evidently no time to be lost, so, hastily adopting the Fourth dimension of Space as a means of escape, he vanished through the wainscoting, leaned up against a moonbeam to recover his breath, and began to try and realize his position. Never, in a brilliant and uninterrupted career of three hundred years, had he been so grossly insulted."
Shaun is having a fit of the giggles in her lap, struggling to breathe.  Everyone's laughing, as Dee keeps reading, about the family that just refuses to be scared.
"He laughed his most horrible laugh," Dee reads, "till the old vaulted roof rang and rang again, but hardly had the fearful echo died away when a door opened, and Mrs. Otis came out in a light blue dressing-gown. 'I am afraid you are far from well,' she said, 'and have brought you a bottle of Doctor Dobell's tincture. If it is indigestion, you will find it a most excellent remedy.''
"Oh my God," says Victoria, laughing.  "It's Mom!"
Even Dee cracks up at that, and loses his place for a second.  Nora laughs, breathless with happiness, with her family around her, in the darkness that makes the flickering golden light so incredibly lovely.
The story takes a sadder, sweeter turn towards the end, when the daughter of the family befriends the ghost.  Dee's voice goes soft, gentle, when he does her voice:
"'I am so sorry for you,' she said, 'but my brothers are going back to Eton to-morrow, and then, if you behave yourself, no one will annoy you.'
"'It is absurd asking me to behave myself,' he answered, looking round in astonishment at the pretty little girl who had ventured to address him, 'quite absurd. I must rattle my chains, and groan through keyholes, and walk about at night, if that is what you mean. It is my only reason for existing.'
"'It is no reason at all for existing, and you know you have been very wicked.'"
"That sounds like Emily," says Michael, and everyone laughs again, and the story stays funny for a bit, until Dee's voice, his gruff rusty ghost-voice, changes:
"Far away beyond the pine-woods, there is a little garden. There the grass grows long and deep, there are the great white stars of the hemlock flower, there the nightingale sings all night long. All night long he sings, and the cold crystal moon looks down, and the yew-tree spreads out its giant arms over the sleepers.
"Virginia's eyes grew dim with tears, and she hid her face in her hands.
"'You mean the Garden of Death,' she whispered.
"'Yes, death. Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one's head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday, and no to-morrow. To forget time, to forget life, to be at peace. You can help me. You can open for me the portals of death's house, for love is always with you, and love is stronger than death is.'"
Nora's eyes are stinging, now.  It's Dee's voice, the tenderness and the pain in it, the yearning.
He reads on, and little Virginia bravely helps the wicked old ghost be laid to rest, and everyone lives-- or dies-- happily ever after, and everyone is quiet for a bit.  Shaun's asleep, slumped on Nora's arm and chest.
Nora's heart is full, overflowing.  He made me see what Life is, and what Death signifies, and why Love is stronger than both.
Max says, "Good stuff.  Good pick, Dee."
Dee shuts the book, as everyone murmurs agreement, and says, "Thanks.  I thought, you know-- I kinda forgot about all that heavy stuff, there at the end."
Cog says, "It was funny.  It was good."
"Thank you, Dee," says Danse gravely.
Dee waves them off.  "Yeah, OK.  Bedtime.  For people that sleep.  Look, 2.0's already out."
The night rustles and creaks with everyone's rising, flashes as they move through light and dark.
Nora stays still the longest, Shaun breathing in her lap.  Wondering, or imagining.
She isn’t afraid.  If they're here, the beloved dead, called by her longing, or by the thinness of the veil tonight, then they belong here, just outside this circle, making the dark gentle for the living.
And if they're not--
(Emily’s voice, remembered: Sleep is a sweetness, so I hear it said.)
Someday she'll be with them, wherever they are.
But no hurry.
"Here, ma'am," says Michael, reaching down.  "I'll carry Shaun to bed."
She shifts, lifts her smallest son towards her tallest, feels her husband's hand on her back, as Michael lifts Shaun's sleepy weight from her, as she begins to rise.

Sorry you are sick! I hope that you feel better!! For your Fallout 4 stuff: Do your characters follow the linear path the game sets up? For instance if you were to write your characters story out, is there any character that doesn't meet the Railroad to get the courser ship examined? Or something similar to that kind of "canon" divergence.
HI anon! Thanks for the well-wishes! And buckle up cuz i love talking about my OCs.For those who are interested: I am in the ( Extremely S L O W, seriously don’t expect updates very often) process of writing out Aubrey’s playthrough on Archive of Our Own here.Additional one-shots that occur in Aubrey’s universe but don’t directly pertain to her story can be found in the COTW Snapshots series hereBecause the plot of Fallout 4 is fairly cut and dry, I was limited in my character building.  As such, all of my characters are connected in the Pre-War world.  Nate and Aubrey are husband and wife, as are Nora (Nate’s sister) and Zachary (Nate’s squadmate in the Army).  Derek is a close friend of Aubrey’s and is Shaun’s godfather.Nate and Aubrey both follow the story line as presented and told by Bethesda.  Nate of course follows the Railroad questline, while Aubrey follows the Minutemen.  Well. Mostly. In my above mentioned fanfiction, rather than her making the decision to storm and destroy the Institute with the Minutemen, she attempts to try a hostile takeover and ala Courier 6 with Big MT, reintroduce the technologies the Institute had developed back into the Commonwealth.  This plan fails when the SRB and some other scientists decide “If we can’t hoard it, no one can have it” and blow themselves up.  Of course, there’s no way for this to occur in game aside my saying it did.Nora was my first foray into canon divergence from the beginning of the game.  Instead of being Shaun’s mother, Nora was Nate’s sister who was staying with Nate and Aubrey when the bombs dropped.  She was also pregnant, and through the power of LooksMenu, CBBE/Bodyslide, and Start Me Up on the Nexus, I was able to get fairly close to that in my gameplay.Zachary was a little harder to come up with, because fpr me, it was difficult creating a character that both originated in the Pre-War world, and would join the Brotherhood and become the Overboss, but I worked it out with him being Nora’s unstable and abusive husband.Derek’s character was originally created for the sole purpose of romancing Paladin Danse.  I wanted to include a bit more diversity in my OCs as well, seeing as Nate, Nora, and Zachary are all white.  Aubrey is mixed race, with her mother being Hispanic and her father being white( though I’ll admit that this was retconned in after staring at her character design with my friends one night.)  Thus Derek’s character design and backstory was solidified with him being a black gay man who was close friends with Aubrey and Nate and was made Shaun’s godfather. Wow I ended up rambling about that for a while....Hope that answers your questions, anon!

⭐ favorite foods for Alice :o?
Honestly,I don’t see her as someone that has ‘that favorite’ thing they could eat every day of the year! She just sorta goes with it…(made deciding on where to go eat on a night out a little bit easier for Nate :p)
Buuuut, she has a huge sweet tooth (even though she’d never admit it in front of anyone hah) anything that was vegan and had dark chocolate in it was her thing!Danse once found a bar of dark chocolate in the commonwealth and she almost freaked out.So when she found out he lived for those fancy lads snack cakes,it just ended up being the both of them taking a break, sitting down,Danse eating the cakes and Alice eating that dark chocolate bar like her life depended on it 🍫(Just let that image get into your head hahah)

I know you said Ahnzo, Nate or Alessa, buuut what about Danse? Or Hancock for the spelling meme?
Name Ask
I’ll do both!! Thank you.
A/N: These are my own personal headcanons and not in anyway meant to infringe on anyone else’s ideas.
Danse
D: How do they react to being flirted with?
Super awkward. Or it goes completely over his head. His memories of Cutler were real enough to him, and was extremely close to him. When in the Capital Wasteland he had some fellow children say they liked him and he’d be completely oblivious to it and he’d think that meant he was a good friend.
Being a soldier he’s just too focused to really even begin to think about someone flirting with him. He isn’t interested in such a relationship, and would normally just brush off any flirting or interactions with a partner.
Once he actually realizes someone is serious with their intentions and actually flat out said they are interested in him, he gets extremely flustered and speechless and makes some awkward excuse and walks away and hides in a corner criticizing himself for not reacting like he should have.
It requires lots of patience and understanding to get past his awkwardness.
A: What are/were this character’s best subjects in school?
Due to his dialogue at Starlight Drive-In and that one Ampitheater, I feel Danse would’ve been good at the fine arts in school.
Since as far as I know he never really had a formal education according to his memories.
But if he was placed into a school environment, I feel he’d excel at music and other forms of the arts. He has an interest in them and I feel this would help him develop such a talent in these areas.
N: What do they eat for breakfast?
Danse is a hearty strong breakfast kind of person. Lots of protein is needed to keep up his strength for wearing all that armor all the damn time ;)
S: How stealthy are they?
Very. He’s better at stealth in his power armor than fucking Dogmeat.
E: How are they with children?
Danse is awkward but great with children. He probably doesn’t know how to treat them as actual children so he tries to order them around (within reason). But after some time he is a great role model and a wonderful (potential?) father to any kids.
Hancock
H: What is their deadly sin?
I would have to say gluttony. He over indulges in a lot of things, mostly chems and personal pleasures.
A: What are/were this character’s best subjects in school?
Debate or Sociology. He’s good at discussing and fighting for the rights of the people and is willing to help them foster and grow.
N: What do they eat for breakfast?
Chems and whiskey.
C: Can they swim well?
He probably could if he wanted to, or can at least for survival. But he hates the water so he refuses to travel through it, and insists on going around.
O: What would it take to break them?
Having to watch the things he protects, fight for, help empower, die and fade away into nothing. Or one big one would have to be seeing someone he cared about killed or abused in some way. After what he’s gone through with the ghouls and Diamond City and the families in Goodneighbor with Vic, I feel he wouldn’t be able to go through that again.
C: Repeat - How do they sleep?
Hancock is the kind to hog the bed and sprawl out his entire body to cover every inch of a king sized bed. If he is sharing a bed with someone, he’ll be one to hit or kick the other person in his sleep because he’s preoccupied with being a bed hog.
K: How do you know when you’ve upset them?
He doesn’t ever hold back when he’s pissed off so he will be blunt and tell you to your face. He doesn’t beat around the bush, doesn’t use useless metaphors or examples. He goes straight to the point and gets it all out in the open.

Fallout OC Interview!
Thank you so much for creating this and tagging me @robobrainmurdermysterytheatre you are a peach!
Rules:
1) Choose an OC
2) Answer questions as that OC
3) Tag 5 people to do the same
I’ll tag @nuclearmu5hroom @pistachiozombie @red-flare-art @free-hugs-for-ghouls @juliannahandart no obligation, only if ya wanna
1)      What is your name? Well, most everyone calls me Wraith… or I guess I should say I have everyone call me Wraith. My parents named me after my dad, Philip and my mom’s middle name Lynn, so Philippa Lynn Wolf. When I married Nate, I changed my last name to his; Keita-Johnson. So all together; Philippa Lynn Keita-Johnson. First fuck-nut who calls me Pippa will wish they’re dead.
2)      How old are you? *sighs* Creeping up on two hundred forty…
3)      What do you look like? You know what a brown kiwi bird is?
4)      Where are you from? Where do you live now? My parents were from the Midwest Commonwealth. The mitten. *laughs* We moved around a lot… spent a few years in the Columbia ‘wealth… Now I live just north of Boston, in a Minutemen settlement called Sanctuary.
5)      What was your childhood like? It wasn’t bad, honestly. I had a really good relationship with both my parents and my… adopted? Yeah, let’s say adopted, brother named Bartholomew.
6)      What groups are you friendly with? Are you allied with any factions? I’m the general of the Minutemen and a former Heavy Agent with the Railroad.
7)      Tell me about your best friend. *sucks in air over teeth* Welp… is it possible to be best friends with someone when you don’t know their real name? …I…we… next question, please.
8)      Do you have a family? Tell me about them! I have a habit of picking up strays so yeah, my family is pretty big. *laughs* I’ve got like, a dozen brothers and sisters from other mothers and misters, a grandson, a bunch of four-legged kids… BIG family!
9)      What about a partner or partners? MacCready and Hancock are my boyfriends. It didn’t seem right to make them pick each other or me, ya know? *attempts to waggle eyebrows suggestively*
10)   Who are your enemies, and why? Anyone who would hurt innocent people. ‘People’ includes ghouls and synths, by the way. You know what? People are anyone who is just trying to live their lives! *stands up and starts gesticulating excitedly* So, if you’re a super mutant, or a, I don’t fucking know, an intelligent deathclaw and you’re just trying to make it in this ridiculously dangerous… oh… sorry. Umm… I don’t like shitty, mean mother-fuckers. So, yeah…
11)   Have you ever heard of The Brotherhood of Steel? What do you think about them? I love Danse. I kinda stole-adopted him. *laughs* The rest… They have the capacity to do great good for folks. They… ultimately fail to see that people are what they should be saving technology for not from. Their definition of ‘people’ needs work too.
12)   What about The Enclave? Maybe Mac mentioned them but I really don’t know…
13)   How do feel about Super Mutants? I love Strong! He’s my big green monster! As for the others… I feel sorry for them. Honestly. That being said I cannot allow them to hurt anyone.
14)   What’s the craziest fight you’ve ever been in? Oh damn… that’s hard to say. I have this bad habit of going full berserker when I fight… I don’t remember stuff and will start throwing shit… and people… and pieces of people… Just recently I fought a woman who was possessed by an alien artifact. She had telekinetic powers and was floating and had a bunch of crap flying all around her like a shield, ya know? Anyway, I threw some beds at her. It was unreal. Sad too.
15)   Have you ever fought a Deathclaw? *rolls eyes* Who hasn’t, amiright? I don’t really like to though; they are just animals after all.
16)   Do you like fighting? I like Judo and Jiu Jitsu. I like practicing the martial arts. I like target shooting with Mac. I don’t ever like to hurt anyone or anything but I’m not so naïve as to believe that I can save others without hurting others. Does that make sense?
17)   What’s your weapon of choice? Judo chop! Knives are fun too. I’ve never been great with guns but Mac has helped me a lot.
18)   How do you survive? Your wits, your charm, your skills, brute force, some combination? (a.k.a. what’s your S.P.E.C.I.A.L?) My strength is… well let’s just say it’s higher than… it’s high. Outside of that, when I took the test to enter the Marines my base S.P.E.C.I.A.L, starting at Perception,  was four, four, three, six, seven and my luck was one *groans*. Having low luck and charisma kinda bites but I can usually think my way out of stuff. If that doesn’t work I’ll just lose my shit and start throwing furniture. *sighs*
19)   Have you ever been in a vault? What do you think about them? I’m the sole survivor of vault one eleven. Vault-Tec is madness. Pure and simple.
20)   How do you beat all the radiation around here? Has it affected you? I had run-ins with Vault-Tec even before the War. I think they had their evil eye on me as soon as I joined the military. After the car accident that killed my parents, they ‘helped’ with my hospital stay. I’m also pretty fucking sure they messed around with my genes. My augmented strength and rad resistance, not to mention my longevity, are the results of their mad-scientist bullshit. I’m ghoulish. I can withstand quite a bit more rads than the average human and I even heal a small amount from them.
21)   What’s your favorite wasteland critter? I wish mole rats weren’t so interested in biting my face off… they’re kinda cute, ya know?
22)   What’s your least favorite wasteland critter? Bloodworms. Gross.
23)   How do you feel about robots? You know I love Codsworth! KL-E-O, P.A.M and Ada are good friends. Well, as much as P.A.M is anyone’s friend. Robots are people too.
24)   How many caps do you have on you right now? Zero. They make too much noise and slow me down. Mac always carries them for me. I trust him.
25)   Nuka Cola or Sunset Sarsaparilla? Nuka Cola! Quantums up!
26)   Do you do chems? Not recreationally. I don’t have a problem with recreational use, so long as it doesn’t interfere with whatever it is I’m trying to accomplish, you feel me? *tries to mimic Hancock’s voice: fails miserably*
27)   Do you ever think about the Pre-War world? Not as much as I used to. I’ve made so many friends, reconnected with some old and fallen in love… I’m trying to live in the present as much as possible. Gotta keep moving forward.
28)   What’s your deepest regret? What would you do differently? Father and Maxson. I…  I couldn’t get through to them… *sniffles* next question, please.
29)   What’s your biggest achievement? Or what do you hope to achieve? I’m proud of the Minutemen settlements. I’m happy to have been a part of their comeback story. I hope to expand and make safe trade routes and farming possible for as far as we can safely and efficiently reach. For those who would have us of course; not interested in any tyrannical bullshit.
30)   What do you want for the future? For yourself? Your friends? The world? I want what anyone wants. Peace and love, friends and neighbors. Peace and love.
