Being an Elf and falling in love with Thorin
Tumblr media
Headcanons below the cut!
When Gandalf had first summoned you, it wasn't a very easy decision to make.
Being a Sindar elf yourself, the choice of having to derail from your own beliefs bruised your ego... especially since you were entrusted with overseeing Thorin and his company.
"My dear (Y/N)," Gandalf sighed, "I can not trust any other elf with such an arduous task. I know you are capable of setting aside your prejudices and aiding these dwarves."
"You saved my life once from the Uruk-hais. I am indebted to you for that, Gandalf. But I believe that this will be the one time I shall repay you for your kindness in this manner. Do not expect more from me." You muttered with a bitter tone.
"I do not plan on it." Gandalf reassured you.
When you first met the company under Bilbo's roof, there was silence. An eerie amount of silence.
The hobbit before you seemed enchanted by your presence.
You learned his name was Bilbo; he was the most sensible out of the bunch at the moment.
Your eyes traveled across the room and landed on Thorin, who had a nasty scowl on his face.
He wasn't expecting you to actually show up. He had hoped that for once that elvish pride would've saved him from having to face another individual of the same kind that had betrayed him years ago.
The silence continued, and you made your presence known. You were here to help the dwarves, nothing more and nothing less. You would accompany them to The Misty Mountains, but you would not step foot into their sacred lair. Not out of respect, but out of the sheer disgust you had for the dwarves.
Not even Eru could force you to enter their dwelling; it seemed as if death was the better option.
The journey there was not an easy one.
And Thorin didn't make it any easier.
He'd pass sly remarks every so often about you, try to demean you in front of everyone. He was constantly fighting a battle to ensure that you were beneath him in every aspect, despite being one of the most skilled elves to traverse Middle-Earth.
"Ah, it's best not to anger (Y/N), Thorin," Gandalf would quip from the background, wanting to ease the tension.
It did nothing.
There was an instance where you had left the group to gain more ground and a safer pathway for the dwarves through the forests.
Yeah, biggest mistake ever and Thorin wouldn't stop nagging you about it.
Those stupid trolls had gotten to them and Bilbo had managed to stall them long enough before Gandalf used the sunlight as a weapon.
"I left for one day... forgive me, I was merely trying to secure a safe path," You hissed at Thorin as he shoved past you.
"A safe path will only do if the company itself is safe first, elf," He spat, glancing over his shoulder. You so desperately wanted to spear your blade through his heart.
The rest of the trip resumed its unsteady silence. You glared at the other dwarves, not wishing to say anything to them. Occasionally, you'd offer a helping hand to Bilbo.
That didn't go unnoticed by Thorin. He didn't really like Bilbo as much, but compared to you? Bilbo was far better, and the stupid burglar was mingling with the wrong person.
However, his concerns of Bilbo shifted to his two nephews - Fili and Kili.
While they still harbored some resentment towards you for being a Sindar Elf, they were still young. They were naive, they did not experience that devastating day when Thranduil's forces abandoned Thorin's desperate cries for help.
And so what did they do?
They talked. Talked, and talked. Especially, Kili. Fili would add a joke once or twice, but if he ever caught Thorin's watchful eye, he'd gulp his words and nudge Kili to quit.
And then slowly, one by one... the dwarves were opening up to you.
Balin was more sympathetic, he was a very kind and wise dwarf. You actually enjoyed his presence.
Bofur was a bit reluctant to talk to you at first, but slowly came around. You noticed this when he asked you if you needed more food on your plate when you were dining in Rivendell. That was enough to tell you that perhaps there could be friendships between the dwarves and the elves.
You saved their asses a couple times, especially with the Goblins. Killed some orcs led by Azog. And then watched Azog brutally wound Thorin.
And then something switched in you. For a moment, you felt your breath hitch at the sight of him, dazed and unconscious. Something began to stir inside of you, and you couldn't place your finger on it. It almost felt... unworldly.
And that feeling continued... even when you ended up facing Thranduil, who was so puzzled at the fact that one of his own kind was helping those dwarves...
"I am repaying a debt that I owe to Gandalf," You explained, your head jutted up high into the air.
"What a terrible way to repay it, (Y/N)." Thranduil grimaced, "If you wanted an opportunity to keep yourself occupied, you could've turned to Legolas and he would've found you a wonderful position among my kingdom. We could use elves such as yourself, you know."
"Ah, but I could not say the same for you," You bit back, noticing the way his eyes widened at your audacity.
Word of your defiance quickly spread to the dwarves as the elves guarding them gossiped about it with such eager interest.
It fell onto Thorin's ears.
He almost thought they were lying to him. He couldn't believe it.
And as you passed Thorin's cell to enter your own, much farther away from the dwarves, you noticed something different about him.
He was smiling at you, a twinkle in his eyes. He seemed... proud? Ecstatic?
When the company and you had escaped via the barrels, you had almost hit a rock down the river. It was surreal to see the way Thorin's hands stretched out to warn you.
It seemed as if he cared.
You took a daring risk to climb off the barrel to kill some orcs, almost slipping across the branch in the process as you jumped back into your barrel.
"Be careful, elf!" Thorin cried out, "You could've gotten yourself killed!"
"And what does it matter to you?" You snapped, furrowing your brows.
He did not respond.
He did not need to.
Because you sort of knew the answer by the way he glanced back at you with a soft smile.
You mattered to him.
More than reclaiming the Mountains? The answer was obviously no.
But when you climbed up and watched him excitedly open the hidden entrance to the inside of the Lonely Mountains, his eyes flashed towards you for a split second.
As if he was waiting to see your reaction as well.
And when you gave in and smiled.
With or without the gold, the Arkenstone or the throne,
He felt as if he was the richest dwarf to ever live.
You mattered to him.
He mattered to you.
And thus began, the love between an elf and a dwarf.

The Misread Braid: Part 2
Rating: fluff/angst
Relationship: filixreader
This is part 2...the first part was from an ask; I will link it at the bottom.
Author's note will be at the bottom as well... I don't want to spoil anything.
Tumblr media
The next few days were the same. Fili canceled plans, worked late into the night, and ignored you. Ori and Nori, whom you had asked to deliver a letter to him, reported that he wouldn't accept it. Your heart ached, feeling certain that he was upset with you. The rest of the company was unusually quiet—there was no gossip, no tea, no whispers, and no one seemed willing to give you a straight answer.  Desperate for information, you decided to seek out Bilbo. You found him in his room, absorbed in a book. After he invited you in for tea, you got straight to the point.
"Bilbo, what's wrong with Fili?" you asked.
"Nice to see you too," Bilbo replied flatly, setting his book aside and putting the kettle on the stove.
"Why is he avoiding me?" you pressed.
"Oh, don't worry about him. Chamomile or green tea?" he asked, shifting the subject.
"Green, please," you said, then added, "But he keeps canceling plans."
"I'd give it some time, Y/N. He's just—oh, whoops, I spilled some water. Can you grab me a towel?" Bilbo said, trying to change the subject.
You stood up to fetch the towel and handed it to him. "He's just what?" you asked.
Bilbo glanced at you quickly before heading to the pantry for cookies. "He's just a little upset right now," he said.
"I know that already. Did I do something wrong?" you asked, feeling anxious.
"Oh no, Y/N," Bilbo said with a half-smile. "Fili wants you to be happy. He's actually happy about your courtship and—"
"Wait, courtship?" you interrupted.
"Yes…" Bilbo looked puzzled.
"What courtship?" you asked.
"The courtship with our friend?" Bilbo clarified.
"I'm not courting my friend! Why would you think that?"
"Your braid? Dwarves court by braiding each other's hair."
"Oh my god," you said, realization dawning. "My friend just braided my hair because I asked them to…not because I'm courting them."
"Really?" Bilbo asked, surprised. "Then why did you invite your friend?"
"Because I thought Fili was going to court me!" you explained.
"He was!" Bilbo exclaimed. Excitement filled the air as you both realized how this misunderstanding could be easily fixed. The gears turn in your head, and you know what to do.
"I gotta go," you yelled, dashing to the door before Bilbo could stop you.
—------------
Racing through the halls toward Fili's room, you were bubbling with excitement. You hadn't realized braiding was part of their courting tradition, and you were eager to talk to Fili.
Knocking at Fili's door, you heard him approach from the other side. When he opened it, you noticed his demeanor change immediately.
"Y/n," he said surprised
"Can I come in? I want to talk," you said, smiling
"I-I'm pretty busy, Y/N." He raised a hand to the nape of his neck, clearly uncomfortable, and started to close the door to keep you from seeing inside.
"Please," you insisted
"Y/n, I told you -
"Fili, who is that?" a voice called from inside.
You froze, stunned, before pushing past him into the room. The scene that greeted you left you speechless—a disheveled room, clothes thrown about, and a half-naked dwarf lying in Fili's bed.
You turned to face Fili, finally noticing the details: his face was sweaty and red, his shirt untucked and half open, and his hair—there it was—a poorly done braid.
"What the fuck?" you demanded.
"Y/N, I can explain," he started, his voice laced with panic.
"What's going on? Fili, who is this?" the dwarf asked, beginning to gather their belongings.
"Get the fuck out!" you screamed, grabbing a shoe and flinging it at the intruder. They scrambled out the door, still in their undergarments.
"Bitch," you heard them mutter as they left.
Fili shifted uncomfortably, his face flushing with a deep red. "I—Y/N, it's not what it looks like."
"It's not?" you said, your anger rising. "Then what is it? Because it certainly looks like you've been getting close with someone else!"
"Oh, that's rich coming from you," he snapped.
"What does that mean" you growled out.
"I saw you with your so-called friend. Congratulations on the courtship," he said bitterly.
"I'm not courting my friend Fili," you screamed
He went silent.
"I'm not being courted," you said again, walking toward him.
"But I saw you two—"
"I didn't realize braiding was a courtship custom for dwarves," you said, tears starting to fall. "I asked them to braid my hair because I thought... I thought you were going to court me. I wanted to look beautiful that night just in case you asked," you added, your voice cracking.
Fili's eyes widened with realization. You undid your braid and handed him the ribbon. There was an eery silence as he looked down at the ribbon. You turned away, unable to look at him.
"Please, Y/N, let me explain," he begged. "I never meant to hurt you. I thought—"
His apology was met with your silent tears. Fili, overwhelmed, wrapped his arms around you, pulling you into a tight embrace. His voice was barely above a whisper. "I'm so sorry. I'm sorry."
Fili cupped your face and kissed you—kisses of desperation and regret. His lips trailed to your cheeks, kissing where your tears had fallen. You felt torn, wanting to kiss him back, to believe this was all a dream, a sick joke, but deep down, you knew it wasn't. You quickly pulled away.
"Y/N, please forgive me," he whispered, his hand gripping yours tightly.
His apology hung in the air as the silence between you grew. You glanced up at Fili one last time before walking away.
"Please," Fili shouted after you, but he knew the damage was done.

There, But Never Really Back
TW: Mentions of death and PTSD
While watching The Hobbit I began to think about what it must have been like for Bilbo after he returned home. The books and movies don't talk about the trauma. How much of bilbos life must have been different after the quest. The other hobbits talk about how reclusive he becomes in his later years, but I want to know more from bilbos side.
How terrifying it must have been for Bilbo the first night he slept in his own bed; finally safe again, only to awake screaming. Blood and fire and dead blue eyes haunting him. I wonder how many years it took Bilbo before he no longer carried Sting everywhere he went. How much longer still before he stopped needing to check to make sure that horrifying blue glow didn't come back. It may not have been present in the books or the movie, but Sting gained a permanent place next to Bilbo's bed.
It didn't take long for Bilbo to pull away from everyone else but it's only because how could he possibly expect them to understand. How could the innocent hobbits who have never known war and death be able to understand the haunted look in his eyes? How odd he must have seemed. The only Hobbit who wouldn't eat any stew at the gatherings and parties. The only Hobbit who shrunk away from hugs because being grabbed was no longer comforting.
Do you think the first time someone tried to pull him into a hug he was overtaken with fear, Thorin's name slipping from his lips?
Do you think Bilbo noticed the way people would stare at him? The Hobbit's may have noticed him pull away, but I don't think they noticed the rest. They may have heard about trolls and dragons, but they didn't know about the sickly little creature he found in that cave. They didn't know about the nights he would wake up frightened, eyes searching for the shadows for Gollum. His neighbors didn't notice how he froze up the first time he heard a little hobbitling ask for some "eggsies". He still spun the occasional riddle but there were some he never repeated again.
Then there is the protectiveness that often comes from the trauma of watching others die.
How odd it must have been for Merry and Pippin's parents to watch Bilbo fiercely defend them against those who disapproved of their pranks and yet in the next breath berate them for the danger they put themselves in. The first time the boys got hurt bilbo could barely stand to see them; the image of two young dwarves who he had loved like family all his mind could see.
God how much worse that must have been when Frodo came along.
Dark black curls and bright blue eyes. Just close enough to haunt him. When that little hobbitling came into his life, how much of his decision to take him in was because he looked like Thorin? How many nights did Bilbo peak his head into Frodo's room to reassure himself that Frodo was alive and breathing, rather than laying on a stone slab? He protected him the way he could not protect his dwarf. Yet he also never bought him a single piece of clothing that was blue.
He filled that hobbit hole with greens and yellows and browns. Never blue. That color was perhaps the deepest tie to the pain he carried. Blue fabric, blue eyes, blue light; all capable of spiraling him into a pit of hellish memories. There were days he could not even bear to go outside because even the blue of the sky was too much.
Because at the end of the day Gandalf was right.
Bilbo was not the same, and he never would be again.

Title: Bet On A Kiss
It had been one thing after another. No time to rest, no time to recuperate. So when they finally learned they were safe in Beorn’s lands, it was like a stone had been lifted off Bilbo’s back. After the events of the goblin tunnels and their run-in with the pale Orc, the company needed time to rest. Thanks to the Eagles carrying them so far, they could afford to take a few weeks to lick their wounds.
Beorn’s gardens felt like the closest thing to home since he left The Shire. Despite everything being twice his size, it was nice to lay among the flowers and just feel the sun on his face for a while. He had almost managed to drift off when two heavy-footed troublemakers lumbered through the grass.
Bilbo decided not to open his eyes, hoping they would pass right along. Instead, he heard a body thump down next to him.
“Kili, what are you doing!” Fili hissed
“It looks comfortable! Better than all the rocks we’ve been forced to lay on so far this journey.”
“Yes, but Uncle told us to find Bilbo!”
“And find him we have Fee.” Kili sounded like he was already completely comfortable on his spot in the grass. The boy's conversation piqued Bilbo’s interest, but he still didn't open his eyes. What did Thorin need with him anyway? He would think saving the king's life would afford him some kind of reprieve. Then again, this was Thorin Oakenshied he was talking about. He heard Fili give an exasperated sigh as he laid down in the grass on the other side of Bilbo.
“If Uncle asks, we can tell him that Bilbo was fast asleep, and we dared not wake him,” Fili whispered. Even if he didn't want to blow his cover by opening his eyes, Bilbo could envision the two armored lads lying among the wildflowers. It was nice that they were taking a moment for themselves. They were barely past their majority and had far too many struggles heaped onto their young shoulders. It made him wonder if Thorin had ever been as carefree and devious as his nephews. Sometimes, he could see that bit of Thorin in how Kili smiled or Fili’s eyes lit up. A smile really did illuminate all the features of the broody king's face. Bilbo dearly hoped it wouldn't be the last time he got to see it. He drifted off into a pleasant mid-day nap with the memory of Thorin smiling at him on Carrock dancing in his subconscious.
Bilbo was woken up mid-dream about 30 minutes later by a pleasant sound saying some unpleasant things.
“I sent you to find Bilbo, so imagine my disappointment when I see that instead of bringing him to me, you laid down next to him and took a nap!” Thorin’s voice was sharp and annoyed. Bilbo’s vision cleared from the fog of sleep to see him pacing in front of the boys giving them a thorough dressing down. He propped himself into a sitting position. He better at least try and step in before they got into any more trouble.
“Leave them alone, Thorin. I refused to go with them and told them to lie down with me. So if you’re yelling at them, you might as well yell at me too.” Bilbo chirped from his spot in the grass. The boy's eyes went wide in shock and gratitude.
“And what was the reason you refused to see me?” Thorin stalked over to where Bilbo was sitting, and he had to crane his neck to see him. Bilbo rolled his eyes and held his hands out, expectantly reaching toward Thorin. The dwarf king cocked an eye before taking his hands and pulling him effortlessly to his feet. Bilbo patted the loose grass and dirt off his pants before addressing Thorin again.
“I didn't refuse to see you; I simply wanted a nap first. Now, what was so urgent that it couldn't have waited until lunch?”
“I want you to start working with the princes to learn the basics of sword fighting.” Thorin crossed his arms and looked back at the boys, who looked equal parts excited and confused.
“That’s what was so incredibly important that I couldn't be allowed to take a nap in the first safe place we’ve landed in since Rivendell!” Bilbo threw up his hands and walked off in the direction of the house, collecting Fili and Kili as he passed them. How was it that someone so incredibly clever and tactically minded could be so dense! The three of them spent most of the afternoon running through some combat basics and standard stances before Bilbo decided that that was enough for today and left to get some food. The boys stayed behind.
**************
Fili and Kili sat under a small cluster of trees, eating some small finger sandwiches that Bilbo had brought out to them. When they finished those, they started sharpening their blades and, in Kilis's case, fashioning new arrows.
“Why do you think Uncle tasked us with teaching Bilbo instead of just doing it himself?” Kili wondered out loud.
“I don't know, could be several things, I guess. We’re closer to Bilbo than anyone else in the company other than maybe Bofur or Ori. It could be we’re the youngest out of the group and remember our early schooling the best. Or maybe he thought that if he had to teach Bilbo, they would be at each other’s throats less than an hour in.”  Fili snickered
“The look Uncle gets on his face every time Bilbo points a wagging finger at him. Last person I’ve ever seen make him able to look like that was amad!” Kili threw his head back in a laugh. “You know, that would make a good wager Fee” Fili knit his brow together,
“What would?”
“Uncle will probably stop by and watch us train for at least a little while tomorrow. If he sees us messing it up too much or not quite to his liking, he’s likely to just take over. So the wager is once he takes over, how long till Uncle pushes Bilbo over the edge and they are in an all-out spat.” Kili’s mischievous smile was infectious, and the more Fili mulled over the idea, the more fun it sounded.
“That's a wager I could get in on.”  Neither of them noticed Bofur, Nori, and Dwalin had been listing in on their little wager idea, and when Nori spoke, it made both boys jump.
“Aye, put me down for 15 minutes before Thorin stomps off in a rage,” Dwalin said, flipping a coin into Kili’s hands.
“I’ll do 20 min, and it’ll be Bilbo who huffs off.” Nori wagered. They all looked at Bofur, who looked deep in thought.
“You putting anything in the pot, Bofur?” Fili asked. Bofur’s face broke into a cheshire smile as he handed his coin over.
“My bet is that it takes them 15 minutes, BUT it won't end in a spat.” His response gained him a volley of blank stairs. “I can't be the only one who sees it? I think it’ll end with them snogging,” Bofur said proudly. The eyebrows of all dwarves currently in attendance shot up. They hadn’t thought of that, then they all doubled over, trying to keep from bursting out laughing.
“Feel free to tell the rest of the company, but don't let Thorin or Bilbo catch wind! As soon as Uncle shows up, we’ll see if we can get him to take over the training!” Kili pocketed the money he had been given so far and went back to making arrows and brainstorming about the day to come.
**************
Quiet and calm was not something that Thorin was typically very good at handling. They had been at Beorn’s for three days, and he was already restless. Thorin had enough downtime to find himself lost in his thoughts. Thoughts that he had, up until this point, tried not to focus on. Thoughts of Bilbo. What the hobbit had been willing to do for him caught him completely by surprise. It made the kindling that was his feelings for Bilbo up until this point catch fire. It also made him incredibly nervous. Yes, Bilbo had saved him, but he had charged into the battle completely unprepared and without any strategy. Without the quick thinking of his kin, it would have meant the death of both of them. If Bilbo was going to start throwing himself into potentially deadly situations, then he needed to learn how to fight, at the very least, the basics.
He had sent his nephews to find Bilbo for a reason. Beorn’s home and land weren't that extensive; it shouldn't have taken them more than 10 minutes to find him. Thorin had specifically sent them to look for him because he didn't want to find himself alone with the hobbit. He had already shown that his willpower was only so powerful with that hug on Carrock. He had meant only to press their foreheads together, but the overwhelming relief at seeing Bilbo whole and hale had hijacked his intentions. He hadn't expected Bilbo to fit so perfectly against him, like a puzzle piece clicking into place.
He stalked through Beorn’s grounds until he finally saw what happened to his nephews. They had, in fact, found Bilbo. They flanked him, hands behind their heads, snoring lazily. Bilbo was lying on his side, curled in on himself. His features were soft, and he looked at peace. Thorin stood there momentarily, allowing himself to steal this moment of comfort they so infrequently got on the road before waking Fili and Kili.
Thorin watched Bilbo walk away, practically dragging the boys behind him. Good, best, Bilbo thought he was a hard ass. It was safer for both of them that way.
The next day after a few meetings on supplies with Beorn and Balin, Thorin found himself again with nothing to do. He sat on the front porch smoking a pipe and humming to himself until he got bored and decided to check in on how Bilbo’s training was coming along.
The boys had set up around a clear space between 2 clusters of tall oak trees. They waved as he approved, then went back to their drills. Thorin sat on a stump nearby and relit his pipe to watch. At first, it looked like everything was going well. Bilbo had a good stance, and he was holding his sword correctly. He had divested himself of his jacket and blazer and was just wearing his thin linen shirt and trousers. Thorin stared a little too long at how Bilbo’s body was moving through the drills. He was paying close enough attention that he also noticed that his footwork was all over the place. He waited to hear the prince's corrections, but none came. In fact, Kili was patting Bilbo on the back and congratulating him!
“Make sure you’re watching his footwork!” Thorin shouted. Fili gave a thumbs up, and they went again. The same thing happened, and again, the same congratulations. Thorin grumbled under his breath as he tapped out the embers of his pipe before approaching.
“You’re not watching his feet! If his footwork is that clumsy in battle, he’s as likely to trip and fall on his own sword as he is to kill an orc.” Thorin chastised. He turned to Bilbo. “Put down the sword and use this.” Thorin tossed a sparing stick at Bilbo’s feet.
“Why can't we keep using a real blade?” Bilbo asked while picking up the stick.
“Because we are not running drills. Footwork is the basis of all swordsmanship, and I intend to show you why. Ready yourself.” The moment he saw Bilbo take a stance with the sparing stick in hand, Thorin lunged. Bilbo held the stick out in front of him and parried the first attack but overcompensated. The second attack landed him on his back.
“Dead. Again but this time, widen your feet.” Bilbo did, and Thorin lunged again, this time allowing Bilbo the opportunity to repost. Thorin stepped out of the way and thwacked Bilbo on the back of the leg sending him to the floor.
“Dead. Again but this time, bend your knees. When you lunge for an attack, your feet should go with you. Don't overextend yourself, or you’re an easy target.” Bilbo picked himself off the floor and brushed the dust off his trousers. His face was now pulled back in a scowl. Bilbo didn't wait for him to attack first, but it made no difference. Thorin met the blow head-on, then tripped the small hobbit sending him to the floor once again.
“Tripping me definitely felt like cheating. If I didn't know better, I would say you were just enjoying getting to toss me around.” Bilbo huffed as he picked himself off the ground again. Thorin tried not to blush at the double entendre.
“There is no cheating in warfare if it keeps you alive.” Thorin said sternly, “Are you good to go again, or do you need to take a break?”
“I bet you would love it if I wanted to take a break. The weak little hobbit couldn't go more than three short rounds in a spar with the king. Well, if beating on me makes you less of an ass for the next few days, then fine, let's give the audience a show.” Bilbo sounded more annoyed and pissed off than Thorin had heard him in a while. He also noticed they did indeed have more of an audience than he had realized. The entire company was standing around the perimeter of their sparing area watching with determination.
“Fine, one more round.” Thorin lunged, and Bilbo parried the blow and backed up, waiting for Thorin to advance. When he did, Bilbo repeated the tactic. Curious where this was going, Thorin let Bilbo guide the match until finally, Bilbo had nowhere else to go, and Thorin had him backed into a tree.”
“Always be aware of your surroundings, Burglar, Dea-!!!!” Bilbo balled his fist into the front of Thorin’s tunic and yanked him down as hard as he could, crashing their lips together. It was such an overwhelmingly lovely sensation that Thorin dropped his sparring sword and braced one hand on the tree behind them. The other hand was now firmly behind Bilbo’s head, pulling him into an even deeper kiss. He hadn't even fully registered what had happened. All he could think was how amazing Bilbo’s mouth felt, how he tasted like honey, and the pipeweed he liked so much. He was absolutely sure he never wanted to stop kissing this mouth ever again. When he was finally forced to come up for air, he was rewarded with Bilbo’s blushing kiss drunk face.
“Dead,” Bilbo simpered. Thorin screwed up his face in confusion as he just barely registered the sparing stick Bilbo was holding to his side. Thorin pinned Bilbo’s hand above his head, causing him to squeak adorably and drop what he was holding. He brought his face as close to Bilbo’s as he could without their lips meeting.
“Please tell me that kiss was not just a ploy to win the match,” Thorin whispered. He had not meant for it to come out as a plea.
“No, but it helped.” Bilbo giggled. He closed the kiss once again, and Thorin dropped Bilbo’s hand so he could use it to run his fingers through his silky soft curls. Words of elation and disappointment could be heard from the crowd behind him. He heard Bofur shout.
“HA! Take that! You shouldn't have doubted me! Put the money in the hat, boys!” and heard the unmistakable sound of coins being dropped on top of one another. Thorin didn't care; how could he with the feeling of a happily pliant Bilbo under him. Perhaps a few weeks of time to recuperate from their travels would be more pleasant than he thought.

Third Pov
The girls were getting ready to meet the White Council. Gandalf explained to Thorin that it would be best if the girls went with him. He wasn't happy about that and neither was Bilbo, because they were their daughters and they feared what could happen. The girls reassured them and the rest of the company that they'd be fine and they would be with Gandalf and Lord Elrond.
Fili was scared to be parted from his love but Kate reassured him that it wouldn't be forever and they would be reunited soon. He knew she was right but still didn't like it. The others didn't know of their relationship so they went to the fountain where they confessed their love for one another. They shared a passionate kiss, Fili putting all his love in the kiss so that Kate knew how much he loved her and she returned it with just as much love. He put his forehead to hers, whispering in Khuzdul that he loved her. When they parted and returned to the group, she gave him a reassuring smile. She hugged the others goodbye.
Meanwhile with Renee, she reassured the group that they would delay the council for as long as possible. She gave them a reassuring smile, knowing they were not happy about it. They had come to love the girls as their kin. Plus they were the babies of the group so they hated it even more. Kili wasn't happy about it. He hated that they would stay back. He wanted them with the group, he wanted Renee with him so that he could protect her and put his mind at ease, knowing she was safe by his side but he knew that this was the best option. Renee noticed that Kili was extremely quiet, which was very weird considering how much of a menace. She walked over to him and sat down next to him.
"Are you okay Kee?"
"I just wish there was another option, one where you all come with us but Gandalf's right. This is the best option."
"Hey, it's not forever. We'll be together soon. All of us. Besides you guys need us so much that you'd probably unintentionally insult someone if we weren't there to put you in your place. But I mean it, I won't let anything keep us apart. Not even death."
"You better. I can't lose you, Renee. Or Kate or Lili. Mainly because one is my family and the other will become my sister...hopefully. "
"Yea, they thought they were subtle. But I'm happy for them. Kate deserves to be happy."
"They do. I'm happy to call Kate my sister and Lili my cousin."
"And me? What am I to you?"
Kili looked Renee in her eyes. She looked so ethereal and beautiful. She had the most beautiful doe eyes he had ever seen. She looked almost innocent. He couldn't tell her, fear of rejection. He loved her. He put his hand on her cheek, rubbing his thumb on her cheek with a soft smile.
"I don't think I can say just how important you are to me. It would take forever."
He leaned down and kissed her forehead, whispering something in Khuzdul that she didn't understand before walking away. She just stood there, not sure what to think. He kissed her. Could he- No he can't. He can't love her. He's a dwarf prince. It would never work. She watched him talking to Ori. She knew she had fallen for him. And she fell hard. She looked around for her sisters and saw Lilith standing next to her father. She felt her chest tighten. She wished her father was still here. She missed him so much. And her mother. She wanted her parents back.
Soon it was time for the girls to leave with Gandalf. Renee quickly hugged Kili with the reassurance that they would be together again soon. They walked behind him as they made their way to where Lord Elrond was waiting for them. They walked behind Gandalf and Lord Elrond as the two spoke. As they spoke they made their way to the meeting place of the White Council.
"With or without our help, these dwarves will march on the mountain. They're determined to reclaim their homeland. I do not believe Thorin Oakenshield feels that he is answerable to anyone. Nor, for that matter, am I."
"It is not me you must answer to."
There at the edge of the cliff stood the Lady of Light herself. Lady Galadriel had her back towards them, hair flowing down like golden waves of water. Her dress was so long it went down the stairs where she stood. She had a beautiful silver circle on her head, with patterns resembling roots intertwining with one another. She looked breath taking. The girls gaped at her beauty.
Lilith's Pov
Holy shit my great-grandma is hot as fuck. Now I know where I got my beauty from. Seriously though, she's gorgeous. I wanted to look away so I didn't seem creepy but I couldn't. I immediately snapped out of my trance and hit my sisters' sides, causing them to snap out of their trance and turn to glare at me. We turned our attention back to the others.
Lady Galadriel turned around and I noticed her circlet had blue gems on it, possibly sapphires. I looked at her face. She looked so young, no wrinkles or lines anywhere. You'd find it hard to believe she was 8,372 years old. She looked like she was in her late thirties. I wonder what the secret is. Gandalf finally spoke.
'Lady Galadriel."
"Mithrandir. It has been a long time."
"Age may have changed me but not so the Lady of Lórien."
Damn, dude's got moves. Lady G smiled at him and Grandpa just looked at him in amusement. Renee was chuckling at him while Kate was trying not to laugh.
"I had no idea lord Elrond had sent for you."
"He didn't."
"Hmm?"
"I did."
Gandalf closed his eyes as if he had just been caught stealing. I looked towards the sound of the voice and there stood the one person I've been wanting to give a piece of my mind to, Sauron's Cockwarmer aka Saurman the White. My sisters and I glared at him so hard that if looks could kill, he'd be dead 100 times. This man is a traitor and a coward. I hate him with everything I have. Gandalf turned towards him with a fake smile.
"Saurman"
"You've been busy of late, my friend."
He turned his attention to us.
"And who, pray tell, are they?"
I let Renee handle this because if I spoke I'd probably be in so much trouble with Kate and lose the remaining brain cells I have left.
"What are you fucking blind or something? We're ladies, the ones who are not afraid to insult you if you don't stop glaring at our wizard like that. The name's Renee, that's Kathrine but Kate will do and that's Lilith, Lord Elrond's granddaughter. Well I mean we're all his granddaughters because Lilith is our sister, Anyway that's done."
"Surely that's impossible. Lord Elrond's children have not married yet."
"Well obviously someone needs the birds and bees talk. His daughter Elenor, our mother, fell in love with a dwarf and she got pregnant and left through a magic cave. 9 months later, a baby girl was born, this one here. Any questions? No? Great. And before you ask, no Kate and I are not her biological daughters. She adopted us when we were 6. All caught up now? Now Lilith I know you want to rip him a new one so I'm going to let you get it out of your system here and now because you look ready to burst. Everyone else, just watch the drama unfold and can we get some snacks by any chance? I'm starving!"
I could see the steam coming out of her ears. Everyone just stared at her for a few minutes after a long minute or two and looked at me.
"Okay, first of all, It is lovely to meet an old friend of my Grandfather, Lady Galadriel. I hope that we can become well acquainted and I hope to hear your stories about my mother. Second of all, Reni, thank you."
I said while looking at Lady G and gave an evil smile. One that would rival the Grinch's.
"Now...You."
I said slowly turning to the little bitch- I mean Saurman the white with a calm smile on my face. I could see the fear shine in his eyes. I remember that Lady G can communicate telepathically.
Lady Galadriel?
Yes, child?
I need to show you what is going to happen in 60 years, we come from a world where Middle Earth is a novel. Anyway, there is The Hobbit, which takes place now and The Lord of The Rings, which takes place in 60 years. In short, Saurman turns his back on everything and goes to work with Sauron. He tries to get the ring so he can give it to his master and tries to kill Gandalf. The thing is we have reason to believe that he has been secretly working for him for a while now. Why else would he be against the Dwarves getting their rightful home back?
That is a lot to take in, child. But I believe you, myself, have been suspicious of him for a while now as well. What do you plan to do?
Oh, I plan to expose him.
Well then, your friend was right, we will be needing snacks.
"Tell me, Saurman, why don't you want my father and his people to have their home back? And don't give me 'It's not the right time' or 'It's too dangerous' shit because we both know that's not it.-"
"Excuse me, don't talk to me like that you little brat!-"
"And don't you fucking interrupt me you old sleaze bag!
I was so ready to expose him but then of course Kate just had to ruin all my fun. As usual.
"Lilith enough. I know you want to go off but please not now. And Renee, stop encouraging her. We are guests so behave yourself both of you. Let's just get this over and done with then you can go nuts. I promise."
I groaned but I knew if I didn't do as she said, I'd be in so much trouble. I glared at him before moving to where my sisters stood. Gandalf sat down and across from him sat Saurman. We decided to stand behind Gandalf while grandpa stood off to the side and Lady G walked around. Renee and I hated the fact that we had to wait to expose that fucking bastard.
"Tell me Gandalf, did you think these plans and schemes of yours would go unnoticed?"
"Unnoticed? No, I-I'm simply doing what I feel to be right."
"The dragon has long been on your mind."
"That is true, my lady. Smaug owes his allegiance to no one. But if he should side with the enemy, a dragon could be used to terrible effect."
"What enemy? Gandalf the enemy is defeated. Sauron is vanquished. He can never regain his full strength."
"Gandalf, for 400 years, we have lived in peace, a hard-won, watchful peace."
"Are we? Are we at peace? Trolls have come down from the mountains. They are raiding villages, destroying farms. Orcs have attacked on the road."
"Hardly a prelude to war."
"Always you must meddle, looking for trouble where none exists."
"Hey. You better watch it. I don't care who the fuck you are but no one disrespects our wizard."
"Renee enough."
Renee looked ready to fucking kill him and strangle him with her hands. Luckily Kate stopped her before she could. I can't believe this asshole. Lady G interrupted.
"Let him speak." I smiled at her in thanks. She returned it with a nod.
"There is something at work beyond the evil of Smaug. Something more powerful. We can remain blind to it but it will not be ignoring us, that I can promise you. A sickness lies over Greenwood. The woodsmen who live there now call it Mirkwood. And they...they say..."
"Well? Don't stop now. Tell us what the woodsmen say."
"They speak of a necromancer living in Dol Guldur. A sorcerer who can summon the dead."
'That's absurd. No such power exists in this world. This necromancer is nothing more than a mortal man. A conjurer dabbling in black magic."
"How would you know? Did you investigate? Or are you so prideful that you can't admit that maybe you missed something and could be very wrong? What do you think girls?"
My sisters nodded, agreeing with me. I smirked at him. I knew he would deny it. He's already fallen to the dark side. I just have to get him to admit it. Besides Lady G seems to believe me.
" I thought so as well. But Radagast has seen-"
"Radagast?! Do not speak to me of Radagast the Brown. He's a foolish fellow."
"Well, he's odd, I grant you. He lives a solitary life"
"It's not that. It's his excessive consumption of mushrooms. They've addled his brain and yellowed his teeth. I warned him. It is unbefitting one of the Isatri to be wandering the woods-"
Renee's Pov
I've had enough of this bitch.
"I'd stop talking if I were you. Lilith looks ready to blow."
"Oh I am. Who the fuck do you think you are, insulting others? Radagast is an amazing wizard and yes he's odd but that is what makes him unique. Not everyone can act like there's a stick up their ass. And also the way you insult and belittle Gandalf, he is a much better wizard than you are. He actually cares about this world while all you care about is power and staying on top. I've seen men like you and I hate them with a passion. I despise people like you. The Isatri are supposed to watch over and protect middle earth but you just blatantly ignore the evil that is trying to return. Damn you're worse than Thorin. I ought to wring your fucking neck but then Kate would kill me and Id like to not die just yet. Thank you for your time." MIC DROP
While Lilith was talking or more like threatening Saurman, Gandalf seemed lost in thought. I guessed that he was having a conversation with Lady G telepathically. I could hear them discussing something in my head and I knew immediately that it had to be about the blade. My guess was right when he reached in his robes and took out the blade that Radagast gave him before they were chased with orcs. He placed it on the table, drawing everyone's attention. Lord Elrond uncovered it, revealing the morgul blade. I could feel the darkness surrounding it, making me groan. It felt like someone was calling for me, seducing me to the dark side. I looked away from it, unable to handle the pain anymore. I felt a hand on my shoulder and saw Lady G looking at me with a soft smile. I returned it, letting her know that I was okay. I felt her enter my mind.
My child you have great power within you. I sense a power that has been lost for a long time.
That explains why I got affected when I saw the blade. Do I have darkness in me? Can you help me make sense of this?
My dear child, you hold an ancient and strong power. You hail from an old race, one that was said to be wiped out long ago. I can feel your confusion. Do not fear young one, there is no darkness in you. Have faith, my child.
My attention went back to the current problem.
"What is that?"
"A relic of Mordor."
"A Morgul blade."
"Made for the Witch-king of Angmar and buried with him. When Angmar fell, the men of the north took his body and all that he possessed and sealed it within the High Fells of Rhudaur. Deep within the rock, they buried him. In a tomb so dark, it would never come to light."
"Damn, it sounds like my kind of place. No too mention, no people that can talk back. Ooh sign me the fuck up. And not to mention mystery. Oooh this is giving me ideas for a story. I can't wait-."
Kate hit the back of my head, shaking her head while Lilith rolled her eyes at me. They were so done with me.
"This is not possible. A powerful spell lies upon those tombs. They cannot be opened."
"What proof do we have that this weapon came from Angmar's grave?"
"I have none."
"Because there is none. Let us examine what we know. A single orc pack has dared to cross the Bruinen. A dagger from the bygone age has been found. And a human sorcerer who calls himself the Necromancer has taken up refuge in an old ruined fortress. It's not very much, after all. The question of this Dwarvish company, however, troubles me deeply. I'm not convinced, Gandalf. I do not feel I can condone such a quest. If they'd come to me, I might have spared them this disappointment. I do not pretend to understand your reason for raising their hopes..."
He just kept going on and on. I swear does he ever shut up? I mean seriously, I'm surprised I haven't cut my ears off with how annoying he is. I just looked at him with a bored expression, Kate was emotionless but Lilith? She was seething with anger. I mean who wouldn't. Dude literally disrespected her father, I literally do the same. Plus he insulted Gandalf. More of a reason to hate him. I heard footsteps and turned to the entrance to see Lindir walking towards us with a panicked look.
"My Lord Elrond, the dwarves, they've gone."
I looked at Gandalf and gave him a small smirk. He gave me a wink. The girls looked at me and we smirked. Now they can't stop them from reclaiming Erebor Soon Lady G came up to me. My guess, to tell me how I was able to sense the darkness surrounding the blade.
"My dear, tell me, have you heard of the Kharonn Clan?"
"No, never."
She then explained who they were. They were a race that had fire powers and could manipulate it to their will. They could sense and feel darkness which often came in handy, they had phoenix abilities, even transform into one but only the truly skilled and powerful were able to. They got visions which would explain a lot considering that I've been having visions a lot lately. But they also had another secret, they had dragon magic running through their veins. They had the strength and power of a dragon. They were even able to transform into one on command. I was in such shock that I started walking backwards until I hit the table, leaning against it. This was a lot to take in. But what I didn't understand was how I could be one of them. I wasn't born in Middle Earth nor did my parents have any magic.
"But that can't be. I wasn't born in Middle Earth. Neither of my parents possessed magical abilities."
"Who were your parents?"
"Um, my mom's name was Aurora and my dad's name was Ragnar. I just thought he had an ancient heritage so I didn't really look into it. I had a brother Tommy but he died four years ago."
" I know Those names. I knew your mother well. In fact so did Gandalf, better than anyone. She was indeed also from the Kharonn clan. He was a very powerful warrior. Her power could rival the dark lord. I always wondered what happened to her and her family."
"My mother was a Kharonn? I never knew that. She died when I was four alongside my dad. They never told us anything about it. They didn't get a chance. But how did they...wait that's it, of course, they went through the portal. I must have still been in my mothers womb. Like Lilith and mama. What I'm still trying to understand is how You knew my parents Gandalf? Were you good friends of theirs?"
"Yes I guess you could say that. They were very important to me."
"You must tell her Mithrandir. She must know."
"I must know what?"
"My dear child, your mother was the most important person in my life. My wife and I loved her so much. When she left, it broke my heart."
He put his hands on my shoulders as I listened to him speak. I'm still so confused. I looked at him in confusion until my eyes widened in realisation. He. He's my Grandfather. Gandalf the Grey is my Grandfather. I had a family. My eyes teared up as I looked up at him. He looked at me with a soft smile.
"Yes My dear. Your mother was my daughter. You are my granddaughter. I figured it out that night in Bag End. I just didn't know how to tell. I'm sorry for keeping this a secret my child."
I stepped back before literally screaming:
"Holy shit!!!! Gandalf the Grey is my grandfather?! I have a wizard for a grandfather!!! Whoa didn't see that coming, Ah but that explains why I was always so comfortable and safe around you. Cool, cool, cool, cool. Okay so let me get this straight (HEHE STRAIGHT), my parents were from Middle Earth, I'm part of an ancient and powerful race, I have fire magic, my grandfather is the greatest wizard of all time, I can transform into a dragon on command and I'm super duper powerful. Ooh plus I'm half wizard. Damn this is the best day ever. I'm so happy you're my grandfather."
I hugged Gandalf, letting my tears fall. He held me in his embrace, rubbing my back in comfort. He placed a couple kisses on my head. I finally pulled back and looked up at him with a smile. He chuckled at my childishness before returning the smile. I looked at my sisters. They were smiling with tears in their eyes, Lord Elrond smiled at me and grandpa with a look of happiness. Lady G came up to me and put her hands on my shoulders. I turned around and hugged, thanking her for helping me find my family. But I still didn't know what race my father was.
"Um grandpa, I know mom was part wizard and part Kharonn but I still don't know what race dad was."
"Your father was a dwarf. He was a dwarf from Erebor actually. Ragnar, Son of Razor. He was a very strong and powerful dwarf. He saved your mother the first day they met. She was fighting a big pack of orcs by herself when he found her and helped her. They ran into each a few times after that before deciding to travel together. They fell in love and he asked to court her. They were courted for about 20 years before they finally got married. Your mother was with child a few years later and had your brother Tommy. A few years later she was with a child again, you. However word got out about your mother being Kharonn. Only her and your grandmother were left so they went after them. They killed your grandma. We decided that it was better if they disappeared completely. We came across the cave and that was the last time I saw or heard of them."
"Motherfuckers killed my grandma. Oh now I have more of a reason to kill those bastards. But what matters is that they didn't kill mom and dad. So I'm a third dwarf, a third wizard and a third Kharonn. That's so fucking awesome. I can turn into a dragon. Yes. All the chaos I can bring. Arson!! Don't worry I won't actually do anything like that. Maybe with orcs but that's it. I'm just so happy. Ooh maybe I can be the one to take on that overgrown lizard. Ooh I can see it now. I can't wait."
I ran to my sisters jumping up and down. I tugged on their sleeves until they eventually hit the back of my head. I groaned and pouted. How dare they hit me.
"What happened to your brother, my child?"
I looked at Lady G and remembered that Tommy will never get to meet grandpa. I immediately felt the mood dampen.
"Tommy...He was killed a few years ago. Some guy tried to take his money and anything valuable. He didn't comply so he ended up getting stabbed. The guy just left him for dead. The police called us a few hours later. We all miss him very much."
She looked at us with a sad smile. I looked at grandpa. I could tell that he missed tommy. I could feel his pain and anger. But I could also feel his sadness and heartbreak. He'll never get to meet his little boy. I hugged grandpa tightly, making him return it and giving me a kiss on my forehead. At least he's still alive in our hearts. Soon everyone had made peace with Tommy's death. I realised that bastard Saurman was still here. He looked completely angry. Not surprised. I turned to Lilith.
"Okay now you can rip him a new one...again. He disrespected my grandpa, our friends and I know that you want to expose him so he's all yours sis. Everyone else, I suggest you take a seat, get some snacks and watch the drama unfold." Kate and I sat in the steps, smirking at what was about to happen. Lady G and grandpa stood next to us and they looked somewhat excited. Lord Elrond just looked at us extremely confused as did Lindir.
This is where the fun begins.

YAY Renee found her family. And its freaking Gandalf. Who wouldn't want Gandalf as a grandfather. Anyway You're probably super duper confused about the whole Kharonn thing. So I was trying to come up with an ancient race that was supposed to be gone but obviously wasn't. We will dive deeper into Renee's heritage as the story progresses. My co writer Chloe got this idea frim Criminal minds and we just changed it up a bit. So I've had this idea for a long time. I know that everyone is waiting to see Lilith literally tear Saurman apart but you need to wait for the next chapter. I don't know when that will be because soon Ill be going camping with my family and I wont be allowed to bring my laptop. So hopefully within in the next week I can update it before I have to worry about University again. Please bare with me. I'm not the best at time management. Also please let me know if you want me to share pics of my camping trip. And don't be afraid to comment and vote. Well I got to go. See you soon. Byeeeeeeee.

“ just let it out. “ — to Bilbo.
Hurt&Comfort
It was over. The battle was done and the dwarves were celebrating. There was a sense of relief that seemed to spread around to man and elf as well. As if a weight had been lifted off of all of them. The celebrations lasted days, though Bilbo did not take part in much of the festivities. There was a lot that played at his mind, telling him it was time to leave before anything else happened.
But he needed that confirmation first. A part of him needed to make sure Thorin and his nephews would pull through.
He could still see the fighting. He could still picture Fili's fall, a fall that nearly killed him. He could still hear Kili yelling. And Thorin -- There was so much blood.
Tumblr media
It was late evening when Balin came to inform him of the good news. Kili was the first to awaken, though Fili still seemed to be unconscious, he was making a good recovery. Of course, Balin knew the most pressing question on Bilbo's mind though; How was Thorin? "He's awake, if tha's what ya wanna know," Balin reached up to pat Bilbo's shoulder, "And I'm sure he'd enjoy a visit from a good friend." "Ah..heh. Right. I will make my way there, then. Is...Is Gandalf still around?" he asked, glancing around the halls as if the wizard would appear at the mere mention of his name.
"I believe he went into Dale to talk with Bard -- He mentioned he wouldn't be long," Balin answered. Bilbo gave a small nod, debating for the moment in finding the wizard and leaving now. Thorin was awake, he was alive. His nephews were well, too. That was all the confirmation the hobbit needed. He didn't wish to address anything else, including his own guilt.
If only he had been stronger. Perhaps then he wouldn't have been unconscious while his friends nearly perished.
Bilbo didn't catch the last of Balin's words, only realizing he was now standing there alone and that the dwarf was wandering away when he came back from his thoughts. His lips curled into a thin line and his nose twitched nervously. There was a decision to be made, and either way, the hobbit felt like a coward. He began to walk, letting his feet carry him and decide for him as to where he would end up.
Apparently they had decided to take him to Thorin's room, which he could hear voices coming from. One of softer, tired sounding, which had to be Thorin. The other was boisterous and loud, which had to be Dain. He recognized the voice from the battle, though he hadn't really interacted with the dwarf after everything was said and done. The hobbit listened quietly as the two had their conversation, one he likely shouldn't be eaves dropping in on. Where were his manners? The dwarves must be growing on him.
Of course, the conversation sounded pleasant, if a bit political. He wondered why these things could not wait until Thorin was more recovered. He had just woken up, after all.
As Bilbo listened, he suddenly heard heavy footsteps coming towards the door, making the hobbit panic. He looked around, wondering for a moment if he could make a quick exit, but it was already too late. So, instead, he raised a hand as if to knock on the door when it opened before him and Dain nearly walked straight into him. The ginger dwarf startled, "Aye, laddy, what're ya doin'ere?" Bilbo opened his mouth, a lack of words coming for a moment. He must have had the strangest look on his face for Dain could only raise a brow at him.
"I came to see Thorin...I..I heard he was awake," Bilbo finally stated, feeling tension in his body. He felt stiff, once again barely hearing Dain's words as he stepped aside to let the hobbit enter the room. Something was said about Thorin needing his rest, to which Bilbo commented that he wouldn't stay too long.
There was a silence that fell as Dain excused himself, roughly closing the door behind himself as he left the two alone. Bilbo was not making eye contact, his gaze glued to the floor as he tried to find the words. There were so many before, but now they all seemed lost or too feeble to explain exactly how he felt. It was as though every possible idea, every scenario he had been thinking up while Thorin was unconscious, had just been erased from his memory. He supposed the actual conversations were always harder than fictitious ones.
"Thorin, I..." he finally managed a glance up at the dwarf, who still had that intense stare despite everything. He was quick to look away again, afraid the dwarf he considered to be a dear friend would suddenly look down upon him again. That he would realize his first assumptions of the hobbit hadn't been far from the truth after all.
"Just let it out."
Thorin's voice hit his ears, though it wasn't as harsh as he expected. It was softer than normal, tired sounding. He could only imagine how exhausted the dwarf must be, especially with all of his injuries. Those injuries would certainly take a long time to heal, though they may never fully heal at all.
Tumblr media
"I thought we lost you..." Bilbo finally let it slip, feeling an overwhelming wave of emotions wash over him, "You, and Fili and Kili -- And I just stood there..." He let out a weary laugh, shaking his head. "I am sorry, Thorin. For everything. For..deceiving you, for being unable to aid you and the others during the battle. I...I hope you recover...I truly believe that you will be a great King. I just wanted to say that before I left for the Shire." There was more he could say. So much more he could just let go of, but now was not the time. Not when the dwarf literally just woke up.
"Goodbye, Thorin..." he turned to leave, making a beeline for the door as if he needed to leave this instant or risk something being said that he either didn't want to say or didn't want to hear.

Woodland Princess Ch.6: Expected
Tumblr media
Ch.5 Ch.7
A/N Raerthar and Aelsar can understand and communicate telepathically. This will be shown through the use of italics.
In the morning I take off my spell and find that the company is already partially down the mountain. I was slightly angry that they left without me but I soon saw that Gandalf wasn't with them.
I looked around and saw him with our two horses. He was happy to see that I had taken down my invisibility spell. I mounted Raerthar while Gandalf mounted his unnamed pony and we started down the paths which led to the rest of our group.
We caught up with them and Thorin wasn't happy to see me there at all. Fili and Kili came over and we chatted a little to pass by the time, soon it was dusk and our horses were exhausted from the day full of heat. We were coming by a small destroyed building where Thorin decided we should stay.
I was not happy at all and neither was Gandalf judging by how he tried to usher Thorin to keep moving and possibly stop by Rivendell to get the map read.
By the mere mention of an elvish name and he turned cold and said,
"I will not seek the help of the people who betrayed my kingdom." Before walking away to talk to someone else. Gandalf was angry and stalked away only to have Bilbo ask,
"Gandalf where are you going?" Gandalf answered him, though I did not catch if as I heard Raerthar whinny at the stupidity of dwarves and the arrogance of some wizards. I sighed and untracked her, allowing her to roam free among the other horses.
It had been an hour since Gandalf left and I was slightly worried, thinking that if we were attacked the only defense I had were two blades on a bow with no arrow.
Out of nowhere Raerthar appeared scared, motioning for me to follow her. We reached where the other horses were kept but I made it just in time to see Fili and Kili rush forward with Bilbo struggling to keep up.
After a few moments of thinking and told Raerthar to watch and if I didn't come back soon, then to go and get the others.
I quietly sprinted through the wee in time to see Fili and Kili push Bilbo forward into an area with trees that seemed to be forced down. After a few moments the brothers ran back towards the company, as they went past me I jumped out from out of my hiding place and tripped both of them knowing they wouldn't stop if I told them to.
"Owwww" Kili complained as he and Fili got up. They turned and saw me, and suddenly looked slightly scared.
"Why are you leaving Bilbo? You know he has no means of defending himself!" I nearly yell at them and they back up slightly in fear. I realized I was scaring them and took a step back with my head down,
"Sorry," I say in apology for my outburst. They look slightly less fearful now.
"We need your help, where Bilbo went there are mountain trolls, and they are trying to catch him but right now he's fine. Kili and I are going to get the company but you need to help Bilbo." Fili said in an ordering tone.
I dash towards Bilbo just in time to see that one has caught him and is holding him by his legs. I reach for my daggers but they aren't there and I remember Thorin still has them, so instead I grab my bow and carefully undo the binding that holds the blades onto it.
I quickly grab some vine and wrap part of the blade to make a grasp for the knife. I jump out and see the troll trying to eat him, I quickly jump up a tree and land on his back, dragging the knives through his skin as I slid down to the floor. He screams in pain and drops Bilbo.
I run around and try to distract the trolls while Bilbo releases the ponies. They have me cornered and I can't escape. When they were about to grab me the company came out of the bushes and started slashing through their skin. I see dwarves being thrown, picked up, and dropped but I can't find Bilbo.
I soon see a troll grab him and try to make it over there but Thorin steps in the way and says,
"You leave! You're just slowing us down!" He shouts, I try to regain myself but being told I slow the group down is a punch to my pride and self-confidence.
I slowly walk backwards into the forest and disappear from sight. I walk back over to Raerthar and say,
"We're leaving." She looks at me and then to the noise from the commotion.
'Won't they need your help?' Raerthar asks slightly confused of why I left the fight.
"No, Thorin says I just slow them down so I want to see how far they get without me." I responded. After a slightly confusing conversation Raerthar convinces me to check up on the fight one last time seeing as the noise has stopped. I agree and head off to check in the dwarves.
When I see them I feel slightly happy to know they didn't last long after I left. I circle the area silently then rush back to the camp and search every bag they had for my weapons.
I finally found my daggers wrapped in a type of cloth with the arrows tied together beside them. I stuffed the arrows into my cloak's pocket and reattached the blades I made to my bow. Then I took my blades and silently crept through the forest back to the trolls.

Oh! Oh! Oh! Can I pwease get a Thorin Oakenshield with a very soft and introvert boyfriend? I think it would be so cuteeeeeee.
Thanks for your time!
Adding a caring and little overprotective Thorin to this :)
Tumblr media
You didn't know how you came out of your shell and got together with Thorin, but it happened. Somehow.
One of your assumptions were that Fili and Kili played Amor together and just used what was given on the journey, like Thorin sleeping next to you, you walking near him, and "accidentally" nudging you in his chest.
Anyway, somehow, you ended up together and it was a dream. Thorin always showed care when you needed it, for example after another orc attack or after just an exhausting day. He listened to you talking about your fears as well as dreams and he never interrupted you.
When you asked him something he would always answer honestly but also with care as to not hurt your feelings. He could not stand the thought of hurting you in any way so he was also super careful with touching you, but he would definetly search for body contact when he didn't have to lead the company somewhere.
You noticed how he would soften up when he talked to you compared to the others and when you asked him about it he had even blushed a bit and had said: "You are so soft yourself, I do not want to not give you that in return." You had smiled and given him a shy peck on the lips.
Thorin just adores you.
You are the man he would go on his knees for (which he does literally). He only has eyes for you, you are his king and he would do anything to protect you.
You smiled when you remembered all that about your partner and continued watching the dancing flames before your face, you were so glad to finally rest. The company was cooking, taking care of the ponies and discussing over the route for tomorrow.
Thorin had said you should take care of yourself as you got some bruises from a fight this day which were a bit deeper than usual. He just wanted you to rest and recover so tomorrow wouldn't overuse you.
After a few minutes the camp for the night was set up and the dwarves took places around the fire. Bilbo was helping Bombur with the stew; Gandalf, Balin, Dwalin, and Thorin were still discussing; Nori and Bifur were talking; Dori was looking after a scratch of Ori; Oin, Bofur, and Gloin were joking in Khuzdul; and Fili and Kili were walking over to you.
The brothers were sitting on each side of you, both smiling but visibly tired. "You fought good today.", Kili complimented you.
"Today?", you asked jokingly. You were comfortable with both of them, always joking around and just feeling good.
Kili chuckled and shook his head "Okay, you always fight well but you were more offensive today. Scared the orcs away"
Fili nodded approvingly "I like your technique, although I don't seem to understand it." You talked about today and the journey in general, about fighting and Erebor, about anything and everything you could think of.
When Bombur announced that dinner was ready, you all got up and in a queue to get something of the good smelling stew. When you sat down together again, Kili walked over to the side of his brother while wiggling his eyebrows and Thorin sat next to you, rolling his eyes over his nephew.
You smiled at him brightly and he gave you one in return, kissing your cheek (you loved to feel his beard on your skin). "Enjoy your meal!", you said "You too."
"What about the route for tomorrow? You discussed it for quite a while.", you asked and Thorin sighed "The orcs are coming closer, and they are quick. Gandalf said he knew someone around here where we could sleep at, but we had to change our route a little for that. Balin doesn't like that too much", he chuckled slightly and you smirked. "But there aren't any further complications, are there?" - "No.", he smiled and you continued talking while eating, subtly flirting a few times.
When you all got tired (which didn't take long), Bifur took the first night shift and you others prepared your sleeping spots. As you were with Thorin you prepared together: His coat on the floor that the fur pointed upwards, a scarf as a pillow, and your coat as blanket.
Thorin had already laid down and you snuggled into his arms, slinging one of your own around his middle, and laying your head on his arm. You could feel him smile against your forehead right before he planted a kiss on it.
"Sleep well", he whispered "I love you"
"I love you too." you whispered back.
Thorin tightened his grip around you a little but only as much that you would still be comfortable (which you were) and you both fell asleep, feeling safe in each other's arms.

Little Secret
Tumblr media
Request: Wonderful! Could please write an escenario in which y/n (half elf and half human) was part of the company cause Gandalf hired her. She and Kili fell for each other and secretly started courting. Once Erebor was reclaimed everything was going back to normal. Thorin asked her to stay for as long as she liked. When Fili & Kili's mom got there, she had lots of meetings with Thorin so y/n was not able to properly meet her. The day that they are actually introduced, Thorin announces Kili's and Fili's arranged marriages which took everyone by surprise. Y/n and Kili try to figure and fix things out in order to convince Thorin to put off the arrange marriage but it does not work. Therefore, y/n decides to leave Erebor and ends up leaving to Dale; befriending/ helping Bard and his kids.  During her time there she finds out that she was pregnant with Kili's child. However, she never notifies Kili nor goes to Erebor to announce it thinking that he had his duty as a prince and it would be harmful for him/ his arranged marriage. So, she makes the decision to raise the baby on her own. Time goes by and on a normal day (when she was 9 months pregnant) that she's walking around Dale  while feeling contractions she bumps into Kili. Thank you so much!❤️ Sorry for the long message 😅 - @just-a-dreamer23
A/N: I know, I know, this is soo long. But, I enjoyed writing this story!! I've been trying to overcome my lack of motivation to write, so maybe it isn't as good in some parts, as my other stories, but I wanted to keep it that way, so I hope you enjoy anyways.

The afternoon was hot. The best thing to do, was to take a nap. At least, in your opinion.
Nothing would attack in this heat, you thought, as you rested under a tree. A while after, you noticed pointy hat and grey cloak of the same colour. You lazily waved.
"Gandalf, long time no see!" Gandalf smiled at you.
"Good afternoon, Y/N." You stood up and looked at him, waiting. Gandalf never came just...for no reason.
"How are you doing?" Gandalf asked, and you shrugged.
"I'm just wandering around, as usual. You know me. I never stay in one place for too long." You said. Gandalf knew that, obviously. Being a child of an elf and a human, you felt like you never belong anywhere.
Elves felt really tense and quiet, and humans were quite loud for you, because of your hearing. And you aged lot slower than them, so making friends was also quite...not it.
"I've been looking for you, to join an adventure," You curiously gave him a look.
"An adventure? What kind of adventure?"
"Well," he looked at you.
"You know about Erebor and the line of Durin, right?" You frowned at him, and quickly shook your head.
"Gandalf, I can't-I can't join the dwarves! They will hate me! Everyone knows they hate the elves, and I'm half elf!" You said.
"Well, who said they will know? You owe me help," he reminded you. You thought back to when he healed you after orcs attacked you, and you sighed. He was right. This was the least you could do.
"And, who knows. Maybe they will like you," he gave you a look, and you folded your hands on your chest, and let out a sigh.
"Alright then. Where and when am I supposed to be?" He gave you all the information you needed. And you started your way to the Shire, looking at the first evening stars, as the starlight is what the Elves of Mirkwood love so much.
You got to the Shire around late afternoon after three days of traveling, and smiled. The hobbits and their houses were tiny, so you couldn't help, but smile. Maybe it won't be that bad, having perhaps a hobbit friend, after all...
-
You remembered the moment when you first met Kili. You thought Gandalf was there at Bilbo's house, but when you opened the door...
"Are you Master Boggins?" You frowned at the brunette dwarf.
"Do I look like a hobbit to you?" He looked at the other dwarf, then back at you, but there was Bilbo already.
Later on the journey, he found you without your cape on. It was your turn for bathing, but him and Fili forgot some their things at the river.
You just put off your cloak, and put your hair down from your headband. You heard steps, so you quickly turned around.
"You are..." Fili started.
"...an elf?" Kili finished. You huffed.
"Half elf. My mother was...human." you whispered. Painful memories of your early life came up, and you blinked to stop the tears.
"Don't tell anyone, please..." you looked at them. Both Fili and Kili must've seen something in your expression, that made them realize the importance. They nodded. Kili was, however, curious. Lot more than before, and asking you about elves. You talked about it when Thorin was far enought to not hear what was your conversations about, but it wouldn't matter much. Gandalf told them you spent part of your life living with the elves, which was true.
In fact, Kili became fascinated by you. He liked you before, and had a feeling, which he wasn't sure about. Interest, curiousity, the need to protect you, adoration...
In the moment he saw you, he realized you were his One, his love for life. And when you got closer, he asked you to court him. You said yes. From then on, you shared many quiet and stolen kisses and moments together, in the shadows of forests or your bedrooms in pubs.
The moment everyone else (except for Bilbo and the Durin brothers) found out, was when you came into Mirkwood. Thranduil ordered his guards to take your cloak and headband off, and now, everyone could see your pointy ears.
There was a moment of silence.
"What made an elf, to travel with group of dwarves?" You gulped and looked down.
"I'm a-a half elf," you whispered.
"My father was from here." You explained, and the king shot you a glare. He was not stupid. He knew you tried to pull his attention away.
"Take them to the dungeons, except for Oakenshield," he said.
When you made yourself as comfortable as you could on the cold floor, you overheard the dwarves trying to find out who you actually were and what you wanted.
To your surprise, they didn't talk about you in a bad way. Just curiousity. Thankfully.
-
"Do you think she will like me?" You said to Kili. He was writing a letter to his and Fili's mother, Dis, the happy news - Erebor was reclaimed, and they all survived. It's been a week since, and Thorin decided it was the right thing to let his sister know as soon as possible. She was surely worried.
Kili turned to you.
"Like you? Like you? She is going to love you," Kili grinned at you, and you had to smile a little too.
"Yeah, but...you know, I'm not a dwarf," you said your worry aloud. It was true. Being a half-elf, you and Kili started courting in secret. Thorin was not really kind to you, at least the first half of the journey. However, the rest of the Company liked you lot more. Especially Kili. After a while of knowing of what did you feel, you decided to tell him. To your surprise, but happiness, Kili shared those feelings. And since then, you had a tiny braid, hidden in your hair, and Kili as well.
And stole many, many secret kisses.
"I don't think mum is going to have issue with this," Kili stood up, and gently placed your hair behind your ear.
"You're my One, and you make me incredibly happy. I'm sure she won't have problem with you being half elf," You cupped his cheek, and softly smiled, as you looked deep in his kind brown eyes.
"I love you too, my short Prince," He stood on his toes and kissed you, getting a giggle from you. He pouted, when he heard you called him short, but you knew he didn't mind it.
You kissed him, and felt his smile on your lips. You were leaning down, when suddenly you lost balance, and both you and Kili ended up lying on the floor. Kili and you let out a yelp, but then broke into giggles.
"I love you," Kili said, when you finally stopped laughing. You cuddled into his chest and breathed in his scent. Kili smelled like smoke, food and fresh air.
"I love you too," Kili gently stroke your hair, and you got up.
"Where are you going?"
"You have to finish the letter, and I promised Tilda I will take a walk with her before the dinner." You helped Kili to get up.
"Alright my beloved, have a good time," he gently kissed you, and sat back to his desk. You smiled, and ruffled his hair.
"You too, my dearest." You smiled, and left the room.
-
It's been a few months, and you were finally, finally going to meet Kili and Fili's mother, Dis. She has been there for around two weeks by now, but, you haven't got the chance to meet her and be introduced to her yet.
You were officially going to meet her during upcoming celebration. Needless to say, you were freaking out.
Your stomach was tight from anxiety for a few days already, and that afternoon, it felt absolutely horrible. You haven't eaten whole day, just because all you thought about was the evening.
You spent around an hour of putting on and off different dresses from your wardrobe, trying to figure out which one to wear.
"Y/N?" Kili knocked on the door of your chambers.
"C'me in," you said. He came in, and his eyes widened, when he seen you sitting in front of the mirror, your eyes red and the mess everywhere.
"What am I supposed to wear? I have nothing to wear!" You started crying. All the stress and anxiety in past three months got the best of you. Random moments of crying, because of tiny things, were happening on daily basis.
"Dear, what is happening?" He pulled your hair back behind your ears.
"I-I just want-want your mum to like me," you muttered.
"And...it stresses me out." Kili nodded, and shortly hugged you.
"She is going to love you no matter which dress you wear, I promise." He whispered to your ear.
"Now, I think..." Kili looked around.
"I think the...the dark green dress will be perfect."
When you changed into the dress Kili picked you, Kili brushed and styled your hair. He pulled the top section into a clip, and you pulled a few strands, to frame your face. You smiled at yourself in the mirror.
"You ready?" Kili asked. You just silently nodded.
As you walked down the hall, Kili was trying to figure out where his uncle, brother and mother went to. He couldn't see them anywhere, and he was sure he was once in a while not late.
When you entered the huge throne room, you could see Fili, and let out a breath of relief.
"Fili, have you seen-"
"Kili, there you are," A woman came from behind Fili, and looked over her younger son.
"Have you brushed your hair?" Kili huffed.
"Of course I did." He said quietly, so nobody could hear him. He was visibly embarrassed, and you let out laugh. She suddenly turned to you. Her deep blue eyes reminded you Thorin, but they had the same twinkle as Kili and, occasionally, Fili.
"I don't remember I seen you here before," she said.
"Well, I usually spend my time outside of Erebor, so I think that might be it," You nervously smiled. She hummed.
"I-I'm not a part of the royal family," you said, and almost groaned. Now that was embarrassing for sure.
"Y/N, this is my and Kili's mum, Dis. Mum, this is Y/N," Fili said, and you felt your cheeks heat up.
"I-um-" You tried to say something, but she pulled you in short hug.
"Nice to meet you, Y/N," she gave you a smile, and then went back between the guests with Fili.
You let out a breath.
"That was embarrassing," you groaned. Kili chuckled.
"No, not at all. She likes you." It suddenly felt like it was much easier to breathe.
"She-she does?" Your eyes widened, and Kili nodded.
"Of course! And you can bet she will steal you to me during the evening,"
"How do you know that?" You turned to him with surprise written all over your face.
"She is my mother. I know her for a long time." He just said.
"She seems to be...different from Thorin," you said, hoping it wouldn't come out as offensive. Kili chuckled.
"Mum and Uncle really aren't that different. Uncle just focuses more on the kingdom and mum, on family," Kili said in low voice, so that only you could hear it.
When you sat down to the table, where the royal family and the Company was, you looked around. You and Kili did secretly hold hands under the table, and you talked to Dis, who was sitting across the table.
"Good evening, everyone," Thorin said, and the people got more quiet.
"It's my pleasure to meet all of you here today. I have some things to say, before the celebration starts." Thorin paused, and Kili leaned near you with a grin.
"It's just a few formalities, don't worry, love." You smiled at him back with tight smile. You felt something was not right. Thorin talked about the kingdom a little at first. The next news was, however, what you were afraid of.
"I'm very happy to say, my nephew Fili is going to marry-" you let out a breath. Kili turned to you with worry.
"Do you feel okay?" He asked, when suddenly...
"And my nephew Kili, who also has already arranged marriage, with-"
Kili stared at Thorin, and you as well.
"Kili-Kili, please-" you tried to stop Kili from going to Thorin. Kili was visibly angry, his jaw was tight, and body tense.
"Kili? What is happening?" Thorin came and let through his teeth. You suddenly felt everyone's eyes on you.
"I need some fresh air," you whispered and walked away, as quickly as you could. When you left, you came in your chambers, kneeled to your bed, and started crying.
You knew it. You should've known before.
Thorin would do this. Even when Fili and Kili were children, he would make sure they had wives already. They were princes. They needed to have a wife.
And Thorin...Thorin would never allow Kili to court you or marry you.
The next day, Kili came into your room. He had dark circles under his eyes, and gave you weak smile.
"I promise we will work this out," he muttered, and pulled you close to his chest.
Kili was asleep - and you let him - but, you thought about your situation, and tried to come up with possible solutions.
However, it was as if there weren't any.
It's been a few days, and you cuddled into your blanket. You fell asleep, and when you woke up, you looked around the room.
This place isn't for me anymore, you thought, and started packing your clothes into your bag. You changed into tunic and trousers, and wrote a letter to Kili, that you were sorry, but it was probably better to have a wife his Uncle would like, that you were leaving and never coming back, so he shouldn't be looking for you.
You quietly left the palace, and walked out in the morning. The air was fresh and nice, and for a moment, you forgot your sadness.
You walked to Dale, and decided to meet Bard. You had nowhere to go, and maybe staying there would be good, before you'd go...somewhere else.
The guards let you in, and as you thought of going to Rivendell, you noticed Bard.
"Bard?" He turned to you, and nodded at you.
"Hi Y/N. What brings you here?" You sighed.
"I'm leaving Erebor, Bard...but the problem is, I need to think about of where-" you suddenly felt dizzy, and Bard catched you. He called for a healer, that's what your hazy mind could catch.
You basically woke up, in a room. On a bed. Comfortable bed.
"Lie still, lady Y/N," the healer said. You frowned a little, when she placed her ear to your stomach.
"I can hear the heartbeat clearly. The baby is most likely around three months old," she said.
"What baby?" You asked, confused. You looked from the healer to Bard and Bard to healer. She took your hands in hers.
"You don't know, my lady? You are pregnant. I can clearly hear the heartbeat of your child," she softly smiled at you. You shook your head, and felt a few tears escaping your eyes.
"I'm...I'm with child," you whispered. You could not believe it. So perhaps, it wasn't just stress...
"Who is the father?" The healer asked, when she helped you to sit up. You nervously looked in your lap.
"Kili. Prince...Kili. Kili Durin." You said, and Bard and the healer shared a look.
"He...he doesn't know. Can we keep it a secret? Please?" You looked at them.
They said yes. Bard was like a father to you, and let you stay. He showed you chambers, that would be your home for next few months at least.
You never went back to Erebor. You thought Kili had to marry the princess, so you just tried to think of the baby you were carrying.
It wasn't that hard, honestly. The baby was often restless, though.
As if it missed Kili as much as you did...
Even if the baby would have to grow up without it's biological dad, you were sure you'd be able to take care of them well.
Some days, you were happy, and didn't think of Kili too much. It pained you, yes, and you knew you had to be strong for the baby, so you often asked someone to teach you something, such as how to prepare different meals, how to knit or how to play piano, to name a few.
Other days, you felt sad. It could be because of the weather, or hormones, some days you just woke up sad, and sometimes it was when something reminded you of Kili. Those days, the baby was the most restless, and the maids told you it was because the baby missed it's father.
You sat down to the armchair next to the window in your bedroom, and looked out on the street. Nobody could see you from here, so it made you feel safe. You looked up and seen Erebor.
"There's your daddy, over there," you whispered to the baby.
The answer you got, was soft kick.
-
"Does it hurt?" Sigrid asked you, looking at your belly. You smiled at her.
"No, it doesn't." You stroke your stomach. You've been pregnant for past almost nine months. Bard was so kind and let you stay, and even offered you bigger chambers, which you gladly agreeded to. The chambers were perfect size, and the baby could have their own small room, overtime.
You let out shaky breath. You wanted Kili to know about all of this. To be there with you, talk to you and to the baby.
But, it was not possible. It would hurt his reputation, and perhaps even his marriage.
You dried your tears, and carefully stood up. Even as pregnant, you were able to stand up yourself, luckily quite easily. You felt very thankful for some of your genes being from the elves, because, as Bard explained to you, humans had it harder.
When you slowly got yourself out of the castle, you breathed in. The air smelled nicely - you smelled fresh bread, old leaves, fresh air from the lake. Mix of summer and autumn. You felt it was one of the last few warm days, before the typical autumn comes.
You looked around, and your cravings were begging you for some freshly baked, soft warm bread with fresh butter, melting on top of it. You thought of the crispiness of the bread's crust, and your mouth started watering. You groaned, when you felt how your stomach let you know some snack would come handy.
You slid your hand to your pocket, and made sure you have enough money.
You started walking, to find some bakery, and as you looked around, you noticed one on the other end of the street.
You let out a breath, and started walking towards the small store.
You were almost there, when you overheard a gasps, escaping a few young girls. You slowed down and listened to their conversation.
"Did you see him?"
"Yes, I did. Do you think it really is the Prince?"
"Of course he is! I mean, look at him. I'd recognize the hair clip everywhere." You frowned a little, when you suddenly realized it. You stopped walking, and felt hot wave running down your back, and liquid running down your leg.
You carefully looked down. It was clear.
You turned around, and - damn it! - your eyes locked with Kili's in the exact moment.
He started walking towards you. You clearly recognized happiness in his eyes, and relief.
"Y/N, where have you been those past months? I was worried about you," He said, and when he was near you, you recognized even the wet shine in his chocolate eyes. You felt sudden rush of guilt.
He must have notice the guilt on your face. Kili frowned a little, when he took a notice of your belly, under the dress.
"I-you..." You noticed it. He was holding back tears. You shook your head, as you tried to hold your own.
"Kili, it isn't like this...please trust me!" You felt another wave of heat running down your back, and stepped forward, but sudden dizzines made you take wrong step. Kili quickly catched you.
"Kili, I-this is, uh..."
"You moved on," he said. You shook your head.
"No, it's...you are the father," you said, but didn't notice what was his reaction, because suddenly, you realized what was going on, as you were holding your belly.
"I need to get back, and find a healer and midwife," you let out through your gritted teeth.
"We will get there quickly," Kili let out, and you had a feeling.
"Don't you dare to faint!" You let out.
Kili helped you to get back. You noticed Sigrid, and told her to quickly find healer. She didn't ask anything, and quickly runned away. You let out a groan and gripped Kili's arm.
"Lady Y/N, we need to get you to the room prepared for labour," the healer said, and checked on your belly.
When you got there, and changed into simple gown, you laid down as the healer told you.
Kili stayed there, and you were gripping his arm and hand.
"I'm not fucking letting you to sleep with me ever again," you said through gritted teeth. Kili took a shaky breath, and you shot him a glare.
"Don't you dare to faint, Kili Durin! You did put this baby inside me nine months ago, so now-"
"This is just the pain speaking from Lady Y/N, Prince Kili. Don't take it personally," Kili gulped and nodded.
"You're doing great, love," he said carefully. You let out a huff.
"I didn't finish! Now you will deal with me breaking your arm, because it hurts!" You almost yelled at him.
"I can see the head, my Lady!" The healer smiled.
"With this next contraction, you will push as much as you can!" The healer said.
"Okay, one, two, three-push!"
"You're doing great, dear. The baby is almost there," Kili tried to cheer you up.
"You have no idea how painful it is!" You screamed.
"My lady, this is going to be your last push, are you ready?" The healer looked up at you, and you nodded.
"One, two, three, push!" The healer let out. You gripped Kili's hand, and suddenly...
You heard a baby scream.
"It's a girl!" The healer said happily. You smiled, and let out some happy tears.
"You-you did it!" Kili said, and you wiped off your eyes.
"No, we did it," you muttered, and he kissed your cheek.
"How do you feel, Y/N?"
"I'm okay," you smiled. The midwife checked on you, and handed you your baby.
"Everything seems to be in order," she said and smiled. You smiled at her back. She was there for you for all those months, and you got close.
"Thank you so much," She nodded.
"I'll leave you alone," she said, and left.
You stroke the baby's cheek.
"How are we going to name her?" Kili whispered, and stroke the baby's chubby cheek. You shrugged.
"Well...I'm not sure. I was thinking of Arina," you said.
"It's...it's beautiful name," Kili said, and you realized he was crying.
"Kili...I'm so sorry for...for hiding it from you," you whispered. Kili shook his head.
"Love...it isn't your fault. Can I...can I hug you?" You nodded, and he slid his arm around your shoulders.
"If anything, it's my fault." He muttered.
"I should've known where did you go, and-"
"Shh," you said.
"We can talk about that later. Arina's asleep now."
You were quietly watching the baby. The midwife came back soon, to check on you and the baby, and when she left, Kili spoken up.
"We talked Uncle the marriges out." You nodded.
"You left Erebor by then already. I was looking everywhere for you, only if I knew-" you subtly interrupted him.
"I didn't know either. I wanted to go to Rivendell, but...then, I found out. It would be risky, so Bard let me stay here," You shrugged.
"Do you still want to leave, though?" Kili looked at you with sad eyes, when he looked away from your daughter. You shook your head.
"No." Kili grinned, and gently brushed his hand over your cheek.
"Just for your information...mum was going nuts when she found out about the arranged marriges. She likes you a lot." You smiled, and took Kili's hand in yours.
"Well...let's hope she likes her too," You looked at Arina's sleeping face.
You came back the next day. Kili had to go to Erebor that evening, but in the morning, he came back.
When you entered, you overheard a strong female voice. You quickly realized who was the woman.
"I don't care my brother has a meeting. Go tell him he has to come here. It's a family emergency," she said, and turned to you and Kili.
"Y/N, where have you-oh, who is this?" Dis turned to you, and noticed the baby. You shared a look with Kili.
"This is your granddaughter," You said carefully. Dis looked between you and Kili, and it seemed like most things clicked to her. She smiled.
"Well..."
"Dis, what does that means?" Thorin's voice came from different hall, and you noticed Fili giving you a knowing smile.
"Thorin..." you said, and he turned to you. He seemed to be confused, but then he looked at Arina.
"What does this-"
"Uncle, let's get some privacy first," Fili said.
When you came to library, Thorin turned to you. Dis stood up, as if she would want to protect you.
"Uncle...Y/N and I started courting on the quest in secret. We planned to get married, but when you announced the arranged marriges for me and Fili, we-"
"I left Erebor, because I thought you would never accept me as partner for your nephew, Thorin. I found out I was pregnant, however, I didn't want to hurt Kili's reputation or his marrige, so I never came back to announce it. He met me in Dale yesterday, and I, um...I went to labour." Thorin has been looking at you and Kili. Your body was tense, and Fili, Kili and Dis were ready to protect you any moment.
Thorin slowly closed this eyes, and placed his face into his palms. When he looked up again, he let out a sigh.
"Fili, Kili, sister, leave us alone."
"But Uncle-" Fili said, but Thorin shook his head.
"I said, leave us alone. It won't be long." They three left, and you were a bit afraid.
"Kili is a prince, yes. But, he is also a dwarf, who needs to have someone who he is happy with." Thorin said, looking away from you.
"I noticed, of course. You make him happy, Y/N. I thought it was just childish love, that you would leave, and it would break Kili's heart. I owe you honest apology, Y/N. For thinking you wouldn't take his love seriously." He looked at you, and you let out a small smile. You nodded.
"Apology accepted, Thorin. Courting Kili makes me incredibly happy, and I am honored to say he is my lover," you said, and Thorin looked at you.
"Well, and when it comes to, um...you staying, you can stay here. If you would like to."
"I'd be very thankful."
A few years later
"Fi, look!" Kili said, as Arina walked towards Kili, again. She was giggling, as her father was dancing with her. You laughed.
"Kili, be careful!"
"Daddy, look!" The little girl pointed to a butterfly, who sat on her dress.
"Yeah, it's beautiful," Kili said, and she pouted.
"Don't move, or it will fly away!" Arina let out, and let the butterfly gently walk on her palm.
"Uncle, look, I got a butterfly!" Arina showed it to Fili, who nodded with nervous face.
"Oh, it's beautiful, Ari. Would you put it, um, a bit away from me, please?" She put the butterfly on a flower, and Fili let out a breath.
"I'm sleepy, mommy." She came to you, and lean her head on your shoulder.
"Ari?" A little boy came, and the girl jumped up with grin.
"Vili!" She squealed, and started tickling her cousin.
"Granny!" Arina gasped, when she noticed Dis.
"You are growing up so fast, Ari!" She said proudly, and you two shared a look.
"Aye, that's what she does," Kili let out a chuckle, and gently kissed your cheek.

WORD COUNT:1929 (whoop, look at me)
Edited on 2/22/22
WARNINGS: of hunting, house burning,
A/N:- I appreciate everyone commenting in my last post. It truly helped a lot. And to show my love for you all, I’m gonna do a double chapter posting.
SUMMARY:L.D gets to know the company as best as she can
Official pairing: Thorin Oakenshield x Fem!OC*
Tumblr media
READ THE REST HERE - > Chp.2 , Chp. 1
_____________
We traveled on for another day, riding from dawn till dusk. Luckily enough I was able to doze off for a couple hours during the second night. Thorin still has yet to assign me or Bilbo to watch duty, but I kind of figured he wouldn't just yet. It is hard to trust a stranger, a faceless one even more so than that.
Gandalf had pulled me aside early on the 2nd morning,
"Do you ever plan on telling the rest of our company your identity?" He spoke softly even though we were far enough away from the others.
I shook my head. "I do not know." I spoke softly in a small whisper. Gandalf let out a big sigh, " Do you ever get tired of it? Of hiding."
" I am not hiding myself." Tightening Hithui's saddle straps. "I am merely trying to avoid the inevitable."
"No one could possibly blamed you for wh-."
"I know that." I turned harshly towards him, " but it doesn't help the way people stare at me either." I lowered my head glancing at the ground between us.. "Besides, I don't care what they think of that, it has more to do with the fact of me, being a woman, I want to prolong them knowing."
Gandalf sighed again as he made his way over to stand by his horse, who was resting near us. "I do agree with the fact that dwarfs might not handle the knowledge of you, being a woman very well, but it has to do more with the fact that there are not many dwarf women around. They have been taught to be protective of them."
"That's not helpful." I let out a small laugh and Gandalf smiled softly.
"However, they are also taught to respect them.” Mounting his horse, he moved closer, speaking softer. “They are fast learners of change ‘L.D’. I say at least give them a chance to react."
~
And….He was right. It was unfair of me to judge the dwarfs and Bilbo on the actions of past others. Yet, How can I know that? And how can I be sure that they'll keep my secret? I needed to let myself get to know them, yet I wasn’t sure how I was supposed to do that? It harder because I know my voice would give it all away. So after some thought I decided that the only way was to watch them all more closely and learn more through observation then verbal exchange.
I started this morning by riding in the middle of the line, putting myself in the pathways of various conversations. Listening as they all talked to one another, and taking mental notes of each dwarf and hobbit behaviors.
Starting with Bofur, I realized that he could probably out last Fili and Kili when it comes to talking for great lengths and his hilarities. Something I did not think at all possible. He talked nearly the whole day, stopping to only to take puffs out of his pipe. He told great tales and silly stories to literally anyone who would listen.
‘‘If I’m not back in 5 minutes, she called, just wait a little longer.” Behind us, I heard Bifur ask him something in Khuzdul. “Oh No, Bifur I’m afraid, they are still waiting on her.”
After a bit, I noticed a small squeaking noise, turning around I noticed Bifur holding a mechanical toy.
“Tinkers, and Toy-makers.” Balin’s word’s that night came rushing back to me at that moment as my jaw drop slightly in awe.
Noticing my stare, Bifur smiled proudly as he lifted up his work for me to see. It was a small, metal bird and even with the distance between us, I could make out all the small details of feathers in the wings and beast. He pulled on the string that hung down the middle of the bird’s body making the same small squeak, the wings began moving in a flapping motion. Bifur only left out a deep grunt at the noise and moved the toy back, murmuring to himself in Khuzdul again.
"Don't mind him." Spoke Bofur, who seemed to have watched the small encounter. **" He's just a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to his work. Now where was I- Oh Yes! Now that it's been 3 years since she left-.”
As the day continued I found myself stuck in another conversation. Oin and Gloin have probably been talking the entire day too but just mainly to each other so I hadn’t noticed till now.
As I listened in I realized their conversation was on the company’s medical supplies, Oin was concerned that he didn’t pack enough bandages for all the members of the company, having not expected 2 extras to join.
Digging through one of my satchels, I hooked it off Hithui’s saddle bag and I gently ushered her closer to the pair. Once in reaching distance I tapped the older dwarf on the shoulder.
He jumped slightly as he turned sharply in his sandals to look out at me, before he opened his mouth. I held out the small bag to him. Confused, he took it and moved around to take a peek inside.
Gasping softly, he looked back at me “Are you sure?” I nodded and held out my hand towards him and back to my chest in a slight bow.
“No no, Thank you L.D” Oin smiled softly before turning to his confused brother. He pulled out one of the many bandages that I had stored anyway over the years of my travels and smiled broadly.
“This should give us plenty.” Gloin’s eyes widened before looking back at me again, they then softened slightly before he began to crack a smile
“Aye, I guess we have to keep you around now.”
When Thorin finally called it for the night, I took a moment while everyone was setting up camp to check around for any wild game. Grabbing my bow and quiver, I made my way through the thick brush surrounding the brush. Turns out there is plenty of game around, and luckily enough I was able to snag a deer and a couple of rabbits.
I stringged up the rabbits through a rope and shrugged the deer over my shoulders and then started the trek back up towards the group.
When I finally made it back up towards the clearing, Ori noticed me immediately and brought me to the attention of the other’s.
“Mahal's Beam!” he jumped up from his spot “Look at all of that!” All eyes fell upon me as I lowered my head again to make sure my face was still hidden.
“By My Beard” gasped Dwalin as he moved to help carry the rabbits, grabbing them from my hand. “Where did ya get all of that?”
I stepped around him to bring the deer to the middle of the camp. I jokingly pointed over my shoulder at the opening into treeline where I came from. Causing laughter to spread through the group.
Bombur looked up at me even more shocked than Dwalin, once I made my way over to him. He then bends down to examine the deer, fingering the hole on the deer’s side.
"Well will you look at that! Now that's a deer." he spoke in a low baritone voice.
"Aye laddie that deer must weigh at least 2 of you!" cheered Bofur. The buck was one of the bigger ones I saw in the herd, a 5 point and from the ache in my back I have to say it was at least 67kgs. To express this I placed a hand down on his shoulder before holding my back with the other.
Now everyone tought that was hilarious, I even caught Bilbo chuckling to himself in the corner next to Gandalf. dipped my head in a shy attempt of brushing off their attention before I went to pull out my dagger to start skinning process for the rabbits.
"Oh, no, no! You have done more than enough for us, we can manage that at the very least." The older dwarf said assuredly while patting the smooth belly of the deer again.
I smiled before I dipped my head again in thanks, before heading back over to I laid some of my stuff out before I left, just on the edge of the camp, I was just close enough and just far enough away from all the others.
And while I watched them all go back to their destinated spots, I realized for the first time since leaving for the Shire, I started to feel relaxed.
Off to the side I heard Gandalf speak proudly to the others. "See! I told you there was more to our dear, L.D than meets the eye" I just happened to look over in time to meet his gaze. Winking at me, I could let out a small smile and shake my head at him.
At dinner, I was shot with even more thank you’s, and compliments. It was nice having them all thank me for such an easy thing. I have hunted plenty for myself and others and none of them have shown me such gratitude before.
"You did good, Cloak"
I was so deep in my thoughts and the food, that I didn't even realize who spoke till I saw the small smiles and side eyes from the others. Thorin was standing next to Bombur as the dwarf filled his bowl. He nodded back at me when I looked at him. Giving him a quick nod of acknowledgement, I had to look away.
~
The next morning, everyone was in a far more cheery mood with all their bellies still full from the night before, and for the rest that got divided up for breakfast. I was surprised that none of them have fallen into a food enhanced deep sleep yet.
Today, I seemed to have been granted the opportunity to ride up closer to the front next to Balin. The old dwarf was clearly a kind one, as he offered up nothing more than caring words and simple small talk as we traveled along. Seeing as I could only nod and shake my head in response he never seemed upset by the silence. Dwalin, who rode out in front of us, even joined in ever so often into our limited conversation.
Even the cheery mood seemed to have reached Thorin, for smiled over his shoulder as he called for an early camp. As I dismounted Hithui, handing her off to a smiling Ori, I noticed a small burned down farmhouse that stood up on the hill. Gandalf noticed to and gestured for me to follow, I followed behind as he entered what seemed to be the doorway.
"A farmer and his family lived here." he whispered softly, I went to move my hand across one of the sooty planks of woods, it was still slightly warm to the touch.
"This place was only burned down yesterday," I whispered to Gandalf, as I showed him the ash on my fingers.
The old wizard turned to the company, who was busy setting up camp. "I think it best if we keep moving. The Hidden Valley is near-" he was quickly cut off by Thorin.
"I refuse to set foot in there," he growled .Frankly I didn’t want to go to Rivendell either but it was a good idea. I was shocked by how quick his reply was to Gandalf’s request.
Gandalf glared back . "I did not give you that map and key to-"
"I did not know they were yours to keep," Thorin snapped, glaring back at the wizard and that was the end of the discussion.
Gandalf huffed angrily to himself and he turned to head back back the path towards his horse. Bilbo looked up as he passed. "What's wrong? Gandalf? Where are you going?"
"To be alone with the only person who has sense in this company." he barked back angrily, Bilbo seeming shocked by Gandalf's harsh tone involuntarily took 2 steps back.
"Who?” the hobbit squeaked
"Myself, Mr. Baggins." With that I watched as my old friend and the only one who knew who I was ride away.
"Gloin, get a fire going," Thorin commanded, still very clearly irritated. I turned to face hi., just in time to see him turn to me. I threw my hands up in mock-surrendhim. I didn't want to be involved and moved to walk back down the hill towards the others. I heard him take a deep breath before he spoke.
“I didn’t mean to run him off.” Turning back to him, I nodded my head in an understanding, his shoulders shagged. Continuing back down the hill I moved to take my spot at the edge of the camp circle. Untucking my bedroll, I went ahead and laid down, looking up toward the sky just as the golden hour began to hit.

Hello! Long time no see honey! I saw those hilarious Y/N headcanons you wrote for beenovel and I wanted to join the parade!
So firstly, I have this really weird habit of just,, accidentally calling people couple's nicknames. One of the most common is "Honey". I do it without even noticing because I'm often in a comforting or advice-giving role so it just comes out.
I like to imagine what the Fellowship or Company's reactions to that would be. Because I imagine that Dwarves wouldn't take nicknames too lightly and would see it as an honor or something, so to hear Y/N call them honey would probably be really flustering and confusing.
The Hobbits would probably just be really bashful or cheery about it. I can see Sam or Frodo blushing bright cherry red and Merry calling them nicknames back
Legolas would probably a little confused. I can see the tips of his ears going bright red and that's an adorable thought. Aragorn would probably just smile and chuckle a little bit. Boromir would be internally screaming because he doesn't know what they mean by that, but very flattered nonetheless. Maybe throwing back some cute or flirty remarks of his own.
What do you think (honey, haha)?
it’s so nice to hear from you! <3 and YES so glad to see you join the parade! i adore asks like this- thinking about it and writing them is so fun and i always love the lighthearted/funny/fluffy prompts! (btw im very touched that you found them hilarious hehe) so never hesitate to send them my way!
also before i start i just want to say YOU ARE MY FAVORITE TYPE OF PERSON!!! i adore being called pet names/endearments,, it makes my heart just melt- and honey is one of my favorites!!
i’m going to do the company because i do so love those dwarves (and hobbit!) ;)
i digress… onto the headcanons!
————
how the company would react to being called pet names such as “honey”:
- thorin
does a massive double take
like a “are you talking to me?” kinda face
when you see this you lowkey get kinda scared so you start to apologize
“oh i’m so sorry- i didn’t mean to, it just slipped out- forget i said that-”
until thorin cuts you off with a gruff “don’t trouble yourself over it”
and as he turns to walk away, you could have sworn you saw a blush covering his bearded cheeks and a small smile fighting to take over his face
- bilbo
literally turns bright red
his eyes get really big
shuffles his feet and avoids your eyes
cant help the smile that grows on his face
cant help but stare at you in wonder all day
because being called those sweet nicknames reminds him of his gentle late mother
and makes him feel treasured and special
- balin
gives you a bright smile
his eyes hold a twinkle
definitely has already been calling you things like “my dear” so you don’t sweat it
it kinda becomes like… you guys’ thing
“thanks gramps” (sometimes your nicknames are a bit more silly)
“of course my dear”
- dwalin
dwalin looks a bit constipated
he gets super red
definitely gets teased by fíli and kíli and you think that he is going to join in
but he growls at them to shut it
and when you look over shocked, he shrugs and gives you a sly wink
- óin
despite his hearing impairment, óin somehow manages to hear your embarrassing slip up
he studies you for a minute
and when he realizes you were being sincere and sweet he smiles at you fondly
- glóin
he is very drunk when this happens
and immediately bursts into tears and starts wailing about how “amad used to call me that, mahal rest her soul”
and you awkwardly side hug him and pat him on the head while he talks about what a sweet soul you are
- fíli
gives you a cocky smile and just winks at you over his shoulder
responds with his own endearment for you in khuzdul
- kíli
it’s interesting because his normally confident and outgoing personality completely disappears when being called sweet names
he gets all shy and blushy and stumbles over his words
he rubs the back of his head and steals glances at you, looking much younger than he normally is
you instantly feel the need to protect this sweet guy
and from then on you make sure to call him endearments as often as possible
just to see his adorable smile
- dori
dori is always taking care of everyone else so for you to be all comforting and sweet is weird for him
but weird in a good way
he really enjoys getting to feel like that, even for a second in passing
so, to thank you, he makes sure you get the best cup of tea that night
- nori
is shocked for a minute
but quickly covers it up with a cheeky wink as he slings an arm around your shoulders
and responds calling you “honey” back ;)
- ori
literally doesn’t know how to react
drops whatever is in his hands and looks like a deer in the headlights
he later bothers you about the meaning behind pet names and takes notes in his journal
when he says goodnight to you that evening, he presses a chaste kiss to your cheek before he flees to his bedroll, his face bright red
- bifur
grunts happily with a smile on his face as he chirps happily in khuzdul and ruffles your hair
- bofur
not taken aback at all, though he is happily surprised
because it feels like a milestone in your friendship
he has been calling you pet names since like, the first day he met you (his favorite being “darlin’ ”)
- bombur
sweet guy becomes even more shy
he definitely calls you endearments too
you have basically been adopted and added to his massive brood of children

For the mashuo fic: 42. The Big Damn Kiss with 55. Established Relationship uvu
Straight to fluff huh?
After months of travelling and fighting for their lives the company finally could rest. Well not exactly since their new old home needed a lot of work to be called home properly again. Thorin and his dwarves were more than willing to make this work. And a hobbit of course that now had the luck to call 'his'. Love was the last thing he expected to find in the quest but here they were, closer than ever after much talking and words and actions of forgiveness. Thorin wanted more than anything to make Bilbo happy as Bilbo wanted the same for Thorin. Truly, their bond was strong and their courting guaranteed to succeed.
Only if Thorin wasn't a coward.
Because he was. Although there were all the signs of Bilbo having the same feelings and desires as him (and Bilbo had reassured him about that many times already) he couldn't be sure that this happiness would last. It was too much for someone like him and sure life would show him its ugly side again. But the hobbit made him wanting to believe in his happiness too and fight for it. And he never backed out from a battle.
One important step in dwarven courting was the kiss or at least a demonstration of mutual affection in front of the people to make their love known to the community, a part of it and not something to hide. With time the tradition asked only for a kiss (at first it could be even a hug or braiding hair and wouldn't that be fortunate for Thorin since he already did hug Bilbo, of course not under these circumstances but details). And it's not like they had never kissed, no of course not. Since their first kiss after Thorin waking up (and how desperate but soft it was and how it tasted salty because of their combined tears the dwarf will never forget it) many more came but always in private. The hobbit was sensitive on this topic and that was another reason why Thorin was so anxious about this tradition. Will Bilbo hate it? Will Bilbo regret the courting? So many fears and stress in a burdened mind.
Bilbo knew about the kiss. Balin had informed him in details all the courting traditions of dwarrow and Thorin himself answered him any additional questions he had (although many of them had made the king blink in confusion as it never occurred him why or he had even forgotten many of the traditions- he never believed he would ever use them but jokes on him now as he's betrothed to the most curious man he ever met). However, the fact that he was aware of it didn't mean he would be in favour of it. His One was a self-contradictory character and it would be a grave mistake to assume anything about him.
Today it was a day for celebration, a feast for the dwarves of Ered Luin who had finally returned home. One of them was Princess Dis of course who became surprisingly close to Bilbo and after being reassured of his character and purposes, she gladly welcomed him in the family and called him 'brother'. The hobbit had teared but blamed the dust and left searching for a handkerchief. Thorin was beyond moved with his sister's warm reaction and his beloved's happiness. Which is why she pressured him more than anyone to finally do the damn kiss now that all the dwarves were here and would have no other option than to accept the hobbit. Easier said than done.
The dishes were about to be served, music stopped so the King could give his speech, with his family and betrothed of course next to him. The speech was long for everyone's taste (Thorin thought was a decent length) and when finally finished everyone stared at the royal couple, waiting. Like the ravens stared at your hand waiting for their food. Like Thorin wasn't nervous enough.
As seconds passed the atmosphere became more and more awkward, as well as Dis' frown and Thorin's sweat. Now it would be a good time for an army of orcs to attack or elves! He would accept elves even!
His torture ended when Bilbo held his hands gently and stood up to face Thorin and give him a reassuring smile. And as this loving face approached him more and more that's all Thorin needed to lower a bit and finally let their lips met.
He expected a soft, chaste kiss and be done with it but once again realized that it was a grave mistake to assume anything from this creature. The kiss became more and more deep, hot and passionate as Blibo's tongue searched for his and the smaller hands hold tightly the larger and made small caressing on his knuckles. For everyone else it looked like the king gave a loving kiss to his future consort but for Thorin felt like he was a prey, captured and slowly consumed by his perpetrator.
Not that he minded in the slightest.
The kiss ended and the crowd claooed and the feast continued as it should, with dishes and drinks served and music covered the laughs and cheers of the people.
Thorin's face became even redder as Bilbo, having the same shade of red on his cheeks, reached to whisper in his ear. "For more you have to wait later. Without all these prying eyes."
And if the royal couple left earlier than usual, no one bit an eye and continued the feast until morning. As Thorin and Bilbo did too.

I'll give up my kingdom for you
Tumblr media
Hello darling! Thank you so so much for the offer to write me something, that absolutely means the world to me. Could you please write something about Fili or one of the lotr men (Aragorn, Faramir, Eomer, your choice) caring for their chronically ill s/o post-surgery. Not only am I getting surgery, but I'm also pretty ill as-is, so I need to rest a lot and take it easy. If you have any questions about symptoms or anything feel free to message me hun. Thanks so much, I hope you're doing really well!
For: @tolkien-fantasy
Fili x reader
As soon as Fili heard about  his love being sick. He dropped what he was doing  immediately, heading  back to their chambers where she was laid up in bed. knowing that she had her jaw surgery the next day that wasn't going to stop him from being there for his love. He was taking care of her the best he could Fili did everything she wanted or needed whether it was getting her some food or any type of medicine or just giving her cuddles whatever she wanted he was trying to get her to be as comfortable as possible to not worry about the surgery "fili I'm fine you  don't have to  do this you kingdom needs  you" y/n said  as he  wrapped his arms around her  so carefully. "They can wait, I'm not going anywhere. I'm sure Thorin can handle this by himself. Besides What's a king without his Queen? I would give my entire Kingdom to be with you. Now you need to rest. If you need anything I'll be right here"
~Post surgery~
Fili and Kili waited outside for hours, Fili was worried out of his mind about his wife until his little brother came over and reassured him that everything would be fine and that y/n is in good hands. His brother was right he had nothing to worry about but it's still worried him he couldn't lose her without her he wouldn't know what to do not too long after one of the doctors came out same that the surgery went extremely well but nothing was damaged that everything was perfectly fine an update could see her but to keep quiet if she was still asleep fili  bolted in as soon as the doctor said that they could see her his little brother on the other hand did not get the idea to just run off to the room the youngest durin son thanked the doctor  and  heads to tell the others she's ok that way would give the both of them time together fili rushed into see her sleeping figure in the bed not long after she woke up she turned her head to see him sitting there he smiled noticing that she woke up kissing the top of her head and then her hand she tried to move but was in too much pain and you stopped her from trying to sit up anymore "don't love  your  going to hurt yourself" "I need some water" she wrote down  on the notepad beside  her he nods getting up and getting her some water she takes the glass from him drinking it. He  takes  it once she's done.
~coming home ~
It has been a few days since the surgery and everything has been going very well and y/n I was able to go home fili picture of carrying her as best as he could she did try protesting moving her hands to push him away because she  couldn't talk but he was not having any of it "as long as I'm here and your recovering I'll carry you" he said as he entered the little cottage that was right outside of Erebor taking her and laying her down to bed every so often the others from the company would check in on her every once in awhile Kili would bring her flowers bombur would make pies and even Bilbo would come and bring her some herbs that he knew would help her with the pain for her recovery. Every night Fili made bone broth  or any type of liquid that she could  have so she didn't have to get up and hurt herself. All he wanted her to do is rest. "I'll make your broth so  you don't have to amralime" he said, kissing  her cheek sweetly and cooked the bone broth like Bombur showed him. That night they enjoyed  the presence of each other reminiscing on old times  and childhood  memories, all of the memories which were from both her writing it down on paper and even the memories that they had together and he didn't care what he did as long as  she was by his side.

Chapter 1: The company
Chapter 2: The Journey Begins
I pulled the rope, fastening my bag to one of the ponies. I didn't speak to anyone the next morning, besides no one was going to try to talk to me anyway. The company would only speak to their kin, and as I passed by heading to the front of the line I was given dirty looks. Except for Kili, he smiled and waved but his brother shoved his arm down, scolding him for even looking my way. I sighed and walked past some more dwarves, and each scowl gave me a funny feeling in my heart. I couldn't understand what it was, but it hurt deeply, like knives to my soul.
"Y/n." Gandalf greeted me with a smile, letting me pass by. "Once we're out of the shire, you will scout ahead and report anything back to us." He leaned down slightly, so I could only hear. "We're also making a bet on if Bilbo is coming, wish to participate?" I looked towards the rest, they all seemed to be having fun. The talk of the Hobbit showing up again brought them entertainment.
"No, we're heading into a dark path Gandalf. If I were to partake in their silly affairs I'd only ruin the fun." He groaned, standing up straight to get on his horse.
"You know, it won't hurt to have a little bit of fun. You'll be riding with Thorin, for now, being in the front will give you the advantage to take in your surroundings." He was right, in the front of the line I would be able to listen to the woods, there was something dark out there. Something will be following us, I don't know what, but whatever it is it's not good.
"Are you sure he's alright with the idea of me riding with him?" He grimaced at the question, I should have figured Thorin wasn't going to accept it.
"He's not happy, just don't antagonize him and you'll be alright." My very presence puts him on edge, speaking of the devil he came up behind me with those blue orbs piercing into mine. He didn't say a word to me, he just climbed onto his pony looking ahead. Hesitantly I go to climb on but his hand stretched out, he was waiting for me to take it.
"Hurry up we don't have all day." He growled, quickly I pulled myself on and sat in front of him. I gasped at his warmth, it felt nice with his chest against my back. "Lead." His gruff voice made me shiver, I kicked the pony lightly and she went off. We made our way down the path, passing multiple Hobbits that were nearby. One was a child, a small girl about half the size of me. She waved with a wide grin, I couldn't help but wave back eagerly. It's been a while since I've seen children, my kind barely has any men around. The cold blast killed most of our soldiers who were men, so not a lot of children are born these days. Let's just hope those reports will save my people, and we can have a fresh start with alliances. "So, does all of your kind have wings like yours?" His question surprised me, he wanted to know more about my kin? Why? Was he planning for war?
"Why do you want to know? Are you planning to kill us all already?"
"I am just curious about your race, I haven't heard much about it. From the tales my grandfather and father told me, most don't have wings unless they're born with it."
"Hm." I knew all about their race, and the fact that he wanted to know more about mine intrigued me. "Some have wings, it depends on if you have a certain gene in your blood."
"How big is your homeland?"
"It was huge, bigger than the city of Erebor. Yet where we live now, is small considering your kind took our home." I snarled, he took a deep breath, probably to calm himself. His hands then gripped my cloak, and he pulled me against his chest roughly.
"I suggest you don't annoy me, for I won't be responsible for what happens to you on this trip." He was threatening me, I bet if we were attacked he'd leave me for dead.
"And I suggest you let go of me, I won't kill you but I think you'll be fine with a few fingers missing." I turned my head to face him, he was extremely close, our noses almost touching. Reluctantly he leaned back slightly, releasing me from his hold.
"I can't wait to reclaim my homeland, then I'll have you out of my sight. I won't have to deal with your kind anymore, your murderers. I don't know what Gandalf was thinking."
"He was thinking, that your weak, too weak to take down a dragon. If you want me to help you, I recommend you be friendly for I can easily leave you behind. I'll find a way into that mountain myself, so watch your words Thorin Oakenshield." He went to protest but was interrupted by shouting, it was Bilbo running from the entrance of the shire. We were in the middle of the woods now, I pull on the reigns to stop from going any further. Bilbo ran towards us, waving the contract in his hand, panting heavily.
"I signed it." He exclaims, panting heavily as he handed the contract to Balin. Balin pulls out a monocle to check the paper. It looked like Bilbo had brought everything from home with him.
"Everything appears to be in order. Welcome, Master Baggins, to the company of Thorin Oakenshield." Balin smiles, and surprisingly it didn't disappear when his eyes met mine. The warm smile made me happy, didn't he hear the rumors people had spread about my kind? Why was he so nice to me?
"Give him a pony," Thorin ordered, nudging me to keep going which I obey.
"No, no, no, no. That-That won’t be necessary. Thank you. I’m sure I can keep up on foot. Yeah, I’ve done my fair share of walking holidays, you know? Even got as far as Frog Morton once." Bilbo refuses, but they didn't listen to his cries. Suddenly two of the dwarves grab hold of his arms, pick him up, and placed him directly on Minty. As we all rode along in the woods, I could hear the dwarves talking to each other.
"Come on, Nori! Pay up!" Oin demanded, the sound of coins clinking together reached my ears.
"The rest of the dwarves took gambles on if Mr. Baggins would show," Thorin explained, however, I already knew this due to Gandalf.
"What about you Thorin? Did you participate?" I said looking at him, he shook his head laughing slightly.
"I don't participate in silly affairs, though if I did I would've guessed he wouldn't have come." I can see how that's true, sometimes people just don't want to leave home. They'd rather stay in their safe comfy beds, and I was one of them. "You seem deep in thought." My cheeks turned red as I realized I had been staring at him the entire time.
"I'm alright." Clearing my throat awkwardly only to hear Bilbo shouting about something else.
"Uh-wait, wait. Stop! Stop! We have to turn around." Thorin groaned and I slowed the pony down, waiting to hear Bilbo's excuse.
"What on earth is the matter?" Gandalf wondered, he was riding a larger horse than the rest of us.
"I forgot my handkerchief." We can't just stop and go back because of some handkerchief, it would only be a waste of time.
"Here! Use this." Bofur rips off a bit of cloth from his robe and throws it to Bilbo, who looks at it with disgust.
"Move on!" Thorin announces, and I continue down the path of our journey. Later that night, we stopped by the entrance of a small cave. I slept close to the edge of the entrance, my wings keeping me warm and hidden from the others. That's when I heard shuffling behind me, it was Thorin setting down his sleeping bag.
"Did you miss me already?" I joked, making him roll his eyes annoyed.
"One of us has to watch you, you might try and kill us in our sleep." I just turned back around, curling back up into a small ball. It was colder outside than I expected, I should've brought warmer clothes. I shivered as a gust of wind blew our way, it took a while for me to fall asleep. The cold wasn't helping me at all, but I finally managed to sleep into unconsciousness. That is until I woke up to howls, not just any normal howls, wargs. I sat up, searching the area, getting ready to strike if I had to. The orcs were far off into the distance but I saw them, I could feel the evilness radiating off of them.
"You think that’s funny? You think a night raid by orcs is a joke?" Thorin yelled making me turn to him, he stood up abruptly, his fur coat missing. That's when I realized it was on me, he had laid his coat on me to keep me warm but why? What was his reason for being kind to me?
"We didn’t mean anything by it," Kili stated, looking down at the ground in shame.
"No, you didn’t. You know nothing of the world." Thorin angrily walks off, I had an urge to go try and cheer him up. He did give me his coat, after all, I could at least do something nice. Slowly I made my way over to him, he hadn't sensed my presence yet.
"Thorin?" I called letting out a small yawn. He didn't face me, instead, he kept his gaze pit on the horizon.
"Go away." He ordered but I refused to listen, my feet made their way next to him. He scowled at me, but said nothing else, he only just crossed his arms. His hand caught my attention, it was bigger than most, his fingers were twice the size of mine. Without thinking I tugged on it, making his eyes avert to me. I placed my hand against him, comparing the sizes. "Y/n?" He mutters, wondering what I was up to.
"Your hands, they're so much bigger than mine. For such tiny men, you certainly have large fingers, it's fascinating." I looked up at him, his eyes widened at my comment. "You know as a child I used to wonder what the tiny men of our world looked like, I tried to learn everything about dwarves that I could. My kingdom's library had multiple books about your culture, I have to admit it was interesting to learn about your courting styles."
"You know of our courting ritual?"
"Of course, I know everything about each race. I was a very strange child at that age, yet one question remained unanswered. Why do dwarves keep their hair long?" He smiled at my curiosity, those deep blue ocean eyes stared at me in adoration. Though those furious eyes returned, and he angrily pulled his hand away.
"You shouldn't be asking questions about courting, it's not as if anyone would marry your kind anyway." He lifted his hand, glaring at it in disgust. "Now I have to wash away the filth you have spread upon me." My heart broke a little as if a piece had shred from the flesh. As he stormed off I wondered what ran through his mind, he was the sweet innocent man a few seconds ago. What made him irritated with me? Thorin went back to the place we had been sleeping, and he grabbed his cloak moving to the other side of the camp. Each dwarf turned their head my way, and only three of them grinned at me.
"I'll keep watch," I spoke as I returned to my make-shift bed. It would be better if I stayed away from the others, at least that's not what Kili thought. Cause a few seconds later he plopped down right next to me. "What are you doing? Won't the others scold you for sitting next to me?"
"Who cares, they can argue all they want. No one should be alone, I'll keep watch with you." My heart swelled at his kindness, why was he being so nice to me? Did he believe me than those foolish rumors the others had heard? He frowned slightly, he was serious now. "Are you ok Y/n?"
"Of course, why wouldn't I be? I've dealt with stubborn dwarves before believe me. Their rudeness hardly bothers me anymore." I lied, staring down at my hands. How could this world think such cruel thoughts about my kind, why did Thror have to lie about us? Kili placed his hand on mine to try and calm me, and lightly he caressed it with his thumb.
"You know not all of us hate you, me, Balin, and my brother Fili we know the truth. I told my brother what you told me, and he sort of believes it. You don't seem like the angry ravaging digonisks we've heard about, and besides the reports in those mountains is evidence that your kin is innocent. Speaking of Balin however, he wanted me to tell you that when you get a chance he wishes to speak with you." I glanced over the white-haired dwarf who gave me a small smile. I wonder what he wants to talk to me about? Maybe his politeness was just a ruse to kill me in secret, what if Kili is doing the same? Ever since I've joined the company I haven't thought of the consequences, I treat them as if they're normal men. I have to be more careful if I am to get to the mountain. "You know you should probably get some sleep, we'll need those wings again."
"No, they're orcs not far, they're watching us. I need to be awake just in case they decide to come our way. I appreciate the gesture, sleep Kili, you and your kin are the most important people here after all." He opened his mouth to protest, but kept quiet and snuggled up in his bed. I kept my eyes on the frontier, watching as the orcs scattered away but I knew they would be back, they always come back.
~♪♠♪~
The harsh wind blasted against me, the building fell apart from the ice that covered the bricks. Shouts were heard from all over, but the only I could focus on was my mother's. My legs hurt bad, but her condition was worse, there was an ice shard in her side. It no longer looked like liquid water, instead, it was nothing but a melting ice block of blood.
"Mommy!" I reached out for her, my hand reaching out to try and save her from the man that stood close. His sword was raised ready to strike, and that's when I saw his face. Thorin Oakenshield, the leader of our company.
"Die filth!" His sword came crashing down hard, and as it decapitated her head I shot up. My chest beating fast, it was just a dream, just a dream. Most dwarves were asleep, the only one awake was Kili who was taking over my shift. I had fallen asleep, how could have been so stupid? He could've hurt me, or worse slaughtered me like the rest of my family. My body trembled as he came close to me, worry showing in his brown eyes.
"Kili stay back!" I warned, he raised his hands as a symbol of peace.
"I won't hurt you, I promise...are you alright?" I was shaking violently, and it wasn't because of the wind that blew our way. "Are you cold? Here." He sheds his cloak going to hand it to me but I shake my head.
"N-Nightmare." That was all I managed to get out, he dropped the piece of clothing on the floor and slowly made his way over showing that he had no weapons. When he was close enough he wrapped his arms around me, making me gasp. I didn't hug back, for I was waiting for any sign that this wasn't a nice gesture. It didn't come, he just pulled me closer, and I have to admit the hug was very helpful. I listened to his breathing, and eventually, it helped my heart stop beating at a rapid speed. He smelled of sweat and pine wood, surprisingly it was a soothing smell.
"Want to talk about it?" He whispered, pulling back to look at me as his thumb rubbed softly against my skin as a way to calm me down.
"No, it was just a silly dream. It's not as if you would care anyhow."
"I do care, and just in case another agonizing fantasy comes across your mind I'll sit right here. So if you do have another nightmare I'll be here to help." He gently pulled me into his side, which I hesitantly accepted, and soon I went senseless, succumbing to the darkness.
For the next few days when I wasn't flying above them to keep watch, I rode with Thorin. The more we rode together, the more he didn't mind it. Soon it was like second nature to him, and every morning when it was time to leave he would hold out his hand to help me on the pony. Although he was extra grumpy today as we continued our journey in the woods while riding in the torrential rain.
"Here, Mr. Gandalf? Can’t you do something about this deluge?" Dori begged, but to no avail, nothing could be done. Well at least for them, considering I was a dragon slayer and immune to fire. One of my abilities was magic, and that magic included creating ablaze. I felt Thorin shiver from behind me, and I felt bad. I never did thank him for letting me use his cloak the other night.
"Thorin take the reigns," I ordered, turning around on the horse, immediately he grabbed the reigns as I let go.
"What on earth do you think your doing woman?" He growled, his eyes piercing into my own. Resting a hand upon his chest, he blushed slightly at the contact I used just a little bit of my charms to summon some heat. "What curse are you putting on me? Get your filthy hands off of me!"
"It's not a curse, it's a spell to keep you warm you ass. Now hold still or I just might burn you." He growled and lifted his head to try and see in front of him, I wasn't that tall. After a few seconds of straining his neck to see, he eventually rested his chin on the top of my head lightly. "I'm not your headrest you know."
"Well, I can't see around your thick skull."
"It's not that big! I'm shorter than you!"
"Shorter, but your head is certainly wider. Are you sure you have a brain in there?" I burned him slightly, making him wince.
"Keep talking 'Oh great one' and see where it gets you. Your lucky I'm even giving you warmth, I could just keep it all to myself." I returned the heat to normal and leaned my head on his chest. His breathing went rigid for a second, then slowed down but his heartbeat sped up.
"...What other powers do you have?" He asked, moving closer to my hand to get warmer. I slipped it down to his side, making him jump. "Watch it."
"Other than fire, I have a vast amount of strength. I could rip a tree out of the ground, second I can fly at fast speeds while spreading my wings. Soldiers with wings are called our airborne army, they attack from above and can kill dragons a lot easier. Last but not least, only the royal line can take on the form of a dragon. At least we used to, The Power of The Black Dragon was lost long ago. It is passed down from generation to generation, but the Queen with the ability died along with it." My mother, just a year before my coronation to take on my birthright was gravely injured from the frozen blast caused by men. She passed away, I never got to tell her that I loved her. The last thing I ever said to her was 'I'm scared'. Though I will never forget her last words, 'don't take revenge.'
"How many more are there?"
"Once there were millions of us, and now because of people like you, there is only 1,000. I hope your happy, cause soon we'll be extinct."
"No, cause soon you'll get those reports. And you'll show the world the mistake we caused." He whispered, his comment made my heart swoon. Had he said what I thought he had confessed?
"Thank you." It was all I could say, I felt him smile as he wrapped his arms tightly around me. He was trying to keep me warm like I was doing to him, perhaps he's not like the monster from my dreams.

Nr 47 for Bagginshield sounds very interesting if it hasn't been done already, please and thank you🫣💖
Ok, so this prompt turned out longer than I originally anticipated. It was also a little bit of a challenge so thank you for sending it!! It's a little angsty but kissing out of spite is an angsty prompt!
~~~~~~~~
He threw the meeting door open to leave the room. His feet could not carry him away fast enough. He wanted to cry. He wanted to scream at the top of his lungs. He heard the door get pushed open behind him and briefly considered slipping on his magic ring.
“Laddie, he didn't mean it like that! You have to know how delicate all of this is!” It wasn't like Balin to trip over his words, so he was sure now that he had not been in on the announcement.
“He meant exactly what he said. He always means exactly what he says. Having me in Erebor is too much of a complication.”
“He didnae say that.” Balin tried to counter. Bilbo stopped and whirled on him.
“He might as well have! When Gandalf announced he was heading back over the mountains and would escort me back home, what did Thorin say?” There was nothing but silence from the old advisor. “What did he say, Balin!” He had long abandoned his willingness to stay calm. He was shaking with rage and hurt beyond words.
“He said that would be for the best.”
“That’s right, he did.” Bilbo walked away, and Balin did not follow. He closed the door of his room and screamed. He screamed so loud he was sure they could hear it in Dale. He had been deluding himself this entire time into thinking there was more. He really could have sworn they had gotten closer. They took meals together and smoked together. Thorin had gone out of his way to make him comfortable, even going so far as to make him a new armchair that put his at home to shame. He thought Thorin might even offer to let him stay. He hoped it with everything he had. The Shire didn't feel like home anymore, not when his heart rested in the mountain, even now as shattered as it was. There were hints the last week of this happening. They had stopped sharing as many meals, and Thorin stopped seeking him out before meetings or in the library. What had he done wrong?
He started to pack his things immediately. He wouldn't stay a moment longer than he needed to. Twenty minutes passed, and there was a knock at the door.
“Leave. I don’t feel like company.” He heard footsteps retreat, and a part of him resented that they didn't even try.
“We need to talk.” Thorin’s voice said clear as day from behind him. Bilbo nearly jumped out of his skin.
“How did you get in here!” He gasped and stumbled back. Thorin surged forward to help him but thought better of it halfway through the reaction.
“Our rooms are connected through a door in the kitchen,” Thorin stated plainly.
“I-I never noticed a door in there.” Bilbo cursed dwarves and their invisible doors but recovered. “What do you want, Thorin.”
“Someone said they heard you scream. I wanted to make sure you were okay. Y-your packing?” Thorin was standing stiff as a board; his words came through gritted teeth.
“Of course, I’m packing. You just offloaded your burden onto the wizard. I won't stay longer than I’m welcome. I’ll stay in Dale tonight, then with the Elves until Gandalf is ready to depart.” Even he knew that mentioning the elves was a low blow. The elvish ambassadors always made it a point to remark on how well taken care of he would be in Eryn Lasgalen and over inquired about his safety in the mountain. Right now, he wanted Thorin to hurt as much as he did.
“If you stay another day, Gloin can prepare some of your share of the treasure for you.” Thorin’s entire being seemed to be shrouded in shadow. His hair hung heavy over his shoulders, and his eyes looked like there were deep circles under them from days without sleep. He had noticed it in the meeting, but now they seemed to sink into his face.
 “I don't want a single coin from you! Not one piece of it!” The words carefully and not at all accidentally chosen had the same effect as a slap to the kings face. Bilbo hated himself for hurting Thorin in his pain. He wanted to apologize immediately and leave on better terms, but he had no idea how to at this point, so he didn't. His bag was now packed. He didn't take anything with him that he had accumulated in the last three months except a few mementos from the company, Sting, and the Mithril shirt tucked away at the bottom of his bag. He walked to the door, passing Thorin, and turned to him. This would be the last time he got the chance to do this, then it would be a lifetime of what-ifs. So why not. He walked over to him and yanked him down rather harshly until their lips met. He felt Thorin gasp against him and freeze. His lips felt warm and chapped, and by the lady's green garden, why did he do this? Because all he would ever want was this feeling again. They say love drives you to do crazy things, but so does spite. “I hate you for making me fall in love with you…you…bastard.” The words came out watery and much less harsh than he meant for them to be.
He didn't have the chance to move a single step before Thorin seized him. Ice went through him. He had done it. He had finally, truly set off that electric temper the king was so well known for. He felt his bag pushed off his shoulders as Thorin cradled his back and head. The second kiss was so much more than the first. Thorin held nothing back. He devoured Bilbo’s mouth, plundering it like it was the difference between living and dying. It was not gentle; it was desperate.
“How could you do that to me?” Thorin sounded truly hurt. His eyes were glistening with tears as he struggled to verbalize his thoughts. “I knew you were stubborn, but I did not think you so cruel as to reveal this to me now and try and turn to leave.” Thorin was now holding Bilbo’s head in his hands, his face wild with sorrow.
“You wanted me to leave! You practically pushed me into Gandalf's hands! Don't pretend you love me now after that.” Bilbo took several steps back, and Thorin’s hands fell limply at his side.
“I did that because what other choice did I have? I want you, but I can not have you! The moment I laid hands on you my right to your heart was forfeit by the laws of my people. It is against our law to even ask for it! I can't keep living like this knowing you are so near yet so far away. It’s like torture, Bilbo! How long until someone else catches your eye? I can't watch that happen! Watching you share your private moments… your body… Your love with someone that isn't me. I would rather shore all the hair on my body and cast myself upon my blade.” He meant it. Bilbo could tell he meant every word of it. The way he was standing and the tone of his voice, Thorin Oakenshield was not a dwarf built for lies. Bilbo stagged backward until he bumped into the frame of the bed.
“You… love me? But wait, you said… it’s illegal to be with me?” His brain felt fried. He was trying so hard to make sense of the information laid at his feet. “Wait, but I wronged you as well! I was technically an enemy of Erebor when you… when that happened. Surely that explanation is enough! Did you even think to try and work around this, or was casting me away your first solution!” The confusion had not extinguished his anger, but there was not nearly as much power behind it now.
“I didn't know that you wanted me in any way more than a friend. I had not dared hope, and the part of me that did hoped I wasn't forgiven. Am I forgiven?” Thorin looked so hopeful. The dark circles under his eyes only make the blue of his irises bright with life and pain. All the anger, all the vitriol left him like a tidal wave. He took a step forward, and his legs buckled underneath him. Thorin caught him and cradled him against his chest.
“I forgive you. Of course, I forgive you, you fool.”
______
Fun kissing prompt game to be found here!
also to the Anon who gave me the jealousy prompt. I did not forget you. You gave me my all-time favorite trope and therefore I am incapable of writing less than 1500 words for it.
